It's been mm-hmm. Shaun: no, that's a loaded question. Very loaded question. Barry: It's a it's a load of question. Jen: That is a loaded question. It has been Shaun: Yeah. Jen: a wild August. for our listeners that do not know, my one of my boys was sick, and you know, you just don't, your mind doesn't jump to crazy things. yeah, Barry: Life's crazy sometimes, unfortunately. Jen: Yeah, we just and it's funny too, because we had been noticing certain things about like his personality and his behavior changing. And I had actually just scheduled him a doctor's appointment the day before. because I Shaun: Yeah. Jen: was like, I just want to get him seen because I just feel like he's not acting normal, but like he's not running a fever, he's not TMI, he doesn't have any diarrhea or anything like that. Like just the tell signs. Yeah. He wasn't he didn't have Barry: Hey tell tell signs of sickness, bro. Yep. Shaun: Bodily function, yeah. Jen: any of those. But you could tell something was off with him. he is very much a a bundle of joy. He is a singer like me. So we are just constantly singing musicals and acting goofy, and he's just that kind of kid. And it just was like a complete 180. Like he didn't want to sing, he didn't wanna mm-hmm. And Barry: When yeah, when they're not doing their normal stuff, that's hard to see and definitely concerning. Jen: he's not like a upset kid, if that makes sense. Like it takes a lot usually for him to get like really upset. And I feel like just he was getting really upset and kind of being ugly to people and just wasn't him. So, anyways, we scheduled an appointment. We still sent him to school on the first day, thinking everything was fine. comes home, we go to Tuesday, and he throws up all over the breakfast table. So we're like, Shaun: Geeze Jen: okay, we think he's got a stomach bug, keep him home from school. and then it just went off the rails from there. Barry: Jesus. Jen: Like he just progressively got worse throughout the day to the point where we ended up trying to get him in a shower. And he like wasn't you could tell he was trying to tell us something, but he wasn't making sense. And then that's when we were like, okay, something is very, very wrong. We need to take him to the ER. come to find out, he was in something called D-A-K or DKA, which is diabetic keto acidosis. And he was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, which is, Barry: Crazy. Jen: if you don't know, it's a lot. It is a huge change. which is wild. So we spent about five days in the PICU at a children's hospital here. And Barry: Yeah. Jen: and he's doing much better now. We are learning about all of the things that you have to learn about with. type one diabetics and what that looks like and what that means for him long term and how to manage his sugars every day and what equipment we need to get and yeah, it's it's been a wild ride, but thankfully, yeah, it really was. It's just those Barry: Those life altering moments, man. You wish you could see Shaun: Yeah. Barry: coming so you could prepare, but they never it never really happens that way. Jen: Yeah. Yeah. Shaun: Yeah. Jen: Yeah. And hindsight's twenty twenty because they as as we're Barry: Always Jen: like in the hospital and they're talking about has he been losing weight? Has his personality changed? Has he been doing all of these things literally every single one? Every single one. Barry: You're like check, check, check. But you don't want to be Shaun: Yeah. Barry: that person who jumps on Google and jumps like to the worst case scenario. Like nah, they're just having a little something that is gonna run its course. It's tough to know. yeah, for sure. So yeah. Yeah. For sure. No, it's I mean, we're figuring it out. And don't I hope y'all don't blame yourselves Jen: Exactly. Exactly. Yeah. Yeah. Especially because like that doesn't run in our family like that. So like, why in the world would my brain go there? Yeah. Yeah. So I was, yeah. I don't know. Shaun: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Barry: or anything like that. Like Jen: I've gone through many a stage of grief. Yeah. Barry: I'm sure that's why I say what I'm saying. Like, don't yeah, we do as parents and Shaun: Yeah. Jen: Yeah. Yeah, the first few days were really, really hard. I think we're still learning to navigate it all, but and I know there's gonna be so many more. Yeah, so much more coming, but yeah. Barry: Yeah. It'll be it's it'll be a learning opportun. I mean, that's really what it is. It's a life changing thing that you never planned Shaun: It's major change. Yeah. Yeah. Barry: for and you'll have to work through it. I mean, Jen: Yeah. Yeah. Shaun: And it's not just him, it's the entire family. Like the whole family is changing with it. So yeah. Barry: scary. Exactly. For sure. It changes everybody. And I d it'll be like one of those things where Jen: Exactly. Yep. Yeah. Yeah. Barry: it's like this moment was like pre and post, like this is our new life. So it's Jen: Yeah. And like getting eight year olds to understand that concept, not only for him to understand, and Barry: man, that's a hard thing. Yeah. Jen: he's already said it quite a few times, like, I don't want to have shots for the rest of my life. And it like immediately breaks your heart. I'm not gonna cry on this podcast, I swear. Barry: Yeah. Jen: But like to get that concept Barry: No it is. It's tough. Jen: to be understood by an eight year old is just like, ugh, why? What Barry: Dude. Jen: god do I have to go find and punch in the nose? Barry: Adults would struggle to find to to accept that. So yeah, an eight year old kid, no. Psh, no. Right? Just trying to live your life. No, bro. It's no, it's I can't imagine. Yeah, that things are changed. Yeah. Mm-hmm. Shaun: Yeah. It's nearly impossible, yeah. Jen: Exactly. Yeah. Like what was I doing at eight years old? Hiding smacks from my parents, not having to Yeah. Yeah. And then trying to get the other two to understand, yes, you don't have type one diabetes, but this is a family change and this is a lifestyle Shaun: Yeah. Yeah. Jen: change. And we are all going to do this together as a family. Barry: Yeah. Jen: And so that's hard to navigate. Yeah. Yeah. Barry: I mean that's the best thing you could do is band together 'cause I mean, yeah. People are stronger with with support, so Jen: Yeah. Honestly he's taking it like a champ. Shaun: And know that you all do have support too. Barry: Yes, yes. Anybody, any time. Shaun: You've got you've got a village. If you n like lean on us, like at any point in time. Jen: We do. We do. Shaun: Yes. Jen: And honestly, the amount of people that reached out and checked in in again, I'm not gonna cry on this podcast, was just really beautiful. So we appreciate the love. Yeah. Yeah. A hundred percent. Barry: Good. Well it's good to have that on the other side of it. Always. But no, Shaun: That's nice. Yes. Barry: y'all are strong people. You like Shaun said, you got a strong community. Jen: Yeah, we do. Barry: And y'all will figure it out. We'll figure it out. Jen: Yeah, we'll be we'll be good. We'll figure it out. It's not always gonna be easy, but he will Barry: It won't. It won't. Jen: be good. He will be good and live a full, happy, wonderful life. Just with a little more flair. He's got a little more mechanical attachments now. Shaun: Yeah. Jen: So but yeah, that is my August in review. I feel like just Shaun: True, it's fair. Jen: the whole month of August was wild. Shaun: Yeah. Well, Barry, how about you, dog? Barry: Well, I definitely didn't go through anything like that, but I know, that's what I was thinking, like you're telling the story's like, damn, how am I gonna switch this to ch like Shaun: Right. Right. Like how do you follow up? Like, well, Jen: To follow that up. Shaun: there goes the episode number fourteen. Yeah. Jen: We're gonna just wrap it up, leave it at that. Barry: not not to make light, but I feel like I almost killed myself on Sunday out in this heat trying to wrap a vehicle. So but nah, that was self inflicted. So Saturday I played okay, so Jen: yeah. That's so wild. But also stop rapping vehicles and being out in the sun like that. Mm-mm. Mm-mm. Shaun: Yeah, you were okay. Yeah, tell us about that. Barry: Saturday I played in our golf thing. We didn't make the finals, unfortunately. We lost by like half a point. We it wasn't me. I wasn't on there Wednesday, bro. No. They they they Shaun: Dang, y'all suck. I'm joking, I'm joking. Barry: did well, but I I played well s Saturday. Well enough. I I won my match. Me and my partner, we didn't win overall for third, fourth place. It was like a consolation match. It was just fun. I'm get out Jen: Hm. Yeah. Barry: and play golf. But it was hot. So that was Saturday. What time? I got back like at four o'clock. Crazy story. So I'm gonna go off on a whole bunch of things. I'm telling y'all some weirdness. Shaun: Okay. Barry: So Saturday I did that, got home and I was starving. So I went and got Jimmy John's. And Becca was Shaun: Favorite. Barry: like, yo, just give me a loaf of bread. Do y'all know that they sell day old bread and it's the best for a fifty cents a loaf? Jen: Mm-hmm, mhm, mhm, mm-hmm. Shaun: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Barry: Okay, so that's our thing. Like anytime we want to do like special sandwiches or anything like that, I'm like, all right, I'll go get a couple loaves. Even if they don't Jen: Loaves from Barry: have leftover ones, the the ones that are brand new are two dollars. So it's still Jen: Mm. Barry: a deal. So I ordered myself a sandwich and Becca was like, Get me a loaf, because she was gonna make some soup or something. She wanted to dip some bread in. I was like, cool. So I go in, I order I had ordered my stuff, and I'm like, yo, I just wanna get two. of the loaves. She was like, She didn't she didn't preface anything. She was like, Would you just take the rest of what we have? I was like, I think it's like, she's got like three or four, right? Jen: no. Barry: She was like, I'll just charge you a dollar for what we have. And I was like, yeah, cool. Jen: Sure. Barry: Yo. She was like, You cool with just the bag? I thought she was gonna get like this the white sandwich bag, just throw a couple Jen: Uh-huh. Barry: of them in there. Sh she pulls the box onto the counter, pulls out a new Bag that they keep them in, it's a blue bag, just starts counting. I'm like, yo, that's six. What are we doing? There's eight. Why am I walking out with 12 Shaun: Ha ha ha Barry: frickin' rolls of Jimmy John's bread, bro? And she already got halfway there. I was like, what do I do? Do I tell yo, I don't need more than that? I told you I Jen: That's too funny. Yes that stop. Yeah. Shaun: Whoa, whoa, whoa, that's too many. Barry: would take all of them, so I guess I'm locked into all of these loaves now. Jen: that's so funny. Barry: And she's like, here you go. And I'm like, thank you. Okay, so I'm proud to say that we have used almost all of those loaves. I threw away two of them because so I've been Jen: Hey it did not go to waste. Shaun: Hey. We don't waste around here. Barry: making sandwiches. I went bought like good deli meats and we did like sandwiches. Jen: Ha ha Barry: We do these chopped sandwiches where we chop up the meat and the lettuce Jen: O Shaun: Mm. Barry: and the cheese and then do your little mix of whatever dressing Jen: Mm. Barry: or condiment you want. Jen: Mm. Barry: So little one loves roast beef, so made her little roast beef and lettuce tomato. And then we did Philly cheesesteaks last night, which we usually get the day the day old bread for those. Shaun: D Jen: Mm-hmm. Barry: Cook up the it's it not prime rib. Yeah. I get like the thin slice prime rib. Cook Jen: Mm. Barry: it up on the black stone. Comes out phenomenal. A little cheese whiz. Like we do Jen: Nom nom Well now I'm hungry. Barry: the legit like Philly Shaun: Right. Barry: cheese whiz. It's good stuff. Jen: Good stuff. Barry: And then tonight, what's up? Shaun: No Cooper Sharp? No Cooper Sharp? That's that's the way to go. Jen: I don't think I've ever had Barry: I like the prime rib, thin sliced prime rib. Shaun: man. No, the cheese, the Cooper Sharp cheese, man, it melts so beautifully. And Barry: no, bro, you do the cheese whiz. Mm-hmm. Shaun: it just like wraps Jen: Hm. Shaun: around the meat. Barry: No. We do the cheese wiz Tonight we did pizzas, flatbread pizzas on the bread. Yo. I've been back was like, Are you tired? I was like, I'm really not. I could do this for the rest of my life. Like I've I think I've told y'all that. Like I love sandwiches. I could eat a sandwich for every Jen: Ooh, mm-hmm. You know it's National Pizza Day. Shaun: We do. Jen: Yeah. We do know he's a sandwich guy. It's his favorite food. Barry: meal of every day and be completely fine. Shaun: Same. Jen: It is very versatile. Barry: And I've justified that over these last three days, four days. Jen: He said, I have proved Shaun: There you go. Jen: my point. Barry: I proved my point. Shaun: So how many loaves are left? Okay. Barry: Two and I'm gonna use one tomorrow to make a sandwich for lunch. Give me a little Italian Shaun: There you go. Jen: There you go. There you go. Barry: bro. Speaking of, did y'all know that Jersey Mike sells their pepper relish in its own jar? I Shaun: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Barry: went and got that phenomenal ad onto the Italian style Jen: Mm. Barry: chopped up sandwich. That's what I've been eating for like four days straight for lunch. Jen: I haven't gone to Jersey Micks very much. Barry: Yo, I love their their jersey or their subs, man. Yeah, they're good. Shaun: Had it last week, I think. Yeah. Jen: Mm. Barry: But yo, Shaun: Mm-hmm. Jen: Hmm. Barry: I've been living it up. But yo, it's been a Jen: He's in sandwich heaven lately. Shaun: Way to do it. Right. Barry: phenomenal. But Sunday I did almost kill myself out in this heat trying to wrap the top of Becca's Jen: So funny. Barry: car. So Shaun: Yeah. Barry: I literally think I had heat stroke for a hot second. Jen: You probably did. Barry: No, straight up. Like I came in Shaun: Probably. Barry: at one point, my little one, she was like, You're sweating a lot. I was like, I feel like I'm dying. Shaun: Your dehydrated too, probably. Barry: And then at the end of Jen: Yeah. Barry: it, yo, it was a horrible job, so I just pulled it all off at seven o'clock on Sunday night. I was so pissed. So pissed. Jen: No. Not even worth it. Shaun: Ha ha ha god. Barry: So pissed. It looked like shit. No, bro. Jen: 'Cause your eyes were probably blurring in your heat stroke. Barry: I definitely got lightheaded and lots of things. Jen: Mm. Barry: I had to lay it on the floor for a hot minute. Shaun: Gotta take care of yourself in this heat. Barry: Yeah, it was. I was Jen: My gosh, no. You cannot be doing that kind of stuff right now in the hottest part time. Barry: No, it was a bad choice. Well, yo, and the thing, like the the vinyl was so hot, it wasn't even like it was just like rubber and stretchy, like I couldn't even I was like, why Shaun: Mm-hmm. Barry: am I doing this? But I got so frustrated and just so delirious. I was like, I'm finishing, I don't care. This is happening. And then what I got yo, bro, I hate Jen: No, this is going on. Shaun: I've seen you in that mode before. You were in that mode and we attended my car. Jen: Right. Barry: not finishing that stuff. I can't not. Shaun: Yeah. Barry: So I was like, nah, I'm just gonna leave it and come back tomorrow morning. I was like, nah, it would be so horrible to try now. I was like, I can't then Yeah. Once I kinda cooled down and sh like got some food and felt decent, I was like, I'm gonna go cut the edges. And I like peeled off the there's like a protective clear coat that you peel off on the 'cause it's the black. I was like, God, why? Jen: Mm-hmm. It was a no go. Barry: Why? There were so many bubbles and I was just like, I'm done. Jen: How often do you have to redo that? Barry: well this one I had met I was trying to be cheap and I didn't have a large enough sheet to do the whole roof. So I did it in two pieces and one of peeled up. Jen: Hmm. Barry: So I'm redoing it. But Jen: Well, not you're redoing it again. Barry: Now I'm redoing it again. So Shaun: Just straight black. Barry: Yeah. Yeah, just on a roof. It's not too hard, but it was a bad time to do it. Shaun: Yeah. Let me know, dog. Jen: Mm. Shaun: I can come over and help you out. Let me get ready to do it. Barry: I might need it. If I had one set of hands it would make my life so much easier. Shaun: Yeah. Give me a shout. Jen: There you go. He said boom boom. Shaun: There you go. I got I got two. Barry: But I need to be out like at nine in the morning, bro, because in this Texas heat getting out there past noon Jen: Yeah. Barry: is insanity. Shaun: Yeah. Barry: And our driveway has zero coverage, Jen: Even nine. Barry: bro. Shaun: Yeah. Barry: So the sun just instantly heats everything up Jen: Bakes it. Barry: and yeah, it becomes way too way too Jen: Yeah. Barry: soft to you need it hard. Shaun: I mean, sometimes you just gotta have it hard, you know. This guy. Jen: Ya nasties Barry: anyways. But then I don't think anything happened Monday. Jen: I was like, my God, what more do you have, Barry? Jesus. Shaun: But then Barry: No, Monday was cool. But today's Wednesday, right? No, Tuesday. Yo, I've crazy. So today my oldest got her braces off. Shout out to big Shaun: Tuesday. Today's Tuesday. I know, I'm confused too. What? Jen: I don't know. Yeah, Tuesday. Yeah Barry: one. Shaun: That's big one. That's crazy. The big one is Barry: Yeah. Jen: Oops. Shaun: not the way to go. Older one maybe. Jen: Mm. Big one. Barry: Older one, eldest child, the big one. Shout Jen: Big one Barry: out to her. Shaun: Especially since she's like a bean pole anyway. You can't call her the big one. shout out. Jen: A yeah, like Barry: She is. She is so tall and skinny. But yeah, Jen: Yeah. You're funny. Barry: she's like trying to be like superstitious. She was like, Don't say this is gonna happen. Cause it was supposed to happen back in July before we went to Great Wolf. And they were like, Well, we want to move a couple things. And she got Jen: Mm-hmm. Barry: she gets her feelings upset. So she was upset Jen: Yeah. Shaun: Yeah. Barry: back in July. And she was like, Dad, you can't say that it's happening. I was like, I'm telling you it's happening. Like I know in my heart that it's happening. Jen: I would have so mad Shaun: Right. Jen: at you. You're jinxing me. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Barry: She was like, Dad, I'm gonna hate you if you jinx me. That's exactly what she said. I like, I'm not jinxing you. Like you've done the stuff, everything's what they want. So Shaun: Yeah. Jen: happened to me too when I was getting my braces off. They said they were gonna do it like three different times and I got so upset. Shaun: What does it feel like to have braces? Because I've always wanted them, but I never had the chance to get them. Yeah. Barry: Just a whole bunch of metal in your mouth, bro. Jen: Yeah. It doesn't feel great in the beginning. Like in the beginning, your mouth is just mm. It's literally like you're just scraping. And then eventually, Barry: Anytime they like yeah. With all the movement, it hurts. Yeah. Everything's just moving. Jen: like a few months in, you like the inside of your lips are like numb to it. Cause it's so yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's not fun. Barry: 'cause yeah. You can rub like coarseness on the inside from the metal. Yeah. It ain't fun. Shaun: Man. I actually asked my dentist for braces once and she was like, No, I'm not giving you braces. I was like, Well, okay. I just wanted them. Yeah. Jen: Sounds good. Barry: No, they're not why do you want if you don't need Jen: Mm mm. Shaun: It seems like one of those things that you go through as like a teenager or like a young younger person, but Barry: Yo. I mean I did. But I yo, I felt like I was super young when I got mine. I was like in fourth or fifth grade. Jen: my gosh. That is really young. Shaun: Yeah. huh. Jen: I was a I was a teenager. Barry: But I lost all my teeth early. Like I don't know. I got a big mouth with big teeth. Shaun: Yeah. Jen: Hmm. Interesting. They they look good now, so that's there we go. Thanks for showing out the cash. Barry: But they look good though. Thanks thanks mom. Thanks, Dad. I wore my retainers. Shaun: Pose for the frame. Jen: There you go. I still have a permanent one right here. Mm-hmm. Keeps my bottom straight. Shaun: my goodness. Really? Barry: Becca has a permanent. Well, now is the her problem. She didn't wear her retainers when she was a kid, so we did as an adult for her with Invisalign. And that shit Jen: Mm yeah. Barry: ain't cheap. Jen: no. Shaun: Hmm. Jen: no. Shaun: So what's a permanent Barry: So Shaun: retainer? Like, does it ever come out or is it Barry: No. It's like Jen: Uh-uh. Barry: a metal band that they epoxy onto the back of your teeth. Mm-hmm. Yep. Jen: It's like cemented. Yeah. Yeah. It's a metal bar. Shaun: Jeez. Does that can you Barry: Stays. Shaun: feel it? Jen: Yeah, I feel it all the time. Sometimes I'll just sit here and be like Barry: Rub your tongue on it. Jen: Mm-hmm. That's exactly what I'm doing. It's just like a weird thing, but it that doesn't bother me at all 'cause it doesn't hurt or Barry: Nah, that's what yeah. Jen: but Barry: Becca and the eldest said they're used to it. She has a permanent on the bottom and the top and she's getting a tray Jen: Mm. Barry: like a for a night night guard kind of deal Jen: Night guards. Yeah. Shaun: Mm. Mm. Barry: for her top teeth. Sh they Jen: Yeah. Barry: did a mold and they took a digital Jen: That's good. Barry: rendering. Shaun: Yeah. That's what they did for mine. It takes a few weeks for it to come in, but it was nice. Dude, it's so great. Jen: 'Cause then she can keep it. Barry: Mm-hmm. Yo, I have a night guard too, and it is the worst. I will never I've spent five hundred dollars Jen: I never wear mine. Yeah. Barry: on it and I hate it. I don't wear it. Jen: Yeah. Shaun: it's so nice. It it takes some getting used to, but it's it's Barry: No, it's not. I drool, bro, and no. Nah. Jen: I just can't Barry: I don't enjoy the feeling. I was gonna say I hate having it in. I can't Jen: fall asleep with it in my mouth. Yeah. Mm mm. Yeah. Shaun: Really? Barry: I've tried it for months on end and I've just like Jen said, I have a hard time. Yeah, I was like, Jen: Yeah. I gave that up a long time ago. Barry: well, chalk Shaun: Yeah. Barry: that five hundred up because I'm Shaun: Yeah. Barry: not doing it. Jen: And even the last and disappointment I had, they were like, We're noticing some grinding, Jennifer. And I'm like, then you're gonna get I'm not gonna. Yeah. Yeah. I'm not going to. Yeah. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Barry: Yep, that's what they tell me. They're like, I would really like if you would wear it. I'm like, Well, no, I'm not. I appreciate it. We'll just keep giving giving that a feeling or you know, giving a little. But yeah, no. And they even like cut it down because it used Shaun: Mm. I don't know what to tell you, it's gonna keep happening. Cash. Barry: to be in all of my teeth. And he was like, Well, what if we just cut it down to your fangs? And I was like, Sure, we could try it. I mean, I already spent the money. I'm not wearing it as is, so why not Jen: Yeah. Barry: cut it up? Sure. Tried Shaun: Yeah. Jen: Mm mm. Yeah. It's a no for me. Barry: it. Nope. Sorry, Dr. Litton. Sorry, bruh. I appreciate you. It ain't you though. It's me. Exactly. You got me. Win win for you. But yeah, Jen: It's not happening, sir. Shaun: You wasted your time, he wasted his money. So you both wasted something. Man. Jen: It is what it is. Hmm. Barry: that was my my week. I gotta say it was all over the place. No, I mean, like Shaun: Nice. Yeah. Jen: What a doozy. Barry: I say, following your Jen, that was I'm not upset. Shaun: Yeah, nothing can compare with that. Yeah. Jen: Yeah. Barry: But no. What about Shaun: Man. Barry: you, Shaun? Shaun: Mine was mine was mostly chill, so I there is an update to the tree saga. I I guess we can call it a saga at this point. Jen: Dun dun dun. It is a saga at this point, yeah. Shaun: so we know the Arborist came out, he took a look at it and all that good stuff. Well, I have a care plan with the nursery where I got them from. And what yes, okay. So so here's the thing. Barry: Ooh a care plan for your trees? What? Jen: Like discharge papers for his tree. This is what you need to do. Shaun: Yeah. There because these trees were freaking expensive. So I was like, I'm whatever we need to keep them healthy. Yes. Barry: I believe it. When you buy grown trees, bro, yeah, you paying for time. Jen: I'm sure. I am sure. Shaun: Yeah. So last year when I originally bought them, I had the plan and for whatever reason they had like a change in the the way that it was organized. So they didn't come out when they were supposed to. So this year, when I went to get the replacement, I signed up for it again and they waived half of it basically, because they screwed up last year. Anyway. Barry: Why didn't they wave at all? Sounds like that could have been there. Jen: Yeah, that's my thought. If they screwed up. Shaun: I hmm, believe me, I was just trying to Jen: Hm. Shaun: get my tree. So I just wanna just give me my frickin' tree and figure it out. Yeah. Barry: Sean's like I just wanna replace, bro. Just whatever. Bring it out and put it in the ground. Jen: Just give me the damn tree. Mm-hmm. Shaun: So he came out I think Wednesday, either Wednesday or Thursday of last week, and he was looking at the trees. And the one in the back, great. He's like, it's doing wonderfully. Whatever you're doing, keep doing it. Barry: Telling you, it's getting that fertilizer, bro. Shaun: I don't think it's a fertilizer. But he he took a look at the crate myrtle that was in the front. Barry: the front one's going down again? Okay. Shaun: So no. Hold on. I haven't gotten the I haven't gotten the replacement yet at this point. Barry: you still got Jen: Okay. Barry: the dead one or you just don't got nothing? Still got the dead one. Shaun: Yeah, this this was the dead one. So he was looking at it and I was like, Can you tell me what the hell happened with this tree? Jen: Yeah. Shaun: So he was looking at it and he was like, You had what are known as borers, which I Jen: no. Shaun: looked them up and I got disgusted. So they're they're like beetles, but when they're in like their Barry: What is it? Like a maggot or what? Jen: Ugh yes. Like a little Shaun: larva phase, they look absolutely disgusting. Yeah. Jen: Hideous. Shaun: He was like, there there were nine holes. I was like, what could I have done to prevent that from happening? Because I don't want it to happen again with the new tree once it gets here. He was Barry: To the new one. Yeah. Jen: Yeah. Yeah. Shaun: like, it looks like you did everything you were supposed to do. He was like, Sometimes what happens, right? He Jen: Well, that's discouraging. Barry: Yeah. Shaun: was like, sometimes what happens is if the tree does start to like lose health for whatever reason, that's where they show up and they'll start to attack the tree from the inside and work their way out. Jen: Mm. Shaun: So he was like, what likely happened is once the wintertime came around and the tree started to shed its leaves and like started to go down for the winter, started to go dormant, that's when they invaded and it ended up killing the tree. That's why it never came back. Jen: Mm. Shaun: So today, well, Barry: So how do you prevent them bitches from coming back? Jen: Yeah. Shaun: he told me what you can do is just make sure that it stays as watered as possible and fertilize it every weekend. So he was like, every weekend, just give it some fertilizer. He was like, the back one looks good, but do it in the back two. That way they're both consistent. Jen: Yeah. Shaun: So I was like, all right, I can do that. That's cool. So today, fast Jen: Dang. Shaun: forward to today, literally today, the new tree got delivered. So it is now there. I set up, yes, I set up the the sprinkler, so it's there. No, no. Barry: yeah. Resolution. You just stand in your little entryway and just stare at it No? Jen: Mm. Yeah, just stare at staringly. Shaun: As soon as I got home from work, Jen: Major E. Shaun: I I went out there, I set up the sprinkler, I put the timer on, so now I know it's gonna go off when it's supposed to, so everything is set. Shouldn't have to worry about it. Barry: you're using your f your irrigation system? Shaun: Well, so I don't have a built-in irrigation system, but I bought one. So I bought those and Barry: okay, okay. I got you. Like a temporary one? Shaun: yeah, it's kind of portable. So I just Barry: Nice. Shaun: like put those out there. It'll go off of a timer. It does it every morning or every other morning. And we're good. Barry: I mean better than having to dig holes and trenches in your yard. Shaun: I'm not investing in that. I'm not I'm gonna Jen: Ha ha ha. Shaun: be in this house for a few more years. Yeah, Barry: Hell to the naw, bro Shaun: no. So we'll see how it goes. I'll keep you posted, let you know, make sure that everything is healthy, but so far so good. Jen: Cross them a fingers. Shaun: For the last what twelve hours or so it's been good. So hopefully it stays that way. Yeah, hopefully Jen: Start the clock. Shaun: it stays that way. other than that, I watched a couple of movies. one that I forgot that I hadn't watched in a very long time. Set it off. Barry: Yo, it's a dope movie. Queen Latifa. Yeah. Bank robbers. Okay. The females, all female Shaun: Great movie. Yes. Jen, why do you look confused right now? Do you not know what set it off is? Okay. Yeah. Jen: Explain it, explain it. Okay, okay, yes. Barry: crew. Jen: Yes, okay. Shaun: Yeah. So this girl, her her little brother gets killed and like she works at a bank. They're like trying to figure like how they can pull it off and they start robbing banks and the rest is history. Watch the movie if you haven't watched it. Wonderful movie. Barry: As most bank robbery moves movies go, it isn't always a good ending. Dead Jen: You tend to do. Shaun: And not always gonna be a good ending. Barry: Presidents? Good one? No? Okay. Jen? Dead Presidents? No. Shaun: Really good one. Haven't seen that in forever either, but that is another really good one. Jen: Mm. Barry: It's a good one. I yo, speaking of bank robbery movies, I watched Point Break Shaun: She's not down with those type of movies, is what it sounds like. Jen: Or at least not off the top of my head. Barry: the other day. Have you y'all Point Break? Keanu Reeves? Patrick Jen: yeah, yeah. Shaun: see, I don't know that I've seen that. Barry: Swayze. That's probably the white version of Set It Off, Shaun. Shaun: Probably. Maybe that's why I haven't Jin so Jen's seen that one and I haven't seen it. So that's what makes sense. And you just bridged the gap. Yeah. man. Barry: So instead of instead of there you go, explain explanation. I bridge the gap. I bridge the gap. But yeah, no, Jen: The white male version. Lines up. Barry: it's Surfers, The Dead Presidents, Jen: Mm. Shaun: I feel like I've heard of it. Barry: War Surfers. They did a remake recent like in the past like probably what decade or so. The original's hard to beat, bro. Keanu Reeves, it's Jen: Yeah. Barry: is it Gary Busey? I was like, I can never remember Gary Busey versus Nick Nolte. They're two crazy looking white dudes, so Shaun: They all look alike. I don't know. Barry: But it was Gary Busey They are. They're two crazy looking Shaun: Couldn't tell you. Jen: Two crazy looking white dudes. Barry: and sounding white dudes. Classic Keanu, classic. No, it's a good Shaun: I'll have to look it up then. Jen: You're so funny. Barry: I mean the the the original is a pretty decent movie. I enjoy it. Yeah, no, it's like one of early it's like early Keanu, Shaun: Okay. I like Keanu, so I mean I like his movies or his movies. Barry: bro. It's like one of his early first movies. way but this was before Speed, bro. Way before Speed. Shaun: Like speed speed early? Way before then? Dang. Jen: yeah. Shaun: Okay. Well shoot. I'm gonna check it out then. But yeah. Well, there we go. I've got it, so I can watch it. I also watched Barry: it's on Peacock. That's why I watched it. Bet. But yeah. Jen: There you go. Shaun: this movie on dang. I think it was Netflix. I think it was on Netflix. It's called The Last House. And it's a yeah, it's a it's a movie. It's a very good movie. Barry: The movie? Horror? Shaun: Do recommend. It's not horror. I would say that it's kind of in the category of suspense edging on. Barry: Suspense thriller. Shaun: I will say it's sci fi suspense would be a way to put it. But it did. It's new. I think it just came out. I think it came out in 2026. is it? Barry: Okay. The last house. Is it new or is it old? Okay. Jen: I think it's based off a book. I think so. Shaun: It it might be. It it Barry: I'll to check it out. Shaun: kind of seems like one of those movies is probably based off of the book, honestly. So have you read the book? Are you familiar? Jen: I maybe. If you tell me about the movie, I'll tell you if it's the book I'm thinking of. Hmm. Shaun: Well, I'm gonna ask you a question. I wanna ask you all a question, kind of based off of the movie, and this is a big hint if you've seen Jen: Ooh, okay. Shaun: if you've read the book or not. But how long do you think that you could stay in your house with no way to get out? It rings a bell. Okay. So how long do you Jen: Okay. It is. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Shaun: think that you could stay in your house with no way to get out of your house? Like you are in your four walls. You have everything as far as electricity, gas, water, you've got all of that, but you have no internet connection. How long do you think that you could stay in your house? Barry: I have food. Shaun: You've got whatever food you already have in your house. Yeah. Jen: Yeah, you have food. Whatever food, yeah, right now. Barry: I mean I would die eventually of starvation. What do Jen: Which I just went grocery shopping and stocked up, so Barry: you mean? I would last as long as I could. I mean, I would be okay without the internet. I would just worry about sustenance and like my nutrition. Shaun: Well how long? How long do you think? Jen: W yeah. I think a c we could last a couple months. Yeah. I've got ton of b tons Shaun: Mm. Jen: of books. We've got tons of board games. We're very big board game family. So we've got like entertainment. I wouldn't be worried about entertainment. Right. Barry: Yeah, I mean, yeah, we got board games. I mean my kids might go crazy before they act Shaun: Yeah. Barry: like the internet goes out and it's the end of the world. So they would probably die before me. I might kill 'em before, Jen: Yeah. Yeah. Struggle. I feel like we could last a few months. Shaun: Mm. Barry: you know, 'cause of the ridiculousness. Shaun: Yeah. Barry: If it gets too crazy. Jen: Okay, but honest parent thoughts though, Shaun: Okay, Lindsay. Jen: like if the end of the world happens, would what would you do? Barry: no, that is an honest parent thought. I don't know. Like my kids wouldn't go bananas. Jen: Yeah. Like would it be Shaun: They're gonna be bouncing off the walls. Jen: would it be Barry: Yo. Jen: better to cut it loose at the beginning or let them suffer through the the turmoil of the Barry: No, I wouldn't kill my kids. No. Yo, it's funny you say that. I've I don't know Shaun: God, what are we talking about? Barry: why. I was like, we were at dinner tonight and I was like, Vivi, excuse me, my youngest. Yeah, we'll bleep it. Jen: We'll bleep that. Shaun: Yeah. Barry: I was like, youngest child, if I turned into a zombie, do you think you'd kill me? And she was like, Why would you ask me that? I was like, I just need to know if you could handle yourself Jen: This wonder now. Barry: in a zombie apocalypse. And she was like Jen: Always go for the head. Shaun: That's one of those trap questions that women ask. Like Jen: It really is. Yeah. Yeah. Barry: She no, I was like, bro, I don't need no this ain't a trap. I need you to tell Jen: If I'm a zombie, you better Yep. Barry: me that you could end me if I'm trying to end you as a zombie. She was like, Well, what if I just like Shaun: If I were a worm, would you still love me? Barry: yelled, yo, this is me. You don't need to eat me, and you came snapped out Jen: I'm a zombie. I don't care. Barry: of us. Like, that's not how zombies typically work, is that there's no me left. I'm a a a mindless eating machine. She's like, I don't think I could. Shaun: You're undead. Yeah. Your brain is gone. Yeah. Jen: Mm-hmm. Barry: I was like, Well then that's not what I need to hear. Jen: That's not no, we need to do some training. It's so funny to write. Shaun: I'm gonna have to sacrifice you first. goodness. Barry: I need you to I need you to kill me if I'm trying to kill you. Jen: I feel like when I first started watching The Walking Dead, when it was first like really, really popular and I was really into it, I would have so many dreams. Yes, Barry: dude. Yeah. Yeah, you could plan for the zombie app yeah, all the things. Shaun: Mm-hmm. Jen: of like all that kind of stuff happening. So funny. Yeah. Barry: Anyways, random tangent. Shaun: No, you're good. Yeah. I I Jen: Yeah. So, anyways, Barry: But yes, I Jen: I think I could last like a few months. Basically just however long we could stretch the food. Yeah. Barry: I feel that's what it would ma it would come down to for me. I'm Shaun: Yeah. I think that that's like my Barry: assuming the movie plays on like people losing their minds because of not being able to get out. Well, you've read the book, so y'all know. Yeah, I haven't read Norseen. I'll check it out. I'll start it like tonight and maybe finish it in like five days. Yeah. Jen: not really. Shaun: Mm no, not really. Yeah. Highly recommend to watch it. Go check it out and watch it. I think that that is like an ideal scenario. In two or three weeks. Yeah. Who knows? Jen: A week. Yeah. That's so wild to me. Shaun: It's absurd. Barry: Yo, that's what why is that absurd? That's how life works, bro. Jen: It is absurd. That's for somebody that was just saying Shaun: Because it's ridiculous. A movie is meant Jen: he went into heat stroke because he doesn't like to leave things unfinished. That is a wild statement. Shaun: Exactly. Thank you. Barry: 'Cause it's a movie. You know what? The movies n the the end of the movie is not gonna change when I watch it. Shaun: That is not the way that the writers and directors have planned this all out. Jen: Intended Barry: How Jen: you to experience it. Barry: do you know, Shaun? They could care less. They're like, I'm just making up some random shit for somebody to read and watch. Shaun: Because it's a movie and not a series. Barry: What is a who cares? Shaun: If they wanted you to break it up, then they would have made thirty minute episodes and made it a series, but it's not. It's an hour and a half or two hour movie. Watch it. Just watch the movie. Jen: A single experience. Shaun: Yes. Barry: Speaking of, there's a documentary on Netflix called The Preacher's Death of a Preacher's Wife. Yo. Yo. I watched them Shaun: I wanna watch it. It's it's in my it's in my library to watch. Yeah. Jen: Ooh, okay. I haven't seen it but yeah. Barry: crazy three Jen: Wild. Barry: episodes. It's crazy Shaun: Yeah. Barry: what people will I don't even say convince themselves of, but not to give away too much, it's really based in religion and like Jen: Mm. Barry: I grew up in Christianity and my parents weren't hardcore. Like we went to church on Sundays, but Outside of that it wasn't anything. But it's just like how people can really just be molded by the Jen: Mm. Barry: things that they are just subjected to. It's crazy. I mean, facts, true. You ain't wrong. It's cra but it just Shaun: Dude, look at look at our political situation right now. What are you talking about? Yeah. Yeah. Jen: Yeah, yeah. Barry: really reminds you like you gotta be careful with religion, bro, because Shaun: Yeah. Barry: people are gonna take advantage and use it as ways to take advantage. Yep. Jen: Mm. As a weapon. Yeah. Shaun: Mm-hmm. There are there are some people that take it too far. It's almost cult like. Yeah. Barry: It was crazy. there's a lot of people that take it their crap too far, man. Jen: Yeah. Yeah. Shaun: Like once you get to the point of it's kind of like a cult, then yeah, you're that's you're Barry: huh. Shaun: you're gone down the very wrong path. Barry: Mm-hmm. Jen: Yeah. But I think that's also why it's really important. And nothing against religion or if you're a religious person Shaun: No. Jen: or anything like that. I think believe whatever. Barry: No. Everybody should be able to. Shaun: I'm a religious person. I can't even say yeah. Jen: Exactly. Exactly. Barry: Yeah. I've gotten away from it. Jen: So it's nothing to say that. But I do think no matter what situation you in, you are in, y it's so important to have like your own internal awareness of like who you are, what your values are, everything. Yes. And when people start to twist that. Barry: You still have to be yourself, yes. Use it as a tool and a resource and a guide, but not don't make it your identity. That's when it gets kind of Jen: Yes. Yes. And also be just be guarded Shaun: Yeah. Jen: and know who you are and not let people manipulate it into something that it's not, because that's how you find yourself in those situations. Which I know sometimes easier Barry: Hundred percent for sure. Yes. I would agree. Jen: said than done because sometimes people are very manipulative. They're very good at it. Barry: But again, it but and that's what me and Becca were Shaun: Mm-hmm. Barry: talking about. Like when you if you grow up in it, you don't know any different. You don't know any I don't Jen: Exactly. Barry: wanna say better, but I mean you don't know any better. Like that's what you've been taught. That's what you think the world is. When you Jen: Yeah. Yeah. Mm hmm. Yeah. Which is why Shaun: Yeah. Jen: a lot of religious people don't that's generalizing, I shouldn't say that. That is why we've seen certain religious groups not want to send their kids to college because they think it's radicalizing them and it's not, it's just yeah, it's un exactly. Exactly. Yeah. Barry: a hundred percent. It's radicalizing indoctrination. No, it's un-indoctrination and learning other things in the world. It's learning other views Shaun: Mm. Yeah. Barry: and other opinions and other religions. Like, yo, why wouldn't you want to learn all that you could? Educate yourself. Jen: Mm-hmm, mm hmm. Yeah. Yeah. Shaun: I think that's the beauty of life is that you can expose yourself to so much and Barry: Yes, yes. Shaun: make your own Jen: Mm-hmm. Shaun: informed decision of what it is that you believe, what it is that you trust, what it is that you practice. And like that's that's what it should be. You Jen: Mm. Shaun: should be able to be curious and explore Jen: Mm. Shaun: and ask questions and learn and see other things and yeah. Yeah. And then you just make the choice for yourself. Barry: Yep. It should be something that enhances your life, not restricts it or confines it. Like it should just be something that makes it better. Like Shaun: Yeah. Jen: Mm-hmm. Barry: if you wanna have that connection to God and Jesus, like have at it. Shaun: Yeah. Jen: Yeah. Barry: But it can't be an an unhealthy relationship. Shaun: Yeah. Jen: Yeah. Shaun: And everyone has to decide what it is for themselves. Like everyone gets to choose Barry: Mm-hmm. Facts. Jen: Mm. Shaun: what you do, what you believe, what you trust. Jen: Mm. Shaun: I d it's it's just like one of those things is that it should never be forced on anyone. There's there's nothing in life that should ever be forced on anyone. Yeah. Barry: No, a hundred percent. No. Nope. You should want to do it, yep. No. Jen: On somebody else. Mm-hmm. Barry: And if you choose to do it, awesome. If it Shaun: Yeah. Barry: ain't for you, awesome as well. Jen: It ain't for you and move on. Yeah. Yeah. Shaun: That ain't for you. Yeah. Barry: For sure. But no, it was crazy to watch. So highly Shaun: Yeah. Barry: recommend. Jen: We'll have to check it out. Yeah. I feel like it might be trigger warning for me. Flashbacks. Shaun: That one is already in my list. I just haven't watched it yet. Maybe. Barry: It's it's like three and a half hours total, maybe. Shaun: Okay. Barry: Not even. Like maybe two and a half. Jen: I feel like Shaun: But see Jen: that's their new format is the oops. Sorry guys. I feel like that's they won't. Listen, Shaun: They won't hear it. We heard it, but they won't hear it. Barry: No, we hear it. It's crazy in the edits. They don't hear nothing. Jen: it is what it is. But I feel like that's Netflix's new thing is the three episode. Yep. Mm hmm. Yeah. Barry: Little three part, like forty five to an hour. Yeah, it's probably Shaun: Yeah. Barry: in between two and a half, three hours up. Shaun: Because they understand people like Barry, like people who can't sit there and watch an inspired movie. People with these short ass attention spans. Barry: Yo, I will start an episode for ten minutes and come back to it two days later. It's not Jen: Lord. Mm. Barry: even about that. Yo, I got kids, bro. They be like, yo, we need to eat. Yo, we need to do this. Shaun: Your kids are self sufficient. Barry: I mean to an extent. Shaun: Your kids are old enough to be self sufficient. They're self sufficient. Barry: They are. Yeah, I would agree. Jen: Your son's not I'm not saying they can't. They just don't want to be sometimes. Because why make the sandwich when dad can make the sandwich? Barry: I didn't say they couldn't. Shaun: They just aren't sometimes. That's fair. Barry: They just aren't sometimes. But now I mean, school's starting and all that stuff. I do make a good sandwich. So you know. Shaun: You can never make a sandwich like me. Jen: I feel like a s another competition's happening and I would I g s give myself up as the judge. I will take the hit. Barry: No, I feel like that is Let's go. Yo, you don't wanna mess with my chopped sandwiches, Shaun: Okay. Barry: bro. They come off bomb. With my day old bread, bro. You better watch out. Jen: I just want free sandwiches. Shaun: Whatever God Have