- 2:15Speaker 1: just showed me you got some of your own hemp
- 2:17Speaker 1: Raps coming out with the album in their Hamprass new
- 2:20Speaker 1: album coming out. For people who don't know your story, man,
- 2:25Speaker 1: just kind of give me like a quick breakdown, Like
- 2:27Speaker 1: where you're from. I'm from. I'm from South La Florence District,
- 2:31Speaker 1: you know, born and raised growing, you know, I was
- 2:33Speaker 1: born in Inglewood, California, brought to a street called Converse,
- 2:36Speaker 1: which that's my block there. We basically turned into our
- 2:40Speaker 1: block basically, and it's uh, it's it's in Florence area,
- 2:45Speaker 1: you know what I mean, Like that's that's where I
- 2:46Speaker 1: was basically raised at. That's why you see I got
- 2:50Speaker 1: a Converse All Star on my hand, because literally an
- 2:52Speaker 1: All Star from the block. You know, certain that only
- 2:54Speaker 1: a couple of us have that in and out of
- 2:57Speaker 1: the system. Let's get that mic right here in the middle.
- 3:00Speaker 1: It's just so we can get make sure in and
- 3:01Speaker 1: out of the system, you know, back and forth dealing
- 3:04Speaker 1: with you know, whatever came with me being in that area,
- 3:09Speaker 1: growing up in that area and part of you know
- 3:11Speaker 1: what I mean, the gang and stuff like that. I
- 3:13Speaker 1: was back and forth in jail, but I made the
- 3:16Speaker 1: best out of it, you know, after several years of
- 3:18Speaker 1: being in and out of the system. I just decided to,
- 3:21Speaker 1: you know, go fly the right way and try to
- 3:23Speaker 1: make something of myself that at the end of the day,
- 3:26Speaker 1: it's not you know, nothing negative, it's turning the negative
- 3:29Speaker 1: into a positive. Basically with my music, do you well?
- 3:32Speaker 1: First of all, when was the last Like when did
- 3:35Speaker 1: you get out last? So originally I parode from the
- 3:39Speaker 1: federal system in two thousand and eleven, close to twenty twelve,
- 3:45Speaker 1: I was dealing with probation. Probation was real hard for
- 3:48Speaker 1: me because I had people giving me record deals and
- 3:51Speaker 1: that I couldn't sign because of the probation. The probation
- 3:55Speaker 1: wouldn't let me sign anything that wasn't like somebody saying, hey,
- 4:00Speaker 1: here's fifty thousand dollars, we're gonna put you to work
- 4:03Speaker 1: in the studio. He's like, you know, I've had several
- 4:06Speaker 1: people come through this through through here and basically say, oh,
- 4:09Speaker 1: I got a record deal. Oh, but if they're not
- 4:12Speaker 1: offering money, because a lot of those record deals were saying, hey,
- 4:15Speaker 1: we're gonna attempt to make money with with you with you.
- 4:22Speaker 1: So with that, he was like, you know, I've had
- 4:24Speaker 1: a lot of that going on, and where I went
- 4:25Speaker 1: to the studios and I pull up and it's just
- 4:28Speaker 1: a bunch of dudes smoking weed. They're not recording, So okay,
- 4:31Speaker 1: I you know, I had to roll with the punches
- 4:33Speaker 1: and deal with that probation. And the only way I
- 4:34Speaker 1: was gonna be able to get off that probation was
- 4:38Speaker 1: me doing violations to get it done faster. And that's
- 4:41Speaker 1: what I did because I couldn't travel, couldn't leave. You know,
- 4:44Speaker 1: it was just one It was a one track thing
- 4:47Speaker 1: for me. And if I didn't have a studio or
- 4:52Speaker 1: a label paying me, then I had to have a job.
- 4:55Speaker 1: So I had to go with the whole job thing
- 4:57Speaker 1: for a little while, and it was just you know,
- 4:59Speaker 1: it was it was rough, if it wasn't easy. How
- 5:01Speaker 1: long ago did you get off probation? I got off probation.
- 5:04Speaker 1: I want to say two thousand and sixteen. It's crazy
- 5:08Speaker 1: because I feel like they, you know, if you're out
- 5:13Speaker 1: and you're trying to make something of yourself, like that
- 5:15Speaker 1: probation is kind of like it's kind of like an
- 5:17Speaker 1: invisible jail, right, Like it's a way to keep you
- 5:20Speaker 1: in the system. Like it definitely held me back from
- 5:23Speaker 1: a lot. You know, there was so many opportunities that
- 5:25Speaker 1: had risen and that were presented to me that I
- 5:28Speaker 1: wasn't able to capitalize on, and I wasn't able to
- 5:32Speaker 1: jump on, you know what I'm saying. And it's like
- 5:35Speaker 1: where when we're sitting here trying to get something positive done,
- 5:39Speaker 1: like I feel like that should be allowed, you know
- 5:41Speaker 1: what I mean, That should be respected and appreciated rather
- 5:44Speaker 1: than to trying to keep you in that that hole
- 5:48Speaker 1: that you just climbed out of, you know, by me
- 5:50Speaker 1: getting off probation, I felt like I climbed out of
- 5:52Speaker 1: a hole, you know, because it took so long. It
- 5:55Speaker 1: was you know, bobbing and weaving and still having one
- 5:58Speaker 1: foot in and one foot out. Music can still be
- 6:00Speaker 1: on the streets. Like that was not easy at all
- 6:04Speaker 1: over overall, like over your life. How many years were
- 6:07Speaker 1: you incarcerated? Man? I got locked up when I was
- 6:10Speaker 1: thirteen years old, and you know, in and out I'd
- 6:16Speaker 1: say it just oh man, from thirteen to well fifteen
- 6:23Speaker 1: or something like that, and then from sixteen to eighteen,
- 6:27Speaker 1: and then from eighteen to twenty four, from twenty four
- 6:32Speaker 1: till I was thirty two, I believe, or something like that,
- 6:35Speaker 1: Like it just was I gave them a lot of
- 6:37Speaker 1: years of my life, you know what I mean. It's
- 6:39Speaker 1: hard for me to just say one number only because
- 6:42Speaker 1: I did do small violations in between six months here,
- 6:45Speaker 1: three months, they're eight months. They're like, you know, it's
- 6:47Speaker 1: just hard to calculate all of that unless you sit
- 6:50Speaker 1: down and really say, hey, and which there's dates that
- 6:53Speaker 1: I was in the system that I don't even remember.
- 6:56Speaker 1: That's crazy because it was so much, you know, I
- 6:58Speaker 1: just I was flipping calend Yo. It's crazy because, uh,
- 7:02Speaker 1: both of my cousins who one of them still in prison,
- 7:05Speaker 1: one of us pass away, they had the calendar tattoos
- 7:08Speaker 1: all the years. Yeah. I never did that because I
- 7:11Speaker 1: would have had that going down my whole arm. That's crazy,
- 7:13Speaker 1: you know what I mean. I would have needed more
- 7:15Speaker 1: room for that, Like I just anyway, Yeah, you're right.
- 7:19Speaker 1: I mean I got a little bit of room like
- 7:20Speaker 1: on my legs and stuff. Other than that, my body's
- 7:22Speaker 1: filled up back chess face as you gotta see, you know,
- 7:27Speaker 1: you know, with the prison thing, like obviously you know
- 7:30Speaker 1: there's different politics in prison than outside of prison. Would
- 7:35Speaker 1: you say, is that accurate? You know? I feel like
- 7:38Speaker 1: everywhere you go, you know, you step on the metro,
- 7:41Speaker 1: they have rules, you know what I mean, you step
- 7:44Speaker 1: on a bus in the street, they have rule. Everywhere
- 7:46Speaker 1: you go, You're gonna deal with rules. That's just part
- 7:49Speaker 1: of the part of life. You know. When you get
- 7:53Speaker 1: to where you're going, you figure out what's going on.
- 7:56Speaker 1: And that's basically how we roll. You know what I'm saying.
- 7:59Speaker 1: It's like, I don't. I don't really how can I explain.
- 8:03Speaker 1: I don't like practice or you know, any of that.
- 8:07Speaker 1: I just wherever I get to I'm at, I basically,
- 8:11Speaker 1: you know, try to roll with the punches and roll
- 8:13Speaker 1: with what's going on and just go the right direction,
- 8:16Speaker 1: just fly a straight kite, you know. Would you say like,
- 8:19Speaker 1: because you know there's I feel like when you're locked up,
- 8:22Speaker 1: when you're incarcerated, usually there's like every group of people
- 8:26Speaker 1: has like a shot caller, somebody kind of helps, you know,
- 8:29Speaker 1: maybe kind of navigate who's who's coming in, who's coming out,
- 8:33Speaker 1: like help navigate the politics and situations on the yard.
- 8:38Speaker 1: Was that ever a position that you were in, I mean,
- 8:41Speaker 1: I don't. I wouldn't say that. I usually, like I said,
- 8:44Speaker 1: I'm not trying to drive no airplane and shit I'm
- 8:47Speaker 1: a passenger and I'm just you know, trying to get
- 8:49Speaker 1: to our destination properly. And that's about it. That's fair.
- 8:52Speaker 1: That's fair. You know, when we think about prison, I
- 8:56Speaker 1: wass here would hear crazy stories about riots going on
- 8:58Speaker 1: in prison? Like when were you ever a part of
- 9:02Speaker 1: any of the or witness any of that stuff? All
- 9:04Speaker 1: of that comes along with, you know, you being incarcerated.
- 9:07Speaker 1: You don't even gotta go look for it. It's gonna
- 9:08Speaker 1: find you, you know, it definitely find you. You know
- 9:12Speaker 1: a lot of the a lot of times. So I
- 9:14Speaker 1: started off going to a level three prison, which level
- 9:19Speaker 1: two's and level ones are a little bit lighter on everything.
- 9:24Speaker 1: Level threes and level fours are a little bit higher
- 9:26Speaker 1: on you know, respect level, just you know, just different things.
- 9:29Speaker 1: So while I was there in the level three prison,
- 9:33Speaker 1: you know a lot of people would say, hey, look,
- 9:35Speaker 1: if your points don't go up, you're gonna get sent
- 9:39Speaker 1: to like a level two or a level one, which
- 9:41Speaker 1: you're not gonna like being the fact that you already
- 9:44Speaker 1: started in a higher prison where the respect level is
- 9:47Speaker 1: much higher, where you know, there's a lot more going on.
- 9:50Speaker 1: So points just so what do you mean points? So
- 9:54Speaker 1: we there's a point system while you're incarcerated. It's like,
- 9:57Speaker 1: if you do good, your points drop, so you go
- 10:00Speaker 1: to a different jail. Yeah, they'll send you to somewhere
- 10:02Speaker 1: else and then like a less security, like a lower
- 10:05Speaker 1: security or whatnot. If your if your points go higher,
- 10:09Speaker 1: then you go to a higher security, or you stay
- 10:12Speaker 1: where you're at, depending on their their like their way
- 10:17Speaker 1: of monitoring your points. So my points were gonna drop
- 10:20Speaker 1: because I hadn't gotten no you know, right ups. No,
- 10:23Speaker 1: I haven't gotten in trouble. So a lot of people
- 10:26Speaker 1: were like, you might want to, you know, spike up
- 10:28Speaker 1: your points, get a little right up for this, get
- 10:30Speaker 1: a little right up for that. And then I had
- 10:32Speaker 1: an older homie that came up to me and told
- 10:34Speaker 1: me straight up, he said, don't go jack up your points.
