- 0:00Sallallahu Alaykay, ABBA Abdullah Abdullah, Ajorana
- 0:03Ajorakum, Salaam Alaikum and welcome back to another episode
- 0:08on The Aftermath, the podcast. We are still in the 10 nights
- 0:11leading up to the 10th of Muharram, the day of Ashwara.
- 0:14Many of us are on Chatallah listening to this episode,
- 0:16possibly in our car on the way to a majlis or coming back home
- 0:20or in the comfort of your own homes.
- 0:21Wherever you are around the world.
- 0:23We asked Allah Soprano to Allah to accept your Azhar, to accept
- 0:26your service, to accept your tears and Insha'allah always
- 0:29having the opportunity to be under, as we say in Iraqi, under
- 0:33the heme of the hedme of Imam Hussain Ali Abdullah Salati
- 0:37Wasalam and today's episode we want to look at the life of Lady
- 0:42Zainab Salamullahi Aleha, the role she played in Islam, what
- 0:46she played, the role she had in Karbala on Ashura and the
- 0:50relationship and that connection and that bond she had with Imam
- 0:54and Hussein ABBA Abdullah Alaihi.
- 0:56Abdullah Salati was Salaam and we are joined by a guest that
- 1:00requires no introduction. However, as we always do, like
- 1:03every week, I would like to welcome my Hosseini Co host
- 1:07Ahmed Salam Aliq. I'm keeping saying.
- 1:21I'm keeping well, I've listened today to about 3 massage before
- 1:26actually going to imagine this and I listened to the massage of
- 1:29Umun Benin, so I've had the very My mind's all over the place
- 1:34when it comes to Karbala. How has your nights been?
- 1:39Yeah, it's been intense, it's been heavy, it's been emotional.
- 1:46I feel like there's been a lot of inshallah presence of say,
- 1:51the apartment in the Majalis that I've attended.
- 1:55And I can see the sincerity in the volunteers in of course, our
- 2:00speakers, our our scholars, but also the people around.
- 2:04And I'm trying to take it all in and Inshallah, trying to benefit
- 2:08as much as possible and trying to find ways to give back
- 2:12Inshallah because Imam Hussein Al Islam gave everything for us
- 2:18and we have to find something we can give back to him, no matter
- 2:22how small that might be. So Inshallah we want to give
- 2:27back hopefully to you all to the audience, Inshallah today by
- 2:31bringing you a guest who you have seen Hamdallah a couple of
- 2:34times before and after Mahreb, he is our teacher, he is our
- 2:39brother Hamdallah and we're so honoured to be rejoined once
- 2:42again this year by none other than our dear brother and our
- 2:46dear teacher, said Abdullah and Hakim Sahm Ali Khunseid.
- 2:48Ali Khun sahm Ali Ali Khun sahmah Hamdallah was a
- 2:51introduction I didn't deserve. I think it was not Habibi
- 2:54honoured, honoured to be here. We're.
- 2:55So lucky to have you again in the UK and Bin Lad this year.
- 2:59You were speaking in Haiti Islamic Centre in South London,
- 3:02which is a fantastic community. It's a beautiful how how has
- 3:05your how's your trip been so far?
- 3:08Beautiful Muharram, you know, it's, it's one of those
- 3:11interesting things. It's like a bittersweet taste,
- 3:14you know, things that we really look forward to all year round,
- 3:17you know, since Arbayan, you kind of look forward to the next
- 3:20Muharram. I wouldn't say excitement but
- 3:25rather willingness to be in these atmospheres that we do
- 3:30have and sadness obviously when I remember about Abdullah and
- 3:35see still till now Imam Mehdi is waiting for us to prepare
- 3:40ourselves. So in that sense, you know
- 3:44sadness but in the same sense as well seeing everyone come
- 3:48together, you know, and rid themselves of everything.
- 3:52That this piece is Allah, and this month, Subhan Allah, the
- 3:55numbers that come in and want to be guided by Mohammed Hussein
- 4:00Ali and Salaam is very inspirational.
- 4:02So it's beautiful in that sense, without a doubt.
- 4:06So yeah, that's what we're going to go towards.
- 4:09Every single year we see, you know, different communities
- 4:13around the world where you see kind of overlapping struggles.
- 4:20And each and every community you see just how much Imam Hussein
- 4:23impacts their life, every single person in a different manner.
- 4:27And so when you come to the Majalis, you see, you know, I
- 4:31may say a whole lecture, one person will hold on to number.
- 4:35You know, .11 would hold on to .21 would hold on to, you know,
- 4:40just a line from the Quran or a line from what happened in
- 4:44Karbala. And they resonate with that.
- 4:46So you never really know. And the importance is as well, I
- 4:51think in the Maginas, the fact is that when you see, you know,
- 4:58all these different people coming, the hospitality that
- 5:03every single centre has had of a welcoming nature is it's changed
- 5:08over time. That's, that's my experience
- 5:11that used to be, you know, very much how do I say this in the
- 5:17best way? But the welcoming nature was
- 5:20very different, you know, to those that were known in the
- 5:22community not to be of a religious nature.
- 5:26But as it's progressed, you begin to see that no, no, it's
- 5:29all of a sudden like, no, we need to even put more of an
- 5:32effort for the people that do not come to the Masjid.
- 5:34You do not come to the, you know, Hussainia to actually grab
- 5:38them, you know, holding onto this whole idea of Mom Hussein
- 5:41being. The arc of salvation, like let's
- 5:44utilize this time to bring these people that don't usually come,
- 5:47don't know who Imam Hussein is, don't know what he stands for.
- 5:50But the fact is that Imam Hussein has chosen you to, you
- 5:54know, put your footsteps into the Masjid, into the
- 5:56Husseiniyah. That welcoming nature doesn't,
- 6:00you know, makes them not want to leave, makes them wants to stay
- 6:03there, want to learn more, want to be part of the community.
- 6:05So over time, I think we begin to see that.
- 6:08More and more. And we hear stories.
- 6:10We see things. And you know, what's happening
- 6:14in the world now and the oppression around the world, I
- 6:16think a lot of people have kind of migrated to begin to
- 6:20understand what is this Shias call of thought?
