- 0:42Welcome back to the boundary Corner podcast.
- 0:46My name is Curtis Wilson. I'm Brian Sigler.
- 0:49How you doing buddy? Thursday night, Thursday night,
- 0:53Thursday night, man, having a brew.
- 0:56I am watching the baseball game that's currently on the
- 0:59Cardinals and the Padres I'm tired.
- 1:02My son had baseball practice this afternoon.
- 1:06Didn't get home till like 7:30 and then chaos putting two kids
- 1:12to bed. So him at midnight.
- 1:15Tequila ready? Yeah, tell me about it.
- 1:19Yeah, man. It's been a it's been a good
- 1:20week. Little busy but nothing too
- 1:23crazy. I'm hanging here in the office.
- 1:26Watched a little Broncos, Jets, riveting, riveting. 30 points.
- 1:39Total so, 30 points total. And I think the, I feel like the
- 1:44over-under line with something abysmal, wasn't it?
- 1:46Because those two offenses actually, look pretty terrible
- 1:50for de Judge. Jerry Judy's went out there and
- 1:53made some plays and Broncos of look.
- 1:56Competent. And the Jets haven't looked
- 1:58abysmal. So and they've looked so
- 2:02abysmal. Yeah, over underlined was 41 on
- 2:04that game. Yeah.
- 2:06Might, they might even want to talk to you over.
- 2:08I mean, hey, I like get that way to go the under sweats right
- 2:12now. It's the under sweats.
- 2:14Oh, yeah, that is the best term ever.
- 2:16Because you see a game like this, where, like, all laying in
- 2:19the 4130, what? There's no, yeah.
- 2:27But folks big weekend ahead of college football.
- 2:32Schedule gets even crazier and you know, we're going to jump.
- 2:36Right into it here tonight. Hokies going to go a little bit
- 2:40South this weekend. Head down to Wallace, Wade,
- 2:43Stadium, and play the Duke Blue Devils, and, like last week
- 2:50little thing to know your enemy. So Prime start out here, let's
- 2:54start with the Duke offense going to give some numbers.
- 2:57You go offense, not doing good so far.
- 3:01This year only average and 254 yards passing 88 yards rushing I
- 3:06mean they're Run game is non-existent we talk five, you
- 3:12know, / cares what you want. If you're under for
- 3:15four-and-a-half, you okay? From you got the beer there.
- 3:22Hey, what you got? Hey, gus up and listen to this
- 3:25abysmal. Bomber Two point seven yards per
- 3:31carry, ouch. Not played well at all.
- 4:00They've already given up ten sacks through three games 55th
- 4:04out of 72 teams that have played not good.
- 4:08We've also given up 16 tackles for loss so you take a look at
- 4:12that that means 26 times in 3 games that they're they're
- 4:17getting down in the backfield we're not counting pressures
- 4:20we're not counting hits 26 times.
- 4:24That's 9 times a game you know you You know, most times they
- 4:286575 is your average and that's about 20% of the time, they're
- 4:33getting losing yards not even counting pressures.
- 4:38They do have sort of a kind of an unseen Star.
- 4:41As far as their passing game goes nor greater tight in a
- 4:45taleo Minster. Miss Massachusetts, three star
- 4:48came out into 17, has definitely been their biggest go to.
- 4:52So maybe some maybe they like attacking the scenes like that
- 4:55mismatch. And but but clearly Brian the
- 5:00biggest star on their team right now was a transfer from Clemson
- 5:06Chase Bryce three-star to Georgia.
- 5:08You know what have you seen? Not only from him but kind of
- 5:13from this offense in general, the first three games.
- 5:17So you got to talked about it with the offensive line
- 5:19struggles and how that's kind of trickling to other areas of The
- 5:25offense for Duke. They've struggled against all
- 5:29the defensive fronts they played so far.
- 5:31So Notre, Dame, BC and UVA. Struggle mightily in the Run
- 5:36game, mightily in the Run game and only really average against
- 5:41the against the past. When they, when they draw back
- 5:44to throw the ball. I mean, we've talked about it
- 5:47before. If you can't run the ball
- 5:48consistently you don't have the the play-action you got long
- 5:52yardage situations where pass Russia's continued.
- 5:55Phone you because you're behind all the down.
- 5:57So it trickles all the way down and Bryce for all of his
- 6:02attributes is not a guy that's going to escape the pocket and
- 6:06get you a first down consistently either.
- 6:08So that's kind of been the story pass protection struggles.
- 6:13They struggled mightily with blitzing and pressure.
- 6:15So Bryce has guys in his face a lot.
- 6:20And, you know, you mentioned there with ten sacks. 26 knock.
- 6:25Bounds. I mean that's that's atrocious
- 6:28in three and a three-game stretch, my 27th.
- 6:31He's been knocked down 26 time with the 10 sacks with the so
- 6:3752. Essentially 52, they're getting
- 6:41home. That's That's like a quarter of
- 6:45the time they run a play. Yeah, yeah.
- 6:50So we should have no problem taking away their run and we
- 6:53should have no problem getting to them in the backfield.
- 6:56Now, what we need to do need to watch out for in their running
- 6:59game, is that Deon Jackson? I know you mentioned him
- 7:02already, he can hurt us if he gets to the second level.
- 7:05So he's he's kind of a bigger bag six-foot-two, 20, good
- 7:10between the tackles can break a tackle.
- 7:12So if we Tackle sound at that first level and he gets kind of
- 7:17to the safety level. He can do some damage because he
- 7:19does still have a little bit of a second gear.
- 7:21Despite that size offensive on just has not done a good job of
- 7:25establishing the run so it's put the pressure on Bryce who is a
- 7:29majority pocket passer. Yeah.
- 7:32And he tries to make plays with his arm a lot sometimes that's
- 7:38been good for them sometimes that has not been very good for
- 7:41them. It's kind of got a little bit of
- 7:43Of Ryan, Willis Tendencies. I know that that's going to
- 7:49that's going to make some hokey shake their heads a little bit.
- 7:52I mean he's a guy that has arm talent but he's also a guy that
- 7:55is going to take some risk because he has arm talent.
- 7:59But what he does like to do is find his tight ends.
- 8:02Those, that's his bread and butter that's where he's
- 8:05comfortable and that's where he's going to look.
- 8:07Especially when he's got a man coming in his face so that
- 8:10sounded wrong. All right, he likes to hit yet,
- 8:16he likes it. The tight ends on particularly
- 8:18spot route, seems and digs he really likes the seam and he
- 8:21likes the spot route. A lot, you'll see them run the
- 8:24spotter outs, sometimes with like a little option for the,
- 8:28the tight end to kind of settle in inside or settle out
- 8:32depending on how the if there's a zone or man coverage there,
- 8:36but really likes to take shots up the seam to the tight ends.
- 8:40So it's going to be really important for our linebackers to
- 8:42get proper depth so we can close Close the distance between the
- 8:47the backers in the safeties in those own coverages that were
- 8:49running. Now, when he's throwing two wide
- 8:52receivers, he prefers to go to the slide guy over the x and z
- 8:57really likes the skinny post. So you know, we're pretty much
- 9:01talking almost a mirror. Usually you got to got the tight
- 9:05end. Running a seam on one side and
- 9:07probably slot running a skinny post on the other.
- 9:10Does it really go outside a lot with the ball?
- 9:13I think. I don't think that's necessarily
- 9:16a dig at his arm. I just think he's comfortable
- 9:20with his vision where he can throw to the middle of the
- 9:22field. So, again, we've talked about
- 9:24the primary targets. Noah gray, is the guy that he
- 9:28looks for on some of those scenes and the spot routes
- 9:31really good at finding space on the spot routes and he can hurt
- 9:35you up the seam. The other guy that can hurt you
- 9:37at the seams Jake Mar, we'd not not as not as good against the
- 9:43the spot route as As grey, but he's a guy that if you looked at
- 9:48the UVA game, he's the guy that had the long touchdown.
- 9:51Yeah, I think it was either late first early second quarter for
- 9:56them when they took the tent, got to 10.
- 9:58So, look out for those two there, but the biggest thing is
- 10:05that, you know, like I said, Bryce has kind of that hero
- 10:08syndrome that gets him into trouble.