- 10:37Speaker 1: It's gonna come to you when you least expect it.
- 10:40Speaker 1: You don't need to are gonna come, don't even look
- 10:43Speaker 1: for it. So and they did. I started getting right
- 10:45Speaker 1: ups for fucking alcohol and I don't even drink. Start
- 10:49Speaker 1: getting right up for this that dad getting caught knives,
- 10:51Speaker 1: Like just if all that stuff came on its own,
- 10:54Speaker 1: I didn't have to go look for it. So the
- 10:56Speaker 1: idea of like one like like not your make yourself,
- 10:59Speaker 1: but the idea of your peers of getting your points
- 11:02Speaker 1: higher to stay where you're at, is that based on
- 11:04Speaker 1: just like, Hey, you're already here, you're already established, you're
- 11:08Speaker 1: comfortable or comfortable. You know, if you go to a
- 11:10Speaker 1: new prison, you might need to hit reset on start
- 11:13Speaker 1: over network and everywhere you go. Like I said, it's
- 11:16Speaker 1: a different differ, it's a different ball game. And like
- 11:18Speaker 1: I said, that they want you somewhere where. Of course,
- 11:21Speaker 1: anybody in general, not just me or any of my
- 11:25Speaker 1: friends or anybody in general, would love respect more than
- 11:30Speaker 1: someone that's being disrespectful or you know what I'm saying.
- 11:32Speaker 1: So in those places, the higher levels of prisons, there's
- 11:35Speaker 1: more respect. That's fair. I don't know. Did you see
- 11:38Speaker 1: recently Whack was on Clubhouse talking about how you would
- 11:42Speaker 1: never sign a Southsider? Did you see that? I heard
- 11:46Speaker 1: about it, and I didn't really pay too much attention
- 11:48Speaker 1: to it. I talked to him about it a bit,
- 11:49Speaker 1: and he was just like, you know, I obviously have
- 11:51Speaker 1: Mexicans I signed. He's like, but I was locked up
- 11:53Speaker 1: for X amount of years, and you know we were
- 11:55Speaker 1: at war, and like I couldn't sign the South Side
- 11:58Speaker 1: or because my comrades that are still incarcerated will look
- 12:02Speaker 1: at me a certain way. Was that like, like, is
- 12:06Speaker 1: that something that as you know? Because I feel like
- 12:10Speaker 1: I guess I never I didn't grow up in La
- 12:12Speaker 1: so I guess like the beef between Blacks and Mexicans
- 12:14Speaker 1: was something I never really witnessed because it was never
- 12:16Speaker 1: something that happened in Phoenix where I'm from. Right, But
- 12:18Speaker 1: how serious like in prison, Like you guys are enemies, right,
- 12:22Speaker 1: I mean in prison there's a whole rules. Nobody is
- 12:27Speaker 1: really your enemy, and you know what I mean, It's
- 12:29Speaker 1: just things happen while you're in there. And they could
- 12:32Speaker 1: be with the officers, it could be with another race,
- 12:35Speaker 1: it can be with whoever. It's just not one certain
- 12:38Speaker 1: crowd that you don't like and wake up and say, hey,
- 12:42Speaker 1: I hate these people. Because if you hate somebody, they're
- 12:45Speaker 1: right across the day room from you. You can go
- 12:47Speaker 1: get them. There's no I hate them, but they can
- 12:51Speaker 1: stay on their side of the day room. I'll stay
- 12:52Speaker 1: on myself. It don't work like that. If I hate somebody,
- 12:55Speaker 1: I'm coming for you. You know what I mean and
- 12:58Speaker 1: as far as what you know, Whack one hundred said,
- 13:01Speaker 1: you know, I feel like every man has their own opinion,
- 13:04Speaker 1: or every man has their own choice. If that's what
- 13:06Speaker 1: he chooses, that's his opinion, so be it. You know,
- 13:09Speaker 1: there's people from our side, you know, Hispanics that don't
- 13:14Speaker 1: like blacks, and that's their decision, you know what I'm saying, Like,
- 13:17Speaker 1: that's their opinion. It's just all it's just all part
- 13:20Speaker 1: of you know, being a man and taking these these
- 13:24Speaker 1: these like how can I say, like stop taking everything
- 13:28Speaker 1: to the heart man, you know what I'm saying, at
- 13:30Speaker 1: the end of the day, just roll with whatever's going on.
- 13:32Speaker 1: And do you do you feel do you feel like
- 13:36Speaker 1: it was hard for you at any point in time
- 13:38Speaker 1: to like leave behind that prison mind state, maybe like
- 13:41Speaker 1: leave behind some of the ideas in the politics of
- 13:44Speaker 1: going to being locked up in a position that you're
- 13:46Speaker 1: in and like and then also get out be a
- 13:48Speaker 1: free man, try to stay on the right track and
- 13:50Speaker 1: also succeed in as an as an artist. Well, it's
- 13:53Speaker 1: always hard being the fact that, you know, one thing
- 13:56Speaker 1: I can't give up is my homies. I love my homies,
- 13:59Speaker 1: you know, and I still you know, associate, communicate, whatever
- 14:03Speaker 1: you want to call it. With some of them that
- 14:04Speaker 1: are family, basically they grew to be family over the years.
- 14:08Speaker 1: It's like it's not about us going to go look
- 14:12Speaker 1: and try to find an enemy now or oh it's
- 14:14Speaker 1: us trying to sell drugs now. Like now, it's just
- 14:16Speaker 1: say what's up, my boy? How you doing? Oh? Look today,
- 14:19Speaker 1: I did this, I did this music, I did that. So,
- 14:21Speaker 1: like the good thing about my homies is they respect
- 14:24Speaker 1: what I'm doing. They appreciate what I'm doing, and you know,
- 14:27Speaker 1: they still got love for me. They haven't switched up.
- 14:30Speaker 1: They haven't, you know, basically like I've seen other you know,
- 14:35Speaker 1: artists that are from certain gangs that they can't go
- 14:37Speaker 1: to their neighborhood because their homies don't fuck with them
- 14:39Speaker 1: like that. You know what I mean. My homies do
- 14:42Speaker 1: and that's a blessing, you know what I mean. And
- 14:44Speaker 1: they see what I'm doing, they see that I'm doing
- 14:46Speaker 1: something positive and they respect it. What would be your advice, Right,
- 14:51Speaker 1: Let's say you're talking to a kid who's from where
- 14:53Speaker 1: you're from and then getting mixed up and some shit
- 14:55Speaker 1: that maybe you got mixed up in, and you kind
- 14:58Speaker 1: of made that mistake. First, how would you advise somebody
- 15:03Speaker 1: to try to like avoid kind of made doing some
- 15:06Speaker 1: of the things that you did that you know, right?
- 15:08Speaker 1: I mean I feel like I all I can do
- 15:11Speaker 1: is give my advice and give my you know, incentitive
- 15:14Speaker 1: on what can happen if they lead and going that route.
- 15:19Speaker 1: I mean, it's their choice to make. I can't make
- 15:22Speaker 1: the choice for them, and I'm going to respect whatever
- 15:25Speaker 1: it is they decide to do. I'm not gonna sit
- 15:28Speaker 1: there and nag or try to preach or cause it
- 15:30Speaker 1: took me a lot to get to where where I'm
- 15:32Speaker 1: at in my mind state. It wasn't overnight, and it
- 15:36Speaker 1: wasn't somebody just telling me, hey, if you take that road,
- 15:39Speaker 1: this is gonna you know, I heard that so many
- 15:41Speaker 1: times and I just it went in one ear came
- 15:43Speaker 1: out the other. I just kept going going for what
- 15:45Speaker 1: I knew. That's straight, that's real. How long have you
- 15:48Speaker 1: actually been rapping, like writing rapping? Like how long have
- 15:51Speaker 1: you actually been like kind of applying yourself to being
- 15:53Speaker 1: just a writer? Right? So I started young, like with
- 15:56Speaker 1: with like I love music. So I started, you know,
- 16:00Speaker 1: when I was thirteen years old before I started going
- 16:01Speaker 1: to jail and stuff. Like I would go to like
- 16:03Speaker 1: my neighborhood parties and grab the mic and you know,
- 16:06Speaker 1: a certain part of a beat, like a bounced rock
- 16:08Speaker 1: skate beat, the old school beat. I would just sit
- 16:10Speaker 1: there and you know, rap about neighborhood stuff and gangs
- 16:13Speaker 1: and all that kind of stuff. And I had the
- 16:16Speaker 1: crowd of the people dancing. So I'm sitting there like, okay,
- 16:19Speaker 1: like they really feeling this, like you know what I mean,
- 16:21Speaker 1: Like I'm really they're not just sitting here laughing at them, motherfucker,
- 16:24Speaker 1: or else they wouldn't even be sitting there trying to
- 16:26Speaker 1: dance or bobbing their heads to it, like they would
- 16:29Speaker 1: have been laughing like you know. So I felt that
- 16:31Speaker 1: they you know, they gave me that motivation to keep
- 16:34Speaker 1: pushing and keep going with it. And like I said,
- 16:36Speaker 1: so much time in the system that you know, when
- 16:39Speaker 1: I would get somewhere, it's like say, if I write
- 16:43Speaker 1: a dig kick off on the yard, then we get
- 16:45Speaker 1: locked down. So all that time locked down, I'll sit
- 16:47Speaker 1: and write music, you know, write music. I'll work out,
- 16:50Speaker 1: bird bath, do whatever it is to get through that day.
- 16:52Speaker 1: But at least an hour or two hours rocatered to
- 16:56Speaker 1: my writing. You know, I didn't stop when I came home.
- 16:59Speaker 1: I had six years or five or six years of notebooks,
- 17:03Speaker 1: notebooks filled up. I still have them that I haven't
- 17:05Speaker 1: touched that you started anything from there. I got hooks,
- 17:10Speaker 1: I got you know, versus twelve bars, eight bar, sixteen
- 17:13Speaker 1: bar verses like I got music for days in that
- 17:16Speaker 1: folder and then folders. And when I came home, I
- 17:19Speaker 1: learned how to use the phone to write my lyrics.
- 17:23Speaker 1: So I just pushed that aside and said, okay, cool,
- 17:25Speaker 1: I could do it off of here. Now. I got
- 17:26Speaker 1: one hundred and one hundred and twenty songs plus that
- 17:29Speaker 1: ain't been released that I just got sitting there, Like,
- 17:32Speaker 1: I got a lot of music. You know, you mentioned
- 17:34Speaker 1: a bird bath. What's the bird bath? Bordbeth is when
- 17:36Speaker 1: you're not allowed to go take a real shower cause
- 17:38Speaker 1: they're because you know, you can't come out of your cell.
- 17:41Speaker 1: So you got a shower with that sink and that
- 17:43Speaker 1: toilet that you got right there, you know what I mean.
