- 0:32what's going on everybody it
- 0:34is lunchtime lunch with the
- 0:35clydesdale we are back and
- 0:37I feel like I've been gone
- 0:38forever uh just missed one
- 0:41show yesterday um did the
- 0:45show for my mom's house
- 0:47sunday night with the ass
- 0:49lighting oh my gosh um
- 0:53That room was so bright and
- 0:55the paint is so light.
- 0:57And I tried to mute it every way possible.
- 1:00And man, it just was horrible.
- 1:07But yeah, did that show Sunday night.
- 1:10Just got back late yesterday evening.
- 1:14Well, late afternoon, five o'clock or so.
- 1:20And then got ready for another work week,
- 1:23man.
- 1:24So we're back.
- 1:25Before we get too much further,
- 1:26I'm going to do the dart throw.
- 1:28I did see, we were talking last week.
- 1:32someone said we should do a
- 1:32day in the life of like
- 1:34jamie and myself and
- 1:35carolyn and uh and that
- 1:39someone said that they
- 1:39wanted to know how far the
- 1:40dart throw was so after I
- 1:43throw it I'll tell you
- 1:47horrible horrible been away
- 1:49too long got to get back at it way high
- 1:53Way high,
- 1:54just almost hit the number twenty itself,
- 1:58not even on the like
- 1:59scoring part of the board.
- 2:01So I am exactly if I look straight ahead,
- 2:06I am at the line you stand
- 2:07at to throw at the dartboard.
- 2:09But then you take like a
- 2:10forty five degree angle back to my chair.
- 2:15And then I got to go up over
- 2:16the camera and all of that stuff.
- 2:18So I'm at the distance, kind of,
- 2:23maybe a little bit further
- 2:28because of the forty-five degree angle.
- 2:30But the angle just makes it tough.
- 2:33Makes it tough.
- 2:35So there's that.
- 2:37All right.
- 2:39I see Ken.
- 2:40I see he's triple twenties
- 2:43are good for fifty.
- 2:45or five Oh one.
- 2:46Uh, yeah, I, I missed the triple Ken.
- 2:48I'm a, I'm actually just,
- 2:50I actually hit the number,
- 2:52not the triple space.
- 2:55Um, so yep, that's where we're at.
- 3:00Or that's a double space on the outside,
- 3:01right?
- 3:02Triples and the one closer.
- 3:05Yeah.
- 3:05I'm anyway, I hit the number.
- 3:07I didn't even hit the circle
- 3:08with the scoring his own.
- 3:12Anyway, Ken Walters is here.
- 3:17Let's dive into some stuff.
- 3:19I have some notes on my
- 3:20phone of just some stuff
- 3:21that has been hitting me
- 3:23since Sunday night that I
- 3:25wanted to talk about.
- 3:28And on the Sevan show just a minute ago,
- 3:35yeah, triple is under double, yeah.
- 3:41I was close to the double,
- 3:42but I hit the number.
- 3:50Tough angle is what Crooks thought.
- 3:55okay don't know that
- 3:56reference I don't think
- 3:59anyway um so Ken's here he
- 4:01was on the savant show just
- 4:03like an hour ago um right
- 4:05before eleven o'clock
- 4:07Eastern time he said that
- 4:09we came pretty hard at the
- 4:10savant broadcast on Sunday
- 4:13night in the first ten
- 4:14minutes of our show
- 4:17And I just want to kind of
- 4:17clear some things up.
- 4:19One, Ken,
- 4:20you're one of my favorite dudes
- 4:21in the space.
- 4:23You share one of my best
- 4:25memories in the CrossFit space.
- 4:27Love hanging out with you.
- 4:29I don't think we came hard.
- 4:31I think the emotions of the weekend,
- 4:34when you come into that
- 4:35after seeing some great
- 4:36races and some great finishes,
- 4:38and you want to talk about it all,
- 4:40and you just kind of get into the show,
- 4:43you just kind of start
- 4:44spewing out your thoughts.
- 4:47Because of the way the
- 4:48Sunday night show is
- 4:49designed is that event ends
- 4:52and then the show comes and
- 4:53there's not a lot of time
- 4:55to kind of debrief yourself.
- 4:57You just kind of hit the show running.
- 4:59And that's kind of the beauty of it.
- 5:01It's kind of a first reaction.
- 5:04And so I'm not going to step
- 5:06back from anything I said on that show.
- 5:09What I said is what I
- 5:10believed in the moment and
- 5:12still believe mostly today.
- 5:15What I will say is I don't
- 5:18think anybody ever compared
- 5:24the broadcast that Savon
- 5:26did to the broadcast Brian Friend did.
