- Nate: Tonight on the North American Friends Movie Club. Four women. Three bank robberies. And 650 squibs. We watched the 1996 American crime action film Set It Off. So slip into your bank robin wig. And grab as much money as you can. Because we're the most professional crew in podcasting. And this show is our stolen getaway car. Ha This is what it sounds like when we do a podcast. We're currently doing one. This is the North American Friends Movie Club, and you might notice something about the name of our show. And that's Friends Comes Before Movie Club. Because it's simply more important to us. It's as important to us as money is to the bank. So I gotta ask my two little Benjamins. How are we doing? King Latifa? I think that's the best name we've ever had. That's me. And in your toothpick. Yeah, because that was ridiculous. So we'll get to that. And I'm T T. What are the characters? Yep. Also, T T is what I call going to the bathroom. Well, that's cute. Yes, I remember that. I remember that. Incorporate that. Have a little T. Why T T. What does this mean? ⁓ Tinkle? Yeah, it's like an offshoot of that. Yeah. Tinkle time. Toilet time. Yeah. Toilet time. It's really from me, it came from Tinkle. It sounds bougie. You're reminding me of the piss bucket. Can I tell you guys what's been happening? I'd love to know what's been happening. I'd love to know what's happening. Okay. Especially with this intro. I know. ⁓ so I had a mainline backup, which means the water and the wastewater could not reach the sewer. And so I had water that had plops in it, ⁓ in my basement. I could not use the toilets in my house and Nick was here when we realized that and he was like I guess you shouldn't have been making fun of Brent this whole time. And I was like, no, we just won't flush. Yeah. That's like that's the perfect time to use a bucket. Yeah. I was so big dogged by that comment. ⁓ He got me so hard. I'm I love the idea of of Nick like not only making a great point. But defending Brent at the same time. It's like, wow. Not only did my ⁓ friend Nick, who requested my friendship on Facebook, say something that I did, and he said it at the perfect time when you're probably at your lowest, is when you have urine coming back into your house. ⁓ speaking of Nick, I forgot to tell you guys this. So I had a whole bunch I had a whole list from ⁓ when we went to St. Louis. And before we went to St. Louis. ⁓ we were at my parents' house. My entire family was there. Jennifer, Jamie, my mom and dad, and Nick. And ⁓ in front of the whole family, I called Nick Andrew. ⁓ And it is the tough. Yeah. Tough. Every and I love my sisters and my mom. And they immediately defended me. And I knew Nick didn't care. Like I knew like he w you know, it kinda po like he really didn't care though. And he just like ate it up. And I got so much shit for it. And I deserved it. Like, that's my ex husband. I haven't been with him for a decade. Was it in frustration as well? Was it like No, I was telling a story. Okay. Yeah. Like, and it was because I had talked about Andrew County, which is a county in Missouri before. So that's my rationale and that's what my sister and my mom was saying. Yeah. He didn't call him County, you called him Andrew. But I love Nick so much and I like him and he's fun and he helps me. Three weeks after getting hit in the nutsack, and he's now he's gotta listen to you call him by your ex husband's name, your fucking toilet's backed up, your house smells like a fucking litter box, and that the man is a saint, in my opinion. I think he is too. I think so. think he is too. Saint Nicholas. I mean, there's a reason why who else is Saint Nicholas? Santa Claus. That's right. Right. One of the most popular people on earth. Mm-hmm. I talked to him at length about transitioning into Santa Claus play. Or not Santa Claus play, but like for the kids. Careful. Careful. That made it sound sexual. I didn't mean it that way. Careful, Rudolph. I know. ⁓ no. But he has such a great beard. It's only gonna get grayer. He has the countenance. He's literally a licensed social worker. And he's a he's a kind of Santa that I'd like, which is He's not a f actually fat Santa, so he puts the pillow in there so we get a nice skinny faced Santa with the belly. That's my the personally, that's my preference for Santa. I know it's shallow, but that's that's just the way I operate, you know? No, we all have our Santa preferences. Thank you. Thank you. ⁓ I don't like I like when I see Santas that aren't wearing the red suit out in public and I'm like, those are their day clothes. Yeah. Like if they have like a green Santa suit on. Sure. Like I've like suspenders. Right. Like he's got his day clothes and then he has he wears the Santa suit. It's like a war uniform. Yeah, it's like Prince. Prince didn't walk around in the purple jacket. He put it on for the show. ⁓ So all I'm sorry, I was just transitioning. I that was great. Yeah. I had What can we say? I like better that we just had a moment of silence where I just smiled and shook my head yes at my own joke. Like, great work. Great work, mate. You not only did that, you gave ⁓ cheers to the camera with the coffee. I had nothing to add. I was like, they did they nailed it perfectly. So you guys remember that I got tickets to do this pre-party before the Cardinals game. Like all you can eat and all you can drink. Okay, so they did have hot dogs and they were they were with sauteed onions and they were delicious. It was not a scenario where you're just grabbing wrapped hot dogs. So I could not take any hot dogs with you. Couldn't take a purse dog. Also, open bar. And I they didn't it was a limited open bar and they had all the fixins for to make a Long Island iced tea. And I was not brave enough to ask them to make it because it's so labor intensive. Mm. You're being thoughtful for the bartenders. Yeah, because I really wanted one. Because they taste so good. What did you drink instead? I think I only had I had beer. I had some Bud Lights because I Nick and I both like Bud Light. We're progressives and Yep. Sponsors. Bud Light, the sponsors of the UFC event at the White House. Very progressive of you. It's very funny. Is it well that this is after Anheuser Busch was sold to the multinational corporation? So it's kind of like finding out that your favorite old movie star is racist. Like you still have warmth in their heart and you really enjoy their old movies. Sure. But like great, you know what? On theme, Kate, great work. Scott did I just want to say that Scott did that when he was on an all inclusive vacation somewhere. He asked for like an espresso martini and he was like they were so mad when they made it. Yes. And he's like he could tell it was the most passive aggressive drink ever. Like the coffee beans were there was too many and they were You could t it was over it was like you could tell it was shaking too much that the shake had come with anger. Yeah, it came with like foam when it shouldn't have, yeah. Yeah. So I get that. They put torque on it. I could have like had out so I could have like gave her great ⁓ Tip. Sure. You could anyway. Well, just ⁓ go up and ask for w each individual ingredient at different times and then make your own. I thought of that, but the cups are too small. That's the other thing they do. But ⁓ here's the other thing, guys. You notice I've been wearing I've had my red lipstick on again for the podcast. Of course. And I had my red lipstick on this evening. When I was there. And so there was a DJ and he was like a really good DJ, like a radio DJ. And he was engaging the crowd with games and like there were a bunch of Cubs fans there. It was like a good vibe. But Nick and I were in like the quiet side, just like overlooking like a beautiful view. And then we went into the DJ side, and it was just when he was gonna throw out glow in the dark commemorative cups that they don't have anymore or something, whatever. And I'm like, I'm gonna in my head, I'm like, I'm gonna get one of these. And I stand in the back, but close enough to where he could throw. And I just stood there and I smiled at him. Yeah, with the red lips. I was the first person he threw to. Yeah, he threw a perfect spiral to Kate. You have that you have a striking you have a striking appearance that draws in the eye. That's a good silhouette that's Kate's cutting. ⁓ my god, Brent. Thank you. That's that's is that got his attention. Mm-hmm. I don't blame him. I do the same thing myself. Big guys are You guys are jazzing me up. That's good. You guys are jazzing me up. I'd be like, yeah, big red with the snappy hair. Like she's gotten a cup. ⁓ seventh inning, they had a kid that did all the lineups. And it was like the cutest seven-year-old boy. It was so