- 0:21Whether you are listening in our app, in your favorite podcasting app,
- 0:25or on our website at watwm.org, we invite you to sit down with us as we look
- 0:31to the scriptures to learn more about God and to strengthen your daily walk with Jesus Christ.
- 0:38Living a life for Christ. She's a happy girl.
- 0:38Music.
- 0:48She's a happy girl.
- 1:02Are you ready? God says things are ready and bids you come.
- 1:07He is telling you that all has been prepared for you to do His work. All you must do is come.
- 1:13He has invited you to share in His work. He is enabling you to do the work He has called you to do.
- 1:19If you continue to read these scriptures, you will see that the people who were
- 1:22given the invitation to come and sit at His table had many excuses.
- 1:26The end result was that they missed the opportunity to meet with Him and thereby
- 1:30were not allowed to share in the supper with their Lord.
- 1:34Join us in this program, The Master Says Come, as Kim Miller of Woman at the
- 1:39Well Ministries takes us through Luke 14, 17, which says, And sent his servant
- 1:44at suppertime to say to them that were bidden,
- 1:47Come, for all things are now ready.
- 1:50Hello, and thank you for joining us in this broadcast of Woman at the Well Ministries. Let us pray.
- 1:56Our kind and most gracious to Heavenly Father, Lord, I just pray that you would
- 1:59open our hearts and our minds at this moment. And Lord, I pray that you would speak through me.
- 2:04And I pray, Lord, that something would be said or done that would draw each
- 2:08and every one of us closer to you.
- 2:09And I pray, Lord, that you would remove me from the message and that you would
- 2:13just get your words out, that we may draw closer to you,
- 2:17Lord, and that may we realize that all things are ready, that we have to come
- 2:21to you and we have to receive the free gift that you have for each of us,
- 2:25that gift of salvation, Lord, that leads to a home not made with hands eternal into the heavens.
- 2:29I prayed your heavenly father that you would help us
- 2:32to see that we need to come to you lord to
- 2:35the table to feast upon your word the feast in
- 2:38your presence lord that we may be all that you'd have
- 2:41us to be lord i love you and i praise you and
- 2:44i thank you in jesus name and all of god's people said amen
- 2:47this entire chapter of luke
- 2:5214 has parables about
- 2:55the great supper and what we
- 2:58see in this particular one is that the the servant has made a a great great
- 3:05supper and he has had many come
- 3:09and he has his servant to go out and get people to come in to the supper.
- 3:18And as the servant goes out, he asks many, many people to come to the supper.
- 3:25And various sundry reasons are given back to the servant as to why they're not coming.
- 3:32And so the servant comes back and he says that he has done as he's commanded,
- 3:36yet there is still room at the table.
- 3:39And the lord said unto the servant go out
- 3:42into the highways and hedges and compel them
- 3:45to come in that my house may be
- 3:48filled and when you think about what he's
- 3:51saying in this particular parable jesus is
- 3:55very clearly showing us that everything that we need to taste of the great supper
- 4:02of him and to be in his presence and to fellowship with him and to have eternal life, it's ready.
- 4:12We who know the Lord know this for a fact.
- 4:15We understand that Jesus laid his life down on the cross of Calvary,
- 4:20that we may accept him, that his blood was shed to cover our sins and that his
- 4:27body was broken for us and that he died.
- 4:30And on the third day he rose again and he was victorious over hell, death, and the grave.
- 4:34And we realize that he has prepared the way and he is the way.
- 4:41In this parable, we are at that point.
- 4:46The supper's ready. He says, come.
- 4:50What we find is that not only do we have unbelievers who don't come to Christ
- 4:56or come to the table to be fed of his goodness, his blessings,
- 5:00his bounty, and his grace and his mercy.
- 5:03But we have people who claim to be Christians who do not find themselves feasting at the Lord's table.
- 5:11And I'm not talking about the Lord's table as in the communion that we have
- 5:16periodically at our churches.
- 5:17I'm talking about the food that the Lord has for each and every believer.
- 5:22I remember as a kid that there was this postcard that was in my Sunday school
- 5:30room that said seven days without food makes one week.
- 5:38W-E-A-K.
- 5:40And the point they were making was if only time you're fed is on Sundays when
- 5:46you come to church, then you're going to be a weak Christian.
- 5:50In this particular parable what
- 5:53we see is that when the servant goes
- 5:57out to explain the goodness of the
- 5:59supper that is before them everybody's got
- 6:03some other reason than to come to the table
- 6:05to be fed and i find in my own life
- 6:08and in the life of others during conversations that we
- 6:12can find so many other things to do
- 6:15than to spend time in the word of god or
- 6:18to spend time in prayer or to spend time doing
- 6:21what he's called us to do we can find dozens of
- 6:24reasons why we can't do it sometimes it's
- 6:27just simple poor planning peter went
- 6:30a fishing but he didn't go fishing every sunday but it's
- 6:33interesting how people can find a reason every week not
- 6:36to go to church it seems interesting to
- 6:39me that we can read newspapers and articles and we
- 6:42can read facebook book for hours on end and we
- 6:45can read all kinds of different magazines
- 6:48but we have a hard time picking up the word
- 6:51of god and reading it now i'm
- 6:54just old-fashioned enough to love and believe holding the word of god in my.