- 6:23You know, what is this Hussein that you always say that he
- 6:26stood up against oppression. So all that coming together, the
- 6:31atmosphere right now is it's beautiful from a learning
- 6:35perspective and being guided perspective, you know, for
- 6:38myself first and foremost as well, and whomever holds onto
- 6:42the rope. Of him on, I said, I said.
- 6:45Beautiful, beautiful. And, and if I can just share
- 6:47before we actually open the discussion is that I have been
- 6:50following your lunches, I believe.
- 6:51So I'm up to date Al Hamdallah with, with the, with the, the
- 6:56topics you've chosen, which are very interesting.
- 6:58And it's topics that we don't normally hear outside of
- 7:00Muharram. So it's something we appreciate
- 7:02quite a lot. And I'm learning about Islamic
- 7:04unity, I'm learning about anger and things like this.
- 7:07These are things we deal with day-to-day in our lives.
- 7:09Be at work, be our friends, be on the streets when we go, even
- 7:13sometimes shopping in Asda or Tesco's here in the UK.
- 7:16We interact. We can, something can make us
- 7:18angry or we have a conversation with another Muslim.
- 7:20Like how do we get like these things really help us and share
- 7:22our lives as good Husseinis, as good Muslims, as good money.
- 7:26And so thank you for the lectures that you deliver for
- 7:29the community. Sayidna, I think let's begin
- 7:33here. If it's OK with you, it's Lady
- 7:37Zaina. We know Ali has Salaam, she has
- 7:40a high status. We all know.
- 7:44Sometimes actually, I understand here.
- 7:46I feel like as a community we do a form of injustice by just
- 7:51saying or limiting the daughter of Emira Mohmanin to just
- 7:56Karbala or just Aishwarya and we just leave her within the
- 8:01parameters of Mossaib. But there is more to learn from
- 8:05Saida Zainab Ali as Salaam. What can we learn or know about
- 8:09her greatness and the role she played within Islam?
- 8:13I'm not sure where you want to take the conversation, but.
- 8:16You wanted to look at it outside the scope of Karbala.
- 8:19But we will get definitely get into that.
- 8:21But I want to know Lady Zainab outside of Karbala.
- 8:25So we can we can go very, very early on.
- 8:27So say the Zainab. I have a lot of salatu Salaam.
- 8:33You know, we go to very young age because you know, sometimes
- 8:36you, you think, you know, Zainab, obviously she's going to
- 8:38be great because you know, her mother is Fatima, her father is
- 8:42alumni without of the grandfather Rasulullah.
- 8:45But you know, necessarily when you look at it through the Holy
- 8:47Quran, it's not really a prerequisite by any means.
- 8:51You know, you look at, let's say the the story of Yousuf.
- 8:56They were all sons of a prophet and brothers of a prophet.
- 9:01But did they turn out as good question mark?
- 9:05You know, But on the flip side, you could be married to someone
- 9:08that is a dictator and says and still be one of the four
- 9:13greatest women ever to exist. So the Quran gives you the
- 9:16parameters. It doesn't, you know.
- 9:17It doesn't necessitate that you're from this family, that
- 9:19you are a great person, nor does it say that you're from a not so
- 9:23great environment that you cannot turn out to be good.
- 9:27But the parameters are there, that yet within the same
- 9:29household, the why he's there, the footprint of Gibralti is
- 9:33there. So you see, OK, there's already
- 9:35a guidance at such a young age. But with that you need to ask
- 9:40yourself, but let's look at who Zainab is.
- 9:43So you know the famous. Story that we see that mum Ali
- 9:47at such a young age, he would go towards Zainab, he told her the
- 9:52tell me one you know and Zainab would say one.
- 9:56And says Zainab say too, and she wouldn't say anything.
- 9:59Zainab say too, doesn't say anything.
- 10:02And then says, Zainab, why do you not say too?
- 10:05And the famous reply that comes is how can the tongue that
- 10:07uttered the oneness of Allah say other than that?
- 10:11So at a such a young age, you know, some people don't allude
- 10:14to the fact that, you know, we go towards Hotwa Fatima Zahrah.
- 10:18Yeah. We learn about the Hotwa Fatima
- 10:20Zahrah and you've you've seen it.
- 10:22It's it's, it's, it's massive. Someone comes to relate it
- 10:26something amazing. We take time just in learning
- 10:28the Hotwa. You know, reading it takes time.
- 10:30Imagine learning the Hotwa. Now imagine if you're a four
- 10:33year old transmitter of the tradition of Fatimati Zahara is
- 10:39a four year old Zainab, 4 years of age, narrates the whole
- 10:44speech of her mother, Fatimati Zahara.
- 10:46So greatness is there and we see that characteristics.
- 10:52And then when you look at the life of say the Zainab, as as
- 10:56hurtful as it is to say, but it's always being in a sense
- 11:00that it is leading up to prepare her for Karabella and what
- 11:07occurs afterwards. Because as we're going to
- 11:09discuss the importance of her position and what she did
- 11:15impacts each and every one of us till today.
- 11:18So Imam Alimi Batalib has always been in a position where he
- 11:22tried and succeeded in laying down the foundations, which is
- 11:28Zeynep. So I'll give you examples.
- 11:32So we know part of the Mossad that always they reiterate from
- 11:36the pulpits that no one saw the shadow of Zeynep.
- 11:39The fact that, you know, even at night when she would want to go
- 11:42and visit Rasul Allah, when she want to go to visit the grave of
- 11:45her mother, that he would go at the night because there's no
- 11:50light. And on top of that, he would be
- 11:53in front, Abbas in the back, Hassan and Hussein on either
- 11:56side. So no one sees, you know, a
- 11:58glimmer of her height, etcetera. Yeah.
- 12:02And they wouldn't take a candle, the candle that they live with.
- 12:05So you can see your path. It would extinguish the light in
- 12:08it. And that's why when you go
- 12:10towards the court, it would say, are you Zainab?
- 12:13The one that they used to extinguish the light so that
- 12:18that aura followed her around. You're not so much sure that I
- 12:21came across a tradition that I found very, very interesting.
- 12:26And just this speaks to how Imam Imam Alibnikitayleb tried to
- 12:31always protect Zainab from everything.
- 12:35So the tradition goes, a personality came.
- 12:38I'm trying to remember his name now, Alesha Athiban Pais.
