- 0:00What's up everybody, Charlie Marlow here we are live on the
- 0:04Kenny Wallace YouTube channel. Thank you for joining us.
- 0:09I really appreciate that. We've already got a couple
- 0:11people watching, couple comments.
- 0:13I'm going to read your comments 1st and give everybody a chance
- 0:18to jump on the live stream. We got Marcus Villarreal first,
- 0:24my driver Christopher Bell, one at Bristol, C Bell getting it
- 0:28done and then Jim Tolliver saying I really enjoyed the
- 0:33Bristol race. Lots of action, passing tire
- 0:36strategies, cars fighting to get back on the lead lap, Mustangs
- 0:40on fire, marbles the size of golf balls.
- 0:45It had everything. And then Brian Lacortic says,
- 0:49yes, good race, Randall G good morning, good afternoon.
- 0:54All right, get your comments back in.
- 0:56I'll read some more, but I want to give you guys my opinion
- 0:59first, so I'll read your comments and questions in a
- 1:03second here. The reason I titled this was
- 1:07Bristle a good race. Was it because look, we always
- 1:11talk about the Jeff Gluck Poll, and I'm a big fan of the Jeff
- 1:15Gluck poll for this reason. It's like an election.
- 1:18It's a democracy. You can agree, you can disagree,
- 1:22but in the end, the people should decide.
- 1:25Not the media, not NASCAR, not people lobbying.
- 1:29It should be the people. So Jeff Glock's poll was Bristol
- 1:33a good race? 81% of you said yes.
- 1:38Only 19% said no. And the reason I think it's
- 1:43interesting more so this race is because I voted no.
- 1:48And by the way, I think I'm pretty neutral.
- 1:51I think I think I'm, I'm pretty fair.
- 1:54I'm not overly negative, I'm not overly positive, but hardly
- 1:58ever, hardly ever do I disagree with the people in the Jeff
- 2:03Glock poll. And so I, I didn't think it was
- 2:07a great race. No, I didn't think it was
- 2:09horrible, but I didn't think it was a great race for, for this.
- 2:13I was going to say this main reason, but there are two big
- 2:17reasons to me. We talked about this on Herman
- 2:20Schroeder earlier today. We just got done recording.
- 2:23It'll come out Wednesday. So I'll just give you the real
- 2:26quick story. We got a dumpster at our house.
- 2:29All weekend long, I'm moving stuff in and out of the
- 2:32dumpster. And so I'm watching the race
- 2:35Saturday night and I'm moving stuff in and out, but I'm
- 2:38stopping to check the race every time I come in and out of the
- 2:41house. And I just kept thinking to
- 2:43myself, this freaking race is under caution every single time
- 2:49I look at the TV. And then I saw this stat and
- 2:53I'll, I'll find it for you. But we did discuss this earlier.
- 2:56So I think I have the right numbers here.
- 2:58So there were 14 cautions. There were 137 laps worth of
- 3:04caution, which is the most lapse ever in the modern era of
- 3:11NASCAR, the most lapse ever under caution, not necessarily
- 3:15the most cautions, the most cautions at Bristol ever.
- 3:19We look this up. It's tied three different races
- 3:23for 20 cautions. This race had 14 cautions, but
- 3:28it had 137 laps worth of cautions.
- 3:32And This is why I didn't think it was particularly a great
- 3:36race. And I'll, I'll try to find the
- 3:39exact tweet, but somebody did the math on this and it
- 3:42basically said if the race lasted like 3 hours and 45
- 3:46minutes, I think that's about what it was.
- 3:48I'm, I'm I'm ball parking, but I'm pretty close here.
- 3:51If the race lasted 3 hours and 45 minutes, the time run under
- 3:56caution was over 2 hours. It was something like 2 hours
- 3:59and 3 minutes. To me that's like, that's pretty
- 4:02crazy if you think about what other sports are trying to do to
- 4:06keep sports interesting. Obviously football has changed
- 4:09all the defensive rules. Whether you like them or not,
- 4:12you can't touch the quarterback. They want more scoring, they
- 4:14want more action, they want more offense.
- 4:16Look at what baseball did a couple years ago with the pitch
- 4:18clock. The whole reason baseball went
- 4:21to the pitch clock was they wanted more action.
- 4:25They didn't want the dudes stepping out-of-the-box taking
- 4:2925 seconds, the pitchers taking 40 seconds between pitches,
- 4:33action, action, action. We have a low attention span ADD
- 4:38sports audience. We want action.
