- 0:00Welcome back to the Be Forever Cool podcast.
- 0:02My name is Rex 45. We got Reese Mataki.
- 0:05I'm on the building. The real Luis Ortega, the
- 0:08numbers guy, TJ with two wheels and coffee.
- 0:11What's going on fellas? How you doing TJ?
- 0:16Your audio. Bro hanging in there just enjoy
- 0:19the last weekend audios and stuff you hear.
- 0:23Me, we got you now. You're kind of laggy though.
- 0:28Oh well, no, we had a good weekend abrasion so was a
- 0:33fortune to watch that. Can't complain otherwise.
- 0:36I was just flipping back and forth between Moto America and
- 0:38Moto ZP. So that's pretty much sums up my
- 0:41weekend. All right, man.
- 0:43Well, you know, you know, Austin and and Mazana is not the same
- 0:48time zone, man. You know, we're gonna have to,
- 0:50we're gonna have to get you another clock to make sure you
- 0:54can, you know, watch it separate times.
- 0:56I mean, I guess I don't know how I don't know what time Lewis
- 0:58gets up, but I I'm usually up like, you know, I'm watching it
- 1:01live generally. You know, that's just me, man.
- 1:05What's going on, Reese, man, how you doing, man?
- 1:08And we'll, we'll find out how your weekend went from your
- 1:10perspective, from you know, where I'm sitting.
- 1:12Look like you, you kind of call it where it was.
- 1:15I I don't know if you guys could have expected a better outcome,
- 1:17but how you doing man? I'm good man, just burnt out
- 1:20from the weekend. This long weekend.
- 1:22Hot as hell, but it's still good.
- 1:26Ready for the last round. Like for a battle like I called
- 1:29it. So stop, man, We're looking
- 1:30forward to it. Some good racing down in in
- 1:32Austin this past weekend. What's going on, Lewis?
- 1:36Man how things I see you got big time on your on your chest.
- 1:39Yeah, yeah, shout out to my boy Felipe and Jeremiah from Big
- 1:43Time on YouTube. These guys have been super great
- 1:46to me for the last couple years. I've been working with them and
- 1:49we're always swapping swag, so I send them some gear, they send
- 1:53me some gear, but they got an amazing channel.
- 1:56They're the ones that have been doing like this Moto GP series,
- 2:00Road to Moto GP. So really good stuff, cool guys
- 2:03and on the raising front. Great weekend man, can't wait to
- 2:05talk about it. Lots of crazy excitement in the
- 2:08US and overseas, so definitely going to be a good show all.
- 2:11Right, man, that's what's up. We're going to jump into it.
- 2:13We're going to, we're going to start with Moto America because
- 2:15I know Reese might have to tap out at some point because, you
- 2:18know, he, he doesn't stop working, you know?
- 2:22Hey man, somebody's got to make the money.
- 2:24Yeah. Hey, listen, man, I'll text you
- 2:26my address when I'm done. Few things might need to get
- 2:32taken care of. Let's talk about it, TJ.
- 2:35Boat America. You know you heard Reese from
- 2:38the past three rounds talking about what to expect.
- 2:41What are your thoughts on what you saw this weekend?
- 2:47I mean, it was good to see, you know, the young kids go out
- 2:52there, the, the, you know, like the Town Cup.
- 2:56And it was good to see the stock 1000.
- 2:59I think it's their last race of the year, you know, And it was
- 3:04good to see like every manufacturer be good at one part
- 3:08of the track, you know, for instance, just watching like a
- 3:13Honda go down the back street next to a Ducati, just seeing
- 3:17what it can do and, and how it can keep up on the other parts
- 3:20of the track. So and then, you know, the main
- 3:23race is where you know what we're looking forward to.
- 3:25And it was interesting to see, you know, how Josh Henry could
- 3:28pull out that first race for all the the Higgins that was going
- 3:33on that that first race was that that happened.
- 3:35But overall, race one and race 2 are pretty good.
- 3:41It's good to see. Well, you know, the Yamahas stay
- 3:44up in there, Bobby Fond to get on the podium and stay in
- 3:48contention, you know, didn't lose everything so.
- 3:51There you go. It's called, you know, they're
- 3:53called painkillers for a reason, man.
- 3:55It gets me through a lot. Trust me, when I when I was lost
- 3:57in my spleen, man, you know, it was nice to have some some
- 4:00painkillers to be be able to rest.
- 4:02So, you know, I think he had it figured out.
- 4:05Josh, your thoughts, Lewis, we see that they announced that
- 4:09we're going to have another Ducati in in super bike in Motor
- 4:12America next year with PJ. You know, are you excited for
- 4:16that? I mean, I'm, I'm always excited
- 4:19when the grid fills up with more bikes.
- 4:21You know, I've always said that I like the Stock 1000 class
- 4:24because it keeps the prices of going racing a little bit more
- 4:28manageable. I mean, it's still expensive.
- 4:29Anybody thinks that to be competitive on a Stock 1000, you
- 4:33can do it for like less than 250 grand, you're out of your mind.
- 4:37You know, like if you want to do every single round, like you're
- 4:39going to spend some money. But at least the Stock 1000
- 4:42class gave a lot more riders the opportunity.
- 4:45And I just hope that the way that the rules work out next
- 4:49year to combine the stock 1000 is super bike.
- 4:52There's enough concessions where the stock 1000 won't just be
- 4:55there to fill the grid, but can be competitive.
- 4:58I mean, I expect the same players to be at the front just
- 5:02because the equipment and the talent level.
- 5:04But I, I want to see an opportunity where a guy that,
- 5:10you know, an unexpected talent can kind of rise up and, and be
- 5:14that, you know, hair in the ointment or something like that,
- 5:18you know, so I'm hoping it happens next year.
- 5:20I'm hoping that it's really competitive.
- 5:23I want to see Ducati's there. I want to see Honda's there.
- 5:25I want to see, you know, Suzuki's there.
- 5:29I mean, we're Suzuki's now, but I want to see the grid to fill
- 5:31up more. You know, the saddest thing that
- 5:33I saw this weekend was the bagger race.
- 5:36I saw six guys lining up to race.
- 5:38That means you have a 50% chance of being on the podium if you
- 5:42just don't crash and somebody else does.
- 5:44Like, as much as that's a fun race, that shit sucks, man.
- 5:48I don't want to see six bikes lining up, man.
- 5:51Like if you don't have at least 12 bikes on the grid, like why
- 5:54even line up? Like it's crazy.
- 5:56Everybody finishes in the points and like, I understand why it is
- 6:01happening, but that grid needs to get bigger.
- 6:03You know, we're going to go international with Bagger Racing
- 6:06with Harley-Davidson. That grid needs to get bigger
- 6:09here in the US. We can't show up in Spain or in
- 6:12Portugal with six bikes. Man, that looks pathetic.
- 6:16You said you know what happened, so can you enlighten us?
- 6:18Because I, I, I was wondering the same thing.
- 6:20From my perspective, I just assumed the championship was
- 6:23over and some people said they want to spend any more more
- 6:25money for the for the last two rounds.
- 6:28I don't, I don't, I don't think I'm going to be at Jersey or
- 6:29not, but. No, that's 100% what happened.
- 6:33You know, people are like, well, you know what, this
- 6:34championship's over. I'm not going to spend the money
- 6:37to haul all my equipment to Texas, you know, call my call my
- 6:41guys at Texas when there's no chance of me winning or
- 6:44something like that. Like this grid, and I think, I
- 6:47hate to say it, I don't think the grid's going to be any
- 6:49bigger for New Jersey. Again, if I'm based out of
- 6:52California, why am I going to drive across the country to
- 6:57finish outside the points, not have a championship, not really
- 7:01make any money? Like, you know, that grid's got
- 7:04to get filled up and and we got to see some new faces on that
- 7:08grid too. You know, it can't be the same
- 7:10the usual suspects every single weekend.
- 7:12Like it's not fair and as as a certain point is going to lose
- 7:17its novelty and if there's no competition there then it's
- 7:20going to lose its interest. You know?
- 7:22I don't I don't want to see the same if I had to watch the same
- 7:252 football teams play each other every weekend for the entire NFL
- 7:29season. Dude I'm checking out after like
- 7:31the second game. Right, right, right.
- 7:34No, I definitely there's some other sports we could talk about
- 7:37this like that. But let's get to Reese, man.
- 7:39Let's let's talk about the, the weekend from your perspective,
- 7:42Yamaha perspective. I mean, you know, you guys got
- 7:46to feel pretty good. I I assume the T-shirts are
- 7:49already made and ready like like the Ducati Moto GP to bring it
- 7:54over to Motegi? Nah, it sure aren't printed just
- 7:58yet. I mean, it could go anyway, but
- 8:00I mean, we go on air with the, you know, positive attitude.
- 8:03I mean, Bobby, I think he was like, I know one race he was
- 8:08second last year in Jersey and I think he was, I know he podium,
- 8:14I think he podium both times. But we're going there with a
- 8:15positive attitude. Like I said before we came in
- 8:18there knowing that this is one of their their tracks like
- 8:23Ducati and BMW where they can exploit all their power.
- 8:26So I mean, to come out with a second and third place, I mean
- 8:31that's really great. And, you know, to take a second
- 8:34and third and almost have a win in Race 2, you know, almost had
- 8:39it. So we'll, we'll take that.
- 8:42I mean, it was a good weekend. You know, no, everybody, both
- 8:46riders came home, you know, no major crashes, no major nothing.
- 8:51So we, I mean, we'll take that positive win, head on to the
- 8:54next round and get ready for a a weird battle.
- 8:58Right. Were you, were you guys
- 9:00surprised at how close it was that those guys didn't really
- 9:03run away? Yes and no.
- 9:07I mean, we was hoping that we'd be close, stay in their draft.
- 9:11And I mean, we thought they we knew that on the back straight
- 9:16away, especially that long back straight away, we knew that they
- 9:18had the power of the pull away. And if you watch, I mean, that's
- 9:21where Cameron kind of sucked up on Bobby and and got the pass.
- 9:27So we knew that was happening. But you know, we stayed right
- 9:30there with him. Bobby was, if you watch, Bobby
- 9:33was one of the fastest guys coming through the s s where he
- 9:37would almost run up in the back of them.
- 9:40So he was he. He passed them.