- 12:44So the Khalifas that preceded married their daughters to him
- 12:52and so it comes to Emerald Mamuni and says I want to ask
- 12:54for your daughter Zainab's hand. Now something normal yes someone
- 13:01comes and asks for a hand in marriage.
- 13:05So but look at the reply of mum Ali, he said first you know like
- 13:09again he repeated that and Imam Ali that it says that leave you
- 13:16leave this issue and do not mention her name on your tongue
- 13:21again lest I cut that tongue of yours.
- 13:26So not just Zainab is protected, even uttering her name on your
- 13:33tongue is now a protection for me as Ali and Nebutallab look at
- 13:38the levels that I mean. What I mean has protected Zainab
- 13:41and Kunta and guided her towards something which will learn what
- 13:45that something is. So in that aspect of protection,
- 13:50you begin to see that he has things that other people will
- 13:53look at to be like Holden, are you allowed to do such a thing?
- 13:56Example is when she was married, he would tell her husband that
- 14:02my condition is she follows Hossein wherever he goes.
- 14:06So laying down the foundations so that you begin to see that
- 14:09from day one, Zeynep has always been moving towards her role in
- 14:20Karbala, always moving towards that role, you know, and, and
- 14:24they knew it. Every single one of them knew
- 14:26it. And that's why we have the
- 14:27traditions that say Imam and Hassan was born Rasul Allah
- 14:32cries, tells Fatima Tazarah Hussein is born Rasul Allah
- 14:38cries, tells Fatima Zarah, so they have a daughter when they
- 14:42have a daughter. So the Fatima was like, you
- 14:45know, like they men calamity's tragedy of how I have a daughter
- 14:52and also Allah, the tragedy says he cries even more for this
- 14:55young daughter. And what's what's going on?
- 14:59Is she also going to be in a state of calamity?
- 15:02And then she finds out what happens to this Zeyneb.
- 15:06And that's why throughout, throughout her life, she's
- 15:09always protected from being hurt because they couldn't handle
- 15:13seeing Zeyneb hurt. Rasulullah had a certain love
- 15:18towards her. Fatima Tazara.
- 15:20The traditions always tell us that Zainab was in a moment
- 15:24where, you know, even when Fatima Tazara is buried.
- 15:29Ali Nabhat Ali is reciting Quran, falls asleep.
- 15:33Fatima comes to him. Zainab has awoken, doesn't have
- 15:38a mother. Make sure that she still has a
- 15:40father while you're here, Ali. I mean only who struck, he's
- 15:45been carried, can barely walk. But at that moment he says he
- 15:49sees Zainab and he says lift me up, let me walk.
- 15:53I don't want Zainab's heart to be hurt by seeing me in such a
- 15:56state. I said likewise when he's
- 16:00regurgitating all that poison into a bowl, sees Zainab, he
- 16:06says Hussain hide. So the protection in one level
- 16:12from hurting that heart of Zainab and preparing her for
- 16:16what is to come has been seen throughout.
- 16:19And so with these two parameters that go side by side, you begin
- 16:23to see what we look at in Karbala that's documented, is
- 16:29indicative of the way that she was brought up and that's what
- 16:34she achieved as a result of all those years of preparation.
- 16:38We're going to discuss obviously what we learnt from Zeyneb
- 16:41during Karbala and what preceded.
- 16:45So in a more of a light, she was always being prepared for this.
- 16:50But that greatness, you know, it stemmed from that period of time
- 16:55even before Karbala. We only he of that Zainab in
- 16:57Karbala, not necessarily he what it took to become Zainab.
- 17:03So that's the essence and there's so many things we can
- 17:07look at, you know, like, like we stated, the knowledge that she
- 17:10had knowledge, you know, you can go towards traditions that say
- 17:15in Alemeni Rasulullah Alphab and Manila and Yufta Haman Kulibab
- 17:20and Alphabab, Alemeni Rasul teaches you.
- 17:25Yeah, so you have a teacher. But then when it comes towards,
- 17:28say, the Zainab, not comparing obviously, I mean, also has
- 17:32divine knowledge. But in this aspect, it's trying
- 17:35to showcase that Rasulullah is the city of knowledge and he's
- 17:38his gate. You found that Imam Zen Abedin
- 17:44in the travel after Karbala whilst she's saying the sermon
- 17:48that she did she he says to her you are Aleman.
- 17:52Everyone says Alemeni Rasulullah in that situation I mean and you
- 17:58find a mum say Jazz says about Zainab Aleman.
- 18:02Aleman meaning what? Student without a teacher
- 18:05without a teacher student. Without a teacher.
- 18:08So where's that knowledge coming from?
- 18:11It's godly. Quran says it and refers to it
- 18:15as Ledonni when it goes towards the story of Mosa and Qadar.
- 18:18This is alumna home in la Donna Elma from us.
- 18:22So now they have the island Iktesabe that you can gain and
- 18:26there's one that is bestowed upon you.
- 18:29So Zainab, now all of a sudden, you know we have the 14 muscle
- 18:32mean specific and then you have the self attained muscle mean
- 18:39that have endeavour to perfect their characteristics to such a
- 18:43level that they are self attained infallibles because
- 18:48they have worked towards achieving them.
- 18:51It's achievable nonetheless. So then you have that knowledge
- 18:55as one of the greatest characteristics someone can have
- 18:59and that was found in Zeynep from an early age of four.
- 19:03And then it's showcased to another level when she was heard
- 19:09after Karbala. You know, there's so many, so
- 19:12many things said you've mentioned which are so
- 19:16empowering to hear about, say, the Zeinab's formula.
- 19:19They are, but at the same time, equally heartbreaking,
- 19:23especially when when you talk about Abiramat Minin saying you
- 19:29should not, you should be wary of even mentioning her name on
- 19:33your tongue. And this is the same, say the
- 19:35Zeinab who was paraded through the bazaar and who was who was
- 19:43who was made into a a display of entertainment and whose modesty
- 19:50was was removed. And unfortunately, we don't
- 19:54recognise sometimes the stature of her and what she did for the
- 19:59Holy Imam in his presence and in his absence as well.
- 20:03Before the podcast, we talked about how in some ways, she.
