Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous podcast
- 0:03Speaker 1: with on our radio.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Hello, Ben, Welcome to our recap episode of Grand Season.
- 0:12Speaker 2: I'm kind of happy it's over. I felt nothing then.
- 0:17Speaker 2: I've never felt so little during a season, during a finale,
- 0:22Speaker 2: during a proposal. I want all your thoughts about it.
- 0:26Speaker 3: Okay, I don't disagree with you completely on the season itself.
- 0:32Speaker 3: I don't want to completely poop poo the season. However,
- 0:35Speaker 3: it's hard not to. There's a few things that maybe
- 0:37Speaker 3: we'll talk about as we recap the finale that stood
- 0:40Speaker 3: out to us this season, just some moments. I think
- 0:44Speaker 3: you're in the majority. A lot of people on social
- 0:49Speaker 3: media are talking about kind of how this season felt
- 0:52Speaker 3: like it fell short at every angle except for the finale.
- 0:55Speaker 3: It gave us a little entertainment. There were some highlight
- 0:58Speaker 3: standout moments that, yes, maybe weren't the love story that
- 1:02Speaker 3: we all celebrated him. We're celebrating the love story, But
- 1:06Speaker 3: the moments that stand out from the finale are more
- 1:09Speaker 3: of the confrontations.
- 1:11Speaker 2: Yeah, maybe I felt something I felt proud of.
- 1:14Speaker 3: Yeah, fair enough. We'll talk about the finale here. It
- 1:18Speaker 3: did feel like from our listeners and also from social
- 1:25Speaker 3: media that people did enjoy the finale. If anything, they
- 1:28Speaker 3: were glad they watched it. However, the consensus is, let's
- 1:32Speaker 3: not do these what was this? Four hours long? Three
- 1:35Speaker 3: hours long?
- 1:36Speaker 2: Three hours long? We're so over the three hour long finale,
- 1:39Speaker 2: especially when it's actually not as dramatic as they tease.
- 1:43Speaker 2: A lot of the times it lives up to the
- 1:45Speaker 2: te's this season, I don't think that like the whole
- 1:49Speaker 2: what's he gonna do in the last thirty minutes before
- 1:52Speaker 2: having to head to the car.
- 1:53Speaker 3: He's gonna break up with somebody? Guess all that, guys.
- 1:56Speaker 2: He didn't even show that much turmoil. He didn't even cry.
- 2:01Speaker 3: I think, Ashley, we've talked about it before. It is
- 2:06Speaker 3: one of one of our critiques that's been consistent for
- 2:10Speaker 3: the last few seasons. They've got to be very careful
- 2:14Speaker 3: teasing things and saying things to the audience, especially when
- 2:17Speaker 3: it comes from the host that end up not being
- 2:21Speaker 3: true because they lose the viewers trust. This is not
- 2:26Speaker 3: a historic ending. This was nothing. If you break it
- 2:30Speaker 3: down past all the stuff, it wasn't that different than
- 2:33Speaker 3: any other season we've had when it comes to how
- 2:37Speaker 3: a season ends. I think they have to be very
- 2:40Speaker 3: careful when Jesse says this is the most historic ending
- 2:45Speaker 3: or this is a historic moment in the franchise for
- 2:48Speaker 3: it not being now, we just go, well, what was it?
- 2:50Speaker 3: What happened?
- 2:52Speaker 2: Well, what happened is he made a decision and he
- 2:57Speaker 2: said thanks to Letia that did not allow with the
- 3:00Speaker 2: decision that he made. That is something we'll get into
- 3:02Speaker 2: a second. But I do want to talk about how
- 3:04Speaker 2: they invited you to be part of this live three
- 3:06Speaker 2: hour Finally. You were supposed to be on the panel.
- 3:09Speaker 2: You were supposed to be in the place of either
- 3:11Speaker 2: Gary Charity or Clayton because all of them basically said
- 3:16Speaker 2: I love you to multiple people. You were apparently the
- 3:19Speaker 2: og of this, that's what they wanted to do on
- 3:21Speaker 2: the panel. You decided not to go.
- 3:23Speaker 3: Yeah, it's not they asked, And I'm always thankful when
- 3:27Speaker 3: the show asks for us to return. It's fun for
- 3:30Speaker 3: us to return a lot of time.
- 3:31Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yeah. I don't know if I'll ever return again,
- 3:33Speaker 2: though it makes me feel sad. I can't figure out
- 3:36Speaker 2: a place where I would fit return. Yeah.
- 3:39Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm kind of in the same spot. It's fun
- 3:40Speaker 3: to return. It's fun to see familiar faces. Is it's
- 3:44Speaker 3: exciting to be in that environment. It'd been great to
- 3:48Speaker 3: meet Grant in person, and you know, hopefully his choice
- 3:53Speaker 3: that we'll get to in just a bit. But talking
- 3:57Speaker 3: about saying I love you to two people, it just
- 4:01Speaker 3: doesn't feel like it's a part of my life anymore.
