- 0:05Speaker 1: Hi, I'm Leah Thompson, you're listening to Movie Meltdown.
- 0:22Speaker 2: It's showtime.
- 0:23Speaker 3: The following feature has been rated R by the Motion
- 0:26Speaker 3: Picture Association of America. It is intended for mature audiences
- 0:31Speaker 3: and parental discretion is advised.
- 0:33Speaker 2: Our nuclear reactor pumping out one million kilowatts of power.
- 1:18Speaker 4: What's up and welcome to movie meltdown i'm brian.
- 1:21Speaker 5: I'm nora i'm jacqueline.
- 1:22Speaker 6: I'm philip and we are back once again we've survived
- 1:26Speaker 6: long enough to put out one more episode we'll just
- 1:29Speaker 6: day by day at this point we'll just like the
- 1:31Speaker 6: rest of the world We'll see if we make it
- 1:33Speaker 6: to tomorrow. So as we mentioned briefly on our last
- 1:40Speaker 6: Patreon episode, if you didn't hear it, you should join
- 1:43Speaker 6: the club. Go get on the horror club and you
- 1:45Speaker 6: can hear all about it. But we were discussing how
- 1:48Speaker 6: we kind of did a test run of talking over
- 1:53Speaker 6: the internets. And then I was like, I don't really
- 1:55Speaker 6: want to do that with our horror club.
- 1:58Speaker 4: So we pushed that off. And then we came back
- 2:01Speaker 4: to do the horror club.
- 2:01Speaker 6: And then I was like, well, but I kind of
- 2:03Speaker 6: want to hear what you guys are up to. We
- 2:05Speaker 6: haven't sat down in months. So I was like, usually if.
- 2:11Speaker 4: It's been a few weeks, sometimes it's hard to pull
- 2:13Speaker 4: together a few things that we've watched.
- 2:15Speaker 6: But I figure you give it three months or so,
- 2:18Speaker 6: we probably watched one or two things.
- 2:20Speaker 4: So I figured maybe we do.
- 2:23Speaker 6: Some sort of live and in-person geek activities. Before I
- 2:27Speaker 6: was checking in to see if those people were still alive.
- 2:30Speaker 6: You've made it here, so you're at least somewhat alive.
- 2:33Speaker 6: Enough that you got yourself out into the world. So,
- 2:36Speaker 6: now we can do live and in-person geek activities.
- 2:40Speaker 4: So, the world.
- 2:42Speaker 6: Falling apart, you hunker down in the bunker, what are
- 2:46Speaker 6: you watching?
- 2:47Speaker 3: I find that I've been watching a lot of things
- 2:50Speaker 3: that I would not have given a chance before. Not like,
- 2:54Speaker 3: very explicitly, like, fuck that movie, but things that just,
- 2:58Speaker 3: I always scroll past, like I watched Shazam, finally.
- 3:03Speaker 7: I would never think to turn it on.
- 3:05Speaker 3: I'm always just like, recommend it for you.
- 3:07Speaker 4: And I'm like, no, not today.
- 3:09Speaker 8: And I did it.
- 3:09Speaker 9: And I was very happy.
- 3:11Speaker 1: That I did.
- 3:11Speaker 4: The movie, I'm assuming, not the TV. There was a
- 3:14Speaker 4: TV series if you go back.
- 3:16Speaker 3: I have mostly been watching TV over movies.
- 3:18Speaker 2: This isn't the one where Shaq plays the genie.
- 3:21Speaker 7: That's good.
- 3:25Speaker 5: I will always give Kazam a watch.
- 3:27Speaker 2: I don't care.
- 3:29Speaker 9: Time of day.
- 3:30Speaker 2: I was just getting confused.
- 3:34Speaker 9: That's definitely what I thought you were talking about.
- 3:36Speaker 7: Everyone thought I was talking about Kazam.
- 3:39Speaker 6: Do you think maybe that's what hurt its chances at
- 3:41Speaker 6: the box office? Because Shazam did not do, in a
- 3:45Speaker 6: world filled with superhero movies, Shazam did not make the
- 3:48Speaker 6: kind of money they probably wanted.
- 3:50Speaker 2: That's a movie people have been screaming for for a while.
- 3:53Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 3:53Speaker 2: The Shazam movie.
- 3:54Speaker 6: And it's not terrible. Like, it's one of those, like,
- 3:57Speaker 6: it was fine. Like, I didn't think they were like,
- 4:00Speaker 6: oh my god, this was so much better. But I'm like,
- 4:02Speaker 6: it also was not bad.
- 4:04Speaker 4: Like.
- 4:04Speaker 6: A lot of stuff in it was pretty solid and
- 4:07Speaker 6: mostly the kids' performances. Like the main and the best
- 4:11Speaker 6: friend kid, like their scenes together are really good. Again,
- 4:14Speaker 6: grown up gets almost too silly at moments. Like it's
- 4:17Speaker 6: a weird dynamic because he's a way more serious kid.
- 4:21Speaker 6: Suddenly when he becomes Zachary Levi or whatever his name is,
- 4:24Speaker 6: like he's gone back about four years. Like he becomes
- 4:28Speaker 6: very kid-like when he's the grown up, more so than
- 4:31Speaker 6: when he's the kid, which seems very weird.
- 4:33Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 4:33Speaker 3: The thing is, is that the humor in the movie,
- 4:37Speaker 3: the pacing of it really reminded me of like Taika Waititi.
- 4:41Speaker 5: Yeah. In just that it's just like, bam, in your face. Like,
- 4:46Speaker 5: here's a laugh.
- 4:46Speaker 3: And I just enjoyed watching it. I mean, do I,
- 4:50Speaker 3: will I remember it?
- 4:51Speaker 9: No, I don't care.
- 4:53Speaker 3: I wasn't sad at home, just like we all are.
- 4:56Speaker 3: And it made me laugh for an hour and a
- 4:58Speaker 3: half or two hours or however long.
- 5:00Speaker 6: Again, that's maybe working against it is that it's almost
- 5:04Speaker 6: like both ends of that spectrum.
- 5:06Speaker 4: Like it is a really good comedy, but it plays
- 5:09Speaker 4: pretty heavy.
- 5:10Speaker 6: And like there's weird dark subplot going on of how
- 5:14Speaker 6: everybody gets their powers. And there's these other people that
- 5:17Speaker 6: are being victimized along the way and destroyed and ripped apart.
- 5:21Speaker 4: By evil creatures.
- 5:22Speaker 6: I'm like, it's pretty dark and heavy for something that's
- 5:26Speaker 6: also kind of a silly slapstick comedy at moments. So yeah,
- 5:31Speaker 6: I don't know. It may be so uneven that people
- 5:33Speaker 6: don't know what to do with it. But yeah, there's
- 5:36Speaker 6: a lot of really good moments in there. That's another
- 5:39Speaker 6: one of those that I wonder if that's like why
- 5:43Speaker 6: things take off and others don't. It also, you're saying,
- 5:49Speaker 6: it makes you to take a moment to give these
- 5:51Speaker 6: things a shot.
- 5:51Speaker 4: That you wouldn't.
- 5:53Speaker 6: Do we think maybe, if we're pinning underhanded plots, do
- 5:57Speaker 6: you think streaming services are behind all of this? Everybody's
- 6:01Speaker 6: making use of their streaming services now.
- 6:03Speaker 4: This is true.
- 6:04Speaker 6: If somebody's manufacturing a disease somewhere, it's probably Netflix.
- 6:08Speaker 10: I don't know.
- 6:08Speaker 4: I'm just saying.
- 6:09Speaker 9: Them and Zoom.
- 6:10Speaker 4: They're not a sponsor.
- 6:11Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 6:11Speaker 4: If anybody benefited from this, Zoom made a fortune. Yeah.
- 6:16Speaker 4: We're going to start investigating on these, I think. I
- 6:19Speaker 4: think that's something to look into.
- 6:21Speaker 9: FBI. Ring, ring.
- 6:26Speaker 4: Neither of them are sponsors, so I don't care. I'll
- 6:28Speaker 4: call them out for killing people. So on the sort
- 6:33Speaker 4: of superhero tie-in, this is one that I'd heard about.
- 6:39Speaker 6: I think on the internets, we're passing the trailer around,
- 6:42Speaker 6: like in 2017, back when it came out.
- 6:45Speaker 4: And like that first time, I was just like, what
- 6:48Speaker 4: the hell is this? So I think as I watched.
- 6:51Speaker 6: This, I was like, yeah, it's probably good just to
- 6:53Speaker 6: sort of reset your.
- 6:56Speaker 4: System, recalibrate things.
- 6:58Speaker 6: Because we've probably watched, especially as horror fans, we've probably
- 7:01Speaker 6: watched a lot of like films from other countries, but
- 7:04Speaker 6: they're usually like indie movies that you're like, I heard
- 7:07Speaker 6: this was really.
- 7:07Speaker 4: Good and watch it and it probably holds up.
- 7:09Speaker 6: How often do you watch really big budget movies from
- 7:13Speaker 6: other countries?
- 7:15Speaker 4: Because I watched the, well, no, the Guardians. Not the,
- 7:22Speaker 4: they're not from a galaxy.
- 7:23Speaker 6: This is just 2017's Guardians, which is a, again, even
- 7:29Speaker 6: though they worked the Guardians title in, they're not ripping
- 7:32Speaker 6: that off.
- 7:32Speaker 4: It is such an Avengers ripoff from Russia.
- 7:37Speaker 6: And again, it just recalibrates things because this is like,
- 7:43Speaker 6: pretty high budget for any other country, other than what's
- 7:47Speaker 6: being cranked out in Hollywood that has tons of funding.
- 7:50Speaker 6: This is probably a pretty high caliber production for them
- 7:54Speaker 6: when they release their movies for the year, and yet
- 7:57Speaker 6: still kind of circles somewhere around the area of a
- 8:01Speaker 6: sci-fi movie.
- 8:03Speaker 4: In our country, comparatively.
- 8:05Speaker 6: The effects are not quite up to speed with something like.
- 8:10Speaker 4: The Avengers or any of our superhero.
- 8:12Speaker 6: Movies so uh yeah they have your normal kind of
- 8:18Speaker 6: superhero people and then a bear because it's russia so
- 8:24Speaker 6: they're sort of like i guess the mixture of rocket
- 8:27Speaker 6: and groot.
- 8:28Speaker 4: Into one character he's a giant creature and he's an.
- 8:31Speaker 2: Animal that poster art is fantastic.
