- 0:00Speaker 1: All right, Adam Kaplan's filling in for Andrew to check
- 0:02out today for today's football at four on the Sports
- 0:04Batch Live on ninety seven three ESPN, and Adam usually
- 0:07joined us on the Friday where the injury updates come back.
- 0:10But we do have some injury updates today and it's
- 0:13a pretty clean bill of health, Adam. For the Eagles,
- 0:16including one guy who might be a little bit of
- 0:18a surprise, and that's Will Shipley was back at the
- 0:20practice field today. But they only had four guys on
- 0:23the report yesterday, so it looks like they're entering with
- 0:26pretty clean bill of health.
- 0:28Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a good sign, Mike at only four now, Yeah,
- 0:31Shipley's definitely surprising. Now here's the thing. He's broken rip.
- 0:34He has to get clear for contact. Until he does,
- 0:37he can't play. You know, it's one thing to go
- 0:39out there. He's got to be able to take contact.
- 0:42So if you get cleared for contact, he'll play this week.
- 0:44It's simple as that. Really not much to add. But
- 0:46other than I am surprised, I'm with you a little
- 0:48bit now. AJ Dillon filled in from last week. He
- 0:51saw ten snaps. Right, they have a problem with pass
- 0:53protection or third down or any passing situations. It's just
- 0:56something we're going to have to work through that. It's
- 0:58not something they didn't know, but it's been a little
- 1:01bit of a problem. And Tank Bigsby all played on
- 1:03special team's return for kickoff returns. So obviously if Shipley plays,
- 1:08he'll only be on special teams if he's active. But
- 1:10it's certainly something to watch how they worked this rotation
- 1:13going forward behind saw Parkley.
- 1:15Speaker 1: Yeah, Shipley obviously had a nice little role in the
- 1:17first game there, added some stuff to the offense. Also,
- 1:21the other name those Dallas Goddard was on the injury
- 1:24report back at practice yesterday. But it looks like that
- 1:29knee that some people thought he might be out a
- 1:31little while for he could play this week.
- 1:34Speaker 2: Yeah, so he worked some today. We don't got to
- 1:36see how they list him. We're probably looking at a
- 1:40questionable take it best, but he's way closer this week
- 1:43than last week. He didn't do anything last week. He
- 1:44just redhab his knee. Kylin Granson played it's on thirty
- 1:48four snap fifty seven percent of the snaps last week,
- 1:50so they miss him. They need a block head in
- 1:54the worst way. It was good to see though cam Lot,
- 1:57who did a good job in his fullback role, but
- 1:59they needed sight and here the block now and obviously
- 2:01got it over the middle with what you saw in
- 2:04game one. I know they were a short area of plays,
- 2:07but they needed they need god her back with He
- 2:11and Hurts had a good they really had a great
- 2:13training camp together and it certainly showed less with that
- 2:15he didn't.
- 2:15Speaker 1: Play Tatam McKee has been out with the broken thumb.
- 2:19He was the emergency quarterback last week. But does he
- 2:21get back on the roster as the number two guy?
- 2:25Speaker 2: Yeah, he's closer this week. Okay, it's well, he's the
- 2:27two when he's healthy and he's got a broken right
- 2:30throng with thumb. So the good things he threw last week,
- 2:33he's throwing this to he's getting closer. That's good news.
- 2:36Now they also got some good news on offenses with now,
- 2:39I mean he's feeling great, but Brenton Lannon Dickerson, he's
- 2:43off the injury report with the back and that that's
- 2:46really good. Now you look at his situation, you know
- 2:50you'll worry about He's had back problems before he had
- 2:55the knee surgery. Mike, as you know, the off season surgery.
- 2:58Then he had any one the the meniscus trim. You know,
- 3:03the thing is they just don't have a body backup
- 3:05for him. Brett Toth is not it. I know he
- 3:07is the backup, but he's shown that he's not good enough.
- 3:11And the miss the myths that they had on Trevor Keegan,
- 3:14who they thought would be his backup. He wound up
- 3:16being cut and he's with another team now. That miss
- 3:19because they really need to develop a backup lineman in
- 3:22the interior alignment in the worst way right now with
- 3:24the playguard right and.
- 3:26Speaker 1: Then the other guys. As you know, we know that
- 3:29his uh injury from you know, the preseason is Landed Dickerson.
- 3:34He is off the report. That's been the spot there.
- 3:36Going on defense, A little surprise name was Jalen Carter.
- 3:39There was really no reporting of where this injury kind
- 3:42of happened.
