- 0:41SPEAKER_00: He had me a whiskey sister.
- 0:43SPEAKER_01: Yeah, we're gonna talk about whiskey.

- 0:46SPEAKER_00: I'm great.
- 0:46SPEAKER_00: You look good.
- 0:47SPEAKER_00: Thank you.
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: I'm good.
- 0:49SPEAKER_00: You look amazing.
- 0:50SPEAKER_00: Thank you.
- 0:50SPEAKER_00: Is this your first CRS?
- 0:52SPEAKER_01: No, I've been to CRS a few times.
- 0:55SPEAKER_01: But I just recently dropped an album, so I saw.
- 0:59SPEAKER_01: Let's talk about it.
- 1:00SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's called Lace.
- 1:01SPEAKER_00: It's first of all, you looked at the book.
- 1:04SPEAKER_00: I tried to overcome.
- 1:05SPEAKER_00: As soon as I saw you, I'm like, she's mad, you're coloring coloring in the line.
- 1:08SPEAKER_00: She's got it all going.
- 1:10SPEAKER_00: I'm really proud of you.
- 1:11SPEAKER_00: Thank you.
- 1:11SPEAKER_00: I'm glad you noticed.
- 1:12SPEAKER_00: It takes a lot of effort to look this ridiculous.
- 1:15SPEAKER_00: I'm no kidding.
- 1:16SPEAKER_00: I put these pants on and I was like a little worried, and then I saw her first thing.
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: She's like, I love the pants, and now the pants have been the center of the day, so I'm like, Yeah, I'm fucking sleeping in these pants tonight.
- 1:26SPEAKER_00: There's no shit.
- 1:26SPEAKER_00: These pants are going everywhere.
- 1:27SPEAKER_00: Well, that would be awesome.
- 1:30SPEAKER_00: This summer, it's going everywhere.
- 1:32SPEAKER_01: Tell me how the album's going.
- 1:34SPEAKER_01: Album's going great.
- 1:35SPEAKER_01: We just released it, like I said.
- 1:36SPEAKER_01: I had an album release party at a church.
- 1:39SPEAKER_01: It was so vibey.
- 1:40SPEAKER_01: Like the album.
- 1:41SPEAKER_00: You know the next album release party.
- 1:42SPEAKER_00: You have to invite Happy Hour.
- 1:44SPEAKER_00: Okay, yeah.
- 1:45SPEAKER_00: Well, usually I mean you should have been there.
- 1:47SPEAKER_00: I love a good party.
- 1:49SPEAKER_01: This this whole album, this this time last year, I was engaged and I called my wedding off about two weeks after this time.
- 1:58SPEAKER_01: Sorry.
- 1:58SPEAKER_01: No, it's okay.
- 1:59SPEAKER_01: This whole album is just kind of the journey of falling in love, falling out of love, and then the redemption of standing up for yourself and the faith and the resilience.
- 2:09SPEAKER_01: Even I even took my veil because I had already bought the dress and everything.
- 2:14SPEAKER_01: Of course, I took it to the desert.
- 2:16SPEAKER_01: We shot everything in Joshua Tree, and the cover is my veil.
- 2:21SPEAKER_01: What?
- 2:21SPEAKER_01: And um right now I'm releasing, I made a movie and I scripted out kind of this drama of every single song tying together.
- 2:29SPEAKER_01: So I'm releasing that right now.
- 2:31SPEAKER_01: We're on episode two, but I release about seven, like five to seven short points before the episode comes out.
- 2:38SPEAKER_00: So how was that in your healing process?
- 2:40SPEAKER_00: Did that really help you heal?
- 2:42SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna tell you, it's been it was up and down because I did a healing process when I thought I was ready to kind of explain what happened.
- 2:49SPEAKER_01: Because obviously, when you're announced by People magazine and then it doesn't happen, you're just like, well, they don't shit right anyway.
- 2:58SPEAKER_01: But we're not together.
- 2:59SPEAKER_01: It's people magazine.
- 3:00SPEAKER_01: But um, I was doing a healing journey and I ended up wearing my wedding dress.
- 3:05SPEAKER_01: I tried it on when I bought it, um, after I bought it.
- 3:08SPEAKER_01: So I ordered it, paid for it, had to go pick it up.
- 3:12SPEAKER_01: And that was like a day I wasn't I wasn't it's it's teary, but I got there, my mom was there, and then I posted a quick thing, and I was like, I'm glad I tried it on because it's like ripping the band-aid off.
