- Shamus: Hello, everybody, and welcome to a very special episode of the Pork Roll Egg and Cheese Podcast. My name is Seamus. And this is our 25th episode anniversary special. There will be no sponsors named today because everybody gets a shout out. Because we're here to celebrate our 25th episode. Now you might not think that's an accomplishment, but according to the stats, only like 2% of all podcasts started. Herbie: Yeah, so that's pretty much ⁓ you know, no more pets for me, but I've I've always had pets my entire life. Her bang Shamus: Get past the eighth episode. So this is episode twenty five And I gotta say it's been a hell of a ride. What do you think, Herb? Herbie: ⁓ hey yeah, this is definitely fun man. I'm so glad that you asked me to do this. I think it's a great idea. Shamus: Yeah, they were saying that like three of the main reasons why podcasts don't carry on past like the eighth episode is A, people get tired with it 'cause they're not making money. Yeah. ⁓ two is they run out of stuff to talk about. And then three, they just don't want to do the research or get bored with it. so with us, A, we never in it for the money. Yeah. B, we have so much stuff to talk about. Yeah. And three, I don't know how can either one of us ever get bored? Yeah. We're never bored. ⁓ Herbie: got we got a bunch of friends that we could, you know, interview and it's it's awesome. Shamus: But we do love animals. Big animals porter. Yeah, huge. Make sure you're adopting. Make sure you get your pets paid and neutered. Yeah. ⁓ and if you if you do have to get an animal, make sure you go to the shelter man. There's a lot of good animals in there that just just need a home. Herbie: It's like pretty much like a lot of these episodes kind of develop almost like a like a reminiscing of s kind of like South Jersey type stuff. So I hope whatever, you know, the listeners can sit back, relax, enjoy these episodes. it's a little it's educational and fun and just dudes dudes drinking beers and having a good time. That's it. Yeah, and just like send send a picture in of your animals too, man. We wanna we wanna see. Shamus: Well let me ask you this, did you ever ⁓ listen to podcasts or did you have any ambition podcast at one point? Herbie: I listen to like a lot of the podcast or like stuff on YouTube. So but a lot of times I see these episodes of people reviewing horror movies or people ⁓ doing like camping stuff or like informational type things or people going to restaurants. I mean, like how many people go to every goddamn restaurant and try the same food? people have like overflowing the mar you know, over yeah, oversaturated the market. So it's just like I I could do this too. Shamus: All right, we're gonna do a quick bonus question ⁓ I'll start with you guys rock. Podcast come and go, but please tell me you're gonna be around for a while. Can't wait for a video and the new digs. Vince and Havertown. ⁓ we're not going anywhere, Vince. ⁓ we're gonna be here for a while. ⁓ Overseas. Herbie: But you know, like me, I'm a procrastinator, so I never got the chance to like get any equipment together and all that stuff. And here's Seamus, Mr. Reliable as soon as he gets an idea, boom, he's going all through. Shamus: Well, I might be that guy, but make no mistake about it. You're the talent. Once we get the video up and roll, we do have video equipment coming in. ⁓ and I'm talking video equipment where we're not gonna have to buy anything for a while. We're gonna be sufficient, we're buying state of the art stuff, So yeah, we're gonna be here for a minute, and we do appreciate the email from ⁓ everybody who sent us an email. Herbie: ⁓ Shamus: ⁓ this has been a lot of fun. ⁓ looking back on the twenty-four episodes we've done. I don't think I changed too much besides, you know, the first couple episodes were a bit rough with the editing and figuring out how we wanted to do stuff. You know, it's like I said, we never done a podcast before. We just kind of just like, hey man, let it rip. And just so we're getting better at it. Herbie: the the good thing for us is We have a lot of interesting friends. So we just have like a big pool to be able to draw from. To like ⁓ do interviews and d ⁓ all different types of people. Shamus: Well to be honest with you, that's why I kinda wanted to start this. I never did a podcast before. always listened to ⁓ Joe Rogan. So, ⁓ like I said, we appreciate each and one of you. We love you all. ⁓ we thank you for your support and we hope you keep listening. ⁓ If by chance we ⁓ ever, ⁓ ever start getting boring ⁓ or ⁓ just dumb or ⁓ Rogan's a real smart dude. Yeah. He'll have people that talk about stuff that I can't even fathom. Yeah. But then the next thing he has Conor McGregor in or ⁓ you know, Elon Musk, or he'll have like Paul Stanley on. Like he's all over the place. So I'll listen to some of his guests. But I thought to myself the same thing you did. I was I went up to do the Exciting New podcast. We did ⁓ I think my first movie there was Commando. You know, if we ever offend you, ⁓ you should probably know by now after twenty-four episodes, twenty-five episodes. Yes. We're not here for that. Yeah, we're not trying. ⁓ Yeah, I don't think we so far. Like every once in a while we'll say, ⁓ that's gay. But I mean, like it's ⁓ like the South Park episode the Harley guys. It's it's not it has nothing to do with that. ⁓ we love each and everybody out there. We respect ⁓ everybody's beliefs, religion, political, whatever, ⁓ And I saw what they were doing and everything and I was like, well I definitely don't want to do movies because everybody does movies. And you know, they already have that market. And I you know, I love those guys and I don't want to cut in on their stuff. ⁓ I you know, TV shows, movies I wasn't really interested in doing. But we know so many people that do so much cool stuff ⁓ and characters on top of it. ⁓ I just thought to myself, man, wouldn't it be cool if we could just Herbie: Yeah. ⁓ I think that's why we actually have an eclectic group of friends. So like it w it's just when you meet people, it the the group grows because everyone's on the same wavelength. You know what I mean? So it's just it's it's awesome to be a part of like a a a great group of friends. And I'm sure like the listeners, I hope you all have a great group of friends and Shamus: This is a neutral space for every so. Put these guys down in front of a microphone and just kind of ⁓ let's hear them out, man. Tell us what you do. And you know, the first half of the show, tell us about your job, tell us about your talent, your skill, or your hobby or whatever you're here to talk about. And then we'll talk about like some of your personal life, how we know each other, dah, dah, dah. Yeah. Some party stories. ⁓ yeah. ⁓ and it seems to be working out pretty good. ⁓ we've had we've actually had people on we never met before, the Cooper Scooper guys. Yeah. ⁓ so when Herbie: You can relate to this and listen to the episodes and maybe drop some ⁓ other ideas about what we should talk about. Shamus: I actually sat down and thought about it. I was like, okay, now who do I get to because I can't do this by myself. And I was like, Herbie. Everybody loves Herbie. And he'll do it every time I ask him to do something. So, you know, we met up at Otts that day and we started talking about it. And we should probably have that bartender come over and sit down. And because she was there for the birth of it. ⁓ she was serving us beers and what the hell are you guys talking about? this is something that it's like I said, I don't want to make money off it. I just want to have a good time doing it. And I hope you guys are having a good time listening to it. I hope our guests have a good time while they're here. We try to accommodate everybody. And like I said, man, let's just keep this train rolling. Let's this party keep fucking kicking. ⁓ I just want to say thank you, Mr. Herbie, for being a part of this journey with me. ⁓ I don't think I could have done it with anybody else. ⁓ And I look forward to another, I guess 25. Herbie: Yes. Shamus: We're like starting a podcast. And she's like, really? And we kind of hashed it out right there. And not that she was a part of it, but she was like, you know, but as we're talking, your buddy came over. ⁓ a couple other people came over and started giving us ideas, and we just kind of molded it right there. And it was born right here in Medford. Yeah. ⁓ we had five different names written down when we left. We ended up settling on the pork rog and cheese podcast. The other four names we wrote down, I have a list was the Idol Threat Podcast. Yeah, yeah. Another three thousand and twenty five. ⁓ it has been a good run, man, and I appreciate everything you've done on your end of this. So thank you, sir. Herbie: Thank you for letting me be a part of it and part of your life, bro. Love you. Shamus: Man. I love too, buddy. And we also want to thank Andy, Dana, and Jason. I know, yeah, the exciting new podcast is what this this is a spin-off of that. So, and even though they hate Cobra, and I'm cutting my pizza for the rest of my life with scissors, we want to thank you guys, man. Without you guys, this wouldn't be possible. And we want to thank all of our guests so far. The this and that podcast, the extensively pointless podcast. I think that was number two. I like that one. That is good. And then the education speculation podcast, which sounds like an episode of the Big Bang Theory. So Herbie: Yeah. Shamus: I I have all these notes written down my phone, which is pretty crazy to look back on because even like twenty five episodes was only in March, ⁓ June. ⁓ Herbie: Damn fast, dude. Like we knock out like a bunch. And it's like you you've like we said when we have like our our we have a guest list and it's like we still haven't made a dent in it, really. Shamus: Yeah, we love you guys. And and we're gonna have you all back when we do the video, man. ⁓ It has been a great run. ⁓ So and ⁓ as always, like, rate, and subscribe. Herbie: This is a front ride, man. Shamus: We'll get him in. So we just figured we'd take ⁓ you know, this episode to look back and on twenty five episodes and celebrate a little bit. ⁓ it's been a pretty good time. Have I mean, is there anything that you thought could be better or could be worse? Like do you have any Herbie: A feeling the way we all hang out with each other and the the friends that we've interviewed, ⁓ whenever we hang out drinking beers, we always have a great time. We always