- 4:04Speaker 3: And it's also a moment that I feel like, why
- 4:08Speaker 3: am I going to talk about it if the show's
- 4:10Speaker 3: never owned up to that it happens all the time,
- 4:13Speaker 3: and they just showed it for my season and made
- 4:15Speaker 3: it a big deal, and it was. It was a
- 4:17Speaker 3: huge deal. It was accurate to my story. I'm not
- 4:19Speaker 3: mad about the editing part of it, but the way
- 4:23Speaker 3: the show just kind of threw me out there and said, Okay,
- 4:25Speaker 3: now go deal with this. This is so weird and
- 4:30Speaker 3: unexpected and they've never really like talked about it and
- 4:34Speaker 3: since then when it happens every season now. But I'm
- 4:37Speaker 3: not going to go on a panel and talk about
- 4:38Speaker 3: how I fell in love with two people because I
- 4:40Speaker 3: am married with a child. I am so happy with that.
- 4:44Speaker 3: Lauren is married with a child, Jojo is married and thriving.
- 4:49Speaker 3: Like nobody wants to see me revisit this moment and
- 4:53Speaker 3: to see a clip played and to have me have
- 4:55Speaker 3: to explain it. I don't even remember really why I
- 4:58Speaker 3: said what I said.
- 5:00Speaker 2: Mm hmm, totally. Now do you believe I don't even
- 5:05Speaker 2: believe that possibly Grant was in love with two people
- 5:09Speaker 2: because the way that he hurt Letia. I don't know.
- 5:13Speaker 3: That's long. I mean, that's a big question. Actually are
- 5:17Speaker 3: you asking me to answer that? I don't know.
- 5:19Speaker 2: I don't know, because okay, this is a difference. Sorry
- 5:23Speaker 2: to bring you into this, but.
- 5:25Speaker 3: You can bring No. Here's the deal. You can bring
- 5:28Speaker 3: me into it. You and I talk every week about
- 5:31Speaker 3: the show and our experiences. You can bring me into it.
- 5:34Speaker 3: I am not going to get a phone call for
- 5:37Speaker 3: the first time in like years, and the phone call
- 5:40Speaker 3: is like, hey, instead of like bringing you back to
- 5:41Speaker 3: talk about, you know, your time on the show and
- 5:45Speaker 3: what maybe you meant to the show and all the
- 5:47Speaker 3: you know stuff that happens with the show, We're going
- 5:49Speaker 3: to bring you back to talk about the one moment
- 5:51Speaker 3: that was the most controversial for your season, and then
- 5:55Speaker 3: just like send you away. It's gonna be a great
- 5:56Speaker 3: five minute panel. You're gonna get out there. Everybody's going
- 5:59Speaker 3: to be sick of seeing you again, and then you're
- 6:01Speaker 3: gonna leave, and that's what we're gonna do.
- 6:04Speaker 2: People aren't sick of seeing you, Ben, they don't see
- 6:06Speaker 2: you enough. They are sick of seeing Gary. There, I
- 6:09Speaker 2: said it, that's fair. They're they're honestly probably sick of
- 6:12Speaker 2: seeing Susan two. And Susan's gonna be on the new
- 6:14Speaker 2: Hulu show and then Susan's probably also gonna be on
- 6:16Speaker 2: a Bachelor in Paradise. Will around that in a second.
- 6:20Speaker 2: Maybe people just love seeing them though maybe I'm wrong. Okay,
- 6:25Speaker 2: So the difference between you and Grant is that, like
- 6:29Speaker 2: you seemed like, oh shit, oh you have in love
- 6:32Speaker 2: with two people? Oh god, what am I gonna do?
- 6:34Speaker 2: How am I gonna navigate this to you? How Like
- 6:37Speaker 2: you were in a panic and you felt guilt and
- 6:40Speaker 2: you felt so much heaviness, and he was kind of like,
- 6:45Speaker 2: I love you, I love you. Oh okay, this.
- 6:50Speaker 3: I pick you. I pick you.
- 6:52Speaker 2: You know, it wasn't what I thought I was gonna
- 6:53Speaker 2: do all season long, but I pick you, like it
- 6:57Speaker 2: was weird. And then like you know, he went into
- 6:59Speaker 2: a robot take mode when he dumbs Letia. He was
- 7:05Speaker 2: in like, Okay, well I lied to her a lot,
- 7:09Speaker 2: and now I'm going to press this button. I'm going
- 7:13Speaker 2: to get through this breakup and then I'm going to
- 7:16Speaker 2: continue with life.
- 7:18Speaker 3: Is there a question there for me?
- 7:20Speaker 2: I guess the question was like, don't you feel the difference?
- 7:23Speaker 2: Didn't you feel the difference? Like? I really feel like
- 7:26Speaker 2: he was just he did he was so detached.
- 7:32Speaker 3: Okay, I can only yeah, I don't know Grant. I mean,
- 7:36Speaker 3: we watched Grant's moment. Does it feel more detached? Yes,
- 7:40Speaker 3: it does. It feels more detached than all these other
- 7:44Speaker 3: panelists who you know, fell in love with Muscile. People
- 7:47Speaker 3: are said they did, and I think two and I
- 7:51Speaker 3: want to give credit to Lauren and Jojo here. I'm
- 7:53Speaker 3: going to try with what I'm saying. I don't know
- 7:55Speaker 3: if it's gonna make sense. I think Grant's final two
- 7:58Speaker 3: is great too. Well, don't know them that well because
- 8:02Speaker 3: I don't think.
