- 0:23This is Deep Dive into Joy, and I'm your host,
- 0:27Gina Richter. Hey, Joe listeners. It's your host,
- 0:30Gina Richter. Welcome back to Deep Dive into
- 0:33Joy, the podcast where we talk about testimonies,
- 0:36God's Word, health and wellness, and how God
- 0:39shows up in our everyday lives. I hope you join
- 0:42us and enjoy today's episode. Today, Bobby and
- 0:46I are sitting down and sharing our own journeys
- 0:49when it comes to how we disciple others and impactful
- 0:53stories of how we have been discipled. Before
- 0:56we get into it, I want to share today's sponsors
- 0:59of the podcast. So first up, we have Midday Squares.
- 1:03You guys are going to absolutely love these.
- 1:05They just came out with a new flavor, the nostalgic
- 1:08flavor you grew up with, reimagined of how we
- 1:11actually snack today. No crumbs, no mess, just
- 1:14a smooth, satisfying, you heard it, PB &J square
- 1:19that holds together and melts perfectly when
- 1:22you bite in. It's a childhood comfort upgraded
- 1:26for modern snacking. So make sure you guys try
- 1:29it today. That is their new one they just released.
- 1:32My favorite is the chocolate chip cookie dough.
- 1:34But really what I love about these bars is that
- 1:37they are non -GMO. all great ingredients and
- 1:41they don't raise your blood sugar. That is one
- 1:44of the number one factors when it comes to eating
- 1:46something sweet. You don't want your blood sugar
- 1:48being on this roller coaster all day long. So
- 1:52having a snack that you know when I'm craving
- 1:55a sweet I can snack on that's not going to harm
- 1:57my body, you bet I'm going to buy it. So you
- 2:02can try their, like I said, their new PB &J.
- 2:05They have peanut butter, almond crunch, my favorite
- 2:07chocolate chip cookie dough, brownie batter,
- 2:10and crunchy peanut. They are just the right size
- 2:14and snack for my midday craving and pick -me
- 2:16-up. They have six grams of protein and four
- 2:19grams of fiber. You're going to want to stock
- 2:21up on these, so make sure you check out my link.
- 2:25It's www .middaysquares .com slash all capital
- 2:29deep. dive D -E -E -P -D -I -V. And again, I
- 2:34list these in the show notes so that it's easier
- 2:36to find to make savings. Up next, we have pure
- 2:42soul sunscreen. OK, I know it's the middle of
- 2:45winter, at least for us here in PA. But did you
- 2:49know that you still need sunscreen in the winter?
- 2:52Yes, you're still receiving the rays of the sun
- 2:55even when it's hidden behind those clouds. So,
- 3:00Purcell is one of my favorites because it is
- 3:03a natural sunscreen. So, you get the sunscreen,
- 3:08it has like this little brush on the end and
- 3:10it's a powder, like a mineral based and it's
- 3:15made without non -nano zinc oxide and Purcell
- 3:19provides broad spectrum SPF between 30 and 50.
- 3:24Now that's reef safe, skin safe, and mom approved.
- 3:28Like I said, it's an easy application anytime,
- 3:30anywhere. So you just brush the powder on, there's
- 3:33no greasy residue, no white cast, and no need
- 3:37to reapply with your hands. You just tap, brush,
- 3:40and go. Now I pack these in my car or beach bag.
- 3:44Pretty much anywhere I go, I have it on hand.
- 3:46It's perfect for all skin types. Gentle enough
- 3:50for sensitive skin. Tough enough to block UVA
- 3:53and UVB rays. Wear it alone or over your makeup
- 3:57for a flawless matte finish. You can choose multiple
- 4:01shades and even ones that have a little hint
- 4:03of shimmer. They have the cutest bottles and
- 4:07they even have an SPF lip gloss and chapstick
- 4:10along with their daily moisturizers. So if you
- 4:15want clean, conscious, convenient, free of harmful
- 4:18chemicals because your skin care deserves better.
- 4:23Make sure you're not putting chemicals on your
- 4:25skin because your skin is your largest organ
- 4:28and it absorbs everything. So protect your glow
- 4:32the pure soul way. Visit my link at www .soulbrush

- 4:40use my code deep dive all capital at checkout
- 4:42if it doesn't automatically populate for you.
