- 0:27Speaker 1: Shadur Sanders had his pro day at Colorado. After his
- 0:32Speaker 1: pro day, Shadur Sanders, in no uncertain terms, said what
- 0:36Speaker 1: he thought of teams that would choose not to pick
- 0:40Speaker 1: him in the NFL draft. I love me his opportunity simple.
- 0:44Speaker 1: Whatever franchise want, change a franchise, and there is no
- 0:48Speaker 1: doubt who to go with. I've done it over and
- 0:50Speaker 1: over and over. So you'll be a fool, not the
- 0:52Speaker 1: pigmy who. I love that so much? You know what?
- 0:58Speaker 1: Mel kipergrees mel Kiper when he was talking on Get
- 1:04Speaker 1: Up on Tuesday, the day that his latest two round
- 1:07Speaker 1: mock draft was released, mel Kiper talked about who he's
- 1:10Speaker 1: had as QB one on his board from.
- 1:13Speaker 2: Jump He's my QB one and that way pretty much
- 1:16Speaker 2: all year. Have not changed that. Pretty much all year,
- 1:18Speaker 2: it's been Chador Sanders for me. Others now are critical.
- 1:22Speaker 2: They're wondering what kind of NFL quarterback in Gee why?
- 1:24Speaker 2: Because he doesn't have the great arm. He's not going
- 1:26Speaker 2: to run a four to six. He's not six foot four.
- 1:28Speaker 2: But when you talk about what Tom Brady was able
- 1:30Speaker 2: to do in the NFL, Chadoor Sandals will go about
- 1:33Speaker 2: his business the Saint exact way at six one and
- 1:35Speaker 2: a half to twelve. So for me in New Orleans,
- 1:37Speaker 2: ideal fit.
- 1:39Speaker 1: Mm. By the way, if we mentioned the fact that
- 1:41Speaker 1: Shoulditer Sanders trains with Tom Brady too. Listen, I've I've
- 1:47Speaker 1: been banging the shoulder Sanders drum for a while. If
- 1:51Speaker 1: the Saints don't draft him, I'm not gonna be heartbroken.
- 1:53Speaker 1: If he's there at nine they take him, I'll be pumped.
- 1:56Speaker 1: I Mean, I've been very clear. When you're as bad
- 1:58Speaker 1: as the Saints are and you need every I'm gonna
- 2:01Speaker 1: be okay with whatever they do at nine. Except there's
- 2:03Speaker 1: two scenarios I'll not be okay with. One is drafting
- 2:06Speaker 1: or running back. And it's not that I don't think
- 2:08Speaker 1: Ashon Genty's a good player, it's that when you're the Saints,
- 2:11Speaker 1: you're nowhere close to competing, and no position deteriorates and
- 2:14Speaker 1: depreciates faster than running back. You're not going to be
- 2:16Speaker 1: a contender while Genty's on your roster. There's no sense
- 2:19Speaker 1: in drafting him. And by the way, your offensive line stakes.
- 2:21Speaker 1: So that's one and two is trading up. Those are
- 2:24Speaker 1: the two things from nine. Those are the two things
- 2:27Speaker 1: I'm not okay with. You want to take best available
- 2:29Speaker 1: at nine, come back in at the end of round
- 2:31Speaker 1: one to take a quarterback, Okay, Like I'd be good
- 2:33Speaker 1: with that. But mel Kiper in his latest mock draft,
- 2:41Speaker 1: does in fact have the New Orleans Saints with the
- 2:43Speaker 1: ninth pick taking Colorado quarterback should Or Sanders, and he
- 2:47Speaker 1: notes that the Sanders do not go to the Giants.
- 2:49Speaker 1: There aren't a lot of landing spots for him in
- 2:51Speaker 1: the top ten. He could slide. Maybe a sat A
- 2:54Speaker 1: team could trade up for him. Maybe the Saints who
- 2:56Speaker 1: have nine picks could trade back in a Round one
- 2:59Speaker 1: for Sanders somewhere along the way. There's a lot of
- 3:01Speaker 1: ways that that could happen. Listen, I have been pretty
- 3:07Speaker 1: consistent here with my thoughts on Shouldher Sanders. There's a
- 3:10Speaker 1: lot he checks a lot of boxes. He has been
- 3:14Speaker 1: a winning quarterback. He was one of the most accurate
- 3:19Speaker 1: quarterbacks in college football, completing seventy four percent of his passes.
- 3:22Speaker 1: This past season, he took Colorado from one win to
- 3:27Speaker 1: four wins to nine wins. He did it with no
- 3:30Speaker 1: semblance of a defense and getting the holy hell kicked
- 3:32Speaker 1: out of him every single game. No quarterback in twenty
- 3:35Speaker 1: twenty three was sacked more than should Ur Sanders, and
- 3:37Speaker 1: you never heard him calling out his lineman or anything
- 3:39Speaker 1: like that. Oh, by the way, he's also rich and famous.
