- 0:14[SPEAKER_03]: BLG good Wednesday morning to you, my friend.
- 0:16[SPEAKER_03]: How you doing on this Wednesday morning?
- 0:19[SPEAKER_00]: Glad to be here, guys.
- 0:19[SPEAKER_00]: I've decided to have actual draft picks that were made.
- 0:22[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 0:24[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I can't talk about that first BLC because we got to talk about now the constant attrition of the Eagles front office.
- 0:33[SPEAKER_02]: This one I did not see coming.
- 0:36[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't know the Eagles expected to lose some executives.
- 0:40[SPEAKER_02]: I did not expect down a Caliby to be one of them.
- 0:44[SPEAKER_02]: After
- 0:53[SPEAKER_02]: There's been so many at some point does this become a problem?
- 0:57[SPEAKER_02]: They've got to defense, they've done a tremendous job.
- 1:00[SPEAKER_02]: We all know how good how he is, but boy, this is a lot of attrition year after year or almost.
- 1:07[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, more than one thing can be true as I like to say.
- 1:10[SPEAKER_00]: I think the Eagles, I'm not like panicking, that they're losing these people.
- 1:14[SPEAKER_00]: I still think they have a really good infrastructure in place and having how he rosemen.
- 1:18[SPEAKER_00]: In Jeffrey Lurie at the top of that is what really matters.
- 1:21[SPEAKER_00]: I think the most, but at the same time, I think you're doing a disservice to these kind of people like Bryce Johnson, Mike Alicaldi, Jeff Scott, so on and so forth to say that they didn't matter at all.
- 1:37[SPEAKER_00]: a two-time winning Super Bowl organization now.
- 1:41[SPEAKER_00]: I think that Eagles will miss these people, especially when you look at Bryce Johnson too, and the Eagles lose Jake Rosenberg a couple years ago, and it's Bryce Johnson who comes up to step up in his place.
- 1:55[SPEAKER_00]: And Bryce Johnson really good story, by the way.
- 1:56[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, a lot of people back in the day were fans, including myself of EaglesCat.com.
- 2:03[SPEAKER_00]: and a really cool journey for him.
- 2:05[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm happy for these people too.
- 2:07[SPEAKER_00]: I think they earned these opportunities but ultimately it is a loss for the Eagles.
- 2:11[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I think Alex started at a football outsiders way back 17, 18 years ago.
- 2:18[SPEAKER_03]: Is that right with like Aaron Schatz in them?
- 2:21[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you know, so, you know, you get to put in the door as an intern and all of a sudden you start growing in 17 years later, you're an assistant GM and leave in the Philadelphia Eagles.
- 2:41[SPEAKER_02]: will be, you mentioned the draft, a lot of love with the draft, you know, my one concern, and I, I'm trying to pound home, you got to add Jonathan Grinard down, David, and Wix to this draft, because I don't think you're going to see a lot of immediate impact outside of McIdle
- 3:09[SPEAKER_00]: I think that's fair to say, you know, I don't know what Eli Stower's role exactly is going to be here in year one with Dallas got her ahead of him, obviously expect that Dallas got her to be in a position where he might have to miss time at some point like he usually does.
- 3:24[SPEAKER_00]: So we'll see on that one.
- 3:25[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, in terms of the instant impact, it's looking like Macan lemon in terms of the rookies.
- 3:31[SPEAKER_00]: And that's fine, like you're not drafting players just for the 20, 26 season, at least he
- 3:39[SPEAKER_00]: contributions as a rookie great, you know, that's that's good.
- 3:42[SPEAKER_00]: I would say Cooper to Jean and then I'm into what big factors in 2024, but that's more of the exception than the norm I mean, I really expecting that every single year.
- 3:51[SPEAKER_00]: So I think the granada addition was a great addition by the Eagles and the big fan of that one.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_00]: I thought that was a really big move.
- 3:57[SPEAKER_00]: And then I like the Wix pickup as well.
- 3:59[SPEAKER_00]: So I absolutely think it's fair to include those.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_03]: Well, you're a big picture takeaways of of just a way like the whole draft went, you know, some people thought it was a sign of
- 4:09[SPEAKER_03]: You know, the changing offense, BLG, you get lemon, you get stowers, who's really, really a glorified receiver.
- 4:15[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, he's, you know, he's not a blocking tight end at all.
- 4:17[SPEAKER_03]: What were your big picture takeaways on what I told you about the Eagles moving forward this draft class?
- 4:24[SPEAKER_00]: Well, how he was been told us what he was going to do in terms of he wanted to get cheaper and younger an offense and that's exactly what he's aiming to do here when they draft a wider receiver or a tight end and then an offensive tackle and then even a quarterback with their first four picks there.
- 4:40[SPEAKER_00]: So, and a guard as well, for some some more depth.
