- 2:35Speaker 1: Because I'm saving you from them. What am I supposed
- 2:37Speaker 1: to How am I supposed to bring you around all
- 2:38Speaker 1: these people? I don't even want to be around these people.
- 2:41Speaker 1: Why would I bring you around these people?
- 2:43Speaker 2: Definitely don't want to bring your children.
- 2:46Speaker 1: Children around Like it's a shit show. On my side,
- 2:50Speaker 1: your family is like weird. Your family's like normal, Kookie,
- 2:54Speaker 1: like normal, got some personalities, normal, got some some little
- 2:59Speaker 1: extent tricities and things like that. Mine, it's very messed up.
- 3:04Speaker 2: Sometimes, yes, they are methy.

- 3:39Speaker 1: back and listen to. You know, if you're really feeling
- 3:44Speaker 1: down one day, you want to feel better about.
- 3:46Speaker 2: Yourself, just talk about our lives.
- 3:48Speaker 1: Yes, anyways, and then rate, review, subscribe wherever you get
- 3:53Speaker 1: your podcasts, specifically Apple. I don't know why that's the
- 3:57Speaker 1: one where everybody focuses on, but just do it.
- 4:00Speaker 2: I think we just got added to cast box.
- 4:03Speaker 1: Yeah, still fix the podcasting things, so now it's everywhere.
- 4:06Speaker 1: Well that that's going to help our numbers, but whatever, I.
- 4:09Speaker 2: Mean, we joke about our tens of listeners, but we're
- 4:11Speaker 2: actually getting thousands of people listening every time we drop
- 4:16Speaker 2: an episode.
- 4:17Speaker 1: Somehow I know somehow anyways, we literally do no advertising.
- 4:21Speaker 1: We just do that. We just do this, put it
- 4:24Speaker 1: out into the like eat those fear, eat those fear something.
- 4:31Speaker 1: We throw it out there. See what sticks? I did?
- 4:34Speaker 1: Hit ten thous Did I mention that I hit ten
- 4:36Speaker 1: thousand on my TikTok? So that was exciting. And now
- 4:40Speaker 1: we have our dollion dollar dollionaires, dollar naires, dollarnaires. Yes,
- 4:47Speaker 1: and then we have yes the TikTok. You can follow
- 4:50Speaker 1: me there. Oh, I'm doing twelve days of cookies right now.
- 4:55Speaker 1: That's what I made those cookies. The other day. I
- 4:57Speaker 1: just got went to the library to name and got
- 4:59Speaker 1: like six books. I got stew one called Home Cheese Making.
- 5:03Speaker 1: I'm gonna make him try to make cheese.
- 5:05Speaker 2: I make cheese every day, Stewart, Well, I cut it
- 5:08Speaker 2: every day.
- 5:09Speaker 1: Ew what is wrong with you? I got a bunch
- 5:12Speaker 1: of baking Christmas baking books, and so I'm going to
- 5:14Speaker 1: go through. So I did my first cookie yesterday or today,
- 5:19Speaker 1: and then it was a soft molasses ginger cookie and
- 5:25Speaker 1: they were very good. Yes, no, it wasn't the molasses.
- 5:30Speaker 1: It was a that was a maple glaze, and I
- 5:33Speaker 1: did say the thing how we would choose not to
- 5:35Speaker 1: do the maple glaze next time, we would make sure
- 5:37Speaker 1: because it's too sweet. So as you can check it out.
- 5:40Speaker 1: And then so I'm going to go through all these
- 5:41Speaker 1: old books that I got from the library, these cooking books.
- 5:45Speaker 1: I'm picking out eleven more cookies and I'm making them
- 5:47Speaker 1: leading up to Christmas. Stew, that's what we're doing.
- 5:52Speaker 2: I knew that.
- 5:53Speaker 1: Yeah you did know that. Yeah, you don't know anything,
- 5:57Speaker 1: all right. So yeah, that's all the stuff. So let's
- 5:59Speaker 1: go ahead and get into this week's episode out of Alabama.
- 6:05Speaker 1: All right. So Kimra Lynn Riley was born November twenty ninth,
- 6:08Speaker 1: nineteen fifty nine in Illinois. Now Kimra would eventually end
- 6:12Speaker 1: up in Dustin, Florida, where she would marry and have
- 6:15Speaker 1: one child. What about Duston, Do you like Dustin?
- 6:18Speaker 2: I love Dustin?
- 6:19Speaker 1: Yeah, it's okay. What what?
- 6:22Speaker 2: What?
- 6:23Speaker 1: What? Stuart? You want to live that beach lifestyle. I'm not.
- 6:27Speaker 1: I don't want to live a beach lifestyle. It's not
- 6:29Speaker 1: for me. It's a lot of sand in a lot
- 6:31Speaker 1: of places. Like we would go to the beach one
- 6:35Speaker 1: time and be like, that's a lot of work. It
- 6:39Speaker 1: was a lot of clean up.
- 6:39Speaker 2: I feel like you really like children. You just have
- 6:41Speaker 2: to accept that it'll be messy.
- 6:43Speaker 1: I can't accept sand all the time. I can't do it.
- 6:47Speaker 1: I can't. I can barely accept dust in this place.
- 6:50Speaker 1: I can't accept sand all the time. We cannot go
- 6:53Speaker 1: live by the beach, all right. So she lived in
- 6:56Speaker 1: dustin Florida. She marries. She has one child. However, that
- 6:59Speaker 1: marriage would end in divorce because he was a cheater,
- 7:03Speaker 1: stew cheater, and a liar, so she would go ahead
- 7:07Speaker 1: and move back to Sheffield, Alabama, where her mother lived. Now.