- 10:11And that's been again, a byproduct of the At offensive
- 10:15line play when you know especially when teens bring more
- 10:17than four, he's got guys in his lap and he takes chances with
- 10:22the football. He's not a guy that you're going
- 10:24to design, run plays around, I've seen them use some short
- 10:29yardage packages where they all kind of run him up the gut just
- 10:32to get the first down, but there's not gonna be any
- 10:35designed runs or QB sweeps, and he's not really a Scrambler.
- 10:40You'll occasionally maybe take off to try to get a first down
- 10:42on a short yardage. He's not someone that's going to
- 10:45get you 10 or 15 yards on a scramble.
- 10:48So unless it's wide open. But, you know, we get here,
- 10:53we're talking about Bryce and what he's lived and died by his
- 10:57is swinging the ball, and he's had some turnovers man.
- 11:00Tell us about some of those turnovers, some turnovers, it's
- 11:04right now. Dukes turnover, it's terrible.
- 11:07I mean, the way that their turnover, the ball, right and
- 11:10the rate they're turning over A, it's amazing that they were in
- 11:15the Notre Dame game and it's amazing.
- 11:18They were leading UVA. After three quarters, seven,
- 11:21interceptions, seven, fumbles 14, total, turnovers, and three
- 11:27games that oh uh, that's damn near five a game.
- 11:32They've only forced four interceptions and one forced
- 11:35fumble. So it might -9 differential in
- 11:38the turnover as just not good and with Team of their talent
- 11:43level. I mean they're they're not going
- 11:47to win games turning the ball over that much.
- 11:50I mean, they need, you know, we started looking back, you know,
- 11:54back and forth, kind of like okay.
- 11:57Well let's look at some of these games and you know, where did
- 12:01they do good and you know, you mentioned more wad.
- 12:04He's had two catches all year. One was that big 55 been on the
- 12:07scene for a touchdown. Yeah, that's great.
- 12:09But when you're turning the ball over that much in One of your
- 12:12better more athletic tight ends only has that one big catch.
- 12:19I don't know if he's not seeing the field or what but is we look
- 12:21like at the Notre Dame game? You watched a lot of that game
- 12:25earlier this season and apparently got it because we
- 12:28have stuff going on. But me and you talked about it
- 12:31after the game, they could have won that game.
- 12:35They had a couple untimely turnovers That was a minus one
- 12:40game. They lost by 14 points.
- 12:42Yeah, I think you know anything, you see from that game, that
- 12:47translate our game this week. Well, I think there's a few
- 12:51things. So number one, you saw a Notre
- 12:54Dame team that came out and played.
- 12:57Okay on offense, but probably wasn't firing on all cylinders
- 13:01especially with some of the communication between book in
- 13:04the wide receivers. They didn't do it.
- 13:08Great job of consistently. We win the ball down field on
- 13:12third down and things like that. So I think they could get better
- 13:15at that. But what I did see in that game
- 13:17was Notre, Dame's ability to get after the Duke offense and
- 13:24really throw them off. We saw it.
- 13:27They even when they didn't turn the ball over significantly, do
- 13:32still had to get short field a couple times in order to get
- 13:35some of those scores. So I think think Duke is still
- 13:39going to struggle struggle, moving, the ball consistently
- 13:41because of those shortcomings even when, you know, they're
- 13:45pretty even on those turnover battle.
- 13:47So I still like our chances even if we're not forcing, you know,
- 13:51three to five turnovers like Dukes had the last couple games.
- 13:54Oh yeah man. I mean in I mean 325 and go 5 to
- 13:597 because the BC game they have five turnovers.
- 14:02We're centrally they throw two picks.
- 14:05Fumble three more in that game. Is just a ball out of twenty,
- 14:09six twenty and you know, Jimmy 26-6 021 for BC and it's one of
- 14:15those things where it's like getting you see it and it's as
- 14:18you go back and you start looking and saying you know they
- 14:20didn't they didn't their defense played okay but you just I mean
- 14:26five turnovers. Yeah I think for us and it's
- 14:30going to be It's going to be one of the things we can see, but if
- 14:40they turn the ball over, if we win the turnover battle plus one
- 14:42this weekend we're going to easily cover the spread.
- 14:46I don't know about that one bit. Yeah the UVA game to me is a
- 14:49little different because going up to the third quarter and
- 14:54Madeline office says about UVA rays says about Duke mentioned,
- 14:57they had said, did you go into the third quarter?
- 15:02They turned it over four times. You can turn it over three, that
- 15:05they were winning that game with a plus one turnover
- 15:09differential. Yeah.
- 15:10Similar to the Notre Dame game and I think it's something we
- 15:13can look at and say, Notre Dame Talent level UVA Talent level
- 15:17you give them a plus in the in the turnover martians, they can
- 15:22either be leading you or potentially right in the ball
- 15:24game. Yeah.
- 15:26Now what they did in the third quarter was just you know hey
- 15:29let's do something really stupid brine.
- 15:31And I know that played just aren't the crap out of you, but
- 15:34go ahead and mention like they're driving and all of a
- 15:38sudden what they decide to do. We talk about the Calhoun
- 15:40picked. Yeah, we're not there.
- 15:50I'm going to throw across my body to the guy.
- 15:53That's not open short-arm. It and just end up giving UVA
- 15:58the ball on their own 10-yard line when they were already.
- 16:01Field goal range 3. Yeah.
- 16:05Like it just it was a bonehead play by Calhoun.
- 16:08I mean I know he got the bad end of a pretty big hit as he was
- 16:13letting the ball go, but that's one either.
- 16:15Just got to eat or try to get the get it out of bounds and
- 16:18throw it away, man. You can't take a risk with the
- 16:22ball up three against an opponent that on paper is better
- 16:26than you playing at their place. Like it's just there's so many
- 16:30factors there that you just don't.
- 16:31Don't you don't make that type of play.
- 16:33And I mean that's its kind of indicative of some of the other
- 16:37just general carelessness with the ball, that Duke is shown.
- 16:41I mean they've had, let's talk about the ways that they've
- 16:46turned the ball over. All right.
- 16:48So they've had a special teams turnover.
- 16:50He had a fumble by a wide receiver.
- 16:52They've had a wide receiver. Throw an interception, they've
- 16:55had a quarterback, throw an interception, they've had a
- 16:58fumble on a run play. They've had stripped sacks like
- 17:01there. Other than having a defensive
- 17:04turnover that on the same. Play, the defense gives the ball
- 17:07back. That's the only way.
- 17:09That Duke is not turn the ball over at this point.
- 17:12So basically what you're saying is Duke is essentially showing
- 17:16us how to create a defenses highlight film as we're going
- 17:21into next season, all the ways are kind of the temple.
- 17:24Yeah, yeah I mean I don't know another like I said other than
- 17:28their own defense giving the ball back after they take A pic
- 17:32or a fumble recovery. I don't know another way for
- 17:34them to turn the ball over and and and Bryce has been bad at
- 17:39times to I mean sometimes he's thrown late and got undercut on
- 17:44throwing some of those seems sometimes.
- 17:45He's just had a guy on his lap and chucked it to one of those
- 17:49spot routes that somebody's already playing pretty tight
- 17:52coverage on. I mean, it's gyro ball sometimes
- 17:57and like I said, just a general carelessness with the football
- 18:00and It's bad because it's even worse when it's crunch time.
- 18:04Like they get worse. The more, it matters problem,
- 18:08pick at that point in time. The turnover differential was
- 18:1133. This was late, third quarter.
- 18:13They were up once already there already and feel they could have
- 18:16put that game at 10 in essentially, probably set on the
- 18:20ball and essentially gave the Wahoo's, a ugly, ugly ugly but
- 18:27they didn't. So, I mean, for us, I think, the
- 18:30way we look at those, Three games as say, if we win it, if
- 18:34we win the turnover battle big. It's going to be ugly.
- 18:38Yeah. If we win it by one and I'm
- 18:41digging the UVA game up to the third quarter, they can be
- 18:44competitive, they could be in it.
- 18:45I don't I think we have more Talent than UVA.
- 18:47I think we have a better team than UVA and then I look at the
- 18:50Notre Dame game. We're somewhere between the end
- 18:53of that, three in that 14, if it's a one turnover game.
