- 0:54SPEAKER_1: I want to say good evening to our president.
- 0:56SPEAKER_1: How are you, Pastor Green?
- 0:58SPEAKER_2: I'm doing well.
- 1:00SPEAKER_2: Good to be with you on this last Wednesday, the end of September.
- 1:04SPEAKER_2: October is here.
- 1:06SPEAKER_2: Three more months and this year is over.
- 1:08SPEAKER_1: Mr. President, can you go ahead and open us up in prayer?
- 1:11SPEAKER_1: We're going to start talking about where we are here at the last of September.
- 1:18SPEAKER_1: But please go ahead and bless us with the prayer.
- 1:22SPEAKER_2: Eternal God, our Father, we come before you as humble as we are.
- 1:25SPEAKER_2: We thank you for allowing us to see this day.
- 1:28SPEAKER_2: Thank you, Lord God, for bringing us through this month and the third quarter of 2026.
- 1:34SPEAKER_2: And we continue to pray for our national leaders, our state leaders, our local leaders as well.
- 1:39SPEAKER_2: We pray for our communities as a whole.
- 1:41SPEAKER_2: We pray, Lord God, that your peace will prevail where people are sowing a lot of confusion.
- 1:46SPEAKER_2: In Jesus' name, amen.
- 1:48SPEAKER_1: Amen.
- 1:49SPEAKER_1: Thank you, Mr. President.
- 1:50SPEAKER_1: And if you're listening and you would like to be part of the conversation,
- 1:54SPEAKER_1: you can call in to the radio station.
- 1:56SPEAKER_1: And that phone number is 317-480-1310.
- 2:02SPEAKER_1: Once again, 317-480-1310 is the phone number.
- 2:08SPEAKER_1: You can call into the studio and our engineer is there waiting your phone calls.
- 2:13SPEAKER_1: Or you can also comment on our Facebook page, The Concerned Clergy of Indianapolis.
- 2:18SPEAKER_1: You can do that also.
- 2:20SPEAKER_1: Well, here we are at the end of September,
- 2:22SPEAKER_1: Mr. President, and Monday is the last day for voter registration here in Indiana.
- 2:30SPEAKER_1: And Tuesday will be the first day for early voting.
- 2:36SPEAKER_1: We're getting down to crunch time.
- 2:39SPEAKER_1: Folks, really...
- 2:42SPEAKER_1: I'm not sure a lot of folks can take the chance of even waiting till election day
- 2:48SPEAKER_1: to vote or even try to do it by mail-in voting,
- 2:51SPEAKER_1: but they have to have a strategy, whatever that is.
- 2:55SPEAKER_2: Everybody needs a plan.
- 2:57SPEAKER_2: We don't know what's going to happen between now and the election day,
- 3:03SPEAKER_2: but so we need to have a clear, connected, intentional plan to vote.
- 3:10SPEAKER_2: We are not wait to the last minute if you don't have to,
- 3:13SPEAKER_2: unless you know you're going to be able to get out rain,
- 3:16SPEAKER_2: snow or shine on Election Day.
- 3:20SPEAKER_2: But then you want to be committed to doing that because everybody needs a plan.
- 3:25SPEAKER_1: And let's keep in mind, let's be real as we keep in mind that our voter rights are under attack.
- 3:34SPEAKER_1: I mean, There has been so much,
- 3:37SPEAKER_1: you know,
- 3:38SPEAKER_1: if we can just reflect on what's happened here over President Trump's second term.
- 3:44SPEAKER_1: I mean, the Supreme Court has pretty much gutted,
- 3:47SPEAKER_1: you know,
- 3:47SPEAKER_1: protection and civil right protection for voters when it comes to gerrymandering
- 3:55SPEAKER_1: that or, you know, especially taking the vote.
- 4:01SPEAKER_1: Rights from African-Americans and other minority groups.
- 4:06SPEAKER_1: They've been able to chop them up.
- 4:10SPEAKER_1: There's threats of what may happen on Election Day.
- 4:15SPEAKER_1: We have executive orders that say we want the U.S.
- 4:20SPEAKER_1: Postal Service to go through our mail and determine who gets mail-in ballots.
- 4:27SPEAKER_1: There's so much that we have to be concerned about right now.
- 4:31SPEAKER_1: That's why it's very important that folks have a plan and not wait till
- 4:35SPEAKER_1: the last minute, but be determined to be part of the process.
- 4:40SPEAKER_2: You have to be.
- 4:41SPEAKER_2: I mean,
- 4:41SPEAKER_2: one of the things I just heard last week is it's a real good possibility that
- 4:45SPEAKER_2: a president's going to declare martial law and related to elections in the month
- 4:52SPEAKER_2: of October here, about halfway through.
- 4:55SPEAKER_2: And so all those things will impact one's ability And in terms of just
- 5:01SPEAKER_2: the whole process,
- 5:03SPEAKER_2: and given that the Supreme Court has been extremely leaning his direction in some
- 5:09SPEAKER_2: of these ways, one has to operate as though you don't know what's going to happen.
- 5:17SPEAKER_1: Well, I think one thing we can be assured of,
- 5:20SPEAKER_1: and Brother Jarelli and you're right, is taking us back in time.
- 5:26SPEAKER_1: Modern day slavery is what he put in our Facebook chat.
- 5:30SPEAKER_1: And for a lot of folks, that's what they feel.
- 5:33SPEAKER_1: They feel like we're going back in time,
- 5:35SPEAKER_1: not just civil rights era in the 60s, but even further back.
- 5:42SPEAKER_1: In which our freedoms are being under attack as well.
- 5:46SPEAKER_1: And part of that freedom is just being able to vote.
- 5:52SPEAKER_1: Right now, it's important that folks double check their voter status.
- 6:00SPEAKER_1: You're voting here in Indiana.
- 6:02SPEAKER_1: Make sure you go to the Indiana Voters Portal.
- 6:07SPEAKER_1: You can do that.
- 6:08SPEAKER_1: You can check your registration, Mr. President.
- 6:12SPEAKER_1: Once again, you can do this.
- 6:15SPEAKER_1: You can make changes.
- 6:17SPEAKER_1: You can update your voter registration.
- 6:21SPEAKER_1: You can register all the way up to noon on Monday.
- 6:26SPEAKER_2: And those things need to be taken care of.
- 6:28SPEAKER_2: Don't take them for granted.
- 6:29SPEAKER_2: Wait until Election Day.
- 6:31SPEAKER_2: Busting at somebody probably won't change your ability to go vote.
- 6:37SPEAKER_2: Got every I,
- 6:38SPEAKER_2: cross every T right now,
- 6:40SPEAKER_2: all the way through the election process because our voting rights,
- 6:46SPEAKER_2: our democracy is at stake as we go and head for the first November of this year.
- 6:54SPEAKER_2: It is critical that we go vote because our democracy,
- 6:58SPEAKER_2: that's not just some word somebody spouting, it is truly under attack.
- 7:03SPEAKER_2: We see it under attack here, especially in Indiana.
- 7:08SPEAKER_2: Our voting numbers, our Secretary of State already gave it to the federal government.
- 7:12SPEAKER_2: So we are under a major serious attack and we need to function like it.
- 7:21SPEAKER_2: We need to go vote and clearly send a message.
- 7:26SPEAKER_1: Mr. President,
- 7:27SPEAKER_1: I'm going to bring up for us If you're watching on Facebook or you happen
- 7:32SPEAKER_1: to be looking at our substack, here is how you can check your voter status.
- 7:37SPEAKER_1: You can just go to the indiana.gov voter portal.
- 7:42SPEAKER_1: And it tells us,
- 7:43SPEAKER_1: you know,
- 7:43SPEAKER_1: right at the top there here in Indiana,
- 7:45SPEAKER_1: we have just almost,
- 7:48SPEAKER_1: I'll say,
- 7:48SPEAKER_1: a little bit under 5 million voters,
- 7:53SPEAKER_1: 4,756,000 pretty much is how many voters we have here in the state.
