- 1:41Speaker 1: are about to get started. We are getting right into
- 1:44Speaker 1: Chiefs Seahawks. A lot of different takes on this game.
- 1:49Speaker 1: My take is that the Seattle Seahawks absolutely embarrassed the
- 1:53Speaker 1: Kansas City Chiefs. I mean, it was a coaching masterpiece
- 1:58Speaker 1: by Mike McDonald. Look, Seattle... It was a scoreless first quarter.
- 2:02Speaker 1: Seattle goes up 10-0. Darnold throws a pick at the
- 2:06Speaker 1: end of the first half. Oh my gosh, it could
- 2:09Speaker 1: have been 17-0. Darnold, I thought, actually played really, really well.
- 2:14Speaker 1: JSN also just went absolutely ballistic in the first half.
- 2:20Speaker 1: Here's how good JSN is. He's responsible for 49% of
- 2:23Speaker 1: the Seattle receiving yards this year. I thought Darnold made
- 2:26Speaker 1: really quick decisions. They showed a graphic on Sunday Night
- 2:28Speaker 1: Football how when Sam Darnold was making decisions under 2.6 seconds,
- 2:34Speaker 1: it was excellent. He had been holding the football a
- 2:37Speaker 1: lot longer this year, taking a lot of sacks, obviously
- 2:39Speaker 1: throwing a lot of interceptions. I just thought in general,
- 2:42Speaker 1: when you can play like he's playing and just getting
- 2:45Speaker 1: the ball to JSN, it's an absolute masterpiece. Let's start
- 2:49Speaker 1: on the Chiefs side of things. My biggest takeaway from
- 2:53Speaker 1: this entire game is Mahomes looks rattled. by the pressure
- 2:57Speaker 1: of Mike McDonald's defense. It is unbelievable. He does not
- 2:59Speaker 1: look himself. And multiple times in the broadcast, Chris Collinsworth
- 3:03Speaker 1: would show, or they would show Mahomes' face. And he
- 3:08Speaker 1: looked so dejected. He looked so incredibly pissed off. I mean,
- 3:12Speaker 1: he had no one helping him out. Noah Gray was
- 3:15Speaker 1: the leading receiver. Travis Kelsey got in on the action.
- 3:18Speaker 1: Then you're running back. The receivers were non-existent. You're two
- 3:22Speaker 1: tight ends. And your running back are your first three
- 3:26Speaker 1: leading receivers. Obviously, Noah Rice this game. Xavier Worthy, multiple drops,
- 3:30Speaker 1: had six targets, only three catches. Cyrus Allen, one catch.
- 3:34Speaker 1: I mean, he looked good in training camp for the guys.
- 3:36Speaker 1: And the most important thing, other than Mahomes looking rattled,
- 3:40Speaker 1: is Kenneth Walker. 36 yards rushing through the fourth quarter.
- 3:45Speaker 1: And honestly, just looked... It was unbelievable. And I don't
- 3:50Speaker 1: think it was just... The offensive line for the Kansas
- 3:53Speaker 1: City Chiefs, I think this had everything to do with
- 3:56Speaker 1: Seattle's defense. But like Kenneth Walker came into this game
- 3:59Speaker 1: averaging over 130 yards rushing and 130 total yards on
- 4:03Speaker 1: the season. And you go in and you just look
- 4:05Speaker 1: pedestrian to get your old team. Look, here's my thing.
- 4:09Speaker 1: And this is the first time it's obviously happened for
- 4:12Speaker 1: the Kansas City Chiefs. When you can make them a
- 4:15Speaker 1: one-dimensional team, meaning you put, and this is what happened today,
- 4:20Speaker 1: against the Seahawks is you put him in gun, Mahomes
- 4:22Speaker 1: in gun, and you just get back to doing that
- 4:25Speaker 1: stuff you've been doing for the first six or seven
- 4:27Speaker 1: years where people have started figuring out. The reason they
- 4:30Speaker 1: look different this year is because they were able to
- 4:33Speaker 1: get the play action. And they weren't able to get
- 4:35Speaker 1: the play action at all because there's no threat of
- 4:37Speaker 1: the run. Here's what's crazy about this defense. You're playing
- 4:39Speaker 1: in a bunch of two-eyed looks. Just no thought of
- 4:43Speaker 1: even taking– Shots down the field because you have no
- 4:47Speaker 1: one you trust at receiver. I think this is going
- 4:49Speaker 1: to be the Chiefs Achilles heel. Like, can you figure
- 4:54Speaker 1: out a way to push the football down the field
- 4:57Speaker 1: when Kenneth Walker, who has been Mr. Superman, gets shut down?
- 5:03Speaker 1: And I think what Seattle was doing, they were they
- 5:05Speaker 1: were doing a nice job of setting edges and then
- 5:07Speaker 1: rallying to the football. But once again, just just the
- 5:11Speaker 1: Chiefs were really bad on third down. They had to
- 5:13Speaker 1: go for it multiple times on fourth down. They weren't
- 5:16Speaker 1: sustaining drives. They had way less plays than the Seahawks,
- 5:22Speaker 1: so they were unable to go on. The Chiefs only
- 5:24Speaker 1: had 11 first downs. The Seahawks had 24, but only
- 5:27Speaker 1: 50 plays, 213 yards. This is one of the worst
- 5:31Speaker 1: performances from an Andy Reid coached team, and I think, obviously,
- 5:35Speaker 1: they didn't do a good job, some drops, frustration, but
- 5:39Speaker 1: it goes to the Seahawks side of things because the
- 5:42Speaker 1: Seattle Seahawks, they came into this game 3-3. They were reeling.
- 5:46Speaker 1: Sam Darnold, they throw multiple interceptions in the last two games.
- 5:50Speaker 1: But I believe McDonald, the head coach, I think he
- 5:53Speaker 1: probably had a conversation with Sam and was like, hey,
- 5:55Speaker 1: stop messing around. Stop doing this. Stop doing that. Sam
- 5:58Speaker 1: Darnold ends 20-28, 257, a touchdown, a horrible interception. Here's
- 6:04Speaker 1: the one thing that I loved about this game plan
- 6:08Speaker 1: for the Seattle Seahawks, and this is who you need
- 6:10Speaker 1: to be moving forward, is you are a running team.
- 6:13Speaker 1: 41 points. carries Emmanuel Wilson, 24 carries a hundred yards.
- 6:19Speaker 1: Sam Donald was your second leading rusher at 17. Obviously
- 6:22Speaker 1: you've had issues with the running back. They obviously lost
- 6:25Speaker 1: Kenneth Walker. Charbonnet is not back yet. I love the
- 6:28Speaker 1: game plan though. And it, and it was Sam Donald
- 6:32Speaker 1: making quick plays, Sam Donald scrambling. And the fact that
- 6:35Speaker 1: you have JSN, like he is inevitable to me. He
- 6:39Speaker 1: is so, so incredibly good. And they kept attacking the rookie,
- 6:45Speaker 1: Mansour Delane, like over and over and over. And Spags
- 6:48Speaker 1: would end up pressuring, sending the house. Here's the thing, though.
- 6:52Speaker 1: Sam Drummond was not sacked. It's because of the quick decision-making,
- 6:55Speaker 1: the scrambling in the pocket. This is who he is.
- 6:58Speaker 1: People were like, oh, he's seeing ghosts. If he can
- 7:00Speaker 1: continue to play like this, he played within himself in
- 7:03Speaker 1: the first half. Now, the interception, I mean, you have
- 7:06Speaker 1: a chance to go up 17-0. They get an almost
- 7:10Speaker 1: halfway return. They obviously... The kicker misses a field goal
- 7:14Speaker 1: for the Chiefs. Harrison Butker misses another field goal in
- 7:18Speaker 1: the fourth quarter as well. Could have made it 13-6. Anyway,
- 7:22Speaker 1: you have to throw that football early. It's an upright throw,
- 7:25Speaker 1: which means you're sending a shallow cross in front of
- 7:29Speaker 1: the safety, and you're trying to hit an upright behind.
