- 0:09Speaker 1: Hello again, everyone. Welcome to another edition of Inside the Birds.
- 0:13Speaker 1: This is the road show with the Checko and Kaplan.
- 0:16Speaker 1: Andrew and I are here for the Eagles two joint
- 0:18Speaker 1: practices in Foxborough. Andrew is joining me here. And Andrew,
- 0:24Speaker 1: we're doing this post practice on Wednesday, the first of
- 0:28Speaker 1: two practices up here. I know you were here up
- 0:29Speaker 1: here two years ago. The last time Andrew I was
- 0:32Speaker 1: here was three years ago. I believe it was when
- 0:35Speaker 1: the Panthers were being hosted by the Patriots. But you're
- 0:38Speaker 1: back here in front of a sellout crowd. Andrew. Let's
- 0:41Speaker 1: get your first impressions of the practice.
- 0:44Speaker 2: Well.
- 0:45Speaker 3: I think context is important here because there's your vantage
- 0:48Speaker 3: points a little bit different than what it is when
- 0:50Speaker 3: you're watching practice at the Jefferson Health Training Complex. You're
- 0:53Speaker 3: standing on top of the hill or in the middle
- 0:55Speaker 3: of the hill, and you're right behind one of the fields.
- 0:59Speaker 3: A lot of acts going on in another field, so
- 1:01Speaker 3: you kind of have to do some split duties. If
- 1:04Speaker 3: you want to see the Eagles defense, they're on one field.
- 1:06Speaker 3: If you want to see the Eagles first team offense,
- 1:09Speaker 3: they're on another field. You want to see one on ones,
- 1:11Speaker 3: they might be on another field. So you have to
- 1:13Speaker 3: really go into it with a plan of tech of
- 1:15Speaker 3: what you want to focus on, and I think we
- 1:17Speaker 3: did a pretty good job doing that. There was a
- 1:20Speaker 3: lot to break down. It was an over two hour
- 1:23Speaker 3: practice and they're back at it tomorrow.
- 1:25Speaker 1: Yeah, So what I like to do is I like
- 1:28Speaker 1: to focus in on two or three things that I
- 1:30Speaker 1: come in wanting to watch. I want to watch the
- 1:33Speaker 1: Eagles offensive line. That's specifically a run game, because we
- 1:36Speaker 1: know the Eagles offense will start with the run game,
- 1:39Speaker 1: but that's the way they're going to win if the
- 1:41Speaker 1: run game could could come back. So I wanted to
- 1:43Speaker 1: watch that. I want to see the quarterbacks, see the receivers,
- 1:47Speaker 1: and I want to see the cornerback group. Because you
- 1:49Speaker 1: and Andrew and I were talking for the last twenty
- 1:51Speaker 1: four hours. Egal's depth of corners. The quality is not
- 1:54Speaker 1: very good. I mean, they've got johnthan Jones, who's an
- 1:56Speaker 1: older player who didn't work. Okay, they got a got
- 2:00Speaker 1: that out because you never want to be one injury
- 2:02Speaker 1: away from being in trouble. So we watched that, and
- 2:04Speaker 1: I know you and I exchange notes on that, but
- 2:07Speaker 1: you know, overall, I try to see you can't watch everything.
- 2:09Speaker 1: It's impossible. You can't. As Andrews said, we're in the
- 2:11Speaker 1: middle of two fields. Like if you're watching this on YouTube,
- 2:15Speaker 1: he goes defenses to our right. Offense is literally right
- 2:19Speaker 1: in front of us, so you can see a lot
- 2:21Speaker 1: of it or most of it right, but you can't
- 2:23Speaker 1: watch both at the same time. Although it's cool though,
- 2:26Speaker 1: when one would end and then you could watch the
- 2:29Speaker 1: other one, that play might go off, so you could
- 2:31Speaker 1: see the whole play. They come back, but it doesn't
- 2:33Speaker 1: happen enough. But let's let's get started off.
- 2:36Speaker 2: On Thursday, I may go to the other side, you
- 2:39Speaker 2: know what I.
- 2:39Speaker 1: Want to do. Yeah, I saw my guy Greg Board
- 2:42Speaker 1: from Boston Sports Journal. I didn't see him doing it,
- 2:45Speaker 1: but I read a couple of things. He puts a
- 2:47Speaker 1: free version of his website out, and I'm like, he's
- 2:50Speaker 1: watching these one on ones of their offensive lineman. He's
- 2:53Speaker 1: raving that Will Campbell. I'm like, man, how's he doing that? Because,
- 2:55Speaker 1: because as you just said, we're you know, I'm trying
- 2:58Speaker 1: to see both at the same time. So he did
- 3:00Speaker 1: because he's a Patriots guy. Is he wanted to see
- 3:03Speaker 1: that and that's great. But anyway, let's get started an offense,
- 3:06Speaker 1: so Andrew, just watching the quarterbacks, the timing still is
- 3:10Speaker 1: a challenge, There's no question about it. Overall. What were
- 3:13Speaker 1: your thoughts on what you saw from the offense.
- 3:16Speaker 3: I thought the running game had some signs of promise there,
- 3:18Speaker 3: particularly Saquon Barkley. Will Shipley had some nice runs there.
- 3:22Speaker 3: I particularly went around the right side. But I thought
- 3:26Speaker 3: the running game looked okay. The passing game, to me,
- 3:29Speaker 3: still leaves something to be desired, still room for improvement there.
- 3:33Speaker 3: As you outlined. I didn't think the timing was always great,
- 3:36Speaker 3: but there were moments, and there are moments in any
- 3:38Speaker 3: practice that you could find good timing throws. But I
- 3:41Speaker 3: thought for the large sample size that we got to see,
- 3:44Speaker 3: I didn't think that there was there was a ton there.
- 3:47Speaker 3: I could, off the top of my head think of
- 3:49Speaker 3: two big plays in the passing game, one to Elijah Moore, and.
- 3:53Speaker 2: There was another one too. Maybe it was Shipley. I don't,
- 3:58Speaker 2: I don't, really, I'm drawing a blanket.
- 4:02Speaker 1: It might have been a wheel because Shipley had a
- 4:06Speaker 1: really good practice catching the football. And we'll get to
- 4:09Speaker 1: the outside zone runs which we noted. But yeah, I
- 4:12Speaker 1: saw that now then the more one would happen. I
- 4:14Speaker 1: don't even think the throw supposed to be to him
- 4:16Speaker 1: because he looked right and he waited because you can't
- 4:18Speaker 1: touch the quarterback and Hurts made a beautiful throw down field,
- 4:21Speaker 1: but more was wide open. Did he spike it or
- 4:24Speaker 1: throw it out of can't remember what.
- 4:25Speaker 3: I think he threw it over the fence, yeah, which
- 4:28Speaker 3: is it's not like over the fence like the sandlot.
- 4:30Speaker 3: It's a fence that you could still like so it
- 4:33Speaker 3: rolls down to the bottom and somebody could grab it.
- 4:35Speaker 1: But yeah, exactly exactly.
- 4:36Speaker 2: Because we had to walk up. We had to walk
- 4:38Speaker 2: up that hill and did.
- 4:39Speaker 1: Yeah, it's interesting. That's how I left the practice which started, well,
- 4:44Speaker 1: it's interesting it started at ten to fifteen when they
- 4:46Speaker 1: both teams work together. A little bit after that, like
- 4:50Speaker 1: for Eagles were on a field down below. There's it's
- 4:53Speaker 1: like a two tiered situation. They worked out on their own,
- 4:57Speaker 1: just their team for fifteen to twenty minutes. Then they
- 5:00Speaker 1: they walked up first and then media walked up to
- 5:02Speaker 1: the big practice fields above, and you're getting with their offense,
- 5:08Speaker 1: the Eagles offense versus the Patriot defense. The Egles run
- 5:11Speaker 1: a game was phenomenal. I mean the the the outside
- 5:14Speaker 1: zone runs because Shipley and Barklay are so explosive. And
- 5:17Speaker 1: the only problem is sometimes had a double check because
- 5:20Speaker 1: John Clark was standing next to me. Whoever it was,
- 5:21Speaker 1: it might have been you, hey, wait, it's that twenty
- 5:23Speaker 1: six or twenty eight because I couldn't tell.
- 5:26Speaker 2: Because well they're built they're built differently, right right, But.
- 5:29Speaker 1: No, but if you're if if he's running thirty yards downfield,
- 5:33Speaker 1: I need to know whether there's six or eight, like
- 5:35Speaker 1: I need to know that, yeah, right, right right. So
- 5:38Speaker 1: I like the outside zone stuff. Some of the mid
- 5:41Speaker 1: zone stuff I thought was great. Running inside Barclay had
- 5:44Speaker 1: a great it was one cut wiggle and he got
- 5:48Speaker 1: through again. Now what you can't tackle him to the ground.