- 8:33Speaker 6: Exactly see i'm like i saw the trailer and i
- 8:36Speaker 6: was like wait is one of them a bear like
- 8:38Speaker 6: so he's like a bear man yeah he turns into
- 8:41Speaker 6: like a werebear and like he's just yeah that's that's
- 8:46Speaker 6: what i watch.
- 8:47Speaker 2: He's just one part away from being man bear pig.
- 8:52Speaker 4: So yeah it's um interesting oh.
- 8:58Speaker 2: Man because the poster's great the actual picture of this
- 9:05Speaker 2: guy oh that's the trailer which i didn't mean to
- 9:07Speaker 2: go to.
- 9:08Speaker 4: Oh, no, the trailer.
- 9:09Speaker 6: Really, the trailer kind of does everything you need it
- 9:11Speaker 6: to do. I watched it in its entirety and went,
- 9:14Speaker 6: I didn't get anything.
- 9:15Speaker 2: I mean, look at that incredibleness.
- 9:18Speaker 7: I did.
- 9:19Speaker 9: What?
- 9:20Speaker 2: Ew.
- 9:21Speaker 9: Why does it have abs like that?
- 9:22Speaker 4: Because he's ripped, yo. Superheroes always got to have abs.
- 9:27Speaker 4: Calm down, Jacqueline. Getting a little excited about that bear.
- 9:31Speaker 2: As far as a Russian superhero movie goes, kind of
- 9:35Speaker 2: realistic looking for what I would assume a ManBear hybrid.
- 9:39Speaker 6: It's not like a mascot from a basketball game, which
- 9:42Speaker 6: is kind of what you would have expected.
- 9:44Speaker 2: That's what I was expecting.
- 9:45Speaker 6: If it was like the 80s, it would have looked
- 9:47Speaker 6: like the Roger Corman Fantastic Four.
- 9:49Speaker 4: It would have looked like.
- 9:51Speaker 6: The thing, which, don't get me wrong, that has a
- 9:53Speaker 6: special place in all geeks' hearts. But this has definitely
- 9:56Speaker 6: you know, moved into the 21st century of.
- 9:59Speaker 4: Cheesy CG effects. And, yep, it's interesting.
- 10:04Speaker 6: But again, I think all you need to do is
- 10:05Speaker 6: go watch the trailer. Because I think the trailer does
- 10:08Speaker 6: everything that the movie does.
- 10:10Speaker 4: It just takes a lot longer.
- 10:11Speaker 2: The bear has a Gatling gun.
- 10:14Speaker 4: Of course. Oh, my God.
- 10:15Speaker 9: I mean, come on.
- 10:16Speaker 5: It just, oh, my goodness.
- 10:18Speaker 9: Yes. Why are his arms so huge and muscular?
- 10:21Speaker 4: Because he's a bear. Because he's ripped, yo.
- 10:24Speaker 2: But they're like less hairy than the rest of them.
- 10:26Speaker 4: So you can see his hot muscle arms to go
- 10:29Speaker 4: with his hot bear abs. Come on, man.
- 10:31Speaker 2: I feel like this is what Lucas had in mind
- 10:34Speaker 2: when he created Chewbacca.
- 10:36Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 10:36Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 10:37Speaker 2: But he's like, I just, no one will believe that.
- 10:39Speaker 6: But he's like, Peter Mayhew's pretty skinny, so I guess
- 10:41Speaker 6: I gotta make him kind of skinny.
- 10:43Speaker 4: You know, just real tall. How about that? Tall and hairy.
- 10:46Speaker 5: What would a shaven Chewbacca look like, I wonder?
- 10:49Speaker 2: Disturbing it's like oh i don't feel good about life
- 10:54Speaker 2: anymore so is the character's name ursa major well of
- 10:59Speaker 2: course awesome because there's a picture here and that's the
- 11:04Speaker 2: caption just as ursa major that'd.
- 11:07Speaker 9: Be pretty great if that was a different character's name
- 11:09Speaker 9: and they just didn't explain it at.
- 11:11Speaker 6: All like they weren't paying attention oops wait what was
- 11:13Speaker 6: this supposed to go towards.
- 11:16Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, again, there's not much else to it.
- 11:19Speaker 4: There's a bad guy.
- 11:20Speaker 6: That, again, is like as generic as a random superhero
- 11:24Speaker 6: movie in Russia is going to make a bad guy.
- 11:26Speaker 4: And there's a lot of.
- 11:28Speaker 2: Well, they're all bad in Russia.
- 11:31Speaker 4: I'm sure they don't feel that way in their own country.
- 11:34Speaker 2: But this movie is genuinely entertaining, correct?
- 11:37Speaker 6: Yeah, again, it's probably wears out its welcome about an
- 11:42Speaker 6: hour in.
- 11:45Speaker 4: But it's not that long anyway. It's 89 minutes. So really,
- 11:48Speaker 4: it's just long enough to be like, okay, I've seen it.
- 11:51Speaker 4: I'm good. So it's fun and ridiculous.
- 11:55Speaker 2: That's all I'm asking for with this.
- 11:57Speaker 11: I mean.
- 11:58Speaker 4: That was my thing.
- 11:59Speaker 6: I didn't, like, when I first saw it, I didn't, like,
- 12:02Speaker 6: knock myself down trying to run and get to it,
- 12:04Speaker 6: but it showed up streaming, and I was just like, huh,
- 12:07Speaker 6: all right, let's watch this.
- 12:09Speaker 4: What the hell else have I got to do? So, Guardians.
- 12:17Speaker 2: Oh, man, that makes.
- 12:19Speaker 4: You're just going to be distracted the whole time.
- 12:21Speaker 2: Yeah, I apologize, you guys, but at the same time,
- 12:24Speaker 2: not really.
- 12:27Speaker 9: For some reason, I've only been watching a bunch of
- 12:31Speaker 9: horror movies and horror TV shows.
- 12:33Speaker 4: I don't know what.
- 12:34Speaker 9: That says about me or why I'm doing that. But
- 12:38Speaker 9: I watched The Lodge recently that came out.
- 12:42Speaker 4: Again, I thought about it. I saw that trailer.
- 12:45Speaker 6: I didn't know if we would end up doing an
- 12:47Speaker 6: episode on it because it did look pretty good.
- 12:51Speaker 9: I don't know if we'd want to, but I can
- 12:53Speaker 9: stop talking about it if you do want to.
- 12:55Speaker 4: You tell me. Is it worth us discussing?
- 12:58Speaker 9: It's kind of slow, but generally, I liked it. It's
- 13:04Speaker 9: gotten mixed reviews, but the ending left me very disturbed
- 13:09Speaker 9: and upset.
- 13:12Speaker 4: Is it as disturbing as most horror movies at this point?
- 13:16Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 13:17Speaker 6: Because it seems like a lot of things that have
- 13:18Speaker 6: come out in the last few years, like weird little
- 13:21Speaker 6: indie horror movies, you're like, this will be fun.
- 13:23Speaker 4: Oh, my God. What the fuck did I just watch?
- 13:25Speaker 9: Yeah. I'm usually not too affected by it, but this
- 13:28Speaker 9: one really got me.
- 13:29Speaker 2: Now I want.
- 13:30Speaker 5: To watch it. It's going to mess me up.
- 13:33Speaker 9: Yes.
- 13:34Speaker 8: I know. Exactly.
- 13:35Speaker 9: Because my friend was like, you never actually get scared
- 13:38Speaker 9: of scary movies. Let's watch something that might freak you out.
- 13:41Speaker 9: And then afterwards, I was like, great job.
- 13:43Speaker 8: Thanks a lot.
- 13:43Speaker 9: I'm not going to sleep all night. Um, but it
- 13:48Speaker 9: was good. It's about like, um, these two kids and
- 13:51Speaker 9: their parents get divorced and their mom goes out of
- 13:54Speaker 9: the picture in a very abrupt scene. And, um, their
- 13:57Speaker 9: dad starts dating this new woman who, when she was
- 14:00Speaker 9: like 13, um, she was in this cult run by
- 14:04Speaker 9: her dad and they all kind of heavens gated themselves
- 14:07Speaker 9: except for her.
- 14:08Speaker 4: Wow.
- 14:09Speaker 9: So she witnessed that.
- 14:10Speaker 4: You know how that goes. We were planning that later
- 14:12Speaker 4: at the end.
- 14:12Speaker 12: Of this episode.
- 14:13Speaker 9: Which, I mean, we know I love cults, so I
- 14:14Speaker 9: was immediately like, yes, cults!
- 14:16Speaker 4: What more do you want?
- 14:19Speaker 9: So then the dad in the dumbest decision ever is like, hey, kids,
- 14:23Speaker 9: this woman that you hate and blame for me and
- 14:25Speaker 9: your mom's divorce, why don't you guys go into this
- 14:28Speaker 9: isolated cabin for like a week and get stuck in
- 14:31Speaker 9: a snowstorm? That way you'll bond. And I'm going to
- 14:34Speaker 9: go back to work, but I'll be back in a
- 14:36Speaker 9: few days. It's just like, you idiot. So then it
- 14:39Speaker 9: just kind of goes from there.
- 14:40Speaker 2: Are they attacked by a Russian man-bear hybrid?
- 14:43Speaker 12: Let's hope.
- 14:43Speaker 2: Because I need that in everything.
- 14:46Speaker 4: In every movie now. I wish.
- 14:47Speaker 9: No. But, yeah, so it's very, like, sometimes you think
- 14:51Speaker 9: the kids are jerks, sometimes you think she's a jerk.
- 14:54Speaker 4: There's a lot of jerks in this movie.
- 14:55Speaker 9: It's complex and creepy and slow-burning. There's kind of, like,
- 15:00Speaker 9: a dollhouse theme going on, which is very Hereditary-esque.
- 15:04Speaker 4: Yeah, those were the ones.
- 15:05Speaker 9: But I think it was filmed before Hereditary came out. Hmm.
- 15:09Speaker 9: So it wasn't copying it, because that's what I thought
- 15:11Speaker 9: at first. I was like, it's a dollhouse, but apparently
- 15:14Speaker 9: that was kind of their own original idea.
- 15:16Speaker 4: Hers were very impressive dollhouses.
- 15:18Speaker 9: Yeah, and this is like the kids, and it works
- 15:20Speaker 9: very well once you get to the whole climax. It's rough.
- 15:26Speaker 9: It's a rough one.
- 15:26Speaker 3: Sweet.
- 15:27Speaker 9: But it was good. It was on Hulu, I think. Okay, cool.
- 15:30Speaker 4: Nice.
- 15:31Speaker 9: That was pretty good.
- 15:32Speaker 2: This was The Lodge?