- 5:30What I think was said was,
- 5:33and this is Jamie's words,
- 5:34and I will let her jump on
- 5:36if she wants to come in and
- 5:37jump on and talk about it.
- 5:40Her words were that we all
- 5:43shit on Brian Friend's broadcast.
- 5:46And maybe we should have
- 5:47seen how hard it was or how
- 5:49difficult it was to carry
- 5:51through a broadcast before we did that.
- 5:54Because her view was that
- 5:57while Siobhan's broadcast was good,
- 6:01it was not perfect.
- 6:02And therefore,
- 6:05maybe there should have been
- 6:06some more grace for Brian.
- 6:10And those are her thoughts
- 6:12that I'm interpreting.
- 6:14Her and I have texted a lot over the last.
- 6:17Twenty four to forty eight hours.
- 6:20And so if people took that as a comparison,
- 6:23it wasn't saying one was
- 6:24better than the other.
- 6:25It was.
- 6:27It was saying that.
- 6:30Both had their imperfections
- 6:32and maybe we should have
- 6:34given some grace to the one
- 6:35before we attempted it
- 6:37ourselves and had our own imperfections.
- 6:42um and for me a lot of what
- 6:46I I didn't have a problem
- 6:49with the content I didn't
- 6:51have a problem with them
- 6:53having audio issues those
- 6:55things are just going to be
- 6:56a known what I had a
- 6:59problem with is I missed
- 7:02and it's the same problem I
- 7:03have with road to the games
- 7:05I'm going to talk about that in a second
- 7:07is that storylines are
- 7:09everywhere and you don't
- 7:10always know what the
- 7:11storyline is until it plays
- 7:13out on the floor and so
- 7:15initially at the beginning
- 7:17of a race I just want to
- 7:19see more than one athlete
- 7:21at a time I want to see if
- 7:24if you want to talk about
- 7:27If you want to talk about
- 7:29Mason and he's there,
- 7:31just go back a little bit
- 7:33so I can see the person to
- 7:34the left and right while
- 7:35you're talking about Mason.
- 7:39I just want three lanes instead of one.
- 7:46And those are not critical
- 7:47of just Savant's podcast.
- 7:50That didn't get done with Brian's podcast.
- 7:54It didn't get done at mayhem.
- 7:56It, it didn't get done at the games.
- 7:59It's something that has been
- 8:01an issue for years and
- 8:03years and years with the
- 8:05broadcast of CrossFit.
- 8:07We seem to want to focus on
- 8:09one person at a time.
- 8:11I just,
- 8:12and I know that the full broadcast,
- 8:15breadth of the floor is
- 8:17makes it too hard to see
- 8:18everything so I'm just
- 8:20asking for like a three
- 8:21shot instead of a one shot
- 8:26and I think that listening
- 8:28to taylor yesterday he got
- 8:31that and he wants to do
- 8:32better at that and maybe
- 8:33back up a little bit and
- 8:34give us a couple people at
- 8:36a time at norcal and we'll
- 8:38see how that goes
- 8:40I totally believe that this
- 8:41group is going to self-assess.
- 8:43They're going to take some
- 8:45of the criticism,
- 8:47the constructive criticism to heart,
- 8:49and they're going to try to
- 8:50do better at NorCal.
- 8:52And we'll see how that plays
- 8:53out this weekend.
- 8:55But I do want to say I
- 8:56appreciate anybody who puts
- 8:58forth the effort and the
- 8:59time to do these broadcasts
- 9:01because without them,
- 9:03I wouldn't have got to see
- 9:04this last weekend.
- 9:06having a rough season of
- 9:07life where my wife is
- 9:08having surgeries and um and
- 9:12then we had a death in the
- 9:13family this weekend so I
- 9:15was not able to even be in
- 9:17my home this weekend I had
- 9:18to be in pennsylvania for a
- 9:20funeral uh so without
- 9:23without them I wouldn't
- 9:24have got to see the
- 9:25broadcast and I said
- 9:26repeatedly on sunday night
- 9:28I enjoyed ninety percent of the broadcast
- 9:32were just a couple small
- 9:33tweaks of the ten percent
- 9:35that I wanted to see a
- 9:36little bit different and
- 9:38they can take my opinion
- 9:40and tell me to shove it and
- 9:41that's fine or they can
- 9:42take it and do something
- 9:43with it that's fine um so
- 9:50I'm just one guy and it's
- 9:51just my opinion and they
- 9:52can take it or leave it right it is um
- 10:00Yes, I did hear this, Ken.
- 10:01NorCal will be tough.