- 8:02Speaker 2: This seems like I know Latia pretty darn well, Letia,
- 8:05Speaker 2: you do.
- 8:06Speaker 3: I do think that's fair. I will say this. I
- 8:09Speaker 3: think most people watching the season of show that I
- 8:13Speaker 3: was on as the lead, even if they didn't want
- 8:17Speaker 3: to believe it, it made sense to them on how
- 8:20Speaker 3: I got there. I think the season itself showed how
- 8:26Speaker 3: we got to that moment where all of a sudden,
- 8:28Speaker 3: I was going, I don't know what to do, Like
- 8:30Speaker 3: this is the weirdest thing I've ever experienced. Yeah, yeah, Yeah,
- 8:33Speaker 3: I think people thought it was outrageous that I said
- 8:37Speaker 3: that to two people. I get that. I understand that.
- 8:39Speaker 3: I'm not mad at people for feeling that way, but
- 8:42Speaker 3: I think deep down, when they thought about it, they're like,
- 8:44Speaker 3: it makes sense because then Jojo became so celebrated as
- 8:48Speaker 3: the Bachelor and people fell in love with her. People
- 8:51Speaker 3: loved Lauren coming off the show, Like people were like,
- 8:54Speaker 3: I get why these two people have this big of
- 8:56Speaker 3: an impact and you have this kind of feelings for
- 8:58Speaker 3: them in your life. I don't think we had that
- 9:02Speaker 3: kind of journey with Grant to this point where we're like,
- 9:06Speaker 3: I get how he got here, Like, yeah, these two
- 9:08Speaker 3: women he definitely has a connection with. I think really
- 9:11Speaker 3: we thought he has a connection with one of them
- 9:13Speaker 3: and that was the one he didn't choose, and now
- 9:16Speaker 3: we're surprised. So is it different?
- 9:20Speaker 2: I would say yes, I think he had a connection
- 9:23Speaker 2: with Juliana for sure. I know he had a connection
- 9:25Speaker 2: with Juliana, but like, I think Latia was always shown
- 9:29Speaker 2: as being his front runner, And that's.
- 9:31Speaker 3: What I'm saying. But yeah, let me be clear. My
- 9:34Speaker 3: point was not that he doesn't have a connection with
- 9:36Speaker 3: the woman that he's now engaged to. We're happy for them, like,
- 9:39Speaker 3: we don't want to take that moment away from them.
- 9:41Speaker 3: I'm just saying the show, the story of the show
- 9:45Speaker 3: didn't show that connection like they showed Latia's, and so
- 9:52Speaker 3: as a result, the viewers feel like we're playing catch
- 9:57Speaker 3: up at the very end instead of almost seeing this
- 10:02Speaker 3: story play out like like this season I was on
- 10:04Speaker 3: where they're like, I don't know what he's gonna do
- 10:06Speaker 3: because he's into both these people.
- 10:08Speaker 2: Yeah, it was almost as if they created the storyline
- 10:12Speaker 2: for TV so that there would be a twist at
- 10:14Speaker 2: the end.
- 10:15Speaker 3: Yes, that's the That's a good better way to say
- 10:17Speaker 3: it than me. It's like they almost created this twist
- 10:20Speaker 3: so that we were surprised by who he chose and
- 10:23Speaker 3: we're like, wait, that now doesn't make any sense right totally.
- 10:28Speaker 2: But I will say that the way Letia handled herself
- 10:31Speaker 2: with some like fun but yet some fun sass but
- 10:35Speaker 2: also lots of intelligence at the end between the you know,
- 10:40Speaker 2: the Ulter moment and then also when she confronts him
- 10:42Speaker 2: on the couch, like she was the bachelorette that I
- 10:45Speaker 2: feel like they've been searching for.
- 10:47Speaker 3: Yeah, and this is the season that they're not going
- 10:49Speaker 3: to have one, But it makes no sense to me
- 10:52Speaker 3: because she is the bachelorette they've been wanting for for
- 10:55Speaker 3: so long. This was her bachelorette moment, even though she knew,
- 11:00Speaker 3: especially during the live show, that there is no bachelor happening.
- 11:04Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 11:05Speaker 3: And here's an interesting thing. The viewer response typically when
- 11:10Speaker 3: somebody confronts another person on this show, or they get
- 11:13Speaker 3: angry or they get sassy, the viewer response is usually
- 11:17Speaker 3: mixed like oh, I'm so proud of them, or that
- 11:21Speaker 3: was unnecessary. Everybody was on her team here, Like everybody
- 11:24Speaker 3: was like, that was perfect, you did great. Let's go girl.
- 11:29Speaker 3: Like also, her accent came out, which was amazing.
- 11:34Speaker 2: Yeah, we heard a voice that we had never heard
- 11:37Speaker 2: of before, and I was here for it. You know
- 11:41Speaker 2: how we've been complaining for a couple of seasons that
- 11:43Speaker 2: we like felt like we didn't know the lead going
- 11:45Speaker 2: into their season. Well, we know her and I feel
- 11:49Speaker 2: attached to her.