- 4:44[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, he said
- 4:46[SPEAKER_00]: I think ideally, you know, in a perfect world, realistically, they would have liked to get an off of the tackle earlier.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if the opportunity really presented itself to them, and also just not expecting to get the value at wide receiver that they did, but ultimately, yeah, it's about getting this offense cheaper, younger.
- 5:04[SPEAKER_00]: and I also think it's about a potential different stylistic approach when you look at how the Kyliman wins and it's over the middle of the field and Eli Stoward is as well.
- 5:15[SPEAKER_00]: It seems like the Eagles are trying to get more to a point where they're challenging.
- 5:19[SPEAKER_00]: Jail and Hertz and certainly it's not that he can't throw over the middle field but he hasn't done it with frequency and I think they want him to do it with some more frequency.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_02]: point him in that direction because I kind of I looked at it the opposite to be honest after the draft because we all had this going in and we said well what is how we're going to do is he's going to change his philosophy and I look at the offensive lineman and he looked like two big powerful guys Mark Hillbill Mike and Mars now they're lesser pigs but you know if I were to say oh why why does he own stretch I would say these are more stout
- 6:04[SPEAKER_02]: We have a good about in regardless of scheme, he said, basically power phrasing, you know, to the point of, hey, we don't know where the coordinates are going to be a year or two from now.
- 6:14[SPEAKER_02]: We're just going to drip good players.
- 6:16[SPEAKER_02]: I kind of look at lemon and stowers more of circumstance than
- 6:21[SPEAKER_02]: pushing Jalen Hertz in a certain direction.
- 6:25[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I think they would have won a Caden Proctor.
- 6:28[SPEAKER_02]: Didn't wasn't in their Aegis spirit.
- 6:30[SPEAKER_02]: He was the 15th player of 15.
- 6:32[SPEAKER_02]: They won up in Ghana.
- 6:33[SPEAKER_02]: Sort of his mentality.
- 6:35[SPEAKER_02]: Eli Stowers, BLG, I kind of look at Shannon.
- 6:40[SPEAKER_02]: It's yours, kiddo.
- 6:41[SPEAKER_02]: It's, you know, if you look at Matt and Flora, it's Tucker Crab.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_02]: If you look, you know, it's more of the,
- 6:48[SPEAKER_02]: well-rounded tight-ends who can set the edge for that wide zone.
- 6:53[SPEAKER_02]: I think he saw Eli Saras.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_02]: Nope, this is the best player.
- 6:56[SPEAKER_02]: I thought how he was just best player on my board guy over the weekend.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I don't think they reached on someone that could have been better talent just for the sake of going stylistically.
- 7:12[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think that's what they did.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think that's how he was.
- 7:16[SPEAKER_00]: believes in.
- 7:17[SPEAKER_00]: And I agree with him on that.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_00]: I think that's, you know, the way to go about it.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_00]: And yeah, like to your point, you don't know if you saw many and it's going to be here for for good or for worse for the, you know, he does a job get tired of that coach, like we've seen here, or if things don't go so well, then, you know, could be one and done.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, you don't just, you know, face your draft strategy and round that.
- 7:39[SPEAKER_00]: But I do think because of the players, they ultimately selected, and especially in the case of McCoy 11,
- 7:45[SPEAKER_00]: that when you're looking at, you know, how he's had success in college and we'll see how he translates to the league, but I do think it's going to force Jalen to do some of that more over the middle passing.
- 7:57[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I'm curious to see what they end up doing.
- 7:59[SPEAKER_03]: And it almost feels to me, Bill, Jay, I don't know if you agree or not, but it almost feels like instead of building the scheme around the players that they have, like they've done in the past,
- 8:09[SPEAKER_03]: that they want a scheme and they're going to get the players that fit that scheme.
- 8:13[SPEAKER_03]: Now we'll see if that if it unfolds that way hasn't been that way in the past, but we will see if they go more to that.
- 8:19[SPEAKER_03]: Bill G. Day 3, would you make a the picks in day three, man?
- 8:21[SPEAKER_03]: They'd co-paint in the quarterback.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_03]: They'd Mike Morris, the guard at Georgia, and then obviously those three semi-exciting picks on and round number seven with who are Bernard and I think there's some excitement on with new ski as well.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_03]: What did you make of day three for the birds?
- 8:36[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think how that went.
- 8:37[SPEAKER_00]: I like the, you know, basically lottery tickets for better or worse, that they took there.
- 8:43[SPEAKER_00]: I thought they were going to draft a quarterback.
- 8:45[SPEAKER_00]: I've been saying that for a while.
- 8:48[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I don't know, there's a lot of talk.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, you'd taste them, he'll.
- 8:51[SPEAKER_00]: Skull Peyton going to pay that roll.
- 8:54[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I'm not going to roll it out.
- 8:57[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe they have a vision for him.
- 8:58[SPEAKER_00]: It's just a matter of I don't think that guy's going to be active on game day.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_00]: It's typically the only up to quarterbacks active and then they have the third quarterback and, you know, for him to even be the third quarterback, it's going to take presumably maybe Tanner McKee getting traded.
