- 0:04Speaker 1: Like, all right, well, we're gonna see if it's gonna
- 1:27Speaker 1: let me go. I don't know what's going on, but
- 1:30Speaker 1: we keep having some technical difference. It says I'm offline,
- 1:33Speaker 1: but I can see my vibe, y'all. I guess he
- 1:37Speaker 1: want to do what they want to do to night. Well,
- 1:39Speaker 1: we're gonna keep pressing. We keep pushing, we don't stop,
- 1:41Speaker 1: we keep going. So welcome, welcome, Welcome, welco and welcome, y'all. Welcome, welcome.
- 1:45Speaker 1: I am, of course, I am not Patrice. I am,
- 1:50Speaker 1: of course the visionary. I am Angela Thomas Smith. I
- 1:55Speaker 1: am the visionary here on the Croup Podcast. Patrisa had
- 2:01Speaker 1: a family emergency on tonight, so, like always, y'all, I
- 2:06Speaker 1: am the one that has to step in. It is
- 2:08Speaker 1: my duty to make sure that we're able to fulfill
- 2:13Speaker 1: our end of the bargain. And our end of the
- 2:15Speaker 1: bargain is to be live here on the network Sunday
- 2:20Speaker 1: through Friday at eight pm. So I wanted to make
- 2:24Speaker 1: sure that I was holding up that end of the
- 2:27Speaker 1: bargain tonight. So I am currently live on kick Twitch, YouTube, Facebook,
- 2:37Speaker 1: and TikTok, y'all. So I am I wanted to show
- 2:42Speaker 1: those that are on TikTok a little bit of what
- 2:44Speaker 1: I do back here in the background, so they can
- 2:47Speaker 1: see a little bit of who I am. So I
- 2:50Speaker 1: was just fooling around with that. So y'all, welcome, welcome, welcome.
- 2:53Speaker 1: So tonight Patrisa has given me instructions on what she
- 2:57Speaker 1: wants me to share. She is doing a summer reading contest, y'all.
- 3:04Speaker 1: Y'all have a summer reading contest if you have purchased
- 3:09Speaker 1: a copy of the magazine. For those that do not know,
- 3:13Speaker 1: we have a magazine. It is called Aspiring Authors Magazine.
- 3:17Speaker 1: It is available through Blurb, Matt Cloud. It is available
- 3:22Speaker 1: on Amazon. You can get it in digital or you
- 3:25Speaker 1: can get it in print. But she is running Patrice
- 3:30Speaker 1: is over the book section of the magazine. Of course,
- 3:34Speaker 1: we touch on community. We have a community section. We
- 3:38Speaker 1: have a poetry section, which are seeing more. Our poet
- 3:42Speaker 1: of the Year for twenty twenty five is over that
- 3:45Speaker 1: section of the book of the magazine. We also have
- 3:49Speaker 1: a business section, y'all. In most of the things around
- 3:53Speaker 1: business is around business as a creative or business as
- 3:58Speaker 1: a author. For those that may not know, I was
- 4:02Speaker 1: recently interviewed for the Art South Carolina Arts Commission a
- 4:09Speaker 1: part of an initiative that they're doing to really highlight
- 4:14Speaker 1: and showcase creatives and those that have creative jobs as
- 4:21Speaker 1: as their livelihood. So they're starting to really recognize creatives
- 4:27Speaker 1: and those entrepreneurs that operate in a creative role as
- 4:33Speaker 1: a job, as a profession. So I had opportunity to
- 4:37Speaker 1: interview with Coastal Carolina University. They featured me on their website.
- 4:43Speaker 1: It was called Uncharted South Carolina, and what they were
- 4:46Speaker 1: doing was highlighting those in South Carolina that follow in
- 4:51Speaker 1: that category. So we have the opportunity to share our
- 4:56Speaker 1: brands and to share our different things on the these
- 5:00Speaker 1: different websites that are connected with high schools within the
- 5:04Speaker 1: South Carolina area and those that are coming to Coastal Carolina.