- 4:41So for me, the fact that that race, they're just doing caution
- 4:44laps for two hours. I didn't love that, but I'm
- 4:47being fair. I get it.
- 4:49Y'all like the strategy, the crazy tirewear.
- 4:53We can get into that. I also, and I'm adding I'm
- 4:55adding a third now. I mean, the fact that they
- 4:59people talk about gimmicks and all that and WWEI mean the fact
- 5:02that NASCAR really wasn't prepared for the tire wear and
- 5:05they had to basically say, hey, teams, you get another set of
- 5:08tires that screws with a lot of strategies.
- 5:12I don't think that was fair right there.
- 5:14So that was kind of my that was my third part.
- 5:17I mentioned so many laps under caution and again, great finish,
- 5:21great finish. Love the finish.
- 5:23I'm not being a hater. But the other part, and, and
- 5:26maybe this is where I've been programmed to expect more, is
- 5:31this was a cut off race. And I think most of us love
- 5:35watching cut off races for the fact that there's usually crazy
- 5:39drama at the end. There's usually crazy drama,
- 5:43Who's in, who's out at the end. The whole reason NASCAR went to
- 5:47the playoff format is to have the cutoff race nights where you
- 5:53just glued to the TV. If not, hey, go back to the 36
- 5:56race schedule. Mark Martin will be happy and
- 5:58all that. But the fact that there was very
- 6:00little drama whatsoever in terms of the four drivers being
- 6:05eliminated. Now, I do know, look for a while
- 6:07there, Alex Bowman was leading the race and he was right there,
- 6:12top five. I think he finished, by the way,
- 6:13let me look. He finished well as well well as
- 6:18well. Well, well, well, Alex Bowman
- 6:21finished 8th. So I understand that if Alex
- 6:24Bowman wins, that makes it interesting.
- 6:26Now on the cut line a little bit with who that had been Ross
- 6:30Chastain. Let me just let me just ring
- 6:33them off for you because I don't have the greatest memory either.
- 6:37So, yeah, there was a time at that race when Alex Bowman is
- 6:41leading where you're then thinking, OK, it's down to I
- 6:47think Ross Chastain at the time. So Tyler Reddick is the is the
- 6:5212th place driver right now. And I'll read those those
- 6:55standings off to you. But my point is to me, way too
- 6:58many laps under caution and no cut off playoff race drama.
- 7:04So that's that's to me. I'm not saying I hated the race,
- 7:07by the way, the Jeff Glock pole is just it's just was it good,
- 7:12yes or no? If you had more options, like
- 7:15was it a great race? Was it a good race?
- 7:18Was it an OK race? Was it a bad race?
- 7:20I wouldn't have put bad. I wouldn't have put great.
- 7:23I would have fallen somewhere between, actually, I probably
- 7:27would have put mediocre, whatever that, whatever that
- 7:30word would be, mediocre neutral, blah, blah, blah.
- 7:33So that's my take on it. Christopher Bell wins, you got
- 7:39Joe Gibbs Racing sweeping, sweeping the opening round of
- 7:42the playoffs. Even more impressive is 3
- 7:45different drivers, three different drivers win.
- 7:49Chase Briscoe wins Darlington, Denny Hamlin wins our race here
- 7:52in Saint Louis. I'm located in Saint Louis if
- 7:55you didn't know that. By the way, please put your
- 7:57comments in, give us a like, if you haven't subscribed yet,
- 8:01please do that. We appreciate that.
- 8:03And then of course, Christopher Bell, good on the last restart
- 8:08and he wins. And then Ty Gibbs, by the way,
- 8:10Speaking of JGR drivers now, Ty Gibbs, obviously not in the
- 8:14playoffs, but Ty Gibbs had a hell of a run, led the most
- 8:18laps. Let me find that for you because
- 8:22I looked this all up. I was looking up all the stats
- 8:24earlier this morning when we recorded Herman Schrader.
- 8:28Ty Gibbs finished 10th. He led 201 laps of this race.
- 8:33He led the most laps of this race.
- 8:37We've already discussed. Obviously a lot of these laps
- 8:39were under caution. Chase Briscoe led the second
- 8:42most, 127. Siebel only LED 12 laps in the
- 8:48last, what, four or five? Whatever it was on the restart,
- 8:52but give Joe Gibbs Racing a ton of credit.
- 8:56They've dominated the first round of the playoffs.
- 9:00So those are my opinions right there.