- 18:56Yeah, that's my opinion. Maybe I'm Wrong.
- 18:58Maybe I'm right. So I for the kind of brief
- 19:01Valentin. Delay.
- 19:02Their folks watching the Padres game Machado Jack's one to take
- 19:08to tie the game up and when like is one of those things I'm
- 19:11watching it and he swings and it's one of those swings and
- 19:13you're like, that's a home run. Let's go back to me.
- 19:18Real live podcasting here folks. All right, brother, we we look
- 19:21at their offense, they have their woes the defensive side of
- 19:25the ball, not too, too much, better brine.
- 19:29I mean, we kind of look at it here.
- 19:33You know, giving up over 30 points per game, four hundred
- 19:37twenty five yards per game overall, 250 on the are 150 on
- 19:41the ground. 60 percent completion ratio run gave a
- 19:45little bit better at three point seven per carry so definitely
- 19:48you know not hemorrhaging in a run game.
- 19:52I do think this will be the best the way.
- 19:55Our guys played last week. This will be the best offensive
- 19:57line they've seen at run blocking.
- 19:59No knock on Notre Dame. I just That first game was
- 20:02really rusty for them. Essentially, five point seven
- 20:05yards per play. Now, the one step that kind of
- 20:08sticks out that they're pretty good at is third down stops
- 20:12there at 38%. So that's a pretty good third
- 20:16down. Stop bomb percentage, basically,
- 20:18you know, keeping teams from converting, you know, basically
- 20:23roughly, you know, three or five times.
- 20:26Now they have eight tackles for loss, which is not good.
- 20:30That is Six out of the seventy two teams have played, but as
- 20:34good as that third down percentage run, is you feel like
- 20:37that's good? How many first downs?
- 20:42Do you think they've given up in three games?
- 20:48You know, their home teams on third down.
- 20:49So my average per game or total. Oh let's go total Zoom.
- 20:54Do the math. Let's see, I think they've got
- 20:58maybe, you know, let's say, 50 Grand, you're this.
- 21:04This was Price, is Right, you'd be way off, very 69, first
- 21:08downs. 23 atoms. So, third Downs, great teams and
- 21:15getting the third down there, literally getting there in one
- 21:18or two downs. So they don't get the job done
- 21:21now. This week, Brian, some news
- 21:24broke that. They are going to be without a
- 21:25couple of their top. Backs in elberon as you started.
- 21:29Looking at some tape what are you seeing like, you know, they
- 21:35they're clearly giving up points, but also your turnover.
- 21:38But what are you seeing that? They have to do.
- 21:42So they're not great up front but they are pretty Gap sound
- 21:46and they do a good job of getting where they need to be on
- 21:50the defensive front. They like to bring pressure on
- 21:55passing Downs, they don't do a good job of getting pregnant.
- 21:57Usher, with just four, usually have to bring an extra man to
- 22:00get some really good push and they're not that impressive in
- 22:06the secondary. I think we're going to see even
- 22:08even less of that with the with the guys out.
- 22:10So I mean it's going to be interesting to see what we end
- 22:13up getting from them. But I mean, I definitely think
- 22:17that we have an opportunity to make some plays.
- 22:22They do also do a good job of like stunning.
- 22:27Run. So creating some confusion with
- 22:30the offensive linemen, but we saw against NC State that our
- 22:34guys did a pretty good job of picking that up.
- 22:36So hopefully that's going to continue and they do the same in
- 22:38the passing game. They really want to try to get
- 22:41pressure by confusing. The offensive line versus just
- 22:44lining up and and out, muscling, you or throwing a speed rush at
- 22:49you. There's really only one guy that
- 22:50can hurt you from that perspective.
- 22:53Yeah. And you mention it because about
- 22:55that line in the stuff they have to do too.
- 22:57Confused. Because by all means you're
- 22:58telling me right there with one out.
- 23:00What me and you talked about? The interior, their line is very
- 23:03weak, but the outside damn good is definitely the strongest part
- 23:07of their line. Yeah, you know, the total line
- 23:10is had ten sacks in three games led by the preseason.
- 23:13All-American crew from three star out of Florida.
- 23:17You know, he has 16. Tackles one sack, Victor De new
- 23:23kg. I screwed that up.
- 23:25I'm sorry. The three.
- 23:27At a Charm City. Believe it or not, he had a ton
- 23:31of 38 total offers, a lot of D1 teams were after him.
- 23:34He so far has been really their star on as a, you know, the team
- 23:39as a whole eight tap move 1/2. Tackles for loss for sacks.
- 23:43So he him and broth basically making up half their sack total
- 23:46there. I mean, those guys are good, you
- 23:50know, it's one of those things where, you know, it's kind of a
- 23:53bright spot for them but Ryan What are you see?
- 23:58Maybe what we can do. Obviously, you mentioned the
- 24:01stunts and stuff, could do they have to do that?
- 24:03Probably be in the weakness on the inside, like trying to
- 24:06compute, especially with two, good defensive ends.
- 24:08But what else are they going to have to do?
- 24:11Yeah, so I mean, you said it right there, Victor Diva kg and
- 24:15Creeks around for kind of their two guys.
- 24:18Run for the pass. Rush specialist, even though he
- 24:20has fewer sex right now, he is the guy that's going to bring
- 24:24that that speed rush pressure off the edge.
- 24:27Deva kg more of a three-day on player.
- 24:32Good against the Run, can pass rush.
- 24:35He's probably the guy that you're going to probably gain
- 24:38playing a little bit more around just because you're going to see
- 24:40him on a lot more snaps. But rough is a guy that can
- 24:45really hurt you in one play. Kind of get that speed rush and
- 24:50you know throw you for a big loss potentially get a sack
- 24:53fumble and things like that. So both of them are guys to
- 24:57Watch but neutralizing them. I think we're just going to keep
- 25:00doing what we did against NC State with a lot of inside run
- 25:02man. UVA did a good job with that.
- 25:06Working against Dukes interior formed them up.
- 25:10It kind of was a little bit of a death by a Thousand Cuts they
- 25:15had to get some yards here yards there.
- 25:17But as the game wore on tawa, Papa started to find some.
- 25:21Some holes in that defense it was able to get some chunk
- 25:24yardage and that's when they started to pour on the the
- 25:26points there in the Fourth quarter.
- 25:29So I think we're going to see a lot more of that and then I
- 25:31think we're going to see some some more of getting our running
- 25:36backs involved in the passing game.
- 25:37Whether it's the screen game, some short passes, some some
- 25:41Flair outs, I mean, things like that.
- 25:43We saw against Notre Dame Duke struggled, tackling those guys
- 25:47in space Chiron Williams tore them up in the passing game.
- 25:53He had he had two catches one of them got I went for Big yardage
- 25:58and and Chris Tyree also had some good touches in that game
- 26:03as well. He ended up with some is decent
- 26:06passing yards numbers and had some good good runs outside the
- 26:10tackles as well. So I think there's a lot of
- 26:12different ways we can attack them from an offensive
- 26:15perspective, trying to get some points on them.
- 26:19But I look for us to start with the Run game, establish that,
- 26:23and then, you know, work early Downs, play action, and then lay
- 26:26it down. Some Blitz beaters so that we
- 26:28can get the ball out of are the quarterbacks hands, let the
- 26:31receivers make some plays, Let the running backs, make some
- 26:34plays in the screen game. All right, let me ask this Braun
- 26:38and I'm watching baseball tonight, I'll put this analogy
- 26:41to slow down our offense. I think I picked the perfect
- 26:44game pretty much. I think, I think they've got
- 26:49some a little bit of wiggle room, but not a lot like, For
- 26:57example, they can afford maybe maybe one turnover one turnover,
- 27:06maybe I just think that we're going to be able to I think
- 27:10we're going to protect the ball. Number one and number two I
- 27:12think we're going to do a good job of maintaining drives
- 27:16getting points consistently and things like that.
- 27:18And that's something that they don't do well.
- 27:21And so I think even if we don't jump out and beat the brakes off
- 27:25of them in the first quarter, like The NC State, I think we're
- 27:28still going to pull away late and with a similar type of Point
- 27:33differential at the end of the game, okay?
- 27:36Uh, some shades of maybe your prediction like maybe, maybe.