fucking charming. And so Nick and I walk after the game. Outside of that area so that we can catch an Uber more easily that's less expensive. So we went to a brewery and the kid was at that brewery for some reason. And ⁓ What if it's just like an old guy that looks like that? It was with his grandpa, I think. What if that's just his friend? I didn't catch your joke. I didn't catch your I said that's his husband. ⁓ no. ⁓ God. No. This was actual child this was an actual child. You go until you get it out because I have to read the my conversation with him. I'm I'm ready. ⁓ you spoke to him. Yes. I said this is word for word what happened. You did amazing. How old are you, brother? I don't have a brother. How old are you, my friend? Eight. And that was my conversation. Good combo. He put you in your place twice. That's what I like to see. Okay, so we stayed with my friends in St. Louis and I asked them like what they were into reading now. And separate conversations, they weren't next to each other. ⁓ Kit is reading violent anime and Jill is reading Fantasy Smut. So Yep. Yeah, two great genres. Couple that reads us together stays together. Yep. Fantasy smut. Violent anime? Yeah. I wish you got the name of of either. Yeah. I can guess what the fantasy smud is. It's probably a court of thorns and roses books. Is it about does that have like people that have wings? Talking about maybe you're talking about fourth wing, the fourth wing series about dragons. Yeah. I was asking, like, do they have more do they have more than one dick? Because then you got me there. Like Kate wants to know what's going on. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I I want it to be called porno pornographic literature if I'm reading it. Yeah, yeah. You want it you want something new. Okay, driving across I seventy from Kansas City to St. Louis, ⁓ two times, and you really notice ⁓ how many people are using big rigs when they vape? Yeah, there's easy. These big vape rigs. Yeah. And they blow it. It looks like like a like a fucking industry cloud, like it's like they're holding a drink. I wonder if it's like Like if I wonder if that's part of fragile masculinity right now. Like if you have a small vape, you you you don't feel very masculine, but if you have like a big like lightsaber vape. But there's just as many women with these giant ribs. Lightsabers ones. At least over here in Missouri. That's what we're throwing around. You plug after women. You plug it in to charge it and all the other lights in the house get dimmer. Exactly. Exactly. It like for real has a car battery in it. Yeah. Calling your buddy for a boost. yeah, do people like I don't are you do you guys do big vape rigs? No. I saw big vape rigs more a few years ago, and now I see mostly small vapes. I don't I feel very uncomfortable around big vape and big vape ⁓ big big vape participants. I think big vape has an energy. Yeah. ⁓ V V E yeah. Big vape energy, yeah. Like there's all when you if you carry if you make the commitment to carry that, because it doesn't fit in your pocket, you carry that, you have a well defined personality. You have the lanyard for it. I haven't seen that, but I want to. The lanyard would be hilarious. And like in like fifty years they're all like hunched they're all hunched over. Like Them just getting bigger and bigger where you you gotta like carry a giant battery in a backpack just to power it with like some kind of power core. Like Dune. Like they have to have that certain stuff to live. They have to have their with the nose thing too, they just get goes the vape goes straight into their nose. Exactly. I gotta rant I know I've already talked too much, but I have should I say No such thing No such thing I got a rant I got a real rant Okay and I just I feel like I've started it on here but I really it's flourishing and it's there's too many sports. There's too many sports, period. Just across the board. Yeah. No, I agree. Yeah. Like I good. That's then. Like we agree. No, I don't like that there is they there is Different variants of a established sport. Yeah. Like I don't need flag football. I don't need seven on seven rugby or whatever it is. I don't need any variants on the games that are already established. Yeah. Like I think we need to do a lot less competitive still shit, but still in a community. And I think that's why sports is so popular. But sports also is a distraction because it's physical and it's like. We can be in the same room together and all be like under a spell. Like and we're all like, why can't we go to fucking dinner and not have a T V in the room? Mm-hmm. Well, that's I that's I think that's probably something all three of us have in common in that like we like to talk. We all wanna talk. I don't really wanna go and like sit and watch a hockey game and not talk to my friends. Well, Brent would watch the hockey. Yeah, but I would ti I I wouldn't it wouldn't be my personality. Like we have a friend that won't get together with us and watch the hockey games because he can't concentrate on the game. I'm like, you are not a goaltender coach. Yeah, Steve is a dork. Big dork energy Steve. Sorry Steve. Yeah, he he's way too into it and he said he can't concentrate on the game. Does Steve have a vested interest in Like outside of his emotional connection to the team. No money. No. No money. No, no. No, no. No connection. No personal connection. No. He's one of the funniest guys that's, but he's not intentionally funny. Like he doesn't try to be funny. He just you just laugh at his antics. That's fair. I feel like that's what you want us to do for you a little bit. No, I'm funny. But you're the deliberately funny. Yeah, like I try to be funny. Like I come up with jokes. He's ⁓ he does it. Yeah. You are. You're in the top Two funniest people I talk to regularly. That's good. That's a good place to be. That's where I want to be. Next to you on the screen. I was gonna say it better be Nate because Nate's gonna fucking go. You guys are still duking it out though. ⁓ okay. Iron sharpens iron. One last thing. I'm afraid I can't stop wearing my jean shorts. I'm afraid that's cool as hell. Okay, John Cena. No, I it's not cool. No, jean shorts are fucking. Sick as hell. I love my jean shorts and they fit so good and they feel so good. It's just like wearing my bra. My nightmare is jean shorts. That's the end. That's my nightmare is jean shorts. You should have worse nightmares than that. No. Like the thought, like I was never a John Cena guy to watch wrestling because I couldn't watch him because he would wrestle in jean shorts. Like, well, how would you do it? The chode jeans too. Yeah. Love those things. Straight down. Same with from the hip to the low below the knee. And I'm like, that is the most uncomforta Maybe I just had bad experience with jeans when I was a child. I don't know. I haven't We think so. That's what we're figuring out, aren't we? Yeah. Like it's like that is a legit I get anxious around genes. Because it makes you feel insecure, I bet. I don't know. I think if I was an inch you were short and you probably couldn't find genes that fit and it stressed you out or someone said something to you. I don't know. I think it's because I could never find genes that fit. Exactly. I have gene trauma. I have gene trauma. I have gene trauma. JT. Dude, I we all I have ⁓ BT. I have bikini trauma. Couldn't find the right one that fit could well or No, I could. It's just that like the world thinks everyone's fat and I grew up in the nineties. Yeah. We they were like especially now I realize how beautiful I am and I'm wearing the skimpiest bikinis ever now. Cause I just G T F O Meanwhile you're D G A F You guys get it. Sure. So Brent, I want you to find some jeans. What gonna happen? I'll wear bikinis. Okay. No, I'm not gonna wear bikinis if Brent doesn't wear jeans. I I wear jeans. I just don't like wearing jeans. Well you but maybe you need to find jeans that have some stretch in ⁓ I do. I have stretch in them. But he's wearing stiff jeans. You know what I've been wearing lately? I've been wearing some brown jeans lately. What do you think of that? Ooh. What do you think of that? Very carpenter boy. I'm wearing them in the shop, wearing the brown jeans in the shop. Yeah, working man jeans. What's new? I've been wearing brown jeans lately. I like it. ⁓ that's what's been happening. And that's what happened. That's what happened. All right. I have stuff to say too. ⁓ finally. Let's do ⁓ two quick emails. Let's do two quick emails. Ooh. ⁓ we got an email segment. Play the song. We got some emails. This is the email segment. We got one from Aaron. they said, Hello brothers, as Canadian. I had to share my delight in the Canadian music section of the podcast. I was