- 9:04The Tirewearer stuff. And then I'll I'll kind of
- 9:06elaborate before I get to you guys on the chat and I
- 9:10appreciate you guys jumping in. We got 49 people of you watching
- 9:14right now live. I appreciate that.
- 9:16And I do these live streams by the way, just to get you guys
- 9:19involved. I think you guys like commenting
- 9:22and and what not. Yeah, I'm not Kenny Wallace, I
- 9:24get it. But I'm somebody, right?
- 9:30OK. The other part that I haven't
- 9:32really thought of, but I've kind of always thought of this, which
- 9:36is, and this is a big picture problem.
- 9:39It's an offseason problem. It's a next year problem.
- 9:43But I'm I'm not going to pretend like the tire issues, whatever
- 9:49it is, good, bad in between. There's so much pressure on
- 9:52Goodyear to get this right. Every race, different tracks,
- 9:58different track temperatures, the temperature changing 5°,
- 10:03which made a huge impact. Let's be honest.
- 10:05Also why they're doing this because of the next Gen. car,
- 10:09which is not perfect. It has its problems.
- 10:12I think most people would agree with that because the Next Gen.
- 10:15car, they're so similar, it's hard to pass blah blah blah.
- 10:19NASCAR is relying on Goodyear to bail out the car in my opinion.
- 10:24And so Goodyear every week, different track, different
- 10:29weather, different length, day, race, night, race, whatever it
- 10:33is. There's so much pressure on
- 10:35Goodyear to try to solve the racing with the tire when it
- 10:41should be the opposite. The tire shouldn't have to bail
- 10:44out the car. In my opinion.
- 10:47The car should be able to bail out a tire.
- 10:50The car, the car is the same. The car, the car needs to race
- 10:54better and it's not something they can change right now.
- 10:57They can do the horsepower increase coming up off season.
- 11:01They can figure stuff out. They're going to let the teams
- 11:03tinker and all that. They got to do something.
- 11:05They got to do something. But those are my thoughts.
- 11:08I know people like the strategy, the bump in the physicality, the
- 11:12cording of the tires. I get that there was some
- 11:16entertainment value to all of those things that I just
- 11:19mentioned. But to me, the 2 biggies way too
- 11:22many laps under caution, that's boring and not enough cut line
- 11:26drama for a cut off race. So there you go, 11 1/2 minutes
- 11:32in, let's go to the chat and see what y'all are talking about.
- 11:39Drake Steffy Got to love them Chevys Tropy cannabis.
- 11:44Todd, it was a driver's race. Driver's race and strategy.
- 11:51Marcus, you're famous lol. Henry Abrigo, great day.
- 11:57Awesome content brother. Thank you for sharing NASCAR
- 12:00news and insights. Let's see, I think we should go
- 12:05to Waffle House for chicken and eggs and iced tea, OK?
- 12:11Felt like old Bristol, old Bristol from Tony Kendrick.
- 12:16Mike Martin says great race but tires wore too fast.
- 12:21Talk about all the fires. I thought NASCAR fixed this
- 12:24issue with the Next Gen. car. The original fire issue though.
- 12:29Remember Kevin Harvick? That was the first year.
- 12:33That was the first year. If you think about the evolution
- 12:35of the Next Gen. car, the first year was the safety issue.
- 12:40That was cars on fire, Kevin Harvick car on fire.
- 12:44He comes out, he's very critical.
- 12:47And then also, of course, Kurt Busch.
- 12:49Kurt Busch has the concussion. It essentially ends his career a
- 12:54bit early. He probably wasn't going to race
- 12:56much after that, but year one of the Next Gen. car was fixing the
- 13:00safety. I'm trying to think I'm, I'm
- 13:05trying to think of it. Am I wrong on this?
- 13:08We've always thought this with the passing, but I feel like
- 13:10this is year 4 of the Next Gen. car.
- 13:12I feel like this is the year where it's really hit critical
- 13:15mass with the racing of the car. Year one, safety, year two and
- 13:20three. What were we talking about?
- 13:23I feel like we're kind of over the safety stuff and I feel like
- 13:27we were, we were starting to discuss the race ability of the
- 13:29car, but this is the year where we've really focused on the race
- 13:33ability of the car. And you've had big names again.
- 13:36Kevin Harvick says the car sucks.
- 13:38Dale Junior says he's not a fan of the car.
- 13:40Year 4 here is when we've really seen.
- 13:43I mean, you tell me guys, besides the lawsuit, which is a
- 13:46constant, constant storyline, the Next Gen. car being a
- 13:50problem has been a discussion for the entire season 2025.