- 3:24SPEAKER_01: And I got like five million, like the biggest thing I've kind of ever posted, and and all your stories about what they had been through was super encouraging.
- 3:38SPEAKER_01: Now, man, to know you're not alone and busy is like it's so true.
- 3:43SPEAKER_01: And everyone's like, you're so strong for stopping it now.
- 3:47SPEAKER_00: It is so much braver.
- 3:50SPEAKER_00: It takes so much courage to to stop the steamroller, yeah, knowing it's not it's going off a cliff than it would have ever been to go through it and not know where you're gonna end up on the other side.
- 4:02SPEAKER_01: I think people get, especially the women, we're afraid to cancel the wedding after the invitations come out.
- 4:07SPEAKER_01: But I was like, those are 200 people that should be there for us.
- 4:11SPEAKER_01: Amen.
- 4:12SPEAKER_00: Amen.
- 4:12SPEAKER_00: And the reason they were on the list was because of something else.
- 4:16SPEAKER_00: And they want my happiness, absolutely.
- 4:18SPEAKER_00: So I went through a a life-changing divorce.
- 4:21SPEAKER_00: Um I was married, yeah.
- 4:23SPEAKER_00: I know it really does, but you know, things happen for a reason.
- 4:28SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you know, like especially when you think your life is on the trajectory that like this is what it's gonna turn out.
- 4:34SPEAKER_00: But man makes plans and God loves.
- 4:37SPEAKER_00: He really does.
- 4:39SPEAKER_00: But I'm and you'll do you have somebody now?
- 4:41SPEAKER_01: Are you dating?
- 4:42SPEAKER_01: No, I I I'm happier by myself right now.
- 4:45SPEAKER_01: It takes me a long time to when I'm because when I finally say I'm done, I've like probably stayed at least two too many months long, right?
- 4:55SPEAKER_00: Find me a woman that doesn't do that.
- 4:57SPEAKER_00: But I think it's so that we know more fixers.
- 5:00SPEAKER_01: But I I I think there's something good about that so that we we don't um regret anything.
- 5:06SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
- 5:07SPEAKER_01: So there's that part of it, but I think the healing part takes a little bit longer just because we're like, how do you trust again?
- 5:13SPEAKER_00: How do you trust again?
- 5:14SPEAKER_01: I mean, I have two wonderful parents, high school sweethearts.
- 5:17SPEAKER_01: I love it.
- 5:18SPEAKER_01: I have the example, yeah, and I think that's why my foundation was extremely strong.
- 5:23SPEAKER_01: And I think that's why I was able to say, I'm done.
- 5:26SPEAKER_00: And what better way to express it than in your music?
- 5:29SPEAKER_00: Because that music is now healing somebody else.
- 5:32SPEAKER_01: And maybe him.
- 5:33SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 5:35SPEAKER_01: You big dummy.
- 5:36SPEAKER_00: Yes, you big dummy.
- 5:38SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I mean, it's it's gotta be hard to look back.
- 5:41SPEAKER_00: I remarried.
- 5:42SPEAKER_00: Like I was the chick that was never going to.
- 5:45SPEAKER_00: I was missing years after your.
- 5:47SPEAKER_00: Oh, not many.
- 5:48SPEAKER_00: It was very close.
- 5:49SPEAKER_00: But I'm I've my divorce took seven years.
- 5:51SPEAKER_00: Oh it took a long time.
- 5:53SPEAKER_00: I ended up in a j in a trial with the man I had a kid with, right?
- 5:58SPEAKER_00: We're great friends now, you know.
- 6:00SPEAKER_00: We're honestly, it it was at the time, as you know, it didn't feel like it was unfolding like that.
- 6:07SPEAKER_00: At the time, I mean I remember feeling like I if I can just keep my head above water, yeah.
- 6:11SPEAKER_00: Because I didn't know what my life was gonna look like without that.
- 6:14SPEAKER_00: It's so scary.
- 6:15SPEAKER_00: You know, it's so scary, but I mean, I applaud you.
- 6:18SPEAKER_00: There's so many women watching this going, yeah, she's like XX because like it is scary.
- 6:23SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you know, we worry too much about what people think of us.
- 6:27SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's the hardest thing is worrying about it.
- 6:30SPEAKER_01: But I think like I think another part, like on the voice and stuff, like when I was there only three years ago now.