- 7:31Speaker 1: He had both guys. You're saving two lines from the
- 7:33Speaker 1: end zone. He had both guys. Wide open was just
- 7:36Speaker 1: a little bit late. I would say that's the one
- 7:37Speaker 1: mistake in the game. That's a major mistake in the game.
- 7:42Speaker 1: The touchdown throw, I thought, was absolutely incredible to JSN.
- 7:48Speaker 1: Not only the fact that you understood it was cover
- 7:50Speaker 1: zero from Spaggs, you had an actual plan. The football
- 7:53Speaker 1: was out of your hand. The running back took two blitzers,
- 7:56Speaker 1: and you throw this over-the-top shoulder fade against Mansour Delayne,
- 7:59Speaker 1: the LSU guy. But if you saw the replay, JSN,
- 8:04Speaker 1: it's over his left shoulder. He catches it with both hands.
- 8:06Speaker 1: Mansour Delayne has a hand in there. He switches it mid-step.
- 8:11Speaker 1: to his left hand and they end up calling a touchdown.
- 8:14Speaker 1: It was just unbelievable. I mean, the Seahawks were, were really,
- 8:17Speaker 1: really good offensively. They were super efficient on third down
- 8:20Speaker 1: 11 of 16. And the one thing where they got
- 8:24Speaker 1: to figure it out is red zone. They were over three.
- 8:26Speaker 1: They still ended up winning 20 to three. And then
- 8:30Speaker 1: we got to talk about Mike McDonald and this defense.
- 8:34Speaker 1: It's the best defense in the league. Quite honestly, it's
- 8:36Speaker 1: not even close. They do so many things to put
- 8:39Speaker 1: you in a bind where it's so incredibly difficult to
- 8:42Speaker 1: move the football. You're sitting back there and they're playing
- 8:45Speaker 1: in two-eye safety look. And they have six guys in
- 8:48Speaker 1: the box. Imanware is playing like this nickel slot guy.
- 8:51Speaker 1: Sometimes he'll pressure. You don't know where he's at. But
- 8:54Speaker 1: they do such a good job of actually getting to
- 8:57Speaker 1: the football and actually rallying to the ball where you're thinking, oh,
- 9:01Speaker 1: I can just take shots down the field. Oh, I
- 9:02Speaker 1: can just. But they play as one and it all
- 9:05Speaker 1: has to do with coaching. I mean, this was an
- 9:08Speaker 1: impressive win for the Seahawks because with the 49ers losing,
- 9:14Speaker 1: obviously you gain a little bit more grounds. But yeah,
- 9:17Speaker 1: two unbeatens losing. I think the Seahawks, if they can
- 9:20Speaker 1: get this Sam Darnold moving forward, they are going to
- 9:24Speaker 1: be a very, very tricky team. Now it's back to
- 9:26Speaker 1: the drawing board for the Chiefs. Who knows what's going
- 9:27Speaker 1: to happen? But yeah, big time win. for the Seattle Seahawks.
- 9:32Speaker 1: All right, let's get into the next game of the day.
- 9:35Speaker 1: And this was the most surprising game that we have
- 9:38Speaker 1: seen today, including over Chiefs and Seahawks and all these
- 9:42Speaker 1: other games. The 49ers 20, the Atlanta Falcons 29. Man,
- 9:49Speaker 1: I have some thoughts. The first one is how in
- 9:51Speaker 1: the world do the Falcons win this game? Well, I'll
- 9:55Speaker 1: tell you, it's injuries and turnovers for the San Francisco 49ers. 49ers.
- 10:00Speaker 1: They are absolutely decimated by injuries. I believe that no
- 10:05Speaker 1: Mike Evans out there really hurt them. Brock could not
- 10:10Speaker 1: get into a rhythm. Here's my thing too. When you're
- 10:13Speaker 1: decimated by injuries, you can't turn it over four times.
- 10:16Speaker 1: You can't have the turnovers that they had and still
- 10:20Speaker 1: expect to win the game. You're minus four on turnover margin.
- 10:24Speaker 1: That's the only thing you have to do is take
- 10:28Speaker 1: care of the football in the red zone especially. Look,
- 10:33Speaker 1: you only had two interceptions, Brock Purdy, coming into this game.
- 10:37Speaker 1: And then you throw to almost three, to be completely
- 10:40Speaker 1: honest with you. You have a fumble, first of all,
- 10:42Speaker 1: not you, but you fumble in the red zone, okay?
- 10:45Speaker 1: You have an interception in the red zone. You have
- 10:48Speaker 1: an interception on third and nine, almost red zone turn.
- 10:52Speaker 1: You're driving, and this Jeff Oldbrick defense is sort of
- 10:55Speaker 1: a bend, don't break. You have stuff going your right way.
- 10:58Speaker 1: CMC gets hurt. I thought Kalen Black played really well.
- 11:03Speaker 1: And I think the interception on third and nine, the
- 11:05Speaker 1: Brock Purdy one, I think there's a little over two
- 11:08Speaker 1: minutes left in the game. It's a third and nine one,
- 11:12Speaker 1: and they absolutely completely confuse you. And I think that's
- 11:17Speaker 1: the thing I'm looking at this and I'm saying like,
- 11:19Speaker 1: oh man, like they had a double A gap mug.
- 11:22Speaker 1: They end up dropping out a D tackle or a linebacker.
- 11:25Speaker 1: He throws it right to him. He has a slant
- 11:27Speaker 1: route open on the left side. And it's just like,
- 11:31Speaker 1: you knew they were gonna eventually lose one. Like they
- 11:34Speaker 1: weren't going undefeated by any stretch of imagination. But when
- 11:38Speaker 1: you turn the football over four times, I mean, I'm
- 11:42Speaker 1: honestly surprised it wasn't more than nine points. To be
- 11:45Speaker 1: completely honest with you. The biggest thing, too, is like
- 11:49Speaker 1: offensively for the 49ers, when you don't have Mike Evans,
- 11:52Speaker 1: Brock Purdy holds on to the football. He was sacked
- 11:54Speaker 1: twice today. I think he was only sacked like five
- 11:56Speaker 1: or six times coming into this game. So you get
- 11:59Speaker 1: a third of your sacks in the season coming this game. Look,
- 12:01Speaker 1: the Falcons pass rush. They were getting after him. I
- 12:05Speaker 1: thought the offensive line, though, was looking at it. And
- 12:09Speaker 1: it wasn't like it was pressure after pressure. It wasn't
- 12:13Speaker 1: like it was a lot of disguise. It wasn't like
- 12:14Speaker 1: it was all this, but the offensive line struggled to
- 12:17Speaker 1: me today. And look, it's a very good Falcons pass
- 12:19Speaker 1: rush team. Kalen Black looked well. And then you just
- 12:24Speaker 1: want to go over to the other side of the
- 12:28Speaker 1: 49ers team, and that's the defense. Raheem Morris got completely outcoached,
- 12:34Speaker 1: in my opinion, by Kevin Stefanski. Kevin Stefanski, nothing crazy.
- 12:38Speaker 1: I mean, if you look at yards, right? The Falcons
- 12:42Speaker 1: only had 295 total yards. They were 33% on third down.
- 12:48Speaker 1: So they did their job. They were actually two and
- 12:50Speaker 1: five on third down. So you look at this in,
- 12:53Speaker 1: or sorry, two for five in the red zone, but
- 12:55Speaker 1: you look at this game plan and they didn't get
- 12:58Speaker 1: any takeaways. And that was something Kevin Cervantes, I was
- 13:01Speaker 1: watching some of the pregame stuff. That was something Kevin
- 13:03Speaker 1: Cervantes said, hey, we have to do a better job.
- 13:05Speaker 1: We can't just give them points. We felt like we
- 13:08Speaker 1: had to score 30 to win. Well, guess what? Atlanta
- 13:10Speaker 1: scored 29. Um, this isn't a sky is falling moment
- 13:15Speaker 1: for the 49ers whatsoever. You don't have to worry about that.
