- 0:10Speaker 1: Hello, welcome back to the NFL Weekly Preview Show. I
- 0:13Speaker 1: am Jeff Mosher. Of course, this comes to you courtesy
- 0:16Speaker 1: of the Inside the Birds Network. And what I do
- 0:19Speaker 1: every weekend is preview all the matchups. We do a
- 0:22Speaker 1: little recap of the Thursday night game, and then we
- 0:24Speaker 1: go ahead and preview the Sunday slate, Monday games. Later
- 0:29Speaker 1: in the season, there'll be all sorts of games on
- 0:31Speaker 1: all sorts of days. And then at the end, I'll
- 0:34Speaker 1: give you my three picks with the spread of I went,
- 0:36Speaker 1: I believe, 1-2 last week, better than 0-3. Last year
- 0:40Speaker 1: I was abysmal, trying to do better this week. You'll
- 0:43Speaker 1: notice week one there was a theme, and the theme
- 0:46Speaker 1: was a little bit twofold. One, a lot of teams
- 0:50Speaker 1: struggling to play defense. There were a lot of high scores,
- 0:54Speaker 1: and you're going to see that. This is the NFL
- 0:56Speaker 1: now in the first month of the season. It's not everybody.
- 0:59Speaker 1: The Seahawks still played good defense, and they have a
- 1:01Speaker 1: very good defensive team, but for the most part, You
- 1:04Speaker 1: saw a lot of defenses just not live up to
- 1:07Speaker 1: their billing. And then that folded into a lot of
- 1:11Speaker 1: really good teams who were either playoff teams or conference
- 1:14Speaker 1: championship teams last year had major, major letdowns. We talked
- 1:20Speaker 1: last week about the Rams getting destroyed by the 49ers
- 1:24Speaker 1: in Australia. You know, obviously the Broncos got their teeth
- 1:28Speaker 1: kicked in by the Chiefs, the Patriots. We talked about
- 1:32Speaker 1: losing to the, Seattle Seahawks in the season opener. So
- 1:36Speaker 1: you're talking about three teams in the conference championship. Three
- 1:39Speaker 1: of the four teams in the conference championship that lost
- 1:43Speaker 1: week one and looked bad in losing. And there were
- 1:46Speaker 1: some other teams that really, really struggled to play defense.
- 1:51Speaker 1: And now you've got the Thursday night game that just played.
- 1:55Speaker 1: The Bills beat the Lions 41-31. The Bills have already
- 2:00Speaker 1: offed through a very good start. 2-0. They got a
- 2:04Speaker 1: victory over Houston, which had been a bugaboo for Josh
- 2:06Speaker 1: Allen playing the Texans. He went down, led them to
- 2:10Speaker 1: a win there. They come home where they're very tough.
- 2:13Speaker 1: They are very tough to beat in Buffalo, and the
- 2:16Speaker 1: Lions found that out. Lions were constantly playing from behind,
- 2:20Speaker 1: even with their high-powered offense, and the Bills pull out
- 2:22Speaker 1: the 41-31 win. The Lions are another team. They are
- 2:28Speaker 1: bad defensively, and they are not going to get better
- 2:32Speaker 1: until they get healthier, until they get their two safeties back,
- 2:37Speaker 1: Branch and Joseph. Those guys are more than just safeties
- 2:41Speaker 1: in the Lions' defense. They do a whole lot of things.
- 2:43Speaker 1: They control the back end, especially Branch. He's such a
- 2:46Speaker 1: valuable player for them. Then they went and lost Devontae
- 2:49Speaker 1: Maddox to an injury. They are really banged up in
- 2:54Speaker 1: the secondary. They started the year that way. It's hurting them.
- 2:57Speaker 1: They're all pro linebacker, played terribly. They just had no
- 3:00Speaker 1: answers for what the Bills were doing. And they are
- 3:03Speaker 1: going to have to outscore opponents from week to week
- 3:08Speaker 1: until they get healthier on defense. And that's going to
- 3:12Speaker 1: be a couple of weeks. They have the firepower to
- 3:14Speaker 1: do it, but defensively it's just going to be an
- 3:19Speaker 1: albatross for them to overcome each week. So, you know,
- 3:25Speaker 1: you saw week one. They had a big lead over
- 3:28Speaker 1: the Saints, and then it's– well, they had a lead
- 3:30Speaker 1: over the Saints– And it looked like they were going
- 3:32Speaker 1: to go into cruise control. And then the Saints came
- 3:34Speaker 1: back and made it a game before the Lions pulled
- 3:38Speaker 1: it out. So their defense is a wreck. And offensively,
- 3:42Speaker 1: even though they're scoring a lot of points, they are
- 3:45Speaker 1: struggling up front. They have injuries at center, on the
- 3:49Speaker 1: interior line. They move their all-pro right tackle, Sewell, the
- 3:52Speaker 1: left tackle. He is struggling there. And back on the defense, they,
- 3:57Speaker 1: to me– I like the lions a lot. And I
- 3:59Speaker 1: think as the season goes on, I suspect as they
- 4:03Speaker 1: get healthier, they'll get better, but they really don't have
- 4:06Speaker 1: another pass rusher that you're afraid of outside of Aiden Hutchinson.
- 4:10Speaker 1: And he's great. Had a sack early in the game
- 4:13Speaker 1: against Buffalo, but they just don't have another guy that
- 4:18Speaker 1: the other team puts on a circle and says, well,
- 4:20Speaker 1: not only do we have to worry about Hutchinson, but
- 4:23Speaker 1: if we double team him, we got to worry about
- 4:25Speaker 1: this guy one-on-one. They just don't have that. in the
- 4:28Speaker 1: pass rush. So for the Lions, it's going to be
- 4:30Speaker 1: very important for them to score a lot of points.
- 4:33Speaker 1: They've got the firepower to do it. You hope that
- 4:35Speaker 1: their offensive line issues, they, they get healthier, but they're
- 4:39Speaker 1: playing in the tough NFC North. And so until they,
- 4:42Speaker 1: until they get better defensively, you're going to see a
- 4:45Speaker 1: lot of the games like they played against Buffalo. They'll
- 4:47Speaker 1: win a bunch. They'll win 41 to 31. Sometimes they're
- 4:50Speaker 1: going to lose 41 to 31 sometimes. But what can
- 4:53Speaker 1: you say about Buffalo? I think Josh Allen already has
- 4:56Speaker 1: nine touchdowns between rushing and passing. Joe Brady, good job
- 5:00Speaker 1: by him to be 2-0 as the head coach, still
- 5:03Speaker 1: with his reigns of the offense. They're leaning into that
- 5:08Speaker 1: 13 personnel, three tight end stuff we talked about last
- 5:11Speaker 1: week when I did the preview and I talked about
- 5:13Speaker 1: all the different teams that are now playing multiple tight
- 5:16Speaker 1: ends and going under center and trying to follow that
- 5:19Speaker 1: Sean McVay and Brian Johnson mentality I'm sorry, Ben Johnson
- 5:24Speaker 1: style of offense with all the tight ends. Well, Buffalo
- 5:26Speaker 1: is doing it. They're doing a very good job. They've
- 5:29Speaker 1: made some interesting run schemes off of these larger surfaces
- 5:34Speaker 1: that they play with, you know, all these tight ends
- 5:36Speaker 1: out there. They've worked some great play action off it.
- 5:38Speaker 1: And they look like a well-oiled machine right now. They look,
- 5:41Speaker 1: I had the Bills as a top five team, but
- 5:43Speaker 1: I was wondering about Joe Brady as the head coach.
- 5:46Speaker 1: I was wondering about their new defensive coordinator and, you know,
- 5:50Speaker 1: moving on from Sean McDermott. who had done such a
- 5:52Speaker 1: great job there. But, hey, they're 2-0, and they look really,
- 5:56Speaker 1: really good. And those aren't– they just beat the playoff
- 6:00Speaker 1: team from last year in week one in Houston and
- 6:03Speaker 1: a team that a lot of people think will be
- 6:04Speaker 1: in the playoffs and maybe a contender this year in
- 6:08Speaker 1: the Lions, and they are 2-0. So hats off to
- 6:10Speaker 1: the Buffalo Bills. They have started off their season really well.
- 6:13Speaker 1: All right. The Sunday games. Some good ones, some interesting ones,
- 6:20Speaker 1: some ugly ones we'll start with. Panthers at Falcons. The
- 6:24Speaker 1: Falcons are two and a half point underdogs at home.
- 6:28Speaker 1: They are still starting Cooper Rush again. Tua is not ready.
- 6:32Speaker 1: I'm not sure if Tua is going to wind up
- 6:34Speaker 1: playing for the Falcons this year. I think they're going
- 6:36Speaker 1: to go right from Cooper Rush to Michael Penix when
- 6:39Speaker 1: he's ready. And I don't know that Michael Penix is
- 6:42Speaker 1: too far away from being ready. Maybe one more week.