- 20:07Fills the shoes of her mother, said it in the Sahalamin Islam
- 20:11Alayhi Alayhi and how she acts as a motherly figure for Imam
- 20:16Hussein Alayhi Salaam and also for the camp at large.
- 20:20You know, during the battle, before the battle, during and
- 20:23even after, how she assumes that motherly position, that maternal
- 20:27responsibility, how she assumed not just the position of a
- 20:31mother, but also in, in some cases acting in, in, in place of
- 20:37the Imam. In his absence.
- 20:40When Imam Sajad al Assalam was unwell and he was unable maybe
- 20:45to, to physically stand up, of course, he was the Imam and his
- 20:49responsibilities remained and his knowledge was not affected
- 20:52at all. But say the Zainab supplemented
- 20:55him with that knowledge, with that leadership, and she acted
- 20:59as the leader and she challenged the enemies of Islam, the
- 21:02enemies of the last panel to Isla with her knowledge and
- 21:05with, with the, the Tarabia, which she gained from her
- 21:09parents and of course her older brothers as well.
- 21:13I just feel like there's, and I think said you alluded to this
- 21:16at the beginning. There's, there's an I, I don't
- 21:19want to say an under appreciation because of course,
- 21:21say the Zainab is everything, everything you cannot mention,
- 21:26say the Zainab and without mentioning a mum Hussein and you
- 21:29cannot mention the mum Hussein without mentioning say the
- 21:31Zainab. And they go hand in hand.
- 21:35And you can talk about the relationship with Abbas al Islam
- 21:38and say the Zenit talk about the relationship between Bibirokhaya
- 21:41and say the Zenit and the list goes on.
- 21:45But when I say under appreciation, maybe that's not
- 21:48the best word, but rather we don't understand, we can't
- 21:51comprehend her greatness. If a middle what many this just
- 21:54hit me now, but it's what I said.
- 21:56If a middle what many is saying, watch what you say when you say
- 21:59her name, then this is something for us to be aware of surely.
- 22:03What is it about Sada Zaynab which amongst her many
- 22:08attributes you mentioned her knowledge?
- 22:10What about her status and her stature in that regard?
- 22:16There's so, so like I want to touch up a few points before
- 22:20like that's like the motherly thing that you mentioned is
- 22:23something like it's, it's so powerful because there's a lot
- 22:30of gestures that occurred in Karbala that kind of persona.
- 22:33Personify what you just said because Habib comes, you know,
- 22:37when the the famous dialogue happens between Zainab and Imam
- 22:42Hussain. Have you tested your men?
- 22:44Yes, he's goes towards the Mukhayim.
- 22:49Habib comes, and when you talk about greatness and you ask, you
- 22:52know about his status, what happens in that moment?
- 22:56Habib comes, takes the swords out of their sheets, and he
- 23:00takes the oath so that Zeynep can hear that we are not ready
- 23:03to put them back into their sheets, lest we put them in our
- 23:07enemies. So Mahasan gives Zeynep
- 23:10permission. What's the next thing she does?
- 23:14Because we're talking about being a motherly figure and
- 23:16assuming the post of Fatima, What does she do before she goes
- 23:21outside to address them? She puts on the ABBA of our
- 23:26mother Fatima, before she addresses them.
- 23:30Know who is my mother? Know who I am the daughter of
- 23:34when I address you. At that moment, knowing her
- 23:37position, what does Habib begin to do?
- 23:39Throws himself on the ground, puts sand on his head, the dust
- 23:44on his head. He says, Who am I?
- 23:47Zeynep? The voice is heard by me.
- 23:51Who am I that Zeynep speaks to me?
- 23:54And this is Habib, this is the person that, you know, like
- 23:57Fatih Al Hussein addresses him. Anyone who's got knowledge of
- 24:02Zainab, it's definitely going to be him.
- 24:05So he recognizes that greatness of Zainab.
- 24:08So in the position in Karbala, the whole time, you'll see that
- 24:12Imam Hussein's, he has a bus on the battlefield, but every time
- 24:17he goes to the tents, who's there?
- 24:20Every time he drags a body in the tents, who's there?
- 24:24Imam Hussein loses Ali in Al Akbar.
- 24:27He goes the other way, doesn't he?
- 24:29Ala Dunya Bada Khalafa. Who's the one that tells him,
- 24:32Hussein, you're going the wrong way?
- 24:34Ali's over there. Zainab.
- 24:36When Raliah comes back from the battlefield, doesn't know where
- 24:39to put him. Puts him under his clothes.
- 24:43He's looking around, looking around.
- 24:44Who do I give Raliah to? Can't give it back to Rabab.
- 24:48Call me Zainab till the last moments, you know, Mahelen,
- 24:53Mahela, Eben and Zahra. This is what kind of sister am I
- 24:57that I'm bringing a horse so you may ride out towards your death.
- 25:04She needed to be the mountain of patience that she was.
- 25:09And when you begin to see this Abasi de Zena be like, OK, then
- 25:14there's something about her character that we are lacking.
- 25:18We do not understand because what kind of woman goes through
- 25:22all of this and is still a mountain of patience.
- 25:25Then you see her upbringing. Then you see that she knows that
- 25:28she even after Mohammed Hussain returns back towards Allah, her
- 25:34mission starts then and there it continues.
- 25:38Because when you, when you stated yes, Mohammed Hussain,
- 25:41when he died, Imam Sejad, then an Aberdeen was sick.
- 25:47Shekhmah Makani has a statement which you alluded to.
- 25:51He says if we were to assume everything and understand what
- 25:54happened in Karbala and taking into consideration the position
- 26:00and the sickness of Imam Sajjad, it's unjust not to say that
- 26:07Zainab to a degree held some of the weight of Imam on her
- 26:12shoulders. What kind of personality do you
- 26:16need to be? What kind of character do you
- 26:17have to be in order for you to hold some of the weight of
- 26:22Imamat on your shoulders? And this can be seen?
- 26:27Mama said God gives her the permission to give the fatwas on
- 26:30His behalf. Go and ask my Auntie Zainab what
- 26:35kind of personality is she? Her greatness is seen in so many
- 26:40different ways. To show you what Allah has given
- 26:44her. You go to tell Zainabi Teller,
- 26:48Zainab, you all go. We wipe our cheeks on it.
- 26:52We seek blessings from being in that position.