- 4:46I will also, again, post in the show notes so
- 4:48it's easier to find the link. Make sure that
- 4:51you go shop Pearsoul. That's Pearsoul because
- 4:54your skin deserves the best. Okay, guys, I am
- 5:00writing solo again this week. I hope to have
- 5:03Bobby on next week, but we were gonna sit down
- 5:06and share our own journeys when it came to how
- 5:10to disciple others and just some impactful stories
- 5:13that we had. ourselves about being discipled
- 5:17but you know I just thought that would be a good
- 5:21idea just kind of show how we are discipling
- 5:25others in this stage of our lives and I thought
- 5:28leading by example would be a good idea to share
- 5:31so others can see that we're putting our words
- 5:33into action. So it took me a minute to really
- 5:40sit in this because I think that I mean, discipleship
- 5:46can look different in so many ways. It's not
- 5:49just one way or the highway. But personally for
- 5:53me, I think back to my teen days, and I know
- 5:57that I've referenced this in past episodes, but
- 6:02we would attend youth group every Sunday and
- 6:05Wednesday night. And youth group for me was such
- 6:07a highlight in my life and kind of like a rescue
- 6:10for me. It was an escape. I didn't grow up in
- 6:15a perfect childhood home or have just the perfect
- 6:21home setting. So getting away those nights was
- 6:24healing for me. And youth group, I feel in any
- 6:29circumstance is just amazing for teens, especially
- 6:32these days. So I just bless all the youth group
- 6:36pastors out there. You guys deserve more praise
- 6:39than what you get. But my youth group pastors
- 6:44had shaped my teen years in so many ways I actually
- 6:48had one of them on if you go back to the past
- 6:51episode it was with Susan Spade and we had talked
- 6:55a little bit about it so you can go back and
- 6:57listen to that but That's where I learned how
- 7:01to even use my Bible and read God's Word it's
- 7:05where we learn to memorize scripture and create
- 7:09true meaningful friendships and and we had so
- 7:14much fun. It was what set my heart on fire for
- 7:18God. At least, well, I know memorizing scripture,
- 7:25like that was one of our biggest things that
- 7:26would give us cards and we would have to memorize
- 7:30a verse every week and I don't know, I just thought
- 7:33that was really cool and I had so much fun doing
- 7:35that. But at 12, I gave my life over to the Lord
- 7:41and I was baptized at that time in the river
- 7:44that was by our church. But I wasn't raised in
- 7:49the church from the beginning. I don't even think
- 7:51we started attending until maybe I was 12. So
- 7:56when I started learning how much our Heavenly
- 7:58Father loved us, what heaven was, and I could
- 8:03share His Word with others, It just it gave me
- 8:07so much confidence to start sharing his word
- 8:10like even with my family members and my friends.
- 8:12I remember you know, I was so excited to Go back
- 8:20You know, we would spend a lot of time at my
- 8:23grandma's house and I was excited to like go
- 8:27tell my grandma about the Lord and try to get
- 8:30her saved and then I talked to my other Graham
- 8:33and you know, try to get some other family members
- 8:37on board. It doesn't always go the way you think
- 8:40it does, but our job is to plant the seeds and
- 8:43God will do the rest. So I remember, you know,
- 8:47at that age, I didn't know really what planting
- 8:49the seeds meant. I just wanted my family to come
- 8:51to heaven with me. So that was something that,
- 8:55you know, I just, I was on fire for the Lord
- 8:57at that moment. Now my earthly father was never,
- 9:02around and didn't really have a great relationship
- 9:05with my stepfather. So learning that I had a
- 9:09Heavenly Father who loved me so much, and I just
- 9:12really wanted that for others. And I think that's
- 9:16where my discipleship journey started, like I
- 9:19said, just within my own family. And like I said,
- 9:26it doesn't always go the way you plan, like especially
- 9:28when it comes to family, and it really hurts
- 9:30because you're just you're filled with the Holy
- 9:33Spirit and you want them to be filled too and
- 9:37you know that that can't happen until they really
- 9:41go through salvation and accept the Lord into
- 9:44their heart and you know I just I didn't get
- 9:47that out of some family members so it just really
- 9:50hurts but I don't stop praying for them because
- 9:54I know that through my prayers that God's doing
- 9:57something way bigger through those prayers than
- 9:59I could ever imagine and I hope that they do
- 10:01get saved one day. But I do remember sharing
- 10:05the gospel with my grandma who meant so much
- 10:08to me and I miss her so, so much. But I do remember
- 10:13getting her saved and then I went on and got
- 10:17one of my best friends saved. who had you know
- 10:19she had a lot of questions and I just remember
- 10:21sharing Jesus with her and getting her saved
- 10:24as well but um it just gave me a lot of confidence
- 10:28to you know when I got into my marriage to you
- 10:32know my husband knew that I was in faith and
- 10:35even through our marriage like I didn't really
- 10:41I mean I guess I wasn't really following the
- 10:44Lord as closely as I am now um So we really didn't
- 10:48walk in faith at the beginning of our marriage.
