Transcript
- 0:06Hello. What's your least favorite scary
- 0:08movie? Next challenge welcome to What's
- 0:12your least favorite scary movie? The podcast where we talk about
- 0:15the good, the bad, the ugly and the absurd and all of our.
- 0:18Favorite and least favorite? Scary movies.
- 0:20Because we believe every horror movie rife we has its fan base.
- 0:23Even if we don't always get it. My name is Travis.
- 0:25My name is Jesse and welcome back to another uncut, undrawn,
- 0:30live and mostly unedited. Oh man, I fucked that up.
- 0:34Oh well, guess what? It's live, folks.
- 0:36Here we are, live, uncut and mostly undrawn monthly edition
- 0:44of our bonus series. To be or not to Be, hopefully
- 0:48with not quite that many fuck ups to come in the future, yes,
- 0:51we'll see. We'll see what happens though.
- 0:53I don't know. Who knows.
- 0:54This is reality TV baby. This.
- 0:56Is reality TV we, you know, that's the whole point.
- 1:00We're supposed to just capture the realism of it.
- 1:01All yeah, we're being we're. Real people?
- 1:03Yeah, we're real. Yeah.
- 1:04This is reality. We're.
- 1:05All John Connor also. I am John Connor.
- 1:09I am too. Yeah, We're both John Connor.
- 1:12I'm glad that we both agree that we could both be John Connor.
- 1:14Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:15OK, that all makes sense to this movie, everybody, because I.
- 1:17Promise it makes sense because this this month we are talking
- 1:20about Cruel World because it's Jesse's pick and it's a bunch of
- 1:23coeds locked in a house, boys. And yeah, it has John Connor.
- 1:28And it has John Connor. Well baby John Connor well as a
- 1:32as a full blown man. Yeah, I was gonna say, actually,
- 1:34he's older than he would have been in T2, so.
- 1:37Yeah. It's not not really a baby job.
- 1:40Of course he's older than he would have been in T2.
- 1:42That came out in the 90s. And I want to say that this is
- 1:44Joe Kearney's inspiration for Spree.
- 1:48Say what? You know how he looks with the
- 1:50hair and the remind. Me what spree is?
- 1:54With the guy in the car, he's doing the DoorDash stuff or the.
- 1:58Oh, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 2:00What's going to say? What's his name?
- 2:04Edward Furlong. Yeah, Edward Furlong, he looks.
- 2:08Exactly like what I think they imagine the poster for Spree to
- 2:11look like. Yeah, I can see it.
- 2:13Yeah, you're right. Yeah.
- 2:14OK, OK. I guess that means that it's
- 2:16time for us to just go ahead and jump into it, because we Yeah,
- 2:19we don't have an answer. This is a bonus episode.
- 2:21We jump right into this shit, and it's less shit than normal,
- 2:24so we're just going for it. We want to see what kind of fun,
- 2:28undiscovered gems we can find on Tubi.
- 2:31Maybe it's movies that we've vaguely heard of but I've never
- 2:34seen before. They're not the.
- 2:35They're not the flashy, all the money Adam Bum houses of the
- 2:40world. Bum House if you paid attention
- 2:43to the auto chapters. On Spotify?
- 2:46Yeah, please do yourself a favor and look at what AI has decided
- 2:50to chapter our episodes. It's amazing.
- 2:54Bum house. Yeah.
- 2:56We we were talking about Blum House and Spotify understood
- 3:00that as Bum House. So we now have a new name for
- 3:02Blum House. Yeah, as much as, and it's not
- 3:04an insult to Blum House because God knows we love them.
- 3:08Yeah, but I mean, Bum house, I think it's perfect because it's
- 3:11also like they're fucking cheap. Yeah, a bunch of bums.
- 3:14It's perfect. Yeah, it's also AI has also
- 3:18decided. When I said Scout fucking love
- 3:21swimming pools, they were like freaking, freaking love swimming
- 3:25pools. And then when we were talking
- 3:27about the lack of boner in Paranormal Activity, the title
- 3:30was just the bedroom scene. Yeah.
- 3:34So yeah, have some fun with AI. There's very little joy to be
- 3:38had with AI. Let's make fun of it.
- 3:41Yeah, let's enjoy the chaos. And we're tying it all back into
- 3:44Terminator Baby. That's true, yeah.
- 3:47We're also just embracing chaos in general this episode because
- 3:50this movie is fucking chaotic. It is.
- 3:52It is OK. So cruel world.
- 3:54This was my pick. I chose it because it sounded
- 3:58like a mixture of Wrong Turn to Halloween, Resurrection and The
- 4:04Final Rose, all of which we have covered on the show before.
- 4:08I got such strong wrong turn vibes watching this movie.
- 4:12There is a very large part of me that wants to suggest we watch
- 4:15Wrong Turn to later today. I am always down for a wrong
- 4:18turn movie. The the only thing this movie
- 4:20was really missing honestly. Honestly.
- 4:23Honestly though. Texas Battle.
- 4:25Dude, yeah, where was Texas battle?
- 4:27And this is his wheelhouse, right?
- 4:29This is the era this. Is where Texas battle lives.
- 4:32Baby the Muniz era. This is Muniz.
- 4:34This is Muniz. This is missing Muniz.
- 4:37We needed Muniz and we needed Texas.
- 4:41We need to move on to the cast because.
- 4:43Actually talk about this. Cast is a sight to behold.
- 4:45We just kept going, this person looks familiar, this person
- 4:48looks familiar, this person looks familiar.
- 4:50This person is familiar, but not from movies we've seen.
- 4:52But they've done a ton of shit, so we're going to get to all of
- 4:55that. So the movie is Cruel World.
- 4:57It released October 14th, 2005. We watched it on to be because
- 5:01this is our to be our not to be episode.
- 5:05You can watch it for free that way.
- 5:07Written by Gene Hess, Paul Lawrence and Paul T Murray,
- 5:11directed by Kelsey T Howard, music by Danny Saber, and
- 5:14special effects makeup by Misuk Ku and Mark Shostrom.
- 5:19Starring Edward Furlong as Philip Markham.
- 5:22You may better know him as John Connor from T2.
- 5:25Oh man. And he, you know, good for him.
- 5:29I'm glad that he's still working.
- 5:31And you know what? He did a good job.
- 5:32He did a good. Job.
- 5:33Yeah, he's very deranged. Absolutely, people probably
- 5:35should on him. Oh absolutely, but don't worry,
- 5:39I have reviews for the end of the episode.
- 5:40It's kind of a tragic. It's case.
- 5:42Did. Did.
- 5:43You, I don't know anything about his life.
- 5:45Well, when he was on the set of Terminator Two, there was a
- 5:50adult woman that started dating him.
- 5:52Oh God. He's so fucked.
- 5:53Up. Yeah, he was groomed.
- 5:54He was a baby kid, yeah. Jesus Christ.
- 5:58Yeah, And everybody was cool with it.
- 6:00Everybody was like totally fine with this woman, just like
- 6:02dating this child actor on the set.
- 6:05You can find pictures of it. This is.
- 6:07Awful. This is awful.
- 6:08Can we go back to having fun? I'm sorry, I just wanted to put
- 6:10in the context because I feel like people shit on this guy and
- 6:13this guy. I feel like he's been through
- 6:15some shit I didn't. So I'm happy.
- 6:17I'm happy for him. I'm happy for him that he found
- 6:19this like weird little role in this movie and he just had.
- 6:21He seemed like he had fun. The Terminator movies are from
- 6:25an era before I researched the background of movies, so for me,
- 6:29he's just John Connor. You know what?
- 6:31I've known about. I didn't.
- 6:32Know any of that? He was a cool fucking kid now
- 6:34back in the day though. But yeah, he, yeah, it's sad.
- 6:38So sorry. Let's let's bring him back up a
- 6:40little. Bit all right.
- 6:41Well, Speaking of bringing it back up, Daniel Franzese is
- 6:44Claude Markham, better known as Damien from Mean Girls.
- 6:48Who I, before I learned his name, wrote as Mean Guy.
- 6:54That's good. That probably would have been
- 6:57better if I had just written him as Damien or something because I
- 7:00was like, PA, is he APA? I didn't know because he was
- 7:03walking. The coffins.
- 7:05At one point I was like, it seems reasonable OK Andrew
- 7:08Keegan as Bobby. You may better know him as
- 7:11Donnie from 10 Things I Hate About You.
- 7:13He is the asshole that basically puts the whole thing into motion
- 7:18because he wants to get in cats little sister's pants.
- 7:21I don't know him. So he's a typecast?
- 7:26Susan Ward as Ashley? Fuck.
- 7:30I looked her up and she was in something and I forgot what.
- 7:32It was. Well, he pulled it up.
- 7:33I got it right here. Yeah.
- 7:34OK. Ashley, where you at Ashley.
- 7:37Where you at? Ashley, sorry, we gotta, we
- 7:40gotta fill the desk. Yeah, we gotta silence a little
- 7:43bit. We're.
- 7:44Kind of filling up the space right now which.
- 7:46One is that ask Susan Ward. Here we go.
- 7:49What have you been in, Susan? Oh God, you're getting.
- 7:51Susan OK, OK. Shallow.
- 7:53How she was. Jill.
- 7:54Yeah. And.
- 7:55I haven't seen that movie since it was considered socially
- 8:00relevant. Yeah, it's that.
- 8:02It was a long time ago since I watched that too.
- 8:06Shit, man. She's not been in a whole lot of
- 8:07things. She was in an episode of
- 8:09Friends. Who is?
- 8:10She. She is Haley and the episode the
- 8:15one with the sharks. OK, that was a later episode.
- 8:19That's the one where Monica walks in on Chandler watching
- 8:22porn, except he changes it. Yeah, and she can say he's in
- 8:25the sharks. That's.
- 8:26True love. That is true.
- 8:27Love, she was going to get in a bathtub and thrash for him.
- 8:30OK, so Noah Lake as Ruby, better known as somebody from Blue
- 8:35Crush. Not a movie I've seen so I don't
- 8:37know what to tell you, but she's in Blue Crush.
- 8:40Yeah, Ruby, I saw she. She seemed to have the most
- 8:43limited filmography. She she's a multi hyphenate so
- 8:47she also models and act or models and does music.
- 8:50OK, so acting isn't her like main thing.
- 8:52I got you. OK.
- 8:53Yeah. Lauren Ramsey as Jenny, better
- 8:57known, as I said who she was before and I.
- 9:00Forgot she's in the the ruins. The ruins, yes the the letter's
- 9:06girlfriend, yes, yes, yes. Amy Garcia as Gina, better known
- 9:11as an integral part of our annual Christmas celebrations in
- 9:15our household, she is a pop star that falls in love with Freddie
- 9:20Prince Junior, go watch Christmas with you.
- 9:25Not now it's July that's weird. Don't be that guy.
- 9:28Christmas in July. It's but don't.
- 9:31You don't have to. Just like around November, we
- 9:34can all start watching these movies together.
- 9:36She's a pretty famous actor. She's in a lot bigger things
- 9:39than that, but that's the. Biggest thing we know her from,
- 9:42Yeah, there was nothing else. I was going to mention her and
- 9:45it was always going to be criticism.
- 9:47Yeah. Joel Michael as Jack.
- 9:52He is better known as Joel from But I'm a Cheerleader.
- 9:56OK. Yeah, we OK, OK.
- 9:58Yep, Yep Yep. Nate Parker as techno fuck.
- 10:02I looked him up. Soon.
- 10:02Oh shit, I didn't look up Techno.
- 10:04Yeah. I here's the thing, I wrote down
- 10:06their titles in this movie and I was very confident in myself
- 10:09that I would remember what other movies they were in.
- 10:11And that was the wrong, wrong level of confidence to have in
- 10:15myself. Yeah, he didn't look familiar to
- 10:19me. Let's see.
- 10:20His name is Nate Parker. Yeah, but he's everybody else is
- 10:23in a bunch of things, so I'm assuming he's in something too.
- 10:27I'm not seeing anything. Actually.
- 10:30I don't recognize any of these. I'm not familiar with any of
- 10:32this shit. He's in a lot of stuff.
- 10:34I just don't recognize any of these names.
- 10:36Yeah, no, no, the the thing that's most surprising about
- 10:41this is like most of these people are still working and
- 10:44they've all had pretty successful acting careers.
- 10:47Pretty. Successful acting careers.
- 10:48OK, cool. Look at him.
- 10:49He was in an episode. He was in Cold Case.
- 10:51Yeah, that's a pretty big show. Yeah, I mean, good for him.
- 10:53He did pretty well, OK. Seen Nicole build her back as
- 10:58Miko I did not see. Her, she's in something that
- 11:01we've seen before. She was familiar to me too.
- 11:04I looked her up. Okay, I'm pulling her up right
- 11:05now. For some reason, IMDb is being
- 11:07really slow. Maybe this is like this?
- 11:10Is. Passing effects of the fucking
- 11:12outage that happened the other day.
- 11:15No. I don't know.
- 11:17It's not loading for me. It's I'm just getting a little
- 11:19spinning. Well, it's.
- 11:19Not because we're we're not affected by that.
- 11:21Also, it was only. For Oh yeah.
- 11:23Strike that was on. Microsoft and you have an Apple.
- 11:26She's in Brooklyn 99 Who's? She in Brooklyn 9. 9 She's in a
- 11:30single episode. She's in Cruel Summer.
- 11:32You watched that? Oh shit, which season?
- 11:35Denise Harper is her character's name.
- 11:37She's in season one. OK, OK.
- 11:40I I just know that you were familiar with that I'm.
- 11:42Familiar with with the show. I don't really care to watch it
- 11:44more than once. It's not like it's not rewatch.
- 11:48OK. The first season, maybe.
- 11:51She was also in cold case. OK.
- 11:53Maybe I saw these people. Maybe I stopped looking them up
- 11:56part way through the. List She's in the house.
- 11:58Oh, she's in Buffy 2 episodes. Buffy Quartet and quartet #1.
- 12:04Oh, she's one of. Yeah, she's one of.
- 12:06Quartet. She's in.
- 12:06Bring it on as Whitney. Wait, which?
- 12:10Bring it on. The first one.
- 12:12OK. So we've seen her in things.
- 12:14I definitely just didn't look up the last half of.
- 12:17Sabrina. She's in Sabrina, she's in
- 12:20Clueless, She's in a lot of things.