have like never run out of conversation. We have great stories, we're always laughing, we're just enjoying everyone's company, and not just between just me and you, but like you know, a lot of times when we hang out, we got a big group of people. So this is this is a huge chain. Shamus: ⁓ no doubt. Herbie: chain reaction of a bunch of cool people having a great time parties and just whenever we all get together, man, it just feels great. You know, it's fun. It's like like what's his face from ⁓ Fast Times Rus ⁓ Yeah. He's just like yeah, ⁓ what's his like yeah this is a play. Shamus: Bakoli. It is. Isn't this great? Yeah. Herbie: It really is. So like for the listeners, ⁓ we just hope that you have a good time, maybe bring back some old memories, maybe ⁓ encourage to try to do other ideas. If you hear stuff that we say, you're like, ⁓ maybe that's a good idea, or maybe just learn about stuff. Because I think for me, this ⁓ podcast is like an educational, fun, no drama, no stress, helps you reminisce, maybe bring back some good vibes. Shamus: ⁓ You guys have a good night, and we're sorry this so long, but we'll catch you on the next one. Herbie, ⁓ say goodnight. Herbie: ⁓ maybe listen to our voices while you guys are cleaning the house or driving in the car. Maybe just just having a good time or just relaxing. You don't have to worry about all the other bullshit that's going on in the in the world. You know, you just put on a podcast of just two dudes that been friends for a long time drinking beers and s talking about fun shit and having a good time. That's it. Yeah. May the force be with you. Shamus: Yeah. Well, not just the listeners, but it seems like everybody who's come and sit in these chairs in front of microphones have I mean had a good time while they were here, when they left, or like, hey man, I would love to come back and do it again. I've had ⁓ companies reach out saying like, Hey, because of you guys, we've got like another ten customers or this guy called me or I got a huge job coming up because of this. You know, just recently with the window tinning, he's got like two or three people off us and he's you know, is offering ten percent if you mention the name. So I mean, it's been pretty cool, man, that you know, these guys reach back and they go, Hey man, i i cause it's still kind of small. Like we're not all that big yet. And I don't know if we'll ever get big, but it it's it's an amazing thing and it makes you feel good that these guys come in because they get away from their shit for a while. Yeah. And they get to tell you about what they do. And most of the stuff is their passion, is what they truly love to do. And they come in and you know, and we can help them actually make a couple extra bucks because one or two people call and say, Hey, I do need my dog poop scooped up, or hey, I need a deck, or hey, I need my Windows tenant, or hey man, are you the guy who does the tattoos that I heard on the pork rolling cheese pocket. So man, it's it's pretty cool to do that. Yeah. So and like I said, it's on a small scale right now, but anything we can do to help these dudes and and if we ever have females on, anything we do to help these chicks, man, yeah, is pretty cool. So definitely. Herbie: I I think when they have a a mic in front of their in in front of their face and they're actually in a comfortable environment with two people that aren't pushy or nothing like that, ⁓ they they feel more relaxed, they're more willing they're they feel more open, they're willing to talk about more stuff and willing to open up about not just their job, about like maybe their dreams. ⁓ it's just like basically everyone just gets a chance to vent, you know. Shamus: It's an amazing thing to see them come in too. Yeah. And they're just kind of like, all right, man, you know, and you see them there, we're like, dude, relax. You want air, you know, we got you want a shot, you want to do dah da. Like just calm down. And like after the first five minutes, you can see him like, Yeah. These guys are idiots. Like, this is great. These guys are just like us. Yeah, they don't give a shit. Herbie: You can have a brilliant conversation with the people next to you at the bar like we've done like when we're trying to like build this together. Just people coming up to sitting around and just having a conversation with us, giving us ideas and just talking about shit. So Shamus: Yeah, it's pretty cool to see that, yeah. And hopefully we can keep doing that. ⁓ no doubt. No doubt. Herbie: Yeah, well we're gonna keep doing it. Shamus: Like I said, positive atmosphere in the studio and on the airways, brother. So all right, so what we're gonna do is I took ⁓ like twenty-five comments and questions and stuff like that out of our mailbag. Herbie: Yeah, you men to that man. Shamus: but just give some honorable mentions, we do have a ton of junk mail pictures. ⁓ Guys still to this day send me pictures of junk man with the middle finger emoji and they're like here give this to Steve. So and we have to give a shout out to Steve because Steve was the first guy through the wall. That guy always gets bloody. ⁓ Steve came in here with his dog Jack. Yep. And was the first ever guest on the Pork Girl Egg and Cheese podcast. And he was another guy. I'm like, hey man, you want to be on a pod? He was like, Absolutely. What the hell's a podcast? And I was like And that guy came in here and he just let it rip, man. So if Steve's still listening, we just wanna say, Hey man, all of our listeners still think about you when they get junk mail and you know, we're thinking about you and we can't wait to have you back on when we go to video. Herbie: ⁓ yeah, definitely, man. Because you were di Steve is definitely a character. I know a lot of people like, ⁓ they hate junk mail. But if you guys ever met Steve, you would immediately love this dude because he's just funny, plays guitar, and he's just like a just an all-around great dude. Shamus: He's an amazing guitar player. ⁓ well, that's another thing we're doing. We're also reconnecting people because when Jason from the exciting a new podcast came down here, he was like, That second episode, was that the guitar player that played with Bobby? He's like, dude, you know how wasted I used to get with it. I haven't seen that guy in forever. Is that the guy? And I was just like, Yeah. So, you know, we're reconnecting people too, man. Those guys haven't seen each other in like 10, 15 years. I don't know if they've got in contact. I don't I don't know if I ever give Jason his number. ⁓ but Jay wants to drink beers with him. So we're gonna have them both come down here and You know, hang out and you know, reconnect, man. It's good to do that. Herbie: Yeah. It is definitely fun because, you know, like I said, a reconnected with friends I haven't seen in a while. Like my my buddy Brett. I just love all his great successes and stuff. he's got a book out, he's got a ⁓ Amazon show coming out, he's got two tattoo shops. ⁓ He's just he's he's really doing great with all the successes. he's a great guy. I love you, Brett. Great dude. Shamus: Yeah, he was a pretty cool interview being that was a big gift for us. Another thing I had in the mailbox was a bunch of questions about SCOBY Ducks and Creek Angels. Herbie: ⁓ god, yeah. Well that episode's coming out, man. Shamus: It's coming. then there was a whole bunch of other, you know, questions that kind of they were all the same questions, just worded different, and they're all covered in this 25 thing. So we're gonna start off with the first one. ⁓ just wanna the first one is hey fell ⁓ hey fellas, huge fan of the show and been listening since day one. Was just wondering where you came up for the idea for this show. Tom from Springfield, Pennsylvania. Well, like I said, I just wanted to put something out there to w which was educational, talk to some of our cool buddies who I thought had cool jobs or cool hobbies and stuff, and just ⁓ you know, drink some beers and talk to people. How about you, Herbert? Herbie: Yeah, well I I think like well, one of the main titles for the pork roll egg and cheese was, you know, when we first met Sal years ago. That's Jason. Shamus: I got that. It's coming up. Herbie: so ⁓ our buddy sal he came out this was back in the day with ⁓ Bobby's band Groundskeeper so ⁓ Sal came out for a you know not an interview but yeah a tryout for the band he was singing this song, you know, the pork roll leg cheese song. And it was just freaking hilarious. But you know, for years, you know, we thought that was just something that he came up with, but you you know, come to find out, it was actually the band Ween from what was like Pennsylvania or something like that. I forget where they're from. we just thought it was hilarious. And we ⁓ we wanted to have that type of title when we wanted to actually have that song by Ween, the pork will egg and cheese song as like the ⁓ the beginning for our show, but you copyright issues and stuff like that. But the song that we got now is is ballsy. I love it. Shamus: ⁓ that was actually the third one. ⁓ where did you come up? Where did you come up with the title? I live in New Who PA, poem to the band Ween, who have a song titled Pork, Roll Egg and Cheese. Are you fans of Ween? And this is what is this where your song came from? So Herbie just covered it. Yeah. ⁓ I love the way Sal did it. And he used to do that and piss up a rope. That song too, the way Sal does it. Yeah. Herbie: Yeah, Shamus: ⁓ we were talking about using that or having Sal come in to record it. And that's when you told me I had no idea. I don't even know who the ween is. I played the song on Apple Music and I was like, This version ⁓ sucks. I ⁓ was like, Well, I guess we can't use that. So sorry, but ⁓ it's definitely not only but us being from like I'm originally from Philadelphia. Yeah. Herbie: Yes. Sorry, Wien. Shamus: And and there's pork roll in Philly too, but you know, South Jersey, like a pork roll, egg and cheese is a staple here. So having this being done in in South Jersey was another reason why it kind of works, the pork, roll, egg, and cheese. Because once you say pork roll, egg, and cheese, pretty much the whole continental United States pretty much knows, okay, that is a northeast thing. So they know where we're at. But yeah, Patty from New Hope wanted to know was because of the wean song. Herbie: Nice. Shamus: Had something to do with it, but just not Ween's version. Queen sucks. Yeah. ⁓ you just hit on ⁓ the second question was okay, guys, I