- 15:33Speaker 9: The Lodge, yes. And the girlfriend is Riley... I don't
- 15:40Speaker 9: know how to say her last name, but she's Elvis' granddaughter.
- 15:42Speaker 3: Oh, wow.
- 15:43Speaker 9: She does a really good job.
- 15:44Speaker 4: Interesting.
- 15:45Speaker 9: And the kid who plays Bill in It Chapter One
- 15:49Speaker 9: is the son. So all these kids from It are
- 15:51Speaker 9: just embracing the creepy movies.
- 15:54Speaker 6: It or Stranger Things, or sometimes both, those are where
- 15:57Speaker 6: our entire crop of children are coming from for every
- 15:59Speaker 6: feature from here on out.
- 16:01Speaker 9: He did a good job, too. It's pretty good.
- 16:05Speaker 2: Not a horror movie on the surface, but I took
- 16:07Speaker 2: a day... to watch the entire Back to the Future trilogy.
- 16:12Speaker 4: Back to back to back.
- 16:13Speaker 2: And if you've never done that, I highly recommend it
- 16:16Speaker 2: because you get this new sense of what Marty's been
- 16:20Speaker 2: going through because the whole thing only takes, it takes
- 16:23Speaker 2: like two weeks for Marty.
- 16:25Speaker 4: And most of that's in the third part because he's stuck.
- 16:28Speaker 9: Right.
- 16:28Speaker 4: So everything else is in the span of about a day, basically.
- 16:31Speaker 2: Well, part one takes a week.
- 16:32Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 16:33Speaker 2: Part two is about probably eight or nine hours.
- 16:36Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 16:37Speaker 2: Part three is about a week. I don't remember the
- 16:39Speaker 2: exact time, but when it's all done with, you're like,
- 16:43Speaker 2: this guy's life is ruined. He's never going to be
- 16:47Speaker 2: able to trust anything. He's going to second guess every
- 16:50Speaker 2: decision he ever makes.
- 16:52Speaker 4: He's got to have some questions about his girlfriend because
- 16:55Speaker 4: she looks totally different.
- 16:55Speaker 2: Totally different. Totally different.
- 16:58Speaker 6: Like a whole different actress showed up and played her.
- 17:01Speaker 6: I'd prefer having Elizabeth Shue hanging around.
- 17:03Speaker 4: Me anyway, truthfully, but.
- 17:06Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't think in one sitting in my own home.
- 17:12Speaker 6: But I've seen all of them so much that I'm like,
- 17:15Speaker 6: that's one of those I don't really revisit because I
- 17:18Speaker 6: almost know them beat for beat.
- 17:20Speaker 2: Well, I thought so too. And then it popped up
- 17:23Speaker 2: on Netflix and I was like, hell yes, I'll watch
- 17:25Speaker 2: Back to the Future. And as soon as it was over,
- 17:27Speaker 2: it was like, would you like to watch part two?
- 17:29Speaker 2: And I'm like, yes, I would. I didn't plan this.
- 17:32Speaker 2: I just, I had a full day at home alone
- 17:35Speaker 2: and that's always trouble.
- 17:37Speaker 12: Obvious.
- 17:39Speaker 4: But this kept you out of other types of trouble.
- 17:42Speaker 12: For a while.
- 17:42Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 17:45Speaker 6: Yeah. I mean, I still, that first one, like, I
- 17:49Speaker 6: know like super artsy people want to talk bad about
- 17:52Speaker 6: it because it's a mainstream movie, but I'm like, pacing
- 17:55Speaker 6: wise like structure wise that thing is perfect like it's
- 17:58Speaker 6: just so well orchestrated and then the fact that again
- 18:03Speaker 6: i'm a sucker for time travel movies anyway but the
- 18:07Speaker 6: weird little spot that two falls into is so weird
- 18:12Speaker 6: and again the fact that they got a studio to
- 18:14Speaker 6: make this movie because it's massively darker it loops back
- 18:18Speaker 6: into its own last movie like there's so many aspects
- 18:21Speaker 6: that It shouldn't have happened the way it did, but
- 18:23Speaker 6: they just were riding that last one. And I guess
- 18:26Speaker 6: nobody told them no.
- 18:27Speaker 4: So that second one is a crazy and I still
- 18:30Speaker 4: think kind of amazing movie. And then you just get
- 18:33Speaker 4: a Western to round things out. So it's all good. Yeah,
- 18:37Speaker 4: I love the whole trilogy.
- 18:38Speaker 6: But yeah, it's one I don't sit down to rewatch
- 18:43Speaker 6: because I feel like it's already in my head at
- 18:45Speaker 6: this point.
- 18:47Speaker 3: That just reminded me. So I recently watched, I've never
- 18:53Speaker 3: seen Split or Glass. And so I was like, okay,
- 18:56Speaker 3: so I need to watch these movies now. And so
- 18:59Speaker 3: I watched Unbreakable first, just to get a little refresher. Um,
- 19:03Speaker 3: and then I watched split and I was like split. Okay,
- 19:07Speaker 3: this is pretty good.
- 19:08Speaker 4: And then I started watching glass.
- 19:10Speaker 7: I was like, what is this dumpster fire? Why did
- 19:13Speaker 7: you set me up for failure?
- 19:15Speaker 2: So you say that, but have you ever actually seen
- 19:17Speaker 2: a dumpster on fire?
- 19:20Speaker 6: It's called 2020.
- 19:25Speaker 2: It was one of the best afternoons of my life.
- 19:29Speaker 2: Oh man.
- 19:30Speaker 6: There's a, I mean, it's, it's, Frustrating anyway, because they're
- 19:34Speaker 6: all such different, like, especially like Unbreakable, especially for that
- 19:38Speaker 6: time was like so different than even he was doing as.
- 19:42Speaker 4: A director, but any other movie way ahead of the
- 19:45Speaker 4: superhero curve, like it was just like such a weird
- 19:48Speaker 4: different thing.
- 19:49Speaker 12: Splendid.
- 19:50Speaker 6: Is just like creepy and weird and kind of doing
- 19:53Speaker 6: its own totally different thing. And then he decided to
- 19:55Speaker 6: connect the universes and then you get glass, which big again,
- 20:01Speaker 6: maybe jumps into the most traditional way of dealing with
- 20:04Speaker 6: that story. And also like had potential.
- 20:07Speaker 4: I know I, Real reviewers will tell you not to
- 20:10Speaker 4: do this. Screw this. This is the way I do
- 20:12Speaker 4: all of them.
- 20:13Speaker 6: I'm like, if you've got potential to do a much better,
- 20:15Speaker 6: or if I come up with a better way to
- 20:17Speaker 6: do this story, that's your fault for not writing it
- 20:19Speaker 6: that way. There's a way to end that movie that
- 20:21Speaker 6: would have been awesome and would have made up for
- 20:24Speaker 6: any other shortcomings because it still has some issues throughout.
- 20:27Speaker 6: But I'm like, if you finish this the way you're
- 20:29Speaker 6: kind of leading to... It'll be worth everything we've invested
- 20:33Speaker 6: and I want a whole nother movie out of it.
- 20:35Speaker 6: And then they drop the ball and none.
- 20:37Speaker 4: Of that happens. And I'm just like, what the fuck
- 20:40Speaker 4: are we watching this for?
- 20:41Speaker 6: Like, yeah, it like had a lot of potential there.
- 20:45Speaker 6: And especially dealing with all these really cool characters from
- 20:49Speaker 6: 20 some years of making movies, which was only two,
- 20:51Speaker 6: but still like it could have built it into.
- 20:55Speaker 4: This really cool thing. And it just kind of fumbles things.
- 20:58Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 21:00Speaker 10: Yep.
- 21:00Speaker 5: Way to take, Samuel L. and just, why would you
- 21:04Speaker 5: give him that role?
- 21:05Speaker 3: Do you think he's just going to carry your whole
- 21:07Speaker 3: ass movie?
- 21:09Speaker 4: I mean, he does with a lot of them, actually.
- 21:13Speaker 4: That's kind of his job now.
- 21:14Speaker 6: We're like, we don't really have a script so much,
- 21:17Speaker 6: but we're just casting you, and you're.
- 21:19Speaker 4: Going to round that out, right?
- 21:20Speaker 6: You're just going to say a lot of things and
- 21:22Speaker 6: throw some motherfuckers in there, and it's all.
- 21:24Speaker 4: Good, right?
- 21:25Speaker 5: I really like Split.
- 21:27Speaker 2: I actually haven't seen any of it.
- 21:29Speaker 4: And I think he's... I've heard they're good. He's good
- 21:32Speaker 4: as that character in Unbreakable, too.
- 21:34Speaker 6: Because it's so minimal that you can see potential there,
- 21:38Speaker 6: but we don't.
- 21:39Speaker 4: Hit you over the head with it. Where this one
- 21:40Speaker 4: is just too much. Too over the top.
- 21:46Speaker 3: Nick, my partner, came in while I was watching.
- 21:51Speaker 5: I guess it might have been Glass.
- 21:53Speaker 4: I don't remember.
- 21:53Speaker 3: But.
- 21:55Speaker 5: Or maybe it doesn't matter.
- 21:56Speaker 9: It doesn't matter.
- 21:56Speaker 3: But since then, every once in a while, he just
- 21:59Speaker 3: comes up from behind and just starts hugging me and
- 22:01Speaker 3: squeezing me really hard like he's going to break my body.
- 22:05Speaker 5: That's fun.
- 22:06Speaker 4: That's a fun thing. I mean, if we can all
- 22:08Speaker 4: do that, can he do that with me?
- 22:11Speaker 5: You need some contact? You need some hugs?
- 22:12Speaker 6: I mean, it's been a long time, and Nick's dreamy, so,
- 22:15Speaker 6: you know, I'm not going to argue with it.
- 22:18Speaker 4: I just want a bear hug. Maybe from a giant
- 22:20Speaker 4: bear man with the hats and shit.
- 22:22Speaker 5: Definitely a hug.
- 22:23Speaker 9: From a bear.
- 22:26Speaker 4: I lost her again.
- 22:29Speaker 6: The takeaway from those last two movies, but especially Split,
- 22:32Speaker 6: McAvoy is so damn good in this. He's just, again,
- 22:38Speaker 6: that is one of those that you give it to
- 22:40Speaker 6: the right actor, they can run with it. if you
- 22:42Speaker 6: cast that wrong, that movie is going to be a
- 22:45Speaker 6: train wreck. And like he, because even then, like it
- 22:48Speaker 6: could go wrong, but it ends up being like a
- 22:51Speaker 6: really creepy story anyway.