- 10:03Seve said they have five
- 10:04less guys this weekend.
- 10:06It's going to be very, very tough.
- 10:08I also got some input from
- 10:10someone who's actually
- 10:11worked in the sports media
- 10:13business broadcasting live content.
- 10:17If you're trying to do it the cheap way,
- 10:22we just have to get the
- 10:23best we can with these
- 10:24types of productions.
- 10:27and know that the full thing
- 10:30is not going to be possible.
- 10:33There just isn't enough
- 10:34money yet in the sport that
- 10:36we have to get that full
- 10:38blown because not everybody
- 10:40has mayhem money.
- 10:43So a lot of these people are
- 10:44just going to have to go
- 10:45with a cheaper rate and
- 10:46we're going to have to
- 10:46accept that there are
- 10:48limitations to what they can do.
- 10:50And I completely understand a lot of that.
- 10:53Um,
- 10:55And I thought overall their
- 10:56picture quality was pretty good.
- 10:58I thought the commentary
- 11:00with Bill and John was really good.
- 11:02I thought Taylor's
- 11:03interviews were really good.
- 11:08All of that was good.
- 11:11I just have that one small critique.
- 11:14That's really it.
- 11:16There might have been a
- 11:16couple other things,
- 11:17but they're negligible.
- 11:21James W. says...
- 11:23We all say we want CrossFit
- 11:25as a sport to grow.
- 11:26It's never going to happen
- 11:27if we accept the quality of syndicate.
- 11:29Video was okay considering it was free,
- 11:31but the commentary was so unprofessional.
- 11:35So I've kind of thought
- 11:36about this and I've heard a
- 11:37lot of this being said over
- 11:43since the broadcast was over.
- 11:48If you want different commentary,
- 11:52then Syndicate should have
- 11:53hired a different group to do it.
- 11:57The reason that they got
- 11:58hired is because they are
- 12:01the most popular group of
- 12:04broadcasters in the space.
- 12:06Syndicate brought them in to
- 12:08try to draw some people to
- 12:09the stream and draw some
- 12:11people to the event.
- 12:14They are who they are.
- 12:15To ask them to change who
- 12:17they are is an unreasonable expectation.
- 12:24If Syndicate wanted to go
- 12:26with the traditional broadcast,
- 12:28that's when you bring in
- 12:30Sean Woodland and Chase and
- 12:33Bill and you do your thing
- 12:36and you have the typical
- 12:37sideline reporter.
- 12:41You can't have it both ways.
- 12:47And that's the problem.
- 12:53I understand people,
- 12:54and Jody makes a point.
- 12:56The commentary was not
- 12:57alarming to anyone who
- 12:58regularly listens to Savant.
- 13:01Correct.
- 13:01But you're going to have
- 13:02people watch a broadcast
- 13:03that don't typically watch
- 13:05the Savant show.
- 13:06But Syndicate made this what
- 13:11it was because that's who
- 13:12they hired to bring in to do this.
- 13:14If you're going to,
- 13:17not going to hire pat mcafee
- 13:19to broadcast a football
- 13:20game if you want it to be
- 13:25this is the best example
- 13:26right monday night football
- 13:27does the manning cast the
- 13:28manning cast is an
- 13:29alternate broadcast but the
- 13:31nfl has money to pay for
- 13:32two broadcasts they can pay
- 13:35for troy aikman and joe
- 13:36buck to do a professional
- 13:38broadcast in the
- 13:39traditional manner over here on espn
- 13:42Then on ESPN, too,
- 13:44they have the Manning cast.
- 13:45If you want something
- 13:45different and something as an alternative,
- 13:49that is on ESPN, too.
- 13:50The NFL has the money to do that.
- 13:52CrossFit does not have the
- 13:54money to do that.
- 13:57They get to bring in one person,
- 13:58and Wilson hedged his bet
- 14:00on bringing in the most
- 14:01popular show in the space
- 14:03to do a broadcast,
- 14:05and they're going to do it
- 14:05the way they do their broadcast.
- 14:08To expect it to be different is...
- 14:12is like hiring a plumber to
- 14:13do electrical work.
- 14:16You just can't, you can't do that.
- 14:19So, and I am, I'm of the,
- 14:22because I'm in a media
- 14:24space where I talk a lot,
- 14:26I believe that everybody
- 14:27has the right to say
- 14:28whatever they want to say.
- 14:30And then you as the consumer
- 14:31have the right to watch it, not watch it,
- 14:34turn off the volume,
- 14:35do whatever you want to do.
- 14:38You have that right as well.
- 14:41Um,
- 14:43so I feel like I'm just rambling at
- 14:46this point, but that's, that's the,
- 14:50that's a fact, right?
