- 0:02Speaker 1: NBA basketball fans, Welcome back to the NBA Playoff Banter Podcast.
- 0:08Speaker 1: He's Marshall, I'm Chris, and we're here to talk some hoops.
- 0:12Speaker 1: And you know, we were talking last week that you know,
- 0:16Speaker 1: these game ones could be interesting and some of these
- 0:19Speaker 1: road teams will probably get the dub. And sure enough,
- 0:23Speaker 1: who would have thought all four teams on the road
- 0:28Speaker 1: teams get the dub. I mean, that is just ridiculous.
- 0:31Speaker 1: I still can't believe it happened. And to make it
- 0:34Speaker 1: matters even crazier, you have two teams up to zero
- 0:38Speaker 1: with the knickt in Indiana. So we're gonna break down
- 0:40Speaker 1: the series where they're at. We're gonna start with Boston
- 0:45Speaker 1: and New York, who's about to tip off here any second.
- 0:48Speaker 1: Then we're so we'll go east, then west. We've already
- 0:53Speaker 1: done our preview and prediction we will you know, last week,
- 0:57Speaker 1: but we will kind of just catch up on the
- 1:01Speaker 1: series and see if in fact our predictions or thought process,
- 1:07Speaker 1: what has changed, what has stayed the same, that type
- 1:10Speaker 1: of thing. So, yeah, I'm really excited about this. This,
- 1:14Speaker 1: I mean, Gordon alone, this guy's hit so many big
- 1:20Speaker 1: shots like this has been a phenomenal playoff run. Man,
- 1:25Speaker 1: it's we're spoiled where we are just spoiled this year,
- 1:29Speaker 1: so you gotta love it. Hopefully it keeps going. Hopefully
- 1:31Speaker 1: we get a game seven. We know we got one
- 1:34Speaker 1: game six. We assume that there'll probably be another Game
- 1:37Speaker 1: six in there at least. But let's see. If this
- 1:41Speaker 1: is your first time listening to the NBA Playoff Banter podcast, Welcome.

- 2:45Speaker 1: go ahead and bring in my co host Marshall. Marshall, Man,
- 2:49Speaker 1: how the hell are you doing? We've had just a
- 2:53Speaker 1: phenomenal playoff run so far. We're about give or take,
- 2:59Speaker 1: you know, half way through the slate of these series,
- 3:04Speaker 1: first and foremost, how you doing in second of all?
- 3:06Speaker 1: What's going on?
- 3:07Speaker 2: Man?
- 3:07Speaker 1: What do you think of these playoffs?
- 3:10Speaker 2: I think that I'm doing good, and I think that
- 3:13Speaker 2: we've been spoiled. I think that normally the NBA playoffs
- 3:18Speaker 2: in general take a little while to heat up. But
- 3:21Speaker 2: we've been. We've been. We had a good Round one,
- 3:24Speaker 2: and I would say about a plus starts a Round
- 3:27Speaker 2: two because you look at how all this is going normally,
- 3:29Speaker 2: it's like, hey, we have like one good series in
- 3:32Speaker 2: round two, but we have like four, Like we're four
- 3:35Speaker 2: for four, which is pretty oft unlucky there, and there's
- 3:39Speaker 2: no sweeps either, so like we're we're pretty spoiled.
- 3:41Speaker 1: Man.
- 3:42Speaker 2: I won't lie, Like it's been really good. We've had
- 3:44Speaker 2: a little bit of drama in every series. Nothing's really
- 3:47Speaker 2: gone how people have expected it to, and people are
- 3:51Speaker 2: getting their hot takes on different teams and stuff, so
- 3:53Speaker 2: it's good.
- 3:53Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:54Speaker 2: I think this has been a really really fun starts
- 3:58Speaker 2: the playoffs, and I hope it gets better like partonies
- 4:01Speaker 2: like dude can out of what can trump this? But hey,
- 4:04Speaker 2: we could even be looking at some new teams in
- 4:06Speaker 2: the in the NBA Finals this year, which would make
- 4:08Speaker 2: it even more fun.
- 4:09Speaker 1: Possibly, Yeah, And I think that would set I don't
- 4:13Speaker 1: know when the how long it went, if it's this
- 4:16Speaker 1: modern day, but if if we hit seven different champions
- 4:19Speaker 1: in a row, that's some sort of record. I think
- 4:23Speaker 1: it's a modern day record. I'm not totally sure.
- 4:25Speaker 2: Maybe I know that you gut like Wolves had all.
- 4:29Speaker 2: But like if we would have said when the playoffs started, hey,
- 4:32Speaker 2: NBA Finals, Wolves Pacers sort of be like, eh, but
- 4:36Speaker 2: realistic right now that that's so legit has a good
- 4:39Speaker 2: chance to happen it. Who would have thought when the
- 4:40Speaker 2: play when NBA Game one started a Round one, that
- 4:43Speaker 2: a Wolves Pacers Finals could legit happen and that that'd
- 4:48Speaker 2: be pretty fun. Man, Like those are two fun teams.
- 4:50Speaker 2: So it's just you know, for a while they're being
- 4:52Speaker 2: a Golden State fan like I am in Lebron. It
- 4:54Speaker 2: was kind of like, dude, if you filled out to
- 4:56Speaker 2: Brackett's pretty chocky, right, Like, hey, it's gonna be Golden State,
- 4:59Speaker 2: gotta be Lebron. One of those team's gonna be in
- 5:01Speaker 2: the finals. Now you have a Legit could be Pacers, Wolves,
- 5:04Speaker 2: it could be ok C Boston, it could be you know,
- 5:07Speaker 2: Denver versus you know, Page. It's kind of fun, just
- 5:10Speaker 2: have a variety that normally is not quite available to
- 5:14Speaker 2: us as NBA fans in the playoff season.
- 5:16Speaker 1: Yeah, usually like, all right, that conference final is gonna
- 5:19Speaker 1: be awesome. We already know the other person that's ye
- 5:22Speaker 1: over or the team I should say, And yeah, you're right,
- 5:25Speaker 1: just in general, the first round, they're usually the first
- 5:28Speaker 1: two rounds, You're right. There's usually one maybe two series
- 5:32Speaker 1: where you're like this is great, but usually it's one
- 5:35Speaker 1: and maybe there'll be like even a five game series
- 5:38Speaker 1: that four out of the five are really good games,
- 5:40Speaker 1: but there's no drama as far as extending it and
- 5:43Speaker 1: stuff like that. So yeah, we have been spoiled, man,
- 5:47Speaker 1: and let's start in the East. New York Knicks go
- 5:54Speaker 1: up to zero on the E F and road. I mean,
- 6:01Speaker 1: it's just they gave up two twenty The Celtics gave
- 6:06Speaker 1: up two twenty point leads, one of them in the
- 6:09Speaker 1: fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter in those first two games,
- 6:13Speaker 1: they were like you mentioned the field gold mix, well,
- 6:18Speaker 1: nine of forty five, nine of forty five in those
- 6:22Speaker 1: two in those two fourth quarters. Not enough passing, not
- 6:27Speaker 1: enough ball movement. It just, uh, it's funny because you know,
- 6:33Speaker 1: we had that horrible night shooting right to close Game five.
- 6:39Speaker 1: I'm talking about the Timberwolves, and then they opened.
- 6:42Speaker 2: Up horrible right and then yeah yeah, like.
- 6:45Speaker 1: Then then a couple of nights later, boom, someone breaks
- 6:49Speaker 1: our record. And then Boston's like, hang on, we're gonna
- 6:52Speaker 1: break your guys this record. So it was first the
- 6:55Speaker 1: one game, then a two game combined. So Boston's got it.
- 6:59Speaker 1: We'll give it to him. That's no problem with me.
- 7:03Speaker 1: It's just crazy to see how this played out, and
- 7:07Speaker 1: nobody we're going to talk about where we think the
- 7:11Speaker 1: you know what's gonna happen, because I have heard plenty
- 7:14Speaker 1: of people that were calling for a sweep for Boston
- 7:17Speaker 1: already talking about another sweep because this is basically if
- 7:20Speaker 1: they win the next three, they would sweep them and
- 7:23Speaker 1: you know, win four two. But what are your thoughts
- 7:27Speaker 1: just in the nixt you know, playing like shit for
- 7:29Speaker 1: about three quarters one of the games. They did close
- 7:32Speaker 1: the third quarter well to make it reachable, but giving
- 7:35Speaker 1: up two twenty point leads and then just you know,
- 7:41Speaker 1: giving it up just completely, you know, bald movement, no,
- 7:47Speaker 1: just just just falling apart, man, just falling apart down
- 7:50Speaker 1: the stretch and those Game one in game two.
- 7:54Speaker 2: I think there's two different angles. The first one is
- 7:59Speaker 2: just the live and die by threes have always been
- 8:03Speaker 2: a thing. But I mean, I really think Boston's stinging
- 8:05Speaker 2: it to a new level, like, hey, let's just jack
- 8:08Speaker 2: up threes like fing crazy. It's what happens. Like, I
- 8:11Speaker 2: don't think that's necessarily smart, Like, oh, analytically, you know,
- 8:14Speaker 2: but like dude, y'all are twenty five for one hundred,
- 8:17Speaker 2: Like analytically that that's not good results, right, So I
- 8:21Speaker 2: do think sometimes to get a little get little gung
- 8:24Speaker 2: hole three point happy and then they lose a game.
