- 0:00There are plenty of ways to kind of sum up how and why society.
- 0:07You can argue over the last decade or so, you know it's
- 0:17become the way it is. That would be staying the under
- 0:22obvious, But here's something that even you probably don't
- 0:27realize well you actually do, but doesn't really get necessary
- 0:31bother up as it should. It's the mindset of people.
- 0:42And by that I mean, how the hell has people gotten too damn soft?
- 0:53No, and I'm not actually joking here.
- 0:56Like, how in the hell has people gone too damn soft?
- 1:03Like, have people become too, in a way sensitive for their own
- 1:11good? Now, while I don't know in all
- 1:15seriousness how and why people have gotten, you know how people
- 1:29have gotten to this point, but it's almost, I can't even say
- 1:38embarrassing, but it's but you can kind of say it's
- 1:44embarrassing, but it's really not.
- 1:46But it's borderline pathetic and kind of sad.
- 1:55But you know, that's society for you.
- 2:04So I guess I can and and could explain how at this point people
- 2:12have become too fragile, too dense skin, and really at this
- 2:21point too self assured for their own good to the point where it
- 2:30just seems like every little thing will trigger them for
- 2:34almost the wrong reason. Now work.
- 2:41It is no secret that people are who they essentially are.
- 2:47I mean, that will kind of be understanding the obvious, but
- 2:51whatever. But it comes to a point where a
- 2:58legitimate question really does have to be asked.
- 3:03Is it really a simple with people's feelings being hurt or
- 3:13is there something underlining that I don't think people
- 3:18realize? I mean, think about it this way.
- 3:24Nowadays, this younger generation, they can't seem to
- 3:29handle criticism. You know, many of them don't
- 3:33want essentially they don't want tough love thrown their way.
- 3:39They don't want to be criticized.
- 3:41They don't want, you know, a stern talking to.
- 3:46They don't want any of that. What they want is to essentially
- 3:56be coddled, to have their hands held, to essentially be told,
- 4:03you know, everything is OK. They essentially want their
- 4:07flowers and be given praise all the time.
- 4:13Now we just oppose that to, you know, when I grew, grew up, It's
- 4:18starting to come along in life, I'll admit, you know that I had
- 4:25teachers, my parents, even when I played sports, You know that I
- 4:31have people, you know, criticize me, telling me I need to do
- 4:36that, do better. You know, this is where you got
- 4:41to improve in a school, at home or in your sport, what have you.
- 4:46You better believe I did. And look, I'll even admit I
- 4:51looked at it as like, whoa, you know, again, me being a young
- 4:56kid turn into a team that look guys like a sign of, you know,
- 5:02they didn't respect me or did they hate me?
- 5:05Yeah, I did. I mean, I'm not gonna sugar coat
- 5:08that. But now me being older and more
- 5:14understanding, it wasn't due to the fact they didn't like me.
- 5:20I mean, if that were the case it would have shown itself a lot
- 5:25earlier. But what it was, more
- 5:29importantly than I think I actually need it, it was
- 5:41essentially encouragement that you have more inside you as a
- 5:50person that you can get to that I think most don't even realize
- 5:56within themselves. Now I know what you're probably
- 6:00thinking. Like, how is that realistically
- 6:03possible? Everyone always believes for one
- 6:10reason or whatever. They always believe they know
- 6:16what's best for them. See, when you're at a young age
- 6:25or whatever, you always think you know everything.
- 6:31And sometimes you'd think you have life figured out to where,
- 6:35OK, I know what it takes to do this.
- 6:37Then the third here, and as long as I put it all together, I can
- 6:42figure it out. And that's where people
- 6:48ultimately outdo themselves more than they probably should.
- 6:54See the problem that ultimately comes into play, People actually
- 7:01don't know what's good for them. And in a lot of cases, they
- 7:06don't even know really anything if it hit them upside their ass
- 7:12'cause the reality is we don't, you know, growing up as your
- 7:17kids or teens, we don't always know what is best for us.
- 7:29We think we do, but we actually don't.
- 7:33Because you see, sometimes you actually need to listen to those
- 7:38that know what they're talking about.
- 7:41And by that I mean those that are older.
- 7:48And look, sometimes you're going to be receptive to that.
- 7:52Sometimes you may not want to hear what other people are
- 7:56telling you. And was I that one point?
- 8:00Again, it would be a huge disservice to me to say if I
- 8:05wasn't of that ilk. But as time goes on, you learn
- 8:13to understand that those same people, they actually know what
- 8:23the hell they're talking about. But the reality is that's what
- 8:31is one of the reasons or one of the things people are lacking in
- 8:38society today. It's that they think they know
- 8:44everything, but they really don't.
- 8:47That they know what they believe is best for them, but ultimately
- 8:52come to the realization that that actually was not the case.
- 8:58And in a lot of instances, they always believe that not only do
- 9:05they have their life figured out, but when they actually get
- 9:09to a point where they actually believe it, only to find out
- 9:14they don't, that's when everything starts to kind of
- 9:20unravel for them. And you can see why a good hand
- 9:25for them ultimately end up bitching about their life
- 9:30because they think they are so smart that they didn't need to
- 9:33essentially learn anything. Yeah, See how that has worked?