- 13:18Speaker 1: I do think that Brock Purdy showed that he's human.
- 13:22Speaker 1: We had been on this and we've been doing these
- 13:24Speaker 1: quarterback rankings about, you know, these top six quarterbacks on
- 13:28Speaker 1: the breakdown that's coming out tomorrow on my channel where
- 13:30Speaker 1: we rank them. We go through different ones. We're still
- 13:32Speaker 1: going to break them down because there are some throws
- 13:34Speaker 1: that Brock Purdy is going to want back. There are
- 13:36Speaker 1: some throws where, you know, you're checking it down and
- 13:38Speaker 1: you're doing this and you're trying to do a little
- 13:40Speaker 1: too much. This is the first time I've seen him
- 13:43Speaker 1: do that. Sorry, I'm a little sick if I'm coughing.
- 13:48Speaker 1: But that was the first game, really, I felt like
- 13:51Speaker 1: Brock was trying to do a little bit too much.
- 13:52Speaker 1: All right, let's go to the Falcons side of things
- 13:54Speaker 1: because this is a really interesting team. This is a
- 13:57Speaker 1: really winnable division in the NFC South. I feel like
- 14:00Speaker 1: everyone's continuing to lose. I know the Bucs won today.
- 14:03Speaker 1: Saints lost as well. Panthers lost. The Falcons, to me,
- 14:07Speaker 1: they can be a sneaky good team if they just
- 14:09Speaker 1: have a little bit of consistency on their team. One week,
- 14:13Speaker 1: they look unbeatable and they're beating unbeatens at home, doing
- 14:17Speaker 1: the dirty bird. And then the next week, they're just
- 14:20Speaker 1: not playing really well. I mean, here's the thing. They
- 14:24Speaker 1: finally learned their lesson and they finally listened to us
- 14:27Speaker 1: because on this show last week, we said, hey, just
- 14:30Speaker 1: give B. John Robinson the football. B. John Robinson, what
- 14:33Speaker 1: do you know? 25 touches, 122 scrimmage yards. Here's what
- 14:37Speaker 1: I love the most about this game plan. There wasn't
- 14:40Speaker 1: anything tricky about it. It was, hey, we're going to
- 14:42Speaker 1: line up. We're going to get the big three, the
- 14:44Speaker 1: best big three in football, Pitts, London, and Bijon. And
- 14:48Speaker 1: I think they are the best big three. We're going
- 14:50Speaker 1: to get them the ball, but we're going to stay
- 14:52Speaker 1: ahead of the chains. We're going to try to move
- 14:54Speaker 1: the football. We had 10 total drives. The 49ers only
- 14:56Speaker 1: had nine. We made plays in situational football. I mean,
- 15:01Speaker 1: it's not, it's really not that hard to win in
- 15:03Speaker 1: the NFL. Now, when you have four turnovers and takeaways,
- 15:07Speaker 1: you know, you get four extra drives. And so you
- 15:09Speaker 1: expect more points. But I love the plan, especially they
- 15:13Speaker 1: had the ball. As I'm watching the third quarter, they
- 15:16Speaker 1: had the ball for 12 minutes. The 49ers defense could
- 15:19Speaker 1: not get off of the field whatsoever. Sometimes, and we've
- 15:24Speaker 1: talked about this a lot before on this show, the
- 15:25Speaker 1: best defense can be your offense. How about the third
- 15:28Speaker 1: and 17 hook and ladder? That was massive. How about
- 15:32Speaker 1: Michael Pinnock Jr.? Three total touchdowns, no interceptions. I've just
- 15:35Speaker 1: been really super impressed with his growth. He fits Savancy's
- 15:39Speaker 1: offense better than I thought he would. that under center,
- 15:42Speaker 1: the play action, the movement, he's getting a lot more comfortable.
- 15:45Speaker 1: And I've always said this about Michael Penix before, and
- 15:48Speaker 1: I think he's a much better answer than Tua right now,
- 15:51Speaker 1: is he just consistently makes the right decision. Sure, there's
- 15:54Speaker 1: going to be some balls he puts in harm's way,
- 15:56Speaker 1: but in general, he's staying ahead of the sticks. He's
- 15:59Speaker 1: making the right decisions. He's not putting the ball in
- 16:01Speaker 1: harm's way. If he needs to take a sack, he
- 16:02Speaker 1: can take a sack. He's not the most athletic guy,
- 16:04Speaker 1: but I think that's how he really gets that offense going.
- 16:06Speaker 1: And when you have, you know, Drake London, when you
- 16:10Speaker 1: have B. John Robinson, when you have Kyle Pitts, there
- 16:13Speaker 1: needs to be an offense built around those three and
- 16:15Speaker 1: understanding you're not the key part of that offense. Those
- 16:18Speaker 1: guys are. B. John Robinson is. And I think they're
- 16:20Speaker 1: starting to really learn in week seven how to win
- 16:24Speaker 1: football games. So I've been really impressed with this team specifically.
- 16:28Speaker 1: I mean, we talked about it a little bit, but
- 16:30Speaker 1: Jeff Ulbrich's defense. Have yourself a day. Finally fixed the
- 16:35Speaker 1: pass rush last year. They get back to what they're doing.
- 16:38Speaker 1: Two sacks, three takeaways, two forced fumbles. It's the first
- 16:43Speaker 1: time this year they've had multiple in all those sacks, takeaways,
- 16:46Speaker 1: forced fumbles. This is not just an offensive show. We're
- 16:48Speaker 1: going to show love to the defense. And that is
- 16:51Speaker 1: the team that won the game. That is the way
- 16:55Speaker 1: that they won the game. All right, let's get on
- 16:57Speaker 1: to the next game. Rams Raiders. How about them Rams?
- 17:02Speaker 1: This is the best they have looked this year offensively. But, man,
- 17:06Speaker 1: they tried to give it away late. It was 28-13
- 17:09Speaker 1: at one point, and the Rams are going for two
- 17:12Speaker 1: or 28-something, where Matthew Stafford ends up throwing that late interception.
- 17:16Speaker 1: Got tipped. I got you. Raiders score 14 fourth-quarter points.
- 17:22Speaker 1: But if you just look at this first half and
- 17:24Speaker 1: you look at purely just the Rams offensively, that was
- 17:28Speaker 1: the best half they have played. And defensively, I would
- 17:31Speaker 1: say that as well. But that was the best first
- 17:33Speaker 1: half they have played. All year long, 243 total yards
- 17:37Speaker 1: to 97 of the Raiders. Raiders didn't even look like
- 17:40Speaker 1: they were existing. I thought literally they were going to,
- 17:42Speaker 1: and we're going to get into it. I was like,
- 17:44Speaker 1: are we going to see Fernando Mendoza in the second half?
- 17:47Speaker 1: And how about the Rams defense too, right? We're going
- 17:50Speaker 1: to get back to Stafford, but the Rams defense until
- 17:52Speaker 1: the fourth quarter had not allowed a touchdown on like
- 17:55Speaker 1: 18 straight drives or 19 straight drives. And then you're
- 17:58Speaker 1: able to go that, the Raiders are a tough out.
- 18:01Speaker 1: This Clint Kubiak team, they're great, but you're able to
- 18:03Speaker 1: go in, after sort of an up and down season,
- 18:05Speaker 1: like you lose this, good luck making the playoffs. It's
- 18:08Speaker 1: a very difficult NFC West division. Obviously the 49ers are
- 18:11Speaker 1: leading it. The Seahawks still three and three or the
- 18:14Speaker 1: Seahawks are still, you know, alive as well. And I
- 18:17Speaker 1: just think that the Rams, here's their success. Here's where
- 18:21Speaker 1: they are turning the corner and what they want to be.