gotta know. Who does your theme song, Such a banging ass start to a show and really has something to it. I love this show and love that song. George from Willow Grove. Herbie: Yeah. Thanks, George. Shamus: Your guys aren't gonna believe this shit. Yeah. But that's me. Yeah. The whole ⁓ pork roll and ⁓ love you pork roll. That's me. like the whole music part of it was something I downloaded on like a free podcast music site that I just kind of twerked a little bit. ⁓ If you listen real close, you can kind of hear like a small hiccup the drum solo before the ⁓ you know, love you pork roll. That's because I had to cut it and I for some reason I just couldn't get that matched up. But yeah, that's all me, dude. ⁓ I was thinking about changing it when we go to video, but like I said, a lot of the response in the mailbag was just like, yo, that shit rocks, bro. So maybe we'll call Steve. Hey man, and some people come in and we'll have them record it live. And, you know, we'll we'll kind of adjust it and tweak it. But yeah, that's all me, man. The voice, the music and all that stuff is just Herbie: That'd be cool. Shamus: I Herbie: Good job, Lord Seamus. Shamus: All right, number four. Love the tribute to Chuck Norris and sad we lost him. We all were, man. Recently Clint Eastwood retires. What are your thoughts on that and all these other people that are passing away who are so iconic? Keep up the great work. Travis from Tabernacle. First of all, Clint Eastwood retiring from everything at ninety six. Yeah hysterical. Herbie: I was gonna say good for him. It's crazy. Like I think I did enough. Shamus: He's like ninety six years old, he was like Herbie: Yeah, I think it's time to retire. Yeah. And just like look at his career too, man, because you know, the Good and the Bad and the Ugly is like one of my favorite movies. And even when he does comedy, ⁓ when he every which way but loose, ⁓ it's still like one of my favorite Clinton Eastwood movies. And he's done like great movies like Gran Torino, Shamus: Ha ha Herbie: Pshh, Jesus Christ. There's so many goddamn movies that he did. And ⁓ the one thing that I love about him too is my mom is a big, huge, huge Clint Eastwood fan. And she always called him my Clinty. Shamus: I was gonna say women of that age all Clint fans. Herbie: They're all of ⁓ But another thing too is she said that she that Clint Eastwood looks a little bit like her father. So that's like how she like connected. He was always like tough, but he was like honest. He didn't he didn't do bad things. He was just like a strong man. He didn't have to talk a lot. But when you got in his face, he whooped your ass. Shamus: ⁓ I enjoyed doing the Chuck Norris episode because it was a way I could pay respect to a guy who was an absolute icon when I was a kid. hearing that Clinton Eastwood retired, like I just said, is absolutely hysterical. And I'm glad he finally hung him up because if that's what he wants to do in '96, by all means, brother, go ahead and do it. from here on out, anytime. an icon like that does pass away. Yeah. ⁓ we are going to do a special episode on them. Herbie: 'Cause a lot of those people are heroes too, man. I ⁓ Yeah, we do, Chuck. ⁓ I ⁓ when he passed away, I everyone at work. I'm I'm always that dude that like Shamus: Mm and we miss it out. Herbie: It it tells everybody about everything that I like. I all my little information or homages that I pay to other I mean, they're kind of forced to. I'm sorry. I just do it anyway. Shamus: Nice. Number five. Hey guys, I really enjoy your show, and although we've never met, I feel like I know you. Being a Gen Xer, I can relate to a lot of your episodes and brings back so many great memories. I'm also a mom and love your mother's day tribute episode. From moms everywhere, we would like to say thank you. Keep doing what you're doing, and I'll keep listening. Carrie from Hal. There was no questionnaire, but it was just a state. Herbie: Yeah, that's nice. Shamus: And that's kind of what you hit on. Like that's what we want. Like we want people like like I've had people say, like, dude, it's just you and Herbie. It's like listening to you guys talk no matter where I see you, or like certain people like you guys have great chemistry, you don't step on each other, ⁓ or it's just listening to two people talk at the water cooler and you're just kind of like, Yeah, man, yeah. ⁓ And ⁓ I myself to the radio or in my car. And that's the kind of shit that we want. Herbie: Yeah, we definitely want that. We we do love the fact that people are actually either 'cause we we normally when we do this, we just do it first shot, first go. And then, you know, if we make mistakes, it's cool that you guys either call back or or you know, yell at your phone while you're listening and especially with ⁓ with David Spade and or not David Spade, what's the other guy, the actors and stuff that we mess up the names of and Yeah, James Spader. Don't do it. James, it's James Spader. Shamus: James Spain I'm waiting for that guy to knock on my door. Herbie: We we definitely want that type of you know, interaction. It's just we just hope that you enjoy it. Shamus: He's gonna show up one day and be like, it's James Spader. Yeah. And just give me a smack or like a white glove. And then just leave. Herbie: He's like Herbie, I played Ultron. How do you not remember my name, goddammit? I'm like, I'm sorry, Mr. Spader. Shamus: all right, number six, great pod. I was really shocked how much info you're able to obtain from your guests and how much I learned from those episodes. How do you schedule your guests and what do you got coming down the plaque? Raul from Willingborough. ⁓ name. I love Raul. ⁓ Herbie: Yeah. Rowl. Roller. Yeah, man. I love that name. That's a lot better than Herbie, man. That's definitely a sexy name for the ladies, man. Shamus: ⁓ how do you schedule your guests and what do you got coming down the pipe? Well, like I said, when we first sat down at Otts, we had a list of about 50 to 100 people that instantly came to our minds about what they different categories, jobs, skills, hobbies, stuff like that. so far besides the the scooper hero guys, we pretty much known like Kirby knew Brett. Yeah. I knew Paul. we knew like ⁓ guy love Yeah, so I mean like everybody we yeah, everybody Steve, everybody we talked to, Jason, ⁓ Troy from the Star Wars episode. We know all those guys. Yeah. So ⁓ and if they're all real. Yeah. Herbie: Yeah, you know, Uncle Yeah, everyone. Shamus: And there's a whole bunch of other people coming. So to answer your question, what do you got coming down the plate? Brothers, you're gonna have to stay tuned. Yeah. Because it only gets better from here. Herbie: Yeah, we we we have a lot of ideas. We're gonna keep on doing stuff, so just keep on listening. And like I said, after every episode, if you have something to add or wanna say, just let us know, man. It's it's it's it's it's nice to hear from you, brother. Thank you. Shamus: Number seven, this is a question I got with the Scoby Ducks, the Creek Angels, and all that. John from Chatsworth wants to know is Big Bob's wax carrots a real thing? Yeah, tell them about I got so many goddamn inbox about Big Bob's wax carrots. That first of all When we first started, I thought that we needed to sound official, but I didn't want to put anybody's business out there without talking to ⁓ So I I was sitting on the couch and I was doing some research and I think I was watching like the Rich Eisen show or something like that. And like this segment is brought to you by like I was like, Man, we need to do something like that. When we were kids, me and Bobby growing up, ⁓ in the back of the old yearbooks in Riverside High School, you could pay a dollar and you write something at the back of the yearbook and they would print it out. ⁓ you could pay five bucks for like an advertisement you had a business. But they had things for students where you could put, for a dollar, you can just write, ⁓ Herbie loves lorry or something like that, or We were at Bobby's house and Big Bob and them boys have been drinking and and Big Bob's like, I got a dollar, let me write something. And he put on there Big Bob's wax carrots. ⁓ Lo and behold, the yearbook came out. Me and Bobby ran to the school and picked it up. And we like the first thing we did was went to the back We're like, ⁓ my God, they printed it. ⁓ for those of you who don't know, back in the 90s, like early 90s, like like they used to ask us all day, what are you up there? Waxing your carrot? Yeah, waxing the scarcity. So big boss wax carrot. So ⁓ It just kind of like we laughed about it that summer and it just kind of died. So I was sitting on the couch Man, we need an advertisement. I just don't know anybody. And I don't know where it came. It just out of nowhere. It was like Big Pops, Wax Cat. And I was like, shit, dude, we need to bring that back. So he was our that was ⁓ it's not a real company, obviously. ⁓ but ⁓ it it got us through we got our first real sponsor. Herbie: Ya wey. Dude, how great is that? We need t shirts of that though. Yeah, no one should copy our idea, goddammit. Shamus: ⁓ we're definitely I'll tell you what man ⁓ He should start his own pod, you know, the wax carrot podcast. Herbie: ⁓ my god. 