- 0:03Happy Sunday morning everybody. Breaking news in the garage
- 0:09area, Saturday, August 23rd starting at 8:00 AM.
- 0:16Big garage sale right here at my race shop.
- 0:20Now we'll be racing peebly that night, so I'll be getting the
- 0:23car ready on that day. But big garage sale.
- 0:28I told my wife and her mom. I said, listen, we're clean
- 0:32people. And then Dee said to me, but
- 0:35it's getting cluttered around here, isn't it?
- 0:37I said yes. And I said, I've been giving you
- 0:40guys years, but you just won't get rid of your stuff.
- 0:45They go to that damn casino and they win a fake knife or, you
- 0:49know, liquor or they need to sell some of that liquor up
- 0:52there. My God, we got so much liquor.
- 0:56That's what happens. They they goat rope you and they
- 0:58come into that casino. Hey, come on, man.
- 1:01Here, spend $1000. We'll give you an electric
- 1:04knife. But we, we just got stuff.
- 1:09Puzzles and Kim's been collecting clothes forever.
- 1:14My God, she's cleaned out her closet is a massive amount of
- 1:17stuff. I'm, I'm selling some stuff too.
- 1:20I don't know what I'm selling, but I got stuff.
- 1:22So come on out. August 23rd is my birthday.
- 1:28It's going to be my birthday. We're racing peebly that night
- 1:32and it's a garage sale. August 23rd, 8:00 AM.
- 1:36Come on up here, we'll have a good time.
- 1:38OK, Sip of coffee last night. Highland IL Highland
- 1:48Superspeedway 29 cars first tee. I started 5th and I won.
- 1:55That was the most passing points so that put me on the pole for
- 1:58the feature. I let about half this feature
- 2:01and this kid come blown by me like John Force.
- 2:04He was ripping the lip, dirt was flying and I didn't have nothing
- 2:09for him. Then all of a sudden I started
- 2:13catching him and come down the back straightaway to the
- 2:17checkered flag tied come off at turn 4 and I didn't see him but
- 2:24I knew he was going to come back and the timing monitor says I
- 2:28lost by 0.10, a 10th I guess, or a foot.
- 2:34So I run second last night in Highland, IL Really, really good
- 2:38run. I still think of Earnhardt as
- 2:41soon as I go, darn it, I think of Earnhardt.
- 2:44I was what was it, 1991, that Cox tree lumber car?
- 2:51I was bitching. You know when you run good, you
- 2:53go, I run second. You know when you run good, you
- 2:56start acting stupid. You're like, I run second.
- 3:00Taylor and our seniors straighten me out.
- 3:02He looked me right in face. He says, boy, you're racing
- 3:06really good. You take those seconds.
- 3:08It's not called winning. I'm just I'm not that good.
- 3:12So we run good last night. I think I think I earned hard a
- 3:16lot, you know, because he taught me a lot of a lot of things, a
- 3:20lot of ways to justify. So however, I think that's about
- 3:25my 7th, it is my 7th 2nd place finish.
- 3:30So OK, man, oh man, we got a lot of news in the garage area.
- 3:35First of all, the Knoxville Nationals.
- 3:39Knoxville, IA Knoxville, IA, The Knoxville Nationals, the
- 3:45granddaddy of them all, the biggest basically World of
- 3:49Outlaws Sprint car race there is in the world.
- 3:52Not the United States, but the world.
- 3:54And this baby pays like 190,000 to win.
- 3:59Probably the greatest payoff in Motorsports history I've ever
- 4:03seen, $15,000 to start. To start, Ryan Timms, 18 years
- 4:11old, youngest driver since 1964. Now this Knoxville Nationals,
- 4:20it's always been historical, but now I see the verbiage they're
- 4:23using is like Indy 500 verbiage they're using, they're using
- 4:28like, you know, you know how when something's real legendary
- 4:33and they start, you know, the, the 64th running, you know, like
- 4:37Churchill Downs. So I noticed that they're
- 4:40starting to do that at Knoxville.
- 4:42They're starting to use everything in the legendary
- 4:45voice terms. So the Knoxville Nationals is
- 4:49their granddaddy. And this 18 year old kid that we
- 4:53all know but never saw it coming.
- 4:57I know his dad a little bit. I've never met his dad, but his
- 5:00dad called me 6-7 years ago. His dad called me wanting to
- 5:05sponsor me, but I knew they was sponsoring Joe Duvall.
- 5:10So I called Duvall up and I didn't want Duvall to be mad at
- 5:14me. But anyway, it never it never
- 5:15went down. But his dad owns, what is it,
- 5:19WFX trucking company, Randy Timms.
- 5:26But I'm really happy for him. Everybody's sharing their
- 5:31stories right now because the owner, the owner of Ryan Timms
- 5:37car, they were starting on the pole.
- 5:39Well, listen to this. The last three Knoxville
- 5:42Nationals winner have come from the pole.
- 5:46Now, if I was to be a Dick, I'd say it was the most boring race
- 5:50I've ever watched in my life. But because we all love World of
- 5:55Outlaw and Sprint car racing, he won by straightaway.
- 6:00It was no race whatsoever, but it's a historical race so I'm
- 6:04gonna let y'all get away with it.
- 6:08He put an ass weapon on him and for that you got to appreciate.
- 6:14And I do gravel and this is really good.
- 6:19So gravel comes from like 21st to 3rd Rico Abreu runs second.
- 6:26What? You want to know how I know?