- 27:43All right. Well, let's jump.
- 27:45We've discussed Duke. We hid their offense, their
- 27:47defense. Let's hit the pivotal players
- 27:48for the Hokies and Braun. Lets go kind of number one.
- 27:54I feel is going to be strong. The safety boundary save you,
- 27:58roaster, a, with kyanka. And Jay are a couple other guys
- 28:02fill in that spot by then experience there.
- 28:06But you mentioned it earlier, I want you to say it again for the
- 28:10folks. I think it's important to know
- 28:12why those two guys are so important on this defense is
- 28:14because of the tight ends. Yeah yeah.
- 28:17So we're talking about the tight ends and what they like to run.
- 28:19So they like to run a lot of spot routes seems and digs and
- 28:25that think that those are things that Going to put some weight on
- 28:29those safeties to make tackles to make sure that they are in
- 28:34the right position in zone coverage.
- 28:37And so guys, like you want a Jenkins, Devon Diablo, even
- 28:42looking Rudolph might see some, see some time in this game.
- 28:46Every other. The other true.
- 28:48Yeah. The other true freshman?
- 28:49Yes. So there's a lot of guys, Tyree
- 28:52Rogers could see some time in this game as well, so anybody
- 28:55that's going to be lining up in that safety.
- 28:57Area is going to be someone that's going to need to make
- 28:59some plays in this game because that's where they like to attack
- 29:02kind of in that 15 to 20 yard range of the field in the middle
- 29:08of the field there, whether it's, you know, digs seems and
- 29:11then underneath the linebackers with the with the spot route.
- 29:14So and safety plays going to definitely be important,
- 29:18especially in the in the pass game.
- 29:21Got a plenty, we start talking about it me and you put them 12
- 29:25and we just blend them together because The safety is going to
- 29:28be important for what they like to do for them to have any
- 29:30semblance of a chance on, you know, either going to have to
- 29:34attack that. And be I think we're going to
- 29:36have to play really bad, white really bad, at those positions
- 29:41to do it. Now, Brian, you put this guy
- 29:43down here. You said he had to be on here.
- 29:46Who's the other key for the defense based on what?
- 29:48Dude looks like fun. They're all from Divine Justice.
- 29:51Reed ladies and gentlemen and we could easily say here the entire
- 29:57Offensive line. But I'm going to single out just
- 30:00as read not only because of what I saw him do against NC State
- 30:03because I think what he did against NC State is going to be
- 30:06exactly what is going to be great against Duke and that's
- 30:10bull rush. Put guys in the lap of Chase
- 30:12Bryce and make him throw when he's not ready or off his back
- 30:16foot because he will make those throws.
- 30:18He will not make the smart play and take the sack or throw it
- 30:20out of bounds. He will try to get the ball in
- 30:23there. So I think, I think just as Reed
- 30:26is going to have A big game and if he's not directly creating
- 30:31turnovers and sex, he's going to be forcing maybe one or two.
- 30:35The other big thing about that get up to three and you're
- 30:39talking about how good he is, is there to, you know, obviously
- 30:45their leading receiver is a tight end, the guy who showed
- 30:48last we can, he break, big plays or tight ends so if nothing else
- 30:51that maybe the two positions we feel are very important are
- 30:54going to kind of essentially help each other because if
- 30:58Justice, the first couple drives is eating their tackles alive.
- 31:02I have a feeling of two tight ends are going to have to stay
- 31:04in. And Chip and maybe even maybe
- 31:08even just say Hey listen we're not going to do it because he's
- 31:12going to get to the quarterback either way.
- 31:14Maybe we can try to find something else.
- 31:15So it's funny because you look at it as kind of saying if we do
- 31:20this it's going to help these guys out because it takes away
- 31:23their best weapon. Yeah.
- 31:26All right? And that's that's going to be
- 31:28big for us. I think if we can make them have
- 31:31to adjust, what they do best that's going to create even more
- 31:35problems. I think.
- 31:36I mean of course the adjustments are needed because we're taking
- 31:40away their best option, but now they're moving away from their
- 31:42best option and I don't I don't think any team really wants to
- 31:45do that either. The going to be the portable
- 31:51coin, flip for them right? Yeah.
- 31:53Pick your poison. See, we can let our quarterback
- 31:58get murdered by this guy, or we can help them and then leave our
- 32:02best weapons on the line of scrimmage just not great, not
- 32:07great for them at all. All right, let's flip over to
- 32:09the offensive side. Brian.
- 32:11You got is our number one pivotal players.
- 32:16I think we've already kind of talked about him a little bit,
- 32:18but it's going to be the running backs.
- 32:19Again, it's going to be, what, what Herbert and Blackshear can
- 32:24do in the Run game. If if we're able to get a
- 32:28consistent Run game against them, get, you know, one guy
- 32:32above 100, maybe get at least get our total team above 200.
- 32:37They're going to struggle man, because that means we're
- 32:40possessing the ball. We're moving it up and down the
- 32:42field on them, you know, as long as we're coming away with points
- 32:45on those drives, I feel confident that the that we're
- 32:50going to be able to take care of cake, take care of dukkha.
- 32:52We can establish that run well, Herbert between the tackles lat.
- 32:56Sheer outside Blackshear in the passing game, Herbert in the
- 33:02passing game, into the screen game.
- 33:03I just think that those two are going to be the most important
- 33:08element to for us to get a big victory against Duke.
- 33:12If I had to go with some other guys.
- 33:14I'd probably say our tackle. So we got Daris onto new to hear
- 33:19their defense. Their best players are going to
- 33:21play that defensive end position.
- 33:22So if we can stop those guys out, especially if we don't have
- 33:26to chip Poor or anything. Just have our best tackles out
- 33:30there one-on-one, you know, that's going to be big for us
- 33:33and keep some of that pressure from getting in.
- 33:37You know, if they don't bring they bring more than 4, we can
- 33:40pick up the Russians, hopefully, our interior guys can pick up
- 33:44those blitzes. Well, the big thing and we'll go
- 33:47back to the black sharing, her first, we find out Blackshear
- 33:50was a literally cleared Friday. He had one day at practice.
- 33:54Yeah and I know probably Appointed you some of their let
- 33:58me and you kind of, you know, hinted at it.
- 34:00Well on Saturday, but they got him out there cuz even out there
- 34:04and play, he's a weapon. He had the touchdown carry, he
- 34:07had some other few other carries.
- 34:09He had one day at practice and that's essentially why we didn't
- 34:12see him in the second half. Yeah, your point with the new
- 34:14down there, I saw. And to what you said earlier
- 34:16about them having to bring the extra plaster, if to noon and
- 34:20aerosol hold up, their two best defensive Rush hands and they
- 34:24have to bring extra pleasure. I feel confident with our third,
- 34:30guys, on this list of quarterbacks.
- 34:32They are not only going to find the open man.
- 34:35They are going to find the open man for big game.
- 34:39Yeah, they don't do that. I have a feeling that one of our
- 34:43quarterback is going to break 40 + yd run because I definitely
- 34:50agree with that. You know, we haven't heard
- 34:52whether it's going to be Burmeister starting or if it's
- 34:54going to be in hooker. Be good start.
- 34:58Yeah. All three could potentially
- 35:00start I think so let's say this, I think all three are going to
- 35:04play at least one one snap. Yes.
- 35:08I mean that I think I think that's that's a very strong
- 35:12likelihood. Hopefully we see the hooker as
- 35:15the starter and let Burmeister come in and and do his thing and
- 35:20then get q p in there for some of the short yardage things.
- 35:23I liked a lot of what Burmeister was able to do a Specially in
- 35:27the Run game and I like that. He's a weapon that you know when
- 35:32he comes if he comes on the field in those roles, you know,
- 35:35he's probably run first but he has such an ability with passing
- 35:40the ball as well that you can't say.
- 35:42You can't key on anything. No.
- 35:45So you can bring him in and then you know like throw a screen or
- 35:50throw a 10-yard out and then next thing, you know, you run a
- 35:52quarterback sweep and he gets 40 yards.
- 35:54So I mean, there's there's so many Different things you can do
- 35:57with them because from a game plan perspective, he's running
- 36:00the same game plan that hooker. Would he just has probably a
- 36:04couple extra run plays that you're not going to see hooker
- 36:06run at all, or at least not you three or four times a game like
- 36:11you would with Burmeister absolutely.
