  uh, four players that we're honoring.

  Um, you know, Hay Samson, Thomas Palmer,

  Cole and, uh, and Josie. So, you

  know, it's u managers are are the people

  behind the scenes that don't get a ton

  of love, a ton of credit, but man, they

  they put in so much work um, and so much
• 0:23
  time and so much dedication. And um you

  know what we do wouldn't be possible you

  know without the hard work that they put
• 0:30
  in every single day. Um you know they
• 0:33
  rebound for our guys at all different
• 0:34
  times of the day and at night and uh you
• 0:36
  know just do a lot of the things that

  you know they don't get a ton of
• 0:39
  recognition for and I wish we could
• 0:40
  recognize them more. So uh just super
• 0:43
  appreciative of them and all their
• 0:45
  efforts. Um you know players you know

  Reed Trap, CJ Williams, two of our
• 0:49
  walk-ons. um two guys that have been on
• 0:51
  our scout team for a couple years and uh
• 0:53
  have just continuously gotten better
• 0:55
  each and every year, each and every
• 0:57
  practice and have helped us, you know,
• 0:58
  continue to just get better um you know
• 1:01
  uh and help us get prepared for games,
• 1:03
  you know, and then obviously Keshan
• 1:04
  Murphy and Keshan Hall, you know, having
• 1:06
  their senior nights. So, you know,
• 1:08
  really hoping that, you know, we can
• 1:09
  send those two guys out on a strong
• 1:10
  note. you know, they've had the the
• 1:12
  opportunity to play in front of the best
• 1:13
  fans in college basketball this year and
• 1:16
  uh you know, hopefully we can do it one
• 1:18
  more time for them um on on Tuesday
• 1:20
  night. So, um you know, just really
• 1:23
  appreciative of you know, all the
• 1:25
  contributions that you know, all of our
• 1:27
  seniors have made uh to to this year's
• 1:29
  team. So, that take any questions.

  Stephen, I know you said you need to

  maybe look at the film a little bit

  regarding the three-point defense

  against Old Miss, but just after looking

  at that, I mean, just what I guess kind

  of stood out to you looking at the film

  >> Yeah, unfortunately, just a lot of the

  same mistakes. Um, you know, just kind

  of overhelping um off the strong side

  when you're when we're not supposed to.

  um you know when guys drive at middle um

  you know it requires help and uh you

  know guys they knock down shots. So I

  think it's just a lot of the same stuff

  that we we we've been doing um some of

  the mistakes that we've been making you

  know consistently just kind of coming

  back and you know biting us in the butt.

  So um you know just got to be able to

  you know translate some of the drill

  work uh in into the games. you know, uh,
• 2:22
  Philip closes out with his hands down,

  you know, on like the first possession

  and, you know, we we work on that in
• 2:28
  practice every single day and, you know,
• 2:29
  Philip's more accountable than anybody
• 2:31
  and he he recognized it right away, you

  know. So, it's just, you know, small

  details like that of stuff that we work
• 2:37
  on in practice every single day has got
• 2:38
  to be able to translate into the games
• 2:40
  and, uh, you know, it just it just
• 2:42
  hasn't done that as of late, especially,

  you know, on on those three-point shots.

  You talked earlier this season about
• 2:48
  having an issue with guys not always
• 2:50
  being on time. Saturday you mentioned,

  you know, Murf not starting because of
• 2:53
  that. I guess how concerning is it for
• 2:54
  that to still be an issue at this stage
• 2:56
  in the season?

  >> Yeah, Murf's been late once all year, so
• 2:59
  that was an honest mistake. And, you
• 3:01
  know, uh I I I have so much love for
• 3:03
  Murf. Um, you know, but I've been pretty
• 3:06
  consistent in my discipline for guys
• 3:08
  that haven't been on time. And I can't
• 3:10
  change that standard just because one
• 3:11
  guy that's you know been consistent all
• 3:13
  year like it's everyone's got to get
• 3:15
  treated fairly and treated the same and
• 3:17
  you know um you know Murphy's late one
• 3:18
  time and uh he didn't start because of
• 3:20
  it and um you know we just you know we
• 3:24
  have a standard and uh you know if guys
• 3:26
  are going to be making this amount of
• 3:28
  money you know expectations and
• 3:31
  standards have to be held. Um and uh
• 3:34
  that's that's how we're going to run our
• 3:35
  program. So, um, you know, not asking a
• 3:38
  ton. You know, I'm not, um, and Murf's
• 3:41
  been phenomenal all year in that aspect.