- 6:45Speaker 1: Maybe not. We'll see. But Right now, the Falcons are
- 6:49Speaker 1: in dire straits, and I don't think Tua is going
- 6:51Speaker 1: to be the answer. They're playing a Panthers team that
- 6:56Speaker 1: looked pretty decent offensively last week against the Bears, even
- 6:59Speaker 1: though their defense got its teeth kicked in, gave up
- 7:03Speaker 1: 59 points. But at least you saw Bryce Young carry
- 7:08Speaker 1: it over from that playoff game he had against the
- 7:10Speaker 1: Rams last year in a loss, right? He had 360
- 7:13Speaker 1: yards passing. He had three touchdowns. And Jalen Coker is
- 7:17Speaker 1: a guy I've talked about a lot. You know, Ted
- 7:20Speaker 1: McMillan might be their number one receiver, but Jalen Coker
- 7:24Speaker 1: is the guy that they have that can really stress
- 7:26Speaker 1: defenses vertically and give them a big presence on the
- 7:31Speaker 1: outside and make plays outside the numbers down the field.
- 7:35Speaker 1: He's strong. You know, he was once compared to by,
- 7:38Speaker 1: I think, Steve Smith, the former Panthers receiver, compared Jalen
- 7:41Speaker 1: Coker to Tim Duncan. because he's so fundamentally sound. This
- 7:46Speaker 1: kid had a holy cross, Jalen Coker. He had 138 yards,
- 7:50Speaker 1: two touchdowns, got his ankle banged up, but it sounds
- 7:52Speaker 1: like he'll be good to go against the Falcons. Anyone
- 7:55Speaker 1: can win this game. If the Falcons, if the Panthers
- 7:59Speaker 1: can play a little bit better defense and they continue
- 8:02Speaker 1: to get better play out of Bryce Young, you like
- 8:06Speaker 1: their chances because right now the Falcons are, the Falcons
- 8:09Speaker 1: are just, They're treading water until Penix gets back. And
- 8:13Speaker 1: even when Penix gets back, I don't know how good
- 8:16Speaker 1: they're going to be. They got to ride Bajon Robinson
- 8:18Speaker 1: as much as they possibly can. A really fun one
- 8:22Speaker 1: o'clock game. Vikings at Bears. All right. The Bears are
- 8:27Speaker 1: four and a half point favorites. They just scored a
- 8:30Speaker 1: truckload of points. I mean, you heard Ben Johnson say
- 8:33Speaker 1: during either training camp or ODAs that he wants the
- 8:37Speaker 1: Bears to have the highest scoring average ever. per game
- 8:41Speaker 1: scoring average in the history of the league. Well, there's
- 8:44Speaker 1: one way to do it. Go score 59 in your opener.
- 8:47Speaker 1: I mean, they could literally get shut out by the
- 8:50Speaker 1: Vikings this weekend, and they're still averaging close to 30
- 8:52Speaker 1: points per game. So that was a heck of a
- 8:57Speaker 1: week one game. Now, they're still bad defensively, but if
- 9:01Speaker 1: you can score the way they're scoring, and think about this.
- 9:05Speaker 1: Burden had an okay game. Loveland had no catches, so
- 9:09Speaker 1: their top two guys did not explode. Their big guy
- 9:13Speaker 1: was Kalief Raymond, who is really their third or fourth
- 9:16Speaker 1: option in the past game, had a big game. That's
- 9:21Speaker 1: not going to happen all the time, but Caleb Williams,
- 9:24Speaker 1: you saw him throw the ball. He ran for a
- 9:26Speaker 1: couple of touchdowns. He is so fast, and he makes
- 9:30Speaker 1: some unbelievable off-schedule throws. He threw a ball to, I
- 9:36Speaker 1: think it was Komet? some kind of over-the-shoulder throw where
- 9:39Speaker 1: he was rolling to his left, and he kind of
- 9:41Speaker 1: throws off his left foot as he's falling back with
- 9:44Speaker 1: his right arm. He just guns it almost in a
- 9:47Speaker 1: perfect spot. He's really coming along in this offense, and
- 9:51Speaker 1: he could have player of the year type of numbers
- 9:56Speaker 1: when it's all said and done. I don't want to
- 9:57Speaker 1: get too crazy. You know me. I always say week one.
- 10:00Speaker 1: is a con job so I'm not trying to trying
- 10:02Speaker 1: to get too crazy in fact I wanted to remind
- 10:04Speaker 1: everybody I meant to do this at the start of
- 10:06Speaker 1: the show last year the Raiders went and beat the
- 10:10Speaker 1: Patriots in week one they went across country I'm pretty
- 10:12Speaker 1: sure went to New England and beat the Patriots in
- 10:14Speaker 1: week one so if you need When you see some
- 10:18Speaker 1: of those week one scores, like the Chargers losing to
- 10:20Speaker 1: the Cardinals badly, okay, or some other close ones, some
- 10:25Speaker 1: upsets in week one, don't get too crazy about it.
- 10:28Speaker 1: Do I think the Bears are going to score 59
- 10:30Speaker 1: points every week? No. But they do have an excellent
- 10:33Speaker 1: head coach. They have a great run game. Swift had
- 10:37Speaker 1: 124 yards and three touchdowns. Menungai took one carry to
- 10:40Speaker 1: the house for 61 yards, and they have good receivers.
- 10:43Speaker 1: They are going to be a very tough team. However,
- 10:45Speaker 1: they're playing a Vikings team. that I told you last week, right,
- 10:49Speaker 1: when I did the preview show, that you have to
- 10:51Speaker 1: respect that the Vikings had horrific quarterback play last year
- 10:55Speaker 1: and still went 9-8. I mean, absolutely horrific quarterback play,
- 11:00Speaker 1: and they went 9-8. They were hoping Kyler Murray would
- 11:03Speaker 1: be the answer. Well, he goes out early with a concussion.
- 11:06Speaker 1: In comes Carson Wentz, and the next thing you know,
- 11:10Speaker 1: Carson Wentz is throwing the ball all around the field,
- 11:13Speaker 1: looking good. I don't want to make too much of
- 11:16Speaker 1: one week, but we know that Carson Wentz's history is
- 11:19Speaker 1: up and down and up and down. He really needs protection.
- 11:22Speaker 1: I think it was a good sign for the Vikings
- 11:24Speaker 1: offensive line that he was able to get that protection. And,
- 11:27Speaker 1: of course, when Wentz is protected, he can still throw
- 11:30Speaker 1: the ball pretty decently there. So it was a big
- 11:36Speaker 1: win for them against the Packers, a division opponent. They
- 11:38Speaker 1: scored 39 points. Amazingly, Wentz's score gives you three touchdown passes.
- 11:44Speaker 1: All right. Justin Jefferson has a big game. That's good. Uh,
- 11:48Speaker 1: Jordan Mason looks like he's going to be hurt. So
- 11:50Speaker 1: they're gonna have to rely on Aaron Jones. Who's a
- 11:52Speaker 1: little bit aging now in their run game. And then
- 11:55Speaker 1: of course they're playing the bear. So for the Vikings
- 11:57Speaker 1: to stick with the bears, they're going to have to
- 11:59Speaker 1: play very good defense and they've got one of the best.
- 12:02Speaker 1: And he, he showed it again last week. Flores knows
- 12:06Speaker 1: how to scheme defenses. He had the Packers pretty much
- 12:12Speaker 1: looking awful. Uh, offensively last week, and he will have
- 12:17Speaker 1: something in mind for the bears. The question is, can
- 12:21Speaker 1: he hold the bears under 24? Cause I don't know
- 12:25Speaker 1: what the Vikings are going to score a ton of points.
- 12:28Speaker 1: We'll see. It's in Chicago. Should be a great game.
- 12:32Speaker 1: Good NFC North battle. I love the fact that we're
- 12:34Speaker 1: getting really good NFC North games, or at least the
- 12:37Speaker 1: lions playing the bills, right? Right off the bat, because
- 12:40Speaker 1: it's a fantastic division where all four teams can make
- 12:43Speaker 1: a case. But this will be a fantastic game. Can
- 12:46Speaker 1: the Vikings slow down the Bears? Can they get two
- 12:49Speaker 1: straight weeks of Carson Wentz playing at a good level?
- 12:52Speaker 1: That's going to take protecting him first and foremost. But, again,
- 12:56Speaker 1: good sign for the Vikings' offensive line after one week.
- 13:00Speaker 1: And the Bears, we'll just see. Can they keep that
- 13:03Speaker 1: offense going? Another 1 o'clock game. Eagles are in Nashville
- 13:07Speaker 1: against the Titans, and we will have that all covered.