- 8:27Speaker 2: And the other part, which I've kind of heard from
- 8:28Speaker 2: like some ESPN people and podcasts, is the fact that
- 8:32Speaker 2: is Missoula a good coach? And I'm this is like
- 8:35Speaker 2: a retweet, but I've heard, you know, some people say
- 8:37Speaker 2: it sounds a little logical, like last year they kind
- 8:40Speaker 2: of had an easier pat to the finals because the
- 8:43Speaker 2: Pacers were beating up. The Caps are beat up and
- 8:46Speaker 2: you know, and and they to give Missoula credit. I
- 8:48Speaker 2: believe he out coached in the finals and they outplayed Dallas.
- 8:51Speaker 2: But I heard a lot of people saying, do we
- 8:55Speaker 2: trust him to run this team? And you I mean,
- 8:59Speaker 2: obviously you can blame Tatum and Brown and the run
- 9:03Speaker 2: in threes, but I think it's a fair question of
- 9:06Speaker 2: how good of a coach is Missoula, Like maybe he
- 9:09Speaker 2: is a medium tier coach so far, because well, the
- 9:13Speaker 2: players are some blame. I think you gotta look at
- 9:15Speaker 2: the coach too, because the coach did give two toy
- 9:18Speaker 2: point games up and you could say Thibodeau's maybe got
- 9:21Speaker 2: him beat in that department. So the combination of the
- 9:24Speaker 2: jackup three is like crazy, And what do we truly
- 9:27Speaker 2: know about the head coaches? I think fair criticisms and
- 9:31Speaker 2: I guess I just tend to agree now again, obviously
- 9:33Speaker 2: the dude's got a ring out of his finger. But
- 9:36Speaker 2: I'm maybe looking forward to, like what adjustments will make.
- 9:39Speaker 2: Will they blow this again, or maybe Missoula has time
- 9:42Speaker 2: to prove himself, and he also needs a much younger
- 9:44Speaker 2: coach compared to a guy like who I've followed for
- 9:45Speaker 2: a long time in Kerr, you know, and obviously he's
- 9:48Speaker 2: not a vet yet. But I just think that's a
- 9:50Speaker 2: fair criticism because that just kind of is a combination.
- 9:53Speaker 2: Chris of Boston clearly is the better skilled team, but
- 9:59Speaker 2: when you shoot me and you jacked up poorly time
- 10:02Speaker 2: shots on the shot clock, which they did in Game one,
- 10:04Speaker 2: they were forcing shots up too early instead of maybe
- 10:06Speaker 2: milking a little bit more. And then your coach is
- 10:08Speaker 2: maybe under hot water a little bit because you're offensively
- 10:12Speaker 2: or Cats run on the fourth quarter. I think those
- 10:14Speaker 2: combinations are just kind of made it interesting. But if
- 10:18Speaker 2: the Celtics win tonight, do you feel nervous as the
- 10:22Speaker 2: Celtics fan at that point going back home? Probably not.
- 10:24Speaker 2: So It's kind of like that, hey, Knick's got up
- 10:26Speaker 2: two zero, awesome, we could see an upset, But if
- 10:29Speaker 2: it goes back two to two, now I feel that
- 10:31Speaker 2: that title wave is shifted back to the crash against
- 10:34Speaker 2: the Knicks pool and away from the Celtics pool.
- 10:38Speaker 1: So right, and there in game two there was a
- 10:42Speaker 1: seventeen to two run by the next and they had
- 10:45Speaker 1: missed ten The Boston had missed ten straight field goals
- 10:49Speaker 1: and over a six twenty nine or almost seven minutes,
- 10:54Speaker 1: zero field goals with two to eleven lap. There was
- 10:57Speaker 1: eighty six, eighty five and over all twenty one to
- 11:01Speaker 1: two run in the in the last seven thirty two
- 11:05Speaker 1: clock when they finally took their first lead with fifty
- 11:09Speaker 1: five seconds left. I mean, yeah, that's a good point
- 11:14Speaker 1: about the coach because you bring up Steve Kerr and
- 11:18Speaker 1: it's it's kind of a similar scenario how Kerr took over.
- 11:21Speaker 1: You know, It's like, yeah, they were showing promise with
- 11:25Speaker 1: Mark Jack. Yeah, different different exit obviously why they got
- 11:30Speaker 1: you know, uh, the exit thing. But I would definitely say,
- 11:35Speaker 1: you know, the coach who's at Houston now is a
- 11:37Speaker 1: better coach than him. Yeah, you know, I think that's
- 11:41Speaker 1: fair to say. And you know he was their coach
- 11:44Speaker 1: until something got messed up he made Yeah, yeah, they
- 11:48Speaker 1: didn't They didn't like some of you know what he did,
- 11:51Speaker 1: and that's fair, like everyone has whatever. And nowadays stories
- 11:59Speaker 1: become bigger, so social media because and it becomes like
- 12:01Speaker 1: a storm to where you just got to do something
- 12:03Speaker 1: about it. And you know, back in the day, it
- 12:07Speaker 1: barely would have been a story, you know what I mean,
- 12:09Speaker 1: And it may not even hit really, but that's that's
- 12:12Speaker 1: what it is. So I think that's fair. And you know,
- 12:18Speaker 1: you're talking as a fan of Golden State, who you know,
- 12:23Speaker 1: talk about Live and Die by the three They shot a.
- 12:25Speaker 2: Lot of free right them.
- 12:27Speaker 1: Houston and some other team were like the teams that
- 12:30Speaker 1: were way advanced in that scenario before people started not
- 12:34Speaker 1: necessarily catching up but using that formula. And the one
- 12:39Speaker 1: thing it is, though, there's a lot of wide open,
- 12:43Speaker 1: fucking shots though, you know what I mean. So it's
- 12:46Speaker 1: it's a weird, strange thing where like I hear you, however,
- 12:51Speaker 1: I think overall, as long as you're penetrating dishing, it's
- 12:54Speaker 1: a good shot. You keep taking them to an extent though,
- 12:57Speaker 1: and at some point, you know, like when they did
- 13:02Speaker 1: that play when it was like they called the time
- 13:07Speaker 1: out and Tatum got the ball, boom, he went right
- 13:10Speaker 1: to the racket dunked it. It was like, oh, okay,
- 13:12Speaker 1: well shit, you know, maybe they're gonna win, you know,
- 13:15Speaker 1: in your head a little bit, but I just think, yeah,
- 13:18Speaker 1: going to the rack more and just taking a mid
- 13:22Speaker 1: range whatever get fouled, just to rely on that so much.
- 13:27Speaker 1: And then of course they went out and hit twenty
- 13:29Speaker 1: of forty in Game three, right, So yeah, yeah, it's
- 13:34Speaker 1: I guess on average it'd be ten less because like
- 13:36Speaker 1: you said, it was twenty five of twenty of one hundred, yeah,
- 13:42Speaker 1: something like that. So yeah, I don't know. I mean,
- 13:47Speaker 1: I'll say this, I think that usually defense goes up.
- 13:54Speaker 1: Everything kind of goes up. That way, you start to
- 13:56Speaker 1: get to know each other in the playoff. But the
- 14:01Speaker 1: Knicks in Denver, if you look at you know, the
- 14:05Speaker 1: Knicks actually were like thirteenth something like that, whereas Denver
- 14:09Speaker 1: was like twentieth. But both those teams have actually up
- 14:13Speaker 1: a lot of their defense in these playoffs in general.
- 14:16Speaker 1: So I've kind of been impressed with that to an extent.
- 14:20Speaker 1: As this series goes on, obviously, depth starts to play
- 14:24Speaker 1: a part. Porzingis has this weird illness that he had
- 14:30Speaker 1: to leave the court for and all that they've been
- 14:33Speaker 1: a little banged up. They're relatively healthy though, so there's
- 14:37Speaker 1: really no excuse there. So going back to that first
- 14:43Speaker 1: statement about hearing people that predicted a sweep now are
- 14:47Speaker 1: calling for another sweep. Do you think this thing is
- 14:51Speaker 1: over in sixth or do you think this thing is
- 14:54Speaker 1: going to go seven?
- 14:55Speaker 2: You got you know, I think it goes seven, just
- 14:59Speaker 2: because again unless Les Celtics have officially turned the switch
- 15:02Speaker 2: on now, like you dude, you were lucky to lose
- 15:06Speaker 2: two to Orlando and you lost the first two here, Like,
- 15:10Speaker 2: who's for me to say that they went for row.
- 15:12Speaker 2: I do think that the better coach Neeks went out,
- 15:14Speaker 2: and well I do think Boston's better team. If it's
- 15:18Speaker 2: a close game, I trust brunts over any guy in Boston.
- 15:21Speaker 2: So I think I haven't.