- 12:23You know, what happened was I started writing these and I
- 12:26skipped ahead because you told me the next person Brian Garrity
- 12:29was calling. You're like, by the way, he
- 12:31played opposite of Josh Peck and ATM, and I didn't believe you.
- 12:34So I looked him up and then because he was after them on the
- 12:37list, I skipped ahead and that's what happened.
- 12:40I saw him and I kept thinking that looks like the guy, guy
- 12:43from the first Hostel that you think is the main character but
- 12:47isn't because he gets killed. Yeah, you know what I'm talking
- 12:51about. Yeah, yeah.
- 12:53And then finally Jamie Presley as Catherine Man, better known
- 12:57as I don't actually know the character's name, but Crab Man's
- 13:01girlfriend and my. Name is Yeah, that's the most I
- 13:04know her from. She's good.
- 13:06She was really good in this. I was actually kind of bummed
- 13:08that she wasn't in more of this movie.
- 13:09We had another My Name Is Earl connection because Travis, for
- 13:13the first time ever last weekend, watched Dogma and I
- 13:16completely forgot that Azrael is played by fucking What's his
- 13:21face? Yeah, Earl.
- 13:22His name is Jason or something. Jason.
- 13:25James Jim, something with AJ, yeah.
- 13:28Anyway, so that's our cast is actually a pretty like these are
- 13:32all working people who are working still today.
- 13:35Yeah, it's really impressive to the point that obviously we
- 13:39forgot who was who and what they've been in because there
- 13:41was just so much to keep track of.
- 13:43It's just so crazy to me that they had these people here and
- 13:46then this is what we get. We literally never even heard of
- 13:50this movie. We have been on these people's
- 13:52IMDb pages multiple times. And if you, you told me that
- 13:56this that this title had passed by, yeah, I wouldn't.
- 14:01Wow. I'd be like cruel, cruel world
- 14:03that doesn't exist. That's not real.
- 14:04Yeah, it's, it's weird, man. OK, Travis, time for our
- 14:07favorite game. Budget or budget?
- 14:11This is one of those weird movies where it looks fucking
- 14:14cheap, but for some reason it also looks like one of those
- 14:18movies that had a shit ton of money behind it but they just
- 14:20didn't know how to spend it. OK, so I'm gonna go high bug.
- 14:26Ted, you're very wrong. OK, 2 million.
- 14:29Low bug. Ted OK, this it's almost like a
- 14:33bug bum house. It is almost like a bum house,
- 14:36yeah. OK, opening box office of
- 14:3911,000. Oh, it actually went into the
- 14:41theaters. Apparently.
- 14:43I said that like squeezy chips. It went into the theaters.
- 14:46Yeah. People watched it while they ate
- 14:48some popcorn. I.
- 14:49Thought this was a planet. Worldwide gross of 17.9000.
- 14:56It has an IMDb score of 3.7 out of 10. 3.7 Yeah, that's that's
- 15:01not too shocking. It's not too shocking, but I
- 15:04also, I think it's a little bit rude, but we'll get to that in a
- 15:06minute, OK? We'll get to that in a minute,
- 15:08OK. I picked 3 movies and they're
- 15:12all movies. My my working theme is
- 15:15somebody's watching you slash Puppet Master.
- 15:17I like that. Yeah, that's very good.
- 15:19And these are all movies that we've talked about on the show.
- 15:22Hey, I like that. Too, And it's good, which is
- 15:24perfect the cast we have. Perfect.
- 15:26All right. Yeah, that is very good.
- 15:27So the first one is Saw Two, Saw Two, which released October
- 15:3228th, 2005. It felt very appropriate to do
- 15:35the comparison with because it's a group of people locked in the
- 15:37house and we get Mad Men, John Kramer.
- 15:39Oh my God, it is perfect. Yeah, and he's kind of doing his
- 15:43own little game show. Exactly.
- 15:44Exactly. Yeah, He has a budget of $4
- 15:47million. I say he like it was John
- 15:50Graper's personal budget. He probably did.
- 15:52Have $4 million for that one. That that shit takes a lot of
- 15:56money to run. There's no way he's doing that
- 15:58shit shoot. I mean, I know engineers make
- 16:00good money, but really? Not that much.
- 16:02I feel like the cost of living in Sawville is shockingly high
- 16:05for his rundown as it is. I mean he probably like steals
- 16:09from these people when he kidnaps into, he's like, they're
- 16:12not fucking making it. OK World Red Gross 147 million
- 16:17IMDb score of 6.6 out of 10. OK, for a second, I got
- 16:21confused. I thought you were talking about
- 16:23this movie that we're talking about today is like, holy shit.
- 16:25Yeah, yeah, OK. Second movie.
- 16:31Wolf Creek. No, no, no, no.
- 16:33I get them mixed up all the time.
- 16:34Cry wolf. Yeah, yeah.
- 16:36Wolf Creek was the same year it was and there was a part of me
- 16:38that I was like how can I make this fit my thing?
- 16:42So Cry Wolf Cry Wolf released September 16th, 2005 on a budget
- 16:47of $1 million and had a worldwide gross of 32,000,000.
- 16:51Has a 5.8 out of 10 on IMDD. I like that movie.
- 16:54It is a fun movie. It has John Bon Jovi and knock
- 16:59off Alicia Witt and Pads and J Pads and British guy maybe.
- 17:07Yeah. God, I'm so broken right now.
- 17:09Is he, is he actually British? I can't remember.
- 17:11No, he is British. He's British.
- 17:13Swift. British.
- 17:14But we just kept thinking that maybe he was faking his British
- 17:17no. Because I remember.
- 17:18Because it's weird his his accent kept slipping in and out.
- 17:21No, he's all it's the most egregious and the sorority row
- 17:26remake where he. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 17:28Yeah, like he keeps accidentally going like British.
- 17:30Yeah, yeah, that's where he's British maybe.
- 17:33Yeah. OK, yeah.
- 17:35And then finally, I'm hostile. So funny that you've brought
- 17:39that up before. Yeah.
- 17:41That would be crazy if that guy was in this one too.
- 17:43That was the same dude. So Hustle premiered at the
- 17:45Toronto Film Fest on September 17th, 2005.
- 17:49It had a budget of 4.8 million and grossed worldwide
- 17:5281,000,000. It has an IMDb score of 5.9 out
- 17:55of 10. I love that movie and they are
- 17:58making ATV series based off of that and I'm kind of looking
- 18:01forward to it. How and why and who Money.
- 18:08Because and Eli. But like what channel is it
- 18:13streaming? Is it a streaming series?
- 18:15I don't feel like they make shows for not streaming anymore.
- 18:19That's true. I just, you know, my thought is
- 18:23because we never watched The Purge TV series, but I remember
- 18:26when it was announced it was going to be on USA maybe.
- 18:28Yeah, I don't know. FXTNTI don't know.
- 18:31I seem corrected because Chucky's on sci-fi.
- 18:33Chucky's on sci-fi. Sci-fi can get away with a
- 18:35little bit more because I think that the FCC just is like,
- 18:39whatever, you're nerds. Whatever.
- 18:41Yeah. Yeah.
- 18:44Well, you, they're stupid. They spelled sci-fi wrong.
- 18:46They don't know what they're doing over there.
- 18:48Whatever. They're not real.
- 18:50But yeah, I just, I don't know how you can show the stuff that
- 18:55goes in hostile. It's got to be streaming.
- 18:57It's got to be streaming. That's the only way it makes
- 18:59sense. Yeah, for sure.
- 19:00OK, so more research to be done on that.
- 19:03I have two tag lines. Oh wow.
- 19:05OK. Be ready to be disappointed.
- 19:08Oh man, OK. Sorry, on this reality show you
- 19:13get killed off. Oh, fuck you.
- 19:17Not you. But whoever did that, Thomas
- 19:21Furlong, Is that what I'm saying?
- 19:23Edward. Edward OK, sorry.
- 19:27When you get voted off this reality show, it's pretty good.
- 19:31That's better. I guess we're.
- 19:33We're getting in the right direction with that one.
- 19:35They should have kept going. Yeah, they were working that
- 19:37one. They needed a few more.
- 19:39Yeah, a few more passes that was.
- 19:40Clearly, like in the early stages of a brainstorm session.
- 19:43I think it's like the last episode of Dead Meat where they
- 19:46did guess the tagline and they were like, some of these were
- 19:48clearly they just gave them to. Yeah, in advertising.
- 19:52Exactly. Yeah, and they don't even know.
- 19:53What the place is about? Yeah, that kind of feels like
- 19:55what it is. That's true.
- 19:56OK. OK, so because this is their
- 19:59bonus episode, we don't do the same full amount of background
- 20:02information. And we just go straight into our
- 20:04good, bad, ugly and absurd. So Travis, kick it off.
- 20:08What did you find good about this?
- 20:10So I thought that they had a cool idea for this movie here.
- 20:15I like the idea of taking a reality TV show and turning it
- 20:19into like a little horror movie because 2005, right?
- 20:24This is like peak reality TV right here.
- 20:28So it's topical. I get why they came.
- 20:30Up. I mean, 19 years later it still
- 20:32is. It is, but I feel like this is
- 20:34when it like started really rolling.
- 20:36I'm surprised they were allowed to fully mention Joe
- 20:39Millionaire. Joe Millionaire.
- 20:41That was a. Real reality show, really.
- 20:43Yes, I'm not. And it was exactly like what the
- 20:46cop described it as, where they tell this group of women it's
- 20:49kind of a bachelor type situation, and they tell this
- 20:51group of women that this guy is a millionaire, but actually,
- 20:54like, he's not. He's a construction workers.
- 20:57Really. Yeah.
- 20:58So at the end, it has to be like, do you love him for who he
- 21:02is or were you just a note for the money?
- 21:04I was surprised that they were allowed to do that.
- 21:06So in this movie, just for context for you also, we don't
- 21:09have to explain it later after we've lost the context of this.
- 21:12They were. It started off with Catherine,
- 21:15Jamie Presley's character was in a reality show called Lover's
- 21:18Lane Bachelorette meets Joe Millionaire where they told the
- 21:23group of men that she was a millionaire, but actually she
- 21:26was a waitress. But now she's actually a
- 21:27millionaire because of reality TV and movie logic.
- 21:29Yeah. I mean, that makes sense.
- 21:31Yeah, yeah, yeah. And actually that's one of the
- 21:35other things I thought that they had like a really great setup
- 21:37with the, like, opening scenes. Yes, like the opening of this
- 21:40movie is so strong. I'm so glad it lasted as long as
- 21:44it did. I wanted it to go further
- 21:46honestly. And I, I had when we watched the
- 21:51trailer, I was like, oh God, like I this is a Toby movie for
- 21:55sure. I get it.
- 21:56But then we started watching the opening and Jamie Presley is
- 22:00there. She's fucking killing it.
- 22:01She's doing a great job. And the camera work is good, The
- 22:05acting's good, the setup, like the scenes are good.
- 22:08Like I thought like, holy shit, we're going to get like a really
- 22:11good. We're going to get another wish
- 22:13craft on the show. Here is what I was thinking.
- 22:15But after that, we just kind of go into whatever the fuck this
- 22:21movie becomes, OK? And that is where my good ends.
- 22:27OK, my good. I love this premise.
- 22:29Obviously I was also the one who chose the final rose before on
- 22:34the show, which is a very similar premise.
- 22:37I am the reality TV person in this house.
- 22:40I really enjoy a single location horror.
- 22:44This cast fucking slaps. Yeah, for.
- 22:47Sure, man. Oh my God, that's another good.
- 22:48Yeah, they all are actually pretty solid.
- 22:51They're all good actors and they all have like solid resumes, as
- 22:55we've already discussed, so. Some of them have some bad
- 22:59performances, but I'll talk about that in a second.
- 23:02But I just think All in all, it's it's pretty fun.
- 23:06You get some of the cheesy reality bits and we get some of
- 23:09the 4th wall breaking of like, well, people that watch and talk
- 23:13about reality TV enough know this stuff happened.
- 23:15So it was kind of nice to have them acknowledge it, you know,
- 23:18like the whole, hey, cameras are running, so you just got to give
- 23:21them a sound bite that they want to work with.
- 23:22Yeah. And she says the exact same
- 23:24thing she said on his final episode.
- 23:26And I thought that was like, it was such a nice little moment
- 23:29later that they didn't really linger on too much where she, it
- 23:32shows him watching that episode and you're like, oh, that's why
- 23:35she goes to sound bite because she thought that's what they
- 23:38would want to hear. Yeah, it's great.
- 23:40And I just, I don't know, I just really enjoyed it.
- 23:43Yeah, OK. Like you enjoyed it as in the
- 23:46movie or like the opening? Right the the whole movie.
- 23:51OK the whole movie OK cuz we originally can just talk to my
- 23:55family. Yeah, no, I, yeah, I kind of
- 23:58like emerging that into. OK, I gotcha.
- 24:02I had, I enjoyed the whole movie.
- 24:04OK, so go ahead and get into your bed because I know that
- 24:08it's coming right now. Look, I don't hate this movie
- 24:11like I done like I had a fun time watching it, but this movie
- 24:14is so fucking chaotic. We have scenes that just fucking
- 24:19like we just you. Say it's chaotic, like that's a
- 24:22bad thing. This is not the kind of chaos
- 24:26that you want. We.
- 24:27OK, So like the most egregious thing.
- 24:29Well, the thing that really caught me off guard right away
- 24:31was whenever we have Ruby, stuff like we have like, OK, challenge
- 24:36time, Oh, she's dead. And then like it cuts
- 24:38immediately to another challenge and then something else happens
- 24:41and it's like just seeing what's.
- 24:44Happened. The problem was that I think
- 24:46they needed a little bit more editing in either the script or
- 24:50the movie itself. No, what happened is, yeah, like
- 24:53you were right about the editing, but I don't think that
- 24:55they got the shots that they needed to get like moments in
- 24:59between. They just focus so heavily on
- 25:02writing and focusing on getting shots of like the big moments
- 25:05that they were excited about, but they didn't want to put any
- 25:10effort into laying the groundwork to get us there.
- 25:13They just got us there immediately.
- 25:15And it doesn't have the payoff if you don't have, if you don't
- 25:20feel like it's earned. I think my biggest problem with
- 25:23it, this could be fixed and this is kind of going into my bed,
- 25:27OK? It could be fixed with a simple
- 25:30line change, which is at the beginning when he's explaining
- 25:32the premise of the show. You all will complete a
- 25:35challenge. The winner gets immunity for the
- 25:37week, and everybody else has to vote for somebody who's not
- 25:41immune off. None of that ever happens.