- 5:51Speaker 1: But what happens is they will try to grab you.
- 5:55Speaker 1: It's a thud, yeah, I thought, but they grab you right.
- 5:57Speaker 1: The thud is you can't take them to the ground.
- 5:59Speaker 1: But it's an elbow, it's a shoulder. They want you
- 6:02Speaker 1: to feel it. So I thought that was good. Herts
- 6:05Speaker 1: and the passing game totally uneven.
- 6:09Speaker 3: And by the way, there was a lot of interior
- 6:11Speaker 3: pressure that New England was able to generate.
- 6:13Speaker 2: I thought Milton Williams had a nice practice.
- 6:15Speaker 3: Christian Barrymore had a nice practice, at least on initial viewing,
- 6:19Speaker 3: of course.
- 6:20Speaker 2: And I think a lot of that.
- 6:21Speaker 3: When you see Jalen hold the ball as long as
- 6:23Speaker 3: he did, I mean that that's a second game, yes,
- 6:26Speaker 3: and I thought that sometimes that pressure affected their ability
- 6:30Speaker 3: to push the ball down the field. There was a
- 6:32Speaker 3: lot of short dump offs and mid range completions as
- 6:35Speaker 3: a result.
- 6:36Speaker 1: Yeah, context on that, So Andrew, you know, I saw
- 6:40Speaker 1: your injury report. Davante Smith did individual work before practice started.
- 6:45Speaker 1: He looks fine. I watched him. Mkayk Lemon didn't practice.
- 6:49Speaker 1: What happened is after practice. I saw him working like
- 6:52Speaker 1: he's funny because he he had a hoodie on it.
- 6:54Speaker 1: He didn't have a helmet. But what I did watch
- 6:57Speaker 1: after practice, I was like, Wow, he's actually he's moving
- 7:00Speaker 1: pretty well. So what do you know about the Lemon situation.
- 7:04Speaker 3: Well, he's trending in the right direction. He was working
- 7:07Speaker 3: on Monday's practice. I'm getting all my days mixed up
- 7:10Speaker 3: here towards the end, so it seems like he's sort
- 7:14Speaker 3: of ramping up towards being available and the hamstring injuries
- 7:18Speaker 3: are so fickle, as you know, that's not something that
- 7:21Speaker 3: you want to run the risk of returning him early.
- 7:24Speaker 3: Then you have to maybe start the whole process over again. Yes,
- 7:26Speaker 3: so I think the fact that he is out there,
- 7:29Speaker 3: he's been on the drugs machine for the last several
- 7:31Speaker 3: practices before practice, and then now he's starting to get
- 7:34Speaker 3: a little bit of work on the side, which is
- 7:36Speaker 3: what you want to see. These practices are so important
- 7:40Speaker 3: and he's missing out on a lot of reps. But
- 7:43Speaker 3: the last thing you want to do is rush him
- 7:44Speaker 3: back to the point where maybe there's a reaggravation and
- 7:47Speaker 3: then again the time the clock starts all over again.
- 7:50Speaker 1: Right, So, as we look at their depth chart and
- 7:52Speaker 1: how they've been rotated specifically in this practice, which is
- 7:56Speaker 1: really a starter, there's no question Lemon's too far behind.
- 8:00Speaker 1: But one of the developments, Andrew, we got to talk
- 8:02Speaker 1: about it. Alajamore really active, Hollywood Brown more active. Darius
- 8:07Speaker 1: Cooper to me, he does rotate in with the twos,
- 8:11Speaker 1: and he did have some work with the ones late
- 8:13Speaker 1: in practice in the two minute offense, but for most
- 8:17Speaker 1: of practice Moore and Brown were over him. What do
- 8:19Speaker 1: you make of this Daris Cooper situation.
- 8:22Speaker 2: Yeah, that's really the way that it's been.
- 8:25Speaker 3: It's been like that maybe for a week or so,
- 8:27Speaker 3: where you can clearly see the group that they're rowing out,
- 8:31Speaker 3: and that's Hollywood Brown, Down, Tavian Wicks, and Elijah Moore.
- 8:34Speaker 3: It's hard to put my finger on it because Cooper
- 8:37Speaker 3: seemingly has done everything that you could want in practice.
- 8:41Speaker 3: Makes the catches when the ball comes his way, he blocks,
- 8:44Speaker 3: he plays hard, and he just seems to do everything
- 8:48Speaker 3: the right way. But we're also not in the meeting rooms,
- 8:51Speaker 3: so there's other things that maybe we're not privy to.
- 8:54Speaker 3: But it just seems right now that they like what
- 8:56Speaker 3: Elijah Moore is bringing to the table maybe a little
- 8:59Speaker 3: bit more, and they're working him in the mix a
- 9:01Speaker 3: little bit. But we'll have to we'll get a clearer picture,
- 9:05Speaker 3: maybe based off of the snap share in this preseason game.
- 9:08Speaker 3: But I mean, I'm here to tell you you can
- 9:10Speaker 3: say it as well, Darius Cooper's had a really good
- 9:12Speaker 3: training camp. I know there's no real rhyme or reason
- 9:15Speaker 3: that's very apparent, at least in my estimation now.
- 9:19Speaker 1: I but I could just tell you this number nineteen
- 9:21Speaker 1: to Lodgenmore showed up big time in Wednesday's practice. He
- 9:24Speaker 1: was everywhere in a lot of plays. It wasn't just
- 9:27Speaker 1: the deep route down the left, I mean short area
- 9:31Speaker 1: of quickness, run after the catch really good. Hollywood Brown
- 9:33Speaker 1: had a number of catches over the middle, short area.
- 9:36Speaker 1: We're not seeing the nine routes with him. I don't
- 9:38Speaker 1: quite know what to do.
- 9:40Speaker 2: Yeah, and that's been like that. That's been like that
- 9:42Speaker 2: all summer.
- 9:42Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 9:43Speaker 3: It's even more curious because it's been that way every
- 9:47Speaker 3: stop of the way for him. They've never used him
- 9:49Speaker 3: as a deep threat despite him having four to three speed.
- 9:53Speaker 3: They Eagles haven't really tapped into it either. He's been
- 9:56Speaker 3: really good.
- 9:57Speaker 2: Well.
- 9:57Speaker 3: There was a moment on Monday's practice is where he
- 10:00Speaker 3: caught the football right in front of a Reek wall
- 10:02Speaker 3: and had a sense for where he was and was
- 10:05Speaker 3: able to maneuver and create yards after the catch. Just
- 10:08Speaker 3: has a really decent feel for space. I think that's
- 10:11Speaker 3: where his short area quickness really shows up. But you
- 10:14Speaker 3: want to see the vertical element of his game tapped
- 10:17Speaker 3: into a little bit more because that could unlock a
- 10:19Speaker 3: different element of this Eagles offense.
- 10:22Speaker 1: No doubt about it. Look at the tight End group.
- 10:26Speaker 1: You know we've talked a lot about Eli Stowers. I
- 10:28Speaker 1: mean we probably need to keep emphasizing this. This is
- 10:31Speaker 1: only his fourth years at tight End. He needs to
- 10:33Speaker 1: build his body up because people keep asking us about
- 10:36Speaker 1: this on our YouTube comment and and I know our
- 10:39Speaker 1: Patreon members are asking us about it. What's the Stowars role?
- 10:43Speaker 1: And I keep telling people zach Ertz played forty one
- 10:47Speaker 1: percent of snaps as a rookie. I'd be very surprised
- 10:49Speaker 1: if Stowers plays more than that. He needs to fill out.
- 10:52Speaker 1: He needs to learn how to block at this level.
- 10:55Speaker 1: And then you know that you could see him run.
- 10:56Speaker 1: I mean he's very athletic. He just he looks like
- 10:59Speaker 1: a guy who changed positions that needs to fill out.
- 11:02Speaker 1: So that that's a work in progress.
- 11:05Speaker 3: Someone who wants to know about Eli Stower's practice update,
- 11:09Speaker 3: He did have a deep completion from Tanner McKee for
- 11:13Speaker 3: what I saw that one. That was a little bit
- 11:15Speaker 3: further away from us, but I was able to see that.