- 15:22Speaker 1: Had a close game throughout. We talked about this before
- 15:25Speaker 1: we hit record. There hasn't been a competitive game the
- 15:28Speaker 1: whole time, Like the whole game. You know, maybe the
- 15:32Speaker 1: biggest lead is twelve or eight, but it didn't last long,
- 15:36Speaker 1: and there's a lot of you know, ties and lead changes,
- 15:39Speaker 1: and like you said, if they get down to the
- 15:40Speaker 1: nitty gritty, I don't see how they don't and niny
- 15:44Speaker 1: of that. But the Knicks don't win the game, or
- 15:46Speaker 1: at least one of them and nine of that. But
- 15:48Speaker 1: they're due for a freaking crazy offensive effort too. I mean,
- 15:52Speaker 1: couldn't they put up twenty something one night? I think
- 15:56Speaker 1: they could. So I'm not gonna say I be completely
- 16:01Speaker 1: shocked because that two oh thing obviously kind of shook them.
- 16:08Speaker 1: But then again, you know last year and this year
- 16:12Speaker 1: they have dropped random games or not played as good.
- 16:15Speaker 1: Well not necessarily this year, but well yeah, the first two,
- 16:18Speaker 1: but like they kind of do this. They kind of
- 16:21Speaker 1: do this. So I think it'll go game seven.
- 16:24Speaker 2: Now.
- 16:24Speaker 1: Do you still think Boston's gonna win though? Because we
- 16:27Speaker 1: both predicted, are you now? I gotta admit I'm a
- 16:31Speaker 1: little bit more in between now because if they go ahead,
- 16:33Speaker 1: and if the Knicks win tonight, you know, then I
- 16:37Speaker 1: think it's up in the air.
- 16:40Speaker 2: I do think that. As much as I do not
- 16:45Speaker 2: want them to win the series, I do think they do,
- 16:48Speaker 2: but uh, I do think it does go seven. I
- 16:51Speaker 2: will take Celtics and seven, but if the Knicks win
- 16:54Speaker 2: the series, I'll be very happy man. Next week, So
- 16:58Speaker 2: my fandom says, you're on the ount like Boston. But
- 17:01Speaker 2: if I had have thrown one hundred dollars down, I
- 17:03Speaker 2: would still break the Celtics to win the series. But
- 17:06Speaker 2: it's not definitely the cakewalk people expected it to be.
- 17:11Speaker 1: Right now, you don't like Boston, you don't like Tatum,
- 17:14Speaker 1: who's a duke player.
- 17:16Speaker 2: I don't like the Celtics.
- 17:17Speaker 1: Okay, I just double check checking there. So even if
- 17:22Speaker 1: a North let's say, in ten years they draft a
- 17:25Speaker 1: North Carolina guy and he's the lead of the franchise,
- 17:29Speaker 1: you're gonna still not like Boston at that.
- 17:34Speaker 2: That put me at Yeah, I'll jump across that bridge, right,
- 17:36Speaker 2: I need to.
- 17:39Speaker 1: All right, speaking of jumping across the bridge, I don't
- 17:42Speaker 1: really know how that that. I'm just gonna say that,
- 17:45Speaker 1: but that doesn't make any sense. Indiana right like and
- 17:51Speaker 1: really I meant like jump ship. You know, we have
- 17:56Speaker 1: been high on Indiana in general. They did improve defensively,
- 18:02Speaker 1: they brought pretty much the whole team back. They're fun
- 18:06Speaker 1: to watch. Halli Burton once in a while needs like
- 18:09Speaker 1: a kick in the ass to just be like, hey, dude,
- 18:11Speaker 1: take over the game. But other than that, like they're
- 18:15Speaker 1: fun to watch. They play hard. You can't count them out,
- 18:20Speaker 1: but they got up to zero. And I get it,
- 18:25Speaker 1: like in game three they had a bunch of people out.
- 18:27Speaker 1: I mean game one, two game Mitchell went out kind
- 18:30Speaker 1: of in and out and out, and now he went
- 18:32Speaker 1: back out again in this last game. It's weird because
- 18:36Speaker 1: they're game three. They got everybody back, and then they
- 18:38Speaker 1: look damn good, and then the next game they look
- 18:42Speaker 1: like shit. And then Mitchell got hurt in that game.
- 18:44Speaker 1: And sure those guys aren't probably one healthy. They probably
- 18:47Speaker 1: would have waited a couple more games during the regular season,
- 18:50Speaker 1: but you do have a variety of guys that are playing,
- 18:55Speaker 1: and you've had such a great, you know, regular season,
- 18:59Speaker 1: and from time to time we have seen, you know,
- 19:02Speaker 1: these regular season teams that just look phenomenal and they
- 19:05Speaker 1: just get shut out or whatever. But that shot that
- 19:09Speaker 1: Halibert hit when he you know, when he pulled out,
- 19:14Speaker 1: no time out, nothing, just hit the shot, like and
- 19:17Speaker 1: he did the Sam Cassel big Balls dance on the
- 19:20Speaker 1: way back. That was ridiculous. Which just these end of
- 19:24Speaker 1: game moments obviously Denver's provided multiple times, but they've been
- 19:30Speaker 1: just phenomenal. Man. But I thought, all right, let's see
- 19:34Speaker 1: game four now Calves got all their guys back, they
- 19:37Speaker 1: look really good, and then they just smashed them, dude,
- 19:41Speaker 1: I mean eighty to thirty nine, dude, like, and then
- 19:46Speaker 1: Mitchell leaves the damn game and he gets hurt of
- 19:48Speaker 1: get like, I just because we were high on Indiana
- 19:54Speaker 1: doesn't mean we saw that happen that It just like
- 20:00Speaker 1: I said, there are some injuries in there, sure, but
- 20:03Speaker 1: that was about as Porsche showing when you need to
- 20:08Speaker 1: tie this thing back up to not even be in
- 20:11Speaker 1: the game after a handful of minutes.
- 20:13Speaker 2: It's just ridiculous. Yeah, and I I mean that that's
- 20:19Speaker 2: one pick me definitely got right with the Pacers. And
- 20:24Speaker 2: you could say injuries sucks, but yeah, that's that's sounds.
- 20:27Speaker 2: That's part of the NBA Playoffs though, Like if if
- 20:31Speaker 2: Cleveland was fully healthy, they could be winning the series.
- 20:35Speaker 2: But also if Klay Thompson does harrisay a c I
- 20:37Speaker 2: knows every podcast, we probably would have the ring like
- 20:40Speaker 2: Stephen Curry out is a huge advantage for you Wolves
- 20:43Speaker 2: in the series, which we'll get to a little bit here.
- 20:44Speaker 2: You know, so injuries happen, man, Sometimes it's survival of
- 20:48Speaker 2: the fittest, and and that can really dictate how the
- 20:51Speaker 2: games play out. So for the situation, just like Indiana
- 20:54Speaker 2: last year had some decent luck to have injuries benefit them,
- 20:58Speaker 2: and they've done it again. But TB has credit. We
- 21:00Speaker 2: don't talk about their guys getting hurt, so obviously they're
- 21:03Speaker 2: lucky a little bit made that they for whatever reason,
- 21:05Speaker 2: maybe it's their rotation or players or but they've been
- 21:08Speaker 2: healthy and half the time it just is the tesla
- 21:13Speaker 2: being able to survive and they've been doing it. But
- 21:17Speaker 2: with that being said, aside from the injury talk, the
- 21:19Speaker 2: Pacers who played some good f and basketball. Yeah, dude,
- 21:22Speaker 2: they they love to run. Anyone can shoot threes. Miles Turner.
- 21:26Speaker 2: I just love watching that dude play. He's a big
- 21:29Speaker 2: than to shoot threes like Halliburton. You know, probably was
- 21:32Speaker 2: pretty pissed off we got that little slap on the
- 21:34Speaker 2: face of being the most so great guy in the league.
- 21:36Speaker 2: I mean that was like a pull from people who
- 21:38Speaker 2: wouldn't even put their name into it. You know, maybe
- 21:40Speaker 2: it was a couple of like bleep, you kind of
- 21:42Speaker 2: shots that the dude. But fine, well, you.
- 21:44Speaker 1: Never can trust the players anyway, because there's aye the biasness.
- 21:48Speaker 2: Well yes, but dude, you know, yeah, he has all
- 21:54Speaker 2: sorts of biasness, But honest, right now, if you're looking
- 21:57Speaker 2: at every team left him that like Jokic has had
- 22:00Speaker 2: some offse SGA has not been elite, like Tatum's had
- 22:04Speaker 2: some cult like hell.
- 22:05Speaker 1: Bert uh ants to until the second half. An's been
- 22:10Speaker 1: struggling there for for most of the series.
- 22:13Speaker 2: So you could argue that right now, Halliburton's maybe been
- 22:16Speaker 2: the best player in the playoffs this year overall so
- 22:18Speaker 2: far or it. I don't think you laughed out lapped
- 22:21Speaker 2: out the laughed out of the conversation for suggesting that.
- 22:24Speaker 2: So I they're they're fun to watch. They always run.
- 22:29Speaker 2: The one thing I've heard kind of consistently said and
- 22:32Speaker 2: seeing on the games is the fact that, dude, you
- 22:35Speaker 2: kind of have to be in really good shape to
- 22:36Speaker 2: play the Pacers because they do play in a quicker
- 22:40Speaker 2: temple than most teams. Like when you watch like the
- 22:44Speaker 2: Wolves and Warriors game, it is like kind of half
- 22:47Speaker 2: or run your offense. And even in Jokic versus Okay, see,
- 22:52Speaker 2: there's a lot of just hey, we're just gonna hey,
- 22:55Speaker 2: let's let's half four games Pacers, Like, dude, we're.