- 26:55What was telesainabi? Telesainabi is a piece of earth.
- 27:01That said, the Zainab honored with her feet.
- 27:05You and I go and seek blessings from that.
- 27:08The Zainab honored with their feet.
- 27:12See the Zainab, she did everything with certainty.
- 27:19When she did it with certainty, she knew very well what the
- 27:21outcome is. And that's why when she's found
- 27:24speaking towards mum Sajjad, she speaks towards Mum Sajjad.
- 27:29She sees him in a very saddened state.
- 27:33Now, just to show you the foresight that you can't
- 27:36envision, the depth of this lady's knowledge and foresight,
- 27:42lest you read this particular line because you're like a
- 27:46Zainab. Yes, you had a good character.
- 27:48She was a strong woman and she fought against oppression.
- 27:52It's much more than that, much more than that.
- 27:55She's seen everything we're doing right now.
- 28:00She's seen it as clear as day. From this statement.
- 28:03She goes towards Mama Sejjad, Miley Araka to Judo Binesika
- 28:07Bakiya TE. Why do I see you, you know, in a
- 28:11saddened state. Oh, that which remains of my
- 28:14family. Mali arakate judo binovsica.
- 28:17Yeah. Bakayete ehli fenohu.
- 28:21Allah. I had done mean Allah.
- 28:26That by Allah, this what's occurring is a covenant that
- 28:30Allah has given to your father and grandfather.
- 28:33I had done mean Allah. The jeddaka ebik wasayun sabo
- 28:37alamun Fattah Zainab. Same to you, mamse ajad.
- 28:41There will be a flag. That will be placed in puff,
- 28:44being in Karbala, that will outlast the days and nights and
- 28:53the enemies will come together to bring it down.
- 29:01This flag which is Hussein, this flag was what occurred in
- 29:05Karbala. This flag which is the sacrifice
- 29:09will be put in Karbala, the enemies and we see over time
- 29:13they will come together into joint effort to bring this flag
- 29:17down, to bring the name of Imam Hussein down, to bring the name
- 29:20and hide the truth which is al al bait come together.
- 29:24But then what did she say? Fellai is dad Allah Alluwah
- 29:28doesn't go down every time they try.
- 29:32Every time they try, elevate and elevate and elevate.
- 29:36Allah has a covenant. So when you see these words
- 29:39from, say, the zeynep towards Zejad, words of foresight, all
- 29:45of a sudden you begin to see zeynep as something else.
- 29:50And sometimes we really need to read between the lines to see
- 29:53like, OK, now I begin to see the capabilities of Zeynep.
- 29:58You know when you read the tradition, when Zeynep enters
- 30:02Kufa, you read that tradition. You can imagine everyone
- 30:08celebrating them coming in. Yeah, they've been captured.
- 30:11Finally, everyone's that you've come to see is happy.
- 30:16So there was noise, animals, people, streets full.
- 30:22The tradition. Look what it says.
- 30:25It says for Omar ET biedehil yumna, Omar ET biedehil yumna
- 30:30Omar ET means. She gestured, signalled with her
- 30:36right hand. Not a sound was to be heard.
- 30:41Nothing. Every single thing that spoke
- 30:45made movements, whether it be anime, in anime everything was
- 30:49silent, nothing. Not a word.
- 30:53Then she spoke. Now you come and tell me.
- 30:56Yeah, me. 2-3 people are talking, you think I can make
- 30:58them stop talking? A whole street in Kufa being
- 31:05paraded animals, whips, soldiers, crying children,
- 31:12everything of of the calamity that just occurred.
- 31:15She just gestures, not a sound. You come and explain that to me.
- 31:21We read it so many times. Have we contemplated over the
- 31:24fact that she just does, that Allah makes it possible?
- 31:31Scott given strength and you know, saying that you you said,
- 31:36you know, she visioned like she can see what's happening here
- 31:39today. And it's very similar to the
- 31:41lines where she says, and we always read and we hear from the
- 31:44pulpus and and the Menarda is that when she goes on to say you
- 31:48will never ever erase our memory.
- 31:50Like she even saw that. And Subhan Allahu, we see this
- 31:53living here today that we have hundreds of millions of Muslims
- 31:57commemorating Karbala thanks to Saila Zainabales remembering
- 32:02Imam and Hussain thanks to say the second saving the religion
- 32:05of Islam free Mohammed Hussain via say the Zainab.
- 32:09So Zainab play the critical role in Islam.
- 32:12Omal Mossayab. Omal Mossam is one of the names,
- 32:15and it is one of the most painful names.
- 32:17I need to to be called Omal Mossayeb.
- 32:19It's not something easy. It's not something like.
- 32:22How great must the tragedy be to be known as the mother of
- 32:25tragedy? It's it's it's, it's just heart
- 32:28wrenching honestly. With all that, what did she say?
- 32:31Mara ET to Allah. Jamilah Mara ET to Allah
- 32:35Jamilah, I saw nothing but the beauty of God.
- 32:39I just I just saw at the same time.
- 32:41Yeah, Subhan Allah. Like to, to, to say that in the
- 32:45face of tyranny, you know, like when, when, when people need to
- 32:50like really kind of understand that that's close proximity.
- 32:54Imagine walking into the most powerful person on the planet at
- 32:58that time, the most powerful person and he parades you in
- 33:02front of people. He's got the head of your
- 33:05brother on his table. He's playing with his face race
- 33:10his teeth. And you know, he says the lines
- 33:15to showcase like I am all powerful.
- 33:17Look what I'm doing to you, you know, and the famous lines that
- 33:20he says of poetry that showcases his disbelief.
- 33:26But that the fact that when she is asked, how did you see
- 33:29Karamela, you and I, if we were to hear the tragedy, Zeyneb's
- 33:38eyes see something else. The lens she's looking at is a
- 33:42godly lens that she sees. And that's why Subhanallah.
- 33:50So when, when you look at the tragedy in itself, you know,
- 33:53every single person resonates with, with Zeyneb in a certain
- 33:58level, you know, like I'd like to ask, you know what, what do
- 34:00you guys resonate with in Karbala with Zeyneb?
- 34:03Out of all the things that occurred, what do you think is
- 34:05the most powerful position for Zeyneb in Karbala?