- 6:38SPEAKER_01: Who were the judges when you were there?
- 6:40SPEAKER_01: Um Camila Blake, Camila Cabello, who's mine, Blake Shelton, uh Gwen Sofani, and John Legend.
- 6:46SPEAKER_01: Wow.
- 6:47SPEAKER_01: And the cool thing though, I think because you're you're in such an anxious situation for like, because I made it, I was runner up by the end of this thing.
- 7:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I'm glad I didn't win it.
- 7:01SPEAKER_01: Yeah, how good.
- 7:02SPEAKER_01: But they never even announced who like second and third were, and we were like, what?
- 7:09SPEAKER_01: But either way, uh American Idol does that.
- 7:11SPEAKER_01: There's I don't know if they do or not.
- 7:13SPEAKER_01: There's such an anxiousness, and I almost fell in the finale, like I tripped on my thing, and you know, when you're in that pressure cooker for so long, you've already been judged so much.
- 7:24SPEAKER_01: So I think that kind of was like, Well, what happened?
- 7:29SPEAKER_01: And so I did it give you resilience?
- 7:32SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah, perseverance, resilience, perspective.
- 7:37SPEAKER_01: You know, you you've got to sit outside yourself and always go, what's what are these feelings now?
- 7:42SPEAKER_01: Do I deal with some failure and rejection from like being in Nashville and being a female on country music and being on that, yeah.
- 7:51SPEAKER_01: But you have to try to work throughout all the time.
- 7:55SPEAKER_01: Are you where are you from originally?
- 7:56SPEAKER_00: Originally in Pennsylvania.
- 7:57SPEAKER_00: Where's Williamsport?
- 7:59SPEAKER_00: Oh my goodness.
- 8:00SPEAKER_00: I am from Bucks County, Pennsylvania.
- 8:01SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 8:02SPEAKER_00: Yeah, best Philly girl.
- 8:04SPEAKER_00: Shout out to the girls from Philly, man.
- 8:06SPEAKER_00: It's hysterical when you when you work here, because I work here and when I tell people I'm originally from Texas, but when I tell people that I work in Nashville, it's like they're either like, oh, that's so great, or like, wow, you work in a country music.
- 8:19SPEAKER_00: It's like like it's a whole different world.
- 8:21SPEAKER_00: We are a different world.
- 8:22SPEAKER_00: And the East Coast is such a rat race.
- 8:25SPEAKER_01: How long have you been here in I've been I've been here now 20 years, so I was like 20 years old.
- 8:32SPEAKER_01: Thank you.
- 8:33unknown: Good for you.
- 8:34SPEAKER_01: I got here, it's five seconds.
- 8:36SPEAKER_01: I've I've loved living here.
- 8:38SPEAKER_01: I've always loved the songwriting scene.
- 8:41SPEAKER_01: That's where you had to really learn and craft your three-minute movie.
- 8:44SPEAKER_01: So absolutely.
- 8:46SPEAKER_01: Who's your biggest inspiration?
- 8:48SPEAKER_01: I would like I would say when I I my very first big gig, we ended up um opening.
- 8:55SPEAKER_01: I was playing utility for this girl that was opening for Reba, McIntyre.
- 9:00SPEAKER_01: Reba has come up a lot today.
- 9:01SPEAKER_00: Reba must be in the room because she's come up a lot today.
- 9:04SPEAKER_01: Well, she's just so genuine.
- 9:06SPEAKER_01: I just I think that's the thing, like those people that remain that humble and genuine, I think it's because of the tenure town formula that I was brought up in, and it's like by the time you make it to the opera, you're so humbled.
- 9:20SPEAKER_01: And you're as an artist in country music, our job is to be that vessel of humility and our country and our faith and our values.
- 9:29SPEAKER_01: I love that so much, and patriotism, and she she embodies that she was so kind to me, it wasn't the easiest tour, and she was like a mama bear.
- 9:38SPEAKER_01: She ended up doing the voice for me for B-roll and stuff.
- 9:41SPEAKER_01: Because I was like, I have to show you created a friendship with a woman.
- 9:46SPEAKER_01: She taught me how to use in-ears, their whole team did, and then like her band ended up playing for me a lot at the beginning and recording with me and writing with me, and so anytime I wanted to sit on rehearsal just to learn, they let me.
- 10:00SPEAKER_00: So they didn't have to do that.
- 10:02SPEAKER_00: No, so no.