- 3:42Speaker 1: You always wonder what's gonna happen with the guy when
- 3:44Speaker 1: he gets to the NFL and has fame and money. Well,
- 3:47Speaker 1: Shouldhur Sanders had fame and money his whole life, certainly
- 3:49Speaker 1: his college career. Don't really worry about it. So I
- 3:53Speaker 1: think he checks a ton of boxes. I'd be pumped
- 3:55Speaker 1: if they drafted him. By the way, here was mel
- 3:58Speaker 1: Kiper walking through the scenario of how should Sanders could
- 4:02Speaker 1: be there on the board at nine for New Orleans.
- 4:04Speaker 2: Yeah, first of all Cleveland and the Giants Grant getting
- 4:07Speaker 2: the best players in the GIRAFT at two and three.
- 4:09Speaker 2: That would be Travis Hunter and Abdul Carter passing on
- 4:12Speaker 2: the quarterback there with cam Ward going number one. That
- 4:15Speaker 2: gets Shadore down in New Orleans. Remember I had Shador
- 4:17Speaker 2: going three and then Jackson Dart at nine. So really
- 4:21Speaker 2: what I'm talking about here is the Saints new head
- 4:23Speaker 2: coach Kellen Moore, Dome team Atlanta isn't at Dome, Carolina,
- 4:27Speaker 2: Tampa Bay, good Weather, Shador Sanders I think would be ideal.
- 4:30Speaker 2: It would be a perfect fit going to New Orleans
- 4:33Speaker 2: and be able to get that going. That's going the
- 4:35Speaker 2: head coach comes in and he wants to hand pick
- 4:37Speaker 2: his quarterback.
- 4:38Speaker 1: I'm good with drafting a quarterback. And I think some
- 4:43Speaker 1: of the pushback that have had from Saints fans about
- 4:46Speaker 1: the possibility of Shadur And by the way, like I
- 4:48Speaker 1: want to be really clear here, I'm not I'm not
- 4:52Speaker 1: pounding the table saying this guy is gonna change your organization,
- 4:56Speaker 1: you gotta take him at nine. I'm not pounding the
- 4:58Speaker 1: table insisting that. But if they go through their scouting
- 5:01Speaker 1: and their evaluation and they do love him, and he's
- 5:04Speaker 1: there at nine and you take him, I'd be excited
- 5:06Speaker 1: about that. I'm not sure I believe they're going to
- 5:09Speaker 1: do it because the New Orleans Saints have been in
- 5:11Speaker 1: existence since nineteen sixty seven and they've used the first
- 5:14Speaker 1: round pick on a quarterback one time. You know that
- 5:16Speaker 1: we've been through it. It's one of those things like
- 5:18Speaker 1: when people say, well, maybe they'll trade back. Mickey Loomis
- 5:21Speaker 1: has been the GM for a quarter century. You know
- 5:23Speaker 1: how many times he's traded back. Never, Why do you
- 5:27Speaker 1: think he's going to start now. It's not in his DNA,
- 5:29Speaker 1: it's just naming what he does. Oh, he'll packets picks
- 5:31Speaker 1: and move up, but he ain't move him back. So
- 5:35Speaker 1: until you see it, whill you really believe it. I'll
- 5:37Speaker 1: believe it when I see it sort of thing. But
- 5:39Speaker 1: here's the thing about Sanders or any quarterback. Yes, of
- 5:43Speaker 1: course there is risk at that position. For me, it's
- 5:47Speaker 1: all about managing risk. It's why I keep saying, like
- 5:49Speaker 1: comparing the late round picks at quarterback to the nickel slots,
- 5:52Speaker 1: you have low risk and a potential high reward if
- 5:55Speaker 1: you hit like Dak in round four Cousins in round five,
- 5:58Speaker 1: or Brady in round six, or Party in round seven,
- 6:01Speaker 1: Russ in round three, which is a little bit more
- 6:04Speaker 1: of a risk with round three, but still point being like,
- 6:08Speaker 1: I can tolerate. Like, if you want to take Quinn
- 6:10Speaker 1: yours as an early late day two, early day three, sure,
- 6:13Speaker 1: I'm pumped about that. Jackson Dart at nine, I'm not
- 6:17Speaker 1: so excited. Want to take the best player on the
- 6:19Speaker 1: board at nine and then Dart at forty, Great, I'm
- 6:22Speaker 1: good with that. So I'm not like insisting they got
- 6:26Speaker 1: to take Shadur because he's a transcendent player. That's not
- 6:29Speaker 1: what I'm saying. What I'm saying is I'm good taking
- 6:33Speaker 1: him at nine and taking that risk on a first
- 6:36Speaker 1: round quarterback because one thing you know about the NFL
- 6:38Speaker 1: is you're not winning at an elite level without an
- 6:41Speaker 1: elite quarterback. And the Saints have had an elite quarterback
- 6:43Speaker 1: once in their history, and there's a direct correlation to
- 6:47Speaker 1: their unwillingness to draft a quarterback and their inability to
- 6:52Speaker 1: have an elite quarterback. So if you draft a quarterback
- 6:55Speaker 1: of the first round, you at least give yourself an opportunity.
