- Lucas: Hey Luna, welcome back to Learn Telugu with Fexingo. So glad you're here. Luna: Thanks Lucas. I'm glad too. I've been practicing those vegetable market phrases, and I actually used them last week. Lucas: Oh, you did. How did it go? Luna: I asked for one bunch of greens and the vendor nodded. It felt amazing. Lucas: That's fantastic. Small wins like that build real confidence. Luna: Totally. So what are we learning today? Lucas: Today we're going to the post office. Imagine you want to send a letter home. Luna: A letter. That's classic. I love handwritten letters. Lucas: Me too. So the first thing you'd say at the counter is: నాకు స్టాంపులు కావాలి. Luna: నాకు స్టాంపులు కావాలి. Lucas: Slowly: నాకు స్టాంపులు కావాలి. Luna: నాకు స్టాంపులు కావాలి. Lucas: Good. It means 'I need stamps.' నాకు means 'to me' or 'I need', and స్టాంపులు is 'stamps'. Luna: So if I'm sending a postcard, I'd say that. Lucas: Exactly. And then you'd tell them what you want to send. Lucas: Yeah. ఒక means 'one', లేఖ is 'letter', పంపాలి means 'to send'. So 'I have to send a letter'. Luna: Oh, that's useful. Lucas: Perfect. You're putting them together already. Luna: Okay, so I go to the counter and say that. Then they'll probably ask me something. Lucas: Right. They might ask: ఎన్ని స్టాంపులు కావాలి? That means 'How many stamps do you need?' Lucas: Good. ఎన్ని means 'how many'. So if you need one stamp, you can say: ఒక స్టాంపు. Luna: ఒక స్టాంపు. Lucas: Now, after they give you the stamp, you'll want to know the price. So you ask: ఇది ఎంత? Luna: ఇది ఎంత? Lucas: That means 'How much is this?' You've heard ఎంత before in the market. Luna: Oh yeah, for tomatoes. But here it's for stamps. Lucas: Exactly. And then when you're ready to put the stamp on, the clerk might say: ఇక్కడ పెట్టండి. Luna: ఇక్కడ పెట్టండి. Lucas: ఇక్కడ means 'here', పెట్టండి means 'please put'. So 'Put it here.' Luna: Oh, so they're telling me where to stick the stamp. Lucas: Yes, on the envelope. That's a helpful one. Luna: So let me practice the whole thing. Lucas: Excellent. You're ready for the counter. Luna: Before we go further, can I ask something honest? Lucas: Sure. Luna: How does Fexingo keep making so many episodes without ads? Lucas: That's a good question. It's actually because of a small group of listeners who chip in monthly at buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. Luna: Ah, so they're the reason we're ad-free. Lucas: Exactly. We keep it real — no ads, just language learning. Luna: That's lovely. Okay, back to stamps. Lucas: So imagine you're at the post office, and you say: నాకు స్టాంపులు కావాలి. Luna: నాకు స్టాంపులు కావాలి. Lucas: Then you add: ఒక లేఖ పంపాలి. Luna: ఒక లేఖ పంపాలి. Lucas: Now, the clerk asks: ఎన్ని స్టాంపులు కావాలి? Luna: ఎన్ని స్టాంపులు కావాలి? Lucas: You reply: ఒక స్టాంపు. Luna: ఒక స్టాంపు. Lucas: Then you ask: ఇది ఎంత? Luna: ఇది ఎంత? Lucas: And the clerk says: ఇక్కడ పెట్టండి. Luna: ఇక్కడ పెట్టండి. Lucas: See, you've just had a full conversation at the post office. Luna: That's so cool. I can actually imagine myself doing that. Lucas: And it's all built on the patterns you already know from the market. ఎంత, కావాలి — they show up everywhere. Luna: Yeah, I'm starting to see how the pieces fit together. Lucas: So let's do one more quick review. Repeat after me: నాకు స్టాంపులు కావాలి. Lucas: And finally, when someone tells you where to put it: ఇక్కడ పెట్టండి. Luna: ఇక్కడ పెట్టండి. Lucas: Perfect. You're all set for the post office now. Luna: I feel like I could actually send a letter in Telugu now. Lucas: You absolutely could. Practice these phrases a few times before you go, and you'll be golden. Luna: Will do. Thanks Lucas. Lucas: Thanks for joining today's episode. We'll see you next time.