you ever had a chopped cheese? Like you were talking about Philly's cheese steaks, Jen: Mm. Shaun: but have you ever had a chopped cheese? Barry: I don't think so. What is a chopped cheese? Like is that a cheeseburger? Shaun: They're good. Really good. You should try it. So it it's kind of like a cheeseburger, but in Philly form, kind of. So it's Yeah. Yeah. It's it's Barry: c yeah, I probably have. Like chopped like kind of ground beef and mixed with cheese. Shaun: out of New York. Like that's something that they do it there. But yeah. Barry: Course. Shaun: Cheese, ground beef, chop it up. If you want to put lettuce, ketchup, tomato, whatever Barry: No, if I'm gonna go what? Shaun: it is that you want to put on there, you can put it on there. Barry: She's doing a Philly boxes, meat, cheese and Shaun: Not a Philly, fool. A chopped cheese. God dang. Get off your Philly. With your cheese whiz. Barry: No. I'm not I'm not doing lettuce and tomato and anything like that, bro. Jen: It's different. Shaun: You just don't know. See, this is why we can't have a competition. Like we would have to make a same, like a similar sandwich. We'd have to make like a club or like a Jen: Mm-hmm. Like same category or something. Yeah. Barry: I mean if you just wanna go toe for toe, see whose is better, that's I'm down. Shaun: or like an Italian sandwich. Hey, we can do it. We can make it happen. Dog, you don't want to cook off. Barry: Whatever you want. I ain't scared. Jen: Maybe do two categories. One is like the same sandwich. Barry: I ain't scared, bro. You have my fried chicken. I ain't scared. Shaun: I did have your fried chicken. It was me. It was good. Jen: That's true. That fried chicken was pretty good. It was pretty good. That Barry: Yeah, okay. Jen: was pretty good. Shaun: It was good. All right, we'll make it happen then. Add it to the list. It's gonna be something that we do. Yeah. Jen: added to the list. Barry: Yeah, we got a long one. We got a long one. Shaun: That's what, yeah. You gotta have a long Jen: We do. Shaun: one sometimes. But yeah. that was my week. That was what I did for my Jen: And literally it lasted the whole episode. Shaun: Yeah. Barry: Told you Shaun: no, that wasn't so I also I almost killed myself, if you can see right here. I cut myself shaving. Jen: My gosh. Shaun: That's the first time that's happened and bro do you see that? Like, slice my head open. Barry: my gosh, cut on your self sav shaving. I mean I see Jen: No, I really can't. Barry: a little he got a little scab on his head. Jen: Okay, yeah, I see it now. I yeah. Shaun: Yeah. Jen: It looked like a shadow, so I didn't even notice it really. Shaun: Yeah. Barry: when you like regularly, I see you know. You'd be right. It happens. Yeah, that's usually when it happens. Yep. Get in a hurry, Jen: Yeah. Yeah. Shaun: First time I cut myself shaving in a very long time. I was rushing, yeah. Rushing trying to get out of the house and got careless. Barry: you gotta take your time with that dome, bro. Jen: The in person behaviors. Shaun: Mm-hmm. Take your time with that pause. Barry: Noah said you're dope. What are you talking about? Shaun: You said with that dome. You gotta take your time with that dome. Do what Barry: So what I know. Yeah, bro. Jen: Mm-hmm. Shaun: you do, dog. No shade. Jen: Goofy. Shaun: Do what you do. Barry: None. Always. Shaun: But Jen, you said that you had something for us too. You said you had like a what you got? Barry: Ooh, yeah, you wanted to talk about Jen: no, I just had a thought. I was cleaning my house earlier Barry: what's that? Jen: and I just had a thought because I saw it on TikTok once and I feel like we've talked about it and about talking about it at some point, but we never did. And then I had this very thought while I was changing the like all of the small bathroom trash cans and like the one underneath my desk and stuff. And I had this thought, but what are some things that like Other people may not look at and think, that means you're rich. Like you got money. But what are but Shaun: Mm. Jen: to you especially? I mean, I don't know. We didn't grow up very wealthy. So I feel like I have a lot of things that are I'm like, that meant you were rich when I was growing up. Like if you had that in your house Shaun: so like things that we have. Jen: you have, or like you thought was like meant somebody was rich. Barry: You're saying as a younger person now that you might have and you're like, Jen: Or even now, like as an adult, is there anything that like Barry: I don't I don't feel rich, Jen, so I can't attest Jen: If you saw another person with this, you'd be like, they got money. Barry: to that side of it. I don't look around here be like, Yeah, that makes me rich. Jen: Okay, but let me tell you what triggered this thought. Shaun: Well, no I feel like most people don't look around them and be like, Man, you know what? I'm rich. But they don't think that way. They're like, this is normal life for them. Yeah. Jen: Man, I got it. Barry: Yo, if you living in some s some of these houses, I don't know why you wouldn't feel like that when you looking around. Yo, come on. You gotta know if you're rich or not, bro. Jen: that's so funny. Yeah. Yeah, probably. It's like normal for them. Okay, but I was going around changing the trash bags and I was like, when did we get it at a point in life where we switched from just using like AGB and Walmart bags as our trash can bags and we switched to actual mini trash bags for our trash cans? Yes. I was like, when did we make that switch? Did we you just Barry: like actual sized trash bags? Yo, we to be honest, we don't use trash bags. We just use whatever Shaun: That's a good point. Yeah. Barry: the bin is and if you got something that is wet or is gonna leave a stain, you put it in the main trash can. You you take yourself to the trash bag and put it in there. So I guess we're not rich, Jen. We don't have personally sized trash bags. We don't even go for the HEB bags. You put your dry goods in the regular Jen: You put in a different you walk your butt over there. That's really funny. Also, he said we don't even go for the H E B bags. So funny. Shaun: Mm. Well, that's a good point. I mean Barry: trash can or in the non trash Bag trash bins and you put the wet stuff in the bag. In the main one. Jen: Put your wet things Heard. Shaun: In the main. Yeah. Jen: Heard. Shaun: Actually I have simple human like all of my trash cans are simple human and they all have their own specialized bag and I order those bags. And Jen: Yeah. Only our kitchen only our kitchen Barry: Yo, that stuff's expensive, bro. Jen: trash can is a simple human one with the special trash bags. Barry: See, y'all rich. Y'all Shaun: Yeah. And that's Barry: rich. Look at that. Shaun: another one. Like my you can you can talk to my trash can. So that's that's another one. Jen: Hey, ours isn't that fancy. Barry: That's a rich person thing. My trash never ever had a trash can I could talk to. Jen: What do you say to it, Shaun? Shaun: You can tell you Barry: Open Shaun: can yeah, you can say open can, you can say close can, you can say stay open. So like if you're gonna be doing something, you can say open can, stay open, and it'll stay open. Jen: That's cute or whatever. Yeah, no, mine's Barry: Is it connected Jen: not that fancy, but maybe. Barry: to your Alexa? Can you can can you talk to it from Shaun: Uh-uh. Barry: far away? Shaun: No. Well, I can talk to like if I were to well, my door is closed right now, but if I were to open my door, it would hear me if I were to say it. That's not a rich person thing. Some example doesn't Okay, so we know that I'm not rich. That's let's get that out of the way right now. Because I don't have kids or a girl, so that's why I have disposable income. Because nah. Barry: That's crazy. That's a rich person thing. There you go. That's an example. There you go, Jen. If you have a trash can you can talk to, you rich. Jen: They're always listening. Mm-hmm. That's a good example. That is a good example. You up there. You got that disposable income. You can talk to your trash can. Okay. So you really rich rich Like you got it. Barry: You got that disposable income you could talk to your trash can. You real, you single person rich, bro. It's all you all you all the time, fool. Good for you. All and who whoever, it don't even matter. Shaun: Exactly. And I'm gonna stay single person rich. Yeah. I can spend whatever I want on me without having to say anything to anybody. Jen: He g he got it. Yeah. Shaun: Yes. Jen: That's so funny. So funny. Shaun: but what else were you gonna you were about to say something else too? Jen. Jen: Who me? Barry: What you said so you hers was the trash bags. That's what made her she's she said not using HEB bags anymore. Jen: Mine was the trash backs thing. It's just what made me trigger the thought. Shaun: the trash box, okay. Barry: I don't again, I don't know. Shaun: That I have? Jen: That you have or just when you were growing up you thought this meant people were rich rich? Barry: One thing I that would I think would like make me feel rich if I had a turnstile driveway that would turn around so I didn't have to turn that bitch around. That would make me feel rich. I don't know. That's the first thing that popped in my brain. I was like, if I was super rich, what would Shaun: Well of course that. If you have a turnstile driveway, then yeah. Jen: Right. I f That's that would definitely mean that. Barry: be the ultra convenience? The turnstile driveway. Jen: That would mean that. Shaun: True. Jen: That's so funny. Shaun: I mean, I feel like it's incredibly commonplace now, but as a kid, I thought that like you made it if you had this. But the refrigerator that has the ice and the water in the door, like that was a big one. Like I thought that like, that's fancy. But now it's like every you it's hard to find them without it. Yeah. Jen: Yeah. Mm-hmm. That was a big one. Yeah. Everybody. Mm hmm. Yeah. Barry: I could agree with that. Now that's just common. I feel I feel like that's right. The one that doesn't have I mean, we don't. Again, y'all, I'm telling y'all, I'm not rich, bro. I just got regular shit. Shaun: You're rich, you just don't use it. Barry: Hop dot. Our Jen: that's too funny. Barry: ice you gotta scoop it out the bottom in the freezer, bro. Ain't no ain't no thing on the door. Shaun: So that's the funny thing. I have the ice built into Jen: it's so funny. Shaun: my door. I scoop it ninety nine point nine percent of the time. Yeah. I scoop it. So Jen: percent of the time. Mm mm. Barry: No, bro. Give me the scoop ice. No, I do appreciate people that have the door ice. I do feel better or like less than when I go to the I'm like, damn, they got this they got that door ice, bro. God damn. How do I get to this level? It does. Especially if you want to crush. Like what? Taking it to that next Jen: Yeah. They got the ice in the door, babe. It just hits different. Ooh, mm hmm. Shaun: Ha ha ha Yes. Get that. Barry: level, bro. Jen: Yeah. Shaun: Or yeah, or if you get the ones that have like the the big Jen: The fancy ice. Shaun: yeah, the big cubes or even like the spheres. Yeah. Mm-hmm. Barry: what if you have the built in Brita water pitcher that comes off the door? You see them joints? Jen: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Yep. Shaun: The ones that you can knock on and you can see what's in it without even opening the door. Jen: See inside. Barry: Bruh, that's too much. Like, why? Why do we need all that? Open the damn door and look at what's in your fridge. Like, what are we Shaun: Save electricity. Barry: doing? Come on. You don't think it