- 6:58Speaker 1: And yes, of course, there's a massive let's do this.
- 7:01Speaker 1: I went back and I wrote down every first round
- 7:03Speaker 1: pick at quarterback in the last fifteen drafts. So going
- 7:07Speaker 1: all the way back to twenty ten, this is every
- 7:10Speaker 1: quarterback that's gone in round one. Let's let's see if
- 7:13Speaker 1: we can get consensus here in the room. We're just
- 7:15Speaker 1: gonna say, is this a hit or a bust? Okay,
- 7:18Speaker 1: probably early to tell on last year, but like Caleb Williams,
- 7:22Speaker 1: probably early to tell too early. Jaden clearly. I mean
- 7:26Speaker 1: we'd say hit. But at the same time, RG three
- 7:28Speaker 1: was a Rookie of the Year. And then so let's
- 7:30Speaker 1: just say this class is TBD. Okay, all right, but
- 7:34Speaker 1: I think we can start with twenty twenty twenty three
- 7:37Speaker 1: and we can start making answers like Bryce Young, miss,
- 7:40Speaker 1: that's a miss. CJ. Stroud, h, that's a hit, Anthony Richardson, Miss,
- 7:45Speaker 1: that's a miss. Okay. Twenty two was Kenny Pickett, Miss,
- 7:48Speaker 1: that's a miss. Trevor Lawrence, he's got the second contract,
- 7:54Speaker 1: he's got to an AFC Championship game. He's a start.
- 7:56Speaker 1: He's a good starting quarterback. Zach Wilson, you'll understand that
- 7:59Speaker 1: goes miss. Trey Lance is a miss. Fields is a miss.
- 8:05Speaker 1: Mac Jones is a miss. Okay. Twenty twenty was Burrow,
- 8:09Speaker 1: which is a hit. Two. I think we'd all agree
- 8:11Speaker 1: a hit. He's a good starting qu but he's had
- 8:12Speaker 1: concussion issues, but that's not that he can't play. Uh.
- 8:15Speaker 1: Herbert is a hit. Jordan Love is a hit. Yes, okay.
- 8:19Speaker 1: Twenty nineteen, Kyler Murray hit hit. He's the starting quarterback
- 8:22Speaker 1: in the NFL. He got to the second contract. Daniel
- 8:25Speaker 1: Jones miss, Dwayne Hackins Haskins rest in peace. Miss. Yeah,
- 8:29Speaker 1: Baker Mayfield hit. I don't know that I can say
- 8:34Speaker 1: he's a hit where the Tin draft with the Tina
- 8:37Speaker 1: drafted starter now in the NFL, but he wasn't in Cleveland.
- 8:41Speaker 1: It's got to be a miss for Cleveland. Uh, Sam Dart,
- 8:44Speaker 1: I mean, let's just let's just put like a question
- 8:46Speaker 1: mark by Baker. Then for the team that drafted him,
- 8:48Speaker 1: I would agree miss. Okay, then miss Sam Darnold. Miss
- 8:53Speaker 1: Josh Allen's a hit. Yes, Josh Rusen, that's a miss. Hey, right,
- 9:00Speaker 1: he's free. Uh, Lamar Jackson. I think that's worked out
- 9:04Speaker 1: pretty well, okay.
- 9:06Speaker 2: Uh.
- 9:06Speaker 1: Mitchell Trubisky was the first quarterback taking in twenty seventeen.
- 9:10Speaker 1: Rice Patrick Mahomes, that's a hit. Yeah. And I would
- 9:13Speaker 1: say Deshaun Watson is a hit as well because he
- 9:16Speaker 1: was on the trajectory to be great. It's off the
- 9:18Speaker 1: field stuff that's led him a stray, not his play
- 9:20Speaker 1: and then injuries in Cleveland and for the team that
- 9:22Speaker 1: drafted him as well. Jared Goff, I'd say a hit. Okay,
- 9:28Speaker 1: I'm with you. He got the Rams, he got the Rams.