- 13:55And it really plays into that Jeff Kluck poll week after week
- 13:59after week, which I brought up at the beginning, which was that
- 14:0281% of the folks thought Bristol was a good race.
- 14:04And I actually disagreed. And I rarely ever disagree with
- 14:07that Jeff Kluck poll again, because in my opinion, too many
- 14:10cautions and not very much cut line drama, which is normally
- 14:14the case for a cut off race in the playoffs.
- 14:17Five star, yes, tires that wear. Let's see, Brian Lucorchik says
- 14:24rather have drivers manage their tires than run 500 qualifying
- 14:28laps. I get that too.
- 14:30That was the whole argument that Matt Weaver was making.
- 14:32Matt Weaver, who does a great job covering the sport, he
- 14:35contributes on this channel. We posted his interview with
- 14:38Brad Kozlowski on this channel. It's like 2 minutes.
- 14:40You can check it out. But that was his whole his whole
- 14:43storyline. I didn't read his article
- 14:45because I was too busy watching all of his videos, but he's
- 14:48basically saying binary choice. Look, we all want to fix the
- 14:51car. I would think the car is not
- 14:53going to be fixed right now. So if you have to choose between
- 14:56a tire wear race craziness like Saturday night or Kyle Larson
- 15:01dominating and frickin leading 400 some laps, what do you
- 15:05choose? I think most people would choose
- 15:08the tire wear race, including me.
- 15:10I totally get that. But still, that's to me more
- 15:15micro issue. The macro issue is next Gen.
- 15:18car. We got to fix it.
- 15:19But I do agree, if you're giving me a choice and I have to choose
- 15:22between Saturday night tire wear or Kyle Larson dominating, not a
- 15:27lot of passing, I'm certainly going to take Saturday night's
- 15:31race over some of the things we've seen previously at
- 15:34Bristol. So Brian Lacortic saying old
- 15:38Bristol, let's see we got Tony Crivello.
- 15:43What's making the rubber sticking to the underside and
- 15:45Catching Fire? Too many times since this car
- 15:48came about. Brian says blame TV for that.
- 15:51Are you talking about the cut line drama?
- 15:52I'm guessing Chi Town says liked everything about the race except
- 15:58for the fires. That is BS.
- 16:00OK fire is bad. I feel like this is like Beavis
- 16:03and Butt head Fire fire. Remember that fire?
- 16:08Fire. I'm 43 years old, OK?
- 16:11I grew up with Beavis and Butt Head back in the day.
- 16:14Yes, fire is bad. Mark McGwire said steroids is
- 16:17bad. OK, but so am I wrong when I say
- 16:21am I wrong? It's my opinion?
- 16:22Am I the only one thinking that there were way too many laps
- 16:25under caution? Did that not bother you guys
- 16:26that two hours of the race was run under caution?
- 16:29I get the hour 43. Whatever it was.
- 16:31You got to watch racing. You like the racing?
- 16:34If more than half the race is under caution, that's not very
- 16:36entertaining to me. Am I in the minority?
- 16:38It sounds like I am. Let me know.
- 16:41It was nice seeing Bristol have it all.
- 16:44That's from Falcon 1824. There were more empty seats than
- 16:49caution laps. That's from tracks former 41.
- 16:55Too many caution laps. Valid complaint.
- 16:57All right, you agree with me there.
- 17:00Tires is what wins a race from Harry Hog, Wade says.
- 17:05I think it was a good race simply because it was different.
- 17:08I get that the tire wear made it more entertaining and exciting,
- 17:10and one of the best cars drivers still won.
- 17:13I agree. Tony Corbello seems like NASCAR
- 17:16doesn't care about having people in the seats less to clean up
- 17:19after the race. OK, let me bring this up real
- 17:23quick. I don't want to steal material
- 17:25from Herman Schrader. This is a very small part of the
- 17:28show, but we did. I read this earlier, Kenny
- 17:32Wallace sent me this. So I'm going to find it for you
- 17:35real quick. It's about this creative
- 17:38marketing agency that NASCAR hired to kind of go back to the
- 17:41roots, the good old days. So I'll just read these stats.
- 17:44NASCAR is doubling down on its brand amid momentum for the
- 17:48sport. NASCAR Cup Series broadcasts
- 17:50averaged 2.7 million viewers per minute, the highest among US
- 17:54Motorsports properties. That's right.
- 17:56Now ticket sales are up 6% year over year.