- 7:11Speaker 1: In nineteen ninety five, she began dating a man named Rusty.
- 7:15Speaker 1: Although she was dating Rusty, camera still enjoyed going out
- 7:18Speaker 1: with her friends. She especially loved playing pool after her
- 7:21Speaker 1: shifts as a waitress. She just liked to go out.
- 7:24Speaker 1: You know, it's rough being a waitress. I've been some nights.
- 7:27Speaker 1: You know, some days are good, but some days are
- 7:29Speaker 1: just you need a drink, you know, afterwards, it's a comment.
- 7:34Speaker 2: In your case, it was several drinks, several nights.
- 7:39Speaker 1: Yeah, whatever, it's a rough time for me, Okay, were
- 7:44Speaker 1: we recording? No, I we weren't recording whenever I was
- 7:48Speaker 1: a waitress. No. Oh we started right when I after
- 7:52Speaker 1: I graduated.
- 7:54Speaker 2: And oh yeah yeah you got a job.
- 7:57Speaker 1: Job. Oh I had a job. But waitress, you're saying
- 8:00Speaker 1: pays really well though, like you can make a lot
- 8:01Speaker 1: of money with tips. Anyways, But the Christopher walking Freezer
- 8:06Speaker 1: was my best friend when I was hung over there
- 8:07Speaker 1: and going there, like thank God for this place. All right,
- 8:11Speaker 1: So her boyfriend really didn't like this behavior of her
- 8:14Speaker 1: staying out late at bars, which I don't disagree with him.
- 8:19Speaker 1: He didn't seem unreasonable that you are hanging out your date,
- 8:23Speaker 1: you know, got a boyfriend or whatever for a year,
- 8:25Speaker 1: and you're hanging out at bars every night or going
- 8:28Speaker 1: out late and stuff like that.
- 8:29Speaker 2: It's bad not with your boyfriend.
- 8:31Speaker 1: Yes, you know, he didn't always want to be going
- 8:33Speaker 1: out and doing that. And she liked to go out
- 8:34Speaker 1: and hang out with their friends and stuff.
- 8:37Speaker 2: A lot of money and hang out the bar every night.
- 8:38Speaker 1: Yes, now not the bars that camer was hanging out
- 8:43Speaker 1: at the dive bars.
- 8:46Speaker 2: Well, what's wrong with the dive bar?
- 8:48Speaker 1: I know, Stu, you're a dive bar official.
- 8:50Speaker 2: You get the draft beer. It's fine, it's why don't
- 8:54Speaker 2: you start doing the shots the price?
- 8:56Speaker 1: Oh, I still remember you take me to that one
- 8:58Speaker 1: like hole in the wall and that gold schlager machine
- 9:01Speaker 1: was with the gold flecks in it. Yeah, it's in
- 9:05Speaker 1: the corner. I can still see it. And then I
- 9:07Speaker 1: remember throwing that up afterwards.
- 9:09Speaker 2: Yeah, I remember that myself vividly.
- 9:11Speaker 1: Yeah. So her, he didn't like her staying out late,
- 9:15Speaker 1: so this would cause arguments between them over her behavior,
- 9:19Speaker 1: but that didn't stop camera. She continued to enjoy her life.
- 9:22Speaker 1: Kimra's family was aware of Rusty's kind of jealousy of
- 9:25Speaker 1: her going out and being around other men and stuff,
- 9:29Speaker 1: and knew they argued about this, and he would frequently
- 9:32Speaker 1: question if Kimra was being faithful to him, or she's
- 9:35Speaker 1: out flirting with other men while she's out and about
- 9:38Speaker 1: fair question. And she did would over consume sometimes and
- 9:43Speaker 1: you can let yourself just do god knows what. So
- 9:46Speaker 1: he had some concerns. So I'm not saying he was
- 9:49Speaker 1: some like controlling boyfriend.
- 9:51Speaker 2: He he had valid concerns.
- 9:53Speaker 1: He had valid concerns.
- 9:55Speaker 2: On January fifteenth, nineteen ninety six, after her shift, Kimra
- 9:58Speaker 2: decided she was going to go out and meet up
- 10:01Speaker 2: with a friend at a place called the Bama Club.
- 10:04Speaker 1: She had established.
- 10:05Speaker 2: It does sound like quite this classy establishment. She supposedly
- 10:10Speaker 2: had quite the day, and supposedly, I mean, I got
- 10:13Speaker 2: no evidence that she had a tough day a waitressing
- 10:16Speaker 2: and needed to blow off some steam. The next day,
- 10:19Speaker 2: Kimra's mom came by to talk to her and Rusty
- 10:23Speaker 2: told her that she had never returned home from the
- 10:26Speaker 2: night before. Rusty, at this point seemed very concerned, but
- 10:30Speaker 2: Kimra's mom thought she may have just stayed at someone's
- 10:32Speaker 2: house because she had a lot of friends and this
- 10:35Speaker 2: wouldn't have been unlike her. Rusty told Kimra's mom that
- 10:38Speaker 2: he did go up to the bar to look for
- 10:40Speaker 2: her when she did not return home, and her friend
- 10:44Speaker 2: said that she had left about an hour prior to
- 10:46Speaker 2: that to go get some food and she yeah, yeah.