- 8:02SPEAKER_1: It's there where you can go ahead and register.
- 8:06SPEAKER_1: You can also check your voting status.
- 8:09SPEAKER_1: You can vote by mail and you can also find your voting locations.
- 8:15SPEAKER_1: What also is good about the site is you can actually go.
- 8:21SPEAKER_1: And once again, if you're with us on Facebook, I'm showing a ballot for my particular precinct.
- 8:27SPEAKER_1: But you can go on and you can see who the candidates are that are
- 8:34SPEAKER_1: in your particular district or precinct, which is how they define it.
- 8:39SPEAKER_1: And there's going to be some key races that we need to understand who's running
- 8:45SPEAKER_1: and what they stand for.
- 8:47SPEAKER_1: The main one, Mr. President, is right there at the top, the Secretary of State race.
- 8:52SPEAKER_1: We got four folks.
- 8:55SPEAKER_1: And for me, it's kind of a toss up.
- 9:00SPEAKER_2: You think the race is going to be really close, Reverend Alexander?
- 9:03SPEAKER_1: I think when you're looking at the fact that you have Greg Ballard,
- 9:08SPEAKER_1: Max Engling and Beau Bayh, I think it can be very surprising who comes out of that.
- 9:18SPEAKER_2: Well, I think that certainly Greg Ballard will have an impact on the race.
- 9:23SPEAKER_2: Exactly.
- 9:24SPEAKER_2: That his being in the race is not consequential to somebody in terms of outcome.
- 9:34SPEAKER_2: I would encourage everybody to kind of make it a plan to vote.
- 9:38SPEAKER_2: Make sure you go and understand who you're voting for.
- 9:44SPEAKER_2: Because,
- 9:45SPEAKER_2: you know,
- 9:47SPEAKER_2: one of the things that has shifted in terms of politics is now
- 9:51SPEAKER_2: the commercials you see on TV.
- 9:53SPEAKER_2: Nobody identifies themselves with a party.
- 9:57SPEAKER_2: So you don't even know where these people are coming from.
- 10:00SPEAKER_2: Because this is,
- 10:01SPEAKER_2: when you say television, man, it's almost become television, Reverend Alexander.
- 10:05SPEAKER_2: Unless you go look this stuff up and really vet the candidate, can they even...
- 10:13SPEAKER_2: Some of the stuff they're saying is not within their purview or job,
- 10:18SPEAKER_2: you know,
- 10:19SPEAKER_2: because the Secretary of State is not going to impact taxes, tax increases.
- 10:23SPEAKER_2: They're not the governor.
- 10:25SPEAKER_2: You know,
- 10:26SPEAKER_2: so you need to vet all these candidates and understand who is where and what,
- 10:31SPEAKER_2: you know, what party they're with, what they stand for, et cetera.
- 10:37SPEAKER_2: Because you can't get there off a television commercial now or a radio commercial.
- 10:42SPEAKER_2: I'm sure you'll be hearing a little bit closer to the election because they don't say that.
- 10:46SPEAKER_2: They just here's my name and everybody's great and saying what they think voters want to hear.
- 10:54SPEAKER_2: And we need to be clear about where they're coming from and who their allegiance really is to.
- 11:00SPEAKER_2: For everybody that's running.
- 11:02SPEAKER_1: And that's going to be a challenge for a lot of folks.
- 11:05SPEAKER_1: I mean, historically, a lot of folks didn't really vet candidates.
- 11:09SPEAKER_1: They would either just vote straight ticket,
- 11:11SPEAKER_1: you know,
- 11:12SPEAKER_1: one way or the other or go with,
- 11:15SPEAKER_1: I've seen,
- 11:16SPEAKER_1: you know,
- 11:17SPEAKER_1: this person sign every day I go to work or,
- 11:21SPEAKER_1: you know,
- 11:21SPEAKER_1: they seem,
- 11:23SPEAKER_1: you know,
- 11:23SPEAKER_1: to have the,
- 11:26SPEAKER_1: you know, nicest smile, but they're not really looking at What they're standing for.
- 11:32SPEAKER_1: They're not going to their websites.
- 11:35SPEAKER_1: They're not looking at some of the interviews or debates or any of that.
- 11:40SPEAKER_1: Those are things that you need to be, I'll say, critically attentive to.
- 11:47SPEAKER_2: Yeah, I mean,
- 11:48SPEAKER_2: because it really,
- 11:49SPEAKER_2: you know,
- 11:50SPEAKER_2: if we go to vote and then vote the wrong person in,
- 11:54SPEAKER_2: then that will not help with our democracy.
- 11:56SPEAKER_2: We have to understand that.
- 11:58SPEAKER_2: Who is going to be protecting voting rights?
- 12:02SPEAKER_2: Who's going to be standing up for the people, standing up for our communities, etc.
- 12:07SPEAKER_2: ?
- 12:07SPEAKER_2: That's critical.
- 12:09SPEAKER_2: And you won't know that necessarily based on just a TV commercial
- 12:13SPEAKER_2: because everybody's going to say that.
- 12:17SPEAKER_2: And then you've got some in some cases, well, the party ain't even for that.
- 12:21SPEAKER_2: So they ain't really going to do that because the party ain't even going that direction.
- 12:24SPEAKER_2: So you got to make sure you understand where you are, who you're voting for, etc.
- 12:30SPEAKER_2: Who's like-minded with you?
- 12:32SPEAKER_2: Who is going to be beneficial to you in terms of standing up for things
- 12:39SPEAKER_2: that would help benefit your family and know
- 12:43SPEAKER_2: that is this even something they can do?
- 12:46SPEAKER_2: I mean, the Secretary of State does not decide gas prices, for example.
- 12:51SPEAKER_2: For example, so the things within that purview of that, what can they do?
- 12:56SPEAKER_2: What are they saying?
- 12:56SPEAKER_2: That's what really is the matter.
- 12:59SPEAKER_2: You know, it can't just be, I've seen this sign.
- 13:02SPEAKER_2: I like it because of its colors and that type of stuff.
- 13:05SPEAKER_2: We've got to get past that written magazine because this is critical right now.
- 13:09SPEAKER_2: And, you know, some of these people, you know, they got a lot of money.
- 13:12SPEAKER_2: So, Commercials and signs, etc.
- 13:16SPEAKER_2: They will have plenty of them because they have plenty of money.
- 13:19SPEAKER_2: And so you don't want to make the decision on that because,
- 13:22SPEAKER_2: you know,
- 13:23SPEAKER_2: there's billionaires behind some of these movements and things
- 13:27SPEAKER_2: that are clearly happening right now, whether it's the AI discussion, etc.
- 13:32SPEAKER_2: It's all driven by people with major money.
- 13:36SPEAKER_2: And that's how we end up in certain situations.
- 13:39SPEAKER_2: Those people want certain people in place.
- 13:42SPEAKER_2: If you think about this,
- 13:43SPEAKER_2: like the Secretary of State's race,
- 13:45SPEAKER_2: why it's so critical, you think about it this way.
- 13:48SPEAKER_2: The president is running in 2028.
- 13:51SPEAKER_2: He wants secretaries of state to line up on him.
- 13:55SPEAKER_2: As he did with Georgia,
- 13:57SPEAKER_2: when he said, hey,
- 13:58SPEAKER_2: go find me some votes, that Secretary of State person is the one he's talking to.
- 14:03SPEAKER_2: Go find me some votes.
- 14:04SPEAKER_2: He will want it to turn out a certain way.
- 14:07SPEAKER_2: So therefore,
- 14:08SPEAKER_2: the Republican Party President Trump in particular will care about who is
- 14:14SPEAKER_2: the secretary state of Indiana and all down the line.
- 14:18SPEAKER_2: We as voters must say, now, is that what we want?
- 14:22SPEAKER_2: A president, they can make a phone call and say, you know, find me these votes.