- 22:58Speaker 1: Gonna intend to be in the playoff general.
- 23:01Speaker 2: Yeah, Pacer, Like, dude, we're gonna run your ass off
- 23:03Speaker 2: the gym and we're cool with that. So that does
- 23:06Speaker 2: make a different side of you as you've you've as
- 23:09Speaker 2: been a boxing guy. You know, different fighters have different styles.
- 23:12Speaker 2: Now many teams really play the way the Pacers do
- 23:15Speaker 2: and after the temple and have all the guys gonna
- 23:17Speaker 2: shoot the ball that will effectively. And the thing I
- 23:19Speaker 2: like about them to wrap up in the Pacers why
- 23:21Speaker 2: they're up in the series. And I've just always found
- 23:24Speaker 2: them to be unselfish. Like there's so many times in
- 23:26Speaker 2: basketball where you feel like the certain player, it's it's
- 23:30Speaker 2: his ball, he's gonna take the shot, Like Haliburton is there, guy,
- 23:34Speaker 2: but you would never tell me that. Like watching them
- 23:36Speaker 2: play that, Like Halbert, it's just like his ball, no
- 23:40Speaker 2: one else, Like I think he's their leader. But now
- 23:43Speaker 2: like it, dude, I need to see the ball and
- 23:45Speaker 2: no one else gets it. Like they always they seem
- 23:47Speaker 2: to share the ball. Well it all sounds kind of silly,
- 23:50Speaker 2: but their offense is just always so fluid. I think
- 23:52Speaker 2: it's because they're not it's not an individual, it's just
- 23:55Speaker 2: a well organized team.
- 23:58Speaker 1: Yeah, it is deep and get a shout up pretty quick,
- 24:01Speaker 1: or at least get down there to where it's hard
- 24:03Speaker 1: to set up on defense a lot of the times,
- 24:06Speaker 1: and at least, you know, really set up and uh yeah,
- 24:10Speaker 1: I mean they got shooters all over the court and
- 24:13Speaker 1: they're just yeah, they're fun, dude, and they can drive
- 24:15Speaker 1: and it just yeah, they're really good. I mean, do
- 24:18Speaker 1: you see it. I mean, I don't know what's up
- 24:21Speaker 1: with Mitchell. I'm not sure he was you know, he
- 24:23Speaker 1: didn't come out. You only played twenty minutes, twenty something
- 24:26Speaker 1: minute I think it was twenty twenty one or something
- 24:28Speaker 1: like that. And then you know, will they even bring
- 24:31Speaker 1: them back? I mean, he probably will because it's an ankle,
- 24:35Speaker 1: but you can feel okay, But do you see the
- 24:40Speaker 1: thing about going okay, let's say it gets a six,
- 24:42Speaker 1: Yeah it's six, but then you're in Indiana, dude, like,
- 24:45Speaker 1: good fucking luck. So either way five or six, this
- 24:48Speaker 1: thing's done. I mean, that's i'd assume.
- 24:52Speaker 2: I do think that there is still that angle, like
- 24:55Speaker 2: that cold bloodedness, because I really I really thought in
- 24:59Speaker 2: round one they were gonna come out hot and destroy
- 25:03Speaker 2: the Bucks. I know they won that game. When they
- 25:05Speaker 2: were closed the game. But the Bucks were up like
- 25:07Speaker 2: twenty one to three in the first quarter of that
- 25:09Speaker 2: closed out game in Indiana did win.
- 25:11Speaker 1: And then the one we were on live recording.
- 25:15Speaker 2: No, I was a practice. Uh it would have been okay.
- 25:19Speaker 1: I remember you we were talking about the end of
- 25:21Speaker 1: the game scenario and you're like, hey, this just messed up.
- 25:25Speaker 1: This person messed up. Maybe that was a different game.
- 25:27Speaker 2: Yeah, well yeah, no, no it was. But I remember
- 25:29Speaker 2: when that game started. I bet the Pacers first half
- 25:33Speaker 2: because I was like, all the Plucks were oh. Because
- 25:35Speaker 2: I went.
- 25:35Speaker 1: Back and watched the end of that that ship was nuts. Dude.
- 25:39Speaker 2: Yeah, I can't believe how.
- 25:40Speaker 1: That two different times they had it and they gave
- 25:43Speaker 1: it up.
- 25:44Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, So for the start, I bet the Pacers
- 25:46Speaker 2: first half of first quarter. I bet first quarter and
- 25:49Speaker 2: they were down like eighteen to three, and I was like, like,
- 25:52Speaker 2: I thought, they're gonna kill him. And then they in
- 25:54Speaker 2: the Pacers game three, you know, like they they came
- 25:58Speaker 2: out a little sluggish. So I obviously teams have part too.
- 26:02Speaker 2: You know, the Pacers be up too. Oh you expect
- 26:03Speaker 2: the cast to fight back, and the Cavs were healthy,
- 26:05Speaker 2: but so I don't think it if they have that
- 26:07Speaker 2: complete kill DNA. But I really do think, especially if
- 26:10Speaker 2: Mitchell's banged up like it's the like I told you,
- 26:14Speaker 2: I think Cavaliers are making tea times like you know,
- 26:17Speaker 2: a had good run, had good year, injuries hitting, she's
- 26:19Speaker 2: the wrong time and after eighty to thirty other performance. Yeah,
- 26:22Speaker 2: I just I think Pacers. I think Pacers went in five,
- 26:27Speaker 2: but I don't see it going if they If the
- 26:29Speaker 2: Cavaliers somehow tie one together, they're not gonna go back
- 26:33Speaker 2: to Indiana because that places to be a madhouse. So
- 26:36Speaker 2: I'll say Pacers in five or six. If it went seven,
- 26:38Speaker 2: I'd be floored.
- 26:40Speaker 1: Yeah, I agree, because that third when they got all
- 26:42Speaker 1: their players back in the third game, it looked pretty
- 26:46Speaker 1: damn good. It's like, callis, yeah, they're spposed to fucking
- 26:49Speaker 1: series now, you know.
- 26:50Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 26:51Speaker 1: But then, like I said, they started with their players
- 26:54Speaker 1: in the game. That's what I do. Right that first
- 26:57Speaker 1: quarter they had their starter right, and they got their
- 27:01Speaker 1: ass whop dude, and that yeah, I mean in Indiana,
- 27:05Speaker 1: the home of basketball that they're I mean, good luck,
- 27:09Speaker 1: That's all I'm gonna say. Good luck. And by the way,
- 27:11Speaker 1: I do have Boston win that series in seven too,
- 27:14Speaker 1: I don't think I actually okay, okay, so yeah, so
- 27:19Speaker 1: I think Indiana will do it. I wouldn't be shocked
- 27:21Speaker 1: if they did the next round, especially if Mitchell doesn't play. Yes,
- 27:27Speaker 1: But but overall, it ain't going past six, and you know,
- 27:32Speaker 1: we'll see how that other one goes. You know, because Boston,
- 27:36Speaker 1: New York, big markets, they've spread it out, you know,
- 27:40Speaker 1: so we talked about this before. If Golden State and
- 27:44Speaker 1: Minnesota we're going to go game seven, it would be
- 27:48Speaker 1: next Tuesday, the game seven, Well, that Game seven all
- 27:53Speaker 1: by itself right then Monday, that Monday, So next Monday,
- 27:57Speaker 1: that would be Game seven in that series. Boston, New
- 28:02Speaker 1: York oh oh yeah, oh yeah yeah, because they spread
- 28:04Speaker 1: it out to get the most eyeballs on it. So
- 28:10Speaker 1: that could really really help Indy in general, especially if
- 28:13Speaker 1: they close it out in five. But yeah, it's uh,
- 28:17Speaker 1: you know, no matter how you get back to two
- 28:19Speaker 1: conference finals, it just it bodes well for the future.
- 28:25Speaker 2: Yeah. You know, if you asked a regular join BA
- 28:30Speaker 2: fan out of the past ten years, who's had the
- 28:32Speaker 2: best franchise success Between the Clippers, Sixers, and Pacers, most
- 28:38Speaker 2: regular NBA guys are gonna say, well, I would Pacers
- 28:42Speaker 2: probably be the bottom third. But like of those three teams,
- 28:44Speaker 2: who gets all the hype, Like, dude, I don't even
- 28:47Speaker 2: think it. Like the way the teams are trending. If
- 28:49Speaker 2: you had to, if you had to put stock in
- 28:51Speaker 2: a team, I would, I would put Stock in the
- 28:53Speaker 2: Pacers probably touched the Sixers and the Clippers, even though
- 28:57Speaker 2: from a media standpoint and from an elite payer standpoint,
- 29:00Speaker 2: how much you pay your guys, that's not supposed to
- 29:02Speaker 2: be the answer. So, like you said, they're doing something right.
- 29:05Speaker 1: Yeah, and the Clippers only made one conference final. Yeah,
- 29:09Speaker 1: so if they get two, they already double them up.