- 5:10Speaker 1: I guess that's what it was. But y'all, we had
- 5:13Speaker 1: to go through the little background check. We had to
- 5:15Speaker 1: get a SLED. For those that live in South Carolina know,
- 5:17Speaker 1: we had to get a SLED background check so they
- 5:19Speaker 1: can make sure that you didn't have any anything against children.
- 5:24Speaker 1: They didn't want you to have any type of anything
- 5:26Speaker 1: against children to be represented on the website. If you
- 5:30Speaker 1: had any type of background, you could not be featured
- 5:34Speaker 1: on the website. So that just I just wanted to
- 5:37Speaker 1: throw that out there because those that is one of
- 5:39Speaker 1: the opportunities that I had. I shared it with other
- 5:42Speaker 1: individuals that live in South Carolina so they could also
- 5:46Speaker 1: get their brands out there and share their brands. Y'all.
- 5:48Speaker 1: That's what we do over here. We don't gaslight. We
- 5:50Speaker 1: share if we if we get opportunities, we share these opportunities.
- 5:55Speaker 1: That's one thing that we do. A part of the
- 5:57Speaker 1: one hundred Author Movement, a part of the Magi, a
- 6:00Speaker 1: part of the Crew podcast. Anything that you see my
- 6:04Speaker 1: name attached to, y'all, I'm telling you, it's all around
- 6:07Speaker 1: the Four Seas, and the four Seas is connect, collaborate, create,
- 6:12Speaker 1: and community. Bill, I'm all about the community. I'm all
- 6:15Speaker 1: about us connecting. I'm all about collaborating because, y'all, we
- 6:18Speaker 1: can't do this song. It takes It takes us all, y'all,
- 6:22Speaker 1: we all got a part to play in and what
- 6:27Speaker 1: we're doing, we all have a part. So let me
- 6:31Speaker 1: go over what Patrice has outlined for tonight, and it
- 6:38Speaker 1: is to go over the South Carolina book. Yeall and
- 6:43Speaker 1: France present the South Carolina Reading So you read, you track,
- 6:48Speaker 1: you win. That that's that's that's the title, Read Track Win.
- 6:52Speaker 1: So it actually started on June eighteenth. If you have
- 6:55Speaker 1: been following Patrice on her website, if you've been following
- 6:58Speaker 1: her on the podcast, and if you've been following along
- 7:01Speaker 1: in the magazine, if you have been reading a magazine,
- 7:05Speaker 1: you know that this started on the eighteenth, which was
- 7:08Speaker 1: about six days ago, and it's going to go into
- 7:11Speaker 1: August the thirty first, So y'all still got time, You
- 7:13Speaker 1: still got time to join what it is it is.
- 7:18Speaker 1: Y'all know, summer time, kids may want a slack off.
- 7:22Speaker 1: They may, and that is the time when we really
- 7:24Speaker 1: need to stay on the kids because that's when they
- 7:27Speaker 1: don't have all of that structure so that they've learned.
- 7:31Speaker 1: They can forget it over the summer if we don't
- 7:34Speaker 1: keep them engaged, and we don't keep them occupied and
- 7:37Speaker 1: keep them utilizing those things that they have taken in
- 7:41Speaker 1: throughout the school year. So the summer is the perfect
- 7:44Speaker 1: time to unwind with great books. This year, she said,
- 7:49Speaker 1: we are doing a literary payoff. So South Carolina Book
- 7:54Speaker 1: Gallon Friends Summer Reading Contest is officially underway, and when
- 7:58Speaker 1: you are invited to come, all readers, all age can
- 8:04Speaker 1: join in the fun. And this is a motivating way
- 8:09Speaker 1: to enjoy books and to win prices, y'all. Whether you
- 8:12Speaker 1: are flipping through novels, poetryes, memoirs, or comics, every page
- 8:18Speaker 1: you read counts towards a weekly entry into an Amazon
- 8:21Speaker 1: gift card. Now she gonna be giving away gift cards.