- 14:27SPEAKER_2: Or do we want somebody who's going to say,
- 14:29SPEAKER_2: here's where the Hoosiers are and here's what our democracy is.
- 14:33SPEAKER_2: And I'm not going to go find you.
- 14:35SPEAKER_2: You know, 600 votes or a thousand votes or whatever because it's unethical and it's immoral.
- 14:41SPEAKER_2: So those are types of things we really need to be addressing.
- 14:44SPEAKER_2: And understand it is a while it doesn't may not sound to some as a key race.
- 14:50SPEAKER_2: This is a very key race.
- 14:51SPEAKER_2: It's a very important race because the president cares about who is the secretary
- 14:55SPEAKER_2: of state in all of these states because that's the election piece.
- 14:59SPEAKER_2: That's the person controlling the election piece.
- 15:02SPEAKER_2: That's the person in For the 2028 election who might be deciding who's getting
- 15:06SPEAKER_2: a vote and who's not.
- 15:07SPEAKER_2: And so he is paying attention and which means the top of that party is paying attention.
- 15:14SPEAKER_2: And therefore, you see money invested and everything else going on.
- 15:18SPEAKER_2: And it'll probably be a bloodbath between now and that first Tuesday in November.
- 15:25SPEAKER_2: And that's why.
- 15:28SPEAKER_1: Well, we certainly need to understand that the Secretary of State has a huge role
- 15:35SPEAKER_1: when it comes to voting, as you just outlined.
- 15:39SPEAKER_1: And certifying the elections because that's something,
- 15:43SPEAKER_1: you know,
- 15:44SPEAKER_1: another piece of what they tried to do in the past,
- 15:48SPEAKER_1: you know,
- 15:48SPEAKER_1: to have fake electors, if you will, and those that certify the local elections.
- 15:54SPEAKER_1: So there's a lot of that in play because you really want someone.
- 15:59SPEAKER_1: That's independent and is not going to be sold out,
- 16:03SPEAKER_1: you know,
- 16:04SPEAKER_1: to a party and accept,
- 16:07SPEAKER_1: you know,
- 16:08SPEAKER_1: someone saying you're going to do our bidding for us and make sure
- 16:13SPEAKER_1: that we can sway this election one way or another.
- 16:17SPEAKER_1: Because what else is on the table?
- 16:22SPEAKER_1: Seizing machines.
- 16:29SPEAKER_1: That was on the table for the previous Trump administration,
- 16:34SPEAKER_1: was seizing machines right after the election.
- 16:38SPEAKER_1: Right now, they've already done it, this administration in Georgia.
- 16:45SPEAKER_1: What's going to stop them now from saying,
- 16:46SPEAKER_1: we're not going to wait until the ballots are counted?
- 16:50SPEAKER_1: What's going to stop them from going in and just taking them and saying,
- 16:55SPEAKER_1: we're halting the process.
- 16:57SPEAKER_1: You're not counting any more mail-in ballots.
- 17:00SPEAKER_1: We've got the Republican League.
- 17:02SPEAKER_1: We're shutting it down right now.
- 17:05SPEAKER_1: That's a possibility.
- 17:07SPEAKER_2: That is a possibility, Reverend Alexander.
- 17:10SPEAKER_2: That's why we have to be intentional.
- 17:11SPEAKER_2: That's why we have to have a plan.
- 17:13SPEAKER_2: We have to go vote.
- 17:14SPEAKER_2: We've got to be on purpose and may have to advocate for your vote to be counted
- 17:19SPEAKER_2: when this is all over.
- 17:21SPEAKER_1: Well, and they've already,
- 17:24SPEAKER_1: last week,
- 17:26SPEAKER_1: Todd Blanche already said that he was going to plan to have ICE agents
- 17:33SPEAKER_1: at polling locations.
- 17:34SPEAKER_2: Exactly.
- 17:36SPEAKER_1: So guess what?
- 17:37SPEAKER_1: If they're there,
- 17:39SPEAKER_1: you know, everybody's really concerned about they're there to stop people to vote.
- 17:44SPEAKER_1: Well, they are.
- 17:45SPEAKER_1: They're there to do that.
- 17:47SPEAKER_1: They're there to intimidate.
- 17:49SPEAKER_1: But guess what?
- 17:50SPEAKER_1: They're also there.
- 17:51SPEAKER_1: They can get an order, say, hey, go take the machines out right now.
- 17:55SPEAKER_1: 601, Pike Township.
- 17:59SPEAKER_2: Oh, without a doubt.
- 18:00SPEAKER_2: And they know the fear of intimidation.
- 18:02SPEAKER_2: I mean, one of the keys for ultimately,
- 18:07SPEAKER_2: especially Indiana, is turnout, in particular, Marion County.
- 18:10SPEAKER_2: You know, turnout has been abysmal.
- 18:13SPEAKER_2: If somebody's going to win a statewide race, they're going to have to win Marion County.
- 18:18SPEAKER_2: You know, 60-65% of Marion County voters have to vote in order for that to take place.
- 18:25SPEAKER_2: And if you have ICE agents and other people,
- 18:27SPEAKER_2: how many people will say, I ain't fooling with that.
- 18:30SPEAKER_2: I ain't going up, because all they see is law enforcement.
- 18:33SPEAKER_2: Exactly.
- 18:33SPEAKER_2: It's not that they see necessarily as ICE.
- 18:35SPEAKER_2: They just see law enforcement.
- 18:37SPEAKER_2: And they will be like,
- 18:39SPEAKER_2: especially in the minority community, say, I'm not going up there fooling with that.
- 18:42SPEAKER_2: And those people,
- 18:43SPEAKER_2: people saying something to me and this, that,
- 18:45SPEAKER_2: and the other,
- 18:46SPEAKER_2: they will not They will be less or more hesitant to not engage in the process,
- 18:54SPEAKER_2: which then hurts turnout.
- 18:55SPEAKER_2: And if turnout doesn't happen, then we're impacted in the election.
- 19:01SPEAKER_2: Because in a statewide race, you need turnout.
- 19:04SPEAKER_2: You need Hoosiers to show up to vote.
- 19:09SPEAKER_2: And particularly in Marion County, our numbers have been woefully low.
- 19:14SPEAKER_2: And you just can't win.
- 19:15SPEAKER_2: I mean, I've heard numerous candidates.
- 19:17SPEAKER_2: Well, I went visiting 92 counties.
- 19:19SPEAKER_2: That's great.
- 19:20SPEAKER_2: You visited 92 counties.
- 19:22SPEAKER_2: But in the end,
- 19:22SPEAKER_2: if you're winning a statewide race,
- 19:25SPEAKER_2: you better make sure that there's turnout in Marion County.
- 19:28SPEAKER_2: And it's a significant number because you're not going
- 19:30SPEAKER_2: to overcome all those rural counties that are heavily Republican.
- 19:35SPEAKER_2: And a lot of them border, you know, they border Marion County.
- 19:40SPEAKER_2: Hendricks County is extremely Republican.
- 19:46SPEAKER_2: Let's see how
- 19:47SPEAKER_1: they vote.
- 19:47SPEAKER_2: They're going to go vote, right?
- 19:49SPEAKER_2: And a lot of them are going to go vote.
- 19:50SPEAKER_2: And so if we don't have significant numbers turn out to vote, we end up short.
- 19:59SPEAKER_2: And there's a lot of people.
- 20:01SPEAKER_2: Tiffany Stoner was a Democrat who ran for state rep a couple years ago and lost
- 20:07SPEAKER_2: about a few hundred votes.
- 20:09SPEAKER_2: Turnout.
- 20:10SPEAKER_2: If she had gotten turnout, she would have been state rep.
- 20:15SPEAKER_2: It's not getting the turnout.
- 20:18SPEAKER_2: In a lot of cases,
- 20:20SPEAKER_2: especially Democrats,
- 20:21SPEAKER_2: they say, well, they ain't going to win no way, so I ain't worried about going.