- 11:17Speaker 1: I saw that one. But overall, he's far away from
- 11:20Speaker 1: being a factor. He needs a lot of work. I
- 11:22Speaker 1: don't think there's any question about that. The thing is
- 11:25Speaker 1: he's got a bulk up he he you know, I
- 11:27Speaker 1: watched him a lot in that practice on Wednesday. He
- 11:30Speaker 1: looks like a receiver out there. He's just he reminds
- 11:33Speaker 1: me a little bit of eviding Ingram, who, by the way,
- 11:35Speaker 1: was a first round pick, who's always been he's never
- 11:38Speaker 1: really filled out. Uh he's he's never been a great blocker,
- 11:41Speaker 1: but he became better at it. But the guy super athletic,
- 11:44Speaker 1: has made a lot a lot of money so that
- 11:46Speaker 1: he's got a comparable body. But you got to give
- 11:48Speaker 1: a guy time to develop. Getting getting over to the
- 11:51Speaker 1: running backs, one of the things I loved is and
- 11:54Speaker 1: they've done this throughout camp. Every once in a while
- 11:57Speaker 1: in a practice, you'll see Shipley or Barkley. I don't know,
- 12:00Speaker 1: you would know better than I. With Bigsby, I haven't
- 12:02Speaker 1: seen it, but I've seen Shipley and Barkley line up
- 12:05Speaker 1: outside and what happens is they have they have a
- 12:08Speaker 1: it's called a drop screen, so the running back will
- 12:12Speaker 1: literally stop and it is he makes like he's gonna
- 12:15Speaker 1: go off for a route, and he stops and they
- 12:16Speaker 1: just throw it to him and the running back goes upfield.
- 12:18Speaker 1: I love that play.
- 12:20Speaker 3: I think they tried to do it today with Bigsby
- 12:22Speaker 3: as well. Okay, I think I think the ball just
- 12:25Speaker 3: fell short. Either he dropped it or it was just low.
- 12:27Speaker 1: Okay. So but I like the screen game. As we
- 12:31Speaker 1: always say, we can go about what we see. Can't
- 12:33Speaker 1: guarantee anything when well he gets the regular season. Who
- 12:35Speaker 1: the hell knows, because you know, we were fooled when
- 12:40Speaker 1: when the running back is now where the Bears are
- 12:42Speaker 1: used to with the Eagles acquired from the Lions. Uh,
- 12:45Speaker 1: what's the kid's name three years ago? Oh?
- 12:50Speaker 2: Montgomery?
- 12:51Speaker 1: No, no, no, no, no, no, no, the well, sit, well,
- 12:55Speaker 1: the name is I'll tell you who it is. It
- 12:57Speaker 1: is DeAndre Swift. Oh.
- 13:01Speaker 2: I was sitting there thinking about just that. Wasn't even thinking.
- 13:04Speaker 1: Yeah, no, no, no, But Jandre Swift is here. We
- 13:07Speaker 1: got full three years ago because he caught so many
- 13:10Speaker 1: passes and they wound up not doing in the regular season.
- 13:12Speaker 1: So the screen game's in there, There's no question about it.
- 13:16Speaker 1: It's there. Well, whether they do it or not in
- 13:18Speaker 1: the regular season remains to be seen. We don't guarantee
- 13:20Speaker 1: you anything, that's for sure.
- 13:22Speaker 4: I know how I feel when I wake up in
- 13:24Speaker 4: the morning. I have so many things on my mind.
- 13:27Speaker 4: I can't get any of this done until I have
- 13:29Speaker 4: my first cup of coffee. I know a lot of
- 13:31Speaker 4: you feel the same way. You either need that coffee,
- 13:34Speaker 4: that nicotine pouch, maybe even energy drink to get yourself
- 13:38Speaker 4: through the day. We go to these great lengths to
- 13:41Speaker 4: stay healthy, whether it's going to the gym or trying
- 13:43Speaker 4: to get the right amount of sleep, eating better. Then
- 13:46Speaker 4: we'll put these chemicals in our body just to make
- 13:48Speaker 4: it through the day. But I've been using Ultra pouches
- 13:50Speaker 4: for a long time and let me tell you it's

- 15:04Speaker 5: Nobody loves grilling more than me. Could be thirty degrees
- 15:07Speaker 5: and I'll be out there grilling burgers and steaks. But
- 15:10Speaker 5: the one thing that I really can't stand is losing
- 15:13Speaker 5: my fish and my veggies because they just can't grill
- 15:17Speaker 5: without falling through. That's why I've been using Xclad's BBQ collection.
- 15:21Speaker 5: It's bringing hybrid technology outdoors with products specifically designed to
- 15:26Speaker 5: make grilling easier, especially when you're cooking foods that normally

- 15:44Speaker 5: Their new BBQ grill topper that gives you even more
- 15:47Speaker 5: control when you're cooking delicate foods like veggies or seafood,

- 16:45Speaker 1: But getting back to the quarterbacks, Andrew, overall, what did
- 16:48Speaker 1: you see?
- 16:50Speaker 3: There were some decent throws, quick decision making from Jayalen
- 16:53Speaker 3: Hurts with pressure mounting. There were other moments where I
- 16:57Speaker 3: thought the timing wasn't where it needed to be. But
- 16:58Speaker 3: I could think of one late in the session where
- 17:00Speaker 3: he had a nice timing throw along the right side
- 17:03Speaker 3: line to Darius Cooper, maybe the last ten minutes or
- 17:07Speaker 3: so in practice. Then the play was a sort of
- 17:10Speaker 3: a you know you're seeing a star contrast, because the
- 17:12Speaker 3: play before that was a pass on the other side
- 17:15Speaker 3: of the field to Hollywood Brown where Hollywood Brown had
- 17:18Speaker 3: to wait for it a little bit. So it just
- 17:20Speaker 3: wasn't overly consistent there. But I thought Andy Dalton looked
- 17:25Speaker 3: fairly sharp on the throws that I saw him make. Again,
- 17:29Speaker 3: my eyes were darting to different fields at different times,
- 17:32Speaker 3: depending on who I wanted to get a closer look at.
- 17:34Speaker 3: But he had a couple of nice completions there to
- 17:37Speaker 3: Ques Watkins, really nice touch passes and some others as well.
- 17:43Speaker 1: All right, so the pass and Andrews talk about with
- 17:45Speaker 1: Hollywood Brown because Andrew made and said to me, you've
- 17:48Speaker 1: got to bring this up. So I'm going to bring
- 17:49Speaker 1: it up. The pass needed to be here. Hurts throw
- 17:52Speaker 1: it behind him and he was also late. Hollywood Brown
- 17:55Speaker 1: reached back and caught the football. But there are two
- 17:57Speaker 1: issues with it. It takes away I run after the
- 18:00Speaker 1: catchy arders if the court if the run, if he pass,
- 18:02Speaker 1: target has to wait, the dB is going to catch
- 18:05Speaker 1: up to him. So Brown get a good adjustment, but
- 18:07Speaker 1: the ball should have been here. If you're watching this
- 18:09Speaker 1: on YouTube, it has to be his right not to
- 18:11Speaker 1: left side of his chest like Hurts is just not
- 18:14Speaker 1: onto like he'll get it in the area. Rarely does
- 18:17Speaker 1: he throw it out here now on the butt. When
- 18:20Speaker 1: I said rarely, the past you were talking about on
- 18:22Speaker 1: the sideline was a great time and throw. One of
- 18:25Speaker 1: the biggest areas he's improved in this offseason. We're talking
- 18:28Speaker 1: about OTAs through now that out that out route fifteen
- 18:31Speaker 1: to twenty yards on field. It's just it's maybe his
- 18:34Speaker 1: best pass right now. He gets it out there to it.
- 18:37Speaker 1: It's a spot throw. He goes, this is where the
- 18:39Speaker 1: ball's going, go get it. He's just really good at
- 18:42Speaker 1: I've never seen him.
- 18:42Speaker 2: Throw that thro well, he throw it just as Cooper
- 18:45Speaker 2: was making his great throw. By the time he turned
- 18:47Speaker 2: his head around, the ball was right where it needed
- 18:49Speaker 2: to be.
- 18:50Speaker 1: But unfortunately, too many times it's up here. It's up here.
- 18:56Speaker 1: It needs to be here. You want the past target
- 18:59Speaker 1: to keep going number one, and you want it away
- 19:01Speaker 1: from the defender. We saw throws from Hurts deflective in
- 19:04Speaker 1: this practice. Yes, okay, that's why the ball's got to
- 19:09Speaker 1: be out. I understand it's a new offense. It's going
- 19:11Speaker 1: to take a while. We've said, We've been pretty consistent.
- 19:13Speaker 1: It's going to take months, not weeks for it to
- 19:16Speaker 1: look right. I still went on record, I'm going to
- 19:19Speaker 1: continue to say he's going to get it I feel
- 19:21Speaker 1: strongly he's going to do it because he's shown the
- 19:24Speaker 1: ability to do it. As long as you have the
- 19:26Speaker 1: ability to do it, you've shown it on tape, you
- 19:28Speaker 1: can do it. Just has to be consistent. But in Tanner,
- 19:32Speaker 1: McKee Andrew, I just number sixteen. I don't know what
- 19:37Speaker 1: to say other than this. I hate to call a regression.
- 19:39Speaker 1: He's just not the quarterback he was in previous years.