- 17:46Speaker 1: You put towels towards the door kind of stopped the
- 17:49Speaker 1: water from going out onto the tier because nobody likes
- 17:52Speaker 1: water on your tier. You know what I'm saying. People
- 17:54Speaker 1: try to fish, people try to walk through there. They
- 17:56Speaker 1: can't because there's a puddle of water and soap, which
- 17:58Speaker 1: is nasty. It's all your dirt water, you know what
- 18:00Speaker 1: i mean. So you you know, you put up the
- 18:02Speaker 1: towels a certain way to where you see which way
- 18:06Speaker 1: the water goes. If the water comes this way, you
- 18:08Speaker 1: make sure that part is blocked in so the water
- 18:11Speaker 1: stays in your cell you know. You put up a
- 18:13Speaker 1: sheet or blanket whatever it is to cover your celly
- 18:16Speaker 1: so your celly ain't watching. You wash your ass, you
- 18:18Speaker 1: know what I mean. Of course, soap up, you know,
- 18:21Speaker 1: throw you get a cup water, you know, pour water
- 18:24Speaker 1: all over yourself. Soap up whatever you can. And the
- 18:27Speaker 1: same thing. You fill up your sink where you put
- 18:29Speaker 1: a little piece of maybe I don't know, an envelope
- 18:32Speaker 1: or whatever that it'll hold the little hose down so
- 18:34Speaker 1: the water don't go down. Fill up the sink with
- 18:37Speaker 1: the water. Then you just dunking your cup and just
- 18:38Speaker 1: pouring it over yourself. You make sure you shower. It's
- 18:41Speaker 1: a shower, but it's called a bird bath, you know
- 18:43Speaker 1: what I'm saying. Then after that you get your your towels,
- 18:48Speaker 1: you pick up all that dirt water and just wring
- 18:50Speaker 1: it all out into your toilet. You know, it's it's
- 18:53Speaker 1: it's a little hassle, but once you learn how to
- 18:54Speaker 1: do it, and they're refreshing, you know what I mean.
- 18:57Speaker 1: You're clean. You can lay back on your bed and
- 18:58Speaker 1: smell good, like you know, and you would do that
- 19:00Speaker 1: only if you were under lockdown, right, which a lot
- 19:02Speaker 1: of the times we were, so sometimes that was almost
- 19:04Speaker 1: every day because I think they'll give you a shower
- 19:06Speaker 1: like every seventy two hours, seventy two hours, like seventy
- 19:08Speaker 1: two hours, and it's like, I'm not gonna sit there
- 19:13Speaker 1: and wait for those seventy two hours. I'm gonna shower. Yeah. Yeah,
- 19:17Speaker 1: especially if you've got a cell mates to work and
- 19:19Speaker 1: you're working that out, like you know, that's why you
- 19:21Speaker 1: get that program. You clean your cell you know, one
- 19:24Speaker 1: day he cleaned it, one day. I clean it one
- 19:26Speaker 1: day he like, you know, we take turns and shit,
- 19:28Speaker 1: and it's it's like I said, the respect level is
- 19:31Speaker 1: a lot better when you're in you know, places like that.
- 19:34Speaker 1: What happens if you get a cell mate and it
- 19:35Speaker 1: doesn't work out, You don't get along with them. Is
- 19:38Speaker 1: it like like what happens? Then it's like a forced roommate.
- 19:43Speaker 1: You can't even vet the guy like you know what
- 19:45Speaker 1: I mean. It all depends, you know what I'm saying.
- 19:46Speaker 1: There's certain ways of going about it and getting you know,
- 19:49Speaker 1: your rooms moved around, and you know what I'm saying,
- 19:52Speaker 1: you put with somebody you're a little bit more compatible with,
- 19:54Speaker 1: or somebody you know from the streets. Like myself, I
- 19:58Speaker 1: kind of refra rained from having my own homies in
- 20:01Speaker 1: the cell because I felt like, you know, after a
- 20:05Speaker 1: little while, your own homies get comfortable, you know what
- 20:07Speaker 1: I mean, Like they know you from the streets, they
- 20:09Speaker 1: love you, and it's like they get real comfortable whatever
- 20:13Speaker 1: it is, you know. So I kind of just so
- 20:15Speaker 1: that we could keep that same love and same respect,
- 20:18Speaker 1: Like I selled up with other dudes that you know
- 20:20Speaker 1: what I mean, I didn't know like that, So that
- 20:22Speaker 1: way the respect stays stays there. That's interesting, you know.
- 20:27Speaker 1: So the last time you got out, what was for you,
- 20:30Speaker 1: like the I guess the thing that changed where you
- 20:35Speaker 1: really focused on staying out for good and focusing on
- 20:40Speaker 1: the music shit like full time. So the first time
- 20:43Speaker 1: I told a couple of people before the first time
- 20:46Speaker 1: I came home was in two thousand and five. That
- 20:48Speaker 1: was from the state prison. And when I came home,
- 20:51Speaker 1: I had to I had just did close to six years.
- 20:54Speaker 1: I came home and I told myself, Hey, whatever it
- 20:57Speaker 1: takes to get some to get paid, do it. You
- 21:01Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, Whatever you need to do, get
- 21:03Speaker 1: this bread, go get it. So I did. But I
- 21:06Speaker 1: did that, like I told myself, legal or illegally. So yeah,
- 21:11Speaker 1: I mean yeah, when you say whatever it takes, it
- 21:13Speaker 1: didn't matter, you know. So I was running around acting
- 21:15Speaker 1: a fool, getting money, you know, on the streets. But
- 21:18Speaker 1: it was not legit, you know what I'm saying. I was.
- 21:21Speaker 1: I was acting a fool, like I said. So I
- 21:24Speaker 1: seen that I was able to do that, and I
- 21:26Speaker 1: went back to the system. I went back to the FED.
- 21:28Speaker 1: You end up, you ended up getting caught up for
- 21:30Speaker 1: the ways you were getting money. Why did you get
- 21:32Speaker 1: like what you get caught up? I got. I got
- 21:34Speaker 1: caught up on a on a Rico recordeeron extors in
- 21:37Speaker 1: a conspiracy case, and w ended up going to the
- 21:39Speaker 1: FEDS and ship you know for phone calls, you know,
- 21:41Speaker 1: talking about though whatever. You know what I'm saying, I
- 21:44Speaker 1: ended up getting caught up. Anyways, after that, you know,
- 21:47Speaker 1: now I'm sitting in you know, federal federal custody U
- 21:51Speaker 1: doing my bed and telling myself in my mind, if
- 21:55Speaker 1: I told myself the first time that I'm going to
- 21:57Speaker 1: get out and get paid, no matter what it, I'm
- 22:01Speaker 1: gonna get it, and I did that, I said, maybe
- 22:03Speaker 1: I could do that again, but righteously the right way.
- 22:08Speaker 1: I'm gonna get out, get money, get paid, legitly do
- 22:11Speaker 1: my music, and just go as hard as I went
- 22:15Speaker 1: back then. Now but with this and hey, did it again?
- 22:21Speaker 1: Have you ever thought about because I feel like people
- 22:24Speaker 1: would pay you to come and speak to them, right.
- 22:27Speaker 1: I feel like you could be like a motivational speaker man,
- 22:30Speaker 1: you know, like I always see like there's like motivational
- 22:34Speaker 1: speakers who have crazy backgrounds. You could go speak at conventions,
- 22:37Speaker 1: you can speak at leadership shit like I feel like
- 22:39Speaker 1: you got a crazy story. I actually did that a
- 22:41Speaker 1: little bit. I did that a little bit with a
- 22:43Speaker 1: company that I worked for when I first came home
- 22:45Speaker 1: from the FATS. They had me going to like schools
- 22:49Speaker 1: and talking to the kids and it was funny because
- 22:52Speaker 1: you know a lot of the teachers would sit there
- 22:53Speaker 1: and look at me like, oh shit, who are we
- 22:55Speaker 1: bringing into our school? But when I leave, those kids
- 22:58Speaker 1: would be asking for me. They would get at you know,
- 23:01Speaker 1: my boss where I worked at and ask him, Hey,
- 23:04Speaker 1: is he coming back. The teachers would be like, we
- 23:06Speaker 1: need him back because now this kid that didn't listen
- 23:10Speaker 1: to me for all these years is listening to me
- 23:13Speaker 1: and now this like they really enjoyed what I brought
- 23:16Speaker 1: to the table. And funny that I ended up catching
- 23:19Speaker 1: the violation through my probation officer that you know went
- 23:24Speaker 1: and said that, oh, I made an album while I
- 23:27Speaker 1: was on probation, which I shouldn't have done, the Baldacci Code,
- 23:30Speaker 1: which is my album. Well, you weren't even allowed to
- 23:33Speaker 1: record nah, because he said that when did you get
- 23:35Speaker 1: the time to go record that? When you're supposed to
- 23:37Speaker 1: be at work, when you're supposed to be this, when
- 23:39Speaker 1: you don't have money for this or you don't have
- 23:41Speaker 1: money for that. Like I came home and my music
- 23:45Speaker 1: carried the money, like I didn't need to have money.
- 23:48Speaker 1: People were hitting me up, hey, come record at our studio.
- 23:51Speaker 1: We got you. You don't got to pay nothing like
- 23:53Speaker 1: that type of shit. That's what they didn't understand. He
- 23:55Speaker 1: was looking at my social media and like, you got
- 23:58Speaker 1: a bent lee on your last post, you got money
- 24:01Speaker 1: to pay for these these house arrests or this. Dad. Like,
- 24:04Speaker 1: I'm like, bro, that's not my bingley. And once you
- 24:06Speaker 1: see that, you know, once you look at that and
- 24:09Speaker 1: picture that like that, you're you're turning into a fan, bro,
- 24:12Speaker 1: Like you know what I'm saying, Like this is just
- 24:13Speaker 1: part of y I you know what I mean, Like
- 24:16Speaker 1: this is what you're This is what also people are.
- 24:19Speaker 1: You can record at home in your closet for fucking right,
- 24:21Speaker 1: three hundred dollars a guitar center right, And he didn't
- 24:23Speaker 1: understand that, you know, I had to kind of explain
- 24:25Speaker 1: to him. So he finally took me to jail for that,
- 24:28Speaker 1: and took me to jail for being with my son's
- 24:30Speaker 1: mom because she was on a federal custody as well.
- 24:34Speaker 1: But when we got there, she was pregnant. My judge
- 24:37Speaker 1: was like, Okay, what is he here for. He's like, oh,
- 24:40Speaker 1: you know, he's here for the violation for recording this
- 24:44Speaker 1: album and talking about gang stuff and murders and whatever.
- 24:47Speaker 1: He thought that I was talking about. He just put
- 24:50Speaker 1: his little concoction of stuff in his brain, right, Oh,
- 24:53Speaker 1: he's this is what he's talking about. Then he said, oh,
- 24:56Speaker 1: he's also in violation for being with the kid's mom
- 25:00Speaker 1: or my pregnant baby mom, and for missing a drug test.
- 25:04Speaker 1: So those were the three things that I was there for.
- 25:06Speaker 1: She kicked out two of them. She kicked out the
- 25:09Speaker 1: main CD album thing, she kicked out the baby mama thing,
- 25:14Speaker 1: and all she left me was the mister drug test.
