• 0:07
Speaker 1: The Season with Peter Schrager is a production of the
• 0:09
Speaker 1: NFL in partnership with iHeartRadio. What's Up Everybody in his
• 0:24
Speaker 1: Draft week? This is the Season with Peter Schrager. This
• 0:27
Speaker 1: is what we've been building towards. You've been listening to
• 0:29
Speaker 1: this podcast for several weeks and it's been just more
• 0:33
Speaker 1: draft content, more draft content, more draft content. We're finally
• 0:36
Speaker 1: here and I want to give you more draft content.
• 0:38
Speaker 1: We got great response from last week's two episodes. One
• 0:41
Speaker 1: with Jim Naggy, the director of the Senior Bowl, who
• 0:44
Speaker 1: knows a lot of these players inside and out from
• 0:46
Speaker 1: his experience with them. And then I did a mock
• 0:49
Speaker 1: draft with Daniel Jeremiah moved the six from NFL Network
• 0:53
Speaker 1: and that went really well as far as listeners go.
• 0:56
Speaker 1: So there's one more person I needed before we get
• 0:59
Speaker 1: to the draft to do a mock draft with me.
• 1:01
Speaker 1: It's a guy that I've been doing draft coverage with
• 1:03
Speaker 1: since twenty thirteen when Fox Bourn one first was launched.
• 1:07
Speaker 1: He's one of my favorite people in the world, a
• 1:09
Speaker 1: true friend. He's also the lead college football analyst for
• 1:14
Speaker 1: Fox Sports. You hear him on all of the Michigan
• 1:16
Speaker 1: Ohio State games. You hear them at the Big Ten
• 1:19
Speaker 1: Championship game every year, and I think he is as
• 1:22
Speaker 1: hard working and plugged in when it comes to college
• 1:25
Speaker 1: football as any one of the analysts you see on television.
• 1:29
Speaker 1: His name is Joel Klatt. I'm gonna bring Joel in
• 1:31
Speaker 1: in one second. I just wanted to really quickly give
• 1:33
Speaker 1: you guys the layout of the programming schedule for the Draft.
• 1:37
Speaker 1: So for me personally, I'll be on Good Morning Football
• 1:40
Speaker 1: Monday and Tuesday. I will be off Good Morning Football
• 1:43
Speaker 1: Wednesday as I fly to Kansas City, and then Thursday morning.
• 1:46
Speaker 1: Good Morning Football is not only on NFL network, it
• 1:49
Speaker 1: is on ESPN two as well, which is cool for us.
• 1:52
Speaker 1: We do a simulcaska as we're kind of crossing over
• 1:54
Speaker 1: content with them Friday morning Good Morning Football. Then Friday
• 1:59
Speaker 1: night I will be on the Draft Dais if you will.
• 2:03
Speaker 1: Joel will be on the main stage. I'll be on
• 2:05
Speaker 1: the secondary stage with Ian Rappaport, and hopefully we're gonna
• 2:08
Speaker 1: get a lot of airtime as the Aaron Rodgers trade
• 2:11
Speaker 1: might go down on Day two. But of course, you
• 2:13
Speaker 1: guys know, if you're listening, these NFL teams a lot
• 2:16
Speaker 1: of their rosters are built on Day two of the draft.
• 2:18
Speaker 1: Then Day three is my favorite day of the calendar
• 2:20
Speaker 1: year for the NFL Draft. I will be on the
• 2:23
Speaker 1: main stage with Daniel Jeremiah, Charles Davis, and Rich Eisen
• 2:27
Speaker 1: and that'll be all day, sweltering in the sun in
• 2:30
Speaker 1: Kansas City, just sweating through a suit. And of course
• 2:32
Speaker 1: there's draft content all over the internet on Twitter and
• 2:35
Speaker 1: all that. But I mentioned Joel's going to be joining us,
• 2:38
Speaker 1: and just got to say, when it comes to Saturday
• 2:42
Speaker 1: in those noon games, I am so proud of the
• 2:44
Speaker 1: work that my brothers at Fox Sports and sisters have
• 2:47
Speaker 1: put together to make that a marquee situation where you
• 2:50
Speaker 1: know you're getting a huge game, whether it's the Big
• 2:52
Speaker 1: ten or it's the Big twelve, and you know that
• 2:55
Speaker 1: it's going to be an A Plus broadcast. And one
• 2:57
Speaker 1: of the reasons is this guy. He's longtime friend. He's
• 3:00
Speaker 1: played quarterback at Colorado and he has bounced around from
• 3:02
Speaker 1: being a studio host to doing stuff on the sidelines,
• 3:05
Speaker 1: to do a game analysts as a secondary team, and
• 3:09
Speaker 1: then finally got the call up a few years ago
• 3:12
Speaker 1: and has never looked back. He is now the lead
• 3:14
Speaker 1: college football analyst for Fox Sports, and I couldn't be
• 3:17
Speaker 1: happy to have him on the podcast. Joe Klatt, Welcome
• 3:20
Speaker 1: to the season with Peter scheger Man.
• 3:22
Speaker 2: I love this. This is so good. Thank you for
• 3:24
Speaker 2: that introduction. You are a dear friend and unbelievable at
• 3:29
Speaker 2: your job. So I can't wait to do this today
• 3:33
Speaker 2: just to get a little draft content. And you know
• 3:35
Speaker 2: I've said this before, but the draft is it's really
• 3:38
Speaker 2: slow moving for a long time, and then right here
• 3:41
Speaker 2: at the end, like the bell lap of the draft process,
• 3:44
Speaker 2: the information starts flying around. You start hearing all sorts
• 3:47
Speaker 2: of new things. And so this week is one of
• 3:50
Speaker 2: my favorite weeks of the year. Obviously, I love the fall,
• 3:52
Speaker 2: you love the fall, we all love that, right, But
• 3:54
Speaker 2: when it comes to the offseason, it's really hard to
• 3:57
Speaker 2: beat this week and draft on Thursday night. I can't
• 4:00
Speaker 2: wait to get out to Kansas City and see you.
• 4:01
  Speaker 3: Brother.
• 4:02
Speaker 1: Yeah, so you're gonna be doing stuff for the NFL Network,
• 4:04
Speaker 1: and I know you put the work in. I think
• 4:06
Speaker 1: you come from it from a very different lens than
• 4:07
Speaker 1: any of the folks on our NFL network, and certainly
• 4:11
Speaker 1: from me. You called these guys games in colleges. And
• 4:14
Speaker 1: before we get to the mock draft, I asked you
• 4:16
Speaker 1: if you could just spend three minutes just empty the
• 4:20
Speaker 1: bag on CJ. Stroud. You called eight different CJ. Stroud games,
• 4:24
Speaker 1: which means you've played all these games out on film.
• 4:28
Speaker 1: You've called them all on film, his biggest moments. You're
• 4:31
Speaker 1: on the call for most of them. And you've also
• 4:34
Speaker 1: gotten to know CJ. Stroud and you've also gotten to
• 4:36
Speaker 1: speak with his coaches about c J. Stroud. His stock
• 4:39
Speaker 1: isn't slipping, it's not plummeting as we record this on
• 4:42
Speaker 1: a Monday, but it is up in the air. He
• 4:44
Speaker 1: can gowhere from two to bottom of the top ten.
• 4:48
Speaker 1: And a few weeks ago it felt like it was
• 4:50
Speaker 1: a sure thing he would either go first or second.
• 4:53
Speaker 1: I say the name c J. Stroud, Joel Klatt, empty
• 4:56
Speaker 1: the notebook. What do you got?
• 4:57
Speaker 2: Okay, lots of different angles on this, so I'll try
• 4:59
Speaker 2: to go quickly. Let me first take the angle of
• 5:02
Speaker 2: the opposing defensive coordinators in those eight games and what
• 5:06
Speaker 2: they were saying. And you have to keep in mind
• 5:08
Speaker 2: I did his very first game, his very first start
• 5:11
Speaker 2: as a college quarterback against Minnesota on the road, It
• 5:13
Speaker 2: was a Thursday night, the opener in twenty twenty one,
• 5:16
Speaker 2: and I did his next to last start, a loss
• 5:19
Speaker 2: to Michigan in his home stadium. I also saw him
• 5:22
Speaker 2: in his third practice in spring as the starter that
• 5:24
Speaker 2: spring before. Right, Like, I've been around this kid since
• 5:27
Speaker 2: he was a red shirt and now all the way through.