- 13:10Speaker 1: The Eagles are seven-point road favorites. I don't like that.
- 13:15Speaker 1: And I know how bad the Titans are. But the
- 13:17Speaker 1: Eagles have some issues right now offensively on how they're
- 13:21Speaker 1: going to get their identity working for them correctly. And,
- 13:25Speaker 1: you know, the Eagles were big favorites. What were they,
- 13:27Speaker 1: five and a half, six and a half point favorites
- 13:29Speaker 1: against the Commanders? They did not cover at home. And
- 13:32Speaker 1: now seven point favorites on the road against Tennessee. I'm
- 13:35Speaker 1: just telling you, I know the Titans lost to the Jets.
- 13:38Speaker 1: Do I think the Titans are good? No. Do I
- 13:41Speaker 1: worry about week one scores and what they mean for
- 13:43Speaker 1: 17 weeks? Yes. So Salah is a good coach, and
- 13:47Speaker 1: he's beaten the Eagles before with the Jets. So that
- 13:50Speaker 1: line scares me a little bit. Steelers, the Patriots. So
- 13:56Speaker 1: this will be a big test, right? This will be
- 13:57Speaker 1: a test of the Patriots. They failed under pressure. They
- 14:02Speaker 1: had a terrible game against the Seahawks. You know, they
- 14:05Speaker 1: couldn't take advantage of Sam Donald getting hurt. A lot
- 14:08Speaker 1: of mistakes made by their quarterback, Drake May. Now they'll
- 14:12Speaker 1: be home. They're five and a half point favorites over
- 14:15Speaker 1: the Steelers. I thought the Steelers would look better against
- 14:19Speaker 1: the Falcons, especially at home last week. They looked okay.
- 14:23Speaker 1: But the Steelers never seemed to win by a lot.
- 14:26Speaker 1: You know, they cornered the market on winning ugly. So
- 14:29Speaker 1: I imagine they will try their hardest to make this
- 14:33Speaker 1: an ugly win in New England. We'll see if Travion
- 14:37Speaker 1: Henderson plays and gives the running game for the Patriots
- 14:41Speaker 1: a little extra spice. He did not play in the
- 14:43Speaker 1: season opener. But the big thing here is Drake may
- 14:46Speaker 1: responding and showing that, you know, he's a human being.
- 14:50Speaker 1: He can have a bad game. Yeah. He had almost
- 14:52Speaker 1: none of them last year, but other than week one,
- 14:56Speaker 1: but now you come back, you're home. You got a
- 14:58Speaker 1: Steelers team that has a very good defense, but you're
- 15:02Speaker 1: Drake may you're the Patriots. The issue is obviously AJ Brown.
- 15:06Speaker 1: You will not have him for four more, three games
- 15:09Speaker 1: after this. So, but you didn't have him last year.
- 15:12Speaker 1: Romeo Dobbs really has to snap out of what was
- 15:15Speaker 1: a terrible week one game for him. And the Patriots
- 15:19Speaker 1: got to get back in the win column there and
- 15:20Speaker 1: start to get everybody remembering why they were in the
- 15:23Speaker 1: Super Bowl last year. Packers at Jets. Now, if you
- 15:28Speaker 1: had looked at this game three weeks ago in the preseason, Packers, Jets,
- 15:33Speaker 1: disgusting game. Packers a roll. Well, the Packers look bad
- 15:37Speaker 1: against the Vikings. Everything everybody said about them. As far
- 15:43Speaker 1: as their defense, without Micah Parsons, it wound up being true.
- 15:46Speaker 1: They had no answers for the Vikings who were on
- 15:49Speaker 1: Carson Wentz midway through the first quarter. So their defense
- 15:54Speaker 1: looked bad in all forms and fashions. Their offense, they
- 15:58Speaker 1: wound up throwing the ball quite a bit, which is
- 16:00Speaker 1: not what their head coach wants to do but was
- 16:03Speaker 1: forced to do. He's got two running backs, Marshawn Lloyd
- 16:07Speaker 1: and Chris Brooks right now, who are not Josh Jacobs.
- 16:10Speaker 1: One of them is really explosive. The other one is
- 16:11Speaker 1: a better pass protector. Brooks got more run, probably could
- 16:15Speaker 1: be better in pass protection against that Brian Flores defense.
- 16:19Speaker 1: Maybe Marshawn Lloyd will get more work against the Jets.
- 16:24Speaker 1: But when you see a Packers quarterback throw for 387 yards,
- 16:29Speaker 1: that might look impressive, but you know that that's not
- 16:32Speaker 1: the style that LaFleur wants to play. And it probably
- 16:34Speaker 1: means things are going wrong for them. And they did.
- 16:37Speaker 1: The Packers didn't look good. Yes, Matthew Golden finally had
- 16:40Speaker 1: a nice game. Good for him. Christian Watson, I already
- 16:42Speaker 1: said last week, I think he's going to be a star.
- 16:44Speaker 1: I think he's going to have a great year this year.
- 16:46Speaker 1: But the Packers lost their identity in that game against
- 16:49Speaker 1: the Vikings, and they lost. And the Jets are coming
- 16:52Speaker 1: off a very impressive win. It was their first road
- 16:56Speaker 1: win in week one since, I believe, 2009. Or, no,
- 17:00Speaker 1: I'm sorry, 2019. It's been a long time. It's been
- 17:03Speaker 1: a very long time. So they're going to look to
- 17:06Speaker 1: capitalize their home. I was really interested watching some tape
- 17:10Speaker 1: on– the jets Titans game. It looks like Frank Reich
- 17:13Speaker 1: is now also leaning in the under center, multiple tight ends.
- 17:18Speaker 1: He saw a motion and misdirection. He is a West
- 17:22Speaker 1: coast guy, but he's not been that kind of a,
- 17:24Speaker 1: it's not been a Shanahan McVay kind of West coast guy,
- 17:28Speaker 1: but the knock on Frank Reich was that his offenses
- 17:30Speaker 1: got stale quickly and he wasn't a good play caller
- 17:34Speaker 1: week one. He looks like he's made some adjustments. Nice
- 17:37Speaker 1: little jet sweep using the rookie Kenyon Sadiq for a
- 17:40Speaker 1: three-yard touchdown. Got his run game to the edges going
- 17:43Speaker 1: with Brees Hall. Got the ball out of Geno Smith's
- 17:46Speaker 1: hands quickly with some well-designed plays to get the ball
- 17:51Speaker 1: to Garrett Wilson and get the ball to A.D. Mitchell.
- 17:56Speaker 1: So it was a really nice balanced offense that they
- 17:59Speaker 1: had with Hall going for 102 yards. And I think
- 18:01Speaker 1: Geno only threw the ball 20, 22 times. That's what
- 18:05Speaker 1: they want to do. And if they can continue to
- 18:08Speaker 1: do that against a Packers team that, again, is struggling
- 18:10Speaker 1: with defense and pass rush after one week, no Parsons,
- 18:14Speaker 1: imagine the Jets going 2-0 with wins over the Titans
- 18:17Speaker 1: and the Packers. That would really start to signal that
- 18:21Speaker 1: Aaron Glenn has things going in the right direction. Browns
- 18:25Speaker 1: at Buccaneers, and the Browns will continue this trade with
- 18:29Speaker 1: Deshaun Watson. The Buccaneers are 8.5-point favorites. Bucs had some issues.
- 18:35Speaker 1: protecting the ball. Week one, I think Mayfield had three bumbles,
- 18:39Speaker 1: which is never what you want. You want to play
- 18:42Speaker 1: a crisp game. You just give the quarterback a big contract.
- 18:45Speaker 1: You're hoping that he plays better. But they did score
- 18:48Speaker 1: 27 points against a Bengals defense that is supposed to
- 18:52Speaker 1: be improved. We'll see. The Bengals defense did force four turnovers,
- 18:57Speaker 1: so it looked like they were improved there. And the
- 19:00Speaker 1: Bucs scored 17 points in the second half. So when
- 19:03Speaker 1: the Bucs weren't given the ball away, they were moving
- 19:06Speaker 1: the ball pretty well. Irving was healthy, looked good. Egbuka,
- 19:10Speaker 1: their second-year receiver, looked good. I mean, honestly, the Buccaneers
- 19:13Speaker 1: should win this game by 14 or more points going forward.
- 19:17Speaker 1: The Browns, it's hard to take them seriously until they're
- 19:20Speaker 1: playing a real quarterback, and it doesn't look like they're
- 19:24Speaker 1: ready to do that yet. And I'm not even sure
- 19:26Speaker 1: Shador is the answer, but I would much rather see
- 19:29Speaker 1: him attempt– to see what he can do than watch
- 19:32Speaker 1: Deshaun Watson play football anymore. One o'clock game again. The
- 19:39Speaker 1: Saints are at the Ravens. The Saints looked for the
- 19:45Speaker 1: first half against the Lions last week like they weren't
- 19:49Speaker 1: going to be that team. They're a surprise team for
- 19:52Speaker 1: a lot of people. I thought personally the Saints would
- 19:55Speaker 1: challenge the Bucs for the NFC South this year. I
- 19:57Speaker 1: liked the Saints. I was just worried about their defense.