- 11:50Speaker 3: I want to see her win. And you know what's great,
- 11:53Speaker 3: Ashley h I just I wish you were having a
- 11:56Speaker 3: Bachelor at season so bad because I think it would
- 11:58Speaker 3: bring a whole new life to the franchise. And it
- 12:00Speaker 3: feels like such an easy win for the show just
- 12:02Speaker 3: to be like, Okay, it's your story, now, let's go.
- 12:05Speaker 3: Let's like start next week and let's start filming like
- 12:07Speaker 3: they usually do the because what we know about her
- 12:11Speaker 3: right now is she is passionate, she smart, was ready,
- 12:19Speaker 3: she knows what she wants, and she wants a family.
- 12:21Speaker 3: Like one of the biggest conversations this episode was about
- 12:24Speaker 3: how she's ready for kids. How cool is it for
- 12:27Speaker 3: you know, two parents here to be watching a full
- 12:30Speaker 3: season being like she's gonna get her love story, like
- 12:33Speaker 3: she's gonna get her family. We're cheering for her to
- 12:36Speaker 3: find that person that fills that role in her life
- 12:39Speaker 3: and so that she can start this thing that she
- 12:42Speaker 3: dreams of, as she said from her heart, she's desiring kids.
- 12:46Speaker 3: I would be so all in on this. I would
- 12:48Speaker 3: be her biggest fan. I am her biggest fan. It
- 12:52Speaker 3: I don't want to take away and we're gonna get
- 12:54Speaker 3: to you know, Grant Juliana here and what we hope
- 12:57Speaker 3: for them, what we feel for them. But let's be honest.
- 13:00Speaker 3: Latia is the star of this episode of the show,
- 13:04Speaker 3: of this season. Yeah, and I am upset, and I
- 13:09Speaker 3: hope this makes a headline. I am upset that she
- 13:11Speaker 3: is not our bachelorette.
- 13:23Speaker 2: Now, how much do we pay her to go to Paradise?
- 13:27Speaker 3: None?
- 13:28Speaker 2: Wait, what do you mean you don't want her in Paradise.
- 13:30Speaker 3: I don't want to in Paradise.
- 13:31Speaker 2: I think she's got to go to Paradise because we
- 13:33Speaker 2: want to see that right and we find it in
- 13:36Speaker 2: Paradise in front of our eyes. We want to see
- 13:37Speaker 2: it one way or the other. I think she I
- 13:39Speaker 2: think they're gonna I think they're gonna get her there.
- 13:42Speaker 2: I think she's going to She needs we need a
- 13:44Speaker 2: couple of stars there, so you'll be a big star there.
- 13:48Speaker 2: There's you know, there's what's his name, Jonathan from gen
- 13:53Speaker 2: Zeason will be another star there. We have to just
- 13:55Speaker 2: pile Paradise. We have to pile up Paradise.
- 14:00Speaker 3: That's my thought.
- 14:01Speaker 2: But then we also have the Goldens and Paradise, which
- 14:03Speaker 2: is another thing. We'll talk about in a little bit,
- 14:05Speaker 2: but I do want to talk about the families for
- 14:08Speaker 2: a second. Just the family meet and greets really quick.
- 14:10Speaker 2: Grandsister said that she liked Latia since day one, and
- 14:15Speaker 2: you could tell that the mom preferred Latia over Juliana,
- 14:21Speaker 2: which to me was a sign. It was like, oh,
- 14:24Speaker 2: this is what Ben always says. They always show the
- 14:27Speaker 2: parents preferring one over the other there, and it's usually
- 14:30Speaker 2: the one that doesn't win.
- 14:31Speaker 3: Yeah. I mean, I think, you know, from my personal experience,
- 14:37Speaker 3: I don't know how much i'd read into that, because
- 14:40Speaker 3: there's questions that they can set up to make it
- 14:43Speaker 3: seem that way. There's suns they can get out typically parents,
- 14:47Speaker 3: and it feels like what his you know, mom would do.
- 14:50Speaker 3: They pretty much they try their best to walk a
- 14:53Speaker 3: very middle line here because they know that the show
- 14:56Speaker 3: is going to try to push them in one direction
- 14:57Speaker 3: or the other. And they're like, I'm not giving you
- 14:59Speaker 3: that the show can get anything out of anything they
- 15:01Speaker 3: want it. It is weird. I mean, I think we
- 15:07Speaker 3: have to look at the storytelling piece here. It did
- 15:10Speaker 3: feel like they really pushed Latia on us this episode,
- 15:13Speaker 3: and it's weird to me that they did that. Without
- 15:15Speaker 3: a Bachelorette season coming, because what is the benefit of
- 15:18Speaker 3: the show to not just make this a beautiful love
- 15:21Speaker 3: story between Juliana and Grant.
- 15:23Speaker 2: Good good point, because my biggest takeaway from this episode
- 15:26Speaker 2: was like, maybe we should do the finale in two parts.