- 22:53Speaker 4: And then his performance is just like amazing. So yeah,
- 22:57Speaker 4: that's the reason to watch Split.
- 22:58Speaker 7: Truly.
- 22:59Speaker 6: And then again, just doesn't do, what comes together is
- 23:03Speaker 6: like stuff we've already seen from him.
- 23:05Speaker 4: So it's like, You're not really treading any new ground.
- 23:08Speaker 4: Samuel L. Jackson's running all over the place. It's a
- 23:11Speaker 4: weird mixture. And Bruce Willis just, like most of his
- 23:15Speaker 4: roles now, is like, do I have to do this?
- 23:18Speaker 4: That's half of his movies now. You can see it
- 23:20Speaker 4: on his face. He doesn't even pretend anymore. He's just like,
- 23:23Speaker 4: how much are you giving me?
- 23:25Speaker 3: Alright, fine.
- 23:26Speaker 4: I'll fucking show up.
- 23:27Speaker 6: He just seems so unenthused about most movies these days.
- 23:32Speaker 6: Which is a shame, because he can be a great actor,
- 23:35Speaker 6: but Not so much in a lot of things these days.
- 23:39Speaker 5: Yeah, I wasn't sure with Split.
- 23:41Speaker 11: I just thought it was going to be kind of
- 23:43Speaker 11: like a run-of-the-mill psychological thriller. And I don't really know
- 23:49Speaker 11: a lot else about what James McAvoy had been in
- 23:51Speaker 11: besides X-Men at that point. And so I was not
- 23:54Speaker 11: expecting that kind of performance.
- 23:56Speaker 5: I was very impressed.
- 23:58Speaker 4: He's impressive.
- 24:00Speaker 6: And I've seen him in other stuff that he's good in,
- 24:01Speaker 6: but that's like, an extra level there.
- 24:04Speaker 4: He's pretty impressive.
- 24:07Speaker 9: Speaking of James McAvoy, I watched IT Chapter 2. I
- 24:13Speaker 9: was so disappointed.
- 24:15Speaker 6: So do we need to put together for our Stephen
- 24:19Speaker 6: King series? Do we want a 1 and 2 giant ongoing?
- 24:23Speaker 9: I guess we could. Oh, but then I have to
- 24:25Speaker 9: watch it again.
- 24:26Speaker 2: Think about that. I guess I haven't seen either of them.
- 24:31Speaker 9: I liked the first one with the kids.
- 24:33Speaker 2: The problem is I want to watch the first one,
- 24:36Speaker 2: but I'm hesitant because I'll be like, well, now I've
- 24:39Speaker 2: got to see part two.
- 24:40Speaker 9: I know.
- 24:40Speaker 2: And everybody's like, man, part two just sucks.
- 24:43Speaker 4: And that's why I went and saw it when it
- 24:44Speaker 4: came out. And I was just like, well, I saw
- 24:46Speaker 4: the first one. And then I saw it and I went.
- 24:48Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 24:49Speaker 6: There's moments that are effective, but it's like, if I'm
- 24:52Speaker 6: ever going to watch one of these again, I'm definitely
- 24:54Speaker 6: watching the first one.
- 24:55Speaker 4: So why do I need this?
- 24:56Speaker 3: There's a curse on that story. There's a curse on
- 24:59Speaker 3: it that it cannot... Once it gets past a certain point,
- 25:02Speaker 3: it's going to be amazing, and then you're going to
- 25:03Speaker 3: get to the point where it does the light, and
- 25:07Speaker 3: then it's.
- 25:07Speaker 2: Going to suck.
- 25:09Speaker 9: Even in the book, really. Reading the end of the.
- 25:12Speaker 4: Book, I was like, oh my god. Just stop writing words,
- 25:16Speaker 4: Stephen King.
- 25:16Speaker 2: I think I had like 400 pages left, and I
- 25:18Speaker 2: was like, when is.
- 25:19Speaker 4: This going to stop? Just be a spider and get
- 25:22Speaker 4: it over with.
- 25:25Speaker 9: And at that point, you're like, I've already read this forever.
- 25:28Speaker 9: You can't just stop.
- 25:29Speaker 4: This is why I didn't start the book.
- 25:31Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 25:32Speaker 4: I watched the miniseries. I'm fine. Overall, it's still a
- 25:35Speaker 4: good book.
- 25:35Speaker 9: But yeah, the ending left a lot to be desired.
- 25:39Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 25:39Speaker 9: At the end of the movie.
- 25:40Speaker 4: Yeah. Well, to bounce around to totally different types of things,
- 25:46Speaker 4: I also went back.
- 25:49Speaker 4: I knew of the movie. I'd watched it, or I
- 25:52Speaker 4: knew of it because I'd watched the sequel a million
- 25:54Speaker 4: years ago. So even the sequel was massively old by now.
- 25:58Speaker 4: I watched The Hustler. Oh, nice.
- 26:02Speaker 6: 1961, The Hustler, which the, as a, you know, growing up,
- 26:05Speaker 6: I knew when Color of Money came out, it was
- 26:09Speaker 6: somewhat of a sequel. Again, it's like many years later
- 26:12Speaker 6: and only follows one of the characters, but technically.
- 26:15Speaker 4: Still kind of a sequel to The Hustler. but I'd
- 26:17Speaker 4: never actually watched that one.
- 26:19Speaker 6: And I knew that was one of those that like,
- 26:21Speaker 6: I knew Jackie Gleason was in it and I've seen
- 26:23Speaker 6: him in very fit, especially I saw him in like
- 26:25Speaker 6: some of the comedies when he got older, but I
- 26:27Speaker 6: don't remember him as much other than.
- 26:29Speaker 4: The TV show.
- 26:30Speaker 6: So yeah, like I was like, this will be kind
- 26:32Speaker 6: of interesting to see him, you know, when he was younger,
- 26:34Speaker 6: do something else. And then, you know, when are you
- 26:36Speaker 6: not going to want to watch Paul Newman?
- 26:39Speaker 2: So was Jackie Gleason in the sting or at least
- 26:43Speaker 2: one of the sting movies?
- 26:45Speaker 6: I mean, it's Robert Redford and Paul Newman, so that's
- 26:48Speaker 6: kind of the main, but I don't know.
- 26:49Speaker 4: If he had a smaller role. I'm not going to
- 26:53Speaker 4: argue with you.
- 26:54Speaker 2: No, they were definitely dreamy.
- 26:56Speaker 6: But yeah, so I was like, well, let's see how
- 26:59Speaker 6: this one goes.
- 27:02Speaker 4: It's really good. Like, as a story. Have you seen it?
- 27:06Speaker 2: Years ago. I mean, I'm talking like when I was
- 27:08Speaker 2: probably 15 or 16.
- 27:10Speaker 4: Here's the thing I wasn't expecting.
- 27:13Speaker 6: Horribly depressing like it really as as a story like
- 27:19Speaker 6: it's not like the the acting's great and the directing's
- 27:21Speaker 6: great and like everything else but like basically the the
- 27:25Speaker 6: entire centerpiece of this story and the characters involved is
- 27:31Speaker 6: you're a loser yeah everything about your life is kind
- 27:36Speaker 6: of a waste and why are you even here and
- 27:38Speaker 6: like it really like it sits with that most of
- 27:42Speaker 6: the movie like not just not just him because at
- 27:46Speaker 6: least his character is really like super talented so he
- 27:50Speaker 6: has this one skill and like if he finds the
- 27:53Speaker 6: right way to use it he can make money off
- 27:55Speaker 6: of it you know there's some sort of hope that
- 27:56Speaker 6: like he can have a future with it but then.
- 28:00Speaker 4: Um he meets i mean he meets this girl that
- 28:03Speaker 4: like she so has nothing to do.
- 28:05Speaker 6: With her life that there's a diner in like the
- 28:09Speaker 6: bus station that stays open all night and that's where
- 28:12Speaker 6: she goes because she has nothing else to do and
- 28:14Speaker 6: it's the only thing open this is the like levels
- 28:18Speaker 6: of the wonderful life that this girl has and like
- 28:23Speaker 6: they really like went out of their way to like
- 28:26Speaker 6: not gloss over again i think the scarier thing is
- 28:30Speaker 6: her story because she it's also piper laurie which i
- 28:34Speaker 6: you barely kind of recognize i know her like as
- 28:37Speaker 6: the older like twin peaks era piper laurie or or
- 28:40Speaker 6: even like um carrie but like yeah she's she's but
- 28:44Speaker 6: it was one of those it's not when she's super
- 28:46Speaker 6: super young they also lay into that too that she
- 28:49Speaker 6: is not like like most normal movies the guy would
- 28:52Speaker 6: be like 40 and they'd cast a 19 year old
- 28:55Speaker 6: she's easily like in her 30s and has she lives
- 28:59Speaker 6: in a crappy apartment Has nothing. Is kind of taking
- 29:03Speaker 6: like a class or something.
- 29:04Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 29:05Speaker 6: Just like has nothing to do with her life. And
- 29:08Speaker 6: that weighs on her so much. Like she's all these
- 29:11Speaker 6: failed relationships, all these plans of things she was going
- 29:14Speaker 6: to do and nothing's panned out.
- 29:16Speaker 4: And like so much of it revolves around how horrible
- 29:20Speaker 4: she feels like her life is and her place is.
- 29:22Speaker 4: And then he comes along and like is easily as
- 29:25Speaker 4: much of a screw up.
- 29:26Speaker 6: And like in the first half, just like kind of
- 29:29Speaker 6: gets the wind knocked out of him, like from his
- 29:32Speaker 6: like talent and then just settles in with her. And
- 29:35Speaker 6: like this middle part of the movie is just the
- 29:36Speaker 6: two of them wallowing. It's way more depressing than I planned.
- 29:41Speaker 2: It's kind of like Rocky, only a lot darker.
- 29:44Speaker 4: More grim, yeah.
- 29:46Speaker 2: Because with Rocky, when those two come together, you kind
- 29:49Speaker 2: of have hope for him.
- 29:50Speaker 4: And they improve each other's situation.
- 29:52Speaker 6: They're both kind of at the bottom, and together they
- 29:55Speaker 6: can build something and grow it.
- 29:57Speaker 4: They're taking each other down a notch.
- 29:59Speaker 6: What little hope they individually had is gone because they
- 30:04Speaker 6: just sort of drag each other back into the muck
- 30:06Speaker 6: once again.
- 30:08Speaker 5: I don't think I'm emotionally prepared to watch it.
- 30:10Speaker 4: I was like, I want to see a pool movie.
