- 0:02Speaker 1: Eight oh nine thirteen ten wib A and Ask the Experts,
- 0:07Speaker 1: joined this morning by Andrew Larson. Andrew, of course comes
- 0:10Speaker 1: to us from Larsen Home Services Online Larsenhomeservices dot com.
- 0:15Speaker 1: That's l A R S O N Home Services dot com.
- 0:19Speaker 1: All one word. They're telephone number six. So eight five
- 0:22Speaker 1: three five forty three forty three. That's five three five
- 0:26Speaker 1: forty three forty three. Andrew, how are you doing this week?
- 0:30Speaker 2: I'm doing awesome like always. Yeah, I mean, I got
- 0:33Speaker 2: nothing to complain about.
- 0:35Speaker 1: It's uh, it's it's life is good, isn't it.
- 0:39Speaker 2: Life is great? And you know by the end of
- 0:41Speaker 2: the day, I might not be staring at brown grass. Yes,
- 0:44Speaker 2: this is like you know, I say, if it's going
- 0:48Speaker 2: to be cold, you might as well have some snow.
- 0:49Speaker 1: You are and for folks to know you are very
- 0:51Speaker 1: much an optimist and you are also I think one
- 0:53Speaker 1: of the one of the things that I think lifts
- 0:56Speaker 1: your spirit and why you're a very optimistic, very positive
- 0:59Speaker 1: person is you're able to help people day in and
- 1:01Speaker 1: day out through Larsen Home Services with all sorts of
- 1:04Speaker 1: different different issues in different troubles. And we're going to
- 1:08Speaker 1: talk roof coating this week. And when I think roof coating,
- 1:10Speaker 1: I think snow. But I'm gonna guess we're not talking
- 1:12Speaker 1: about snow covering.
- 1:14Speaker 2: That's a good one radio for a while.
- 1:18Speaker 1: I've tried it once in a while and dabbled here.
- 1:20Speaker 2: There's good. Yeah.
- 1:22Speaker 1: So what are we talking about though? What is the
- 1:24Speaker 1: roof coating we're talking about?
- 1:26Speaker 2: Well, so there are lots of different roof coatings, So
- 1:30Speaker 2: like when we talk about coating, we're talking about some
- 1:34Speaker 2: sort of some sort of liquid that is sprayed onto
- 1:36Speaker 2: a roof to hopefully increase the waterproofing and or the
- 1:41Speaker 2: longevity of the roof. There's been roof coatings or roof
- 1:44Speaker 2: painting around for industrial or commercial flat roofs for a
- 1:48Speaker 2: long time. You know, as most people you look up
- 1:51Speaker 2: at an industrial commercial building, typically the roofs are somewhat flat,
- 1:55Speaker 2: you know, somewhort of a EPDM or rubber membrane, and
- 1:59Speaker 2: they can get dry and they can crack over time.
- 2:01Speaker 2: Instead of replacing the whole thing, they can spray some
- 2:04Speaker 2: sort of coating on there that will help with waterproofing
- 2:08Speaker 2: or make it completely waterproof again, and sometimes just help
- 2:12Speaker 2: penetrate the membrane itself and actually make it last longer,
- 2:16Speaker 2: almost like a moisturize moisturizer, almost like facial stuff.
- 2:21Speaker 3: If anybody here's listening with little girls, like the only
- 2:27Speaker 3: thing that they care about nowadays thanks to YouTube, is
- 2:32Speaker 3: facial routines.
- 2:34Speaker 2: Sorry, I just it just went on moisturizers and I
- 2:37Speaker 2: get it every single night my nine year old. My
- 2:40Speaker 2: nine year old has to go through her nighttime the same.
- 2:43Speaker 2: But whatever, you know, I used to watch Woody Woodpecker.
- 2:46Speaker 2: They watch facial routine. Sure, Woody Woodpecker was a lot cheaper.
- 2:50Speaker 2: I will add that, so okay, sorry squirrel. But now
- 2:55Speaker 2: people are seeing a lot more stuff come to the market,
- 2:58Speaker 2: as in roof coatings or actual residential asphalt roofs. And
- 3:03Speaker 2: there's a big one out there, and I just I
- 3:05Speaker 2: don't want to like advertise for anybody, but it rhymes
- 3:10Speaker 2: and acts, but it's it's a it's a coating that
- 3:13Speaker 2: goes on the roof and it's mostly bio oils. And
- 3:18Speaker 2: what they do is they penetrate or not necessarily penetrate.