- 8:25Speaker 1: She's gonna be giving away some gift cards. I may
- 8:27Speaker 1: have to pick up some books and read. So how
- 8:30Speaker 1: it works is you gotta go over to her website
- 8:33Speaker 1: and that is ww dot South Carolina book Gal and
- 8:37Speaker 1: Friends dot com. And if I can maneuver, y'all, I'm
- 8:40Speaker 1: gonna see if I can maneuver. If I can maneuver,
- 8:43Speaker 1: I'm gonna try to get this up in the comment
- 8:47Speaker 1: section for you guys. But again, the website is ww
- 8:51Speaker 1: South Carolina book Gal and Friends dot com and you
- 8:55Speaker 1: can look at the post label Summer Reading. And this
- 9:00Speaker 1: is where you can track and report your weekly readings
- 9:03Speaker 1: and your totals. So reading track log every page you
- 9:09Speaker 1: read this summer, whether you're diving into fiction, non fiction,
- 9:12Speaker 1: or even graphic novels. It all adds up. So this
- 9:16Speaker 1: is what happens. You earn entries one entry for every
- 9:20Speaker 1: fifty page you read, So every fifty pages you read,
- 9:24Speaker 1: you'll get an entry into the drawing for the gift card.
- 9:30Speaker 1: So for every fifty page, you get an entry. So
- 9:32Speaker 1: if you read a book that's three hundred pages, that
- 9:35Speaker 1: is what two for six, that's six entries. You get
- 9:40Speaker 1: six entries because you get it's fifty you get one
- 9:44Speaker 1: entry for each fifty pages. Bonus entries is there's a
- 9:49Speaker 1: secret word each week that Patrice gives out on the podcast,
- 9:56Speaker 1: so you have to tune into the podcast to get

- 10:07Speaker 1: on the podcast. And y'all we stream through YouTube, We
- 10:11Speaker 1: stream through twitch kick and the Crew podcast Facebook page.
- 10:20Speaker 1: I'm also I usually go live over here on TikTok.
- 10:24Speaker 1: It's not a full live because I don't know how
- 10:27Speaker 1: to integrate the actual live to my laptop, So I
- 10:35Speaker 1: go live on my phone and then I just scream
- 10:39Speaker 1: I show the screen so you can so those on
- 10:41Speaker 1: TikTok and see what's going on on the screen. So
- 10:45Speaker 1: if you want to really see what's going on. I
- 10:48Speaker 1: suggest that you just go over to Facebook and follow
- 10:52Speaker 1: the Crew podcast on Facebook, and when we go live,

- 15:08Speaker 1: your event, So you never know who's in the mist.

- 15:17Speaker 1: the secret word is let me post the secret word.

- 18:14Speaker 1: that's the website that you can go to and find
- 18:18Speaker 1: the post that says summer It says summer Reading. You're
- 18:25Speaker 1: going to be looking for a post that says and
- 18:28Speaker 1: I think it's in all caps, so let me put
- 18:30Speaker 1: it in all caps. It says Summer Reading twenty twenty five.
- 18:52Speaker 1: And everything that I just shared should be over on
- 18:55Speaker 1: the website. If you go over to the website, you
- 18:57Speaker 1: should be able to find all of the information that
- 19:00Speaker 1: I just shared it with you guys. Again, it is
- 19:04Speaker 1: a summer reading contest for those that want to read.
- 19:13Speaker 1: We are also doing a summer writing contests for those
- 19:21Speaker 1: that want to possibly write and submit some entries for
- 19:25Speaker 1: the magazine. I think I've shared the information inside of
- 19:29Speaker 1: the magazine. So if you are not grabbing your free
- 19:33Speaker 1: copy when we put the digital copy on for free
- 19:36Speaker 1: so that you can keep up with the information, and

- 19:43Speaker 1: Every month, a couple of weeks after the magazine drop,
- 19:49Speaker 1: so usually into the second week into the month after
- 19:54Speaker 1: that magazine drops. It's usually free through ebooks. User can
- 20:00Speaker 1: download it, flip through those pages, and if you want
- 20:04Speaker 1: to get a printed copy, you can get a printed copy.