- 20:25SPEAKER_2: And they live in Hendricks County or wherever,
- 20:28SPEAKER_2: but they see all these signs around their neighbors,
- 20:31SPEAKER_2: everybody's a Republican,
- 20:32SPEAKER_2: so they feel like, well,
- 20:33SPEAKER_2: my one little vote ain't going to matter,
- 20:35SPEAKER_2: but you need all those little votes when you start getting into running
- 20:40SPEAKER_2: against Republican incumbents, et cetera.
- 20:43SPEAKER_2: We're going to need numbers.
- 20:46SPEAKER_2: We need turnout, and it's going to be interesting to see what that looks like November the 3rd.
- 20:53SPEAKER_2: What is turnout?
- 20:54SPEAKER_2: The core people who vote, they're going to vote.
- 20:56SPEAKER_2: I believe many of them, many of us will vote early.
- 21:00SPEAKER_2: We'll have it done.
- 21:01SPEAKER_2: We certainly definitely have a plan.
- 21:04SPEAKER_2: The question is people who have not typically voted or haven't voted consistently,
- 21:10SPEAKER_2: are they coming out?
- 21:11SPEAKER_2: It's not a presidential election.
- 21:13SPEAKER_2: But are they showing up in 2026 to go vote?
- 21:17SPEAKER_2: That's the magical question.
- 21:20SPEAKER_2: I think they're frustrated about gas prices and food prices and a number of things.
- 21:25SPEAKER_2: I don't think they believe we should be in a war over in Iraq.
- 21:30SPEAKER_2: But for Iran, will they go vote?
- 21:37SPEAKER_2: That's the question.
- 21:39SPEAKER_1: Well, that's certainly what we want to encourage you to do.
- 21:43SPEAKER_1: To go vote.
- 21:46SPEAKER_1: We're going to take our first break of the hour.
- 21:48SPEAKER_1: When we come back, we invite you to be part of the conversation.
- 21:51SPEAKER_1: And you can call into the radio station at numbers 317-480-1310.
- 21:55SPEAKER_1: You're listening to the Concerned Clergy Radio Show
- 21:58SPEAKER_1: on Praise AM 1310 95.1 FM Indies Inspiration Station.
- 22:07SPEAKER_1: Well, welcome back to the program.
- 22:09SPEAKER_1: If you would like to be part of the program, you can call in to the radio station.
- 22:14SPEAKER_1: And their phone number is 317-480-1310.
- 22:17SPEAKER_1: Or you can also comment on our Facebook page.
- 22:21SPEAKER_1: And that's the Concerned Clergy of Indianapolis.
- 22:24SPEAKER_1: We're just trying to encourage you to vote on tonight and trying to make sure
- 22:29SPEAKER_1: that you have the tools and the resources to make sure that you are registered and
- 22:36SPEAKER_1: If you need to make changes to your voter registration, how you can do that.
- 22:41SPEAKER_1: And that's by going to the voter portal on the indiana.gov website.
- 22:48SPEAKER_1: So we've been talking about that on tonight.
- 22:51SPEAKER_1: Once again, you can call in 317-480-1310.
- 22:56SPEAKER_1: We've got some comments rolling on our Facebook page there.
- 23:02SPEAKER_1: Pete Hegseth.
- 23:03SPEAKER_1: He's talking about having Elon Musk involved in the midterms.
- 23:07SPEAKER_1: That is a fact.
- 23:09SPEAKER_1: They are utilizing, they're going to use him once again.
- 23:13SPEAKER_1: If you notice,
- 23:13SPEAKER_1: he was at the big powwow that they had yesterday,
- 23:17SPEAKER_1: I think it was,
- 23:17SPEAKER_1: Mr. President, when they brought in all the techs, CEOs and everyone.
- 23:23SPEAKER_1: He was right there with them.
- 23:25SPEAKER_1: However, that being said, I agree.
- 23:30SPEAKER_1: Races are Extremely close in some places you would not expect.
- 23:36SPEAKER_1: Mr. President, here's where we're at.
- 23:38SPEAKER_2: Yeah.
- 23:39SPEAKER_2: Elon Musk put in $100 million for the primary.
- 23:43SPEAKER_2: He's given candidates across the country.
- 23:46SPEAKER_2: He committed $100 million to help people, Republicans, to be victorious in the primaries.
- 23:56SPEAKER_2: So that's not your change.
- 23:58SPEAKER_2: So you know that With $100 million, you can do a lot of mailings and other things.
- 24:05SPEAKER_2: So you know that in these states,
- 24:07SPEAKER_2: Florida, Texas,
- 24:08SPEAKER_2: Georgia, man,
- 24:09SPEAKER_2: there's going to be a lot of commercials everywhere,
- 24:12SPEAKER_2: et cetera, because they're going to throw money behind that stuff.
- 24:16SPEAKER_2: And that's why it's important that we think about the Secretary of State's race from
- 24:22SPEAKER_2: a holistic picture,
- 24:23SPEAKER_2: knowing, okay,
- 24:25SPEAKER_2: if the president wants these positions,
- 24:27SPEAKER_2: That's where he might send some money to an individual to help them get across
- 24:32SPEAKER_2: the finish line.
- 24:34SPEAKER_2: So when you've got one person,
- 24:36SPEAKER_2: in this case,
- 24:36SPEAKER_2: Elon Musk,
- 24:37SPEAKER_2: who has already committed $100 million,
- 24:42SPEAKER_2: there's a lot of money floating around in elections when you're on that side of
- 24:48SPEAKER_2: the fence.
- 24:50SPEAKER_1: So you also have an opportunity if you go to the Indiana voter portal,
- 24:55SPEAKER_1: you'll see there that you'll be voting and this is everyone will be voting for
- 25:00SPEAKER_1: a secretary of state.
- 25:02SPEAKER_1: You're a state comptroller,
- 25:04SPEAKER_1: you're a treasurer,
- 25:06SPEAKER_1: and then you'll have your U.S.
- 25:08SPEAKER_1: representative in your area, as well as, such as up here, District 29.
- 25:16SPEAKER_1: District 29 could be a very interesting race, Mr. President.
- 25:20SPEAKER_1: I know that's one area that you got a candidate, seems to have good backing in John Ruckelshaus.
- 25:32SPEAKER_1: Has a lot of money, at least it seems like.
- 25:35SPEAKER_1: And we're seeing is he's got some huge signs already.
- 25:38SPEAKER_1: Where are we seeing on the road?
- 25:41SPEAKER_1: I'm not sure how long they're going to stay there.
- 25:43SPEAKER_1: I would think they're legal, in my opinion, but they're out there.
- 25:48SPEAKER_2: I'm serious.
- 25:49SPEAKER_2: Well, you have to go by probably the sign laws.
- 25:54SPEAKER_2: You know,
- 25:54SPEAKER_2: unfortunately,
- 25:55SPEAKER_2: during this season, a lot of times people turn their heads to those regulations.
- 26:00SPEAKER_2: But yes, I think that certainly that's another race that will be very close.
- 26:06SPEAKER_2: And it'll come down to turnout.
- 26:07SPEAKER_2: Again, it'll come down to turnout because, you know, Ruckelshaus is the Republican.
- 26:13SPEAKER_2: Christina Moorhead is the Democrat.
- 26:16SPEAKER_2: And, you know, it's going to come down to turn out.
- 26:20SPEAKER_2: And how many people, you know, Pike and Wayne Township didn't make up the district.
- 26:27SPEAKER_2: Carmel's there in Zionsville.
- 26:29SPEAKER_2: You know, what kind of Democrats turn out in Zionsville?
- 26:32SPEAKER_2: Do they come out or do they say, well, you know, this is a predominantly Republican area.
- 26:36SPEAKER_2: I ain't going to fool with it, even though I
- 26:38SPEAKER_1: am a Democrat.
