- 0:27Hey, welcome everybody. Happy weekend.
- 0:30We know the rules. Tomorrow doesn't count.
- 0:34Friday doesn't count either. I love, I love the second
- 0:52recording of the week, just just before Thursday hits.
- 0:56It just hits different. Get the juices.
- 0:59Flown a little. Bit for me it hits extra
- 1:02different. Friday is my last day at this
- 1:05jail. Hey, hey, hey.
- 1:09Yeah. Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh,
- 1:14oh, oh. Tough that was a remember up
- 1:21ending yeah so. Any who's last day work coming
- 1:28up this? Did you undo your?
- 1:30Did you hit a button when you were doing out there?
- 1:33I can't hear you. Can't hear me?
- 1:36Look at this. This is why we can't have nice
- 1:38things. What happened?
- 1:40What happened? What did I do?
- 1:45Can you hear me? I can hear you.
- 1:47Can you not hear me? I.
- 1:48Can hear you. Are we good?
- 1:50What did I hit? Did I press a button?
- 1:52Are we good? Can you hear me?
- 1:55I can't hear you. Oh my gosh.
- 2:01What's happening? Hello.
- 2:09Hello. Can you hear me?
- 2:10Nope. Oh my gosh.
- 2:15What did we do? What's going on that's.
- 2:20Really. Why we can't have nice things?
- 2:22Can you hear me now? I can hear you.
- 2:26Can you hear me? I can hear you.
- 2:28We're back. Oh my gosh.
- 2:31Did you do a little heart attack?
- 2:35I'll tell you. I'll explain exactly what
- 2:37happened. OK.
- 2:38Are you ready? What?
- 2:40So you see these like little these like little green and red
- 2:44buttons. You hit the my cord was jumping
- 2:48and it hit the IT hit like a green button.
- 2:50Oh. My gosh it.
- 2:52Was like a third one. This is why we can't have nice
- 2:55things. I was I was vibing so hard just
- 2:57now and then you hit me with oh, can't hear you sick.
- 3:00Why that? I thought you hit stop on the
- 3:03sound to kill till kill the dance moves.
- 3:06No. But it just seems just me.
- 3:09I think we're good now, Yeah, Hopefully all good.
- 3:12Like crap. We're all good.
- 3:16All right. Well, now we got that out of
- 3:17way. Let's talk.
- 3:18You can't. You can't party prematurely.
- 3:20Can't party prematurely Dodgers fans looking at you.
- 3:24I'm just kidding. I'm just kidding.
- 3:25That's that's uncalled for. Let's talk some baseball,
- 3:29specifically the one the only the Bobby Witt junior.
- 3:39I I'll tell you what, man, I I'm glad I I don't regret my my
- 3:45decision back. What was it like a month,
- 3:50probably like a month, month and a half ago at this point where
- 3:53we were talking about this is when guy you, if you remember,
- 3:56this is when Gunner Henderson was still in the the MVP
- 3:59conversation. Once that once it started
- 4:02brewing a little bit like we weren't talking MVP too early.
- 4:05But you know, once the conversation, people looking
- 4:07around, OK, who, who were the finalists here?
- 4:09Gunner Henderson was still in that mix and we had the
- 4:11conversation of if you could start, if you could build your
- 4:15franchise around one of these guys, Who you going with?
- 4:17I think we both selected Bobby Wood Junior.
- 4:20And yeah, it's not just because of the way this season has gone
- 4:24for Bobby Wood Junior, but I think as we've had this
- 4:27opportunity this time to to really just soak in what he's
- 4:33been doing and what he is positioning himself to do for
- 4:38the rest of his career. Bad.
- 4:40What a choice that was. I think it was the right choice.
- 4:44It's nothing against Gunner. I it's again I will reiterate
- 4:51this because I will not go with the mob mentality of tearing
- 4:56down another player to build up someone else Gunner.
- 5:00Henderson. Right on, brother.
- 5:01Is incredible. Gunner Henderson is absolutely a
- 5:07a right choice in certain arguments, but not this one.
- 5:12Bobby Wood Junior has too many tools and is capable of too Dang
- 5:17much. 555. Yeah, possibly a 6th, we don't
- 5:21know. 23455 tools, possibly a 6th.
- 5:26That's a great point. Possibly 1/6, don't know.
- 5:29Yet he's a freak. TBD.
- 5:32He's a freak. So yeah, can we?
- 5:37So I really like that the Royals broadcast just calls him Junior.
- 5:43It hits different. Do they actually, I haven't
- 5:45caught enough. I haven't caught enough for the
- 5:47Rose broadcast. I need to.
- 5:48I need to. Step in, fire.
- 5:50It's fire, dude. Like it.
- 5:52Just like there was the other night, and I'm sure we're going
- 5:56to go over this, but it was the other night.
- 5:59Was he at the White Sox? I think I think he went, I think
- 6:03he had five hits against the White.
- 6:05Sox. I think so, yeah.
- 6:06I think in Chicago, I think. Yeah, and he made like 2 pretty
- 6:10incredible plays make make them, made them look like super
- 6:14routine in the hole at short. And yeah dude, they were just
- 6:18calling him junior. And I was like, this gives me,
- 6:23this gives me something, this gives me something.
- 6:25I like it. It just works.
- 6:27Flashbacks to Calvin. I know, I know it's.
- 6:31Flashbacks to Griffey, I mean. Like when you say junior like
- 6:36it's typically done well in the past.
- 6:39That's panned out. I would say here, I would say
- 6:42he's in. He's in good company, Bobby
- 6:44Witt. But looking at the numbers,
- 6:45let's talk some numbers here. Not only is he putting up an MVP
- 6:51worthy campaign in 2024, he is, I don't want to say single
- 6:58handedly because I think you can look at what the Royals have
- 7:00done to this point in the season and acknowledge that some of
- 7:03their offseason editions, some of their deadline editions have
- 7:06certainly made an impact. But I mean, I, I'm getting as
- 7:14close as you possibly can to saying single handedly has
- 7:19gotten the Royals to where they are.
- 7:21I'm not going to say it, but I if, if this is a line, I'm
- 7:24getting like right here, Getting like right here.
- 7:27Man 'cause he's a one man wrecking crew.
- 7:29It is unbelievable what he's doing on the year and actually
- 7:34after following today's game Wednesday, he's hitting 346 with
- 7:3828 jacks, 95 ribbies and OPS of 10/17 and 27 swipes.
- 7:45Since the break, this has been like my favorite, my favorite
- 7:50window to analyze now that we're now that the sample size is
- 7:54large enough. Since the break, he's hitting
- 7:57four O 8, 60 hits, twelve home runs, 32 ribbies and 39 runs
- 8:07scored deep. If if you take according to MLB
- 8:12metrics, If you take what he's done since the start of July and
- 8:16extrapolate that over a full 162.
- 8:21Good word. Extrapolate.
- 8:23His season would look like would look as followed. 262 hits, 163
- 8:29runs scored, 136 RB is 51 home runs, four O 9 batting average,
- 8:38a 12/25 OPSA, 232 weighted runs created plus and a 16.2 F 4.
