- 1:01[SPEAKER_00]: The ultra-left wing LA Mayor Karen Bass is once again finding herself in a very serious hot water.
- 1:08[SPEAKER_00]: Since 2021, the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority, known as LASA.
- 1:15[SPEAKER_00]: has received more than $1 billion in federal funding.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_00]: That's our money, including a jaw dropping $220 million in 2024 alone.
- 1:27[SPEAKER_00]: Biden's last year in office.
- 1:29[SPEAKER_00]: Mayor Karen Bass personally sits.
- 1:32[SPEAKER_00]: on the organization's 10 member board appointing half of its members herself, she's literally at the table.
- 1:40[SPEAKER_00]: And so she is the one that federal investigators are increasingly focusing their sights on.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_00]: It all began when a federal judge commissioned an independent audit of roughly $2.5 billion in LA homeless spending, which found documentation so poor and accounting so fragmented that auditors couldn't reliably trace where the money went.
- 2:06[SPEAKER_00]: that triggered a state audit, finding that California spent nearly 24 billion dollars over five years without consistently tracking outcomes.
- 2:18[SPEAKER_00]: Again, another way of saying they don't know where the money went.
- 2:23[SPEAKER_00]: HUD then launched its own probe, suspending losses funding in June after finding a clear pattern of fraud, including $69 million in overdue provider payments.
- 2:37[SPEAKER_00]: Separately, federal and county prosecutors built individual fraud cases, most notably against non-profit director Alexander Sufer.
- 2:47[SPEAKER_00]: who charged, he's charged with diverting 23 million dollars into a Westwood mansion, a Greek vacation home, 125 grand range rover, and luxury travel while feeding homeless clients instant ramen.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you literally cannot make this stuff up.
- 3:11[SPEAKER_00]: Congress' own review of LASA contracts, also uncovering a number of examples of self-dealing, including a deal benefiting the former CEO's husband.
- 3:21[SPEAKER_00]: Together, these overlapping court-ordered audits, HUD's investigation, and criminal probes are what exposed the money as unaccounted for, prompting an upcoming congressional hearing to try to get to the bottom of the scheduled for next week.
- 3:37[SPEAKER_00]: And at the center of it all, of course,
- 3:39[SPEAKER_00]: is Mayor Karen Bass, Congressman Tim Bershatt, a Tennessee Republican who chairs the House subcommittee on delivering on government efficiency, sent Bass a four-page letter demanding that she testified a hearing titled, I love this.
- 3:54[SPEAKER_00]: You're going to love it.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_00]: fixing fraud and failure and federally funded homelessness services.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_00]: It's scheduled for September 15th, and Perchett's letter did not pull any punches, stated plainly that because LA officials have not adequately protected federal taxpayer dollars, it appears that many nonprofits to which those funds have been allocated are not using them for their intended purposes.
- 4:21[SPEAKER_00]: He's also demanding nearly seven years of documents, correspondence between the mayor's office, the city council and county supervisors regarding LASA's management all due by September 14th the day before LASA's supposed to show up.
- 4:36[SPEAKER_00]: Guess what happened?
- 4:39[SPEAKER_00]: Bass said, no.
- 4:41[SPEAKER_00]: Bass said, no.
- 4:43[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not doing it.
- 4:44[SPEAKER_00]: Her attorney sent a letter back to Purchatt and saying, in effect, she's not available.
- 4:49[SPEAKER_00]: That's her response to a congressional demand to account for a billion dollars of lost taxpayer funds.
- 4:56[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not available.
- 4:58[SPEAKER_00]: Now, technically, this particular letter was not a binding subpoena, though House subcommittees absolutely do have the authority to compel testimony through, if they could send a binding subpoena if they want to, and failing to comply with an actual subpoena could lead to contempt of Congress proceedings.
- 5:18[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, think about the optics here for a second.
- 5:20[SPEAKER_00]: If you've got nothing to hide, right?
- 5:23[SPEAKER_00]: And you admit, billions have been lost.
- 5:27[SPEAKER_00]: Well, then you show up, you answer the questions, you figure out what went wrong and you go home.
- 5:33[SPEAKER_00]: When the person overseeing a billion dollar taxpayer program suddenly becomes unavailable, the moment Congress starts asking real questions about where those billions are going, that tells you everything you need to know.
- 5:45[SPEAKER_00]: And the other thing that tells us everything we need to know is what Karen Bass just did as of today.
- 5:52[SPEAKER_00]: Summers saying that she is deliberately trying to cover up her tracks.
- 5:57[SPEAKER_00]: Well, it work.
- 5:58[SPEAKER_00]: That's exactly what we're about to find out.
- 6:02[SPEAKER_00]: But first, let me ask you something.
- 6:04[SPEAKER_00]: Did you see the headline this week?
- 6:07[SPEAKER_00]: Even Bill Gates is warning there's no plan for the economic upheaval AI could bring.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_00]: No, no plan, that's preposterous.
- 6:16[SPEAKER_00]: I read that headline and I had to pause for a moment to reflect on what that actually means.
- 6:20[SPEAKER_00]: We've worked hard, we've saved, we cared for our families, we trusted the system, but when the people at the top remake the economy, ordinary families, folks like you and me,
- 6:31[SPEAKER_00]: are left wondering what happens to everything we've built.
- 6:34[SPEAKER_00]: The globalist elites make the decisions we live with the consequences.