- 29:11Speaker 1: So and then we don't want to go back in
- 29:14Speaker 1: Clippers history either when it comes to conference finals, because
- 29:17Speaker 1: it becomes a lot more like the tim Wolves background Denver. Okay,
- 29:24Speaker 1: see now, the first game, Jokis just went ape shit.
- 29:32Speaker 1: I mean this, dude, it was a ridiculous game. He
- 29:36Speaker 1: had forty two points, twenty two rebounds. They really they
- 29:44Speaker 1: closed really strong in the second half, and I have
- 29:49Speaker 1: noticed even with that, they still got twenty two out
- 29:52Speaker 1: of Gordon, They still got twenty one out of Murray
- 29:56Speaker 1: they still got Westbrook had eighteen off the bench, you
- 29:59Speaker 1: know what I mean, So that he is getting even
- 30:02Speaker 1: in we're gonna talk about some of these games he struggled.
- 30:04Speaker 1: They have been getting still a variety of people stepping up,
- 30:08Speaker 1: especially Gordon, and then you know, so you're like, okay,
- 30:13Speaker 1: well that's huge they you know, round or game one
- 30:16Speaker 1: in a series. Dude, that's that's much needed if you're
- 30:19Speaker 1: gonna win the series, especially to the one seed and
- 30:22Speaker 1: all that, and the way Oklahoma City came in. We know,
- 30:25Speaker 1: you know, point differentials off the chart. We know they
- 30:28Speaker 1: played defense like a mother effort. But we did talk
- 30:31Speaker 1: about Okay, we know Sga, we know him. Now can
- 30:36Speaker 1: the other folks continue to help him out? I just
- 30:40Speaker 1: got done talking about some other guys that have stepped
- 30:43Speaker 1: up for Denver along with the MVP candidate. I suppose
- 30:47Speaker 1: this year because they haven't announced it yet. But now, okay,
- 30:52Speaker 1: see the problem was last year he didn't. You know,
- 30:55Speaker 1: you have to have a variety of people to win
- 30:57Speaker 1: all these games, you know, to get to go far,
- 31:00Speaker 1: and that wasn't the case. And we're we're starting to
- 31:03Speaker 1: get you know, it's starting to look that way a
- 31:05Speaker 1: little bit. One of the Williams went like six or twenty.
- 31:10Speaker 1: Chet had one good game, the rest not so much.
- 31:15Speaker 1: And they're putting dude, they're putting like small dudes on Chet,
- 31:20Speaker 1: Like you gotta take advantage of that, you know it
- 31:25Speaker 1: just like when they put a small guy on Rudy.
- 31:26Speaker 1: I mean, I don't think they never put Murray on Rudy,
- 31:28Speaker 1: but like they got to take advantage of that. But
- 31:31Speaker 1: so it's one zip, right, the thunder come back and
- 31:37Speaker 1: just destroy it one o six and I'm like, all right,
- 31:42Speaker 1: they got their groove back. You know, they really kicked
- 31:45Speaker 1: their ass one hundred and forty nine points. And then
- 31:48Speaker 1: the Nuggets and Gordon and every you know, I mean
- 31:52Speaker 1: ot win like and they had a chang. I think
- 31:56Speaker 1: they were up by like what three or four pretty
- 32:00Speaker 1: deep in that overtime. They just they couldn't do it,
- 32:04Speaker 1: couldn't finish it off, and Denver just ran them off
- 32:07Speaker 1: the court after. I mean, shit, you're looking it's a
- 32:09Speaker 1: nine point game in overtime. That tells you they dominated
- 32:12Speaker 1: the damn overtime once again. Though you look at home
- 32:16Speaker 1: Grid he got eighteen, he did get eighteen points, but
- 32:20Speaker 1: it took him nineteen to get there. He was one
- 32:22Speaker 1: of six from three Williams bounced back. That was one
- 32:27Speaker 1: of SGA's worst game at the playoffs, I'd have to say.
- 32:31Speaker 1: And they didn't get a whole lot off their bench,
- 32:33Speaker 1: whereas Gordon twenty three, Porter twenty one, Jokic twenty, Murray
- 32:38Speaker 1: twenty seven, Westbrook not so much off the bench at
- 32:43Speaker 1: all in that game. I mean, he had eight points,
- 32:45Speaker 1: but not really. But you know, Denver's defense, we talked
- 32:50Speaker 1: about how it has improved in the playoffs. He's getting
- 32:56Speaker 1: We know, Jokic's like, hey man, he's gonna do his thing.
- 32:59Speaker 1: We need you know, he needs help. You could make
- 33:03Speaker 1: an argument in this last game that both of them
- 33:05Speaker 1: had a chance to win this last game. Obviously Okac
- 33:09Speaker 1: you know, ended up winning ninety two to eighty seven.
- 33:12Speaker 1: But here we are two to two and they're keeping
- 33:17Speaker 1: they're doing a great job on Jokic be on the
- 33:19Speaker 1: first game obviously, like really great job, and they're keeping
- 33:25Speaker 1: out of the post as much. But even when he
- 33:27Speaker 1: is hitting those mid rangers, you know in the the
- 33:32Speaker 1: Wolves keep them out of the post to an extent,
- 33:34Speaker 1: and then he always hits those rainbow threes. Anyway, and
- 33:38Speaker 1: he shot like forty percent or something, some kind of
- 33:40Speaker 1: crazy percentage this year from three, so they're doing a
- 33:47Speaker 1: great job on them. But these last three games, man
- 33:50Speaker 1: Jokic hasn't really looked himself looked, you know, And I
- 33:54Speaker 1: don't think it'll continue. I think he'll I think he'll
- 33:56Speaker 1: get it together, but these last three games hasn't been
- 34:00Speaker 1: right for him. But he's said other people step up,
- 34:03Speaker 1: so here we are too too.
- 34:07Speaker 2: So this one really has me kind of lost brother,
- 34:10Speaker 2: because I really don't think that Jokic just played that
- 34:16Speaker 2: well and that Shay Gilders has been up to his
- 34:20Speaker 2: highest level either. Get these games were close, but it's
- 34:25Speaker 2: it's kind of like maybe we're having to see a
- 34:26Speaker 2: little more. And obviously these guys are gonna be the
- 34:28Speaker 2: MVP one or the other, right, but neither having like
- 34:32Speaker 2: dominant series. But the fact that overall, the fact this
- 34:36Speaker 2: is two to two and Jokic has really only had
- 34:38Speaker 2: one Jokic s game is kind of crazy to me,
- 34:42Speaker 2: Like I know that one game and like I think
- 34:45Speaker 2: last you know, his last game he had like twenty
- 34:47Speaker 2: two points and thirteen boards, but if you look at
- 34:49Speaker 2: how much he shot, it's.
- 34:50Speaker 1: Like, yeah, he's seven to twenty two.
- 34:53Speaker 2: Yeah, and he was all of ten on threes, which
- 34:56Speaker 2: is like, oh, it makes you ten threes.
- 34:59Speaker 1: It's weird for him him, you know, unless he's going off.
- 35:02Speaker 2: Yeah. And when I watched in game three, like he
- 35:06Speaker 2: had lots like sloppy passes and turnovers, which surely doesn't
- 35:09Speaker 2: do so either. Two things like maybe you know and
- 35:14Speaker 2: I know that hockey's different because they know they never
- 35:16Speaker 2: wanted to sclose injuries because people poke on you and
- 35:18Speaker 2: they f you up if you know their injury. Maybe
- 35:21Speaker 2: Jokic has hurt a little bit, kind of like Hockbayer
- 35:24Speaker 2: just doesn't want to say it, or he's just a
- 35:27Speaker 2: little fatigued and tired. But besides that, I think we
- 35:30Speaker 2: have held him to such a high standard now they're like, dude,
- 35:33Speaker 2: if he ain't tired or hurt, like something's wrong with that?
- 35:36Speaker 2: Like what it? I believe it was the first time
- 35:39Speaker 2: since twenty eighteen that he shot like under forty percent
- 35:44Speaker 2: three games in a row. It's like some mind bless
- 35:46Speaker 2: have like, dude, you are so good that for you
- 35:49Speaker 2: to have like three offense in a row, that shit's
- 35:51Speaker 2: not happened since before COVID.
- 35:54Speaker 1: So yeah, as.
- 35:56Speaker 2: For speaking for the long Jevy the series, man, I
- 35:59Speaker 2: really any weight lost.
- 36:00Speaker 1: Ever since he lost that weight he's been he's raised
- 36:05Speaker 1: his game like crazy.