- 10:51Speaker 2: He was like, yeah, she'll probably be at the house shortly. However,
- 10:54Speaker 2: around four am, she's still not home. So Rusty went
- 10:58Speaker 2: back to the bar, but he said it was close.
- 11:00Speaker 2: Rusty kept insist every got to close at some points,
- 11:04Speaker 2: even though Bama Club, well that one in Tennessee. They
- 11:07Speaker 2: closed for about an hour to clean up, and then
- 11:08Speaker 2: they opened right back up again.
- 11:10Speaker 1: I'm sure there's some of New Orleans that are like that.
- 11:12Speaker 2: Yes, where was I? Rusty kept insisting that they needed
- 11:17Speaker 2: to call the police and report her missing, but her
- 11:20Speaker 2: family said they would not even take the case at
- 11:22Speaker 2: this point because it had been less than forty eight
- 11:25Speaker 2: hours and she was a grown ass woman and she
- 11:28Speaker 2: would probably turn up.
- 11:29Speaker 1: And apparently this was not out of the realm of
- 11:33Speaker 1: possibilities for camera, Like the boyfriend's been around for a year.
- 11:38Speaker 1: The family's like, man, this is camera. She'll show up.
- 11:41Speaker 1: She just probably partied a little too hard, and she's.
- 11:44Speaker 2: You'r a year into this, Yeah, we're you're you're entering
- 11:47Speaker 2: a new phase relationship.
- 11:48Speaker 1: We are what thirty five years into this? We're we
- 11:55Speaker 1: They feel like they know her a little bit better
- 11:56Speaker 1: than the boyfriend. All right, Well, well things don't get
- 12:00Speaker 1: much better because two weeks go by and still no
- 12:03Speaker 1: sign of chimera. Now, her mother, Lois has become extremely
- 12:07Speaker 1: concerned about her and has started asking around to see
- 12:10Speaker 1: if anybody's seen her, with no luck of anybody having
- 12:13Speaker 1: seen Kimra. On January thirtieth, nineteen eighty six, they head
- 12:16Speaker 1: into the police station to finally report her as a
- 12:19Speaker 1: missing person. I mean, I'm sorry, I'm not trying to
- 12:22Speaker 1: be critical. Two fucking weeks. I mean, Jesus Christ. I mean,
- 12:27Speaker 1: maybe she'd done something like this before, they didn't.
- 12:29Speaker 2: Say, But that's for two weeks.
- 12:31Speaker 1: That seemed like seems like a long time. And mind you,
- 12:34Speaker 1: she does have a small child, so I don't know
- 12:38Speaker 1: if that that. She does share custody with her ex,
- 12:41Speaker 1: so might have been with the ex at this time.
- 12:43Speaker 1: But still, I just it seems like a long time
- 12:46Speaker 1: to just no judgment here. Maybe it's a.
- 12:50Speaker 2: Little bit, maybe a little bit, maybe not a little bit,
- 12:52Speaker 2: but not judging.
- 12:53Speaker 1: I mean, Rusty did try. He tried and then got
- 12:57Speaker 1: pushed back from from the old fam. So investigators do
- 13:01Speaker 1: take the case seriously since she has been gone for
- 13:03Speaker 1: two weeks and they do not believe her family said
- 13:07Speaker 1: they didn't believe she just up and leave her young
- 13:09Speaker 1: child forever like this like this is a long time.
- 13:12Speaker 1: So they start off by going to the Bama Club
- 13:14Speaker 1: to try to get some information because Kimera was a
- 13:16Speaker 1: regular at this establishment, so everybody knew her all right,
- 13:22Speaker 1: we're back. We get you didn't hear there was a cat.
- 13:26Speaker 1: The cats are on my last nerves. Everybody. I got
- 13:29Speaker 1: woken up last night because of the cats. I'm done with.
- 13:32Speaker 2: The catint the cats. It's the children, the children, it's Cara.
- 13:39Speaker 1: No, it's do what'd you do with the cat?
- 13:43Speaker 2: I gave him some snacks, so.
- 13:45Speaker 1: Betty times, bedtimes?
- 13:49Speaker 2: All right?
- 13:50Speaker 1: The cat is under control for the moment.
- 13:54Speaker 2: Tell theations are gone.
- 13:56Speaker 1: So where were we? We were at the Bama Club
- 13:58Speaker 1: with the detectives and going around and asking about Camra
- 14:02Speaker 1: because this is her like normal haunt that she goes to.
- 14:06Speaker 1: So they're asking around. But this, like I said, is
- 14:08Speaker 1: a dive bar. There's some like there's a few sketchy
- 14:11Speaker 1: people there. They're like, uh, cops, I'm not talking to you.
- 14:14Speaker 1: I'm not gonna help you or anything like that. So
- 14:16Speaker 1: even though the police knew that all these people probably
- 14:19Speaker 1: knew who camera was and probably saw her that night,
- 14:21Speaker 1: none of them are helping them out. Very He's like,
- 14:24Speaker 1: I'm just here to drink. I'm not here to help
- 14:27Speaker 1: you or talk to you. So with detectives quickly hitting
- 14:30Speaker 1: a wall and getting no new information, Uh, there's not
- 14:34Speaker 1: much that they can do at this point. There was
- 14:39Speaker 1: no security footage, there's no eyewitnesses, no one coming forward
- 14:43Speaker 1: saying anything. So they continue to look into the case.