• 5:30
Speaker 2: Let me start with what the defensive coordinators have been
• 5:32
Speaker 2: saying ever since his first start, and they all say
• 5:36
Speaker 2: to him, man, elite arm will kill you. Kill you
• 5:41
Speaker 2: if he has any sniff of what coverage you're in,
• 5:43
Speaker 2: or Ryan Day has a sniff of what coverage.
• 5:45
  Speaker 3: You're in, You're dead. You're dead.
• 5:47
Speaker 2: Because he plays on schedule and on time, and he's
• 5:51
Speaker 2: accurate with the football and he's obviously throwing to what
• 5:53
Speaker 2: has now become the best core of wide receivers in
• 5:56
Speaker 2: football over the last couple of years. Think of the
• 5:58
Speaker 2: core of wide receivers he had in twenty twenty one
• 6:00
Speaker 2: with Chris o'lave and Garrett Wilson the reigning rookie of
• 6:03
Speaker 2: the Year, and Jackson Smith and Jigbow who they all
• 6:05
Speaker 2: say was better than all of them and now available
• 6:08
Speaker 2: in this draft. This this is an elite passing game
• 6:11
Speaker 2: in part due to what CJ. Stroud brings to the table.
• 6:15
Speaker 2: They also all say that, and now let's go to
• 6:18
Speaker 2: his coaching staff, they would all say he's very prepared,
• 6:23
Speaker 2: very intelligent, learns the system incredibly fast, and has a
• 6:27
Speaker 2: lot of control at the line of scrimmage. So maybe
• 6:30
Speaker 2: a departure from what you're hearing from, you know, the
• 6:33
Speaker 2: smoke that is being floated out here late in the
• 6:35
Speaker 2: draft process about the S two score and his cognitive
• 6:39
Speaker 2: ability and reaction time and everything that was never a
• 6:42
Speaker 2: problem and never brought up. I've talked to to coaches
• 6:47
Speaker 2: in college football at the time and they will tell me, hey,
• 6:50
Speaker 2: like it, just it doesn't click right away. He has
• 6:54
Speaker 2: to see it first. It has to be, you know,
• 6:57
Speaker 2: black and white. He can't play in the gray area.
• 6:59
Speaker 2: That was never brought up with CJ. Stroud, which is
• 7:01
Speaker 2: why all of this smoke is quite interesting. From my standpoint,
• 7:07
Speaker 2: Ryan Day has been higher on Stroud than he has
• 7:09
Speaker 2: up to this point than he was even with Dwayne Haskins,
• 7:12
Speaker 2: a first round quarterback, or even Justin Field's a first
• 7:15
Speaker 2: round quarterback, and talking about how he's more prepared for
• 7:17
Speaker 2: this moment than even those guys. All this to say,
• 7:22
Speaker 2: I don't know where this is coming from. And if
• 7:25
Speaker 2: Stroud slides, someone's going to get a hell of a player.
• 7:28
Speaker 2: He's overcome a lot of adversity in his life, did
• 7:32
Speaker 2: not have his dad around for a very specific reason
• 7:36
Speaker 2: during the course of his upbringing, and overcame that. And
• 7:39
Speaker 2: this guy is a solid man and a solid leader
• 7:41
Speaker 2: in the locker room. If it sounds like I'm being
• 7:44
Speaker 2: overly au my praise, it's because I believe in the kid.
• 7:48
Speaker 2: I've been around him, I've been around his coaching staff,
• 7:52
Speaker 2: and I've seen him play at an elite level. Just
• 7:55
Speaker 2: ask Georgia the best defense in college football over the
• 7:57
Speaker 2: last two years how good CJ.
• 7:59
  Speaker 3: Stroud is.
• 7:59
Speaker 2: Because he almost drug an injured and depleted Buckeye team
• 8:04
Speaker 2: past that Georgia team and probably would have won that
• 8:06
Speaker 2: national championship if they were able to finish off that
• 8:08
  Speaker 2: game arm strength.
• 8:10
Speaker 1: When you compare it to a Will Levis or an
• 8:12
Speaker 1: Anthony Richardson, if he has to throw the deep ball
• 8:15
Speaker 1: and it's cold weather and it's windy, can he get
• 8:17
  Speaker 1: it done.
• 8:17
Speaker 2: Absolutely? Yeah, there's no doubt in my mind. In fact,
• 8:20
Speaker 2: one of the things that he did best was play
• 8:23
Speaker 2: action pass and when they would get that rhythm going
• 8:26
Speaker 2: for Ohio State, his ability to attack down the field.
• 8:30
  Speaker 2: Was remarkable. It's it's a It's maybe not as as
• 8:38
Speaker 2: prominent as a Will Levis just as far as pure
• 8:41
Speaker 2: arm strength, but it's way smarter. And let me tell
• 8:45
Speaker 2: you what I'm saying, Like Levis can can can play
• 8:49
Speaker 2: a little bit like a relief pitcher with one pitch,
• 8:52
Speaker 2: like it's a fastball man and it's coming and here
• 8:54
Speaker 2: we go, and he's got that pitch, but he doesn't
• 8:58
Speaker 2: play the game like a starting pitcher who needs four
• 9:01
Speaker 2: pitches and needs to change speed and change location. CJ
• 9:07
Speaker 2: can change speed and change location and throw the deep ball.
• 9:10
Speaker 2: So he's got a much better command over trajectory, throw style, velocity,
• 9:20
Speaker 2: all of those things than maybe a guy like Levis does,
• 9:22
Speaker 2: who has a better pure arm as far as strength goes.
• 9:27
Speaker 1: Great stuff. I appreciate you doing that. I'll add our
• 9:31
Speaker 1: colleague at Fox, Brady Quinn, had a quote from a
• 9:34
Speaker 1: podcast that he was on with CBS that went viral
• 9:37
Speaker 1: and then there's more context to it, and I'm not
• 9:39
Speaker 1: questioning you know what Brady said because he said it,
• 9:42
Speaker 1: and there was a lot more that goes with it,
• 9:44
Speaker 1: and Brady's been very positive about CJ. Stroud. We'll say this,
• 9:48
Speaker 1: I have spoken around the league on the Manning thing
• 9:50
Speaker 1: at the Manning Passing Academy, which the story was that
• 9:54
Speaker 1: he didn't appear. He did give a heads up. He
• 9:57
Speaker 1: stayed up there with Ohio State and his teammates there.
• 10:00
Speaker 1: The Manning Passing Academy continued on and was okay without
• 10:04
Speaker 1: c J. Stroud being there. There's no ill feelings from
• 10:07
Speaker 1: the Manning family from what I gather, and it certainly
• 10:11
Speaker 1: is not going to impact his draft stock in some
• 10:13
Speaker 1: great way. That said, the noise, it adds to the
• 10:17
Speaker 1: S two cognition test, it adds to you know whatever
• 10:20
Speaker 1: else negatives And this is just a shame of the
• 10:22
Speaker 1: draft season. Some of these guys are going to have
• 10:25
Speaker 1: stories out there and for whatever reason, it's going to
• 10:27
Speaker 1: come out at the worst time, an immediate thing. But
• 10:29
Speaker 1: it's all washed away and fine when they get selected
• 10:33
Speaker 1: at the NFL Draft's going to be the greatest moment
• 10:35
Speaker 1: of his life. And I'm happy for him and I
• 10:37
Speaker 1: don't think he's going to fall out of the top
• 10:38
Speaker 1: ten by any means.
• 10:39
Speaker 2: Yeah, we'll see, we'll see how it goes, because I
• 10:41
Speaker 2: think it's going to be as interesting a top five
• 10:44
Speaker 2: as we've had in a long time, because we've got
• 10:46
Speaker 2: quarterback drama and there's a lot of question about what
• 10:49
Speaker 2: can happen. I think there could be some trades. I
• 10:52
Speaker 2: think it could be wild. After that first pick, I
• 10:55
Speaker 2: think we all think, you know, we all agree Caroline
• 10:57
Speaker 2: is going to take Bryce Young and then it's like,
• 10:59
Speaker 2: let's all hold our breath.