- 36:06Speaker 2: Yeah. I really do think the fact that it's two
- 36:08Speaker 2: to two and he's not had his Elite series yet
- 36:11Speaker 2: is good for Denver. But again, I got a factor in. Again,
- 36:16Speaker 2: if Boss win say it's going back home, that whole
- 36:18Speaker 2: court still does matter, right and obviously the the okay,
- 36:21Speaker 2: he hasn't I I was gonna tell you I met
- 36:23Speaker 2: the Textee. But my buddy, so, my good family friend
- 36:27Speaker 2: that always takes me on our March Madness trips they
- 36:29Speaker 2: got from Oklahoma. He actually invited me up to game two,
- 36:31Speaker 2: so I was actually at the Okay, okay, see game
- 36:34Speaker 2: two series of the of the series. Okay, great environment,
- 36:38Speaker 2: nice fans, no drama. The other thing was that we
- 36:41Speaker 2: left in the fourth quarter like two minutes in the
- 36:43Speaker 2: game because like dude, they were up forty five. Yeah. Yeah,
- 36:47Speaker 2: so it showed you that on a given night when
- 36:49Speaker 2: they Yeah, I actually had some of the most points
- 36:54Speaker 2: ever scored in the first half in the NBA playoff games,
- 36:56Speaker 2: so I got to win his history. But that really
- 36:59Speaker 2: was Chris that was one game shot out because all
- 37:01Speaker 2: the other three games have not been like that, like
- 37:04Speaker 2: they've been competitive, you know. Yeah, yeah, so in around
- 37:08Speaker 2: about way, I'm right, not quite sure think about this,
- 37:10Speaker 2: Like the fact that we're two to two and the
- 37:13Speaker 2: Okach hasn't been at his best yet just makes some
- 37:15Speaker 2: shame my head of you, like how good is okay? See?
- 37:17Speaker 2: Like why is this not three to one? If you
- 37:20Speaker 2: Okich has been his best out, so then it makes
- 37:22Speaker 2: you wonder, is okay see like we typed by last show,
- 37:26Speaker 2: are they still a little bit too young and young
- 37:28Speaker 2: in a way that besides like Shay Gil just like
- 37:31Speaker 2: who else that team is old? You know, like that
- 37:34Speaker 2: was one thing my friend who took me with He's like, dude,
- 37:36Speaker 2: I love the fact that they're a young team. They
- 37:38Speaker 2: seem to have fun. There's a team camaraderie that okay
- 37:41Speaker 2: see yeah the new two.
- 37:45Speaker 1: Dudes, that's the only guys that are old.
- 37:48Speaker 2: So you know, I just man, I think we're in
- 37:51Speaker 2: for some some more close games. I do think that
- 37:53Speaker 2: Okay see wins in seven, but I I do think
- 37:57Speaker 2: that maybe we have to, Like, yes, the record was amazing,
- 37:59Speaker 2: the right their season. But even though they obviously have
- 38:04Speaker 2: the better coaching situation for this game, like Deadver has
- 38:07Speaker 2: been there a lot and know, yeah, the jokis Ray
- 38:14Speaker 2: Aaron Gordon Core maybe is not as stat wise sexy
- 38:18Speaker 2: and beautiful.
- 38:19Speaker 1: As like you there before you throw porter or okay,
- 38:23Speaker 1: yeah Gordon over porter and a heartbeat.
- 38:26Speaker 2: Well I did say I just I met say Gordon
- 38:29Speaker 2: my bad. So but they've they've been through it, so yeah,
- 38:37Speaker 2: it I think it does. I think that's what surprised
- 38:39Speaker 2: people because if you watch game two, you're like, oh, dude,
- 38:42Speaker 2: these are two different hemispheres, but not like you know,
- 38:46Speaker 2: so I'm with I think it goes seven. But I
- 38:49Speaker 2: just think that okay, se has maybe been not as
- 38:53Speaker 2: explosive as people thought.
- 38:56Speaker 1: Yeah, so Game two, this is Yokic six sixteen seventeen points.
- 39:02Speaker 1: Game three eight of twenty five. Yeah that's yeah, twenty
- 39:07Speaker 1: points and then he got twenty seven. But like you said,
- 39:09Speaker 1: seven to twenty two, missed a bunch of a bunch
- 39:12Speaker 1: of threes. And also like like in that game, I
- 39:17Speaker 1: think he was eleven or fourteen or ten of thirteen
- 39:20Speaker 1: from the line, so he's he's getting the line right. Yeah,
- 39:24Speaker 1: but when it counts. Even in the last series when
- 39:27Speaker 1: it counts, he's actually missed these free throws late, which
- 39:30Speaker 1: he never did. He actually would usually miss him earlier
- 39:33Speaker 1: in the game, but then when it came to, you know,
- 39:36Speaker 1: clutch time, he would always always hit him. He's so
- 39:41Speaker 1: in through these last three games, he's shooting thirty third
- 39:44Speaker 1: percent from the field, eighteen percent from three. He has
- 39:48Speaker 1: more turnovers per game than assist. That tells you something
- 39:53Speaker 1: on average, So that's pretty crazy. I did not see
- 39:57Speaker 1: that coming in. I do think it goes seven, but
- 40:03Speaker 1: it shows you. Like now, when you look at sta
- 40:06Speaker 1: efficiency hasn't necessarily been there in every game, but he
- 40:09Speaker 1: is still putting up numbers. Both of them are lower
- 40:13Speaker 1: than their their point total by a decent amount, So
- 40:17Speaker 1: both of them haven't been It's funny we got the
- 40:19Speaker 1: two you know MVPs, and neither of them necessarily played
- 40:23Speaker 1: at that level. Yeah, he's trying to be like, hey, dude,
- 40:27Speaker 1: I played good in the playoffs. Can I get a
- 40:28Speaker 1: m VP? I know I'm out, but can I get that?
- 40:32Speaker 1: But the point is it does go back to who
- 40:36Speaker 1: are the consistent, you know, guys that are gonna be
- 40:40Speaker 1: with them? And so far that he hasn't had that.
- 40:44Speaker 1: And you look, you flip it. Murray's been playing good.
- 40:47Speaker 1: Gordon's been playing off his mind. Like every game they'll
- 40:50Speaker 1: get eighteen out from Westbrook out of nowhere, Like every
- 40:53Speaker 1: game they have more contributors and that's why they're there.
- 40:58Speaker 1: And I just don't see Yoka having you know, two
- 41:04Speaker 1: out of the three next games are gonna be like
- 41:06Speaker 1: they've been. I don't see that. I would say maybe
- 41:09Speaker 1: one more and we got a credit. Okay, See they're
- 41:11Speaker 1: a great defensive team. They have to the post and
- 41:15Speaker 1: you know, yeah, in that tall ass Williams, he's doing
- 41:19Speaker 1: a good job. People are you know, they're doing a
- 41:21Speaker 1: good job. We can't just say, oh, Yoki just struggle
- 41:23Speaker 1: and that's it, or we can't just say he's heard
- 41:27Speaker 1: or whatever, because honestly, it have to be a pretty
- 41:31Speaker 1: major injury because he's not built on speed or cuts
- 41:34Speaker 1: or you know what I mean. He's built on putting
- 41:36Speaker 1: you on a hip and freaking dribbling you down, and
- 41:39Speaker 1: you know, and bullying you really and and the thing
- 41:42Speaker 1: about him is when you do keep him out of
- 41:44Speaker 1: the post man, because like I said, the timbrels usually
- 41:47Speaker 1: has been the best against them, and you'll still have
- 41:50Speaker 1: a couple of games where he just lights us up.
- 41:52Speaker 1: But he usually will hit those damn threes and you're
- 41:54Speaker 1: just like, God, damn it, dude, you did everything you could.
- 41:57Speaker 1: Then he hits his rainbow three and it just pisses
- 41:59Speaker 1: you off off, you know. So yeah, I I'm stuck
- 42:05Speaker 1: on this one. I'm not ready to give up on
- 42:07Speaker 1: the Nuggets just yet. I know okay See does have
- 42:12Speaker 1: a crazy home court, You're right, but going to Denver,
- 42:17Speaker 1: you know the altitude that does play into it too.
- 42:23Speaker 1: No matter what. As a Timbrolds fan, I wanted to
- 42:26Speaker 1: go Game seven, you know, where these motherfuckers auret as
- 42:29Speaker 1: much as possible. So I don't know, man, I gotta
- 42:33Speaker 1: admit I'm kind of stuck. Like I thought okay See
- 42:36Speaker 1: would do it, But now that we're here, I mean,
- 42:39Speaker 1: I've already made my prediction obviously, so I can't. But
- 42:43Speaker 1: I actually think Dever is gonna win now. Actually, all right, obviously,
- 42:49Speaker 1: you know we're not really doing predictions per se, because
- 42:52Speaker 1: we already did them. But in four games, and I
- 42:55Speaker 1: know that Jokis can play better, it doesn't bode well
- 43:00Speaker 1: in my opinion. All right, last, but certainly not least.
- 43:04Speaker 1: We have a series that's kind of like mid nineties
- 43:09Speaker 1: ish type scores. Except for one on one game, it's
- 43:14Speaker 1: been a grinded out game in most of them. The
- 43:20Speaker 1: defense has been very impressive on both sides. I'd say,
- 43:25Speaker 1: especially Golden State, they are messing with Ant pretty well.
- 43:32Speaker 1: They're doing a damn good job on them. And if
- 43:37Speaker 1: you look at Dante and Alexander Walker, they're struggling pretty mightily.
- 43:44Speaker 1: You know, Will the Wolves offense improve enough to get
- 43:49Speaker 1: over the hump? Even though the thing about them is
- 43:55Speaker 1: I actually think this last game, had Curry returned with that,
- 43:58Speaker 1: we would have played better too, because we play at levels.
- 44:01Speaker 1: It's something that we've done for this whole fucking year.