- 25:44We don't get a single scene of people like voting anybody.
- 25:47It just all happens off screen and I but.
- 25:50There's only a single vote ever also.
- 25:53But still, like everybody votes, and those are scenes that are
- 25:57primed for some good tension. And that's what I'm saying,
- 26:01there was one single vote that happened and it was off screen
- 26:05and they made it sound like that was going to be a big thing.
- 26:07And I was like, oh, this as somebody who grew up watching
- 26:10Survivor, I owned a fucking buff.
- 26:12Pearl Islands. What up, Ruben?
- 26:16It could have been so interesting to see them kind of
- 26:21cannibalize each other a little bit before the brothers come in.
- 26:25Yeah. And become murderous.
- 26:26Yeah. I think that that needed, they
- 26:28needed to like have some restraint I think.
- 26:31And they, yeah, they just really like, I mean, really they just
- 26:36focused on writing and filming the moments, like the big
- 26:40moments that they were excited about, I think.
- 26:42And I just don't think that they wanted to put the work in to get
- 26:46us there organically and make it feel like it like happen
- 26:49naturally. Whenever I'm thinking about
- 26:51writing stuff, I'm thinking about the big moments I want to
- 26:54have. I think to Misery the book,
- 27:00because there's this whole scene.
- 27:02It's after Annie comes in and she calls Paul a dirty birdie
- 27:08for killing off Misery and says that he is going to write her
- 27:12back to life and he's got to figure out how.
- 27:15And he tries to do it sneaky the first time, you know, kind of
- 27:19freezer ice boxes. The ending of the previous book,
- 27:22Me like, thank God that they got you in time.
- 27:24And she's goes on to her her whole thing about the the the
- 27:28drive in movies and what was it? Rocket, not Rocket man, but the
- 27:34guy in the back seat of the car and or in the trunk of the car
- 27:37and he's flying off the Cliff. And that's how it ends.
- 27:39And then the next week, oh, he actually gets out before it
- 27:43flies off the Cliff. And she's so mad.
- 27:45And so then Paul's internal monologue, as much as he hates
- 27:48Annie and as much as he is being held against his will, and as
- 27:52much as he hates misery as a concept, he thinks about how he
- 27:56can organically bring misery back to life.
- 27:59And he talks about writing his book, this, the book that Annie
- 28:03burns because it's dirty. It's dirty and it's not misery.
- 28:08But there's a whole scene where there's a dead body in the movie
- 28:11theater. And he's trying to figure out
- 28:13how this person can realistically sneak this dead
- 28:15body out of the movie theater and is working through different
- 28:17scenarios. And I think about that a lot
- 28:20when I'm writing things. I want to have this moment.
- 28:23I want to get from A to B, but how do you do it in a way that
- 28:26doesn't just make people go OK you're not even fucking trying.
- 28:30Yeah, it's tough. And that's one of the that's
- 28:33what really good writing is. Yeah.
- 28:35The fact that this movie does none of that, I'm willing to
- 28:38just embrace the chaos. That's fine.
- 28:41That's all fine and good and I'm right there with you.
- 28:44Like this is you want to be a chaotic movie, Let's fucking do
- 28:48it. Let's go.
- 28:49Let's give me fucking John Connor and all of these like
- 28:52future like big working actors and like let's go all in.
- 28:56But I don't think that that was their intention.
- 28:59I don't think it was their intention, but I also just think
- 29:03that there are plenty of movies that are poorly done, that we
- 29:06love them for what they are. Oh, absolutely.
- 29:08Yeah, Yeah. But.
- 29:10That is a problem I have that I think so many of the problems I
- 29:14personally have, if we just take away his little bit saying that
- 29:18complete a challenge, get immunity, somebody else has
- 29:20voted off. If we take that away, it solves
- 29:24about 75% of the problems I have with the movie.
- 29:27Yeah, but for me, I still get things like the rushed ending
- 29:32and just rushed moments. Like we get the cops show up and
- 29:35then like he gets fucking his arm cut off and then shot up and
- 29:39this all happens. And like, I'm going to say less
- 29:41than a minute. And like in most movies, that's
- 29:45going to be maybe I'll give you 3.
- 29:48You can do it in 3 minutes maybe.
- 29:50But you know, they, they're like 30 seconds.
- 29:54We'll try for that. And then it's just fucking
- 29:58weird. OK, what's your ugly?
- 30:03Well, I guess my ugly in this is the whole thing with Phillip
- 30:10just taking advantage of these people wanting to do like, a
- 30:14game show and trying like, I mean, he's just watching them on
- 30:17camera. He's just fucking toying with
- 30:18them. He's watching them in the
- 30:19bathroom. That's not cool, man.
- 30:21You know, supposed to be watching people in the bathroom.
- 30:23That's illegal. Yeah.
- 30:26And then they, like, they both have this promise.
- 30:28Like, they're both him and his brother are having this like,
- 30:32competition, like, oh, I'm the one that's going to get Jenny.
- 30:35You know what I mean? They're already claiming
- 30:36ownership over here. Like, Oh yeah, she's my reward.
- 30:40My ugly, I think is going to be Claude's character, because I
- 30:43don't really know what kind of a point they were trying to make
- 30:47with that. Thank you, you just reminded me
- 30:49he was the bad acting that I was going to bring up the way.
- 30:52Like I feel like he tried to play that in such a weird way
- 30:55and I would have told him to like go harder with the anger or
- 30:59just reel back and like not go that hard with.
- 31:03It it's like, and I always have problems where a movie tries to
- 31:09villainize or vilify any kind of marginalized group.
- 31:16Yeah. And his character is heavily
- 31:18implied to have an intellectual disability disorder.
- 31:22And I don't get what kind of a point they were trying to make
- 31:25with that. The movie never says anything
- 31:27directly or honestly I feel indirectly about it other than
- 31:31oh he can get away with this. Truly, I feel like they were
- 31:35going for a chaotic family like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
- 31:41But it also doesn't even make sense because it seemed like
- 31:45Phillips motivation was supposed to be the fact that he didn't
- 31:48win on his reality show, and I thought that was an interesting
- 31:51enough premise on its own. And if that were the case, I
- 31:55feel like, you know, get Jamie Presley's character Catherine
- 32:00back on there That way at least has some.
- 32:03And I know that this is the beginning of the show, but two
- 32:05changes right now that I say I wanna make one.
- 32:08Make Damien's character, Daniel's character, whatever
- 32:12Claude's character. Quad yes mean guy make.
- 32:17Him APA, but like a true PA. And maybe he was APA on Lover's
- 32:22Lane and was one of the ones trying to push the storyline
- 32:25where Philip wins. That would be cool because there
- 32:27would be like some conflict. Yes, there's some conflict
- 32:30there. There's a natural kind of
- 32:32alliance there, and it makes sense from the origin story.
- 32:35Also, keep Catherine alive and force her to be in kind of this
- 32:38director role where she's got to maybe come up with the
- 32:41challenges or storylines or something.
- 32:43I wanted a lot more Jamie Presley, but they I don't think
- 32:47that they had it with that measly little bum house.
- 32:50Budget no, but I don't think Bum House can't do Presley.
- 32:55She's not a high doll or anything, but I think in 2005
- 32:57she was like doing OK. She does OK.
- 32:59Yeah, that was around. That was around.
- 33:01My name is Earl Time, right? Yeah, I don't really know how
- 33:03big she was back then, though. I know now people like.
- 33:06Recognize the name. Well, recognize the name.
- 33:09And also I think people recognize her as like, like
- 33:13another version of Margot Robbie.
- 33:17She kind of like, yeah, she's, she's like Margot.
- 33:20Robbie Margot Robbie and the Australian, the other Australian
- 33:26one in Scream 6 in the opening. Kill ready or not?
- 33:37No, you're thinking of Sydney. Press tax isn't Scream.
- 33:42No, it does start with an S. But it's not sick, Yeah.
- 33:47Maybe it is, I don't know. Not look up, ready or not?
- 33:50Ready or not? Show me the top building.
- 33:52No, there's no way we're not. Some are weaving.
- 33:55Yeah, yeah, yeah. OK, damn guys, very.
- 33:59Fucking I'm so glad that this is unedited for you guys.
- 34:02You can hear this is what we go through in a regular episode we
- 34:05just cut most of this out for. That's true, I feel.
- 34:07Like it's a little bit more chaotic than normal today
- 34:09though. Well, we're embracing the spirit
- 34:11of the movie. Man, we haven't even done
- 34:12child's play too yet and that's like immediately after this.
- 34:16When you listen to Child's Play Two later this week and you're
- 34:19like, wow, they seem really slap Abby.
- 34:20It's because it's half. We're recording these
- 34:22back-to-back. Then I've also got a beer right
- 34:25now, so. That I've already finished my
- 34:26beer. This is strong beer, dude.
- 34:28This is. When they say stout, they mean
- 34:30stout. It was. 12.8%.
- 34:32Oh my God. Yeah, so we got a little bit
- 34:36loopy during. This it's a little loopy.
- 34:39OK, what's your upstage? Fuck, man, we're still
- 34:42indulging. Yeah, OK, here's one.
- 34:47This is a good one. So Jack's character, Yes, they
- 34:51made a whole point. Right that.
- 34:52He's an asshole. He can't swim.
- 34:54Oh. Yeah, right.
- 34:56Because he it's not that he had the thing like the little ball
- 35:00and chain that would make him sink, but also when they freed
- 35:03him, he also couldn't swim. He just couldn't swim.
- 35:06In the opening when they all are hanging out and bonding
- 35:09together, he straight up dives into the pool.
- 35:13He is a swimmer. And then does he forget to swim?
- 35:17Maybe. Is he playing the long con?
- 35:20Is he trying to like, manipulate these people as players said?
- 35:25This as we were watching the movie that he is fucking vile
- 35:29Kyle from season seven and eight of Below Deck Med and all of you
- 35:34out there who watch Below Deck Med and listen to this podcast
- 35:38will know exactly what I fucking mean by that he sucks.
- 35:41Well I got the word he's a fucking asshole in this movie.
- 35:45He like I don't understand why people are willing to even be
- 35:49around him. I can't believe that 51 minds
- 35:52listen to the fan base enough to both get rid of Kyle and bring
- 35:57back Aisha in season 9. The low deck.
- 36:01Yes, sorry sorry I just is reality TV show adjacent.
- 36:06OK, the only other thing I have is the show is just doesn't
- 36:10follow its own rules. But then I guess like it's not
- 36:13really a show after all. So what does it even, you know
- 36:17whatever. This movie is so fucking weird.
- 36:20I mean like it's a cop out, but this movie is just absurd all in
- 36:23itself. I'm going to call absurd at the
- 36:25very beginning, and I know you love the opening, but I'm going
- 36:28to call absurd on it. When her husband Daniel comes up
- 36:31behind her and Spooks her and she spills your coffee.
- 36:32That shit's water. You know where else is really.
- 36:35You could have just had some cold.
- 36:37Coffee. Water.
- 36:37Did she spill them water? Yes, it's.
- 36:39Just water. It was coming out of the coffee
- 36:40cup. But she's like, ah, you made me
- 36:42spill my coffee. Like, listen, come on.
- 36:43I get not wanting to burn Jamie Presley's hands.
- 36:46She has precious cargo. Very fair.
- 36:49What actor's gonna want to burn their hands willingly?
- 36:51Outside. You're not.
- 36:53Cold brew, cold, cold coffee. That exists, Yeah.
- 36:56Just brew some coffee 2 hours before you need it and don't
- 36:59turn on the hot plate, you know what I mean?
- 37:01Like that? That's way too involved.
- 37:03Get brown food dye. And that is what production
- 37:06assistants are for. Sure, yeah.
- 37:08Or just even dip a tea bag. Or you can do in cold water.
- 37:12Yeah, in cold water and let it see for like 20 minutes.
- 37:15It'll be fine. You know what else?
- 37:17I think it's hilarious that he he is running through the bushes
- 37:20in the opening also and he is wearing like the same exact
- 37:23outfit as Daniel. I'm sure he knew what he was
- 37:26wearing, but where did he get that?
- 37:28How did he know that he was going to be wearing that polo,
- 37:30those jeans, those slacks that day?
- 37:34And he actually had that ready to go for that.
- 37:38I think he was actually meant to be the producer for this reality
- 37:43show, so I think his connection to the cameras was a real thing.
- 37:46So I think he was watching the camera and saw what Daniel was
- 37:50wearing. I know that, but he that means
- 37:53he had to go to the store, go find a matching pole, and go
- 37:57find a matching pair of pants that day, that very day.
- 38:03He was, listen, I'm not a clothing snob, but he was
- 38:07clearly wearing the Walmart knock off of these.
- 38:09He still had to go do it. That's a lot of effort.
- 38:12He probably had claw. I'd go do it.
- 38:13Probably. That's probably why the clothes
- 38:15were very poorly fitting. Yeah, that was Claude.
- 38:19Probably spent most of the per diem on his Milky Ways.
- 38:21Probably his Milky Ways. I love that.
- 38:23OK, so we need to get into this movie because we are talking way
- 38:27too much about the non. Yeah, it's all in the movie, but
- 38:31not enough at the movie. OK, Travis, what is your opening
- 38:35rating? Oh right, you saw the rating
- 38:36part. God, I'll give it a 4A four,
- 38:43yeah. I'm gonna give it a 7A. 7.
- 38:51Yeah. No, Yes.
- 38:53No, you can't tell. Me what my score is, I didn't
- 38:56tell you no to a four. You did with your with your, but
- 39:01I didn't. Actually say no I I'm shocked
- 39:04and hurt but I respect that it's your opinion.
- 39:07I just don't see how you get this.
- 39:10You don't see how this movie appeals to me?
- 39:13All right, fine. Yeah, but this is your challenge
- 39:15for this episode. Talk me up to A7.
- 39:17I don't need to talk you up to A7, I just need to talk you up
- 39:20to understanding my 7:00. OK, fair.
- 39:23All right. OK.
- 39:25Are we ready now? Let's do it.
- 39:27OK. Yeah, Yeah.
- 39:28All right. So we start off seeing audition
- 39:32tapes. We got Bobby from New York, we
- 39:35got Miko, we got Techno, we got Ashley, we got a bunch of other
- 39:39names. I didn't right now cuz they
- 39:40started overlapping each other on the screen really fast.