- 3:22Speaker 2: There's a slight penetration to the actual shingle and it
- 3:25Speaker 2: will actually darken or make the roof look newer. It
- 3:29Speaker 2: will also like moisturize the shingles, so when shingles start
- 3:35Speaker 2: to get dry and brittle and crack, this will actually
- 3:37Speaker 2: moisturize them, supposed to give it more life and and
- 3:44Speaker 2: and they can work. How much more life that specific
- 3:47Speaker 2: product gives I don't exactly know, But what I'm excited
- 3:50Speaker 2: to talk about is something that Larsen and Kini Home
- 3:55Speaker 2: Service that are going to start doing here soon in
- 3:59Speaker 2: the Wisconsin area. And I don't want to say the
- 4:01Speaker 2: name of the product yet because the deal isn't officially done,
- 4:05Speaker 2: but it's been a work in product, like a year
- 4:07Speaker 2: work in progress to be able to get this product
- 4:10Speaker 2: exclusive exclusively here in Wisconsin. But this product actually so
- 4:18Speaker 2: I talk a lot about our restore program because we've
- 4:22Speaker 2: always wanted to do what's best for our customer and
- 4:24Speaker 2: best for our clients, and just replacing their roof all
- 4:27Speaker 2: the time is not necessarily the best thing. I'll admit,
- 4:29Speaker 2: it's what we used to do. We showed up to
- 4:32Speaker 2: your house and it was five years old and it
- 4:34Speaker 2: was leaking, Well, you need a new roof. Well that's
- 4:37Speaker 2: not the best thing for the homeowner. It's not the
- 4:40Speaker 2: best thing for Mother Earth feed throwing all of those
- 4:44Speaker 2: shingles in landfills, and it costs a homeowner a lot
- 4:46Speaker 2: of money when it's really not necessary. If your roof's
- 4:48Speaker 2: only five years old and it's leaking, there's a fixable
- 4:52Speaker 2: problem there without replacing the entire roof, even though most
- 4:55Speaker 2: contractors are just going to want to replace the roof
- 4:57Speaker 2: because honestly, it's easier something times to just tear it
- 5:01Speaker 2: off and start over, and it's more revenue. But we've
- 5:06Speaker 2: kind of refined the restore process. Now. What we want
- 5:11Speaker 2: to add is a roof coating product that not only
- 5:16Speaker 2: can help restore your roof, but revive it. And this
- 5:20Speaker 2: product actually will penetrate into the shingles and change the
- 5:24Speaker 2: molecular makeup of the asphalt shingle on a nano level. Gosh,
- 5:29Speaker 2: I am not that smart. I read all of that,
- 5:32Speaker 2: but I have seen the experiments, I've seen the tests,
- 5:35Speaker 2: and what it does is not only does it moisturize
- 5:38Speaker 2: your roof, but it makes your roof more waterproof and
- 5:43Speaker 2: increases the elasticity of the shingles, essentially turning Class one
- 5:49Speaker 2: two three shingles for impact into more of a class
- 5:54Speaker 2: four rated shinkle so we can take a roof. Say
- 5:57Speaker 2: we come to your house, you got a leak. Your
- 5:59Speaker 2: roof is we estimate ten years old. Definitely not over
- 6:05Speaker 2: that that roof shouldn't have to be replaced. But we
- 6:08Speaker 2: can come restore and revive your roof, meaning fix the
- 6:13Speaker 2: problems that are leaking. It's typically flashing a chimney pipe, boots,
- 6:17Speaker 2: stuff like that, and then revive it with our roof coating,
- 6:21Speaker 2: giving you years of extra life with a warranty. Now,
- 6:24Speaker 2: I know a lot of roofers would listen to this
- 6:26Speaker 2: and go, oh my gosh, they're kind of setting themselves
- 6:31Speaker 2: up for failure because we're going to fix roofs that
- 6:35Speaker 2: somehow somebody could replace. Again. We're trying to do what's
- 6:38Speaker 2: best for the homeowner, and we like to think that
- 6:41Speaker 2: if we come and restore and revive your roof, years
- 6:44Speaker 2: down the road, when it's time for a new roof,
- 6:47Speaker 2: you call us back. But instead of going out and
- 6:50Speaker 2: spending fifteen twenty thirty forty, we've done some big roofs
- 6:54Speaker 2: one hundred thousand dollars one hundred thousand dollars on a
- 6:57Speaker 2: new roof when it's not necessary, not necessary what if
- 7:01Speaker 2: we can restore and revive your roof for five thousand
- 7:04Speaker 2: dollars and give you ten more years for that roof.
- 7:07Speaker 2: So that's we're super super excited about it. In the
- 7:11Speaker 2: very near future, we will have podcasts on it, We
- 7:15Speaker 2: will have videos on experiments that we do, will have
- 7:19Speaker 2: the science behind it showing people how it works. Again, now,
- 7:22Speaker 2: it's not for every roof. Some roofs are past that point.
- 7:27Speaker 2: The ones that aren't. We want to give homeowners an
- 7:30Speaker 2: option to restore and revive rather than just tear it
- 7:33Speaker 2: off and replace it if our inspection deems that that
- 7:37Speaker 2: will be effective. So again, what's best for the homeowner,
- 7:40Speaker 2: what's best for the environment, Not always to tear off
- 7:43Speaker 2: and replace, but to restore and revive that roof. I'm
- 7:47Speaker 2: giving people years. It's something I'm really excited about. Gosh,
- 7:51Speaker 2: I wanted to talk about it last week. It's not
- 7:57Speaker 2: quite done. Like I said, it's a big deal. It
- 8:01Speaker 2: is a dealership type agreement, and they don't really like
- 8:06Speaker 2: to give They don't like to give these agreements to
- 8:09Speaker 2: population centers any bigger than one hundred and fifty thousand
- 8:11Speaker 2: per contract. Oh well, I asked for four million and
- 8:17Speaker 2: it sounds like we're going to make that happen. Four
- 8:19Speaker 2: million people in population, so we're going to be able
- 8:21Speaker 2: to promote this all over the entire state and help
- 8:24Speaker 2: people everywhere. So super excited to get the info out,
- 8:26Speaker 2: get some videos out, and show people how it actually works.
- 8:29Speaker 1: Really exciting stuff. And I know one of the things
- 8:31Speaker 1: that's important to you is as we talk about bringing