  He, you know, his alarm didn't go off

  and that happens sometimes like, but,

  you know, at the end of the day, like,
• 3:49
  you know, guys got to handle that
• 3:50
  discipline and, you know, get on to the
• 3:51
  next play and, um, you know, hopefully
• 3:53
  we can do that moving forward.

  saying the other night, y'all are

  probably off now, but you still have a

  shot to play your way on back into the

  tournament. How much do you kind of

  emphasize that especially with one more

  home game coming up obviously Bama

  coming up next week before whatever

  happens in the tournament next week?

  Yeah, I mean we're still in control of
• 4:12
  our own destiny and you know um you know

  if you win these next two you're
• 4:16
  probably in um but you know regardless

  like you got to take it one game at a
• 4:20
  time and we we got to take we got to do

  everything we can to beat LSU and um you
• 4:25
  know it's in the moment it doesn't feel
• 4:27
  that way because obviously we had such a
• 4:29
  tough string of you know over our last
• 4:31
  eight um and have had a lot of things
• 4:33
  just not go our way but at the end of
• 4:35
  the day through all the difficulty and
• 4:37
  all the struggles like we're still in
• 4:38
  pos position to make the tournament and
• 4:40
  Uh, you know, we just got to trying to
• 4:42
  find a way to have that belief and, uh,
• 4:46
  you know, just we know it's there. You
• 4:48
  know, we we have six really good wins
• 4:50
  this year against six teams that are
• 4:52
  locked to be in the NCAA tournament and
• 4:54
  we just got to find a way, you know, we
• 4:55
  showed a lot of film of those games
• 4:56
  yesterday and um, you know, they just
• 4:59
  our guys got to find a way to kind of
• 5:01
  harness that and and just continue to
• 5:02
  believe because the coaches are are
• 5:04
  still locked in and the coaches are
• 5:06
  still doing everything we can to prepare
• 5:07
  for these games. And um you know we uh
• 5:10
  yesterday yesterday yesterday was
• 5:11
  obviously you know day after a late game
• 5:14
  um weren't able we weren't able to a ton
• 5:16
  um but you know today we obviously need
• 5:17
  to have a great practice because we
• 5:19
  still you know have a chance to you know
• 5:22
  do everything that we want to accomplish
• 5:23
  as as as crazy as that continues to
• 5:25
  sound you know at 15 and 14. Um you know
• 5:28
  we play the schedule that we play so we
• 5:30
  you know put ourselves in position to
• 5:32
  still be able to get in the tournament
• 5:33
  if uh you're not able to win some of
• 5:35
  those games. So, we just got to, you
• 5:37
  know, find a way to stay locked in and
• 5:38
  stay consistent with what we're doing.

  And if we can eliminate some of the
• 5:41
  mistakes that we continuously make on
• 5:43
  the defensive end, um, and even the
• 5:45
  offensive end. And I I don't want to
• 5:47
  just frame it like it's just the
• 5:48
  defense. You know, we had 16 turnovers
• 5:50
  that led to 20 something points. Like
• 5:52
  that's or 14 that led to 18 or 19
• 5:54
  points. That that's significant. So, um,
• 5:57
  you know, we just got to cut down on
• 5:58
  some of our mistakes that we just, you
• 6:00
  know, we get up seven and, you know, we
• 6:04
  get the ball stolen from us and, you
• 6:05
  know, we gamble on defense a couple
• 6:07
  times and then we get up eight in the
• 6:08
  second half. We do the exact same thing.
• 6:09
  So, we got to value possessions more
• 6:11
  when we have leads and if we do that, we
• 6:12
  can win some of these games.

  >> Stephen, LSU's got, you know, another
• 6:17
  team with a guard at the top of the
• 6:18
  scout who's pretty effective from three.

  Just what do you see from from Max
• 6:21
  McKinnon when you look at that team and
• 6:23
  from LSU's offense as a whole?