- 9:13[SPEAKER_00]: So we'll see on that front.
- 9:14[SPEAKER_00]: But
- 9:15[SPEAKER_00]: Regardless, I still take, I like taking the chance on a developmental quarterback there, trying to get cheaper potentially at quarterback when it comes to a backup.
- 9:25[SPEAKER_00]: The other dart throws they took, you know, why not add more some more offensive line depth, Mike and Morris as a guy who has kind of like the size and some of the athleticism of a guy who would go higher than he did in the draft, so you take a chance on him there.
- 9:44[SPEAKER_00]: Reed Blankenship's name and did caution and fairness to himself.
- 9:48[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, he was really, he was really nice with Reed.
- 9:52[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 9:52[SPEAKER_01]: So like, why didn't you solve them, dude?
- 9:54[SPEAKER_00]: No, all right.
- 9:55[SPEAKER_00]: Well, because it's all about the money, right?
- 9:58[SPEAKER_00]: And why not if you like Reed, but if you can get someone who's a lot cheaper and they feel like they can get you something approaching that, which again, I think it's a very,
- 10:08[SPEAKER_00]: It's not fair.
- 10:09[SPEAKER_00]: It takes back all his needs to be rallying.
- 10:12[SPEAKER_00]: That's a high bar to clear, but they clearly see something where It's a mold that they feel they might be able to attain at least some point in time.
- 10:20[SPEAKER_02]: Well, there's also opportunity like, you know, when you talk about Mark L. Belly's got no opportunity for him You know massive injuries co-patence got no opportunity.
- 10:30[SPEAKER_02]: Mike Amaris has no opportunity
- 10:32[SPEAKER_02]: and Gishan James Nubi has no opportunity.
- 10:36[SPEAKER_02]: So the one guy where you could even see a path the playing time is Cole Wiss-Nusky.
- 10:43[SPEAKER_02]: And that might shut down.
- 10:44[SPEAKER_02]: He might go get a veteran safety and that will stop.
- 10:48[SPEAKER_02]: I should have mentioned Cole paint as well when I was talking about skiing.
- 10:52[SPEAKER_02]: Like Garrett Nussmire was there.
- 10:55[SPEAKER_02]: Now, there could have been health concerns.
- 10:57[SPEAKER_02]: Obviously, all the way fell.
- 10:59[SPEAKER_02]: The Eagles might had a red flag.
- 11:01[SPEAKER_02]: We don't know of that.
- 11:03[SPEAKER_02]: But even guys, like Luke Altmaier, a lot of Illinois, more of a point guard style quarterback that you would think of with the Kyle Shannon off.
- 11:12[SPEAKER_02]: And they take the left hand to chase an animal, like best player.
- 11:18[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I thought it was interesting the way how he went about it.
- 11:23[SPEAKER_02]: But with coal paint and I agree with you.
- 11:24[SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, and I love taste and hell.
- 11:27[SPEAKER_02]: I love me as a player, but it bothers you to shit like why are you taking your quarterback off the field or putting him out to the, I hate that.
- 11:35[SPEAKER_02]: It's like, it's weird.
- 11:38[SPEAKER_02]: So I like the player, but I don't like the thought process of having a package for a coal paint and type player in your,
- 11:47[SPEAKER_02]: you're taking either Jalen Hertz off the field or putting him out wide and he's just you're playing 10 on 11.
- 11:54[SPEAKER_02]: I don't like that.
- 11:56[SPEAKER_02]: Why do people love that, BLG?
- 11:58[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I was always a gift in my mind.
- 12:00[SPEAKER_00]: Like if the team playing the scenes, it's a gift to them when the scenes were taking Drew Reeves.
- 12:07[SPEAKER_00]: That's not the feel of that.
- 12:08[SPEAKER_02]: Hold her back, hold her back, hold her back, hold her back.
- 12:12[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 12:13[SPEAKER_00]: You can do some fun stuff with him.
- 12:14[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe he's a tight-end or whatever, but yeah, it's about it.
- 12:17[SPEAKER_03]: Does it make you feel like you should, like, better about trading, tanner McKee potentially?
- 12:21[SPEAKER_03]: I was like the opposite.
- 12:22[SPEAKER_03]: I'm like pay tanner McKee to be the backup.
- 12:24[SPEAKER_03]: Now, I know that that's probably unlikely, but doesn't make me feel any better about moving on from McKee or Dalton for that matter.
- 12:30[SPEAKER_03]: How did you see that perspective or that thought process?
- 12:33[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I still think it would be like ideal to get a nice offer for him, but you're not just trading him just to trade him.
- 12:39[SPEAKER_00]: So I think, you know, it's possible, you know, there's injury or some team gets kind of disillusioned about their quarterback situation later in the summer.