- 25:17Speaker 1: He asked for a year added to my probation and
- 25:23Speaker 1: a year more in custody. He wanted me to go
- 25:25Speaker 1: back to jail. So she said, you know what, I
- 25:27Speaker 1: have twenty seven letters from teachers and from all these
- 25:32Speaker 1: people saying how he's such a good guy and how
- 25:35Speaker 1: he's doing so well with hisself. Should I believe the
- 25:38Speaker 1: twenty seven letters of people or should I believe you?
- 25:42Speaker 1: Like She's like, I'm kind of like struggling to see
- 25:45Speaker 1: who I'm gonna believe. And also I believe it was
- 25:48Speaker 1: a comment on social media that Kamala Harris had left.
- 25:52Speaker 1: She left to comment on your social media, not exactly mine,
- 25:55Speaker 1: but the people that were like that, I worked for before.
- 25:58Speaker 1: They put up a post of me going to speak
- 26:01Speaker 1: to the kids, and she left the comment like saying
- 26:03Speaker 1: that's great or that's awesome or something. So you know,
- 26:06Speaker 1: of course they screenshoted. They used that towards my advantage
- 26:08Speaker 1: as well. She seen that she ended the time that
- 26:11Speaker 1: Kamala Harris is the This was before she's the attorney
- 26:14Speaker 1: general or this the attorney or some I don't think
- 26:16Speaker 1: she was what she is now right right, Well, she
- 26:18Speaker 1: definitely wasn't vice president, but at amportant time, I think
- 26:20Speaker 1: she was attorney. Yeah. I think that's when she was
- 26:22Speaker 1: attorney tenal or something like that. So they say she
- 26:25Speaker 1: locked up a lot of people. Yeah that's crazy. Yeah
- 26:28Speaker 1: so she I mean it helped me in a sense though.
- 26:30Speaker 1: That's great going forward. You know, the judge, she was
- 26:34Speaker 1: a sister, you know what I mean. So she was cool.
- 26:36Speaker 1: She was actually taking the time to read. She actually
- 26:39Speaker 1: applied herself to all of the information. She real like
- 26:42Speaker 1: some judges would just look at the probation officer, look
- 26:45Speaker 1: at me. Yeah this guy, Yeah, I don't care what
- 26:48Speaker 1: you say. You got going like you're gone. So that
- 26:51Speaker 1: helped me and instead of giving me a year in
- 26:54Speaker 1: custody and a year added to my time. She gave
- 26:57Speaker 1: me ninety days in custody and termination of probation, so
- 27:02Speaker 1: that kind of was a blessing. It was the best.
- 27:03Speaker 1: Could you'd rather go knock that three months and then
- 27:06Speaker 1: we'll do this. They're free, no reading the book? Yeah
- 27:08Speaker 1: what I mean, like, I'm not even tripping. And and
- 27:10Speaker 1: that helped me because you know, I went and did it,
- 27:12Speaker 1: and when I came home, I didn't have no tail,
- 27:14Speaker 1: no worries. You know what's up? Y'all got to interrupt
- 27:16Speaker 1: the Bootleg cap podcast. We have a brand new sponsor. Hmmm.
- 27:20Speaker 1: And I love this sponsor. I've been giving them my
- 27:22Speaker 1: money for a long time, so about time they gave
- 27:24Speaker 1: some back. My Bookie, Yes, that's right if you are

- 28:10Speaker 1: of these home games I've been to him. It's a
- 28:12Speaker 1: lot of out out, outdoor fans coming in the forty
- 28:15Speaker 1: nine ers. It took that place over twice in the

- 28:37Speaker 1: color do you think the gatorade is gonna be to
- 28:38Speaker 1: get spilled at the end of the game? Hey, what
- 28:40Speaker 1: about that toying? The coin flip? Is it heads or
- 28:42Speaker 1: as it tails? Whatever it is is Matthew Stafford, you're
- 28:45Speaker 1: gonna throw a stupid ass interception. Probably probably is Joe
- 28:51Speaker 1: Mixon gonna score a touchdown. I like it. I don't know.
- 28:55Speaker 1: Get in on that prop back action and listen. Even
- 28:58Speaker 1: if you don't pick on who's gonna win you, you you
- 28:59Speaker 1: could be a winner. All right. It's a great look.

- 29:20Speaker 1: deposit a thousand, they match a thousand bet anything anytime,
- 29:24Speaker 1: anywhere with my bookie. Let's get back to the podcast.
- 29:27Speaker 1: For three years bro of probation, well actually four years
- 29:32Speaker 1: of probation, I wasn't able to smoke weed, and that's
- 29:35Speaker 1: my thing. I smoke what like, I'm a fucking weedhead,
- 29:37Speaker 1: you know, so I had to, you know, compromise. I
- 29:41Speaker 1: was smoking spice. Oh that' shit's dangerous. Bro. I would
- 29:44Speaker 1: pass the blunts of people and they would pass out
- 29:46Speaker 1: right next to me that I grabbed my blunt back
- 29:49Speaker 1: and keep smoking. You were smoking spice, like how often
- 29:52Speaker 1: thirty blunts a day? Bro of spice? Spice? Thirty blunts
- 29:56Speaker 1: a day. That's where they were around me. My brother,
- 29:57Speaker 1: he'll tell you, did you have any episodes on that?
- 30:00Speaker 1: I did, but not to where it freaked me out
- 30:03Speaker 1: completely because I already seen what it was doing to
- 30:05Speaker 1: everybody else. So when it'll hit me in that little
- 30:07Speaker 1: weird state, I just kind of ride it out and
- 30:10Speaker 1: just sit there and wait and be like, what what
- 30:12Speaker 1: is that weird state feel like? Because I think we
- 30:14Speaker 1: think of spice, it's like an adrenaline when we think
- 30:17Speaker 1: of the guy in Miami who fucking was wild out
- 30:20Speaker 1: and you bite somebody. Yeah, I ain't never get no,
- 30:23Speaker 1: but like, like, what's like the craziest spice? Like, what
- 30:26Speaker 1: is that? What is that? It's just a crazy adrenaline
- 30:29Speaker 1: that I got while I was, you know, smoking. I've
- 30:34Speaker 1: been with some of my homies and we're smoking and
- 30:36Speaker 1: my homies get a whole picture in their head like
- 30:40Speaker 1: they're about to kill us, take me home type shit,
- 30:42Speaker 1: and I'm like, bro, we're good. We have the gas station,
- 30:44Speaker 1: like we're just gonna get gas, don't trip, and I'm tripping.
- 30:46Speaker 1: I'm tripping type shit. So I know it affected different people.
- 30:50Speaker 1: Majority of the people that it did affect while I
- 30:52Speaker 1: was with them, their first and instant, like, their first
- 30:55Speaker 1: thing that came to mind was I'm gonna die. They
- 30:57Speaker 1: would always grab their head and oh my god, I'm
- 30:59Speaker 1: about to die, and I'm like, bro, you're not just chill,
- 31:02Speaker 1: you know what I mean? You never felt that way.
- 31:04Speaker 1: I got to word. I mean, you were day man.
- 31:07Speaker 1: So I built a hell of a coma. You're still here,
- 31:10Speaker 1: but thank god, man, And everywhere in neighborhoods that I'm
- 31:14Speaker 1: not supposed to be in standing in line trying to
- 31:16Speaker 1: buy spice to where the dudes will come in and
- 31:18Speaker 1: be like you from Florence and I'm like, yeah, you know,
- 31:21Speaker 1: you're not supposed to be right, like, yeah, I'm just
- 31:23Speaker 1: gonna get something from the store real quick. I'm good. Like.
- 31:24Speaker 1: So you were like seeking out spice everywhere, no matter
- 31:27Speaker 1: where you had to go type shit. And it was
- 31:29Speaker 1: funny because it started becoming illegal. So you go to
- 31:31Speaker 1: one little smoke shop like, oh, we don't got it
- 31:34Speaker 1: no more. But you could go two blocks to the
- 31:35Speaker 1: right and make eleven where is right there? And you're like, oh,
- 31:38Speaker 1: on my way. Like, you know people who got locked up.
- 31:40Speaker 1: A smoke shop owner in Arizona got locked up because
- 31:42Speaker 1: he was I think he was like one of the
- 31:45Speaker 1: distributors of that shit. A lot of people I know
- 31:47Speaker 1: who are like in that industry got got hit with
- 31:50Speaker 1: some serious charges and that dude had to go to
- 31:52Speaker 1: jail for a few years over spice. Bro, I've seen
- 31:55Speaker 1: people just take a hit and just start having a
- 31:57Speaker 1: seizure right next to me. Bro, I'm like, what the hell. Yeah,
- 32:01Speaker 1: it kind of reminds me of like I guess in
- 32:02Speaker 1: the nineties when people were doing angel dusts right right.
- 32:06Speaker 1: And it's funny that it light's basically like the same,
- 32:09Speaker 1: like it flames of It's something that whatever chemicals it
- 32:12Speaker 1: was that they were putting in there, they're not good
- 32:13Speaker 1: for people. And on the bag and the packaging it
- 32:16Speaker 1: says not for human consumption. That's what a lot of
- 32:19Speaker 1: people will get mad at me about, like you're reading that,
- 32:21Speaker 1: what are you still doing? You know? But I'm like,
- 32:25Speaker 1: I can't smoke weed. This is the closest I get
- 32:27Speaker 1: to week because nine out of ten times that I
- 32:29Speaker 1: smoked that blunt. It makes me feel like I'm high,
- 32:31Speaker 1: like I smoked the blunt wheat. Wow, the spice. That's
- 32:35Speaker 1: fucking crazy. And then they're notting you for spice. No,
- 32:38Speaker 1: I don't come out, don't come out on your test.
- 32:40Speaker 1: So after all that was done, you know, I got
- 32:42Speaker 1: off probation, I went straight back to weed immediately cut
- 32:46Speaker 1: the other bullshit away. And you know, did you ever
- 32:48Speaker 1: were you ever involved in any other drugs? Like, did
- 32:50Speaker 1: you ever have any any errors where you were anything
- 32:52Speaker 1: When I was younger, you know what I'm saying. I
- 32:54Speaker 1: tried stuff. I tried smoking primos, I tried all the
- 32:56Speaker 1: little all the little bullshit, you know what I mean.
- 32:59Speaker 1: But it's just nothing never stuck with me. Nothing never
- 33:02Speaker 1: caught my attention like that. And I just you know,
- 33:06Speaker 1: that's not mean. I know some people like well go
- 33:07Speaker 1: to go to prison and like because of the time
- 33:10Speaker 1: or because of boredom or whatever, they pick up like heroin,
- 33:13Speaker 1: and kind of it happens. It happens. You know, I
- 33:16Speaker 1: myself chose not to. I'm the type of person that
- 33:19Speaker 1: if I like something, I like and I'll keep doing it.
- 33:22Speaker 1: So I don't want to even test myself like that,
- 33:25Speaker 1: you know. So I'm happy that I like weed because
- 33:27Speaker 1: I'm gonna keep doing that, you know what I mean?
- 33:29Speaker 1: Real quick, my dad's called me six times in a row.