- 30:12Speaker 2: This will be fun. Yeah, that's what I thought.
- 30:15Speaker 4: Yep, not what I was expecting.
- 30:17Speaker 2: Because I had gone the other way, too. I saw
- 30:18Speaker 2: Color of Money and thought, oh, let's see what this
- 30:21Speaker 2: guy was up to before.
- 30:22Speaker 9: Oh, dear God.
- 30:23Speaker 4: Oh, Lord.
- 30:24Speaker 6: The other thing I didn't know about it, because I
- 30:26Speaker 6: have a handful of movies that I know have some
- 30:29Speaker 6: sort of weird tie-in to Louisville.
- 30:32Speaker 4: Third of this movie takes place in Louisville. Really?
- 30:35Speaker 6: And again, of all the other ones I hear about
- 30:38Speaker 6: over the years, now granted, they didn't shoot a damn
- 30:40Speaker 6: thing here.
- 30:41Speaker 4: It's all shot on a.
- 30:42Speaker 6: Set somewhere, probably in LA or New York or whatever,
- 30:45Speaker 6: but the story takes a turn where he's going to
- 30:49Speaker 6: tour and go make money, and he's got this rich
- 30:53Speaker 6: guy set up in this town, which happens to be Louisville,
- 30:57Speaker 6: and he comes here during the derby when all the
- 31:00Speaker 6: money's sitting here. So that they can go to this
- 31:02Speaker 6: guy's basement and do some sort of underhanded pool game
- 31:06Speaker 6: on the side.
- 31:07Speaker 4: And yeah, a good portion of the story.
- 31:10Speaker 6: sits right there in that spot so yeah i had
- 31:13Speaker 6: no idea don't remember that somehow.
- 31:15Speaker 3: Yeah sense that if you have like this depressing life
- 31:17Speaker 3: and you think you're gonna make it and go on
- 31:19Speaker 3: tour the tour's gonna go to louisville.
- 31:22Speaker 4: Somehow that's what i thought was weird like of all
- 31:25Speaker 4: the places like midway in he's like well we got
- 31:28Speaker 4: this uh plan for you and i'm like wait you're
- 31:30Speaker 4: going to.
- 31:32Speaker 6: So that tells you you've hit bottom when you come
- 31:35Speaker 6: to louisville there's nowhere.
- 31:37Speaker 4: To go but up if you survive. So there's the
- 31:43Speaker 4: joyful movie, Iowa. I'm glad I saw it. It's great. Again, acting, directing,
- 31:48Speaker 4: it's all really good.
- 31:50Speaker 6: Jackie Cleason is pretty damn cool when he was younger. I, again,
- 31:53Speaker 6: I hadn't seen him not doing slapsticky, so he's got
- 31:56Speaker 6: a lot of weight, no pun intended.
- 31:58Speaker 4: He wasn't really that big then, but like, he's definitely like,
- 32:01Speaker 4: he's the heavy character there and like, he's, he's good
- 32:04Speaker 4: at it. So.
- 32:06Speaker 6: Oh, the other one, I don't think I even knew
- 32:09Speaker 6: George C.
- 32:09Speaker 4: Scott was in it. He is like, I am never
- 32:14Speaker 4: not impressed by George C. Scott.
- 32:15Speaker 6: As much as you feel like you know he's only
- 32:18Speaker 6: got that one note and he's going to hit it
- 32:19Speaker 6: every time, you find some other movies that he's done
- 32:23Speaker 6: over the years and he is not just weird range,
- 32:27Speaker 6: but also just, again, if anybody's the more depressing character,
- 32:32Speaker 6: George C. Scott is just mean and vicious and like
- 32:36Speaker 6: takes advantage of anyone and everyone and it's again just
- 32:40Speaker 6: what a grim story and great performances all around though
- 32:44Speaker 6: so the hustler go watch.
- 32:45Speaker 2: It we started watching the mentalist um older tv show
- 32:52Speaker 2: but i put that off for years because i thought
- 32:55Speaker 2: when it when they started running promos for it it
- 32:59Speaker 2: looked like a ripoff of psych Which I enjoyed a
- 33:03Speaker 2: lot at the time, but it's really not.
- 33:05Speaker 4: It's one of all of those. Like, there was this
- 33:08Speaker 4: series of shows.
- 33:08Speaker 6: It was almost like they had a plan drawn out of, like,
- 33:13Speaker 6: how to make a network TV show. And it was like,
- 33:16Speaker 6: you've got somebody that's a cop or a detective, and
- 33:18Speaker 6: then you throw in somebody else that does something that's
- 33:21Speaker 6: not really that, but they're going to use them, and
- 33:23Speaker 6: they're going to be kind of like partners.
- 33:25Speaker 4: Right. Because, I mean, I'm watching, and it's like, tell
- 33:27Speaker 4: me Psyche is any different in structure to.
- 33:33Speaker 4: What the hell is the one Nathan Fillion was on? Oh, Castle. Castle.
- 33:36Speaker 2: Yeah, same thing.
- 33:37Speaker 6: Totally different guy, totally different skill set, but they're doing
- 33:41Speaker 6: exactly the same show, essentially.
- 33:43Speaker 2: Here's a person who's not a cop, but he's working
- 33:45Speaker 2: with the cops, but somehow he's better at his job
- 33:49Speaker 2: than the cops who've been trained how to be cops.
- 33:52Speaker 6: And there was a couple more that did that same
- 33:54Speaker 6: thing that played that little dynamic of like.
- 33:58Speaker 4: Because there's a new one that just started that's kind
- 34:01Speaker 4: of that same idea again.
- 34:03Speaker 6: So yeah, what was your, what little I'd seen, it
- 34:06Speaker 6: was one of those I never sought it out, but
- 34:09Speaker 6: it was like one of those nights that there wasn't
- 34:11Speaker 6: anything else on opposite it, so I would end up
- 34:13Speaker 6: with it on, and again, performance wise, like he's really
- 34:17Speaker 6: good at creating that character.
- 34:20Speaker 2: He's good, but the supporting cast is what I, and
- 34:24Speaker 2: of course you put Robin Tunney in anything, and Tooney,
- 34:27Speaker 2: however you say your last name, and.
- 34:29Speaker 4: And that was sort of a weird little comeback, because
- 34:31Speaker 4: I hadn't seen her in anything until that show popped up.
- 34:33Speaker 4: And I'm like, oh, she's still out there. So I
- 34:35Speaker 4: think she got a nice run out of that, too.
- 34:37Speaker 2: But yeah, the supporting cast is really what makes the show.
- 34:41Speaker 6: It is a weird dynamic, though. That just became the
- 34:44Speaker 6: go-to for most network cop shows. But we're not going
- 34:48Speaker 6: to do a traditional cop show, so we've got to
- 34:49Speaker 6: shove somebody else in there.
- 34:52Speaker 9: If we're on TV shows, I watch season two of
- 34:54Speaker 9: Castle Rock.
- 34:55Speaker 4: Oh, okay.
- 34:57Speaker 9: It was really, really, really, really, really, really good. Season
- 35:01Speaker 9: one I liked, but a lot of people didn't, and
- 35:03Speaker 9: I kind of get why. It was kind of slow
- 35:05Speaker 9: and hard to understand at some points, but this one
- 35:08Speaker 9: I finished in two days.
- 35:09Speaker 2: Oh, wow.
- 35:10Speaker 9: Just pushed everything else away and stayed up until 1 a.m.
- 35:12Speaker 4: Because I was like, I can't stop. It's so good.
- 35:15Speaker 4: That one's the Tim Robbins one.
- 35:17Speaker 9: Tim Robbins is in it. Lizzie Kaplan plays young Annie Wilkes.
- 35:20Speaker 9: It's kind of like her, like, origin story of how she, oh, God,
- 35:24Speaker 9: and she's so good. And, like, her story is so, like,
- 35:27Speaker 9: heartbreaking and intense. And it's just like, God. I get the.
- 35:32Speaker 4: Feeling everything will turn out for that character.
- 35:34Speaker 9: Okay.
- 35:35Speaker 4: Why'd you worry? In the last episode, I was like, uh-uh.
- 35:39Speaker 9: Just, like, sat there, like, okay. But then, so there's, like,
- 35:43Speaker 9: her subplot. And then the other one is Tim Robbins
- 35:48Speaker 9: and like he has these adopted kids. Two are like
- 35:51Speaker 9: his nephews and then two are these Ethiopian kids that
- 35:53Speaker 9: he ended up adopting like in the 90s. So the
- 35:57Speaker 9: Ethiopian son is like building this mall over in Jerusalem's
- 36:03Speaker 9: lot like the next town over and so they're like
- 36:05Speaker 9: doing the construction and then come to find all the
- 36:09Speaker 9: bodies underground and then that becomes like a whole thing
- 36:13Speaker 9: with the Undead people. It was really good. It's very creepy.
- 36:18Speaker 4: Interesting.
- 36:18Speaker 9: But Lizzie Kaplan's storyline was the best, definitely. She's just
- 36:23Speaker 9: so good.
- 36:25Speaker 6: So does it work as its own little sub-universe of
- 36:29Speaker 6: his people, or is it just you've latched onto a
- 36:32Speaker 6: couple of good characters so far?
- 36:34Speaker 9: I think she was the only one that was actually
- 36:38Speaker 9: from one of his characters.
- 36:41Speaker 6: But I mean, does it hold up in the bigger
- 36:44Speaker 6: like world that it's creating enough that you think you
- 36:47Speaker 6: see more seasons coming with potential?
- 36:49Speaker 9: Yes, definitely. I thought this one was much better than
- 36:53Speaker 9: the first one. There is like one tiny little mention
- 36:56Speaker 9: of the kid from the first season, like Bill Skarsgård' s character.
- 37:00Speaker 9: So that kind of ties in, but he's only there
- 37:02Speaker 9: for like two minutes and then.
- 37:04Speaker 4: Like goes away.
- 37:04Speaker 9: You kind of think it's going to be a bigger
- 37:06Speaker 9: thing and then it's not. So maybe they're building up
- 37:07Speaker 9: for a season three or something, but. Still pretty good.
- 37:11Speaker 9: I'd say even if you tried season one, didn't like it,
- 37:13Speaker 9: try season two.
- 37:15Speaker 2: Does anybody else watch Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt?
- 37:18Speaker 4: Yes.
- 37:19Speaker 2: Okay, good, because I'm usually the only person. Have you
- 37:22Speaker 2: seen the new movie?
- 37:23Speaker 8: No, I have not.
- 37:24Speaker 2: The Choose Your Own Adventure movie.