- 39:42I got them all I think. I'm proud of you.
- 39:45OK, actually, I didn't get it. All of them I got.
- 39:47Most of them. I got Bobby, Nico, OK.
- 39:51Ruby. OK, Jack, Colin.
- 39:54OK. Gina.
- 39:54Yes, Techno, OK. And Ashley?
- 39:57And Ashley, OK, so 12345678. We're missing Jenny.
- 40:03Jenny. I did not get Jenny.
- 40:05Jenny. Yeah, Jenny.
- 40:07I do like this as an intro. I feel like it would have been
- 40:09better if we lingered on each individual tape but we get them
- 40:12all like spliced on the same. Shot it would yeah it would have
- 40:18been nice to have a little bit more of each of them at the
- 40:21beginning so that way cuz the I remembered obviously those names
- 40:26that I wrote down cuz they stuck out to me they had the most
- 40:29screen time the most words to say and I remember at one point
- 40:33about halfway through where we still didn't have very clearly
- 40:37established anybody's names beyond this opening scene, which
- 40:40is nine times out of 10/1 of my main problems with the TV movie
- 40:45is that we don't get fucking character names.
- 40:47Or we get them too fast and then we don't get established again
- 40:50through the rest of the movie, which is a problem.
- 40:52This movie kind of does have some of the characters we do
- 40:55get, but then others we don't get for a long.
- 40:57Time for a long time, but anyway, so this is very quick,
- 41:02but it is kind of nice and it does feel very real when you
- 41:05think about people auditioning for reality.
- 41:07It's a great way to set it up. They're all talking about how
- 41:10they're like, they're, they're telling us what the game is
- 41:13like. All right, I'm ready.
- 41:14I want to, I win $1,000,000. You know, like, this is my
- 41:17college because they're all college students and it shows.
- 41:19Like the college, the whole point, Yeah, The whole point is
- 41:21that they're all coeds. Yeah.
- 41:22And then we cut to them in a stretch, Hummer, and they're on
- 41:26ice, which is just reality TV lingo for they're not allowed to
- 41:30talk because the cameras aren't rolling.
- 41:32Yes, interesting. I only know that because I read
- 41:35a lot of stuff about Antmi. Didn't know that was talking,
- 41:39which I think I thought that was just specific to the.
- 41:41Movie. No, it's the terminology is on
- 41:43ice because they don't wanna miss.
- 41:45They don't wanna miss any of the drama.
- 41:47OK. So they don't wanna miss people
- 41:49talking to each other for the first time because, right, you
- 41:52wanna. Yes, yeah, yeah.
- 41:54OK, so we are now in the big old mansion where this whole thing
- 41:58takes place. We see Jamie Presley, Catherine,
- 42:01she is in the kitchen and we've got some knock off Halloween
- 42:03music happening. It's like I can't even.
- 42:07Do it off key because. It's it's odd but and very
- 42:11blatant, but it's kind of funny. She's in there, she's drinking
- 42:14her coffee, not coffee, and as she's doing that, Daniel sneaks
- 42:18up and Spooks her. Yeah.
- 42:20And she spills her coffee, and she's like, I can't believe that
- 42:23we met on a cheesy reality TV show and I asked you to be mine
- 42:26forever in front of millions of people.
- 42:28And now we got to live in this house that they just gave us
- 42:31after the show on the condition that we also rented out for
- 42:34other shows. But this is going to be the last
- 42:35one because we have that choice to do that.
- 42:38I don't. This is insane movie logic and I
- 42:40love it. It is, but it's also really
- 42:42interesting that they, Daniel looks at the cameras and he's
- 42:46like, look, I, I still feel uncomfortable living in this
- 42:48house because I don't, I feel like I'm being watched all the
- 42:51time, which, you know, I feel like if you spent that time in
- 42:55that house and that's like what your life was, I would feel
- 42:59paranoid the entire time being there too.
- 43:00Yeah, but they get a three-week vacation to Tahiti so they can
- 43:05film this survivor for college students, is how it was pitched
- 43:08to them. So he's got to go pick up some
- 43:11prescriptions, and she's going to prune some bushes.
- 43:15And I don't mean that metaphorically.
- 43:16She's literally going to prune some bushes while she waits for
- 43:19him. And their suitcases are packed
- 43:21and literally by the door. They're right at the door.
- 43:24Yeah, and so she's out there and she looks over and sees a white
- 43:29man in khakis and a polo and assumes to her husband.
- 43:32But I love that Phillip calls her out like, oh, because I'm
- 43:36wearing a polo and khakis, you think I'm your husband?
- 43:39Oh, I mean, yeah, but also I feel like, you know, and this is
- 43:42Phillip's thing, he like obviously he's trying to spook
- 43:45her all the time. She's like, all right, I'll run
- 43:46through the bushes and that's how I'll get her.
- 43:48I. Also think it's really funny
- 43:49because she's like, oh man, I didn't recognize you.
- 43:52And he said, yeah, I did one of those extreme makeover shows
- 43:54after you rejected me on Lovers. Lane couldn't stand to see be
- 43:59the face that got rejected in front of millions.
- 44:01Every day we've seen the clip. He looks exactly he doesn't.
- 44:04Even have a haircut. I misunderstood that.
- 44:06I thought he was talking about one of those, like, extreme home
- 44:09makeover shows. Really.
- 44:10Yeah, I got another gig. No, that's it's called Extreme
- 44:13Makeover Home Edition for a reason.
- 44:15Because the original Extreme Makeover is all about you're
- 44:17ugly and you should feel bad about that.
- 44:19Seriously. Yeah, so the home version
- 44:21definitely won. Yes, there is also What Not to
- 44:23Wear with Stacey London and I can't remember the other guy's
- 44:27name. Yeah, and then the Swan, which
- 44:31is where they actually give people plastic surgery go
- 44:34fucking way. Yes, that was on Fox.
- 44:36Yeah, the CV, it's messed up. Yes.
- 44:39All right, So yeah, he, he invites himself in for a drink
- 44:42and she's so uncomfortable she lets him in.
- 44:45So he starts. He's.
- 44:47A nice guy, you guys. Yeah, he's put it on his.
- 44:49He's a nice guy and he, that's what he says.
- 44:51Like I'm such a nice guy. You should have like.
- 44:53Basically this all boils down to.
- 44:56I thought you loved me. Yeah.
- 44:58You said you loved me but you didn't want to be with me at the
- 45:02end of the show. So what the fuck was that about?
- 45:04And he's like, I want you to say how you feel about me.
- 45:08He's like, the cameras are on. They just want a good sound
- 45:11bite. I'm a producer on the show
- 45:12that's going to be filming in this house.
- 45:14And because she assumes he's with the network, she gives them
- 45:18exactly what she thinks they want, as we already discussed.
- 45:21Yeah. But this doesn't actually end up
- 45:25working in her favor. Yeah, and he's getting
- 45:28progressively more and more creepy.
- 45:30And I love this. I love this moment, because
- 45:33enough movies don't do this. She takes off her high heels.
- 45:37That was cool. I did appreciate that.
- 45:39Yeah, it's. So nice.
- 45:41It didn't work because she stopped running when she got
- 45:44halfway through the next room. Yeah, but it was like a nice
- 45:48touch for her to take off the shirt.
- 45:49It was, yeah. So he starts chasing her and
- 45:53they start running through the whole property.
- 45:55I like that she actually gets some good shots in Adam.
- 45:58So like it all leads outside and then she turns on, she gets in
- 46:02the car keys are out. Yeah, like enough to like take
- 46:05her keys and get fish wire and yeah, you.
- 46:07Know So she gets in her, she gets in her Jeep and he throws
- 46:10the keys at the windshield and she climbs out and she tries to
- 46:13grab them and like he's a 12 year old boy with a dollar on a
- 46:16string, he Yanks it away from her.
- 46:18And then she goes and hides and she's hiding behind a hedge.
- 46:21And then she once again sees a night man and khakis in a polo
- 46:25and swings a bat on him. And this time, it's actually her
- 46:27husband. Hold on, you missed the whole
- 46:29thing before. Then though, where she like runs
- 46:31inside and she turns the elevator door on and it closes
- 46:35and it closes on his arm. Hold on, did that happen after?
- 46:39It's not an elevator door. That's a elevator.
- 46:41You did. Garage door.
- 46:43Excuse me, The garage door. They're they're in a rich people
- 46:46house, but in that are not that rich a people house.
- 46:49Fair enough, fair enough. So yeah.
- 46:52And she takes a shovel when she he takes his pinky off.
- 46:54Yeah. And I like that he actually
- 46:56wears like this. Like little fucking nub cast the
- 46:58entire movie afterwards. Grocer and grocer.
- 47:01Yeah, the movie. That's a nice attention to
- 47:03detail. Yeah, it is.
- 47:04Yeah. And he's got his fucking gold
- 47:07watch over top of it the whole time.
- 47:09She. Should have kept fucking going
- 47:11at his hand. Yeah, she didn't.
- 47:12So she runs inside and then yeah, what Jesse said.
- 47:15She hits Daniel accidentally because they wear the same.
- 47:18Thing Yeah, and she she had hit the panic button on the House
- 47:23alarm. Oh yeah, she got the cops
- 47:24called. Yes.
- 47:25So by the time the cops have come, Philip, of course, has
- 47:28tied up Daniel and is basically saying you better play nice with
- 47:32the cops, get rid of them, or I'm going to kill Daniel.
- 47:34So she does what she's supposed to do and she comes back and oh
- 47:37hey, he's thrown Daniel in the pool anyway.
- 47:39Always a terrible idea. It's never going to go in your
- 47:41favor. If he's holding you message.
- 47:43She's not going to let you just go free.
- 47:45It's just like when kidnappers say no FBI, no police.
- 47:49Yes, FBI. Yes.
- 47:51Police. Yes. 99% of them are not smart
- 47:53enough to out outsmart them. Yeah, or our.
- 47:57Resources them. They can't do that.
- 47:59Yeah, it just you always involve the police and the cops, Yes.
- 48:03Like, yeah, the institution. We can talk about the
- 48:06institutional problems with them as a whole at a later time.
- 48:09But yes, always involve them. Yeah, for sure.
- 48:11The cops are there. Just be like, hey, I got a guy
- 48:15you might want to shoot. Definitely want to shoot this
- 48:17guy. Anyway, Phillip attacks her next
- 48:21to the pool they fall in, and then he slits her throat.
- 48:24Yep, and she's dead. And she dates.
- 48:27So the contestants arrive at the mansion.
- 48:29It has been immaculately cleaned somehow.
- 48:32Yeah, no, he, he must have bleached the hell out of that
- 48:34place. Yeah, it'd be funny if they like
- 48:37it smells like they just cleaned in here for us, Yeah.
- 48:41They're required to leave their cell phones at the door, so they
- 48:43all drop them off in a bowl. And then he starts to describe
- 48:48the rules to them all. So it's basically a survivor.
- 48:51Each day there's a challenge, winner gets immunity.
- 48:54At the end of the day, they vote somebody off.
- 48:56And you don't get food. Yeah, he's like, oh, you better
- 48:59eat a lot because we're going to starve.
- 49:01You and that actually does keep coming up.
- 49:04I yeah, that was funny that he's just like, Oh yeah, we're going
- 49:06to starve. You, yeah, eat a lot by the
- 49:08buffet now because you you won't get to eat later.
- 49:11And none of them took that seriously.
- 49:12They just drank as much as they could.
- 49:14So they were probably really hungover, and that's even worse
- 49:16because you don't get your greasy hangover food in the
- 49:18morning. No, no, no.
- 49:20So yeah, this is like a whole big thing.
- 49:22They're finally able to talk. They're all like partying and
- 49:25getting to know each other by the pool.
- 49:26This is what reality TV show early episodes are made for.
- 49:31Hot young people getting drunk and flirting by a body of water
- 49:36half naked. This is what everybody tunes in
- 49:38for. Let's be honest, we see people
- 49:40making alliances. So in the pool we've got who is
- 49:44it Gina, Ashley, Bobby. And who's the 4th person?
- 49:53Techno Techno yeah no, no, not Techno.
- 49:56No cuz Techno tries to form his own wise later on.
- 49:59Techno is just trying to get his Dick wet.
- 50:01Let's be clear here. That is true.
- 50:02It's Miko. No no no cuz Miko, Ruby and
- 50:06Jenny make their own pact. No, it is techno.
- 50:09It is techno. I got a note here.
- 50:10Yeah. And then after that, yeah, Miko,
- 50:12Ruby and Jenny form a pact. Yes, I do like the whole pact
- 50:16forming thing because that is such a trope in reality TV
- 50:19shows, a competitive reality. I love it when it's really
- 50:24obvious like this too. My favorite was an All Star
- 50:26seven of RuPaul's Drag Race because Trinity and Monet were
- 50:31so obvious about it and it was a non elimination season so it was
- 50:34extra pointless. It was.
- 50:35Really. I hate them and they drive me
- 50:37crazy. I hate alliance shit OK.
- 50:42Why you can't outplay your outwit?
- 50:44That's true. So Techno tries to come on to
- 50:50Gina, who's like, oh, I'm gay, Yeah.
- 50:53And Techno's like, oh, OK. And then?
- 50:56Techno also like he and they were supposed to like introduce
- 50:58their roles earlier and oh. Yeah, I didn't even, I didn't
- 51:02even write down all of their. Stuff, they all went so fast,
- 51:04but his whole thing was like, I'm like sexual flu.
- 51:07Sexual. Flexible poet.
- 51:10Something else? Yeah, Bobby's the bad boy, Jenny
- 51:13is the hero, Gina's the spicy Latina, Miko tries to say she's
- 51:19the shy one, and Ruby said no, I'm the shy one.
- 51:22You're the Asian what the fuck? I expected honestly, and maybe
- 51:27it's just because I've been watching the dark side of the
- 51:2990s, but I was expecting a real world fight to break out.
- 51:33She didn't fight it, which I think then means that she did
- 51:36win the shy one. That right there and then Jack
- 51:41is he's like the funny. He's the goofy one.
- 51:46Yeah, Ashley is the sweet satin girl.
- 51:49Yeah, Owens fucking Colin is. He's the.
- 51:55Farmer from Utah, the farm boy maybe Mormon also.
- 52:00Because he's from Utah. Yeah, maybe Mormon.