- 33:33Speaker 1: Oh my dad's got COVID. Oh I call you, well,
- 33:42Speaker 1: Papa's got COVID. That's my dad. Anyway, we're talking about spice. Yo,
- 33:48Speaker 1: help me understand something because something that I had zero
- 33:52Speaker 1: well now I wouldn't say zero clue about, but after
- 33:56Speaker 1: I moved to La I guess I was lightly put
- 34:00Speaker 1: on my radar about like something I really didn't know
- 34:03Speaker 1: much about because I always would hear about our Mexicans
- 34:07Speaker 1: from from northern California and Mexicans from southern California and
- 34:10Speaker 1: this huge beef what's it Northan's And yeah, what is what? That's? Like?
- 34:19Speaker 1: Kind of break that down for me, man, because I'm
- 34:21Speaker 1: not very like I think a lot of people might
- 34:23Speaker 1: hear about that. But if they're watching this, this it's
- 34:25Speaker 1: pretty crazy, Like it's like a serious thing, right. I
- 34:28Speaker 1: just feel like, you know, everybody has their own side
- 34:30Speaker 1: where they grew up, you know what I'm saying. They
- 34:32Speaker 1: grew up in a certain part of California. We grew
- 34:35Speaker 1: up in a certain part of California, simple as that.
- 34:38Speaker 1: It's like no other way really to explain it is.
- 34:40Speaker 1: So if a Northern California Mexican gets locked up in
- 34:43Speaker 1: southern California, do they have to go to like PC
- 34:45Speaker 1: yard or are they or is it bad for them?
- 34:49Speaker 1: It's like it's like every everything else, you know what
- 34:52Speaker 1: I'm saying. It's like when you get put in a
- 34:54Speaker 1: position where you can't do anything about what you're going.
- 34:58Speaker 1: I'm sure that the stop officers that make their calls
- 35:01Speaker 1: on whatever, they you know what I'm saying, whatever they
- 35:03Speaker 1: choose to decide, they know where people belong and where
- 35:05Speaker 1: they don't, you know what I mean. That's crazy. And
- 35:09Speaker 1: do those politics spill outside of prison? Bro? I'mna be
- 35:15Speaker 1: honest with you, there's so much like stuff that has
- 35:19Speaker 1: changed over the years that I haven't been in the
- 35:20Speaker 1: system to kind of understand with the latest answer to
- 35:23Speaker 1: that like that, you know what I mean. Like it's
- 35:25Speaker 1: just it's a life of you know, constant, constant moving
- 35:30Speaker 1: and you know what i mean, just like I said earlier,
- 35:31Speaker 1: just got to roll with the punches and whatever's going
- 35:35Speaker 1: on is what's going on, you know what i mean?
- 35:36Speaker 1: It's like we just adapt basically. You know, right, when
- 35:41Speaker 1: did you first start getting the tattoo in your face?
- 35:44Speaker 1: In your head? Man? Because some of these tattoos look
- 35:47Speaker 1: do some of them look very very old? Right? Right?
- 35:49Speaker 1: I was when I first got I had got a
- 35:53Speaker 1: F thirteen on my chin when I was like, right
- 35:55Speaker 1: before I went to juvenile Hall, I was about thirteen
- 35:58Speaker 1: years old. I put a F thirteen with a LA
- 36:00Speaker 1: on top of my chin. I had that I was.
- 36:04Speaker 1: I went to that before I started tattooing, like my
- 36:06Speaker 1: whole body, like I still had some tatto on my body,
- 36:09Speaker 1: but I went to the face like right away. And
- 36:14Speaker 1: my my grandma, she was like, oh, she seemed that.
- 36:17Speaker 1: When I was younger, I used to go stop by
- 36:18Speaker 1: this this jewelry store and always look at this chain
- 36:21Speaker 1: that I liked. You know, I would just go look
- 36:23Speaker 1: at it ask him to try it on. I didn't
- 36:25Speaker 1: have no money, but I would still go look at
- 36:27Speaker 1: it and let me see that chain and try it
- 36:29Speaker 1: on and they'll put it back. They knew damn well
- 36:31Speaker 1: that I'd have no money. They were like, he's just
- 36:33Speaker 1: here looking at the damn chain. So she came up
- 36:35Speaker 1: one day and told me, Look, if you take off
- 36:38Speaker 1: that tattoo on your chin, I'll get you that chain.
- 36:41Speaker 1: So I was like all right, but I still didn't
- 36:44Speaker 1: even think about it until, you know, being in the
- 36:46Speaker 1: system before I got I came home one of the
- 36:49Speaker 1: times I had a court order for them to take
- 36:52Speaker 1: it off, and I had to go through Homeboys Indus
- 36:54Speaker 1: Street to where they were gonna excuse me, erase, well,
- 36:57Speaker 1: you know yeah, and you know, I reached out to
- 37:02Speaker 1: my grandma and I told her, Hey, I'm going to
- 37:04Speaker 1: take it off then so I could get that chain.
- 37:06Speaker 1: But I really had to take it off, like you know.
- 37:09Speaker 1: So she bought me the chain, I got the laser
- 37:12Speaker 1: tattoo removal, and then I started getting more tattoos on
- 37:15Speaker 1: my face and then she was like you worked me basically,
- 37:18Speaker 1: like She's like I told her, I you told me
- 37:21Speaker 1: just to take off that tattoo, and I couldn't. I
- 37:24Speaker 1: can't get some more. So you know, it turned out
- 37:27Speaker 1: like that. After that, she was just like she wasn't
- 37:29Speaker 1: trusting me no more when it came to that shit.
- 37:31Speaker 1: You know, She's like now, but yeah, like I started
- 37:34Speaker 1: young with the tattoos on my face thirteen fourteen years
- 37:37Speaker 1: old was there. I mean, when you have tattoos like
- 37:40Speaker 1: you have, I'm assuming that there's some that you regret.
- 37:42Speaker 1: Is there any tattoo that comes to mind that you
- 37:44Speaker 1: regret more than others? Maybe like female names and shit
- 37:47Speaker 1: over the years being young and dumb and you know
- 37:50Speaker 1: what I'm saying, in the heat of the moment where
- 37:52Speaker 1: you're like, go get your name tattooed tomorrow, right, you
- 37:55Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. So but now it's like I
- 37:58Speaker 1: just I just plastered over those moment fuckers now like
- 38:00Speaker 1: ain't no, ain't no, biggie. I feel like, what's dope
- 38:03Speaker 1: about like your your appearance is First of all, people
- 38:07Speaker 1: are intrigued. I think when they see you, like who's that, right,
- 38:11Speaker 1: Like who's the guy? And then they hear the music
- 38:13Speaker 1: They're like, oh shit right? And then I also feel
- 38:16Speaker 1: like you could be in any fucking movie, like so
- 38:19Speaker 1: many people have been telling me, Bro, you're missing out
- 38:21Speaker 1: on all kinds of acting bread like I started to
- 38:24Speaker 1: have when I first came home from prison. I started
- 38:27Speaker 1: doing the whole. I mean, you're gonna get type casted, right, No, yeah,
- 38:32Speaker 1: you're gonna be You're gonna be like the big homie
- 38:34Speaker 1: in the hood or they're always gonna choose me for
- 38:36Speaker 1: certain certain road. Sure, but the money's green. When I
- 38:40Speaker 1: first came home, it's like I didn't have a car,
- 38:42Speaker 1: so it was hard for me to get from point
- 38:43Speaker 1: A to point B. I was sharing with the girl
- 38:46Speaker 1: that I was with at the time, but she also
- 38:48Speaker 1: had to work, so it was like some days I
- 38:50Speaker 1: couldn't make it. Some things I could. So I think
- 38:52Speaker 1: the central casting kind of got tired of me pulling
- 38:55Speaker 1: up lad or Okay, So so you just you would
- 38:58Speaker 1: have hard times getting to like of locations and stuff like, well,
- 39:01Speaker 1: now it's it's different. You know, I got my own
- 39:03Speaker 1: stuff and it's like a lot easier. But maybe I
- 39:06Speaker 1: would have to reapply or something, you know what I mean.
- 39:08Speaker 1: But yeah, man, I just seen recently that a lot
- 39:11Speaker 1: of people started tagging me to this uh all Hell
- 39:14Speaker 1: the King. I guess it's a Disney movie that I
- 39:17Speaker 1: came out in. So they're like, damn, You're in a
- 39:19Speaker 1: Disney movie. You at the flood like, you know, people
- 39:20Speaker 1: tagging me. I'm like, oh shit, I didn't know. And
- 39:22Speaker 1: we did that like six years, seven years, and then
- 39:25Speaker 1: obviously Originals thing was dope. That was dope and missed
- 39:31Speaker 1: the cartoon like that was a dope. They definitely made
- 39:33Speaker 1: that happen, bro, You know, I was appreciative one hundred percent.
- 39:37Speaker 1: You uh, you know I told you when I first
- 39:40Speaker 1: kind of got put up onto you you had linked
- 39:41Speaker 1: with Yellow Wolf, Yeah, which is also kind of he's
- 39:45Speaker 1: heavily tattooed, but also kind of random. Right, you guys
- 39:48Speaker 1: ended up. I mean I think you've told the story before.
- 39:51Speaker 1: Essentially he came here, he was looking for a place
- 39:53Speaker 1: to shoot his show, came to your neighborhood. You guys connected, bonded,
- 39:58Speaker 1: ended up doing some music. Who are some other artists that,
- 40:02Speaker 1: like you would want to work with him? Some people
- 40:06Speaker 1: might not expect you be, like, you know, working with
- 40:08Speaker 1: because I think the Yellowolf thing is one of those. Yeah,
- 40:10Speaker 1: Yellowolf was definitely like a surprise to a lot of people.
- 40:14Speaker 1: And like I said, it was one of the artists
- 40:15Speaker 1: that I kind of you know, spoke into existence from
- 40:19Speaker 1: being incarcerated listening to him to where I told myself
- 40:21Speaker 1: I'm gonna come home and I want to do a
- 40:24Speaker 1: track with him, right, And it happened the same with
- 40:26Speaker 1: Crooked Eye, you know, shout out to Frank Nitty Homi,
- 40:28Speaker 1: Frank Nitty plugged us up and made that happen, you
- 40:31Speaker 1: know what I mean. We we had a nice little
- 40:35Speaker 1: session in the Gritty Arc studio and you know, got
- 40:38Speaker 1: to know crooked even before that, the fact that we
- 40:40Speaker 1: did the track prior, you know, times prior than that,
- 40:44Speaker 1: we would be in the studio vibing out and you know,
- 40:46Speaker 1: chopping it up and real cool people, solid and humble,
- 40:48Speaker 1: you know. Honestly, myself, I think I want to do
- 40:52Speaker 1: a track with fifty cent. I be insane only because
- 40:56Speaker 1: I listened to like his music. That's basically like a
- 41:00Speaker 1: lot of the music influence that I used to, you know,
- 41:03Speaker 1: listen to, and it's like I got out and a
- 41:05Speaker 1: lot of people like when I drop Hoogs or when
- 41:08Speaker 1: I drop certain songs that will be like that Cadence
- 41:11Speaker 1: reminds me of fifty that right, you know, and I'll
- 41:14Speaker 1: be like, maybe it's because I listened to them so much.