- 26:39SPEAKER_2: You know, I'll give some money to it, but necessarily don't go vote.
- 26:42SPEAKER_2: So it's all that stuff that's a part of it.
- 26:46SPEAKER_2: You hope that we get across the finish line if there's a blue way.
- 26:49SPEAKER_2: I would say this reminds me,
- 26:51SPEAKER_2: if we see a blue way,
- 26:53SPEAKER_2: you know,
- 26:54SPEAKER_2: in other areas of the country and don't see it here,
- 26:58SPEAKER_2: we ought to ask some very difficult questions.
- 27:01SPEAKER_2: So the day after this election,
- 27:03SPEAKER_2: I mean, I want to have some very similar, that Wednesday we have a show.
- 27:07SPEAKER_2: We got to have some very, very frank discussions.
- 27:11SPEAKER_2: Based on outcome.
- 27:12SPEAKER_2: Hopefully we're cheerleading and happy about what happened.
- 27:15SPEAKER_2: We saw and feel like some change is going to come.
- 27:18SPEAKER_2: We still have a fight,
- 27:19SPEAKER_2: don't get me wrong,
- 27:20SPEAKER_2: because,
- 27:21SPEAKER_2: you know,
- 27:21SPEAKER_2: our Speaker of the House is talking about perhaps not swearing in people, but,
- 27:27SPEAKER_2: you know, given all the talk and buzz around a blue wave, what does that look like?
- 27:33SPEAKER_2: And how do we get there?
- 27:35SPEAKER_2: And if it does happen, is it in Indiana?
- 27:40SPEAKER_2: Part of my concern is you see
- 27:45SPEAKER_2: the president's going to certain states,
- 27:48SPEAKER_2: Alabama,
- 27:49SPEAKER_2: Arkansas,
- 27:49SPEAKER_2: where he's normally won,
- 27:52SPEAKER_2: doesn't have any issues,
- 27:53SPEAKER_2: but now he does have an issue because there's some Democrats
- 27:57SPEAKER_2: in there that's running.
- 27:58SPEAKER_2: Well, Indiana ain't on the visit list.
- 28:00SPEAKER_2: So does that mean it's on lock for the Republicans to win again?
- 28:07SPEAKER_2: And he doesn't feel concerned.
- 28:08SPEAKER_2: What does that message mean?
- 28:10SPEAKER_2: Because it does mean he's concerned about Arkansas.
- 28:14SPEAKER_2: He's concerned about Oklahoma.
- 28:16SPEAKER_2: He's concerned about Alabama.
- 28:17SPEAKER_2: So that's on the list to go visit,
- 28:19SPEAKER_2: which are typical Republican strongholds, places he's won 30 or 40 percent.
- 28:24SPEAKER_2: But we don't see Indiana on that list.
- 28:28SPEAKER_1: Is he really concerned or is he just want to go somewhere he's liked?
- 28:33SPEAKER_1: I mean, is he just stroking his own ego?
- 28:36SPEAKER_2: Well, I know that a lot of the races there are close, though.
- 28:40SPEAKER_2: There's Democrats in those places who have significant traction.
- 28:46SPEAKER_2: They just had their convention in Texas.
- 28:49SPEAKER_2: So, you know, he's trying to, but it's a close race, as Imhotep and other people shared.
- 28:55SPEAKER_2: Because if there is a blue wave,
- 28:58SPEAKER_2: there will be some of those traditional,
- 29:01SPEAKER_2: quote-unquote,
- 29:01SPEAKER_2: Republican states that Donald Trump won, there will be significant losses.
- 29:06SPEAKER_2: If we don't have that, that's not a blue wave.
- 29:08SPEAKER_2: A blue wave is, oh,
- 29:10SPEAKER_2: we get people who won,
- 29:11SPEAKER_2: Democrats who won in Texas and in Florida and, you know, Georgia.
- 29:16SPEAKER_2: They won.
- 29:18SPEAKER_2: That's a blue wave.
- 29:20SPEAKER_2: And will Indiana be part of that blue wave where there are a number of people running?
- 29:26SPEAKER_2: You know, we have a Democrat in all these races, but do we get them across the finish line?
- 29:32SPEAKER_2: It's not enough to get them.
- 29:34SPEAKER_2: Okay, we got somebody on the ballot.
- 29:36SPEAKER_2: But can we get some victories in that?
- 29:39SPEAKER_2: I mean, J.D.
- 29:40SPEAKER_2: Ford is at a contentious race with Victoria Spartz.
- 29:45SPEAKER_2: Are the Republicans going to come in here and back Victoria Spartz?
- 29:49SPEAKER_2: Is J.D.
- 29:50SPEAKER_2: Ford going to pull off the upset?
- 29:53SPEAKER_2: If there's a blue wave, he's winning.
- 29:55SPEAKER_2: If there's a blue wave, Christina's winning.
- 29:59SPEAKER_2: Moorhead.
- 30:00SPEAKER_2: I mean, if there's a blue wave,
- 30:01SPEAKER_2: then Kerry Forestal, On the northeast side is going to win if there's a blue wave.
- 30:09SPEAKER_2: Now, if we don't have that blue wave,
- 30:11SPEAKER_2: I believe we ought to have some very serious conversations if a blue wave happens
- 30:15SPEAKER_2: in other places.
- 30:16SPEAKER_2: Like what made that successful?
- 30:19SPEAKER_2: It's not a finger point exercise,
- 30:21SPEAKER_2: but it's why were we able to do it in some states and not in others?
- 30:27SPEAKER_2: And when we look at that,
- 30:28SPEAKER_2: is Indiana up here leading the way towards there's going to be a blue wave?
- 30:33SPEAKER_2: We just, you know, based on some data, hopefully not just hoping for it, wishing for it.
- 30:39SPEAKER_2: And there's plans in place.
- 30:41SPEAKER_2: We've been executing a plan.
- 30:44SPEAKER_2: Or, you know, what happens here?
- 30:47SPEAKER_2: If there ever was a chance, anytime there ought to be a blue wave, it ought to be right now.
- 30:51SPEAKER_2: Because if you've got gas prices where they are,
- 30:55SPEAKER_2: you've got an unpopular war going on,
- 30:57SPEAKER_2: you've got grocery prices up, Childcare prices are up in limited, even access.
- 31:05SPEAKER_2: People are looking at referendums to pay more.
- 31:09SPEAKER_2: If you can't get it now, when would you get it?
- 31:13SPEAKER_2: Because this is it, Reverend Alexander.
- 31:17SPEAKER_2: If you can't get it right here, I don't know when you can get it.
- 31:21SPEAKER_2: Well, it just shows where you're at.
- 31:22SPEAKER_1: It just shows where you're at as a people.
- 31:25SPEAKER_1: I certainly agree with that.
- 31:26SPEAKER_1: But I don't think Indiana is going to be leading that blue wave.
- 31:31SPEAKER_1: But we got to go to our last commercial break.
- 31:34SPEAKER_1: Hopefully they're part of it.
- 31:35SPEAKER_1: I just don't see Indiana leading.
- 31:38SPEAKER_1: And if you'd like to be part of the conversation, you can call in.
- 31:41SPEAKER_1: That number is 317-480-1310.
- 31:44SPEAKER_1: We have a Imhotep holding.
- 31:46SPEAKER_1: We'll pick a Imhotep up when we come back from our break.
- 31:49SPEAKER_1: Once again, you can also call in 317-480-1310.
- 31:52SPEAKER_1: You're listening to the Concerned Clergy Radio Show on Praise AM 1310,
- 31:58SPEAKER_1: 95.1 FM Indies, Inspiration Station.
- 32:05SPEAKER_1: Welcome back.
- 32:06SPEAKER_1: We've been talking about voting,
- 32:08SPEAKER_1: making sure that you're registered and you know where you can vote.
- 32:12SPEAKER_1: Understanding that we are getting ready to early vote.
- 32:19SPEAKER_1: That's this coming Tuesday.