- 20:00Speaker 1: And after the first half against the Lions, those concerns
- 20:04Speaker 1: look legitimate. They just did not play well, shucked Didn't
- 20:09Speaker 1: look very good in the first half. They were down
- 20:12Speaker 1: 7-0 early in the game. And then they got down
- 20:16Speaker 1: 21-0 by the third quarter. And that's when all of
- 20:20Speaker 1: a sudden things started to turn where the Lions' bad
- 20:23Speaker 1: defense reared its head. And all of a sudden, Shuck
- 20:27Speaker 1: and the offense started to do some good things. And
- 20:30Speaker 1: by the time it got close there, it was 21-17
- 20:34Speaker 1: in the fourth. Then the Lions kicked a field goal
- 20:37Speaker 1: to go 24-17. And then Shuck throws a touchdown to
- 20:40Speaker 1: Juwan Johnson, who I really like. Good tight end to
- 20:44Speaker 1: tie the game. It goes into overtime. And, of course,
- 20:47Speaker 1: the Amon Ross-St. Brown touchdown puts the Lions ahead. And
- 20:51Speaker 1: then the Saints come back and get a touchdown to
- 20:57Speaker 1: Fant from Shuck, but they fail the two-point conversion. So
- 21:01Speaker 1: the Saints really made this thing a game. They basically
- 21:04Speaker 1: scored all their points from midway to the third quarter
- 21:08Speaker 1: and So they can be an explosive scoring team. Shuck
- 21:13Speaker 1: really did look like a good quarterback there. It just
- 21:16Speaker 1: took them a while to get warmed up. Well, they
- 21:18Speaker 1: can't do that two weeks in a row against the Ravens.
- 21:21Speaker 1: The Ravens came out of the box with their new
- 21:24Speaker 1: offensive coordinator, Neclan Doyle, and they look good. They're doing great.
- 21:28Speaker 1: They're leaning into the under center and the multiple tight ends.
- 21:31Speaker 1: And then the next thing you know, they got, what,
- 21:34Speaker 1: 31 points at halftime. Did the Colts score a few
- 21:37Speaker 1: in the second half to make it look somewhat respectable?
- 21:39Speaker 1: I guess. But they rolled the Colts 41-23. Henry, who
- 21:44Speaker 1: is an ageless wonder, gets 144 yards on the ground
- 21:48Speaker 1: and three touchdowns. Lamar looks like the Lamar of MVP
- 21:51Speaker 1: form with 324 passing yards. Had a couple of big runs. Now,
- 21:57Speaker 1: Flowers got hurt in the game, but it looks like
- 22:00Speaker 1: he's going to play. He had a big game, but
- 22:01Speaker 1: he got hurt. It looks like he's going to be
- 22:03Speaker 1: able to play. The Ravens are 8.5-point favorites. If the
- 22:07Speaker 1: Saints want to make a statement, they go in there
- 22:09Speaker 1: and they win this game. I know that's a tall ask,
- 22:13Speaker 1: but don't just cover the spread. You're 0-1. If you
- 22:17Speaker 1: fall to 0-2, you're already going to start to lose
- 22:20Speaker 1: some faith, some ground. It would be too early to panic.
- 22:24Speaker 1: But if you really want to believe in the Saints,
- 22:28Speaker 1: I love their run game. They had a good passing.
- 22:30Speaker 1: I love their running game. You're going to need that.
- 22:31Speaker 1: You're going to have to ball control against the Ravens.
- 22:35Speaker 1: Go to Baltimore and win this game. Because the Ravens
- 22:38Speaker 1: are good, but I don't think they're perfect. The Saints
- 22:41Speaker 1: should be able to go in. But if they get embarrassed,
- 22:44Speaker 1: if they lose by 10, 12, 14, it's going to
- 22:48Speaker 1: feel like the Saints haven't turned the corner yet. Ravens,
- 22:51Speaker 1: what can you say about them? Look really good. Good
- 22:53Speaker 1: way to go in the Indianapolis get themselves a win.
- 22:56Speaker 1: The new offensive coordinator, he's got to feel good about
- 22:59Speaker 1: the results that he got. Let's see if they can
- 23:01Speaker 1: do it again in week two. Football is finally back

- 26:28Speaker 1: let them know we sent you. All right. Bengals at Texans.
- 26:32Speaker 1: Now I said last week that I really thought the
- 26:35Speaker 1: Texans were going to be an improved offensive team because
- 26:39Speaker 1: they've upgraded their offensive line, which is still not great,
- 26:42Speaker 1: but I think it's better. I love the kid that
- 26:44Speaker 1: they drafted to play left guard in the first round. Uh,
- 26:47Speaker 1: you know, their left tackle enters year two. You just
- 26:49Speaker 1: thought there would be better. And then, of course, the
- 26:51Speaker 1: David Montgomery addition, I thought, was huge for them. It
- 26:55Speaker 1: gave them an honest running game. Somebody who could help
- 26:59Speaker 1: move the chains. And I did believe that it would
- 27:02Speaker 1: take some pressure off of C.J. Stroud. And if that
- 27:04Speaker 1: were the case, he would look better. And he did.
- 27:07Speaker 1: He threw two touchdowns, completed 26 of 38 passes, had a,
- 27:09Speaker 1: I think, a 106.7 passer rating. So he looked good,
- 27:12Speaker 1: even without Jaden Higgins, who they lost. But amazingly, and
- 27:22Speaker 1: by the way, Montgomery had his 60 yards and two touchdowns.
- 27:24Speaker 1: So Montgomery did his job. He also had another receiving touchdown.
- 27:28Speaker 1: Montgomery had a really good game. Surprisingly, the defense melted down.
- 27:32Speaker 1: I mean, they just had no response. And again, I
- 27:35Speaker 1: tip my cap to what Joe Brady is doing offensively
- 27:38Speaker 1: with these two and three tight end formations. I think
- 27:40Speaker 1: he's taking some people by surprise. And he probably did
- 27:43Speaker 1: that for the Texans and D'Amico Ryans because they just
- 27:47Speaker 1: were not good defensively the way they normally are. I
- 27:51Speaker 1: will say after halftime, they allowed 12 points instead of
- 27:55Speaker 1: 24 that they allowed before halftime. So they probably made
- 27:59Speaker 1: some tweaks and adjustments a little bit too late. I
- 28:02Speaker 1: don't think the– I'm not worried. This is a week
- 28:04Speaker 1: one thing. I am not worried about the Texans' defense
- 28:06Speaker 1: at all. I think it will still be great. And
- 28:09Speaker 1: they come home. But they do have a game against
- 28:12Speaker 1: the Bengals. And, again, the Bengals are 1-0. They scored
- 28:15Speaker 1: a lot of points. You know they can score a
- 28:17Speaker 1: lot of points. By the way, Nico Collins got banged
- 28:19Speaker 1: up with a hamstring. He may not be able to go.
- 28:22Speaker 1: If Collins does not play for the Texans, then this
- 28:26Speaker 1: one's going to be tough. Now, the Texans started off
- 28:29Speaker 1: badly last year. So even if they fall to 0-2,
- 28:33Speaker 1: I'm not going to sit there and rule out their season.
- 28:36Speaker 1: I think they were 1-3 or 1-4 after last year.
- 28:39Speaker 1: If I go back and look, you'll see they started
- 28:42Speaker 1: off very poorly. It just so happens to be that
- 28:46Speaker 1: they had a really tough week one draw with the Bills,
- 28:49Speaker 1: who they usually beat but didn't, and now they got
- 28:51Speaker 1: a rejuvenated Bengals coming in. I still think if you're
- 28:55Speaker 1: the Texans, you should win the game, but hey, the
- 28:58Speaker 1: Bengals are tough. They outlasted the Bucs. They scored a
- 29:01Speaker 1: lot of points, as they usually do when Joe Burrow
- 29:03Speaker 1: is healthy. Interestingly, they didn't get a huge game out
- 29:06Speaker 1: of Jamar Chase or T. Higgins. It was Mike Jasicki
- 29:09Speaker 1: who did most of their damage. Yoshevis is a good
- 29:13Speaker 1: slot receiver. They had the run game going with Chase Brown.