• 11:01
Speaker 3: What's Houston going to do?
• 11:04
Speaker 1: I'm going to do this mock draft with you this way.
• 11:07
Speaker 1: So we had Daniel Jeremiah on. He was on the thing.
• 11:10
Speaker 1: So we flipped a coin. Aaron, do we have our coin?
• 11:12
Speaker 3: Oh? Do I have a coin?
• 11:14
  Speaker 1: Aaron's got a coin?
• 11:15
Speaker 3: Oh, Aaron Scott, Okay.
• 11:16
Speaker 4: I got a coin through the magic of the Internet.
• 11:19
Speaker 1: Is there like an internet coin toss apps? Oh?
• 11:21
Speaker 4: Of course, of course you do cont yeah kids these days,
• 11:26
Speaker 4: so a coin? It is an ai coin? Yeah, Joel,
• 11:29
Speaker 4: you are the visiting team. See, do you want to
• 11:31
Speaker 4: pick heads or tails?
• 11:32
Speaker 3: Tails? Always? You never pick heads?
• 11:35
  Speaker 5: All right?
• 11:35
  Speaker 4: And heads?
• 11:37
Speaker 1: So, Peter, I get to kick off or defer, I
• 11:42
Speaker 1: will kick off. I will put you in the hot
• 11:43
Speaker 1: seat with those two and four picks, I'm gonna go
• 11:46
Speaker 1: number one Carolina Panthers, and I will take Bryce Young
• 11:51
Speaker 1: first overall, which leads to number two the Houston Texans. Joel,
• 11:55
Speaker 1: this is a combination of what you would do, what
• 11:59
Speaker 1: you think would happen. It doesn't. It's just an exercise.
• 12:01
Speaker 1: It's not you predicting what you think is gonna happen.
• 12:03
Speaker 1: We're gonna grade you against forty other mock draft experts
• 12:06
Speaker 1: and get you a grade. It's just the Texans are
• 12:09
Speaker 1: on the clock. What do you think happens or what
• 12:12
Speaker 1: do you think should happen?
• 12:13
Speaker 2: Okay, So I think that what's going to happen and
• 12:16
Speaker 2: what should happen are the same thing. I believe that
• 12:19
Speaker 2: at the end of the day, we're going to sit
• 12:20
Speaker 2: back and be like this was all smoke, and you know,
• 12:25
Speaker 2: let's let's give Houston some props for, you know, creating
• 12:31
Speaker 2: some value in the selection, creating some interest, and letting
• 12:36
Speaker 2: people know that maybe you know, it's not a done deal.
• 12:39
Speaker 3: I think that they take CJ. Stroud.
• 12:41
Speaker 2: I think it would be crazy if they didn't. They're
• 12:43
Speaker 2: desperate for a quarterback. He's clearly to me, the second
• 12:47
Speaker 2: best quarterback in this draft. Unless they're trying to wait
• 12:49
Speaker 2: for next year's class and think that they're also going
• 12:52
Speaker 2: to have one of the top two picks, then they've
• 12:54
Speaker 2: got to take CJ.
• 12:55
  Speaker 3: Stroud.
• 12:56
Speaker 1: I love it on to number three, the Arizona Cardinals. Now,
• 13:00
Speaker 1: when I did this with Dana Jeremiah, we said no
• 13:02
Speaker 1: trades for the sake of it. But I will let
• 13:04
Speaker 1: it be known Arizona's trying to trade this. I don't
• 13:06
Speaker 1: think if you're gonna trade it for fifty cents on
• 13:08
Speaker 1: the dollar, but I think they might trade it for
• 13:10
Speaker 1: eighty cents on the dollar. They need, they need, they
• 13:12
Speaker 1: need people, they need bodies, they need prospects. So I
• 13:16
Speaker 1: would look and I would call at this point, if
• 13:18
Speaker 1: I'm Monty asin for it, I would call one of
• 13:20
Speaker 1: my former teams at Tennessee Titans, and I'd say, please,
• 13:23
Speaker 1: if you need a quarterback, we're at three, you're at eleven.
• 13:26
Speaker 1: We're at a conference, Genessee, Jense, come on up, Come
• 13:30
Speaker 1: on up, Tennessee. Ran Carthon is the new GM there.
• 13:35
Speaker 1: He was with the Niners. They trained up to get
• 13:37
Speaker 1: Trey lanceson number three a few years ago. Anyway, let's
• 13:40
Speaker 1: say at three Cardinals on the clock. Let's get a
• 13:44
Speaker 1: franchise pillar, a cornerstone. We are gonna draft Will Anderson third. Overall,
• 13:50
Speaker 1: Alabama can't go wrong someone. This sounds really really, I
• 13:55
Speaker 1: would say, almost as an insult, like a backhanded compliment.
• 13:58
Speaker 1: Someone said, yeah, Tyree Wilson might be a complete strikeout
• 14:01
Speaker 1: or a home run. Will Anderson is a solid double
• 14:04
Speaker 1: or a triple. So I'm gonna say with if the
• 14:06
Speaker 1: Arizona Cardinals that they keep it, let's go Will Anderson three.
• 14:09
Speaker 1: And now, Joel, this is the money pick for the draft,
• 14:12
Speaker 1: the one that I have so much intriguing. I said
• 14:14
Speaker 1: today and Good Morning Football. I think it's the most
• 14:16
Speaker 1: interesting selection of the entire draft. The Indianapolis Colts at four.
• 14:20
Speaker 1: And when we have it, Bryce Young and c. J.
• 14:21
Speaker 1: Stroud are off the board. Who do you go with?
• 14:24
Speaker 2: Okay, so I've heard the talk about that they like
• 14:27
Speaker 2: with Levis and Butt. I think that the better player
• 14:31
Speaker 2: and the better upside and the better fit for the
• 14:33
Speaker 2: Colts is going to be Anthony Richardson. And the reason
• 14:36
Speaker 2: that I'm going to take Anthony Richardson is that you're
• 14:39
Speaker 2: going to help Jonathan Taylor be more dominant for longer
• 14:43
Speaker 2: in his career because as soon as Richardson can get
• 14:47
Speaker 2: on the field, he's holding edges and creating within the
• 14:49
Speaker 2: defense for the run game because of his athleticism. And
• 14:52
Speaker 2: you give Richardson what he needs, which is a dominant
• 14:55
Speaker 2: run game and the ability to throw play action pass
• 14:57
Speaker 2: and utilize that strong arm. So it it's a good fit.
• 15:02
Speaker 2: And I think that he is a better player than
• 15:04
Speaker 2: Will Levis. So I'm going to go with Anthony richards
• 15:06
  Speaker 2: here at four.
• 15:07
Speaker 1: All Right, I don't know if I'm breaking news here
• 15:08
Speaker 1: because at the last twenty four to fourty eight hours,
• 15:12
Speaker 1: I've heard a lot of Richardson too, the Colts talk too. Again,
• 15:15
Speaker 1: I've heard a lot of Levis to the Colts talk.
• 15:16
Speaker 1: I've heard love It to the Colts talks. It's the
• 15:19
Speaker 1: start of this whole draft thing started. But there are
• 15:21
Speaker 1: people in that building. I know for a fact that,
• 15:24
Speaker 1: like Richardson, whether it's people making the decision or not,
• 15:27
Speaker 1: is what needs to be seen. So that's not crazy.
• 15:30
Speaker 1: Anthony Richardson at four, which would mean to recap for
• 15:33
Speaker 1: the listeners, as you're following along, and I watch you
• 15:35
Speaker 1: guys to all follow along. Bryce Young to Carolina Texan
• 15:38
Speaker 1: selects c J. Stroud A too, Will Anderson to the
• 15:42
Speaker 1: Cardinals at three, Anthony Richardson to the Colts at four,
• 15:46
Speaker 1: which leaves the Seahawks and they have a choice of
• 15:49
Speaker 1: quarterback Will Levis sitting right there, or Hendon Hooker or
• 15:53
Speaker 1: two really talented defensive players am Tyree Wilson and Jalen Carter.
