- 0:00Speaker 1: Hey, it's Wes. I want to tell you about a
- 0:02Speaker 1: new season of my other true crime show, The Unforgotten.
- 0:05Speaker 1: This season is called kill Site, and it's about a
- 0:08Speaker 1: really perplexing case that's haunted me for the last five years.
- 0:12Speaker 1: I'm sharing the first episode of kill Site here, but
- 0:15Speaker 1: you can listen to future episodes over at The Unforgotten.
- 0:18Speaker 1: Thank you for listening.
- 0:21Speaker 2: I've always heard that when somebody dies of horrible death,
- 0:24Speaker 2: the body is stuck there where they're at.
- 0:28Speaker 3: Do you believe that?
- 0:30Speaker 1: Uh No, I'd never heard that before.
- 0:33Speaker 3: You've never heard that.
- 0:36Speaker 1: Not long ago, I got a call from a woman
- 0:38Speaker 1: named Kimberly Sproul.
- 0:39Speaker 3: Can you hear me?
- 0:41Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 0:41Speaker 1: Can you hear me now?
- 0:42Speaker 5: I had bad phones on the sooty.
- 0:44Speaker 1: Oh that's okay, I hear you fine. I'd never met
- 0:46Speaker 1: Kimberly before, and I was surprised she even had my
- 0:50Speaker 1: phone number. It turns out she got it from the
- 0:52Speaker 1: sheriff's office in Hood County, Texas. They told her I
- 0:55Speaker 1: was asking questions about her son, Christopher Whiteley. I'd always
- 0:59Speaker 1: want to know what happened to Christopher. I mean, what
- 1:03Speaker 1: really happened, because the official story never made any sense.
- 1:06Speaker 1: To me now to a death investigation in Texas, whorred
- 1:09Speaker 1: authorities are at odds over whether a twenty eight year
- 1:12Speaker 1: old man died in an attack. Local sheriffs have to
- 1:14Speaker 1: say they found Christopher Whiteley's body in a wooded area
- 1:17Speaker 1: of Hood County, about fifty miles southwest of Fort Worth.
- 1:21Speaker 1: A highly unusual death has a lot of people understandably worried.
- 1:25Speaker 1: Christopher's killing just five years ago made news around the world.
- 1:29Speaker 1: It exposed all these conflicts, triggered wild conspiracy theories, and
- 1:33Speaker 1: made people afraid to let their kids play outside. For
- 1:36Speaker 1: a while, it was the biggest true crime mystery in Texas.
- 1:40Speaker 1: But then all the controversy and hysteria just kind of stopped.
- 1:44Speaker 2: That's very quick.
- 1:45Speaker 5: They just died.
- 1:46Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean there was no more said, no more call,
- 1:50Speaker 2: and they just dropped it.
- 1:51Speaker 3: I just thought everybody didn't care.
- 1:53Speaker 1: It was just so unresolved, and it's not solved.
- 1:58Speaker 2: I don't know that we can find out what true,
- 2:01Speaker 2: but it would be nice.
- 2:02Speaker 5: To know what happened.
- 2:04Speaker 3: I would not with somebody coming justice.
- 2:06Speaker 2: It's not gonna bring him back, but uh, they might
- 2:10Speaker 2: heal the moon.
- 2:12Speaker 1: Who or what killed Christopher Allen Whitey. Why was the
- 2:16Speaker 1: case closed and his killer never found? From Free Range
- 2:21Speaker 1: Productions with the Dallas Morning News. This is season four
- 2:24Speaker 1: of the Unforgotten Kill site. I'm your host Wes Ferguson,
- 2:29Speaker 1: and this is episode one, Just do It. Back in
- 2:37Speaker 1: twenty twenty, on the day after Thanksgiving, Kimberly Sprool got
- 2:40Speaker 1: a horrible feeling about her son, Christopher.
- 2:43Speaker 2: So this is gonna sound crazy to you, but I
- 2:47Speaker 2: can predict when things are gonna happen. It's like a
- 2:49Speaker 2: week before Christmas.
- 2:50Speaker 3: Not I predicted it.
- 2:52Speaker 2: Okay, I'll number been twenty seven.
- 2:53Speaker 3: My chest doesn't really bad. I got anxiety, really bad.
- 2:57Speaker 1: Kimberly was with her boyfriend Patrick.
