March 4 - Kindness When Answers Are Absent · Bible Chat Devotional

• 0:02
Welcome to Bible Chat, where we have devotional conversations
• 0:06
rooted in Scripture and relevant for today, March 4th, when life
• 0:11
feels empty but God is enough. Have you ever felt like you were
• 0:14
running on empty? Like you're showing up to
• 0:17
school, work, church, even conversations, but inside you
• 0:21
feel drained. You smile, you nod, you keep
• 0:24
going. But deep down, there's this
• 0:26
quiet ache that says something is missing.
• 0:29
In Job Chapter 7, verse seven, Job says, remember that my life
• 0:33
is a breath my eye will never again see.
• 0:35
  Good. That's heavy.
• 0:38
Job felt so overwhelmed by loss and pain that he couldn't
• 0:41
imagine good days ahead. Maybe you've had moments like
• 0:44
that, moments when hope feels distant and joy feels like
• 0:49
  something other people experience.
• 0:52
But Proverbs Chapter 11, verses 24 to 25 gives us a surprising
• 0:56
truth. One gives freely, yet grows all
• 0:59
the richer. Another withholds what he should
• 1:01
give and only suffers want. Whoever brings blessing will be
• 1:05
enriched, and one who waters will himself be watered.
• 1:09
That feels almost backward. When you're empty, the natural
• 1:13
instinct is to pull back, to protect what little energy you
• 1:16
have left. Yet God says there's a blessing
• 1:19
in continuing to give, to encourage, to show kindness.
• 1:23
In Psalm 26, verses 2 to 3 says, Prove me, O Lord, and try me.
• 1:28
Test my heart and my mind, for your steadfast love is before my
• 1:33
eyes, and I walk in your faithfulness.
• 1:36
David chose to keep God's love in front of him even when
• 1:39
circumstances weren't perfect. He anchored himself in God's
• 1:43
character, not in his changing emotions.
• 1:46
When life feels empty, it's tempting to believe God has
• 1:49
stepped away. But emptiness doesn't mean
• 1:51
  absence. Sometimes it's an invitation.
• 1:55
An invitation to discover that God himself is enough.
• 1:59
Maybe right now you feel unnoticed.
• 2:01
Maybe you're giving your best and not seeing results.
• 2:05
Maybe you're tired of trying. But what if watering someone
• 2:08
else, sending that encouraging text, helping a friend, serving
• 2:11
quietly becomes the very thing God uses to water you?
• 2:16
What if choosing generosity in a dry season opens your heart to a
• 2:20
  deeper experience of his presence?
• 2:23
And what if being honest with God, like Job, pouring out your
• 2:26
frustration instead of pretending, actually draws you
• 2:29
closer to him? God isn't afraid of your
• 2:32
honesty. He would rather hear your raw
• 2:35
  prayer than your silent withdrawal.
• 2:37
When everything else feels uncertain, His steadfast love is
• 2:40
  still steady. His faithfulness doesn't
• 2:43
fluctuate with your feelings. When life feels empty, God is
• 2:47
not less present. Sometimes He is doing His
• 2:50
deepest work. So keep walking, keep trusting,
• 2:53
keep giving, not because you feel full, but because He is
• 2:56
faithful and He is enough. Let's pray.
• 3:00
Heavenly Father, you see the places in my heart that feel
• 3:03
empty right now. Thank you for staying near even
• 3:06
when I feel drained or discouraged.
• 3:09
Help me to be honest with you about my struggles.
• 3:12
Teach me to trust your steadfast love and to keep walking in Your
• 3:15
faithfulness. Give me the courage to bless
• 3:18
others even in dry seasons and fill my heart with the hope that
• 3:21
you are more than enough. In Jesus name, Amen.
• 3:26

Now I invite you to spend time with God in today's three-year
• 4:49
Bible reading plan. Proverbs Chapter 11 verses 24 to
• 4:54
26 World English Bible. There is one who scatters and
• 4:59
increases yet more. There is one who withholds more
• 5:02
than is appropriate, but gains poverty.
• 5:04
The liberal soul shall be made fat.
• 5:06
He who waters shall be watered also himself.
• 5:09
People curse someone who withholds grain, but blessing
• 5:12
will be on the head of him who sells it.
• 5:14
Psalm chapter 26 World English Bible by David Judge me Yahweh,
• 5:20
for I have walked in my integrity.
• 5:22
I have trusted also in Yahweh without wavering.
• 5:24
Examine me Yahweh, and prove me. Try my heart and my mind, for
• 5:29
your loving kindness is before my eyes.
• 5:31
I have walked in your truth. I have not sat with deceitful
• 5:34
men, neither will I go in with hypocrites.
• 5:37
I hate the assembly of evildoers and will not sit with the
• 5:40
wicked. I will wash my hands in
• 5:42
innocence. So I will go about your altar,
• 5:44
Yahweh, that I may make the voice of Thanksgiving to be
• 5:47
heard and tell of all your wondrous deeds.
• 5:50
Yahweh, I love the habitation of Your house, the place where Your
• 5:53
glory dwells. Don't gather my soul with
• 5:55
sinners, nor my life with bloodthirsty men.
• 5:58
In whose hands is wickedness. Their right hand is full of
• 6:01
bribes. But As for me, I will walk in my
• 6:03
integrity, redeem me, and be merciful to me.