- 14:53You, you hire Savant to come in and do,
- 14:56and his crew to come in and
- 14:57do the broadcast.
- 14:59You're going to get Savant
- 15:00doing the broadcast.
- 15:01That's not going to change.
- 15:07Ken Walters, that's well said.
- 15:09Money embodies resources to work it.
- 15:12Are the issues most is on their own dime.
- 15:15And without CA peptides,
- 15:16chances would be impossible to do.
- 15:20Chances are it would be impossible to do.
- 15:31They also have come a long
- 15:32way from their first comp a few years ago,
- 15:35Zealous Games done on just
- 15:38iPhones and tripods.
- 15:42James, they are who they are.
- 15:44Sure, that's fine,
- 15:45but it's not going to
- 15:46attract new fans at all.
- 15:48Imagine tuning in for the
- 15:49first time and hearing some
- 15:51of what was said on the air at Syndicate.
- 16:00From the majority that I listened to,
- 16:03I thought they were really
- 16:04on their best behavior for most.
- 16:07Now,
- 16:07if you listen to the post show or the
- 16:10pre show, then that's them being them.
- 16:13But on the broadcast,
- 16:14I thought they did a pretty
- 16:15good job for the most part
- 16:19with all of that.
- 16:27Um...
- 16:31Shay,
- 16:31there were parts I enjoyed and I
- 16:34enjoyed in parts that I
- 16:36couldn't listen to around my kids.
- 16:38Yeah.
- 16:48Meredith says,
- 16:48I'm actually kind of
- 16:49surprised that the
- 16:50broadcast was as family
- 16:51friendly as it was given
- 16:53Savon's typical content.
- 16:55I do.
- 16:55I have to agree with you on that,
- 16:56Meredith.
- 16:58Um,
- 17:03Andrew,
- 17:04I hope Wilson knew what he was
- 17:05getting when he agreed to it.
- 17:07Haven't watched the broadcast,
- 17:08but I hope the commentary
- 17:09doesn't cause any blowback on Wilson.
- 17:12I don't think there's a lot
- 17:13in the broadcast of the
- 17:16event that would be blowback.
- 17:27So...
- 17:31scott did you see hillar's
- 17:32compilation they played
- 17:34before you left for your
- 17:35meeting I did not I did not
- 17:41I did I actually was
- 17:42talking to andrew a ton
- 17:44yesterday over some other
- 17:46things we're going to get
- 17:47into that in a minute um
- 17:52I'll have to go back and
- 17:54and watch what you're talking about ken
- 18:00Yeah,
- 18:00I wish I didn't have to go to the
- 18:01meeting I went to.
- 18:02It was not a fun meeting to be in.
- 18:08Maybe it won't grow with
- 18:09that style podcast.
- 18:10Bill tried to rein it in, but yeah,
- 18:18I think, I don't know.
- 18:24I think the growth part is
- 18:26something that needs a
- 18:27further discussion than
- 18:29just over language and talk
- 18:31and where we are and what's appropriate.
- 18:37Because there is part of me
- 18:39that thinks that the
- 18:40traditional broadcast is just boring.
- 18:44I know when I buy the Rogue
- 18:45package every year,
- 18:46I do not listen to the
- 18:48traditional broadcast.
- 18:49I listen to Pat Sherwood and
- 18:51Josh Bridges and all the athletes.
- 18:53They come on talking during the thing.
- 18:56I really enjoy that much
- 18:57more than the traditional broadcast.
- 19:03So I don't know.
- 19:09So what was Hiller's compilation?
- 19:11Was it the...
- 19:14Was it from his YouTube
- 19:15video where he talked about
- 19:17the fisheye lens and not
- 19:18being able to do his thing?
- 19:21Cause I did watch that last night.
- 19:25I will admit I'm,
- 19:26I am way behind on CrossFit content.
- 19:29Um, uh,
- 19:30a four that turns into a five hour
- 19:32drive yesterday.
- 19:34Um,
- 19:36just made it so I couldn't do a lot of
- 19:37stuff.
- 19:39Um, and it's really a good thing.
- 19:40We did not try to get to, uh,
- 19:45It was all the snippets of swearing.
- 19:49I have not seen that.
- 19:50I will definitely have to check that out.
- 19:58My wife's doctor said we
- 19:59shouldn't drive to
- 20:00Knoxville because of her
- 20:01knee and the swelling that
- 20:03that could occur.
- 20:04We had to go to Pennsylvania,
- 20:05which was much less than that.
- 20:08And on the way home,
- 20:11she was in a lot of pain.
