Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: We're going to Sport with Adam Coopan. Now the black
- 0:01Speaker 1: Caps have lost to England at him. Yeah, pretty disappointing,
- 0:04Speaker 1: Ryan Morning. Yeah, not a great set of start to this,
- 0:07Speaker 1: you know, much anticipated series. And I think what's probably
- 0:10Speaker 1: most frustrating from a New Zealand perspective on this one
- 0:13Speaker 1: is that the hosts there in christ Church since Thursday
- 0:17Speaker 1: certainly had their chances and had their opportunities to capitalize
- 0:21Speaker 1: on a pretty evenly poised tests, you know, which it
- 0:24Speaker 1: was for at least the first couple of days. And
- 0:26Speaker 1: I think the real takeout from that was eight dropped
- 0:30Speaker 1: catches in that first innings of England they managed to
- 0:32Speaker 1: get four hundred and ninety nine, which you know, compared
- 0:35Speaker 1: to New Zealand's three hundred and forty eight first innings.
- 0:37Speaker 1: That's where the Test was won. And when there's eight
- 0:40Speaker 1: dropped catches in the innings, it's more than just coincidence,
- 0:42Speaker 1: it's more than just chance. So yeah, pretty disappointing. This
- 0:46Speaker 1: black Caps team at one point in the last of
- 0:49Speaker 1: five six years, have been you know that the world
- 0:52Speaker 1: leaders in fielding. It was one of those aspects of
- 0:55Speaker 1: New Zealand's game that made them, you know, sit right
- 0:57Speaker 1: at the top of the world cricket standings and be competitive,
- 1:02Speaker 1: so pretty worrying to just to see how many catches
- 1:04Speaker 1: were dropped by the black Caps there, and you know
- 1:07Speaker 1: England just just were able from that moment to guide through,
- 1:09Speaker 1: didn't have to take too many risks and wrap up
- 1:12Speaker 1: a very comprehensive eight wicket win over New Zealand. So
- 1:15Speaker 1: two tests to go, so still winnable for New Zealand.
- 1:18Speaker 1: Starts next test, starts Wellington on Friday. All right, what's
- 1:21Speaker 1: happening with the one in Qatar? Apparently Liam Lawson's been
- 1:24Speaker 1: that we was up and then he was down and
- 1:25Speaker 1: then was up again. Has it looking Yeah, he's sort
- 1:27Speaker 1: of sort of holding that sort of seventeenth spot where
- 1:29Speaker 1: he started on the grid. Been watching actually very closely
- 1:32Speaker 1: what happened at the starting grid obviously, but a controversy
- 1:35Speaker 1: yesterday and qualifying with Max fist up and posting the
- 1:37Speaker 1: fastest time but then getting you know, a backup place
- 1:41Speaker 1: behind George Russell for a bit of a confrontation they
- 1:44Speaker 1: had there, but maxwistupp and pretty much took the lead
- 1:48Speaker 1: from the second turn of the race very early on,
- 1:51Speaker 1: took him about seven or eight seconds to get back
- 1:53Speaker 1: in front. Looks like Lando Norris actually was going to
- 1:56Speaker 1: have the lead from thirty. He momentarily got there, but
- 1:58Speaker 1: Max fist up and showing his class early. But you're right,
- 2:02Speaker 1: all eyes on Liam Lawson here. You'd hope he will
- 2:05Speaker 1: be able to make up some places and get a
- 2:06Speaker 1: slightly bitter score with just two races to go this season.
- 2:09Speaker 1: Certainly would. Adam, thank you very much for your time
- 2:11Speaker 1: this morning. Great to have you on the show. Was
- 2:12Speaker 1: always twenty three after five Adam Cooper's It'd be Sport