- 15:29Speaker 2: If you guys are really into the whole three hour thing,
- 15:32Speaker 2: then maybe we do two hours on a Monday, and
- 15:36Speaker 2: then we do one hour on a Tuesday, and then
- 15:38Speaker 2: the two hour is you know, the finishing up of
- 15:41Speaker 2: the season and the dumping. Because when we got to
- 15:45Speaker 2: the proposal, I was checked out. I didn't care. I
- 15:50Speaker 2: just cared about Letia and I was so angry for
- 15:54Speaker 2: her that I couldn't switch over to happiness for the
- 15:57Speaker 2: two of them that quickly. So I say, separate them
- 16:00Speaker 2: if you're gonna create stories like you just did.
- 16:03Speaker 3: We talked about this with Andy and Charlene. Feel like,
- 16:07Speaker 3: to me, the story path was missing here. It didn't
- 16:11Speaker 3: give Grant and I want to be like as clear
- 16:14Speaker 3: as I possibly can be on this show because we're
- 16:17Speaker 3: wrapping up this season and we probably won't talk about
- 16:19Speaker 3: it too much again. We'll hopefully talk to Latia, maybe
- 16:23Speaker 3: Juliana and Grant, but it felt like they did Grant
- 16:27Speaker 3: and Juliana a disservice this episode by focusing so much
- 16:33Speaker 3: on Latia and not allowing us the space to celebrate
- 16:37Speaker 3: this new relationship, because what we were doing as viewers
- 16:41Speaker 3: were like, I'm on Latia's team here, like I'm mad
- 16:44Speaker 3: at Grant right now, something obviously happened that changed his mind.
- 16:50Speaker 3: Latia's telling us that he said all these things to
- 16:53Speaker 3: her to give her a clear like confidence that she
- 16:56Speaker 3: was going to be the one chosen at the end,
- 16:58Speaker 3: his mind switched. We don't know why, where, how, what happened?
- 17:03Speaker 3: We're lost here and now we're just meant to celebrate
- 17:06Speaker 3: this new relationship when we're still mad at Grant, And
- 17:08Speaker 3: it felt like they they gave him a disservice by
- 17:13Speaker 3: not allowing the space or the clarity for how they like,
- 17:17Speaker 3: how we got to where we got to, Uh, even
- 17:19Speaker 3: if it was messy, even if it was ugly, even
- 17:22Speaker 3: if he made mistakes, even if Ashley he did the
- 17:25Speaker 3: coin flip.
- 17:26Speaker 2: That wasn't shown, I would have felt more if we
- 17:28Speaker 2: had a coin flip. I feel like I needed the
- 17:32Speaker 2: coin flip.
- 17:33Speaker 3: At least we know how he got to this decision.
- 17:35Speaker 2: I believe the coin flip happened, even more so now
- 17:38Speaker 2: because you always said it. They wouldn't show it. But
- 17:40Speaker 2: there felt like there was a big chunk of his
- 17:43Speaker 2: decision making process that was missing because he was like, oh,
- 17:48Speaker 2: I don't know what to do. My dad came in.
- 17:49Speaker 2: He told me to follow my heart, as if it's
- 17:51Speaker 2: like the most groundbreaking advice ever. Sorry, his dad is
- 17:54Speaker 2: so sweet. I love the moments with his dad.
- 17:56Speaker 3: Yeah, but that's like revolutionary advice. His dad was probably like,
- 17:59Speaker 3: I don't know to do. Man, Like I don't go
- 18:01Speaker 3: follow your heart? Like this is weird, I know.
- 18:03Speaker 2: And then all of a sudden he saw the light.
- 18:05Speaker 2: I'm like, uh, I think you've recued. But we should
- 18:10Speaker 2: mention that the whole having a family thing seemed to
- 18:13Speaker 2: throw him off a lot more in this episode than
- 18:15Speaker 2: it ever had, and Latilla brought that up. She was like,
- 18:17Speaker 2: wait a second, now, this is something we talked about
- 18:21Speaker 2: this weeks ago and that didn't seem to be a thing.
- 18:24Speaker 2: But he really seems to want a couple years of
- 18:28Speaker 2: chill before kids.
- 18:31Speaker 3: Okay, so here to clear all this up, a few
- 18:33Speaker 3: things that happened this episode. Here's the bat that happened
- 18:37Speaker 3: this episode. It was confusing. Yet again, I don't feel
- 18:42Speaker 3: like we got even a half of the real story
- 18:47Speaker 3: that occurred throughout this season. And it did feel like Grant,
- 18:51Speaker 3: as we talked about last week, had things brought up
- 18:55Speaker 3: to him this season that were big deals and he
- 18:58Speaker 3: either chose not to listen to them. Hey Grant, I
- 19:00Speaker 3: want a family, Hey Grant, I want kids soon, and
- 19:04Speaker 3: he said that sounds awesome, like so good, let's do it,
- 19:07Speaker 3: like so happy with it. He either wasn't listening, or
- 19:12Speaker 3: he wasn't realizing the seriousness of these desires being communicated,
- 19:19Speaker 3: or he did have a revolutionary moment at some point
- 19:22Speaker 3: to go, I actually don't want that right now. And
- 19:24Speaker 3: there's one person here that hasn't asked that of me,
- 19:27Speaker 3: and so that's where I'm leaning. Because the other person
- 19:31Speaker 3: seems really confident in what they want for the future
- 19:34Speaker 3: and really passionate about what they want for the future.
