- 0:02Speaker 1: This is a Bramble Jam podcast.
- 0:22Speaker 2: Welcome to Girls Gone Hallmark, a Hallmark review podcast. I'm
- 0:25Speaker 2: Megan and I'm a longtime Hallmark fan.
- 0:27Speaker 3: I'm Wendy. I'm a former Hallmark hater.
- 0:29Speaker 2: On today's episode, we are wrapping up our review of
- 0:33Speaker 2: Mary Thanksgiving Weekend Movies with the Christmas Cup, which originally
- 0:36Speaker 2: aired on Hallmark on Sunday, November thirtieth and is currently
- 0:40Speaker 2: available to stream you nowhere on Hallmark Plus. I feel
- 0:44Speaker 2: like the tone right now of our voices is giving
- 0:48Speaker 2: drift off into a my night's sleep, you know.
- 0:51Speaker 1: What I mean?
- 0:51Speaker 2: Like that there could be real money to be made there.
- 0:54Speaker 2: Do we need to make a sleep podcast where we
- 0:57Speaker 2: just read Hallmark movie? Oh yeah, maybe, and we just
- 1:03Speaker 2: read through the IMDBs starring Ashley Williams, who was also
- 1:07Speaker 2: in Wendy.
- 1:08Speaker 3: I don't hate that idea.
- 1:10Speaker 2: I don't think that's the best idea she's ever heard.
- 1:13Speaker 3: I don't hate that idea at all.
- 1:15Speaker 2: People have made money in stranger ways.
- 1:17Speaker 3: Yeah, but my voice isn't really like soothing. It's like
- 1:19Speaker 3: screechy and.
- 1:20Speaker 2: Mine isn't either, But you know how I'm making it
- 1:22Speaker 2: that way.
- 1:22Speaker 3: I can hear it yeah, I'm aware I'm sitting across
- 1:26Speaker 3: the table from here right now now.
- 1:28Speaker 2: I sometimes I'm doing it on purpose right now, because
- 1:30Speaker 2: sometimes I listen back and I'm.
- 1:31Speaker 3: Like, mag, oh, my gosh, you're so annoying. Well, I mean,
- 1:37Speaker 3: we can get real animated sometimes when we're excited. So
- 1:41Speaker 3: it is what it is. That's why. Like if you
- 1:43Speaker 3: sometimes you'll notice the tone of our episode starts starts
- 1:47Speaker 3: off like kind of calm, like we've been doing, and
- 1:50Speaker 3: it gets slowly the pitch raises.
- 1:52Speaker 2: We try and keep it in, but I gotta tell you,
- 1:55Speaker 2: yesterday's episode of Christmas with the Cat and Ipe Cafe
- 1:58Speaker 2: was full blown off the rail. So let's see if
- 1:59Speaker 2: we can write the ship. Speaking of writing, hey, check
- 2:01Speaker 2: out our website Girls Gone Hallmark dot com, where we
- 2:06Speaker 2: write a ton of stuff. Wendy writes way more than
- 2:08Speaker 2: I do. That's a peak behind the scenes. There is
- 2:11Speaker 2: so much over there, so you need to check it out.
- 2:14Speaker 2: Just scroll through see what we got. There's also a
- 2:17Speaker 2: link right at the top to our shop page where
- 2:22Speaker 2: you can shop Hallmark inspired merchandise for the holidays and beyond.
- 2:27Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm gonna suggest you get your port Haven sweatshirts.
- 2:31Speaker 2: Get them all you can. They're gonna be a vintage
- 2:33Speaker 2: item soon.
- 2:33Speaker 3: I know. I worem one the other day and I
- 2:35Speaker 3: was like, does anybody see what I'm wearing? Like? Does
- 2:38Speaker 3: anybody get it? Anyway?
- 2:41Speaker 2: I actually messaged the showrunner of that show to say,
- 2:45Speaker 2: because I think there's a petition out about the show
- 2:48Speaker 2: to get it renewed. Petitions everywhere this year, estions everywhere.