- 18:24Speaker 1: They get in a lot of 12 personnel. They get
- 18:26Speaker 1: in a lot of 13 personnel chase. What is that? Well,
- 18:29Speaker 1: the first digit one talks to the running backs on
- 18:32Speaker 1: the field, 12 one. So there's one, The second digit, two,
- 18:35Speaker 1: talks to the tight ends. Two tight ends or three
- 18:37Speaker 1: tight ends. And what that does is it gets this
- 18:40Speaker 1: defense of Raiders. If you're in 13 personnel, you're probably
- 18:44Speaker 1: going to get base defense, which means four down linemen,
- 18:47Speaker 1: three linebackers. Then you're able to throw the football down
- 18:49Speaker 1: the field on these linebackers with these tight ends. They've
- 18:52Speaker 1: been doing a lot more of it, especially without Devontae Adams' one.
- 18:56Speaker 1: Here's the thing, though. I love this game because I
- 18:58Speaker 1: thought the Rams... They ran it well enough to then
- 19:01Speaker 1: set up the play-action pass. Where you've seen McVay getting
- 19:04Speaker 1: a little bit of a blender this year is you're
- 19:06Speaker 1: trying to run it too much first. Sorry, you're trying
- 19:10Speaker 1: to play action pass first without the run game. But
- 19:12Speaker 1: how about Kyron Williams and Blake Corum? Over 150 yards
- 19:15Speaker 1: between these two. They look dynamic. They stuck with the run.
- 19:19Speaker 1: And then Matthew Stafford, too. There's been a lot of
- 19:22Speaker 1: talk about the MVP. He's not seeing it. He's not
- 19:25Speaker 1: doing this. He's not doing that. Yeah, he made this.
- 19:28Speaker 1: you know, interception that got tipped up that like, let's
- 19:31Speaker 1: be real. He played unbelievable. This game that he was,
- 19:35Speaker 1: he was finally seeing it. There's been a lot of
- 19:37Speaker 1: people on the internet saying, Hey, Matthew Stafford's not seeing it.
- 19:39Speaker 1: He's not doing this. He's not, he absolutely is seeing it.
- 19:42Speaker 1: He was uber efficient until that, obviously that tipped, um, interception,
- 19:45Speaker 1: but here's the crazy thing about him. And I played
- 19:47Speaker 1: with him for a year. He went to Highland park.
- 19:49Speaker 1: I was in South in Dallas, uh, high school. So
- 19:52Speaker 1: we'd been on each other for a while, but he
- 19:54Speaker 1: became the all time passing TD leader for both the
- 19:57Speaker 1: lions and the Rams. You can't tell me that he's
- 20:02Speaker 1: not one of the greatest to ever do it. Like
- 20:04Speaker 1: he is a first ballot hall of famer and he's
- 20:08Speaker 1: seeing it a lot better. Sean McVay and him, as
- 20:10Speaker 1: long as they're together, and if they can get Devontae back,
- 20:14Speaker 1: if they can get some of their injured key guys back,
- 20:17Speaker 1: I think they're going to be great. Aaron Donald, a
- 20:19Speaker 1: good story. Miles Garrett's got to be coming back soon.
- 20:22Speaker 1: The Rams scored on four straight touchdowns and finished out
- 20:24Speaker 1: the half. All right, let's get to the most interesting
- 20:26Speaker 1: part of the Raiders, though, because this is the one
- 20:29Speaker 1: for me, and I've said it, and I will continue
- 20:34Speaker 1: to say it. Before we get into the actual game
- 20:38Speaker 1: on what happened, Let's just look at their schedule. You
- 20:41Speaker 1: got next week, you got the Jets. Okay, seems like
- 20:44Speaker 1: a game that, I don't know, maybe Fernando Mendoza can
- 20:47Speaker 1: come in because the Jets are not very good. And
- 20:50Speaker 1: then listen to this. Listen to this. 49ers, Seahawks, Broncos,
- 20:58Speaker 1: the Browns. Chase, you said the Browns. Yes, the Browns
- 20:59Speaker 1: are 5-2. They are balling. Their schedule does not get
- 21:03Speaker 1: any easier. I really don't think that they are making
- 21:06Speaker 1: the playoffs. So what are we doing continuing to start
- 21:11Speaker 1: Kirk Cousins? It has to. And I think Kirk's played
- 21:14Speaker 1: well in the second half, in the fourth quarter. That's great.
- 21:18Speaker 1: He struggled all day long until the last 12 minutes
- 21:20Speaker 1: of the fourth quarter. But at what point do we
- 21:22Speaker 1: go to Fernando Mendoza? I think that's the thing that
- 21:24Speaker 1: you have to see here. Look, I don't like that
- 21:27Speaker 1: there's zero run game because Ashton Gentry, like where are
- 21:30Speaker 1: we going? Like 15 yards? I know he had a touchdown,
- 21:34Speaker 1: but it's bad. mind-boggling to me that you have an
- 21:40Speaker 1: offensive coordinator and offensive play caller offensive guru Clint Kubiak
- 21:44Speaker 1: that is calling these plays and you cannot get the
- 21:46Speaker 1: run game going maybe that is the reason they are
- 21:49Speaker 1: hesitant to play um the rookie and Fernando Mendoza but
- 21:54Speaker 1: the more they continue to lose the further away they're
- 21:58Speaker 1: getting from the AFC West title and quite honestly I
- 22:04Speaker 1: the chances of them making the playoffs this year, no
- 22:07Speaker 1: one ever really thought they were going to make the playoffs.
- 22:09Speaker 1: Your Raiders fans. I love you guys. I think you've
- 22:11Speaker 1: done great. You've got two weapons. You've got Trey Tucker
- 22:14Speaker 1: and Brock Bowers. Like those are the two weapons for
- 22:17Speaker 1: the Raiders. I think Trey Tucker is playing out of
- 22:19Speaker 1: his mind right now. Brock Bowers, obviously having a, a
- 22:22Speaker 1: heck of a year. You got to get Ash and
- 22:24Speaker 1: Jinji going, but I'm telling you right now, Fernando Mendoza,
- 22:26Speaker 1: let him come in here. The only thing for him that, that,
- 22:31Speaker 1: People are wondering if his game translates to the NFL
- 22:35Speaker 1: because he was in shotgun 99% of the time. He
- 22:37Speaker 1: was doing all this stuff. I thought he played really
- 22:38Speaker 1: well in the preseason. Here's the thing, and it sounds
- 22:41Speaker 1: so simple. You cannot get experience playing in this league
- 22:45Speaker 1: until you actually play. Practice reps do not matter. Training
- 22:50Speaker 1: camps do not matter. You can stay on the football
- 22:53Speaker 1: field all you want after practice, but you're not getting
- 22:56Speaker 1: any number one reps. You are currently the scout team quarterback.
- 23:01Speaker 1: And you are currently, this past week, getting ready for
- 23:04Speaker 1: the Rams-Raiders game. You are Matthew Stafford. You are not
- 23:07Speaker 1: running your own play. Sure, you're probably staying out on
- 23:09Speaker 1: the field with offensive coordinator, quarterback coach, all these guys.
- 23:13Speaker 1: Maybe you're back up to back up. I just think
- 23:17Speaker 1: that Raiders fans might not like it because I think
- 23:20Speaker 1: Kirk has actually played really well. I think Kirk can
- 23:22Speaker 1: continue to play in this league. I think he will
- 23:25Speaker 1: continue to play in this league. But you've got to
- 23:27Speaker 1: start and you've got to go with the rookie draft.
- 23:31Speaker 1: Fernando Mendoza. All right, let's take a quick break. We'll
- 23:33Speaker 1: be right back. This football season, whether you're buying tickets,
- 23:36Speaker 1: booking travel, or shopping for team gear, protect your pocket
- 23:39Speaker 1: with Visa. Tapping to pay without checking which card? Not
- 23:43Speaker 1: a pro move. Tapping to pay with Visa? That's a
- 23:46Speaker 1: pro move. Visa runs more than 500 security checks to
- 23:49Speaker 1: help identify fraud before transactions are approved, so you can
- 23:53Speaker 1: focus your defensive strategy on other things, like defending your
- 23:57Speaker 1: executive decision to order pineapple anchovy pizza for the whole
- 24:00Speaker 1: watch party or That might not be a pro move,
- 24:03Speaker 1: but paying with Visa is. Visa, the most trusted way
- 24:06Speaker 1: to pay for football fans everywhere. All right, back here
- 24:09Speaker 1: on the first read. Let's get into the very next game.