- 6:59Hand is like holding the hand of god i think it's fabulous that churches have
- 7:04these powerpoint things and they put them up on the screen and people who have
- 7:08trouble seeing their Bible or whatever can see it up on the screen.
- 7:13But I don't think that's a substitute for me walking through the doors, holding the Word of God.
- 7:18The Bible says that the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us,
- 7:22holding the hand of God as I walk through the church, sit down,
- 7:25unfold it, put it on my lap, and follow along with what the preacher has to say.
- 7:31I think that's a wonderful thing to do. And I think when I walk out of my house holding my Bible,
- 7:36that's a testimony i think when i get out of
- 7:39my car holding my bible that's a testimony but i cannot tell you the number
- 7:44of people who haven't dusted their shelves enough to see where the bible even
- 7:48is and when they pull the bible out there's dust on it and they'll say to me
- 7:52oh i they they have they have that on the powerpoint at church well that's fabulous but what about.
- 7:59Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, and Saturday.
- 8:03And that's going on the idea that you went to church on Wednesday.
- 8:07The Word of God is meant to be digested, to be studied.
- 8:14It's a study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to
- 8:18be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of truth.
- 8:21The Master says, come.
- 8:24The Bible says in Psalm 23 that he prepared a table in the presence of his enemies.
- 8:30He has prepared a table for you. A table of truth. A table of grace.
- 8:37A table of mercy.
- 8:40The answers to your every need. He has supplied a supper to fill you so that
- 8:48the devil cannot touch you.
- 8:51The Bible says that if you resist the devil, the devil will resist you. He'll flee.
- 8:56The Bible says that in the name and the presence of Jesus, the devil must go.
- 9:03So if I am sitting reading his word or I am praying with him,
- 9:08there's no place for the devil there.
- 9:10And I promise you, you don't want to be there. That's a place of peace.
- 9:14Why don't we spend more time there? These people had excuses.
- 9:18They didn't realize, I don't think, what they were missing.
- 9:22I don't think they understood the amazing supper that had been prepared.
- 9:27And so he says to the servant, go a little deeper.
- 9:32Go a little further. Fill my table.
- 9:36You see, if you don't partake, somebody else will.
- 9:41You see, I see this as a picture of Jesus not giving up. He went for the ninety-nine
- 9:48were safe, and he went for the one.
- 9:51He continually draws, and he continually asks, and he continually invites,
- 9:56and no one, no one is excluded.
- 10:00I bring to your attention that when they had the five loaves and a few fishes,
- 10:04and they broke them, and they fed the multitudes, that when everybody had had
- 10:08their fill, he sent them through to pick up the scraps.
- 10:14He didn't need the scraps to feed anybody. He had just fed a multitude of people
- 10:18with a few fishes and a few loaves.
- 10:20He picked out the scraps, I believe, so that we would see everybody matters.
- 10:26And when he tells this servant to keep going until you fill my table,
- 10:31keep going until you fill my table, he's giving us a picture that we need to
- 10:35let everybody we know know who Christ is.
- 10:38We need to invite everybody we know to the supper that Christ lays before us.
- 10:43We need to come because it's ready in the scriptures before this he talks about
- 10:50when you make a supper you need to invite the poor and the needy and the ones
- 10:56who can't recompense you because you want to give to them something not that
- 11:01you're giving that you might get,
- 11:03because he says when you give to the others you know that they're going to give something to you,
- 11:08And so he says, when you go out there, you're just giving of yourselves.
- 11:12From the goodness of your heart. And your goodness of your heart comes from
- 11:16the love of God, which has been imputed into you through the righteousness of Jesus Christ.
- 11:21And you can love everybody because of the love that God gives you.
- 11:26You can reach out to everybody because Jesus reached out to you.
- 11:32He says, come. He's clear.
- 11:35He says, come.
- 11:37For all things are ready. Are you coming?
- 11:42What's keeping you from the table? What's keeping you from eternal salvation?
- 11:47If you're listening to this message and you have not given your heart to Jesus
- 11:51Christ, what excuse are you making? None of them are valid.
- 11:55And none of them were going to stand in the day of judgment.
- 11:59Because unless he sees the blood, he will pass over you.
- 12:02But today is the day of salvation. And now is the accepted time.
- 12:06You have the opportunity to give your heart and life to Jesus Christ and come
- 12:10to the table and be fed, and you'll truly be satisfied.
- 12:15The world will never satisfy you. You can't get enough alcohol.
- 12:18You can't get enough drugs. You won't be able to get enough evil,
- 12:21and gambling won't be able to keep you happy, and you won't be able to get enough lascivious living.
- 12:26There won't be enough out there to satisfy you, and you will not be happy.
- 12:32But when you come to the table and you give Jesus your life and you feast in
- 12:38his word and you follow after him,
- 12:41you'll be satisfied and you'll be full and you'll come and you will leave a changed person.
- 12:49Jesus loves you, this I know, and he's the only thing that is the answer for your every need.
- 12:57He and he alone satisfies and he bids you come.
