- 0:00Happy Tuesday morning, everybody.
- 0:04You know what that means, don't you?
- 0:06It's Tuesday, my favorite day of the week.
- 0:12Yeah. Hey, Yeah.
- 0:15You guys want to go up to The Dells this weekend?
- 0:18Yeah. Want to go to Clear Lake?
- 0:22Yeah. And.
- 0:23But we'll stop over it whole chunk, don't you know?
- 0:27Yeah, stop it. Stop it.
- 0:33Those are my people. Kim's family all lives in
- 0:37Milwaukee, and they do not talk like that.
- 0:41No. Yes, they do.
- 0:43Tuesday. Can't help it.
- 0:50All right, It is Tuesday. And Kim and myself are getting
- 0:59ready to head up to the Arrow Puerto here in St.
- 1:02Louis, MO, home of the big one. Speaking of St.
- 1:06Louis, MO, our Cardinals, our baseball Cardinals, they are
- 1:10winning a lot down at spring training.
- 1:13I don't know how that's going to transfer into the real season.
- 1:17Respond right here. Auggie Nash.
- 1:20Hi, Auggie. I don't know if he watches or
- 1:23not, but Auggie is on a social media lot and talks about our
- 1:27Cardinals every day. I love watching baseball.
- 1:32Always ready for baseball season, they say.
- 1:36How do you think the Cardinals are going to do this year,
- 1:38Herman? I say listen, enjoy the game and
- 1:43look up at the standings in August.
- 1:47OK everybody, we're going to go to the Arrow Puerto and I am
- 1:53headed to Bike Week down in Daytona Beach.
- 2:00Brother Rusty, nephew Steven. They have their motorcycle
- 2:05company, Southern Country Customs.
- 2:08They have it set up in Ormond Beach at the Broken Spoke right
- 2:12there on Hwy. 1. Come see us.
- 2:16Steven's been down there for a solid 5 days or more.
- 2:20I think they have 1 motorcycle left to sell, but you can order
- 2:24them. So pay attention to all social
- 2:28media sites. That is Southern country
- 2:31customs. They they have the best
- 2:36motorcycles. I, I always say that Rusty and
- 2:39Stevens motorcycles, they are the Ferrari, they are the
- 2:43Lamborghinis. People marvel at them.
- 2:45They look at them there and then they buy them and they only have
- 2:48one bike left. They went down with 9 and they
- 2:51have one left and I don't it could be sold.
- 2:55I know they sold one again last night.
- 2:58So I think that was their show bike.
- 3:01That was the copper king that was the bike had all the
- 3:04speakers on it. So check them out.
- 3:06Southern country customs. I'll be down there around 3:00
- 3:10today. All right, subject matter.
- 3:18Today when I went to the NASCAR race in Austin, TX, one of our
- 3:27great leaders in NASCAR said something to me and I will never
- 3:31forget it. He said Herman, we don't have
- 3:37mechanics anymore, we have engineers.
- 3:42And I looked at him with my eyes as big as silver dollars.
- 3:45I said, oh that is really good. I said let me put that in my
- 3:49phone. So that's the subject matter of
- 3:52the day. Times have changed, everybody.
- 3:57We don't have mechanics anymore, We have engineers.
- 4:02Well, as soon as I wanted to complain about that, I realize
- 4:08it's the same way for our passenger cars.
- 4:12The car that you're driving, you cannot work on it anymore.
- 4:18You know, I guess you could say long ago was the car that you
- 4:23could park in your driveway and somehow finagle your way
- 4:28underneath. Drain the oil, pull the oil
- 4:32filter out, put one in, put in 5-6 quarts of oil or oil.
- 4:40That was a mouthful. You know, change spark plugs,
- 4:44Put a rotor cap on air filter, check the air in your tires.
- 4:51That was the service that you could do right there.