- 29:16Speaker 1: This is another team and another coach, Zach Taylor, who
- 29:20Speaker 1: is leaning into more under center, playing tight ends, trying
- 29:24Speaker 1: to get a run game, trying to marry a play-action
- 29:27Speaker 1: game off that. The Bengals have been such a heavy
- 29:30Speaker 1: shotgun team with Joe Burrow in the past, so this
- 29:33Speaker 1: is new for them, but you have to like their
- 29:35Speaker 1: results with 33 points. Now, a lot of that was
- 29:38Speaker 1: aided by the forte they were able to produce. I
- 29:42Speaker 1: don't want you to think that like they lit up
- 29:44Speaker 1: the box score as much as the 33 points might suggest,
- 29:47Speaker 1: but Hey, if the defense, that's what we've said about
- 29:49Speaker 1: the Bengals, their defense is just a little bit better
- 29:52Speaker 1: than with the offensive firepower that they have. They should
- 29:56Speaker 1: be really good. And that's what helped them win a game.
- 29:59Speaker 1: in week one. Good game. I like that. Bengals-Texans. Should
- 30:03Speaker 1: be a good one. All right. This brings us to
- 30:06Speaker 1: the 4 o'clock games. You got Jags at Broncos. Broncos
- 30:11Speaker 1: are home, two-and-a-half-point favorites. And so this is the type
- 30:15Speaker 1: of game where you expect that the Broncos, who were
- 30:18Speaker 1: absolutely humbled by the Chiefs, were terrible, terrible on defense
- 30:25Speaker 1: and tackling. Forget pass rush. They were just awful in
- 30:29Speaker 1: wrapping up tackles. I mean, they let Kenneth Walker basically
- 30:32Speaker 1: do what he wanted to. Fourth down run, he breaks
- 30:37Speaker 1: it to the edge. Riley Moss wants none of it.
- 30:39Speaker 1: And away Walker goes for a really long touchdown. If
- 30:43Speaker 1: you're the Broncos, you're a prideful group. You know Sean
- 30:46Speaker 1: Payton is a prideful coordinator or head coach. You know
- 30:51Speaker 1: Vance Joseph is a prideful defensive coordinator. You cannot come home.
- 30:56Speaker 1: in front of your home crowd after honestly deserving to
- 30:59Speaker 1: be in the Super Bowl last year and have another
- 31:02Speaker 1: effort like that. You're allowed a week one implosion. Everybody is.
- 31:06Speaker 1: Week one's a con job. I'll keep saying it again.
- 31:08Speaker 1: You can't come home against the Jaguars and not wrap
- 31:11Speaker 1: up tackles against Basial, Tootin, Chris Rodriguez, you know, Parker Washington.
- 31:18Speaker 1: You got to be able to cover them. I think
- 31:19Speaker 1: the Broncos, they are two and a half point favorites
- 31:22Speaker 1: in this game. I think they can win this game big.
- 31:28Speaker 1: And I like the Jaguars. And I was impressed as
- 31:31Speaker 1: anybody with the Jaguars and how they looked. I mean,
- 31:34Speaker 1: Liam Cohen is doing a great job, but they beat
- 31:36Speaker 1: the Browns. I can't, I can't put anything into a
- 31:38Speaker 1: big blow out of the Browns. This will be a
- 31:41Speaker 1: real challenge for the Broncos. And honestly, if I'm the Jaguars,
- 31:45Speaker 1: I'm probably a little annoyed that the Broncos got humbled
- 31:48Speaker 1: the way they did, because you know, the Broncos are
- 31:50Speaker 1: going to come home looking to prove a point. And
- 31:53Speaker 1: the Jaguars are, You know what? Lawrence played well, four TDs.
- 31:57Speaker 1: They did get 66 yards out of Tootin'. Parker Washington
- 32:00Speaker 1: continues to be such a reliable, dependable target for Trevor Lawrence.
- 32:05Speaker 1: They have basically been able to move past that Brian
- 32:09Speaker 1: Thomas Jr. has not played like he played since his
- 32:12Speaker 1: rookie year. They have moved on. Not moved on as
- 32:17Speaker 1: far as personnel. They still play him, but Parker Washington
- 32:21Speaker 1: is their guy now. They run the ball a little bit.
- 32:23Speaker 1: I still don't love their offensive line. Jacoby Myers is
- 32:27Speaker 1: another guy who will come in. He had a touchdown.
- 32:29Speaker 1: Brenton Strange had a couple of catches. They're an offense
- 32:33Speaker 1: that can spread it out. But two years ago, it
- 32:35Speaker 1: was all about Brian Thomas Jr., and he's a budding star.
- 32:38Speaker 1: Now he's an option in the offense. And by the way,
- 32:43Speaker 1: on the Broncos' end, listen, it was the first game
- 32:49Speaker 1: for their new play caller on offense, Davis Webb. I
- 32:52Speaker 1: was very surprised. I understood why, because Sean Payton didn't
- 32:56Speaker 1: want to lose Webb to a head coaching job. But
- 32:58Speaker 1: he gave him the play calling. And Payton's a very
- 33:02Speaker 1: prideful play caller. That is his baby. And I tell
- 33:05Speaker 1: you what, the Broncos have another dud offensively. If they
- 33:09Speaker 1: don't figure out how to get the ball in the
- 33:11Speaker 1: hands of Jalen Waddell, it took way too late in
- 33:14Speaker 1: that Chiefs game. And by the time they did, Waddell
- 33:15Speaker 1: had a few drops. He had a bad drop. I
- 33:17Speaker 1: get it. But you've got to get the ball in
- 33:19Speaker 1: the hands of your most explosive player a whole lot
- 33:22Speaker 1: earlier than they were able to do. And the clock
- 33:25Speaker 1: will be ticking if Davis Webb has another dud because
- 33:29Speaker 1: Sean Payton will not stand for that for very long.
- 33:33Speaker 1: All right, Raiders at Chargers. Raiders had a very nice
- 33:36Speaker 1: workmanlike win in week one, and you expect that the
- 33:39Speaker 1: Raiders are going to be better this year. Clint Kubiak
- 33:43Speaker 1: is their head coach. First of all, they played the
- 33:44Speaker 1: Dolphins in the season opener. Dolphins are the worst team
- 33:47Speaker 1: in the NFL. I told you about their offensive line upgrades.
- 33:52Speaker 1: They signed Tyler Lindabaugh, great center, immediate impact. Colton Miller
- 33:57Speaker 1: back at left tackle. The Clint Kubiak offense that worked
- 34:00Speaker 1: wonders last year for the Seahawks in the Super Bowl
- 34:03Speaker 1: is now being run in Las Vegas. They didn't even
- 34:07Speaker 1: have Brock Bowers. We'll see if he plays. I know
- 34:11Speaker 1: he got back to practice. I'm not sure he'll play
- 34:13Speaker 1: this week, but they didn't need him. to beat the Dolphins.
- 34:16Speaker 1: They got 100 rushing yards out of Jenty. They got
- 34:19Speaker 1: 45 more receiving yards and a couple of touchdowns. They
- 34:22Speaker 1: basically rode Jenty and their other tight end, Michael Meyer,
- 34:25Speaker 1: and that's all they needed to beat a Dolphins team
- 34:28Speaker 1: that is terrible, if we're being honest. So now they've
- 34:32Speaker 1: got to play a real team in the Chargers, the Chargers,
- 34:35Speaker 1: just like the Broncos game. The Chargers get absolutely emasculated
- 34:40Speaker 1: in week one by the Arizona Cardinals, a game that
- 34:43Speaker 1: cost a lot of people, myself included, an early exit
- 34:48Speaker 1: in a survivor pool. All right. Well, that to me
- 34:51Speaker 1: reeks of week one con job type of loss. It
- 34:54Speaker 1: was just a bad game. Now I do think the
- 34:56Speaker 1: chargers have some issues. I do think they do, but
- 35:01Speaker 1: they are better than the Raiders and they should beat
- 35:03Speaker 1: the Raiders. There's six and a half point, six and
- 35:06Speaker 1: a half point favorites over the Raiders. And I will
- 35:09Speaker 1: see what about McConkie. He's back. He got banged up.
- 35:13Speaker 1: They should, They should be able to beat the Raiders
- 35:14Speaker 1: even if McConkie doesn't play. But obviously, he's a big
- 35:17Speaker 1: part of their offense. So we'll see if he comes back.
- 35:20Speaker 1: The Raiders, look, I don't want to say you're playing
- 35:23Speaker 1: with house money, but you come out of week two 1-1, okay.
- 35:27Speaker 1: You still won one of your first two games. There's
- 35:30Speaker 1: no expectations of this team until they turn it over
- 35:33Speaker 1: to Fernando Mendoza. So be 1-1, all right. On to
- 35:38Speaker 1: week three. Be 2-0. Be 2-0. And all of a sudden,
- 35:44Speaker 1: Clint Kubiak, people are going to think he's got that
- 35:47Speaker 1: magic formula. I already thought he was a really good hire.