- 19:42Speaker 1: And I don't know if he's going to get that
- 19:43Speaker 1: timing back. His timing is off.
- 19:45Speaker 3: Yeah, I can't quite put my finger on it, whether it's,
- 19:49Speaker 3: you know, a struggle to pick up the system, if
- 19:52Speaker 3: it's a confidence thing. But he clearly isn't the same
- 19:55Speaker 3: player that I've seen for the last few seasons, and
- 19:58Speaker 3: he wasn't particularly sharp in this practice either. Cole Payton
- 20:01Speaker 3: throw an interception in this practice. But I think when
- 20:05Speaker 3: you look at this offense, my biggest takeaway from this
- 20:07Speaker 3: first practice was the efficiency of the running game, and
- 20:11Speaker 3: you outlined it in particular with Saquon Barkley, and I
- 20:14Speaker 3: thought will Shipley had some bright moments as well.
- 20:17Speaker 1: Yeah, the outside zone looks great. I got to tell
- 20:19Speaker 1: you their offensive line got off the ball because they
- 20:22Speaker 1: there's certain things in practice we can see. They got
- 20:23Speaker 1: off the ball a lot in the run game. Outside
- 20:26Speaker 1: zone working well, mid zone working well. They're not Eagles
- 20:29Speaker 1: are not a big inside zone team anymore, so we'll
- 20:33Speaker 1: have to see what happens there. But I thought that
- 20:35Speaker 1: was good. I thought one on ones, I watched Mark
- 20:37Speaker 1: kel Bell, I watched Kim Williams had a couple really
- 20:40Speaker 1: nice ones. I know one on ones aren't like real football,
- 20:43Speaker 1: but it counts when you look for competitiveness and toughness.
- 20:47Speaker 1: Kim Williams had some good raps. Mark cal Bell had
- 20:49Speaker 1: a real nice rap.
- 20:50Speaker 3: Drew Drew Kendall had some really strong reps that I
- 20:53Speaker 3: think wrote illustrated what we've been talking about, that he
- 20:56Speaker 3: got stronger and he added some weight. There were some
- 20:58Speaker 3: stalemates where he look like he probably would have been
- 21:01Speaker 3: or should have been overpowered, but that didn't happen because
- 21:04Speaker 3: he was able to kind of hold his own there.
- 21:06Speaker 3: Louie Lampkin had one where he pancaked someone. There were
- 21:10Speaker 3: a couple of reps that he didn't fare too well in.
- 21:13Speaker 3: I thought Miles Hitting really struggled in those. To put
- 21:15Speaker 3: it mildly, at least that's the way.
- 21:17Speaker 1: That it appeared. I saw it, Yes, I did. Yeah.
- 21:21Speaker 3: And Michael Morris, the rookie I didn't think, held up
- 21:24Speaker 3: particularly well. But the Eagles starters, I mean they, I
- 21:29Speaker 3: mean I have it all written down in my notes.
- 21:30Speaker 3: I mean they they had a clear advantage over the
- 21:34Speaker 3: Patriots defensive line in those matchups.
- 21:37Speaker 1: All right, any leftovers before we get over to defense
- 21:39Speaker 1: on offense, you want to mention before we move on.
- 21:44Speaker 2: Let me think.
- 21:46Speaker 1: No, no, really real quick. John Ojoku Ojuku did not practice.
- 21:52Speaker 1: He's got a pectoral injury. Andrew those things are tricky.
- 21:55Speaker 1: That's not good first chances of making the team because
- 21:57Speaker 1: he's been a big surprise.
- 21:59Speaker 2: Yeah, he's missed too in a row. He's in a
- 22:01Speaker 2: row now.
- 22:01Speaker 1: Yeah. And also so Lemon and Smite didn't They didn't
- 22:04Speaker 1: participate in team, so they didn't really practice. Smith and
- 22:07Speaker 1: Lemon didn't really practice like you like they need to.
- 22:10Speaker 1: But somebody looks fun. I watched him an individual.
- 22:15Speaker 3: Tank Bigsby returned to to Wednesday's practice on Monday, he
- 22:19Speaker 3: was held out. He was sidelined with a toe injury.
- 22:23Speaker 3: Tank Bigsby and that big okay Bigsby, Okay, full go
- 22:26Speaker 3: for for Wednesday. So great news there.
- 22:28Speaker 1: Yep, yep. Defensively, they were down a bunch of corners. Uh,
- 22:33Speaker 1: what's what's the list look like?
- 22:36Speaker 3: Castro Fields was limited. Jonathan Jones did not practice. Sean
- 22:43Speaker 3: Wade has an eye injury, eye shoulder, he didn't go.
- 22:47Speaker 3: Bennett Bennett's Jacory and Bennett as well, so they were
- 22:51Speaker 3: really light. A lot of reps for some of those
- 22:54Speaker 3: reserved guys like Keelee Ringo.
- 22:55Speaker 1: Uh.
- 22:56Speaker 2: He he worked quite a bit in this practice.
- 22:58Speaker 1: Ye.
- 22:58Speaker 3: Mac McWilliams got a lot of reps in that practice.
- 23:01Speaker 3: And then they even signed they signed the former, the
- 23:04Speaker 3: guy who was drafted by the Patriots. I'm Isaiah Yeah, yeah,
- 23:09Speaker 3: wearing number He's wearing number forty nine.
- 23:11Speaker 1: Yeah, I wrote it down. I was like, wait a minute,
- 23:12Speaker 1: I didn't know Isaiah Bolton's that's all holy he's the
- 23:15Speaker 1: last six two. Wow. Yeah.
- 23:17Speaker 3: He caught my eye on Monday because when sat Kwon
- 23:20Speaker 3: Barkley turned the corner on h it was around the
- 23:23Speaker 3: left corner. He threw a shoulder into him and I said,
- 23:25Speaker 3: who is that? That's not Castro Fields. Jersey rolled up
- 23:28Speaker 3: and I'm like, that's forty nine. I said, oh, that's
- 23:30Speaker 3: Isaiah bolt Yeah.
- 23:31Speaker 1: He was a seventh rounder in twenty twenty three with
- 23:33Speaker 1: the Patriots out of Jackson State. All right, let's let's
- 23:36Speaker 1: let's let's talk about the Eagles defense versus the Patriots offense.
- 23:41Speaker 1: I would say that, and I have to check with
- 23:44Speaker 1: someone of the Patriots supedx acurate, because you never really
- 23:48Speaker 1: I'm not going to say they went after him. I'm
- 23:49Speaker 1: just saying that they had a lot of success against
- 23:51Speaker 1: Woolan well and I sall have some pass breakups. But
- 23:54Speaker 1: the thing Andrew that I noted is that the Patriots
- 23:58Speaker 1: a ton of deep crosses deep over a ton of
- 24:00Speaker 1: them throughout practice.
- 24:03Speaker 3: A lot, and it seemed like they had a lot
- 24:05Speaker 3: of success with number two in coverage, and the Kaishaan
- 24:10Speaker 3: Bute had some receptions. I thought Romeo Dobbs in particular
- 24:14Speaker 3: had some that I jotted.
- 24:15Speaker 1: Down in my over down the left yep yep.
- 24:17Speaker 3: Aj Brown had at least a half dozen receptions in
- 24:20Speaker 3: this one. All all qualified really has explosive place twenty
- 24:24Speaker 3: yards or more. Yeah, I just thought that they were
- 24:28Speaker 3: really I thought Drake may and his receiving corps was
- 24:30Speaker 3: very efficient, which I'm kind of surprised at him because
- 24:33Speaker 3: in training camp the Eagles secondary has largely held up
- 24:37Speaker 3: very well. At least it wasn't the case on Wednesday.
- 24:41Speaker 3: We'll see what happens on Thursday. But I thought that
- 24:43Speaker 3: there were areas of opportunity. And I should also mention
- 24:47Speaker 3: that my guy Andre Sam picked off Tommy Cutlet's Tommy
- 24:50Speaker 3: DeVito on a deflection off the hands of Kai Shan Bute,
- 24:53Speaker 3: and it was nice to see Andre get out there
- 24:56Speaker 3: and make a play and we'll see if that helps,
- 24:58Speaker 3: you know, sort of help.
- 25:00Speaker 2: Just built some momentum form.
- 25:01Speaker 1: By the way, I think you owe Tommy cutlet's five
- 25:03Speaker 1: dollars every time you mentioned I think he gets five.
- 25:05Speaker 2: So was that right? Yeah, don't tell that. Don't tell
- 25:09Speaker 2: that to Jade and Daniels.
- 25:10Speaker 1: Right. Oh god, you had to go there. You had
- 25:13Speaker 1: to go there, Milt Williams. It just you know, I
- 25:17Speaker 1: haven't seen him practice. I didn't go to the Patriots'
- 25:19Speaker 1: practices last season. He's you know, he's number ninety seven.