definitely with Nathan thinking the section was entirely for me. ⁓ Brent is correct, it's the end of playing of the same songs that ruin a good song. And he also was correct that Justin Bieber's songs are often excluded from the account. and sh she put in brackets, he just keeps getting smarter regarding me. I'm so glad you pointed that out for us. Yeah. Not you, not ⁓ we're not able to use context clues. Nope. For me, I just wanted to make sure everyone knew. For me, the worst person to have included in CanCon is Drake. Listening to someone who was on Canadian TV show talking about starting from the bottom is a bridge too far. I'm a big Drake hater as well. Thank you for the podcast. I've listened to since day one and look forward to it every week. Aaron. PSO. Yes, if I won a million dollars I would spend it all on having Brent do an even more detailed series on the Bible. I may have to branch away from you guys and do my own business. Listen, if you start a Bible pod, I won't be mad at all. Like I'll support you. I wouldn't support you in that. Yeah. I'd like to be a guest from time to time, but I would s I would support you either way. ⁓ so Erin, thank you for listening to us in writing. And I bet you're a wonderful person. I bet you're very beautiful. ⁓ Ray said, Brent, how come you haven't told us about Saloam and John the Baptist? The guy winds up with a severed head on a platter and you don't even mention it. Are you even reading the Bible? I have my doubts, Ray. Well, Ray, listen to Ray. You have known me for thirteen, fourteen, fifteen years, something like that. You've were on a podcast that we were previously on. We talked about spitting on people and calling it a time bomb. And you realize that I'm not I wasn't a very smart person, but now I'm very smart and I am reading the Bible. ⁓ I don't pander to random violence. I don't pander to that. ⁓ but it is a good it was Get it, Britt! Get him. It was a cool part of the Bible, yeah. Sure, head on a plate, cool. I didn't like the I think he was just cucked by the women, didn't like that. He just tried to do it to press the women in his life. So that's not for me. But we are in the book of Revel Revelations and this is where shits get good. We got biblically accurate angels now with all the eyes. We got the four horsemen of the apocalypse. We got seven bulls of stuff. I really didn't get that part. ⁓ this is where the good stuff happens and I I I'm really liking it. So I don't have much to say other than it's picking up and I do enjoy ⁓ the headless horseman and all that bullshit. That's this is the good stuff. ⁓ headless horseman? I think I'm mixing something up from popular culture. Yeah. I think you might be. Yeah, that's ⁓ sleepy hollow. Yeah, see There might as well be. I thought maybe that was a reference of the devil, the Antichrist coming back. It sounds like d did that sound not sound like a very devilish thing, a guy a guy with no head chasing you to hell? Yeah. See, it's everything comes. Carrying a pumpkin in the Middle East. ⁓ Yeah. The pumpkin okay. I did combine them. I'm sorry. I don't know if that pumpkin is always with the headless horseman. Is it? Or is it like he's holding or is he holding his head? Anything circular, I think he just takes with him that he can grab on the head. Anything head shaped. He's got a big boob. I do wanna add that y I Agree that you definitely are reading the Bible and it is making you smarter. And also her name is Salome, not Salome. I didn't know that either. See, I went to churches that didn't focus on revelation. And the people that are weird went to churches that focus on revelation because they take it so seriously. I went to churches that prayed for a good ⁓ haul of lobster and coal in the upcoming season. ⁓ Here's the deal with my latest Bible adventures is I've been I explained to Kate and Nate, I've been weaning off a pain med and it's fucking me up. I'm stupid. I'm very stupid again and I'm very tired and sick all the time. ⁓ so that's I have to redo the book Revelation. I don't need your fancy God isn't about pronunciation. Let's put that on a nightgown. I like that. If I if we were in a room with a bunch of people and I said saloon. Salome or whatever. What's what's her name? Salome. Salome. If I said Salome, she would turn around and look. It would get the job done. You're right, you're right. She would. You wouldn't be the first. You wouldn't be the first person to pull that out on her. Yeah, so the Brent's Bible lesson this week, the moral of the story is God doesn't care about pronunciation. That's I like it. Brent's BBL. ⁓ yeah, Brent's BBL. next thing I have to talk about is Nit Nate. I I took your ⁓ your recommendation. I I went, I purchased and downloaded Dave the Diver. What ⁓ just fun experience. Host a little sushi event at the at the restaurant last night. That went over well. I'm saving people left and right in the sea. I have a portal mirror now that I can look into and go visit them anytime I want. That's sick. I have the gloves now where I can pick up the sea urchin. ⁓ I I haven't laughed as hard as I did as the other night when I said this game is great and you sent the picture of the jellyfish reaction guy. Yeah. And I was like, yeah, Nate gets it. Mm-hmm. I highly s I second ⁓ sorry there, frat boy. I didn't know you're having a dirty, are you? What do you crack? Sorry. ⁓ That's a nice fresh cold bud light. Sponsors. I highly second Nate's recommendation, a data diver. You you catch fish in d at by the day and in the night you serve them up with ⁓ all your coworkers and you pour you're pouring beers, you're pouring green tea, you're researching recipes. It's a great game. It's just it's so fun. And it's just you don't skip the cutscenes because they're so good. Dave Diver, everyone get it. I Heartwarming Sounds charming and heartwarming and age For all ages. Yeah. Anybody anyone could play. I mean, if you don't mind your kids using a fucking gun in the water in the ocean, fine. Well, you're you're fishermen. You're a fisherman. Yeah, it's that's a tool. It's not a weapon. Yeah. ⁓ yesterday I had construct I sent a picture of a big truck that was in my driveway. ⁓ we had some construction on the side of my driveway. S they were going into the sewer line or something. There was a big sewer truck there, a work truck, multiple men in vests and hard hats and a big were they cute? They were decent looking gentlemen. Your average construction worker type. ⁓ where did they take their shirts off at any time? No, all the shirts ringed on. One guy was sweaty. It was warm out and he there was an excavator there. And I had a a a basket of clothes I I wanted to put on the clothesline. And I said, I'm not gonna go out and put a basket of clothes on the clothesline in front of like a dozen construction workers. And I walked back and I stopped myself and I said, But in a way, if I do that, I'll be using the most powerful tool of all, the sun. Yeah. So I I merched I marched out there and I hung up I hung up a big towels, bed sheets, face class, a t shirt, my underwear. I even put my underwear up. You're basically working on a boat at that point. Yeah. That's what naked. I felt like I was working on like a my own little boat. Master and commander. Those were your sails. Yeah. They were my sails. And I have one pair of underwear with they have skull they're like purplish blue ⁓ sports shorts, boxer briefs, and they have skulls on them. And there's a s and there's a snake coming out the eyeball hole of every skull. Hell yeah. Don't know why they came in a variety pack. And the variety pack was very tame, except for this one pair. They were like, look how hard this guy is. He's putting up clothes and is wearing skull panties. Yeah. I guess skull panties, snake panties, whatever you want to call them. I put them up and I didn't care. And I did laugh. I was because I I was like, how funny it would be if one of them cat called me. Right? Yeah. And ⁓ I knew. Second time I went out, I ⁓ I knew they were talking about me because ⁓ they were sitting down eating lunch on the on the grass and I knew they were talking about me because I heard them talking about clothes dryers. So I knew someone ⁓ that was I was you're being influential. Yeah. So I knew starting as always, starting the conversation. Yeah, yeah. Starting conversation in the community. I like that, Kate. I like that a lot. Trendsetter. ⁓ Yeah, I'm starting to I'm starting to be the big dog in the neighborhood and I like that. ⁓ the last thing is speaking of big dog is yesterday we took the boys to a vet appointment just to check up ⁓ and some injections for like whatever. Speaking of your dogs. Yep. Because when you said that I thought of your sons. Yeah, you do have to clarify. ⁓ my nineteen and twenty four year old adults? Yeah, they're fine. He said the boys, and Nick calls the boy the boys are the boys in my head. They're boys. Because they're little boys still. They're still the boys. Yeah, you got the men. When Brett's like, I took the men to the vet. Right. Yeah. I would have said I took the men to the doctor. They can make their own appointments if they got something going on. Anyway, I call the Big Pissers Club. I took the Big Pissers Club to the veterinarians, and they they they pee big time. Yeah, they're big pissers. You would think like I I make jokes that like they have corked hogs, I say, like they there's some piss and like it's a lot. Yeah. Anyway, I go to the vet and it's just my and and this is just a little tangent. Seven hundred and some dollars to take two dogs to get to get looked at and a couple of vaccines. Was it their yearly? Yeah, like what are we doing here? What are we doing here? Anyway. That's terrible. Vec comes in, very nice man. He has scrubs on, he's very nice, late twenties, mid thirties, whatever. He's talking to us, accent, and Melissa's like, ⁓ you how long you are you from away? Are you not boring? And he's like, Yeah, yeah. And ⁓ he said, Where do you think I'm from? And I like that. So Melissa gets riddled. Yeah, Melissa guessed and she was wrong. And I without it like within five seconds of him asking, I said, Egypt. And he struck he put everything he had in his hands down and said, You're the first person to ever get that rice. Congratulations. He said, How did you know? I said, Well, your last name and your accent. I think it's weird that you left out the part where his name's Dr. Tootin common. He had all the gauze wrapped around his leg like a mummy. No, no. So I think on that note, it's time for the weekly report. Let's do the weekly report. Okay. Week, week, week, week, week, week, week, week, week, weekly report. Weekly report. I have a ⁓ I have a monumental life update to give both of you. Like ⁓ a branching fork in the road of my life. I'm set up for this. You better set up this. Better not. And that is, I bought my first millimeter measuring tape. I'm switching to the metric system. I'm not dealing with inches anymore. I'm doing millimeters from now on. Growing up, growing up. I'm tired of trying to say seven and five sixteenths. What the fuck is seven and five sixteenths? I want to say ninety-two. I want to say sixty-four. Yep. Nice nice and tangible. I like it, mate. And so time. I'm switching and it's over. And I I've been I've been all the things I'm planning to measure with this measuring tape, you wouldn't believe it. I could believe it. The different amount of things I'm gonna measure with this measuring tape. I would just measure things in general. What I would measure everything. I went through that phase. No, ever been a kid and you got a measuring tape and you just kinda like went around measuring? See what everything is, see what's 92. See what's 74. Yeah, you get and you give you give that curious mind a a a tool, an instrument to to use. Things are gonna happen. ⁓ this measuring tape is all part of what's been going on this week, which is a garage barrage. That's what I've been up to this week, is a barrage in the garage. I've been tidying, I've been sorting wood into different piles. I got like five different piles. I'm gonna build this giant holder for my record player, but records are heavy as fuck. Very I can't build it shitty. I have to build it good. How big are you going to make your how many centimeters will your ⁓ record holder be? Very good question. It's gonna be like four or six squares. So I'm gonna make a square that's big enough, wide enough for records and for like, I don't know, maybe fifty records per box, something like that. It's hard to count. I don't know. Yeah. ⁓ and then they'll all be screwed together. So at least I can make it modularly in boxes. Will it have the back open or closed? ⁓ right now I think open, but I'll see what it looks like when I put it together. 'Cause I'll might throw a back backing on it. Maybe. I've been thinking about it. But first step is You can just see it. That's kinda what especially the records will cover it up, I would think. ⁓ But it's gonna be a lot of work because I'm making it out of old pallets that I'm breaking down from the store. And you just have they it takes so much work to make that wood into usable wood. But it feels the like the effort is not worth it if you're trying to make money doing something like this. So it'd be like so stupid you should just buy brand new wood that's already ready to go. But for my purposes, which is puttering around, smoking marijuana cannabis. Drinking coffee. Carabana cannabis. Yeah, drinking coffee, listening to different podcasts and YouTube videos. It's like that's the that's the kind of work for me right now. I love it. I love it. Will you paint it or leave it? Also, I have an idea to like stain the outside one color and then stain the inside wood another color, because it's gonna be two layers. And I like I actually made ⁓ I'm I like for the first time in my life, I made an actual schematic on the computer so I could like change the colors. ⁓ and like look at it be like, ⁓ let's try changing this piece of wood to this color and this piece of wood to this color. Like, ⁓ okay, different patterns. Like this is this is a lot smarter than how I usually do it, which is I just start making it and just see what happens. Like go go along for the ride. Well you're getting better at it. Maybe ⁓ I also Have been working, you guys know I've been working out so hard. I've been like lifting all kinds of weights, doing all sorts of reps, ridic ridiculously committed to exercise. I've been doing all my D's. ⁓ and I have not injured myself whatsoever during this whole time. I had like a little bit of a sore elbow at one point, but like I've been so careful. I threw out my back while I was eating breakfast with my mother. For real. ⁓ Like I was sitting there. I was sitting there eating an eggs. I was sitting there eating. I know those eggs. I know it was eggs. He loved them eggs. They're so slippery. I was sitting my I didn't do anything. I was just sitting there, I like took a bite, and then my back just was like all day. I was like, fuck, man, I can't turn my head, I can't turn my egg. And what's that about? Like you do three hundred squats and you're fine, but you eat some eggs, you throw your shit out. It's 'cause you were with your mom. The slippers eggs are so slippery. They got ya. At least it happened on my off on my rest day. This happened on Wednesday. And like by Thursday, I was feeling good enough that I could work out still. ⁓ but where did you pull it? Where where on the where on your body? Like scat left scap. Yeah, left scap. Are you left handed or right handed? Right handed. So it's like, what what the fuck is that about? What do you have scoliosis? No scolies. Do you what hand do you use your fork with? I'm a right hand fork. wait. I'm a left fork. I'm a left-handed fork guy. ⁓ no. This is the problem. You're maybe with a weight. Maybe it was a weighted fork. How many how many times or or what's the thing? Tines? I'm around this fork. Yeah, it was eight it was a twenty-tine fork. That might have something to do with it. That would do it, yeah. Copy. Solved that problem pretty quick, didn't we? And then my other tribulation when it comes to exercising is it's like the first time in my life that I'm ever like trying to eat properly and lift weights. And now there's a global protein powder shortage. I'm just trying to I'm just trying to eat protein, man. I've been behaving myself so well. My protein powder went from ninety dollars to one hundred and fifty dollars over the course of two months. It's gotta be straight whore moose involved in here somehow. I just fucking know it. So where do you get your protein powder from? ⁓ well I was ordering it from Amazon and now I'm I might get in on my brother's Costco membership to grab some Costco protein. That might be the most ⁓ You're gonna have to switch brands or something. I I I already did 'cause I wasn't paying a hundred and fifty for protein powder. I bought the much ⁓ cheaper protein powder for ninety dollars. But gosh. Round of bones. You should just wrestle at strangled deer and just eat all the fucking deer meat. I'm a vegetarian. I don't need that. That's this is the whole problem. This is why you need the powder. And I think maybe that's what's also annoying me. It's like there's all these chicken eaters that are tr eating drinking my whey protein like you fucking losers. Go eat more chickens. Like leave the shit for me. Yeah, you chicken eaters. And then I have also been taking care of my D's. That's