- 8:49It's impressive to say the least.
- 8:53It is impressive, man. If like if he wasn't hitting for
- 8:59this average, you could argue that Judge is in a Triple Crown
- 9:02conversation. And if Judge wasn't just on this
- 9:06record setting pace for what he's doing, this is like a more
- 9:12complete season in a way, especially when you incorporate
- 9:18what he's doing defensively, which I would have looked at
- 9:20like DRS or anything, but. Sure.
- 9:23But I mean, if you take away, if you take away, the average judge
- 9:29has the Triple Crown, right? Yeah.
- 9:34So I mean, and that's what we talked about last time we talked
- 9:38about that. I appreciate that duo.
- 9:40Yeah, but I mean, that's what we talked about like that.
- 9:43That goes to show you what level of production that Bobby Witt's
- 9:50offering you, what the, the, the tier that he's playing in this
- 9:55year is. Because he's still, even with
- 9:57what Judge is doing this year, he's still in the same breath.
- 10:00He's in the same conversation. And if you look at what Judge is
- 10:04doing, it's being talked about plenty.
- 10:07If you're not familiar with what Aaron Judge is doing this year,
- 10:10educate yourselves. But what he's doing and the fact
- 10:16that Bobby Witt is, you know, being looped the, the MVP
- 10:21conversation as a whole is a, is a conversation that's I, I think
- 10:27most would say has somewhat of a clear answer.
- 10:29But the fact that he's just hanging out is, is impressive in
- 10:35and of itself. Codify Codify Baseball one of
- 10:40our favourites. I think we just land on codify.
- 10:42Codify Baseball entering Wednesday.
- 10:45Well, this is before his his He had a 28th home run today, but
- 10:48entering Wednesday. The tweet was as follows.
- 10:50Bobby Witt Junior 39 double S11 triples, 27 home runs and 27
- 10:54stolen bases this year. Again, that's that's adjusted
- 10:59now that he's played on Wednesday.
- 11:02He's the first big leaguer in history to hit all of those
- 11:04marks in a single season. Deese Deese.
- 11:13I mean between what Bobby Witt, Shohei Otani, Aaron Judge are
- 11:18like, we're seeing a lot of we're we're seeing a lot of
- 11:21first and we're seeing a lot of things that we haven't seen in a
- 11:24very, very, very, very, very, very, very long time.
- 11:28I'll throw a one more name out there.
- 11:32I think it's very fair to include Jaron Duran in that
- 11:35conversation as well. Jaron Duran, because I'm pretty
- 11:38sure they just read off something stupid that he did the
- 11:41other day that was like first player in MLB history to have
- 11:46this, this, this, this and this. JP Long on Twitter Jan Duran is
- 11:49the first player in MLB history to record at least 10 triples,
- 11:5220 home runs, thirty stolen bases and 40 double S in a
- 11:55season. The 10:20, 30-40 Club Classic.
- 11:58Everybody knows that. Who doesn't?
- 12:01I mean, that's that we're we're witnessing like I love that
- 12:06we're checking so many boxes in so many different categories
- 12:11with these guys, like between the speed and the defence and
- 12:16hitting for average in OPS, it's like, yeah, the home runs are
- 12:21impressive, but it's the fact that like everything else is
- 12:24being filled in and we're. Not just to the game.
- 12:27We're not just staring at a home run totals and comparing it like
- 12:31each one of these guys is just delivering some insane
- 12:36production in different ways. It's really cool, Really, really
- 12:40cool. The question needs to be asked,
- 12:47having talked about what we've talked about here, is his 11
- 12:52year, $288.8 million contract going to go down as one of the
- 12:59biggest thefts in baseball history?
- 13:04He's just stays healthy, man, because like the Acuna deal, I
- 13:09think is still the one that like everyone thinks about as far as
- 13:12theft, but injury wise, like it kind of balances things out.
- 13:19You know, this is I, I could see at least two or three MVPS.
- 13:29I really could. It just comes down to it.
- 13:35And I love of like how much room it gives the Royals to be able
- 13:40to build and support around him and like double down and like
- 13:44realize that this this year is not a fluke.
- 13:47What you're doing is not a fluke.
- 13:49You have to believe in that. You have to keep building on it.
- 13:53And you know, maybe some guys production like, no offense, but
- 13:58like, I don't think anyone saw Seth Lugo doing this then I'm
- 14:03sure they're not going to see him continuing to do this very
- 14:07long term. But like, you can start just
- 14:10filling in the cracks a little bit with what he's able to do.
- 14:13But you know what? Good on the Royals for
- 14:15recognizing the the potential here of the 2024 season.
- 14:19Unlike some other teams around the league, unlike a lot of
- 14:21teams in the league, the Royals looked at what they had coming
- 14:24into this season. They said, you know what, let's
- 14:26supplement that in the all season.
- 14:28Let's let's play it out to the deadline.
- 14:30And if we're still in the hunt, if if we're part of the
- 14:32conversation, part of the the the postseason conversation,
- 14:36let's make some additions at the deadline and supplement it even
- 14:38further. Good on the Royals for doing
- 14:40what every team should do in their situation.
- 14:43If you have talent, if you have an opportunity to make it to the
- 14:47postseason and not not put yourself in a hole by selling
- 14:52off too much or or over investing too much on the
- 14:55financial. And if you do it tastefully, if
- 14:56you do it tactfully, you can be in the conversation.
- 15:00And that's exactly where they are.
- 15:01They just closed the gap. I mean, they lost today against
- 15:05the Guardians, but they just closed the gap in the central.
- 15:09Took three out of four in that series.
- 15:10This whole time, yeah, this whole time we're sitting here
- 15:12talking about like, well, I mean, at the start of the season
- 15:15I had them pegged as the third wild card team, and there's a
- 15:18possibility that still happens. But they're like, yeah, no,
- 15:21we're good on that. We're actually more interested
- 15:23in the division. So good on them for following
- 15:27the blueprint that that they followed to this point that has
- 15:30put them in a in a position to not only make the postseason,
- 15:35but take the division in the process.
- 15:37So just want to give some, some kudos to the the Royals there
- 15:41for doing what they've done. Three wins back from the overall
- 15:46top record in baseball like that's.
- 15:49Come on, come on. I like it.
- 15:54I was high on the Royals. I, I, I just need to reiterate
- 15:57that. I need to reiterate that Last
- 16:02thing I'll say here on the Bobby Witt thing.
- 16:04I am most definitely excited for this September 9th, 10th and
- 16:1111th series against the Yankees in the Bronx because you're
- 16:15finally going to get once again the top two candidates in the
- 16:20MVP conversation for the American League on the same
- 16:22field for three games at a point in the season.
- 16:25That's going to be very pivotal for not just one, but for both
- 16:28teams. And I need to check what's what
- 16:35part of the week are we looking at there?
- 16:38That's that's rough that it's a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday.
- 16:41I was going to say, man, if we're if we're chalking this up
- 16:43for a weekend series, that's prime time baseball.
- 16:48But you know it's. Fun Daddy likes the midweek
- 16:51series, sometimes more so. Yeah, I'm not.
- 16:54I'm not going to lie with the way that my life and just yeah.