- 14:46Speaker 1: But like I said, there's just they're kind of a
- 14:48Speaker 1: if no one will talk to them. There's this is
- 14:51Speaker 1: nineteen ninety six. There's no security cameras, it's a small town.
- 14:55Speaker 1: Nobody's talking. She just randomly was there one minute and gone.
- 15:00Speaker 2: Family nowhere else she would go, if anywhere.
- 15:02Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a very difficult place to go where they're
- 15:07Speaker 1: quickly running out of leeds. And also keep in mind
- 15:10Speaker 1: that they're not even sure. They can't one hundred percent
- 15:14Speaker 1: say something happened to her, because there is still the
- 15:17Speaker 1: possibility that she just decided to run off and start
- 15:20Speaker 1: a new life. Her family didn't think that she would
- 15:22Speaker 1: do that. But that's got to be in the back
- 15:24Speaker 1: of the detective's head that this is a grown woman.
- 15:26Speaker 2: It's possibility investigators finally would receive some answers. On March sixth,
- 15:32Speaker 2: nineteen ninety six, a fisherman was fishing in the Tennessee
- 15:36Speaker 2: River when he came upon something that did not look
- 15:40Speaker 2: like it should be there. Kara, it's never good.
- 15:42Speaker 1: This is why I don't go fishing, boating, jogging anything.
- 15:49Speaker 2: Once he got a little closer, he could clearly see
- 15:52Speaker 2: that it was a dead body on the bank of
- 15:55Speaker 2: the river. The man calls nine to one one and
- 15:58Speaker 2: the Sheffield Police Department arrives on the scene. It is
- 16:01Speaker 2: clear that it is a homicide. This was not an
- 16:05Speaker 2: accidental drowning. Based on what they found, the woman appeared
- 16:09Speaker 2: to be in her twenties or thirties. Her pants had
- 16:12Speaker 2: been taken off and tied around her neck. There were
- 16:14Speaker 2: heavy rocks placed in them. It was also clear that
- 16:17Speaker 2: there was a sexual assault component to the attack prior
- 16:20Speaker 2: to her being murdered. There was no identification on the woman,
- 16:24Speaker 2: so they would need to wait for an autopsy to
- 16:27Speaker 2: get more information on in profile who this victim might be.
- 16:32Speaker 1: So the autopsy was completed just two days later and
- 16:35Speaker 1: they determined that she did have some bloot force trauma
- 16:38Speaker 1: to her head. However, the medical examiner couldn't determine whether
- 16:45Speaker 1: this was prior to going into the water, or it
- 16:49Speaker 1: could have happened whenever she was thrown into the water,
- 16:51Speaker 1: so someone could have hit her in the head before
- 16:54Speaker 1: or she could have been thrown in the water and
- 16:56Speaker 1: then hit her head a lot rocks. They could determine
- 17:01Speaker 1: that based on the amount of water in the lungs
- 17:03Speaker 1: that she had drowned, so she was alive when she
- 17:06Speaker 1: was weighted down. So this is like really terrible. I
- 17:10Speaker 1: think probably what happened was they probably hit her over
- 17:12Speaker 1: the head and then knocked her unconscious and then she
- 17:15Speaker 1: and then weighted her down with that. I mean, it
- 17:18Speaker 1: was like a it was a horrific way to die.
- 17:22Speaker 1: Not to mention it's whenever this happened, it would have
- 17:24Speaker 1: been in January cold. I mean, it's just terrible. So
- 17:31Speaker 1: due to the body being in water, a rape kit
- 17:33Speaker 1: was not able to be done because all of that
- 17:35Speaker 1: evidence would have been washed away. But like I said,
- 17:38Speaker 1: it was wintertime, so the body hadn't I mean, if
- 17:41Speaker 1: this had been summertime that after a couple months it
- 17:45Speaker 1: would have been in pretty bad shape. But they were
- 17:47Speaker 1: able to look at some identifying features of the victim,
- 17:52Speaker 1: and one of those was a specific tattoo on the chest. Now,
- 17:56Speaker 1: as soon as the investigator saw the tattoo, he remembered
- 17:59Speaker 1: that Kimra had the same tattoo and were able to
- 18:02Speaker 1: identify her as thirty six year old Kimra Riley.
- 18:06Speaker 2: Now that they know what has happened to Kimra, they
- 18:08Speaker 2: go back and they speak to Lois as well as Rusty. Lois,
- 18:12Speaker 2: the mother, tells detectives that she was concerned about Rusty
- 18:16Speaker 2: because she had heard Rusty and Kimera fighting frequently about
- 18:21Speaker 2: cameras going out and partying and drinking after work, which.
- 18:25Speaker 1: Again I'm on Rusty's side with this. We have to
- 18:28Speaker 1: have some decorum if we're going to be in a relationship.
- 18:32Speaker 2: Yes, especially one where you live together. Lois said that
- 18:36Speaker 2: she also witnessed them and get into a large fight
- 18:39Speaker 2: about two days before kim went missing. With this information,
- 18:43Speaker 2: police bring Rusty back in and they go back over
- 18:46Speaker 2: his story of the night. He tells police that he
- 18:49Speaker 2: arrived home at about seven o'clock that evening, and when
- 18:53Speaker 2: Kimra wasn't home, he decided to head up to the
- 18:55Speaker 2: club because she could get carried away with drinking and
- 18:58Speaker 2: lose track of time. I understand that it happens. You know,
- 19:03Speaker 2: I'm sitting there talking to people and next thing you know,
- 19:06Speaker 2: it's red night. You don't have to go throwing, but
- 19:11Speaker 2: you can't stay here throwing up gold sloger on the
- 19:14Speaker 2: bathroom floor.