- 41:17Speaker 1: I don't know, you know, I'm creating my own music,
- 41:20Speaker 1: so it's like I don't feel like it sounds like
- 41:22Speaker 1: anybody in general. But then again, the fans and the
- 41:24Speaker 1: people that are listening are the ones that right, it's
- 41:27Speaker 1: their opinion, you know what I'm saying. You Also, I
- 41:30Speaker 1: heard a few of the records you did with Homiechris
- 41:32Speaker 1: Coke from Arizona. Oh yeah, I don't know when those
- 41:35Speaker 1: are going to come out, but they're crazy. Yeah. No, definitely,
- 41:37Speaker 1: he's amazing. He's a beast man. I gotta give it
- 41:40Speaker 1: to christ Lyrically, he's a fucking monster. One of my homies,
- 41:43Speaker 1: Mommy Scrappy, had tagged me to something that he, you know,
- 41:45Speaker 1: he was doing, and the scraper was like, man, check
- 41:47Speaker 1: this food out, my boy, he's dope. So I listened.
- 41:50Speaker 1: I'm like, damn, he is dope, you know. And for
- 41:52Speaker 1: me to come off of my not I don't want
- 41:54Speaker 1: to say like like my my high horse or anything,
- 41:58Speaker 1: but I feel like, you know, you got it was
- 42:01Speaker 1: a spot already to where it's like I don't have
- 42:03Speaker 1: to go listen to every single thing that people throw
- 42:06Speaker 1: at me. So it's like for me to come and
- 42:08Speaker 1: listen and actually feel like, oh, bro's dope, like it's
- 42:12Speaker 1: it was something to me, you know. So whenever that happens,
- 42:15Speaker 1: I usually hit my boy, my manager John and telling
- 42:17Speaker 1: them straight up like hey, find this dude for me,
- 42:20Speaker 1: you know, get at him. Let's work. We gotta pay
- 42:23Speaker 1: for the studio, they got it, whatever, whatever it is,
- 42:25Speaker 1: just let's figure it out. Let's make something happen. So
- 42:28Speaker 1: we reached out to him and he was like more
- 42:30Speaker 1: than happy to do it because he had already heard
- 42:32Speaker 1: of myself as well too. So he's like, you tell
- 42:35Speaker 1: me when, and he came out, yeah, book the studio.
- 42:39Speaker 1: It was dope, and I was like, oh, oh yeah, nice,
- 42:41Speaker 1: you know. So we made it happen, and we got
- 42:42Speaker 1: a couple tracks and we actually recorded like four songs
- 42:45Speaker 1: that night. Yeah, yeah, yeah, and I heard I think
- 42:47Speaker 1: I heard almost I think I heard all. Yeah. We
- 42:49Speaker 1: were like back to back with it. Oh it's good,
- 42:54Speaker 1: it's fine, it'll pick up. Oh oh on the camera. Okay, good,
- 42:59Speaker 1: there you go. I like that. That's why he's the manager.
- 43:04Speaker 1: So just right now, I feel like we're kind of
- 43:07Speaker 1: in the middle of like a renaissance of like Mexican rappers.
- 43:11Speaker 1: I feel like when I first got in the radio
- 43:13Speaker 1: and when I was growing up, it was like MC magic,
- 43:15Speaker 1: Little Rob, like obviously Baby Bash was doing this thing.
- 43:18Speaker 1: But I feel like right now there's so many dope
- 43:22Speaker 1: Mexican MC's artists that are just killing it on all levels.
- 43:28Speaker 1: You know. Snow, the product was just nominated for Latin Grammy.
- 43:32Speaker 1: You know, we can go up and down. I mean
- 43:34Speaker 1: LA is kind of the epicenter of like where a
- 43:35Speaker 1: lot of these young kids are really killing it in
- 43:37Speaker 1: Latin and the Latin hip hop scene, just in hip hop,
- 43:40Speaker 1: and they happen to be Mexican. How do you feel
- 43:43Speaker 1: about like the current state of like Mexican rappers? Man,
- 43:48Speaker 1: I love it, and you know, I respect the fact
- 43:50Speaker 1: that everybody's out there trying to get where they where
- 43:52Speaker 1: they feel they need to be, or people that are
- 43:54Speaker 1: just pushing and going for what you know what we've
- 43:57Speaker 1: never really been able to accomplish, which is opening that
- 44:02Speaker 1: door for you know, the Mexicans and for the Hispanics
- 44:04Speaker 1: and you know people that've been trying to do this
- 44:07Speaker 1: for us for years. You know, we've had episodes, you know,
- 44:09Speaker 1: kid Frouds like of course, yeah, you know what I'm saying.
- 44:12Speaker 1: The people that did get there, they're trying to shine,
- 44:15Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. But I feel like the
- 44:17Speaker 1: door wasn't completely kicked in for it. I Mean there
- 44:20Speaker 1: was always like one or two guys at a time.
- 44:21Speaker 1: But I feel like now, I mean I can think
- 44:23Speaker 1: of like twenty five dudes off the top of my head.
- 44:25Speaker 1: That's the difference now and then. I feel like social
- 44:27Speaker 1: media and everything else has brought that for a little
- 44:31Speaker 1: made it a little easier for us to be able to,
- 44:33Speaker 1: you know, show showcase what we got and learn from
- 44:38Speaker 1: each other. Which not everybody's gonna sit here and tell
- 44:41Speaker 1: you that they that they learn from each other. But
- 44:44Speaker 1: if I see a dope artist that I can learn from,
- 44:46Speaker 1: I'm definitely gonna soak up game. I'm definitely gonna appreciate
- 44:50Speaker 1: whatever he's putting out there. You know, everybody out here
- 44:53Speaker 1: got their chests out and think, oh I'm the biggest,
- 44:56Speaker 1: I'm the baddest, And that's why I don't fall into
- 44:58Speaker 1: that cat glory with my mind state. I stick to
- 45:02Speaker 1: what myself, my boy Peter built, which is JR for
- 45:06Speaker 1: my label. Like everybody that's from my label jokes, you know,
- 45:11Speaker 1: just just everybody that's on the team and on the squad.
- 45:15Speaker 1: I try to push them to push me, if that
- 45:18Speaker 1: makes sense, Like, you know, I'm trying to like at
- 45:21Speaker 1: the same time they're working on stuff. I tell them
- 45:24Speaker 1: don't get caught up with waiting on me, you know
- 45:27Speaker 1: what I mean. Keep doing what you're doing. Keep doing
- 45:30Speaker 1: what you're doing. You guys might pop before me. Who
- 45:33Speaker 1: knows shit. Then you're gonna have to bring me like
- 45:36Speaker 1: what I'm gonna bring you if I pop, Like, it's
- 45:38Speaker 1: just a it's a square, you know what I'm saying.
- 45:41Speaker 1: And at the end of the day, it's like, we
- 45:43Speaker 1: gotta cover every corner in that square. And that's how
- 45:47Speaker 1: I feel like it needs to be done. You know,
- 45:49Speaker 1: help each other. Help, Yeah, let's help, you know what
- 45:51Speaker 1: I mean. Tell me the story about when you were shot?
- 45:55Speaker 1: Was it five times by Ak? Yeah? Five times with AK.
- 45:57Speaker 1: I was eighteen years old, wrong place, wrong time type shit,
- 46:03Speaker 1: parked in a driveway and you know, two people came
- 46:08Speaker 1: up and sprayed up the whole car. Bro. We had
- 46:11Speaker 1: thirty six thirty six holes in the car. How many
- 46:14Speaker 1: people were in the car? Three of us? Anybody not
- 46:16Speaker 1: make it. I'm the only one that got hit. Oh shit,
- 46:19Speaker 1: So there was holes throughout that whole car. You know,
- 46:23Speaker 1: my brother was actually with us, My brother was in
- 46:25Speaker 1: another car and behind us or whatnot. It was. It
- 46:30Speaker 1: was tragic, bro, You know what I'm saying it was
- 46:31Speaker 1: something that you know, I relive every day because I'm
- 46:37Speaker 1: still dealing with pain. I'm still dealing with issues from
- 46:42Speaker 1: you know, they were caused from that. I got hit
- 46:45Speaker 1: two times in my back, two times in my side,
- 46:47Speaker 1: and one time in my arm. I'm missing a kidney,
- 46:50Speaker 1: a spleen, half a liver, half a pancreas. Both my
- 46:55Speaker 1: lungs collapsed. My ajorda was torn completely. They had to reconstructed.
- 47:03Speaker 1: I was in a coma for a month and a half.
- 47:05Speaker 1: It was insane. My mom would be by my bed side,
- 47:08Speaker 1: the girls that I was messing with at the time
- 47:10Speaker 1: were by my bad side, like the my homies would
- 47:13Speaker 1: all pull up. Like at one point, the doctor came
- 47:16Speaker 1: out with my bed after the first surgery and seeing
- 47:19Speaker 1: three hundred people there and couldn't believe that there was
- 47:22Speaker 1: three hundred people even in the hospital, right, He's like,
- 47:25Speaker 1: all of you guys are here for bed one and
- 47:27Speaker 1: they're like yeah. He was like wow. He's like, well,
- 47:30Speaker 1: let me tell you excite something. He wants to live.
- 47:32Speaker 1: He's fighting. So the first surgery he's like, but I
- 47:35Speaker 1: can't promise you the second surgery is gonna go The
- 47:38Speaker 1: same when I came out of the second surgery. He
- 47:40Speaker 1: told my homies he's here, he's gonna stay, and they
- 47:44Speaker 1: went crazy. They want to go barbecue and do all
- 47:47Speaker 1: kinds of city. They want to be a party. You know,
- 47:49Speaker 1: Was that the only time you were shot? Yeah, that
- 47:50Speaker 1: was the only time. That was more than enough. That
- 47:53Speaker 1: was more than enough, right that some real shit enough
- 47:57Speaker 1: damn yeah? Yeah, and then yeah they Uh so, I
- 48:02Speaker 1: had these bunch of different, you know, little machines tag
- 48:07Speaker 1: to me, and one of the nurses came into the
- 48:11Speaker 1: to the room where I was at and I couldn't
- 48:14Speaker 1: talk cause I had a tube like you know, in
- 48:16Speaker 1: my throat, at my side of my right here, like underarm,
- 48:21Speaker 1: just tubes everywhere basically, and I couldn't really speak. I
- 48:24Speaker 1: couldn't speak at all. The lady came in and was like, oh,
- 48:27Speaker 1: I'm gonna take you off of these machines. I'm gonna
- 48:29Speaker 1: try to walk you. And I had just got shot
- 48:31Speaker 1: like a week and a half before, so I was
- 48:33Speaker 1: like walk me like. I was looking at her like no,
- 48:36Speaker 1: Like the only thing I could do was kind of,
- 48:39Speaker 1: you know, shake my head kind of get her to
- 48:41Speaker 1: understand that I'm not ready to walk. She's like, oh,
- 48:45Speaker 1: you're fine, She's unplugging all the shit, and I'm like
- 48:48Speaker 1: like no, like you know what I'm saying in my head.
- 48:50Speaker 1: I was screaming, but I couldn't say nothing. So she
- 48:54Speaker 1: took me off of the bed, sat me up, and
- 48:56Speaker 1: I guess when she sat me up, an air bubble
- 48:59Speaker 1: rope or like right rose to my to my brain.