- 25:24Speaker 1: He is.
- 25:25Speaker 2: I talked to him after practice. I talked to him
- 25:26Speaker 2: after practice. Here.
- 25:27Speaker 1: Cool, we'll get that in a second. He's so strong now.
- 25:30Speaker 1: Although I'll tell you they Eagles off of the line,
- 25:32Speaker 1: move their defensive line sometimes like they really did a
- 25:35Speaker 1: good job. But one on one Andrew, it's just his strength. TV.
- 25:42Speaker 1: You really can't tell a coaching tape. You can all
- 25:44Speaker 1: twenty two because you're getting overhead. But Andrew and I
- 25:47Speaker 1: are getting an overhea because we're this literally happened right
- 25:49Speaker 1: in front of us. It was something else. What did
- 25:51Speaker 1: what did he have to say?
- 25:52Speaker 3: So I asked him about Moro Jomo, because on Monday,
- 25:55Speaker 3: Hemorrow had mentioned that he and Jordan Davis were on
- 25:59Speaker 3: the golf course and they FaceTime or they FaceTime Milton,
- 26:03Speaker 3: so they still stay in touch. But I pretty much
- 26:05Speaker 3: asked him, I said, how good can he be? What's
- 26:08Speaker 3: the next step for him? And he said, man, and
- 26:10Speaker 3: the quote I transcribed this on my ex account, but
- 26:13Speaker 3: he pretty much said that man, Moro, everything that he
- 26:16Speaker 3: wants is right in front of him. He's going to
- 26:18Speaker 3: work for it, and everything you know that that he's
- 26:20Speaker 3: working towards is going to come to fruition.
- 26:23Speaker 2: He spoke pretty glowingly about him.
- 26:24Speaker 3: And I thought that that was an interesting perspective because
- 26:27Speaker 3: they're kind of similar in terms of they were thrust
- 26:31Speaker 3: into a deep pool a defensive lineman. They've they flashed
- 26:34Speaker 3: in terms of past rush, and then they're both standing
- 26:37Speaker 3: to make a decent amount on the open market, which
- 26:39Speaker 3: Milton just did.
- 26:41Speaker 1: Yeah. Oh, by the way, and then you know Vic Fancho,
- 26:43Speaker 1: who always tells the truth.
- 26:45Speaker 4: Uh.
- 26:46Speaker 1: Our old friend rub Rubert Frank from u NBC Sports Philly,
- 26:50Speaker 1: he asked him about Grenarth for Week one Tetra he
- 26:52Speaker 1: might not play and he said yes, there's he said yes,
- 26:55Speaker 1: So I said, real, good job, So we need to
- 26:57Speaker 1: ask that question. You know, I know how he said
- 27:00Speaker 1: he'll be ready for week one. Well, it's a pecturial injury,
- 27:03Speaker 1: paturial strains like you could get a ballpark with. When
- 27:08Speaker 1: a guy should be back, it's never absolute. So and
- 27:13Speaker 1: Vic talked about he he did I guess did he say?
- 27:15Speaker 1: He was in the weight room their.
- 27:16Speaker 2: Weight room, Their weight room, right, right, right.
- 27:19Speaker 1: So we'll have to say, we'll have to see. But
- 27:22Speaker 1: Vick was least complimentary a little bit of Nolan Smith
- 27:25Speaker 1: because I haven't heard him speak much about him, but
- 27:26Speaker 1: he was.
- 27:27Speaker 2: How about tyro How about what he had to say
- 27:28Speaker 2: about ty Robinson?
- 27:29Speaker 1: All right, So this is an unbelievable quote. So for
- 27:33Speaker 1: those of you who said we were reaching when we
- 27:35Speaker 1: said ty Robinson to start training campaign, Jeff and I
- 27:37Speaker 1: did our preview as we do every year, and Jeff
- 27:40Speaker 1: and I both agree that Ty Robinsons got to earn
- 27:42Speaker 1: his way on the team. He didn't have a good
- 27:43Speaker 1: rookie season. But I have additional information on that this
- 27:47Speaker 1: person that got it from does not work for the Eagles.
- 27:48Speaker 1: He this guy turned in a scouting report for the
- 27:51Speaker 1: club that he that he works for. And he said
- 27:53Speaker 1: that with Ty Robinson, you have to understand, does this
- 27:57Speaker 1: guy's watched Phillys tape and he said, he said that, look,
- 28:02Speaker 1: everything that they're asking him to do, not everything. A
- 28:04Speaker 1: lot of what he's being asked to do, he didn't
- 28:06Speaker 1: do it at Nebraska. So you have to take that consideration.
- 28:10Speaker 1: He's having to he has to deprogram what he learned
- 28:13Speaker 1: okay in college and now be reprogrammed. It's a professional.
- 28:17Speaker 1: So yes, his rookie season was a disaster. It just
- 28:20Speaker 1: was not good. And and Vic said, and Andrew brought
- 28:24Speaker 1: it up. It was it's so Vic, he goes his
- 28:27Speaker 1: he goes he was on life of support until this game,
- 28:30Speaker 1: to his past game, he showed up.
- 28:31Speaker 2: He said, he came to life.
- 28:33Speaker 1: Yeah, he said he was on life support. I love that.
- 28:35Speaker 1: I was like, did he just say that he did?
- 28:38Speaker 1: But yeah he did. He and and the the thing
- 28:41Speaker 1: with Ty, he gets you know, he his things with
- 28:44Speaker 1: energy and and hand hand usage. You know that that's
- 28:48Speaker 1: how he's going to get by. That's how he's going
- 28:50Speaker 1: to get better. But they really need him to show up.
- 28:52Speaker 1: And that was good and he had a great game.
- 28:54Speaker 1: He really did, really showed up in the preseason game.
- 28:56Speaker 1: But as we get through the defense, andrew a couple
- 29:00Speaker 1: of things that I thought were interesting. Did you notice
- 29:04Speaker 1: in the two minute defense that jah Hot Campbell was
- 29:07Speaker 1: on the field. Did you notice he was in late
- 29:10Speaker 1: and not with starters, not with starters that were on
- 29:14Speaker 1: the field. It was it was backups.
- 29:16Speaker 2: It was it was him and Trotter.
- 29:17Speaker 1: I think yeah, And I looked at the back the
- 29:20Speaker 1: second I were backups and I was like, this is
- 29:22Speaker 1: really interesting. I'm gonna I'm just gonna ask you a question.
- 29:25Speaker 1: We try not to spec we try to give you
- 29:27Speaker 1: a preview what could happen. Campbell's a starter, but is
- 29:31Speaker 1: there any way you think Trotter could take reps for
- 29:33Speaker 1: Trotter is just a really good football player. We know
- 29:35Speaker 1: he's not the biggest guy in the world, but Jeff
- 29:37Speaker 1: and I noted we had heard behind the scenes he's
- 29:38Speaker 1: been terrific practice player. Do you see any way that
- 29:41Speaker 1: he could take a little bit of time from Campbell?
- 29:43Speaker 1: It's it possible.
- 29:45Speaker 3: Normally vic Fango doesn't like to rotate it linebacker, but
- 29:50Speaker 3: the way that Trotter Junior has played, not only this summer,
- 29:54Speaker 3: but the summer prior where he did nothing not to start,
- 29:58Speaker 3: but they draftedja High Campbell in the first round. He's
- 30:01Speaker 3: just like you said, he's just a good football player.
- 30:03Speaker 3: He's fundamentally sound. He's always in the right place at
- 30:05Speaker 3: the right time, and I think there's a trust level
- 30:08Speaker 3: there with Vic Fangio knowing that Trotter kind of like
- 30:11Speaker 3: Marcus EPs, they're going to be where they need to
- 30:13Speaker 3: be and they're going to play with good fundamentals. I think,
- 30:16Speaker 3: so to answer your question, I believe that there is
- 30:19Speaker 3: a path where he could do that that not necessarily
- 30:23Speaker 3: at the expense of a Jahad Campbell, but there's a
- 30:26Speaker 3: world where I think he could work in and find
- 30:29Speaker 3: packages to get him on the field where you can
- 30:31Speaker 3: take advantage of what he could do. He's not Nakobe
- 30:33Speaker 3: Dean esque, but he could. He's cerebral in the sense
- 30:36Speaker 3: of an a Kobe Dan.
- 30:38Speaker 1: He processes incredible or incredibly one. In fact, Vic talked
- 30:41Speaker 1: about that prior to onnes he's practiced with the media.
- 30:44Speaker 1: When he was asked about how he's improved his processing,
- 30:47Speaker 1: he you always know whether it's a quarterback, what position.
- 30:50Speaker 1: When it's fluid, when you see the guy get downhill.