- 6:39[SPEAKER_00]: They tell us to wait, trust them, and then we're supposed to hope they're going to figure things out.
- 6:45[SPEAKER_00]: But why should your family's future depend on the system?
- 6:48[SPEAKER_00]: who's own architects admit they have no plan.
- 6:52[SPEAKER_00]: That's why my good friend Troy Newton created backpack trader live and I want you to register for it right now just click on that link below.

- 7:08[SPEAKER_00]: I want you there because there's another way to approach your future.
- 7:11[SPEAKER_00]: There's a way you can empower yourself to be immune to what the elites decide.
- 7:17[SPEAKER_00]: Instead of waiting on the next headline, I mean, imagine beginning to build something in your own, a plan.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_00]: that you understand more confidence, a way to build your financial future despite what craziness is happening in the world, imagine the pressure that you could take off of yourself.

- 8:32[SPEAKER_00]: Let's go get it.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_00]: Well, what do you know, as of today, Mayor Karen Bass is stepping down from Lassa's governing commission, just at the very same time, congressional scrutiny of the agency intensifies.
- 8:47[SPEAKER_00]: Remember she was on, the board she was ahead of the board.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_00]: She appointed half the board members herself.
- 8:53[SPEAKER_00]: She was sitting at the table at the very government agency that lost billions of taxpayer dollars and now her offices confirmed that she's stepping down.
- 9:03[SPEAKER_00]: Saying she'll appoint a replacement, but she hasn't named who.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_00]: As it turns out, she couldn't even run the board competently.
- 9:10[SPEAKER_00]: She skipped 13 of 21 last-to-commission meetings over a recent 12-month period, far exceeding the four absence threshold that can trigger removal under the agency's own bylaws.
- 9:24[SPEAKER_00]: So again, she's a rules for the not-for-me kind of player, her three-year term technically expired June 30th, she remained on the board until just today.
- 9:34[SPEAKER_00]: But the key here, obviously, is that bass now appears to be distancing herself from the very agency that lost billions of taxpayer dollars to these homeless funding schemes in complete lack of oversight.
- 9:47[SPEAKER_00]: And that, in the end, really is the story here, how humanitarian organizations
- 9:53[SPEAKER_00]: have become fronts for the personal enrichment of leftist politicians and bureaucrats.
- 9:59[SPEAKER_00]: USAID's decade-long, a pre-ovestant bribery scheme, so a contracting officer funnel $550 million dollars.
- 10:11[SPEAKER_00]: in contracts, in exchange for bribes, disguised as country club weddings, NBA tickets, and mortgage-down payments.
- 10:21[SPEAKER_00]: Investigators later found USAID funding initiatives touching George Sorris' Open Society foundations, and the Rockefeller Foundation, an institution led by a former Obama era, USAID administrator, who staff donated exclusively to progressive political campaigns.
- 10:38[SPEAKER_00]: Minnesota, of course.
- 10:40[SPEAKER_00]: It was home to what federal prosecutors called the largest fraud scandal in history and that's made $9 billion stolen from high risk Medicaid programs since 2018 out of roughly 18 billion allocated feeding our future alone claim to serve 91 million meals to children during COVID and stolen nearly $250 million spending on luxury cars and mansions and overseas real estate.
- 11:06[SPEAKER_00]: upwards of a hundred people have been charged and convicted and the fraud spread further.
- 11:12[SPEAKER_00]: Autism therapy providers falsely certified children with autism to built 46.6 million while housing stability programs saw providers building Medicaid for services never rendered.
- 11:26[SPEAKER_00]: And we just keep going on and on.
- 11:28[SPEAKER_00]: The common thread here is that humanitarian branding
- 11:36[SPEAKER_00]: Empowering marginalized communities provides political insulation and public sympathy that shields insiders from scrutiny long enough to self-deal.
- 11:48[SPEAKER_00]: Week contract oversight board appointment stack with political allies
- 11:53[SPEAKER_00]: NGOs functioning as extensions of ideological networks rather than independent charities.
- 11:59[SPEAKER_00]: All of that lets taxpayer and donor money quietly become personal enrichment vehicles for people who talk about compassion and public while writing themselves checks in private.
- 12:13[SPEAKER_00]: So where does this leave Karen Bass?
- 12:15[SPEAKER_00]: Well, she is on record insisting that the accountability problems predate her administration and that she's already restructuring a broken system she inherited.
- 12:26[SPEAKER_00]: But Congress wants to know if these problems were already this serious, why did it take federal auditors, HUD investigators, and criminal prosecutors to drag everyone of these scandals
- 12:44[SPEAKER_00]: Whether or not pass eventually gets compelled to testify under an actual subpoena, one thing is already undeniable.
- 12:51[SPEAKER_00]: Over a billion federal dollars flowed through an agency that HUD itself said exhibited a clear pattern of fraud.
- 12:59[SPEAKER_00]: California burned through $24 billion statewide without being able to prove any of it worked.
- 13:06[SPEAKER_00]: And the human toll of that failure is still sitting on skid row while grifters by mansions and westwood and vacation homes in Greece.
- 13:15[SPEAKER_00]: That's not compassion.
- 13:17[SPEAKER_00]: That's a taxpayer funded racket dressed up in the language of caring about the homeless.
- 13:23[SPEAKER_00]: And it took a Republican lead house subcommittee to finally start pulling back the curtain.