- 3:00Speaker 2: Sometimes I say christ for six and a dog. He's like, what,
- 3:03Speaker 2: I was not gonna go marsh room. Seat of six happened?
- 3:05Speaker 1: Christopher by Christopher was twenty eight years old, five foot
- 3:09Speaker 1: eight and slender, with thick glasses and dark brown hair.
- 3:14Speaker 1: He grew up in Dublin, Texas, a small town about
- 3:16Speaker 1: an hour and a half southwest.
- 3:17Speaker 3: Of Fort Worth.
- 3:19Speaker 1: Christopher's loved ones say he had a lot of problems.
- 3:22Speaker 1: He also had a goofy side.
- 3:24Speaker 6: You know, I remember kimberly talking about his sense of
- 3:29Speaker 6: humor and how funny he was.
- 3:32Speaker 1: This is my friend, Charlie Scudder.
- 3:34Speaker 6: And she used some examples that wasn't my kind of
- 3:38Speaker 6: humor necessarily, but you know, they brought her so much joy.
- 3:43Speaker 6: And these kinds of family and jokes and teasing each
- 3:47Speaker 6: other and making inappropriate comments to each other and that
- 3:51Speaker 6: kind of thing. I could see that being a really
- 3:54Speaker 6: joyful person.
- 3:56Speaker 1: Charlie was a reporter for the Dallas Morning News when
- 3:59Speaker 1: Christopher was killed. He spent weeks, if not months, digging
- 4:02Speaker 1: into the case. To this day, Charlie knows almost too
- 4:06Speaker 1: much about Christopher Whiteley.
- 4:08Speaker 6: He did have a few tattoos, one kind of vulgar
- 4:11Speaker 6: one near his crotch.
- 4:13Speaker 3: What was that?
- 4:15Speaker 6: It was a Nike swish that said just do it?
- 4:20Speaker 6: I think let me double chat. Ok I think that's
- 4:24Speaker 6: what it was.
- 4:25Speaker 5: Yeah, here we go.
- 4:26Speaker 6: Okay, yes, yep. Just above the pubic area is a
- 4:31Speaker 6: Nike symbol in the words just do it.
- 4:34Speaker 1: I mean, that's just funny. I know. It's like, come on, man,
- 4:41Speaker 1: did you come across his YouTube page? I did not know, so, yeah,
- 4:45Speaker 1: it's from a long time. It's from twenty eleven or so. Ok,
- 4:50Speaker 1: so this would have been probably like what late teens,
- 4:53Speaker 1: I think, maybe before he became a dad. Yeah, there's
- 4:56Speaker 1: just a few, but they're really funny. There's one called
- 4:58Speaker 1: Ghetto Jackass.
- 5:00Speaker 7: Following video feature stunts performed either by dumbasses or on
- 5:04Speaker 7: the supervision of dumbasses.
- 5:06Speaker 1: And it's it's like him. You could tell which one
- 5:09Speaker 1: is him. It's really obvious because he's kind of small.
- 5:10Speaker 1: He's got this like thin mustache and thick glasses and
- 5:14Speaker 1: they're in a junk yard or something, and his buddy
- 5:17Speaker 1: crawls up on top of this shed and gets inside
- 5:20Speaker 1: a barrel.
- 5:21Speaker 3: This is ghetto jackets.
- 5:34Speaker 1: And then no, Chris is like holding up the barrel
- 5:37Speaker 1: with some boards and then he pulls the boards away.
- 5:42Speaker 6: Huh.
- 5:43Speaker 1: Barrel rolls down the shed and like the smacks on
- 5:46Speaker 1: the ground. Dude lands like head first. It comes just
- 5:54Speaker 1: like spilling out of this barrel like shit head, all
- 6:00Speaker 1: jacked up, and it's one of those don't do this
- 6:02Speaker 1: at home, but they're just cracking up like a couple
- 6:05Speaker 1: of dumb kids having the time of their life.
- 6:07Speaker 3: So yeah, ghetto jackass.
- 6:10Speaker 6: Yeah that sounds that sounds like someone who gets a
- 6:13Speaker 6: just do it tattoo above the crush. Yeah, I mean that,
- 6:18Speaker 6: I mean.
- 6:18Speaker 3: That would love right?
- 6:19Speaker 1: Oh sure, I mean I think we all had friends
- 6:23Speaker 1: that would you know, you're eighteen and you gotta.
- 6:26Speaker 3: Just do it tattoos?