- 37:25Speaker 3: I'm just like, all the things that I've seen that
- 37:28Speaker 3: are like these, you know, the Parks and Rec, like
- 37:30Speaker 3: one-off thing, and like Saturday Night.
- 37:31Speaker 5: Live is trying to do online.
- 37:33Speaker 3: I just hate all the gimmicky shit that people are
- 37:35Speaker 3: trying to do right now. So I was like, I
- 37:38Speaker 3: love Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. And the ending made me boohoo
- 37:41Speaker 3: like a little baby.
- 37:42Speaker 5: So I don't want to ruin it. But if you
- 37:44Speaker 5: tell me that it's good, then.
- 37:45Speaker 2: I'll watch it. It's very good.
- 37:47Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 37:49Speaker 3: Okay.
- 37:49Speaker 2: Because like I say, it's choose your own adventure. And
- 37:52Speaker 2: I've only had the chance to sit down and watch
- 37:55Speaker 2: it the one time. But I want to go through
- 37:56Speaker 2: and explore all the different things. The nice thing about it, though,
- 38:00Speaker 2: is it's set up that it is fun, it is enjoyable.
- 38:04Speaker 2: And if you make a bad decision, once it goes
- 38:07Speaker 2: through that, it'll be like, you know what? You fucked
- 38:09Speaker 2: that up, but we're going to back this up for
- 38:12Speaker 2: you and let you go on. So from what I understand,
- 38:16Speaker 2: it's really hard to not have the happy ending of it.
- 38:21Speaker 4: And I like the way everything is now. Because it
- 38:24Speaker 4: leveled the plane.
- 38:26Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 38:26Speaker 6: And now the freaking Tonight Show has the same backward-ass
- 38:30Speaker 6: technology that we're using right now.
- 38:32Speaker 4: They're still on Zoom.
- 38:35Speaker 6: Yeah, so everybody's still got horrible quality. And so, yeah,
- 38:39Speaker 6: all your money's not going to save you now, is it?
- 38:41Speaker 3: Yeah, what I realized, I wasn't watching The Daily Show,
- 38:45Speaker 3: but I saw some kind of clip of something that
- 38:47Speaker 3: he was doing.
- 38:47Speaker 5: And I was like, you're just a bad YouTuber.
- 38:50Speaker 4: Wait, which one?
- 38:52Speaker 5: Um trevor noah the.
- 38:53Speaker 3: Daily show so i was just like the content that's
- 38:57Speaker 3: on tv it's just produced well it's not good some
- 39:02Speaker 3: youtubers doing a better job at entertaining me right now
- 39:04Speaker 3: it's a weird points around show.
- 39:06Speaker 6: Well it's a weird dynamic because you you're it's so
- 39:10Speaker 6: built around having that audience there and so that's what
- 39:12Speaker 6: yeah watching like what's now he refers to as a
- 39:16Speaker 6: late show And like, he's really good at being a host,
- 39:19Speaker 6: but it is such a weird dynamic because he's delivering
- 39:23Speaker 6: the same jokes. It's like, I guess the same writers
- 39:25Speaker 6: are still sending stuff over.
- 39:27Speaker 4: And it's weird when it just is dead silent.
- 39:30Speaker 6: And like, I don't want a cheesy laugh track, but
- 39:33Speaker 6: at the same time, like with no audience to play to,
- 39:36Speaker 6: it's like everything is like 10 times harder to even like,
- 39:40Speaker 6: because sometimes I'm like, hey, that was actually well written.
- 39:43Speaker 6: Like it still works, but it lands so weird when
- 39:47Speaker 6: nobody's there to do it.
- 39:48Speaker 5: I think Conan could do it.
- 39:49Speaker 3: I think Conan could do a good job, but you
- 39:51Speaker 3: have to have that kind of special improv talent to
- 39:55Speaker 3: make it entertaining without that feedback and the forced feedback
- 39:58Speaker 3: from the audience.
- 40:00Speaker 9: One that I think did it really well is John Oliver,
- 40:03Speaker 9: because he's just kind of in this white room, and
- 40:06Speaker 9: most of the episodes have been coronavirus, and so it
- 40:10Speaker 9: kind of adds to this eeriness that he'll just make
- 40:13Speaker 9: a joke, nothing happens, and then keep going, and you're
- 40:15Speaker 9: just kind of like, Oh, it's kind of like existential dreading.
- 40:19Speaker 9: But I think it kind of works for what he's
- 40:21Speaker 9: talking about.
- 40:22Speaker 4: I mean, I like when we because again, we're in
- 40:26Speaker 4: our own weird little show here, but we're watching other
- 40:29Speaker 4: people have to create stuff like that. The people that
- 40:32Speaker 4: just sort of lean into the I don't know, this
- 40:34Speaker 4: is what we got.
- 40:36Speaker 6: Again, I usually try to watch Colbert. I think he
- 40:39Speaker 6: is really good at doing his normal version. But him
- 40:42Speaker 6: hanging around his house because the only people there right
- 40:46Speaker 6: off camera.
- 40:46Speaker 4: Is the rest of his family.
- 40:48Speaker 6: So he's got like grown sons at least because they're
- 40:51Speaker 6: like running the camera for him. And then his wife
- 40:53Speaker 6: just comes in like a couple episodes out of the
- 40:55Speaker 6: week like just to do, again, like somebody to help
- 40:59Speaker 6: do a bit.
- 40:59Speaker 4: And it's like it's so funny watching them together because
- 41:02Speaker 4: you really like, the real world chemistry is there and
- 41:06Speaker 4: watching him going.
- 41:06Speaker 6: Oh yeah i gotta do this dumb show like it's still.
- 41:10Speaker 4: Like moments of like this seems real and then oh
- 41:12Speaker 4: yeah i'm.
- 41:13Speaker 6: Supposed to set up this next thing all right whatever
- 41:15Speaker 6: so it's weird watching people force themselves into show mode
- 41:20Speaker 6: from their house like it's very strange but you know
- 41:25Speaker 6: sometimes that's what you have to do yeah.
- 41:30Speaker 4: Well, if nothing else, I watched Haywire.
- 41:35Speaker 9: What's that?
- 41:37Speaker 6: This is one I'd heard about. And what pushed it
- 41:41Speaker 6: over the edge is.
- 41:42Speaker 4: Again, everyone in the free world loves The Mandalorian. And
- 41:45Speaker 4: I watched it and went, I know her. She's like
- 41:50Speaker 4: a legit, she'll kick people's ass.
- 41:52Speaker 6: It's Gina Carano is one of the kind of main
- 41:55Speaker 6: recurring characters on Mandalorian.
- 41:59Speaker 4: And I remembered, I was like, isn't she the one?
- 42:01Speaker 2: Is that the warrior chick from?
- 42:02Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 42:02Speaker 2: That's probably my favorite character on the show.
- 42:05Speaker 4: And she's awesome on there.
- 42:06Speaker 6: So I was like, I thought at some point they
- 42:09Speaker 6: were trying to line her up to be an action star.
- 42:12Speaker 6: So this was kind of, I think, the first movie
- 42:15Speaker 6: that they kind of.
- 42:15Speaker 4: Gave to her. And we're like, all right, we're going
- 42:17Speaker 4: to pull you out. The script is like the downfall.
- 42:21Speaker 6: It's so generic as a sort of, espionage backstabbing government
- 42:29Speaker 6: agents blah blah whatever like the plot itself is the
- 42:32Speaker 6: most generic thing ever but it's funny like that being
- 42:36Speaker 6: the first real acting i think she'd done it's already
- 42:39Speaker 6: there it's already this like charisma that you're just like
- 42:43Speaker 6: yeah that yeah like this girl is legit so when
- 42:46Speaker 6: she comes in and like there's moments that seem clunky
- 42:49Speaker 6: within the story But at any given moment, you're like, no,
- 42:53Speaker 6: she could kick that guy's ass. She is an MMA fighter.
- 42:57Speaker 6: She has spent the majority.
- 42:58Speaker 4: Of her upbringing just beating people's ass.
- 43:01Speaker 6: So when she comes on screen, it is such a
- 43:04Speaker 6: presence that you do not question. And I think that's
- 43:08Speaker 6: why it works so well in The Mandalorian. Yeah, she's
- 43:10Speaker 6: a soldier from day one. And she will kick ass
- 43:13Speaker 6: when need be. So that just has such.
- 43:15Speaker 4: A better screenplay to it. Yeah, this one... It's all
- 43:20Speaker 4: just for watching that presence, which is weird because if
- 43:24Speaker 4: I remember, this is a Soderbergh movie.
- 43:29Speaker 6: You know, he does his weird back and forth. One
- 43:31Speaker 6: super artsy and one just sort of mainstream Ocean's Eleven fun.
- 43:36Speaker 6: This was one of those that like Steven Soderbergh is
- 43:39Speaker 6: going to make an action movie with an MMA fighter.
- 43:44Speaker 4: Doesn't that seem like a weird combination?
- 43:46Speaker 2: A little bit.
- 43:47Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 43:48Speaker 4: And like, that's how it plays too. It's just like,
- 43:51Speaker 4: this is strange. And again, had like a legit cast.
- 43:56Speaker 6: Cause I think like there's a minor Channing Tatum, but
- 43:59Speaker 6: Ewan McGregor is kind of like one of the main
- 44:02Speaker 6: other characters in it and is a pretty solid performance.
- 44:05Speaker 4: But yeah, it's just such a basic generic plot. It's
- 44:11Speaker 4: just kind of whatever. But, Yep, just for her performance.
- 44:15Speaker 2: Yeah, the description on IMDb does not sound.
- 44:18Speaker 4: It's just generic.
- 44:19Speaker 2: I mean, it doesn't sound bad.
- 44:19Speaker 4: Yeah, it's not bad.
- 44:21Speaker 6: It's just a generic secret agent.
- 44:22Speaker 2: But it's like, oh, I feel like I've seen this before.
- 44:24Speaker 4: Government espionage plot. Yeah, it's super generic, but yep, present.
- 44:29Speaker 4: It's all present.
- 44:30Speaker 2: Ooh, Antonio Banderas.
- 44:32Speaker 12: That's a thing.
- 44:32Speaker 8: Look at that.
- 44:32Speaker 4: Michael Douglas. And Michael Douglas.
- 44:34Speaker 2: Bill Paxton.
- 44:35Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 44:36Speaker 6: It's like everybody in it's turning in decent performances, but
- 44:39Speaker 6: it just needs.
- 44:40Speaker 4: More on the screenplay, but... yeah wow gina she's pretty
- 44:45Speaker 4: awesome yeah i'm trying to.