- 12:46[SPEAKER_00]: And if you reach that point in time, and you get a, like, a reasonably strong offer, you know, let's say third rampaker, second rampaker, something third that maybe can become a second.
- 12:55[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm kind of strong offer that I'm willing to kind of deal with Mickey at that point, because he's probably only going to be around for this year.
- 13:01[SPEAKER_00]: You move, Dalton up to the number two, and then you have Peyton developing there.
- 13:05[SPEAKER_00]: It doesn't make me feel like super secure in the position, but it's more about to me just to offer you would get from Mickey.
- 13:12[SPEAKER_02]: All right, with all due respect to McCoy Lemon, who I thought was a good pick, the most impactful move on the weekend was Jonathan Grinard.
- 13:20[SPEAKER_02]: Boy, I mean, this guy is a home run.
- 13:23[SPEAKER_02]: I, you know, Minnesota is a mess.
- 13:26[SPEAKER_02]: They don't have a GM.
- 13:27[SPEAKER_02]: They got salary cap issues.
- 13:31[SPEAKER_02]: He's a great pass, Russer, great all around player.
- 13:34[SPEAKER_02]: And we just met him, he's an obvious leader, was a team captain there, just carries himself like a professional.
- 13:46[SPEAKER_02]: Why did people keep giving good players to how he rose me?
- 13:50[SPEAKER_02]: Two third round, two third round, three third round pick.
- 13:55[SPEAKER_02]: I don't care.
- 13:56[SPEAKER_02]: I love this move, B.O.G.
- 13:58[SPEAKER_02]: And I think this defense is gonna be better this year than it was last year.
- 14:05[SPEAKER_00]: I think that's, I think that's possible.
- 14:09[SPEAKER_00]: I'd certainly have confidence in the defense, but when it comes to Gunard specifically, I think he's one of the most underrated players in the NFL because you look at all these past pressures that he's nearby in terms of the money he's getting.
- 14:23[SPEAKER_00]: And it's guys who have kind of just been like those players or these star names, like William or St. Micah Parsons, Adrian Hudson and T.J. Watt.
- 14:32[SPEAKER_00]: Denial Hunter, Miles Gear at Max Crosby, Nick Bosa, like, and so on and so forth.
- 14:36[SPEAKER_00]: It's guys that kind of like have just always been that alpha past pressure, and it took an hour to a little bit of time, you know, kind of to get to that point in the NFL relative to those guys.
- 14:46[SPEAKER_00]: But he's there.
- 14:47[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, he was second in pressures in NFL in 2024, then even last year, the sac production wasn't there.
- 14:54[SPEAKER_00]: But he's still one of the top players in the league in terms of like pressure percentage and a lot of those kind of metrics.
- 14:59[SPEAKER_00]: Also, by the way, really good against the run also has good coverage numbers, you know, it's not something you're going to do all game long, but it's something he can he has the ability that lets them to do, which is something, you know, the cranio is going to utilize at some point in time.
- 15:14[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, I just think there are so many boxes that he checks off and he talked about it, John, to just the culture.
- 15:20[SPEAKER_00]: Additionally, he seems like the personality.
- 15:23[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, this is like a no brainer kind of move for me.
- 15:25[SPEAKER_03]: I think it was a really good pick up.
- 15:30[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's like fair.
- 15:31[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think it's like, oh, my gosh, they totally bamboosled the Vikings considering that what's two thirds, you also are paying him, it's not like free.
- 15:42[SPEAKER_00]: That's a fair, I think it's a totally reasonably fair.
- 15:47[SPEAKER_00]: If anything, I think it's skews towards being the bargain, but I think it's a totally fair price to pay.
- 15:52[SPEAKER_00]: And I also think Johnny mentioned it there.
- 15:54[SPEAKER_00]: Vikings don't have a GM, like you should absolutely be the thing to make trades.
- 15:57[SPEAKER_00]: The team that doesn't even have a GM.
- 16:00[SPEAKER_02]: And they took one pic, Jacobi Thomas is safety from Miami now.
- 16:05[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know a lot about them, but I'm going to bet Jonathan has a bigger impact and they'll get another third round pick.
- 16:15[SPEAKER_02]: I thought they'd have to give up 54 going in, so I'm like, to me, it's a home run of a deal.
- 16:23[SPEAKER_02]: And we'll see how it shakes out.
- 16:25[SPEAKER_02]: But I think that was there by far their most impactful move on draft weekend, and I think it's going to be a home run for the organization.
- 16:36[SPEAKER_02]: What you think about the rest of the NFCs and their drafts, the HLGB?
- 16:41[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think the most teams, I think they all did a pretty good job for the most part.
- 16:47[SPEAKER_00]: I think that's helped by the fact they were all very high.
- 16:53[SPEAKER_00]: So they had a lot of high picks and then in the case of the Giants and Cowboys, the extra pick, the extra first round picks.
- 16:59[SPEAKER_00]: So you have to...