- 52:04Probably. Probably a Mormon.
- 52:07Utah's scary. Utah's scary.
- 52:11It's all Mormons and cows. Yeah.
- 52:16OK, OK. So.
- 52:19Yeah. So anyway we just we see
- 52:22Alliance is being made and Techno being shot down and Bobby
- 52:26licking Ashley's shoulder a lot. Yeah, and Techno also tries to
- 52:29come on to Jenny, but he, like, does a whole poem.
- 52:32And at first she seems really impressed.
- 52:35And I was like, oh, Jenny, don't fall for this.
- 52:38And then he lights up a cigar and she does a very obvious yeah
- 52:42and then walks away. Just like John Kramer, yeah.
- 52:47And so then the girls are in the room, Ashley pushed past Ruby
- 52:51and like knocks her book out of her hand and then she's like you
- 52:54betch. And then they start pillow
- 52:56fighting. Yeah, I know.
- 52:57Just this big old pillow. Fight.
- 52:58Yeah. And it goes on for a while.
- 53:00It's kind of. It makes me think of the last TV
- 53:02movie I picked, which is The Cheerleader.
- 53:04No, before Wishmaster, But it was the Cheerleader.
- 53:06Sleepover. Yeah.
- 53:07Massacre, where it was like so many montages of girls twerking.
- 53:11This is just so many montages of hot young kids.
- 53:14Hot, young kidding. I thought it was funny that this
- 53:16is very much like a you go girl music playing while they were
- 53:19all pillow fighting like you all go girls get it.
- 53:23So their first challenge, they all have coffins that don't seem
- 53:28to be built well enough to be holding as much liquid as they
- 53:31are. It's.
- 53:31Like slime and it has some insects in it.
- 53:34I think that's. Very obviously fake.
- 53:35Yeah, but they have to climb into it.
- 53:37The coffins are going to be locked.
- 53:38They have to find a key and get themselves out.
- 53:41The first one out wins. Nobody's trying very much.
- 53:45They're all panicking. They're all panicking except for
- 53:47Ruby. Ruby's like, stay calm, stay
- 53:49calm. I wish they had done these shots
- 53:52like they were more like night vision type shots.
- 53:55Yeah, it would have added to some of the feeling of the
- 53:59movie. It would have put us there like
- 54:00we're watching the reality show. Yeah, you're right.
- 54:02Because that's how it would be filmed for that.
- 54:04That would have been cool to get.
- 54:05But Ruby gets out because she kept her shit together and then
- 54:09she lets the rest of the people out, so she wins the reward.
- 54:12And like we don't get that hear what the reward is.
- 54:15We just like see and assume that it was going.
- 54:18To get the tire suite. Yeah, OK.
- 54:20The tire suite. So they go, I guess the tire
- 54:22suite is a room with a snacks and a jacuzzi.
- 54:26Usually yes, and then it seems like maybe Ruby also plays for
- 54:31the same team as Gina because they get topless and a jacuzzi.
- 54:35Well, she was also 41 Collins, so she might be the same as
- 54:39Techno where she's fluid. Yeah, she's very fluid.
- 54:42Well either way, either way it's interesting the movies like you
- 54:46guys fucking know the rules like the person takes a friend.
- 54:49That's how this like, that's how game shows.
- 54:51Work and I appreciate that they didn't explain it to us because
- 54:54like I saw, but like I said, I immediately was like Tyra suite.
- 54:57I get it. I get what's happening.
- 54:58She was allowed to bring Gina it only because that's her friend,
- 55:01and also apparently they do at least both like vaginas.
- 55:06Or boobs at least, yeah. Everybody likes boobs, Travis.
- 55:10That's true, it's just it's assuming that people understand
- 55:15the rules of these shows though. Yes, and I do.
- 55:17I do like that. Yeah, cuz this is a movie that
- 55:20you're gonna watch if you like reality TV.
- 55:22Maybe, maybe not. Well, or if you're married to
- 55:25somebody who likes reality. TV, I don't think I like it to
- 55:30the degree that you you're obsessed with it.
- 55:33I'm not obsessed, I'm not the way some people are.
- 55:35I just like the shows I like. Yourself.
- 55:37I like the shows I like. OK, OK, anyway.
- 55:40So the big go Jacuzzi time. All right, Next up immediately
- 55:44to the next challenge. This is what I'm talking.
- 55:46Techno has like a big old ball and chain and he wins.
- 55:50They look like in Jackass Two when they do the prison escape
- 55:55and they're playing Electric Ave. and they're going through
- 55:57all the teasers and stuff in the hallway.
- 55:59That's what it makes me think. Of it's just, it's so weird that
- 56:02we cut. There was no setup.
- 56:03We just see the end of the sex game immediately after we saw
- 56:06the ending of the last game and. And that's what was confusing
- 56:10because I was like, I thought that she was supposed to have
- 56:12immunity and then there would be a vote.
- 56:13Yeah, but it's challenge to it all.
- 56:15Like we don't know that. It's just like, all right,
- 56:17Techno won the challenge, all right, push Jack in the pool and
- 56:21everybody's like whoa, that's fucked up because we got these
- 56:23big old. Balls.
- 56:24And they've got the weights and it's very clear that the weights
- 56:26actually weigh something. And they're like, no, he'll
- 56:28drown. And because he says that he
- 56:31won't do that, Philip tells them that OK, well, Techno's a loser,
- 56:37so whoever will pull Techno in the pool gets is considered the
- 56:42winner of this challenge. And Jack?
- 56:44Shows his true colors. Shows his true colors and nobody
- 56:47believes him, but he pushes Techno in the pool and the keys
- 56:53are in the bottom of the pool supposedly. 9 feet deep. 9 feet
- 56:56deep and so and because he wasn't expecting to be pushed on
- 57:00the pool when he was. Especially not by Jack, who just
- 57:02spared. Yeah, and didn't get a full
- 57:04breath. Yeah, so they do a rescue
- 57:08mission. This is nothing for Bobby.
- 57:09These are not glamour muscles for Bobby.
- 57:11Bobby just regularly swims with a 20 LB weight seems like to his
- 57:15ankle. Yeah, how the fuck does this?
- 57:17I feel like they must have unlocked themselves because they
- 57:19are like, Jack is also unlocked and he jumps in.
- 57:21He's like, I gotta help too, but fuck, I can't swim suddenly.
- 57:24So yeah, he's over there. It's a.
- 57:26Liability so. Somebody has to go over there
- 57:28and save Jack also. So anyway, everybody gets out
- 57:31and they're going in and Gina tries to talk to Ruby cuz Ruby's
- 57:35like, I just don't. Something doesn't feel right
- 57:37here. I don't think I wanna do this.
- 57:39And Gina's like it's $1,000,000 bitch and Ruby's like, I just
- 57:44need to think for a minute. I'm just going to stay out here
- 57:46by the pool. This all felt so rushed.
- 57:48Yeah. And so everybody goes in and
- 57:51then immediately somebody's like, has anybody seen Ruby?
- 57:54Yeah, I know. And then they're like Gina's
- 57:56like, oh, she was out there by the pool.
- 57:58I saw her a while ago. I will go check on her so she
- 58:00goes out. To check on her soaking wet.
- 58:02The ones that were in the pool. Like it hasn't been that.
- 58:04Long, but they said it was a long time ago.
- 58:06It is the weird thing. And they're like, oh OK, I will
- 58:08go check. So she goes to go check.
- 58:10And and this time we have seen screen that Ruby has been pushed
- 58:14in the pool. Presumably she drowned and her
- 58:16body has been taken away because all that's left is her neck.
- 58:19So. Yeah, clearly a lot of time and
- 58:21we know that it's quad bad to do this shit, and quad isn't
- 58:23exactly the most efficient. Yeah, also we've seen Quad.
- 58:28He's not stealthful. He was definitely splashing
- 58:31around and making a ruckus. Yeah, Oh yeah, before also when
- 58:34they were having their little like play time and getting to
- 58:37know each other time. Jenny did see quad peek in front
- 58:39of the trees before I forgot to mention.
- 58:41That, Claude, was also the one that was locking caskets when
- 58:43they were in there. That's true, yeah.
- 58:44Yeah. So yeah, she goes back in.
- 58:47She's like, oh, I found her bracelet there, but there's no.
- 58:52No sign of Ruby. And they're like, Oh well, we
- 58:54voted you off. Yeah, it's all happened off
- 58:57screen. They're like, Oh yeah, by the
- 58:58way, you're out here, Ruby. Yeah, Phillips, like so Ruby
- 59:03quit and and they all voted you off and they're like, you just
- 59:06abandoned Ruby by the pool. Gina, you're a bad friend.
- 59:09Isn't that so fucked up that they voted her off after what
- 59:12Jack did? They had to fucking go on a
- 59:14rescue mission for what Jack did and they're like, no, but Gina
- 59:17and it Gina really sucks. One of those that would be a
- 59:20classic producer manipulation in a non murder reality TV
- 59:24situation where it's like, oh hey, you guys are going to do
- 59:26the vote. Now clearly you're going to vote
- 59:28for the person that's not in the room because it's easy enough to
- 59:30have this discussion. That and you also want to have
- 59:33Jack because he's also going to be stirring a lot of shit and
- 59:36you want that on the TV show. Yeah, exactly.
- 59:39Exactly. And so anyway, Gina is in the
- 59:42stretch Hummer and they're down a dark Rd. nothing nearby.
- 59:48They pull to a stop next to what is clearly a freshly dug grave,
- 59:51and then Claude turns around on the front seat with a giant
- 59:55camera and she realizes what's happening, but she does nothing
- 59:57to try and escape. She runs out of the car.
- 1:00:01But eventually. Like, she doesn't run anywhere.
- 1:00:03She just runs out of the car and she's like, no, what do I do?
- 1:00:06She's like Scout when we go out of the house, like when Scout
- 1:00:09sees outside. Yeah.
- 1:00:10Scout makes a run for it and then the second she's an opener,
- 1:00:13she's like. What the fuck?
- 1:00:15Where do I go? What is this place?
- 1:00:17That's what happened to Gina here.
- 1:00:18So yeah. So she gets thrown in the grave.
- 1:00:20Yeah, and buried alive. Meanwhile, Bobby and Ashley are
- 1:00:23having sex in the Tyrus suite. Because there are no rules.
- 1:00:27No rules, she says. There's no rules.
- 1:00:29Bobby's like, you're not supposed to be in here.
- 1:00:30She goes. Well, they said there's no
- 1:00:31rules. Don't make me.
- 1:00:33Yeah, OK. So they have sex.
- 1:00:35They have all six. The next challenge, the prize is
- 1:00:37a meal. Except it's not actually the
- 1:00:39prize, it's the challenge itself.
- 1:00:41They have to go in and cut pieces of a cow off to eat it's.
- 1:00:48Edible, yeah, but if you cut the wrong spot you might get a lot
- 1:00:51more blood than you would normally.
- 1:00:53And also, Ruby's body is inside of this cow, yeah, but nobody
- 1:00:57sees except for the audience. Yeah, I like the idea.
- 1:01:02I like the idea. That was kind of cool.
- 1:01:04So they all cut off a little piece.
- 1:01:06Miko cuts off her piece and starts.
- 1:01:09They have to eat this too. And.
- 1:01:10But it does seem like they're allowed to cook it maybe.
- 1:01:13But it was still so bloody. And they had blood in their
- 1:01:16champagne glass. Yeah, and I, I just don't.
- 1:01:19I didn't know. I realized that they had like
- 1:01:22they were able to cook this also.
- 1:01:23I don't know but Miko just throws it up everywhere.
- 1:01:27It's so funny to you, Colin. The whole time is so excited, is
- 1:01:30like hell yeah. Working cows for a living and
- 1:01:32that includes killing him. I'm good on this.
- 1:01:34He was in his own man right there.
- 1:01:36Yeah, baby. Yeah, baby.
- 1:01:39So she gets kicked off the show because she threw up so and the
- 1:01:43guy grabs her while she's in the bathroom getting her shit
- 1:01:46together. Not guy we got quad we.
- 1:01:50Know his name now, but we didn't know it at that point.
- 1:01:53He was the main guy at this point.
- 1:01:55Guy so this straight up chasing that ensues here and.
- 1:01:59We get the Kill Bill music that. Knock off Kill Bill, like
- 1:02:04slightly pitch shift, yes, but yeah.
- 1:02:07Just like what the Halloween music at the beginning.
- 1:02:09It only happens because she starts to actually like kick his
- 1:02:11ass for a second there. She starts to do like kicks to
- 1:02:14the face and stuff. Like this feels very on the nose
- 1:02:17after you just dubbed her as the Asian.
- 1:02:19Yeah, it did a little bit, but you know.
- 1:02:21It was a really well coordinated fight scene.
- 1:02:23Though they balanced it out by her climbing a tree and peeing
- 1:02:26on him and. That wasn't expected.
- 1:02:28Yeah, I did not expect that either, but he's even like she
- 1:02:31peed on me. And I like that they added that
- 1:02:33in like, yes, that is what you witnessed, folks.
- 1:02:35She did, in fact, pee on him. And it did in fact work
- 1:02:38temporarily until she ran directly into the.
- 1:02:44Shed. Yeah.
- 1:02:45And he just locked her in to deal with her later so.
- 1:02:48She's dead. So the next challenge is a
- 1:02:50paintball fight. They're not allowed to hide and
- 1:02:53everybody immediately hides, including Techno, who goes and
- 1:02:56hides in a shed. And I like that.
- 1:02:58They don't even call them out like you're you're eliminated
- 1:03:01because you broke the rules. They're just like, oh, what did
- 1:03:04you think about Joel Millionaire where they brought in the Hawks?
- 1:03:08Yeah, I don't know. I did like how quads like, oh,
- 1:03:11I'm a player too. And techno's like, oh fuck,
- 1:03:12really? And he's like, yeah, I got a
- 1:03:14paintball gun right here and shoots him.
- 1:03:15He's like shit. Eliminated.
- 1:03:17But then he's like, no, I got a knife too, so he also kills him
- 1:03:20straight up. So the cops find Gino's body and
- 1:03:24they immediately go to Phillip. And I tried to see if maybe
- 1:03:29there were deleted scenes sometimes that's listed on IMDb,
- 1:03:31like alternate scenes or deleted scenes, but I didn't see
- 1:03:34anything. I'm very curious because I feel
- 1:03:37like maybe there's something that explains why the cops are
- 1:03:39so immediately suspicious of Phillip because they don't even
- 1:03:43see him at the house at the beginning.