- 4:55And boy, you felt good about it. You'd get your buddies gathered
- 4:59up back in the good old days and you'd you'd get a six pack of
- 5:06beer and you'd say, come on over, I'm going to change the
- 5:10oil and filters, spark plugs, rotor button, check there in my
- 5:16tires. And buddy, you did that and you
- 5:19was just about set for the year depending how much you drove
- 5:22your car. So as I get ready to complain
- 5:26that NASCAR doesn't have mechanics anymore, they have
- 5:31engineers. I realize it's that way right
- 5:35here at home. I want to tell you some things
- 5:42that I saw that blew my mind. You know, I go to the NASCAR
- 5:47races, I go to about 11 a year and you know, I have the ability
- 5:53to do whatever I want to do. They're very nice to me.
- 5:56Walk down through the garage area.
- 5:58But this time I went out on Pit Rd. and you know, you go through
- 6:02the garage area and you, you marvel at the cars and you're
- 6:05like, my God, these things have changed so much.
- 6:08One thing I noticed is that they don't Weld on them anymore.
- 6:12If you Weld on a NASCAR race car, you're illegal because you
- 6:17buy these cars. They're kit cars and you bolt
- 6:21them together. That's why they see, you know,
- 6:25the mechanics. I guess you know, it's one way
- 6:29of explaining that you know what?
- 6:30We don't have mechanics, we have engineers.
- 6:33But it really is that way because you're not allowed to do
- 6:37any body work. You're not allowed to spread any
- 6:39bundle on the car. You can't do anything to change
- 6:46the nature and the way you bought the car.
- 6:48Every piece has got a parts number on it.
- 6:51NASCAR inspects it. If they see just a little rough
- 6:54up of the body, they're like, well, this is illegal.
- 6:58Now, I'm not saying anything's bad.
- 7:00I'm just bringing the point up that we are in a new world,
- 7:03everybody. So I go out on pit Rd. and the
- 7:08first thing I noticed is that every every single pit area has
- 7:13a large generator. We're talking 7000, you know,
- 7:20whatever you want to call that a lot.
- 7:23And then the next pits might have a diesel generator.
- 7:28We're not talking like we're not talking little old generator.
- 7:31We're talking 700 or bigger. And I'm like, why?
- 7:35Why do they all have these generators?
- 7:37Well, then right there, right there on a stand, on this big,
- 7:41beautiful stand is Starlink. Each pit box has their own
- 7:48computer system. And then besides, you know, the
- 7:52sponsors sitting right there, you know, the pit wagons are
- 7:57like a sponsor's dream. You all get to sit on them.
- 8:00You get to see what's happening. That's one way to entertain your
- 8:04sponsors. But they're talking back to the
- 8:06war room. Oh, yeah, big digital hook up
- 8:11right there at the racetrack and they'll and they'll be carrying
- 8:14on a conversation. You'll have 10 people back at at
- 8:19the race shops, most likely in North Carolina.
- 8:22You'll have 10 people in a war room.
- 8:24It looks like Star Wars. All these screens set up and
- 8:29you'll go, hey, you know Kyle Larson, he says his car is
- 8:34loose. It's wanting to spin out.
- 8:36What should we do? Well, the war room has massive
- 8:39amounts of information and they'll talk back and forth.
- 8:44Yes, now that's called telemetry.
- 8:47That's real time. I guess you could say telemetry.
- 8:51Now respond right here to me, Telemetry is devices on the car
- 8:58that are real time. You know, data is when you got
- 9:01to download what you're looking at, but you you can look at it
- 9:05in real time. That's happened in real time.
- 9:09Yeah. So anyway, just thought I'd
- 9:12bring that up. And boy, they dressed up.
- 9:14Every team now ropes off their car.
- 9:17So, like, when the cars are on the grid, I'm thinking, Oh my
- 9:19God, NASCAR's roped off these cars so the fans don't get in
- 9:24them. No, it's a monkey see, monkey do
- 9:27business. Every car I went passes like
- 9:31roped off and you could tell each team has done it
- 9:34themselves. All right, everybody, that's my
- 9:39headlines. And by the way, I hear you all.
- 9:42You're like, we need to go back to 5 lug nuts.
- 9:45That's white noise that is never happening.
- 9:49If you see what I saw, they'd have to build a new race car.
- 9:54All right, everybody have a great Tuesday.