- 44:47Speaker 2: Think i'm sure there's something i've watched oh i've finally
- 44:49Speaker 2: watched uh wreck it ralph which was cute yeah you.
- 44:54Speaker 13: Know nothing spectacular but it was fun for an hour
- 44:58Speaker 13: and a half and it's another one of those situations
- 45:01Speaker 13: that will probably never happen again it's one of those
- 45:05Speaker 13: like uh roger rabbit yeah.
- 45:08Speaker 6: The companies involved, whatever game you're playing, whatever strings you
- 45:13Speaker 6: pulled to put all of the, like, you know, Roger Rabbit, like,
- 45:16Speaker 6: Disney and Warner Brothers are together in the same movie. Like,
- 45:20Speaker 6: that's impossible, would have never happened. Somehow, some miracle happened.
- 45:25Speaker 6: But then we'll never get that again, probably. Unless Disney
- 45:28Speaker 6: just buys all of the properties, then they'll do whatever
- 45:30Speaker 6: they want. But same thing with, like, now the video
- 45:33Speaker 6: game world. Like, gamers, like, that's all such different things.
- 45:37Speaker 6: And they pulled from whatever they wanted and all put it.
- 45:40Speaker 4: In this one story.
- 45:41Speaker 6: And so, yeah, if you're a video game person, this
- 45:44Speaker 6: is kind of that same greatest hits of everything that's
- 45:48Speaker 6: ever happened in video games and a plot to go
- 45:51Speaker 6: on with it.
- 45:51Speaker 2: I did watch a kind of interesting documentary on Netflix
- 45:56Speaker 2: the other night called Have a Good Trip. And it's
- 46:00Speaker 2: all famous people talking about their experiences with, uh, psychedelic drugs.
- 46:05Speaker 4: Interesting.
- 46:07Speaker 2: It is kind of interesting.
- 46:08Speaker 7: I saw that.
- 46:09Speaker 3: And I was like, but my immediate thought was like,
- 46:11Speaker 3: of course it's like a bunch of rich people who
- 46:13Speaker 3: will never have consequences or never get arrested for doing drugs,
- 46:16Speaker 3: doing a documentary. Like you need to do mushrooms because
- 46:18Speaker 3: of this effects of psilocybin.
- 46:20Speaker 4: Like, I don't know.
- 46:22Speaker 2: I'm just, but a lot, but a lot of the
- 46:26Speaker 2: stories though were from when they were, you know, college
- 46:30Speaker 2: age and, uh, Anthony Bourdain's on there and just tells
- 46:34Speaker 2: a fucked up story about a stripper that dies and
- 46:39Speaker 2: then comes back to life on him. Yeah, his is
- 46:44Speaker 2: the one that's the most intense and even starts it
- 46:46Speaker 2: by saying, yeah, every time you do acid stuff happens
- 46:48Speaker 2: to you that never happens.
- 46:50Speaker 4: Yeah, that makes sense.
- 46:51Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 46:52Speaker 4: So this is like a plot for a whole next
- 46:53Speaker 4: movie when you just.
- 46:54Speaker 10: Start writing, right?
- 46:55Speaker 2: Pretty much.
- 46:57Speaker 4: Acid zombie strippers, I'd see that.
- 46:59Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 47:00Speaker 2: Ben Stiller is on there. A couple people that I
- 47:05Speaker 2: never would have expected, like Rosie Perez is on there
- 47:09Speaker 2: talking about dropping acid. It's worth watching. It's not great,
- 47:14Speaker 2: but it's worth watching at least once.
- 47:18Speaker 4: I guess we're rounding out our stuff we've watched. What's
- 47:22Speaker 4: our other thing?
- 47:23Speaker 6: Has anyone come to any conclusions about being stuck by
- 47:27Speaker 6: yourself that you didn't really know? Any truths you've uncovered
- 47:33Speaker 6: that you were not prepared for being stuck by yourself
- 47:35Speaker 6: for months on end?
- 47:37Speaker 9: Turns out I'm really content just being at home and
- 47:40Speaker 9: not having to pay anybody.
- 47:41Speaker 3: Well, that's the thing.
- 47:41Speaker 2: I never go anywhere.
- 47:44Speaker 6: See, I've said that every episode since we went on this.
- 47:47Speaker 6: Everybody's just like, hey, how's it going? I'm like, it's
- 47:49Speaker 6: not any different. You're like, Because I still had to
- 47:52Speaker 6: go to work. So I'm like, I still went to
- 47:53Speaker 6: work every day. I still don't interact with people if
- 47:56Speaker 6: I can help it.
- 47:57Speaker 4: And I put together the show. That's pretty much it.
- 47:59Speaker 4: Those are the three aspects of my life. So like, yeah,
- 48:03Speaker 4: nothing really changed. But.
- 48:06Speaker 3: I was expecting myself to have a much harder time
- 48:09Speaker 3: because I'm someone who like always feels like I got
- 48:11Speaker 3: to be productive. I got to go like go to
- 48:13Speaker 3: shows and like go do things and like always be
- 48:16Speaker 3: active and taking advantage of life. And so I was like,
- 48:19Speaker 3: oh my God, I'm going to be so miserable. And
- 48:20Speaker 3: I was for like a week and a half. And
- 48:22Speaker 3: then I was like, wait, this is a good thing.
- 48:24Speaker 3: This is a good thing that I have to actually
- 48:26Speaker 3: stop and chill and not feel guilty about chilling.
- 48:31Speaker 7: And so I have learned to relax more.
- 48:33Speaker 3: Without feeling like a horrible person.
- 48:35Speaker 5: That's a good thing.
- 48:36Speaker 4: Again, there's some upsides to that.
- 48:39Speaker 6: There's a lot of horrible things going on. Again, I
- 48:42Speaker 6: never want to make light of it in any sense
- 48:44Speaker 6: because people are losing loved ones. But I'm always just
- 48:48Speaker 6: every step of this little process just looking at where
- 48:52Speaker 6: we are in this weird little situation we're all in.
- 48:55Speaker 6: stuck in that nobody could have prepared it's funny that
- 48:59Speaker 6: even like the beginning of this year nobody could like
- 49:02Speaker 6: it happened so quick that nobody could have ever.
- 49:08Speaker 2: I i'll admit i'm guilty of when it before the
- 49:12Speaker 2: quarantining started happening i remember we'll be fine things are
- 49:16Speaker 2: going to be okay. And then after a while, I
- 49:18Speaker 2: was like, yeah, we're going to be okay. The economy
- 49:21Speaker 2: may take a hit that may take a couple years
- 49:23Speaker 2: to recover from. Blah, blah, blah. We'll be fine. And
- 49:26Speaker 2: then suddenly one day I was like, oh, I don't
- 49:28Speaker 2: know about this anymore.
- 49:29Speaker 4: I don't know if we're going to be fine.
- 49:32Speaker 6: It'll be interesting to see where everything goes from there.
- 49:36Speaker 4: Just because it's going to have... Because we haven't even
- 49:40Speaker 4: really re-entered. This week is kind of the first of
- 49:43Speaker 4: us sort of trying to get back out and get.
- 49:47Speaker 2: A foothold on life. It's almost like we're sticking our
- 49:49Speaker 2: toe in the water.
- 49:49Speaker 4: Yeah, so it's interesting to see where all of the
- 49:54Speaker 4: repercussions are going to come along. What all it's going
- 49:57Speaker 4: to factor into down.
- 49:59Speaker 6: The line that we don't even realize yet. Because there's
- 50:02Speaker 6: so many of those minor little things... In the past.
- 50:06Speaker 4: Even something like, what a weird.
- 50:08Speaker 6: Effect that 2008 recession had on... For the next decade,
- 50:14Speaker 6: people would still refer to that. Or the movies that
- 50:17Speaker 6: came out then reflected weird stuff from that. And that
- 50:20Speaker 6: was like a blip compared to the things that are
- 50:23Speaker 6: going on in the world right now. So, yeah, I
- 50:25Speaker 6: can only imagine the ripple effect that this will have
- 50:29Speaker 6: on everything.
- 50:30Speaker 2: I'm curious to see the virus movies and TV shows.
- 50:34Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 50:35Speaker 4: They're coming. That's what I said. Again, all the horrible
- 50:41Speaker 4: things aside, it's such a perfect setup for.
- 50:44Speaker 6: Think how many cheesy rom-coms you could do stuck in
- 50:48Speaker 6: a house together.
- 50:50Speaker 4: You could set up such a horribly cheesy setup. Or
- 50:54Speaker 4: how many sitcoms of people being stuck in a house together.
- 50:58Speaker 4: there's just so much potential for probably bad versions of it,
- 51:02Speaker 4: but you know, if you give it to the right writer,
- 51:04Speaker 4: maybe something good, but then we.
- 51:07Speaker 2: Have, the idea can be good or bad depending on
- 51:09Speaker 2: who works with it.
- 51:11Speaker 6: And then like of all the cheesy virus movies we've
- 51:14Speaker 6: already had, like now it's just going to be, actually
- 51:18Speaker 6: what's funny is cause I made a joke, like the
- 51:20Speaker 6: second one of our zoom episodes is, that like, did
- 51:24Speaker 6: somebody already crank out a movie since this started?
- 51:27Speaker 4: That did actually happen.
- 51:29Speaker 6: Like somebody finished one and got it like released onto
- 51:33Speaker 6: streaming within the span of this happening.
- 51:35Speaker 11: Wow.
- 51:36Speaker 4: That's frightening. Like that's the world we're living in already.
- 51:40Speaker 4: So yeah. I don't know if it's hopeful or not.
- 51:46Speaker 4: People are in ingenuity. Yeah.
- 51:49Speaker 6: Ingenuity and dedication to their craft and I don't know.
- 51:55Speaker 4: It's disturbing.
- 51:56Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 51:59Speaker 4: But here we are.
- 52:02Speaker 6: Any other words to pass on to people as they
- 52:05Speaker 6: move forward with their lives?
- 52:07Speaker 4: Before the next wave kills us all.
- 52:10Speaker 9: Wear your damn mask.
- 52:13Speaker 4: Stay away from each other.
- 52:15Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 52:15Speaker 4: I think most of those things are good all the time.
- 52:17Speaker 3: Sure.
- 52:19Speaker 6: I do feel like every time I go in a
- 52:20Speaker 6: store now, I'm getting ready to pull.
- 52:21Speaker 4: A bank job.
- 52:22Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 52:22Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 52:23Speaker 6: Because I'm not driving with it. I do see a
- 52:26Speaker 6: lot of people in their car driving with their mask on.