'Cause we we are gonna have Big Bob, also known as Admiral, on this Shamus: Listen, I go this is another reason why I was saving this for you. He's probably gonna be our first guest on video. Yeah. Because that is a person, if you don't know who he is, you people definitely need Herbie: Yeah, you're gonna love this guy, man. Shamus: So Big Bob Squack's characters is not a real sponsor. So please stop looking for him online we'll have him on and he'll he'll tell you the story about it. Yes. So all right. Number eight. Some of these go way back too because like we haven't done the mailbag yet. All right, number eight is I love wrestling and really enjoyed the WrestleMania episode and appreciate the knowledge your guest Joe shared with us. With that being said, there was so much more to talk about. Will you guys ever revisit this or any other episode you feel you didn't get enough time to cover? I'm a pork roller for life, so keep the episodes coming. Dominic from South Philly. Herbie: Dominic, that's a great idea too, dude. Because like there is, we we've talked about it before. After episodes, they're like, ⁓ man, there's stuff that we even say or did it just come up. Because like I said, Dominic, when we do these, it's basically Shay presses the record button and we just go. And that's it. Yeah, we're not record, you we're yeah, we don't write down like notes or notes on on a certain topic or anything. It's just, this is just shooting from the hip, man. Shamus: Yeah, a lot of it's just from memory. If you remember, ⁓ I'm sorry, I didn't mean to go. No, you're good. If you remember, Joe and his brother Pat were supposed to come up here. Yeah. And those guys together are an encyclopedia pro wrestling. So something happened where ⁓ Pat couldn't make it that day. So Joe still came in. A great guest, dude. He was ⁓ just full of knowledge and you know, he remembered and that's why we, we do have guests on when it comes to stuff that we know about too, because he bought up so much stuff that I totally forgot about. Herbie: We gotta gotta have them both. ⁓ yeah. Shamus: ⁓ so what we're gonna do is that episode, when we go to video, we're gonna have him and Pat come back. Yeah. and we're give you some visual. We're gonna dress up as wrestlers. ⁓ in our mailbox, dude, the 80s, ⁓ the Adidas and Synthesizer of about the 80s. ⁓ Unbelievable response to that. Yeah. Herbie: Yeah, like some ideas, man. Yeah, definitely. Shamus: People are like, how do you not mention this? How do you not mention that? How do you and I was like, listen, man, like you said, we just sat down and went, let's just talk about this and bang. We didn't do any research. ⁓ that was all from memory. Yeah. Cause that's how much we love music. Yeah. ⁓ we're gonna have if if she'll come on, ⁓ a friend of mine, ⁓ huge eighties buff. She loves everything about the 80s, the movies, the music, and all this stuff, the fashion. ⁓ we're that's another episode we're gonna revisit too when we go to video. ⁓ because like I said, we covered a lot. We just didn't cover enough of it. Herbie: ⁓ yeah, we basically just do this for an hour. So we even contemplated we didn't want want to make some of these episodes too long. Because it might be even if it's interesting, and people might look at it before they even get a chance to listen, be like, ⁓ this is like an hour and a half and maybe I'll save that one for later. Yeah. So it's just like we try to keep it like with an hour or you know, nothing too too long to keep everyone's ⁓ interest and ⁓ attention. Shamus: And they start to drift off. ⁓ by the way, Dominic from South Philly says, P.S. Tell Joe the warrior rules ⁓ So we'll have to have Joe come on here and defend that. ⁓ Number nine. Love the show, boys. I know Seamus has mentioned he's currently seeing someone, but what Herbie's relationship status? Now there was no name to this. It was just an emoji with a smiley face with the little hearts around it. Herbie: Yeah, ⁓ Herbie is single. Yeah, I'm single. I'm short though, so that's probably another reason why I stay single, you know. I've I've had dated I've dated some really tall women though, so there are some women out there that like tall guys, so it's it's very ver nice. And I make sure I show them how much I appreciate them liking short guys too, believe me. Shamus: What is your relationship status, B? Hear that, girls? Yeah. Start wearing platforms or posters. Yeah. Well if they ain't if they ain't down with you being short, then they ain't the one for you anyway. So, all you single girls out there, just know that my man Herbie is Herbie: That's true. Yeah, all the single ladies, all the single ladies. Shamus: All right, this is from a mutual friend of ours. This one I actually know. ⁓ Seamus and Herbie, thank you for providing me with entertainment while getting ready for work and during my commute. Have you ever thought about taking the show on the road? Would love to have you guys come down to Florida. Amanda from Tampa. PS, the sports store in the Burlington Center was called Showcase. ⁓ Herbie: ⁓ yes it was Amanda thank you and the force is strong with you. Shamus: When I read that 'cause that wasn't in the mailbag, she sent me a text and I was kinda like I forgot all I love that s that's where I got Fred Barnett's autograph. Yeah. So Herbie: God, yeah, Amanda, you were absolutely right. Yeah. Shamus: Have you ever well we have talked about taking it on the road? Yeah. ⁓ I don't know if we're gonna go that far to Florida. Maybe when they start paying us to do this, if the if it ever gets to that point. ⁓ yeah, it would be cool to go Florida. Herbie: That'd be cool. Yeah. Because she was also saying that like, you know, Florida's Wawas are completely different compared to the ones in Jersey. You know, it's like they got kiosks, they got all this stuff. Then there's no dude by the trash can. I'm like, ⁓ it's upsetting. Shamus: It is. Yeah. Herbie: I Shamus: All ⁓ right. Number eleven. This question for Seamus. I know you said you're just busting your buddies chops, but do you know how ridiculous it sounds listening to say Jennifer Aniston is fat? ⁓ Is it really? ⁓ Herbie: That's the whole point though. You know what I mean? It's like ridiculous. Shamus: I'm not gonna lie, dude. When you were pulling up in the driveway, I was watching an episode of Friends. Yeah. And ⁓ dude, I was thinking to myself, like, man, somebody needs to throw that bitch a sandwich. Because I ain't she is rail thin. So yeah, I do know it's ridiculous, but it's so much fun. Yeah. Busting my buddies' balls. Yeah. ⁓ anyway, I know you mentioned a P-Rec movie. If you had the choice, who would get to play you and Herbie in this movie? Us. Hunter from Hotstown. Us. Herbie: ⁓ yeah. Bus hunter, great question. ⁓ we do joke about like maybe having some really good looking people doing it, you know, like maybe Jason Statham and ⁓ Robert Downey Jr. or some shit. I don't know. But ⁓ I would like for ⁓ Shamus: I want James Spader to play Seamus Herbie: I want Joe Pesci to play Herbie. Shamus: There it is. There's your answer. James Spader and Shavus and Joe Beshi. Herbie: Do do I make you laugh? Shamus: Next question. Number twelve. What's up, fellas? I too was always curious about Dungeons and Dragons and want to thank you for making it a subject of one of your episodes. Also, big shout out to Tom and Christine for all the info, and I'm on my way to becoming a dungeon master. Do it. With all that being said, my question is for Herbie. What the fuck is crock pot soup? Herbie: ⁓ yeah. Yeah. Shamus: Brandon from Austin, Texas, I'm assuming. All right. Herbie: Brandon, I'm glad you asked. All right. Now, say for example. Well, Brandon, thank you for the question, kind sir, and good luck in ⁓ doing the dungeon master stuff. as far as crock pot soup, here in South Jersey, Shamus: They would touch it. Herbie: we're live near the pine barrens and there's you know it's more like ⁓ redneck type stuff. So I've been in a couple of houses, but like this is like Chatsworth and all these other pine barren houses and stuff like that. A lot of people are hunters. So ⁓ w of course they'll crock pot they what they kill. So it could be like squirrel, rabbit, stuff like that. You have like stews. ⁓ Basically, you know, friends from mine from high school would have that stuff, which was good, but it's you know, with crock pots, it just lasts a long time and that that type of like scent just lingers. Now, not dissing type of crock pot ⁓ soup stuff. But there's like some that are just like really crazy. Like it could be like, you know, bad crock pot soup. So it's basically someone that kind of smells like a crock pot soup byproduct and they're not really good people or they could be really trashy or they could have like barely no teeth in their mouth, you know, anything like that. It's just like a very it's almost like ⁓ the scent of a redneck hillbilly that's not a good person. you know, fried bologna or ⁓ you know, it's just basically that type of scent that just like pours out of your pores. And just don't trust anyone that smells crock pot soup, buddy. Yeah. ⁓ Shamus: Good answer her. Number thirteen. Hey guys, just listened to Kava and the Grog episode and gotta ask, what is the worst thing you've ever drank? I can't imagine anything else could be worse than the grog, but I ask after listening to a bunch of these shows, I get a feeling you maniacs have done far worse. Keep puffing them out, boys. Tara from Soho. Soho's Herbie: Yeah. ⁓ thank you for the question. Yeah. yeah. Well, actually, Tara, ⁓ coming back to you, like if you have any other type of suggestions, like, you know, just let us know about stuff that you tried. ⁓ yeah, as far as for me, like I I like to try different things. I'm not really willing to suck down something really disgusting. Not even as a dare. But ⁓ you know, probably the the weirdest one was like, you know, the the quail leg sake bomb shot, but it's just something that I incorporated because I like to drink sake and ⁓ but the grog thing, yeah, that's definitely something that I It's like, ⁓ my God, man. Shamus: I've had worse. I have drank worse than the grog. ⁓ And no, it had no alcohol in it. ⁓ really? Yeah, were in the middle of the fucking ⁓ desert somewhere in one of them god awful Middle Eastern countries. And ⁓ and if you're from the Middle East, I I don't like, you know, that I'm just saying it It's it's not my place. we moving some ⁓ sheep herders camel hoarders out of the way and stuff, and one guy was like, Friend, friend, you drink, you drink, and ⁓ we were kind of like, What the hell is this guy talking about? This guy literally whipped out like a silver bowl, like out of his like satchel, like some Indiana Jones shit, and walked over to like a sheep and was just ⁓ like hot milk. In the middle of 130 degree weather and walked over. He's friend, friend. And I was just kind of like, You gotta be kidding me. Because over there, if you turn down something like a gift they're giving you, it's a sign of disrespect. Yeah. And I looked at the interpreter and he was just like, and that dude had a look on his face, like, shit. Like. And all four of us, a three-man MP gun team and a fucking interpreter, handed this silver-ass hot bowl full of. Herbie: Why you doing that? Shamus: Goat mil like it had a hair in it and shit. We were like, ⁓ and we pass it around dude at like a hundred and thirty degree hair. ⁓ I'll drink three gallons of grog any day of the week before I have to take a sip of that shit again. So yeah. Herbie: ⁓ my god. At least it was in the silver bowl, man. ⁓ I well I do have a we Shamus: Thanks for bringing that back, Tara. I appreciate that memory. Herbie: I did have a weird thing I used to eat. Well, like when I was a kid, like when it was like ⁓ winter time, for some reason the icicles that