- 1:03:45We've already went. Just see Catherine.
- 1:03:47We've already went over this, Chelsea, they just, they wrote
- 1:03:50the big moments and they didn't really want to worry about why
- 1:03:53or how. I do appreciate that these cops
- 1:03:56are almost the opposite of most horror movie cops, where they're
- 1:03:58like, hey, you kids, leave us the fuck alone.
- 1:04:01We don't believe you're very real.
- 1:04:02Trauma. Yeah, but in this one, they're
- 1:04:04like, we're gonna make trouble. Yeah, yeah, that's true.
- 1:04:10So yeah, they find the body all. Burning.
- 1:04:12They asked Philip about it and he's like, I don't know who
- 1:04:14you're talking about. Who's that?
- 1:04:16That's a bummer. He's eating a sandwich in a
- 1:04:18robe, respectfully. Yeah.
- 1:04:20So Bobby and Ashley follow Phillip when he comes back into
- 1:04:23the house and they see him in his little like screen room and
- 1:04:28Claude's there and Claude is watching the video he made of
- 1:04:31Gina's murder. So they go and tell the others
- 1:04:33who they're like duh, this is reality TV show, it's fake.
- 1:04:36Meanwhile, Phillip and Claude are fighting over who gets to
- 1:04:39have Jenny as though she is not an autonomous person because of
- 1:04:42course they don't see people as autonomous people.
- 1:04:45Colin wants to leave the house and he tries to leave, but when
- 1:04:49he opens the front door, there's a grate there and that kind of
- 1:04:52sets people into a panic, but especially Colin, who in that
- 1:04:55moment was trying to leave. So he runs out the back door and
- 1:04:58towards the gate, and when he grabs the gate he gets Jurassic
- 1:05:00parked. Electrocuted.
- 1:05:02Does that kill him? I think.
- 1:05:04He does. No, it doesn't kill him.
- 1:05:06He burns the shit. Out of his hands and he
- 1:05:08immediately gets over it. Right, I forgot he dies another
- 1:05:10way. Yeah, they they carry him into
- 1:05:12the room and for a minute he's a little shaken up and then he
- 1:05:15gets over it pretty quickly. So there's like a buzzing sound
- 1:05:18happening because I guess Catherine was doing laundry
- 1:05:21before she left four days ago and it just now finished.
- 1:05:26Yeah. Right.
- 1:05:27I don't know. All I know is they open the door
- 1:05:29to the laundry room and Catherine is that you're tied to
- 1:05:31a wheelchair with a bandage around her neck.
- 1:05:33Because the special effects makeup artist was like, we don't
- 1:05:35have time for this. Prosthetic whatever, Yeah.
- 1:05:38So that's where they're actually really panicked and they start
- 1:05:42talking to Phillip through the camera and Bobby's threatening
- 1:05:44to hit the camera. He's like, I wouldn't do that if
- 1:05:46I were you. Look out the window to see why.
- 1:05:48And when they look out the window, they see Techno's body
- 1:05:50being dragged and his glitz are coming out.
- 1:05:52That's why they didn't have time to do Catherine's neck
- 1:05:55prosthetic, because they had to do his.
- 1:05:58Amazon on tech. Yeah, which it was a nice shot.
- 1:06:01It was. I always, I'm going to be
- 1:06:04honest, at home I could do a neck winged prosthetic.
- 1:06:08I've done it before. I couldn't do a tummy wound
- 1:06:11prosthetic that easily. I could eventually, but.
- 1:06:14Eventually, yeah, but yeah. A neck prosthetic I could do in
- 1:06:17less than half an hour. Yeah, tummy's a larger surface.
- 1:06:21It's a lot of organs and I'm not a biologist.
- 1:06:25I don't know what that shit looks like.
- 1:06:28So, new challenge, we're gonna fog up the house and Quad's
- 1:06:33gonna dress as a firefighter with an axe and he's gonna chase
- 1:06:37you guys. You know what, Maybe we're too
- 1:06:38hard on Claude earlier because he went really quickly from
- 1:06:42dragging Techno across the lawn to being in full firefighter get
- 1:06:46up with an axe. You know, you're right.
- 1:06:47He did. That was.
- 1:06:48That was a. Firefighters train to be able to
- 1:06:51put on their uniforms that quickly.
- 1:06:52Do they? Yes, maybe.
- 1:06:55I assume so. At least whenever the
- 1:06:57firefighters like we would do our our field trips to the fire
- 1:07:00station in elementary school, they had us try and do a fake.
- 1:07:04I thought you were gonna say hey, so watch us get dressed.
- 1:07:07What the fuck? No.
- 1:07:11God, stop. This is part of our train.
- 1:07:12Saddest episode ever. Dude, I mean, you're the one
- 1:07:16that said you're the one that was your biggest take away from
- 1:07:18going there is like, oh, they really work hard at getting
- 1:07:21dressed. Because you got to put on the
- 1:07:24gear and you got to do it fast. The flies are at stake.
- 1:07:27We also got to go down the pole. I didn't do it though because it
- 1:07:29always hurt my ankles. So I was just like, no, thank
- 1:07:31you. OK, so the the weird thing with
- 1:07:35the scene is like he chases. A thing in Kentucky was was the
- 1:07:38Tennessee thing I. Don't fucking know man, I never
- 1:07:40went to a Firehouse but then again I was in like a like a
- 1:07:44much smaller town growing up than you.
- 1:07:46Mountains have fires too. Yeah, they have plenty, but that
- 1:07:51doesn't mean that we have a big force or enough that it's like
- 1:07:55maybe they don't want to show the children that.
- 1:07:58I don't think that that's what the kids need to see these days.
- 1:08:01Getting us ready for reality. Y'all got the real life.
- 1:08:04Yeah, y'all got the Smoky Mountains?
- 1:08:05Y'all got Smoky. The Bear down there isn't
- 1:08:08graining. You guys wait.
- 1:08:09Wait, who is it that we learned voiced?
- 1:08:11Smokey, Sam. Elliott, Sam.
- 1:08:12Elliott Yeah. Did you guys know?
- 1:08:14Did You Know? Did you know Sam Elliott voiced
- 1:08:17Smokey the Fair for like 30 fucking years?
- 1:08:20Yeah, it's insane. Big old mustache man.
- 1:08:23We learned this from watching Jeopardy on Marathon on Pluto
- 1:08:27TV. As you do for many episodes of
- 1:08:29Jeopardy. Weird things.
- 1:08:31Let's get back to this man. Anyway, so this is so weird that
- 1:08:34they do this whole thing and then just because the sound
- 1:08:38stops, quad stops. It's like he's about to kill
- 1:08:41Bobby. Sleeper agent.
- 1:08:42Yeah, he's about to kill Bobby, but like a sound stops, he's
- 1:08:45like, oh, we're done. And he just walks away.
- 1:08:47I don't understand what the fuck is happening.
- 1:08:49And he's like, did I do get Big Brother?
- 1:08:51He's like very good little brother, OK?
- 1:08:53Yeah, sure. I guess you did man.
- 1:08:56So next is a fight between Jack and Colin.
- 1:09:02Yeah, they have a cage match. It's not even a fun one where
- 1:09:04they like have to go get a case of money.
- 1:09:06It's. It's kind of fun because he
- 1:09:08gives them swords, but they are very terrible at fighting with
- 1:09:11swords. And Colin has Jack because of
- 1:09:14course he does. He works on a ranch.
- 1:09:16Ranch hands are fucking strong. They do physical labor for a
- 1:09:19living. Yeah, yes.
- 1:09:21And he's got Jack cornered. And Jack is cowering.
- 1:09:23And Colin's like, I can't do this, I'm not a murderer.
- 1:09:26And he turns around and Jack the fucking.
- 1:09:29He's all he is. Jack says I can and then he
- 1:09:31takes the sword and actually stabs him and.
- 1:09:33Tell me fuck this fucking guy and.
- 1:09:34Then everybody is like, OK, Jack, that was OK.
- 1:09:38And then Phillip says, wait, what is it?
- 1:09:43Kills him. The cops are back.
- 1:09:45They wanna search. Phillips says.
- 1:09:46No. So they're like, well, we're
- 1:09:48gonna come back with a warrant. Yeah, they're gonna search.
- 1:09:50Warrant the next challenge survivor classic OK this is
- 1:09:53where Jack gets this is a. Survivor Classic.
- 1:09:55I've seen this before. Yes, this is if you've ever seen
- 1:09:58Survivor, there's always a challenge, usually as soon as
- 1:10:02they become like soon after the merge, where they're all
- 1:10:06individual playing for individual immunity.
- 1:10:08They have to stand on some type of small platform.
- 1:10:11Sometimes it's shaped oddly, but it's a test of endurance.
- 1:10:14A lot of times, Jeff will be like, if you jump off now, I'll
- 1:10:17give you a steak. And so it's a test of endurance
- 1:10:20both physically and mentally. But in this it's just mental
- 1:10:23because they don't want to die. It's so sad they last for eight
- 1:10:27hours and then after that film. On that.
- 1:10:31Though, Oh, that's bullshit, but it's also just sad that like his
- 1:10:34backup plans, like all right, just quad get the fucking hose
- 1:10:38and just hose them down very pathetically and then that's
- 1:10:42another big. There was not enough water
- 1:10:44pressure. No, it was just it was it.
- 1:10:45Was weak, man. It was just us flicking water at
- 1:10:48Scout earlier. Yeah, like it was.
- 1:10:49Kind of like that, but it's enough to get Ash.
- 1:10:53It no Ashley started swinging but Jack is the one that falls.
- 1:10:56Yeah, that's right. Jack does fall.
- 1:10:57Yeah, and. So they say, Jack, you're out.
- 1:10:59The rest of you don't let Jack in the house or you'll have to
- 1:11:02take his place. And they're like, all right, no,
- 1:11:05cool, we're not going to let you in.
- 1:11:07And he's like, please, I don't want to die.
- 1:11:08And they're like, OK. Your boy is on my or my boy is
- 1:11:11on your hands. Fool me once, shame on you.
- 1:11:13Fool me twice, Shame on me. Fool me three times.
- 1:11:17I won't get fooled again. I I.
- 1:11:19Think it's funny that Bob was like, that's for Colin.
- 1:11:21Like oh, but like fuck the other people.
- 1:11:23That he fucked over right now, right?
- 1:11:26Like he, like Jack, fucked a lot of people over.
- 1:11:29Yeah, Jack. Jack just sucked.
- 1:11:31He also, when Miko was eliminated, he's like, bye, Mary
- 1:11:35Kate. Me and Ashley will really miss
- 1:11:37you. Yeah.
- 1:11:38He's a fucking. Asshole.
- 1:11:39Yeah, he's a jerk. So he's dead.
- 1:11:42Yep, he's dead. And they find this out because
- 1:11:44they're hiding in the kitchen. They're looking for food.
- 1:11:47I don't believe that this is the first time they've decided to
- 1:11:50look for food. No cabinets are empty.
- 1:11:53They're empty, but they do open a closet and they find a
- 1:11:55trapdoor and they decide just one of those kind of go in
- 1:11:59there. That's also a weird decision.
- 1:12:00I don't fuck this movie's relative with them.
- 1:12:03So she goes to the cross base and manages to bust out Which.
- 1:12:06She does find Jack's body. Along the way, Jack is in the
- 1:12:10cross base, Yeah, and she makes it out, which trips the alarm,
- 1:12:15which causes Quad and Phillip to chase after her and.
- 1:12:19Well, it causes Claude to chase after her.
- 1:12:21Phillip is ready and waiting and he beheads her.
- 1:12:23And then he bowls her head into the living room so that way
- 1:12:26Bobby and Jenny know she's dead. I thought it was really funny
- 1:12:29how that was shot because he cuts off her head and we get
- 1:12:32like probably 10 seconds of it rolling and then it rolls into
- 1:12:35the next scene into the house. Really cool.
- 1:12:38It was really That was a fun, fun cut.
- 1:12:40But it also is kind of like, did it fucking roll into the house?
- 1:12:43Is that why you're trying to tell me here?
- 1:12:45Movie. No, it was just a cool cut I.
- 1:12:48Get that position. The editing made it appear as if
- 1:12:52that's what they were trying to convey.
- 1:12:54It saw for people getting thrown between walls into new scenes.
- 1:12:58That's different. Is it?
- 1:13:00Is it? Cuz yeah, because dude, nobody's
- 1:13:06shattering into a million fucking pieces out of nowhere.
- 1:13:10Like that's how that movie was. This one right here.
- 1:13:12Head rolls off the screen and one scene rolls into the scene
- 1:13:16of the next scene like. I like it, I'm here for it, and
- 1:13:20it was a well done prosthetic head.
- 1:13:23It was, I was actually really impressed with that.
- 1:13:26So all right, they're all OK. They're kind of upset with the
- 1:13:31fact that Ashley got beheaded. Bobby's like, all right, well,
- 1:13:36now I'm just gonna cuddle and comfort Jenny.
- 1:13:38I'm gonna say that they're not gonna kill her.
- 1:13:41Yeah, so it's time for the finale, which Bobby then is
- 1:13:47like, all right, fuck that. I'm gonna climb through this
- 1:13:49here event and I'm gonna find this hearing gun and I'm gonna
- 1:13:53hold it to this here film hiding.
- 1:13:55But there was ATV right there where they were hiding that
- 1:13:58Philip spoke to. Them Jesse, this is what I'm
- 1:14:00fucking talking about. They don't fucking make any
- 1:14:02sense in this movie. It's just shit happens.
- 1:14:05It's to the point that it's so stupid.
- 1:14:07I love it though. Yeah, it makes no goddamn.
- 1:14:11Sense you. Don't have to think about it.
- 1:14:13You don't here. For how weird it is.
- 1:14:16You're they actually do you a favor and make you unable to
- 1:14:19think about it because they take that away from you.
- 1:14:22Just like reality TV, baby. Man, is that the real message
- 1:14:26that they're going for here? So anyway.
- 1:14:30So anyway, Bobby tries to hold up Phillip, but guess that the
- 1:14:34gun's fake or empty or something, I don't know.
- 1:14:37Either way, Claude teases him and he wakes up.
- 1:14:40Him and Jenny are on on a balance beam and they get nooses
- 1:14:44around their necks and they have to make it to the other end.