- 19:16Speaker 1: No, those were long island. Wait was that all in
- 19:19Speaker 1: that same night? So bad? I could still see the
- 19:27Speaker 1: view from where I was good times.
- 19:37Speaker 2: Rusty went back through how he arrived and at the
- 19:41Speaker 2: bar and with someone telling him that she had left
- 19:45Speaker 2: about an hour before, and the person that told him
- 19:48Speaker 2: that did not know where she was. Rusty did state
- 19:52Speaker 2: that he went back around four am to check on
- 19:54Speaker 2: her again, but the club was closed.
- 19:57Speaker 1: Police asked his story is the same, He told the mom.
- 20:01Speaker 2: Well, it's a nice, simple story, though kind of hard
- 20:04Speaker 2: to app it up unless you start adding things in.
- 20:06Speaker 1: Well, if you I feel like, if you're guilty, if
- 20:10Speaker 1: you're lying, you forget what you say. Yes, if you're
- 20:13Speaker 1: telling the truth, it's easy to remember, even if it's.
- 20:16Speaker 2: Not great, even if it's a simple story. Investigators asked
- 20:20Speaker 2: Rusty if he was the one that had hurt Kimra.
- 20:23Speaker 2: He denied harming her. He said he would never hurt
- 20:26Speaker 2: Kimera and that he was the one that was initially
- 20:28Speaker 2: concerned about her and wanted to contact authorities the next morning.
- 20:33Speaker 2: He however, said that her family stopped him because they
- 20:37Speaker 2: thought she would show up As Rusty continued to talk,
- 20:40Speaker 2: he did bring up the ex husband, whose name is Tommy,
- 20:43Speaker 2: and how it was a very contentious divorce and child
- 20:47Speaker 2: custody battle. He told detectives that Lois had to handle
- 20:51Speaker 2: all the child drop offs, pickups, all that with the
- 20:54Speaker 2: grandchild because of problems between Camera and Tommy. But Rusty
- 21:00Speaker 2: admitted he did not know too much about that relationship
- 21:03Speaker 2: or how bad it was between Camra and Tommy, and
- 21:07Speaker 2: then if they wanted all that info, all the details
- 21:10Speaker 2: on that Cara drink drink, they would have to speak
- 21:13Speaker 2: to Lois.
- 21:14Speaker 1: Yeah, he basically said, I didn't get too much into it. So,
- 21:17Speaker 1: but he's assuming it's bad if I mean, he's hearing
- 21:21Speaker 1: Kimra's side of the story, so he's assuming.
- 21:23Speaker 2: It's bad if he's only been there a year. Yeah,
- 21:27Speaker 2: he's like, I'm not jumping in this, Rusty.
- 21:30Speaker 1: He's just like caught. He's like, Frosty, seems like this
- 21:35Speaker 1: normal guy's like, shouldn't be called police. She's been missing,
- 21:39Speaker 1: she didn't come home. Her fan's like, nah, she'll be fine,
- 21:42Speaker 1: she'll be fun.
- 21:44Speaker 2: I realize I'm just the step boyfriend in this, but uh.
- 21:47Speaker 1: This seems fucked up. Like what did I really do?
- 21:51Speaker 1: Feel bad for him? Like what was he thinking like
- 21:53Speaker 1: the two weeks? Like, okay, I guess for her family's
- 21:56Speaker 1: not worried, like.
- 21:58Speaker 2: This is the complete opposite of like Mickey shounick thing.
- 22:01Speaker 2: She was missing for like two hours and they're like,
- 22:03Speaker 2: all right, we gotta dry make fly.
- 22:05Speaker 1: I'm guessing it's because they didn't. We didn't get a
- 22:08Speaker 1: lot of information, but I'm assuming this might have been
- 22:10Speaker 1: camera's yeah, maybe her thing or whatever. So her family
- 22:14Speaker 1: wasn't taking it as they should. But Rusty just like
- 22:19Speaker 1: imagine he's just like, come on, guys.
- 22:22Speaker 2: It's gonna search party. Come on, guys.
- 22:26Speaker 1: Okay, I know it's not funny. We're gonna get kicked.
- 22:29Speaker 1: We're gonna can't it's not funny. It's just like I'm
- 22:31Speaker 1: just imagining Rusty just sitting there like, what.
- 22:34Speaker 2: What the hell are these Why aren't these people concerned? Yes, yes,
- 22:39Speaker 2: Jennifer said we were terrible. Who's Jennifer our new newest Reviia.
- 22:45Speaker 1: Well, she's not gonna like this.
- 22:47Speaker 2: She said that you laughed too much.
- 22:48Speaker 1: Oh my god. Whatever. Well, you know what, it's not
- 22:51Speaker 1: my fault. You're boring. See you next. All right, let's
- 22:56Speaker 1: get back on track. So Jennifer doesn't Jennifer's done with us.
- 23:00Speaker 1: She's done with us. She said she was done with us.
- 23:03Speaker 2: I'm guessing she dropped a crap review.
- 23:05Speaker 1: And pieced out yeah out bitch, all right.
- 23:09Speaker 2: I don't think she's there for more.
- 23:11Speaker 1: It's been a good time, all right. So Lois told
- 23:14Speaker 1: police that Tommy was actually a good guy and it
- 23:17Speaker 1: was just that he had cheated on Kimera and so
- 23:19Speaker 1: she couldn't forgive him for that. So that's why she
- 23:21Speaker 1: handled the custody drop offs, basically saying like that was
- 23:25Speaker 1: the only thing wrong with Tommy's he's.