- 20:14But we were there for a
- 20:14funeral that she needed to be at.
- 20:17So we'll see.
- 20:22But yeah, rough, rough go yesterday.
- 20:28So I'm way behind on content.
- 20:31Eric Mackey syndicate views Friday,
- 20:34ninety two K Saturday, sixty two K Sunday,
- 20:37fifty five K. I think some
- 20:41of that will be attributed to.
- 20:44Friday has more time for
- 20:45people to go back and do some replays.
- 20:48The others will probably
- 20:49pick up a little bit.
- 20:52But I get what point you're
- 20:54trying to make.
- 21:03hearing real people talk
- 21:05like real people who are
- 21:06super invested and
- 21:07knowledgeable about the
- 21:08sport was great I loved it
- 21:11I and corey I would
- 21:13anticipate that you would
- 21:14love it you are a dealer
- 21:15daily listener of savan and
- 21:18that you would be fine with
- 21:19everything that was happening um
- 21:25But I do understand the
- 21:26other point as well.
- 21:28But again,
- 21:29that is who Wilson hired to do this.
- 21:31They're going to be who they are.
- 21:33To expect anything different
- 21:35is just not reasonable.
- 21:43So.
- 21:48A couple of things that I didn't.
- 21:50wanted to address is
- 21:51yesterday when bryson and
- 21:54ty and tyler were on taylor
- 21:55were on doing the morning
- 21:58show bryson said that the
- 22:00reason they shouldn't watch
- 22:02spencer win the event is
- 22:04because the storyline was
- 22:06the close race for who is
- 22:08getting a games ticket and
- 22:10I wanted to address that
- 22:12there is no one singular
- 22:14storyline ever at a sporting event
- 22:17And it's okay to highlight
- 22:19some of each of the
- 22:20storylines as you're going.
- 22:23Spencer doing something
- 22:24better than anybody else
- 22:25was doing it should be part
- 22:28of the storyline that
- 22:29happens during a race.
- 22:32It doesn't mean you stay on
- 22:33him the entire race until he finishes,
- 22:36but at least show why he is
- 22:38winning everything at this point.
- 22:41Then move over to the race
- 22:44and do a wide shot of three
- 22:45athletes who are competing
- 22:47for that last spot.
- 22:49So you have two storylines
- 22:50happening at the same time.
- 22:51That is okay.
- 22:53That is wonderful.
- 22:54Those are the things you
- 22:55want at a sporting event.
- 22:56The more storylines that are going on,
- 22:58the better the broadcast becomes.
- 23:03So to say that they
- 23:04shouldn't have shown Spencer at all,
- 23:08that's ignoring one entire
- 23:10storyline from the event.
- 23:15And it doesn't mean you give
- 23:16a hundred percent of it to
- 23:17Spencer for winning.
- 23:19It's just highlight him,
- 23:21show him what he's doing,
- 23:22highlight that he's on his
- 23:24third win in a row,
- 23:25and then go back for the
- 23:26race for the rest of that.
- 23:36Shay says, absolutely.
- 23:39I've always liked Shay.
- 23:41She always agrees.
- 23:42Not always, but.
- 23:47And for the third win of the day,
- 23:48I agree on that one.
- 23:52Eric Mackey,
- 23:53highlight their enthusiasm and
- 23:55personality,
- 23:55but without the swearing and vulgarities.
- 23:58Like Taylor's interviews, he was great.
- 24:04Taylor was awesome.
- 24:07Him showing his enthusiasm made it great.
- 24:13Seeing him get excited to
- 24:15interview Ben Smith and to
- 24:16tell Ben Smith the
- 24:18inspiration he's been to
- 24:20then see what Ben Smith's reaction was,
- 24:22my gosh, that was like epic.
- 24:24That was one of the greatest
- 24:25moments of the weekend.
- 24:31Kenneth DeLapp,
- 24:32new listeners aren't likely
- 24:33tuning in to the semifinals,
- 24:34probably the games though.
- 24:37you never know how people
- 24:38are going to find you.
- 24:40But again, it's what,
- 24:42it's what the syndicate could afford.
- 24:45And we got it.
- 24:46We got a stream.
- 24:47And if you don't like the commentary,
- 24:49turn the volume down.
- 24:54You know, we have options as consumers to,
- 24:59to,
- 24:59to make things better on our own and
- 25:02not have to demand change.
- 25:09Taylor is naturally natural
- 25:11and had excellent questions.
- 25:13I enjoyed him on the sideline.
- 25:15Yeah.