- 2:51Speaker 2: But I I She was expressing thanks about all the
- 2:56Speaker 2: dms that she's received, lovely comments, but then she says
- 3:01Speaker 2: the next screen was just a spot a shot of
- 3:04Speaker 2: the Landry House, and she said, you know what they
- 3:05Speaker 2: say about Landry's and I do believe the lines from
- 3:07Speaker 2: the show is a Landry never gives up.
- 3:09Speaker 3: Mm hm.
- 3:09Speaker 2: So I messaged and I said, genuine question here, what's
- 3:13Speaker 2: what's the end? Like do you want to get picked
- 3:14Speaker 2: up by another network? And if so, what's the best
- 3:16Speaker 2: way we can support you? But I haven't heard back.
- 3:19Speaker 2: I'll share that here if I do.
- 3:20Speaker 3: If you were a show runner, would you want another
- 3:23Speaker 3: network to pick you up? Hell? Yeah? Right?
- 3:26Speaker 2: Well, I think I said, this is probably a stupid question,
- 3:29Speaker 2: but I again don't know how those things work. So yes,
- 3:31Speaker 2: I would want to be picked up and it does.
- 3:33Speaker 2: It seems like that they're holding out hope that that
- 3:36Speaker 2: will happen. But I don't want to be out here
- 3:38Speaker 2: being like, let's push them to do this. If that's
- 3:40Speaker 2: not what the people on the show want, what do
- 3:42Speaker 2: you want? Tell me? And then yeah, that'll be my messaging.
- 3:45Speaker 3: You know, you and I have been talking like if
- 3:47Speaker 3: you guys want to listen to this and you just
- 3:49Speaker 3: want to get to our glowing review of the Christmas Cup,
- 3:51Speaker 3: please tap tap tap ahead right to the end of
- 3:54Speaker 3: the episode, like fadays, it's.
- 4:01Speaker 4: Too many reviews one day in one week, Okay, But
- 4:05Speaker 4: my point was there was some breaking news yesterday about
- 4:09Speaker 4: when Wynn Calls the Heart.
- 4:11Speaker 2: Oh, that it was renewed for a fourteenth season in
- 4:14Speaker 2: advance of the thirteen season dropping when we still have
- 4:18Speaker 2: not heard if a third season of Mistletoe Murders is
- 4:21Speaker 2: gonna come.
- 4:22Speaker 3: Yeah, what the heck man? And Laurie Laughlin is coming
- 4:25Speaker 3: back to the network. This is probably the wrong episode
- 4:27Speaker 3: to have a hot take on Wind Calls the Heart.
- 4:31Speaker 3: I have no notes on Wind Calls the Heart. I
- 4:33Speaker 3: don't watch the show. We did a first impression I
- 4:36Speaker 3: liked the first episode that I saw of it, but
- 4:38Speaker 3: I've never watched any of the other seasons after that.
- 4:42Speaker 2: Not that we don't want wyn Calls the Heart to
- 4:43Speaker 2: get renewed, we just want all of our other favorites
- 4:46Speaker 2: to get Yeah.
- 4:47Speaker 3: My concern that I voiced to you and now that
- 4:50Speaker 3: I'm going to tell the listeners of the podcast, I'm
- 4:52Speaker 3: a little bit concerned what Hallmark is doing. I'm afraid
- 4:57Speaker 3: that we're just walking backwards pre twenty twenty is do
- 5:01Speaker 3: you think that's happening.
- 5:03Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 5:03Speaker 2: I need to see more. Need I need to see more?
- 5:05Speaker 2: I don't know. We did see some new January movie
- 5:08Speaker 2: information come out, and some of our faiths are there,
- 5:10Speaker 2: Chris Paalaha and Lacey Shaverer, Ian Harding, there are some
- 5:13Speaker 2: good names. So I'm reserving judgment on the future of Hallmark.