- 24:12Speaker 1: I thought this was a great game on the slate today.
- 24:15Speaker 1: Packers 17. Oh, that stinks, man. The Lions 20. How
- 24:21Speaker 1: about Jared Goff and Jordan Love? Just going back and forth.
- 24:24Speaker 1: Jared Goff, 303 yards, two touchdowns. Jordan Love, 274 yards,
- 24:28Speaker 1: two touchdowns, an interception. Multiple different turnovers in the game,
- 24:32Speaker 1: Jameer Gibbs, rarely cost it up. I think at that point, right,
- 24:37Speaker 1: there's 19 seconds left in the first half. While up 10-7,
- 24:40Speaker 1: that really hurt them. The Lions really could have run
- 24:43Speaker 1: away with this game. It was only the second turnover
- 24:45Speaker 1: all year long, which is wild to me for this
- 24:49Speaker 1: Detroit Lions team. I mean, the Lions dominated the first
- 24:52Speaker 1: half in almost every single category. Here's my thing. The Packers,
- 25:01Speaker 1: we'll start with them first. What are we doing? The
- 25:06Speaker 1: amount of penalties, the amount of missed field goals, the
- 25:10Speaker 1: amount of unforced errors, the turnovers, third and five, the
- 25:15Speaker 1: most important play in the game with two minutes left.
- 25:19Speaker 1: And the Packers jumped offsides to give the Lions a
- 25:22Speaker 1: first down and the Lions ended up getting another first
- 25:25Speaker 1: down and kicking like a chip shot, game-winning field goal
- 25:28Speaker 1: with one second left. You got to understand these NFC
- 25:32Speaker 1: North battles with the Vikings still winning and staying undefeated.
- 25:36Speaker 1: Every single game goes down to the wire and you
- 25:41Speaker 1: gotta be on your P's and Q's. It's not just office.
- 25:45Speaker 1: It's not just defense. It's not just special teams. You
- 25:48Speaker 1: got to play complimentary football. If you want a shot
- 25:51Speaker 1: to continue to play a look, I've, enjoyed the way
- 25:56Speaker 1: Jordan Love has played. I think there's been no other
- 25:58Speaker 1: quarterback in the NFL that's been let down more by
- 26:01Speaker 1: those pass catchers in the last couple years than Jordan Love.
- 26:04Speaker 1: How many drops did we see this today? How about
- 26:07Speaker 1: the Josh Jacobs? I know he had a touchdown, but
- 26:10Speaker 1: how about the Josh Jacobs drop? That wheel route where
- 26:13Speaker 1: they end up running mesh? Jordan Love sort of fades away.
- 26:16Speaker 1: He throws a dime, hits Josh Jacobs right in the hands.
- 26:20Speaker 1: And look, I get it. I get it. I'm not
- 26:22Speaker 1: just saying this game I'm going back to other games
- 26:25Speaker 1: as well. But you have a huge turnover before the
- 26:29Speaker 1: half by your defense. So your defense is playing well.
- 26:32Speaker 1: And then the decision to go for it on fourth
- 26:36Speaker 1: and one with like four minutes left in the game
- 26:38Speaker 1: of the Lions, your defense comes up again. I thought
- 26:40Speaker 1: the defense actually played pretty well against probably the best
- 26:43Speaker 1: offense in the NFL to give you a shot. When
- 26:46Speaker 1: you hold that offense at 20 points, you expect to win.
- 26:50Speaker 1: And it comes down to Quite honestly, the kicker, and
- 26:53Speaker 1: I hate saying this, kickers are people too, but Trace Mack,
- 26:57Speaker 1: two missed vehicles. And look, I know one caught like
- 27:01Speaker 1: a fingernail according to the, to the announcers and I
- 27:04Speaker 1: saw it and yeah, sure enough, but like get that
- 27:07Speaker 1: kick up high. You got to get going. I mean,
- 27:11Speaker 1: if you're, if you are LaFleur and you are Love
- 27:15Speaker 1: and you are the Packers and you're This is such
- 27:18Speaker 1: a brutal loss in so many different ways because Jordan Love,
- 27:22Speaker 1: I thought, played another incredible game. He's going to be
- 27:23Speaker 1: in my top six quarterbacks again. Josh Jacobs came back.
- 27:27Speaker 1: That was a huge storyline. Not much going in the
- 27:29Speaker 1: run game. But I just think in general, the Packers, man,
- 27:35Speaker 1: they are struggling right now. And they are a really
- 27:39Speaker 1: good team. They started off really bad. They've gone up.
- 27:42Speaker 1: They've gone up and down. they got to have a
- 27:44Speaker 1: short memory. That's the biggest thing for them. Cause I
- 27:46Speaker 1: do think they're a really good team. I think their
- 27:47Speaker 1: defense is playing a lot better than a lot of
- 27:49Speaker 1: people think. Um, but pass catch, can we please stop
- 27:52Speaker 1: dropping the football lion side of things? Thought Jared Goff, man,
- 27:57Speaker 1: if he continues to play like this, you got to
- 28:00Speaker 1: put them in MVP case. Like I, I love the
- 28:02Speaker 1: way he's doing things. I love the fact on how
- 28:07Speaker 1: they are calling their plays offensively. Jared Goff, in my opinion,
- 28:12Speaker 1: is one of the better play-action quarterbacks. He does a really,
- 28:15Speaker 1: really good job of turning his back to the defense
- 28:18Speaker 1: and understanding then to turn his eyes around once you
- 28:21Speaker 1: get at the top of your drop and understand where
- 28:23Speaker 1: safeties are, where second-level guys are. And you can only
- 28:27Speaker 1: do that if you have a run game. And Jameer
- 28:30Speaker 1: Gibbs has an absolute run game because he's balling right now.
- 28:34Speaker 1: A couple things that really stood out is Amal Ross St. Brown.
- 28:38Speaker 1: He is an absolute beast. He had 135 yards in
- 28:43Speaker 1: the first half. He finished with 153. Just continue going
- 28:47Speaker 1: back to that, Will. That's crazy. How about Tom Brady
- 28:50Speaker 1: calling the game? I mean, and saying how mad he
- 28:53Speaker 1: was about some of these unnecessary roughness calls. I think
- 28:57Speaker 1: Brady's doing a heck of a job calling the game.
- 29:01Speaker 1: But here's calling games just in general. Here's the one
- 29:04Speaker 1: thing that's just I did not understand it. four minutes left.
- 29:09Speaker 1: We've talked about already. Dan Campbell goes for it, fourth
- 29:11Speaker 1: down inside his own 25 yard line. Packers get it,
- 29:15Speaker 1: miss the field goal. They go. So he gets sort
- 29:17Speaker 1: of bailed out, but what are we doing? Like I
- 29:21Speaker 1: get there's, there's aggressive. And then I get that there's
- 29:26Speaker 1: a little bit of reckless and look, that's how he's
- 29:28Speaker 1: always been. And I think he's trying to show trust,
- 29:30Speaker 1: but that, that play where it's, it's like a counter
- 29:32Speaker 1: G where you're faking one way, going the other, it
- 29:35Speaker 1: just took way too long. Packers pulled out in gauge eight.
- 29:40Speaker 1: And here's another thing, too, about these refs. Like, I'm
- 29:43Speaker 1: with Brady. There was an awful, awful roughing the passer
- 29:49Speaker 1: penalty on the Packers by Jared Goff. Like, or on
- 29:52Speaker 1: Jared Goff. Like, it was unbelievable. Like, he barely hit him.
- 29:56Speaker 1: You know, there was another one that Brady was talking about,
- 29:58Speaker 1: the NSR Rebels, where he hit them late. Not Goff,
- 30:00Speaker 1: but one of the guys late. I just think these
- 30:02Speaker 1: refs are unbelievable. But here's the thing. Lions, good team.