- 52:28Speaker 4: And I'm like, who are you protecting yourself from? You're
- 52:32Speaker 4: the only one there.
- 52:33Speaker 2: Is anyone else getting dirty looks when you wear your
- 52:36Speaker 2: mask from people who aren't?
- 52:38Speaker 5: Yeah, from like boomers that are like.
- 52:41Speaker 2: I see it all age groups, especially the older people
- 52:47Speaker 2: that I'm actively trying to protect.
- 52:49Speaker 5: Yes, they think that you're a snowflake for wearing your mask.
- 52:51Speaker 4: Oh my God.
- 52:53Speaker 6: At this point, it's just for the sake of showing
- 52:57Speaker 6: that you care about other people. Even if you don't
- 52:59Speaker 6: buy into it, just be like, look, I'm not going
- 53:01Speaker 6: out of my way to be a dick. So put
- 53:04Speaker 6: your stupid mask on. I don't care if you think
- 53:06Speaker 6: it's going to do anything. I question some of the
- 53:08Speaker 6: science behind it.
- 53:09Speaker 4: I'm like, it's not airborne yet. Yet. But that's the
- 53:13Speaker 4: next phase that's going to kill us all. Once it
- 53:15Speaker 4: goes airborne.
- 53:15Speaker 2: But I don't think it's more likely for me or
- 53:18Speaker 2: someone else to get it because I have a mask on.
- 53:21Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 53:21Speaker 7: So, you know.
- 53:22Speaker 6: It's not hurting anything. Like, it's only going to help
- 53:25Speaker 6: everyone in the grand scheme of things.
- 53:27Speaker 4: So shut up.
- 53:28Speaker 12: Put your mask on.
- 53:29Speaker 6: But, yeah, I think it's interesting how much there's a
- 53:32Speaker 6: weird little power play going on.
- 53:34Speaker 4: I'm not wearing a mask. People with their weird.
- 53:38Speaker 9: My freedoms.
- 53:39Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 53:40Speaker 6: Although I will say when I, cause for a while
- 53:42Speaker 6: I didn't have one. So I had to like order
- 53:44Speaker 6: one and it took forever for the overpriced bullshit.
- 53:47Speaker 4: That's the other thing I'm questioning.
- 53:48Speaker 6: I saw the news constantly running all these people that
- 53:52Speaker 6: were redesigning their business so they can instead make masks.
- 53:56Speaker 6: I never saw one of those damn masks. Like I
- 53:57Speaker 6: still don't have one. I didn't see people selling them.
- 54:00Speaker 6: I'm like, where are they going?
- 54:01Speaker 4: Like these people that are like, there's just loaded Etsy
- 54:04Speaker 4: pages somewhere out there. I don't know, but I never
- 54:06Speaker 4: saw any of those. So like I finally got one.
- 54:09Speaker 6: The first time I put it on, the lady at
- 54:12Speaker 6: the grocery stopped me because she thought I was taking
- 54:14Speaker 6: the thing.
- 54:15Speaker 4: She's like, are you going to pay for that? I'm like,
- 54:16Speaker 4: just because I'm wearing a mask doesn't mean I'm holding
- 54:18Speaker 4: the place up. So, again, very first time I wore it.
- 54:24Speaker 2: There's no hope.
- 54:27Speaker 1: All right.
- 54:29Speaker 4: I think we've covered our geek activities and the world
- 54:32Speaker 4: at large.
- 54:35Speaker 6: Thank you for joining us and for surviving and still
- 54:39Speaker 6: listening and going on with your lives as much as
- 54:42Speaker 6: we all can. We'll try to continue these episodes to
- 54:46Speaker 6: give you something to listen to as things rebuild. Before
- 54:51Speaker 6: we were saying the world's falling apart, let's hope now rebuild.
- 54:54Speaker 6: Unless the new spike kicks in.
- 54:56Speaker 4: But whatever. Rebuild! Otherwise, that about does it. We will
- 55:01Speaker 4: chat next time, same geek feed. Thanks for listening.
- 55:06Speaker 8: It's time for all good men to get together with
- 55:09Speaker 8: one another.
- 55:09Speaker 10: We've got to iron our problems and iron out our
- 55:13Speaker 10: quarrels and try.
- 55:14Speaker 8: To live as brothers.
- 55:16Speaker 10: Try to find peace within without stepping on one another.
- 55:21Speaker 8: And do respect the women of the world. Remember you
- 55:25Speaker 8: all had mothers. We gotta make this land a better
- 55:29Speaker 8: land than the.
- 55:30Speaker 7: World in which we live.
- 55:31Speaker 10: And we gotta help each man be a better man
- 55:35Speaker 10: with the kindness that we give.
- 55:38Speaker 7: I know we can make it.
- 55:40Speaker 8: I know that we can.
- 55:41Speaker 7: I know darn well we can work it out.
- 55:43Speaker 1: Yes, we can.
- 55:44Speaker 2: I know we can, can.
- 55:45Speaker 7: Yes, we can, can. Why can't we if we want to?
- 55:48Speaker 8: Yes, we can, can.
- 55:49Speaker 10: I know we can make it work.
- 55:52Speaker 8: I know we can make it if we try. Yes,
- 55:55Speaker 8: we can.
- 55:55Speaker 7: I know we can, can.
- 55:56Speaker 3: Yes, we can.
- 55:57Speaker 8: We got somebody.
- 55:58Speaker 7: Yes, we can.
- 55:59Speaker 8: I know we can, can. And we gotta take care.
- 56:11Speaker 10: Of all the children, the little children of the world.
- 56:15Speaker 10: Cause they're our strongest hope for the future, the little
- 56:19Speaker 10: bitty boys and girls.
- 56:21Speaker 8: We got to make this land a.
- 56:23Speaker 7: Better land than the world in which we live.
- 56:26Speaker 8: And we gotta.
- 56:27Speaker 10: Help each man be a better man with the kindness
- 56:30Speaker 10: that we give.
- 56:33Speaker 7: I know we can make it work.
- 56:34Speaker 8: I know that we can make it if we try.
- 56:36Speaker 11: Yes, we can.
- 56:37Speaker 7: I know we can.
- 56:38Speaker 2: Yes, we can.
- 56:39Speaker 9: Yes, we can.
- 57:03Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 57:16Speaker 7: I know we can make it.
- 57:18Speaker 8: I know we can.
- 57:19Speaker 7: I know darn well we can.
- 57:20Speaker 1: Work it out. Yes, we can.
- 57:22Speaker 7: I know we can, can. Yes, we can, can. Why
- 57:24Speaker 7: can't we if we want it? Yes, we can, can.
- 57:26Speaker 8: I know we can make it work. I know we
- 57:30Speaker 8: can make it if we try. Yes, we can. I
- 57:33Speaker 8: know we can, can.
- 57:34Speaker 1: Yes, we can.
- 57:36Speaker 10: We can make it y'all.
- 57:39Speaker 8: Oh yeah, we can make it y'all. Oh, we're gonna try. Yeah,
- 57:42Speaker 8: we can make it y'all. Sometimes it's hard. Sometimes it's hard.
- 57:46Speaker 8: Sometimes it's hard.
- 57:48Speaker 7: Oh, we can make it y'all.
- 58:04Speaker 8: I know we can make it.
- 58:06Speaker 7: I know that we can.
- 58:07Speaker 8: I know darn well we can work it out.
- 58:09Speaker 7: We can work it out.
- 58:10Speaker 2: Yes, we can, can.
- 58:11Speaker 1: Yes, we can, can.
- 58:12Speaker 7: I'm working. If we want to get together, we can
- 58:14Speaker 7: work it out.
- 58:15Speaker 8: I know we can make it.
- 58:17Speaker 7: I know that we can.
- 58:18Speaker 8: I know darn well we can work it out. We
- 58:20Speaker 8: can work it out.
- 58:21Speaker 2: Yes, we can, can.
- 58:22Speaker 1: Yes, we can, can. I'm working. If we want to get.
- 58:25Speaker 8: Together, we can work it out.
- 58:26Speaker 7: I know we can make it. I know that we can.
- 58:28Speaker 7: I know darn well we.
- 58:30Speaker 1: Can work it out.
- 58:35Speaker 8: We can work it out.
- 58:36Speaker 7: I know we can make it. I know that we can.
- 58:39Speaker 7: I know we've done well.
- 58:41Speaker 8: We can work it out. Now's the time all the
- 58:43Speaker 8: people come together as a need. We'll take the burden
- 58:45Speaker 8: off because we've got to love one another.
- 58:47Speaker 7: I know we can make it. I know that we can.
- 58:50Speaker 7: I know we've done well. We can work it out.
- 58:52Speaker 10: There's so many need and so many for, but love
- 58:55Speaker 10: and understanding is the key to the door.
- 58:57Speaker 8: I know we can make it.
- 58:59Speaker 7: I know that we can. I know God will.
- 59:01Speaker 8: How can you sit there like there's nothing to do?
- 59:04Speaker 8: Just like you don't care what the world's coming to.
- 59:07Speaker 10: I know we can make it I know that we
- 59:10Speaker 10: can I know down well We can work it out
- 59:13Speaker 10: It's gonna be hard but like the people say No
- 59:16Speaker 10: matter how.
- 59:17Speaker 8: Hard or there's a will there's a.
- 59:18Speaker 10: Way I know we can make it I know that
- 59:21Speaker 10: we can I know down.
- 59:22Speaker 1: Well We can work it out.
- 59:29Speaker 7: I know we can make it. I know that we can.
- 59:34Speaker 7: I know done well.
- 59:35Speaker 8: We can work it out.
- 59:37Speaker 4: We can work it out.
- 59:38Speaker 7: I know we can make it.
- 59:41Speaker 2: I know that we can.
- 59:42Speaker 7: I know done well.
- 59:44Speaker 9: We can work it out.
- 59:45Speaker 8: We can work it out.
- 1:00:04Speaker 5: Oh, jeez, what's his name? Willem Dafoe.
- 1:00:10Speaker 3: He's like a sled dog driver person.
- 1:00:13Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, I think I did say Willem Dafoe was
- 1:00:16Speaker 2: a sled dog.
- 1:00:16Speaker 4: He is the sled dog.
- 1:00:17Speaker 2: I was like, all right, I am.
- 1:00:19Speaker 7: Sign me up. I mean, I can see, like, his
- 1:00:22Speaker 7: scary teeth.
- 1:00:23Speaker 4: He does kind of have that face, yeah.
- 1:00:25Speaker 12: This episode is a production of Movie Meltdown, produced and