- 17:00[SPEAKER_00]: factor that in but yeah, I think there's a pretty good draft class for those teams Cabo was giving Caleb downs, you know, I don't think any Eagles fan really enjoyed seeing that Mel High Lawrence picked is is an interesting one you know kind of didn't really expect that the Giants get the two you know picks early on with Reese
- 17:21[SPEAKER_00]: and the tackle that they took, the commanders didn't have as many draft picks with all the trades they've made, but still get sunny styles, so I think is a really nice fit for their defense there, when you're maybe losing Bobby Wagner.
- 17:33[SPEAKER_00]: So I don't think any of them really like super botched the draft, which is, you know, not the best thing for the Eagles.
- 17:40[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you.
- 17:41[SPEAKER_02]: Good, just as a quick follow-up, because some of the minds said that,
- 17:47[SPEAKER_02]: You're right, they're all picking high and they all, I think the Caleb down's I gave the cow, but that's my best pick of the dread because I'd love the player now Malica Lawrence I think was a little bit of a reach, but I worried about the giants more and that's strange because they've been so bad for so long, but I think John Harballs there and they're going to start making good decisions whereas Dallas
- 18:11[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, they start from a better position.
- 18:13[SPEAKER_02]: They have more talent, but Jerry Jones is going to rail that and Washington, I haven't been impressed by by Adam Peters.
- 18:21[SPEAKER_02]: So I kind of start worrying about the giants more, but overall, I think the Eagles have such an advantage in the front office.
- 18:29[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's going to stay Eagles and everybody else at least in the short term.
- 18:35[SPEAKER_02]: Do you think anybody's closing the gap?
- 18:38[SPEAKER_00]: I think the cabways are absolutely, and look, I don't buy them when it comes to the postseason.
- 18:44[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not giving them the benefit of the doubt when it comes to the time.
- 18:47[SPEAKER_03]: They got to earn that, right?
- 18:48[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, absolutely.
- 18:50[SPEAKER_00]: But when it comes to being able to be competitive and maybe win the NFC, you stabs absolutely.
- 18:54[SPEAKER_00]: We've seen them do that and look, their defense was horrendous last year.
- 19:00[SPEAKER_00]: And I just think that between getting Christian Parker and adding some of the players that
- 19:07[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know that it's going to be an elite defense, but I'm confident that it's getting to a point where it'll be at least not the total disaster that it was last year.
- 19:16[SPEAKER_00]: And if you combine that with an offense that I think is still going to be really strong for them, assuming nothing.
- 19:21[SPEAKER_00]: A good quarterback even though he goes spancing when I say it, but he's definitely, he's not come a big in the big spots kind of like an entire jail and hurts that way in some of the biggest
- 19:34[SPEAKER_00]: Certainly, you can get them to the playoffs, for sure.
- 19:37[SPEAKER_00]: I agree, but yeah, I don't think the offense is really going to fall off unless, you know, we'll see what happens with pickings of something happens.
- 19:44[SPEAKER_00]: We're there.
- 19:45[SPEAKER_00]: I reserve the right to change my mind, maybe.
- 19:46[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but I still think that's going to be a really potent offense, and then you get the defense better.
- 19:52[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that's a team that's going to really threaten the Eagles for the NFC East Leap.
- 19:56[SPEAKER_03]: It's going to be interesting, uh, you're a BLJ looking at the Eagles undrafted free agents any of them excite you somebody gave me a stat I don't know.
- 20:04[SPEAKER_03]: I don't want to be inaccurate with it, but you know something something above 25% of the league is made up of like undrafted guys There's something along those lines right there's Rick Sarah Kelly.
- 20:13[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, there's a lot of
- 20:13[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, right.
- 20:15[SPEAKER_03]: That's what was wrecked yesterday.
- 20:16[SPEAKER_03]: What you make it the Eagles undrafted class.
- 20:18[SPEAKER_03]: Obviously a lot of hype on the aunt they lost in a three or started Alabama day quorum right in big catch tight end guy at a Ole Miss and then the guard at Alabama and the corner at a bowl miss and then a couple others What you make it he goes undrafted class and to any names excite you there.
- 20:33[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I really like the corner right.
- 20:35[SPEAKER_00]: I'm really can't wait to watch this guy.
- 20:37[SPEAKER_00]: You know
- 20:37[SPEAKER_02]: You know he's going to be a guy.
- 20:39[SPEAKER_02]: It's always the tall pass catchers.
- 20:41[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it really falls in love with it, rookie camp in OTAs
- 20:45[SPEAKER_00]: He just looks like a guy, you know, when people talk about running through a brick wall, like he looks like he wants to run through an actual brick wall, not just like a metaphor.
- 20:53[SPEAKER_02]: Well, we had somebody, we had somebody in the chat said he runs like Derek Henry, right?
- 20:59[SPEAKER_03]: But hey, John, John had to say hey, he's an undrafted free agent.