- 18:02Nobody's saying it's 1518 years ago, but it is up ticket sales
- 18:05wise 6% year over year. Digital platform visits have
- 18:09grown 10% and social followers now total 18,000,000 across
- 18:13platforms, an increase of 1.5 million since the start of 2025
- 18:18according to the brand. So that's like, that's like an
- 18:22increase of what, about 10 percent, 11%, whatever that
- 18:25number is. So I get you seeing some empty
- 18:28seats, but it's actually on a slight uptick from last year.
- 18:31So we do have to put these things in perspective.
- 18:34Gib Salisbury says it was an absolute joke.
- 18:38I didn't call it a joke, but I didn't love it.
- 18:41And I just think the adding tires at the end, I mean, so
- 18:46they they clearly they weren't prepared for the tire wear
- 18:49there. There is, it's fair to say
- 18:50there's a little bit of WWE in there that all of a sudden you
- 18:52have to change the strategies during a race.
- 18:55What Ross Chastain said after the race, again during his Matt
- 18:59Weaver interview. He's like, just tell me how
- 19:01we're racing. Just prepare me.
- 19:04Let all the drivers and teams and crew chiefs know what's
- 19:07going on. That's what's fair.
- 19:10Let's see. Yeah, here we go.
- 19:12Shy town. NASCAR should have had the tires
- 19:14ready to go before the race started in case they need them.
- 19:17Yep. I agree.
- 19:18Brian Mccorchick. Meh.
- 19:21Kevin Gallagher. It was OK, but boring.
- 19:22That's kind of where I was. OK Too many caution laughs.
- 19:26Lisa Jones. Hello, Charlie.
- 19:28Kenny is quite busy. He is.
- 19:30He did the show, by the way, he won last night at Quincy.
- 19:33And his daughter is and he can let me say this because he
- 19:38already said it to you guys, all in coffee with Kenny.
- 19:40His daughter is in labor right now.
- 19:42So he he finished Herman Schrader and then he drove right
- 19:45to the hospital. So he is very, very busy.
- 19:48Let's go homestead in the wood with D Hello everyone.
- 19:53That's what Kenny EG says hello everyone here from Eastern
- 19:56Kentucky again, hit that like and subscribe.
- 19:58Thank you Lisa Jones. Race was OK.
- 20:01That's what I thought race sounded exciting on PRN.
- 20:04There's another way to look at it.
- 20:05There's so many different ways to watch a race in person.
- 20:08Different experience than on TV. Different experience than on
- 20:13radio. TV you might go.
- 20:15Kind of boring, but maybe the broadcasters elevate the
- 20:17product. Maybe the broadcasters elevate
- 20:20the product. On radio you don't have the
- 20:21pictures. I thought Amazon Prime's
- 20:24coverage was amazing when they had the five races.
- 20:27I thought they elevated the TV product both pre race, during
- 20:31the race and post race with all of their hour long post races
- 20:34and all that. Bowline Rail fan To me, the race
- 20:39was exciting at the start with the tires and it was great
- 20:41seeing the cars running on the bottom lane and using bump and
- 20:43run again. Overall, even with cautions, it
- 20:46was great. All right, that's cool.
- 20:48Don't disagree about the caution lapse, that's from Brian
- 20:50Mccorchick. Engineers can't touch the car.
- 20:53But I do agree with you, the car driver should take care of the
- 20:56tires. Yes, after the last two races at
- 20:59Bristol Motor Speedway, yes, this felt like the Bristol that
- 21:02fans love from the 90s to 2007. I was in attendance for the last
- 21:06four races and the race was anything but boring.
- 21:09David Bradley. Yeah, I don't know if when I say
- 21:12boring, I mean can't we agree with that?
- 21:15Caution laps are boring and there were too many.
- 21:17That's all I'm saying. Way too many caution laps.
- 21:19You can't have two hours of caution laps.
- 21:23I've been happy with that. If I was there only been to
- 21:26Bristol for the inaugural dirt race, why did they ever go to
- 21:29concrete anyway? Bring this tire back in the
- 21:33spring you will see a different race because teams will
- 21:35anticipate the fall off and you will have tires lasting for 60
- 21:38to 70 laps. David Bradley V Ginger P Well
- 21:43Bristol is a rough track in my opinion.
- 21:44I've been twice and one races car crash right in front of the
- 21:49VIP section and one race cars crash right in front of the VIP
- 21:52section. Worn out asphalt is king.
- 21:56Brian Mccorchick tires. Lisa Jones, more horsepower
- 21:59would still be nice. Brian Mccorchick, Larson has
- 22:02been all messed up since his Indy crashes.