- 5:18Speaker 2: I have fully believed that twenty twenty five was a
- 5:20Speaker 2: rebuilding year, and so I hope that remains to be
- 5:24Speaker 2: true for twenty twenty six. But there are so many
- 5:28Speaker 2: unknowns about what could be happening.
- 5:30Speaker 3: That I don't know. Yeah, I don't know. I'm not
- 5:32Speaker 3: trying to speculate here, No, But also am I going
- 5:37Speaker 3: to be like, Hi, I'm Wendy. I'm a Hallmark hater
- 5:40Speaker 3: in the New Year. I don't know.
- 5:43Speaker 2: Welcome to Girls Gone Network Television.
- 5:48Speaker 3: Didn't we just say we were gonna try to stay
- 5:50Speaker 3: on the rails with this one here?
- 5:52Speaker 2: Yeah, well we knew that was a last cause before
- 5:54Speaker 2: we started. Let's stalk the Christmas Cup and let's start
- 5:57Speaker 2: with the synopsis. I'm worried about what. I'm worried about
- 6:03Speaker 2: the state of the IMDb synopsis It's not bad, today's's
- 6:06Speaker 2: fine staff.
- 6:08Speaker 3: Sergeant Kelly Brandt, recovering from a knee injury, leads her
- 6:11Speaker 3: hometown team in an annual Christmas Cup. Despite her heart
- 6:15Speaker 3: aching for her career, she discovers there are multiple ways
- 6:18Speaker 3: to serve her community.
- 6:20Speaker 2: This was directed by Robin Dunn. This is his seventeenth
- 6:23Speaker 2: directing credit and his second Hallmark movie. His previous Hallmark
- 6:27Speaker 2: title was Entertaining Christmas in twenty eighteen. Most of his
- 6:30Speaker 2: other work looks and feels Hallmark adjacent, but aired on
- 6:34Speaker 2: different networks.
- 6:35Speaker 3: If you know what I'm putting down. The teleplay was
- 6:39Speaker 3: by Hold Your Horses, Guys, Stuart gold Mark, Hapuala, Emily Moss,
- 6:44Speaker 3: Wilson and Jason Shane Scott. Yes, there are four writers
- 6:48Speaker 3: on this movie. Do you want me to get into
- 6:50Speaker 3: details of it? Sure? Emily Moss Wilson has nine writing credits,
- 6:54Speaker 3: including My Southern Family Christmas, plus several other similar style
- 6:58Speaker 3: movies for other netws works. Jason Shane Scott has fifteen
- 7:02Speaker 3: writing credits, mostly thrillers like Listen to this List Secrets
- 7:07Speaker 3: of a Celebrity Nanny. These are all in my lane
- 7:11Speaker 3: too Deadly, daughter switch and engaged to a psycho. It
- 7:16Speaker 3: has to be lifetime, right, Yes. Stuart Gold has three
- 7:20Speaker 3: previous writing credits. This is his first for Hallmark as well.
- 7:23Speaker 3: Mark Haapala has seven writing credits. This is also his
- 7:27Speaker 3: first for Hallmark.
- 7:29Speaker 2: Rhiann and Fish stars as Kelly. She has thirty four
- 7:31Speaker 2: acting credits and recently appeared in two episodes of The
- 7:34Speaker 2: Chicken Sisters. She also starred in A Machu Pichu Proposal
- 7:38Speaker 2: and Polar Opposites this year. Benjamin Rosenbaum plays Quinn. He
- 7:42Speaker 2: has ten acting credits and is well known to win
- 7:44Speaker 2: calls the heart fans as Mike Hickham, with nearly one
- 7:48Speaker 2: hundred episodes under his belt. One hundred episodes I mean,
- 7:52Speaker 2: I guess it's on fourteen seasons or whatever it is.