• 15:58
Speaker 1: If I am the Seahawks. Here I put the card
• 16:01
Speaker 1: in and it is Tyree Wilson out of Texas Tech,
• 16:05
Speaker 1: the outside edge rusher as opposed to the inside guy,
• 16:09
Speaker 1: Tyrie Wilson, clean off the field, no red flags there.
• 16:14
Speaker 1: They go at the cleaner prospect, Tyree Wilson. Fit over
• 16:17
Speaker 1: all to the Seahawks.
• 16:18
Speaker 2: Oh man, this is I thought you were going to
• 16:21
Speaker 2: take Jalen Carter. So I'm thrown off here a little
• 16:23
Speaker 2: bit because exercise is that I didn't think Jalen was
• 16:25
Speaker 2: going to be available for the Lions, and so now
• 16:27
Speaker 2: with the Lions, I'm a little stuck.
• 16:29
Speaker 3: This is via the Rams.
• 16:30
Speaker 2: Of course, they got the backstop later in the first
• 16:32
Speaker 2: round with the eighteenth pick. They've got four picks in
• 16:35
Speaker 2: the top fifty five. They need help on defense. I'm
• 16:38
Speaker 2: going to stick with what I had, and I'm going
• 16:40
Speaker 2: to leave Jalen on the board and take Christian Gonzales
• 16:44
Speaker 2: the corner from four again. Here's the thing is like
• 16:47
Speaker 2: without a Kuda, they need length on the outside, and
• 16:50
Speaker 2: so I'm gonna take Christian Gonzales. And the reason is
• 16:53
  Speaker 2: I have a couple of tackles that I like a
• 16:56
Speaker 2: lot that I could backstop this with at eighteen and
• 17:00
Speaker 2: or in the second round. I've got tackles that I
• 17:03
Speaker 2: like in both of those spots. So that's why I'm
• 17:05
Speaker 2: going to take Christian Gonzalez. I think there's a little
• 17:06
Speaker 2: gap between him and the other corners. Got to help
• 17:08
  Speaker 2: my past defense.
• 17:10
Speaker 1: Wow, Raiders at seven, I can't have Jalen Carter in
• 17:14
  Speaker 1: Las Vegas? Can I can't. I can't. I don't know them.
• 17:19
Speaker 1: I mean this sounds like I'm being some like, you know,
• 17:21
Speaker 1: complete Neanderthal talking. Just put it. I just I just
• 17:24
Speaker 1: know Vegas. If there is any temptation to get into trouble,
• 17:26
Speaker 1: Vegas is the place, and I'm not going there. I
• 17:29
Speaker 1: will go with the hard hitting, one hundred and eighty
• 17:33
Speaker 1: pound new to football relatively speaking, big ten corner. We
• 17:38
Speaker 1: have two corners off in the first seven. I'm going
• 17:39
Speaker 1: Devin Weatherspoon seven to the Raiders. We have two corners
• 17:43
Speaker 1: off the board six and seven. Let's quickly recap Panthers
• 17:47
Speaker 1: one Bryce Young Texans two C. J. Stroud Cardinals three
• 17:51
Speaker 1: Will Anderson Colt four, Anthony Richardson Seahawks, five, Tyree Wilson
• 17:58
Speaker 1: Lion six Christian Gonzales out of Oregon, Raiders seven, Devin
• 18:03
Speaker 1: Wetherspoon out of Illinois. Jalen Carter Will Levis still on
• 18:07
Speaker 1: the board. Falcons are on the clock.
• 18:09
  Speaker 3: Okay, so.
• 18:12
Speaker 2: They will know Jalen Carter as well as anybody. I
• 18:16
Speaker 2: think they take him. I mean he's right down the street,
• 18:19
Speaker 2: right so I think I'm going to go Jalen right there.
• 18:22
Speaker 1: So ask you philosophically speaking, because this is what the
• 18:25
Speaker 1: beauty of this mock draft is. We can poke a
• 18:27
Speaker 1: couple questions here and there and it's going to be
• 18:29
Speaker 1: rapid fire. Yes, he's right Athens is in his backyard.
• 18:35
Speaker 1: He got in trouble in Athens. That is that wise?
• 18:38
Speaker 1: Do you say or do you or do you say?
• 18:42
Speaker 1: He's the best player on the board and just wait
• 18:44
Speaker 1: till we get him in our building. It's not going
• 18:46
Speaker 1: to be an issue.
• 18:47
Speaker 2: How do you if you have ways both ways, right,
• 18:50
  Speaker 2: I think like if you're if you're convinced, if you're
• 18:53
Speaker 2: trying to convince yourself, you say that the setting is
• 18:56
Speaker 2: not a minus but a plus. If you're trying to
• 18:59
Speaker 2: say like, well we can't do that, then you say like, well,
• 19:01
Speaker 2: he can't be in this environment. It would have been
• 19:03
Speaker 2: better in Seattle as far away from from here as
• 19:06
Speaker 2: you can possibly get to remove him, you know, from
• 19:08
Speaker 2: this environment. But the other part of this is when
• 19:12
Speaker 2: when I'm selecting here my board, the only other player
• 19:17
Speaker 2: that's remotely in the hemisphere of Jalen Carter is Vijon Robinson,
• 19:22
Speaker 2: and so like, I think they take the tackle here.
• 19:25
Speaker 2: I don't think Atlanta is going to go running back.
• 19:27
Speaker 2: So I'm gonna go with Jalen Carter more on value
• 19:30
  Speaker 2: than anything.
• 19:31
Speaker 1: All right. Number nine the Bears, I was planning on
• 19:35
Speaker 1: taking Weatherspoon or Gonzales. They're both gone. I would think
• 19:39
Speaker 1: they have to, huh. I think they like their offensive line.
• 19:41
Speaker 1: I was thinking you could go Paris Johnson here. Scar
• 19:47
Speaker 1: is nine too early for a guard because that's what
• 19:49
Speaker 1: I think Scarnsky probably ends up playing.
• 19:52
Speaker 2: But he's a little speaking of down the road, right,
• 19:53
Speaker 2: I mean he's right there as well.
• 19:55
Speaker 1: I know he's in the backyard. And then Vjon Robinson
• 19:58
Speaker 1: is floating there. If you want to just have a
• 20:00
Speaker 1: dynamic playmaker with fields, you know what, give me Peter
• 20:05
Speaker 1: Scarnsky out of the Northwestern Just give me a mauling.
• 20:09
Speaker 1: I'm not like doing flips or anything.
• 20:11
Speaker 3: I'm all you know what that is? Now, that's like
• 20:14
Speaker 3: an Eagles esque pick.
• 20:16
Speaker 2: Yeah, right, like kind of disciplined, stay in the trenches.
• 20:21
Speaker 2: But now the Eagles are up, they've got the best
• 20:23
Speaker 2: roster in football, at least that's my opinion. I don't
• 20:27
Speaker 2: know if you agree with that. And they've gotten there
• 20:30
Speaker 2: with those discipline picks, Like I was talking about the trenches,
• 20:33
Speaker 2: but now you've got the chance to give Jalen Hurts,
• 20:37
Speaker 2: the best offensive player in the draft, the biggest threat
• 20:39
Speaker 2: in the draft. Bijon to the Eagles. I've got it
• 20:42
Speaker 2: in my mock. You've got it in your mock. I'm
• 20:44
Speaker 2: taking it in this mock as well. Bjon Robinson to
• 20:47
  Speaker 2: the Eagles.
• 20:48
Speaker 1: All right, that's that's awesome. Eleven the Titans. Will Levis
• 21:01
Speaker 1: is looking at me right in the eyes, just staring
• 21:03
Speaker 1: at you he's staring at me, but so is the hooker.
• 21:08
  Speaker 1: And he's a local talent. And I get a year
• 21:10
Speaker 1: with Tannehill and we can kind of grow. Or do
• 21:14
Speaker 1: I go wide receiver and say just defensive Paris Johnson
• 21:19
Speaker 1: out of Ohio State. The Tennessee Titans take their future
• 21:23
Speaker 1: offensive tackle and they get him there, and they pass
• 21:26
Speaker 1: on both quarterbacks Texans on the board.