- 36:14And any three of them. Got the start, I'm hoping
- 36:17everybody gets at least seven snaps.
- 36:23You know that that to me will say, multiple series for all
- 36:26guys for Quincy and say it if it is stirred into or less put him
- 36:34on with Banfield record, Quincy Stitch foot board, 250 pounds.
- 36:40If he runs his own read and takes it, he is going to
- 36:43probably it he's gonna fall for damn near five and a half feet.
- 36:50Yeah, a couple of a couple times he was running this place when
- 36:52he was in the game against NC State.
- 36:53Even when they had the place snuffed out, he was falling
- 36:57forward for two or three yards, please you just please using
- 37:00man. All right, Brian, let's go,
- 37:03let's go to some little interesting things because we
- 37:07know Justin Hamilton. Thankfully everything we've
- 37:12heard, everything we were he tested positive for Coronavirus
- 37:15so it's ready on Friday, so he's out 10 days, so he will not be
- 37:21back. This Saturday, boring something
- 37:24strange, unless they proved it with the fault - yep.
- 37:29So fun, everybody knows Tracy. Claeys is back.
- 37:34Darrell Taps also, back Darrell. Apparently how he tested he was
- 37:38quarantined to a booth. I don't know if This was if he
- 37:41was like, if he hit day 14 and they let him be in there, but
- 37:45they wouldn't let him on the field, something?
- 37:46Yeah, it was weird. They said, you know, he wasn't
- 37:49listed as a coach that was out of the game, but he also wasn't
- 37:53on the sideline, which is, which is his usual position.
- 37:56Yeah. So Tracy claeys is back Ron
- 38:00Smith. Called the game last week, this
- 38:05is the debate that mean you got into and some other folks who
- 38:08should call the who should call the game this week Brown from
- 38:13the defensive side of the ball. Who should or who will?
- 38:21Hi because I'm there I thought their schools of thought here as
- 38:24far as who will. And then there is my opinion of
- 38:30who should okay? And that may be different.
- 38:34All right for you? How about this?
- 38:38I'm going to tell you who, I'm gonna give you my opinion.
- 38:40Okay. Let me if it's your head or put
- 38:42your heart, okay? He promised nothing there.
- 38:47I think you might run. It's called one more game at it,
- 38:50and it's not that Tracy. Not back in case you're not
- 38:53gonna play caller. But I think you need to get
- 38:55Tracy more, acclimated to being ready on the sidelines.
- 38:58Tracy, did not get to go through that last week if, you know, if
- 39:01Tracy had been leading up calling the game all week, maybe
- 39:06you Tracy acclimated to the sidelines.
- 39:08We did not have a linebackers coach last week.
- 39:11I didn't get prepped for that. Let Ron he did a very good job.
- 39:14My opinion Jam still probably along with the staff putting
- 39:17what they want. To do together.
- 39:20And then that's my opinion. I think you keep running.
- 39:23So for you what, that the head over the heart, I think that is
- 39:29the head, okay? Because I think the smart play,
- 39:34is that everything we were told was that when they were
- 39:39practicing for back-up plan, they call her, which to me, says
- 39:44the guy that calls the plays. If the primary play caller is
- 39:47not available. That guy was Ryan Smith going
- 39:51into that game. And that tells me that, I don't
- 39:56think that will change. I don't think they make the
- 39:59adjustment to move those duties over to Tracy, claeys, just
- 40:04because Tracy, claeys is now available, although Tracy's
- 40:08track record is damn good. Tracy has a very good track
- 40:13record. I will agree.
- 40:14Trade, Tracy, has called plays for some good defense has
- 40:17especially the defense's that he had up in Minnesota and he had
- 40:22some damn good being a good start with with Wazoo before
- 40:27year to win. Things kind of fell out between
- 40:30him and Mike Leach. Yeah. 2018 defense, it Wazoo was
- 40:35really damn good for Wazoo and being on the other side of an
- 40:39Air Raid Offense. Yeah, though, I don't I think
- 40:43it's a, it's a win-win whoever calls it, because I say you keep
- 40:48Ryan because you keep the keep the same until hand gets back.
- 40:51But on the other hand, if hands back next week on and now I'm
- 40:55contradicting myself here. But you know, there's Tall,
- 40:59boys, gone. Thank God.
- 41:04The Cardinals are losing right now, but Ryan Smith, once hand
- 41:09gets back, he will be in the he will be up in the booth where
- 41:12most either it, whether they're the safeties or the defensive
- 41:16back or the quarterback coach is going to be, you know, that from
- 41:21I'm sure your guys at Sydney, there was always probably a
- 41:24defensive back coach in the book just to see how everything's
- 41:26looking from above because they Need a wider view, the field.
- 41:29So I think we're I think we're winning when either way.
- 41:34Okay. All right, but we breathe it.
- 41:38We think Smith will be calling. We'll know, we'll know pretty
- 41:41quick Wally if they show a sideline shot and you don't see
- 41:44Ryan Smith down there. Tracy is calling please.
- 41:46Yeah, they really do a curveball Ryan's calling places booth.
- 41:53That would be different. That would be something we
- 41:55haven't seen very often. Ron, you got the 25 this week?
- 42:02Brian Johnson, got the 25, man. Kicker Well, after his
- 42:08performance last week, drilling 2, + 45 yard field goals, that
- 42:12would have been good from 60 say desert that go into a good kick
- 42:24and I mean he was able to make it work and make it work at a
- 42:28high level man. Absolutely and great given that
- 42:3125 the other good part and you talk about him.
- 42:35If you look at him this year he looks It's bigger and going back
- 42:38to him and Oscar's little distance home or help series.
- 42:44Or that's very sorry that was seven months ago and the way
- 42:53they talked about themselves, they don't want to be a
- 42:56specialist. They want to be known as
- 42:57football players and how they bust their asses in the weight
- 43:00room to get to that level. And I think you've seen it from
- 43:04him from coming in. And taking over last year, his
- 43:08he's kicked it further and further and further, which is
- 43:13awesome. So, really good for him.
- 43:16Getting that 25. Let's hope he doesn't have to be
- 43:20anything but extra points this weekend, the run and let's get
- 43:23to our predictions. You want me to lead off buddy?
- 43:27You lead. All right.
- 43:30I've been throwing this around several different ways and just
- 43:34trying to figure out where I wanted to go with it, but I
- 43:37settled on 42 to 21. We're jigna Tech obviously.
- 43:46Then you obviously we cover the spread.
- 43:49Obviously, do you think so like a boa, constrictor tight game,
- 43:54or is this going to be like an NC State?
- 43:55In the first three rounds, we knock their asses down three
- 43:58times and they essentially get a few pointers back in because of,
- 44:05you know, us plan. Tyler matheny's of the world and
- 44:10Walk-Ons and get there by a chance to shine.
- 44:13I think we put 10 on them early. And then I think we kind of
- 44:18Trade for a little bit and then pull away at the end.
- 44:23So, tenderly, straight, some touchdowns traits and field
- 44:27goals, probably somewhere around. 28 or 30 1217.
- 44:36And then we kind of Take over from there and close it out.
- 44:40They might get a field goal late to make get to the 21 we're
- 44:48pretty close. You headed as a seven-point
- 44:50game, I had it as a four-point game.
- 44:52I'm going 4124 and what I think it's going to be different.
- 44:57I think our offensive line is going to come out and mash them
- 45:00early. I think we're going to walk into
- 45:01a locker room at somewhere. You know 24 to 28 the like 7 and
- 45:15just kind of grind out the second half, make them do stuff
- 45:18out, see this if that is what I think's going to happen in the
- 45:22first time happens and they start getting loose with the
- 45:24ball. You could be a picture Garden
- 45:28because if they get done with the ball and not a simply play
- 45:33for both of you guys experienced play for getting confidence
- 45:37built up, they start learning it.
- 45:39We start picking it big, big, big for without the I could
- 45:47definitely see that. I could definitely see us if
- 45:49there's a bunch of turnovers like we've seen I could
- 45:51definitely see us blowing this thing up pretty big.