hung off the back of the exhaust of a car, I'd I I I didn't eat the whole thing, but I'd bite it. I'd like Yeah, I was like it was just like weird smoky and all that. no. Shamus: You liked your ice school smoke? Herbie: I was like, what the hell is this? I was like, I was like, what the crap? And I just grabbed it because we're eating icicles and all that crap. And I just grabbed I grabbed the one off the back of the car and the other one had like a little bit of the exhaust stuff on it. I was like I was like, that's not ⁓ that's not bad, but that's not great. No, it's not. Shamus: That's back in the day when had let it gas too. Herbie: I know dude, so I'm like, Jesus Christ, it's probably why I'm fucking weird, man. Shamus: Can't imagine why you have no hair and walk with a limp. Herbie: Like freaking caligula with ⁓ lead poisoning and my brain's all weird. Shamus: So yeah, ⁓ exhaust icicles and ninety thousand degree goat milk in the middle of a desert. Thanks, Tara. Number fourteen, big fan of the show, and not that I'm doubting it, but how do you know about listeners in other countries? Is there a tracker on the show page or something? The only reason I ask is you've inspired me to start a podcast and looking for startup help. Any information you could give me would be great. Herbie: Yeah, thank you, Tara. Yeah, do it. Alex, go for it, brother. Shamus: Alex from Patterson. ⁓ I'm gonna take this one because I pretty much handle the logistics and the analytics. I use a software called Riverside.com. ⁓ the reason why I use it is because I grew up in Riverside and when I was googling some of the software ⁓ Riverside came up. I didn't try Buzz Sprout. I heard that's pretty good too. once sign up with them, they help you process everything and ⁓ and it out to the world. You can pick ⁓ you know, YouTube, Spotify, and all that stuff like that. Once it's out. Excuse me. They give you a page, you can hit like analytics, and it'll tell you how many people listen to this episode, how many total streams you have, all the stuff. It does everything for you. It's it's an amazing piece of software. At the very bottom, it'll tell you what countries you're hitting. Like they just don't list every country on the planet and go, okay, they'll say, Here's your top ten countries. ⁓ obviously the United States is always we're always at like ninety, ninety two percent. Yeah. ⁓ Japan's a big one, and I'm sure because you have people there, yeah. ⁓ there's some places in the Middle East, but I would like to think it was because like US soldiers or like maybe some people I knew met there are still there. ⁓ but like we have listeners like Vietnam is like a huge portable leg and cheese hotspot, man. Like I was Herbie: Yeah, we're like we're still kinda clueless what's going on with that. Shamus: Yeah, I have I don't think I've ever I I might have known somebody's, but like I don't I have no idea. Herbie: Maybe don't know if anyone's stationed there from the States, maybe from Jersey or something like that, 'cause you know everyone loves pork rolling Shamus: I figure maybe Korea because I'm you know might have known people in South Korea or something like that. ⁓ yeah. Bangladesh is another one. There's a couple listeners there. There's not too many, but I think there's like five or six listeners in Bangladesh. Very cool. ⁓ there's another like ⁓ Ubekistan. Like there's like two listeners. I don't know if they're like glitch like ⁓ England's got a couple. Yeah, it usually goes ⁓ America, England, Japan, Herbie: What about the UK? Represent my boys. Shamus: And then it starts kind of dwindling off to like one or two. Like I don't know if those are glitches or what the deal is. But yeah, like Vietnam and ⁓ that kind of really cause it's bigger, it's it's a bigger number. Like it's not like a glitch. So was just kind of like, man, Herbie: those numbers I I believe can only be achieved but if you actually listen to the episodes. Not really just like scanning Shamus: Yeah, yeah, you have to listen to like more than like half if the episode's like an hour and ten, you have to listen to at least thirty five minutes of it. Herbie: Yeah, which is cool, which is a great accomplishment that you know other people are willing to listen to it. That's that's awesome. That's a great thing, bro. So if like if you're in Patterson, there's so much stuff in New York for you to be able to talk about. So ⁓ just keep keep a keep a broad view on what you wanna talk about and cover, bro, because I'm sure there's a lot of stories to be told out there. So good for you, man. Give it shot. Shamus: Yeah, and like I said, ⁓ I thought this was when I first thought about doing this, I'm like, man, this is gonna take some work. It really isn't that hard. All you need is ⁓ you could do it on your phone. You can actually just record on your phone, go to riverside.com, dump the audio, yeah, edit it, and then just push it out, man. So hey man, just give it a shot, let it rip, talk about what you want to talk about. Yeah, and let us and hit us back, man. We'll listen. Herbie: Yeah, man, even if you're going solo dolo, man. If if you're going solo dolo, have a have someone that Shamus: Hell, we'll have you on the show, man. Come on. Cause that was ⁓ one thing when Brett came down, he was like, I don't know if I can, you know, when in the middle of the episode, he's like, I don't know if I can be ⁓ push we're all about that love, man. So yeah, if if you're ever on the show, man, just come down and push, put up whatever brand you got. Herbie: As long as you're cool, man. Just, you know, just no no problem, no dramas, none of that bullshit. You know? Shamus: Alright, number fifteen. What? No new turkey attacks? Mark from Brumall. Yeah, we kinda got away from the turkey thing. I was gonna say because it's I haven't really seen any have to do some research when we Herbie: Yeah. I haven't seen any turkeys attacking. I don't know, man. Maybe their bellies are full on human flesh already, so they're they're Shamus: They're good. I was gonna say maybe you're on vacation. Yeah. Well, like you said, they usually gather up at the hospital just to catch the heat from the doors when they open and stuff like that. So it's the summertime, they're probably chilling. ⁓ yeah. But ⁓ when we go to video, we got something for y'all. So we're not gonna release we're not gonna tell you yet, but we'll get back to the turkey thing. Yeah, apparently there hasn't been any turkey tech lately, Mark. Thanks for listening. Herbie: if we if there was we probably wouldn't know because they eat the bones and hair too, bro. Shamus: All you see was like a pair of Adidas. Herbie: Yeah, yup. Or a turkey wearing the goddamn Adidas. Look how the hell that happened. Sounds like he's got earbuds, he's got his shoes, he's got a knapsack. Jesus Christ. Shamus: Mod Holly Disney. Number sixteen. I gotta say I'm hooked. Love everything you have put out so far and look forward to every new episode. As you approach episode twenty-five, I guess it's before this. Do you guys have a favorite episode? And on the flip side, a not so favorite episode. I can't wait to jump the video and the new set. This show is tits. Ryan from Delynko. Thanks, Ryan. Yeah. Do you have a favorite episode? Herbie: Thanks, bro. Yeah, Ray, you're the bomb, bro. Thank you. God, there's so many of them that I what one of the first well it basically like Steve's, Uncle Len, Brett, you know, the scooper heroes ones was fun. It's and it was just like for me, fun telling everyone at work, like, I'm gonna interview a guy that has a company that's scoops dog poop. You know, so it's just always like ⁓ you know, updating like my whole workforce of of people. on what I'm doing. But ⁓ yeah, I would probably say like the the interviews that of people that we really know and care about and just be able to share information about their jobs. And it it wasn't even like a hard push. It was just y it was like one call. I'll be there. And it was just like a great time. Shamus: Not only that, but it just seems like every time we start talking to people, it just everything looks out and it's so much fun, dude. Yeah. ⁓ the episode I truly do love the episodes that we do together. Yeah. ⁓ I can't say I have a favorite because they've all been really good. you know, we had a lot of laughs with Len, Steve, ⁓ you knew Brett, but having him sit here, like I feel like I've known the guy for years. ⁓ the same thing with Barry and Andrew from ⁓ Scooper Heroes. Herbie: Yeah, I was gonna say, right? It's just Shamus: Like when those guys were leaving, like that one guy Andrew was just like, Hey man, I would love to come back. You know, da da da and it's I I didn't get a chance to get back to him 'cause I had so much stuff going on. And maybe we'll we'll reach out to those guys again. They'll be back on. But yeah, like every episode has been I can't really pick a favorite. ⁓ because every episode has like a moment where I'm just pissing myself, dude. Herbie: Yeah, right as I really and I haven't been disappointed in any of the episodes. Shamus: I'll tell you what the my f and maybe we'll put it on the bonus cut down the road somewhere. My least favorite episode was the one we try to do without you. ⁓ because you're you know, the thing with your mom. ⁓ we you know, we tried to get through it and I was just kinda like So w and we didn't put it out because of that. ⁓ that was and don't get me wrong, I had so much fun with Troy and Jason, but you can't talk Star Wars without Herbie. Yeah. ⁓ Herbie: ⁓ sorry, I got ⁓ sorry I missed you, Troy. Shamus: Well, we'll we'll g we'll bring him back. He's that's another thing. He I feel like I've known Herbie for years. I've never met the guy. So we'll get that taken care of. All right. Number 17. Love the old school endings to your shows. Now I I I couldn't figure out what he was talking about at first until I read the rest of it. Takes me back to the days of being home sick from school and watching the prices right in the morning and Jerry Spinger in the early afternoons. I'm assuming you were big fans. Listening to your show is a lot of fun and I look forward to more episodes. Lauren from Morristown. I couldn't figure out I'm like, what the hell is she talking about? But then I went back and listened and every once in a while I'm like, remember to have your pet spader dunes or you know, control the pet population or like take care of each other. Like and I was like, ⁓ my God, I haven't done that in a while. I kinda got away from it. So we're gonna bring