- 6:27All this while I was up till 2:00 in the morning scrolling
- 6:29Facebook. So anyway, congratulations to
- 6:35Ryan Timms on the big win, Rico Abreu on 2nd.
- 6:40And I'll tell you one thing that's going good right now with
- 6:42World of Outlaw is the fans. It it, it's a snowball effect
- 6:48there. He's another Bush brother.
- 6:53David Gravel. He didn't see it coming.
- 6:56David Gravel did not see it coming.
- 6:58This whole deal started with him and Kyle Larson going at it
- 7:03about a month ago with Eldora. And all of a sudden the fans
- 7:06said, oh, you're whining, You're crying because those guys are,
- 7:10you know, not Sprint cars, but more so midgets.
- 7:13They throw dirty sliders on each other.
- 7:16They just go the at it, boy. There you go.
- 7:21You did the whole damn coffee with Kenny without cussing and
- 7:24you had to say it, didn't you? OK, respond right here with
- 7:31everything you feel about the Knoxville Nationals.
- 7:33I think it's a wonderful event. And by the way, Ryan, Tim's car
- 7:41owner was questioned before the race.
- 7:42He goes, what? You're starting on the pole.
- 7:44The last two Knoxville race has been won from the pole.
- 7:49And the owner looked at the guy and said, we're going to shock
- 7:51the nation. Ryan's going to win this race.
- 7:53We're going to do it. And they did it.
- 7:56They did it. So like Babe Ruth, the owner.
- 7:59Congratulations to them. I don't know any of those guys,
- 8:02but I've never met Ryan Timms. But David Gravel.
- 8:08Keep it up, buddy. World of Outlaw needs to pay you
- 8:12show up money because now they're coming to see you.
- 8:15Hey, how about Slam and Sammy? How about Slam and Sammy and now
- 8:20Slam and Sammy? Swindell adds to David Gravel's
- 8:24legendary status. Now Sammy gets by earlier in the
- 8:29week, you know, on the bottom or wherever, and Sammy swing, there
- 8:32goes. If I was in his car, I'd kick
- 8:35his ass. Hey, it's good to see the old
- 8:39man feisty. I never saw that coming.
- 8:42I I never saw Slammy's slamming. Sammy still racing.
- 8:47You know, Kinser quit at 60 years old and Sammy, just Sammy
- 8:53reminds me of Billy Moyer, the dad Billy Morty just shows up
- 8:57every once in a while. And you know, those guys are so
- 9:01Great Hall of Farmers. They just they'll show up every
- 9:03once in a while and we just when you think they're down and out
- 9:05and they'll have a flash of their legendary status.
- 9:08So Sprint car racing got a lot of lot going on right now.
- 9:13A lot, a lot of entertainment. So all right, Connor Zilich.
- 9:21Damn. We're switching subjects.
- 9:29The Xfinity race at Watkins Glen counters.
- 9:32Zilich wins, wins 4 out of five of the last five races.
- 9:37Kids A phenomenon. Crowds on feet.
- 9:40He goes to Victory Lane. By the way, he wrecked his.
- 9:44He wrecked his teammate SVG guy. He was fast, Connor Zilich.
- 9:50Every time he looked up he had a 5-6 second lead.
- 9:54So Connor wins the race and goes to Victory Lane, goes to stand
- 10:00on top his door, not the roof but the side of his door and
- 10:04loses his footing, falls down and his foot gets stuck inside
- 10:10the car. One of his foot legs get stuck
- 10:12inside the car. He falls down and like a sludge
- 10:15hammer, his head smashes into the ground, knocks him out or
- 10:19whatever. So it was a, it was a tough look
- 10:22and seen. I, I, I, my heart hurt for
- 10:26Connor, my heart hurt for Connor Zilich.
- 10:30But they take him off an ambulance or as Dale Senior
- 10:34would say, or some of you down South say they took him off in
- 10:38the ambulance. If you get a really good country
- 10:42person down South, they don't use EU, you know, ambulance.
- 10:46There's AU in that, but I guess you could say, uh, unbelievable.
- 10:52Yeah, if, if you spell the word unbelievable, it starts with AU,
- 10:57unbelievable ambulance. So I guess you could say
- 11:01ambulance Earnhardt say I don't need to get in that ambulance.
- 11:05Get out of here. So the ambulance takes Connor's
- 11:08village to the hospital and he's got a broken collarbone.
- 11:15I'm gonna leave you like this. Something that I really liked.
- 11:19He's starting 25th. He qualified 25th for the Cup
- 11:22race today. Connor did, but they just
- 11:25withdrew from the race. It was very fresh to go.
- 11:28Oh, we got to put somebody in it because we got a sponsor.
- 11:33So track house, race team said no, we're just going to
- 11:39withdraw. So instead of 40 cars starting
- 11:42the Cup race day, they'll be 39. So that's really nice.
- 11:47That's very rare. Very refreshing to see and shows
- 11:52a little bit of respect to Connor too.
- 11:56So all right, everybody respond right here.
- 11:58We talked about it all. Remember August 23rd, 8 AM, 8:00
- 12:03AM. Slow down Herman, slow down.
- 12:06August 23rd, 8:00 AM. Here to shop.
- 12:09Big garage sale. It's my birthday and I'm racing
- 12:13that night. It's going to be like a big
- 12:15fair. We have everything going on.
- 12:17I'll let you come in my race shop.
- 12:19How's that? And we'll sign autographs.
- 12:21Whatever we got to do. Have a great Sunday.