- 20:07Speaker 1: The printed copies are always available. They you can go
- 20:12Speaker 1: back all the way back to the first copy that
- 20:15Speaker 1: we actually printed. If you want to go back and
- 20:18Speaker 1: get an archive copy, you can go back and get
- 20:21Speaker 1: an archive copy. It is always available. As long as
- 20:27Speaker 1: this company is up and running, that that that magazine
- 20:30Speaker 1: will be available. So it's always archive And I tell
- 20:37Speaker 1: people if you're looking to share your brand, this is
- 20:40Speaker 1: an opportunity for you to also share your brand as well,
- 20:43Speaker 1: because you can get features inside of the magazine. We
- 20:46Speaker 1: have a whole section where we do features where we
- 20:52Speaker 1: highlight your brands. We highlight If you are author, we
- 20:55Speaker 1: highlight you as an author. If you are business on
- 20:57Speaker 1: we highlight your business. But there's opportunities for you to
- 21:02Speaker 1: grab features. One page is usually will run you about
- 21:06Speaker 1: fifty to fifty three dollars. If you want to get
- 21:09Speaker 1: a printed copy of the magazine, it's normally twenty five
- 21:12Speaker 1: dollars for a printed copy, so about seventy five dollars.
- 21:15Speaker 1: You can get a one page feature and a copy
- 21:19Speaker 1: of the printed magazine. And our magazine drops every month
- 21:28Speaker 1: and again. Patrise always run contests. She's always having something
- 21:37Speaker 1: over on, always having something going on inside of the magazine.
- 21:44Speaker 1: She gave away Kendle. She don't give away Kendles. She
- 21:48Speaker 1: don't give away gift cards. She she's always doing something
- 21:52Speaker 1: to show those that support her podcast, those that support
- 21:57Speaker 1: her as a book reviewer, because she she does professional
- 22:01Speaker 1: book reviews. She is a librarian, has been a librarian
- 22:06Speaker 1: for now. I think she's in her twentieth year. She's
- 22:11Speaker 1: a black librarian out of Charleston, South Carolina. If you
- 22:16Speaker 1: heard of the Emmanuel Nine, her mentor was actually a
- 22:23Speaker 1: victim of the Emmanuel Nine. They just had a library
- 22:27Speaker 1: renamed after her as well as they just had an event.
- 22:32Speaker 1: But she is very good at what she do. If
- 22:37Speaker 1: you want a detailed account of your book, she's the
- 22:43Speaker 1: one to do it. She's gonna be brutally honest, but
- 22:49Speaker 1: she's not gonna be hard like. She's gonna tell the truth,
- 22:53Speaker 1: and she's gonna tell you what she thinks to help
- 22:57Speaker 1: you improve it. So if you want to go back
- 23:00Speaker 1: and change it and edit it and revise that you can.
- 23:05Speaker 1: Even if you don't want to go back and change it.
- 23:08Speaker 1: At least you know for the next book. See, that's
- 23:10Speaker 1: what we do over here. We may not go back
- 23:14Speaker 1: and change it, but at least we know for the
- 23:18Speaker 1: next book. We know what you are expecting, what you're
- 23:22Speaker 1: looking for for the next book. Now, all the time,
- 23:25Speaker 1: we have the luxury to go back and do another
- 23:30Speaker 1: addition or revise, do revisions or whatever. So we take
- 23:35Speaker 1: notes and we try to do better for the next one.