- 44:04Speaker 1: So even when they had Curry, we came out game one,
- 44:07Speaker 1: Oh you're the favorite, Okay, cool, you know, let your
- 44:10Speaker 1: guard down, and next thing you know, you're down by twelve,
- 44:13Speaker 1: You know what I mean.
- 44:14Speaker 2: Yeah, So.
- 44:17Speaker 1: It's been a little weird, you know. They they the
- 44:21Speaker 1: game two. They did perform much better offensively because they
- 44:26Speaker 1: caed Game one. They carried that game five over and
- 44:29Speaker 1: like I said, they had a record. They had the
- 44:31Speaker 1: record of miss threes in back to back games until
- 44:35Speaker 1: luckily Boston came by and beat our record. But I
- 44:40Speaker 1: appreciate that, you know, but it's like, once again, most
- 44:46Speaker 1: of them are wide the f open, so it's a weird.
- 44:49Speaker 1: It's a strange thing to not take open shots. But
- 44:55Speaker 1: I think that losing Curry obviously hurts them in this series.
- 45:00Speaker 1: In just in general, the only thing you could say
- 45:04Speaker 1: that they're still going to be good at is defense,
- 45:06Speaker 1: and you know, with Peyton and other guys, you could
- 45:09Speaker 1: say maybe they're half a notch up even better on defense.
- 45:14Speaker 1: But it ultimately, he just he just moves to the court,
- 45:18Speaker 1: the players around so much, and you got to worry
- 45:22Speaker 1: about him so much that you know, it really threw
- 45:26Speaker 1: me off that he's never had a hamstring injury and
- 45:30Speaker 1: they're saying they're gonna reevaluate it on Wednesday, which tells
- 45:34Speaker 1: he's not playing Wednesday, and then in three days would
- 45:37Speaker 1: it be better. I don't know. But Game four is
- 45:41Speaker 1: huge in this one. Ant finally did get it going
- 45:45Speaker 1: in the second half. A couple of minutes in the
- 45:47Speaker 1: second half in the third quarter, he did get it going,
- 45:50Speaker 1: ended up with like thirty six I think he had
- 45:51Speaker 1: the most out of anybody this year of twenty eight
- 45:55Speaker 1: in the second half this year in the playoffs. But
- 45:58Speaker 1: it's also okay, so what about the other you need
- 46:01Speaker 1: You need to not have such a weird first half either.
- 46:04Speaker 1: But Randal, I mean his defense, in his passing, he
- 46:09Speaker 1: has twenty three assists in the last two games, he
- 46:13Speaker 1: had a triple double. It's the first triple double we've
- 46:15Speaker 1: had since you know who. So he's been he's been
- 46:21Speaker 1: playing freaking great man and he really although Ant started
- 46:24Speaker 1: going off, no doubt, but he set up a lot
- 46:27Speaker 1: of those better shooting threes. And I noticed Golden State
- 46:32Speaker 1: really closes out strong on so many shots. So even
- 46:35Speaker 1: if you call him open, it's still someone coming. They're
- 46:39Speaker 1: really good on defense, dude. So they got a great
- 46:42Speaker 1: plan that messed us up for about two and a
- 46:45Speaker 1: half games. But it was Randal loosening it up and
- 46:50Speaker 1: kicking out, dishing out, and also getting to the rock. Finally,
- 46:55Speaker 1: but what are your thoughts on this one? Obviously without Curry,
- 46:58Speaker 1: it's gonna be tough. But if they win game four,
- 47:02Speaker 1: they are at home. If they win game four, who
- 47:04Speaker 1: the f knows what could happen? Because like I said
- 47:08Speaker 1: the Timbers love to play to levels.
- 47:12Speaker 2: Yeah, I I don't know, man, I really do feel that. Again,
- 47:18Speaker 2: if we're just talking like skill set, I believe the
- 47:20Speaker 2: Warriors are uh definitely the lower class team obviously, Butler
- 47:27Speaker 2: is still a good offensive player. For sure. It's probably
- 47:30Speaker 2: Stilvill banged up, but after that, it's had a great
- 47:34Speaker 2: game game he did, he did, and kaminga who's been
- 47:38Speaker 2: encouraged doghouse for the whole season. I know. So I
- 47:44Speaker 2: think he was.
- 47:44Speaker 1: What twelve or fifteen the other game, two or eleven
- 47:47Speaker 1: or four? I mean he was. I'm like, someone put
- 47:49Speaker 1: a damn body in that bastard.
- 47:51Speaker 2: He's probably trying to earn himself a trade ticket. I don't.
- 47:54Speaker 2: I don't know that that's such weird relationship where they
- 47:56Speaker 2: have that situation. But the Wolves overall have like the
- 48:01Speaker 2: better the better players, right, you got and you got
- 48:03Speaker 2: you know, Nasri is one of the best guys off
- 48:06Speaker 2: the bench in the league. Obviously, Julius Randalls when played
- 48:08Speaker 2: out of his mind. Uh So, I do think the
- 48:11Speaker 2: Wolves have the better squad, but defensively, like I think
- 48:15Speaker 2: we kind of do forget, like how good this Golden
- 48:17Speaker 2: State team is because they were the best NBA defensive
- 48:20Speaker 2: team in the in this in the league this year
- 48:22Speaker 2: when Butler came over. So they're making the Wolves work
- 48:26Speaker 2: for it. And at times when the Wolves do struggle
- 48:32Speaker 2: and it's just my observation, but sometimes they don't when
- 48:35Speaker 2: they pass the ball. While they always the open shots,
- 48:37Speaker 2: sometimes when they get in their funks, it's just like
- 48:39Speaker 2: one or two passes and jack of three or or
- 48:44Speaker 2: just or a straight up three. And when you do
- 48:45Speaker 2: that versus good defense team, especially those streets don't drop,
- 48:48Speaker 2: then all of a sudden, you can give up a
- 48:49Speaker 2: run and Golden State team and that's was kind of
- 48:53Speaker 2: It's like there's just been so many different waves in
- 48:55Speaker 2: this series of like, hey, like Wolves offense clicking, hit
- 48:58Speaker 2: a couple of threes, they're up eight. All well, they
- 49:00Speaker 2: missed couple of quick shooters. Also Golden State answers, you know.
- 49:03Speaker 1: So in Game three, when they got up by seven
- 49:07Speaker 1: early in that fourth, I was not I was like,
- 49:10Speaker 1: here we go, We're gonna lose this fucking game. Dude.
- 49:12Speaker 1: I really wasn't feeling confident at that time. Yeah, and
- 49:16Speaker 1: then there were four minutes later, like you said.
- 49:18Speaker 2: There's a couple of like really nice just passes by
- 49:21Speaker 2: like uh Jada McDaniels and Randall of just like making
- 49:25Speaker 2: smart basketball plays. Ye choose and then if you mix
- 49:28Speaker 2: the occasional aunt, just go to the rack because no
- 49:31Speaker 2: one else can guard you. Layups those are good.
- 49:33Speaker 1: But he cut. I think he had three or four cuts.
- 49:36Speaker 1: It's like, hey, what do you know you can do
- 49:38Speaker 1: that too?
- 49:39Speaker 2: You know, it's that variety of just okay. When you
- 49:42Speaker 2: when the Wolves passed the ball around, their offense is great,
- 49:45Speaker 2: but it's one of those those one passer, no pass shots.
- 49:49Speaker 2: It's like, you know, you gotta make you got you
- 49:52Speaker 2: gotta make gold Golden State defense move a little bit.
- 49:54Speaker 2: And so I I do think you're you guys would say,
- 49:58Speaker 2: and I do think they win at home. I think
- 50:00Speaker 2: this only goes five. And I don't think they risk
- 50:02Speaker 2: Curry coming back. You want to risk his injury, like
- 50:04Speaker 2: you said, maybe have this like a severe hamstring pull
- 50:06Speaker 2: or tear.
- 50:07Speaker 1: Something you can totally mess up your summer. You know, yes,
- 50:10Speaker 1: Like I think they got something going. You can do
- 50:13Speaker 1: something in the off season. Return with a full you know,
- 50:18Speaker 1: like with a full runway and have a pretty They
- 50:21Speaker 1: could be a top four seed next year. I really
- 50:23Speaker 1: believe that.
- 50:24Speaker 2: Yeah, well the other and the other part that is
- 50:26Speaker 2: big for the Golden State Offs. He's just and I
- 50:29Speaker 2: love the guy, but dude, drama, just quit doing dumb shit.
- 50:33Speaker 2: Like I know that he's I said in years past,
- 50:35Speaker 2: I defended him, but I do feel as a getting older
- 50:38Speaker 2: now just doesn't coun't maybe care as much. But like
- 50:41Speaker 2: he's done a lot of stupid fouls, Like you know,
- 50:43Speaker 2: he used to be able to sneaking out like dude,
- 50:46Speaker 2: you're you're splat arms right, hind dudes in the head,
- 50:48Speaker 2: hind duds in the face, kicking people like you deserve
- 50:51Speaker 2: your texts. If he does get suspended for a game,
- 50:54Speaker 2: they're fucked because in that last game, he thought out,
- 50:58Speaker 2: when he's off the court, he is their defensive quarterback.