- 25:17One thing like,
- 25:19maybe I'll get into this
- 25:20later in the week, but you know,
- 25:23out of necessity,
- 25:24I started doing some
- 25:25sideline reporting and just
- 25:27putting them up on my
- 25:28Instagram at semifinals back in the day.
- 25:32Um,
- 25:35Uh,
- 25:35and I have some thoughts on all that
- 25:38because I hated the way
- 25:39they were being done too.
- 25:41And I really took a different approach,
- 25:43but I'll tell you the story
- 25:44of how all that kind of
- 25:45organically happened for me.
- 25:47And it's kind of what got me
- 25:49my first real step in the
- 25:51door to doing this podcast more at a high,
- 25:55at a higher level with more
- 25:57knowledge and things of that nature.
- 26:00So,
- 26:03Jody Lynn says, what they can afford.
- 26:05I thought Savon did it for free.
- 26:07He did do it for free,
- 26:08and I have confirmed that for sure.
- 26:10He did it for free,
- 26:12but that's what Syndicate could afford.
- 26:17I think what it did, though,
- 26:18is it allowed Syndicate to
- 26:20give five hundred dollars
- 26:22for every winner throughout the day.
- 26:25It gave them more
- 26:27opportunities to make it a
- 26:28great experience for the athletes,
- 26:30for the fans, all of those things.
- 26:38And when I say they did it for free,
- 26:41that's a little bit of a misnomer.
- 26:43I think that what they did
- 26:44is they told syndicate,
- 26:46we'll come in and we'll do it for free,
- 26:48but we get any money we can
- 26:50make through the broadcast,
- 26:53through sponsorships,
- 26:55things of that nature.
- 26:56So you saw commercials
- 26:57during the broadcast, which is brilliant.
- 27:00And if they did make that agreement,
- 27:02more power to them.
- 27:03Kudos for hustling and getting that done.
- 27:06They got all the donations
- 27:07from the fans throwing
- 27:10money at them at a dollar
- 27:11ninety nine or more throughout the day.
- 27:15So I do think they recoup some of it.
- 27:18And they've been very open about C.A.
- 27:20Peptides helping them out by
- 27:22getting them an Airbnb for the week.
- 27:24So I do think there was some
- 27:27some money that changed hands.
- 27:28It just wasn't between
- 27:29CrossFit or Syndicate Crown
- 27:32and the Savon podcast.
- 27:44I think Jim Reapers was a
- 27:45syndicate sponsor,
- 27:46not a broadcast sponsor.
- 27:47Yeah,
- 27:47I don't know exactly what everything was,
- 27:52but I do think that they
- 27:54did have some sponsorships.
- 27:56They had people on the
- 27:57broadcast promoting their product,
- 28:01and I think that probably
- 28:02helped them to some degree.
- 28:09um yeah I have a couple more
- 28:14kenneth don't rush me um
- 28:21the last thing I want to
- 28:22say the highlight another
- 28:23highlight for me on the
- 28:23weekend if you guys know me
- 28:25and I've talked about on
- 28:26the show wrestling used to
- 28:29be like my second favorite
- 28:30sport uh pro wrestling that is
- 28:33that we got to see Kane as
- 28:36the mayor of Knoxville
- 28:37talking about Knoxville and
- 28:40all of that stuff in the
- 28:41interview that he did with
- 28:42the broadcast team was one
- 28:44of my favorite things of the weekend.
- 28:46I was like a twelve-year-old
- 28:47boy getting to see one of
- 28:49my old heroes on the
- 28:51broadcast and I can't
- 28:52believe that this monstrosity guy, Kane,
- 28:58who was an awesome awesome
- 28:59wrestler was so smart and
- 29:01intelligent and so fun to
- 29:03listen to and I just have
- 29:06to say that was one of the
- 29:08extreme highlights for me
- 29:10um of the weekend and I
- 29:13couldn't have loved that anymore um
- 29:25And then I will say one more thing.
- 29:28I did talk about the
- 29:29template for my show and
- 29:32TEF using the same template
- 29:34at the end of my show on Sunday night.
- 29:37It was at the very end.
- 29:39It was kind of an afterthought for me.
- 29:40I talked to Jamie about it
- 29:41earlier in the weekend,
- 29:43but it was just kind of an afterthought.
- 29:47At the end of the day, one,
- 29:49Hiller really cut out a lot
- 29:50of what I said,
- 29:52but the point was the point.
- 29:55I don't own that template.
- 29:57They can use whatever they want to use.
- 29:59I just found it funny that
- 30:01this little old podcaster over here,
- 30:04that's been chugging along for five years,
- 30:07gets my template stolen by
- 30:10the big corporate entity that is, um,
- 30:13TEF.