I did drinking my dairy, lifted the weights, dancing. And reading to Dostoevsky. the Dostoevsky update is Prince Mishkin was about to get stabbed. This is a kind of a move that everybody should remember, actually. He was about to get stabbed, started having an epileptic seizure, fell down the stairs. The guy didn't know what to do. He ran away and didn't stab him. So, like yeah ⁓ having the seizure was actually kind of a move at that point. It was it real seizure? It was a real one. I'm telling you guys, you just have to keep people on their toes. You just have to act. Yes. And he rolled down the stairs. So he's following our advice too. He's roll he rolled out of the situation. So Jeremy unprompted the other day said he was falling backwards. And what he did was instead of trying to fight that he just rolled backwards. Unprompted, never heard it on the show, never talked about it. And most of those like ⁓ I figured that would cause bore damage. She said, No, it's fine. And I said, Actually, Nate brought this up and Kate is a big fan of rolling. Yep. I said, So ⁓ we should probably just roll because I mean Jeremy did it. All through my life, because I'm a bigger guy, every time I like make a diving play in baseball or something like that, everyone's always like, Are you okay? And I'm always okay because I fucking roll through it. It's like it's insulting to me. Anyone's even asking if I'm okay. I'm like, yeah, I rolled through it. Doesn't matter if you're big as long as you keep rolling, you fools. That's the weekly report. ⁓ speaking of four D's, we have four of the ladies that comprise this film that we watched ⁓ for my month, which is Add A Lies, and it's Kate's movie. So Kate, tell everybody what we What we watched. We watched Set It Off nineteen ninety six or ninety-four. I would have to look. Ninety-six. And I would love for somebody. I want to make Nate do it because he hasn't done it in a while. But I'm open to Brent doing it too. Tell us about tell us the plot. Set it off. I feel spad 'cause Nate does so much that I feel like this. Yeah. ⁓ I just didn't want you to feel left out like you wouldn't get the opportunity. No, I'd much rather sit back and let Brett take care of this. Yeah. ⁓ Set It Off is an action crime movie from 1996 starring Queen Latifa, Jada Pickett, ⁓ Fox, and Kimberly Elise. it's about four young ladies who are just in the struggle. ⁓ Vivica loses her job at the bank due to racism. The bank is robbed and she's accused of being involved because she knew the robbers. Queen Latifa's just living her best life as what she does. She's a mechanic. ⁓ car mechanic. T yeah, T T is a character who has a a son, but she's always can't afford the babysitter and the job and she wants to get paid on the table. She's and they all work together. ⁓ ⁓ and Jada Pinkett has ⁓ a son or a brother that's supposed to go to college. ⁓ and they all work together at this janitorial service place and they don't like their boss. ⁓ Luther. Yeah, Luther. ⁓ they're mad, they're upset. Like a system is ⁓ is set up against them, especially that they're black and not only black, women. Thanks. That's yeah. So the system is set up against them. So they decide they they bat the idea around Robin Banks. And then finally after the death of Jada Pinkett's brother, they said, This is time, let's rob this bank. ⁓ they go to rob the bank. It doesn't go off very well for T T. She panics, splits her wig, she's gone. ⁓ Vivek A. Fox says, Fuck this. I'm going in. ⁓ Cleo, which is ⁓ Queen Latifa double gunned it, two guns, and they pull off a very successful quick robbery, and then then they get addicted to robbing banks and they want to set up This the big the big bank ⁓ robbery ⁓ that the love interest of Jada Pincus is works at, which is Blair Underwood. some some as as as one does, some in-house bickering starts between the four ladies and they kinda start not trusting each other. All the money that they have store gets stolen. That they had s ⁓ at one of their job sites. It was Luther. Luther did it. And they confront Luther. T T gets shot. they go to the bank. Everyone ev they do one last heist. Everyone dies except for fucking Jada Pinkett. She goes to Mexico. She s calls Blair Underwood. Says kind of thank you. And that's set it off. Yeah. You got it all. Yeah. That was very good, Brent. Good work. ⁓ let's yeah, go ahead. Go ahead, you say it. Let's talk about our favorite parts and some parts. Let's talk about all the parts, including our favorite parts. Absolutely. When you say set it off, I pictured in my head that cheerling movie. Bring it on. Bring it on. So I went into this movie thinking it was that. But then I was like, ⁓ it's not that when it came on. I'm like, it's not that. It's probably something similar to that. Like The Wood or The Four Brothers, you know, those movies. ⁓ holy fuck was I not expecting. I was so surprised 'cause like Brent, I didn't know anything about this movie. And Like the first five minutes of this movie was so surprising because it's all the stuff that Kate doesn't like. It's like shooting, blood, violence. Extreme. Extreme. Lady gets popped in the head in the first two minutes. Guys, I this is the month of like revisiting, right? And this was really eye-opening. I took this very seriously, apparently. And it was like revisiting trauma. I was like, where was I in my life? Where like this was the vibe for me. We went from Dick Tracy punching eight guys at one time to Vivek A. Fox witnessing a fucking beheading. And it got real, real quick. I was not I thought, like I said, it was bringing on. And then I thought, okay, maybe it's just like how Stella got her groove back. That's what I thought was gonna happen. But then the gunshot, I was like, what the fuck? And then it just got violent more violent as we go. And it was so weird that like it's just so violent and not anything I would ever like now. I do I think I like I like it now for the same reasons I like it then, which is like it's about four black women and I like all of those actresses and the music is phenomenal. Great. And then I had that soundtrack that I listened to repeatedly. So I just have these like Auditory associations that are positive, not thinking of like what the actual movie is, you know? Well, it's really interesting. The especially for how old it is, they really did not let women lead movies like this. Like that was you did not. She is a lesbian in the movie. There is a lesbi a black lesbian love scene. I mean, they're not having sex, but like Queen Latifah is laying on his her cool ass car. Yeah. Also, Queen Latifah looks great. ⁓ I've always had a crush on Queen Latifa, but she's hard as hell. She's like the toughest anyway. So then her her girlfriend, Queen Latifa Cleo's girlfriend, has on very like lingerie and is just standing over and she's just like rubbing on her, and all the women walk in. Like, what? Great part of the film. What? Yeah. She was so cool. She big dogged everyone at the 70s party when she just dressed up as easy kind of person. And I was like, she just big dogged everybody. Everyone looks stupid. She was it actually kind of confused the fuck out of me because I didn't realize it was a seventies party. I was like, I guess this movie takes place in the 70s. And then like five minutes later, I was like, ⁓ no, wait. I was confused. ⁓ I let's get to the let's paired part a little bit. First off, the we talked about Vivek A. Fox witnessing getting the Old white woman getting shot in the head. ⁓ the guy had the white woman like this. Yeah. So and then he shot her. And terrible squib work because A, no blood got on him. And all the spray went on top of Viv Gay Fox, which is why did the blood go forward? It should have gone on him. Yeah, you're on the other side. This is a physics-based criticism. Yeah, I didn't like that. That's squib rat squibs for the sake of squibs, and we don't do that here. I was so mad though in the movie when they fired her. I had forgotten that she looked at Well, she could get a lawsuit. ⁓ my God. Call Ted Kapke. Kapke Willard. Like make some money. Yeah. I I did have a funny joke about when she did get fired. She kinda got mad and says she was yelling at the boss about how hard she works and she's here at a twenty sharp every day. And but I thought, well, her shift starts at eight though. It'd be funny if her shift started at eight. Yeah. You're supposed to be here at seven thirty. Yeah. I know you're shift. But you're an hour late. We're paying you to be here at seven thirty. I did I did like how later in the movie she like threw that line back at him where he was like, What's the protocol? What's the protocol? And then when she had a gun to his head, he's she's What's the protocol when you got a gun to