- 51:02Speaker 2: He's on the huge advantage for your wolves. When he
- 51:05Speaker 2: found out in Game three, there's five minutes something in
- 51:07Speaker 2: the game, they were down two and the Wolves ginta
- 51:09Speaker 2: had a little more offensive fluidity with him gone, so
- 51:13Speaker 2: and two.
- 51:13Speaker 1: Out of those three fauls are just silly. It was
- 51:16Speaker 1: just like, what are you doing, dude? You push McDaniels,
- 51:19Speaker 1: just let him dunk and he held Randall and he's complained.
- 51:23Speaker 1: It's like, dude, you can see it on the tape, man,
- 51:25Speaker 1: Like I know. So yeah, as I know is if
- 51:29Speaker 1: Rudy would have had the game he had last game,
- 51:32Speaker 1: it would have been the national news, you know, two
- 51:35Speaker 1: points four rebounds or some shit like that. But that's
- 51:39Speaker 1: not what defense is all about. Like you said, he's
- 51:42Speaker 1: the quarterback, and he still was making a difference even
- 51:45Speaker 1: though the stats look bad. Yeah, and they are bad.
- 51:49Speaker 1: He had more fouls than you know. But but there's
- 51:53Speaker 1: times where people say something about Rudy. I'd be like,
- 51:55Speaker 1: all right, dude, but he's a plus twenty two and
- 51:57Speaker 1: look at his on off like I disagree. Now they're
- 52:01Speaker 1: totally different role players, but yeah, yeah, the whole I
- 52:05Speaker 1: will say what Green said after the game, take him
- 52:09Speaker 1: out of it. That is one true you got if
- 52:13Speaker 1: you take him out of that what he said, you
- 52:16Speaker 1: know about the angry black man. And yeah, even like
- 52:19Speaker 1: when you you know, when there's a shooter, right, it
- 52:23Speaker 1: happens to be white. You'll see him with this. Like
- 52:25Speaker 1: I just saw the other day some dude shut up
- 52:27Speaker 1: his family and they're showing him on a jet ski.
- 52:30Speaker 1: You know. So Yeah, they do that. That totally applies
- 52:34Speaker 1: in this country. However, he has earned his you know
- 52:39Speaker 1: what I mean. He has earned his reputation on the court,
- 52:42Speaker 1: both good and bad, you know what I mean. So
- 52:44Speaker 1: he has done that. So in many ways, what he's
- 52:49Speaker 1: actually saying is one hundredercent true. It just doesn't fit
- 52:53Speaker 1: in that part because you are the one You you
- 52:57Speaker 1: can only kick, push punch, you know what I mean. Dude,
- 53:00Speaker 1: I watched the eighties nineties. I drew a whole different
- 53:03Speaker 1: time frame. I don't look at him as it's that
- 53:08Speaker 1: negative because that's just what happens. Because the thing about
- 53:11Speaker 1: Draymond is people will talk shit until he's on your team. Yeah,
- 53:16Speaker 1: once he's on your team, you're like, hey, man, actually
- 53:18Speaker 1: Draymond's pretty good. Actually, you know, all of a sudden
- 53:21Speaker 1: you like him, you know what I mean. So, but
- 53:23Speaker 1: I do think he's I think what Rudy said a
- 53:25Speaker 1: couple of years back. Every time Curry goes out with
- 53:29Speaker 1: an injury, Draymond finds a way to get suspended. He
- 53:32Speaker 1: don't want to be playing at that time. So I
- 53:35Speaker 1: am seeing a little bit of that. I'll say that,
- 53:37Speaker 1: but he's getting old in the tooth and his effectiveness
- 53:40Speaker 1: is kind of up and down. But but what are
- 53:43Speaker 1: your thoughts here? So you do think they'll close it
- 53:45Speaker 1: out even though they're underachieved. You think they're finally getting
- 53:47Speaker 1: that Wilson are finally going to find some sort of
- 53:50Speaker 1: offensive proof, right like even the score up one on
- 53:55Speaker 1: nine or something like that. Or is he gonna be
- 53:58Speaker 1: just another rough and tumble game because they've now in
- 54:02Speaker 1: the clutch they're four and oh they had two in
- 54:06Speaker 1: this one. Now they have two in this or two
- 54:08Speaker 1: in the prime previous one, two in this one when
- 54:11Speaker 1: they were twenty two and twenty six and clutch moments
- 54:14Speaker 1: during the season. I'll give them credit. They have flipped
- 54:18Speaker 1: that way they've executed in close games. I'll give him that.
- 54:21Speaker 2: I think this one's a dogfight, but I think that
- 54:24Speaker 2: I think they win today. I think the Wolves running
- 54:26Speaker 2: out the gym in game five, so I think Wolves
- 54:29Speaker 2: went both But I think this one's gonna be a
- 54:31Speaker 2: eighty seven to ninety two kind of game that's just ugly.
- 54:35Speaker 2: And then the Wolves come home, there's little Curry and
- 54:39Speaker 2: for once, the Wolves treat target fans, target center fans
- 54:42Speaker 2: to have blowout easy heart conditioning win.
- 54:46Speaker 1: Like Lakers Game one or something. Oh no, that was
- 54:48Speaker 1: that was on the road. Yeah, that was on the road. Actually,
- 54:51Speaker 1: so yeah, they still have yes to do it. Yeah yeah,
- 54:57Speaker 1: both those three and fourward, Yeah, that's right, three and
- 54:59Speaker 1: four at home, but they were grinded out games. So yeah,
- 55:03Speaker 1: we'll see. I think ultimately this does help though, moving forward,
- 55:08Speaker 1: if if the Terminals get by him, you know, just
- 55:11Speaker 1: seeing hey, dude, they shut your ship down, you know. Yeah,
- 55:15Speaker 1: And so I think it's a it's a good lesson
- 55:18Speaker 1: because they do need that just in general. But you're
- 55:23Speaker 1: still so five and five in five, ye, gentlemen, the
- 55:29Speaker 1: way I think, I think, you know, fucking Curry is
- 55:32Speaker 1: gonna come back game six and they'll be in a
- 55:34Speaker 1: game seven, and you know, I swear to God, we
- 55:38Speaker 1: played better. I swear to God, Marshall, if Curry was playing,
- 55:41Speaker 1: we'd play better. Though not to say we lose. It
- 55:44Speaker 1: would maybe we'd be down one to two to one.
- 55:47Speaker 1: But that's just how this individual team goes, I don't
- 55:51Speaker 1: you know, And Ant is kind of like that, like, oh,
- 55:54Speaker 1: you don't got Curry, all right, cool, I'll show up.
- 55:57Speaker 1: I'm gonna show up to the game and everything. I'm
- 55:58Speaker 1: gonna be there for two, but I don't him, you know,
- 56:01Speaker 1: so maybe he found something down the stretch in that
- 56:04Speaker 1: second half because his habit is just jacking, like I
- 56:08Speaker 1: gotta get I gotta get out of this slump, so
- 56:10Speaker 1: I'm gonna shoot my way out. Well, you don't want
- 56:11Speaker 1: to turn down shots, of course, not you know, you
- 56:14Speaker 1: don't want to Ben Simmons, you know, and not wanting
- 56:17Speaker 1: to get fouled and shit like that, but you want
- 56:20Speaker 1: to take the right three at the right time. And
- 56:22Speaker 1: that's what he did down the stretch, and a lot
- 56:24Speaker 1: of it was based off that passing where he was
- 56:26Speaker 1: just sitting there catching shoot boom. You know. Yes, So yeah,
- 56:30Speaker 1: I think we're in agreeance there. I think I had
- 56:34Speaker 1: to do the nuggets just to get out of this agreeance.
- 56:36Speaker 1: We're agreeing too much. Uh yeah, I think that about
- 56:40Speaker 1: wraps it up, sir.
- 56:42Speaker 2: Okay, just for the one random fun fact today, all
- 56:45Speaker 2: that fun fact, but news is the fact that is
- 56:47Speaker 2: the Dallas Mavericks won the NBA lottery. So another Dukie
- 56:51Speaker 2: is gonna be playing We're in see where I live.
- 56:54Speaker 1: In at the conspiracy start.
- 56:57Speaker 2: Cooper Flag is probably going to Dallas so yeah, we'll see,
- 57:03Speaker 2: we'll see.
- 57:03Speaker 1: Hey, that old boy is like, Hey, I told you guys,
- 57:06Speaker 1: I already got the number one pick. We didn't need Luca.
- 57:09Speaker 1: You know, I got another white boy.
- 57:11Speaker 2: I'll say this on Aeric Chris, I don't Cooper Flagg
- 57:15Speaker 2: is gonna be Luca Donches. I'll say that, I'll stick
- 57:18Speaker 2: to that guarantee.
- 57:19Speaker 1: He's not gonna step in the league and do what
- 57:20Speaker 1: he did, you know. No.
- 57:23Speaker 2: Yeah, and despite of the crap, Whoka gets that dude
- 57:25Speaker 2: is still top three offensive player in the world. So yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 57:30Speaker 2: all right. Well, hey, we've been spoiled very very much
- 57:34Speaker 2: with the first set of Round two games. Hopefully the
- 57:37Speaker 2: second half of Round two stays just as well. Boils
- 57:41Speaker 2: be back next week. We're out having a good night peace,