• 6:07
My foot stands in an even place in the congregations.
• 6:10
I will bless Yahweh. Job, Chapters six to seven World
• 6:14
English Bible. Then Job answered, Oh, that my
• 6:17
anguish were weighed, and all my calamity laid in the balances,
• 6:20
for now it would be heavier than the sand of the Seas.
• 6:23
Therefore my words have been rash, for the arrows of the
• 6:26
Almighty are within me. My spirit drinks up their
• 6:29
poison. The terrors of God set
• 6:31
themselves in a ray against me. Does the wild donkey Bray when
• 6:35
he has grass, or does the ox lo over his fodder?
• 6:38
Can that which has no flavor be eaten without salt, or is there
• 6:42
any taste in the white of an egg?
• 6:43
My soul refuses to touch them. They are as loathsome food to
• 6:47
me. Oh, that I might have my
• 6:48
request, that God would grant the thing that I long for.
• 6:52
Even that it would please God to crush me, that He would let
• 6:55
loose His hand and cut me off. Let it still be my consolation.
• 6:59
Yes, let me exult in pain that doesn't spare, that I have not
• 7:02
denied the words of the Holy One.
• 7:05
What is my strength? That I should wait?
• 7:07
What is my end, that I should be patient?
• 7:09
Is my strength the strength of stones, or is my flesh of
• 7:12
bronze? Isn't it that I have no help in
• 7:15
me, that wisdom is driven away from me?
• 7:17
To Him who is ready to faint? Kindness should be shown from
• 7:20
his friend, even to Him who forsakes the fear of the
• 7:23
  Almighty. My brothers have dealt
• 7:25
deceitfully as a brook, as the channel of brooks that pass
• 7:28
away, which are black by reason of the ice in which the snow
• 7:32
hides itself in the dry season. They vanish when it is hot.
• 7:36
They are consumed out of their place.
• 7:38
The caravans that travel beside them turn away.
• 7:41
They go up into the waist and perish.
• 7:43
The caravans of Tema looked. The companies of Sheba waited
• 7:46
for them. They were distressed because
• 7:48
they were confident. They came there and were
• 7:51
confounded. For now you are nothing.
• 7:53
You see a terror and are afraid. Did I ever say give to me, or
• 7:57
offer a present for me from your substance, or deliver me from
• 8:00
the adversary's hand, or redeem me from the hand of the
• 8:03
oppressors? Teach me, and I will hold my
• 8:06
peace. Cause me to understand my error.
• 8:09
How forcible are words of uprightness?
• 8:11
But your reproof, what does it reprove?
• 8:13
Do you intend to reprove words, since the speeches of one who is
• 8:16
desperate are as wind? Yes, you would even cast lots
• 8:20
for the fatherless and make merchandise of your friend.
• 8:22
Now, therefore, be pleased to look at me, for surely I will
• 8:25
not lie to your face. Please return.
• 8:28
Let there be no injustice. Yes, return again.
• 8:31
My cause is righteous. Is there injustice on my tongue?
• 8:35
Can't my taste discern mischievous things?
• 8:37
Isn't a man forced to labor on earth?
• 8:40
Aren't his days like the days of a hired hand?
• 8:42
As a servant who earnestly desires the shadow, As a
• 8:45
hireling who looks for his wages, So I am made to possess
• 8:49
months of misery. Wearisome Knights are appointed
• 8:51
to me. When I lie down, I say, when
• 8:54
will I arise and the night be gone?
• 8:56
I toss and turn until the dawning of the day.
• 8:59
My flesh is clothed with worms and clods of dust.
• 9:02
My skin closes up and breaks out afresh.
• 9:05
My days are swifter than a weaver's shuttle, and are spent
• 9:08
without hope. Oh, remember that my life is a
• 9:10
breath. My eye will no more see good.
• 9:13
The eye of him who sees me will see me no more.
• 9:15
Your eyes will be on me, but I will not be.
• 9:18
As the cloud is consumed and vanishes away, so he who goes
• 9:21
down to she all will come up no more.
• 9:24
He will return no more to his house, neither will his place
• 9:27
know him anymore. Therefore I will not keep
• 9:29
silent. I will speak in the anguish of
• 9:31
my spirit. I will complain in the
• 9:33
bitterness of my soul. Am IA sea or a sea monster?
• 9:37
That you put a guard over me when I say my bed will comfort
• 9:40
me, my couch will ease my complaint.
• 9:43
Then you scare me with dreams and terrify me through visions
• 9:46
so that my soul chooses strangling death rather than my
• 9:49
  bones. I loathe my life.
• 9:51
I don't want to live forever. Leave me alone for my days or
• 9:54
but a breath. What is man that you should
• 9:56
magnify him, That you should set your mind on him?
• 9:59
That you should visit him every morning and test him every
• 10:02
moment? How long will you not look away
• 10:04
from me nor leave me alone until I swallow down my spittle?
• 10:08
If I have sinned, what do I do to you, you watcher of men?
• 10:12
Why have you set me as a mark for you so that I am a burden to
• 10:14
myself? Why do you not pardon my
• 10:16
disobedience and take away my iniquity for now?
• 10:19
Will I lie down in the dust? You will seek me diligently, but
• 10:23
I will not be. Thanks for joining us on Bible