- 16:58Plans pan out over the course of a week.
- 17:01Weekies, wifey's want the weekend sometimes.
- 17:05Sometimes I don't get. I don't get the way.
- 17:07I don't get the viewing the way I want.
- 17:09You kind of check out and on the weekends at times and that's,
- 17:13it's understandable. That's when you get things done.
- 17:16Yeah, it's when you go places, but the.
- 17:17Weekend don't sucks for sure. I'll tell you what, what tops
- 17:21even a a week night series week day when you're at work and you
- 17:27have the ability to either be working from home.
- 17:30Or at the. Office and you can have a screen
- 17:32pulled up on the side that's prime.
- 17:35Let me tell you, that's what hits different on the West
- 17:37Coast. Like it's a 10:00 game.
- 17:41You're eating your. Wheaties over there watching a
- 17:43watching a day baseball game. I just started my work day,
- 17:47turning this game on. It like carries me into lunch.
- 17:50Like, all right, let me get some lunch.
- 17:53Yeah. And then it frees up your
- 17:54evening, so it's almost like a little boat.
- 17:57It's like an extra weekend day because you have a free night to
- 18:00do whatever you got to do. Let me tell you something.
- 18:02Beautiful. Beautiful.
- 18:05Yeah. I'm looking forward to that
- 18:06series. I'm also looking forward to
- 18:08seeing where this Juan Soto free agency winds up because shocker,
- 18:19Juan Soto has been been playing exceptionally well.
- 18:22The reports about him winding up with the Mets have resurfaced.
- 18:25Resurfaced for some reason. Not sure why, but shocker, the
- 18:30experts have him pegged with a big market team.
- 18:34That's crazy. A select A select few big market
- 18:38teams, one of which the I would say the the most popular sans
- 18:44Yankees would be the Mets. The Dodgers.
- 18:49You not really going to throw them into the mix.
- 18:52I. Don't think so.
- 18:55The Cubs maybe could afford to, the Dodgers could, or the the
- 18:59Angels I think could afford to. But.
- 19:01Giants. Some people are saying Jays.
- 19:10Stop. Yeah.
- 19:12Who are these people? I don't.
- 19:14I don't see my man going north of the border.
- 19:16You know what I mean? No disrespect to the You're
- 19:20going to to the Friends of the Great White North.
- 19:23Oh, you've slandered them on more than one occasion.
- 19:25So. Let's not act.
- 19:26Suck. Let's not all, let's not act
- 19:29all, all kind. Canadians, you're fake.
- 19:32You're not going to take a guy from the Dr. and and plug them
- 19:37in up there where you got nothing but Tim Horton's.
- 19:42What's tax? What are taxes like up there
- 19:44too, you know? I couldn't tell you.
- 19:46They probably don't have taxes. Do they have taxes in Canada?
- 19:49I don't know how these things. Work.
- 19:50I think they have a lot of taxes.
- 19:52Do they actually? Yeah, quick Google search, they
- 19:55don't pay for education Canadians.
- 19:58Have taxes? Yeah, they sure do.
- 20:02A. Lot of it.
- 20:04Canadians pay more taxes compared to those in the United
- 20:06States. There you go.
- 20:08Oh interesting. So they got quote, UN quote free
- 20:12everything, but got to pay more taxes.
- 20:15That's kind of how that tends to work.
- 20:18But anyway, we're not we're not getting we're not getting into
- 20:22economics or civics or whatever. Any who's where do you where do
- 20:26you think he winds up? I know, I mean, I know it's
- 20:28early. We still got we still got things
- 20:31that have to pan out, such as the way the Yankees post season,
- 20:37assuming they make it in, I don't know you're you're a
- 20:39little on the fence. Should they make it in how how
- 20:43that pans out, how that affects his perception of the I don't
- 20:48know. Do you do you think he's he's
- 20:50accumulated enough experience this year to to know what he
- 20:55would be getting into long term if he signed with the Yankees or
- 20:58do you think he needs to see something pan out in the
- 21:01postseason given their history dating back to 09?
- 21:05And I'm it's not a jab, it's a, it's a serious question.
- 21:12I think he's seen what he needs to see, I think.
- 21:19And the reason I asked is because if he sees, if he sees
- 21:22the Yankees get bounced in the in the ALDS yet again, again to,
- 21:27to to re reference the history going back to their last World
- 21:30Series O9. If he's just like, if this is
- 21:33all, if this is all it ever is here and he is after more rings,
- 21:36which at this point I don't. Maybe he is, maybe he isn't.
- 21:39He's got the ring already. Maybe he's just after the
- 21:41contract. But let's just say
- 21:42hypothetically he is after the rings.
- 21:45Do you think he's going to look at the Yankees and go, I don't
- 21:47know if this is my best place to do that?
- 21:49I think that's exactly the way he's looking at it.
- 21:52When you talk about the other teams, Cubs, Angels, Giants,
- 21:56Mets, yeah, the Yankees probably given the best shot out of those
- 22:02teams. But we were talking about this a
- 22:05little bit in the in the group chat with with the the fantasy
- 22:08league. Couple things to mention here is
- 22:13that like there's a Judge shadow and that's a big shadow.
- 22:21And I like, I like Soto a lot. Like to sit here and say there's
- 22:30no ego involved in this mix would be silly.
- 22:35That's a part of the equation. And I'm sure there's a level of
- 22:40him that's like, I want to be the guy, not the other guy,
- 22:47right? And then that's where like
- 22:49priorities are going to be shown.
- 22:50If you go to Queens, that tells me all I need to know about you,
- 22:54you know, because the Mets are the Mets, and we can't sit here
- 22:59and say that they're going to be in a better position than the
- 23:01Yankees. And then on the other hand,
- 23:06you're like, he's having one of his best offensive years of his
- 23:11career with Judge behind him. Is there a correlation there?
- 23:19Probably. So it's like, do you want to
- 23:22continue to have years like this with a guy like that behind you,
- 23:27understanding that there is a team that's at least going to,
- 23:31whether they're delusional or not, go after, you know, a
- 23:36championship every year. They do give themselves a shot,
- 23:40whether it's the best shot. One could sit here and argue
- 23:42that, but they do give themselves a shot every year.
- 23:45Yeah, yeah, that'll give them. But you mentioned the ego and I
- 23:50think that's a that's a very an important point to look at.
- 23:55Here is one thing I would have loved to have seen this year for
- 24:00more reasons than one. I would have loved to see the
- 24:03Yankees really hit a slide this year to the point where we're
- 24:07dipping down until like the bottom half.
- 24:09The division for the most part, they've been at sure, But they
- 24:13they had built themselves up in a nice enough cushion to wear
- 24:16even a little skid here. There wasn't going to affect
- 24:18them too much For most of the year.
- 24:20They've been at or near the top of the division.
- 24:23You mentioned ego. Going back to that point, I
- 24:26would have loved to have seen a major dip for the Yankees this
- 24:29year to see how Soto and Judge would mix.