- 7:55Speaker 2: Is he still currently on the show? You're asking the
- 7:57Speaker 2: wrong or I am. Natasha Burnette plays Brie. She has
- 8:00Speaker 2: twenty four acting credits and is also from The Wind
- 8:02Speaker 2: Calls the Heart universe, where she plays Minie. She's appeared
- 8:05Speaker 2: in Hallmark titles like Legend of the Lost Lockett and
- 8:08Speaker 2: Sweet Revenge, a Hannah Swinson mystery.
- 8:11Speaker 3: Michael Tagan plays Mickey. He has one hundred and three
- 8:14Speaker 3: acting credits and has been a in a long list
- 8:16Speaker 3: of Hallmark movies, including Game of Love, Roadhouse Romance, and
- 8:20Speaker 3: Dator's Handbook, which if you haven't seen Dater's Handbook, you
- 8:24Speaker 3: need to dig into the Hallmark Plus archives and watch
- 8:26Speaker 3: that because that is a great movie.
- 8:27Speaker 2: Chris Paula, Megan markle Yep Harlow Robbins plays Kip. This
- 8:32Speaker 2: is her first acting credit and.
- 8:34Speaker 3: For the Wind Calls the Heart fans. There is also
- 8:36Speaker 3: several cameo appearances Andrea Brooks, Pascal Hutton, and Kevin Smith.
- 8:43Speaker 2: This one is an all Canadian entertainment production with casting
- 8:46Speaker 2: by Judy Lee, not one of Hallmark's regular casting jury.
- 8:49Speaker 3: That actually should have been my digit that did you
- 8:52Speaker 3: notice that at the beginning of the movie it said
- 8:54Speaker 3: this is an all Canadian entertainment production. No, yeah, interesting, right,
- 9:00Speaker 3: and what does that mean? But I don't know.
- 9:03Speaker 2: Let's take a quick break and we will come back
- 9:05Speaker 2: with our first impressions. Hey, Wendy, what was your first
- 9:15Speaker 2: impression of the Christmas Cup After a weekend of Hallmark Bangers,
- 9:20Speaker 2: this one arrived with the energy of a movie that
- 9:22Speaker 2: I thought was airing on a Tuesday in June. My
- 9:25Speaker 2: first impression is, maybe it would have helped if we
- 9:27Speaker 2: were hearties.
- 9:29Speaker 3: Maybe it would have helped if we were hearties.
- 9:31Speaker 2: Well, let's talk what we liked about this movie.
- 9:34Speaker 3: This movie was perfectly fine. Fine is what I can
- 9:38Speaker 3: muster from it. Yeah, I think I was a little
- 9:42Speaker 3: bit disappointed, like this was their like button to the weekend. Yeah,
- 9:49Speaker 3: there was nothing offensive. There's nothing chaotic. It feels well,
- 9:53Speaker 3: okay chaotic in terms of it's not flat hygiene, it's
- 9:59Speaker 3: it's Yeah. I mean, there's like stupid stuff that I
- 10:03Speaker 3: not enjoying watching. But my point is like, there's nothing
- 10:07Speaker 3: offensive about it. I truly think this movie should have
- 10:10Speaker 3: been on another network. M It was like way safe
- 10:16Speaker 3: and in a season where we've had some smash hit movies. Yeah,
- 10:21Speaker 3: and a weekend and a weekend exactly. This does not
- 10:25Speaker 3: keep the pace with those others.