- 49:04Speaker 1: So I passed out. I passed out when she did
- 49:07Speaker 1: that because I didn't I didn't know what was going on,
- 49:09Speaker 1: but the air bubble rose to my brain and it
- 49:13Speaker 1: caused something up there to where it made me pass out.
- 49:17Speaker 1: The doctors came and tried to get me back. They couldn't.
- 49:20Speaker 1: Then the doctor finally got me back with something sauce
- 49:23Speaker 1: and stuff. So when I woke up, he's like, move
- 49:26Speaker 1: your right hand. So you know, I moved my right hand.
- 49:29Speaker 1: He's like, move your right legs. I moved my right
- 49:31Speaker 1: leg and he's like, move your left hand. And I
- 49:33Speaker 1: tried and nothing would move. Move your left leg. It
- 49:36Speaker 1: wouldn't move either. It was parallel. It was paralyzed from
- 49:38Speaker 1: half of my half of my body. So they had
- 49:42Speaker 1: to take me to Long Beach Memorial Hospital. And they
- 49:44Speaker 1: put me in a diver's tank. Wow, which I guess
- 49:47Speaker 1: the divers when they dive too deep they get those
- 49:49Speaker 1: air bubbles over their brains. So they deal they deal
- 49:51Speaker 1: with the same stuff in a different form. So they
- 49:54Speaker 1: put me in a diver's tank to where it was
- 49:56Speaker 1: like at an angle. My feet were towards the ground,
- 49:58Speaker 1: my face was like up here. They put I still
- 50:03Speaker 1: remember they put on a movie. They brought like a
- 50:05Speaker 1: little sliding screen with a movie and uh, they put
- 50:08Speaker 1: on something about Mary. Remember they still put that movie on,
- 50:12Speaker 1: and then like within three minutes to four minutes, I
- 50:15Speaker 1: was out. So I guess they gased that like tank.
- 50:18Speaker 1: You know, they put you to sleep, so put me
- 50:20Speaker 1: to sleep, and then I guess they turn up the
- 50:22Speaker 1: pressure while you're sleeping. They brought me out, and he's like,
- 50:25Speaker 1: move your right hand. I moved it right, legg moved it.
- 50:27Speaker 1: Movie left it with him. Budge. He's like thrown back in.
- 50:31Speaker 1: So they put me back in there. I don't know.
- 50:33Speaker 1: I don't know how long I'm staying in there again.
- 50:35Speaker 1: But they put the same movie back on, turn the
- 50:38Speaker 1: gases on or whatever. And when they finally pulled me out,
- 50:41Speaker 1: he's like move your left hand. I was able to
- 50:44Speaker 1: move my left hand and to cray for sure. For sir,
- 50:48Speaker 1: I had one of the top fifty doctors in the world.
- 50:50Speaker 1: His name was doctor Essencio. He's from Brazil. Wow, he
- 50:53Speaker 1: was at USC hospital. He definitely is blessing. And you know,
- 50:56Speaker 1: if I ever had the chance to show my appreciation,
- 50:59Speaker 1: that would. Man, you know what I'm saying, And this
- 51:01Speaker 1: is definitely a blessing. I have been under his yeah,
- 51:03Speaker 1: because you know, if you don't have the right doctor,
- 51:05Speaker 1: they might have just been like, oh, you're fucked. That
- 51:07Speaker 1: was what they were saying when I was walking in
- 51:09Speaker 1: there like this one's done, and that doctor was like, nah,
- 51:11Speaker 1: bring him to me. He was just there doing like
- 51:14Speaker 1: a study or a seminar. That's the stars of aligning. Man,
- 51:18Speaker 1: one of the top fifty in the world. Bro, that's big.
- 51:20Speaker 1: That's big. Outside of you getting shot obviously when you're eighteen,
- 51:25Speaker 1: what's the closest brush with a serious life and death
- 51:29Speaker 1: situation you had while being incarcerated? Man, I feel like
- 51:35Speaker 1: every day is just a brush with being close to
- 51:39Speaker 1: life and death. Because they could switch from all smiles
- 51:43Speaker 1: to you know, place being on fire, like from one
- 51:46Speaker 1: second to the next. You don't know what's gonna take place.
- 51:49Speaker 1: I've seen people go in with violations of seven months
- 51:52Speaker 1: and then end up with, you know, the rest of
- 51:55Speaker 1: their life having to be incarcerated because happened in jail.
- 51:59Speaker 1: Anything can happen at any time. Just never let your
- 52:02Speaker 1: guard down and just you know, is it hard to
- 52:04Speaker 1: let go of that mentality? Oh? Very very I feel
- 52:09Speaker 1: like you gotta want something bad enough to be able
- 52:14Speaker 1: to and it's never gonna go away, you know what
- 52:17Speaker 1: I'm saying, It's never gonna go at the end of
- 52:18Speaker 1: the day. It's like your mentality is there still now,
- 52:22Speaker 1: whether you choose to like mess with the volcano or
- 52:25Speaker 1: just leave it alone. That's where that's where all of
- 52:29Speaker 1: this falls in place. Like you know, I'm doing music,
- 52:32Speaker 1: I left all the you know, the untampered with, Like
- 52:37Speaker 1: I just kind of just don't mess with it and
- 52:39Speaker 1: just keep you know, keep my cool and respectful and
- 52:42Speaker 1: still go about things the way that I know that
- 52:45Speaker 1: I should be going about things, you know what I mean,
- 52:48Speaker 1: Like certain stuff that even on podcasts like this, that
- 52:52Speaker 1: I'm not gonna sit here and talk about, you know
- 52:53Speaker 1: what I'm saying. At the end of the day, it's
- 52:55Speaker 1: like it's all respect, but there are certain subjects I
- 52:58Speaker 1: won't touch, and then there's certain subjects that, yeah, we
- 53:00Speaker 1: could talk about because it's something that already happened, its
- 53:02Speaker 1: events in my life. Of course. You feel what I'm saying.
- 53:05Speaker 1: With your new album, we're gonna have your manager come
- 53:08Speaker 1: in and kind of give us a little breakdown of
- 53:10Speaker 1: some of the business stuff you guys are going on. Becau,
- 53:11Speaker 1: it's pretty impressive. I'm gonna take a piss break, yeah,
- 53:15Speaker 1: and then we'll come back and we'll have your manager
- 53:17Speaker 1: hop on. Hey, we gotta stuff the podcast, man, real quick.

- 54:40Speaker 1: your guy right here. So this this is my boy John,
- 54:43Speaker 1: you know, my manager's last business partner. So is this
- 54:47Speaker 1: the label you guys have tatted on? There? Is that
- 54:49Speaker 1: your your your guys created effort. It's it's effort effort.
- 54:55Speaker 1: We just put the X in the middle because you know,
- 54:57Speaker 1: at the same time it's f fort, you know, so
- 55:00Speaker 1: it's still like to the past. You know, it's the
- 55:04Speaker 1: f fort. I can dig it, I can dig it.
- 55:07Speaker 1: How'd you guys meet prison prison? Yeah, so you guys
- 55:11Speaker 1: were locked up together two thousand and two. We we,
- 55:16Speaker 1: you know, met each other. We were two of the
- 55:17Speaker 1: youngest kids on that yard that we were at and
- 55:22Speaker 1: just kind of clicked. We had a like a boom
- 55:26Speaker 1: box in there with two tape cassettes, so somebody had
- 55:30Speaker 1: rigged it up to where the ox plug was a
- 55:32Speaker 1: microphone in there, so you would put like an instrumental
- 55:36Speaker 1: on this side, a blank tape that you wanted to
- 55:38Speaker 1: record over on this side, play them and then wrap
- 55:41Speaker 1: into the box plug. And we have tapes like we
- 55:44Speaker 1: would make tapes in there. So we're making tapes and
- 55:46Speaker 1: sending them out to the streets. He came, he went
- 55:51Speaker 1: home before me. I started a few years left when
- 55:52Speaker 1: he went home. I had. He went home in O
- 55:54Speaker 1: five and I started like three or four years left.
- 55:57Speaker 1: When I came home, he had got caught up the FEDS, So,
- 56:01Speaker 1: you know, I'm hitting up his grandma and she's like,
- 56:03Speaker 1: he's busted again. So since I since I came home,
- 56:06Speaker 1: I was trying to like link back up with him,
- 56:08Speaker 1: and he had, you know, the FED case going on.
- 56:10Speaker 1: So finally in twenty thirteen twelve or thirteen, two thousand,
- 56:16Speaker 1: two thousand and thirteen, I came home and Uh, I
- 56:21Speaker 1: was cutting hair for a studio. So I was cutting
- 56:23Speaker 1: hair for a studio. Like I was just here's some
- 56:27Speaker 1: video studios, so they would do music videos, commercials. Barbara
- 56:31Speaker 1: I was yeah, yeah, yeah, So by trade, I was
- 56:33Speaker 1: a barber. So I was cutting hair and the studio
- 56:35Speaker 1: I worked for had actually done one of his videos.
- 56:38Speaker 1: So he's showing me like all the past projects that
- 56:41Speaker 1: he's done. I was like, that's my boy, Like, can
- 56:44Speaker 1: we get a hold of him, So went to the channels.
- 56:46Speaker 1: He's in the FEDS again, So I'm doing a violation.
- 56:50Speaker 1: So one day the studio hits me up to come
- 56:54Speaker 1: help him with the with the video. I pull up
- 56:55Speaker 1: and he's there. He just came home maybe a week
- 56:58Speaker 1: or two before. Literally the next day I went and
- 57:01Speaker 1: met up with him, and for the next three years,
- 57:05Speaker 1: probably four years, I saw him every single day, like
- 57:08Speaker 1: we're together every single day, moving around doing this music.
- 57:11Speaker 1: Ten days after we link back up again, I quit
- 57:14Speaker 1: cutting hair at the barbershop I was at, and we
- 57:17Speaker 1: started running with this wow, and we've been Yeah, we've
- 57:21Speaker 1: been doing that since. How many years has this been since?
- 57:23Speaker 1: You guys? Usually two thousand and six, fifteen or sixteen
- 57:28Speaker 1: sixteen is when we started started running. So I came
- 57:32Speaker 1: home in thirteen and he was still back and forth
- 57:35Speaker 1: doing his violations. So a few years after I came
- 57:38Speaker 1: home is when we finally linked back up and we've
- 57:41Speaker 1: been we've been running since. So you guys have the
- 57:44Speaker 1: new album coming out, which is what's dope about it
- 57:47Speaker 1: is you guys aren't putting it straight to the the streaming platforms. Yeah. Now,
- 57:51Speaker 1: we did that with the with the Plant with the
- 57:53Speaker 1: Plan B album. That was kind of our first getting
- 57:57Speaker 1: our feet wet into doing something ourselves, was like, instead
- 58:00Speaker 1: of just recording the music and letting somebody else figure
- 58:04Speaker 1: So we had to figure that album out from beginning
- 58:06Speaker 1: to end. So we we we did that. It got it.