- 24:33I'm sure Judge would give you the the utmost professionalism,
- 24:37win or lose. He seems to do that one way or
- 24:41another more often than not. But having Soto in that
- 24:45clubhouse as well, he would be the guy that I would want to
- 24:48have my eye on when, when things head South for an extended
- 24:51period of time. Again, we're talking like
- 24:53dipping down to the bottom half of the bottom half of the
- 24:56division. We haven't really gotten that.
- 24:58So it it's it's all fine and dandy when when Soto's looking
- 25:02around going, you know, like it's nice.
- 25:04I got judged behind me. Like we're we're winning ball
- 25:06games. I'm having a one of my career
- 25:09years. But if things head South and,
- 25:14and you've got two dudes that are vying to be the dude and,
- 25:18and I know judges hands down like the dude in New York, but
- 25:22Soto, I would imagine, would like to think that he is around
- 25:27that echelon as well. So I, it would be interesting to
- 25:30see what, how that pans out. And maybe the postseason gives
- 25:33us a little glimpse of that. If, if, if that's what ends up
- 25:35happening, like if they end up in the postseason and just fall
- 25:37flat on their face. Yeah.
- 25:40I would be, I'd be curious to see what he's what how how he
- 25:43responds. I think, I think the the Yankees
- 25:46are going to have a cap on their number.
- 25:49I think they're going to have a number in mind.
- 25:53I think you're going to see over 13 years.
- 25:56I think you're going to see thirteen years or higher.
- 25:59Passen wrote recently that the floor or I should say the the
- 26:04industry agrees that the floor for his contract will be 500
- 26:08million, which I think I think is is a safe assumption, some
- 26:14speculating that it could be it could top 600 million I.
- 26:21Mean if you do 500,000,000 / 13 years it's 38 mill a year out of
- 26:3214th year 35. Well, the other thing too is I
- 26:37with the way this past offseason went, I'm curious to see what
- 26:40happens this coming offseason because you saw.
- 26:43Specifically. Yeah, well.
- 26:44Not just with Boris, but just the market in general.
- 26:46Like you saw both ends of the extreme.
- 26:48You saw the Dodgers, for example, write off over a
- 26:52billion dollars in checks. And then you see you see other
- 26:55teams try to try to call some Bluffs on on on behalf of some
- 27:00guys and hopefully one or two that we'll we'll touch on a
- 27:03little later. So I don't like, I don't know
- 27:07what that means for a guy like Soto, where you're going to have
- 27:09him in that historic contract level of discussion, trying to
- 27:15get the biggest bag he can. How does the how does the the
- 27:19baseball economy, if you will, the baseball market bounce back
- 27:22after seeing the way things shook out this past offseason?
- 27:26It'll be. It'll be interesting to see.
- 27:28But think about like the other thing too.
- 27:30Is that how much younger he is than Judge, right?
- 27:32He's 24. True, yeah.
- 27:34So like, even if judge, you know, does play the rest of his
- 27:38contract out and rides off into the sunset.
- 27:42So do, by the way, 25. He'll be 26 in October.
- 27:48I can see 14 years. I really could, you know, just
- 27:51ride this thing out to 40 and and understand that like you do
- 27:59get to be the guy eventually when Judge retires.
- 28:01It's just you're not necessarily as deep into your prime as you
- 28:06are now, which I don't even know if this is his prime.
- 28:09Just insane to say. Well, as great of years he's
- 28:13having right now, it's only going to get better because his
- 28:16I was looking at some numbers his ability to hit both for
- 28:20contact and power historically over the course of his career,
- 28:25those both take leaps forward when the calendar turns to
- 28:30September, both his average and OPS both take approximately 20
- 28:34point jumps respectively from August to September.
- 28:40So his resume that he's going to take into the offseason in the
- 28:43free agency is only one can assume going to improve.
- 28:47So that'll that'll make for that much more of an interesting
- 28:52conversation. So Speaking of interesting
- 28:55conversation, switch gears here. Talk about the NL Cy Young race
- 29:00between what I believe and what I would think most people would
- 29:04agree is a two man race at this point in time.
- 29:10Chris Sale and Zach Wheeler to beasts in the NL East.
- 29:19One could say who do you have? Who do you have right now as
- 29:23your I mean, again, we still have what a handful of starts
- 29:26left for for either candidate. But as it sounds right now,
- 29:32who's your Cy Young I? Saw a graphic on Twitter today.
- 29:36I'm just trying to find it. I remember who it was through
- 29:38but it was it with like the. 4 presumed candidates Yeah, it was
- 29:44Ronaldo. I got that pulled up for you.
- 29:45Ronaldo Lopez, Zach Wheeler if you want to.
- 29:47If you're interested in expanding the conversation
- 29:50beyond Zach Wheeler and Chris Sale, you could look at Ronaldo
- 29:53Lopez, Zach Wheeler, Chris Sale, and even Paul Skins, who if
- 29:57anything, is just an add on for the conversation.
- 29:59Maybe for comparison's sake, just to kind of look at some
- 30:06numbers between the four, Ronaldo Lopez does have the ERA
- 30:11advantage between those four, but does not have the innings
- 30:16and really doesn't have much else beyond the ERA.
- 30:20So I don't necessarily know if that's going to be the
- 30:25individual receiving the award, which is why I believe it's
- 30:27between Zach Wheeler, Chris Sales.
- 30:29Zach Wheeler as of today has made 26 starts, 160 2/3 innings.
- 30:36He's 12 and six. He's got an ERA of 274, ERA plus
- 30:41of 150 and has 176 strikeouts to 4545 walks.
- 30:47Chris Sale on the other hand is 14 and three.
- 30:52He's made 24 starts, so two fewer than Wheeler.
- 30:56He's thrown 147 and 2/3 innings, So what?
- 31:0113 fewer than Wheeler, yeah, ERA 262, so lower than Wheeler's ERA
- 31:09plus A158, which is 8 higher than Wheeler's 150.
- 31:13And he has 191 strikeouts, which leads that entire group.
- 31:18And as as per usual, when Chris Sale is on, he has the advantage
- 31:22in AKA percentage and the walk percentage, which is the case
- 31:25this year. So personally, I think you look
- 31:30at Chris sales numbers and you go as of right now, I.
- 31:36Would presume favorite This could change in just a few
- 31:39starts. You know, you never know.
- 31:41But if he goes 8 strong in a few starts and then we're we're kind
- 31:45of back to. Which he's fully capable of
- 31:47doing. Yeah, Yeah.
- 31:48But I think if you, if you take what Chris Sale has, if you take
- 31:53the the body of work he's presented or produced to this
- 31:59point, you look at that and go slight edge.
- 32:03But it's really hard, at least for me.
- 32:06I won't speak for you or anybody else.
- 32:07For me, it's really hard to look at what Chris Sale has done this
- 32:11year and not include the bias or the the I just call it unfair
- 32:19advantage in in the fact that this is truly a bounce back
- 32:25season for Chris Sale. Like he is returned to Chris
- 32:28Sale form. And I know, I know for these
- 32:31awards that I I would imagine that the writers try to look at
- 32:34it through the lens of a vacuum. But it's really hard for me to
- 32:39look at what Chris Sale is doing and and not include the fact
- 32:43that, Oh yeah, by the way, this is like his first Cy Young
- 32:48Worthy campaign in years. Yeah.