that back a little bit. And I was just kinda like, I you know, I was always a fan as a kid. Like you always waited for that. Herbie: ⁓ I did. Shamus: To showcase and somebody wanted to showcase and like as they're freaking out behind Bob Barker and like you know, knocking him over and city was like, Remember, control the pet population of your friend And like Jerry Springer would have like all these people killing themselves on the stage and at the end he would just give some inspirational thing and he was like, And remember, take care of yourselves and each other and I was just kinda like Deaf we do it. Yeah. Herbie: Yeah. I loved Barb ⁓ Bob Barker's ⁓ freaking microphone, dude. It was just like it looked like a really r small lollipop with like a two foot long stick, dude. I was like, what the hell is that? It was like he was the only dude that had that Shamus: I played in bands. I was a lead singer, drummer. ⁓ I've been to concerts, I've seen I've been to Oz and peeked behind the curtain when it comes to music and all that stuff. I have never in my life, I couldn't even tell you what model, what company made that microphone do. Herbie: I was like, what hell is that? He was the only one that had it. So Lauren, thank you for the question. Or because I did the same thing too when I was a Shamus: To find that. ⁓ yeah. And we're bringing it to the video. ⁓ my. Herbie: God, how great would that be? Love that mic. that that mic would be like the X caliber of freaking everything, man. Because that thing was this yeah, like well like when you were kids, you you were sick. You'd sit there and watch the prices right, which was another weird thing 'cause I rarely ever see anyone roll the big wheel and land on the dollar. It was always like ninety nine. Yeah, I've s I've seen it once or twice in my long life. But I have you know, of course I stopped watching it when I was twelve or whatever like that. But I used to watch it because I was, you know, spend the weekends over at my grandparents' house. And that's where, you know, they had the ⁓ you know, she's grandma says, I I have ice cream for you and cookies and that's when had the Sherbert and the diabetic cookies and the puff rice for cereal. Shamus: Couple ⁓ couple mentions about that in the mailbag. ⁓ yeah? About the diabetic cookies and the sugar-free ice cream. Yeah. I had the same thing in my or the ⁓ the tin with the sewing needles and shit in it that you mentioned. Herbie: ⁓ dude, that's just well. Shamus: Yeah. All ⁓ right. Thanks for the the the ⁓ Lauren. Number Bro, for an hour long show, did an amazing job covering 80s music. If you could bo if you could go back to one year in the 80s, which one would it be? ⁓ Tony from Williamstown. Herbie: Yeah, thank you. That is a very, very, very good question. Shamus: I thought about this at work and I was like I would take I was thinking I was like eighty nine because then you could Yeah, I mean ⁓ it takes you to the end of the eight but then I thought to myself, I was like, Man, that's what I would have to say dead center, eighty five. Herbie: Cover most of it. Yeah, I was getting ready to say that. Like 85 or 86. Because there was just so much synth and it was just everything was out, man. ⁓ God. Yeah, that's that's a great question. Shamus: It is. It w it was a tough one. Yeah. But I would have to say eighty five just because Herbie: Five eighty six, you know, that's when also the Chicago Bears won. Yeah, eighty Shamus: Listen, I'm a as much as I'm a huge diehard Eagles fan, I love Jim McMahon, dude. That that guy's like I said, when we talked about ⁓ going on ⁓ the sighting and new, we talked about the best of times and Kurt Russell being that cool, cool I love them cool quarterback dude. Yeah, yeah. I got to meet him. Herbie: Well he was your quarterback too, man. The first game I ever went to was Giants Eagles at Giants Stadium and it was McMahon was the quarterback. Lost that game. Shamus: Yep. I got to meet him when I was a kid. God damn. He came to our little league football banquet. Did he? It was ⁓ right after he got ran into the Gatorade things and all that. ⁓ really? Yeah. Yeah. I got a picture of it somewhere, Polaroid. ⁓ sure. All right, number nineteen. Just listen to the field day and school spirit episode and gotta say I totally forgot how crazy Riverside got during sports night. The maroon most mighty and white will win flags. I told I I got a story about that. Yeah. Rival teams showing up at each other's houses and chanting. The girls truly own the town during sports night season. I no longer live in Riverside, and with time everything changes. But is this still a thing? And is it as big as it used to be when we went to school? Jason from Alabama. First of all, I don't know if it's still I I I don't live in Riverside anymore. ⁓ I have no idea if it's that big. So if anybody knows, please ⁓ reach out and let us know. I know one thing that they did ban was when you were driving through town. It was almost like Texas football. Like you would if s somebody was on a maroon team, they had these big ⁓ we're talking like gigantic flags at their house, like hanging off the porch or off the side of the house that said maroon most mighty. It was like a big ⁓ and it said Maroon Most Mighty. But they also had on the white team, it said White will win. This there was this girl down the street, she was a senior. I think she was like an assistant captain. And if you were an assistant captain, the bigger the flag. She had this big ass white sheet that said, White will win. She lived on a T intersection. Now, down the street was my buddy. I'm not, I'm not gonna say any names, but he was black. His family was black and cool, dude, and that stuff. His uncle came up from Mississippi or something like that for the weekend and shit. ⁓ yeah, exactly. You know where I'm going. He woke up one morning to go out to get the paper and sees this fucking white. What and I guess he thought he said like the whites will win, or and I'm sitting on my porch because it's down the street from my house, and then my buddy's house is down off to the left. Yeah. I'm sitting on my porch doing something, talking to somebody, and you just see this black dude. Like, I mean, he's a pretty decent sized dude, and he's like walking towards her house, and I'm like, what Herbie: Jesus. Shamus: Fuck is going on. Yeah. And you see my buddy come running up behind him, like tackle him, but like the rest of it. I'm like, the fuck is this? So and you see him pull like and like he's I'm not getting involved. That's one thing. Yeah. Like ⁓ not because of the racing, but yeah, if neighbors are fighting or whatever, you never get involved. Like it's just like my brothers fight. You just so this is like a Saturday. So Monday at school, I see him. I'm like, dude, what the Herbie: What the Shamus: And he was like, ⁓ yeah, my uncle came off from Mississippi. He thought that was some racist shit. So he was going over there to like burn the house down. I was like, so ⁓ I haven't been through Riverside during the Sports Night thing, but somebody said they kind of toned that down a little bit. I definitely know they toned down the parties. I don't know if sports night's still I'm sure it's still a thing. I don't know how ridiculous it is anymore. But ⁓ I'll get back to you. I'll let you know. So number twenty, great show. You guys vaguely mention Herbie: Damn. Shamus: What you do for a living. I know Seamus was law enforcement and Herbie works at a hospital, but I was wondering if you guys had favorite parts of your jobs and maybe the worst parts of it. Michael from East Hampton. Herbie: ⁓ it's good that's good question. ⁓ for me, ⁓ I enjoy helping people. I don't enjoy seeing people die. I enjoy helping my friends. I also but unfortunately with that type of job I see like my friends having babies there, which is awesome. I've also been a party to my friends that have died there while I was at work and I had to act like it was nothing bothered me, which really did. ⁓ I've also had friends there that worked there that committed suicide and I had to act like nothing bothered me. ⁓ also, you know, being you're at work, you can't really take time off for stuff like that. But I just really asked my boss, like, look, just let me just go to my my friend's viewing and I'll be right back. sometimes the the viewings and stuff like that will be down the street so I can go there and pay my respects real quick. But ⁓ yeah, just ⁓ the responsibility of working in a hospital is very trying because I'm always there on weekends, I'm there for holidays, ⁓ I see a lot of bad things, I see a lot of beautiful things, but losing people that I love and care about is is probably one of the most difficult things I have to do with like while I'm at the job and ⁓ act like it doesn't bother me. Shamus: Let's talk about the positive part of that. Herbie: Seeing like ⁓ my friends have babies. A lot of times I have a thing where I go and visit my friends in labor and delivery, and you know, they're like ⁓ not giving birth yet, and they're or you know, they haven't really been induced. So I'm actually kind of like like the dude that helps induce the moms. Because like I'll go in, visit, see how they're doing, and then I'll leave. And then next thing you know, boom, they go into labor, have the baby. I get to go visit. ⁓ I ran into a lot of good friends there, you know, at at the hospital. there's a lot of people that say ⁓ you know, I make a difference, I really appreciate what what I do. But ⁓ they always say they want to like, you know, report my name to, you know, get recognition. But I always tell them if you really, you know, appreciate what I do, I don't want any recognition. I just I just don't want it, you know. I never wanted it. So like, you know, so a lot of times I I've actually, you know, I've turned down money. turn down, you know, just, you know, nice reports. I just tell them either give me a hug or a handshake and just it's just it's just between me and you. You know, something like that is rewarding 'cause I I know there's a lot of people that even when I'm not there, there's patients that that come back that ask for me if I'm if I'm still here. Shamus: A great man once told me a man doesn't measure his worth by the the awards he wins or the medals he wears on his chest. Yeah. So yeah, who needs right up I'm here to do it because I'm that dude. ⁓ Herbie: It's true, man. It's it's just you know, it's like y you have your own reputation and that's it, man. No one can take it away from you. I