- 9:41Regardless, though, you have to understand that it's OK to not
- 9:48have your life figured out. It's even OK to, you know, not
- 9:54even want to feel as if you have everything sorted out like in
- 9:58the hood. But the idea that you ultimately
- 10:03think that you can't handle criticism, to me that's like the
- 10:12ultimate sign of immature. Here's what I mean by that.
- 10:17Look, we all at one point in our life, we will get criticized
- 10:23almost for everything. It doesn't matter if you're a
- 10:26kid, teenager or even as an adult, like, you are sure you
- 10:33are going to get criticized for something.
- 10:37But what has me, I think even more, like I said, kind of
- 10:43pathetic in a way, is the fact that we have been, you know,
- 10:50conditioned to believe that. Taking criticism is almost as if
- 10:54saying that, you know, we don't like you or that you're not
- 10:59worth anything. If you're someone, even if
- 11:07you're an adult, that actually believes that, then I'm actually
- 11:13here to tell you, you really have some serious problems.
- 11:17Now, I'm not even joking about that because look, in life,
- 11:22you're going to have to learn and take your lumps.
- 11:24I mean, we all, I mean, we would like to try escape criticism,
- 11:29but the bottom line is nobody will be immune to it, but people
- 11:36ultimately will try to find, you know, any kind of excuse to use
- 11:45it as a way to essentially not want to do anything meaningful,
- 11:53unfortunately. Oh, and by that I mean, I
- 11:55actually get better as a person, but it's because of the fact
- 12:00they are too dense skin, me soft as hell.
- 12:06They probably think, well, what's the point that, you know,
- 12:11I'm not well liked, nobody likes me.
- 12:14So it's like, why even bother? And that right there is how
- 12:20people ultimately outdo himself and actually for the wrong
- 12:25reasons. If you can't ultimately find a
- 12:31way to use criticism and tough love as some motivating factor
- 12:38to 1 be better, then what the hell do you think is gonna
- 12:42happen when you ultimately find yourself in a real tough
- 12:48situation in life to where you will be put at the forefront and
- 12:58then you are really going to have your work cut out for you?
- 13:05Or you're just going to come back down and say, you know
- 13:08what, I'm not going to continue, why bother?
- 13:11I'm done. I'm just going to draw your way
- 13:15and give up. Like with many things, that is a
- 13:22cop out and an easy way to draw in a towel.
- 13:28Fortunately, that's life for you, you know, and people
- 13:32nowadays, you figure out how that works.
- 13:36But the point is you cannot use criticism and or tough love or
- 13:48even being judgmental. You can't ultimately use that as
- 13:56a reason to essentially be a soft ass person.
- 14:05Because if you do that, you ultimately give off the
- 14:09impression that I don't essentially have to take being
- 14:14judge. I don't have to take being, you
- 14:18know, chastised and criticized by many people who one don't
- 14:23even know me. And #2 that I don't have to take
- 14:28this. I don't have to essentially
- 14:31change anything about me. And it's essentially, you know,
- 14:36to hell with you all. And that'll be that.
- 14:41OK, you go ahead and have that kind of thought process and it's
- 14:47not going to end. Look, and again, take it from a
- 14:53guy that, yes, himself was judged at one point or not, you
- 15:01know, from growing up to even now.
- 15:04I mean, it's life people. You're not going to escape being
- 15:08judged and criticized. The one thing you cannot do,
- 15:15however, you cannot be soft about it.
- 15:20And look, are people going to say a whole bunch of nonsensical
- 15:25bullshit? Of course.
- 15:28Are people going to take jabs at you?
- 15:32You know, for some of the time, kind of unwanted?
- 15:36Absolutely. Doesn't you, no matter really
- 15:40what age you are. But the key once again is are
- 15:47you going to let it be a detriment?
- 15:52Because it's real easy, especially nowadays with the way
- 15:56people are, to essentially let it be a deterrent.
- 16:04You can't let that be the case, because if you allow it to
- 16:07happen, you ultimately have yourself to blame for your
- 16:13eventual failure. So do yourself a favor.
- 16:20You have to learn to embrace criticism, tough love, and even
- 16:25some harsh advice. You're not just going to be able
- 16:29to be given a bed of roses and everything's going to be fine.
- 16:34Because if you really think that's the way you want your
- 16:37life to be, you are going to be in for harsh reality.
- 16:41And while I can't, you know, speak for everyone, again, I can
- 16:45only speak for myself. The bottom line is, it doesn't
- 16:51matter where this criticism or tough love come from, if
- 16:57somebody actually knows what they're talking about and they
- 17:00actually want to see you do well, learn to accept what
- 17:05they're saying. Because a lot of people,
- 17:07unfortunately, they do not. They do not understand really
- 17:17how even the harshest of advice can end up being the biggest
- 17:23blessing of them all. So this again, stop being
- 17:27sensitive. Stop being so fragile minded and
- 17:32learn to take things on the chin and just be better from it.
- 17:36It's really that simple.