- 6:28Speaker 6: Hey, you know.
- 6:30Speaker 1: But you know he had stuff about his like how
- 6:32Speaker 1: to feed his baby iguana. But then he also has
- 6:36Speaker 1: It's called My Life and it's a video montage set
- 6:39Speaker 1: to the Titanic theme.
- 6:41Speaker 6: Like my heart will go on?
- 6:43Speaker 3: Yeah, Selene Dion, Oh my gosh.
- 6:46Speaker 1: He had a couple of videos of Tyler. Tyler is
- 6:50Speaker 1: a name you'll want to remember. Her full name is
- 6:53Speaker 1: Samantha Tyler Arlene Messina. She was Christopher's teenage sweetheart, his
- 6:59Speaker 1: on and off girlfriend, and the mother of his two children.
- 7:03Speaker 1: In Christopher's videos, Tyler has big blue eyes and long
- 7:06Speaker 1: wet hair, all wrapped up in a towel fresh from
- 7:09Speaker 1: the shower. He's like just kind of teasing her, and
- 7:12Speaker 1: she flips off the camera and it's like, what do
- 7:14Speaker 1: you do it?
- 7:15Speaker 3: This is my girln Part two. Being a weirdo, A weirdo,
- 7:20Speaker 3: a weirdo. She's probably looking at new guys right now,
- 7:23Speaker 3: right maybe all.
- 7:26Speaker 1: You mesh staggy nuts.
- 7:29Speaker 7: They look like an old man when we called him.
- 7:34Speaker 3: Oh, she's telling them, we.
- 7:37Speaker 1: Just kind of usual young couple kind of stuff.
- 7:41Speaker 6: Yeah, I hadn't seen those. That makes me smile.
- 7:44Speaker 1: Yeah, but it also shows his creativity and it shows why,
- 7:48Speaker 1: you know, the people who loved him would have loved him.
- 7:50Speaker 3: Yeah. And that's the thing that.
- 7:54Speaker 5: Is so frustrating, because it's like, that's a person, right,
- 8:01Speaker 5: that is a fully formed person. Again, warts and all.
- 8:05Speaker 5: There's a little dirt, it's reality, but.
- 8:08Speaker 6: That is not somebody who should just be ignored right
- 8:15Speaker 6: after death.
- 8:17Speaker 7: Right.
- 8:17Speaker 6: That's I'm shaking my head over here.
- 8:21Speaker 3: Yeah, it's sad.
- 8:22Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 8:26Speaker 1: The videos show mostly good times, but there were some
- 8:28Speaker 1: awful times too. In twenty sixteen, Christopher admitted to cutting
- 8:33Speaker 1: Tyler's wrist with an exact o knife.
- 8:36Speaker 6: Yeah, so he was charged with the aggravated all the
- 8:40Speaker 6: deadly weapon. He pled guilty and was sentenced to five
- 8:43Speaker 6: years in prison. In prison, Christopher's family says he got
- 8:48Speaker 6: clean and he was doing well, and he was looking good.
- 8:52Speaker 6: He looked healthy for the first time in a long time.
- 8:55Speaker 6: You know, I've seen some pictures of him during this time.
- 8:58Speaker 6: He's you know, looks.
- 9:00Speaker 3: Under and fuller.
- 9:01Speaker 6: He gets out in twenty twenty, and then what he
- 9:06Speaker 6: was looking for a job. He was trying to make
- 9:10Speaker 6: an honest living for those first few months.
- 9:12Speaker 1: And was supposedly working in the oil field.
- 9:15Speaker 6: Right yeah, yeah, yeah, and going out to West Texas
- 9:19Speaker 6: to working on oil field where again acquaint to his family.
- 9:22Speaker 6: He was staying clean and doing well.
- 9:24Speaker 1: And while he was in prison, Tyler got married to another.
- 9:28Speaker 6: Guy, right yes, yeah.
- 9:31Speaker 1: But then not long after Christopher's out of prison, they reunite.
- 9:37Speaker 6: Yes, we don't know the circumstances of how they got
- 9:40Speaker 6: together or when they got together, but we know that
- 9:44Speaker 6: he was seeing her and I think I remember Kimberly
- 9:49Speaker 6: talking about them trying to get the kids back, So
- 9:53Speaker 6: maybe that's how they got back into contact, was to
- 9:56Speaker 6: talk about the custody issues.