- 22:06Yeah. Wasn't he good last week,
- 22:07though? Larson, what was his finish at
- 22:12at Saint Louis? He was leading or he was up
- 22:15front a lot of that race. St.
- 22:17Louis yesterday, Larson finished.
- 22:21Where did he finish 32nd? 32nd for Kyle Larson.
- 22:28Let's go to Saint Louis. St.
- 22:30Louis. I thought it was 12th.
- 22:31Yeah, Kyle Larson finished 12th at Saint Louis, but the 52 laps
- 22:36LED. Let's also remember Hendrick.
- 22:40Hendrick has not been great since the playoffs have started.
- 22:45Joe Gibbs and Toyotas have dominated.
- 22:48Just because I'm on these results, let's check that real
- 22:50quick. Let's check Hendrick drivers for
- 22:52the three playoff races. OK, not one Hendrick driver in
- 23:00the top ten at Darlington. You got to go.
- 23:06I mean, we all know Darlington that they were bad.
- 23:10Let me just double check. So I'm not saying the wrong
- 23:12thing here. Hendrick, Darlington, you got
- 23:17Kyle Larson 19th, William Byron 21st, you got Alex Bowman 31st,
- 23:24and you got who did I miss there?
- 23:28Where's Chase? Chase Elliott?
- 23:32Chase Elliott was 17th at Darlington, so 17th, 19th, 21st
- 23:38and 31st at Darlington. I'll just do this real quick.
- 23:41My point is Larson, yeah, Larson certainly looked like had a
- 23:46slump after Indy, but the last three races or so, you got to
- 23:51basically say that that Hendrick also has been in a slump.
- 23:55So Chase Elliott did finish third at Saint Louis, and who
- 24:00else? William Byron, 11th at Saint
- 24:03Louis. Kyle Larson, 12th at Saint
- 24:05Louis. Alex Bowman was 26th at Saint
- 24:11Louis. Remember, Alex Bowman at
- 24:12Darlington also had the terrible pit stop.
- 24:14So Hendrick terrible at Darlington, a little bit better
- 24:18at Saint Louis, and now we'll go to Bristol and Hendrick Bowman
- 24:24was 8th, Byron was 12th. Where are we going here?
- 24:30I already mentioned, I mentioned Kyle Larson 32nd.
- 24:35Chase Elliott was out after 311 laps.
- 24:38He was 38th. So yeah, Hendrick terrible at
- 24:42Darlington, a little bit better at Saint Louis.
- 24:46And then so Saint Louis was their best race and then kind of
- 24:51sporadic there at Bristol, including Chase Elliott being
- 24:5438. So while I'm here, let's go to
- 24:58the playoff standings just to give you all an update.
- 25:04So Denny Hamlin in first, he's plus 26 to the cut line.
- 25:09William Byron's second, he's 24 + 24 to the cut line.
- 25:13Kyle Larson, third, also plus 24 to the cut line.
- 25:16Christopher Bell, he's won a race.
- 25:18Just one Bristol plus 20 to the cut line.
- 25:20Ryan Blaney, fifth plus 19 to the cut line.
- 25:23Chase Briscoe 6th plus 10 to the cut line.
- 25:27Chase Elliott 7th, +5 to the cut line.
- 25:30Bubba Wallace 8th plus one to the cut line.
- 25:33And the guys that are right now beyond the cut line, Austin
- 25:38Sindrich one point back, Joey Logano, 2, Ross Chastain 2,
- 25:42Tyler Reddick three. You got to think there'll be a
- 25:45lot more cut line drama, we would think coming up here in
- 25:48the round of 12 down to the round of eight.
- 25:51We didn't see hardly any cut line drama from the round of 16
- 25:55to the round of 12, unfortunately.
- 26:00Let's see, We'll go back to the chat, chat, chat.
- 26:05David Bradley. They went to concrete because
- 26:08asphalt from the early 90s was not sticking.
- 26:10So they went to the concrete. No caution lapse length to sell
- 26:14commercials. Brian, burning bridges.
- 26:19I don't think they can ever bring it back to where it was.
- 26:21NASCAR really thought the woke crowd was going to hang out.
- 26:23They were just there for the grift and then left.
- 26:26Yeah, I also think all corporations went.
- 26:29If you want to get into this, certainly most corporations went
- 26:33too far woke and I think you're seeing a correction.
- 26:37You're seeing a correction in the last year or so.
- 26:40We'll be back to the the real good old days.
- 26:43No, should it, should there been a little correction?