- 23:27Speaker 2: A serial cheater.
- 23:29Speaker 1: Yes, he's a cheater, but yeah, she just said that.
- 23:32Speaker 1: Kimra just couldn't get over the fact. She's like she
- 23:35Speaker 1: couldn't forgive him, which why should she have to forgive
- 23:38Speaker 1: him if he cheated on her failure? Really, so I
- 23:42Speaker 1: have questions for Lois and her relationship with her daughter. Anyways,
- 23:49Speaker 1: that's why she did the custies just because Kimra did
- 23:51Speaker 1: not want to talk to him. But it wasn't that
- 23:52Speaker 1: camera feared him or didn't trust her with their son
- 23:56Speaker 1: or anything.
- 23:56Speaker 2: According to Lois, Yes.
- 23:59Speaker 1: Now detective do contact Tommy and he is open to
- 24:02Speaker 1: speaking with them, and when they ask him where he
- 24:03Speaker 1: was that evening, he was able to provide an airtight
- 24:06Speaker 1: alibi with a receipt showing where he was that evening.
- 24:10Speaker 1: So at this point they don't believe that the boyfriend
- 24:14Speaker 1: nor the ex husband had anything to do with Kimra's murder.
- 24:18Speaker 1: They head back up to that Bama Club because this
- 24:20Speaker 1: is where it all. This was the last place she
- 24:22Speaker 1: was seen. So someone there has some ants. Yeah, so
- 24:26Speaker 1: they go back up to the Bama Club and now
- 24:28Speaker 1: they have more information. They have the fact that something
- 24:30Speaker 1: actually happened to Kimra. People are finally starting to talk.
- 24:34Speaker 1: So one woman who worked at the bar said that
- 24:36Speaker 1: she actually did see camera talking to a man that night.
- 24:39Speaker 1: And then another frequent person at the bar, Barfly, a
- 24:44Speaker 1: barfly not necessarily probably someone who frequented the bar a lot,
- 24:51Speaker 1: also came forward saying that he saw Kim Kimra with
- 24:55Speaker 1: a man he knew by the name of Rodney Hawker.
- 24:59Speaker 1: Now he told it detectives that he saw camera talking
- 25:02Speaker 1: to Rodney, and Rodney mentioned that he had a puppy
- 25:04Speaker 1: in his car and asked kimra if he was. She
- 25:07Speaker 1: wanted to go out and see it, and she actually
- 25:10Speaker 1: went out there with him. Like, this is like guys,
- 25:15Speaker 1: if someone tells you there's a puppy in a car.
- 25:18Speaker 2: Or a candy in my van, in my white van.
- 25:21Speaker 1: Yes, do not go with them. Like we need to
- 25:24Speaker 1: be why would this person have a puppy at the bar?
- 25:28Speaker 1: We need to be asking these types of questions.
- 25:30Speaker 2: This is a dive bar. It's very plausible there was
- 25:33Speaker 2: a puppy in the car.
- 25:34Speaker 1: This is true, or just picked it up.
- 25:37Speaker 2: A new on his way to the bar. It was
- 25:39Speaker 2: in the ditch. He was like, I want to go
- 25:41Speaker 2: to the bar still, I'll just put the puppy in there. Yeah.
- 25:43Speaker 1: She was just probably thinking the best of this person,
- 25:46Speaker 1: and he was using it to get her away from
- 25:51Speaker 1: other people.
- 25:51Speaker 2: Now, if you want to get me in the van,
- 25:53Speaker 2: you just tell me there's guns and ammo in there.
- 25:55Speaker 2: For cheap. You probably get me or tools.
- 25:58Speaker 1: Or something some snap ons snap ons snap.
- 26:03Speaker 2: On not strap ons, snap ons.
- 26:05Speaker 1: What you're into.
- 26:08Speaker 2: Snap On is a tool brand, Like.
- 26:11Speaker 1: You can just tell me that there's.
- 26:15Speaker 2: I can I can get you with just about anything. Puppies, kittens, no,
- 26:20Speaker 2: baking tools. For some reason, kitchen utensils or gadgets would
- 26:25Speaker 2: get you.
- 26:26Speaker 1: I did make just get this cheese making book from
- 26:28Speaker 1: the library.
- 26:29Speaker 2: Yes, and now you know, now we need a cheese
- 26:31Speaker 2: press evidence.
- 26:31Speaker 1: I know. I was like, oh, we need a cheese press.
- 26:33Speaker 1: I didn't.
- 26:35Speaker 2: Hey lady, I got a cheese press in my van.
- 26:37Speaker 2: Really let me come look, Oh I was all right.
- 26:42Speaker 1: So the man also stated that Rodney Kim Kimra went
- 26:47Speaker 1: out with Rodney. However, Rodney came back several hours later
- 26:51Speaker 1: and Kimra was not anywhere to be found.
- 26:54Speaker 2: And this guy didn't find this concerning to talk to
- 26:56Speaker 2: police earlier.