- 9:57Speaker 3: Oh yeah, they.
- 9:59Speaker 6: Ended up getting back into contact.
- 10:02Speaker 1: They move into a trailer on Tyler's uncle's property.
- 10:06Speaker 6: Yes, he starts spending more and more time out that trailer.
- 10:11Speaker 1: And that's where they start using drugs again.
- 10:15Speaker 8: Yep.
- 10:16Speaker 1: Christopher had been out of prison for less than six
- 10:19Speaker 1: months when Thanksgiving rolled around in twenty twenty, and Kimberly
- 10:22Speaker 1: got that horrible feeling about her son, that Christopher was
- 10:26Speaker 1: about to die. Kimberly had just spoken to Christopher a
- 10:30Speaker 1: couple of days earlier, and she talked to him about Tyler.
- 10:32Speaker 1: Apparently things were not going well for the couple.
- 10:36Speaker 2: And I went to stay in the car with him
- 10:38Speaker 2: and he said, Mama, I would die for her.
- 10:41Speaker 3: I said, christ do you really mean that?
- 10:42Speaker 2: And he said, yes, Mama, I do, I would.
- 10:45Speaker 9: Die for her.
- 10:45Speaker 2: I went and told the dog for I sing, my
- 10:47Speaker 2: son's fixing to die, and he gave me anxiety feels
- 10:51Speaker 2: and simeon.
- 10:57Speaker 1: Christopher Whitely before he died, was staying with his longtime
- 11:01Speaker 1: on and off girlfriend, Tyler Messina at her great uncle's place.
- 11:05Speaker 1: It was right outside the Texas town of Lapan. That's
- 11:09Speaker 1: pronounced light Pan, right, yes, kind of a Liepan Whpan.
- 11:13Speaker 1: Liepan is tiny, about five hundred people.
- 11:16Speaker 6: Liepan isn't even a one stoplight town. It's a highway.
- 11:22Speaker 6: It's a gas station, in a library, in a post office,
- 11:25Speaker 6: and that's about it.
- 11:27Speaker 1: The town's about forty miles up the road from Dublin,
- 11:29Speaker 1: the little town where Christopher grew up. It's in a
- 11:32Speaker 1: part of Texas called the Western Cross timbers where right
- 11:35Speaker 1: in the middle of the prairie, there's randomly all these
- 11:37Speaker 1: trees and hills. Just one week after Christopher told Kimberly
- 11:41Speaker 1: he was willing to die for Tyler, the couple stayed
- 11:44Speaker 1: up late partying Tuesday night spilled into Wednesday morning.
- 11:49Speaker 2: Something but I'm drinking all money, heaving a party till
- 11:52Speaker 2: three thirty in the morning. Christcher did try to call
- 11:55Speaker 2: me that morning. Okay, I missed the call because I
- 11:58Speaker 2: turned the phone off.
- 12:00Speaker 1: Kimberly missed his call, but Christopher got ahold of his dad,
- 12:03Speaker 1: Robert at seven forty one am. Christopher said he was
- 12:06Speaker 1: having some kind of emergency.
- 12:08Speaker 3: It couldn't an emergency.
- 12:09Speaker 9: He needed to ride from there because proposing to the
- 12:13Speaker 9: people in that house or somebody's out there leaving and
- 12:16Speaker 9: he needs to ride.
- 12:18Speaker 1: You're hearing Robert in a recording made by the local
- 12:20Speaker 1: sheriff's office.
- 12:22Speaker 9: He was talking to me that there was a undrew
- 12:23Speaker 9: or three people in the background.
- 12:26Speaker 1: Hang on a minute, he said, I gotta walk away.
- 12:29Speaker 1: But Christopher didn't give any names. He didn't say who
- 12:31Speaker 1: he had to walk away from.
- 12:33Speaker 9: Oh, he had to walked away from him, drank him
- 12:36Speaker 9: talk filmy, and he talked to me for a while
- 12:38Speaker 9: and I stood fun hung up, and I went ahead
- 12:41Speaker 9: and start getting dressed.
- 12:42Speaker 6: All this.
- 12:43Speaker 9: That called me back again and trought me.
- 12:45Speaker 3: A little bit more, and I'd be on my waist.
- 12:48Speaker 9: I told him, I said, I said, I don't never
- 12:50Speaker 9: go out there. If something went out, skin like geograph
- 12:54Speaker 9: were done.