  Yeah, I mean he can obviously, you know,
• 6:27
  make threes at a high high rate, but you
• 6:29
  watch the miss game and he hit like six
• 6:31
  tough twos and that's just, you know,
• 6:33
  he's a really talented scorer. So, um,
• 6:36
  you know, our guys got to take some
• 6:37
  pride in their one-on-one defense and,
• 6:38
  you know, would be great for us to be
• 6:40
  able to lock down a really good player.

  Um, but, you know, he the reason why
• 6:45
  he's so he's so good and effective is,
• 6:47
  you know, they got really good players
• 6:49
  around him, too. Um, you know, Sutton is
• 6:52
  just incredibly productive and does a
• 6:54
  lot of really good things for him and
• 6:54
  their bigs do a great job of getting
• 6:56
  offensive rebounds and getting him extra
• 6:58
  possessions and, you know, we just we
• 6:59
  got to find a way to shut his water off

  because when he scores, you know,
• 7:02
  they're they're obviously really
• 7:03
  effective. I thought Oklahoma did a
• 7:04
  pretty good job on them. He missed some
• 7:06
  some open ones that he typically makes.

  Um, but you know, they're they're a team

  that's still playing with a lot of
• 7:12
  confidence and a lot of, you know,
• 7:13
  energy and, you know, they're still
• 7:15
  playing, you know, it looks like they're
• 7:17
  still playing with a purpose and um, so

  we we got to we got to play with purpose
• 7:20
  tomorrow night in order to beat them.

  >> Yes. Ste, going off of that, they've

  been a pretty good team on the road this
• 7:26
  year compared to compared to at home.

  Just kind of what I guess you talked

  about it just a second ago, but like

  just what have you seen from them for a

  team with a, you know, three and 13 SEC

  record? They they they play hard all the
• 7:36
  way to the end. Yeah, I mean they're

  three and six in true road games this

  year and you know um that's all three of
• 7:42
  their SEC wins have been on the road. So

  you know that that tells you everything
• 7:45
  you need to know right there that you
• 7:46
  know they might be more comfortable away
• 7:48
  from home. So um you know our guys got
• 7:51
  to really be locked in and you know miss
• 7:54
  kind of the same way. You know Miss that
• 7:56
  was their third true road win as well.

  So like that's another team that might
• 7:59
  be better on the road than they are at
• 8:01
  home. So, uh, got to understand that,

  you know, they're going to be coming in
• 8:04
  because they just came off a difficult
• 8:05
  one at home, similar to us and, uh, you
• 8:07
  know, they're going to be coming in here
• 8:08
  fighting for everything.

  >> When you talk about mistakes on offense

  lead to turnovers kind What's the

  biggest thing y'all are looking to kind

  of kind of slow down because that that

  had not been a problem for y'all in

  backtoback games until last week?

  >> Yeah. Um, you know, just trying to

  execute the simple things that we talk
• 8:26
  about, you know, um, as soon as you draw
• 8:28
  two guys, get off it. And every time we
• 8:30
  did that, we got a wideopen shot. You
• 8:31
  know, every time we didn't do that, it
• 8:33
  led to a turnover. Um, you know, just,
• 8:36
  you know, IQ plays, you know, late in
• 8:38
  the first half. Um, you know, at the
• 8:39
  very end there, we we get an offensive
• 8:41
  rebound on a free throw set and we turn
• 8:42
  the ball over out of bound instead of
• 8:43
  bringing it out and, you know, trying to
• 8:45
  go for the last shot. Just small things
• 8:47
  like that. Um, you know, not throwing
• 8:49
  strikes on passes. We had two, you know,
• 8:51
  Todd had two entry passes, one to Elijah
• 8:54
  and one to KO that both resulted in
• 8:56
  turnovers. So, it's just like just small
• 8:58
  things like that. You know, I'd rather

  us be I'd rather us turn the ball over
• 9:02
  being aggressive than just, you know,
• 9:04
  just being sloppy. And um you know, we
• 9:07
  got to find a way to cut that cut that
• 9:08
  down because, you know, great teams are
• 9:10
  going to take advantage of you and
• 9:12
  they're going to score on those
• 9:13
  opportunities. And that's, you know,
• 9:14
  what Miss did a really good job of. And,
• 9:16
  you know, you could look at Texas A&M
• 9:17
  and say the same thing like teams that
• 9:19
  have we turn the ball over against have
• 9:21
  taken advantage of it. And so, we got to
• 9:22
  we got to try and eliminate those
• 9:23
  mistakes offensively.