- 1:14:47But of course they're facing each other, so one of them would
- 1:14:49have to fall off for the other to make it.
- 1:14:52He like straight up sacrifices himself, which I would have at
- 1:14:55least attempted to jump to the other side of you.
- 1:14:58Yeah, or I would have like, hey, we let's teamwork this one step
- 1:15:02around the other, you know what I mean?
- 1:15:04I don't know how much she'll I give you that, but like I also
- 1:15:07thought about just like balls be damned, like I'll like fall down
- 1:15:11there and just like straddle this beam.
- 1:15:15OK. And then I just like step over.
- 1:15:17Yeah, something like that. And then I'll just kind of worm
- 1:15:19my way across cuz the hands are tied behind your back too, so
- 1:15:22you can't use your hands. No offense, two reasons that I
- 1:15:26think I should be the one to fall.
- 1:15:27One. No balls there. 2:00 I
- 1:15:31definitely have more core strength than you, so I would be
- 1:15:33able to stand up a lot more easily than you.
- 1:15:35I was speaking mostly from the fact that I would sacrifice
- 1:15:38myself for you. You.
- 1:15:39Would sacrifice your balls for me, is what you said I.
- 1:15:42Appreciate that. Myself, that is.
- 1:15:45You're so much more than your balls, baby.
- 1:15:47Oh, thank you. I love you.
- 1:15:48Oh fuck. Wow.
- 1:15:51OK, Well, I haven't unedited everybody accidentally.
- 1:15:54I don't even know what happened there.
- 1:15:56I just held Jesse's hand. You held my hand and I hit the
- 1:15:58edge of my chair and it hit like right on my fingernail.
- 1:16:02Oh, I'm glad it wasn't me. Yeah.
- 1:16:03No, it wasn't. It wasn't you.
- 1:16:05So, OK, so he is dead. Yeah.
- 1:16:08And she makes, Yeah, she makes it to the end.
- 1:16:11Except her triumphant win is her sitting by the door with Claude
- 1:16:15holding a gun on her. She's got to wait for the finale
- 1:16:18wrap party. Which is like a big sex reveal
- 1:16:21from Big Brother apparently. I don't know if.
- 1:16:24That's I never watched Big Brother so I don't know what
- 1:16:26this is in. Reference Does every season of
- 1:16:28Big Brother end with like a big sex sequence or something?
- 1:16:31I don't know that every season ends with a big sex sequence,
- 1:16:33but as I said while we were watching the show, you get
- 1:16:36screen time if you have sex. So the people that go on the
- 1:16:39show and they want to get famous, they want the screen
- 1:16:41time, they're gonna do the sexy things.
- 1:16:42Yeah, that makes sense. That's just what you do.
- 1:16:44So I have no clue what this is about.
- 1:16:46Again, I'm amazed that they were allowed to like just mention Big
- 1:16:49Brother like this. Yeah, I know.
- 1:16:51Yeah, it is interesting. So yeah, anyway, she does kind
- 1:16:55of a stretch in Texas Chainsaw too, where she is seducing him
- 1:17:04to try and get her way out. Which works and.
- 1:17:06It works and he's like I'll come with you and she said OK except
- 1:17:11then when he unlocks the gate she hits him with the gate and
- 1:17:13he goes bitch. Yep.
- 1:17:15So she chases him and this is again, kind of I thought we were
- 1:17:18going to get another Texas chainsaw 'cause she runs.
- 1:17:20There's a truck driving down the.
- 1:17:21Road. But instead we get another wrong
- 1:17:23turn. Yeah.
- 1:17:24She hops into. Driving the truck.
- 1:17:26I was actually thinking this is more of a sleepaway camp, too,
- 1:17:31where she rolls up and it's a cowboy hat and all, too.
- 1:17:35Yeah, and Pamela? Springsteen.
- 1:17:37Yeah, like she gets in the truck.
- 1:17:39Howdy, pardon. Exactly.
- 1:17:41That's pretty much what Phillip says.
- 1:17:43Right here. And yeah, they got Jenny again.
- 1:17:47They got Jenny and he's also got Cods.
- 1:17:50God damn Milky Ways. I forgot about that.
- 1:17:54Because Philip's like. Because God's like.
- 1:17:57Phillip, you're back. Did you get my Milky Way?
- 1:17:59It's, it's so chaotic, Yeah. Like they're like wrestling
- 1:18:02Jenny's, like, did you get my goddamn Milky Ways?
- 1:18:05Like what the fuck is? Happening listen and Danielle
- 1:18:08Franzies, I could see him ad libbing that life just be like,
- 1:18:11you know what this moment needs is a little extra chaos.
- 1:18:13I hope he did. And if that's the case, Edward
- 1:18:15Furlong played along with it really well.
- 1:18:18Like, yeah, I got your goddamn Milky thing.
- 1:18:22That was really funny. So the cops are apparently 10
- 1:18:25feet down, right? There they they witnessed the
- 1:18:28whole. Thing questioning somebody that
- 1:18:31appears to have been out for a run so the neighbors can't be
- 1:18:34too far away. God.
- 1:18:37This is so stupid. So the cops, I guess Chase, but
- 1:18:41they also, it's the one. Yeah, it's the other one.
- 1:18:46He's at the sheriff. Yeah.
- 1:18:47And he, like, catches up to them, but like, only fast enough
- 1:18:51to get his arm chopped off. Yeah.
- 1:18:53And then he gets tied up. And then Phillip puts an apple
- 1:18:56on his head if he's if he's gonna shoot the apple off his
- 1:18:59head. But yeah, instead he just shoots
- 1:19:02him. Yeah.
- 1:19:02And he's dead, so. So Philip is like, all right,
- 1:19:07I've got to leave. They're going to gas me.
- 1:19:09You'll be OK because you're insane.
- 1:19:11And so then Claude spends the rest of me going, I'm insane,
- 1:19:14I'm insane, I'm insane. And he walks into the house, and
- 1:19:16he finds Jenny under the table. And he's like, we got to go.
- 1:19:18I'm insane, I'm insane. I'm going to kill you.
- 1:19:20I'm insane. I'm insane.
- 1:19:22And then he's trying to strangle Jenny.
- 1:19:23And then the sheriff comes in and stops her.
- 1:19:27Stops him. Yeah.
- 1:19:28And then one year later. We don't even get a thing on
- 1:19:32there saying one year later it's just a news reporter outside the
- 1:19:35front gate. No, it does say we do get a
- 1:19:37little hoot, yeah. No, I didn't see that.
- 1:19:38Yeah, OK. A news reporter's outside of the
- 1:19:41gate with the most incompetent cameraman ever because the
- 1:19:45person's like, man, it's jamming, man.
- 1:19:48I got a phone call and I do like her.
- 1:19:51Kind of like riffing a little bit while he's dealing with
- 1:19:54fixing the camera. That was funny.
- 1:19:55She's like, we're gonna talk to the killer himself and see where
- 1:19:58he left some of the severed limbs.
- 1:20:01I don't know that was actually what was gonna happen.
- 1:20:03I feel like she was channeling Jen Jolie playing GAIL Weathers
- 1:20:09in screen three. Yeah, it's very awesome.
- 1:20:10Parker Posey icon. May she live on.
- 1:20:14So they all get a text message at the same time saying.
- 1:20:17Please leave your phone at the door so they're like, OK, we're
- 1:20:20out of here. Jenny gets one too.
- 1:20:22She's on a gondola going down a mountain.
- 1:20:24Vacation maybe, I don't know. She's surrounded by a shit ton
- 1:20:27of people. But she gets a hand on her
- 1:20:28shoulder and then it in classic 90s it is 2005 classic 90s
- 1:20:35ending. It freezes on her going.
- 1:20:38Yeah, like the door closes after she gets that text, and it's
- 1:20:42implied that like, oh, you're locked in, but at the same time
- 1:20:46it's also like, hey, this is kind of how these machines work.
- 1:20:49Yep. So I don't fucking know.
- 1:20:53I don't fucking know. That's how.
- 1:20:57That's how I feel after the end of this movie.
- 1:20:59I just don't fucking know. I.
- 1:21:00Don't fucking know either, but I don't even care.
- 1:21:02I had a fun ride. None of it makes any goddamn
- 1:21:06sense. It is very much how I feel about
- 1:21:08Long Legs, but Long Legs is much is objectively a much better
- 1:21:12movie. But I had fun with this one
- 1:21:14also. I can't believe you put those
- 1:21:17two in the same conversation, same sentence I have.
- 1:21:20Done so much reading about long legs since we watched it and I
- 1:21:23still don't know what the fuck that is.
- 1:21:25It's not through lack of writing and editing, it's through like
- 1:21:28just it's a little bit more intentional with that one.
- 1:21:31This movie right here is just like just the core parts of
- 1:21:36making a movie or just missing. I'm not saying.
- 1:21:40They're comparable movies. I'm saying that I left the movie
- 1:21:43feeling like I enjoyed it, but I also don't know what the fuck I
- 1:21:45just watched. Two completely different
- 1:21:48sensations. Different, different ways of it,
- 1:21:51but it's the same for me. OK, same but different.
- 1:21:54It's OK, I enjoy this movie. You don't have to enjoy this
- 1:21:58movie, but I enjoyed it. Look, I'm not saying I didn't
- 1:22:00have a fun time. I I had a fun time with it.
- 1:22:03It's, it's the perfect kind of stupid, like wacky shit that I
- 1:22:08kind of enjoy. But if I'm being like for real,
- 1:22:11it's just so fucking confusing, man.
- 1:22:14If you try to put any thought into it for a podcast, if we
- 1:22:16were watching this without it being like, I need to take
- 1:22:19notes, I need to understand what the fuck is happening each
- 1:22:21scene, it'd be a completely different experience.
- 1:22:25I feel like it's one that we would have a lot of fun with
- 1:22:27getting tipsy and watching without taking notes.
- 1:22:30Yeah, we would enjoy it. And I feel like it's one of
- 1:22:32those that we talk about on this show a lot, that this is just a
- 1:22:36movie and or script, probably both, that needed like an
- 1:22:41additional set of eyes that was just brutally honest and being
- 1:22:44like, hey, we need to make some changes, some edits, some cuts.
- 1:22:48If you wanted to make this, like, a legitimately good movie,
- 1:22:50yeah, you needed somebody else here to, like, help.
- 1:22:54You needed help. But I still, I had a lot of fun
- 1:22:57watching it. It doesn't take itself too
- 1:22:59seriously. It doesn't make any goddamn
- 1:23:01sense. But plenty of movies I love
- 1:23:02don't. And I'm OK with it.
- 1:23:04I'm OK with it not making any sense because honestly, when I
- 1:23:07watch reality TV, it's the same kind of thing.
- 1:23:10And I'm not saying that they did it intentionally because I don't
- 1:23:12think that they were thinking that hard about this movie.
- 1:23:15But I don't care because it's the same sensation I have when I
- 1:23:19watch things like Below Deck or Drag Race or an TM or Survivor
- 1:23:25or Inkmaster where I'm like, this is clearly just like, they
- 1:23:28wanted us to see what they wanted us to see, and they
- 1:23:31didn't worry about the other parts.
- 1:23:33And then they just hoped that we're too stupid not to pay
- 1:23:35attention and we're not too stupid to pay attention.
- 1:23:37But I'm also just, I'm here for a good time.
- 1:23:40That's fair. If they did do that
- 1:23:41intentionally, then that's genius actually.
- 1:23:45Anytime there's more than two writers, I get suspicious of any
- 1:23:49sloppy writing that is just too many hands in the pot.
- 1:23:51Yeah, not that multiple people can't work together and make a
- 1:23:54really good movie. We just talked about this last
- 1:23:56month with Child's Play. There were multiple writers
- 1:23:58involved and it and it actually is one of those situations where
- 1:24:01having three people working on it turned out to be a really
- 1:24:04good script. They ended up being mostly Tom
- 1:24:07Holland writing that one. But you'll listen to our episode
- 1:24:11to hear a full discussion on that.
- 1:24:12But anyway it it just. I get on.
- 1:24:15I know what you mean. Yeah, it was fun.
- 1:24:17You had a good time with. It I'm keeping it at A7, I stand
- 1:24:20by it. OK, It's not that it's an
- 1:24:23objectively good movie, but it's an it's a subjectively enjoyable
- 1:24:27movie for me. 4 1/2. OK, hey, I'll bump you bumped it
- 1:24:32up some. Yeah, I do have fun with it.
- 1:24:34Like it was fun enough. It's a fun watch.
- 1:24:36Like I I love the idea, I love the premise and this, the
- 1:24:40opening is super strong. So they had a lot good going for
- 1:24:44it. I just wouldn't watch it.
- 1:24:49Like expecting legitimately serious good movie.
- 1:24:54OK, go into this expecting some wacky shit.
- 1:24:57And if you've obviously, if you're listening to this
- 1:24:59episode, you've gotten a pretty good sense of what to expect
- 1:25:02from this. So you know, make your own
- 1:25:04informed opinion or a decision on if you want to watch this or
- 1:25:08not. OK, you know who else watched
- 1:25:11this whole movie with us? Scout.
- 1:25:13Scout. Yes.
- 1:25:15And I want to ask you, Travis Scout's favorite part of this
- 1:25:17movie. I believe Scout's favorite part
- 1:25:20was when they took the host to them.
- 1:25:22When they took the host to them, Yeah.
- 1:25:23Are you sure about? That I am pretty positive.
- 1:25:25About that, you are so wrong, Travis.
- 1:25:29Obviously her favorite part was when Bobby and Ashley were
- 1:25:34sitting there and they were in the pool and it was nice and
- 1:25:36warm and steam was coming up. No, because she likes the she
- 1:25:40likes to be warm and also likes to be wading through water.
- 1:25:43Exactly. I was halfway there.
- 1:25:44I had the water part. Yeah, say you got the wrong
- 1:25:47water part cuz as we discovered earlier, she didn't like the
- 1:25:50splashing when she realized it was man made when she.
- 1:25:53Thought she was just being. Rained on She was cool with it,
- 1:25:55but when she looked up and saw it was us flicking water at her,
- 1:25:58she was furious. I.
- 1:25:59Got a bad I got some bad news for her when it comes to pools.
- 1:26:03Don't. Tell her don't.
- 1:26:04Ruin don't ruin her post shower bath time.
- 1:26:07OK, that sounds weird if you don't understand Scout.