- 19:37Speaker 3: But we don't get any of that as viewers. We
- 19:39Speaker 3: see none of it. And all I want, Ashley for
- 19:42Speaker 3: any season of The Bachelor is clarity, because I want
- 19:45Speaker 3: to sit with Grant if he made some mistakes along
- 19:47Speaker 3: the way, because we all get it. I also want
- 19:49Speaker 3: to celebrate Grant's great decisions like choosing somebody he loves
- 19:53Speaker 3: at the end, and they seem happy and ready to
- 19:55Speaker 3: make this thing work. But instead I just felt like
- 19:58Speaker 3: a viewer who has watched all season and then watched
- 20:00Speaker 3: three hours of an episode and still felt confused and upset.
- 20:05Speaker 3: And I don't like that.
- 20:06Speaker 2: All Right, there's something we really have to dive into,
- 20:09Speaker 2: and this is Letia's points at the end of the show.
- 20:14Speaker 2: The fact that the night before he said I love you,
- 20:16Speaker 2: I love you, I love you. You can't wait to
- 20:17Speaker 2: get engaged tomorrow. That's lot. And then the FaceTime with
- 20:24Speaker 2: her mom earlier in the season where he goes, I
- 20:26Speaker 2: want to stop that. Of course they didn't air this,
- 20:29Speaker 2: but this was a moment that didn't make air. Says
- 20:33Speaker 2: we can stop the show right now. I'm so certain
- 20:35Speaker 2: that Latia is going to be the one in the end.
- 20:38Speaker 2: Then there was things that she was respectful enough to
- 20:41Speaker 2: not bring up that were said in the fantasy suite,
- 20:44Speaker 2: which I am assuming was like you've been it, you
- 20:49Speaker 2: are it, ala Ala, And that's why she says at
- 20:53Speaker 2: the end, when did it switch within the past twelve hours,
- 20:57Speaker 2: Like how did this happen? And then he was like,
- 21:00Speaker 2: what do you mean?
- 21:00Speaker 3: Switch? Like I think he thought he was going to
- 21:04Speaker 3: get away with it, and he was like, crap, this
- 21:09Speaker 3: girl is coming after, Like she's calling me out and
- 21:12Speaker 3: I didn't realize she I didn't think she would.
- 21:16Speaker 2: Well, dude, what, Yeah, I don't know you or you
- 21:21Speaker 2: are different than I thought you were. As she said,
- 21:24Speaker 2: what do you think of this behavior?
- 21:27Speaker 3: I mean, I don't want to crush any lead girl
- 21:31Speaker 3: or guy on this show that is conflicted. I get it.
- 21:36Speaker 3: It's hard. There's a lot to process emotions and feelings
- 21:40Speaker 3: do change on a dime because you're allowing them to
- 21:44Speaker 3: You're staying open to the very end until the moment
- 21:46Speaker 3: that you say, I know what I want to do.
- 21:49Speaker 3: The interesting part about this season is it felt like
- 21:51Speaker 3: Grant was so conflicted that he really didn't know what
- 21:54Speaker 3: he wanted to do, But yet he was telling Letia
- 21:57Speaker 3: these He was giving her the reassurances and promises as
- 22:00Speaker 3: she mentioned, which makes me think that, you know what,
- 22:04Speaker 3: maybe the better path here Grant was to be honest
- 22:06Speaker 3: with these women and tell them I actually am like
- 22:10Speaker 3: having a really hard time. You don't have to go
- 22:12Speaker 3: into details like, I'm having a real hard time because
- 22:14Speaker 3: I like you the same, It's just I'm having a
- 22:16Speaker 3: really hard time, Like this is this is messy, this
- 22:19Speaker 3: is confusing to me. But it felt like he was
- 22:22Speaker 3: kind of giving the sales pitch to the Latia during
- 22:25Speaker 3: Fantasy Sweet Week, during the facetimes and saying like, no,
- 22:28Speaker 3: it's you, you have nothing to worry about, and then
- 22:31Speaker 3: blindsiding her at the end. And I don't know how
- 22:35Speaker 3: he goes from being so confident. That's what I mean.
- 22:38Speaker 3: That was my point earlier. What happened and why aren't
- 22:42Speaker 3: we seeing it? What happened Grant, that you were so
- 22:45Speaker 3: confident all season for weeks now and then all of
- 22:49Speaker 3: a sudden you switch on us, like we have no clue.
- 22:52Speaker 2: It could have been the greatest content ever to see
- 22:55Speaker 2: him like really having meltdowns over this, because the normal
- 22:58Speaker 2: person would have meltdowns over this, being like, oh my god,
- 23:00Speaker 2: I told her this. I can't believe I told her
- 23:02Speaker 2: mom that she was going to be the one that
- 23:03Speaker 2: we could stop the show. I can't believe I told
- 23:05Speaker 2: her these things. They've finished, and now I have to
- 23:07Speaker 2: tell her it's not her. He didn't even back back
- 23:10Speaker 2: off that last night by saying like, okay, that was
- 23:16Speaker 2: his opening window to show some doubt, even though he
- 23:20Speaker 2: probably had just felt like he was so far in
- 23:22Speaker 2: that he couldn't back out then, but that had set
- 23:26Speaker 2: him up for even more of a of course, backlash
- 23:28Speaker 2: from her at the altar.