- 45:54But well I think that they're going to After having been to
- 45:57like that, I don't, I don't think they give us five after
- 46:01having back-to-back games of given five.
- 46:03But if they, if they're at two or three, then I think we're
- 46:06still gonna be where we want to be.
- 46:09I think they give us two or three and we don't give them.
- 46:12We gave them 0 to 1. I would like to up mine to
- 46:1551:24, and I try to make a prediction.
- 46:21I try to say this game is clean-cut as possible.
- 46:23This is what I think is going to happen, but why nothing?
- 46:26He's between 11 and 12. I think we're 17 points better
- 46:29than them. If there's no turnovers at all.
- 46:31That's just the way I feel. I don't know if you try to think
- 46:34about turnovers and stuff and if you do that's great.
- 46:39That's just philosophy is how you make prediction.
- 46:41So the Padres hit another two home runs and now leaders.
- 46:47I think we're both happy. The Cardinals are losing.
- 46:49Oh yeah, a Braves fan. I hate the Cardinals in the
- 46:52playoffs, get them the fuck out of there.
- 46:59Problem. 1 got a prediction to him.
- 47:03We got our game under now, let's do a quick shot of what happened
- 47:07in the other games around. The ACC this week, let's start
- 47:11with where game day was the Saturday night ABC game, which
- 47:14really wasn't a game Jesus Lord, have mercy, what the hell was
- 47:22that? Um, that team?
- 47:26That it essentially been dumped on by its old head coach, and
- 47:30I'm not talking Willie tagging. I'm talking Jimbo Fisher that
- 47:34was brutal. 5210, that's not Florida State, Miami that, we
- 47:40grew up with. That's not what we in the last
- 47:42decade in for us. We're trying to scout Miami and
- 47:48trying to get stuff on Miami. It sucks.
- 47:49That was the same time. So we couldn't focus on it at
- 47:51much, but I couldn't tell you Florida state has like quit so I
- 47:56could Tell you if if Miami is do you was back or now that you
- 48:01just played a really shitty team and they did good teams do the
- 48:04shitty teacher this way, Florida State, so bad.
- 48:07I completely miscalculated how bad GT still is we'll get to
- 48:14that in a moment although that you had a good week.
- 48:19Other than that one game. Yes, yes, I did.
- 48:24All right well let's set up a couple of the other ones. is
- 48:26here Brian we talked about the next one, a good deal already
- 48:31but let's look at a little bit more from UVA side because we
- 48:34Deep dive into the Duke side in my biggest takeaway is this You
- 48:39were essentially. Even turnover margin with Duke
- 48:44in the third quarter and you were down.
- 48:46Yep. They better be worried.
- 48:50And in that case, we will play the defense played great.
- 48:52Yeah, yeah. Yeah, listen, you're not going
- 48:55to for seven turnovers most games and you still gave up 22
- 49:00them. Now, I will say to their credit,
- 49:05they got a short field, got a short field, two times, one off
- 49:10of a Call fumble to open the game by UVA and then another I
- 49:17can't remember was if it was a fumble or a interception, I
- 49:21think was an interception thrown by Armstrong towards the
- 49:25sideline and that set him up with like from like the 24, 25
- 49:29yard line so they had short feels twice.
- 49:31Got 10 points out of it, that had something to do with it.
- 49:35But I mean we saw we talked about earlier with Calhoun
- 49:37throwing the pic when they were driving up up three.
- 49:39So, I'm not saying that UVA is a bad team.
- 49:44Definitely not a bad team. They've got a pretty good
- 49:47offensive line even though it's thin, they have a really good
- 49:51defense and they've got a quarterback that is still
- 49:55undetermined. I'm not going to say I haven't I
- 49:59didn't see anything from him in that game, that scares me but I
- 50:02did see a guy that he commanded the offense.
- 50:05Well but he did also make some mistakes.
- 50:08All right. Ron you mentioned.
- 50:09They're too short Fields. They also had a short field in
- 50:11the With Corner. They also had at the 50-yard
- 50:14line in the fourth quarter. Oh yeah, UVA definitely had a
- 50:17bunch of good bad damn, good field position to.
- 50:20So I was just saying, you know, you said they got 20 on that
- 50:24defense, you have it. 10 was 10 really short but on the other
- 50:29hand, I'm sitting here saying well, how many points did uva's
- 50:32offense, which is kind of the unknown with them.
- 50:34How many did they get off of seven turnovers?
- 50:37Yeah, I'm shut out. I was a shout-out to there.
- 50:42Very tall, definitely not the next Randy Moss, but very good
- 50:46player Lavelle Davis. He had a, he had a good game
- 50:52kind of probably the guy that's going to emerge as the number to
- 50:55Target in their offense behind Jana.
- 50:57So that's going to be a got to look out for going forward.
- 51:02Bald eagle skinny. Yeah.
- 51:05Yeah, I'm gonna dig it. Them all I can hit a lot of his
- 51:10catches were laid in the fourth. On those kind of those turnover
- 51:13drives to. So where was he in the other
- 51:17earlier parts of the game. True, you know, that they were
- 51:21they afraid to use them with your frayed to hide him?
- 51:24I think, I don't know if this weekend, we're going to know a
- 51:28lot about UVA, will discuss that a little later, but it's it's
- 51:32gonna depend on how close that game.
- 51:33If the game is close, I think we learned something about UVA.
- 51:36If that game is a blowout, I don't think we really have
- 51:39anything we can take away from it.
- 51:40So and more than Likely. It's going to be a blow.
- 51:43We'll get to that as we belong here.
- 51:47The other game good game. Look up it.
- 51:53Yeah. What do we learn about?
- 51:54Kenny picket, he's still struggling to win games.
- 52:00He won, they won the game. He's not gonna, he's not going
- 52:09to hurt you too much, but he's also not going to go out there
- 52:11and win anything for you. And as bad as Louisville played
- 52:16in pretty much every phase of that goes, especially on
- 52:19defense. Oh gosh.
- 52:21It's like that. That shouldn't have been a game.
- 52:26You should at least been a 10-point game if not more.
- 52:30It's defense especially their front door like they you know
- 52:33they definitely miss the blooming their offensive lineman
- 52:37that they lost in the draft there because they cannot hold
- 52:40up from an offensive line perspective against that pit
- 52:42front and I. Nope, it was good but I think
- 52:45Louisville's offensive line is so so bad that they really
- 52:50couldn't get some of those. Typical big plays down the field
- 52:54and in the outside Rush game that you see them take advantage
- 52:58of. Yeah.
- 53:00Yeah, I think with those two teams what we've seen on tape so
- 53:03far and if we're completely healthy, I think those games
- 53:08those are the ones I've cording to put these aside and say we we
- 53:11play. We play who we are.
- 53:14We're wearing those things. Yeah.
- 53:16One theme from them unless they have massive drastic turn
- 53:19arounds for Luke. Yeah, I'll say those games have
- 53:22went from what I considered tall Subs at the beginning of the
- 53:25season to kind of, if the line was at least like four four and
- 53:29a half. If I'd take you just bet the
- 53:33legal limit on the Hokies to win those games.
- 53:35Easily Yap, it. Can you pick it?
- 53:37Ain't it. Their defense has good, not
- 53:41great. Louisville, the offensive line,
- 53:44just it's bad. And that defense is should be
- 53:48shredded cheese against any capable offense absolutely like
- 53:54last time last one. How do you feel about the BC
- 53:58game? Now after they're primarily on
- 54:08the strength of turnovers and not much else.
- 54:12Very true, man. I mean, it was, you know, they
- 54:16go down. They struggle there 2 and 0, but
- 54:19just kind of looking Bad Hat. One game is Just, it ain't what
- 54:24it is. If and I mean, you know, I'm
- 54:27sitting here just kind of going through some of the stuff we've
- 54:30looked at and it's like they ran the ball 17 times and they ran
- 54:37the ball 27 times. 400 nights issue.
- 54:40He also has a few new for 87 yards.
- 54:44That's right for you ordered to carry.
- 54:45That's not b c under few of them yard passing.