- 58:09Speaker 1: You know, good reception kind of opened a few more doors,
- 58:13Speaker 1: but we did see that that, you know, with the
- 58:17Speaker 1: kind of music that we have in the project that
- 58:19Speaker 1: we're coming out with, streaming right away is not going
- 58:22Speaker 1: to be our best way. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I mean, listen,
- 58:26Speaker 1: at the end of the day, you're doing this to
- 58:28Speaker 1: try to support you the fan base, the core fan
- 58:31Speaker 1: base that we have is strong. So also we're thinking
- 58:35Speaker 1: that more as something for those people that have been
- 58:37Speaker 1: here supporting, they're going to get these these this physical
- 58:42Speaker 1: package that we're putting. So what is the physical package?
- 58:44Speaker 1: So what's the name of the album? Give me the whole?
- 58:46Speaker 1: There's no official name of the album. It's a double album.
- 58:48Speaker 1: Actually is I'm the name of the Face of l A.
- 58:52Speaker 1: That's kind of what we're what we're you know, so
- 58:56Speaker 1: also makes sense that's your I G you know, so
- 58:59Speaker 1: I want to name it that just some you know,
- 59:03Speaker 1: I feel like, you know, I'm not only It's not
- 59:06Speaker 1: only me, it's the face of LA. It's like all
- 59:08Speaker 1: of us are the face of LA. We're from here,
- 59:10Speaker 1: you know what I mean. We all represent the same
- 59:12Speaker 1: thing and trying to shoot for the same direction. So
- 59:15Speaker 1: it's like all of us are in this together, you
- 59:17Speaker 1: know what I mean. And I'm gonna make sure this
- 59:19Speaker 1: album speaks to everybody and for everybody. Like the way
- 59:22Speaker 1: that people you know, relate to each other in certain situations,
- 59:27Speaker 1: you know, A huge, a huge part of the music
- 59:29Speaker 1: industry in LA has always been built around artists either
- 59:34Speaker 1: speaking about the street life or in rare cases, an
- 59:38Speaker 1: artists actually beaten from the street. Like it's mostly you know,
- 59:41Speaker 1: an artists that grew up around there that's kind of
- 59:42Speaker 1: telling the stories that they've seen and then they kind
- 59:45Speaker 1: of morphed into that image of you know, he's a
- 59:47Speaker 1: street dude. We're kind of you know, the face of
- 59:51Speaker 1: LA is what we've been pushing because everything that the
- 59:55Speaker 1: entertainment as far as music has been based around and
- 59:57Speaker 1: even but he was like LA is shown as like,
- 59:59Speaker 1: you know, street culture, gang culture. That's what draws people
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: to to LA outside of Hollywood, and for somebody to
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: be actually from that environment, grew up in that environment,
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: it's actually you know, certified from that. And to be
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: able to come out of that and try to try
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: to showcase and tell his stories in an art front
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: of music, it's kind of like coming full full circle
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: to where now we have an actual representative, you know,
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: kind of like a Nipsey. Nipsey was was did it
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: the street way, and he was a street dude, and
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: there's not a lot of those in this industry that
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: we're in that we're learning as we've got more and
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: more into this industry, so you know, it's just kind
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: of a representation of of the l A people. Like
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: like all of our friends, even if they're not from gangs,
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: they're there. If they're hanging out with us, they look
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: like us, and they're gonna be assumed to be part
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: of what we're a part of. That's just like the
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: hip culture in la is to look like like a
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: street dude, and it has been like that since the nineties.
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: The style may have changed, but the the intention is
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: still there. Like the intention, you know, what's cool is
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: to look like, you know, like you're from the streets,
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: whether you are or or not. And for us being
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: street dudes, we want to look like we're not from this.
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: I mean, we we're tatted up, but we're trying to
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: trying to we're trying to break out of that. So
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: it's just been a learning experience, and especially as two
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: dudes that had no you know, music experience. I mean,
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: the fact that you're able to go from being a
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: barber to straight to this and even even me going
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: to be a barber was a huge thing for me
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: because I never because that's legit money. Yeah, it's legit money.
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: I've never done anything like that, so it was It's
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: definitely been a learning experience. I feel like like if
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: we had a little more knowledge, we could, you know,
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: maybe done things a little bit quicker. But I'm happy
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: with the growth that we've had because it's been organic
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: and right. It's a learning process, you know for people
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: who don't know what's the Like, there's a package coming out,
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: is this is it on February first? We're so we're
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: doing April first, April Fool's day. Man, make these explain
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: how people are gonna be able to purchase the album
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: and the form that it's going to come in, So
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: you want to go ahead. I just was going to say,
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: you know, we're doing it on April first, you know,
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: because a lot of people joke around with that date
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: and you know, take everything as a joke. So we're
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: coming strong and we want to make sure that we
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: see that we ain't joking. Ye, we ain't playing with
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: this album. You've heard a few a few tracks on it. So,
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: as we talked about before, he got hit five times
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: with an AK So we're going to do a physical
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: album package that the album is going to be on
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: USB's and the USBs are going to be shaped like
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: a K bullets. It's going to come in an amimal box.
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: We're also printing out laser printing bill that's the action figures.
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: So the package is gonna come with the album, the
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: action figures, and Uh, we've been uh in partnership with
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: a hemp wrapp company called Billionaire Hemper Apps for the
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: last two years. We've been developing a product, the product
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: that we showed you. So we're gonna have two flavors
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: of hemp wraps tobacco free hemp praps with his face
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: our label branded on him. They're all going to be
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: dropping on the same day as the album. So when
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: you get this package, you'll get the box with the
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: with the AK forty seven bullet USB's, you'll get the
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: action figure, and you'll get some of the Hemp wraps.
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: So I say, it's kind of for our core fan
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: base that's been rocking with us. Give them something that
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: they can purchase and have that's not going to be
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: the same thing that everybody else has before we let
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: the album stream. That's smart Mans And then UH, there's
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: a cookbook, a jail cookbook you're working on. Yeah, we
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: wanted to make a prison cookbook, like a thousand or
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: one hundred ways to make a top ramen, because there's
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: so many top yes inspired pretty much cuisine. Prison cuisine
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: is all based around a top ramen. Yeah, so what
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: you can do with the top ramen? Adding to it,
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: make it spread, make a sandwich, whatever. Okay, give me
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: the If let's say you're in prison, what's your number
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: one meal you could cook up. If let's say let's
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: say you could cook a meal for somebody from the
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: outside the coming to visit, what would be that one?
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: I mean the cookbook that you're like, this is fire. Well,
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: if it ain't a spread, of course, because there's plenty
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: of different ways to make spreads, I'd say a manwich.
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: They're called manwiches, swear. You take the soup, you leave
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: the soup where it's in the package, You put hot
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: water in there, let it sit for a little bit,
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: pour out the hot water, so you still got the
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: whole noodle that opens up basically like a book, and
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: you put that on the bread. You know, there's certain
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: ways you make the beans. You spread the beans across it.
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: You know, you could use little pieces of pepperoni, cut
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: little slices of pickle, you know, whatever little ingredients that
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: you put a little bit of the seasoning pack and
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: you know, you put it together with pork rinds and
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: stuff like that, and then you get a big old
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: monster sandwich that tastes like it's from Tommy's. Wow. Wait,
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: so I still eat them. So there's noodle was inside
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: of the bread, so it's bread noodles, But the doodles
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: is just in the brick like how it comes to square.
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: It's just loosened up, a little loosened up a little
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: bit from just cook like that, you know, but it's
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: still in. There's a lot of carbs, man, that is
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: you know that. I'm not saying it's a healthy boy,
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: but that's something that you guys still make, still make them. Yes, yeah,
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: I made one the other day. I want to say,
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: like a week ago, I made one of the girl
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: why do you still? Even my homie just came home
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: a year ago. He's like, why do you eat this? Ship?
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: Like he's good, you can't take over the years. I'd
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: always have people like you're making that, you're just jinxing yourself.
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: And I'm like why Because I'm eating a soup, Like,
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: what the hell do they gotta do? I'm not out
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: her cousin. I think you should do a YouTube channel man, instead,
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: I mean do the cookbook, but the YouTube channel. If
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: you do, like to show the recipe a week, man,
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: that shit will go crazy. Trust me, the YouTube money
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: serious man. Right, that's a good idea because because people
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: unfortunately people don't. I don't think people go to cookbooks anymore, right,
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: download or something. Well, they get everything online. I mean honestly,
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: they just go on YouTube. Now that's true. So if
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: you if you on YouTube the other day, exactly, if
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: you started a YouTube channel where you were just creating content,
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: doing recipes, bro, that ship would go crazy. And then
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: you have special guests come on. Well maybe artists who
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: have been in jail or artists that haven't. But just
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: if you've got a relationship with Crooked Eye or whoever,
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: have them come on and everybody does a different you know,
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: you make them, you make them something and then they
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: they taste tested on camera. That should have go crazy
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: for sure. That's a good idea. Yeah, then you might
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: fucking end up on Vice. But I'm saying like you
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: might get your own show on vice for real, like
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: that'd be crazy. And then if it goes super crazy,
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: start a fucking restaurant. You got a kitchen, start a
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: little corner, man. I'm telling you bro right now. The
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: cookbook is cool because you know you I mean I
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: would just do a living to in that, but to
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: really maximize like that, like a coffee table book, just
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: you're you gotta you gotta do the video content. You
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: gotta do it the right way. You can't do it
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: where it looks all half assed and Bria and ship. Yeah,
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: that'd be big, honestly, sure, Yeah idea. Definitely gonna keep
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: that in consideration. Yeah, run that up all right. So
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: April first, the album's coming out. Uh, when are you
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: guys going to a pre order for it? Because I'm
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: assuming to get that much stuff made is probably uh
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: the production is. It's do you want to get an
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: idea on like how many you need to get made?
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: Or you gotta know we've kind of got all that
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: that worked out. We're gonna do a very limited run.
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: It's probably gonna total maybe a thousand pieces, a thousand
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: pieces and how muchything will be numbering album. It's probab
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: going to be one hundred and fifty bucks for that package.
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: It's not bad. Hundred fifty bucks a thousand of them.
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: You got one hundred fifty bands. Yeah, just those collector
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: those collector action finish loan bro like those are those
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: are and we're putting money into this, like those things
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: aren't cheap. Yeah, it's not like you guys. Yeah yeah, yeah,
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: because it's not like you're we're not. We're not. Yeah.
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: The over the overhead on what you guys are making
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: isn't isn't. Yeah, we're not. We're not spending charging Yeah. Yeah,
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: we're to make it the collectors and that's that's dope collected.
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: You know. Well, ship Man April first, is there a
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: website or obviously your your i G all that like
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: we're the best place to so his i G is
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: always going to be the best because that's where he's at. Mostly.
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: We do have a website. While that the Beast dot com.
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: That's probably gonna be switching over to uh when we
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: do the album, it will probably just be like an
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: effort web page. Uh, we'll have a link though exactly
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: where to go to. We probably will have pre sales
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: just because we're getting finished with with everything that we
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: need finished to have the stuff to start type. Yeah. Yeah,
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: that's more of what we've been waiting on to to
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: even put any pre orders out because I don't have
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: the I don't have the action figures in my hand yet.
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: So once we have everything then then we can put
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: out a presale link. I think there it is. Well, look,
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: go support. Appreciate you pulling up man, Thank you brother.