- 10:27Speaker 2: No, my thoughts are I think Rann and Fish and
- 10:29Speaker 2: Ben Rosenbaum do the heavy lifting here, and I think
- 10:32Speaker 2: they do what can be done with a story that
- 10:35Speaker 2: just isn't quite there, you know, maybe having too many
- 10:39Speaker 2: cooks in the kitchen, with the number of writers we had,
- 10:41Speaker 2: maybe we were heading into many different directions. I think
- 10:47Speaker 2: Rihanna and Ben are fine. I think they have some
- 10:49Speaker 2: sweet moments. I really enjoy Rann and Fish. Maybe this
- 10:53Speaker 2: wasn't the role for her, but I think she I
- 10:57Speaker 2: have some things to say about the tone of this movie,
- 10:59Speaker 2: but I think I think you could see the emotional conflict,
- 11:03Speaker 2: the inner turmoil she was going through in terms of
- 11:05Speaker 2: the life changes she was going to have to make
- 11:07Speaker 2: and the way some things were out of her control.
- 11:10Speaker 3: That was the best part of the movie.
- 11:11Speaker 2: Yeah, for me, that was.
- 11:13Speaker 3: The best part of the movie. I was like those
- 11:15Speaker 3: emotional beats where she was like in this transition of
- 11:18Speaker 3: I've been hurt, now my career is in jeopardy. What
- 11:21Speaker 3: am I going to do next? That was the good
- 11:25Speaker 3: stuff of the movie, and I thought she as an
- 11:28Speaker 3: actor handled that stuff really well. All the other nonsense
- 11:32Speaker 3: in this movie didn't work for me.
- 11:35Speaker 2: Right, there's anything else you liked?
- 11:36Speaker 3: I do believe that this quote Christmas cup concept had potential. Yes,
- 11:43Speaker 3: if you think about last year's twas the date before Christmas,
- 11:46Speaker 3: they had like a family Olympics. Yeah, and that was
- 11:50Speaker 3: very enjoyable to watch. This could have been that. It
- 11:55Speaker 3: just didn't get there for me.
- 11:58Speaker 2: There's some funny dialogue in this I like when her
- 12:00Speaker 2: dad says say hello to Captain Hotpants. For me, when
- 12:03Speaker 2: Caven and Pascal have their on screen cameo and they
- 12:07Speaker 2: realize they know each other. How long has it been?
- 12:09Speaker 2: Like a century? I laughed out loud. That was funny.
- 12:12Speaker 3: I thought that their little meet cute on there was
- 12:16Speaker 3: real cute, really cute. It was like one of my
- 12:19Speaker 3: favorite highlights, to.
- 12:20Speaker 2: Be honest, When when Rhiannon and Ben's characters are at
- 12:24Speaker 2: the firehouse and they're gonna rap gifts, he goes, should
- 12:27Speaker 2: we make some Christmas magic? And Kelly pauses, it has
- 12:32Speaker 2: real this is where the magic happens. From MTV cribs
- 12:35Speaker 2: all over it. He goes, you know, wrap some presents.
- 12:39Speaker 2: I thought it was funny. I thought it was a
- 12:40Speaker 2: little wink in and nod Right there.
- 12:42Speaker 3: You want to move on to wishes? I do, Okay,
- 12:45Speaker 3: why don't you start us.
- 12:46Speaker 2: Off while I realize I do need to suspend disbelief
- 12:49Speaker 2: to watch some Hallmark movies personally, for me, when the
- 12:53Speaker 2: conflict revolves around characters that are like cartoon super villains,
- 12:57Speaker 2: it begins to defy believability. Mayor Sheila, my daughter Penelope,
- 13:02Speaker 2: these are not how real people behave.
- 13:04Speaker 3: Yeah, let's hope not not in our lives.
- 13:06Speaker 2: I just don't believe. I think there are genuinely bad, mean,
- 13:10Speaker 2: snide people. But I just I felt like it had
- 13:13Speaker 2: the like, oh yeah aspect to it, and I wasn't
- 13:17Speaker 2: quite there. Also, back to my first impression, I think
- 13:22Speaker 2: if I were a Hardy I would have had my
- 13:25Speaker 2: Peter Benson Peter Benson style moments watching this movie. It's
- 13:30Speaker 2: it's Kevin Smith right with many of the actors. Alas
- 13:35Speaker 2: I am not, and so I missed those moments.