- 10:03SPEAKER_00: I love the you know, the country music aspect of I love that this community, and it is a community, you know, and I love that I never hear like a jealousy or I could have been there better or whatever.
- 10:14SPEAKER_00: Like, I love that you support each other and lift each other up.
- 10:18SPEAKER_00: I think it's just such a it's so humbling to me to come here and sit with people like you who've done incredible things and realize that they're you're still willing to give your talent and your heart and your to you know to interviews.
- 10:32SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you know, I think that's so amazing, and I'm like I'm honored that you're here.
- 10:37SPEAKER_00: I really honored that you'd have a thing.
- 10:39SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh, don't worry, we love everybody.
- 10:41SPEAKER_00: But yeah, and I think that's incredible.
- 10:43SPEAKER_00: So what's next?
- 10:44SPEAKER_00: Tell me what five years down the road looks like.
- 10:46SPEAKER_01: Gosh, I hope I am just still doing music and I I hope I'm working with the people that I just enjoy working with and being creative and not caring so much about social media um just because it's balanced.
- 11:02SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 11:03SPEAKER_00: Do you do who handles yours?
- 11:05SPEAKER_01: I do because you can't really be disconnected from it.
- 11:09SPEAKER_01: Um, I do have two people that help me, but you you can try a thousand different ways, and and it's just the toughest thing because you do want it to feel like you, and it's so important for me to be authentic.
- 11:22SPEAKER_00: And it's ever changing.
- 11:24SPEAKER_01: Oh, I know, right?
- 11:25SPEAKER_00: Every platform.
- 11:27SPEAKER_00: And it's so funny because you performed you know in front of large numbers, and I've interviewed so many people, but yet when somebody puts a camera right here and tells me to say something, I'm like, Yeah, it's weird because you like having conversations.
- 11:41SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 11:42SPEAKER_00: You like that human connection.
- 11:44SPEAKER_00: I totally do.
- 11:45SPEAKER_00: By trade, I am a coach.
- 11:47SPEAKER_01: So we're not comfortable being like, hey guys, I totally not.
- 11:51SPEAKER_01: But we're trying.
- 11:52SPEAKER_00: I will start a conga line at a wedding, but I will like shooting bills makes me want to kill myself.
- 11:59SPEAKER_00: And my husband's like, I'm like, it's content day.
- 12:01SPEAKER_00: He's like, oh, it's content day.
- 12:03SPEAKER_00: You know, because I live a business, I'm a I'm a coach and I'm a therapist, and um I work with people, and that's like to me, this is authentic.
- 12:12SPEAKER_00: Yeah, this is like the this is the job where the shoe fits.
- 12:15SPEAKER_01: And the other one, you know, telling, I just worry about because I felt it myself, and I'm I'm trying to construct a cool thing, like this walk or something.
- 12:24SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 12:25SPEAKER_01: Where I want to spread swag a girl.
- 12:28SPEAKER_01: I do well swagger.
- 12:29SPEAKER_01: No, no, no, a walk like a movement.
- 12:31SPEAKER_01: Oh I know it's this whole thing, it's hard, but for me, I want to make sure that, especially more in rural parts of American stuff, that they know that what social media can do to your mental health, even from somebody that's had to deal with it in different types of ways.
- 12:49SPEAKER_01: Because we talk a lot about it on this show, and it brings you down and totally and you're in your head, and I just can't imagine say if I was like a middle schooler trying to navigate that type of like situation, because people have to know, you gotta start the conversation absolutely with your kids.
- 13:10SPEAKER_00: Well, we've lost a whole generation of this.
- 13:12SPEAKER_00: The people that sit and look people in the eye and shake hands, and because we've become a society of this.
- 13:20SPEAKER_00: You know, we don't have neck problems.
- 13:21SPEAKER_00: We're oh no shit, we are.
- 13:23SPEAKER_00: We'll get a good chiropractor, you and I.
- 13:25SPEAKER_00: You wear that dress, we'll find a wine.
- 13:26SPEAKER_00: We'll have a glass of wine.
- 13:27SPEAKER_00: We'll have a glass of wine, we'll find a good chiropractor.
- 13:29SPEAKER_00: We'll have a neck brace on a neck brace.
- 13:31SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 13:32SPEAKER_00: I'm not getting any younger, and these pants are so heavy.
- 13:34SPEAKER_00: So, like, literally, I don't lose 10 pounds this week.
- 13:38SPEAKER_00: Like, I'm not I'm not even going home.