- 32:52And he's doing it with a new team, and he's helping keep said
- 32:55team afloat. Say what you will about.
- 32:59Somewhat relevant, yeah. Yeah, say what you will about
- 33:01the Braves postseason chances this year, the way the season's
- 33:05gone to this point with injuries and all that, but has helped
- 33:07keep them afloat. It's it's really hard to give to
- 33:13give Wheeler the the edge here given that.
- 33:20Oh, so the innings? I mean, we have, what, five
- 33:28starts left? Everything stays on schedule.
- 33:34We're hitting September calendar turns of September on what,
- 33:38Sunday? Yeah.
- 33:42Sunday, yeah, so call it yeah, I don't I mean, I don't know where
- 33:48these guys are at in the in regards to their return and the
- 33:51rotation, but yeah, I would say 5:00-ish.
- 33:57And also too depending upon I mean I'm, I'm not going to sit
- 34:00here and say that teams in baseball would be adhering to
- 34:06some sort of load management. But specifically, if you look at
- 34:09Chris Sale, like maybe we do give him like an extra day here
- 34:13or there, maybe even skip a start getting closer to the end
- 34:17of the year, I don't know. But yeah, we can call it 5.
- 34:22And then based on these numbers, you can say that they're
- 34:24probably going to, they're around like 6 innings a start
- 34:29ish. So we can add another 30 innings
- 34:35to these numbers. I, I'm a sucker for innings.
- 34:39I, I, it's, it's kind of depressing to me that and will
- 34:44likely not really have too many names, if any, over 200 innings.
- 34:49I mean, if you if you tack on 30 innings right now to Wheeler
- 34:51Summers, he's at he's at 190 and 2/3.
- 34:54So he's pushing 200. Yeah, you should just be the
- 34:59standard. But anyway, yeah, I mean the K
- 35:02rate, the the walks being less, I think that's important, I
- 35:12think. Eileen, Chris Sale, ever so
- 35:14slightly. Would you agree with me though
- 35:17on the whole like bounce back season bias element that plays
- 35:21there? Because I just feel like it's
- 35:22really hard to look at this and not take that into account.
- 35:26Or does that not matter to you as much?
- 35:34I think it will matter in the voting and I don't know, like
- 35:37for me, I don't think it's as I think it's great.
- 35:40I think he's a lock for comeback player of the year.
- 35:48Yeah, I think there will be. I think voters are obviously
- 35:51going to take that into account. It's understandable coming from
- 35:55me because having watched the way his career has panned out
- 35:59over the last handful of years, there there is that.
- 36:02Just like it was tough. Like where do you where do you
- 36:04draw that line? You know what I mean?
- 36:06Like if Judge does, you know, this kind of year at the age of
- 36:1339, are we like, Dang, he's doing this at 39?
- 36:17Like, is that a part of the equation?
- 36:21I just think like circumstantially, you have to
- 36:25draw the line somewhere. No.
- 36:27And I'm, I'm not, I'm not even really talking about his.
- 36:28Age, I guess I'm just saying that like we're doing that
- 36:33because of where he's been in his career and like, I don't
- 36:37know, it's. He just hasn't been able to stay
- 36:40on the field. But then it's like changes
- 36:42teams, changes cities, changes environments, and then he
- 36:46finally gets on the field for just about a full season and he
- 36:51does, he does this. It's like and like and like I
- 36:55said, I'm surprised, but at the same time I'm not because it's
- 37:00like, am I blown away at the fact that he's been able to sell
- 37:03stay primarily healthy this year?
- 37:05Absolutely. But am I surprised that given
- 37:07that he was able to do what he's done?
- 37:10No, because when he is healthy and on and locked in, this is
- 37:13what he does so. Yeah.
- 37:16Then he can very well get, yeah, I mean, 200 and 22125 strikeouts
- 37:24potentially in that range if he if he can really turn it on and
- 37:28it's pretty high, maybe like 2/10, 2:15.
- 37:31But either way, good for him, good for Chris Sale, what could
- 37:40have been for the Braves, You know what I mean?
- 37:42If that if this rotation stayed healthy.
- 37:44No kidding. Like, I mean no disrespect to
- 37:47Renato Lopez here in this conversation, but he is in that
- 37:49graphic. He is doing well.
- 37:51And this is like his first year as a starter.
- 37:54And then, you know, if Strider stays healthy, Freed stays
- 37:57healthy, like that's like a you could argue that's one of the
- 38:00best rotations in baseball when it's going.
- 38:04So what could have been? It's too bad.
- 38:08Too bad. Can we talk about this?
- 38:13Jordan Montgomery, Blake Snell Scott Boris saga Mr. Salty
- 38:21Jordan Montgomery. Yeah.
- 38:23Comes out I, I don't want to talk poorly about a guy, but
- 38:28when, when they just put it up on a tee for you, it's like
- 38:31what, what are we really doing? Have you seen some of his recent
- 38:34pressors? Like after like post game, they
- 38:38just have him in front of the locker to ask him questions.
- 38:41He's been, he's been kind of like, I don't want to say whiny,
- 38:48but he's just been short with some people recently.
- 38:51And I get it. He's he's frustrated with the
- 38:52way the year's gone. But I'm like, dude, and I think
- 38:57this was kind of Blake Snell's point where he's like, dude, you
- 38:59kind of made your own bed here. Like, sure, Boris maybe didn't
- 39:04lock down the deal for you, but you it was your choice to to
- 39:08sign where you signed and that's that.
- 39:11But a little context here if you're unfamiliar with what's
- 39:14going on, basically last week, which I don't know if you knew
- 39:20this, he got, did you see he got the motive to the pen.
- 39:22I did. That's what makes this tough.
- 39:24Yeah, it's it's hard to hard to it's.
- 39:26Not a good look. Yeah, hard to digest here, but
- 39:29it got the motive to the pen and talked essentially talked about
- 39:34how Boris butchered his offseason and and his chances of
- 39:39of locking down the deal that he was after he said, quote, I
- 39:47don't know, obviously Boris kind of butchered it.
- 39:49So I'm just trying to move on from the offseason, try to
- 39:51forget it. And then you had Blake Snell,
- 39:54who by which if you recall, Jordan Montgomery let let Boris
- 39:57go as his agent. Snell, on the other hand, is a
- 40:01Boris client and still has Boris as his agent.
- 40:07He respond, he bounced back in in defense of Boris and said
- 40:10I've seen how Montgomery struggled, but he signed the
- 40:13deal that he ultimately wanted to sign.
- 40:16He has the choice. I don't know what other deals he
- 40:18was offered, but I know everything that was offered to
- 40:20me. It's just sad that he thinks the
- 40:23way or he thinks that way when I see Scott as a very honorable
- 40:27man, which maybe you're, you're dead on there.
- 40:31I think till the very end. I don't know the guy personally,
- 40:33but from all accounts, Scott Boris is Scott Boris.
- 40:39Snelly trying to get paid this offseason.
- 40:41So he's strategically this is very political.