your head? Like, And he was a weird, he was a weird I didn't understand his character at all. Like the coped ⁓ Mr. McGinley, who I enjoy. I enjoy Mr. McGinley. ⁓ I love him. I love him. And then I didn't understand the ending of it. Like I guess what they're trying to say was that he was looking at Jada Pinkett and he was like, I'm gonna let her go because all the other girls got killed. And it's like enough death because her brother also died because of him kinda. So I think that's what they were going for, but it was just one of those moments where I was like so mad at Jada. I'm like, just duck. Just duck about in the window. You can't see you. Just duck. Also, wouldn't those people, why did the bus stop, right? Like all the wouldn't those people be even afraid of being shot? Yeah, nobody was really. Nobody was even watching. There's police cars. All of them police have their guns out. And yes, they're facing Vivica A. Fox, but there's also a bus behind her full of people watching. They're shooting the bullets at the bus. ⁓ my God. He should have shut that shit down a half hour in the movie. The first time they sa he saw the footage of the the first bank robber. He's like, ⁓ that's clearly that's the lady that that attacked me the other day with her three other friends about bank robberies. That's probably them. He should have shut that down. That's his fault. I did not like that Jada Peakett's character engaged in sex work. I felt bad about that. I felt bad for her, especially because her brother was a little liar. Little bitch is what her yeah. Especially that she did it with the the lawyer from Nightcourt. I like how quick she was to slap people. She like Jada slaps three people in the movie, and I'm like, that is a move. We haven't seen that in a long time. Was she with Will Smith during this movie? I haven't looked. What do you guys think? Probably not yet. I hope not. Not no. She was still in love with Tupac at this point. And I have a theory that Will Smith ruined Jada Pinka and not the other way around. Yeah, I could agree with that too, completely. ⁓ sh they got married in 97. So right after this. But she was still in love with Tupac. Well, wouldn't you? You would be the rest of your life. You dated Tupac. I mean, where do you go from there? Tupac. The decision, like, yeah, well, yeah. The decision to make her in sex work. I get why they wanted, but anybody else except for the guy from Night Course. You didn't need it in the movie. You didn't need that. And then to rip the check up, you just then you did it for nothing. You slept with a man from Night Court for nothing. And see, I get that, because then it's kind of like you're like you're saving your ethics and your morals for yourself, like her self-respect. I mean like I would She didn't like that she did that either. You Nate would have kept the money. Yeah, I would have kept the money. ⁓ I would have kept the money if I had a pragmatic point of view, you know. It's like let's say if I had to sleep with ⁓ Carla from Cheers. To get the money. I'd still do it. I'd still keep the money. What if Danny DeVito was there? His her husband. If you wanted to wa like if you wanted to watch? Talking about ⁓ DeVito Cuck situation. Is that what we're talking about? Did we got DeVito Cuck situation on the podcast? ⁓ Sure. I'm keeping the money either way. Yeah, me too. Keep that cash. I just it it could have been anybody else who brought the guy overnight court. It ruined it. That I didn't like that. ⁓ Black Sam is just the guy from The ghetto in District Nine sat there with a gun. ⁓ I didn't even talk about guns. I thought that was I thought it was Dr. Dre. No, no, it was, but it's the same type of character. ⁓ okay. Yeah. Yeah. G gun guy. Just you know, just making favors to Peeper. Yeah. I could tell Dr. Dre was so excited to be acting. Me too. Me too, Kate. That he was like, I'm really doing it right now. He was mean, he was being hard. And he did a good job. Yes. He was happy to be But he had a little too much enthusiasm. He was happy to be there. He shouldn't be that excited to be in his own house. And there's there was no reason for it to hold a gun the whole time. I liked when when ⁓ Queen Latifa got shot on live TV and the and he's watching it a cuts to him, and he's like, damn. Yeah. Too bad. I felt so bad for Cleo's girlfriend. That's who I felt bad for. The one that was closest to all of them. Yeah. Now she's gonna be pulled in to she's probably gonna get arrested. She didn't get any of the money. No, she just got to love Cleo. Before Cleo before Queen Latifa has the best dying scene. ⁓ it's so good. Her facial expressions while being I won't be bringing it up during the medals. Absolutely. I will be bringing that up too. So good. Yeah. I wanna I think this is Queen Latifah's a great I love Queen Latifa though. Me too. I want to talk about how much I love it. Like I I was the ⁓ the minute I heard she was in this movie, I was like set. I'm like, I will watch anything with Queen Latifah. I have loved her since I was young. Like just there's something about her. The only word I can think for her is gravitas. She has she has gravitas. Would you give T T the money after the first bank robbery? Yeah. Yes. You have to take care of your boys. Even if fifty five hundred dollars, that's what it wouldn't worked out to be. Everybody I wouldn't give her as much, but I'd give her some. I'd give her, yeah, f here's four thousand dollars. If she didn't have the kid, I'd be like, nah, you don't get any. But because of the kid, I'd be like, Yeah, you get some. And she was the softest one of them. Like she didn't want to do any of that. No, she was horrified. T T. 'Cause I would be like, I get and this is what I get for going against my gut. Is I get killed. But I get at least I get held by Jada Peakett Smith as I die. Yeah. And she kisses me. Mm-hmm. And then I'm left in the back of an explorer for white men to find. Yeah. And my son will read about me on the news. Womp womp. That's how this movie is. Yeah. I turned the movie off and I looked at I I just said that's my what I said when this was over. I was not I I was thought That it was all gonna be a happy ending. They're all gonna be sitting in Al Capoco. She's gonna have the kid with her. And everyone's gonna be happy. Ursula's gonna be in a bikini and Cleo's gonna be smacking her butt. I would love that ending. If A Fox is gonna have even have more hair clips in her hair, and Jada Pinkett's like somehow her brother's back alive. That's what I was expecting. I this was it made it interesting to watch because I was like genuinely the whole movie. I'm like, how is this going to end? 'Cause usually a movie like this is like they get away with it. So like the whole movie I'm like, how are they gonna get away with this? Like it's not this is going poorly. It's not planned out. Yeah. The after of yeah, there it was boys in the hood for the for the ladies. Yeah. Ladies in the hood. And it just really demonstrates how depressed I used to be. Yep. Like Listen, I've worked so hard to not be that depressed. And I gotta tell you guys, I prefer Not being depressed. Me too. A lot more to being depressed. No, yes. Okay. Crazy. But she gotta pick between the two? Some of the radical takes you get here at the North American Friends Movie Club. ⁓ do you guys wanna do a quizzy? I'd love to. This is Nate first. Number one. I saw a boy at Chipotle wearing a shirt of the same basketball player who was on the back of the door in the party scene when it was the 1970s. Which basketball player was it? Dennis Rodman, Scottie Pippen, Shaquille O'Neal, Charles Barkley. Damn, Charles Barkley. Gottie Pimpen. Dennis Rodman. The worm. And Nick was with me and he saw it too. And I was like, Do you see that kid's wearing a Dennis Rodman shirt? He was like, Yeah. And Jules was like, Who's Dennis Rodman? I was and we were like, He's a crazy basketball player. You're like, ⁓ Dennis Rodman? Kim Jong-un's friend? Yeah. That's exactly. He goes to North Korea. The North Korea diplomat. Yeah, that's him. The director of Set It Off is F. Gary Gray. What did he not direct? So which movie did he not direct? The Negotiator, Friday, The Italian Job, The Players Club. The negotiator. Friday. Players club. ⁓ Kate's killing us. Number three. What is Queen Latifah's license plate? So Cleo's license plate. IMP 420 RED 750. C L E O seven five J ⁓ P Six four two. ⁓ four twenty J ⁓ P red seven five zero. To nothing. Kate. Kate crushing us right now. Just stomping us. I'm proud of my questions. Yeah, you're kidding. I can't believe it. Number four, what color are the jumpsuits in their final robbery? You don't get any options. ⁓ my god. How do I I know? Blue. They're blue jumpsuits. They are blue. ⁓ thank God. I knew I just it was driving me crazy. Number five, which actress was a dancer on Soul Train at the very beginning of her career? Out of the four main actresses? Vivica A. Fox. I'm also gonna say Vivica A. Fox. You guys are right. It's one thing, Nate, nah, I know it's Soul Train. It's Vivica A. Fox Wik Wikipedia. Yeah. ⁓ I've I've I've been around the Vivica A. Fox Wikipedia a few times in my day. ⁓ number six, what is Cleo's last name? Cleopatra Simmons, Cleopatra Carson, Cleopatra Sutton, Cleopatra Sims. ⁓ we're gonna go with B. We're gonna say Sims. Sims is correct. Win it here. Number seven. What year is Cleo's Impala? 