- 13:40SPEAKER_00: I'm not even getting on a flight back to Philadelphia.
- 13:42SPEAKER_00: Oh my god, it's 10 pounds dinner.
- 13:44SPEAKER_00: You look great.
- 13:44SPEAKER_00: Oh, thank you.
- 13:45SPEAKER_00: You know, I'm a grandmom.
- 13:46SPEAKER_00: I just became a grandmom.
- 13:48SPEAKER_00: And you don't.
- 13:48SPEAKER_00: Look like a grandma.
- 13:50SPEAKER_00: Look at Japan.
- 13:51SPEAKER_00: So my girl, I roll as 29.
- 13:53SPEAKER_00: I wake up every day, I'm like, happy 29th birthday.
- 13:56SPEAKER_00: I like that, Deb.
- 13:57SPEAKER_00: Oh, I totally live in my own head.
- 13:58SPEAKER_00: My husband's like, she's on a planet.
- 14:01SPEAKER_00: And he says all the time, he's like, I want to live a day in Deb's head.
- 14:05SPEAKER_00: Just to feel what it's like to not be shit.
- 14:08SPEAKER_00: Like, what did she like?
- 14:10SPEAKER_00: I just want to live or be, but you just don't give a shit what other people think.
- 14:13SPEAKER_00: I like that.
- 14:14SPEAKER_00: How to live like.
- 14:14SPEAKER_00: It's like a long time though, to get to the point where you know you don't give a shit.
- 14:20SPEAKER_00: So here's a funny story.
- 14:22SPEAKER_00: But I started this podcast, right?
- 14:23SPEAKER_00: And then you know it's on social media.
- 14:25SPEAKER_00: I have the best team in media, like I love them so much.
- 14:27SPEAKER_00: The only reason the show's great is because they're great and you guys are great, and the show's not about me anyway, so um, it's not about me.
- 14:34SPEAKER_00: It's totally not about me, right?
- 14:36SPEAKER_00: No, it's not.
- 14:36SPEAKER_00: It's it's a platform for all of them.
- 14:38SPEAKER_00: The same thing that I feel about music.
- 14:39SPEAKER_00: Right, it's not for me, you know, it's for everybody else.
- 14:42SPEAKER_00: But it's so funny because they have this thing called classmates, and it's like a where you can reconnect with people from high school, and as soon as I started the show, like every day it's like you have 60 inboxes, and I'm like, you sons of bitches.
- 14:55SPEAKER_00: Like, I remember hating being in high school, and all of a sudden, you know, you got a little platform, and everybody's like, You look amazing.
- 15:05SPEAKER_00: I'm like, suck it.
- 15:07SPEAKER_00: It's the truth, it is, it's so true.
- 15:09SPEAKER_00: It's gonna be me when I'm daddy.
- 15:12SPEAKER_00: It's so true, and I never opened it.
- 15:13SPEAKER_00: Like, I'm not going to see, and my brother and I are we're Irish twins, we're three days short of a year apart.
- 15:19SPEAKER_00: Wow.
- 15:19SPEAKER_00: Who do you think it is?
- 15:20SPEAKER_00: I'm like, I don't care who it is.
- 15:22SPEAKER_00: Doesn't matter.
- 15:22SPEAKER_00: Like, you didn't give me one I owed in high school, and now all of a sudden, you know.
- 15:26SPEAKER_00: But you know, when you're in this industry, well, I'm small potatoes, but like people ask you for favors that you're like Yeah, and I usually say yes.
- 15:34SPEAKER_01: I'm I'm an easy yes person.
- 15:36SPEAKER_00: Or the people pleaser?
- 15:37SPEAKER_00: Oh yeah.
- 15:38SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I gotta work on both.
- 15:39SPEAKER_01: I gotta work on that.
- 15:40SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 15:40SPEAKER_00: I gotta work on that.
- 15:41SPEAKER_00: We'll go out to lunch one day and I'll teach you everything you need to know about saying no.
- 15:44SPEAKER_00: No is a complete sentence.
- 15:46SPEAKER_00: I want you to remember that more.
- 15:47SPEAKER_00: No is a complete sentence.
- 15:48SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 15:48SPEAKER_00: You're allowed to tell people no.
- 15:50SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 15:51SPEAKER_00: Well, you are absolutely a delight.
- 15:53SPEAKER_00: Will you come back and give me a full hour you interview once?