- 40:48The Montgomery comments. Man, it's just tough because
- 40:52it's like, I do understand what you're saying and we talked
- 40:55about like pictures are more so creature habits than creatures
- 41:00of habit than anything any other position and to not have your
- 41:05spring training, you know, and you're the one that's committed
- 41:14to this agency. You're the one that decided to
- 41:16go with this agency. And you're, you know, like it's
- 41:19not like you're being surprised by Boris antics.
- 41:24It's not like you're being caught, you know, out of nowhere
- 41:28for what he does and he maximizes his clients contracts.
- 41:32That's how he operates. That's how he's always
- 41:34operating. Or dies trying.
- 41:36Yeah. And look, do I agree with?
- 41:39No. Do I agree with how things were
- 41:42handled this offseason and like keeping guys out of spring
- 41:45training and outside of Blake Snell, like when you look at
- 41:50Jordan Montgomery and Cody Bellinger both being so late
- 41:53with their deals and being Boris clients, it's like it's hard to
- 41:58say that it didn't play a factor in this year's performance.
- 42:04I I think it's difficult for for Jordan to do that as he's being
- 42:12demoted to the bullpen. You know what I mean?
- 42:14But I don't know, I don't. I also don't love the timing of
- 42:18the comments with what the Diamondbacks are doing at the at
- 42:22the moment and like how hot they are.
- 42:24It's like, brother, like say this in the offseason, but like
- 42:28now you're just bringing unnecessary attention to
- 42:33yourself when you're already struggling and the team is
- 42:37succeeding. They just piped out.
- 42:40In in, in one of those post game pressors where they they had him
- 42:43in front of his locker. He did he did mention that he
- 42:47was tired of talking about it. He was like, this is like the
- 42:505th or 6th time you guys have asked me about this.
- 42:52So I the the frustration was visible but at the same.
- 42:56Time, it's like tough though, is that like, look, look at the
- 42:59world we exist in right now, like everyone, No one's going to
- 43:02listen to that part. We're only going to see this
- 43:05little clip and this little quote on Twitter and that's what
- 43:08everyone goes off of. And it's just like, I don't
- 43:12know. Yeah, but like you, I feel like
- 43:14we learned. It's so.
- 43:18Hard. I want to say that we learned a
- 43:20lot about Jordan Montgomery this offseason because it's like, OK,
- 43:24you can sit here in late August and tell me that like, you don't
- 43:30want this to be about you and you just want to focus on on
- 43:33pitching in whatever role that the Diamondbacks grant you.
- 43:37But like, have some awareness, Jordan, like you are the one
- 43:43that took this, these negotiations up to just shy of
- 43:48opening day. Most guys when they sign in the
- 43:51offseason do it months earlier. But you and you can sit here and
- 43:55point fingers at Scott Boris all you want, but you have the
- 43:57freedom to make a decision if you're just like, hey, let's,
- 44:02let's, let's cut ties on this pursuit of, of, of a contract
- 44:05that this lucrative contract that I'm after.
- 44:08And let's just get something done so I can get my feet wet.
- 44:11I can get in, get my routine going so that I'm ready for
- 44:14opening day. No, you were the guy that was
- 44:16like, no, we're going to run this up to opening day, even
- 44:19past opening day if we have to, because I'm in pursuit of that
- 44:22money, which I, I can appreciate you want to get what you feel
- 44:25that you're worth. But like I, it's hard for me to
- 44:28to hear you say, well, I I'm tired of talking about this.
- 44:31I'm tired of making this about me.
- 44:33I just want to focus on the team and what?
- 44:35And in the same in the same season, just months earlier, you
- 44:40were you were running, milking this for all that it was worth.
- 44:43So I don't know, it's just hard for me to hear that.
- 44:45That's just me. Yeah, it's weird, man.
- 44:49We, we have like this fine line of like we get tired of the
- 44:53politically correct, copy and paste answers that we get from
- 44:56athletes. And sometimes we want them to
- 44:59just be real. I don't, I don't think it's
- 45:02super fair of us to like ridicule a guy when he is real.
- 45:07You know what I mean? And it's, it's a difficult line
- 45:10to, to tell. And I just, I don't know, for
- 45:14me, I'm like the timing of this around what the Diamondbacks are
- 45:20doing and the fact that you're struggling and you just got
- 45:22demoted to the bullpen when you clearly sign this bigger
- 45:26contract to be a front of the line starter.
- 45:29It's like this isn't the best time to throw shade.
- 45:32You know what I mean? Why don't you just stay in your
- 45:34own lane and worry about your own your own progress here?
- 45:40Speaking of progress, didn't take long for Jason Hayward to
- 45:44get back on his feet. He is with the Houston Astros
- 45:49after finalizing the deal, was DFA last week by the Dodgers and
- 45:56will now provide some help in the outfield for a team that as
- 46:00we've talked about, comeback was inevitable.
- 46:03They're they're here to stay. They are going to be a force in
- 46:06the post season when that time comes and now they have a little
- 46:09bit of added depth to help them in that chase.
- 46:18I told you, man, what did I say? That there was going to be this,
- 46:21there was going to be some big post season moment that he has.
- 46:23There's going to be some clutch J hey moment, some big defence
- 46:30play or it's this clutch home run or something man.
- 46:34There's there's going to be a way that he can contribute and
- 46:38he's been around the block. He's a good baseball mind.
- 46:41He's a hard worker. He's a hustler like you can, and
- 46:46you can see this biting some other teams in the booty across
- 46:50the league. Freaking Astros, man.
- 46:54Just had to be with the Astros. Yeah.
- 46:57Speaking of the American League West, Jacob degrom now has two
- 47:03rehab appearances in the books, correct?
- 47:07Or was this last one his first one?
- 47:10No say. Either way, threw two scoreless
- 47:14for Round Rock 24 pitches, 16 strikes and he was pushing 199.5
- 47:26on the gun, so the conversation of.
- 47:34Too late. Is it is there even any point in
- 47:37him doing this? That's I mean you can have that
- 47:39conversation another day, but the reality is that he seems he
- 47:43seems to be in in in decent shape seems like he is right
- 47:48around the corner from being as healthy as he can be at this
- 47:54stage of his career. So maybe we get a little taste
- 47:57of of that before season's end. And I, I think for him, the, the
- 48:05narrative there, the reasoning there might be that he, he just
- 48:09wants to log some Indians going into this offseason, know what
- 48:12he know where he's at, know what he needs to build off of.
- 48:17And, and use whatever sample size he's able to accrue that at
- 48:21the end of the season here or towards the end of the season.
- 48:25And use that as a as a launching pad for 2025 where hopefully we
- 48:31get a healthy Jacob degrom. But you never know.
- 48:34Yeah, yeah, too late for me. 10 games under 510 games back in
- 48:40the West, 11 games back in the wild card.
- 48:44They are dead in the water, but. No doubt, no doubt, but this is
- 48:48this is more for him personal development.
- 48:51Yeah, yeah, I hope. I hope he comes back, man.