- 23:40Speaker 3: Okay, let's switch gears complete left turn here, because I
- 23:43Speaker 3: think the consensus from you and I here is this
- 23:46Speaker 3: season else not to hate on Grant, but this season
- 23:51Speaker 3: felt like we were playing catch up and reading through
- 23:54Speaker 3: the lines most of the time. There was the storytelling
- 23:58Speaker 3: piece of this felt like there were things missing, and
- 24:01Speaker 3: we feel that even more now than ever when it
- 24:04Speaker 3: comes to the breakup at the very end and we're
- 24:06Speaker 3: sitting here going what just happened? Yet, there is a
- 24:11Speaker 3: new couple coming out of Bachelor Nation. It is Juliana
- 24:14Speaker 3: and Grant, and they do seem really happy together. Grant
- 24:16Speaker 3: is moving to Boston to be with her. We want
- 24:20Speaker 3: them to work, like, let's make that clear. The problem is,
- 24:24Speaker 3: unlike a lot of seasons, we it does feel hard
- 24:28Speaker 3: to like celebrate it because I in my mind, I'm
- 24:32Speaker 3: still like he hasn't really chosen like I haven't. It
- 24:36Speaker 3: was hard for me to make sense of what was
- 24:38Speaker 3: happening during this episode and then get it summarized, yeah
- 24:42Speaker 3: with this like you know proposal at the end.
- 24:45Speaker 2: Yeah. I was shocked to see them so happy on
- 24:48Speaker 2: the couch. I thought that this was bound to be
- 24:51Speaker 2: one of those couples that you were going to be like, Yeah,
- 24:53Speaker 2: we've had a hard time since the show wrapped. We did,
- 24:57Speaker 2: you know, we We've had conversations and happy a couple
- 25:02Speaker 2: of weekends that you know, had some tension, but we're
- 25:05Speaker 2: really trying to work through it. They seem all the
- 25:07Speaker 2: way happy. So maybe she's just a very understanding woman,
- 25:11Speaker 2: or as they would like to say, well well woman, yes,
- 25:15Speaker 2: how many times do we use the damn word woman?
- 25:17Speaker 3: Last night? Holy mother of God, it must have been
- 25:22Speaker 3: a thing. The Uh, we're so happy for them, Like
- 25:25Speaker 3: I want to see them, I don't. I'm not putting
- 25:27Speaker 3: this on Grant and I'm definitely not putting this on Juliana.
- 25:32Speaker 2: Uh.
- 25:33Speaker 3: It felt like it wasn't their fault, that the messiness
- 25:37Speaker 3: or the confliction or the back and forth wasn't clearly shown.
- 25:41Speaker 3: It's not their fault at all. It didn't feel like
- 25:45Speaker 3: they get a fair shot. But now that they're together,
- 25:49Speaker 3: as we do with any couple, especially while other than
- 25:53Speaker 3: like Jen and Devin were like, gen, run as fast
- 25:56Speaker 3: as you possibly can, kid, we really want to see
- 26:01Speaker 3: them work. It's an amazing thing when this show works.
- 26:03Speaker 3: Love happens from the show it has worked before. And
- 26:06Speaker 3: so to Juliana and Grant, congratulations you did it. And Juliana,
- 26:10Speaker 3: you are going to have to be understanding in this moment.
- 26:12Speaker 3: It doesn't mean that it's gonna be forever. It doesn't
- 26:15Speaker 3: mean that this season of you getting compared to or
- 26:18Speaker 3: getting talked about in the same breath as Latia is
- 26:20Speaker 3: gonna happen forever. You guys are gonna have the opportunity
- 26:23Speaker 3: to just like have a healthy, happy relationship, especially if
- 26:27Speaker 3: the two of you communicate with each other about what
- 26:29Speaker 3: happened at the end. And I'm sure you have. But
- 26:33Speaker 3: let's celebrate the two of them now, if anything, on
- 26:36Speaker 3: this podcast, because it didn't feel like we got the
- 26:38Speaker 3: chance to in a proper way last night.
- 26:42Speaker 2: Also, Letillo was like, girl, run, I know she did
- 26:47Speaker 2: say that, and I understand, like Juliana must have some
- 26:51Speaker 2: worries watching this back about his honesty or the fact
- 26:56Speaker 2: that she might be blindsided one day. I think there's
- 26:59Speaker 2: one thing to point out out more is towards the end,
- 27:02Speaker 2: he said, there's one relationship that's very serious, and then
- 27:05Speaker 2: there's one relationship that's very fun. And I think that
- 27:08Speaker 2: what Grant was thinking of at the end was who
- 27:12Speaker 2: can I now date, not who can I marry?
- 27:17Speaker 3: Well, they did talk about they're going to take things slow,
- 27:21Speaker 3: they're really happy. Let's let's hope that they work. Really
- 27:29Speaker 3: the star of last night, Letia said all the things
- 27:32Speaker 3: that everybody loved, they would love to see as the bachelor.