- 21:02[SPEAKER_03]: That's not going to turn into Derek Henry.
- 21:04[SPEAKER_00]: Well, it's going to have to watch out for Cooper to need to practice that.
- 21:07[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, sure.
- 21:08[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I'm going to guarantee that the best, I can't guarantee it because they might bring in another one, but the one with the best, maybe beyond McIlemon, the best opportunity to contribute,
- 21:33[SPEAKER_02]: He's going to contribute unless he shits the bed and they bring in somebody else right Rocco underwood so that's the name to keep an eye on just you need a long snapper on and that's potential unfortunately for these under at the guys the Eagles are very deep and they don't there's not a lot of opportunity like they come right.
- 21:55[SPEAKER_02]: I got a lot of tight ends.
- 21:56[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, you know, Kenny replace E.J.
- 22:00[SPEAKER_02]: Jenkins on the practice squad, sure, if you can get them through waivers, guy, like, Giante Lawson, you know, who's he going to beat out?
- 22:09[SPEAKER_02]: It's really difficult.
- 22:10[SPEAKER_02]: So, um, but that's a good thing.
- 22:14[SPEAKER_02]: If you have a lot of undirected players making your team, you're probably not.
- 22:17[SPEAKER_02]: I remember.
- 22:19[SPEAKER_02]: I think in last year was the Vikings had seven undrafted pre-agents make the team.
- 22:23[SPEAKER_02]: That is not a good sign, people.
- 22:26[SPEAKER_02]: That is not a good sign.
- 22:27[SPEAKER_00]: It's too many.
- 22:28[SPEAKER_00]: We'll be one or two.
- 22:29[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 22:32[SPEAKER_02]: And maybe there will be a raid blanket ship long-term.
- 22:36[SPEAKER_02]: Unlikely, but it's always fun to see them.
- 22:40[SPEAKER_02]: And big-time players like Lawson started a lot of games that I love about them.
- 22:47[SPEAKER_02]: You know, who knows, with some of those guys, but, um, what's your favorite day three pick?
- 22:55[SPEAKER_00]: That's personal favorite.
- 22:56[SPEAKER_00]: It has to be Bernard.
- 22:57[SPEAKER_00]: Just from the standpoint of like, it's all upside.
- 23:00[SPEAKER_00]: There's no downside.
- 23:01[SPEAKER_00]: If he doesn't work out, no one cares.
- 23:02[SPEAKER_00]: It was one of the final picks in the draft.
- 23:04[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, true.
- 23:05[SPEAKER_00]: Um, it's literally just like, get the think about what it works.
- 23:11[SPEAKER_02]: Can I tell you, I was disgusted on myself at a
- 23:17[SPEAKER_02]: The minute I found out about who our burn are and I read about them.
- 23:22[SPEAKER_02]: I said, oh, the Eagle Circulette in this guy.
- 23:24[SPEAKER_02]: 100%.
- 23:26[SPEAKER_02]: And then I forgot about it, B.L.G.
- 23:28[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm sitting there on day three.
- 23:30[SPEAKER_02]: We're all, we just want to get the hell out of there.
- 23:32[SPEAKER_02]: You know, it's getting, and how we trades down in the sex round.
- 23:36[SPEAKER_02]: Are you kidding me?
- 23:38[SPEAKER_02]: You told us to just drive stinks.
- 23:41[SPEAKER_02]: And you're getting two picks in the seventh round.
- 23:43[SPEAKER_02]: It disgusted me.
- 23:44[SPEAKER_02]: And I forgot about Bernard, and I said,
- 23:47[SPEAKER_02]: And the minute the first question I asked in the, in the, in the pre, was that was about an hard, right?
- 23:53[SPEAKER_02]: Should target, no mouse would target a seventh round pick.
- 23:57[SPEAKER_02]: And that's what how we did.
- 23:58[SPEAKER_02]: get who our Bernard.
- 24:01[SPEAKER_00]: Absolutely.
- 24:02[SPEAKER_00]: It's exciting.
- 24:03[SPEAKER_00]: It's crazy.
- 24:04[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think we can properly appreciate just how much of a free-gathlete is.
- 24:08[SPEAKER_00]: Like when you look at those comparisons to Miles Garrett, and obviously he's nothing closest.
- 24:12[SPEAKER_00]: The football player, but just some of their physical ability, it's insane.
- 24:16[SPEAKER_00]: It's insane.
- 24:18[SPEAKER_00]: It's insane.
- 24:18[SPEAKER_00]: And it's funny to me too from a standpoint of like, I think deals make that pick in part because like they've earned the equity, how he rose
- 24:27[SPEAKER_00]: Like if you're one of these GMs on the hot seat, I don't think you can kind of get away with, like, oh no, no way.
- 24:33[SPEAKER_00]: And also you're going to be around if that guy turns into something.
- 24:36[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, obviously, how he is the security to be able to do that.