don't really care about some goddamn suit giving me recognition that doesn't really even know my name. They can go fuck themselves. Shamus: I was gonna say ⁓ not so much military because that was so long ago. ⁓ when it comes to the state, the positive and I'm just gonna keep this short because I have really mixed feelings about a lot of it. ⁓ I love the people, ⁓ most of the people. ⁓ there was people there I couldn't stand. ⁓ I hated the politics of it. ⁓ and just and that was like the state law enforcement. ⁓ so yeah, the politics sucked. Policy sucked. ⁓ People were pretty I met a lot of really good people. And in the military too, I met a lot of really good people. ⁓ the military to me was great. ⁓ there wasn't too much negative about it besides not being home when you're in a combat ready unit or you know, combat brigade. ⁓ my new job, SRO, is parents suck. Administration sucks most of the time. And I love kids. Yeah. And, you know, I love goofing with them and you know, just Herbie: Yeah. Shamus: Today I threw another piece of gum at the bus and it stopped and they were freaking out. So, you know, that kind of stuff. I you know, I love talking trash to little kids and then giving it back to me. And yeah, you know, I had a teacher today, like when we got them up on the bus and the kids were like, ⁓ and I was just kind of like, wait a minute. Miss Jasmine washed this bus for the first time all year, and nobody said, Thank you, Miss Jasmine. Our bus is the cleanest one here. And they're like, You're right, Mrs. Shame. And like these are all like kindergarten first graders, and they're all like Stinks, Miss Jasmine. And I was like, and you know what else? And they all looked at me like that. I was just like, first grade stinks. And ran off the bus and they were like, ⁓ like they just freaked out. Like that's. Thank you for the thank you for the inbox. Herbie: Yeah, Seamus is definitely that really cool uncle that all the kids love. You definitely are. So Shamus: All right, number twenty-one. I know the last couple episodes, Seamus has mentioned merchandise and a new studio. Where will I be able to purchase merch? And besides the jump to video, will there be any other changes? And I was shocked by this. ⁓ Marcia from Kansas City, Kansas. So we're hitting the Midwest. Herbie: Nice. Thank you. Yeah. Well actually if if Marcia i i if you're from South Jersey or originally like is you know the the porkle, egg and cheese type thing. Hell if you ever get a chance to like write back or just let us know. It was you know, what what was it that that made you wanna get merch? Was it like the porkle, egg and cheese loaf? Shamus: Well she's not the only one. There was a bunch of different 'cause I I'd mentioned it recently. ⁓ it's coming. We're gonna set up ⁓ like I said, we have to set up an actual official inbox where you guys can send the email. Yeah. And ⁓ we're gonna set up like a small like store kind of deal where we can send you ⁓ like I said, we're gonna do t shirts, magnets, stickers, coffee mugs, just to start. Yeah. Maybe some scullies, ski caps and stuff. Yeah, yeah. Herbie: Yeah. Shamus: Yeah. So we'll get to that and as soon as we figure it out, Miss Marce, we will send you the link. And everybody else, of course. ⁓ the village handyman sending me a text. Nice. I'll check that out in a minute. Number twenty two. ⁓ real quick, Miss Marcia I do love Kansas City. I've been out to see my buddy. ⁓ it is beautiful. The barbecue's great. So make sure you're spreading ⁓ the news about the pork, roll, egg, and cheese. We love Kansas City, the people, not the team. ⁓ the barbecue Love to eat. So Herbie: And the barbecue. Derby like barbecue. Shamus: All right, number twenty-two, just finished up Heroes and Villains, and Heath Ledger is hands down the best villain of all time. I know Seamus isn't a fan, so I'll ask Kirby. I dude, I almost fucking threw my computer across my I was so mad when I read this. Do you think Robert Downey Jr. has a shot at being one of the best villains of all time now that he's Doctor Doom? Xander from Pensac. Herbie: Xander, very good question. He I know ⁓ it's like whatever he touches turns a gold. ⁓ it it is difficult. Shamus: I'm not even gonna comment on it. Herbie: If they're gonna like do him the way I'm hoping they do him, where he's just like the metal suit, the science, the the sorcery, all that stuff, then Robert Downey will do a great job. I also thought that James Spader did a great job as Ultron, even though there's a lot of people that didn't like that. ⁓ Willem Defoe But like you know, Willem Dafoe was also a a great green goblin, but you're right, the costume Shamus: Did that's Herbie: Sucked. I guess they try to make it more practical for like the real world. But ⁓ that's a great question, Xander. But I I'm I'm gonna hold off and I wanna see how it's done because no one's really done Doctor Doom. And he is such a huge iconic character. And a lot of people don't know about Doctor Doom. So I'd like to see it explored the right way, the costume done the right way. And ⁓ Robert Downey Jr. nails it, then then I could bend the knee. But, you know, he's still Iron Man to me. But it's just like I guess he could be like the great alternate reality villain. Or they can also do like a multiverse thing where Iron Man does turn evil, like in some of the other ⁓ comics. But ⁓ we shall wait and see. But you know, it's great questions, Andrew thank you. Shamus: Yeah, thanks, Sander. Herbie: Great name too, man. Shamus: Triple X. Twenty-three. Dude, what is the deal with Herbie's car? After hearing how you guys talk about it, I gotta know what he's driving. Brad from Delaware. Herbie: Brad like everyone knows my vehicle. It's a red Jeep Cherokee with all these nerd stickers on it. Shamus: That is right up there with the Batmont meal, Santa's sleigh. Yeah. And like when you see that coming, Herbie: Yeah. Like here he comes. This is it's definitely a me vehicle. I think like it it spawned from back in the day. I had a gray mercury stable and we were at my buddy Bobby's house. And ⁓ Shamus: I almost spent beer all over the place. I totally forgot about that, but I just thought until you said something I totally forgot about. Herbie: ⁓ you don't remember that? I remember it. So one night we're partying over at Bobby's house and his little brother Mark, also that we affectionately call Gark, ⁓ went to the dentist and he got to pick out these ⁓ these stickers as like an award for, you know, going to the dentist. And he of course, you know, Gark being Gark, it's like he got the cool stuff. So it's like, you know, these these decal stickers of bullet holes. So what Bobby did was when we were partied that night. He put these gray bullet holes on my gray Mercury Sable. And it was just like a couple of bullet holes. He put it like on the back door and ⁓ just played a prank. Cause we would a lot of times we would play pranks on each other. So ⁓ with the Jeep, ⁓ a buddy of mine actually works for like this ⁓ car wrapping ⁓ company ⁓ and they would just like make all these cool decals and we share the same birthday. So what he did was he got me this big Punisher skull with the New York Giants logo in it and he put it on the hood. ⁓ Shamus: Exactly. Herbie: But like and then also got like, you decals for like, you know, like I go to the Comic Con, so there's like a bunch of nerd decals. I've got like decals like from Japan, so it's like, you know, certain crest of ⁓ samurai families, ⁓ just a whole bunch. It's like an eclectic combination of like nerd, ninja, and sports. Shamus: All you gotta do is say, you know it when you see it. Like I said, the Batmobile, Santa Slay, the presidential limos with the flat like as soon you see it, you know who it is. Herbie: ⁓ yeah, definitely. Yeah, there's so many people. I still have people at work like, is that your Jeep? And some of them think I'm homeless because I have so much crap in there. It's like there's tailgating, there it's camping. There it's just it's just Shamus: Looks like some like a hoarder lives in there, dude. You have one seat and the whole goddamn thing that that's where you're driving from. Yeah. Everything has a purpose. It's not trash, it's just it's a rolling party is what it is. Herbie: There's just like 'cause every time I go to a public Yeah. Because every time we go to a party, people are like Herbie, you got any more? Because like, you they'll have like ⁓ you know sterno burners or anything like that. I got like chairs, tables. It's just you know, I have for like a while I had a beer pong table. So every time we go to like a workhouse party, I was I was that guy, Herbie, with the beer pong table. Shamus: Yeah, we gotta get you a pickup truck or something, dude. Yeah. So Herbie: Great question though, thank you. Yeah. Shamus: Yeah, thanks for the question. ⁓ it it's a ma like some of these it's amazing how how much they pick up from these episodes and the details they pick up on. Like I small stuff. Apparently like Brad from Delaware Herbie: Thanks, Brad. Shamus: Wanted to know what you drive because he heard his thing. So. All right, number 24. I love this show. Every episode is either a trip down memory lane or something educational. I mean, where else can you go for episodes on mythical creatures? Contractors talking about building decks into epic concerts. Junk mailers who rip a guitar. Field day. And window tinners from across the pond? Yeah, that's what that says. ⁓ yeah. Herbie: Yeah. Well he's not from across the pond, but he he's Shamus: No, he was he was born in England. Yeah. He's from across the pond. ⁓ being an avid sports fan, all New York everything, go Knicks. Yeah. Yeah. Fucking I gotta know who your favorite sports teams are. Hector from Newark. Herbie: Hector, here we go, bro. This is this is all me. Sorry. Huge Giants fan. I do travel to the UK and Germany for the games. yeah, huge Giants fan. I mean, like my Jeep has like nothing but like Giants logos and stickers and everything all over it. Giants tents. I go to the games, tailgate with my friends, and you know, K8. you know, just a huge Giants fan. Shamus: Let's keep it short. Herbie: From the Bronx. So of course, huge Yankees fan. Matter of fact, went to the Red Sox game this past Saturday. Got frickin' rained out, but you know, whatever. ⁓ Knicks fan, go Knicks, yes. ⁓ I just like to see our fans not try to beat the shit out of people wearing Spurs jerseys. I'm like, we could do better than that, bro. Granted, the refs suck and they're it almost looks like they're trying