- 35:50Speaker 1: But that's beat 2-0 and beat the Chargers. And, man,
- 35:54Speaker 1: you've got the Chargers already thinking about reevaluating things. I
- 35:58Speaker 1: was a little surprised that Mike McDaniel's offense did not
- 36:02Speaker 1: look very good there in week one. But we'll see.
- 36:06Speaker 1: Big 425 game, the Commanders versus the Cowboys. You want
- 36:10Speaker 1: to talk about two teams. that blew it in week
- 36:14Speaker 1: one in different ways. I mean, the commanders had to
- 36:17Speaker 1: go into Philadelphia. They were never, I mean, outside three,
- 36:21Speaker 1: nothing lead. It's not like they were ever control of
- 36:23Speaker 1: the game, but they blew it because of an awful
- 36:27Speaker 1: two point conversion play because digs had to over celebrate
- 36:31Speaker 1: and cost his team a penalty. I mean, they were there,
- 36:34Speaker 1: they were hanging tough. They had opportunities to win the game. Um,
- 36:39Speaker 1: But in the end, they could not. They had a P.A.T. blocked,
- 36:42Speaker 1: of course, by Jalen Carter. And now they got to
- 36:46Speaker 1: go to Dallas and play a Cowboys team that lost
- 36:48Speaker 1: to the Giants. Now everybody knew the Giants were going
- 36:52Speaker 1: to be an improved team. I don't know that everybody
- 36:55Speaker 1: expected Dallas to go into Giants Stadium and just completely
- 37:00Speaker 1: get outclassed the way they did in that game. That
- 37:03Speaker 1: was embarrassing. Dak threw a bad pick. He just expected... More, obviously,
- 37:11Speaker 1: from the Cowboys. Now, defensively, the Cowboys are not there yet.
- 37:17Speaker 1: They really struggle at the linebacker level. You know, there
- 37:20Speaker 1: was a sequence in this game where the Giants basically
- 37:23Speaker 1: ran the same play. They were just throwing the ball
- 37:26Speaker 1: to the left side, likely, left side, single-target. They were
- 37:28Speaker 1: just throwing the ball to the same spot on the field,
- 37:31Speaker 1: and the Cowboys could not stop it. So... maybe not
- 37:36Speaker 1: the greatest debut for Christian Parker as the defensive coordinator.
- 37:39Speaker 1: You'd like to see him have more answers. But I
- 37:42Speaker 1: think he's still working his way with his personnel. But
- 37:46Speaker 1: you can't give up 28 points to the Giants. However,
- 37:49Speaker 1: you look at the Giants, and there were some good
- 37:52Speaker 1: things that they were able to do. But the Cowboys
- 37:55Speaker 1: only scored 20 points. So if you're going to have
- 37:57Speaker 1: an off night defensively, which the Cowboys are used to,
- 38:00Speaker 1: at least get your offense going. And they could not
- 38:03Speaker 1: get their offense going. How do these two teams match up? Well,
- 38:07Speaker 1: the Dallas Cowboys are four and a half point favorites.
- 38:10Speaker 1: They are at home. I got to tell you, I
- 38:14Speaker 1: liked a lot of things that I saw Durante Jones
- 38:17Speaker 1: do as the commander's defensive coordinator. He put a lot
- 38:19Speaker 1: of pressure on the Eagles offensive line, not just Landon Dickerson.
- 38:23Speaker 1: I don't want to just make this about Landon Dickerson.
- 38:25Speaker 1: The Eagles had trouble running to the edges. You know,
- 38:28Speaker 1: they had to get bailed out by a bunch of
- 38:30Speaker 1: hurt scrambles. The commanders did a lot of things, putting
- 38:33Speaker 1: guys at the line of scrimmage, dropping sides. They did
- 38:36Speaker 1: Durante Jones did what his mentor, Brian Flores, does. And
- 38:40Speaker 1: so I kind of liked it, and we'll see. Now,
- 38:43Speaker 1: I believe they won't have Frankie Luvu, but I was
- 38:46Speaker 1: really impressed with what I saw from Sonny Stiles. Owe
- 38:49Speaker 1: gives you something in the pass rush. And again, they
- 38:52Speaker 1: will manufacture good pass rush because that's what Durante Jones
- 38:57Speaker 1: looks like he can do being a Flores disciple. This
- 39:00Speaker 1: will hurt the Cowboys. The Cowboys are still without their
- 39:02Speaker 1: left guard. Best left guard in the game, Tyler Smith.
- 39:06Speaker 1: Still without him. They're still working through some things offensively.
- 39:10Speaker 1: Wouldn't surprise me if the commanders went into Dallas and
- 39:13Speaker 1: pulled out a win here. I'm not saying Cowboys are
- 39:16Speaker 1: going to lose. I'm not saying the Cowboys can't get
- 39:18Speaker 1: their act together offensively. But I think what the commanders
- 39:23Speaker 1: will do defensively might give the Cowboys some trouble up front.
- 39:27Speaker 1: Look forward to watching that game. It'll be really interesting.
- 39:30Speaker 1: And then, of course, another 425 game. You get an
- 39:33Speaker 1: NFC West game. Seahawks at Cardinals. Seahawks. The Seahawks, to me,
- 39:42Speaker 1: now they'll be on their backup quarterback, Drew Locke. He's
- 39:44Speaker 1: been with them for several years now. I don't think...
- 39:48Speaker 1: I'm not trying to minimize losing the starting quarterback, but
- 39:51Speaker 1: this team is all about playing defense, running the ball,
- 39:53Speaker 1: working the play action. I don't think that they will
- 39:57Speaker 1: struggle to beat the Cardinals. I'm not going to say,
- 40:00Speaker 1: I'm not saying they're going to wipe them off the
- 40:01Speaker 1: face of the earth. Um, they are three and a
- 40:03Speaker 1: half point favorites probably win by more than that. I
- 40:07Speaker 1: think the Cardinals showed you that that week one was
- 40:11Speaker 1: probably the best time for them to pull off an upset.
- 40:14Speaker 1: They do come home. So have that advantage. Um, They
- 40:18Speaker 1: were able to get Jeremiah Love on the field. Algier
- 40:20Speaker 1: had a nice game getting most of the work. But
- 40:24Speaker 1: I don't think the Cardinals are a real good match
- 40:27Speaker 1: right now for the Seahawks defense. And remember, the Cardinals offense,
- 40:32Speaker 1: their head coach in their offense is being run by
- 40:34Speaker 1: Mike LaFleur, who comes from the 49ers chain, right? Just
- 40:41Speaker 1: like Clint Kubiak, the Seahawks offensive coordinator last year used to. So,
- 40:48Speaker 1: There's not going to be any guesswork in what the
- 40:51Speaker 1: Cardinals are trying to do offensively. The Seahawks, they'll know.
- 40:54Speaker 1: Mike McDonald is their defensive play caller. You know, he
- 40:56Speaker 1: plays against the 49ers twice. He plays against the Rams twice.
- 41:00Speaker 1: Whatever LeFleur and the Cardinals are going to do, it's
- 41:02Speaker 1: not going to be something that is taking the Seahawks
- 41:06Speaker 1: by surprise. Remember, Seahawks won that first game without their
- 41:10Speaker 1: great safety as well. He might be back in this game.
- 41:14Speaker 1: I'm in worry. That would be a big boost if
- 41:17Speaker 1: he is. I think he might be able to play
- 41:20Speaker 1: in this game. We'll have to see. But I imagine
- 41:22Speaker 1: with or without him, they will be able to handle
- 41:24Speaker 1: the Cardinals. And then you got Dolphins at the 49ers. And, man,
- 41:29Speaker 1: what a great bonus it was for the 49ers to
- 41:33Speaker 1: open their season with a blowout win over the Rams,
- 41:37Speaker 1: get the extra time off coming back from Australia, and
- 41:41Speaker 1: then be able to come home in week two and
- 41:44Speaker 1: face the Dolphins. So what a great bonus. They should
- 41:49Speaker 1: roll over the Dolphins. Now, they did lose Stribling, their rookie,
- 41:54Speaker 1: who they were counting on this year. I mean, it
- 41:57Speaker 1: wouldn't be a 49ers team if you weren't already talking
- 42:00Speaker 1: about injuries. They lose Stribling. They lost their backup tight end.
- 42:04Speaker 1: I think he's on IR. He might have had surgery, Tongas,
- 42:07Speaker 1: with an MCL injury. And that hurts. I mean, those
- 42:11Speaker 1: guys were supposed to contribute. Supposed to be big time
- 42:15Speaker 1: contributors because the 49ers always play their second tight end.