- 23:40Speaker 1: It's always a growing process. It's always a process of
- 23:44Speaker 1: us going to the next level and trying to reach
- 23:47Speaker 1: that next level. So in doing that, we have to
- 23:52Speaker 1: stay we really have to stay vigilant, and we have
- 23:56Speaker 1: to stay visible. Like I keep telling people the importance
- 24:02Speaker 1: of visibility. You know a lot of people want to
- 24:05Speaker 1: they they they want to move in silence. Okay, that's
- 24:09Speaker 1: all fine and dandy. But everywhere that I read and
- 24:12Speaker 1: that word, y'all, it just it just seemed like everywhere
- 24:15Speaker 1: in that word, he wanted us to be help makes
- 24:18Speaker 1: one to another. He wanted us uplifting one another. He
- 24:21Speaker 1: wanted us to to to to be brothers and sisters
- 24:26Speaker 1: and not be distanced and not be at war with
- 24:29Speaker 1: each other. So I just I love collaborating and I
- 24:36Speaker 1: love coming together and pulling resources and helping individuals to
- 24:43Speaker 1: you know, be their best version of themselves. At the
- 24:46Speaker 1: end of the day, I can't take none of this
- 24:49Speaker 1: with me. You know, if if if I leave here tomorrow,
- 24:53Speaker 1: I want I want the Creator to say that I
- 24:58Speaker 1: have have done my job, that that I did well,
- 25:02Speaker 1: well done, my good and faithful servant. That those are
- 25:04Speaker 1: the words that I want to ring in my ears.
- 25:08Speaker 1: So I don't want to I don't want to leave
- 25:10Speaker 1: anything unturned. I don't want to have visions. I don't
- 25:14Speaker 1: want to have things in me that could have came
- 25:18Speaker 1: out and blessed somebody. So every day I'm trying to
- 25:21Speaker 1: pull it out. I'm trying to pull it out. And
- 25:24Speaker 1: those that know me and come in contact with me
- 25:27Speaker 1: know that if I see something in you, if I
- 25:29Speaker 1: see a gift in you, I see a talent in you,
- 25:31Speaker 1: and I see that you are not moving or are
- 25:34Speaker 1: trying to operate in that that I know He's called
- 25:36Speaker 1: you to. Y'all know I'm gonna say something. They already know,
- 25:40Speaker 1: they already know I had We have seven hosts on
- 25:47Speaker 1: the network. Well, I'm sorry, Hold on where that came from, y'all?
- 25:52Speaker 1: We got nine hosts on the network. My bad. We
- 25:57Speaker 1: have nine hosts on the network, and I can tell
- 26:01Speaker 1: you about about six of them probably wanted to quit
- 26:06Speaker 1: before we even started, and they probably quit in their
- 26:09Speaker 1: mind probably a twenty thirty times. But yet they're still here,
- 26:14Speaker 1: and yet God is still using them. He is allowing
- 26:18Speaker 1: them to utilize their gifts, their talents and be a
- 26:23Speaker 1: voice for that person that may not think that they
- 26:25Speaker 1: have a voice. You know, as I was preparing to
- 26:28Speaker 1: come on here, I got a little sidetracked because I
- 26:31Speaker 1: was looking at the young lady that lost her life
- 26:37Speaker 1: here in Georgia, not this past weekend, but the weekend before.
- 26:43Speaker 1: It was the weekend of Father's Day, of Father's Day,
- 26:48Speaker 1: And it is sad because it was so many opportunities
- 26:57Speaker 1: and so many chances that they both could have walked away.
- 27:04Speaker 1: But you never know, like you never know what somebody's
- 27:08Speaker 1: going through and what their mindset is when you go
- 27:11Speaker 1: into these situations. But for the lights of me, I
- 27:20Speaker 1: don't see how you on the phone with somebody and
- 27:27Speaker 1: they lay there for a hour, hour and a half.