- 12:54Speaker 3: One lady's hanger, his sold out.
- 12:56Speaker 1: I know that was hard to follow. Robert said he
- 12:59Speaker 1: could hear two or three people in the background. He
- 13:02Speaker 1: told Christopher that he told him to never go over
- 13:04Speaker 1: there to Tyler's place, and the phone call ended abruptly.
- 13:08Speaker 1: Robert wasn't sure if Christopher hung up or if someone
- 13:11Speaker 1: made him hang up, whatever was going on. Robert hit
- 13:14Speaker 1: the road for lightpan doug Man.
- 13:17Speaker 9: I got there, I called his fine.
- 13:21Speaker 1: Somebody answered the call, but no one said anything. Robert
- 13:24Speaker 1: stayed on the line for about two minutes nothing, and
- 13:27Speaker 1: then I just.
- 13:28Speaker 9: Found up because that stuff I would ask through it.
- 13:30Speaker 9: I parked the one side of the road all called him,
- 13:33Speaker 9: said him, I was there. That's say him. I was there,
- 13:36Speaker 9: and as he neither would have thrown I called the
- 13:38Speaker 9: phone twenty one time, sitting there fifteen twenty minutes I
- 13:42Speaker 9: was there. I never begin to get it after his phone.
- 13:44Speaker 1: After I called her, so something's obviously going on. Christopher's
- 13:49Speaker 1: having an emergency. Robert drives all the way over to Lightpan.
- 13:53Speaker 1: He calls his son a bunch, waits there for a while,
- 13:56Speaker 1: but when Christopher never shows, he eventually leaves and drives
- 13:59Speaker 1: back to Dublin. Kimberly woke up later in the day
- 14:03Speaker 1: and also tried to call Christopher, but he didn't answer her.
- 14:06Speaker 1: No one could get a hold of him, not his parents,
- 14:08Speaker 1: not his friends. Kimberly was also trying to get in
- 14:11Speaker 1: touch with Tyler. Finally, Tyler responded to a direct message
- 14:15Speaker 1: on Facebook.
- 14:16Speaker 2: I said, did you find Christopher?
- 14:18Speaker 3: She said, we're napping.
- 14:21Speaker 1: I've seen a screenshot of this exchange. First, Tyler says,
- 14:24Speaker 1: Chris is asleep. Is he with you? Kimberly asks, and
- 14:28Speaker 1: Tyler responds, yeah, we're napping. The screenshot isn't timestamped, so
- 14:32Speaker 1: I can't be exactly sure when Tyler and Kimberly were
- 14:35Speaker 1: sending these messages. But it's weird for Tyler to say
- 14:38Speaker 1: she and Christopher were napping when in truth she hadn't
- 14:41Speaker 1: seen him all day. Whatever, was going on. It wasn't
- 14:44Speaker 1: until the following afternoon, more than thirty hours since Christopher
- 14:48Speaker 1: was last seen, that anybody bothered.
- 14:51Speaker 4: To call the law head County nine one one. What's
- 14:54Speaker 4: the address? Have your emergency?
- 15:02Speaker 1: Christopher had this friend named Pollie Huggins. Pollie is the
- 15:05Speaker 1: one who finally dialed nine to one one. She wasn't
- 15:08Speaker 1: reporting an emergency, not exactly. Polly just wasn't sure what
- 15:12Speaker 1: else to do.
- 15:14Speaker 4: I don't know how to do this because I've never
- 15:15Speaker 4: had to. But I had a friend Paul, saying that
- 15:19Speaker 4: her boyfriend thought that boyfriend came to Minting, which is
- 15:21Speaker 4: one of my really good friends. And she's claiming that
- 15:26Speaker 4: he up in just West in the middle of night
- 15:29Speaker 4: or something like that. And I've tried to get her
- 15:31Speaker 4: to go walk and looking for him, and she's like, oh, well,
- 15:35Speaker 4: you know, giving me all kinds of stories.
- 15:38Speaker 1: Polly wanted someone from the Sheriff's office to go check
- 15:40Speaker 1: on her friend.
- 15:41Speaker 4: It sounds are you sketchy like to me and his
- 15:45Speaker 4: entire family. I just want to know if he's okay, okay?
- 15:48Speaker 3: What's his name?