- 3:44Speaker 2: All right, A couple of things here. So you saw
- 3:46him hold his for his hand. That not listed. It's
- 3:50the shoulder mic you are reporting on Jaalen Carter. We
- 3:53put this out if he was drafted. There was concern
- 3:57about some shoulder issues. He's had them since college. He
- 4:00usually plays but We don't know if it's the same
- 4:03shoulder that he had ENDO with, so he's going to play,
- 4:07but he has a listed with the shoulder this week
- 4:08and he was previously. That's something to watch. Jordan Davis,
- 4:12by the way you saw him limp off with the
- 4:13leg injury or something. Well, he's not listed. That's a
- 4:16good sign.
- 4:18Speaker 1: Obviously having him would be a big deal there. And
- 4:23what's the latest on to Kobe Dean As we get
- 4:25to week number three here, we know he's getting closer
- 4:27and of course the big question will be with Dean
- 4:29when he comes back. What do we see from Campbell
- 4:33on what Dean's role might even be.
- 4:35Speaker 2: Well, Campbell's the starter. That's not going to change because,
- 4:38as we said at the time, Dean will not get
- 4:40his job back if Campbell is doing this job well
- 4:43and barings something unforeseen, which would be a major drop
- 4:46off in mental errors and stuff. Campbell's so far ahead
- 4:48of schedule. As a team, it's way too early to
- 4:52give a shot of football. We just don't have enough
- 4:54data and information. But individual players job, Campbell is so
- 4:59far ahead of probably people are in the league thought
- 5:01he would be. He's been trific. He's just a stud. Now, look, Dean,
- 5:05he's coming off nature knee surgery. He thinks he's gonna
- 5:08be able to at least practice in week five, that's
- 5:10when he's eligible. Yet five, roll on, pup, you have
- 5:13to miss four games, he said. He look he made
- 5:16he said, I'll see you. I'll see you over five.
- 5:18We'll see. But that would be great. And now that
- 5:21the thing with Dean is though, whatever role he'll have
- 5:24will be strictly decided on about how he looks in practice.
- 5:27They don't get in practice, and they don't know. You know,
- 5:28how his rehab has gone. It's going really well. But
- 5:31until Mike you get him on the field, you just
- 5:32don't know where he's at all.
- 5:34Speaker 1: Right, Uh, Adam Capel here, that's a look at the
- 5:37injuries on the Eagles side of thing. To Kobe Dean,
- 5:40as we pointed out, he is out to at least
- 5:42week four. Uh, but uh, he could practice in week five,
- 5:46and that would bring up this discussion. We'll go back there.
- 5:49Flip it over to the Rams here because obviously they
- 5:53have a couple of names on their injury list that
- 5:55could factor into this game, especially on the offense and
- 5:58defensive line.
- 6:00Speaker 2: Steve Steve Stevola is their guard who played center before.
- 6:05He's got a bailor. He was a third round pick,
- 6:07didn't play week one. Outside chance he plays like they
- 6:11practiced later today, so there's a chance. They say closer
- 6:14this week than last week. They had undrafted free agent
- 6:17Justin Diditch who filled in for him last week. Did
- 6:19a good job and he hung in there, so kick
- 6:22on that. That's an advantage Eagles of if he's got
- 6:24to play. Brighton Fisk, who got hurt last year. He
- 6:29played briefly with the injury. He's one of his starting
- 6:32defensive tackle. It's a really good play who could rush
- 6:34the passer. He got hurt in pregiin warrms last week, Mike,
- 6:37he only saw thirteen snaps. They're optimistic he'll be able
- 6:40to play, but the big injury, not that he's a
- 6:42great player. Kill Willerspoon, who's a drink corner at thirty
- 6:45years old. He's the best corner. He's done for probably
- 6:48a couple of months, broken clavical. They are really light
- 6:52at corner and right now Des Williams, who's a journeyman
- 6:55who was the start of many years ago for them.
- 6:56He's back. Kobe Durant. He's been a quality backup. They're
- 7:01really short. Both corners are about five to ten and
- 7:05then the other one is the other started corner, Annual Forbes.
- 7:07You might remember him. A J. Brown abused him a
- 7:09couple of years ago. He's really thin. He's over six feet.
- 7:14I might and we'll get into the matchups this week
- 7:16or in the segment for this week's game. This is
- 7:19a matchup where the Eagles could get a J. Brown
- 7:21involved and they got to come out front a little
- 7:24bit to not have to throw out forty times Mike.
- 7:26But they got to get a J. Brown on Emmanuel
- 7:28Forbes because Forbes is too small physically.