- 54:49I mean, you take a look at it. They probably should have lost
- 54:52that game but they didn't. So yeah, it took a little, what
- 54:57a Lake Drive to kind of put it away there, it literally took a
- 55:02took a touchdown under two minutes and a last-second, field
- 55:06goal to win that game. And Texas state is a one and
- 55:12three team with losses. Touchdown UT San Antonio by
- 55:20three, which that game was insane.
- 55:23I remember watching that here and they lost Louisiana, Monroe
- 55:25about 21. So, yeah, I feel better about
- 55:29the PC game now. Yeah.
- 55:32Yeah. And like I said, I think the BC
- 55:35game against Texas State tells us a little bit about BC and it
- 55:38Us a little bit more about Duke and what they present coming
- 55:42into this game. I mean, if we can get the
- 55:45turnovers, like they had again, eat like it.
- 55:48I don't think we even need five, but if we can just get them to
- 55:50turn the ball over some, I think we're going to be able to
- 55:52handle, do pretty well. Absolutely.
- 55:54All right. Well Braun.
- 55:56We have some predictions. And some pick, the make here.
- 55:59But let's do a little reverse it last week.
- 56:02Brian, what I say. One game.
- 56:05Got you one game in brine 5? And one last week I was 500, so
- 56:12no didn't lose any money, we are.
- 56:16Both 10 wins, 7 losses. So if anybody out there was
- 56:20brave enough money from Week, 1 to week 3, we would have both
- 56:27made you money. Here, three ACC games and what
- 56:53makes we're going five out of conference games this week
- 56:58because like, for mistakes, please Jacksonville State, wait
- 57:01Place, Campbell. We're not going to.
- 57:03I don't even know if there's lines on their games, so let's
- 57:07start it off from buddies bed. No, no, man.
- 57:09Somebody is oh yeah, somebody's button on it but Let's start.
- 57:23Thirteen and a half points to NC State.
- 57:28Brian, I'm going to lead with this one.
- 57:32Give me pain. Give me NC State.
- 57:35Give me 13 and a half points against Pitt.
- 57:38I'm right there with you and I'll tell you this, I don't
- 57:41think pit is beating any ACC team by 14 points this season,
- 57:46know if they couldn't beat Syracuse.
- 57:50Well, they beat Syracuse bottle of them.
- 57:52Yeah. No they're not going to win it.
- 57:55And I know that a lot of the stuff that NCC, It does plays
- 57:58into the strength. I think.
- 57:59Leary will start this weekend for them and I did, but I can't
- 58:04see 14 and a half. Just like, I don't think me and
- 58:07you can see, Kenny, picket getting them.
- 58:09Their me. All right?
- 58:14Second one little more interesting.
- 58:18Brian. Boston College, North Carolina,
- 58:21North Carolina. Lay in the Thirteen and a half.
- 58:25What you got? Give me UNC.
- 58:32I have no faith in b.c. anymore especially if they can't run the
- 58:35ball. I'm with you on this one too.
- 58:41Yeah, BC. That Texas State game told a lot
- 58:44that if they can't force a buttload of turnovers are going
- 58:47to be in The Struggle Bus. Now, UNC haven't played in a
- 58:50couple weeks so that might be but I'm also hoping that UNC
- 58:56gets full of themselves by beating BC, 3514 and we walk
- 59:02into week three with then in their head in the clouds.
- 59:06Don't know, the Thunders are about to be brought.
- 59:10All right, bro. I'm With You Lead this one too.
- 59:15Okay, you guys Lane 29. Man, you know what?
- 59:26Give me UVA in the points. Okay, I think it's going to be
- 59:31just under that. I think, I think it's going to
- 59:33be like twenty four, twenty twenty, seven points.
- 59:35I think it's going to be just under that law.
- 59:40All right there. Bronze taking UVA here.
- 59:43Are you thinking that Clemson just going to turn off the the,
- 59:49The Supercharged team and let UVA sneak it in?
- 59:54I think. So, what I think is that you VA
- 59:57is a Even though they're not as I think top-end good.
- 1:00:01I think they're a little deeper than they were last year
- 1:00:05especially when they play Clemson.
- 1:00:08So I foresee kind of a almost every time Clemson gets to
- 1:00:14scores. You're going to match that with
- 1:00:16the UVA score. So it's going to kind of come
- 1:00:18out in the end, somewhere between three and four scores.
- 1:00:22And I'm going to just take. Yeah, I'm going to say it's
- 1:00:25going to be just under four scores.
- 1:00:26So okay. therefore, In the words of Lee Corso, not too fast, my
- 1:00:33friend. And this is why I've really, and
- 1:00:40feeling the 28th. Okay?
- 1:00:4429. You found it for me, at least,
- 1:00:48at a better line. Dabo is talking way too highly.
- 1:00:55He a players this week. You got some brand-new
- 1:01:2120. Okay.
- 1:01:23Like light in the same rough ballpark as the Bogut as the ACC
- 1:01:28Championship game playing ball park.
- 1:01:31That was 62 17. Yeah, so that's one of those
- 1:02:51I don't think BYU's a good team. Just some of the things
- 1:02:55Louisiana Tech goes on offense is a little bit funky than what
- 1:02:58BYU has seen to this point. I really wish me why you would
- 1:03:01have played Army because I think that would have told us a lot
- 1:03:05more about BYU because it BYU kind of if they did.
- 1:03:10What since he did to them, you would be like, they're good,
- 1:03:13they're not great, but they're still a really good team but 23
- 1:03:17and a half is a ton delay. That is a Friday night game at
- 1:03:209:00. Me and you will probably have to
- 1:03:22make a decision if we want to watch a lot of football,
- 1:03:26Saturday to watch that game. I probably definitely can't
- 1:03:30because my wife has given me permission.
- 1:03:31I'm playing a round of golf Saturday morning so I'm
- 1:03:34definitely not watch well, if I can sneak her into the cave and
- 1:03:40put it up top, maybe I can be us at on a Washington baseball to
- 1:03:44what you think what you got BYU. I would ever do a brief
- 1:03:48interlude here. I've been talking to him like
- 1:03:50ever since he left the Colts but Pierre to see her.
- 1:03:52Just got to pick six so that game isn't a two-point
- 1:03:58conversion away from being a tight 27, a piece.
- 1:04:01Wow. Well the over is done or the
- 1:04:04other waited. Yeah, the young and I'll get
- 1:04:09back to my I'm going to take BYU.
- 1:04:17I liked what I saw from them in the highlights from last week.
- 1:04:20And some of the I watched a little bit of the first half, so
- 1:04:25I like what I'm seeing from them.
- 1:04:27I think they're going to be able to pour it on similar to what
- 1:04:32they did last week, even with La Tech bringing something a little
- 1:04:35different to the table. So, give me BYU me.
- 1:04:39Why you put it on there, laying a 23 and a half points?
- 1:04:42Yes, sir. All right.
- 1:04:44Right, Braun. Lets go to Tuscaloosa, will let
- 1:04:47you leave this one. Texas A&M Alabama, Bama blow the
- 1:04:52doors off. Missouri last weekend.
- 1:04:53Do shot. Texas A&M only wins by five
- 1:04:57against Vandy. What you got?
- 1:05:02Give Me Bama. That's, that's a 21-point game.
- 1:05:10I'm with you on Bama. I think
- 1:05:27it was their first game. It was vandy's first game.
- 1:05:29Dandy had some of their better players hopped out and you're
- 1:05:33here with Kellen mom. A boat on the talent and you
- 1:05:37beat them by 5 and I know some people are going to bullshit and
- 1:05:40say well they don't want to show them of the whole Playbook dude.
- 1:05:44You should not have to choke anything to beat Vandy by more
- 1:05:49than five points. Truth family and I'll say it
- 1:05:55again. I mean You know, Vandy has a lot
- 1:05:59of similarities to what to Duke's program.
- 1:06:03I mean, and I'd say even in some cases a little bit of a lesser
- 1:06:10competition I really think that am just really kind of shit the
- 1:06:15bed a little bit and let them hang around a lot longer than
- 1:06:19they should have. And I think bamas going to be
- 1:06:22ready and jump over them and it's going to be kind of a big,
- 1:06:27big margin early. I think am maybe does a little
- 1:06:30something to get it back to. Maybe a two touchdown game and
- 1:06:34then Bama closes. I'm out in the All right, CBS
- 1:06:39334 that one. Hopefully I'll be watching it.