- 30:52Speaker 1: He's not thinking, he knows it's instinctive. His instinctiveness is
- 30:56Speaker 1: off the charts. He's just obviously somen of a great line.
- 31:00Speaker 1: But Trot's Senior was a completely different guy the way
- 31:02Speaker 1: he played. Also an inside backer, but he was his
- 31:05Speaker 1: brute strength and force where Sun is much smaller. But
- 31:10Speaker 1: he really is a he could be a quarterback of
- 31:11Speaker 1: a defensive He's a kind of guy. Andrew, I think
- 31:13Speaker 1: Trot's trot Junior could start elsewhere, not gonna be here.
- 31:17Speaker 1: But he, as you said, he's not done anything not
- 31:19Speaker 1: to play. That's why I asked you that he's It's
- 31:22Speaker 1: something we're gonna watch final two weeks ago.
- 31:24Speaker 3: So so my buddy Jimmy Kemski, who works with Jeff
- 31:28Speaker 3: Over at the Philly Boys.
- 31:29Speaker 1: Yeah he does.
- 31:30Speaker 3: He does, you know, sort of a stock up stock
- 31:33Speaker 3: down every training camp or her pole the beat writers,
- 31:36Speaker 3: and you give your answer, My stock up player was
- 31:39Speaker 3: Jeremiah Trotter Junior. There is I think Darius Cooper would
- 31:43Speaker 3: be the popular answer, especially coming off the practices that
- 31:47Speaker 3: he was really emerging. But I want with Trotter Junior
- 31:49Speaker 3: for the reasons that you outlined. He just takes a
- 31:53Speaker 3: step further.
- 31:54Speaker 2: Uh. Each practice he does.
- 31:56Speaker 3: He always makes a play, And I think the cerebral
- 31:59Speaker 3: nature of the way that he plays the position and
- 32:01Speaker 3: how he continues to grow. It's just something that I
- 32:04Speaker 3: find myself writing down number fifty four in my notes.
- 32:07Speaker 2: Every single practice there's something that he does.
- 32:09Speaker 1: So Okay, I thought the edge rash group more often
- 32:12Speaker 1: than not gave the Patriot quarterbacks too much time. No,
- 32:15Speaker 1: were there times that the Eagles got to them, Yes.
- 32:18Speaker 2: Yeah, jalb splashed a little bit, a little bit Jayleb Hunt.
- 32:22Speaker 1: Jalax Hunt, Yes, yeah, fifty eight. But overall I thought May.
- 32:27Speaker 1: I could see May when he was frustrated. Here throw
- 32:29Speaker 1: the ball on the ground. He just throw it away
- 32:31Speaker 1: when they got pressure. But again, particularly the first half
- 32:35Speaker 1: of practice, it's seeming like here we go again. Here
- 32:39Speaker 1: comes another crosser, deep crosser, deep over once again. Now,
- 32:43Speaker 1: someone who who's watched Woolan play a lot because he
- 32:50Speaker 1: was assigned Seattle last season, told me he said the
- 32:52Speaker 1: thing with Wolan, the pattern matching, which is what the
- 32:56Speaker 1: Eagles use. They use match carriage delivered called pattern match.
- 33:00Speaker 1: He has trouble because he's so long legged throwing down
- 33:03Speaker 1: he goes. It wasn't just his hand discipline with Seattle.
- 33:08Speaker 1: When you have to throw like that, if it's a
- 33:10Speaker 1: if it's a cross or you have to stop, you
- 33:12Speaker 1: have to trail and then you have to stop yourself.
- 33:14Speaker 1: He's not great at that. That's something we saw in
- 33:17Speaker 1: this practice. There's no doubt about an Aj got him
- 33:20Speaker 1: a bunch of them. Pop Douglass got a really nice
- 33:25Speaker 1: I forget he's number three. I forgot who he got
- 33:27Speaker 1: it on. Oh, actually he got it on Coop.
- 33:29Speaker 2: Yeah, he had a couple.
- 33:30Speaker 3: I should also mention that, Uh yeah, Demara Douglas had
- 33:33Speaker 3: some nice reps against Cooper de Gie And you can
- 33:35Speaker 3: see his short area quickness.
- 33:37Speaker 2: So his ability to steparate at the top of the route.
- 33:40Speaker 1: Uh.
- 33:40Speaker 3: And he has sort of a shorter and more compact
- 33:43Speaker 3: type of build. So it's a different type of player.
- 33:45Speaker 3: And Cooper's you know, a bigger guy as well. You know,
- 33:48Speaker 3: he's kind of built like a safety now. So I
- 33:51Speaker 3: think Douglas is able to take advantage of that match
- 33:53Speaker 3: up a little bit.
- 33:54Speaker 1: Again, We're gonna have another practice tomorrow, so we'll see
- 33:57Speaker 1: how he was rebound at certain areas. But what stood
- 34:00Speaker 1: out to you. Let's let's take an overview of the defense.
- 34:02Speaker 1: What's what stood out to you.
- 34:05Speaker 3: I thought the interior of the defensive line looked to
- 34:09Speaker 3: generate solid penetration. Joe Moo, Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis. By
- 34:15Speaker 3: the way, there was no Byron Young today. He didn't
- 34:17Speaker 3: he didn't work, he was sidelined.
- 34:20Speaker 2: Should also mention that.
- 34:21Speaker 3: But really, the the the big talking point for me,
- 34:25Speaker 3: the big storyline on that side of the ball was
- 34:28Speaker 3: how their secondary seemed to uh seemed to struggle a
- 34:32Speaker 3: little bit against the New England receiving game. And Drake
- 34:35Speaker 3: May did not have many incompletions in this one. And
- 34:39Speaker 3: I was expecting some some more contested throws and some
- 34:43Speaker 3: more uh you know, some more bad it passes active
- 34:45Speaker 3: coverage from the from the secondary members.
- 34:48Speaker 1: Yeah, Mac Collins got them. On your point, Mac Collins
- 34:51Speaker 1: got them deep on one on ones, on seven on seven.
- 34:56Speaker 1: I to me and again, because you can't hit the quarterbacks,
- 35:00Speaker 1: so the quarterbacks got another second and half. Well, if
- 35:01Speaker 1: he does, he's probably going to be successful. But within
- 35:05Speaker 1: the timing of it, just within two point five seconds,
- 35:09Speaker 1: two point seven too many opportunities for a j Brown,
- 35:12Speaker 1: Romeo Dobbs pop Douglass number three, where Andrew talked about
- 35:16Speaker 1: Keishawan Boodie number nine, Matt Collins number thirteen. I didn't
- 35:19Speaker 1: see Kyle Williams under the very high on number eighteen,
- 35:22Speaker 1: ye who was drafting the third round last season. But overall,
- 35:27Speaker 1: and then they tried to get the Eagles linebackers in
- 35:30Speaker 1: the screen game with thirty two Henderson and thirty eight Stevens,
- 35:33Speaker 1: and Stevenson's technically the starter. I thought the Eagles held
- 35:36Speaker 1: up fairly well on that because everything won screens go ahead.
- 35:40Speaker 3: Yeah, I thought they did. I thought Zach Baughn in particular,
- 35:42Speaker 3: were very quick to it. He had a nice pass
- 35:44Speaker 3: breakup on a wheel route down the left sideline where
- 35:48Speaker 3: it hit him in the back, so I mean he'd
- 35:50Speaker 3: get lucky, but he was also in position to make
- 35:52Speaker 3: the play. He also had some nice coverage underneath on
- 35:54Speaker 3: some of those throws that they were trying to you know,
- 35:57Speaker 3: fit in there to the running backs.
- 35:59Speaker 1: Oh one note, uh, because I know you were watching it.
- 36:02Speaker 1: You told me you were noting it. Who is for
- 36:04Speaker 1: training kicks and punts? Do you recall.
- 36:06Speaker 3: Britain Covey, Cooper Dejeene, Elijah Moore. There may have been
- 36:11Speaker 3: a couple of others, but those are the ones that
- 36:14Speaker 3: I noted previously. In you know, in Philadelphia, there's been playing,
- 36:20Speaker 3: uh like Ques Watkins has had been back there. He
- 36:22Speaker 3: may have been I just know punts, punts, Okay, yeah,
- 36:26Speaker 3: punt Do you know?
- 36:27Speaker 1: Do you know his kickoffs at all?
- 36:29Speaker 2: I didn't notice.
- 36:30Speaker 3: Kickoffs, but a player who has been working in there
- 36:33Speaker 3: of late, as Darius Cooper and Tank Bigsby's worked in there,
- 36:37Speaker 3: Elijah Moore's worked in there, Brittain Covey's gotten some will Shipley.
- 36:41Speaker 3: Of course, to me, it seems like they're still trying
- 36:45Speaker 3: to figure that one out.
- 36:46Speaker 1: All right. You mentioned Darius Cooper. We talked about earlier.