- 7:31Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, we were discussing that yesterday with Brian Baldinger
- 7:34who joined us and talked about that that this is
- 7:36the week their secondary, their corners specifically. We'll get to
- 7:40get into that here in just a second. So when
- 7:43you look at this game, let's talk a little bit
- 7:45about what we expect here. When you look at the
- 7:47Rams offense and their defense, you got Matthew Stafford. Obviously,
- 7:52this is a they played twice last year. Some people
- 7:54forget they did play in Week twelve and the Eagles
- 7:55won that game kind of handling. It was thirty seven
- 7:57to twenty. The playoff game was obviously a lot of
- 8:00different stories. So what do we expect the third time
- 8:03they play in less than a year.
- 8:05Speaker 2: Yeah. In fact, Syriani's three to zero against the Red
- 8:07So yeah, I would say this that last year the
- 8:11Eagles bombed him in LA. They every Hurts played well
- 8:15in that game, but that was obviously a Barkley game.
- 8:16He was unbelievable. I would argue it was Brandon Grant's
- 8:20best was an Eagle he in that Ironically, twenty got hurt.
- 8:23He was. We actually talked to beg We interviewed him
- 8:27for the seams starter and he talked to it. Look,
- 8:30he was in a zone that day and that's one
- 8:32of the things of his retirement. They have not never
- 8:34replaced his pass rush. But yeah, what you're going to
- 8:37get on those offenses. DeVante Adams, who looked great last
- 8:40week against Tennessee Stafford. The back problem with he's over it.
- 8:44He's thirty seven years old, still slinging. It looks great.
- 8:47Jimmy Garoppolo is his back of something had to happen.
- 8:50They're not great on the offensive line. Coleman Shelton, who's
- 8:54their centers back. He was with the Chicago Freeri's back.
- 8:57Kevin Dotson has been increded. Kevin Deston was a guy
- 8:59the Steelers we're going to cut and they not traded
- 9:02into the Rams. Dodson plays out of his mind, gets
- 9:05an extension Rob Havnstein to see him. He's been with
- 9:08the Rams since fifteen. Good player, he's older. And Alaric
- 9:13Jackson who was an andrafted free agent twenty twenty one,
- 9:15who's got who just got a big deal. They have depths,
- 9:18I mean they are above average. Is not that good
- 9:20he goals really handled him the last year. But the
- 9:23thing is you've you've got to be able to get
- 9:25to Stafford because he's got a quick release. And Devontae Adams.
- 9:27We mentioned Pukka. When you watch him number twelve in
- 9:31this game, Mike, watch how they deploy him. He's really
- 9:35not a tough side receiver. They reduce him, they move
- 9:39him inside and he's really tough there. He's super strong.
- 9:41So that touchdown run last week, he looked great. Kyron
- 9:44Williams has been way better than anyone thought it running
- 9:47back to Notre Dame. He's now in his fourth year,
- 9:50he got his extension. Great story of development. He's way
- 9:52better than people thought. And Lake corm who's a good player.
- 9:55He looked good last week. So they have a great offense.
- 9:59Everyone once in a while their offensive line doesn't full.
- 10:02So they like in week one they didn't. They didn't.
- 10:04They barely won. Their defense carried them. But defensively, Mike,
- 10:09you mentioned the corners, I don't know how they're doing it.
- 10:11I mean, Chris schul is a good defensive coordinator. They're
- 10:13not good at corner. That's how you win. They're super
- 10:16really good at safety. Cam Curll came member for watching Campsins,
- 10:20who's a third round of last year out of Miami.
- 10:22Great defensive line. Everybody knows about Jared Versus what he
- 10:26did last year in the plaid game. In the snow
- 10:28here I mentioned Fisk. Kobe Turner is a good football player.
- 10:32The other Byron Youngest phenomenal in a great week last week.
- 10:35Who's an interest out of Tennessee. So they're really good.
- 10:38But things they're really small mic defense, really small linebacker.
- 10:42They're athletic, but small. Punaford who will start at the
- 10:45nose tackle. It's five foot ten and a half, but
- 10:49thirty four inch arms. They're athletic, they're well coached, but
- 10:52they're small, and the Eagles offensive line dominated them at
- 10:56the game in LA. Expect them to dominate on the
- 10:58sunny here in Philly.
- 10:59Speaker 1: All Right, a little breakdown of the matchup that you
- 11:01can hear right here on ninety seven three ESPN. Of course,
- 11:05the kickoff at one o'clock. It's a series of one
- 11:07o'clock games. Adam, get the one o'clock football back into

- 11:12Quick right here on ninety seven to three ESPN. Hey,
- 11:16thanks for pinchingt Bud.
- 11:17Speaker 2: You got a man. Thank you.