- 15:49Speaker 4: Christopher Alan Whiteley? Is there a history of violin or
- 15:55Speaker 4: drug or alcoholis well, actually I'm I'm going to tell
- 16:00Speaker 4: you the truth.
- 16:01Speaker 3: She's on probation.
- 16:02Speaker 4: He just got out of prison for trying to kill her.
- 16:05Speaker 1: At one time, according to Paulie, Tyler's ken folk were
- 16:09Speaker 1: threatening Christopher and telling him to stay away. Christopher had
- 16:13Speaker 1: done pretty much the opposite of that, and I heard
- 16:15Speaker 1: her uncle talk to him the way her family talks.
- 16:18Speaker 4: To him on the phone, you know, like if y'all
- 16:19Speaker 4: ever get back together with promise, we'll do something to you.
- 16:21Speaker 4: Like I said, he hasn't been out of prison long.
- 16:24Speaker 4: We tried to keep him around us and keep her away,
- 16:27Speaker 4: but he says up being down there in love blah
- 16:30Speaker 4: blah blah, and we'll tell me it's a bad deal
- 16:32Speaker 4: with Paull that I can too.
- 16:34Speaker 1: It was also hard to understand who was over at
- 16:37Speaker 1: the house that night.
- 16:38Speaker 4: She kept saying it was like two people, and she's like,
- 16:40Speaker 4: I never heard them get out of bed and here
- 16:42Speaker 4: accuse them. I was like, why didn't he calls cops
- 16:44Speaker 4: like he could be anywhere. So that's why Paul joel,
- 16:48Speaker 4: because she's not showing any ascrout in my eyes, if.
- 16:52Speaker 1: You didn't follow that, Polly said. Tyler also told her
- 16:55Speaker 1: there were two people with him that night and she
- 16:58Speaker 1: never heard them get out of bed. Paully wanted Tyler
- 17:01Speaker 1: to call the cops, but she wouldn't do it, and
- 17:05Speaker 1: Polly's eyes, Tyler wasn't making any effort to find Christopher.
- 17:10Speaker 1: Shortly after Polly's nine to one one call, two deputies
- 17:13Speaker 1: from the Hood County Sheriff's Office arrive at the property.
- 17:16Speaker 1: It's stuck behind some trees on Howl Road, this narrow
- 17:19Speaker 1: road that winds through the country about a mile outside
- 17:22Speaker 1: of Laipan. On their bodycam videos, Deputy Daniel Martin and
- 17:26Speaker 1: Deputy Tyler Looper are seen knocking on the door.
- 17:31Speaker 3: Morning.
- 17:34Speaker 1: An older man comes to the door. His name is
- 17:38Speaker 1: Kenneth Impy and he's technically Tyler's great uncle, but he
- 17:41Speaker 1: often refers to Tyler as his granddaughter. He owns the
- 17:45Speaker 1: property where Tyler and Christopher had been staying and he
- 17:48Speaker 1: lives there too. He's mostly bald on top, with scraggly
- 17:52Speaker 1: long gray hair on the sides and a long gray beard.
- 17:55Speaker 3: Oh Christopher here now? If there he isn't? Is his girlfriend?
- 18:02Speaker 1: My granddaughter?
- 18:04Speaker 9: Fo?
- 18:05Speaker 3: Yeah? Can we speak with her?
- 18:06Speaker 9: Huh?
- 18:07Speaker 3: We're here just checking on Christopher.
- 18:09Speaker 7: He was here, and yesterday morning, when I got up,
- 18:14Speaker 7: my front door was open.
- 18:15Speaker 4: He was gone.
- 18:17Speaker 1: We had no idea where he's at. Tyler comes out
- 18:21Speaker 1: of another room, pulling on a hoodie.
- 18:24Speaker 3: We're looking for Chris.
- 18:27Speaker 1: When Tyler hears Christopher's name, she kind of flinches or
- 18:29Speaker 1: shrugs and goes bug eyed for a second. I don't
- 18:33Speaker 1: really know how to interpret her reaction.
- 18:35Speaker 8: Uh yeah, I've been looking for him too. He left
- 18:38Speaker 8: yesterday morning, didn't even wake me up or anything.
- 18:41Speaker 3: Why would he leave to go to work?
- 18:44Speaker 1: Christopher technically had a job, but he hadn't been showing up.
- 18:47Speaker 1: His friends had called his work, but he wasn't there.
- 18:50Speaker 3: So he left for work and never came back. And
- 18:53Speaker 3: you didn't think that was weird.