takes more electricity Jen: Yeah. Stare at your fringe and indecision with it closed. Barry: to have a a a door that disappears? Shaun: No. No. Barry: What do you think is powering the door to cover itself? Bruh, y'all crazy. Y'all crazy. Jen: Yeah, but not nearly as much, yeah. Shaun: A light that's like this big compared to a fan that's having to work harder to blow air to keep your stuff cold while you have the door open. It's like. Jen: Mm. I agree. Barry: All the Wi Fi and things you need to connect and talk to these things, you're really saving energy, Shaun. That's what they've convinced you of, sir. Shaun: Mm. Whatever guy. Jen: Well, call me indoctrinated. Shaun: It's all good. Right? Barry: That sounds like it. Shaun: What else? Barry: Y'all bought into the dream. Jen: Yeah. Barry: Okay, speaking of dreams, this is my thing. Y'all Shaun: I mean, I don't know. I can't really think of anything else. Jen: Ooh, okay. Ooh, okay. Barry: know me, I'm a little out there on some things. Shaun: Yes. On some things, on most Jen: Let me mentally prepare. Barry: Okay, before we dive into this, I sent Shaun: things. god. Barry: Shaun something and I want to get Jen's opinion. I'm glad Jen is here actually. Let's talk about this. Jen: Ooh. Okay. Shaun: What did you send me? Barry: I might save the the other thing for next time. So Jen: Okay. Barry: I've seen a couple different probably other podcasts. I sent Shaun a clip on the 520 morning podcast. Jen: Mm-hmm. Barry: Okay, Jen. If let's say Kenny was rolling in it, right? He found the the best job in the world, manifest it. Jen: Manifestation. Mm. Barry: And he was like, Jen, I don't want you to work no more. Jen: No. Barry: You don't wanna you would work? Jen: Mm-hmm. I would do something. My Barry: Okay, so Jen: my body does not do well. My mental does not do well if I'm not doing anything. Shaun: That's very different though, because I Barry, finish what you were gonna say because Jen, I think that you could just do other things to keep you busy. Like I I could see you volunteering at like a children's library or something like that, and you'd be like, Yeah. Yeah. Barry: So this is where it goes. Yes, right. Yeah, do that. Something that would make you fulfilled, but not necessarily Jen: Okay. Yeah. Barry: that you would have to get paid for. You could do that in this. That's a great point, Shaun. If you didn't have to work, right? Let's say Kenny was Jen: Okay. Mm-hmm. Barry: making like $50,000 a month. Like an ungodly amount of money to me. A Jen: Okay. Barry: month. $50,000 a month was his net like take home. And he was like, I don't want you to have to work anymore. Find something that that you want to do with your time that you can volunteer and do as you want. Jen: Okay. Barry: What would your what would you want your allowance to be? To live the life you want to live without having to worry about anything? Do you think five thousand dollars would be enough for you for him just to hand you? Jen: Mm, first of all. First of all, Barry we need to back that hoe up because who the hell do we think is giving anybody an allowance? I am not a child. You are not Shaun: What Jen: giving me an allowance. We are married. Absolutely not. Allowance? Yes. A hundred percent. Barry: Jids go completely r off the rails. I like it. Shaun: Come on. so you're saying what's his is yours? okay. Barry: Yes. So you wouldn't you wouldn't even limit yourself to his fifty thousand a month. If he covered all Jen: No. Barry: the bills and you were like, I just need this chunk of change to like you don't have to worry about me. I'm gonna live me. I'm gonna get my hair did. Jen: No, because that would be a decision that we made together in our marriage. And if Shaun: Yeah, yeah. Jen: I, if he is saying this is what he would like, and then I'm saying, yeah, you know what, I agree as well. And I think it could provide me with other opportunities to do more volunteer work or whatever, like that's what we're deciding as a unit. I would never give up my ability to be self-sustaining if it wasn't a mutual decision. So I'm not giving up my money so that you can then Give me pieces of yours. what is we are in this together, baby boo. What's mine is yours, what's yours is mine. Shaun: See, Jen's too logical for this. Jen: Absolutely not. Barry: No. Okay, so you're saying you wouldn't want a limit. You would just be able to spend what you want to spend. Jen: No. And if it ever came to that, then I wouldn't stop working. Like if it was I now control the money and like I he would never, but like if that was ever the dynamic shift, one, we'd probably be talking divorce. But also, I wouldn't choose that because never am I gonna put myself in a situation that somebody else is controlling how much money I have in my life. No. Shaun: Kenny got him a good Barry: Why would that? Shaun: one. Barry: I was gonna say I'm okay with that thought process. Jen: Mm. Shaun: Yeah. Barry: I really am. Cause the videos I saw, I was not okay with. These chicks Jen: Hmm. Why? What did they say? Barry: so that's what these dudes are like, would five thousand be enough? Like for you just to live the life you wanted? And these chicks were like, Jen: Uh-huh. Barry: I don't think that would be enough. Like I get need to get my hair done. I need to get my nails done on the weekly. Like I wanna travel, I wanna buy clothes for travel. They were like, I would need Shaun: I wanna go on trips. I wanna do all these other things. Yeah. Barry: like at least ten G's. I'm like, yo, go and to your point. If that's the lifestyle you want to live, go work. Cause that sounds like you need to fund your own life. If you couldn't live Jen: Go yeah. Do what you gotta do to get it. I mean Shaun: Mm-hmm. Barry: off 10 G's a month. Five G's a month. Yo, if somebody handed me five G's a month that was like Jen: I'm just shocked that most women answered that. Barry: live your life, I'd like, Bet. Shaun: I I think that that's more. Like if you were to take five thousand dollars, that's that's sixty thousand dollars a year. I think that's more Barry: Like if you had no bills to do what you want. Shaun: than what the average American makes on an annual basis. Barry: Yes. On Jen: no, yeah. The the average Barry: an individual. Yeah, it's an I think it's like 39. I think it's like close to 40, but it's still not near sixty thousand dollars to to pay bills Jen: I think is only like thirty five if you average out the is it higher? Hmm. Not an no, it surely isn't sixty. Shaun: That's yeah, that's absolutely insane. A significant amount more. Barry: and a mortgage and all the things you're Jen: Yeah. Barry: supposed to be able Shaun: Mm-hmm. Barry: to afford, which I still think is unrealistic of today's economy as well. But Shaun: That's very unrealistic, yeah. Barry: even then, sixty thousand dollars tax free net take home to do what Jen: To just do whatever you wanna do with. Barry: you wanted. These chicks like, nah, I would need at least double that. Shaun: Not enough. Jen: Wild. Barry: That's what what dude what was they, PJ on the five twenty was like, Take your ass back to work then if that's what I was like, for real, bro, preach. Jen: Yeah. But I I don't know. I have oof. I feel like we're gonna dive off the deep end and maybe I'm gonna put my foot in my mouth. People are gonna hate it. These are my oil. Shaun: Nah, go ahead and do it. Cause these hoes ain't worth it. Go ahead and say what you're about to Barry: Yo, if somebody was like, Yeah, it's five ain't enough, I'm like, Well Shaun: say. Barry: then we we wanna have to figure something else out, bro. Jen: But see, this is my thought. And then I think it'll be good to hear like y'all's perspective on it. Because I do think yof. We'll see. so I feel like guys in this situation who like logistically, let's say they make buckoo bucks, they want a woman to be with them and whatever, they do have very high standards of what they want that woman to look and be like. And if you want that woman to look and be like that, you do need to be able to fund that. And upkeep is not cheap, procedures Barry: I mean, I'm I I could see that too if that's the mentality Jen: are not cheap, designer clothes things are not cheap. So if you're wanting her to maintain that look in that thing, that's on you, if that's what you want her to do. But that is an Shaun: I would agree with that. Jen: again, I feel like that's an agreement between two people. Exactly. If the expectation Barry: I guess I don't have that expectation of my person. Shaun: That's the thing. Yeah. Jen: is not that she does all of that and upkeeps and like Barry: Yo, I mean honestly I like girls that are just naturally pretty. Like I don't Jen: maintains that persona, then yeah, no. Barry: like a lot of the makeup and the f the lashes and the f the hair and like yo, just be natural, bro. Jen: Mm hmm. But I feel like that's very not common when you get to that level. For whatever reason. Shaun: It's not. And here's the here's the thing. So it it it comes down to who you are as a person. Because if Jen: Mm. Shaun: you as a person do want the the fake, the the facade of this of this Jen: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Barry: Sad, that's a good way to put it. Shaun: incredible, gorgeous woman who chooses you and wants to be your everything and like she's like driving the fancy car and going shopping Jen: Mm-hmm. Shaun: and stuff like that. If that's what you want, yes, you absolutely. need to pay for it. But Jen: Need to fund that. Yeah. Shaun: if you want just a real chick to be with you and someone who does actually care for you and someone who does want to be with you, then I think like you said, partnership. Like it's all about Jen: Mm. Shaun: like how can we make this work to where we can make decisions with each other, even if he is making tons of money and she's like, okay, well I want to stay at home and take care of the kids and the house and do whatever it is. Or even Jen: Mm. Barry: That's the thing with these chicks, they weren't even talking about that. They were like, This is just my lifestyle. I was like, that's bonkers to me. But again, I guess I've never been in that mentality, so Shaun: E yeah, even if you don't have kids. Yeah. Yeah. That that's that's where at what Jen: Yeah. But also Shaun: point and this is about ho this might this might piss some people off, but Barry: Say it Piss 'em off. Jen: Ha ha say what you chest. Shaun: at what point does it become prostitution? Jen: Oof. Barry: Yeah, it's Jen: That's a real thing though. Shaun: Like because because if you are like, okay, this d because that's all you ever see on social media nowadays is like, he needs to Jen: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Shaun: make a million dollars a year. He needs yeah, all these other things. Barry: he needs to be six two, make a million, be ripped, and provide me all Jen: Mm-hmm. What's that that sound? Six five blue eyes. Finance. I'm looking for a guy in finance. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. But that's again, I think that Barry: this. There you go. That's it. Shaun: Yeah. Yes. So like at what point does it become that you're just selling yourself for the money? Yeah. Like at what where's the line? Barry: It's it it is. It's security for money, bro. Mm-hmm. Jen: factor changes how I would respond or answer the question too. Is am I already in a committed relationship, in a marriage where we've been together? Barry: Yeah, it was marriage. Or th that was Shaun: Yeah. Barry: the ones that I've seen. Jen: We've been through the hard stuff and the not making money and we've built this up together, this life together, because of choices that we've made to get there. That's that's how I would view Kenny and ours Kenny and I's situation if that ever happened. If it was I met Kenny, yeah. So then I Barry: Yeah, we came into this with nothing in our bags, bro. Let's build our bags together. Jen: would say, what's mine is yours, what's yours is mine. Like this Barry: Yeah. Jen: is agr an agreement that we will figure out together, but like that's that's something we built together. If it's a situation where Like this is a new relationship that's just starting out and I'm just meeting Kenny and he's loaded. I think that's a different story. Barry: Yo, we about to be eating what a burger, bro. Jen: I feel like it's a different I do think people with money have to go about dating differently because there are so many people out there that are just in it for the money. And you have to be guarded and careful if that's what you want. If you just want somebody to be a reflection of you and your high lifestyle and whatever, and that's what you're looking for, great. more power to you, be ready to fund that. But don't complain when she's asking for more than five thousand dollars a month. If you're wanting her to maintain a certain lifestyle and that's what she needs, give her that. That's what you're Shaun: The only Jen: asking for. Shaun: the only problem with that though is I don't think that it's only people who have money Jen: I can't hear you, Shaun. Shaun: though. You can't hear me? Barry: Say what? I can hear him. Jen: I can't hear you either. Shaun: What? Did you mute me? Barry: man, Jen. Shaun: Damn, Jen, you got that mad at me, you muted me or something? Barry: Is she losing power again? Shaun: her power's about to go out. Jen: Mm. Barry: It's a TikTok shop, bro. It's that TikTok shop. Shaun: I don't think she can hear anything at this point. TikTok shop. She definitely can't hear it because Barry: The Shaun: she's not responding. Jen: What is happening right now? Shaun: She knows that we're talking she knows we're talking crap though. No, I have not touched anything. Barry: this is so good. No. Me and Shaun can hear each other. Jen: Did you mute my speakers or something? What? Shaun: Okay, now you're not muted. Jen: Think said you're done now. Barry: TikTok shot, bro. Jen: What the F? Shaun: Let's text yep, it just flickered. I think she's Barry: Says she's recording on a new track. Shaun: Yeah. Jen, her power's about to go out. Jen: Even when I switch to my speaker, it's not. Shaun: TikTok she got TikTok Shop internet Jen: Good change. Shaun: too? Bro, I Barry: Dang Shaun: didn't even know you could do that. That's that new new. I didn't even know you could get that on TikTok shop. Jen: I got nothing Barry: Got nothing. Jen: Hold on. Shaun: You ain't got five on it? Bro, I saw this video of a band, like a like a college band playing that. it put me, it put me in in the mood Jen: Okay, I'll leave him. Shaun: for for college football. I'm so ready for it. Jen, can you hear us now? Nope. We'll have to see what what that looks like. Barry: See what happens. Shaun: But dog, so okay. UT is playing your or one of your I I guess one of your alma maters this weekend. Barry: Was UTSA? they're gonna they should Shaun: They're playing U T S A? Yeah. Who you got? Who you got? Barry: not UTSA. Shaun: It'll be a good warm up game for Ohio State. Because I play Ohio State on the twelfth. Barry: That's you need I would go tougher than UTSA, bro. Yeah. Shaun: Na you get you gotta get that confidence builder. Barry: Nah, bro. You need somebody to give you good little some kind of a test. that's but then you feel overconfident, like yo, we just smacked around UTSA. What we Shaun: Just go out there and smack somebody around for forty points and then Barry: ready for? And then you go in Ohio State and be like, damn, we weren't ready. Shaun: We we're gonna go on the horseshoe and shut Ohio State down. Barry: Ooh. Shaun: can you hear us now? Hey. What up? Shahade. Yeah, she got that. We were saying you got that TikTok Jen: I can hear you now. I don't know what happened. Barry: Instead TikTok Shop. TikTok shop. Shaun: shop internet now too. Jen: Leave me and my TikTok shop stuff alone, okay? Barry: Anyways Shaun: But anyway, yeah, so you're a very logical thinker. Barry: I get what you're saying. If it is if I'm projecting that lifestyle, but I guess I would never project that lifestyle. Jen: Yeah. Shaun: Yeah. Jen: Yeah. Barry: Like 'cause I don't k like I don't I don't know. I just it makes me think of this I don't know if it some type of TikTok or what's called Instagram video. Jen: Influencer. Barry: No, it's like a I don't know if it's real, but I don't even know which one's real anymore if it's AI, but it's like this chick in another country walks up to dude. She's like, Who's prettier, men or women? And he was like Jen: Women. Barry: he like looks at himself and days like, Of course men. And she was like, Why? And he had a bottle of water in his hand and he like poured some in his hand and he goes, You do that. And it's true, bro. Like, Jen: Yikes. Yikes. Barry: I want a natural person. I want you Shaun: Yeah. Barry: to look pretty when you don't have makeup on. And not I Jen: I hear you. Barry: don't need to look at a different person when you do have makeup on. That's just the way I see it. Jen: Yeah. Shaun: I feel like there and Jen, you can tell me if I am wrong with saying this, but like me and Barry, like we're we're pretty similar in this realm of like Jen: Mm. Shaun: women and like what our thoughts are. Jen: Mm-hmm. Shaun: Like if you are natural, no makeup, sweatpants, shirt, just chilling. That is the most yes, that is the most attractive that a woman can be. Like just straight up chill, messy hair, just be you. Barry: Bruh, that's the sexiest shit ever. Yes. Yes. Just be you boo. Be you boo. I don't need the fakeness. I don't need the makeup. I don't need Shaun: Yes, said Jen: And I don't I don't know. I Barry: none of that, bro. Shaun: Yes. Jen: I think y'all are not the common case in I'm really glad we reiterated that for you. Barry: I I do think I am exceptional, so I appreciate you pointing that out, Jen. Thanks. Shaun: Yes, this guy. Goodness. We are we are the exception to the rule, I think a lot. Jen: Yeah, I don't but but really, yeah, you I do think you are the exception. I don't think that that is the all around standard that people actually think. Barry: Just A, I think it is. I don't I personally A, I don't I'm not attracted to that, but B, I don't intend to ever pay for somebody to keep up with that. If that's something they wanted and they bought into the relationship and that's something Jen: Yeah. Yeah. Barry: that mattered to them and that's what I you know, then cool. That's what you want to do. Jen: Go for it. Mm-hmm. Barry: And again, if you're going to fund that, I don't want Jen: Yeah. Barry: it. I don't I don't want to say I don't want it. I don't care about it. Like Jen: Mm-hmm. Shaun: And that's not saying that you shouldn't do it. If you if it makes you feel good and it gives you that confidence boost and makes you feel that you are like Barry: No. No, and that's a thing. Exactly. Hundred percent if yes. Jen: Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Shaun: you're looking the way that you want to go out and look, by all means, baby, girl, do it. Yes. Do what gives you that confidence that you want. Yes. Barry: Live your life. Live your life. Be you, boo. If that's you, then be you. like I just Jen: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Barry: said, a hundred percent. But yes. Shaun: Yeah. So if you wanna do your nails, if you wanna do your hair, if you wanna go out and have a spa day, by all means do it. And yeah, I might treat you to that every once in a while because Barry: Every now and again. Jen: Mm. Shaun: yeah, because I care about you and I want you to be able to enjoy those types of things. Barry: that's one of my go to's for Becca for her like Mother's Day, her Jen: Yeah. Barry: birthday. Like, yo, Shaun: Yes, Barry: here's a two hour massage. Jen: Mm-hmm. Barry: Go do you. Shaun: Yes. But when it comes Jen: Yeah. Barry: But I'm not doing that shit on a monthly or a weekly guaranteed. Shaun: down to giving you five, ten thousand dollars a month, can't do it. Can't do it. Yeah. Jen: Yeah. yeah, no. Mm-mm. This Shaun: Yeah. Jen: is why I stopped dyeing my hair. It's too pricey. You won't. Shaun: This is why I'll be single forever. Cause all Barry: Yo. Shaun: all or I okay, I shouldn't generalize like that. Yeah, shouldn't do that. Most Barry: Don't speak in generalities, bro. A lot's a good majority. Jen: Yeah. Shaun: the majority of like single people that you see nowadays are that. Are that video that you see out there? Like, what can you give me? Yeah. Jen: But again, I think it's projection. I think it's I I I Barry: And it might be. Mm-hmm. Jen: think it is the standard Yeah. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Barry: It's a lot of the media and the social media and it is those Shaun: Yeah. Barry: un those facade, like you said, Shaun. Jen: Yeah. Barry: It's a facade. Shaun: Yeah. Barry: Like people want you to think that this is them. I don't know, man. It's a lot to keep up a facade, bro. Like, Jen: Yeah. It it exactly. And it plays into what we have with social media. Mm-hmm. Shaun: Mm-hmm. Barry: why I don't understand it. Like if you don't like me You live your life, bro. You do Jen: Yeah, it's too much energy. Yeah. Barry: you, let me be me, and we can go our separate ways. Like, Jen: Yeah. Barry: I don't know, man. Shaun: Yeah. Could not care Jen: Yeah. Yeah. Shaun: less, honestly. It's impossible to care less. You wish you could? Really? Yeah, right. Barry: No. I couldn't. Jen: I wish I could care less. I wish I could care less, but yeah. I think that I don't. I've definitely Barry: Just maybe maybe I should care more. I don't know. Maybe Jen: gotten much less caring, Barry: maybe the the joke's on me. Jen: but yeah. Barry: I don't know. I mean but when you look this good, what are you gonna do, bro? Jen: Low. I was waiting for it to pop out somewhere. Shaun: God, this guy. Well, so I have a I have a question kind of along those lines. and kind of along what Jen was asking too. The world of social media, like everyone has like their appearances that they keep up, and everyone wants Jen: Mm. Shaun: to do this and this and blah blah blah, whatever. We come from much simpler times because we are of the millennial age. So we grew up in the eight late 80s, Jen: Woo boo. Shaun: 90s, and things like that. If you were to say what is one thing from like that pre social media world, like the one thing that we we had or we did, if you could bring that back, what would it be? I think mine would be that Friday night movie night. Like going to like Blockbuster or Hollywood video or whatever it is, picking out a movie, getting snacks, getting popcorn, getting like pizza or something like that, coming home Jen: Mm. Getting your snacks. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Shaun: and like everybody like chilling out for that one night, watching a movie and doing something. Jen: Yep. Yep. Barry: That's dope Shaun: That's what mine would be. Jen: Yep. So Barry: that's tough, man. Jen: you're gonna come over on Friday for Friday Night Movie Day? Barry: Still invitation for the child movies, bro. Shaun: Is your is your is your power gonna work? Jen: Hey, I think we're gonna watch Shaun: Shocking. Jen: what did we watch last time? we did watch Toy Story 5 again last last week. It's Shaun: Dang and yeah, see I haven't seen it. Barry: was it already on streaming? Jen: it's on streaming. You still have to rent it, but it is on streaming now. You're so funny. But no, there was another one that we were gonna watch. I think we were gonna do Supergirl, actually. You're such a goop. It's free. That's so funny. No, we did that. Barry: yeah, I'll refuse. I'll wait. Shaun: It's all about the principle with Barry. Barry: Yep. I'm already paying for your service. I'm gonna wait till that service is is in the price that I'm paying. I don't need to rent from you, bro. If I'm gonna rent, that's Shaun: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Barry: silly to me. If I can purchase it ahead of time, I might splurge. But if I'm renting for two days, y'all can kiss my ass. Jen: Yeah, they have a no, they have a purchase option too. Shaun: Yeah. Barry: Nah. If I could buy Jen: You're so funny. Barry: it, I'll buy it. Some, very few. Very few. Jen: Depending on the movie. Yeah. Depending on the movie. Shaun: Yeah. It has to be a movie that I'm really committed to. And that's the thing with Barry: It's like that we really want to see. Jen: Yeah. Yeah. Shaun: digital licensing. It can always be taken away from you. You you're not technically buying the media. Yeah, you're just buying the rights to watch it for as long as they want you to watch it. It can always be taken away. But that's a whole nother rabbit hole. Ridiculous. Jen: Yep. Yep. Barry: Exactly. No, you don't own it. Mm-hmm. To watch it. Mm-hmm. Yeah, I know. Jen: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Learned that with my audiobooks with Audible, because we I pay for the Audible subscription. Barry: Mm. Jen: And so you can buy the books with credit, but you're not actually buying them. Like they could take them away at any point in time. Shaun: By physical media. Jen: Yeah. Barry: Did you know that Spotify has books too? That are included in the premium membership? Jen: Uhhuh. Mm-hmm. But it's only ten hours of listening a month. So sometimes they make me wait and I don't like that. Barry: I mean, for a person like me, bro, that ain't no problem. Jen: It usually is a problem for me and I don't like it. Barry: Ten hours of listening to a book a month? Sure. Shaun: She's like I can do that in two days. Jen: Literally, I hate it. Barry: Nah, bro. Jen: But I do stop there in Libby first to see if if I'm gonna Shaun: Yeah. Jen: listen to a book because I wanna Barry: If it's there. Jen: try the free option before I use my audible credits. Shaun: My Libby expired. Sucks. I need to figure that out. Barry: I miss like slumber parties. I saw that was always my jam, bro. Jen: Mm. And it's so funny 'cause I'm so against them as a parent. Like my kids are never going to sleep over. Yeah. Barry: Yo, they're the worst as a parent because you got other Shaun: Really? Really? Barry: people's kids in your house that act a fool. Their norms aren't your norms, and it is very apparent sometimes. So 100% agree, Jen. I loved them as a kid, hate them as a parent. if Shaun: Yeah, that's true. If they don't have home training then Yeah. Mm. Jen: Yeah. It's a no go for me. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It is a no go for me. Yes. Same. Same. Barry: you want to have my kid, sure. Take them. Have them for a night. Jen: Mm-hmm. Take No. Even then I'm not like that. I'm against them all around as a parent. Nope. Absolutely not. Barry: Nah, I don't mind them going to other people's houses. As long as it's somebody that I'm cool and trust. Shaun: Ha ha Yeah. Someone I know and trust and I've known them for a long Barry: Yeah. Sometimes it is scary. Yeah. Shaun: time. Barry: Sometimes it is scary sending them. They're like, man, so and so. I wanna go like I don't know. I don't know their parents, bro. I don't know about that one. I don't know where I'm sending you. Yep, exactly. Yo, bro, it's crazy. You become your parents, bro. I don't know them. I don't know them. Hundred percent, bro. Jen: Yeah. Uh-uh, no. Nope. Yeah. I don't know them. I don't know their life. I don't know what they do. Nope. Mm-mm. Shaun: Yeah. Mm-hmm. You also are like Mama. Like growing up. it's like those, what is it, progressive Jen: Listen, it is what it is. It is what it is. Shaun: commercials? Like you become your parents or whatever. Barry: Yeah, Bo, you become your parents. It ain't wrong. Jen: that's so funny. Mm-mm. Shaun: gosh. Man. Barry: It ain't wrong, bro. So nah, I would say that. Like that was always my big thing for my birthday. Jen: Sleepovers. That's a good one. Barry: We used to have like we would get Pizza Hut, play Jen: Mm. Barry: video games. Shaun: Yeah. Can we also talk about how much better Pizza Hut or just food in general, like takeout food, how much better it was back then? Yeah. Jen: Was back then. Yeah, for sure. Barry: quality mattered back then. Now it's just about sending you some crap that they can sell. Mm-hmm. And put it on a pizza, bro. Mm-hmm. Yo, pizza prices Shaun: Yeah, what's the cheapest shit that we can buy and put it in a box and give it to you? Yeah, and charge you forty dollars for it. Jen: Mm-hmm. And put it on our shelves. Yeah. Barry: are ridiculous. Shaun: Yeah. huh. Jen: Hmm. I think Barry: Yeah, no. Jen: something that it's so funny too, because I love my millennial gray. If you've if you've seen my house, it's very gray. Shaun: Hmm. Jen: but I think something that I would want to bring back, especially for my kids, is like the color of Shaun: Mm-hmm. Jen: in the you don't know what I'm talking about, Barry? Shaun knows what I'm talking about. Like everything has is so washed out. Taco Bell, Shaun: Barry, you have to know you have to know. Everything is grey and white and yeah. Jen: McDonald's, like everything is so. Barry: like the old school like style of restaurant. I get you. McDonald's used to be a lot different. yeah, bro. Yeah. They had the yeah. Yeah. Yeah, the right on a hamburgler and and grimace and all them. I do remember. no, no. Now it's trying to get you in and out, bro. It ain't about staying and having a good time. They want you in and Jen: Yeah yeah. Shaun: Yeah. Like you remember like the the McDonald's with the play place and they had like the animals and stuff out there? Yeah. Jen: In the in the ball pit and yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It was yeah. Mm. Mm mm. Shaun: Yeah. Everything had so much color. Yeah. Barry: out so they can get your money and you on your way to the next one, bro. That's all it is. Jen: Yeah. Yeah. Barry: It's a cash grab. That's all that's all it is, bro. Shaun: But it sucks. Jen: Yeah. Barry: it does. I agree. Yo, you going to McDonald's Shaun: It was life was so much better back then, I feel like. Jen: It was Barry: now and you don't even Jen: simpler. Barry: like you you order on a machine, bro. You don't even talk to people until they unless they hand you your food. Dunkin the same way. Very minimal communication. Here you go, number 87. Jen: Yeah, you mm. Yep. And even then it's minimal communication. Like they just Shaun: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Jen: Ay. Barry: Did you need ketchup? Jen: Did you need condiments? And most of the time they don't even do that. They just show you the little tray they have. Yeah. Yeah. Mm-hmm. That's ten cents each, thanks. Yeah. Yeah. Hmm. Shaun: they're gonna charge you for it. Yeah. You have to order it. Barry: There it's over there somewhere. It's yeah, or you gotta pay for it. you need the barbecue sauce, that'll be extra fifty cents, bro. I'm like, Well, I ain't wanted that much, bro. No, bro. It's crazy. Shaun: Nickel and Dominar buddy. Yeah. Barry: But no, those are good ones. Shaun: I had that thought. Like just thinking about like Jen: Hm, trying to think of anything else. Shaun: riding your bikes around town, like going to do things. Yeah. Jen: Yeah. Yeah. Barry: Yeah, we used to be out all times, bro. Shaun: Like I remember I grew up in the country. So we used to go like craw fishing. Like we used to fish for like crawfish and stuff like that. Like that was super fun. Like Yeah. That's what you were expected to. Like you were expected to be outside. Yeah. Don't Jen: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. I feel like we were just feral little kids. Like we did so much that I would never allow my children to do. Yeah. Yes. Yeah. Barry: we were. Yo, yo, we used to just go like two miles around town. Yeah, bro. It wasn't no. Shaun: don't be like they used to always tell me, don't be going in and out my house. Barry: Nope. Either in or out. Pick one. Pick one. That's it. Mm-hmm. Yeah, we Jen: Yes. Like you're out. Yes. Yes. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Shaun: You're in or you're out. If you're out, stay out. If you're in, come in. Like drinking from a water hose, like that was that was the best. Yes. Out there like Jen: Mm-hmm. I can still taste it. Barry: Old nostalgia, bro. Shaun: playing basketball or football or something like that, you Jen: Yeah. Shaun: get thirsty, you're not going in the house. You're going to the water Barry: No. Shaun: hose and you're drinking from that. Just a different time, Jen: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Barry: Yeah. Shaun: man. Barry: It was, man. It was. Jen: It was a very different time. Shaun: dial up internet. That was crazy. Jen: Okay, I've got another one. And maybe this was just a my millennial generation. But before like texting and things were because you didn't have cell phones as kids and stuff like that, you used to write notes to each other and fold them up like a football. And then then you do the little Yeah, Barry: Mm. Well, different folds, yes. Shaun: Yeah. Jen: yeah, you would fold them however you wanted to. Barry: I do remember that. Yep. I do remember that. Jen: And you would pass notes to each other in class and get get in trouble. That was fun. That was Shaun: Yeah. Jen: a fun time. Shaun: I remember I could never start the note. Like it always had to come from someone else first because they would fold it as an envelope. Well, no, but that is kind of it tracks. It tracks for sure. Jen: That's very you. That's very t trends. Yeah. For sure. Shaun: But cause I couldn't do the fold. Like it would it used to be like an envelope and it had like the little tip that like folded inside of the other side of it. I didn't know how to do it. So I would just follow the folds when I sent it back. No. Jen: that's funny. Barry: What? bro, I love folding things. Yeah, yeah, that's the best one, bro. Yeah, I used to do all like that. The heart. Do you know how to fold the heart? Jen: Uhhuh, yeah, yeah. Yeah. Mm-hmm. yeah, mhm. Yeah. Barry: Yo, I was a fold. I love folding. I still love folds. Shaun: I was not an origami kind of a kid. Jen: So funny. Shaun: Couldn't do it. I would write and I would I would I would send it back to you, but I couldn't start it. But damn, Jen, just call me out. That is very that Barry: Origami was jam, bro. Shaun: is very much on on trend for me. Man. Jen: Sorry. On brand. On brand. Barry: Good times. Shaun: Yes. Jen: The nostalgia. Shaun: Mm-hmm. Back when back when Netflix came on a disc to your house. It was crazy. Yeah. Like Redbox and stuff like that. Red box and Blockbuster came out with the blue box. They had it for a while. Yeah. But it didn't work. Yeah. Jen: Hey. I remember when that first came out and they had those yeah, those machines and stuff. Like that was Yep. Mm-hmm. Yep. Barry: Yo. Yeah, that was a big deal. Mm-hmm. Outside the gas stations and stuff. yeah, Redbox. Mm-hmm. They tried to. They tried. Jen: They tried, yeah, but it didn't yeah. Barry: Sorry, Blockbuster. Yeah.