- 9:43Yeah, did, did, did on, on the did you guys give Jake a hard
- 9:48time? Yeah, when he had that low side
- 9:50and crashed out and Cam, you know, had a low side and saved
- 9:53it. Now you give him a hard time.
- 9:58I was just happy we wasn't there.
- 9:59I mean it was nice not to be there late night.
- 10:01So it wasn't that bad of a bad crash.
- 10:03It was kind of easy night like all right, we get out of here
- 10:05early. So that was kind of peaceful low
- 10:07side he I mean he saved it real good.
- 10:09So it was fun, No? No, no, it it it was fun to
- 10:13watch TJ, man, you know, you let's let's dive into a little
- 10:19bit more watching the races and stuff like that.
- 10:21I know Josh is your boy and you know, he seemed to struggle a
- 10:25little bit more on on Sunday. You know, how do you feel about
- 10:30that and how he how it turned out?
- 10:35Sorry, I'm having a little connection issues, so we say.
- 10:38So you say it one more time about Sunday.
- 10:40Saturday, Sunday, you know, talk about Josh a little bit and I
- 10:43know he's your boy. I'm, I mean, I'm a Ducati guy.
- 10:45So I I like how it turned out, but you know.
- 10:51I mean, yeah, I mean, someday, you know, we wanted to see, you
- 10:57know, Josh Paul it off. He could, but, you know,
- 11:00obviously it'll be a little different.
- 11:02And I don't know their approaches a lot to finish in
- 11:06life, but they couldn't pull it out.
- 11:09He did get a podium, but it was good to see Bobby Fogg actually
- 11:14fight with Kim Beaubien for that last race.
- 11:17That was pretty cool. Bobby Fogg definitely gave his
- 11:20all, definitely wanted to see him win, but that BMW just had
- 11:27too much down the back street. Just like reset few weeks back,
- 11:31how strong they would be down there.
- 11:32But yeah, it's going to be a big fight going into Jersey.
- 11:38But I think Sunday was was a good race.
- 11:41Yeah, yeah, no doubt. I see you got the Suzuki hat.
- 11:44I figured you'd have a Yamaha hat tonight because Suzuki, they
- 11:47weren't trying, man. But they were.
- 11:51They were trying. But, you know, I feel bad for
- 11:54Richie Escalante. Was that Escalante that that
- 11:57that, you know, he crashed on the last lap?
- 12:03Well you know SDK been doing good so but I'm not sure if he
- 12:10crashed on the last lap, did he? Or what?
- 12:13Race one or Race 2? Race 2 I thought it was a race 2
- 12:15He he crashed on the I was a race one.
- 12:17I I my memory says correctly. Felt like well.
- 12:20Race he had. He had mechanical, He had
- 12:22mechanical. Well, yeah, something like that
- 12:26from what I hear. I think he ran out of fuel.
- 12:29That's mechanical. It's not KTM mechanical, but his
- 12:35mechanical. You know, and that's what is
- 12:39that a 2008 bike? I mean that's pretty good for an
- 12:41old bike to be competing with these new bikes.
- 12:43I would I. Said it's a 13.
- 12:47No, it's a 1616. There you go, it's only it's
- 12:51only 9. Years old?
- 12:52It's only 10 years. Old, but I got to say the 50th
- 12:55anniversary color look pretty good though.
- 12:57What are you? What are your thoughts on that?
- 12:58Lewis The. Bike came out when it was the
- 13:0240th anniversary color. They had that page on that bike
- 13:12twice in one lap time. Yeah, I love Suzuki, man.
- 13:19I I. I saw your story man, so.
- 13:22It's rough, man. It's rough out there for Suzuki.
- 13:26It looked good. It looked good.
- 13:29Man, I just wish that, you know, I, I wait to see what, what
- 13:33Suzuki's doing next year. You know, they've kind of put a
- 13:35little bit of a press push behind the new GSXR 1000.
- 13:40No, they don't. It's all wingless.
- 13:42You know you got to start somewhere man.
- 13:45Hamda did nothing but winless and look where they are now on
- 13:47Moto GPI. Mean, I ain't got no more Red
- 13:49Bull, but they got wings. Crashing out of 18th.
- 13:52Ain't got Red Bull got. They got their wings.
- 13:56No, but I hope, I hope Suzuki does a little bit better next
- 14:00year. You know, they got talented
- 14:01riders, man. SDK is a talented rider.
- 14:03Escalante is a talented rider, you know, their entire team, the
- 14:07Super sport team, talented riders.
- 14:09It's just, you know, they just that 1 1/2 step behind the guys
- 14:13at the front technology wise, motor wise, just everything, you
- 14:18know, I mean, you can do a lot with a stock motor and make it a
- 14:21super bike motor and do all the things you can do.
- 14:24But at the end of the day, I mean, if you don't have that
- 14:28little extra help from the factory, if you don't have newer
- 14:31chassis or a newer motor you can build off of you, you're always
- 14:35limited to the tools that you have to work with.
- 14:39So yeah, I feel bad for Suzuki, man.
- 14:43Hurts my heart a little bit. Just just me, not me.
- 14:47I'll be back. I'll be back.
- 14:49I'll be back all. Right.
- 14:50All right, well, let's jump into Moto GP and, and, and talk about
- 14:54that because that was also happening this weekend and
- 14:57pretty crazy all around. I mean, you know, let's talk
- 15:00about the qualifying sessions, you know, you know, I'll say
- 15:05back now it was looking good in qualifying, you know, being in
- 15:09the top, top top seven. You know what I'm saying?
- 15:12I didn't say I, I can't say I expected more, but it was a home
- 15:15track for him. So you thought it would have
- 15:17been a little bit better. But what you guys?
- 15:20Yeah, until he. Yeah, until he crashed out.
- 15:22What do you guys think about that and what Bazecki did?
- 15:26Because it seems like Bazecki's the only guy that's that's going
- 15:29to, I want to say push Mark, but at least make mark, you know,
- 15:33look back a little bit or look up.
- 15:36What are your thoughts, TJ? You're.
- 15:40Back. You're back, not back.
- 15:41All right, we'll, we'll move. All right, we'll, we'll, we'll,
- 15:44we'll move to Reese until you get it sorted out.
- 15:47I I don't know if you had a chance to watch Moto GP while
- 15:50you were at at CODA this past weekend man, but your thoughts
- 15:54about qualifying and how those guys did?
- 15:56No, I did watch it. I mean, getting up early and
- 15:58watching it, but I mean, it was nice.
- 16:01I mean, it was different. I mean, I think like, you're
- 16:04right, I think Bazecki is the only one that's going to keep
- 16:07Mark, as you want to call it, honest and keep him out there.
- 16:10I think he's the actual one him and you know, maybe his brother.
- 16:13But I mean, it was good. It was a good qualifying race.
- 16:19Well, qualifying. It was a great Sprint race.
- 16:21You know, I was kind of sad to see Mark crash out, but I
- 16:26actually, no, no matter how much I hated the guy, I won't play
- 16:29in. You know, I'm kind of rooting
- 16:30for him after that surgery, what he had just take it all.
- 16:34Yeah, I agree there. I, I won't say I'm rooting for
- 16:37him, but I I respect what he's doing And, and you see it, you
- 16:40can't and obviously you can't deny the caliber rider he is and
- 16:43stuff like that. I'm not really actually, you
- 16:45know, I'm not really mad at Mark.
- 16:46I'm mad at that Ducati signed up, That's all.
- 16:48Mark had nothing to do. I mean, obviously he got signed,
- 16:51but like Ducati, they didn't need to sign them to win another
- 16:54championship. Why?
- 16:55Why didn't he need to sign them? You got to sign the best.
- 17:00There's a long. There's a.
- 17:01There's a long list of reasons why.
- 17:04Who's who's out there that's going to beat that man?
- 17:07Well, but it's today's, though. I mean, you think about it,
- 17:09right? If you know you're going to win
- 17:10the championship with the riders you already got, you know I
- 17:13spend more money. Because you can make more money.
- 17:17Right. I can make more money, yeah.
- 17:19Well, that, that's that we'll, we'll find out at the end of the
- 17:21year, see what sales are like, right.
- 17:24I mean, sales is just one part of the equation.
- 17:27You know, the, the win it on Sunday, buy it on Monday kind of
- 17:30philosophy doesn't always work, right.
- 17:33But you know, how many times can a team sign somebody like a
- 17:37Michael Jordan to their team? You know, the Wizards sucked
- 17:41when Michael Jordan went there, but they still have Michael
- 17:43Jordan. They still sold more tickets.
- 17:45They still sold more jerseys. They still sold more popcorn and
- 17:48vending everywhere they went. Like they could ask for more
- 17:51because they had a, a bigger package, a more talented package
- 17:54to display. So, you know, sometimes you got
- 17:57to look at it at that way, you know, I can sign Jorge Martin.
- 18:03We didn't get hurt. I could sign Jorge Martin or I
- 18:05can sign a seven time world champion that automatically
- 18:08comes with a ton of fans and a ton of haters.
- 18:11And the haters will pay to to hate on him.
- 18:15You know, like I love the meme every time that Marquez goes and
- 18:18races in Italy that Can you imagine paying $300 in as an
- 18:22Italian to go Boo Marc Marquez? Like that's it.
- 18:28Thousands of people are paying $300 to Boo Marc Marquez.
- 18:32And at the end of the day, Mark is like, yo, I still get paid.
- 18:36You guys are helping pay for for me to be here to make you feel
- 18:42bad, you know, so, and, and if you look this past weekend, you
- 18:48know, Ducati used Mark to launch the new Rs models.
- 18:52You know, they had the Diwali and they had the multi strata.
- 18:55They did a whole marketing campaign.
- 18:56So again, you got this instant swag by by by having somebody
- 19:01like that. You know, why do people sign
- 19:04LeBron James even though he doesn't win championships and
- 19:06flops because he's LeBron James. He's going to give him people
- 19:08into your audience. He's going to bring people to
- 19:10your stadium. At least with Marquez you got a
- 19:13seven time world champion that's proven that he can go out there
- 19:16and ride. Not missing Floppopolis that's
- 19:19going. To I mean.
- 19:21I hear that the. They build them a replica.
- 19:25On the on the bench. Yeah, I heard that too.