- 36:48Speaker 1: I'm gonna put you on the spot here because you
- 36:50Speaker 1: and I talk about this each week. Okay, yeah, I
- 36:51Speaker 1: have this guy on it. Is Cooper still in your
- 36:54Speaker 1: fifty three? Yes?
- 36:57Speaker 3: Because he can do a lot of different things. He
- 37:00Speaker 3: could run down the field and cover kicks, he can
- 37:02Speaker 3: return punts, he can play gunner, he can block on
- 37:05Speaker 3: the perimeter. There's it's not just that he's this possession
- 37:09Speaker 3: receiver with good hands that can move the chains.
- 37:11Speaker 2: Who's not going to see a lot of targets.
- 37:13Speaker 3: There's other areas that if he's active on game that
- 37:15Speaker 3: he can help the Eagles, where maybe someone like Elijah Moore,
- 37:18Speaker 3: who is invested veteran, maybe not him, not so much.
- 37:23Speaker 2: Elijah Moore, to be clear, is the better receiver.
- 37:26Speaker 1: He's more talented. But there are different body types, more
- 37:30Speaker 1: smaller physically. Cooper's build his body up. Cooper's got more versatility,
- 37:34Speaker 1: but Elajimore's experienced veteran, and there's some things that more
- 37:38Speaker 1: can do that Cooper maybe does not do as well
- 37:40Speaker 1: and Moore's not. He may have had drops earlier, but
- 37:44Speaker 1: I'm not seeing it at all. He was really good
- 37:47Speaker 1: in Wednesday's practice. He's got that short air of quickness.
- 37:50Speaker 2: Yeah, that is that.
- 37:51Speaker 1: Is important because this is a West Coast offense and
- 37:54Speaker 1: you got to be able to do that. You got
- 37:56Speaker 1: to and it's run after the caps like you know,
- 37:59Speaker 1: the veteran quarterbacks like Hertz Mahomes, they love, these guys
- 38:03Speaker 1: would get open short area that ball's coming out like that.
- 38:07Speaker 1: That's important. You know.
- 38:08Speaker 3: Well, so let me let me let me pitch this
- 38:10Speaker 3: back to you, all right, because I think that Cooper's
- 38:13Speaker 3: you know, calling card is that he's so versatile when
- 38:15Speaker 3: he can offer a lot of different things, which is
- 38:17Speaker 3: why I think he'd be more appealing to the Eagles
- 38:19Speaker 3: if you're comparing him to Elijah Moore.
- 38:22Speaker 2: Do you have Darius Cooper making the team?
- 38:24Speaker 1: I do. Here's my six the obvious three Wix Smith, Lemon,
- 38:30Speaker 1: Haley Brown. As I keep telling people, and even when
- 38:32Speaker 1: he wasn't doing well, five million fo leg g angaranteed
- 38:35Speaker 1: he's not getting cut a Lojah Moore is online and
- 38:37Speaker 1: Darris Cooper's sixth.
- 38:39Speaker 3: I'm really bummed out that Johnny Wilson hasn't been able
- 38:42Speaker 3: to get some work in He's got he's been sideline
- 38:46Speaker 3: with a knee, and you know, there's been moments this
- 38:49Speaker 3: camp prior to that that he's come on a little bit.
- 38:52Speaker 2: He's becoming more comfortable as a receiver.
- 38:54Speaker 3: The Eagles seem to like them, but it's hard to
- 38:57Speaker 3: It's hard to generate any kind of momentum if you're
- 38:59Speaker 3: not able to get on the field.
- 39:00Speaker 1: Now, one thing, as we've mentioned throughout our tenure in
- 39:03Speaker 1: our nine years to our listeners is that this is
- 39:05Speaker 1: a way to explain to us about cutting young players
- 39:07Speaker 1: who are non invested veterans. It's all do you believe
- 39:11Speaker 1: that you can get the guy through waivers? That's the secret.
- 39:14Speaker 1: Darius Cooper's out the information that reporters put out there
- 39:17Speaker 1: in Twitter. Every team sees that they have usually interns
- 39:21Speaker 1: in their scouting department who are who tracks social media.
- 39:25Speaker 1: That's what a lot of teams tell me. So they
- 39:27Speaker 1: see and they also get the news clips. So when
- 39:30Speaker 1: you write for our website inside the Birds dot Com, yeah,
- 39:35Speaker 1: you read Andrews reports what Andrew's blowing up Cooper because
- 39:38Speaker 1: that's what he saw. It's true.
- 39:40Speaker 2: Well that's that happened.
- 39:41Speaker 1: Yes, and they know about this. So if it comes
- 39:44Speaker 1: down to that, do they think they could get him
- 39:46Speaker 1: through waivers or not? That's that's a part of it.
- 39:48Speaker 1: Remember Joe Banner telling me that that's what the discussions
- 39:51Speaker 1: were like the form Eagle's president. Once you put them
- 39:53Speaker 1: through waivers, you're willing to lose the player or the
- 39:56Speaker 1: Eagles willing to lose Cooper because right now, right.
- 39:58Speaker 2: And like everything that everything that we've been noting that happened,
- 40:02Speaker 2: I mean he has had really strong practices, right, So,
- 40:06Speaker 2: I mean the secret is out.
- 40:07Speaker 1: To your point, Bro, Brown Moore are kind of over him.
- 40:11Speaker 1: Right now.
- 40:12Speaker 4: Now, as I've gotten older, I've really tried to concentrate
- 40:15Speaker 4: on my physical health, my body, making sure I'm putting
- 40:18Speaker 4: the right things in and the healthiest things in. I've
- 40:21Speaker 4: always heard about creatine, but I wasn't really sure about
- 40:24Speaker 4: using creatine supplements until I did the research to find
- 40:28Speaker 4: out what it was really all about. That's when I
- 40:30Speaker 4: found Momentous, which created signature spec Creatine, their most advanced
- 40:35Speaker 4: creatine ever, setting a new standard for creatine quality. It's
- 40:40Speaker 4: one of the only creatines to be manufactured in a
- 40:42Speaker 4: pharmaceutical facility using reverse osmosis water purification and verified through
- 40:48Speaker 4: an expanded six stage testing process with four independent agencies.
- 40:53Speaker 4: They've improved the product experience with ultrafying powder that mixes
- 40:57Speaker 4: effortlessly with no.
- 40:59Speaker 1: Grit or clumping.
- 41:00Speaker 5: Hey, look, I like a good creating shake in the afternoon,
- 41:03Speaker 5: and it's got to taste good and be smooth. The
- 41:06Speaker 5: benefits of creating are very real. It supports strength, power, lean,
- 41:11Speaker 5: muscle growth, recovery, and even improve cognitive performance. And as
- 41:15Speaker 5: I get older, all those things are so much more
- 41:17Speaker 5: important to me than they used to be. If you
- 41:20Speaker 5: want to try Momentous signature spect creatine. Head to livemomentus

- 42:36Speaker 4: made for Philly fans twenty one and up.
- 42:39Speaker 1: Now, in tomorrow's practice, we'll see how the rotation is,
- 42:43Speaker 1: we'll see how they perform you we'll check into it also.
- 42:47Speaker 1: And then you've got, of course, the preseason game where
- 42:50Speaker 1: the starters don't play. And Vic talked about it on Wednesday,
- 42:54Speaker 1: like the plan is, like you get as much work
- 42:56Speaker 1: with the ones as you can. You hold the guys
- 42:58Speaker 1: out because they get great work and it's should mention
- 43:01Speaker 1: high seventies, low eighties, little breeze, beautiful day.
- 43:04Speaker 2: Yeah I thought it felt good out there.
- 43:06Speaker 1: Yeah it felt pretty good. Wasn't It was hot, but
- 43:07Speaker 1: it wasn't too bad. Decent summer day. But the bottom
- 43:11Speaker 1: line is it's all about getting good work out. When
- 43:13Speaker 1: did teams play starters when they plan not to? The
- 43:17Speaker 1: way it was explaining to me is if our guys
- 43:18Speaker 1: have bad practices, how coaches think they go, you know what,
- 43:23Speaker 1: we're getting them a quarter They got to play because
- 43:25Speaker 1: they played like bleep. They practiced like bleep today, Like
- 43:27Speaker 1: that could happen that that's the only way these guys
- 43:29Speaker 1: will play. If the practices were so bad that the
- 43:32Speaker 1: coaches were so frustrated that you know, they're playing hell
- 43:35Speaker 1: with that. They're playing because we got to get better work,
- 43:37Speaker 1: you know, because times are wasted. They don't have four
- 43:39Speaker 1: preseas games anymore, they only have three.
- 43:41Speaker 2: You know, I know, I know.