- 30:06Speaker 1: Their defense, you know, they played well. I think they
- 30:10Speaker 1: got bailed out by some drops. Not a great defense, though.
- 30:14Speaker 1: Here's something. If you want to continue to go on
- 30:16Speaker 1: these runs, you can't put all the pressure on Jared Goff.
- 30:19Speaker 1: You've got to have these defense step up. But I
- 30:21Speaker 1: thought that was the most entertaining game. Thought for sure
- 30:24Speaker 1: that was going to go into OT, but it didn't.
- 30:26Speaker 1: All right, let's get to the last game of the
- 30:28Speaker 1: slate that we are talking about here. Bengals Ravens. Talk
- 30:32Speaker 1: about a story of two completely different halves. The Ravens
- 30:38Speaker 1: looked unstoppable. Tyler Huntley plays unbelievable. No Lamar Jackson, still
- 30:45Speaker 1: an ankle for the Ravens. Bengals offense didn't get going.
- 30:48Speaker 1: Joe Burrell takes over. Since he scores 35 unanswered points,
- 30:52Speaker 1: I mean, it was a great game. Tyler Huntley threw
- 30:56Speaker 1: for 298 yards in the first half. I like the
- 30:59Speaker 1: play calling. Declan Doyle was great. It's just really hard
- 31:03Speaker 1: to win a game with a backup quarterback, especially when
- 31:07Speaker 1: Derrick Henry rushes for 17 yards on 45 yards. Sorry,
- 31:11Speaker 1: 17 rushes on 45 yards against the Bengals. The Bengals
- 31:14Speaker 1: had been allowing 123 rush yards per game. Like you
- 31:17Speaker 1: can't do it. You're leading 13, nothing at home and
- 31:19Speaker 1: you end up losing it. Not a great look for
- 31:22Speaker 1: the Ravens. I just think eventually they're going to need
- 31:25Speaker 1: to get, I mean, obviously chase, right? They got to
- 31:27Speaker 1: get Lamar Jackson back. They're a good team. I don't
- 31:30Speaker 1: think they're a bad team. He needs to come back ASAP. Um,
- 31:33Speaker 1: completely disappeared in the second half though. That offense, another
- 31:37Speaker 1: bright spot, one bright spot you could say is a
- 31:39Speaker 1: flowers is still very, very good at football over 130
- 31:42Speaker 1: yards receiving. Um, Here's the thing, too, that worried me
- 31:47Speaker 1: a little bit, and we'll get into the Bengals side
- 31:48Speaker 1: of things, but this Baltimore defense, which is supposed to
- 31:52Speaker 1: be all-world, coached by Jesse Minter, the way they played
- 31:55Speaker 1: in the second half, you couldn't sniff any pressure on
- 31:58Speaker 1: Joe Burrell, and you missed so many different tackles. There
- 32:01Speaker 1: was a couple clips going viral, and I'm not calling
- 32:03Speaker 1: anyone out. There's a couple clips going viral right now
- 32:07Speaker 1: on the internet of so much of a lack of
- 32:09Speaker 1: effort by that defense in the second half. They couldn't tackle.
- 32:13Speaker 1: They couldn't do anything. They couldn't sniff pressure. And maybe
- 32:16Speaker 1: Lamar is the guy that they get going, that they're like, hey,
- 32:19Speaker 1: here's a, I don't know. This Ravens team is really, really,
- 32:24Speaker 1: I struggle to understand them. Let's go to the Bengals.
- 32:27Speaker 1: All right. First half, you looked awful. Joe Burrell had
- 32:31Speaker 1: 59 yards in the first half. You end up finishing
- 32:34Speaker 1: the game with almost 300 yards. Total passing. What, like, Chase,
- 32:38Speaker 1: what's it? Well, there's 21 fourth quarter points. The first half,
- 32:42Speaker 1: no T. Higgins anywhere to be seen. No Jamar Chase
- 32:46Speaker 1: to be seen. Joe Burrell leading rush. Bengals have no
- 32:52Speaker 1: run game. And then the second half happened. And then
- 32:58Speaker 1: a treat of receivers with T. Higgins and Jamar Chase.
- 33:03Speaker 1: I mean, it is such an unbelievable thing that T.
- 33:08Speaker 1: Higgins and Jamar Chase are on the same team. Teagan's
- 33:11Speaker 1: uncoverable in the second half. He had almost 150 yards
- 33:14Speaker 1: in the second half. And then Joe Burrow, this is
- 33:19Speaker 1: the one. He's going to be really high on my
- 33:21Speaker 1: quarterback breakdown and quarterback rankings because the way he played
- 33:24Speaker 1: in the second half is the way I know he
- 33:26Speaker 1: can play. He didn't get pressured. He moved in the pocket.
- 33:30Speaker 1: They took over, scored touchdowns on the first five possessions
- 33:34Speaker 1: of the second half. And the one thing about him
- 33:37Speaker 1: is he was pinpoint accurate getting hit. throwing the football,
- 33:39Speaker 1: a lot of out routes to Jamar Chase. There was a,
- 33:41Speaker 1: there was that route. We call it a race route.
- 33:44Speaker 1: We're in the red zone where you race to the corner. Dude,
- 33:47Speaker 1: Jamar Chase completely turned around the Ravens defensive back. He
- 33:50Speaker 1: went out, he went in, he went all over the place.
- 33:52Speaker 1: That was a beautiful throw. Multiple throws in cover two
- 33:57Speaker 1: that the Ravens were playing between the corner and the
- 33:59Speaker 1: safety on these corner routes to T Higgins, who's a
- 34:02Speaker 1: big body. You put it up there. I don't think
- 34:05Speaker 1: that when Joe Burrow is rolling, I don't know if
- 34:09Speaker 1: there's any other quarterbacks that are as accurate or that
- 34:13Speaker 1: are as good as him. They spread it around to
- 34:15Speaker 1: all their guys, four touchdowns, second half alone, throwing the
- 34:19Speaker 1: football all to different guys. That's when they're at their best.
- 34:23Speaker 1: Now that play calling Zach Taylor did a really nice job.
- 34:26Speaker 1: He was fired up on the sideline. It just takes
- 34:29Speaker 1: a lot because like when you're down 13, nothing on
- 34:30Speaker 1: the road and you're thinking like, well, what's going wrong?
- 34:33Speaker 1: It's really hard to just flip the script. And then
- 34:37Speaker 1: that's when I, felt the momentum switch. There's not a
- 34:39Speaker 1: lot of people talking about this momentum, but the momentum switch,
- 34:42Speaker 1: Bengals started to pressure more in the second half. They
- 34:44Speaker 1: got the Huntley. I just want to know what the
- 34:46Speaker 1: heck was the halftime speech at, Zach Taylor. So if
- 34:48Speaker 1: you watch the show, heard you're a big first read guy,
- 34:51Speaker 1: let us know. All right, we are going to get
- 34:55Speaker 1: to who is trending up and who is trending down.
- 34:59Speaker 1: It is probably a fan favorite on this entire block,
- 35:05Speaker 1: meaning like what we're doing. We're going to start with
- 35:06Speaker 1: trending up. And that is we're going to tell players, coaches,
- 35:11Speaker 1: teams who are trending up after week seven. And then
- 35:14Speaker 1: we're going to get into the trending down in week
- 35:17Speaker 1: seven as well. Let's start with the first one. Thursday
- 35:20Speaker 1: night game, Caleb Williams, Iceman. They beat the Pats Thursday night,
- 35:26Speaker 1: 30 to 24 to move to five and two. Caleb
- 35:29Speaker 1: went 22 of 33, 308 yards, two touchdowns, most importantly,
- 35:32Speaker 1: zero interceptions. How about this on the season? 1,020 yards,
- 35:36Speaker 1: five touchdowns, one pick, 71% completion rate. The Bears also
- 35:43Speaker 1: rushed for 120 yards and two touchdowns. Here's the thing
- 35:46Speaker 1: about Caleb Williams, why I'm so smitten on him. You
- 35:49Speaker 1: go back, you win, you come back from that hamstring injury,
- 35:52Speaker 1: you play really well against the Falcons, then you come
- 35:54Speaker 1: home against the Pats who had been playing a lot better,
- 35:56Speaker 1: and it was the way you were able to throw
- 36:00Speaker 1: the football in the tight windows. It was the way
- 36:02Speaker 1: you were able... to throw accurately with pressure in your face.