- 32:21SPEAKER_1: Once again, this coming Tuesday, you will be able to early vote.
- 32:25SPEAKER_1: Well, where can you early vote?
- 32:27SPEAKER_1: You can early vote at the city county council, or excuse me, the city county building.
- 32:31SPEAKER_1: That's beginning Tuesday.
- 32:33SPEAKER_1: And that will be open Tuesday through Friday, eight to five.
- 32:38SPEAKER_1: And then after that,
- 32:40SPEAKER_1: the following two weeks at the city county building,
- 32:43SPEAKER_1: Monday through Friday, eight to five.
- 32:48SPEAKER_1: The 24th,
- 32:49SPEAKER_1: you'll have some other satellite locations that we'll be opening and there's going
- 32:54SPEAKER_1: to be an effort in which we can gather people together in which they can march to
- 33:02SPEAKER_1: the polls on that Saturday, October the 24th.
- 33:05SPEAKER_1: We'll be sharing more information about that.
- 33:07SPEAKER_1: But if you'd like to be part of the conversation, once again, call in 317-480-1310.
- 33:12SPEAKER_1: We have a Imhotep that's been holding.
- 33:14SPEAKER_1: Let's go ahead and bring him in.
- 33:15SPEAKER_1: Imhotep, good evening.
- 33:19SPEAKER_3: Good evening, gentlemen.
- 33:21SPEAKER_3: Thank you for taking my call.
- 33:26SPEAKER_3: When I read the article in the New York Times about what Hegseth said earlier
- 33:31SPEAKER_3: about having only Elon Musk for us that may have a little age on us like all
- 33:37SPEAKER_3: of us do.
- 33:39SPEAKER_3: He also said he's going to have Newt Gingrich involved.
- 33:43SPEAKER_3: I'm like, oh, he brought out caricature from the past.
- 33:47SPEAKER_3: Newt Gingrich,
- 33:48SPEAKER_3: the author of the Republican Revolution
- 33:52SPEAKER_3: in 1994,
- 33:53SPEAKER_3: Bill Clinton's time,
- 33:55SPEAKER_3: which was
- 33:57SPEAKER_3: nothing.
- 33:57SPEAKER_3: They didn't do anything.
- 33:58SPEAKER_3: You know, they throw the crime bill.
- 34:02SPEAKER_3: Bill Clinton always gets the lion's share of the hate from the crime bill.
- 34:07SPEAKER_3: And I was writing papers in my political science class at that time.
- 34:11SPEAKER_3: I was a senior.
- 34:14SPEAKER_3: And one of the political science classes.
- 34:15SPEAKER_3: And honestly,
- 34:16SPEAKER_3: I think if I remember it totally correctly,
- 34:18SPEAKER_3: because I had it in my head,
- 34:21SPEAKER_3: I think it was 138 Republicans in the House and 143 Democrats in the House.
- 34:29SPEAKER_3: And I think it was a total of
- 34:34SPEAKER_3: 89 senators in the Senate voted for that bill.
- 34:37SPEAKER_3: But yeah, Bill Clinton gets it.
- 34:39SPEAKER_3: And New Gingrich, he voted for it.
- 34:41SPEAKER_3: I don't know how to get away with it all the time.
- 34:43SPEAKER_3: Anyway, I watched a George Carlin video earlier.
- 34:48SPEAKER_3: I love George Carlin.
- 34:49SPEAKER_3: He's not with us anymore.
- 34:50SPEAKER_3: But his words live on.
- 34:52SPEAKER_3: And he talked about,
- 34:52SPEAKER_3: this is what Pastor Green's talking about with those rural counties and the ones
- 34:57SPEAKER_3: that normally vote red.
- 34:59SPEAKER_3: And they never seem to vote for their interests.
- 35:01SPEAKER_3: And George Carlin was talking about how he just does not understand how
- 35:05SPEAKER_3: the working class,
- 35:06SPEAKER_3: the people,
- 35:07SPEAKER_3: the working class or middle class,
- 35:09SPEAKER_3: or definitely salaries that are back at $500,000 or less, or even $250,000 or less.
- 35:17SPEAKER_3: Continually vote for billionaires and millionaires who do not care about you.
- 35:21SPEAKER_3: They don't care.
- 35:23SPEAKER_3: That's what he kept saying.
- 35:24SPEAKER_3: They don't care.
- 35:25SPEAKER_3: They don't care.
- 35:26SPEAKER_3: They don't care.
- 35:27SPEAKER_3: They don't care.
- 35:27SPEAKER_3: I don't know.
- 35:29SPEAKER_1: We know a lot of it is racism.
- 35:31SPEAKER_1: We know a
- 35:31SPEAKER_3: lot of it,
- 35:31SPEAKER_3: like James Baldwin said,
- 35:32SPEAKER_3: is the fact that it's not about what the people they vote for can do for them.
- 35:37SPEAKER_3: It's about the pain they can inflict on everyone else.
- 35:41SPEAKER_3: That's just the most schizophrenic, pathological cycle.
- 35:46SPEAKER_3: It's a sociopathic, psychopathic thinking you can have.
- 35:49SPEAKER_3: And that's what we have with them.
- 35:51SPEAKER_3: It wasn't our fault in 2016.
- 35:53SPEAKER_3: You know, black people get beat up on that.
- 35:57SPEAKER_3: And I had to, I mean, I debated with Tina Cosmo about that after that, and James Patterson.
- 36:01SPEAKER_3: You know,
- 36:01SPEAKER_3: first of all,
- 36:02SPEAKER_3: of the number of eligible voters that you have that are black,
- 36:05SPEAKER_3: you know, you don't get 100%.
- 36:07SPEAKER_3: So you get 70, 80%.
- 36:09SPEAKER_3: You still need,
- 36:10SPEAKER_3: you still have the majority of people,
- 36:12SPEAKER_3: it's the majority of rulers, white people in this country.
- 36:15SPEAKER_3: So like James Baldwin said, we want these things to really change.
- 36:20SPEAKER_3: Look at the Obama here.
- 36:21SPEAKER_3: White people helped usher that in because they helped vote Obama in.
- 36:26SPEAKER_3: And for some sort of reason,
- 36:28SPEAKER_3: they've gotten turned by Fox News to realize,
- 36:32SPEAKER_3: what about the things that matter for you?
- 36:34SPEAKER_3: There's no dose check.
- 36:36SPEAKER_3: There's been no tariff check.
- 36:38SPEAKER_3: This $5,000 lie,
- 36:40SPEAKER_3: he pushed it again the other day,
- 36:41SPEAKER_3: Pastor Green, you're right, he pushed it again the other day.
- 36:43SPEAKER_3: Well, if you help us keep the House in the Senate, I'm going to make sure we get the $5,000.
- 36:48SPEAKER_3: You have the House in the Senate in the presidency now.
- 36:51SPEAKER_3: Laura Ingram asked him two weeks ago,
- 36:52SPEAKER_3: you have the House in the Senate now, why come you can't get the checks out now?
- 36:56SPEAKER_3: Well, the Democrats won't do it.
- 36:59SPEAKER_3: It's always something.
- 37:00SPEAKER_3: And so my statement, my statement is to the Caucasian, the white,
- 37:09SPEAKER_3: You are George Carlin.
- 37:11SPEAKER_3: He is white.
- 37:13SPEAKER_3: George Carlin said you keep voting for people who do not care about you.
- 37:20SPEAKER_3: Former President Obama said a rising tide floats all boats.
- 37:25SPEAKER_3: Why are you so worried about the pain that ICE is doing for immigrants or
- 37:30SPEAKER_3: the anti-DEI or all the now we got college loans being canceled?
- 37:35SPEAKER_3: For all these, uh,
- 37:37SPEAKER_3: sociology, art, and, and,
- 37:39SPEAKER_3: and cosmetology and all kinds of other programs
- 37:41SPEAKER_3: that help people become self-sufficient in life.