- 43:43Speaker 3: So let me ask you this, Adam, who were just
- 43:45Speaker 3: a couple of players off the top of your head
- 43:48Speaker 3: that really impressed you on Wednesday's practice for one reason
- 43:52Speaker 3: or another.
- 43:52Speaker 1: Shipley twenty eight, I thought he really looks explosive. H
- 43:59Speaker 1: he fits the southside zone system. Wow, that that hurts.
- 44:03Speaker 1: Toss right, get up field, make a little bit of
- 44:05Speaker 1: a joke. His straight line speed. Remember, Andrew, you and
- 44:08Speaker 1: I saw Shipley its rookie season, and this is when Swift,
- 44:13Speaker 1: actually swift, Swift was here in just twenty three, right,
- 44:16Speaker 1: it was just twenty twenty three, Just in twenty three, yes, right,
- 44:19Speaker 1: But Shipley in twenty four and this is this is
- 44:23Speaker 1: their Super Bowl year. His ability to catch the football
- 44:28Speaker 1: on outside formation was beautiful. He just returned his hips
- 44:31Speaker 1: and get a field. That's when we thought he was
- 44:34Speaker 1: because he was more explicit of Kenny Gainwell. Game was
- 44:36Speaker 1: a much better past protector. So game was over him
- 44:38Speaker 1: for that.
- 44:39Speaker 3: But will Will was taking steps and becoming a better
- 44:42Speaker 3: pass protector.
- 44:43Speaker 2: I noticed, I've noticed that.
- 44:44Speaker 1: This sum Okay, good, good, good, good.
- 44:47Speaker 2: You're right, Kenny Gangwell was very very pass pro.
- 44:50Speaker 1: Yeah, and he led the Steelers in receptions last year.
- 44:52Speaker 1: Can you believe that?
- 44:53Speaker 3: Like, how do only with our one of the most
- 44:56Speaker 3: undervalued players in the league.
- 44:58Speaker 1: Yeah, and I was with Tampa Bay, right, So here
- 45:00Speaker 1: here's what I liked. Here's what caught my eye. Okay,
- 45:02Speaker 1: which which you you put out there? Twenty eight Shipley
- 45:06Speaker 1: I thought looked good. Nineteen Elijah Moore really really stepping
- 45:10Speaker 1: it up. Holly Brown caught my eye. It's just that
- 45:13Speaker 1: I'd not seen him run a lot of over routes
- 45:16Speaker 1: because he's smaller. But I was like, wow, I know
- 45:18Speaker 1: they can't hit the guy, but I thought he did well.
- 45:22Speaker 1: I just thought, I love watching sixty nine Dickerson fifty
- 45:26Speaker 1: one jargons, who's Benning better? He looks so much better?
- 45:29Speaker 1: So Murber Greg co Sell telling us that Jurgis had
- 45:32Speaker 1: problems even bending down off tape during games to uh
- 45:37Speaker 1: to like the ball to the court, to hurts like
- 45:40Speaker 1: that's how much pain or stiffness he had last season.
- 45:42Speaker 1: He looks good defensively.
- 45:46Speaker 2: It's a good question, I would say. I would say,
- 45:50Speaker 2: Zach ughn.
- 45:51Speaker 1: Yep, yeah, Zach right, Bond fifty three. How about your
- 45:55Speaker 1: guy thirty one? Andre?
- 45:56Speaker 2: Sam got to give him a mention here.
- 45:59Speaker 3: You know that's you know, these joint practices there, the
- 46:03Speaker 3: intensity ratchets up a little bit more. You saw it
- 46:06Speaker 3: when we walked around the corner and you see all
- 46:08Speaker 3: the fans that are there.
- 46:09Speaker 2: It's loud. It almost feels like a game. You're in there.
- 46:13Speaker 3: The pressure is mounting, and I thought he did he
- 46:15Speaker 3: did well to make some plays. There was another play
- 46:18Speaker 3: earlier in practice on the other side of the field
- 46:21Speaker 3: that I couldn't get a clear view. It looked like
- 46:23Speaker 3: the running back fumbled the ball and I saw Andre
- 46:25Speaker 3: come downhill on her run. He may have been in
- 46:28Speaker 3: the mix. I couldn't tell, but he was very active.
- 46:31Speaker 1: Okay, Oh, then I watch Epanessa a lot. He's still
- 46:35Speaker 1: he's still learning part of Vic's coverage, his own coverages.
- 46:40Speaker 1: The edges drop in the short area or the flat
- 46:44Speaker 1: and he's still figuring out now. Vic talked about that.
- 46:46Speaker 1: When he talked about that Wednesday. Was good that he
- 46:48Speaker 1: got that experience in the preseason game, so that.
- 46:52Speaker 3: That's Itessa actually talked about that on Yeah, about that
- 46:57Speaker 3: on Monday. He's still learning it. He had to cover
- 47:00Speaker 3: a wheel route in the game. He never had to
- 47:02Speaker 3: do that before, right exactly. So you know he's taking
- 47:06Speaker 3: it all in stride. He understands and he's been very
- 47:09Speaker 3: you know, embracing the you know, the challenges that that
- 47:12Speaker 3: this defense asks them.
- 47:13Speaker 1: Did he talk about his weight by any chance? No,
- 47:19Speaker 1: I'm dying to know what.
- 47:20Speaker 3: Next time I get a chance, I'm gonna I'm gonna
- 47:21Speaker 3: he's gonna ask him.
- 47:22Speaker 1: There's no way in hell he's too eighty. No way,
- 47:25Speaker 1: it can't be too eighty.
- 47:27Speaker 3: Yeah, if he's too eighty, as I've said to you before,
- 47:30Speaker 3: he wears that better than anyone ever because he looks
- 47:33Speaker 3: pretty lean.
- 47:35Speaker 1: All right. Is he on your early fifty three?
- 47:38Speaker 2: Oh? Yeah, yeah, I have five. I have five there.
- 47:41Speaker 1: I have him on there. I'm a little bit worried
- 47:44Speaker 1: about chance Campbell's chances to make the team Andrew before
- 47:47Speaker 1: we get out of here.
- 47:47Speaker 3: It's just I would actually have him off of if
- 47:50Speaker 3: I had to do one today.
- 47:51Speaker 2: Adam, he wouldn't be on it.
- 47:53Speaker 1: He's he's just gotta work more. He you know, I
- 47:55Speaker 1: know he's been hurt a little bit. Yeah, did did
- 47:58Speaker 1: Vic say he was What did Vics to Vic say
- 48:00Speaker 1: anything about his practice participation?
- 48:02Speaker 2: I forget that he might have said something about chance. Yeah,
- 48:06Speaker 2: I don't know if he said anything about chance. I'd
- 48:08Speaker 2: have to go look at the transcript. But he missed
- 48:11Speaker 2: some valuable time.
- 48:12Speaker 3: He hasn't necessarily flashed, But that doesn't mean that he
- 48:15Speaker 3: isn't doing things behind the scenes that we aren't privy to.
- 48:18Speaker 3: That the coaches really like. He's a very instinctual smart player.
- 48:21Speaker 3: But it's just hard for me to look at this
- 48:24Speaker 3: roster and believe that the Eagles can keep five linebackers
- 48:28Speaker 3: unless that fifth linebacker is just exceptional on special teams
- 48:31Speaker 3: and you're worried about maybe exposing them to waivers.
- 48:35Speaker 1: All right, good stuff, Andrews. So we will watch Thursday's
- 48:38Speaker 1: practice late morning. Hopefully it'll be a little bit shorter. Well,
- 48:42Speaker 1: they got a lot of good work, Andrew. On Wednesday.
- 48:44Speaker 1: It was a very strong practice in front of a
- 48:46Speaker 1: sellout crowd on the practice fields at Mirror or on
- 48:52Speaker 1: these premises of Gillette Stadium here in Foxborough, Massachusetts. But
- 48:59Speaker 1: Andrew good stuff. Look for Andrews reports to Deli to
- 49:03Speaker 1: checko and and so forth. And h Andrews tough on
- 49:08Speaker 1: inside the Birds dot com and getting those quotes. Yeah,
- 49:11Speaker 1: I look forward to seeing those quotes that you got
- 49:13Speaker 1: out there.
- 49:13Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I put the one on my x
- 49:15Speaker 3: account from when I asked Melton about it Joemo, So yeah,
- 49:20Speaker 3: it was.
- 49:21Speaker 2: He gave a good answer on that. It was good
- 49:22Speaker 2: to see melting again.
- 49:25Speaker 1: Nine number ninety seven he was he was ninety eight
- 49:27Speaker 1: with Eagles. Was he not three? Okay, I know he's
- 49:30Speaker 1: another number, but yeah, he's making a big coin in
- 49:32Speaker 1: a really good football player. A right for Andrew to checko.
- 49:35Speaker 1: I'm Adam Kaplan. We'll see you next time.