- 36:05Speaker 1: It was the way that you took over that game.
- 36:08Speaker 1: He's playing with extreme confidence right now. I can absolutely
- 36:12Speaker 1: say with, with no doubt in my mind that Caleb
- 36:16Speaker 1: Williams continues to play like this. He's going to be
- 36:18Speaker 1: in the MVP race. Like there's no doubt in my
- 36:20Speaker 1: mind about it. It's hard press to find. And I
- 36:24Speaker 1: know it's old news, but we cover the bears here
- 36:26Speaker 1: on this channel because it was Thursday. He throws the football,
- 36:31Speaker 1: and plays the position of quarterback probably better than anyone
- 36:34Speaker 1: in this game outside Brock Purdy and maybe Josh Allen.
- 36:38Speaker 1: He is having a hell of a season. The Bears
- 36:42Speaker 1: are an absolute unit offensively. Ben Johnson's doing a heck
- 36:45Speaker 1: of a job. All right, let's get to the second
- 36:48Speaker 1: trending up. I never thought I would say this. Producer
- 36:52Speaker 1: Kent put it in my ear, and I was like, man,
- 36:54Speaker 1: let's do this. AFC North, except the Ravens. You're trending down,
- 37:00Speaker 1: but we'll get to that in a second. AFC North,
- 37:02Speaker 1: how about the Browns, the Steelers, and the Bengals? Who
- 37:05Speaker 1: in their right mind thought that this would be one
- 37:06Speaker 1: of the better divisions in all of football? The Browns
- 37:09Speaker 1: are now in first place again. I mean, it's unbelievable.
- 37:16Speaker 1: Five and two. They beat Tennessee. The Browns have fought.
- 37:20Speaker 1: How about this? This is the difference between having an
- 37:24Speaker 1: experienced quarterback, having not an experienced quarterback, having a little
- 37:27Speaker 1: bit of belief, having about momentum. Browns have five game-winning drives.
- 37:31Speaker 1: One in each of their wins. Each of their wins,
- 37:34Speaker 1: they have five game-winning drives. How about that? And then
- 37:38Speaker 1: Steelers win a nasty game in Paris. I mean, that
- 37:40Speaker 1: was probably one of the more boring games, 16-10 over
- 37:43Speaker 1: the Saints. But they win. Rodgers, 19-30, 212 yards, a touchdown,
- 37:47Speaker 1: zero interceptions. He took three sacks because he's old. Jalen
- 37:51Speaker 1: Warren continues, continues to ball out 18 rushes, 101 yards.
- 37:55Speaker 1: And then the Bengals, we just talked about, and their
- 37:57Speaker 1: pass offense is humming. After a bad first half versus
- 38:01Speaker 1: the Ravens, it's going to get really interesting down the stretch.
- 38:04Speaker 1: Who do I think is going to come out? I mean,
- 38:06Speaker 1: I don't know. That's a great question. The Bengals look
- 38:09Speaker 1: really good. Steelers are great. I just don't know if
- 38:11Speaker 1: the Browns have it in them to continue doing all
- 38:14Speaker 1: this stuff. But it is such a good story with
- 38:17Speaker 1: Deshaun Watson. All right, let's get to topic three. Guys, J.J. McCarthy,
- 38:23Speaker 1: Cam Scadaboo. How about that? They win 27-21 in overtime
- 38:29Speaker 1: in Houston, and J.J. McCarthy goes absolutely ballistic. 20 of 28,
- 38:35Speaker 1: 252 yards, took three sacks. No interceptions, more importantly, against
- 38:40Speaker 1: a decent Houston defense who's sort of gotten struggled a
- 38:43Speaker 1: little bit, so we'll just say they're okay. Zero touchdowns.
- 38:46Speaker 1: But the way J.J. McCarthy, and I've said this because
- 38:50Speaker 1: I know Matt Nagy's offense, he is a very similar
- 38:53Speaker 1: fit to this offense. as Jackson Dart uses his legs enough.
- 38:57Speaker 1: Some of these throws too. It's not just like, we're
- 38:59Speaker 1: not just stat watching. We're actually breaking down these throws.
- 39:02Speaker 1: Some of these throws to the sideline off his back foot,
- 39:05Speaker 1: still mechanically, not as great as I want them to be,
- 39:08Speaker 1: but like, don't let the giants and JJ McCarthy get
- 39:12Speaker 1: hot for two and one that ties like, you know,
- 39:15Speaker 1: kissing your sister. Like, what are we doing here? However,
- 39:19Speaker 1: another part of the duo, it used to be Jackson Dart,
- 39:21Speaker 1: Cam Scatterwood. How about JJ McCarthy, Cam Scatterwood. Now, Skadibu
- 39:25Speaker 1: was benched his last game. That's right. So what does
- 39:28Speaker 1: he do? He comes back. and the Giants in general, Singletary,
- 39:32Speaker 1: their run game was excellent, but he comes back, 17 rushes,
- 39:35Speaker 1: 124 yards and a touchdown. These two right now, the
- 39:38Speaker 1: way Matt Nagy is calling the plays, Isaiah Likely, Malik Neighbors,
- 39:42Speaker 1: they're getting going. Don't let them get hot. Don't let
- 39:45Speaker 1: them get a little bit of confidence in an NFC
- 39:47Speaker 1: East that is extremely winnable. I don't trust anyone in
- 39:51Speaker 1: the NFC East. The Eagles, oh my gosh. The Cowboys,
- 39:54Speaker 1: oh my gosh. The Commanders, oh my gosh. If you
- 39:56Speaker 1: continue to win and continue to just get something, their
- 39:59Speaker 1: defense plays just good enough. I mean, this is easily
- 40:02Speaker 1: their best one of the year. Super impressed with J.J.
- 40:04Speaker 1: McCarthy and the Giants. All right, let's get to everyone's
- 40:07Speaker 1: favorite trending down. We're going to start with the Ravens.
- 40:11Speaker 1: We said it. We don't need to say a lot.
- 40:13Speaker 1: The Ravens lose 35-13 to the Bengals. They're 4-3, 1-2
- 40:15Speaker 1: at home. Home 0-2 in the division. You should be
- 40:20Speaker 1: winning home games. You should be winning division games. Lamar Jackson,
- 40:25Speaker 1: come back right now. Huntley played great. He was sacked
- 40:29Speaker 1: four times. You know, you got to think, will Lamar
- 40:31Speaker 1: escape those throws? Maybe, maybe not. Defense 2, you give
- 40:35Speaker 1: up 35 unanswered after shutting out the Bengals in the
- 40:38Speaker 1: first half. What happened there? I just think they got
- 40:40Speaker 1: to get their ducks in a row. There's not going
- 40:42Speaker 1: well for them. Moving on. The Texans, oh, man. It's
- 40:48Speaker 1: like season's probably over, but you lose to the Giants
- 40:51Speaker 1: at home after winning the last two. I just can't
- 40:54Speaker 1: get over the lack of run game, and I can't
- 40:56Speaker 1: get over how bad your defense is. And they've struggled,
- 40:58Speaker 1: and I hate saying how bad. It's just they're not
- 41:00Speaker 1: clicking right now. C.J. Stroud had played really well going
- 41:03Speaker 1: into this game, but he only passed for 153 yards.
- 41:06Speaker 1: Nine touchdowns, only one interception on the season, though. He's
- 41:10Speaker 1: not the problem. The problem is the lack of run game.