• 21:31
Speaker 2: I means, okay, so they already got their quarterback because
• 21:33
Speaker 2: I've got them CJ. And I'm going to give them,
• 21:36
Speaker 2: like CJ's college teammate, the best wide receiver in the draft.
• 21:39
Speaker 2: I'm taking Jackson Smith and Jigba wide receiver from Ohio State.
• 21:44
Speaker 2: This might be a fool's errand to chase these guys
• 21:47
Speaker 2: on the outside, regardless of who takes Jackson Smith and Jigba,
• 21:51
Speaker 2: I just want to plant the flag.
• 21:53
  Speaker 3: Peter.
• 21:53
Speaker 2: I think he's the best receiver in the draft. Okay,
• 21:55
Speaker 2: if you go back to twenty twenty one, I covered
• 21:58
Speaker 2: him extensively with Brian Hartline his position coach, Ryan Day,
• 22:02
Speaker 2: his offensive coordinators, last head coach with j Stroud, with
• 22:07
Speaker 2: Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson. To a man, they would
• 22:12
Speaker 2: have all said and did to me several times. Jackson
• 22:16
Speaker 2: Smith and Jigba is the best player on our offense.
• 22:19
Speaker 2: I think we forget that because he was out with
• 22:21
Speaker 2: that hamstring injury. This is a guy that I do
• 22:23
Speaker 2: believe can based on his position and the volume that
• 22:27
Speaker 2: he can produce, he will lead the league in receptions
• 22:30
Speaker 2: at some point in his career. I think in the
• 22:32
  Speaker 2: first five years.
• 22:33
Speaker 1: Bold bold, clip that off, Aaron clip it off. That's
• 22:37
Speaker 1: going viral. I love that. That is a bold take.
• 22:41
Speaker 1: That entire spiel on JSN when I've been told Joel
• 22:45
Speaker 1: this might make you sick. There are no blue chip
• 22:47
Speaker 1: wide receivers in this draft.
• 22:49
  Speaker 3: That's why.
• 22:50
Speaker 2: And he's not a pure outside guy, so I'm not
• 22:53
Speaker 2: I'm not going to push against that was Cooper cup
• 22:55
Speaker 2: of a blue chip wide receiver when he came out.
• 22:58
Speaker 3: No, no he's not. But what is he a production machine?
• 23:02
Speaker 1: I'm on rass Saint Brown, same thing, yes, the same.
• 23:05
Speaker 2: Thing, Like this guy can get you one hundred and
• 23:06
Speaker 2: twenty catches. He just so, I didn't say he's the
• 23:10
Speaker 2: best receiver, I know. I said I think he can
• 23:13
Speaker 2: lead the league in receptions. You know, pretty much in
• 23:16
Speaker 2: the vein of Cup and I'm on Ross Saint Brown.
• 23:18
Speaker 2: That's that's the style. The slot specialist really understands space,
• 23:23
Speaker 2: really quick, lateral quickness, smooth through the catch point.
• 23:27
Speaker 3: Really love his game.
• 23:28
Speaker 1: If the Texans were to come out of the top
• 23:30
Speaker 1: twelve picks and said they got C. J. Stroud and
• 23:33
Speaker 1: Jackson Smith Najigbo, would you say that's an a draft
• 23:37
Speaker 1: in the first round.
• 23:38
Speaker 3: I don't know, and I made the picks.
• 23:40
  Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know either, I think so, I don't know.
• 23:44
Speaker 1: They would be their starting quarterback and their number one
• 23:46
Speaker 1: wide receiver right out of the gates.
• 23:47
Speaker 2: Yeah, you know that, and I think it would be
• 23:49
Speaker 2: an a draft, but I think, you know, truth be told,
• 23:51
Speaker 2: it would it would take some time. Smith and Jigbo
• 23:54
Speaker 2: would reach his potential faster with a veteran and a
• 23:58
  Speaker 2: solid offense.
• 23:58
  Speaker 3: But we'll see.
• 24:00
Speaker 1: Jets at thirteen. They're going to go offensive line here.
• 24:04
Speaker 1: I'm going to go with Broderick Jones out of Joe
• 24:06
Speaker 1: the big tackle, safe ish pick. I think he's considered
• 24:11
Speaker 1: one of the top tackle prospects, and you're protecting whoever
• 24:14
Speaker 1: the asset is at quarterback, most likely Aaron Rodgers Patriots fourteen,
• 24:19
Speaker 1: who do you got.
• 24:20
  Speaker 3: Don't love.
• 24:21
Speaker 2: I don't love this part of the draft for these teams,
• 24:25
Speaker 2: you know, I feel like they have too many needs
• 24:27
Speaker 2: for the players available. I wanted to go offensive tackle
• 24:31
Speaker 2: as well. There for the Patriots, it's a couple there.
• 24:34
Speaker 2: I think I'll stay I'll stay offensive tackle. This is
• 24:38
Speaker 2: probably a little high for him, but I'm gonna go
• 24:40
Speaker 2: Darnell right the tackle from Tennessee.
• 24:42
Speaker 1: Okay, all right, Darnell write to the Patriots tackle out
• 24:46
Speaker 1: of Tennessee, which gives me the Packers. It's it's time
• 24:49
Speaker 1: for the Packers to do something they've never done when
• 24:51
Speaker 1: Aaron Rodgers was the quarterback. That's take a wide receiver
• 24:55
Speaker 1: tight end the first round. I'm actually gonna surprise you.
• 24:56
Speaker 1: I think I'm gonna go tight end, and please empty
• 24:59
Speaker 1: the bag on what you got from this guy. Dalton
• 25:01
Speaker 1: Kincaid at a Utah. I had never heard of him
• 25:04
Speaker 1: until I watched him in a college game and I
• 25:06
Speaker 1: was like, who's this. I think I texted you about him.
• 25:09
Speaker 1: You covered a bunch of his games, Dalton Kincaid, what's
• 25:12
Speaker 1: the story on him?
• 25:13
  Speaker 3: Okay?
• 25:14
Speaker 2: So, really good basketball player in his youth, and admittedly
• 25:18
Speaker 2: wanted to focus on basketball told recruiters that early in
• 25:21
Speaker 2: his high school days, which is why he was Peter.
• 25:25
Speaker 2: I would just call it like lightly recruited. So he's
• 25:27
Speaker 2: got to start his college career not at San Diego State,
• 25:30
Speaker 2: but San Diego of old you know Jim Harball.
• 25:33
  Speaker 5: Or from Waybreros.
• 25:35
  Speaker 3: Yeah, that's right.
• 25:36
Speaker 2: So then he transfers to Utah and eventually develops he's
• 25:41
Speaker 2: got that basketball on grass type of mentality where he
• 25:45
Speaker 2: can flex out and be a real weapon for your offense.
• 25:48
Speaker 2: Led the FBS in terms of tight end production with
• 25:51
Speaker 2: about eight hundred and ninety almost nine hundred yards, and
• 25:55
Speaker 2: he didn't really even become the focal point of their
• 25:57
Speaker 2: offense at Utah until Brent Keithy went down another player
• 26:01
Speaker 2: on their offense. But I will say Kincaid and Cam
• 26:04
Speaker 2: Rising had a an amazing rapport between the two of them.
• 26:09
Speaker 2: And this is a team that just went to back
• 26:11
Speaker 2: to back Rose Bowls, by the way, and you know,
• 26:14
Speaker 2: I'm a big fan of Kincaid. I could easily see
• 26:18
Speaker 2: him being the best tight end in this draft. He's
• 26:20
Speaker 2: not quite as versatile as a guy like Michael Maher
• 26:23
Speaker 2: the tight end at your game, but only because Mayor
• 26:27
Speaker 2: is an excellent blocker. Excellent blocker, Kincaid, probably a better
• 26:31
Speaker 2: receiver mayor probably better all around if you're looking for
• 26:35
Speaker 2: someone to also be kind of a sixth offensive lineman
• 26:37
Speaker 2: and flex out and give you something in space.
• 26:40
Speaker 1: Got it all right? I like that we're fifteen and
• 26:43
Speaker 1: sixteen is the Washington Commanders. What do you got, Joe?
• 26:46
  Speaker 3: Okay?