- 19:30But you know, he qualified 4th Bagnaya qualify a do you think
- 19:35that put this all you guys? I hopefully you're, you're also
- 19:38with audio TJ. Do you, do you think that what
- 19:43Bizecki and Martine did to get Bizecki on pole?
- 19:47Do you think Ryder teams should do that more often?
- 19:50You punch a hole in front of the the faster rider so they can get
- 19:53the the few tents to get on it because I don't know if Bizecki
- 19:56would have got that if Martine didn't punch that hole on the on
- 19:59the straight. I mean, I think yeah, help each
- 20:07other to try to get a better position.
- 20:10But dude, I don't know it was I think it just Martine just
- 20:14happened to be there. But it definitely helped Ozeki
- 20:18get that that pole position for sure.
- 20:23But I definitely do think that team should help each other
- 20:26instead of, you know, like Mark used to do chase behind a rider
- 20:31just to get his himself a better position.
- 20:35So, but that fight is also good. It keeps everything competitive.
- 20:39But it was pretty cool that to see Ben Zachy get up there and
- 20:43get the pole position. I mean.
- 20:46We thoughts, Reese, You think you guys might do that in
- 20:51Jersey? I don't know we'll do it in
- 20:54Jersey, but I mean, why not? Why not have a rider punch a
- 20:57hole through it? If you got you know, you can
- 20:59follow. And I mean, sometimes it's not
- 21:01even sometimes it's not even team orders it just the two guys
- 21:06will get out there and they'll get behind each other and
- 21:08they'll actually just do it. But hey, I'm going to punch a
- 21:11hole for you. Come on, let's go.
- 21:12So it's it could it could be that so, but I mean, why not?
- 21:16You know, you want to you still want to win the the constructor
- 21:19title or something like that, But I mean, it can't right now,
- 21:22Gotti, But why not try to put a slowdown to to Marquez's reign
- 21:27or or get ready for the upcoming year?
- 21:29Why not? And you're right, because Mark
- 21:33Bazecki helped Martine get into Q2, you know.
- 21:36So what are your thoughts, Lewis, on that?
- 21:39I mean, I don't again, I, I, I tend to agree with Reese.
- 21:42I don't think it was necessarily Team Waters.
- 21:44Maybe the two riders spoke about it ahead of time.
- 21:46Hey, we catch each other on the track.
- 21:49Let's try to help each other, you know, either told me or
- 21:52punch a hole in the air for me or something like that.
- 21:56It's qualifying. It's not the it's not the race.
- 21:58So, but if you look at the time of the race, I don't you know,
- 22:04I, I think Bazecki would have still been on the front row
- 22:07regardless of whether or not Martine helped him.
- 22:09I think Martine just gave him a couple more tents that got him
- 22:11right to the pole position. But but Bazecki was still the
- 22:15fastest guy outside of Marc Marquez the whole weekend.
- 22:19And even Alex, you know, he had his flash of brilliance.
- 22:21But again, that one lap speed, that doesn't mean you're going
- 22:25to be consistent over the the length of the race.
- 22:27You know who who gridded up in in 3rd place as the third
- 22:32fastest guy? The guy who dropped like a
- 22:35fucking anchor once the race started, Mr. Yamaha.
- 22:38Why? Because you can't rent run your
- 22:40fastest lap of the race for 27 laps.
- 22:43That's physically impossible. You can stay within a certain
- 22:47range, like of 1/2 a second, you know, thirty, 1-331-630-1231,
- 22:53You can do that. You can't run 30 flats for 27.
- 22:57Your tires won't make it. You won't make it.
- 22:59I mean, even at the end of this race, you saw Bazecki get off
- 23:02the bike. My man was like, yo, I'm done.
- 23:05I'm cooked. Like I had gave it all.
- 23:07Like the dude looked like he was ready to pass out, like his eyes
- 23:09were sunk in. He was so cooked.
- 23:12So let me let me ask this what's the deal with Fabio and the
- 23:16Pearls? I don't know, man.
- 23:20I can't. I can't, I can't.
- 23:21I don't know. Maybe they're his lucky pearls,
- 23:25you know, like. I mean, I was just like, what is
- 23:28what is he doing? But maybe, you know, he's
- 23:31getting getting closer to to God or something like that.
- 23:33You know, who knows? Because I think that's the first
- 23:36time I've seen a rider rock, rock the Pearl necklace like
- 23:42like that. But you know, let's talk about
- 23:44Marquez's crash. You know, these guy you talk
- 23:46about being able to do, you know, qualifying times.
- 23:49One lap him and Bazecki were both doing close to qualifying
- 23:52times in the Sprint race, you know, in the one 30s, you know,
- 23:56when he passed, when, when he passed Bez, You know, I, I, I,
- 24:00before he crashed, I felt like he was going to crash because
- 24:02like they were on the limit and I didn't think he needed to, to
- 24:05push the limit. Fighting for the championship,
- 24:08you know, wanting to stay healthy to finish the six, what,
- 24:125 rounds? I think we have left 5 or 6
- 24:14rounds left, five rounds left. Do do you think that was too
- 24:18much to push in a little bit too much for Mark?
- 24:23For me or TJ. TJ.
- 24:26TJ, you you with us? Sorry, sorry.
- 24:28You go over yes, connection issues.
- 24:34I don't know why I'm breaking up.
- 24:36Yeah, man, you, you got, you got some serious connection issues,
- 24:39man. No, I just mean, you know,
- 24:42talking about the crash with Marquez in the in the Sprint
- 24:46race and you know, you know, pushing close to qualifying
- 24:49times for a couple of laps. Him and Bazecki.
- 24:53Do you think it was like a little bit much?
- 24:55He probably should have just chilled a little bit.
- 25:01We'll throw it over to Lewis, man.
- 25:03I, I, yeah, I don't think again, man.
- 25:06Anytime you put your helmet on, you, you, you want to be the
- 25:09best man. Sprint race practice,
- 25:12qualifying. I don't think I don't think Mark
- 25:15needed to do what he did as far as pass him and and and try to
- 25:20quickly push away. I think the pace that they were
- 25:24setting, they were going to separate themselves from the guy
- 25:26in 3rd place regardless. I think they would definitely
- 25:29put some distance. I think Mark should have just
- 25:31let him do the donkey work. Let him be out front, let him do
- 25:34all the the hard pushing. I mean, let him, let him be the
- 25:39one to win it or be. And if you get the opportunity,
- 25:42you know, when you get the opportunity with a couple laps
- 25:44left, you know, I don't think Mark has a lack of speed.
- 25:47As the tire grip goes down, he it seems he gets more speed.
- 25:50I mean, him and Bizeki were trading fastest laps of the race
- 25:54on lap 2526 and 27. I know, pretty so.
- 25:58That's crazy. That's like, you know, so again,
- 26:01in the Sprint race, which is half the distance, you're going
- 26:04to tell me that he's not going to have tire come lap 13.
- 26:08So you're thinking these guys are like, man, I could have
- 26:10pushed harder then because they had so much grip at the end,
- 26:13Yeah. I mean the Sprint race I would
- 26:15have honestly man with, with the low fuel load as early as they
- 26:19get the low fuel load in the Sprint race with tires that are
- 26:22still as fresh as they are. I mean, they could have probably
- 26:26set lap records, you know, in lap 1213 and 1415 and 16 of the
- 26:32Sprint race. So I, I, I think Mark just kind
- 26:35of again, and he said it himself, it's a mental lapse.
- 26:38You know, I got a little bit too overexcited.
- 26:41I started, you know, thinking that something that I should
- 26:44have been thinking and just that one little lapse of
- 26:47concentration and that's it. I crashed.
- 26:49But he redeemed himself on Sunday where the points are even
- 26:52bigger and he didn't make the same mistake.
- 26:54And if you've watched Mark throughout the years, that's
- 26:58kind of his MO. He crashes in practice to find
- 27:01the limit and then he tries to avoid that same mistake during
- 27:04the race. And this time he just, you know,
- 27:07it kind of bit him a little bit. He should have just waited I
- 27:09think a little bit more. But again, it's don't.
- 27:13I've always told you don't deny that half second home track
- 27:18advantage like Bizecki when you are in front.
- 27:22And I was thinking about this man, when your family shows up,
- 27:24when your friends are there, when everybody is there, when
- 27:27you see the colors of your flag flying all over the place.
- 27:31Trust me, man, you find that extra half second, you find that
- 27:35extra little motivation to like go a little faster and and Benz
- 27:40this weekend did an amazing job just doing that.
- 27:42And I think again, this goes back to Mark, you know, wanting
- 27:45to maybe annoy some fans that love to cheer when he crashes.
- 27:49You know, he got them. He got them back on Sunday.
- 27:51You know, you guys booed me or cheered when I crashed
- 27:54yesterday. Well, cry your tears today, man.
- 27:57Listen to the Spanish anthem right now.
- 28:04Paid $300 to come listen to the Spanish anthem Thank You Italy.
- 28:08He gave them a messy at the end of the the race on Sunday.
- 28:14That's harsh. Yeah.
- 28:15Yeah. Well, let's talk about Aprilia.
- 28:17And do you think, I mean, we talked about this early on when
- 28:21Bez won. Is it is it safe to say, you
- 28:24know, Martine is the #2 rider now?
- 28:26I mean, I think it'd be hard to, but he has to, he has to win a
- 28:30bunch of races before the the the pendulum switch.
- 28:34I mean, he's been the number 2 rider.
- 28:37He's been the number 2 rider. I don't think he ever was the
- 28:39number one rider being honest. I mean, he's just the number one
- 28:42plate, not the number one rider. So I mean, then when you left
- 28:47and you did all your antics and nonsense of BS, it was like, all
- 28:52right, we're going to, you know, it's like Embezz is there
- 28:57dealing with it. And you kind of left your
- 28:59teammate high and dry on like development or anything else
- 29:02like that. Yeah.
- 29:04I mean, it's safe to consider you.
- 29:06You're the number two guy. You're not the number one guy.
- 29:08We don't need you as the number one.
- 29:10What are your thoughts, Lewis? I think he's the number three
- 29:13guy. They.
- 29:19Might find Oliveira as a test rider, so you might be right.
- 29:24Did they say that? Well, at least if he's test
- 29:26rider, nobody can crash into him.