- 37:44SPEAKER_3: Why are you all so hardened on that instead of understanding that you need to worry
- 37:50SPEAKER_3: about or vote for the people who are going to make sure we all are progressive?
- 37:55SPEAKER_1: All right.
- 37:55SPEAKER_1: Hey, I appreciate
- 37:57SPEAKER_3: each other up as black people.
- 37:58SPEAKER_3: And thank you.
- 37:58SPEAKER_3: Thank you for taking my call.
- 37:59SPEAKER_1: Thank you.
- 38:00SPEAKER_1: We got Joyce on the line.
- 38:01SPEAKER_1: Let's go ahead and bring Joyce in.
- 38:04SPEAKER_4: Well, um, Imhotep threw me off when he talked about the cosmos.
- 38:11SPEAKER_1: Joyce?
- 38:17SPEAKER_1: Joyce, are you there?
- 38:19SPEAKER_1: I think we lost Joyce.
- 38:21SPEAKER_1: Imhotep said quite a bit there, Mr. President.
- 38:24SPEAKER_1: You want to respond?
- 38:26SPEAKER_2: Well, Imhotep just brought up the great point of there are people who vote
- 38:30SPEAKER_2: against Their interests.
- 38:33SPEAKER_2: I mean, just so many men have ICE issues,
- 38:37SPEAKER_2: but because they're doing that,
- 38:41SPEAKER_2: you know,
- 38:41SPEAKER_2: even though they're losing their Medicaid,
- 38:43SPEAKER_2: Medicare,
- 38:44SPEAKER_2: even though the hospital was closing,
- 38:47SPEAKER_2: even though they got to drive 100 miles to get quality health care,
- 38:51SPEAKER_2: they will go and vote for pro-ICE stuff because in their minds,
- 38:56SPEAKER_2: it's hurting some Latino or Haitian or some minority or somewhere.
- 39:02SPEAKER_2: Minimize their own pain that they're experiencing and not vote in their own best interest.
- 39:07SPEAKER_2: That's happening and appears to happen consistently across the poor states
- 39:16SPEAKER_2: and poor areas of the state.
- 39:18SPEAKER_2: So those people either don't vote or vote against their own interests.
- 39:24SPEAKER_2: I mean, even the no vote is the help to keep the status quo.
- 39:29SPEAKER_2: So that's what the Elon Musk, the billionaires count on.
- 39:34SPEAKER_2: And it makes it very, very challenging.
- 39:37SPEAKER_2: And the reason we got to get out of the vote is if you have somebody who is
- 39:41SPEAKER_2: for Medicare and is for keeping hospitals open,
- 39:45SPEAKER_2: et cetera,
- 39:46SPEAKER_2: and quality health care, then they got to have people who understand this go vote.
- 39:53SPEAKER_2: Because if we stay home,
- 39:54SPEAKER_2: you can't win with that message because the people out in the rural areas are going
- 39:59SPEAKER_2: to, for the most part, vote against their best interests.
- 40:03SPEAKER_2: When Obama won, Hamilton County switched and went with Obama.
- 40:10SPEAKER_2: But, you know, he still didn't win way out here in the rural areas.
- 40:14SPEAKER_2: But there was enough white people in some of these areas.
- 40:18SPEAKER_2: And it's because some of them were suffering too.
- 40:21SPEAKER_2: And they said, hey,
- 40:21SPEAKER_2: I'm coming over here on this side of the fence because things are in
- 40:24SPEAKER_2: a very poor way.
- 40:26SPEAKER_2: And we're in a very poor way this time.
- 40:28SPEAKER_2: And it's going to be really interesting to see,
- 40:30SPEAKER_2: do they believe, oh, we're just going to give them another chance?
- 40:35SPEAKER_2: Or are they going to say we're going to make a switch?
- 40:38SPEAKER_2: Because racism is a piece of this.
- 40:40SPEAKER_2: I mean, some people like all that trauma.
- 40:44SPEAKER_2: Mr. President.
- 40:44SPEAKER_2: Yes.
- 40:45SPEAKER_2: Yes.
- 40:46SPEAKER_1: We shouldn't have to get to where we were because a critical piece
- 40:53SPEAKER_1: for President Obama is we were in the worst shape that we've been in the country
- 40:59SPEAKER_1: for decades.
- 41:02SPEAKER_1: And that's the only way it's like you can get people to change their minds.
- 41:06SPEAKER_1: People, let's not get all the way to where you hear,
- 41:10SPEAKER_1: here's a phrase,
- 41:11SPEAKER_1: where you're rock bottom before you decide that you're going to get back up.
- 41:16SPEAKER_1: Read the writing on the wall.
- 41:18SPEAKER_1: I mean, don't wait until it's too late.
- 41:21SPEAKER_1: Joyce is back.
- 41:22SPEAKER_1: Let's go ahead and bring her in, Mr. President.
- 41:24SPEAKER_1: Joyce, are you there?
- 41:26SPEAKER_4: Yes, I am.
- 41:28SPEAKER_4: And as far as the voting,
- 41:31SPEAKER_4: I thought, If you could go down to the city county, can y'all hear me?
- 41:35SPEAKER_4: Go to the city county building on Sunday.
- 41:37SPEAKER_4: I think that would be a good drive.
- 41:39SPEAKER_4: Back in the day, the churches would take a group.
- 41:44SPEAKER_4: You know, we don't need to wait until the last minute because stuff happens.
- 41:48SPEAKER_4: So we need to get that early voting drive going full force, all hands down.
- 41:54SPEAKER_4: Okay?
- 41:55SPEAKER_4: That's just one theory.
- 41:57SPEAKER_4: And then the bus company, they offer...
- 42:01SPEAKER_4: Free rides to all veterans.
- 42:03SPEAKER_4: So with gas prices being as high as they are,
- 42:07SPEAKER_4: I would say we all should take full advantage of that.
- 42:11SPEAKER_4: Seniors ride half price.
- 42:14SPEAKER_4: You know, utilize that bus system because then they pick up the cost.
- 42:20SPEAKER_4: There are so many avenues.
- 42:22SPEAKER_4: You can have car parties that you can convert to, go down to the pole and vote.
- 42:28SPEAKER_4: You can have I don't know what other kind of games people like.
- 42:33SPEAKER_4: The electric shuffle, I don't know.
- 42:35SPEAKER_4: But we can motivate our community.
- 42:39SPEAKER_1: We all got to motivate somebody, Joyce.
- 42:42SPEAKER_1: And you're right.
- 42:44SPEAKER_4: It ain't even about race and color.
- 42:47SPEAKER_4: Just go utilize that right while you got it.
- 42:50SPEAKER_4: That part right there.
- 42:52SPEAKER_4: Oh, God.
- 42:52SPEAKER_1: Make sure all those you influence, make sure they go vote.
- 42:56SPEAKER_1: And you mentioned voting on Sundays.
- 42:58SPEAKER_1: The city county building will be open after that.
- 43:03SPEAKER_1: After the 24th.
- 43:05SPEAKER_1: After the 24th.
- 43:06SPEAKER_1: Yes.
- 43:07SPEAKER_1: Then you can vote on Sunday there.
- 43:09SPEAKER_1: And you will see.
- 43:10SPEAKER_4: Is that one day or do we get four weeks of Sunday?
- 43:13SPEAKER_4: You'll actually get two Sundays.
- 43:14SPEAKER_2: I mean, you know, we get one Sunday in October.
- 43:17SPEAKER_1: You'll get two Sundays.
- 43:20SPEAKER_2: Can I add a reminder?
- 43:21SPEAKER_2: Go right ahead.
- 43:23SPEAKER_2: There's a Souls to the Post thing that's being sponsored by Live Free Indiana for
- 43:28SPEAKER_2: that October 25th.
- 43:31SPEAKER_2: And then there is a Souls to the Post on November 1st.