- 18:54Speaker 8: I did think it was weird. That's when I started
- 18:56Speaker 8: calling his friends and his parents. I was like, did
- 18:58Speaker 8: y'all come pick him up? Because he didn't tell me why.
- 19:00Speaker 3: So between four and seven he left.
- 19:03Speaker 8: I was passed out on the bed. I remember hearing
- 19:05Speaker 8: him faintly talk on the phone to somebody about coming
- 19:08Speaker 8: to get him. But I didn't think it was going
- 19:10Speaker 8: to be right then and there. And next thing I know,
- 19:13Speaker 8: I wake up at already eight and he's not there.
- 19:16Speaker 3: Are y'all fighting?
- 19:16Speaker 8: Oh no, we're just cleaning and drinking.
- 19:19Speaker 1: Deputy Daniel Martin asks to see Tyler's phone and he
- 19:23Speaker 1: scrolls through Oliver text with Christopher. The messages are hard
- 19:26Speaker 1: to read on the body cam video, but there are
- 19:29Speaker 1: a lot, all of them from Tyler.
- 19:32Speaker 3: Is there any reason that you would feel like he's
- 19:34Speaker 3: in danger?
- 19:35Speaker 4: I don't.
- 19:36Speaker 5: I don't think so.
- 19:37Speaker 8: I mean, I just I don't know.
- 19:38Speaker 6: So it's not abnormal for him just kind of take
- 19:40Speaker 6: out them.
- 19:41Speaker 8: This is very weird. Like I was trying to say earlier,
- 19:44Speaker 8: he calls me like every fought for ten minutes. I
- 19:47Speaker 8: haven't had a phone call in two days.
- 19:49Speaker 7: Does you have any enemies anybody that's been calling, harassing
- 19:52Speaker 7: y'all anything like that.
- 19:53Speaker 8: He's harassed us, But he always has had enemies, I
- 19:57Speaker 8: mean everywhere. But this just this doesn't make sense.
- 20:00Speaker 1: You know, that's kind of interesting. Tyler says, Christopher has
- 20:04Speaker 1: enemies everywhere. The deputy again asks Tyler if she and
- 20:08Speaker 1: Christopher had been fighting.
- 20:10Speaker 8: We argue off and on like a normal couple, So
- 20:12Speaker 8: I think they're number.
- 20:13Speaker 6: He had went to go to work he.
- 20:15Speaker 8: Was just not going to text me like I usually
- 20:16Speaker 8: don't text him whenever I'm out at.
- 20:18Speaker 3: Him, so, you know, no, And that's the thing. We
- 20:22Speaker 3: didn't even go to sleeve mat or anything.
- 20:23Speaker 8: We weren't even fighting, and that's why I started to realize.
- 20:26Speaker 8: I was like, we weren't even fighting, So what is
- 20:29Speaker 8: really going on?
- 20:31Speaker 1: Deputy Martin looks at Tyler's text messages with Christopher's dad Robert.
- 20:35Speaker 3: This his dad, Robert? Yes, why does he think somebody
- 20:38Speaker 3: dumped him in the ditch?
- 20:39Speaker 5: I know, that's what I said. I was like, wow,
- 20:42Speaker 5: he told me that on the phone.
- 20:44Speaker 8: I was like, how can you just talk about your kids?
- 20:46Speaker 1: So, using Tyler's phone, Deputy Martin steps outside to call
- 20:50Speaker 1: Christopher's dad.
- 20:52Speaker 3: What did you think, Robert? Yeah, this is Deputy Martin.
- 20:56Speaker 3: It's the Hook County Sheriff's office.
- 20:59Speaker 1: Her Christopher's dad, Robert answers the call from Tyler's phone.
- 21:10Speaker 1: It's the Sheriff's deputy.
- 21:12Speaker 3: We're out here.
- 21:12Speaker 7: We were called to check on your son, Chris, because
- 21:15Speaker 7: nobody's heard from me.
- 21:17Speaker 9: That's right again, I mean people texting me and all
- 21:21Speaker 9: that looking for him.
- 21:22Speaker 1: I don't don't worry.
- 21:23Speaker 7: That is this weird that he would have took off
- 21:25Speaker 7: and he's not answering his phone or texting or anybody.
- 21:30Speaker 1: It takes a while for Robert to answer, kind of.