- 13:38Speaker 3: Yeah, I would love to hear from like the Hardys,
- 13:41Speaker 3: like email us girls gone homework at gmail dot com,
- 13:43Speaker 3: Like was this awesome? For you because there were so
- 13:46Speaker 3: many of your faves popping up in it. I have
- 13:48Speaker 3: a couple more rooms remy Yeah, go ahead.
- 13:50Speaker 2: So they give a lot of weight to the Christmas
- 13:52Speaker 2: Cup in this movie, as if it's this big meaningful
- 13:55Speaker 2: thing and about her mom used to lead the team
- 13:58Speaker 2: and she's taking on this big role. And yet the
- 14:01Speaker 2: Christmas of itself, it's chugging eggnog and snowball fight. The
- 14:06Speaker 2: tone of the Christmas Cup and the tone of the
- 14:09Speaker 2: way they talk about the Christmas Cup do not match.
- 14:12Speaker 3: Yeah, I agree with you all that hyjiinks, the silly
- 14:15Speaker 3: stuff with the Christmas Cup, the egg nog chugging, the
- 14:18Speaker 3: girl desperately wanting to sing.
- 14:21Speaker 2: However, when the other towns guy gets up and does
- 14:25Speaker 2: a beautiful silent night, Yeah, pretty funny.
- 14:27Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 14:27Speaker 2: Put the rest of it.
- 14:29Speaker 3: Yeah, all that competition prep stuff like I don't know
- 14:31Speaker 3: how to undo the tangled lights wants to make my
- 14:37Speaker 3: head explode.
- 14:38Speaker 2: Yeah. And finally, Bree's restaurant situation, her speech about why
- 14:44Speaker 2: she couldn't sell her restaurant. She's trying to explain to
- 14:48Speaker 2: Kelly why it would be important, why she needs to
- 14:50Speaker 2: invest in the town and come home She's like, that's
- 14:53Speaker 2: why I couldn't sell my restaurant. I would have been
- 14:55Speaker 2: giving up on my family. And sometimes plans change. Yeah,
- 15:00Speaker 2: life circumstances, Life throws things that you. Kelly didn't anticipate
- 15:04Speaker 2: getting injured. She didn't anticipate this career change. She didn't
- 15:06Speaker 2: anticipate having to make these decisions. It's just a little
- 15:09Speaker 2: heavy handed.
- 15:10Speaker 3: I have a couple questions for you. Yes, when we
- 15:14Speaker 3: heard this movie was coming out, where like Rhann and
- 15:16Speaker 3: Fish as a military personnel, I'm like, I don't buy
- 15:22Speaker 3: it at all.
- 15:24Speaker 2: I kind of bought it.
- 15:26Speaker 3: Yeah, me too, a little bit, me too coming home
- 15:29Speaker 3: and she's like in the uniform and all that stuff,
- 15:31Speaker 3: and she's real sweet to that little girl that's like,
- 15:33Speaker 3: thank you for your service, and that was really sweet.
- 15:36Speaker 2: Loved that, Like I kind of bought it.
- 15:39Speaker 3: I think maybe I was like expecting something else, so
- 15:43Speaker 3: I was pleasantly surprised by that part of it.
- 15:46Speaker 2: I did read some things.
- 15:49Speaker 3: I don't know if it was on Reddit or Facebook
- 15:51Speaker 3: or where, but they said some of the uniform was.
- 15:54Speaker 2: Oh, it's all my DIGITSI okay, well we're.
- 15:55Speaker 3: Gonna wait to that. Then one of my biggest wishes
- 15:59Speaker 3: is that I didn't really buy into the romance between
- 16:03Speaker 3: Kelly and Quinn. Yeah, like I just there was like
- 16:05Speaker 3: nothing there and that scene where he overhears classic trope,
- 16:11Speaker 3: but he overhears Kelly and the friend talking yes, like
- 16:15Speaker 3: the friend is giving her a hard time, like you're
- 16:17Speaker 3: gonna leave, Like don't you want to see where this
- 16:20Speaker 3: goes with this guy? I'm like no, no, But first
- 16:23Speaker 3: Kelly's line is like he's practically a stranger. I was like, oh, yeah,
- 16:27Speaker 3: it hurts.