- 24:39[SPEAKER_03]: All right, Bill, Joe, give you what I gave Rick yesterday, Rick Saratola.
- 24:43[SPEAKER_03]: In the next three seasons for the Eagles, over under a half a game that Bernard will appear in a regular season game on the field and whatever role will he reach the field.
- 24:56[SPEAKER_00]: in the next three years I think three yes I think three is a fate like I think at third year it's kind of going to be the point so it's a good over under by you but I think it's going to be that third year because if you go back to Jordan Milada what he was 2018 right then it was a did it and I think all because of an injury
- 25:15[SPEAKER_02]: to 2020 right yeah so yeah but it was his third year so yeah I think that's what you're kind of looking at there yeah well it's a Y D T they got him a D T I'm like dude I'm with you Miles Garrett put him on the edge let him go get a quarter back always too big he's like three three oh five yeah but he might be able I'm just Garrett way Miles Garrett actually 75 but she's like he looks like he's
- 25:39[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I don't I don't think they're like married to keeping him at a certain position.
- 25:43[SPEAKER_00]: I think there's going to see what what works, what can work or what doesn't work.
- 25:47[SPEAKER_02]: Well, you're interesting.
- 25:48[SPEAKER_02]: Did you see Jordan my lot in Stalks on Kelsey's podcast?
- 25:53[SPEAKER_02]: I don't want to get in the style and stuff.
- 25:55[SPEAKER_02]: We can talk about that next week, but
- 25:58[SPEAKER_02]: You know, Jordan was talking about, and he specifically brought up Nate Herbig saying, yeah, you know, trying to, I think a lot of people don't know that like the yields were on the precipice of pulling the plug and saying, this isn't going to work, and I remember talking to Stoutland in 2020 for whatever reason we got him close to
- 26:24[SPEAKER_02]: When my lot of was going to be forced in the San Francisco game, and we all thought it was going to be a disaster because Nick Bows is out there.
- 26:33[SPEAKER_02]: And I remember somebody specifically asked in Stoutland, do you think he's ready?
- 26:39[SPEAKER_02]: And he's like, I don't know.
- 26:41[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you know, stats very honest.
- 26:44[SPEAKER_02]: He's like, I have no idea.
- 26:45[SPEAKER_02]: I hope so.
- 26:47[SPEAKER_02]: But I have no idea.
- 26:48[SPEAKER_02]: And he'd just throw him in the deep end of the pool and he played.
- 26:53[SPEAKER_02]: It was unbelievable.
- 26:54[SPEAKER_02]: That story is just, there's going to be talks written about it.
- 26:59[SPEAKER_02]: It is.
- 27:01[SPEAKER_02]: unbelievable.
- 27:02[SPEAKER_02]: And that's why I kind of go to the opposite way.
- 27:05[SPEAKER_02]: I'm rooting for him, but it's so against the odds.
- 27:10[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 27:11[SPEAKER_02]: I would say probably not going to work out with the who are.
- 27:15[SPEAKER_00]: Absolutely, that is the most likely scenario by the way.
- 27:18[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, well, like when you said Bill, you'd like nobody's going to blank.
- 27:21[SPEAKER_03]: Exactly.
- 27:22[SPEAKER_00]: Work, you know.
- 27:22[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 27:23[SPEAKER_02]: Take a chance, why not?
- 27:26[SPEAKER_02]: I love the chance.
- 27:26[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 27:27[SPEAKER_02]: I love the story.
- 27:27[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to be thrilled to say him and watch it.
- 27:30[SPEAKER_02]: And the same thing.
- 27:32[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, you remember practices about how Joe Osman used to destroy the story.
- 27:39[SPEAKER_02]: Just an amazing story.
- 27:42[SPEAKER_02]: I can't because we're in it and he's turned into such a good player.
- 27:46[SPEAKER_03]: I think people forget it's like I think in the future John that will age very well for Jordan a lot of the story of of my lot of field you last question for me I know we mentioned them a little earlier but Mike Morris I thought that was an interesting fact is huge Georgia guard who played I think in 19 games as a guard for them at both right and left guard he's got this crazy athleticism profile apparently just a little bit overweight what
- 28:15[SPEAKER_03]: could find himself on the field and at some point in the next couple of years.
- 28:19[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's interesting to see he fell that far just because of the profile you're talking about.
- 28:23[SPEAKER_00]: I was reading something from ESPN, leading up to the draft of the Jeremy Fowler put this out on some information on some of the more polarizing prospects in the draft.
- 28:34[SPEAKER_00]: By the way, my high lemon was on here, as well as Mike Amores.
- 28:37[SPEAKER_00]: And there are certainly some questions I think about maybe the work ethic that was included in there.
- 28:46[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, he fell for a reason clearly.
- 28:49[SPEAKER_00]: So, you have to kind of wonder what that reason is.
