Heat Safety First for County Crews | Alexandria Louisiana News
In the face of brutal summer heat, Grant Parish is going all out to protect its workers—starting shifts at 6 AM, mandating 16-ounce water bottles and electrolytes before clocking in, and deploying deputies to monitor crew health. Litter crews wrap up by 11:30 AM, while road crews finish around noon with shade breaks and air-conditioned trucks. Any worker feeling overwhelmed can cool off for 15–20 minutes, and if someone gets sick, the whole operation stops until they’re better. Safety isn’t optional—it’s non-negotiable.
