- 0:27Hey everybody, good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:31So today we are talking about a thankful heart.
- 0:35We're talking about that because obviously as we enter into the
- 0:39fall, we obviously go into these places.
- 0:42Apparently he agrees with me on this this morning and they are
- 0:45thankful right now that I just opened up the garden to them for
- 0:48them to run in and go and adventure in take up everything
- 0:52that's left in there. And they are over there all
- 0:55enjoying it. I was moseying on that way as I
- 0:58was talking to you is as soon as I opened their doors they were
- 1:00gone. Like lighting to get over to
- 1:03that garden. I guess there must be a lot of
- 1:05bugs in there in the morning. Anyway, the thankful heart, OK?
- 1:10This time of the year is a really great, great time of the
- 1:13year to be able to think about. What are you grateful for?
- 1:16What has happened this past year?
- 1:18That you can be grateful for, what is happening?
- 1:21That you can be grateful for? What's an active thing happening
- 1:24that you can find yourself grateful for and stop and pause
- 1:27now. We all talk about this gratitude
- 1:29practice. It's everywhere.
- 1:30Everyone wants to talk about the gratitude practice and saying,
- 1:33oh, you got to be grateful, you got to be grateful.
- 1:35And I, I myself talk about it all the time, because I do
- 1:40believe that being in that state is incredibly important.
- 1:46Nothing happens without gratitude.
- 1:48If you're not grateful, you will not move forward.
- 1:51I mean, it will be. It will be so slow and arduous,
- 1:54you will be miserable with it. But the more you find yourself
- 1:56in a state of gratitude, the more that the universe and God
- 2:00seem to. Flood your way, if you will.
- 2:05And for me, it's an energy. You know, I've said this before,
- 2:08everything is an energy. So the more you stay in the
- 2:11energy, the more you attract the like energy.
- 2:13And it's very simple. It's not like it's a punishment.
- 2:16If you don't say thank you, you're not going to get
- 2:18anything. It's just that you're attracting
- 2:20it because like attracts like. So when you are in deep
- 2:23gratitude, you attract more of the things that you are deeply
- 2:27grateful for. And authentic gratitude is hard.
- 2:32Let me be very clear about this I Authentic gratitude is hard
- 2:35because it's very easy to say thank you, but it's not very
- 2:39easy to be authentically in that state.
- 2:42We'll just say it because we've learned to say thank you.
- 2:44But the question is checking in with yourself behind the scenes
- 2:47and saying, am I being authentically grateful?
- 2:51Am I really in that place of gratitude, even if it's just for
- 2:54a moment? Am I actually really there or am
- 2:56I just going? Thanks because.
- 2:58Your mother used to do what my mother did and poke you in the
- 3:01back of the head if you didn't say thanks.
- 3:03It's really about setting up a practice that feels genuine.
- 3:09So a lot of people have a gratitude practice where every
- 3:12morning they'll write down things that they're grateful
- 3:14for. But what I have discovered over
- 3:16the years of doing this work and coaching.
- 3:19It's it's not a genuine gratitude.
- 3:21Often what they do is they get into a headspace of I got to
- 3:24figure out something I'm grateful for today.
- 3:26But it's not like they really pause and think about it, or
- 3:28they're grateful. It becomes more like a rote
- 3:31activity where you're just, you know, going through the motions,
- 3:34ticking the box, get it done, move on, let me write my
- 3:37gratitudes, let me read some of the Bible and then let me
- 3:40jumping in my coffee. So.
- 3:42I just had a client say that to me last week and I was like,
- 3:45well, did you actually like take it in?
- 3:47Because, you know, sometimes when you read something, you
- 3:49don't take it in, you read it, but then you have to back out
- 3:52and say, wait, what was that concept?
- 3:54Like something will catch your eye, but not enough that it it's
- 3:57like you got the whole thing you have to back up.
- 4:00And that happens to all of us. It happens to me.
- 4:02I mean, I have tricks around that with myself that to try to
- 4:05stop that, especially if I'm reading or listening, but.
- 4:09This gratitude. When I try really, really,
- 4:12really hard not to get into a rote state with gratitude
- 4:16because it's so important to me, I I stop and I force myself to
- 4:20pause. And you've heard if you're a
- 4:21regular listener, you know I use my camera on my phone for this.
- 4:25Because I will be walking, I will be talking to clients and I
- 4:28will see something. And I've trained my brain to be
- 4:31grateful for things that I see or that I hear.
- 4:34And so that I will be like if I'm on with a client and they
- 4:36say something and I know I'm that's going to help them, I go,
- 4:39I'm so grateful for that. And then boom, I've got it and I
- 4:42really mean it in that moment. Or I take a picture of
- 4:44something. I take lots of pictures to show
- 4:47you guys out here how you use your camera to be able to make
- 4:51yourself present in the moment like you know when all of a
- 4:54sudden. Heat drops and the flowers start
- 4:57to come back because the heat was too intense.
- 4:58It was just too much for them. But then boom, they're back.
- 5:01So finding your path to gratitude is all about your
- 5:05personal choice. Some people find it just by
- 5:09pausing and sitting and meditating.
- 5:11Some people find it by writing. But just allow yourself to be
- 5:14genuine and keep checking in and say am I genuinely grateful for
- 5:18this? And my can I genuinely pause and
- 5:20be like, wow, OK, I can be grateful for this.
- 5:24Because if you can, the world changes.
- 5:27All right, my friends. I hope you have a blessed day.
- 5:29And I'm grateful for all of you. And I'll see you tomorrow.
- 5:32Bye.