- 48:59I hope he. I hope he does the ground
- 49:01things. I hope training wheels
- 49:03eventually come off and we don't have to sit here and talk about,
- 49:07you know, any kind of innings limit or you don't worry about
- 49:11pitch counts or whatever. I'd like to just see him be what
- 49:14he used to be. We saw for we saw for Chris
- 49:17Sale, right? So Chris Sale can do it.
- 49:20So can you. I don't know.
- 49:23I hope one can help. Speaking of hoping, the woman
- 49:29who was shot in the leg last year at a White Sox game is
- 49:32hoping that she can acquire some cash from the from the club.
- 49:38She is. She has sued the White Sox for
- 49:41the the incident last August in a game against the A's, which I
- 49:46know we covered and we're rather confused by.
- 49:51She hid the gun in her fat rolls.
- 49:53Yes, that's where I'm confused. Brought the gun in under her fat
- 49:59rolls and then get shot. Is it the same lady that we're
- 50:03talking about here? Like is the lady that suing the
- 50:06same lady that had the fat rolls for lack of a better way of
- 50:10saying it and had the gun under there?
- 50:14Is that the same lady? Because if so, what are we even
- 50:17talking about here? Why is this even being
- 50:19presented? I.
- 50:20Don't know this. Is as a serious conversation.
- 50:242024 man, it's that's so disappointing.
- 50:30It has to. Do you have a name?
- 50:36I just have ages of names. I don't see a name here.
- 50:40But the lawsuit itself I was reading, I believe this was from
- 50:45like a Fox Sports article. It says the lawsuit maintains
- 50:49that the White Sox in the Illinois Sports Facilities
- 50:52Authority failed to enforce a stadium prohibition on firearms
- 50:57and protect attendees from foreseeable dangers.
- 51:00She's seeking more than 50K in damages.
- 51:03Sure, sure. Is she 42?
- 51:0842 Yep. This is the same chick.
- 51:10On August 29th, 2023, a woman reportedly hid a gun in her
- 51:14belly fat, then snuck it past metal detectors and Guaranteed
- 51:18Rate field in Chicago to attend a White Sox against Oakland A's
- 51:22game. The gun accidentally discharged
- 51:25during the 4th inning, injuring two women. 42 year old woman
- 51:28shot in the leg and taken to the hospital and 26 year old woman
- 51:33grazed in the abdomen and refused medical treatment.
- 51:48I mean, is this America in 2024? Sneaks a gut look dude.
- 51:55What's scary is that if there's no precedent or if there is
- 51:59precedent. Can I?
- 52:01No, hold on. I need to make money here.
- 52:03I need to say this out loud again, just so I know that I'm
- 52:07not going crazier, that I'm missing something.
- 52:10A woman sneaks a gun into a stadium under her fat rolls.
- 52:16The gun goes off, she gets shot and then sues the team of which
- 52:24she's watching for failing to prevent guns being brought into
- 52:31the stadium and from keeping fans safe.
- 52:36To be a family in that courtroom, I would do anything.
- 52:45I, I don't even know what I'm saying right now.
- 52:47I, I legitimately don't. I, I, I can't, I, I can't deal
- 52:51with people anymore, man. It's crazy.
- 52:54Like, did you hear what I just said?
- 52:57And you just know, stuff like this goes on on a much like
- 53:00smaller scale all the time around around not just the
- 53:02country, just the world. If this wasn't, if this didn't
- 53:05have like, the White Sox attached to the story, we'd
- 53:08never hear about it. But.
- 53:09This would be like a a normal Tuesday in Florida like it this
- 53:12is this is just the world we live in.
- 53:15I guess that's all I really had weekend series watch real quick.
- 53:20I, I forgot to remind you to find one, but there are, there
- 53:23are some good series going on, but mine is going to be the
- 53:26Braves at the at the Phillies. As of or entering Wednesday, the
- 53:32Braves are six games back. This is a four-game series.
- 53:35So say what you will about the Braves, say what you will about
- 53:42the Phillies, say what you will about my feelings about those
- 53:45respective teams. This is an opportunity for the
- 53:47Phillies to put the Braves underground for good officially.
- 53:51Game one Thursday, Charlie Morton versus Christopher
- 53:56Sanchez at 6:40 PM Eastern. Game two we have Reynaldo Lopez
- 54:01versus Ranger Suarez at 6:40 PM Eastern Game 3 Nate.
- 54:08Usually I, I try to like identify a game of the series to
- 54:11watch. I, I, I genuinely think this
- 54:14whole series is must watch TV. Game two I already mentioned
- 54:18game three we have Max Reed versus Zach Wheeler 7:15 PM
- 54:21Eastern on Fox that's on Saturday and game 4 Spencer
- 54:26Schwellenbach who is pitching very, very well is going up
- 54:29against Aaron Nola Sunday night baseball ESPN 7:00 PM Eastern.
- 54:36That is my series to watch this weekend.
- 54:39Give. Me.
- 54:43Give me Dodgers coming to Phoenix.
- 54:46I was hoping you'd go that. This is this is just this is
- 54:51exactly what you want if you're a Diamondbacks fan.
- 54:55If you're a fan of the Snakes game one on free day, Kershaw
- 55:01Gallon, that might have to be the one.
- 55:05I don't know if they go to that shoot game dude.
- 55:09Get to a game this weekend, that's that's good baseball,
- 55:12right? There Game 2, Gavin Stone going
- 55:16against Meryl Kelly, that's on Saturday, Sunday Flaherty going
- 55:25against P Fat to start September.
- 55:29Some good matchups there, I like that.
- 55:31I'm Yeah, What is that? What were the standings again?
- 55:34Let me pull that back up. What three games back?
- 55:40They are three games back. Yeah, Yeah, man, this is is it
- 55:48right here. This is like this is a statement
- 55:50series for either team. I mean, if the Dodgers managed
- 55:54to take two out of three and really give them, that's a big
- 55:57cushion. You know, five games is a big
- 56:00cushion in September. But the Diamondbacks can do a
- 56:06little something, something, get it to 1 1/2, something like that
- 56:111. Barring a sweep from the
- 56:14Dodgers, it's not really do or die necessarily for either team.
- 56:19Like I think even like two or three either way or even a sweep
- 56:23from the D backs. It's things are still like we're
- 56:25still up in the air heading into September.
- 56:29But yeah, I mean, I think you said it best.
- 56:32This is a this is a statement series.
- 56:34This is a a signature series potentially for for either team.
- 56:38So big baseball this weekend. But it's almost September guys
- 56:45like it's we're almost there to just we've.
- 56:48Almost made it. September is going to be
- 56:51September is awesome, by the way, like football starting up.
- 56:56I think October's the best. But little.
- 56:59Bias there. I know, but it like it just gets
- 57:02you going. Oh boy, October does hit because
- 57:05then you're like, you're fully into like chilly weather, you
- 57:08know what I mean? You're in hoodies and chilly
- 57:09weather. Oh yeah.
- 57:11I can't wait to make chili. Love making chili?
- 57:16Well, Speaking of dinner, let's let's knock out a game here real
- 57:19quick before we get to that. OK, it's been a while.
- 57:22It's. Been a minute.