- 34:10Like that really showed you like this lady is without a shadow of
- 34:16that manifestation of Allah's mercy, Allah's patience.
- 34:20What's what's that one position for you?
- 34:23As in the moment. Moment in Karbala, they're like,
- 34:25this is for me what Zainab is. I think I'm going to answer this
- 34:32from an emotional point because, you know, being this nice.
- 34:36I've heard so much beside and we've related so much to say,
- 34:38say the Zainab Ali Salaam. And I would say she was the
- 34:42comfort, like she was the comfort to Rabab, to Layla, sort
- 34:47of higher to Sukina. Like after, after the battle,
- 34:51after everything that happened, she was the one that looked
- 34:53after everyone. She ensured the, the children
- 34:56didn't feel like they're orphaned.
- 34:58She would ensure that even water reached.
- 35:00I, I was reading the other day that after the battle of
- 35:04Karbala, they drank water. So to a point where the mother
- 35:11of the she went searching for a son because though he was killed
- 35:15and she knows he was killed, yet she still had hope now that
- 35:19she's quenched at first, that she can nurse him.
- 35:22I say the Zainab goes to consult, but what are you doing?
- 35:24Come back to the tents. And that's the sort of
- 35:26conversation where she was always comforting them.
- 35:29So that's how I see, say the Zainab on the 10th of.
- 35:32For me just to add to to what you said, said comfort to to
- 35:38Imam that I say in Islam and especially the kiss on his neck
- 35:43destroys me every single time because she was told that this
- 35:48is where your brother will be slain from here in this manner.
- 35:52And for me that like hits my heart to be honest.
- 35:56And it just shows that she she was given a message and A and a
- 36:02responsibility and like you said, she had to carry that
- 36:05throughout her life with knowledge full well as to what
- 36:09was to happen. And she performed her duty in
- 36:13the absence of her mother for Abdullah.
- 36:16And we know Seyda Fatima came to Karbala and we know she was
- 36:21there. And we know she in these days,
- 36:24she dreads the day of Ashura. She dreads the night of Ashura
- 36:29and and just the knowledge of what will happen to her son.
- 36:33But if there's one thing which adds solace, maybe perhaps to
- 36:37say the Fatima Sahara Salam Alayhi, was that say the Zainab
- 36:40Salam Alayhi Alayhi was there in her place in her stead and acted
- 36:44as a comfort to her brother. And how how beautiful is it that
- 36:49Imam Hussein last year said we were speaking about how far
- 36:52Abbas Islam and his relationship with Imam Hussein Hamdallah.
- 36:55We have the opportunity to see what a blessing it is to speak
- 36:57about now his relationship with his blessed sister.
- 37:00To talk about both siblings and Hamdallah and two, two
- 37:03consecutive years to consecutive Muharram is such an honour to to
- 37:09know that Imam Hussein had he had these two flanks not in the
- 37:14military sense, but in his in his internal domestic sense.
- 37:18His brother and his sister who were there for him, committed to
- 37:22him. Once said I will go out and I'll
- 37:24defend you against the enemies with my armour, with my bare
- 37:27chest. He defended with his eye in his
- 37:30arms. He defended his brother and
- 37:32Seder Zeinab with her modesty, defended her brother with her
- 37:35words defended her brother with her protection over his, his
- 37:40kinship defended her brother. These are the things which are
- 37:44the most important. And just to add beyond that, she
- 37:47defended belief when you talked about when she went to the court
- 37:50and she was told as you mentioned, said so beautifully
- 37:53how Bunny Hashem played with with the Kingdom like like kings
- 37:59as sport. And when she was asked you, did
- 38:02you see what Allah did to you that Allah made this happen to
- 38:05you? And she said, no, Allah did not
- 38:07make this, you did this. Allah gave us nothing but
- 38:09beauty. And this is I saw nothing but
- 38:11beauty. These are the words of someone
- 38:13who embodies Torhid. And I think that that is
- 38:18something so pivotal for us to take away that everything that
- 38:23she did was an embodiment of Torhid like that that.
- 38:28Point the kiss. You know, sometimes you think to
- 38:32yourself, Fatima Salah to Salaam when she died, how old was
- 38:38Zaina? Four yeah, 4/5.
- 38:42She had that conversation with Zainab, and she was four years
- 38:46of age. Like do you know like 50?
- 38:49Plus years. She'd remember that.
- 38:52Wow. And she'd had to carry that
- 38:56until the moment when Mohammed Hussain has no one.
- 38:59She knew. It's coming, it's coming, it's
- 39:01coming. You know, she did definitely
- 39:06embody toe hate, otherwise she would not have been able to do
- 39:09what she did. For me, I think the greatest
- 39:13moment is the fact that when you look at Imam and Hussain, during
- 39:21the whole event of Karbala, every time someone would fall,
- 39:28Imam and Hussain would offer him as a sacrifice.
- 39:33O Allah, except for me, O Allah, O my Raviya, let this not be
- 39:38harder on you. Then losing Natal Salah for
- 39:41example, to the end of it. And then for me, the greatest
- 39:46moment that showcased the patient, the strength and the
- 39:54tragedy in the same time of Zainab was when you think to
- 39:58yourself for over 50 years, every time you wake up, you look
- 40:03upon the face of ABBA Abdullah and you see his smile.
- 40:11You see his lips that are not dry from the 1st that very
- 40:19moment. You think to yourself, she's
- 40:21seen him every single morning and then she sees his head on a
- 40:26spear. But even then, she said, I still
- 40:30have a mission. And for me the greatest moment
- 40:33was in the night of the 10th, while she's running from one
- 40:39tent to another, exhausted, trying to protect the next imam
- 40:45from being attacked. Sees the children, some of them
- 40:50burnt, some of them trampled by the hooves.
- 40:53But she says no, I still have to do something before anything
- 40:56else. So she goes into the plains of
- 41:00Karbala between the headless bodies.
- 41:04Who knows, maybe she passed Aun, maybe she passed Muhammad, maybe
- 41:09she passed others that she grew up with from her family members.
- 41:15And then she sees what remains of the body of ABBA Abdullah.
- 41:19You know, it's trampled body. What remains, you know, like
- 41:24back and forth ten of the horses, whatever remains of the
- 41:28body of ABBA Abdullah and she places her hands, you know, once
- 41:33a body that moments ago she embraced what remains of her.