- 21:38Speaker 1: Robert goes on to tell the deputy about the weird
- 21:40Speaker 1: phone calls he had with Christopher the previous morning. How
- 21:43Speaker 1: Christopher said he was dealing with an emergency and needed
- 21:46Speaker 1: his dad to come get him.
- 21:48Speaker 3: Did he say what the emergency was.
- 21:50Speaker 9: No, Well, the thing he told me people out there
- 21:54Speaker 9: or somebody was out there and fiction to leave, and
- 21:55Speaker 9: they were going somewhere and he couldn't stay there, so
- 21:58Speaker 9: he had to leave and he had.
- 22:01Speaker 3: Do you think he could be in danger? Uh? Poshi Blake?
- 22:05Speaker 4: Yes.
- 22:07Speaker 1: The deputy calls the Hood County Jail to see if
- 22:09Speaker 1: Chris has been arrested, but he's not in jail. He's
- 22:12Speaker 1: not at the local hospital either. Back inside the house,
- 22:15Speaker 1: Tyler is pressed on who was actually at the house
- 22:18Speaker 1: that night that Chris disappeared.
- 22:21Speaker 3: Who else was out here when he called his dad.
- 22:25Speaker 7: His dad said he could hear people in the background
- 22:28Speaker 7: and he said, I need a ride.
- 22:30Speaker 3: People out here leaving.
- 22:34Speaker 1: Tyler raises another possibility. She tells the deputies that Christopher
- 22:38Speaker 1: had been complaining of chest pain. She also said his
- 22:40Speaker 1: blood pressure was low, but her great uncle Kenneth contradicts her.
- 22:44Speaker 2: It was one forty six over seventy six.
- 22:47Speaker 3: One forty six over seventy six.
- 22:50Speaker 1: That's not terrible, he asks Uncle Kenneth one of the
- 22:53Speaker 1: same questions he just asked, Tyler.
- 22:56Speaker 3: Is anybody else here with y'all? No? Okay, uh like,
- 23:01Speaker 3: get that there.
- 23:02Speaker 1: He did walk you out.
- 23:05Speaker 7: We're gonna ping your cell phone if it's in the area,
- 23:07Speaker 7: We're gonna obviously look.
- 23:08Speaker 3: For right now.
- 23:09Speaker 7: We don't know if he's on it, if he went
- 23:13Speaker 7: to walk to meet his dad and passed out and
- 23:15Speaker 7: a ditch.
- 23:15Speaker 3: Should we do We don't know.
- 23:18Speaker 1: Deputy Martin radio's is dispatcher. Within ten minutes, they get
- 23:21Speaker 1: a ping on Christopher's phone. It's showing that his phone
- 23:24Speaker 1: is just three tenths of a mile southwest of the
- 23:27Speaker 1: trailer home. Deputy Martin and Deputy Looper make their way
- 23:31Speaker 1: through the woods to that ping location. The ping was
- 23:34Speaker 1: supposed to be accurate to within four meters or about
- 23:37Speaker 1: thirteen feet, but it's getting dark and cold and the
- 23:40Speaker 1: deputies can't really see anything. They widen their search. Other
- 23:45Speaker 1: first responders from the volunteer Fire Department and the Sheriff's
- 23:49Speaker 1: office begin to arrive, but they still can't really find anything.
- 23:53Speaker 1: They're getting ready to leave the woods when one of
- 23:55Speaker 1: the men finds this blue bag next to a tree.
- 23:59Speaker 1: It's sitting in a pull of blood. He opens the
- 24:03Speaker 1: bag and inside he finds paperwork with Christopher's name on it.
- 24:08Speaker 1: Then he notices the small trail of blood it's leading
- 24:12Speaker 1: away from the bag, more little drops of blood every
- 24:14Speaker 1: few feet. Going deeper into the woods. About twenty yards
- 24:19Speaker 1: from the bag and that pull of blood, they find
- 24:21Speaker 1: a bunch of brushes and sticks, and underneath it's Christopher.
- 24:26Speaker 1: He's curled up in the fetal position, lifeless. When they
- 24:32Speaker 1: roll him over, that's when they see Christopher's neck and
- 24:35Speaker 1: they realize there's a killer on the loose. Next time
- 24:41Speaker 1: on The Unforgotten, our top story tonight, he.
- 24:44Speaker 3: Could have been surprised. We don't really know. It doesn't