- 41:13Speaker 1: I mean, Jalen Noel is Houston's leading receiver for 334 yards,
- 41:17Speaker 1: but where is this run game going? It'll be interesting
- 41:21Speaker 1: to see what kind of changes. I don't think D'Amico
- 41:22Speaker 1: Ryans is on the hot seat whatsoever, but we've got
- 41:26Speaker 1: to figure out what's going on with this defense. He
- 41:29Speaker 1: traded for Marvin Harrison Jr., receiver room, sort of stuck. Defense,
- 41:35Speaker 1: disappointing to say the least. Only three interceptions and three
- 41:38Speaker 1: fumble recoveries on the year. I mean, yes, you have
- 41:40Speaker 1: probably the best rusher in all of football, Will Anderson,
- 41:43Speaker 1: who has seven and a half sacks. You're getting pressure,
- 41:46Speaker 1: but you're not getting takeaways. That's a huge deal for
- 41:49Speaker 1: the Texans. And then finally, it'll be quick, the Raiders. Man,
- 41:55Speaker 1: you guys started so well. Kirk Cousins started so hot.
- 41:57Speaker 1: Now we're calling, I'm calling for Fernando Mendoza to get going.
- 42:01Speaker 1: Just got to find a way, play the Jets. You
- 42:05Speaker 1: got to get a win. You got to get a win.
- 42:07Speaker 1: I think you go with Fernando Mendoza. All right, let's
- 42:09Speaker 1: get to the next game balls. That's right. We got
- 42:14Speaker 1: a good ball winner. And, you know, I just decided
- 42:16Speaker 1: to break the rules a little bit. That's why you're
- 42:18Speaker 1: seeing Kevin O'Connell right there on the screen, because I'm
- 42:21Speaker 1: giving the good ball winner to the Minnesota Vikings. They
- 42:24Speaker 1: are six and oh, they come from behind to beat
- 42:28Speaker 1: the Colts 16 to 10 home win. Colts just fired
- 42:32Speaker 1: Chris Ballard. So they were maybe playing a little bit,
- 42:35Speaker 1: you know, better than I think. But In general, here's
- 42:38Speaker 1: the story of the year for the Minnesota Vikings. Four
- 42:42Speaker 1: sacks for their defense, seven tackles for loss, ten quarterbacks hits.
- 42:47Speaker 1: Harrison Smith, I feel like he's been playing forever, had
- 42:49Speaker 1: an interception. Your defense is carrying you. I mean, the
- 42:52Speaker 1: fact that you're 6-0 right now, and the fact is,
- 42:57Speaker 1: I think Kyler Murray is actually playing pretty well. He's
- 42:59Speaker 1: played in four games. Listen to these stats. He's averaging
- 43:01Speaker 1: like 150 yards a game. 662 yards, two touchdowns, two interceptions.
- 43:06Speaker 1: He's been sacked nine times, only 20 rushes for 93 yards,
- 43:11Speaker 1: zero touchdowns in five games played. I thought Kyler would
- 43:14Speaker 1: be there to use his legs a little bit more.
- 43:16Speaker 1: There's been a couple of games where Kyler's really showed out,
- 43:19Speaker 1: showed that he can throw the football down the field
- 43:21Speaker 1: a couple of halves. I think the biggest thing for him,
- 43:24Speaker 1: only two interceptions. I don't know how they're doing it.
- 43:29Speaker 1: I don't know how they're other than their defense. I mean,
- 43:32Speaker 1: In today's day and age, you still need a quarterback.
- 43:35Speaker 1: You still need a run game, but their defense is
- 43:37Speaker 1: playing out of their mind. The Vikings somehow only have
- 43:39Speaker 1: 13 red zone trips this season. No clue, but only
- 43:42Speaker 1: the Browns and the Dolphins have less. The Vikings, every
- 43:45Speaker 1: single one of you, game ball, game ball, game ball,
- 43:46Speaker 1: first read, it goes everywhere. Bad ball winner. We've rarely
- 43:49Speaker 1: talked about them, but we got to do it. The
- 43:52Speaker 1: Jets and Aaron Glenn, you lose at home to a
- 43:54Speaker 1: winless Dolphins team. 28-25 was actually a pretty entertaining game.
- 43:59Speaker 1: I watched the fourth quarter of it. Jets are now
- 44:00Speaker 1: two and five. one and two at home. You get
- 44:03Speaker 1: the Raiders who are reeling. You got to get that win. Today,
- 44:07Speaker 1: believe it or not, in a loss was the most
- 44:10Speaker 1: points they have scored in a game all season. The
- 44:12Speaker 1: previous high was 24 in week three against the Lions.
- 44:15Speaker 1: Here's the one thing that made me agree to have
- 44:19Speaker 1: the Jets and Aaron Glenn as bad ball winner. In
- 44:22Speaker 1: the last two minutes under Aaron Glenn, your point margin
- 44:27Speaker 1: 107 points given up into six. You scored six. That
- 44:32Speaker 1: looks fake to me. It's not fake. We've triple checked it.
- 44:35Speaker 1: Point margin, 107 to six in the last two minutes
- 44:40Speaker 1: under Glenn. Glenn is five and 19 as Jets head coach.
- 44:43Speaker 1: It's just not going well for him. I believe his
- 44:47Speaker 1: job is probably going to get talked about this week
- 44:50Speaker 1: in New York media, but we'll keep it to that.
- 44:53Speaker 1: All right. Favorite part of the show for me, it's
- 44:56Speaker 1: a two minute drill. We keep it quick. We keep
- 44:57Speaker 1: it rolling. What we do here is we just go
- 44:59Speaker 1: through other different headlines and storylines of the week. All right,
- 45:03Speaker 1: how about this? Deshaun Watson has led five game-winning drives
- 45:06Speaker 1: this season alone. Another tough loss for the Titans. They
- 45:10Speaker 1: were up 14-0 in the first quarter. Thought they would
- 45:13Speaker 1: end up pulling it off. Didn't Titans have a quarterback
- 45:15Speaker 1: issue with Cam Ward? J.J. McCarthy got his first win
- 45:19Speaker 1: in his first start with the Giants. Very efficient, 20
- 45:22Speaker 1: of 28, 252 yards, and Cam scattered and rushed for
- 45:23Speaker 1: 124 yards on 17 carries. and a touchdown to the Giants.
- 45:30Speaker 1: I think they might be for real. How about Bo Nix?
- 45:33Speaker 1: 62-yard touchdown run. He's playing a lot better. Broncos just
- 45:36Speaker 1: feel like they continue to win. He hit 19 miles
- 45:38Speaker 1: per hour on that 62-yard touchdown run at the Cardinals.
- 45:41Speaker 1: One of six quarterbacks to have a rushing and passing
- 45:44Speaker 1: touchdown of 50-plus yards in the same season. People say
- 45:47Speaker 1: Bo Nix is washed. I just think he needs to
- 45:50Speaker 1: step into his throws. All right, Cardinals haven't won a
- 45:52Speaker 1: home game. September 14th of last year. They're good on
- 45:57Speaker 1: the road. At what point do we see Carson Beck?
- 46:00Speaker 1: You got to play him. Play him now. In fact,
- 46:02Speaker 1: play him. Continue to play him. How about Baker Mayfield
- 46:05Speaker 1: and the Buccaneers? Took it to the Panthers. Panthers are
- 46:07Speaker 1: sort of rolling with Bryce Young. They win 43-13. Bucky
- 46:10Speaker 1: Irving rushed for 106 yards. Baker had that cast or
- 46:13Speaker 1: that splint on his right thumb. It looked pretty well.
- 46:15Speaker 1: And then the Dolphins get their first win of the
- 46:17Speaker 1: season against the Jets. Geno Smith, 23-30, 287, three touchdowns.
- 46:20Speaker 1: They still lost. Guys, that is week seven. It is
- 46:25Speaker 1: a crazy week seven. Thank you so much for liking.
- 46:27Speaker 1: Thank you so much for subscribing. We've had a really
- 46:30Speaker 1: fun go at this show and we're going to continue
- 46:33Speaker 1: doing it. We'll see you next week.