• 26:47
Speaker 2: So, buddy, I think this is a weird pick. Again again,
• 26:55
Speaker 2: I don't love them. I love the lad the first
• 26:58
Speaker 2: it's a weird draft, and so the middle from from
• 27:01
Speaker 2: from the Titans, really the Texans at twelve until we
• 27:05
Speaker 2: get to really like the Seahawks at twenty. You get
• 27:08
Speaker 2: a bunch of teams that need a lot of things
• 27:10
Speaker 2: and players in those areas that are kind of like, uh,
• 27:14
Speaker 2: are we gonna take him? I think there's gonna be
• 27:16
Speaker 2: a lot of waiting until the end of the clock
• 27:18
Speaker 2: trying to trade out. So it's gonna be a long night,
• 27:21
Speaker 2: in particular in the middle of the draft, and they're
• 27:23
Speaker 2: gonna be waiting, waiting, waiting, and then they'll just kind
• 27:25
Speaker 2: of run up and the like, well, he's kind of
• 27:27
Speaker 2: the best player at our position of need. That being said,
• 27:30
Speaker 2: I think Washington one pick before where he would probably
• 27:34
Speaker 2: want to go. Is gonna take Joey Porter Jick corner
• 27:38
  Speaker 2: from Penn State.
• 27:39
Speaker 1: Okay, take it. I think I read the stat he
• 27:44
Speaker 1: had one interception at Penn State, but he's only thrown
• 27:47
Speaker 1: at thirty times last year.
• 27:48
Speaker 3: So make what you do with that aggressive.
• 27:52
Speaker 1: I'm gonna stick at corner. You go sixteen, you go corner,
• 27:55
Speaker 1: I go seventeen at corner. That means four corners, which
• 27:58
Speaker 1: has become a premium position in the league. I'm gonna
• 28:01
Speaker 1: go corner for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Deontay Banks at.
• 28:04
Speaker 3: A Maryland man. Okay, wow, see this is you know
• 28:07
Speaker 3: what's happening right now, and it always happens.
• 28:09
Speaker 1: When you guys go quicker than you thought.
• 28:11
Speaker 2: Right, It's exactly right because it creates a run. And
• 28:14
Speaker 2: this is what happens in the draft, right, it creates
• 28:16
Speaker 2: a run on absolutely, So we've already had now a
• 28:19
Speaker 2: run on two different positions. Right, offensive line and corner
• 28:24
Speaker 2: have come off maybe faster than we anticipated if we
• 28:27
Speaker 2: were doing this on our own.
• 28:29
Speaker 1: I'm looking at it right now. Just for the listeners,
• 28:31
Speaker 1: We'll go from eleven on. So eleven was Paris Johnson
• 28:36
Speaker 1: which is a shock to everyone that they would go
• 28:38
Speaker 1: oh line instead of quarterback. I just don't know if
• 28:39
Speaker 1: Levis or Hooker is what they're looking to do. Texans
• 28:43
Speaker 1: twelve wide receiver Jackson Smith NIJIGBA Jets thirteen, Broderick Jones
• 28:48
Speaker 1: offensive tackle, fourteen Patriots Darnel Wright offensive tackle, Packers, Dalton
• 28:53
Speaker 1: Kincaid tight end, Commander's Joey Porter junior corner, Steelers at seventeen,
• 28:59
Speaker 1: Deontay Banks corner. Now we are up to the Lions
• 29:02
Speaker 1: at eighteen. Joel, you're on the.
• 29:03
Speaker 2: Clock, all right, little bit of a free pick here, right,
• 29:07
Speaker 2: because I think that they got I like what they
• 29:11
Speaker 2: got with Gonzales, and think about this, adding a really
• 29:15
Speaker 2: disruptive interior lineman. And now all of a sudden you've
• 29:19
Speaker 2: got Hutchinson, which you really like, I would, you know,
• 29:22
Speaker 2: excellent player, and then you pair him with a pass
• 29:25
Speaker 2: rushing tackle Elijah Kntsey from Pitt, Okay. The guy had
• 29:30
Speaker 2: huge production. By the way you look at his career.
• 29:34
Speaker 2: He played in thirty six games at Pitt, thirty seven
• 29:37
Speaker 2: tackles for loss. That's a tackle for loss per game,
• 29:40
Speaker 2: which is unheard of.
• 29:41
Speaker 1: Two and eighty pound defensive tackle. Are we a little
• 29:44
Speaker 1: worried about that? Are we okay with that?
• 29:46
Speaker 2: When you're producing like that? And he's the first unanimous
• 29:49
Speaker 2: All American at PITT since Aaron Donald, the guy that
• 29:52
Speaker 2: we all love. Maybe in the same type of mold
• 29:55
Speaker 2: quickness and power both. He's not three hundred pounds, but
• 29:59
Speaker 2: from the three tech position on the outside shade of
• 30:01
Speaker 2: the guard, he can produce a lot of numbers in
• 30:04
  Speaker 2: the backfield.
• 30:06
Speaker 1: All right, nineteen Will Levis is still on the board
• 30:09
Speaker 1: and the Buccaneers are there, But gosh, they've invested in
• 30:13
Speaker 1: Kyle Trask. They I'm really having a hard time here.
• 30:20
Speaker 1: Do they really want to take a quarterback and then
• 30:21
Speaker 1: put themselves in this bind where they got the fourth
• 30:24
Speaker 1: quarterback and they did it at nineteen? Where do they
• 30:27
Speaker 1: want to go? I mean, it's like, this is the
• 30:29
Speaker 1: questions you're asking. You're like, is it so good of
• 30:31
  Speaker 1: a value?
• 30:32
Speaker 2: I think this is the worst pick in the draft.
• 30:35
Speaker 2: I said that every time I did the mock for myself.
• 30:39
Speaker 2: I got the nineteen and I.
• 30:40
  Speaker 6: Was just like, I I don't know, yeah, and I
• 30:45
Speaker 6: don't think there's any Let me ask you this, Yeah,
• 30:49
Speaker 6: what do you think the Bucks need the most offensive line, and.
• 30:54
Speaker 2: They've already had a run of offensive linemen. This happened
• 30:56
Speaker 2: in my own mock right, like, I think you're reaching
• 30:58
Speaker 2: at offensive line if you take one right here, shregs,
• 31:02
Speaker 2: because you've already had the run on the top offensive lineman.
• 31:05
Speaker 1: I know, I know. And now, like the clock is
• 31:08
Speaker 1: like up right now. And oh and I'm literally on
• 31:12
Speaker 1: the internet like googling, like you know, a top offensive lineman,
• 31:16
Speaker 1: like this is an embarrassing.
• 31:17
Speaker 3: You're looking at something like Osiris Torrance at nineteen.
• 31:21
  Speaker 1: I can't do that. I'm actually I mean, is this
• 31:24
Speaker 1: what happens in the front offices? They start googling when
• 31:27
Speaker 1: they're on the clock.
• 31:29
  Speaker 3: Isn't this one?
• 31:29
Speaker 2: They just take the best player available. They just look
• 31:31
Speaker 2: at their board and they're just like take him.
• 31:34
Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, So let's just go through it.
• 31:38
  Speaker 4: Here.
• 31:39
Speaker 1: You got Michael Mayer, You've got Nolan Smith, who's kind
• 31:42
Speaker 1: of slipped here in our draft. You've got Will Levis,
• 31:49
Speaker 1: give me Michael Mayer. Tight end, tight end, I mean,
• 31:55
Speaker 1: they've really taking a tight tight end to the bucks.
• 31:57
Speaker 1: Did not see that happening before we started this, But
• 31:59
Speaker 1: tight end to the bucks. Michael Mayer at a Notre
• 32:01
Speaker 1: Dame goes nineteenth overall, did not see that.
• 32:05
Speaker 2: Dude, wouldn't Seattle so excited if this happened, because.
• 32:08
Speaker 1: Levis is sitting there if they want them or Hooker.
• 32:12
Speaker 2: And that's I did not see that happening. I thought
• 32:15
Speaker 2: that they were going to go edge here. But that's
• 32:18
Speaker 2: because I didn't give them edge at five. You gave
• 32:20
Speaker 2: them edge here. So to recap at five, Peter, you
• 32:24
Speaker 2: gave them Tyree Wilson. Correct, Yeah, okay, so Tyree's at five.