- 42:18Speaker 1: And Tongas was good when he had to fill in
- 42:20Speaker 1: for Kittle last year. And of course, dribbling is a
- 42:22Speaker 1: kid that, you know, they were expecting to come in,
- 42:25Speaker 1: play right away. So they didn't have to lean on
- 42:27Speaker 1: Debo Samuel. They didn't have to lean on Christian Kirk
- 42:30Speaker 1: so much. They can take a little pressure off Mike Evans,
- 42:34Speaker 1: but that's not the case. Now they used Evans really
- 42:37Speaker 1: creatively against the Rams. They played him in a slot
- 42:39Speaker 1: a little bit. They kind of turned him into a
- 42:42Speaker 1: movable possession receiver as opposed to a guy who just
- 42:45Speaker 1: lines up at the X and just beats people downfield
- 42:48Speaker 1: on overs and crossers and contested catches like he did
- 42:51Speaker 1: in Tampa Bay. But that's because Shanahan's right. And he's
- 42:55Speaker 1: one of the best at what he does. And he
- 42:57Speaker 1: probably is, you know, giving Evans good matchups in his offense.
- 43:03Speaker 1: And I'm sure Evans is happy about it. And right
- 43:05Speaker 1: now Evans is healthy and they should have plenty with
- 43:09Speaker 1: Evans and George Kittle probably have his role expanded now
- 43:13Speaker 1: in week two, as he continues to come back. from
- 43:15Speaker 1: the Achilles and they should have more than enough to
- 43:18Speaker 1: beat a dolphins team. That's already bad. And then wound
- 43:21Speaker 1: up losing a good rookie that they had lost the kid,
- 43:26Speaker 1: the linebacker, whose name is escaping me right now. But
- 43:30Speaker 1: they're all, I mean, the dolphins are, are a mess.
- 43:33Speaker 1: Chop Robinson had a concussion. So he'll be out. It's,
- 43:37Speaker 1: it's going to be a long year for the Miami dolphins.
- 43:40Speaker 1: So I would expect the 49ers to roll in this game.
- 43:43Speaker 1: They're a good survivor pool pick. for this week. And
- 43:47Speaker 1: then last Sunday night game, you get the Colts at
- 43:51Speaker 1: the Chiefs. The Chiefs obviously come home now, or they're
- 43:58Speaker 1: home and they're facing the Colts. Colts are coming off
- 44:01Speaker 1: a bad loss in week one. Very non-competitive game against Baltimore.
- 44:07Speaker 1: And now they face a Chiefs team that has to
- 44:09Speaker 1: feel rejuvenated. Now, I knew the Chiefs were going to
- 44:13Speaker 1: play differently this I know some people involved with the Chiefs.
- 44:16Speaker 1: I could tell what they were doing in their offseason.
- 44:19Speaker 1: They understand that they've got a lot of young kids
- 44:23Speaker 1: on defense. They're playing a lot of, yeah, they're playing
- 44:25Speaker 1: a rookie corner. He had an interception in the first game,
- 44:27Speaker 1: top 10 pick. They got a rookie defensive tackle. They're
- 44:31Speaker 1: still waiting for Justin Simmons, their second year left tackle,
- 44:33Speaker 1: to be healthy. He didn't even play against the Broncos,
- 44:36Speaker 1: which is even more of a feather in the cap
- 44:38Speaker 1: for their run game. Their receivers have not come around.
- 44:42Speaker 1: Rasheed Rice, I know he had a touchdown, but he
- 44:44Speaker 1: doesn't look like that guy. Xavier, their first-round pick from
- 44:48Speaker 1: two years ago, their speedy receiver, Xavier Watson, still kind
- 44:53Speaker 1: of making his way into the offense, really not having
- 44:56Speaker 1: an impact. I mean, they're still throwing the ball to Kelsey.
- 44:58Speaker 1: Xavier Worthy. I'm sorry, not Xavier Watson. So I know
- 45:02Speaker 1: that the Chiefs are trying to win because they have Mahomes,
- 45:06Speaker 1: they have Andy Reid, they have Spagnuolo, they have enough talent,
- 45:09Speaker 1: Chris Jones. You know, they have talent. They're always going
- 45:12Speaker 1: to try to compete and win a Super Bowl, but
- 45:14Speaker 1: they're trying to remake this team a little bit. They're
- 45:17Speaker 1: trying to remake. They're doing some different things defensively that
- 45:20Speaker 1: they feel will be better for them. They're trying to
- 45:24Speaker 1: work through their offensive line. They have two very good
- 45:26Speaker 1: offensive linemen. They've got to get the other three situated.
- 45:30Speaker 1: They've got to get Simmons back at left tackle. While
- 45:33Speaker 1: they're doing that, they've decided they're going to run the
- 45:36Speaker 1: ball more. I know that's hard to believe from an
- 45:37Speaker 1: Andy Reid team, but 23 carries for Walker, 173 yards.
- 45:41Speaker 1: That's why they spent that money to get Kenneth Walker.
- 45:45Speaker 1: It seemed weird to a lot of people that the
- 45:48Speaker 1: Chiefs of all teams would throw it all over the place.
- 45:50Speaker 1: Andy Reid spent money on a running back in the offseason.
- 45:54Speaker 1: But you got to understand, that's for this year. They're
- 45:57Speaker 1: eventually trying to get back to what they were a
- 46:00Speaker 1: couple of years ago. They're not there yet. Mahomes is
- 46:03Speaker 1: coming back from the ACL. They knew they were going
- 46:05Speaker 1: to have to play more ball control, more ground game.
- 46:08Speaker 1: All right. That's why they went out and got Walker.
- 46:11Speaker 1: That's why they're hoping their offensive line comes together. And
- 46:14Speaker 1: can they get that downfield attack going? They haven't had
- 46:17Speaker 1: it in a while. And it looks like it's going
- 46:20Speaker 1: to be a struggle for them. But they're going to
- 46:21Speaker 1: play a different style of offense this year. And for
- 46:25Speaker 1: one week, catching the Broncos on an awful week, it worked.
- 46:29Speaker 1: Can you go to 2-0 against the Colts? That would
- 46:33Speaker 1: be very, very beneficial for this team as they try
- 46:37Speaker 1: to get back to who they were. As for the Colts,
- 46:40Speaker 1: if they fall to 0-2, you got to start watching
- 46:43Speaker 1: the wagons getting circled around the head coach and the GM.
- 46:46Speaker 1: Because the owner, you know, it's not a hearsay. It's
- 46:48Speaker 1: his child now, his children, I believe. They are not
- 46:53Speaker 1: going to tolerate another losing season. They've made that very
- 46:57Speaker 1: clear that the head coach and the GM are expected
- 47:02Speaker 1: to perform, expected to win. And if they go to 0-2,
- 47:07Speaker 1: I'm sure it's going to get a little hairy up
- 47:09Speaker 1: there in the front office. Carly Ursae Gordon, that's who
- 47:14Speaker 1: the owner is. That's Jim Ursae's daughter. I mean, she's
- 47:16Speaker 1: at least the one who's making the biggest decisions. And
- 47:20Speaker 1: she has made it very clear the Colts need to
- 47:23Speaker 1: win this year. And losing your first two games, getting
- 47:27Speaker 1: embarrassed by Baltimore, and then we'll see what happens against
- 47:29Speaker 1: the Chiefs. If that were to happen, no good. Come
- 47:32Speaker 1: out of Kansas City with a win, one and one, okay.
- 47:35Speaker 1: You've held the sharks down. for a little bit here
- 47:39Speaker 1: and you can try to get things going from there.
- 47:43Speaker 1: Last thing, the Monday night game, then we'll get into
- 47:46Speaker 1: the picks. You got the giants at the Rams. I
- 47:51Speaker 1: fully expect the Rams to have just a major bounce
- 47:56Speaker 1: back from what we saw. Obviously their travel plan did
- 48:01Speaker 1: not work out very well in that 49ers game in Australia,
- 48:05Speaker 1: but they've had some time to rest. I believe they're,
- 48:08Speaker 1: for the most part, not dealing with any major injuries.
- 48:12Speaker 1: The Giants took the Cowboys by surprise. Good for them.
- 48:16Speaker 1: But the Rams cannot let the Giants come into their
- 48:19Speaker 1: home and beat them and fall to 0-2. I don't
- 48:21Speaker 1: see that happening. I do like what the Giants' game
- 48:25Speaker 1: plan was. I said last week in the preview show,
- 48:27Speaker 1: I wasn't quite sure if I understood the dynamic between
- 48:31Speaker 1: the Greg Roman offense, which he's a consultant for their offense,
- 48:37Speaker 1: And he's a run game, a zone run guy. He's
- 48:39Speaker 1: a multiple tight ends and a fullback guy. And Matt Nagy,
- 48:43Speaker 1: who's their offensive coordinator and play caller, and he's been
- 48:46Speaker 1: an 11 personnel guy. Or when they've gone to 12 personnel,
- 48:50Speaker 1: they've still thrown the ball around. But they were more
- 48:52Speaker 1: like the Jim Harbaugh, Greg Roman offense. They got Patrick
- 48:56Speaker 1: Ricard on the field as an extra blocker. They ran
- 48:59Speaker 1: the ball with Scadaboo. They ran the ball with Dart.