- 43:35SPEAKER_2: The first,
- 43:35SPEAKER_2: that'll be the Sunday before the election that I think the Democrat Party is engaged
- 43:40SPEAKER_2: in.
- 43:41SPEAKER_2: So there are a couple of Souls to the Polls events already scheduled
- 43:45SPEAKER_2: on those two Sundays for downtown.
- 43:49SPEAKER_2: There is, as you noted, a march to the polls on October the 24th.
- 43:56SPEAKER_2: It's by the Hoosiers Voting Alliance,
- 44:00SPEAKER_2: which is a collaboration of a number of social justice advocacy organizations,
- 44:09SPEAKER_2: such as the Concerned Clergy, Indivisible, Mad Voters, Women...
- 44:16SPEAKER_2: League of Women Voters,
- 44:17SPEAKER_2: and that's not the exhaustive list,
- 44:19SPEAKER_2: but about 10 different organizations, common causes in here.
- 44:23SPEAKER_2: So that's going on on Saturday the 24th.
- 44:27SPEAKER_2: So there are a number of events that are scheduled.
- 44:31SPEAKER_2: I agree with Joyce.
- 44:32SPEAKER_2: You got to take advantage of it.
- 44:34SPEAKER_2: It's Indigo and getting to vote.
- 44:37SPEAKER_2: It's all hands on deck.
- 44:38SPEAKER_2: It's everybody, like you mentioned, Reverend Alexander.
- 44:41SPEAKER_2: You can influence if you can get Pookie and Ray ready to go with you.
- 44:44SPEAKER_2: Nobody go vote by yourself.
- 44:46SPEAKER_2: It's that type of turnout we're going to need.
- 44:49SPEAKER_2: That's the only way you see, quote unquote, a blue wave in Indiana.
- 44:57SPEAKER_2: And Marion County is very key to that.
- 45:02SPEAKER_2: Because it's hard to make up if you don't get the volume in Marion County.
- 45:08SPEAKER_1: And so once again, on that particular day, that March 24th, it'll be in all the townships.
- 45:15SPEAKER_1: So you can participate, you know, pretty much all across the city.
- 45:19SPEAKER_1: That's a great way to bring people together.
- 45:25SPEAKER_1: Joy still there?
- 45:27SPEAKER_1: All right, Mr. President, I think, you know, here we are a few days left.
- 45:35SPEAKER_1: There's a lot of
- 45:38SPEAKER_1: Unknowns,
- 45:39SPEAKER_1: you can even say shenanigans,
- 45:43SPEAKER_1: but whatever that is,
- 45:46SPEAKER_1: the most important thing is to have a plan to vote,
- 45:49SPEAKER_1: to be dedicated to making sure I'm going to get my ballot cast and understanding
- 45:58SPEAKER_1: that there's definitely some barriers that are intentionally being set
- 46:03SPEAKER_1: and you've got to plan for those barriers.
- 46:06SPEAKER_2: And we've got to be And tell people,
- 46:09SPEAKER_2: I know a lot of people are going to say, my vote don't matter.
- 46:12SPEAKER_2: This is what we got to demonstrate, that your vote matters.
- 46:15SPEAKER_2: We got to have volume that shows that people are watching.
- 46:19SPEAKER_2: That's going to fuel the next election in 27 and the one in 28.
- 46:26SPEAKER_2: Because they're going to be looking to see,
- 46:27SPEAKER_2: if you go through all this and you're not concerned enough to vote,
- 46:31SPEAKER_2: That's going to be a huge message to candidates that are going to be running.
- 46:35SPEAKER_2: So we need to send a message to anybody running for future stuff.
- 46:40SPEAKER_2: Oh, we are awake.
- 46:41SPEAKER_2: We just woke up.
- 46:42SPEAKER_2: Naptown was asleep, but we woke up.
- 46:45SPEAKER_2: And now we're like, we are engaged in this and we're paying attention.
- 46:50SPEAKER_2: We have to send that message.
- 46:52SPEAKER_2: Now, Reverend Alexander, you're not as optimistic, but...
- 46:57SPEAKER_2: Because we're at the end of the show.
- 46:58SPEAKER_2: I guess I won't get to hear your reasons for your pessimism in terms of us leading a blue wave.
- 47:05SPEAKER_2: But we kind of need that here in Marion County and in Indiana, in my opinion.
- 47:12SPEAKER_1: It'd be so nice, Mr. President.
- 47:15SPEAKER_1: I just don't see it happening.
- 47:17SPEAKER_2: It would be.
- 47:18SPEAKER_1: You know what?
- 47:20SPEAKER_1: And it's kind of funny because I think it was a Imhotep that said earlier here,
- 47:25SPEAKER_1: you know, we're looking at Florida, Texas and Georgia.
- 47:29SPEAKER_1: And just think about all the things they did, especially in Texas, just to try to get numbers.
- 47:36SPEAKER_1: And here they are where they are.
- 47:39SPEAKER_1: And to me, that in itself, to me, is something they should be applauded for.
- 47:46SPEAKER_1: And the same thing in Georgia.
- 47:47SPEAKER_1: I mean, I think a lot of it and I'll close with this.
- 47:52SPEAKER_1: My reasoning becomes, you know, real simple.
- 47:55SPEAKER_1: I don't think we have the cohesiveness, togetherness.
- 48:00SPEAKER_1: I don't think we have the leadership in the party,
- 48:03SPEAKER_1: the organization in the party that can bring the party together in order
- 48:08SPEAKER_1: to get something like that accomplished.
- 48:11SPEAKER_1: I think we're too caught up in some of the labels rather than being,
- 48:16SPEAKER_1: you know,
- 48:17SPEAKER_1: really focused on what we need to do so that We can at least get,
- 48:22SPEAKER_1: not just get rid of this administration,
- 48:24SPEAKER_1: but get back to the work of the government for the people.
- 48:28SPEAKER_1: So that's where we are.
- 48:30SPEAKER_2: And you make some valid points.
- 48:31SPEAKER_2: So it's going to be interesting to see how this works out.
- 48:35SPEAKER_2: Because I will say in these other states, it appears they have better organizations.
- 48:43SPEAKER_2: Therefore, you get better results.
- 48:46SPEAKER_2: Like for Georgia, it goes back to Stacey Abrams and the work that she did.
- 48:50SPEAKER_2: So you've seen some things.
- 48:51SPEAKER_2: They've got a track record there to pull some of this stuff off.
- 48:55SPEAKER_2: They've worked hard in Texas.
- 48:57SPEAKER_2: They've worked hard in Florida.
- 48:58SPEAKER_2: And they appear to be better organized than we are.
- 49:04SPEAKER_2: When we have a number, like I mentioned a few events just earlier, but they're siloed.
- 49:10SPEAKER_2: There's no overarching strategy where somebody said, hey, you go do this, you go do this.
- 49:16SPEAKER_2: Now we're going to be stepping on one another's toes.
- 49:19SPEAKER_2: And I don't know what that means.
- 49:20SPEAKER_2: Does that generate more voters?
- 49:22SPEAKER_2: I don't know.
- 49:24SPEAKER_1: Well, it'll be more, I think, animosity.
- 49:27SPEAKER_1: They're still reeling from what happened in May in the primaries.
- 49:32SPEAKER_1: Well, we got to stop right there.
- 49:34SPEAKER_1: That's the end of our conversation, but we got to make change.
- 49:38SPEAKER_1: We got to do better, people.
- 49:39SPEAKER_1: But whatever it is, make sure you have a plan to vote.
- 49:43SPEAKER_1: Understanding early voting starts next week,
- 49:47SPEAKER_1: and there'll be a lot of opportunity for you to be able to participate.
- 49:53SPEAKER_1: So we hope everyone enjoyed the program.
- 49:55SPEAKER_1: We thank all of you for being with us, and we'll see you all next week.
- 49:59SPEAKER_1: Be blessed.
- 50:01SPEAKER_2: Take care everybody.