- 10:52And it's really cool to look back and see how
- 10:56God had His hand in everything and just how He
- 11:01has grown my family now. Like, I never imagined
- 11:05my husband would step into church with me and
- 11:08to just have my kids by my side and my husband
- 11:10there with me on Sundays, it's really cool to
- 11:13see. how the Lord has grown us and just how he's
- 11:17worked in our lives. So yeah, and then it just
- 11:22gave me more confidence to even be able to talk
- 11:24to like his family about things. And then praying
- 11:29over my family and kids daily is something that
- 11:32I do. And just staying in the Bible every day,
- 11:39even if it's one verse and it's two minutes.
- 11:44I think it's really important to be reading your
- 11:46Bible every day. So thinking back on all of that,
- 11:53it just reminded me that discipleship doesn't
- 11:56have to be fancy. You don't have to know it all.
- 12:00Now granted, like I said, I would encourage you
- 12:03to be in God's word daily so that you are leading
- 12:05people with discernment, but you can literally
- 12:11lead anyone. is going to equip you wherever you
- 12:16are and whomever you're discipling. You know,
- 12:20Jesus had 12 disciples. They were far from perfect.
- 12:26He literally picked them off the street. One
- 12:30of them was a tax collector. One was a warrior.
- 12:36One was definitely a doubter. You had one that,
- 12:40you know, a couple that were fishermen and the
- 12:43one who actually came to betray Jesus. They weren't
- 12:48polished spiritual superheroes. They were ordinary
- 12:53people learning obedience in real time. They
- 12:58didn't have it all figured out, but they said
- 13:01yes. Just like in the last episode, I said, you
- 13:06just have to start with a yes. And Discipleship
- 13:11starts with obedience before understanding. So
- 13:15even the disciples ask questions, lots of them.
- 13:19We have in Matthew 13 36, it explains the parable
- 13:22to us. A disciple admits, I don't know, but I
- 13:27want to learn. They failed when they relied on
- 13:31themselves. And in John 15 five, apart from me,
- 13:35you can do nothing. True discipleship is daily
- 13:39dependence not spiritual independence So the
- 13:45disciples they were willing to be corrected and
- 13:48Jesus rebuked them and stayed Matthew 16 23 It's
- 13:57kind of like, you know get behind me Satan a
- 14:00disciple doesn't walk away when correction comes
- 14:03they left comfort careers and security in their
- 14:08walk with Jesus. They literally left all of that
- 14:12behind to follow him. And in Luke 5 11, I see
- 14:18here that discipleship costs something, but it
- 14:23gives everything. They even learn to love the
- 14:27unlovely. And in John 13 35, By this everyone
- 14:33will know you are my disciples So love wasn't
- 14:37optional. It was the evidence They were fearful
- 14:41before the cross bold after the resurrection
- 14:45Disciples aren't fearless. They are spirit field
- 14:50He said he was leaving but he would leave someone
- 14:56to help us and that was the Holy Spirit The disciples
- 15:01didn't walk alone. Disciples grow together, not
- 15:05in isolation. And you can see Acts 2 -42 for
- 15:07that reference. They were sent, not just saved.