- 16:27Speaker 2: I didn't like that because the idea is supposed to
- 16:30Speaker 2: be like that trope is supposed to be like you misunderstood, Yeah,
- 16:34Speaker 2: he didn't misunderstand her. No, you just said we're just friends.
- 16:36Speaker 2: He's a stranger. And then she has to go back
- 16:38Speaker 2: to and be like, well I didn't mean what I said. Yeah,
- 16:41Speaker 2: but you did say it. He didn't misunderstand Nope, yeah,
- 16:44Speaker 2: exactly exactly.
- 16:45Speaker 3: But regardless, there was right no, like if you want
- 16:50Speaker 3: to see sparks fly off the TV screen, Watcheryan and
- 16:53Speaker 3: Fish and Tyler Hines.
- 16:54Speaker 2: And a picture of her every time, they're so good. Yeah,
- 16:57Speaker 2: but this they were so good. I was convinced they
- 16:59Speaker 2: were dating in real life. Yeah, I know, I remember,
- 17:01Speaker 2: I remember.
- 17:02Speaker 3: Yeah, Sonay, that's it.
- 17:04Speaker 2: Well, let's talk Did you see that the.
- 17:06Speaker 3: Christmas Cup happens on Christmas Day?
- 17:10Speaker 2: I don't even think I knew that.
- 17:13Speaker 3: And that's like your biggest pet peeve something happening on
- 17:15Speaker 3: Christmas Eve or Christmas.
- 17:16Speaker 2: Day, participating in a town competition on Christmas Day. I'm
- 17:19Speaker 2: also not participating in any competition on Christmas Day. I
- 17:23Speaker 2: want to stay in my pajamas. I want to open presents,
- 17:25Speaker 2: eat food, enjoy my home with my children and my
- 17:28Speaker 2: family and my dogs.
- 17:29Speaker 3: Totally hold on. I'm sorry.
- 17:32Speaker 2: If I'm married into a family that was like we
- 17:34Speaker 2: participate in competitions on Christmas Day, I'd be like, I'm out, goodbye.
- 17:38Speaker 2: Speaking of did you see the TikTok? You know what
- 17:40Speaker 2: I'm gonna say, let's talk about it of the family
- 17:44Speaker 2: that pranked the fiance of the brother saying we're a
- 17:48Speaker 2: turkey trot family. And she goes all in. She trains,
- 17:51Speaker 2: she buys a cute Thanksgiving sparkle skirt. They got shirts made,
- 17:55Speaker 2: and then they're taking the picture and they're.
- 17:56Speaker 3: Like just kidding, Yeah, did you see her face?
- 18:00Speaker 2: They're like, she loves pranks.
- 18:01Speaker 3: Nope, this is what I would have done. I would
- 18:04Speaker 3: have been I would I would end that relationship.
- 18:06Speaker 2: I would have gone home. I would have ended the relationship.
- 18:08Speaker 2: In my twenties, I probably would have just sat there.
- 18:11Speaker 2: But now, yeah, no, I'd be like, this is a
- 18:14Speaker 2: sign of things to come. Totally not funny, especially when
- 18:18Speaker 2: it's at someone else. There's a way to do a
- 18:20Speaker 2: prank that's harmless. This wasn't it.
- 18:22Speaker 3: No, I agree at HRTs, this is the family you're
- 18:24Speaker 3: marrying into. Yeah, Nope, nope, nope, nope, red flags runaway
- 18:29Speaker 3: bridegirl run. I would have been like, watch me run bye,
- 18:34Speaker 3: right out of your lives. Guys.