- 27:34Speaker 3: Att's it's unfortunate that she she's not going to get
- 27:38Speaker 3: that opportunity. Juliana and Grant, we hope you guys move
- 27:42Speaker 3: on in engagement bliss and you date really well.
- 27:47Speaker 2: We're sorry if we sound off. We're not hostile to
- 27:50Speaker 2: do your relationship goodness. No, we're a little weary of
- 27:54Speaker 2: Grant's decision making, but.
- 27:55Speaker 3: Ultimately we want to see them succeed. I mean, I
- 27:57Speaker 3: think I think what we're saying is I know what
- 28:00Speaker 3: we're saying is it didn't feel like they got a
- 28:02Speaker 3: fair shot, and it doesn't feel like this season at
- 28:04Speaker 3: times got a fair shot, and it didn't feel like
- 28:06Speaker 3: we got the full story and I don't know why.
- 28:09Speaker 3: I don't know what they were protecting us from. And
- 28:11Speaker 3: it could have been that Grant did to do a
- 28:14Speaker 3: coin flip at the end, and they're like, hey, we
- 28:16Speaker 3: can't show that because that just doesn't look good. And
- 28:18Speaker 3: so none of this is going to make sense because
- 28:20Speaker 3: we really don't know, Like, we can't show how he
- 28:22Speaker 3: actually decided who he was going to propose to at
- 28:24Speaker 3: the end. That could be two and that's probably going
- 28:27Speaker 3: to be my theory until we talked him about it.
- 28:30Speaker 2: My bad, though, I didn't mean decision making as far
- 28:32Speaker 2: as picking Juliana, Like I think that he actually did
- 28:35Speaker 2: make the best decision for himself picking Juliana. I just mean,
- 28:39Speaker 2: like his decision making and telling this litia and such
- 28:42Speaker 2: things along the way. Okay, now let's move on to
- 28:48Speaker 2: the big announcement that there will be the Golden Bachelor's
- 28:53Speaker 2: in Bachelor and Paradise. Ben, what do you think? And
- 28:57Speaker 2: Jared was hot about it? He didn't I'm not like
- 29:00Speaker 2: this idea when it was announced.
- 29:02Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, I think it's gonna get messy. I
- 29:06Speaker 3: hope this show doesn't try to cultivate relationships between the two,
- 29:10Speaker 3: Like I just if one happens, I guess like cool,
- 29:14Speaker 3: But like I hope this show doesn't produce their way
- 29:16Speaker 3: into a relationship here. I don't think that's gonna be
- 29:20Speaker 3: good for the viewership. I don't think it's what the
- 29:22Speaker 3: viewership is asking for. I don't think they've ever asked
- 29:25Speaker 3: for this kind of for Susan to date, Jonathan, I
- 29:29Speaker 3: don't think that's been a thing that anybody's ever desired.
- 29:34Speaker 3: We'll see. I can see where it'll be entertaining, and
- 29:36Speaker 3: I can see where it could work with the wisdom
- 29:38Speaker 3: being shared and the advice and kind of having that
- 29:41Speaker 3: like wise counsel and a place to like, you know, obviously,
- 29:46Speaker 3: like Susan has always been to when we go on
- 29:49Speaker 3: these trips. She's just a fun person to be around,
- 29:52Speaker 3: and she's always very like loving and caring and towards me.
- 29:58Speaker 3: So I could see where I'd be on the beach,
- 29:59Speaker 3: I'd be like, season, can we just like chill and talk,
- 30:02Speaker 3: or like, can you just help me figure this out?
- 30:06Speaker 3: I just hope there's not like relationships being formed or
- 30:09Speaker 3: forced between the two groups.
- 30:12Speaker 2: Do you see it being separate like them? I hear
- 30:15Speaker 2: there's some rumors out there that they'll be happening at
- 30:18Speaker 2: different parts of a resort, or two different resorts, so
- 30:22Speaker 2: that it's more of like a flash to the young
- 30:24Speaker 2: kids flash to the older people. I think I'm more
- 30:28Speaker 2: down for that. I do worry that we'll again be
- 30:31Speaker 2: missing a lot of storyline from both camps if that's
- 30:34Speaker 2: how they do it, unless they do, like you know what,
- 30:37Speaker 2: I be down for them doing two hours a week
- 30:41Speaker 2: of the younger people and then an hour a week
- 30:44Speaker 2: with the goldens, Like let's separate it like that.
- 30:46Speaker 3: That'd be fun.
- 30:46Speaker 2: And then like there could be some joint dates, not
- 30:50Speaker 2: like mixing of the ages, but like you know, the prom,
- 30:55Speaker 2: like they all show up to the prom together.
- 30:58Speaker 3: Yeah. I think there's a lot of ideas. We don't
- 31:00Speaker 3: know a lot, but we do know they're going to
- 31:01Speaker 3: be there. It's official together on the beach. We'll be
- 31:05Speaker 3: excited for it. We'll be watching, We'll be breaking it
- 31:06Speaker 3: down here at the Almost Famous podcast as we always do.
- 31:09Speaker 2: Yes, we will be all right. Well, guys, Ben has
- 31:12Speaker 2: got to go, but I will be doing e further