- 26:57Speaker 1: No, Now, the man also stated that Rodney had a
- 27:01Speaker 1: broken windshield and when someone asked him about it, he
- 27:04Speaker 1: said that his wife hit something. Now, with this new information,
- 27:07Speaker 1: they speak to both the first man that was seen
- 27:10Speaker 1: with Kim as well as go speak to Rodney. Now,
- 27:12Speaker 1: the first man that was seen with Kim, it seemed
- 27:14Speaker 1: like it was just a brief interaction and she never
- 27:17Speaker 1: left with him or anything beyond that. So now their
- 27:21Speaker 1: sole focus is on Rodney.
- 27:25Speaker 2: Now, with their sole focus being on Rodney, they go
- 27:28Speaker 2: speak to him. Rodney is a construction.
- 27:31Speaker 1: Worker red flag. No kidding.
- 27:33Speaker 2: So they go to this place of work and they
- 27:35Speaker 2: ask him about camera. When they arrived, they noticed that
- 27:39Speaker 2: his truck windshield had already been repaired. But it has
- 27:43Speaker 2: been a couple months, so that's not Yeah, I mean
- 27:46Speaker 2: it took us long enough to get out of town
- 27:48Speaker 2: to get ours fixed after the hell storm. We would
- 27:50Speaker 2: have had to fix the next day.
- 27:52Speaker 1: Yeah, most people get a wind If you get a
- 27:54Speaker 1: windshield issue, most people. Yeah, most people go and get
- 27:57Speaker 1: it if it's noticeable by other people that are asking you, like, hey,
- 28:00Speaker 1: what happened you? Because if you just have a crack
- 28:02Speaker 1: across your windshield, nobody's going to ask you, really what
- 28:04Speaker 1: happened For the most time, I.
- 28:05Speaker 2: Mean, it's not going to bother you either. But if
- 28:06Speaker 2: it's really smashed.
- 28:07Speaker 1: It But if it smashed and other people are going
- 28:08Speaker 1: to say, what happened to your windshield? Like that's crazy?
- 28:11Speaker 1: And then he says, oh, my wife did something ran
- 28:15Speaker 1: over a person or.
- 28:15Speaker 2: Something hit him on or waiting to or from the bar,
- 28:20Speaker 2: hit a hit a puppy that I had to save
- 28:24Speaker 2: and take to a bar.
- 28:26Speaker 1: Okay, we're going to hell go ahead.
- 28:30Speaker 2: Well, so it's not completely abnormal. To get your windshield
- 28:33Speaker 2: changed obviously, but police are like, hey, we possibly lost
- 28:36Speaker 2: some potential evidence because it took this long to develop
- 28:40Speaker 2: Brodney as a suspect. However, since Rodney was nobody.
- 28:45Speaker 1: Would come forward and help out poor kimro there, they.
- 28:48Speaker 2: Might have caught the windshield before it was replaced.
- 28:51Speaker 1: Yes, I mean, the only thing is is that the
- 28:53Speaker 1: only not good thing. But like them not coming forward,
- 28:58Speaker 1: she was already gone. So it's not that they could
- 29:00Speaker 1: she had been like held or something that.
- 29:02Speaker 2: They could have saved or something.
- 29:03Speaker 1: Yeah, so that was the only they did evidence, But.
- 29:07Speaker 2: Sounds like it was that night if old Rodney came
- 29:09Speaker 2: back to the bar solo.
- 29:11Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 29:13Speaker 2: Since Rodney was the last one seen leaving the bar
- 29:16Speaker 2: with Camera, they were able to obtain a search warrant
- 29:19Speaker 2: for his vehicle and take evidence from that. One of
- 29:22Speaker 2: the items in evidence they found was blood that was
- 29:26Speaker 2: in the vehicle, so they sent that off for testing.
- 29:30Speaker 2: When they got the results back, it was a match
- 29:32Speaker 2: to camera's DNA.
- 29:34Speaker 1: Yeah, so this is definitely Rodney's the one who he
- 29:39Speaker 1: tried to cover it No, Stuart, Yeah, and said something
- 29:46Speaker 1: about a puppy.
- 29:47Speaker 2: Yes.
- 29:47Speaker 1: Now with this information they are able to rest Rodney
- 29:50Speaker 1: Hawker for the murder of Camera on October twenty first,
- 29:53Speaker 1: nineteen ninety six. Now, investigators believe that he used the
- 29:57Speaker 1: puppy story to get Camera out to his car, where
- 30:00Speaker 1: he then somehow convinced her to get into the vehicle.
- 30:03Speaker 1: They think he might have they might have he might
- 30:05Speaker 1: have said, oh my god, the puppy got out, can
- 30:07Speaker 1: you help me go, let's go look for him or whatever.
- 30:09Speaker 1: And remember, I don't believe this was like super late, Like,
- 30:13Speaker 1: this was still early evening at this occurred, so she
- 30:16Speaker 1: probably wasn't out as much high alert as if if
- 30:19Speaker 1: it had been two o'clock in the morning.
- 30:21Speaker 2: Well, I supposedly Rusty showed up at seven and somebody
- 30:24Speaker 2: said that she had left an hour prior to that.
- 30:26Speaker 1: Yeah, so this is six pm. Six pm seems like
- 30:29Speaker 1: a safer time a day than like two ams. She
- 30:32Speaker 1: might have been on more high alert at two am.
- 30:34Speaker 2: Nothing good happens after midnight, as they say.