- 41:38She puts her hand under the body and she raises that which
- 41:41remains of the body and she says the famous lines, oh Allah,
- 41:46except for most this sacrifice, you know, when she looks down,
- 41:51she sees what she remembers to be the remains of Abu Abdullah.
- 41:56So for me, that notion of, say, the Zainab is without a doubt,
- 42:05in my opinion, the greatest moment that showcases Hussein.
- 42:10The Zainab was what she stood for and her character, how she
- 42:15was brought up and how she knew what lies ahead.
- 42:19And from that moment, before she had a bus, she had Hussein, but
- 42:25from that moment, she was alone. She was taking the role of
- 42:30Abafat Al Abbas, taking the role of Imam Al Hussein.
- 42:32She was a protector and a guide for that which remained from Al,
- 42:37albeit at that moment. So for me, that was the greatest
- 42:45position that she was in and the most difficult at the same time.
- 42:50From then on, how much should she go through?
- 42:53You know, we have the tradition that says, you know, Levkian
- 43:00alekhi, bedele, dumoydema, Imam sahab Zaman.
- 43:04So in one of the scholars he sees Imam Zaman in the dream.
- 43:08He says, Imam, you know, you say about the tragedy of Kabbalah
- 43:13that you cry tears of blood. And he asks him, who do you cry
- 43:18out for? Do you cry for Hussein?
- 43:23If it was for Hussein, he would cry if he saw what I saw.
- 43:26Was it for Abbas? If Abbas saw what I saw, he
- 43:30would also cry with me. Ali Akbar, Ghassim, all of them
- 43:36would cry. Says why didn't you cry tears,
- 43:39blood. This is for my auntie's egg.
- 43:43What did she go through? What did she see?
- 43:47That which we know of and what that which we do not know of?
- 43:50And how did she do what she did? Being paraded from one city to
- 43:54another? How did she handle Rukaya?
- 43:58You know, and I think that I end the tragedy of saying with
- 44:03Rukaya because you know, the the moment when you see, you know, a
- 44:08child crying and you want to give her something and and they
- 44:11bring her the head of her father.
- 44:13You know, a four year old, you bring the head of a father to a
- 44:16four year old. And all of a sudden, from her
- 44:19crying, crying, crying, she become silent.
- 44:22You know, at the moment Zainab's thinking, you know, like, oh,
- 44:24she knows she's, she's, she's asleep.
- 44:26Finally she got some rest. We've been thrown from one city
- 44:29to another. You know, this Ajad would say,
- 44:33my aunt, you remove her. May Allah increase your reward.
- 44:38Allah, Allah kill edge. Why?
- 44:40Who announced Ajad? We've lost so many people.
- 44:43He says my sister Rukaya has returned.
- 44:46But you know what the tragedy is?
- 44:48She took Rukaya and she tried to take care of everywhere to get
- 44:52washed. No one would wash Lokaya.
- 44:55You know, she's asking why. Why is no one washing her?
- 44:59They would say that she has a disease because every time they
- 45:04try to wash her, they see her body like, no, she's filled with
- 45:07disease. And Zainab would say to her,
- 45:10this is not a disease. This is the bruises from the
- 45:13whips, from the Spears, from the sword tips, from being walking
- 45:20on the hot desert sand. Such was what Zainab went
- 45:24through, what she had to see endure when she went back to
- 45:29Karbala and Arvain. What did she have to say towards
- 45:32Abbas? What did she say to Imam Al
- 45:34Hussain when she returned? And Allah, when I lay here at
- 45:41John, the tragedy of Zainab, you never, you never listen or hear
- 45:47the name of Zainab without your heart being in a state of
- 45:52mourning. You can't Zainab from the day
- 45:57she was born four years of age till the moment that Allah took
- 46:02her life constantly. She saw so much say it.
- 46:06Constantly. Went through so much and from a
- 46:10young age, as you knew to say, like from the death of her
- 46:13grandfather of Sol Allah, the attack on the House of her
- 46:16mother Fatima and Miral Mumini and her father Hassan and
- 46:20Mushdabad, Imam Hussain. And then beyond the Sham, sham,
- 46:23Sham, we hit, I don't know any Karbala.
- 46:28There's not something easy. And we cry.
- 46:30We remember these these moments and we try to relive or try to
- 46:34imagine on picture what her eyes saw.
- 46:37But Zainab saw something and I should never see I who sees
- 46:41their brother's head on the spear.
- 46:43You see, as you know, we always say a Salaam Ala Sheikh and
- 46:46hafi, which is Miss Salib. We had the tari.
- 46:49This is not this is not simple words to imagine.
- 46:53And just so that we say it's like.
- 46:56On top of all the tragedy that hardship she goes through, she's
- 47:00walking with the head of her brother in front of as much as
- 47:07as much as we. We yearn to be known as
- 47:11Hosseini. We must be yearn yearn to be
- 47:14known as zainabi. Everything we strive for in this
- 47:18world, we see, she embodies. She embodies.
- 47:22We see the oppression, the genocide, we see, we see
- 47:26day-to-day violations of goodness and you know, the
- 47:30violations of sanctity of human life.
- 47:33Everything is found in the way she manifested justice.
- 47:40Truly the, the the matter we call that we yearn for is the
- 47:45Zainabi call that we mourn, the Husseini call that we mourn.
- 47:50They are one in the same. They are one in the same.
- 47:53The story of of say the Zainab is, is so, is so important to
- 47:59us. We have to adopt it as our
- 48:00identity and Inshallah we will be amongst those who she will
- 48:05give her Shiva to her intercession for Inshallah.
- 48:09Say it may last month. I'll always give you more
- 48:11opportunity, mortal field to continue the vicar of Abdullah
- 48:15and continue the Massiva of say the Zainab Salam Alayhi Alayhah
- 48:19and Shah Allah so that you have the opportunity to do this until
- 48:24the last breaths, Inshallah of your life and and Inshallah to
- 48:28be given all of the intercession in Dunya and Akhra on the other
- 48:33Beetlehem Salam, your, your, your, your lips, your tongue,
- 48:37your efforts, your steps that you take in Hidma as a teacher,
- 48:42as a speaker, as a scholar. These are not things that we
- 48:47should take for granted. We owe you a lot as recipients
- 48:50of your wisdom and knowledge, and we ask a lot to always give
- 48:53you more and to allow you to share more.