- 27:34Speaker 1: From what I understand, I don't understand that, y'all, But
- 27:42Speaker 1: only God knows. And he makes no mistake. You know,
- 27:46Speaker 1: he makes no mistake, even with all the stuff that
- 27:51Speaker 1: we see going on the war, you know, all this
- 27:59Speaker 1: stuff that individuals are just overlooking and bypassing. Like, we
- 28:09Speaker 1: have to get back to a place of loving ourselves,
- 28:15Speaker 1: because when you love yourself, then you can love your
- 28:19Speaker 1: brother and your sister, you can love your neighbor. But
- 28:25Speaker 1: we got to get back to that place where we
- 28:29Speaker 1: love ourselves. No. If if you don't love yourself, it's
- 28:37Speaker 1: hard to love your brothers and your sisters. That's why
- 28:39Speaker 1: I keep telling people, you know, if we got aught
- 28:42Speaker 1: with people, if we holding grudges, we holding stuff. If
- 28:46Speaker 1: we're holding grudges against one person, y'all, it's just like
- 28:49Speaker 1: holding grudges against everybody. But one thing that helped me
- 28:54Speaker 1: to not harbor a lot of stuff is now my
- 28:59Speaker 1: mama used to tell She used to tell me this
- 29:01Speaker 1: thing all the time, y'all. And y'all, my mom's been
- 29:05Speaker 1: going thirty one years. Babab died twelve days after my
- 29:13Speaker 1: sixteenth birthday. She transitioned twelve days after my sixteenth birthday.
- 29:17Speaker 1: So she's been going for a while, y'all. Because I'm
- 29:18Speaker 1: fifty and she always used to say, you know, all
- 29:25Speaker 1: these emotions and feelings, y'all be heaving. She said, you
- 29:28Speaker 1: might as well just keep it to yourself when you
- 29:30Speaker 1: be mad at somebody, Keep it to yourself, she said,
- 29:32Speaker 1: because it's just like pissing on yourself. Don't nobody feel
- 29:35Speaker 1: that but you? She said, So why are you around
- 29:37Speaker 1: here mad at somebody? She said? These people don't going
- 29:40Speaker 1: on with their life. They around here happy, and you
- 29:42Speaker 1: round here pissing on yourself, and ain't nobody feeling it
- 29:44Speaker 1: with you? So you know what? But kept telling me,
- 29:48Speaker 1: I say, you know what, ain't nobody feeling this? Ain't
- 29:52Speaker 1: nobody So what's need me carrying it around? What's it
- 29:54Speaker 1: need me hovering it and making myself sick? Because that's
- 29:58Speaker 1: what it's gonna do. A lot of us that walk
- 30:02Speaker 1: around with ailments, it's because we're hobbing stuff, because we
- 30:12Speaker 1: were holding on to stuff. Because if we free ourselves, y'all,
- 30:18Speaker 1: things will be a whole lot better. Okay, well, y'all,
- 30:21Speaker 1: I'm gonna get on off here. I just jumped on
- 30:24Speaker 1: so that I could share what Patrice wanted to come
- 30:27Speaker 1: forth on tonight, and that was to make sure that
- 30:29Speaker 1: you guys knew about the reading program. Get evolved, get
- 30:37Speaker 1: involved in the reading contest, y'all. It's an opportunity to
- 30:41Speaker 1: win you some gift cards, opportunity to find you some
- 30:45Speaker 1: new books. I mean, it's just an opportunity to not
- 30:50Speaker 1: get stabn at where you are. Okay, get your babies involved,
- 30:59Speaker 1: get maybe some books. Start your own personal library. If
- 31:04Speaker 1: your child don't have a personal library, you can develop
- 31:07Speaker 1: a personal library. All these black authors around here, now
- 31:11Speaker 1: you can develop your own library that has books that
- 31:15Speaker 1: represent your babies. Okay, so y'all, I'm about to jump off.

- 31:56Speaker 1: so I'll be on tomorrow. Starting in July, we're gonna
- 32:00Speaker 1: have a new host who's gonna be holding down second
- 32:05Speaker 1: and fourth Wednesday. So we will have a new host
- 32:07Speaker 1: that will be on second and fourth Wednesdays. We do
- 32:12Speaker 1: have some spots available, y'all. We do have three spots available.

- 33:15Speaker 1: Matter of the Hearts and Heart is healing, empowerment, alignment, resilience,
- 33:23Speaker 1: and trauma. That's those are the topics that we talk about.
- 33:28Speaker 1: God dropped that heart in my spirit and how we
- 33:32Speaker 1: how do we get the heart right, y'all, because we
- 33:34Speaker 1: know that God attends to the matter of our hearts
- 33:38Speaker 1: that if we place it on our heart, y'all, you