- 29:28So he'll finish. He'll finish the testing
- 29:31sessions, at least. He might be going to BMW 2 over
- 29:34in World Super Bike. Yeah, he might be going there
- 29:36so. Yeah, that.
- 29:37I mean, that's what he said. He says he wants to race, so it
- 29:39doesn't sound like he wants to be a test rider yet.
- 29:42Well, he can stay again. He'll I think he'll do well in
- 29:45super bike. I mean, nobody, nobody hits
- 29:47anybody there, so he should be fine.
- 29:51But on the team, I definitely Martinez is the second rider.
- 29:57You know, Bez is kind of taking this opportunity and really made
- 30:00the most of it. It was handed to him very early
- 30:02in the season because early in the season he knew he went into
- 30:05that team as the number 2 rider. You know, hey, they signed the
- 30:09the reigning world champion. He's literally going to have the
- 30:11number one plate on his bike. You know, I'm just going to have
- 30:15to put my head down, put in the works and see what I can do to
- 30:20to just carry my weight. And then, you know, Martine got
- 30:25hurt and then the whole controversy and even throughout
- 30:27all that, man, you know, Bez just put his head down and kept
- 30:31riding, rode it, rode through the problems, you know,
- 30:34finishing outside the top ten, doing everything he can do to
- 30:37get the bike to where it needs to be and just chipping away.
- 30:41And look at him now, man. You know, the dude is flying.
- 30:43I mean, he's really making the Aprilia look like it is a direct
- 30:48competitor to the Ducati. Like there's nothing really
- 30:50separating the two bites right now, which is amazing.
- 30:54And he lost his wings. And he lost the wing, you know,
- 30:57he did it with a, with a half a wing, so instability in the
- 31:00front end. But that might be a good thing.
- 31:03You know what cut that wing away.
- 31:05We went faster without it. We don't need those wings.
- 31:09No worries. Shit.
- 31:11On on the heavy right hand tracks we cut the left wing off
- 31:14and on the heavy left hand tracks we cut the right wing off
- 31:17and we're good. Yeah, that that bike got too
- 31:20many, too many wings too, just too many.
- 31:23TJ, are you back with us? What are your thoughts of
- 31:26Aprilia and And You know #2 rider Martine?
- 31:33See that way I'm going, yeah, I think I'm back with the
- 31:35connection. Sorry about that.
- 31:36And I don't know what's going on.
- 31:37Everything was just static. But to me, yeah, Bez is
- 31:41definitely looking like the number one rider right now.
- 31:44I mean, the way Martine ended this year and and going to a
- 31:49career, it just didn't start with the right foot.
- 31:52But he's going to have to take lead from Bez.
- 31:54I mean, he's he has his his front foot forward.
- 31:58Like I said, he's been on the dog.
- 32:00I've been rooting for him as well this year and he's been
- 32:03proven himself since the beginning of the middle of the
- 32:07season for that matter. So it's for him to just prove
- 32:12that he can still hang with Mark.
- 32:15I thought it was just excellent data for himself to to have pace
- 32:20with Mark for about 15 laps, you know, just to keep pace, knowing
- 32:26that he has the confidence that you know, to get better than
- 32:30what he what he is at now. And even though he came in
- 32:34second. So I think it was a win overall
- 32:37for Bezdecki for this weekend and I think was probably his
- 32:40best, one of his best race weekends, if not tired, the best
- 32:44as far as himself getting dated personally and the bike getting
- 32:49dated and and you know, him doing better than my team right
- 32:53now. So right, right.
- 32:55But yeah, on the tire and all that stuff that fell off, I
- 33:00don't know what's going on and I don't, I don't know if that was
- 33:03just cool one side of the tires. It just didn't last.
- 33:06But it's an interesting part that they put on the bike.
- 33:11Yeah, I, I agree. I think it's just one too many
- 33:14wings for for for sure. Let's talk about the other
- 33:18Ducatis, Djinn, Antonio, I mean Mobidelli, Fermandaleguia, Mark,
- 33:24Alex Marquez. I, I, you know, what are you,
- 33:27what are your thoughts on what they're doing?
- 33:30They look pretty good in the Sprint, you know, 2nd, 3rd, 2nd,
- 33:333rd, 4th for those guys. Do you think that, you know, BR
- 33:3946 Academy is going to, you know, they, they got the
- 33:42inconsistency most of that thing because of more of a deli and
- 33:45stuff like that just making bad mistakes.
- 33:48We talked about it last week. They must have listened to the
- 33:50show and, you know, came out and said, yo, it's over.
- 33:54Don't, don't do this. Don't do anything else, man,
- 33:55because you know, you might not be here next year.
- 34:01How they, how they look? Man, they look good.
- 34:04I mean, more Videli look a lot solid.
- 34:06I mean, he didn't cause any mistakes for running into the
- 34:08back of anybody and getting grip penalty or getting caught up to
- 34:10the steward office. Like, you know, getting called
- 34:12to the principal's office say, hey, you need to come in here
- 34:15and talk to me, you know. So I mean, it was kind of nice.
- 34:19But the only thing about what I say with more Videli, he's very,
- 34:22very, very inconsistent. It's like one day he's hot, one
- 34:25day he's not. And it's like back and forth.
- 34:27It's like almost like in the galas was it's like man, come
- 34:30on, just stay consistent. You know, with Fabio and and Al
- 34:34de Guerre, I mean Al de Guerre is still as a rookie, he's still
- 34:38showing some pace and some brilliancy.
- 34:41So I mean I look forward to see what he can do in the future.
- 34:44Fabio, I mean, I'm looking forward to see if he can
- 34:46actually pick it up because you know, he had a lot of time where
- 34:49he was hurt or he wasn't on the right bike.
- 34:51So I mean, but now he's on the VR46.
- 34:53He has a what 25 GP, So I look forward to see what he can do.
- 34:59Alex, I mean, he's doing what Alex does just like another
- 35:02Marquez. I mean, he was solid in the
- 35:04race, solid in the Sprint. So I mean, he's the, he's the
- 35:09next in command as Marquez in the Marquez family.
- 35:13When he's behind Mark, do you think he should just push a
- 35:15little bit harder? I would say yes, but that's
- 35:20like, you know what they say, don't poke a sleeping bear, you
- 35:25know, let that bear lie or leave him alone.
- 35:27Like you start poking Mark, he's just going to turn up and now
- 35:29you going to crash. He's going to another level and
- 35:33you can't go to that level. You can't you can't go to that
- 35:36upper room yet. You're not there yet.
- 35:38And then I, I, from what I hear, they do live together, right?
- 35:41So. You can't go to that room yet.
- 35:45Now that's that's that's beyond your limit.
- 35:47Leave that room alone. So I, I don't know.
- 35:50I don't think I would. I don't think I would push Mark,
- 35:52man. I think I would kind of leave
- 35:54him alone. I I hear that it sounds like it
- 35:57sounds like a Michael Jordan thing.
- 35:59Don't, don't, don't look at him. Don't say nothing to him.
- 36:01Just just keep going. Lewis, no doubt.
- 36:06Lewis, what are your thoughts? I mean, I, you know, talk about
- 36:09Mobidal, his inconsistency. I mean, Valentino Rossi has to
- 36:15be yelling at him. He has to be saying something is
- 36:17like, yo, you're my boy. But come on, man.
- 36:19Like, we, we got to do something.
- 36:20I mean, it should have even gotten to the point where it had
- 36:23to be the Stuarts have to talk to him versus, you know, Rossi.
- 36:29Yeah, I mean, it's, it's six in one hand, half a dozen in the
- 36:33other. He he's inconsistent, but when
- 36:36he's consistent, he's always in the top five.
- 36:39So it's like, you know, who else can say that they're always in
- 36:44the top five? You know, all he needs to find
- 36:47is is that one missing piece where he just settles down and
- 36:51rides. And you know, I, I hate to say,
- 36:57tones down his aggression because you need aggression in
- 36:59this sport, but his aggression is the one thing that always
- 37:03gets the best of him. You know, he he doesn't like to
- 37:06get past. And when he gets past, he likes
- 37:09to fight back right away, which is the way you're kind of
- 37:11taught. You know, if you get past by the
- 37:13next corner, you want to try to already get by him, but he tries
- 37:17to get by him even though he can't get by them.
- 37:19You know, he tries to squeeze a bike into a, a, a space, decide
- 37:23that a credit card can barely fit in.
- 37:25And that's where he gets into these problems where he hits
- 37:27people. He, you know, he crashes himself
- 37:29out, he crashes other people out.
- 37:31He it's just dumb mistakes, man. And I, if he can get past that,
- 37:36I mean, the dude would be a perennial top five guy every
- 37:40race. I think every single race he
- 37:42would finish in the top five. He's got the talent, he's got
- 37:45the package. He just needs to like take that
- 37:48deep breath when somebody passes him and be like, all right, let
- 37:51me set him up for a pass, Not yo bonsai like, you know, kamikaze
- 37:55on people like it can't be, you know, win it or Bennett is win
- 38:01it or accept the fact that you're going to be in 5th place,
- 38:04you know, make it, make what you can do, do what you can.
- 38:07Try your best to get that space back.
- 38:09But if that guy passed you, chances are that you're the one
- 38:13that's lagging. As far as the rest of the
- 38:17riders, I mean the Jan Antonio, again, he does really great in
- 38:20the sprints because they're short races.
- 38:22But over a long distance race, he can't seem to put it together
- 38:26lap after lap. Or he only comes on at the very
- 38:29end, but he comes on at the very end when he's 17 seconds behind
- 38:32the lead. So I made-up five spots on, you
- 38:35know, in the last 6 laps. So I finished 8th instead of
- 38:3713th. Like come on man.
- 38:39Like it's the both. Both riders have this weird
- 38:43inconsistency and, you know, I don't know how you train it out
- 38:47of them. I don't know, you know, but
- 38:48again, these are mental things that you really can't train.
- 38:51You've already trained, you know how to ride a bike, you know how
- 38:52to go fast, you know how to take quarters, you know how to have
- 38:54to get, you know, now you just need to work on your mental
- 38:57game. And then the, and then the other
- 39:00one is Aldiguere. Aldiguere is definitely going to
- 39:02win rookie of the year. Nobody's got anything to beat,
- 39:04you know, close to him. Aldiguere is actually hoping for
- 39:09a reverse Sprint race where the bikes start with the hot, the
- 39:13tires already half used and half the fuel.