- 49:02Speaker 1: Dart winds up throwing three touchdowns lightly. Has a big game.
- 49:06Speaker 1: So you like what you saw from the Giants. And honestly,
- 49:08Speaker 1: the Giants fans wouldn't want to hear it. But you
- 49:11Speaker 1: go into L.A. where the Rams are seven and a
- 49:13Speaker 1: half point favorites. Give them a game. Give them a game.
- 49:16Speaker 1: Then you come out one and one. You beat the Cowboys.
- 49:18Speaker 1: So you already got a division win. You took it.
- 49:20Speaker 1: a team that's expected to be in the Super Bowl.
- 49:22Speaker 1: You gave them a little bit of a scare. Now,
- 49:23Speaker 1: that to me would be a good showing for the Giants.
- 49:28Speaker 1: That's what I would be encouraged. You go lose by 21,
- 49:31Speaker 1: everybody's going to say you're the same old Giants. Doesn't
- 49:33Speaker 1: matter what you did in week one. And as for
- 49:36Speaker 1: the Rams, lose this game and there's going to be
- 49:38Speaker 1: some real Real doubts about what's going on with that team.
- 49:41Speaker 1: Did it get way too old overnight? I don't think
- 49:44Speaker 1: they're going to lose. I think that they will win
- 49:46Speaker 1: the game. I do think that they'll probably play better
- 49:50Speaker 1: defensively than they did against the 49ers. Because although losing Garrett,
- 49:56Speaker 1: I forgot to mention, does hurt their cause. He goes
- 49:59Speaker 1: on IR. Tough for the Rams to have that happen.
- 50:03Speaker 1: But they should have more than enough to beat the Giants.
- 50:06Speaker 1: And again, they are seven point. favorites. Hey, I'm somebody
- 50:09Speaker 1: who likes to work out. I get to the gym
- 50:11Speaker 1: at least three times a week. I try to focus
- 50:14Speaker 1: on certain muscle groups, my arms, my legs. And it
- 50:17Speaker 1: used to be really frustrating for me to find jeans
- 50:20Speaker 1: that fit someone like myself who likes to work out.
- 50:23Speaker 1: Sometimes those jeans can be awkward and tight and you're
- 50:26Speaker 1: sitting in a chair and you're constantly pulling at your jeans,
- 50:29Speaker 1: trying to get them to fit you. Sometimes it feels
- 50:31Speaker 1: like you have to buy jeans that make you choose
- 50:34Speaker 1: between your waist or your thighs. But thankfully, I found
- 50:38Speaker 1: the perfect jean. It's different from all other jean companies,
- 50:42Speaker 1: especially for guys with athletic builds. They actually let me
- 50:45Speaker 1: move like a normal human being. I can bend down
- 50:47Speaker 1: and tie my shoes. I can squat to pick up
- 50:50Speaker 1: something without feeling restricted. I can actually do a full squat,
- 50:53Speaker 1: you know, bending down to pick something up without feeling
- 50:56Speaker 1: like I'm about to blow a seam. You know, the
- 50:58Speaker 1: old standard jean sizing, it wasn't designed to fit guys
- 51:01Speaker 1: who squat or deadlift, play sports, or just do anything
- 51:04Speaker 1: that actually build your legs, but the Perfect Gene is
- 51:07Speaker 1: designed for just that, for guys like me. Perfect Gene
- 51:11Speaker 1: has six fits. It includes the athletic fit, the slim,
- 51:14Speaker 1: the thick, and the thick thick, specifically built around the
- 51:17Speaker 1: reality that legs and waist don't always scale together. Right now,

- 51:43Speaker 1: gotten older, I've really tried to concentrate on my physical health,
- 51:47Speaker 1: my body, making sure I'm putting the right things in
- 51:50Speaker 1: and the healthiest things in. I've always heard about creatine.
- 51:53Speaker 1: But I wasn't really sure about using creatine supplements until
- 51:57Speaker 1: I did the research to find out what it was
- 51:59Speaker 1: really all about. That's when I found Momentous, which created
- 52:03Speaker 1: Signature Spec Creatine, their most advanced creatine ever, setting a
- 52:08Speaker 1: new standard for creatine quality. It's one of the only
- 52:11Speaker 1: creatines to be manufactured in a pharmaceutical facility using reverse
- 52:16Speaker 1: osmosis water purification and verified through an expanded six-stage testing
- 52:21Speaker 1: process with four independent agencies. They've improved the product experience
- 52:25Speaker 1: with ultra fine powder that mixes effortlessly with no grit
- 52:30Speaker 1: or clumping. Hey, look, I like a good creatine shake
- 52:33Speaker 1: in the afternoon and it's got to taste good and
- 52:36Speaker 1: be smooth. The benefits of creatine are very real. It
- 52:39Speaker 1: supports strength, power, lean muscle growth, recovery, and even improve
- 52:44Speaker 1: cognitive performance. And as I get older, all of those
- 52:47Speaker 1: things are so much more important to me than they
- 52:49Speaker 1: used to be. If you want to try Momentous Signature

- 53:15Speaker 1: to recap last week, I lost The one I won
- 53:22Speaker 1: on was the Steelers beating the Falcons. The Steelers were
- 53:26Speaker 1: six-point favorites. They covered with a seven-point win, so that
- 53:30Speaker 1: was good. I lost on the Bills-Texans game. The Texans
- 53:34Speaker 1: were getting one and a half points. They lost by five.
- 53:38Speaker 1: Lost on that to the Bills. And then I completely
- 53:41Speaker 1: lost on the Broncos. I did not anticipate the Broncos getting...
- 53:46Speaker 1: I do think we're getting points in Kansas City. Yeah,
- 53:48Speaker 1: they were getting points, but not enough as they lost
- 53:52Speaker 1: by 21 and got emasculated. So I started off at
- 53:55Speaker 1: one and two. Maybe I should just pick games where
- 53:58Speaker 1: I'm just really confident, although I was confident last week.
- 54:02Speaker 1: But maybe I should just pick against the really bad teams.
- 54:05Speaker 1: I think that's what I'm going to start doing more
- 54:07Speaker 1: to assure myself of a better record. So let's start
- 54:10Speaker 1: with Browns and Buccaneers. The Bucs are eight and a
- 54:13Speaker 1: half point favorites. They cover. I think the Browns are
- 54:16Speaker 1: that bad. The Bucs are at home. I say this
- 54:19Speaker 1: quite a bit. It's very difficult for teams that play
- 54:22Speaker 1: in the Northeast, the Midwest, where it does start to
- 54:25Speaker 1: get a little brisk at night, a little 50s and
- 54:27Speaker 1: 60s to go down and deal with that Tampa Bay
- 54:30Speaker 1: humidity and heat. So I don't know if the Browns
- 54:33Speaker 1: are traveling early or anything to get acquainted with it
- 54:37Speaker 1: like the Eagles did last year. But it does wear
- 54:40Speaker 1: teams out and the Browns are already undermanned. So give
- 54:43Speaker 1: me the Bucs. Covering the eight and a half. I
- 54:48Speaker 1: am going to also go again. You got to look
- 54:51Speaker 1: for bad teams. And unfortunately, sometimes the bad teams play
- 54:56Speaker 1: the bad team. So you don't really know what to expect.
- 55:00Speaker 1: I am going to take the Packers against the Jets.
- 55:04Speaker 1: I know they're on the road. I think they're better
- 55:07Speaker 1: than what they showed against the Vikings. I also think
- 55:09Speaker 1: the Jets were a product of a little bit of
- 55:11Speaker 1: a week one surprise against Titans. If the Packers can't
- 55:14Speaker 1: go in and beat the Jets by four or more points,
- 55:18Speaker 1: then their issues are bigger than even I thought. So
- 55:21Speaker 1: I'll take the Packers, giving three and a half to
- 55:24Speaker 1: the Jets, and give me the Chargers to bounce back
- 55:29Speaker 1: over the Raiders. They're six and a half point favorites.
- 55:33Speaker 1: They were embarrassed in week one. They're going to come
- 55:34Speaker 1: home with something to prove. And I like them to
- 55:37Speaker 1: win pretty big over the Raiders. So give me the
- 55:38Speaker 1: Chargers over the Raiders for my third game. All right,
- 55:41Speaker 1: that's going to do it for this week's NFL Weekly
- 55:43Speaker 1: Preview show. And as I say every week, I think
- 55:47Speaker 1: I forgot to tell you last week, please enjoy your
