- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn Danish with Fexingo. I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna. Episode 116. We've learned fruit and vegetables before, but today we're actually buying them at a farmer's market. Lucas: Right. So you'll need phrases like 'Hvad koster et kilo?' That's 'What does a kilo cost?' Let's say it together: Hvad koster et kilo? Luna: Hvad koster et kilo? Lucas: Good. Now imagine you want a kilo of apples. You'd say: 'Jeg vil gerne have et kilo æbler.' I'd like a kilo of apples. Repeat after me: Jeg vil gerne have et kilo æbler. Luna: Jeg vil gerne have et kilo æbler. That sounds like a lot of apples. Lucas: Well, maybe you're making a pie. Now, if the price is good, you can say: 'Det er billigt.' That means 'That's cheap.' Say it: Det er billigt. Luna: Det er billigt. I like that one. Lucas: And at a market, you can often taste before you buy. So ask: 'Må jeg smage?' May I taste? Try it: Må jeg smage? Luna: Må jeg smage? Oh, that's useful. Lucas: Then when you're done, you say: 'Tak for handlen.' Thanks for the purchase. Say it: Tak for handlen. Luna: Tak for handlen. That's a nice way to end. Lucas: Exactly. Let's run through all five. Hvad koster et kilo? Luna: Hvad koster et kilo? Lucas: Jeg vil gerne have et kilo æbler. Luna: Jeg vil gerne have et kilo æbler. Lucas: Det er billigt. Luna: Det er billigt. Lucas: Må jeg smage? Luna: Må jeg smage? Lucas: Tak for handlen. Luna: Tak for handlen. That's a lot to remember, but I think I can do it. Lucas: You will. Let's put them in a scene. You're at the market, and you see a stall with apples. What do you ask first? Luna: Hvad koster et kilo? Lucas: The seller says it's 20 kroner. You think it's a good price, so you say... Luna: Det er billigt. Jeg vil gerne have et kilo æbler. Lucas: But you want to taste one first. So you ask... Luna: Må jeg smage? Lucas: The seller lets you taste. It's delicious. You buy them, and as you leave, you say... Luna: Tak for handlen. Lucas: Perfect. You just shopped like a Dane. Luna: It feels good. And you know what else feels good? That this show is ad-free. I love that. Lucas: Totally. And it stays that way because a handful of listeners support us on buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. It's a small thing that makes a big difference. Luna: Yeah, if you've been learning with us and find it useful, it's an easy way to help us keep going. Lucas: Absolutely. Now, back to the market. Imagine you see some strawberries. How would you ask the price? Luna: Hvad koster et kilo? Lucas: And if you want a kilo, what do you say? Luna: Jeg vil gerne have et kilo jordbær. Lucas: Jordbær, strawberries. Good. You're already using the pattern. One more time — all five phrases. I'll start: Hvad koster et kilo? Luna: Hvad koster et kilo? Lucas: Jeg vil gerne have et kilo æbler. Luna: Jeg vil gerne have et kilo æbler. Lucas: Det er billigt. Luna: Det er billigt. Lucas: Må jeg smage? Luna: Må jeg smage? Lucas: Tak for handlen. Luna: Tak for handlen. Lucas: You did great. That's all for today. Practice these phrases before your next market trip. Luna: I will. Thanks, Lucas. Thanks, Fexingo. See you next time. Lucas: Vi ses. Take care.