- 1:26:11She likes to get into the sink after we wash dishes, and she
- 1:26:14likes to get into the bathtub after we take.
- 1:26:16Showers. She's a weird fucking cat.
- 1:26:18She's weird, she's always been like this.
- 1:26:20I don't know what's wrong with her.
- 1:26:22She was scooped up from the side of the road as a kitten.
- 1:26:25Anyway, any way to just not take any blame for how she is as a
- 1:26:29cat? OK, what's next?
- 1:26:34I've got reviews. Do we not do who we related to
- 1:26:38or any of that? We should.
- 1:26:39OK. We've already talked about
- 1:26:40things we would change, so I kind of skipped over that.
- 1:26:42But yeah, so let's talk about who we would, who we related to.
- 1:26:45And I also have a special segment that I thought would be
- 1:26:47fun to do for this. Sure, OK.
- 1:26:49Who did you relate to? I, I'll just relate to, I don't
- 1:27:01know, man, fucking Colin. He seemed like the most chill
- 1:27:03one. OK, there.
- 1:27:05He like, I'm not going to say I was like a farm boy, but like,
- 1:27:10you know, like I worked on my family's garden and shit like
- 1:27:13that. Appalachia, where there's a lot
- 1:27:16of like farmland, garden land, and intensely religious people.
- 1:27:22Yeah, I mean, I did my fair share of yard like in garden
- 1:27:26work and show like that. I did not have a farm though.
- 1:27:29I will not say that. But I don't know.
- 1:27:31He's probably the most I related to of these people.
- 1:27:34The rest of them are kind of assholes.
- 1:27:37I related to one specific moment, and that was at the
- 1:27:40beginning when the thing had just started and Phillip is just
- 1:27:42watching the camera drinking wine because I was like, that's
- 1:27:44me watching Below Deck. Yeah, that is.
- 1:27:47You like, I get it. Yeah, Yeah, this is just what I
- 1:27:49want to. Do I did like his little scenes
- 1:27:51of him just commentating on watching them actually do the
- 1:27:54game he's. Just somebody that's enjoying.
- 1:27:56He's like techno. This is just sad.
- 1:27:58Yeah. Track 1 Techno, yeah fuck, I
- 1:28:02kind of relate to that too. I say that shit watching reality
- 1:28:05TV. Yeah, OK.
- 1:28:08My next one was gonna be if this was an actual reality TV show,
- 1:28:13assuming there's no murder, which is gonna be the character
- 1:28:17that you're either really excited to watch or that you're
- 1:28:21cheering for to win. Who would I cheer for to win or
- 1:28:24be you excited to watch? Yes, which can mean two
- 1:28:28different things in terms of reality TV, because we've
- 1:28:30already talked about how I love the absolute monsters, but I
- 1:28:32never want them to win. See, I don't like watching those
- 1:28:35people. I always get mad at them.
- 1:28:37I like watching the people that I actually think deserve to win,
- 1:28:41that's who. Like, I like picking my person
- 1:28:43and rooting for them. I would pick Colin.
- 1:28:46I liked him like he was the most pure out of all of them there.
- 1:28:49And that's the person that I like in reality TV shows.
- 1:28:51I like the actual good guy, the good girl, you know, the good
- 1:28:55person, the person that doesn't try to fuck anybody over, you
- 1:28:58know, tries to play the game straight, not tries to like, you
- 1:29:02know, fuck people over or cheat or anything like that.
- 1:29:06That shit pisses me off. So he's my guy, OK?
- 1:29:10I think Ruby is probably who I would be cheering for from the
- 1:29:14beginning, just where she made that strong entrance.
- 1:29:16And she's already doing her alliances and stuff.
- 1:29:19She makes an alliance with Colin, remember, She wants to
- 1:29:21bring her in to to their little pact that they've got going on.
- 1:29:25That's true. Yeah.
- 1:29:25They've got the solid, like, quiet alliance that you're like,
- 1:29:28OK, I want to see what this don't.
- 1:29:30Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Playing the game.
- 1:29:32I would definitely be rooting for her to win.
- 1:29:34But I think in terms of who I would enjoy watching on TV, no
- 1:29:40cuz Jack reminds me too much of Kyle.
- 1:29:42And do you hate shitty, shitty people?
- 1:29:45No, but he's not a fun to he's not like a fun hate watch.
- 1:29:49Like there are some that are a fun hate watch.
- 1:29:51I feel like Bobby would be a fun hate watch.
- 1:29:53Like oh God you're a piece of shit and I hope I don't read
- 1:29:56anything that shows that you're an actual piece of shit, but you
- 1:29:59just seem like you're a fuck boy and that's fun to watch on
- 1:30:01reality TV. For our patrons, this goes
- 1:30:03completely against the shit that you were talking about on Scream
- 1:30:06Queens too. You were so again so for the
- 1:30:10girl that was such an asshole to Gabby the entire time because
- 1:30:13she was like fun mean, watched on reality TV and I'm like, no
- 1:30:17it's not fun. She's just a bully.
- 1:30:19No, I talked. I felt that very differently.
- 1:30:22It's not. There's a different kind of
- 1:30:25thing. I'm not gonna go into all of
- 1:30:28that right now, OK? But there's different kinds of
- 1:30:31mean people that you enjoy watching versus who you hate
- 1:30:34watching. OK, so your person is.
- 1:30:39He honestly, he makes me think of Gary King before all of the
- 1:30:43stuff about him being like an alleged rapist from blow deck
- 1:30:47down under or not blow deck down under, blow deck sailing yacht.
- 1:30:50He was fun to watch. He was kind of a himbo and he
- 1:30:54fucked around and it was kind of like one of those where let's
- 1:30:57like, well, you're good TV. And then all of this allegations
- 1:31:01and stuff came out about him. And I fully believe them because
- 1:31:04he kind of seems like it was believable enough.
- 1:31:08And it's one of those that like, if those allegations didn't come
- 1:31:11out, if everybody was like, no, he's a joy to work with on set,
- 1:31:13he'd be fun to watch on TV. He's not now.
- 1:31:16And it it would be hard to rewatch those episodes knowing
- 1:31:19what kind of behavior he displayed and what he did to his
- 1:31:24fellow cast mates and to the crew.
- 1:31:28But Bobby would be a fun one to watch on TV.
- 1:31:30And it's like, God, I hope I don't read anything awful about
- 1:31:33how he was behind set. I hope behind set.
- 1:31:34I hear that. Like he was really fun and this
- 1:31:36was just a thing that he was doing to be on TV.
- 1:31:38He didn't seem bad. Yeah.
- 1:31:39In this movie. Cuz when push came to shove, he
- 1:31:42actually was like trying to take it seriously and was fighting
- 1:31:44for everybody and he sacrificed himself for Jenny.
- 1:31:47Well, he also. Was the one to save Techno when
- 1:31:50he got pushed into the water. Yeah.
- 1:31:53So I, I he would be like a fun one that like, and God, we all
- 1:31:58know on the show I love a himbo. So, like, anyway, yeah, I would
- 1:32:04be rooting for Ruby, but I would also be like, enjoying watching
- 1:32:08Bobby and hope he makes it most of the way so he could still be
- 1:32:10on TV. OK, that's where I would be at.
- 1:32:13OK, OK, now I've got reviews. OK, I've got both a good and a
- 1:32:17bad. This is funny.
- 1:32:21Well done. So I'll start with the bad.
- 1:32:27That's a three out of 10 damned by faint praise.
- 1:32:32The cover of the Blu-ray for this movie proclaimed that
- 1:32:35Edward Furlong is fun to watch. You'll notice that this isn't
- 1:32:37really praise for the movie itself.
- 1:32:39There's a reason for that. The movie is pretty damn stupid.
- 1:32:42Furlong does create a rather unique sort of serial killer,
- 1:32:44but there's a reason this hasn't been done before.
- 1:32:46He's a master of ceremonies who does barely any killing himself,
- 1:32:50nor does he set up elaborate traps or make contestants kill
- 1:32:52each other for the most part, which would have made more sense
- 1:32:54thematically. He has a dumb goon do the
- 1:32:57killings on his behalf. The goon never really makes any
- 1:33:00sense in terms of his motivations, nor does he tie
- 1:33:02into the themes of the movie in a discernible way.
- 1:33:05Furlongs character is presumably supposed to be a commentary on
- 1:33:08the exploitative nature of TV production.
- 1:33:11It isn't very subtle, but this is a slasher film, or at least
- 1:33:14it tries to be, so I won't begrudge them that.
- 1:33:16The only other characters of any significant are the contestants,
- 1:33:19who are of course a bunch of whiny idiots who only care about
- 1:33:22being on TV and all consciously adopt personas based on
- 1:33:25previously successful TV reality stars.
- 1:33:28This. This sounds clever in theory,
- 1:33:30but it doesn't work in principle.
- 1:33:32This is partly because the villain mainly sits at a monitor
- 1:33:35yelling stuff into the intercom, partially because the actors are
- 1:33:38mostly bad, and partially because many of its points that
- 1:33:40it seems to be trying to make about reality shows gets lost in
- 1:33:44ridiculous setups. There are some legit criticisms
- 1:33:47to be made here, but the movie mostly misses the mark.
- 1:33:50It doesn't help that I wasn't sold on its resolution, either
- 1:33:53because of the writing or the acting.
- 1:33:55I'm gonna go ahead and give this a three because the movie did
- 1:33:57not seem to be making some effort to be good, just not
- 1:34:00enough. There's a lot of that I agree
- 1:34:02with. I thought that the acting was
- 1:34:04pretty good, all things considered.
- 1:34:05Yeah, but yeah, the writing was kind of lacking.
- 1:34:11I liked his character, though. I mean, I feel like he was
- 1:34:13entertaining to watch. I thought it was really funny to
- 1:34:17talk about him being a serial killer that doesn't do much
- 1:34:20killing and setting up all Abbott Trav.
- 1:34:21Yeah, it's definitely Saw. This is the era of Saw.
- 1:34:24So yeah, I think that's kind of funny that was brought up that
- 1:34:28way. Yeah, well, he said where the
- 1:34:30reviewer said like he didn't even make them kill each other,
- 1:34:33which you know, and I think that is saw.
- 1:34:35I think this person wanted Saw. But it did make them kill each
- 1:34:38other because it was throw a techno in the pool or throw a
- 1:34:42Jack in the pool fights with the death in the cage the whole
- 1:34:45walking across the beam. I think only one person, only
- 1:34:48Jack was the actual person that do a killing.
- 1:34:52Yeah, yeah. OK, so I've got a positive
- 1:34:57review and this one is something I've never seen on IMDb, but it
- 1:35:00doesn't have a score. Well, I didn't think you could
- 1:35:03do that. I didn't either, so this is
- 1:35:05awesome B great horror. This film is a rare gem.
- 1:35:09It's B great horror. Exactly how it should be done.
- 1:35:11The fact that a bunch of celebrity wannabes would do
- 1:35:13whatever an all powerful voice told them to do is definitely
- 1:35:17believable. And the young Jamie Presley from
- 1:35:19My Name is Earl is a sight to behold.
- 1:35:21Edward Furlong plays the role of a deranged killer perfectly and
- 1:35:24as the story unfolds you may you find yourself sympathizing with
- 1:35:26him just a little bit. This is not your typical horror
- 1:35:31flick. You have no idea who will and
- 1:35:33won't survive. It's no Terminator 2, but then
- 1:35:36again there isn't nearly as much money behind it, so I'll give
- 1:35:38the small guys a go and check this one out.
- 1:35:40Plenty of gore for the sickos out there and plenty of tense
- 1:35:43moments for suspense fans and well made film for the budget
- 1:35:46horror fans. Look no further than Cruel
- 1:35:47World. Where is fill up a sympathetic
- 1:35:53character? I'm not entirely sure.
- 1:35:55Because he gets turned down on a game show that mean that's the
- 1:35:59only moment that I can. I think maybe maybe they kind of
- 1:36:03feel the same way as us, where he's just like watching the show
- 1:36:05and he's like drinking his wine and going no sad sack.
- 1:36:08See, now that's just relatable. That's not sympathetic.
- 1:36:12Maybe they just use the wrong word.
- 1:36:13I don't know. I kind of I I agree with a
- 1:36:16mixture of these two reviews because I have fun.
- 1:36:19I like the performances. I think the premise is solid.
- 1:36:22I don't like the resolution. Thank God damn thing tense about
- 1:36:26this movie. I did not feel attention at one
- 1:36:28point in this movie. It is dumb fun.
- 1:36:31I will give it that. But yeah, like, yeah, I kind of
- 1:36:35agree with you. Both reviews have well made
- 1:36:38points, I think. OK, Yeah.
- 1:36:42All right then, I guess that just leaves us here with a
- 1:36:44titular question. Scooby or not to be.
- 1:36:47Scooby or not to be. What do you think?
- 1:36:51I would absolutely watch this again.
- 1:36:53You would watch it again. I would watch it again.
- 1:36:54Yeah. I would like to actually watch
- 1:36:56this, not having to focus on taking notes.
- 1:36:59Yes, not having to try and make it make sense.
- 1:37:01Yeah, not try to make sense of it.
- 1:37:03And just like, enjoy the fucking ride that it wants to take me
- 1:37:05on. As always, we encourage you to
- 1:37:08watch the movie yourself, make your own opinion, but we I don't
- 1:37:12think it would be a waste of time for anybody to watch this
- 1:37:14if you like schlock and B stuff and.
- 1:37:18Four major. Movies to make any fucking
- 1:37:20sense. Our Doom Asylum enthusiasts out
- 1:37:22there, I think this right here would.
- 1:37:23Better than Doom Asylum? I think it's on par, which is
- 1:37:29dumb fun. That doesn't make sense.
- 1:37:30I mean, that's exactly the same thing with Doom Asylum.
- 1:37:35Doom Asylum has a little bit more fun with it.
- 1:37:38Yeah. I think this movie like this.
- 1:37:40Movie has a little bit more storyline than Doom Asylum
- 1:37:43though, so. That's true.
- 1:37:44Yeah, it does. If I was gonna edit this movie,
- 1:37:47I wouldn't edit it down to 40 minutes the way I've said that I
- 1:37:49would with Doom Asylum. Yeah, that's true.
- 1:37:52I would add more to this movie. Yeah, actually.
- 1:37:55A lot more. OK, so with that being said, we
- 1:37:59are gonna go record our Child's Play two episode.