- 39:16And my man will probably win the race because he starts with
- 39:22fresh tires. He lags, lags, lags.
- 39:25And then we get to the halfway point when the tires drop.
- 39:28All of a sudden my man starts going fast.
- 39:30He's like, yo, where were you for the I think that they set up
- 39:33his bike so much to work good on used tires and low fuel that it
- 39:39actually makes it hard for him to ride the bike on new tires
- 39:42with a fuel, full fuel load. And they need to find that
- 39:45perfect balance. Man, he's like, I want the
- 39:47Marquez set up. Yeah, I want the Marquez set up
- 39:49when? The the bike's supposed.
- 39:51To be shit, that's when I want to go fast.
- 39:52But when the bike's supposed to be fast, I want it to be
- 39:55unrideable. And the, the, I mean, the kid is
- 40:01talented, you know, I, I, I hope that Grassini can keep him.
- 40:05I don't see him sane on the satellite team for very long.
- 40:08You know, I definitely see within, you know, next year's,
- 40:11the last year's deal, he's either going to end up on a
- 40:15factory Ducati bike or whether he's on the Grassini team or
- 40:19not, he'll be on a factory bike or he'll move to another
- 40:22factory. You know, whether it's Yamaha or
- 40:24whether it's Honda, like I don't this kid is too talented to stay
- 40:29where he's at. I honestly believe at this point
- 40:31right now, even though he's not in the greatest package, I think
- 40:34he's actually doing better than Acosta did with KTM on a
- 40:39consistent basis. And now you have Acosta on a
- 40:42factory bike and obviously they're not paying the bills
- 40:45because they losing chains and things are falling off and pipes
- 40:48aren't in, you know? Yeah, I mean, you know, we, we
- 40:51say, we say satellite team, but they are factory bikes.
- 40:54It's just a year old Is it's not the same like satellite, you
- 40:58know, 15 years ago, 10 years ago where parts had different serial
- 41:02numbers on them. Well, are they really getting
- 41:04the parts A? Year old bike you might be
- 41:08getting your old parts too, you know.
- 41:12On a on a Ducati, that's not bad, right?
- 41:14Because the 24 bike seems to be a little bit better than the
- 41:18than the 25 as we see with Alex and, and how well Alex is doing,
- 41:22right? Because we didn't think Alex is
- 41:23going to do as well as he's doing coming from a 23 to a 24.
- 41:26But we see that jump that he got this year on the bike.
- 41:30Yeah, no, he he definitely is putting forward the the most
- 41:34consistent push. So if you look at him, the Jan,
- 41:37Antonio Morbidelli and Aldiger of the guys not on factory
- 41:43bikes, he is the guy that's the most consistent.
- 41:45But again, a lot of that I think is also his mental game is at
- 41:49the strongest of anybody that's in the top, you know, 4 Ducatis
- 41:53that aren't factory bikes. You know, I think mentally he's
- 41:56the strongest guy on any given day.
- 41:58I think Morbidelli and the Jan Antonio are as fast, if not
- 42:03faster than Alex. Alex just has the mental game or
- 42:07the mental part of it downright. Like he's going into every
- 42:10weekend with the right attitude. He's going there every weekend,
- 42:14relax, but knowing that he definitely has an opportunity to
- 42:17win. And if you don't go into every
- 42:21weekend thinking you can win, you already lost.
- 42:23Like you got to go into every weekend like, yeah, I know my
- 42:25brother's the fastest guy that's on a motorcycle right now, but I
- 42:29can beat him. I know I can beat him on any
- 42:31given Sunday. I could beat him.
- 42:33And that's what you need. You need that.
- 42:36You know, I don't care what he's riding.
- 42:38I know I could beat him. Talent wise, he's not more
- 42:39talented than me. Equipment wise, we're on very
- 42:42similar equipment. So we're really going to come
- 42:44down to who's going to out talent the other rider this
- 42:46weekend. And he's done it twice, man.
- 42:48He's beat his brother twice. So yeah.
- 42:51No doubt, yeah. Let's talk about KTM.
- 42:53You brought it up a little bit there that, you know, the you
- 42:56know, they praising them a week ago now it's just kind of like I
- 43:00think, you know, the I don't want to throw too much shade on
- 43:04the engineers, but they party too much last weekend and and
- 43:08didn't quite catch up. Is that should somebody, you
- 43:10know, you know, get fired for what happened?
- 43:14Is it just, I mean, you know, riders crash and the bike's in
- 43:17good shape and the riders still have their job.
- 43:19So I guess getting fired is is out of the question.
- 43:22But you know, at this level, you know, haven't, you know, and we
- 43:26know chains pop, we've seen it happen to Maverick and these
- 43:28other guys and stuff like that. But to have two different bikes
- 43:32on the same weekend with the same issue, they it it it, it
- 43:37does cut into their stock just a little bit.
- 43:40What are your thoughts, TJ? Yeah, You know, it's like they
- 43:46say it's all good just a week ago.
- 43:48I think, I think, you know, for for what JT has been through and
- 43:53then for last round for them to get so much glory for what they
- 43:59were doing with like, you know, three of their bikes riding
- 44:01together and competing and just getting a lot of shine and
- 44:05actually finishing. Well, I think there's got too
- 44:08much glory. I don't know, somebody did
- 44:10something wrong, somebody's sabotaging or something.
- 44:13But it's just kind of far fetched to see like 2.
- 44:17I can see if a chain of different manufacturers probably
- 44:20like, oh, it's a weird weekend, but two of their bikes to happen
- 44:24in the same weekend. Somebody didn't sign something
- 44:27right or they used something wrong.
- 44:32But yeah, not only that, but but you know, you know, they didn't
- 44:38finish well, now everything finished well, Barry Bender.
- 44:42So they had a horrible weekend, very horrible weekend compared
- 44:45to last week, so. Right, Reese, what are your
- 44:49thoughts? You know, you're in the paddock.
- 44:51What are your thoughts, you know, on Acosta giving the bike
- 44:54the finger after that and stuff like that?
- 44:57Looked like he almost wanted to kick the daggone thing too is,
- 45:00is that a bad look for the for to from the team to him when he
- 45:04when he does something like that?
- 45:05Oh, to the team from him, I should say, Oh, it's just heat
- 45:11of the moment. Yeah, it could be the heat of
- 45:13the moment, but it still looks bad.
- 45:15I mean, it's like something, it's just it's you're, you're
- 45:19popping chains, you know? I know riders crash and things
- 45:23happen and you know, but it's like normally like us, we look,
- 45:28you look over the whole entire bike, you know, you especially
- 45:30with whatever side that it went down on, you know, you're,
- 45:33you're taking a look at everything.
- 45:34If you got to replace some replace it, you know, certain
- 45:37many miles chain gets replaced. I don't know what the heck
- 45:42happened, but it's like 2 bikes popping chains and it's like
- 45:45you're not taking your master length.
- 45:48Like I'm confused, like something just doesn't seem
- 45:51right for two chains to pop, you know, two different bikes.
- 45:54That just doesn't make any sense at that level.
- 45:58Right, is there an investigation going on or just a normal
- 46:01investigation that you do? Is there?
- 46:03Do we get the whole everybody together and talk about, you
- 46:06know, you know, trying to be stronger, better?
- 46:09I don't know. I don't know how you fix
- 46:11something as as you know, I don't want to say simple as
- 46:13this, because, you know, engine blowing up other things
- 46:16happening. There's so many other bigger
- 46:17things to worry about. Is it is it something that such
- 46:20a small thing that you sometimes you might overlook it?
- 46:23No, you ain't go overlook that because everybody normally
- 46:27you're going step by step. You know, you got a front guy,
- 46:29you got a rear guy, you know, everybody's looking at certain
- 46:32things and it's you know, I'm going to look over your work,
- 46:36you're going to look over my work.
- 46:37It's always like 2 to three eyes sets on it, like going back over
- 46:39it just to double check it. And no, it just doesn't make any
- 46:44sense. Somebody's going to get, I don't
- 46:46know if somebody's going to get fired.
- 46:47I would not say, but some it's going to get a less of a
- 46:49paycheck. It's going to be a deduction
- 46:52somewhere like like, yeah, you got to get a deduction for this
- 46:56one because it doesn't make any sense for two Chainz.
- 46:59Like I got to use it. I could see if it was 1 and all
- 47:01these guys are like Space Engine.
- 47:03They're they're high class engineers.
- 47:06You know, they're making stuff out of everything.
- 47:07So you can't tell me you didn't check this chain out.
- 47:10Like that just doesn't make any sense.
- 47:11Something, something's wrong here.
- 47:13Somebody missed something all. Right, Miss the numbers guy.
- 47:16What do you got on the on KTM? And you know, you're in the back
- 47:19office and and you know, you just got this money in and
- 47:22everything. You're sitting here ready to
- 47:24order your yacht and all this stuff.
- 47:26And now this happened like, you know, do you do you spill your
- 47:28coffee? What happened?
- 47:29You got to take the mute off. You got to take the mute off.
- 47:36That's how I'm working at KTM. I'm not ordering a yacht because
- 47:39I'm broke. Well, you can order, yeah, you
- 47:43just might rent it. I sold all my stock before they
- 47:46before I went in the toilet. No, I turn around, be like,
- 47:50look, I know we're cutting corners, but let's stop buying
- 47:53chains off Timu because they don't work.
- 47:55Let's go back to buying good chains and good master links.
- 48:00You bought out the eBay. Because yeah, buying, buying
- 48:03them on Timu is not working out for us guys.
- 48:06Come on, let's work as a team, man.
- 48:12I don't know who gets fired, man.
- 48:13I mean, that's definitely something that as a team you
- 48:15have to find the the cause of that error because you can't
- 48:19have that error, you know, at this level, you can't have that
- 48:22error. This is you can blow motors, you
- 48:26can have other issues. And we spoke before the show,
- 48:29you know, all bikes have a schedule.
- 48:31And the schedule is how many miles or kilometers before we do
- 48:35this, this, this and this. And, you know, a lot of these
- 48:38bikes, the chains will run for a certain amount of miles, but the
- 48:42chains will get checked in between every session.