62, 63, 64, 65. I'm gonna say six a 64 Impala. Well, I I it's obvious I have to go different, so I'll go 65. It was a 1962 Impala. Kate wins. Wow. Weird when you win your own quiz. I don't think it's harder. I think it's the hardest thing to do is to win your own quiz. Do you really think that are you just saying that? Not only do I think that, I I am so proud of you that I'm actually gonna spell your name right now. It's gonna go like this. Kate. T E exclamation point. Exclamation point. Exclamation point. Exclamation point. Underline. Underline. Guys, I feel like this we should maybe change it. I don't think we should spell names anymore. What? We're not doing it anymore. We caught it. It's got We're not gonna spell the names anymore, but that's the prize. We'll we'll think of a different prize. Let's think of something we say that's not like a cheerleading cheer. Let's do this. I'm open I'm open next week to hearing different ⁓ proposals. So I think a proposal right now. Okay. Okay, let's hear it. Whoever wins, the two losers have to give the winner A heartfelt compliment. Sure. Okay. Okay. Okay. It doesn't seem as special. Yeah. Friends, it's the okay, you know what? You have to say their full name. No, you have to say their name. What's we doing doxing people? Like Brent. Like Brent. I really like, I don't know, like Whatever the complicated. Even one thing it's hard to think of. Literally not even four to five minutes ago, I said you had too many draw attention. I literally said I was gonna talk about your looks. I was thinking if I talk about his looks, then he'll be hurt I didn't talk about his intelligence. If I don't talk about his intelligence, he'll feel like I don't think he's funny. If I don't think he's funny, then he'd thinks I think he's ugly. Like I said you draw the eyes of the room to you when you walk. He did say that. He did say that. With your big red and your snappy hair and your great style, your pop collar, your dazzling personality and sense of humor. And when the time comes to give me even a made up one, you went blank. I never heard you speechless in 14 years. This is a good start to the new prize. 14 years, never heard you speechless. There you are my dearest, closest friend. And I think you're very handsome. Don't want to And I think you are very smart. I just wanna give a medals. I hope that one day I get to meet you in person because I will be very sad if I die without getting to hug Brett Marie. I just wanna give up the medals. It's time to give out some medals. Let's get out the medals. Who's gonna get your bronze? I mean, I think we we've got four beautiful. You guys go first. We gotta cut one. Yeah, one of them's. I know who's getting cut. But I know who's getting cut. I'm gonna cut I'm gonna be bronze medal. I'm giving to Vivica A. Fox, who I think is. I love her. I l I love to see her. She just has two ⁓ serious competitors in this competition. So she is wonderful in this movie. ⁓ she's very funny. She's she was great in Kill Bill. She did a cool kicking she's got good physicality. Great. She's a wonderful actress. I'd love to see more of her Vivek's Viveka Fox gets my bronze medal. ⁓ Bronze Meadow for me is VK Fox as well. She was my least, no, I wouldn't say she was my second least favorite of the the gals. ⁓ I didn't like she was too ⁓ too I don't like too aggressive people. Like everything was like, let's fucking blow something up right now. I'm like, let's just hang out for the night and we'll visit the blowing up stuff later. Let's sleep on it. Yeah, I don't like the constant like zero sixty people. I just somehow relax and like I don't want to get on a roof to smoke a joint. I just let's smoke the joint in driveway. No, the roof's cool. Yeah, they were pretty cool on the roof. Nate and I'll go up on the roof. And I'll yeah, I'll stay at the on the ground level. And you guys drop the light. Well, you'll still want to talk to us and you would like yell up from the from the driveway. Throw the lighter down. ⁓ I guess though I mean, I've I really want to give it to Jada ⁓ But I think you're right. There's something about this performance from her that was a little off. And so I agree with everything you guys said. She gets my bronze. ⁓ silver metal time. Well, I'm giving it to Jada. ⁓ I don't know. I like her. I I think these roles were written weird. I don't necessarily I don't know. I think these women were doing a lot with what what they were offered. Yeah, they elevated it for sure. For sure. And ⁓ I like I think Jada was acting her ass off. She had to do the most work. She definitely had to do the most work out of all four of them. She's got a she's got a cradle, like th two dead bodies at least in the movie. Cradle and Cry. She's had to do that twice. Two two cradle and cries. Cry on cry on film. So I she sh I'm I agree. She's gonna get my silver medal too. And I just thought she looked ⁓ she's a great actress. She looked so beautiful and she was great. What'd you guys think about her pixie cut? I liked it. I liked her hair a lot, actually. Yeah. She should have put ⁓ razor blades, like the pinky blinders in it, and then snapped it at people. That would hurt you though, the person wearing the hair. Ada Pink, it's here, Tommy. She stole her idea, Tommy. ⁓ my silver medal goes to ⁓ Kimberly Elise, who plays TT. ⁓ she was the only reason only person that had a legit reason to rob a bank. ⁓ Jada Pinkett's pro financial problem kinda took care of itself in a weird way. Yeah. the brother got shot. ⁓ Cleo, she looked like she was doing just fine. She always had a bottle, had a hot lesbian girlfriend, had a ⁓ she slept in a garage. That's cool as hell. It's like Jeremy basically. then we have like ⁓ Vivek A. Fox, she was working at a bank. I'm sure she could find another job. ⁓ but at least sue the people. That's probably you're gonna make money. But T T lost her kid to just trying to do the right thing, just trying to trying to make it. Yeah, it's Luther's fault. The whole movie is Luther's fault, basically. Yeah, Luther's fault. So if you're a boss, be nice to your employees. Yeah. Right. And our gold, I think I know Nate and I we're giving it to our lady. Getting regal with it, getting royal with it. The original queen, Queen Latifa, who her energy, her presence, her physicality, her death. She can do everything. Just watch the just watch her death scene. She's got the biggest dick. You know what I mean? Like she does like eight good things before like before she gets out of the Car, she's doing like, ⁓ what am I gonna do? She's like, she she looks at one moment like she's like super stressed and worried, and then next she's like, you know what? Fuck this. I accept it. I'm going out on my terms. Like, she's just so fucking cool. She's just the best. Yeah, she gets my cold for sure. Okay. ⁓ I'm gonna say something that's not gonna be received well, obviously, after all that. Well, you're not put choosing Queen Latifah. I'm choosing Jada Pinkett. Quickly, I I wanna say I don't like Queen Latifah's whole thing. Okay. We absolute fool. Let me. ⁓ this is part my part of the segment. Fuck. Is this like when you didn't like Robin Robin Williams? Sorry, go ahead. Don't like Robin Williams either. I know. I know. rest in peace. ⁓ but we I never believed any of her stuff that she did. It was always corny. She made every situation in the movie more difficult. ⁓ the she was dancing and she shot the gun off by mistake, drawing attention to everybody to the hotel. After the bank robbery, that was a kind of amateur rookie move. You put the gun away, you don't dance. You don't walk in amateur. You don't have two guns in your hands, then you don't have a free hand. ⁓ she was like this. Yeah. I'd like to. And then where'd she end up? No, what's not cool? Leaving your partner a widow. And that's what Ursula had to do. So what would you rather have? A long life with Ursula or be cool? I'll take the long life with Ursula. ⁓ I never talking about her character though. I I'll I'll go back to her real person. No, no, no. Tell us why you're choosing Jada. I think that Jada Pinkett did well. Didn't