- 57:23We talked about. I've been trying hard to keep
- 57:26these episodes under an hour, by the way, so I'm I'm, I'm
- 57:29sacrificing a little bit here, but you know, it's the end of
- 57:32the week. Yeah, let's let's loosen the
- 57:35ties a little bit. Do.
- 57:36You remember what we established last time, a rule change.
- 57:41You can't start with somebody. No, that rule was already there.
- 57:47I thought we talked. I thought we talked possibly
- 57:50doing active or retired. Did we?
- 57:55Did we? What do you?
- 57:57Expand. What do you mean?
- 57:59Establishing establishing that before we start.
- 58:05Oh, like like which arrow we're starting with retired or or
- 58:10active and then it's free game from that point is what you're
- 58:13saying? Or like, no, no, it was like,
- 58:18yeah, yeah, it's free. Not like the whole time.
- 58:21I think it I think we said like we go each one like you do
- 58:27active, I do retired, but we have to like establish saying
- 58:30which one we're going to go with.
- 58:32Oh, so we're like splitting, like we have to go one and one.
- 58:36Yeah. Man, I tell you what, the rule
- 58:39the the. I like.
- 58:41That the requirements for these players to get into our, say,
- 58:45the same name player Hall of Fame.
- 58:49Yeah, They change week to week, it seems so like this is a wild
- 58:55Hall of Fame, but it's one that I think many, most, if not all
- 59:00would would be honored to be a part of.
- 59:02I agree. I think we got, what, four or
- 59:04five guys in there right now? Yeah.
- 59:07So do you like that? I like.
- 59:11It I like it. I think it just starts us a
- 59:17little further. We're yeah, but we're like
- 59:19teetering into like a Manfred Ball where we're we're starting
- 59:22to put too much legislation into the game and.
- 59:25Into this this is the. This is the last one.
- 59:28All right, OK. I'll go.
- 59:32And obviously the previous rule that is fully established is
- 59:36cannot start this game with a name that we've already
- 59:42mentioned this episode. This episode, not any episode,
- 59:45this episode. This one.
- 59:47This one specifically. That recall would be impossible.
- 59:51You're. An active or retired.
- 59:53I'll take active. You'll take active, I'll take
- 59:56retired. I know you like the vintage era.
- 1:00:00I do. Let's roll.
- 1:00:03All right, well, I mean, off the top here, we can just we can
- 1:00:06just let it rip. Hold on, let me think here.
- 1:00:10Got my got my soundboard up now I'm going to go.
- 1:00:19Let's make this let's make this first pick fun, you know?
- 1:00:22Yeah. All right, I got a guy.
- 1:00:30All right, ready. Did we decide are we going?
- 1:00:36Are we limiting ourselves to five picks?
- 1:00:39No, I don't think that's fair. Oh my.
- 1:00:42Gosh, so it's 10 if we need it, it's. 10 if we need.
- 1:00:45It all right? Well, we're going to need to be
- 1:00:46quick then, because 10-10 can run on for some.
- 1:00:49Time we'll play the music you got to.
- 1:00:51I'm not doing the music in between, no, it stresses me out.
- 1:00:55It does. It does me.
- 1:00:56Too, and it's too long. We need to, we need to keep it.
- 1:00:59Keep it tight, finding your song maybe?
- 1:01:01Maybe I'll work on that. OK.
- 1:01:03All right. 321 Bryson, Scott. A bully.
- 1:01:14All right, it could have been worse.
- 1:01:15It could have been. Worse, now we're all off.
- 1:01:17Here we are. We are off and running.
- 1:01:18Off and running here. All right, Bryson Stott, Greg
- 1:01:23Maddox. All right, I got a guy.
- 1:01:32I guess I got a guy. 321 Curt Chili.
- 1:01:41All right, we're getting there. Chase Utley and Curt Schilling.
- 1:01:48I mean, we're zeroing in like right off the top here, I think.
- 1:01:54Chase Utley and Curt Schilling. Aw, man.
- 1:02:08All right, Maybe we're not zeroing in as much as I
- 1:02:09initially thought. Well, I mean the the
- 1:02:15circumstances surrounding these players or or zeroing in maybe
- 1:02:18not the the players themselves, but.
- 1:02:21It's the connection. The connections are being made.
- 1:02:25That's two guesses. Curt Schilling and Chase Sutley.
- 1:02:32All right, I got a guy. Oh, I got a guy is.
- 1:02:36It obvious don't. Ask me that.
- 1:02:39Just just just play the game. You have to play the game
- 1:02:57if you're going to dilly dally, if you're going to bojangle, I'm
- 1:02:59going to need I'm going to need to kick it into another gear
- 1:03:02here. So organ music it is.
- 1:03:06All right, whatever. I don't know.
- 1:03:08I got one I guess. Two guesses in this is our 3rd
- 1:03:11guest, 321 Jimmy Roy Holiday. All right, this is just going to
- 1:03:19be the All Philly, all Philly game.
- 1:03:21OK? All right, three guesses under
- 1:03:24the belt. This will be our 4th Roy
- 1:03:27Holiday. Jimmy Rollins.
- 1:03:30I got a guy. Got a guy?
- 1:03:32321 Ryan Howard All right, I think 4 is tied for record.
- 1:03:45You got a stab record. The one doesn't even really
- 1:03:47count. Almost.
- 1:03:49True. Yeah, Well, it does.
- 1:03:51I mean, you're laying the foundation there with that
- 1:03:53guess. Like you could you could really
- 1:03:55screw up the game and the integrity of it if you just go
- 1:03:57way off the off the grid. Like if you just would have
- 1:04:02dropped like a Hack Wilson in there.
- 1:04:04What am I going to do with that? Nothing.
- 1:04:06So there's some strategy there. It's true.
- 1:04:10Some big strategy there. All right, Well done, Ryan
- 1:04:12Howard, welcome to the Say the Name Hall of Fame.
- 1:04:16Big club, big, big club. I think he's our.
- 1:04:20I want to say he's our fifth. I'll have to double check, maybe
- 1:04:246th. It's a prestigious club.
- 1:04:28It is. Very prestigious club.
- 1:04:31All right, well done. We didn't go.
- 1:04:32We were not too bad time wise. I thought I'm saying we would
- 1:04:36have lingered on there, but we were.
- 1:04:38We were short and sweet there. Well done.
- 1:04:39Ryan Howard, welcome to the club.
- 1:04:41You got anything else for the people?
- 1:04:42I don't think so. I love you all.
- 1:04:46You're you're all great. Thanks for hanging out in the
- 1:04:48chat. If you're doing that, I think
- 1:04:53maybe, you know, if you'd, if you'd like to join the party a
- 1:04:56little bit more, get into YouTube if you want to join the
- 1:05:00live, we got that rolling now. We got Twitter going, we got
- 1:05:05Instagram going, we got Facebook going.
- 1:05:09So there's a lot of different ways to participate and hang
- 1:05:12out, and yeah, we'd appreciate it.
- 1:05:17So that's all she wrote. Don't go chasing curveballs.
- 1:05:22Have a great weekend, we love you all and as always, looking
- 1:05:24forward to talking more baseball with you guys soon.
- 1:05:26Until next time, stay filthy.