- 18:35Speaker 2: Yes, okay. If you go on IMDb or read it,
- 18:39Speaker 2: there are so many comments about how they did things incorrectly.
- 18:45Speaker 2: This IMDb comment says the uniform is so far from
- 18:47Speaker 2: a proper military, let alone US Marine Corps uniform, that
- 18:50Speaker 2: I had to leave the room until she changed. Oh,
- 18:54Speaker 2: stripes wrong wrong uniform, pants, no tie with jacket, wrong jacket,
- 18:58Speaker 2: The cover had no USMCM. Please please please represent and
- 19:03Speaker 2: honor our veterans with the proper attire That feels like
- 19:06Speaker 2: a fair ask, then listener Paula. I knew Paula would
- 19:12Speaker 2: ride in YOL. She commented on our first impression post
- 19:15Speaker 2: on Instagram, and since this is public, I'm going to
- 19:17Speaker 2: share it. She says. I apologize for bringing this up again,
- 19:20Speaker 2: but Rhann and Fish at the beginning of the movie
- 19:22Speaker 2: was wearing an army uniform and carrying a USMC bag
- 19:25Speaker 2: while calling ourselves a marine, which is at least consistent
- 19:28Speaker 2: since she called herself a soldier while being a marine.
- 19:30Speaker 2: She also had no insignia on her cover. I feel
- 19:33Speaker 2: bad for her demotion. She went from captain to sergeant.
- 19:36Speaker 2: This is just ludicrous. At this point, she then goes
- 19:38Speaker 2: on to say there's more her Army rank insignia. It's
- 19:41Speaker 2: yellow not USMC. Red is upside down, and it's a
- 19:44Speaker 2: sergeant rank, not a staff sergeant. Both services have the
- 19:47Speaker 2: point facing up. Navy has the point down. Oh wow,
- 19:52Speaker 2: it feels like the bare minimum to me to do
- 19:55Speaker 2: this research. Yeah. The number of people who are commenting
- 19:59Speaker 2: like Paya is x military.
- 20:00Speaker 3: Right.
- 20:00Speaker 2: There's people on IMDb who are casual watchers. These aren't consultants.
- 20:05Speaker 2: If the average person who was in the military, of
- 20:08Speaker 2: which there are many many, many could have told you
- 20:11Speaker 2: what you were doing wrong. Yeah, it doesn't seem like
- 20:14Speaker 2: it would be that hard to get that memory.
- 20:15Speaker 3: Well, and Google exists too, But how if you're doing
- 20:20Speaker 3: a movie with such a heavy military influence you I
- 20:27Speaker 3: think you would go to an expert, a consultant. Hey,
- 20:30Speaker 3: let's get this one detail right because it matters to
- 20:34Speaker 3: the people who belong to these things, right. Yeah, I
- 20:39Speaker 3: think that's sloppy work. I have one more.
- 20:41Speaker 2: Did you see that?
- 20:43Speaker 3: It's not that exciting, but they surprised Kelly with a
- 20:45Speaker 3: cake at the end that says like a Looha Kelly
- 20:49Speaker 3: on it. Legit stickers for the writing on the cake stickers,
- 20:56Speaker 3: sparkly stickers I would have got at my local craft store. Yeah, bad, bad.
- 21:03Speaker 2: Who shuts down a party? Who shows up at a
- 21:06Speaker 2: random party for a returning service member and it's like
- 21:08Speaker 2: you're over fire code get out?
- 21:10Speaker 3: No, I know, get out dom.
- 21:12Speaker 2: I also laughed, we almost have a thousand subscribers on
- 21:15Speaker 2: our YouTube channel and now I'm a restaurant worthy chef.
- 21:18Speaker 3: I did enjoy the silliness with that. Dad, as someone
- 21:22Speaker 3: who's made YouTube videos like the grind is hard, guys, so.