- 48:45They'll rotate the tire. They'll make sure there's not
- 48:47any bent or damaged links. Like this is what Reece was
- 48:50talking about. Everybody checks everybody's
- 48:52work. So for two bikes to have the
- 48:55same issue in the same weekend and I'm positive there's more
- 48:59than one set of eyes that looked over that chain.
- 49:02You know, what's the issue here man?
- 49:04Is it a manufacturing issue from the chain supplier or you know,
- 49:09what were they using the same maybe chain rivet tool that
- 49:12wasn't working properly So it looks like it riveted correctly.
- 49:16I don't know man. There's so many things people
- 49:18overlook a chain and, and it has, you know, one master link
- 49:22and 1 rivet and that's it. Yeah, it is.
- 49:25But you know, there's a lot of nuances to making sure that the
- 49:28chain is right, making sure the rivet is tight, making sure this
- 49:31is work, that there aren't any kicks when you put a rivet,
- 49:33Making sure the chain flows, probably making sure the
- 49:35sprockets are right, making sure there's not damage to the
- 49:38sprocket that could damage the chain.
- 49:39Like, but This is why you have a team of guys.
- 49:42This is why you have more than just one mechanic.
- 49:44And for this to happen, I mean, this is probably KTM's worst
- 49:51looking weekend, not just the way they performed on the track,
- 49:54but just look wise, you know, this is, this is the kind of
- 49:57thing that makes a team look amateur.
- 50:01And this is a very, very amateur looking moment for them.
- 50:04You know, not only did they have only one rider finish and three
- 50:08riders DNF, you know, you had two riders in the same weekend
- 50:12lose a chain. You had one rider that was in a
- 50:14position to possibly get on a podium to lose a chain.
- 50:18You know, as far as Acosta, again, this is a this is a
- 50:22motion sport. So the emotions will get the
- 50:24best of you and you will get pissed off and you know,
- 50:27whatever. But when the temperature cools
- 50:31down in the room, like my man, that bike might have failed you.
- 50:34But that bike is also paying your check.
- 50:37And the company behind that bike is paying your salary.
- 50:41And you have to understand that if you flip off their bike, like
- 50:45that's not a good look. That's the kind of thing that
- 50:47damages relationships because that image now lives forever on
- 50:51our Internet. You know, if I want to make a
- 50:53meme about KTM sucks, I'll literally pull up the picture of
- 50:58their own writer in a KTM Red Bull suit giving the bike the
- 51:02finger. Like this shit writes itself
- 51:04man. You don't even need the writer
- 51:06for the show. Like it writes itself.
- 51:07The memes create themselves. So who has to apologize?
- 51:13I think the team should apologize to him and then in
- 51:15return, Pedro Acosta should apologize to KTMI.
- 51:18Let the moment get a get a hold of me.
- 51:21You know, it was, I was, I was in fourth place.
- 51:23I was trying to race to get into the podium position.
- 51:26And you know, in the heat of the moment I did that.
- 51:29But you know, I, I absolutely respect the team.
- 51:32I absolutely respect the brand. I know you guys work just as
- 51:35hard as I work. We win and lose as a team, you
- 51:38know, But I'm out there, I'm putting my life on the line, and
- 51:41for something like that to happen, obviously my emotions
- 51:44got the better of me. I apologize.
- 51:45That's that professional way to do it.
- 51:48Well, you know the last time you know something not necessary
- 51:52chain happening, but unhappy rider.
- 51:54You know that right end up going to preview next year.
- 51:57You think it's, you know, other mid teams are calling up Pedro
- 52:00like, hey man, come this way. No, I mean, what is there?
- 52:04There's a what on one ride left open?
- 52:07Or two rides? 27 you know.
- 52:11I mean, again, he's a talented writer.
- 52:14If he's finishing strong enough and he's doing well enough on
- 52:17the KTMA year from now, there's going to be team knocking on his
- 52:20door. You know, certain level of
- 52:22talent, people will follow you, people will want to work with
- 52:25you. But you know, you have to just
- 52:29that, right? Balance of talent and being an
- 52:31asshole. And if the the assholeness
- 52:34outweighs the talent, eventually nobody's going to want to work
- 52:37with you. Eventually you're going to move
- 52:38from team to team to team to team, and then you're going to
- 52:41find out there's no teams left after this team and no team
- 52:45wants you because all the teams that worked with you before have
- 52:47pretty much blackballed you. You know, this is the the
- 52:49Vinales effect. Where does the Vinales go after
- 52:51KTM? Nowhere.
- 52:53Yamaha's not going to want him back.
- 52:55He bought a bunch of stock, man. He's all, he's good.
- 52:58His his only chance after this I think is he goes to Honda.
- 53:02I think Honda's the only team that hasn't fired him.
- 53:04Yeah, yeah, I think so. Speaking of Honda, let's let's
- 53:06jump right into it. I I don't, I don't, I mean, I
- 53:09think they had it does on paper, it might not look like they had
- 53:12a good weekend, but I felt like Honda had a good weekend.
- 53:14What do you, what do you, what do you guys thoughts?
- 53:16We'll start with TJ. I mean, you know, mayor went
- 53:21down so like that's a given every weekend.
- 53:24So but overall, let's see, you know, Luca Marini finished 7th.
- 53:32I I feel like he's been doing a lot better second-half of the
- 53:36season. He's finally find himself.
- 53:39So yeah, I think Han is definitely improving slowly, but
- 53:42shortly there's just a lot of still unfortunate situations
- 53:46like with the mirror and then sometimes Zapo giving is all
- 53:50going down. But I think going into next
- 53:53year, they'll have a higher expectation to where to be, try
- 53:58to be better than, you know, a pro year or Yamaha for sure.
- 54:02But I think they had overall good weekend.
- 54:05Yeah, I, I think if Mia didn't crash out, he, he would have had
- 54:09a, a good weekend. What are your thoughts, ERISA
- 54:12on, on, on where Honda is? You know, Marini qualified 6th,
- 54:17only dropped one position in both races.
- 54:20So that's that's, I mean, obviously it's, it's always best
- 54:23to go forward, but at least, you know, he didn't have a back
- 54:26nine. What are your thoughts?
- 54:28No, I definitely say Honda had a good weekend.
- 54:30I mean, like I said, I mean Mir crashing out.
- 54:33I mean, that's nothing really new.
- 54:36I mean, that's that's like a give and take.
- 54:39That's like Pekka being, you know, back where he's at.
- 54:43But no, I mean, Luka Marini has really shown some talent on that
- 54:48bike. He's really pushed it up there
- 54:50to the forefront. You know, Zarko is Zarko and
- 54:53he's, you know, unfortunately he crashed.
- 54:55But I think once next year comes, he gets a factory bike.
- 54:59I think he'll be up there in the up there in the top five.
- 55:04So I think they're actually doing very well.
- 55:05They've actually figured out that bike.
- 55:07They're actually pushing forward and doing a showing a lot more
- 55:10promising. And then my boys in Yamaha and I
- 55:15just feel as though they're they're they're going to come
- 55:17next year ready to play versus, you know, the boys in blue.
- 55:20I think they're going to come ready to play all.
- 55:22Right, we're going to move on to that in a little bit.
- 55:24But what are your thoughts Lewis on on Honda what Lucas doing
- 55:28really good job and and Zaco, yes, it's tough, but it sounds
- 55:31like from a Zaco of what I've seen on social media and stuff
- 55:35like that, seems like he's not getting the same parts, which is
- 55:38kind of weird. He's the only one that's won a a
- 55:41a a a race this year. And you think that just on GP
- 55:44they should just give him the same parts?
- 55:47You would think so, but you know, if it's not in your
- 55:49contract and it's not something they have to do, it's not
- 55:51something they will do. You know, it's just a business.
- 55:54It's not a, it's not a, it's show business, not show friends.
- 55:58So you you get what you contractually are obligated to
- 56:03get. You can ask for extra, but if
- 56:05they don't want to give it to you, you can't really complain.
- 56:09For me, I think everybody at all the riders at Honda need to go
- 56:14crash at Suzuka and come back as good as Marini because Marini
- 56:19ever since his crash at Suzuka is a whole new rider, like he's
- 56:23riding on a different level. He's the he's now, I think this
- 56:26is his fifth top ten finish in a row, which is amazing, you know,
- 56:32considering Rinz is technically the number one rider at Honda
- 56:36and you know, he's either in the crash truck or maybe in the top
- 56:4010. Me.
- 56:41Oh, you mean? I mean me, but yeah, Rinz is
- 56:44always in the crash truck. Sorry about that.
- 56:51But yeah, Marini, Marini is doing great, man.
- 56:53This is, you know, like I said, 5 top 10s in a row almost for
- 56:57him, which is amazing considering where he came from.
- 57:00You know, a lot of people are saying the the injury might have
- 57:03cost him the second-half of the season and he actually came back
- 57:06stronger. Whatever he did during that
- 57:08break, all the Honda riders need to go do that, do that same
- 57:12thing that he did during his break and then come back and
- 57:15ride again because either he got rejuvenated, you know, he was in
- 57:19the Lazarus pits. The DC Comics thing got a new
- 57:24life, got a new life. But it's great to see Honda up
- 57:29there. And I, I said this in the last
- 57:31show or a couple shows again going into next year, I really
- 57:34believe Honda is in a better position than Yamaha because
- 57:38more of their riders are finishing consistently closer to
- 57:41the top. And today they had their or they
- 57:45had their first big test on the V4.
- 57:47And the feedback that has been being posted online hasn't been
- 57:51very positive. Like, you know, Quadraro posted
- 57:54something like it's actually a step back from the inline 4,
- 57:57which is, which is difficult to believe, But you know, Quadraro
- 58:02is the fastest guy in an inline 4.
- 58:03And if he says that it's a step back from the inline 4I mean
- 58:07maybe that's just him motivating Yamaha to develop the motor more
- 58:11and to get it to where he wants it.
- 58:13But I believe he was about a second and a quarter slower than
- 58:17his fastest time on the in line 4.
- 58:20Was he wearing his Pearl necklace?
- 58:22No, he wasn't. So that might also account for
- 58:24the extra half second faster. You know, pearls make you fly,
- 58:29man. Pearls make you fly.