- 30:14And I just thought it was
- 30:15funny that instead of
- 30:17finding something of their own,
- 30:19they use the exact same one that I did.
- 30:22And.
- 30:25And I mean, behind the curtain,
- 30:27I use Canva to make my thumbnails.
- 30:30I'm sure they use Canva to
- 30:31make their thumbnails.
- 30:34And Andrew Sten,
- 30:39I don't understand what
- 30:39template you're referring to.
- 30:41If you go to Hiller's Instagram,
- 30:44Hiller four point oh,
- 30:45he posted them side by side.
- 30:50It's a slide screen.
- 30:52And you can see mine and you
- 30:54can see theirs.
- 30:59The best form of flattery is imitation.
- 31:01In my work life,
- 31:03I finally took those as a compliment.
- 31:05Yeah,
- 31:07I'm not butthurt about it or anything
- 31:08like that.
- 31:09I just found it ironic that
- 31:11in this niche sport where
- 31:12there's not a lot of people
- 31:15working in it and the
- 31:18millions of templates that
- 31:19are available on Canva,
- 31:20we use the exact same one.
- 31:24Now I'll tell you sometime this week,
- 31:26I'm changing mine.
- 31:28I just got to find something
- 31:29and I've got to,
- 31:30and I always modify mine.
- 31:32So I put some G like you'll
- 31:33notice on the screen right
- 31:34now around me on the
- 31:37right-hand side are some
- 31:38geometric shapes that I put
- 31:40on mine that they don't have on theirs.
- 31:45Um,
- 31:47and I always modify the template to
- 31:49some degree.
- 31:51Um,
- 31:54just because.
- 31:56So just to make it different
- 31:59and not just the template.
- 32:00But anyway, go work out, Mackie,
- 32:06Eric Mackie.
- 32:07Have a good one, man.
- 32:09All right.
- 32:10Last thing, road to the games.
- 32:14So behind the scenes, I've been, man,
- 32:19I've been talking with
- 32:22I've been talking with
- 32:22Hiller a little bit about
- 32:23the road to the games.
- 32:25We share some thoughts about
- 32:28what's happening with the
- 32:29road to the games.
- 32:32And what I'm going to tell
- 32:33you is the road to the
- 32:35games that currently exist
- 32:37is not the ones titled road to the games.
- 32:41The ones that exist that are
- 32:43road to the games are the
- 32:45the forty eight hours with
- 32:48Andrew Hiller that he's been putting out.
- 32:53And I've been saying for a while,
- 32:58and his Hopper video,
- 33:02his Hip and Steel video have been really,
- 33:04really awesome.
- 33:09What happened last night
- 33:12cemented this for me.
- 33:15In Hiller's latest video,
- 33:17he does an interview with
- 33:18Erica Folo with her talking
- 33:20about missing out on her
- 33:22opportunity to make the games.
- 33:24Getting her in this raw,
- 33:27right after the syndicate moment,
- 33:29and it's literally like a FaceTime call,
- 33:32and her talking about
- 33:33missing out on the games,
- 33:35that's the stuff.
- 33:39That's the gold that is
- 33:42going to make this series
- 33:43he's doing even better.
- 33:47And what's awesome about it
- 33:48is that when she qualifies
- 33:51for the game someday,
- 33:53it is going to be epic.
- 33:56Because he has this whole
- 33:57run-up of spending time with her,
- 34:01FaceTiming with her,
- 34:02in this relationship
- 34:04building where she's open
- 34:06and honest about her
- 34:06feelings about everything.
- 34:08And then she's going to make
- 34:09it to the games and it's
- 34:10going to be this climax in
- 34:12this... If you've ever...
- 34:16heard about um the hero's
- 34:18journey like every good
- 34:19movie every good book has a
- 34:21hero's journey and when she
- 34:24makes it to the games the
- 34:25climax is going to hit and
- 34:27it's going to be awesome
- 34:32that is where your road to
- 34:35the games are now um
- 34:46You made a good point.
- 34:47They need to show more of
- 34:48their personal life, not just training.
- 34:50And when they go to them on
- 34:52a training day and they
- 34:53pick their active recovery day,
- 34:55it's even worse.
- 34:56And that's what happened with Fi.
- 34:58You go to Fi on her active
- 35:00recovery day and then all
- 35:02you show is workout stuff.
- 35:04Man, it's a double miss.
- 35:11CrossFit,
- 35:11these are miles to Madison on the
- 35:13HQ side.
- 35:14Old road to the games went to regionals.
- 35:16And we didn't know if the
- 35:17athletes we filmed would make it correct.