• 32:29
Speaker 2: I would have gone like a Nolan Smith or a
• 32:31
Speaker 2: Miles Murphy there, but they already got like they're not
• 32:34
Speaker 2: going to take two edge rushers. I think Seattle goes
• 32:37
Speaker 2: quarterback there, So which one? Now, it's what I would
• 32:43
Speaker 2: do versus what I think they'll do. I would take
• 32:46
  Speaker 2: hindon Hooker.
• 32:47
Speaker 1: Really, I'll make that argument because I think a lot
• 32:49
Speaker 1: of people are in the league are saying that more
• 32:50
Speaker 1: and more and Hooker over Levis is. Hooker's twenty six
• 32:54
Speaker 1: years old with a torn up ACL. It's tough to swallow.
• 32:58
Speaker 2: Hooker also just set the completion percentage record at Tennessee
• 33:02
Speaker 2: in a downfield passing offense. You know, this was not
• 33:05
Speaker 2: just a bunch of of flip screens and like so
• 33:09
Speaker 2: the offense that he ran at Tennessee is very similar
• 33:12
Speaker 2: to the Baylor offense under Art Briles back from the
• 33:15
Speaker 2: you know, the early teens and then two thousand, Yeah,
• 33:18
Speaker 2: the Bryce Petty days, the RG three days, and it's
• 33:21
Speaker 2: predicated on half field reads, which isn't great, but half
• 33:24
Speaker 2: field reads and then post snap wide receiver read routes,
• 33:28
Speaker 2: deep read routes. Okay, so they run kind of from
• 33:31
Speaker 2: a two receiver set, and Jalen Hyatt in this case,
• 33:34
Speaker 2: who had a phenomenal year Blittankough Award winner, he would
• 33:37
Speaker 2: read the coverage and he could take it vertical or
• 33:40
Speaker 2: hook it up and run it kind of a ten
• 33:41
Speaker 2: yard hook and hooker. His whole job was to not
• 33:46
Speaker 2: retreat in the pocket, wait and have patients and then
• 33:48
Speaker 2: be on the same page with the wide receiver and
• 33:50
Speaker 2: then from that what I would call the short area
• 33:54
Speaker 2: in the pocket. He had to have great accuracy down
• 33:57
Speaker 2: the field and anticipation in this post snap read route
• 34:01
Speaker 2: really hard to be efficient in and he threw for
• 34:03
Speaker 2: over seventy percent. So I think NFL of evaluators are
• 34:07
Speaker 2: going to look at this and be like, man, this
• 34:08
Speaker 2: guy is not intimidated to push the ball down the field.
• 34:11
Speaker 2: He threw it very accurately. He's very mature. He got
• 34:14
Speaker 2: better every single year, and he was the reason that
• 34:17
Speaker 2: this program in Tennessee was able to get over the
• 34:19
Speaker 2: hump and actually beat Alabama. So he was great in
• 34:22
Speaker 2: big games, in particular in that Alabama game. And when
• 34:25
Speaker 2: you measure that against Will Levis, and you look at
• 34:28
Speaker 2: the turnovers for Levis, you look at Levis's history being
• 34:32
Speaker 2: maybe not even a dominant high school player, losing a
• 34:34
Speaker 2: job to Sean Clifford, not really being dominated at Kentucky.
• 34:38
Speaker 2: Those turnovers, like I said, and some boneheaded mistakes on
• 34:43
Speaker 2: the field not off because Levis is a terrific person.
• 34:47
Speaker 2: I think they go hendon Hooker, So a long dissertation
• 34:49
Speaker 2: there to land on Hooker.
• 34:52
Speaker 1: Twenty one's the Chargers, and I think they'd be really
• 34:54
Speaker 1: happy with how this worked out. They don't need a quarterback,
• 34:57
Speaker 1: and I'm looking at three names. I'm looking at Lucas
• 35:01
Speaker 1: van Ness, who has now slipped all the way here.
• 35:03
Speaker 1: I'm looking at Nolan Smith, who has slipped all the
• 35:05
Speaker 1: way here. But I think they might give their guy,
• 35:09
Speaker 1: another pass catcher. I'm gonna go Jordan Addison out of
• 35:12
Speaker 1: USC to the LA Chargers. He stays close to home.
• 35:17
Speaker 1: And another pass catcher for Justin Herbert.
• 35:20
Speaker 2: I thought you were gonna go Quinton Johnston there, just
• 35:23
Speaker 2: to give him an outside target.
• 35:25
  Speaker 3: That's interesting.
• 35:26
Speaker 1: You are up with the Ravens at twenty two and
• 35:28
Speaker 1: we have a quarterback still on the board.
• 35:33
Speaker 3: Oh my gosh. If this happens, the ratings are going
• 35:36
Speaker 3: to be through the roof right on the board.
• 35:39
Speaker 1: But does levis I feel like there are more guys.
• 35:44
Speaker 2: There are guys that fit the Ravens, and they are
• 35:47
Speaker 2: such Ravens picks. Okay, I'm going Nolan Smith, edge player
• 35:52
Speaker 2: from Georgia, and everyone's going to be like, of course,
• 35:55
Speaker 2: Baltimore got Nolan Smith. Everyone loves Nolan Smith in this draft.
• 35:59
Speaker 2: He's productive anchor alpha of the best defense in college
• 36:03
Speaker 2: football over the last two years. And I think he's
• 36:05
Speaker 2: a good scheme fit for what Mike McDonald does at
• 36:08
Speaker 2: Baltimore because of what Georgia does and kind of an
• 36:11
Speaker 2: odd defense, and he can play the edge as a
• 36:13
  Speaker 2: stand up player.
• 36:14
Speaker 3: I'm going Nolan Smith.
• 36:17
Speaker 1: Which gives me the vikings. I don't think Will Levis
• 36:19
Speaker 1: is what the Vikings are doing. But we need to
• 36:22
Speaker 1: get Bill Levis off the board in the first round.
• 36:24
Speaker 2: I mean this is where if Levis is there, you
• 36:26
Speaker 2: would be thinking about like someone's trading.
• 36:28
Speaker 1: Someone's trading back up to Lucas van Ness is like
• 36:35
Speaker 1: a Iowa Minnesota, like on the carpet. Give me Will
• 36:42
Speaker 1: Levis here at twenty three. Wow, with an asterisk in
• 36:47
Speaker 1: that this pick will be swapped to somebody else.
• 36:49
  Speaker 3: Yeah, that's a good asterisk.
• 36:53
Speaker 1: We got him off the board.
• 36:55
Speaker 3: That was more about getting him off the board.
• 36:58
Speaker 1: I can't go a whole round without him being drafted.
• 37:00
Speaker 1: So there you go, Levis, Your night is over.
• 37:04
Speaker 3: All, Right, Jags, Let's see what we got available here?
• 37:08
Speaker 3: M what do we think that, what do we love?
• 37:10
Speaker 3: What do we think the Jags need? I'm looking here.
• 37:14
Speaker 1: Surprisingly, the Jaguars are pretty much well loaded at each position,
• 37:19
Speaker 1: and they're set up for the future, So you could
• 37:20
Speaker 1: really go best player available here.
• 37:22
Speaker 2: If if that's the case. In my mock, I had
• 37:27
Speaker 2: him taking Brian Branch, you know, but I'm not going
• 37:30
Speaker 2: to do that here. Okay, I do like Brian Branch,
• 37:34
Speaker 2: Though's really good. I'm going to stay there. I'll stay there.
• 37:39
Speaker 2: I'll go Brian Branch. He's one of the names that
• 37:41
  Speaker 2: I'm hearing. I'm sure you're hearing, like I think he's
• 37:43
Speaker 2: He's a first round guy. He can kind of play
• 37:47
Speaker 2: Nickel played the kind of that that hybrid safety position
• 37:52
Speaker 2: that Minka Fitzpatrick played at Alabama. Their smartest player, They've
• 37:58
Speaker 2: told me, by the way, like Brian's going to know
• 38:00
Speaker 2: the defense better than some of the veterans in camp.
• 38:03
Speaker 2: Like that's how smart he is. So I'll go Brian Branch.