- 58:31Make something happen. But yeah, let's talk about
- 58:33Yamaha a little bit more and, and I'll say this and you know,
- 58:36you a Reese, you know, you're the professional and all this a
- 58:41new engine, a different characteristic than they've ever
- 58:44done in, in, in Yamaha and stuff like that.
- 58:47You know, if it was too, if the test was two weeks from today
- 58:50or, you know, enough time, do you think Quattro, I would have
- 58:53had the same statement on social media because it, it, it's, it's
- 58:57going to feel different. The Revs are going to be
- 58:58different. Could it just he just needs time
- 59:01to just get adjusted? Not really.
- 59:05I mean, I think they are, they are just those riders kind of
- 59:08adjust very fast to their situation.
- 59:10You know, normally they can adjust, they can figure it out.
- 59:12They can feel this difference. I mean, you know, our guys can
- 59:15jump on something different and feel the difference like, you
- 59:18know, quick, fast and hurry. They can feel the difference
- 59:20between tires like all right, so I I don't know what the whole
- 59:26scenario is. I mean, it's so like, like Lewis
- 59:28said there, I saw it today, there was something saying
- 59:32Quatro was saying that it feels worse.
- 59:36I don't know if that was something that he said or was it
- 59:39a post or whatever. I'm like, all right, maybe it's
- 59:41not, but I mean it just, if it is, it's not a good look.
- 59:47It's really not a good look if it is.
- 59:49I mean, I know it's a stepping stone and it's just a start, but
- 59:53I mean, you still have time to figure it out and get more into
- 59:55it. But I mean, look, man, the
- 59:57clock's ticking. You're going to lose your rider.
- 1:00:00You know, we we've seen in the past riders switch manufacturers
- 1:00:03and it takes them a whole season to get up to speed.
- 1:00:05I know you say these guys get quick, fast, in a hurry, but
- 1:00:08like, you know, sometimes, you know, we see Bastianini where
- 1:00:11he's at today versus when he first started on the KTM, same
- 1:00:15thing with Maverick and stuff like that.
- 1:00:16So I mean, you know, do you think that we hope that he
- 1:00:20didn't say it? But if he did say it, do you
- 1:00:22think that's, you know, again, something that you know needs to
- 1:00:24be said because you still need a little bit adjustment?
- 1:00:29You do. But then that comes down to the
- 1:00:33two parties working together, you know, from the rider telling
- 1:00:36the crew chief and then the crew chief actually implemented to
- 1:00:39the team to figure the fix it. Because if the rider can't talk
- 1:00:43to the crew chief and tell him what he was wrong and crew chief
- 1:00:47can't fix it. If the crew chief is an idiot
- 1:00:50and the rider is telling you this and not going to do it,
- 1:00:52it's it's like like one hand washes the other hand.
- 1:00:55So it's like you get the riders got to learn how to talk to the
- 1:00:57crew chief and explain what is exactly going on, and now it's
- 1:01:01like I got to figure this out on what's going on.
- 1:01:05OK, Lewis, what are your thoughts, man?
- 1:01:08OK, TJ, go ahead, jump in. Oh, I mean, you had some, I
- 1:01:12mean, I, I, I know everybody's decided to see this before and,
- 1:01:18and it's a, it's a, it's a big change, you know, like I think
- 1:01:21can't. Wait to see this.
- 1:01:23Oh yeah, I can't wait for it's ready for us to ride, you know,
- 1:01:26well, let them get the kicks out the way now, you know, but I
- 1:01:29feel like everyone wants the results right away.
- 1:01:32And I don't think just one test is going to just you're going to
- 1:01:36see so much improvement. And it's also a different, you
- 1:01:40know, engine. So, you know, Fabio is
- 1:01:44definitely the one that to dial it in, I'm sure.
- 1:01:47So I just can't wait to see see a couple more tests on him to
- 1:01:51see what it can do, But I don't know.
- 1:01:55I just I just I just can't wait. But I was going to ask the the
- 1:01:59laptop that they're going now on it.
- 1:02:01Like obviously there's room for improvement.
- 1:02:04So for fabulous saying that it's slower or feel slower, does that
- 1:02:09really matter at this stage? Like what what do you really
- 1:02:12want to see or or feel when you go out there and test this at
- 1:02:16this time, knowing that he busts his ass and pulled out a 137 and
- 1:02:23then this this V4 I think did like a 139 or 38 or something
- 1:02:28like that. So I mean.
- 1:02:32You do know that inline 4 makes more power than the V4, right?
- 1:02:36What you say, but what you know, I'm just saying like what it
- 1:02:42what like what do they really expect it to be faster at this
- 1:02:45point going out there? So that's that's I just can't
- 1:02:49wait for them to like dial it in and and tune it a little better.
- 1:02:52So. I, I would, I would, I would
- 1:02:56send a retort to that from Fabio that would say you guys been
- 1:03:01developing this bike for about 17 God damn years now.
- 1:03:04You telling me you can't come with a better engine?
- 1:03:08That's that's as as Quadraro. That's what I would say.
- 1:03:11Like I've been waiting for this engine since like 2020 and now
- 1:03:16you guys come with this engine and it's still can't even beat
- 1:03:20the engine I'm on now. How it's going to beat Ducati
- 1:03:22that's been making this V4 for years now they're just going to
- 1:03:27kick our asses even worse. Like why are we going backwards?
- 1:03:30Like you guys should bring me an engine today that's going to
- 1:03:33blow my pants off, not give me an engine.
- 1:03:36Be like, hey, you're going to have to work on this to get it
- 1:03:38to where my current ship box is at.
- 1:03:40So I got to go ship box backwards to get your ship box
- 1:03:44current before I get to ship box forward.
- 1:03:46Come on. Is it just engine and chassis
- 1:03:51has not changed a little? Nothing.
- 1:03:52Is it literally just they just took the engine and just put in
- 1:03:54the same chassis? No, if you look at the
- 1:03:56dimensions of the bike, they definitely made some changes to
- 1:03:59the bike to be able to fit the engine like, but even then, I
- 1:04:03mean, this is things that engineers know how to do and how
- 1:04:06to still get the same dynamics out of the bike.
- 1:04:08And Reese will tell, you know, Reese will tell you, these guys
- 1:04:11will show up with an engine that is reinforce so it can hold the
- 1:04:19stresses of the torsion of the motor.
- 1:04:22It will show up with a, you know, a reinforced steering
- 1:04:25column of fully adjustable steering head, multiple
- 1:04:28positions for the swing arm. Like they just don't show up
- 1:04:31with a motor and stick it in the old frame.
- 1:04:32Be like yo go ride. Like there's a lot of other
- 1:04:35development that goes around the bike.
- 1:04:38But the core of this is the engine.
- 1:04:40Like we've they've been asking for an engine that can compete
- 1:04:43with the Ducatis and the Aprilias and everybody else
- 1:04:47that's on the V fours that's out powering them down the
- 1:04:49straightaways because they get more drive out of the corners.
- 1:04:52Because that's the dynamic of a of a twin type of engine is you
- 1:04:57get more low end torque. So you can get that bounce out
- 1:05:01of the corner and that helps you reach that higher top speed
- 1:05:04because you got that initial bounce instead of like a inline
- 1:05:074, which might not get that additional bounce has more top
- 1:05:10end. But what good is the top end if
- 1:05:12the bike's already 10 bike lanes in front of me when it's time to
- 1:05:14get to the braking zone? Like that's the dynamic they're
- 1:05:17trying to get to. So if he's saying it's worse
- 1:05:21than what I have now, if that's a true statement, maybe that's
- 1:05:26just Quattraro trying to push Yamaha to make it even better,
- 1:05:29bring me something even better. Like I need to be competitive
- 1:05:31today. I can't keep riding at 10 plus
- 1:05:35just to try to finish in 6th place.
- 1:05:38And how much of that is is it is any of that fall back on the
- 1:05:40test riders They have, I mean, granted, kind of crush knows is
- 1:05:44is out of Yamaha now is any but we you know, we got Fernandez as
- 1:05:50a test rider. He's he's he has less experience
- 1:05:53in Moto GP than than than than all the Yamaha guys.
- 1:05:56Is any of that fall on those guys to say, you know, y'all
- 1:05:59didn't see something or is it all on on Yamaha Corp?
- 1:06:04It's probably a combination, you know, I don't think it's only on
- 1:06:07the test riders. I think it's a combination
- 1:06:09because the test riders are test riders because they're not Moto
- 1:06:12GP champions, they're not perennial at the front winners.
- 1:06:16You know, they retire and they become test riders or they can't
- 1:06:20find a career in GP or World Superman going to become test
- 1:06:22rider. I mean Stephen Brattle was the
- 1:06:24Honda test rider for years and he's a very competent rider.
- 1:06:28He's a top level rider. He never really was the fastest
- 1:06:31guy Moto GP, but he can tell you what it takes to be that fast.
- 1:06:35And then that last five 10%, the fast guys have to develop that
- 1:06:40last five 10%. So I'm sure that they got plenty
- 1:06:44of data from whoever the test riders are and we'll see who
- 1:06:47their new test rider is going to be now that Kyle Crutchell is
- 1:06:50out. But.
- 1:06:52Dovey. Oh, is it?
- 1:06:54I mean, Dovey knows how to win. No, Dovey knows how to go fast.
- 1:06:57So I don't think he's going to not know how to go fast.
- 1:06:59And he can give them a lot of data of what they did also at
- 1:07:01Ducati. But again, they just got to
- 1:07:05bring the package up to speed. They got to find that extra
- 1:07:08510%, whatever it's going to take.
- 1:07:10You know, you can't give a top rider a worse package.
- 1:07:14You got to give him something at least close to where he's at
- 1:07:16that he can move forward with. Anyone else want to add anything
- 1:07:22to the new Yamaha? Baseball, I think it's the
- 1:07:25track. They they, it's that Majello or
- 1:07:28something be different. Yeah, but you got to race at
- 1:07:32every track, yeah. You got to make.
- 1:07:34Motor that's only been at 1:00. Track.
- 1:07:37I'm saying it's a tense. They're just, you know, I feel
- 1:07:39like, you know, it's. No, but this is the perfect time
- 1:07:42to have a test. The reason you have a test right
- 1:07:45after race weekend is you have all the data from the race
- 1:07:47weekend and then you can go out there and try these new parts
- 1:07:50and see how they change the data that's coming back.