- 30:37Speaker 1: Yeah. Anyway, so they believe that he drug her out
- 30:42Speaker 1: to the woods where he sexually assaulted her and then
- 30:45Speaker 1: hit her with the rock and then threw her in
- 30:47Speaker 1: the river where she droned. Now Rodney thankfully, was found
- 30:51Speaker 1: guilty and was sentenced to nine nine years in prison. However,
- 30:54Speaker 1: he is eligible for paroles, so he's been up for
- 30:56Speaker 1: parole hearings and he has been denying so far. So
- 30:59Speaker 1: every Pearl hearing, the family has to get together and
- 31:02Speaker 1: like argue that this monster does not need to be
- 31:06Speaker 1: back in.
- 31:07Speaker 2: The world, which I don't even understand that.
- 31:09Speaker 1: No, I don't understand.
- 31:10Speaker 2: Why why I gotta go there and say why him
- 31:13Speaker 2: being paroled would be a bad thing.
- 31:14Speaker 1: It's like why a rapist and murder, yes, cold blooded
- 31:18Speaker 1: killer should not be out on the streets.
- 31:20Speaker 2: Like why are we why do we have to get
- 31:22Speaker 2: the whole family go relive this once every year or
- 31:24Speaker 2: two or however many times his Pearl hearing comes up,
- 31:28Speaker 2: the frequency of it.
- 31:29Speaker 1: Yes, I don't know why anybody would give him a
- 31:33Speaker 1: parole option. He should have been life in prison without
- 31:36Speaker 1: the option of pearl anyway, So that is our case
- 31:39Speaker 1: out of Alabama. And again, yes, sometimes we laugh during these,
- 31:43Speaker 1: but it's not we're not laughing at the victim or
- 31:46Speaker 1: anything like that. It's not like that. It's just that
- 31:48Speaker 1: we try to find some you gotta find some amusement
- 31:51Speaker 1: in the dark.
- 31:52Speaker 2: Times, and all our regular listeners are aware of this.
- 31:56Speaker 2: Just Jennifer and whoever that other girl was before her.
- 32:01Speaker 1: And the person before that. We just like trying to
- 32:05Speaker 1: find some like fun in it or whatever, you know.
- 32:07Speaker 1: I mean, it's a dark topic. It's unfortunately people get
- 32:11Speaker 1: murdered all the time. I mean, I could get murdered.
- 32:14Speaker 1: We don't know, Stu, we don't. But that's gonna be
- 32:17Speaker 1: a really good podcast episode for you. And then but
- 32:20Speaker 1: after that it'll die down quickly because you don't write
- 32:24Speaker 1: any of the cases. So except for knowing the details
- 32:27Speaker 1: of my murder, you would be you wouldn't have any
- 32:32Speaker 1: other episodes to go on. So but that one episode
- 32:37Speaker 1: would probably do really really well. We'd get lots of
- 32:39Speaker 1: new listeners, yes, and then you would just go.
- 32:42Speaker 2: Off, fade off and do obscurity.
- 32:44Speaker 1: Yes, you'd take over my TikTok and do like like
- 32:50Speaker 1: outdoor projects and you're like, what the heck up? And
- 32:52Speaker 1: do the true crime girl.
- 32:54Speaker 2: That is exactly what I would do. I would run
- 32:57Speaker 2: that into the ground too.
- 33:01Speaker 1: Oh anyways, So yeah, if you were offended by this,
- 33:05Speaker 1: just give us a five story review.
- 33:07Speaker 2: If you were not alone, exit quietly, stude, do you
- 33:12Speaker 2: have a y jes Yes, but it's slim. But I
- 33:15Speaker 2: had to source it because I saw it on the Facebook.
- 33:17Speaker 2: Then I had to go and research it to I've
- 33:20Speaker 2: done a lot. I've seen a lot on the Facebook.
- 33:23Speaker 2: And then you go to find out that.
- 33:24Speaker 1: You're the only person still using Facebook.
- 33:26Speaker 2: That it's a ridiculous kidding like onion story or something
- 33:30Speaker 2: made up.
- 33:31Speaker 1: If you can't believe anything on pops up, you got
- 33:34Speaker 1: to go and vet it yourself.
- 33:36Speaker 2: Well, I vetted this. It's like four or five stories,
- 33:39Speaker 2: but it seems like the one news agency that copied
- 33:44Speaker 2: another one. It's I think I all got the same story.
- 33:49Speaker 1: So do you have something or not? Yes, okay, can
- 33:52Speaker 1: you give it to us then?
- 33:53Speaker 2: But it's going to end quickly.
- 33:56Speaker 1: Okay, that's fun.
- 33:57Speaker 2: Kind of like the way you like it.
- 33:59Speaker 1: God's just get it. Let's just get it over with.
- 34:01Speaker 1: Go on now, Trio, I'm on up there.
- 34:07Speaker 2: Trio arrested for it. Well, ironically, A Trio was arrested
- 34:16Speaker 2: for alleged sexual acts in the wind Dixie parking lot.
- 34:19Speaker 1: Oh because of wind.
- 34:22Speaker 2: Dixie, Monday, December one, five by Sophie Pendril from Fox
- 34:28Speaker 2: five News.
- 34:30Speaker 1: Oh, this was yesterday well, Fox forty five News, Fox
- 34:35Speaker 1: forty five, Fox.
- 34:36Speaker 2: Forty five, Fox forty five. Don't know where that is,
- 34:40Speaker 2: but Florida or not Florida, Florida, Florida Keys trio arrested.
- 34:45Speaker 1: This has got Florida written all over. It's a Winn Dixie,
- 34:48Speaker 1: it's sex and public, and it's a throuple.
- 34:53Speaker 2: I have. I have so many questions that are not
- 34:55Speaker 2: answered in this story.