- 9:31Speaker 1: Hit Carson Wentz miss miss Paxton Lynch, Miss Jamis, Miss Mariota,
- 9:38Speaker 1: Miss Bortles, miss miss Manzell, Miss Teddy Bridgewater, Miss e
- 9:44Speaker 1: j Manuel, Miss Andrew Luck hit Yeah, hit r G
- 9:49Speaker 1: three Miss Ryan Tannehill. Do we give him it? He
- 9:54Speaker 1: became a starter for Tennessee, got into an AFC championship,
- 9:57Speaker 1: didn't he Yeah? Yeah, s say a hit? Oh wait?
- 10:01Speaker 1: Was he drafts about Tennessee or Miami? Miami? He was
- 10:04Speaker 1: drafted by Miami, then went to Tennessee, then miss for
- 10:06Speaker 1: the team that draft Yah, but ended up beating Okay, yeah, yeah,
- 10:10Speaker 1: Cam was a hit. Yeah. Jake Locker, that's a miss.
- 10:14Speaker 1: Blaine Gabbert, that's a miss. Christian Ponder that good lord,
- 10:19Speaker 1: that's right. Sam Bradford was a hit. Yeah, Tim Tebow's
- 10:22Speaker 1: a miss. That's every first round quarterback dating back to
- 10:25Speaker 1: twenty ten. That's one, two, three, four, five, six, seven,
- 10:29Speaker 1: eight nine, ten, eleven, twelve, thirteen, fourteen, fifteen, sixteen, seventeen, eighteen, nineteen,
- 10:33Speaker 1: twenty twenty one, two three, four, five, six, seven eight
- 10:36Speaker 1: nine thirty one two three, four, five, six, seven, eight
- 10:39Speaker 1: nine forty one two, three, four, five six. Forty seven
- 10:43Speaker 1: quarterbacks have gone to the first round in last fifteen drafts.
- 10:46Speaker 1: Were not counting last year's six, So we're counting forty one, okay,
- 10:50Speaker 1: of the forty one quarterbacks that have gone in the
- 10:53Speaker 1: first round in the last fifteen drafts, we're counting Stroud,
- 10:59Speaker 1: Lawrence Burrow, Tua, Herbert Love, Kyler, Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, Mahomes,
- 11:07Speaker 1: Deshaun Watson, Goff, Andrew Luck, cam Newton, Sam Bradford. Fifteen.
- 11:15Speaker 1: What's that math? What's fifteen divide about forty one? Fifteen? Hey, Siri,
- 11:19Speaker 1: what's fifteen divide about forty one? Siri? Didn't pay attention
- 11:23Speaker 1: to me? Thirty six thirty six percent. You got about
- 11:25Speaker 1: a one out of three shot, or you got about
- 11:27Speaker 1: one out of three shot fair it's about a about
- 11:31Speaker 1: a one third shot that you hit. Takes shoulder at nine,
- 11:35Speaker 1: probably about a sixty six percent chance you're gonna miss.
- 11:40Speaker 1: Given these numbers, about a one third shot is gonna hit. Now,
- 11:45Speaker 1: we could probably pair that down more to like, what
- 11:47Speaker 1: about guys that went one overall or top five as
- 11:49Speaker 1: opposed to someone like Pickett or t Bow that were later.
- 11:54Speaker 1: You know, the top ten guys. I'm sure you're gonna
- 11:56Speaker 1: have a higher hit rate. But there's plenty of Zach
- 12:01Speaker 1: Wilson and Trey Lance and Sam Darnold and Mitchell Trubisky
- 12:07Speaker 1: and Carson Wentz. There's plenty of those, Marito, There's plenty
- 12:09Speaker 1: of those guys out there. So yeah, I mean it's
- 12:13Speaker 1: a giant risk. But if you go up to the
- 12:19Speaker 1: plate and you don't swing the bat, you have no
- 12:21Speaker 1: chance of getting a hit. You've got to be willing
- 12:25Speaker 1: to not go up there just trying to walk. You
- 12:28Speaker 1: gotta be willing to swing the bat. So damn it,
- 12:30Speaker 1: swing the bat. You've done it once in your franchise's history.
- 12:33Speaker 1: Don't be afraid of the miss. Embrace the possibility of
- 12:37Speaker 1: the hit. What if you Land, c J. Stroud, What
- 12:42Speaker 1: if you do Land, Jayden Daniels, What if you do Land,
- 12:47Speaker 1: Trevor Lawrence or Tua or Joe Burrow or Andrew Luck
- 12:52Speaker 1: or Lamar Jackson. Yeah, it's worth it's worth the cut.
- 12:58Speaker 1: What's the worst thing that could happen? You go five
- 13:01Speaker 1: and twelve like you did with Derek Carr, take your shot,
- 13:07Speaker 1: Quit living scars while you sucked for sixty years.