- 1:07:54So they just raised the entire weekend on the inline 4.
- 1:07:56They know what they can do on the inline 4.
- 1:07:58They put the V4 out there and when they compare the data side
- 1:08:01to side, you can literally see how much better or worse the
- 1:08:05inline 4 is in the different areas.
- 1:08:08Like you can go corner by corner and see, hey, the V4 was
- 1:08:10actually 1/10 faster here, but it was a quarter second slower
- 1:08:14here or it was this here with and then you see at the
- 1:08:17consistency lap after lap. Is this just that one lap?
- 1:08:21This rider didn't judge the corner correctly.
- 1:08:23So he's a second, you know, a 10th of a second faster, slower.
- 1:08:26And then you overlay both datas. I mean, there's a lot of numbers
- 1:08:29crunching behind this and you try to find what would be the
- 1:08:32perfect lap on the V4, what would be the perfect lap on the
- 1:08:35in line for. And let's find where the
- 1:08:38differences are and see what we can do.
- 1:08:39Now let's go back to the drawing board.
- 1:08:42Let's develop this a little bit more.
- 1:08:43Let's figure out where we're weak and try to get it up and
- 1:08:47beyond with the inline 4 is. Yeah, they don't have to.
- 1:08:50They end up going back. I mean, the inline 4 is pretty
- 1:08:53much maxed out. So this is their statement
- 1:08:56Grace, right? So they're going to have to
- 1:08:59develop it now because the test didn't really show much.
- 1:09:03Yeah, but and Reese, like Reese, you'll be the best guy for this.
- 1:09:07But when you develop a motor like that, you spending
- 1:09:09millions, you're not spending 10s of thousands.
- 1:09:11This ain't a super sport. Motor in motor America is like
- 1:09:1418 grand. This is millions of dollars
- 1:09:16you're spending. And are you spending it just to
- 1:09:19go racing or do you hope to one day sell that motor?
- 1:09:22Because remember, Ducati and Aprilia sell V fours.
- 1:09:26Honda del. Yamaha does not sell V fours.
- 1:09:30Because I hear Cali's trying to make a new motor from what
- 1:09:33someone told me this weekend. But the problem is it's costing
- 1:09:36them $2.5 million to make a new motor because, you know,
- 1:09:40everything is lighter weight. The new crankshaft, the rods,
- 1:09:43everything is lightweight now, so it's too heavy.
- 1:09:46So they're trying to figure out one, but it's going to cost them
- 1:09:48so much money. Yeah.
- 1:09:51So, Reese, you're not looking forward to the V4 trickling down
- 1:09:53to the R1? I mean give me an inline 4.
- 1:10:01It'll be a little skinnier, you know?
- 1:10:05I mean, yeah, be a little hotter too.
- 1:10:06Be a lot hotter. Your balls just the.
- 1:10:12Decree A Honda V fours don't get hot man.
- 1:10:14I had one don't get. Hot, I mean, but if you know, if
- 1:10:18you can, if you can redesign an inline 4, you can redesign an
- 1:10:23inline 4 and make it have more power than that V4, right?
- 1:10:28It was V. 4 Yamaha then in Moto GP.
- 1:10:31Well, I mean that motor is just is over.
- 1:10:34It's like the 70s. It just don't have it.
- 1:10:38You got to figure that out. But like like Lewis said, I mean
- 1:10:42it's just literally like with the V4, you have so much torque
- 1:10:46at the bottom and it delivers the power smoothly and higher
- 1:10:50than the inline 4. The inline 4 is top end, but
- 1:10:54like you said, if you're already wet, you know 12 places behind
- 1:10:58by the time I try to catch up to you.
- 1:11:01What the hell am I doing? I'm not going to make it.
- 1:11:02I'm not. I'm missing that level.
- 1:11:04So you can make more power out of LN4, but the way the V4
- 1:11:07delivers its power, that's where we're at.
- 1:11:09It delivers its power different. Yeah, yeah, I can.
- 1:11:13I mean, you know, to go to Motor America, Race one and Race 2
- 1:11:16with Cam on the BMW, you know, they made the bike a little bit
- 1:11:20slower and he went a little bit faster.
- 1:11:22You can see it coming down the back straight away.
- 1:11:24He could just but Cam is on the you know, BMW is an inline 4.
- 1:11:29But you can see the power difference and you can see the
- 1:11:31power difference with Josh. You can see the power difference
- 1:11:36is there. I mean, I think the top speed
- 1:11:41was 197 and we were clocked that.
- 1:11:44Yeah, something like that. Not bad, not bad.
- 1:11:46Let's let's talk about Motagi before we get out of here.
- 1:11:49Is it kind of status quo Marquez, Marquez or you know, is
- 1:11:55it safe to say he's going to win the championship in Motegi or
- 1:11:59it's possible it could even be stretched out a little bit
- 1:12:00longer? No, it's over.
- 1:12:06He did kind of take a press conference.
- 1:12:09I think the attention is finally slightly on Alex to do good, you
- 1:12:14know, for these last couple of rounds and you know, he's been
- 1:12:17excited and you know, you see the trying to have him bounce
- 1:12:21back a little bit, but you know, there's nothing else can do.
- 1:12:25It's over. It's over, I give it up.
- 1:12:30Yeah, I don't see Alex winning the Sprint and the the race and
- 1:12:35I don't see Mark crashing out of the Sprint and the race.
- 1:12:39So short of those two scenarios, you know, I don't think it'll go
- 1:12:43pass with Taggy and I think this will be the 4th time or fifth
- 1:12:48time that Mark actually wins the championship at Mutegi.
- 1:12:52Wow. But this will be the time that
- 1:12:54hurts Honda the most because every other time he's been on a
- 1:12:56Honda and this time at the Honda official home track, they get to
- 1:13:02see a guy in a Ducati winning at their home track, which I'm sure
- 1:13:06that's fire on the Honda's ass. Yep, your old guy is out there
- 1:13:11whooping your ass. Yep.
- 1:13:14And you know, last thing, I guess is how how should Alex
- 1:13:17look at this? Because I mean, he's had he this
- 1:13:19is his best season in Moto GP. So it is a win for him
- 1:13:22finishing. I mean, he still hasn't finished
- 1:13:24second. So we don't know.
- 1:13:25We got a lot some rounds left and I don't know, I don't have
- 1:13:27the points up in front of me, but it's possible.
- 1:13:29You know, anything can happen by the end of it.
- 1:13:31But it's a good, it's, it's a good year for Alex, right?
- 1:13:36Oh yeah, yeah. I mean unless pecker, no pecker
- 1:13:41going to catch him. Well, Bez is 1011 points behind
- 1:13:45Petco, so I I think, I think Bez is probably going to finish
- 1:13:48third in the championship. Well, that was a given.
- 1:13:52Beka can't even finish a race. Yeah, I think, I think Alex is
- 1:13:58going to definitely, I mean, he should be real happy.
- 1:14:02I think he's scored more points this year than he's ever scored
- 1:14:04in his life at this level. If he stays on track the way
- 1:14:09he's at right now, he might actually finish with 400 points,
- 1:14:15which, you know, and a couple of years ago, 400 points, you would
- 1:14:18have been Moto GP champion, 400 points.
- 1:14:21So I think he should walk away, you know, with his head held
- 1:14:23high. I mean, the dude came out of
- 1:14:25nowhere. Nobody expected him to be in the
- 1:14:27positions he he's in. Nobody expected him to do as
- 1:14:29well as he did this year. Expected this to him.
- 1:14:31You know, he's got zero pressure on him.
- 1:14:34He goes and rides. He does well and everything's
- 1:14:37everything's great. But I don't see the I don't see
- 1:14:41the championship again going going past this weekend unless
- 1:14:45unless it's a crazy freaky, something freaky Fridays.
- 1:14:50Isn't it raining with Davi and Lorenzo on the Ducati and and?
- 1:14:54Mark out there it does. I will say this, it does rain
- 1:14:58pretty often at Mutegi. It does rain pretty often in
- 1:15:01Mutegi so, but I still don't doubt that Mark will throw it
- 1:15:05down a tube. And even if he does, then he'll
- 1:15:08just win at the the following event, I mean.
- 1:15:10He's just so far ahead. I mean, he's already broken the
- 1:15:12points, the points scoring record with still 5 rounds to
- 1:15:16go. And I think somebody said this,
- 1:15:19that he has the opportunity to possibly exceed 600 points in a
- 1:15:25season, which he yeah, which would be like almost 100 points
- 1:15:30more than last year when Martine set the record at like 506
- 1:15:35points or something. Yeah, 5 or 7, I believe.
- 1:15:37Yeah. So that's crazy, dude.
- 1:15:38Like 600 points. It's going.
- 1:15:41I don't see that happening again for a long time. 600 is a lot of
- 1:15:44points, man, lot of witness and greatness.
- 1:15:47Witness and greatness. We are.
- 1:15:49We are. Indeed, it's it's it's it's it's
- 1:15:52it's a beautiful. Thing to watch and see what's
- 1:15:54happening in Moto GP right now, what he's doing for sure and you
- 1:15:59know the rest of the field you know all they can do is just
- 1:16:02wake up and try to be better the next day.
- 1:16:03At least they know where the bar is.
- 1:16:05So or the corner bar, whichever one tie.
- 1:16:11No doubt. I want to thank you guys for
- 1:16:13coming on TJ 2. Wheels and two wheels and
- 1:16:16coffee. The Rio Luis Ortega, the numbers
- 1:16:18guy Reese from Mataki Yamaha performance, right.
- 1:16:21Drive safe Reese. See you in Jersey.
- 1:16:24Make sure you get more than them two T-shirts from You know Who
- 1:16:29You Owe me a Hoodie T-shirts. A whole bunch, man.
- 1:16:32I'll take. 1. I'll bring what he got that.
- 1:16:40Means he's only bringing 2 more than two.
- 1:16:44I just can't guarantee what's going to fit you.
- 1:16:47All I need is the XL man Italian.
- 1:16:51XL is different than American. XL.
- 1:16:53That's all. Well then I need A2 XL there.
- 1:16:55Give me two XL. Oh, no doubt.
- 1:16:59Take it easy, fellows. Peace.