- 28:51[SPEAKER_00]: But, you know, if that's overblown or he, you know, comes to Philadelphia and the coaching is good.
- 28:57[SPEAKER_00]: And he locks in the sports system around him, you know, it's possible.
- 29:00[SPEAKER_00]: He has a pathway here to being developed just from the tool perspective being able to develop.
- 29:05[SPEAKER_00]: into a starter entirely possible.
- 29:07[SPEAKER_00]: He also doesn't even make the roster as a really, just because of where he was taken.
- 29:11[SPEAKER_03]: He's right in the establishment.
- 29:13[SPEAKER_03]: So, you know, he's going to develop these guys.
- 29:15[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know.
- 29:16[SPEAKER_03]: We don't know.
- 29:16[SPEAKER_03]: I'm not saying Cooper can't.
- 29:18[SPEAKER_03]: We just don't know.
- 29:18[SPEAKER_03]: I said you have a big difference.
- 29:20[SPEAKER_02]: All right, John, you got any more there?
- 29:23[SPEAKER_02]: Not just the Eagles ultimately got their Georgia and Alabama players.
- 29:26[SPEAKER_02]: Had to go on Zretto route, but they got them with Alabama, but they got Georgia and Alabama.
- 29:32[SPEAKER_02]: And it's worked out for them, so who knows?
- 29:34[SPEAKER_02]: They love Kirby Smart's program, a big strong guy.
- 29:39[SPEAKER_02]: I know that with Mike and Lawrence, but
- 29:41[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, we're not, we're an uncharted territory with Chris Cooper development.
- 29:46[SPEAKER_02]: We don't know.
- 29:47[SPEAKER_02]: So, that's, that's part of it as well.
- 29:51[SPEAKER_02]: At brandygountain on xbleedinggreenation.com, make sure you read BLG in the staff.
- 30:00[SPEAKER_02]: They do a tremendous job over there, and we'll talk to you next week, buddy.
- 30:06[SPEAKER_00]: All right, sounds good, guys.
- 30:07[SPEAKER_03]: Thanks, Bill.
- 30:08[SPEAKER_03]: Jay, there's BLG joining us right here on Burst 365.
- 30:11[SPEAKER_03]: Great show today.
- 30:12[SPEAKER_03]: I always go to talk to BLG and Mike Gill here on our Wednesday edition of the program, Fresh Off.
- 30:17[SPEAKER_03]: The NFL drafts.
- 30:18[SPEAKER_03]: Some good takeaways there from Brandon Lee.
- 30:20[SPEAKER_03]: Goutlin.
- 30:21[SPEAKER_03]: I was always good talking to him and, uh, and my guilt, but John, a lot of excitement in the air after these new additions to the Philadelphia Eagles.
- 30:28[SPEAKER_03]: I come away from a thinking the West Coast offense is on the way for how long I don't know.
- 30:34[SPEAKER_03]: Like you said, what point do they pull the plug and default back, but I think it's common Johnny Mac.
- 30:41[SPEAKER_03]: I think it's common.
- 30:43[SPEAKER_03]: I don't think it's common.
- 30:46[SPEAKER_02]: Well, the true West Coast, first of all, yeah, first of all, the true West Coast offense doesn't exist any longer.
- 30:56[SPEAKER_02]: I would say that number one, and you're talking about Bill Walsh and they just don't have the time to teach that.
- 31:02[SPEAKER_02]: So I get what you're saying, it's more the shant of hand the McBasedile, which they're going to try to do.
- 31:10[SPEAKER_02]: But again, Eli Stowers has nothing to do with that offense.
- 31:17[SPEAKER_02]: Now, you're looking for George Kiddo.
- 31:19[SPEAKER_02]: You're looking for Tucker crap.
- 31:20[SPEAKER_02]: You're that's who you're looking for.
- 31:24[SPEAKER_02]: So I kind of look at what I mean, like a replacement for AJ Brown more than he is a tight end.
- 31:28[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe it is.
- 31:29[SPEAKER_02]: You know, if you want to look at the out of the box, not, you know, to me, that was what stood out.
- 31:36[SPEAKER_02]: And I wrote on Sports Illustrated to me how he was like, not this ain't a scheme trip.
- 31:40[SPEAKER_02]: I'm just taking the guys who I think are the best players that this position.
- 31:45[SPEAKER_02]: at this time of position in the draft and he did that consistently, because Cole Peyton ate in a bit for the West Coast offense or what people think the West Coast offense is.
- 31:58[SPEAKER_02]: That's for damn sure.
- 31:59[SPEAKER_02]: That's a fifth round pick, so it doesn't matter as much.
- 32:06[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and I thought the, the, the, the offensive lineman, Mark L. Bell, Mike and Mars are more fits for the Jeff Stoutland philosophy better if you wanted to gauge it.
- 32:18[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I, I, I was the opposite at first.
- 32:22[SPEAKER_02]: I thought, McCye Lennon, I'm like, all right.