- 48:54We are. Everything to eliminate and
- 48:56indeed Zainab is not just the people look at her to be a guide
- 49:01just for woman but I don't think any man can do that which Zainab
- 49:06did. So she's a role model for each
- 49:09and every individual. Like you stated that calls
- 49:11himself a hosseini, we should now call ourselves Zainab.
- 49:14He's in the same light. So inshallah we do owe them
- 49:17everything. What we have now, the Adhan
- 49:20religion, everything is because Zainab.
- 49:24Well firstly it's because Imam Hussein sacrificed himself.
- 49:27It's because Zainab protected the message afterwards and
- 49:30showcased why ABBA Abdullah died on the 10th of Muharram.
- 49:36So I said, I know we're coming out towards the end of the of
- 49:42the episode and I just want this to be like a reminder to our
- 49:46listeners, our views and to myself.
- 49:50We asked a question last week, he and Ahmed, we said like why
- 49:53did Imam and Hussain go on this God-given mission, on embarking
- 49:58on this journey towards Goofa Ningapa Karvala?
- 50:02But I just want to hear it from you saying that the words he
- 50:05said of why he left, why he embarked on this journey, the
- 50:09Arabic lines and that the translation so that the
- 50:11listeners can hear it sharp. This was when he was before he
- 50:17left. Yes, because it's such an
- 50:22important idea. If there's something to learn
- 50:25from Karbala, from the 10 nights we've been commemorating and the
- 50:28Maginas we've been attending and the relationship but connection
- 50:31we're trying to build our imam, we need to know why.
- 50:35A. 100% a hundred. Percent because you said these
- 50:37words and it makes you on the side.
- 50:38A lot of this is sorry said to cut you off, but while said
- 50:41above looking, yeah, a lot of this I believe said.
- 50:44Correct me if I'm wrong. I think the sage is also going
- 50:47to come to a lot of this in his forthcoming nights, his maginis.
- 50:50I've got a sneak peek of his list.
- 50:52OK, which is really cool. But I haven't had start.
- 50:55I highly well I don't know, but I highly recommend shall
- 50:58everyone listens to Sid Abdullah's fascinating lectures.
- 51:01We have heard what 4 now and tonight's lecture which which
- 51:06was absolutely amazing on Salah was was fascinating.
- 51:11But the cause of the Imam and some of the letters which the
- 51:16Imam wrote before and even in Karbala, I believe said
- 51:20Abdullah's going to talk about in some of his forthcoming
- 51:22nights. I think everyone at the
- 51:24Charlotte Holmes should should make an effort to listen to.
- 51:27So the lines Bismillah Rahman Rahim when Elam Akhrijo Aishiran
- 51:33Willa Bataran willa Mufsidan Willa Valima when Namaharajah ET
- 51:39label najah Wasalah E omati Jaiti Muhammad Uridu and
- 51:45admirable Maroof Wahenha Anil Munkar.
- 51:49So he says. I did not rise up for the cause
- 51:51of wickedness, amusement, corruption or oppression, but I
- 51:55rose up to reform the Muslim community of my grandfather.
- 51:59I want to promote good and forbid evil.
- 52:04So. So in a nutshell, nutshell
- 52:07Islam. Anytime you see Islam is going
- 52:12down, you remember that ABBA Abdullah gave us the principles
- 52:16to rise up again. That's why whenever you see
- 52:19oppression around the world and what's happening, the 1st to
- 52:22rise are those that have ABBA Abdullah teaching them the
- 52:26principles. And that's why you see on the
- 52:28forefronts, it's the lovers of Ali, the lovers of Fatima, the
- 52:32lovers of Hussain and Zainab are the 1st to defend against
- 52:35oppression because they have these principles of ABBA
- 52:39Abdullah established. This wasn't from a letter that
- 52:42he wrote to his brother telling him exactly why he's going upon
- 52:46this particular movement. And he relayed it back on to us
- 52:49to see that this is exactly why he rose.
- 52:53This is why he began his movements.
- 52:55This is his principles that he stands by.
- 53:00And that's the things that we need to learn and hold onto and
- 53:02apply to our lives, Inshallah. It's been an amazing episode.
- 53:09It's been a beautiful. Episode.
- 53:10I I felt like I truly connected and understood the daughter of
- 53:15Amir and Romanian better than I did an hour ago.
- 53:18So thanks to you and. Honestly saying that you, for
- 53:24those listening and watching, say is a very good friend of the
- 53:26podcast, but of the podcast, you're like a brother to us and
- 53:30we learn from you and we see the sincerity and the purity and the
- 53:33service of the work that you do. And Inshallah gives you more to
- 53:35fear. There are very few.
- 53:37There are very, very, very few people like you, said Abdullah.
- 53:40You honour me. And and everyone at home needs
- 53:43to know what a man Marshall, why you are.
- 53:46Honour me. You are.
- 53:47You are such an inspiration to all of us.
- 53:49But I'll always give you more inshallah and always allow us to
- 53:51be close to you so we can continue to learn from you as
- 53:55well. Well, I'm not.
- 53:56Thank you so much. Thank you so much for your kind
- 53:58words. Shala guys will be back in Shala
- 54:01next week. We will.
- 54:03We will be, if I'm not mistaken, on the day after Yomala Shore
- 54:10and after our Messiah and after our Azhar, we will be reflecting
- 54:18on the tragedy of Karbala and talking about what we've learned
- 54:22in these nights, these ten nights from Hadram.
- 54:26And we ask you in these blessed nights to Please remember us in
- 54:29the hour. Please remind us how we can
- 54:33improve as well as if you have the opportunity.
- 54:36But most importantly, make the most of these nights.
- 54:39Shed your tears, beat your chest, be unapologetic in your
- 54:44Azhar and in your your morning for Abdullah Hosea le Salaam and
- 54:50remind yourselves that this is our identity and that we connect
- 54:55to Alas Pandala through this. And in sha Allah, we will
- 54:58continue our goal to continue talking about this in the coming
- 55:02weeks. We'll be back next week, sha
- 55:04Allah, and we'll see you soon, Salaam alaikum.