to just like turn the tides on the Knicks, but this is this is our year, man. We gotta do it. ⁓ hockey. I love hockey. I do dig the Rangers, but I'm a big ⁓ Devils fan. I've been on the Jumbotron once and every game I go to the Giants and all that stuff, even across the pond. I've never been on the Jumbotron. So that's been like my big my big, you know, thing that I wanted to do. ⁓ I always wear costumes. ⁓ I was also on Twitter for like when we went to the ⁓ London game against the Packers. ⁓ I just have a great time and You know, like I said, Knicks, Yankees, Giants, Devils. and I I I do watch sumo. Like ⁓ Hakkaho like one of my favorite sumo sumo wrestlers, but Shamus: Right? Yeah. ⁓ for me it's pretty easy. born and raised in Philadelphia. my dad was big into motorsports. Yeah. ⁓ my mom and my grandfather were avid, you know, four for four. Flyers, Sixers, yeah, Eagles. ⁓ yeah. Phillies. And I am too. ⁓ but I do respect I'm not one of those Philly fans you see like that ⁓ Herbie will tell you, like me and him can watch a Giants game and I don't you know, freak out or any of that stuff. so yeah, Eagles, Flyers, Sixers, and Phil's. I do love a little bit of NASCAR. I kind of miss Tony Stewart. I used to be a huge Tony Stewart fan. yeah, that's about it for me. ⁓ I would like to see ⁓ the Knicks win I to say this as much ⁓ my God, this pains me. And the only reason I would like to see the Knicks win it is not because of New York, because with them Villanova cats or the Knicks, especially Jalen Brunson, because he plays a type of basketball that is so old school that it's so old school and so fundamentally sound that the league has no idea how to handle that dude. Herbie: Yeah, that's why I always like that type of foot ⁓ football, basketball anyway. I love the old school, like New York style man, it's just yeah. Shamus: Yeah. So As much as I hate the Knicks, man. They they they got that Villanova core to them that so fucking hate saying it but go Knicks. Next question. Thanks for writing in, Hector. Now I have heartbreak. Herbie: They're holding it down, man. Yeah, Hector. Come see us at Lot K eight, man, because a lot of times we telegate at the Giants games, bro. Shamus: Number twenty five yeah, you ain't catching me up there, ⁓ no. You can catch Herbie. You ain't catching me up there. ⁓ twenty-five. Do you currently have any pets? Nicole from Gibbstown. Herbie: Very, very good question. I did, but you know, you you go go first, man, because we we got we got the we got the chunks here. Shamus: Do you have any pets? ⁓ those two I have ⁓ one bird. I had two parakeets. One of them just passed away actually. ⁓ I'm sorry. ⁓ and they were they were rescue birds. ⁓ Herbie: ⁓ Shamus: ⁓ so goose died, Maverick's still with us. ⁓ And then I got the meat heads. ⁓ Myrtle and Riggs. Yep. ⁓ One cat ⁓ is just total muscle, just a monster. Yeah. The other just he's just a mess. ⁓ Herbie: Ha ha ha ha. A chongus. Shamus: Love them to death, but man, they can really screw your day up. Herbie: They they're sweet cats, even though like one did order a a car for Seamus. Shamus: Yeah, yeah, one of my ⁓ that's another episode, but yeah, actually purchased a vehicle online that I had to pay for and right up in Hector's neighborhood from Newark. I had to go up to the public works department in Newark to pick it up. It was crazy. But ⁓ yeah, I I do love those dudes. I did have a dog up until and if you know me, you knew how much that dog meant to me. I had him for twelve years. ⁓ and when Adam his name was Adam A. T. O. ⁓ That just broke my heart, man. So it's it's it's tough for me. I was actually talking to somebody today about it. ⁓ the assistant principal I was talking about. We were talking about animals and stuff, and and she was like, Will you ever get another dog? And I was just kind of like. Yeah, so we'll see. But one of our guests coming in will be somebody from the Bronte County Animal Shelter. ⁓ she's a friend of mine. She's the reason why I ended up with these two meat heads. Herbie: Yeah, don't you hate that question? I do. I hate it. Yeah. Shamus: And ⁓ I don't know, maybe she can talk me into something. But as for right now, that's all I have. I have two cats, riggs and myrtle, and one bird left, Maverick. Herbie: Well that that's a cool thing you mentioned about like the rescue stuff, 'cause ⁓ Shamus: Before you say anything, every animal I've ever had since I was old enough to own my own house rescue, these two assholes, nobody wanted. And they were like kittens. Like they still had blue eyes and shit. Like their whole litter was adopted, and like every time they walked in, it was like feeding a lion. It's like when I went to go see these dudes, it was just kind of like, all right, put this on. And I was like, Are we going into like the cheetah tank? Or like, are these kids? Like when I walked in, they were like, You know, like little cats get all and like dude, they just like and the one actually started rubbing around my leg and they were just like, ⁓ see they love like Yeah. Man, we got in the car, dude. It was it's been downhill ever since. But I'm sorry, I didn't mean to cut every animal I've ever had has always been around. I'd never gone to like a mill or you know, any of that kind of stuff. So Herbie: No, you're good. Where I'm against Shamus: If you're gonna adopt an animal, please go to an animal shelter. Do it. They're usually free. They you know they're and they are good animals. Like Adam was incredible, dude. So Herbie: That's a good thing that everyone does like but like I said, ⁓ my one buddy, we used to do this thing. It was a bar crawl called the Pink Bunny Suit Ex Extravaganza. Yeah. And it'd be like 40 of us wearing the like the Ralphie from Christmas story outfits. And ⁓ just like just a bar crawl. And what we would do was ⁓ we would bring someone from a a different animal shelter. It could be like Berlin or Gibbsboro, stuff like that, and just raise money for pit bulls. Shamus: I've seen the pictures. Herbie: and other type of you know, animal shelters and stuff. Even if they didn't want to give money then at the spot, 'cause like we would normally go out, like the night before ⁓ Thanksgiving. So it'd be like forty pink bunnies, two representatives from the animal shelters, and ⁓ We would just ask for donations. And if they didn't want to if they didn't feel comfortable with ⁓ donations, then we just you know, the people that worked there would actually give them cards if they ever want to come to the shelter themselves to donate either blankets or food or anything like that was always, you know, welcomed. And we did that for like a couple of years and it was one of the best bar crawl fun things I've ever done in my life. ⁓ my buddy Jason did it. And ⁓ as far as pets, I've always had pets my whole life. I've had a range of like Fish, salamanders, dogs, cats, ferrets. ⁓ we the one time when I lived in Hamilton, we were getting ready to move. And we were moving to South Jersey. My mother was never a big cat fan. So the night before ⁓ we were getting ready to move, my aunt and everybody from South Jersey was up with us to help move, and there was this cat. And it was a Himalayan Persian and it was homeless and it was an adult. We don't know, you know, where the hell it came from. ⁓ so my aunt wanted to bring it in. My mom was like, ⁓ I don't want I don't want this cat. I don't want, you know, I don't want the cat. And my aunt was like, either I'm gonna take the cat or you're gonna take it. But was that she came in the house and she was walking around and the cat would actually stand up on her hind legs. And start going like begging for food. So my mom and it was a beautiful cat. It was a Himalayan Persian cat with like beautiful green eyes, white and gray. And ⁓ my mom was like trying to figure out names. She's like, all we're getting ready to move, so like maybe we'll take her with us. So my aunt was like, you know, she's German, so she's like, ⁓ she's like a little lipshit. And of course, my mom said, What? Lipshits? And then the cat was like, Mew, meow. And just agreed with the name Lipshits instead of Lipshit. And you know, they took took the cat and the rest was history. ⁓ so ⁓ you know, like I said, I've always had animals my whole life. I actually rescued a seagull that was actually outside the front of my house, which was pretty cool. and ⁓ normally I would have like ⁓ almost like a group of dogs. that all grew up together. And I even like I said, I used to give puppies away to people. I used to go to the Cherry Hall Mall and give puppies to good homes. the of course, you know, after all these years they they passed away. So I finally had another last dog. ⁓ his name was Chino. He was a Pomeranian and he he was like the one that, you know, broke my heart. I'm like ⁓ they all broke my heart, the ones 'cause a lot of ⁓ were outside. So we had like a big dog pen and and a nice kennel and a nice big yard for everyone to run around. And mom would actually make like homemade food for him. So it wasn't like it'd be a combination of dog food and stuff like that, but ⁓ Chino was also ⁓ rescue from the hospital because he was moved he was moved around to a bunch of ⁓ houses and stuff and this was after we hadn't had a dog for a while. So when we finally got Chino, ⁓ he was like the light of my life and he was the inside dog. He was like my best little buddy ever. and after I lost him with all of my w I went into, you know, the vet's office and, you know, when they put him down, 'cause like from old age or sickness and stuff like that, I was I was always there. And And when I lost Chino, ⁓ I brought him home, of course, and he's a l beautiful little tiny Pomeranian. ⁓ so I was able to have a statue. I found like a stone statue and ⁓ I have him at the house. I buried h I buried him. I I brought him back home and I buried him. ⁓ I got a little cough information like that. I it's like kinda stupid for some people to say, like, why'd get your dumb like it's it's my buddy Chino? And I also have ⁓ flags around it from ⁓ buddies of mine that I've lost that, you know, they're Star Wars fans. So basically like the people that I love didn't lost, there's there's a small cemetery at my house and ⁓ you know, other people say, ⁓ you're ever gonna get a dog again? I'm like, nah I'm I'm I'm I'm done. I I I can't do anymore. And I and I do. I love animals. All of our friends that I hang out with have animals and they love me and I'll house sit and you know hang out with them and just give them all the loves and all that.