like her crying or did her death scenes very much, but I do believe that Will Smith ruined her. It ruined her because he's a weirdo. I think Will Smith's secretly a weirdo. I agree. And I think I think she never got over Tupac and gold medal. Excellent work. Thank you. Kate Kate can't contribute right now because she's coughing too much. She had to be herself. I looked up from after giving out and I Kate's barking to. ⁓ I defeat the band and Nate's looking like, ⁓ I can't believe I have to l listen to this again. And when I edit it. You get to choose who you want to choose. I d I do think though that Will Smith probably feels intimidated about ⁓ Tupac. Yeah, yeah, it's that's tough. Yeah. Because especially because like you're you're competing with a ghost. He can't beat a ghost, man. What are you gonna do? Nobody Yeah, you're competing with a ghost is fuck great. Also a great nick nightgown. You're never gonna and she was the hottest anyone ever looked in a film in the Night Professor. She was so good looking. That sentence I know. That sentence is but true. True. ⁓ well I'd give us all a ten out of ten for our medals. ⁓ would you guys like to give this movie some ratings? Rating? Yeah. Yeah. Guys, I was more of a Halle Berry, a Halle Berry girl than a Jada Pigett. ⁓ I love Halle Berry too. I still do. Like every time I see Halle Berry, I'm just like, I wouldn't marry her. If she just like sent me a letter and she was like, I would like to get married. I'd say, yeah. If she was what? If she sent him a letter. ⁓ okay. She sent him a card that asked him to marry him. It's like, hey, I listen to the North American Friends Movie Club. Do I know an H. Barry from Hollywood? Hmm. So Halle Berry, if you're listening, the email address. North American Friends Movie Club at gmail.com. Understand that Brent and Kate are gonna read this, so don't start too fast. Start slow. Yeah, start slow. I'll get your contact info from Brent and Kate, and then we'll move to the private chat. She was married to David Justice and Eric Bennet and Oliver Martinez, who I don't She's French. She ha her first husband was French. I think you gotta if you're gonna be famous, you gotta have a French spouse at some point. I think her's Eric Benet, he's a musician, right? Or an actor, I think something like that. Dave Justice was a very good bell, and then her first husband was French, and then she's gonna go with the guy from Edmonton. Yeah. Absolutely. Podcaster podcaster for Edmonton. Yeah. Yeah. Hope you like drinking milk. Delicious milk. We buy a four liters at a time and it's the script for this movie. I'll be like What do you guys give the script for this movie? Insane script. I give it an eight. Just insane. Yeah, I think that's the correct score. I'm gonna give it an eight too. Yeah. It was it was like it works. And it and I didn't know what was gonna happen. The whole time I was watching, I have no idea how this movie's gonna end. So that was interesting. Just no reason for them to to rob banks. Just I know li life's rough on people but like only one of them had a really good reason to rob the bank. And even after the first job she could have just cut the ties, so yeah, fifty five hundred dollars is enough to get my kid back. Yeah. The art direction for this movie the sets, the props, the costumes, squibs, the bouncing cars. I love it. And Brent probably hates it because to me this is nineties. This is what the nineties were like. And so I'm giving it a ten. I absolutely love it. It's a ten. It's the nineties, but it's not white nineties. It's real nineties. It's it's I don't know. It's just it looked good. It looked good. I give it a ten too. I I liked I loved the way everything looked. I thought ⁓ all the all the women looked so beautiful. I love their wigs, ⁓ the cars were cool. It gets a ten for me. The music for this movie, what did you guys think of the soundtrack for this film? If it could get a twelve, it would. So it gets a ten. It's so good. The songs are good. You can listen to this whole album. And it's like R B. Like it's not just rap. It's R B. And the rap is hard nineties rap. It's not like pussy pop rap. Like Pussy Pop rap. You heard it here first, the North American Friends. I'm sure that's PPR. No PPR. Pussy Pop Rap. This is a pussy pop rap song. I give it I give it a 10 as well. Yeah, it was the it was great. It was great. ⁓ so many, so many opportunities to play. Some some real good stuff. They didn't. I don't like R and B. I don't like R and B. I give it an eight. The only thing I I could have extra used is like ⁓ Queen Latifah doing a Will Smith style song at the end of the movie where she's like, ⁓ my god. Yes. It would have been great. ⁓ mate. The genre for this film. It's a crime action film. It's gotta have crime. We set it up. So this it th there is a set-in-off song by Queen Latifa, hold on. Just think of me and Festus driving around Baden go off a bridge. What what else? ⁓ yeah, this is a I just said it. What did I just say? Crime. It's a crime action film. It's gotta have crime, it's gotta have action. Yeah. This is that and I don't like ⁓ and it gets a ten. 'Cause it's like this is what that is. This is doable crime and doable action, which I like. ⁓ I could picture myself robbing a bank. I could picture myself getting gunned down in a place of glory. So ten. Yeah, I liked when ⁓ Queen Latifa drove the car into the bank to pick them up. That was pretty cool. That was hard. I was like, that's pretty cool. So Tanner led to her demise, but it is cool. She just was like balls to the wall. She didn't give a fuck. Ursula did though. Poor Ursula's poor Ursula. ⁓ this ⁓ this month is all about watch rewatching films that we watched when we were a kid. Now, I had never seen this when I was a kid. This was the first time I watched this movie. But If someone had only watched this when they were a kid and were going to re watch it, would you recommend? Yeah, I mean, I I'm a adult. I watched it. I could watching this as a kid would have been wild as hell. I would I don't know. If like if you if you're another kid and someone's like, What's your favorite movie? and they're like, Set it off, like, all right. I don't got much to relate with you, so we're just gonna go on our own way. ⁓ yeah, it I give it a 10. It's good. It's a good movie. I think I have to because it was so distressing. Yeah. It's like a 10 on the distressing scale. It's funny, like if you were a kid when you saw it, would you make it like, yeah, that gets a 10 for that? Like, damn, you gotta figure out what was going on with you when you were a kid. Holly. K Traver Festive saying, ⁓ no, well, should I set it off? Should I set it the fuck off? This movie gets a forty seven point three, one of the highest rated movies in the history of the NFA N AFC. This is what the best part of the show is because the I came up with the the the the ⁓ topic of adult eyes, movie that you saw as kids, and then I gave my pick. And then if you had told me that we we were one of these movies you'd be watching Clean Queen Latifah get caught down, I'd be like, What? We grow up fast and festive. We're all quick and festus. They really do. No. Holy shit. Well, that means that Nate is gonna choose It's time for me to pick pick my movie. Schindler's list. What are we going on this side? No. ⁓ god. I I remember going This movie had such an impression on me as a child that I remember going to see it in the movie theater in 1994 when we were on vacation in Winnipeg. That's how specific my memory is of seeing this movie. I was the ideal audience for this film as an eight-year-old child. It blew my mind. And I have never watched it again since that moment. I cannot wait till next week, where we're gonna watch a movie from 1994 called. The Mask, starring Jim Carrey and Cameron Diaz. I also saw this in theaters and I've not seen it since. I can't. I remember, I don't know if it's good, but I remember loving this fucking movie. I was like, holy shit. What film? Yeah, Rhapsody. This is cinema. It was the first time I said cinema as a child, eight-year-old child's like, I think I just witnessed the cinema. So that's what we're gonna watch next week. The mask, starring James Carey. And that means all that's left to do is say goodnight, Kate. Good night, Kate. Good night, Kate. You know what happened to Stanley Ipkis. See what happens to his dog Mike. Together. Get your dog away from me. I'm sorry he seems to be attracted to you. They're taking a bite. Carrie is the mask. This has gotta be a new green. ⁓ ready PG-13. Now playing everywhere. I like to think that Nick is proud. I guarantee he was. Never spoken to him, but I know him well enough to know that in his heart he's like, I'm with the big dog. Look at this red lip.