- 15:14And in Matthew 28 -19, go and make disciples.
- 15:19How more clear can God's Word be to us? A disciple
- 15:24eventually becomes a discipler. Prosecution didn't
- 15:30stop them either, it refined them, and disciples
- 15:34stay faithful even when it's hard. I think back
- 15:39to the 12 disciples, and if you don't know who
- 15:43they are, we had Peter, Andrew, James, John,
- 15:46Philip, Bartholomew, which was Nathaniel, Matthew,
- 15:49Thomas, James, Jude, Simon, and Judas Iscariot.
- 16:01Just I don't know. I just think back and how
- 16:04amazing it would be to actually be have Jesus
- 16:07in person and You know any question that you
- 16:13had just being able to sit down and talk with
- 16:15him and Have him right there with you I know
- 16:21We're filled with the Holy Spirit and we still
- 16:25talk to him in prayer daily, but just to have
- 16:28him face to face and And the way that the disciples
- 16:32had Him, you know, right at their hand, I just
- 16:35think that's really cool to think back on. But
- 16:39these disciples, they walked with Jesus, they
- 16:41ate with Him, they watched Him heal, teach, pray,
- 16:46and love. Jesus taught crowds, but explained
- 16:50things privately to His disciples. This is why
- 16:55staying in His Word and letting Him speak to
- 16:57you is so important. They witnessed miracles.
- 17:02They were sent out. They doubted, argued, denied
- 17:07Him, and ran away. So they even had Jesus in
- 17:11person right in front of them, you know, walking
- 17:14with Him at their hands. And, you know, they
- 17:20still weren't perfect. They still doubted, argued,
- 17:23denied. Yet Jesus restored them. Failure doesn't
- 17:28disqualify you. We have God's grace. And John
- 17:3321 says, do you love me? Then feed my sheep,
- 17:39which simply means if you love Jesus, go make
- 17:43more disciples, go make heaven crowded. That's
- 17:49why I did this podcast. My main. The focus was
- 17:54to make heaven crowded and to let people know
- 17:56they're not alone. After the resurrection, they
- 18:00received the Holy Spirit. They preached the gospel,
- 18:04they planted the early church, they suffered
- 18:07for their faith, and they made more disciples.
- 18:12This is where we join the family. We start with
- 18:19a yes, and we go make heaven crowded. That's
- 18:23our purpose on this earth. If you're questioning
- 18:26why you are here, maybe it's to lead that one
- 18:30person to Jesus. What wonderful words it will
- 18:35be to hear when we enter heaven is someone saying
- 18:38to us, I'm here because you weren't afraid to
- 18:41tell me about Jesus. Now I know this was a short
- 18:46episode. I hope. You all found this helpful and
- 18:49educational for your walk with Christ and how
- 18:51to grow deeper with him. If you can please share
- 18:54the podcast on your socials with a friend or
- 18:57family. I greatly appreciate it. You can also
- 19:01leave a review on Spotify and Apple podcasts.
- 19:03It greatly helps me and you can hit the follow
- 19:06button on any platform. And this is going to
- 19:09update you when a new episode is released. I
- 19:12drop every Thursday at nine a .m. Eastern Standard

- 19:18please reach out to me. Don't be afraid, you
- 19:20guys. I would love to have you on. It's literally
- 19:22just me and you sitting in my room, my basement
- 19:26and talking to each other. And we're meant to
- 19:31share our testimonies with each other and with
- 19:34the world because God puts us through these trials
- 19:37and tribulations so that we can share with others
- 19:40and be a comfort to them as they walk through
- 19:43the same things as we do. So please do not be
- 19:45afraid to come on. I know it can be really hard
- 19:49to go back into your past or to share a trial
- 19:52that you're going through right now. Believe
- 19:56me, I get it. I really do. I was terrified to
- 20:00sit in front of this mic and start this podcast,
- 20:02but It's not so much that I care what people
- 20:07think about me. I think I'm just harder on myself.
- 20:12So I really think Jesus is calling you to really
- 20:17step out right now and to share your journey
- 20:20so others can know that they're not alone and
- 20:23that we can make heaven crowded you guys. So
- 20:25please reach out to me. You can do that on socials