- 26:47What I'm saying is should you, should you have gone the
- 26:49direction of the woke? A couple percentage points?
- 26:53When I say woke, I just mean like a little more PC, but not
- 26:57way more PC. And I don't even love PC, but
- 27:00I'm talking here and there. We can argue about all this
- 27:04stuff if you want to, but they certainly went too far that
- 27:08direction. But now you're seeing a course
- 27:10correction coming back. Let's see.
- 27:15I thought the race was a rec fest.
- 27:17Rob Johnson laps don't count under stage caution.
- 27:23Ken Ruggles, what do you mean by that?
- 27:28No, I get that. But I'm saying still too, too
- 27:30many, way too many, way too many caution laps overall.
- 27:35What I'm saying is 200 or two hours of caution laps, and I
- 27:39think the number was like 100 and 37138 laps, whatever it was
- 27:43under caution, which was the most in the modern era of
- 27:46NASCAR, the most laps under caution, that's 49 years.
- 27:50We look this up, that's like 49 years, 17171 races.
- 27:55Bristol was the most laps under caution.
- 27:57That's too much for me. Shy town.
- 28:02NASCAR was running all those caution laps because they knew
- 28:05teams wouldn't have enough tires to finish.
- 28:06Yeah. So isn't that boring, or am I
- 28:09wrong? The lapse between stages is
- 28:12ridiculous. I don't mind that normally just
- 28:16because it does give you a chance to go to the bathroom.
- 28:18Way too many chances to go to the bathroom in this race.
- 28:21But if you drank a lot of beer, you need to go to the bathroom.
- 28:24So I get that. I think more people in stands if
- 28:28it's if the tickets were cheaper from Alisa Jones.
- 28:31Yes. People today don't see what we
- 28:34saw in NASCAR years ago. They don't change engines.
- 28:36They don't see 10,000 parts working together to make that
- 28:38car go fast. The youth don't see that.
- 28:41Yeah, it's from burning bridges. Are you calling me the youth?
- 28:45Am I the youth? I'm 43.
- 28:47I know. I have a babyface.
- 28:50I love the Amazon Prime races. Homestead.
- 28:52Yes, I agree, they're great. Tickets aren't expensive when
- 28:56that many are available. Just shop the secondary market.
- 28:59Brian Mccorchick, congratulations to Kenny on his
- 29:02win and on being a grandfather again.
- 29:04Yes, Bowline Rail fan. I mean, he's got to have, I
- 29:08don't know exactly. He's got to be having now what,
- 29:10678 grandkids, something like that, 5-6, something like that.
- 29:14He's got a bunch. Tires were too fast, Maybe they
- 29:18could make them just a little less soft.
- 29:21That's from Patricia. It's all about how well a driver
- 29:24can maneuver the cookie cutter Irock cars around the track.
- 29:27Ken Ruggles, not a fan of the next Gen. car I loved.
- 29:30I rock racing better than some higher dollar team winning
- 29:33everything all the time. Dominance is boring.
- 29:36I think there's a happy medium there though.
- 29:38I think. I think we want a little more.
- 29:40In my opinion, I like the fact that the Next Gen. car has
- 29:44equalized, that smaller teams have a better chance to win.
- 29:48I don't mind the better teams though, having a little more of
- 29:51an advantage, A little more of an advantage.
- 29:54NASCAR sucks is trending. Is that true on X?
- 29:58I'm going to look that up right now.
- 30:00NASCAR sucks is trending. Is that accurate?
- 30:05Let me find them. Let me look.
- 30:07Let me look at my trending, trending, trending.
- 30:12Lot of politics trending in sports.
- 30:17Let's see. I'm not seeing that.
- 30:21I'm not seeing that. I'm going way down.
- 30:23I'm going way down. I don't see any NASCAR sucks
- 30:27trending on X. I mean the people love this
- 30:31race. 81% Jeff Glock pole. People like this race.
- 30:36Let's see Brian Mccorchick Racing isn't just for gearheads
- 30:40that care more about technology and performance.
- 30:42It's about entertaining sports fans.
- 30:43Sports fans like drama and a lots of offense.
- 30:46I agree. And really look, I love you
- 30:49diehards. I love you diehards.
- 30:51They got to get the casuals though.
- 30:53When you start getting the casuals is when you start to
- 30:55really see the ratings explode. Jim Tolliver My wife and I were
- 31:00there in a sweet overlooking turn 4.