- 35:21That is it.
- 35:22We didn't know the end of the story.
- 35:25We didn't know.
- 35:27And it got us to root for
- 35:28people at the regional level.
- 35:34Lito says,
- 35:35just need to see a Hiller video
- 35:36with Brooke now.
- 35:37Yeah,
- 35:37I don't think that's happening
- 35:38anytime soon.
- 35:45We need the old Enns Bridges one.
- 35:47That's one of my favorites of all time.
- 35:51All Dismissed at Once is one
- 35:53of my favorites.
- 35:54Even the Tia Wright one here.
- 35:56Like, Tia,
- 35:59I became a fan of hers because
- 36:01of that video, and she never,
- 36:02ever made it.
- 36:03Never made it.
- 36:09um the example you gave with
- 36:11fee was good I had no idea
- 36:12she played the violin I
- 36:15don't yeah is erica follow
- 36:19doing no workout she is not
- 36:22season is done uh her coach
- 36:24actually comes on the
- 36:25facetime call and they talk
- 36:26about the plan for the
- 36:27season and trying to
- 36:30qualify for wfp and maybe
- 36:32trying to do some canadian
- 36:34uh competitions she may be
- 36:36teaming up with sam cornway
- 36:38for an event in montreal a
- 36:42team competition up there so
- 36:50She is doing the last chance qualifier.
- 36:52I believe they want to see
- 36:54how her body holds up to
- 36:56what happened at syndicate.
- 36:58And if she's in good shape
- 37:00after a couple of days rest,
- 37:02they're going to ramp up for an,
- 37:03a last chance qualifier.
- 37:05It's all in Hiller's video.
- 37:10It's all in Hiller's video.
- 37:12But it's not labeled as Erica follow.
- 37:13It is.
- 37:15I think it has Brooke on the
- 37:16front as the thumbnail.
- 37:20And the Erica follow thing
- 37:21is at the end of the video,
- 37:23but it is the longest part
- 37:24of the video and it is the
- 37:26best part of the video.
- 37:37Is Tia Wright doing the same
- 37:38thing where she doesn't do
- 37:39CrossFit anymore?
- 37:40I don't know, Barry.
- 37:44I actually had her scheduled
- 37:46to be on the show maybe two years ago and,
- 37:51uh,
- 37:51just she got flighty and we missed
- 37:55some times and never really got to,
- 37:58to follow through with that.
- 38:00Uh,
- 38:04this would be the last thing I answered
- 38:05and I got to get back to, um,
- 38:10Got to get back to work.
- 38:12But how did you hold up
- 38:13seeing your in-laws, Scott?
- 38:14I hope all went well.
- 38:16Well,
- 38:16I talked to my father-in-law for the
- 38:17first time in three and a half years.
- 38:20And that went very, very well.
- 38:22And so hopefully that's a
- 38:23baby step towards some
- 38:25recovery there with my in-laws.
- 38:28My mother-in-law, I've seen a few times.
- 38:31She is the only one from my
- 38:32wife's family that I have
- 38:33talked to in the last few years.
- 38:36But the biggest step is
- 38:38going to be my sister-in-law,
- 38:40which I saw her.
- 38:42We did not speak.
- 38:43And I've got to figure that
- 38:45out because I've made steps toward her.
- 38:48She has not made any towards me.
- 38:50And we'll see what happens there.
- 38:54And maybe on a show where
- 38:55it's a little bit more dead,
- 38:56I can talk about everything there
- 38:59uh can go enjoy your ribeye
- 39:04of course it's called it's
- 39:05all over on hillar's
- 39:07channel I feel like the
- 39:11follow interview should
- 39:11have been its own separate
- 39:13video I think that hillar
- 39:17does so much research on
- 39:18what gets clicks and what
- 39:19doesn't and what gets views
- 39:20and what doesn't um that he
- 39:23was trying to get or try
- 39:25something out probably
- 39:33sounds like her road to the
- 39:34games training all right
- 39:39guys scott you are correct
- 39:43nothing is on accident I'm
- 39:47starting to learn starting
- 39:48to learn learn andrew with
- 39:50that guys I actually have a
- 39:52meeting at one o'clock
- 39:55eastern time so I need to
- 39:57bug off here but I will
- 40:00Talk to you all tomorrow.
- 40:01We'll pick up where we left off,
- 40:04and we'll talk some more
- 40:05about what happened this
- 40:05weekend and some other things with that,
- 40:08guys.
- 40:09You knuckleheads get back to work.
- 40:11We'll see everybody tomorrow
- 40:12on Lunch with the Clydesdale.
- 40:14Bye, guys.