- 1:06:45Hey, it will be on one of the little strings.
- 1:06:48All right, let's go to this one. This is going to be high noon.
- 1:06:53Kick in Big 12 country. TCU Texas at Texas.
- 1:06:59This is going to be, I believe on Fox.
- 1:07:02So this game Doom to get cancelled, like every other damn
- 1:07:06big noon game has been canceled on Fox potentially but tea.
- 1:07:11Say that this far maybe it's good.
- 1:07:15He's a Texas laying 11 and a half Point Texas.
- 1:07:20Literally with the fucking miracle win.
- 1:07:22Last week against Texas. Tech North of unbelievable
- 1:07:25things in the last minute there. He see, you took the loss on the
- 1:07:28road at Iowa, State by field goal, you know?
- 1:07:33And that was a good competitive game back-to-back.
- 1:07:37They, you know, they scored the touchdown really late that, you
- 1:07:40know, pull them within But who you got here, bro?
- 1:07:46Oh man. Is this kind of the game that we
- 1:07:51like, if Texas wins it? Are they going to say that Texas
- 1:07:54is back? Like, we hear it every year,
- 1:07:59man. We know that we know, it's going
- 1:08:00to eventually. Come fuck, it TCU wins out,
- 1:08:04right? Oh, TCU wins out.
- 1:08:09Right? Um, I won't know if they're
- 1:08:14going to win outright Brawn, but I'm going to agree with you that
- 1:08:18they're going to lease be within eleven and a half.
- 1:08:21I mean, clearly, we saw last week that against a against a
- 1:08:30good Texas Tech offense that the Longhorns are hemorrhaging
- 1:08:33points, where TCU played a very good Iowa, State Defense and put
- 1:08:3830 plus on, or put 30 plus points on them.
- 1:08:43I think. Man.
- 1:08:46Yeah. TCU with the points I am going
- 1:08:49to see them covering that you're calling out, right when.
- 1:08:53Yeah. And play the money line, let me
- 1:08:56just you know, I'm trying to get Tom fired.
- 1:09:04I don't know, man, cam gets fired and, you know, we go, when
- 1:09:09the ACC them bastards liable to sneak up in the Blacksburg,
- 1:09:15here's 200 million dollars, be our coach.
- 1:09:18And if that happened then, yeah, that's tough to turn down.
- 1:09:22It's true. Alright.
- 1:09:24Alright, final game, definitely the biggest game of the weekend
- 1:09:27number for Georgia number eight Auburn between the hedges.
- 1:09:31Saturday night, ESPN 7, 30 Georgia is laying, let's see.
- 1:09:38You put the line in here, a few minutes ago, six and a half.
- 1:09:42Brian, you load the last one. I'm going to leave this one.
- 1:09:46And I told you earlier this week and I'm still sticking by this
- 1:09:49at this, this is a smelly ass line, smelly-ass line.
- 1:09:54And I'm trying to figure out why it so much.
- 1:09:57When we saw Georgia with our own eyes in the first half against a
- 1:10:02terrible Arkansas, I mean, look like a bulldog shit, literally
- 1:10:08look like bull, dog, shit, and they come back and win.
- 1:10:13And then we see Auburn who's playing as we know from the bowl
- 1:10:16game. A very solid Kentucky team
- 1:10:19really good defensively Terry Wilson's, Back offenses.
- 1:10:23And never going to probably be exactly what it is.
- 1:10:25They lose, 29:13 in the line, six-and-a-half Georgia, if you
- 1:10:31ask me after those those out of been like that's gonna be like a
- 1:10:33two and a A half, maybe a three point five but six and a half
- 1:10:36and I know JT Daniels. They say is back transfer from
- 1:10:41USC. Yep.
- 1:10:43Got it. Got it approved in like two
- 1:10:44weeks. Baa baa baa.
- 1:10:51But this is a problem and I'm and I'm gonna say this, I think
- 1:10:57it's going to be a war. I think Georgia is going to win
- 1:11:03in the last few minutes of this game, but they're not going by
- 1:11:06more than a touchdown. Give me Auburn.
- 1:11:09Give me the six and a half points.
- 1:11:13Okay. I'm right there with you man.
- 1:11:19This thing smells like this Vegas.
- 1:11:21Know that Auburn is going to be missing someone that we don't
- 1:11:23know about. You can buy a phone X and the
- 1:11:27the stud wide receiver, both out, man.
- 1:11:48You know. Just for shits and giggles.
- 1:11:53I'm going to take Georgia to see if I can gain a game on you
- 1:11:56here. Yeah, Giggles, I think it's
- 1:12:03going to be it's going to be a one score game.
- 1:12:05I think ugh of Might squeak by, but I'm going to say they
- 1:12:10squeaked by on a late touchdown, versus a late field goal.
- 1:12:12So let's go. Go, go, let's go.
- 1:12:15Uh-huh. And as we already stated earlier
- 1:12:19a prediction for the Virginia Tech and do you game Bronson's
- 1:12:264220, I say 124 Prime, what you smoking this weekend, man.
- 1:12:36I went to Aldi, they had some some sirloin roast on sale.
- 1:12:41So I got a couple of those bad boys, going to sear them off,
- 1:12:45then leave them at 225 for about an hour and a half.
- 1:12:49Then just close add a and let them get up to about 130 and
- 1:12:55then slice them up. So it's going to be going to be
- 1:12:56some good eats. Probably will come up with
- 1:12:59something to do sidewise, to kind of, kind of a company there
- 1:13:03but maybe some potato skins or something like that.
- 1:13:06So, should be some good eats for for game day, man.
- 1:13:10I'm looking forward to it. Very nice, man.
- 1:13:13Anything breaking other than San Diego, hit another home.
- 1:13:16Run in the bottom of the eighth and now they're up 7:49.
- 1:13:21We actually got a good game on Thursday night despite the 20,
- 1:13:25and three matchups here. So I'm happy people that likes a
- 1:13:32is a terrible game. No one will watch, which is
- 1:13:34gonna be worth, that's what happens.
- 1:13:36You get it. Highly entertaining football
- 1:13:38game on Thursday nights and you know, for those people out there
- 1:13:42who are celebrating the down, the ratings for certain Sports,
- 1:13:48well, here's my piece on that and you know, go a little bit
- 1:13:52out of the box for it. One thing that you're probably
- 1:13:56seeing any downward Trend in ratings That's it's been going
- 1:13:59for the last few years, is streaming services.
- 1:14:01I stream you stream my neighbor to my left streams, my neighbor
- 1:14:06down the street streams. The other piece is this, if
- 1:14:11games are getting hit, you're seeing an abundance of sports on
- 1:14:15TV at any one period of time. Last night yesterday, you had
- 1:14:19eight baseball games along with the NBA Finals.
- 1:14:23The NBA finals. Were is Miami La?
- 1:14:28Yep. The Big East l.a. team, played
- 1:14:30last night, baseball wise. And as much as you want to knock
- 1:14:34the Miami Marlins they played last night against Chicago.
- 1:14:39So, you know, there's going to be people in those markets who
- 1:14:43could be fans of both that are going to go with one of the
- 1:14:45other. Yeah, so the people to go out
- 1:14:48there especially if you're in the business of sports media
- 1:14:51attacking and shitting on these You're real moron.
- 1:14:58You essentially want yourself to be out of a job?
- 1:15:01Yeah, I mean, I'll say this because I mean, I'll say this,
- 1:15:03and this is showing our consistency here.
- 1:15:05We said the same thing. When the media was saying there
- 1:15:08shouldn't be any false for us and we're saying the same thing.
- 1:15:10Now, why are people in the media essentially, trying to
- 1:15:16manufacture their own demise with these Doom and Gloom
- 1:15:20situations? I can't, I can't get it.
- 1:15:24Get away from it, man. Anyone that's out there,
- 1:15:28actively cheering for sports to have low ratings so that their
- 1:15:35political opinion looks more favorable.
- 1:15:39Like what are you doing, man? Like, why I want you to do
- 1:15:44something. You've done this.
- 1:15:46As long as I've known you. What's the line for Gilbert
- 1:15:49Godfrey and Problem Child, here are more on, you're a moron.
- 1:15:55You know what? You are a moron.