- 31:02I enjoyed the race very much. There were some empty seats but
- 31:04it was still crowded. Took 2 1/2 hours to get back to
- 31:07the hotel after the race so that ain't good.
- 31:12D Turner 40 Problem is the start of that race would not have
- 31:15played out like it did and be so screwed up if NASCAR would have
- 31:18had a couple one hour practices. Unknown package.
- 31:21Let's try to save money and screw the fans.
- 31:24Brian Lacorte. Cracker Barrel keeps their
- 31:27mascot. Let's see, you need to count
- 31:32laps under caution lol, unless you want a 5 hour race.
- 31:36Yeah, my point if if you're coming at me for that, I
- 31:39understand that. I get that.
- 31:41Isn't 2 hours of caution lapse too much?
- 31:44I mean, am I, am I in the minority?
- 31:45I guess I am. I just think every time I look
- 31:47at the TV caution, every single time I look at the TV, it seem
- 31:51like they're under caution. That's my point.
- 31:54Let's see. All right, I'm going to try to
- 31:56read all of your comments. Boo, Boo, Boo Jeremy Gilly.
- 32:02How would the race have played out if the severe tire wear
- 32:04would have been known from practice or even expected prior
- 32:07to the drop of green? Teams can play with setups to
- 32:09increase tire life as well, but that's where I do give NASCAR
- 32:13some leeway. Apparently the five degree drop
- 32:17in temperature is the reason the tires responded that way.
- 32:20It's hard to predict things like that, but then again, this is
- 32:23the point you're asking the tire to always bail out the car.
- 32:27It's got to be the other way around you.
- 32:29You have to big picture fix the next Gen. car.
- 32:33NASCAR needs a red flag if cleanup is going to take too
- 32:35long. Red flag.
- 32:38Yellow flag. To me, it's still it's not.
- 32:40It's not cars going around the track exciting in green flag.
- 32:46To me, yellow caution is just as a boring as a red flag.
- 32:49And the car sitting there parked.
- 32:52Let's see. Robert Beanbein, I think if the
- 32:57team would have known there was going to be a problem, they were
- 32:59able to change setups, it probably would have been better.
- 33:03Ken Ruggles This one is 6. What does that mean?
- 33:06I don't know. Tim Garrett.
- 33:07Stock car racing isn't a sticking ball.
- 33:11Stop trying to be them. I enjoyed it, was a great race.
- 33:14Live is way better when you can see everything.
- 33:16I agree. I watched Saint Louis live, it
- 33:18was awesome. I'm sure some people watching on
- 33:20TV didn't love it. I was there.
- 33:21It was fantastic. Cautions are unpredictable.
- 33:24Bristol laps click off quickly. That's true, True.
- 33:27But it's still 2 hours, 2 hours. That's been my .2 hours of
- 33:32caution laps. Lord Jesus has been good to
- 33:35Kenny. 8 grandkids is certainly a blessing.
- 33:38Yeah, if that's the right number, it's it's right around
- 33:40there. Jeremy Gilley 100% tires are not
- 33:43the long term solution, just a short term Band-Aid.
- 33:45The question is, is NASCAR looking at it like this?
- 33:48I think so. They're needing the the tires to
- 33:51bail out the car for 2025. Hopefully they can make some
- 33:54significant changes that make a big difference in the offseason
- 33:58so that the racing is better in 2026 and beyond.
- 34:01We all know they're not getting rid of the next Gen. car.
- 34:04Let's improve it. Let's make it as raceable as
- 34:07racy as possible. Brian Lucorchik says true.
- 34:10There you go. I have read every single one of
- 34:12your comments. I really appreciate all you guys
- 34:14doing this. I'm going to try to jump on
- 34:17every Monday after the race if I can, if it's possible.
- 34:21I did it last week. I started it last week because I
- 34:23was at the Saint Louis race. So I thought I had a little more
- 34:25to to say. But also I like reading your
- 34:29guys comments and getting you involved as well.
- 34:32So there you go. Brian Mccorchick says more
- 34:34horses and hopefully less shifting.
- 34:36There you go, let's end on that. Thank you very much for
- 34:38watching. Please comment like subscribe
- 34:40and we'll see you next week. Remember Herman Schrader coming
- 34:42out Wednesday and the Kenny conversation with Tim Ward Audio
- 34:47comes out Thursday on Dirty MO Media.
- 34:51Lisa Jones says God bless all. God bless you as well.
- 34:54Lisa Jones, see you later. Thanks for watching 35 minutes.
- 34:58We just hit it. Boom, time to end the stream.
- 35:00End stream.