• 38:06
Speaker 1: Okay, Giants, I'm here in this backyard. The Saquon thing
• 38:12
Speaker 1: is at a standstill. Jamir Gibbs is sitting right there.
• 38:15
Speaker 1: But I also know they want to get Can you
• 38:17
Speaker 1: imagine Daniel Jones another wide receiver. Let's have fun, Jamir Gibbs,
• 38:20
Speaker 1: Alabama goes to the Giants at twenty five, have your
• 38:24
Speaker 1: franchise tag and enjoy.
• 38:25
Speaker 3: It, buddy. Can you imagine.
• 38:28
Speaker 1: Yeah, that's how the NFL works. It's a brutal business,
• 38:30
  Speaker 1: it is.
• 38:32
Speaker 3: By the way, I love Gibbs. I love his game.
• 38:35
Speaker 3: He's not quite Saquon, but boy's versaally can catch it.
• 38:38
  Speaker 3: I like.
• 38:38
Speaker 5: I like that okay, all right, cowboys, Oh cowboys, did.
• 38:49
Speaker 3: You take vanes s?
• 38:51
Speaker 1: I did not. He's still on the board.
• 38:56
Speaker 2: Do you just go defense here and like load up
• 38:59
Speaker 2: and you've got like Micah rushing and Vaness rushing and
• 39:02
Speaker 2: then you just create, like, hey, how do you beat
• 39:04
  Speaker 2: Jalen Hurts?
• 39:05
Speaker 3: You just follow him up. That's a lot of sense.
• 39:08
Speaker 3: That's where Lucas van Ness from from Iowa.
• 39:12
Speaker 1: I had van Ness and the top ten pick when
• 39:14
Speaker 1: we started this whole thing, and I he said nothing
• 39:16
Speaker 1: wrong from now to that. But to go to twenty six,
• 39:19
Speaker 1: it's like just how the draft shuck out? Just what
• 39:21
Speaker 1: it is. Uh, Bill's give me Quintin Johnson. Give me
• 39:25
Speaker 1: a big outside receiver to go at digs and those guys.
• 39:28
Speaker 2: Quentin Johnson, he's a downfield like uh I would call
• 39:33
Speaker 2: him like a combat catch specialist.
• 39:36
Speaker 1: Who's a good comp in the NFL for him.
• 39:38
Speaker 3: I'm really bad at that trip.
• 39:40
Speaker 1: Yeah, So what's like, He's just he's sixteen.
• 39:42
Speaker 3: Lengthy, six to two, can jump. Not the cleanest route runner.
• 39:47
Speaker 1: And Mike Williams there is not that's all like not.
• 39:50
  Speaker 3: Quite that tall.
• 39:51
Speaker 2: He can make the easy catch look hard and then
• 39:54
Speaker 2: the hard catch look really easy hockey Nicks.
• 39:57
  Speaker 1: How about that?
• 39:57
  Speaker 2: Yeah, that's I'm not bad. I wouldn't complain about that.
• 40:02
Speaker 2: Johnston would be perfect for Josh Allen though. You talk
• 40:05
Speaker 2: about like give Josh one of those players that he
• 40:07
Speaker 2: can just be like, I'm gonna throw it up as
• 40:10
Speaker 2: as far as I can and this guy's gonna come
• 40:12
  Speaker 2: down with it.
• 40:13
Speaker 3: That would be Johnston. All right? Where am I now? Bengals?
• 40:18
Speaker 2: I mean, do we do we protect him or do
• 40:20
Speaker 2: we give him a threat? The age old question, right,
• 40:24
Speaker 2: protect him or do we give him a threat? I
• 40:29
Speaker 2: don't love the offensive lineman there, so it's it's probably
• 40:32
  Speaker 2: threat or defense.
• 40:35
Speaker 1: I love bit noise. We both made it.
• 40:37
  Speaker 3: Yeah, it's to.
• 40:40
Speaker 2: Me, it's either Zay or Darnell Washington. It's either Zay
• 40:45
Speaker 2: Flowers or Darnell Washington. And I don't think that they
• 40:49
Speaker 2: need a wide receiver. And Darnell can help in the
• 40:51
Speaker 2: run game because he can act as a sixth offensive
• 40:54
Speaker 2: lineman dominant blocker. I'll go Darnell Washington, the tight end
• 40:58
  Speaker 2: from Georgia.
• 40:59
Speaker 1: Okay, Okay, Darnell Washington over Sam Laporta out of Iowa.
• 41:06
Speaker 1: Do you know Laporta's game at all I do.
• 41:08
  Speaker 4: I know it.
• 41:09
Speaker 2: Well, he's Washington's a better blocker, so you can help
• 41:12
Speaker 2: a run game out with Washington as well as get
• 41:15
Speaker 2: some of the production Laporta. I like Laporta, but he's
• 41:19
Speaker 2: not as dominant at the point of attack. Is that
• 41:22
Speaker 2: a name that you're hearing as like the first rounder?
• 41:25
Speaker 1: Potentially the tight end group is like Kincaid and Mayer,
• 41:28
Speaker 1: and you can flip those and it's Washington, Laporta and
• 41:32
Speaker 1: Musgrave is getting a lot of lovely.
• 41:34
Speaker 2: Luke Muskrave from Oregon State, by the way, you know what,
• 41:38
Speaker 2: Luke Musgrave great skier as a kid, great skier in Oregon.
• 41:43
Speaker 3: You wouldn't think about that. But he went up to
• 41:45
Speaker 3: Mount Hood. He was on like a junior ski team.
• 41:47
Speaker 3: And then his uncle is is Bill.
• 41:50
Speaker 1: Yeah, great offensive coordinator for many years in the league. Okay,
• 42:02
Speaker 1: I love this mock draft so far. Let me recap
• 42:05
Speaker 1: real quick from twenty on.
• 42:08
Speaker 3: So Buck, this is a tandem is hard.
• 42:12
  Speaker 1: It's great, isn't it? Because it's like it doesn't fit
• 42:14
Speaker 1: your own puzzle. You have to adjust. Nineteen the Buccaneers
• 42:18
Speaker 1: in a bind where I literally was googling top one
• 42:21
Speaker 1: hundred players in draft because I didn't know what the
• 42:23
Speaker 1: hell to do. Michael Mayer tight end Notre Dame. That
• 42:27
Speaker 1: was nineteen twenty Seahawks Hendon Hooker, quarterback Tennessee.
• 42:31
Speaker 3: Oh that would explode the draft.
• 42:33
Speaker 1: Chargers twenty one. Jordan Addison wide receiver, USC Ravens twenty two.
• 42:39
Speaker 1: Nolan Smith goes with fellow Georgia Bulldog Rokwan Smith to
• 42:43
Speaker 1: the Ravens. Twenty two. Will Levis twenty three to the
• 42:47
Speaker 1: Vikings with a giant asterisk likely traded. Twenty four Jaguars
• 42:52
Speaker 1: Brian Branch, twenty five, Giants, Jamiir Gibs out of Alabama,
• 42:57
Speaker 1: twenty six Cowboys Lucas van Ness out of Iowa, twenty seven, Bills,
• 43:02
Speaker 1: Quinton Johnson twenty eight Darnell Washington Saints at twenty nine.
• 43:08
Speaker 1: I will go Say Flowers out of Boston College. Just
• 43:14
Speaker 1: a playmaker, and I feel like he has done really
• 43:18
Speaker 1: well in the pre draft process. I don't want to
• 43:20
Speaker 1: get the number wrong. I think he's one of eight siblings.
• 43:26
Speaker 1: It could be more than.
• 43:27
Speaker 3: That, and it is it is more. I've got it's
• 43:30
  Speaker 3: fourteen fourteen siblings.
• 43:33
  Speaker 1: I think he's the.
• 43:33
Speaker 2: Eleventh of eleventh, ten boys, four girls, his mom actually
• 43:39
Speaker 2: passed away in two thousand and five.
• 43:41
Speaker 3: Was he was raised primarily by his father.
• 43:43
Speaker 1: Wow, what a family story for him to make it
• 43:47
Speaker 1: to the NFL first round pick and gosh, the Saints
• 43:51
Speaker 1: obviously have talent all over the field, but they are
• 43:55
Speaker 1: always looking for another weapon. Derek Carr would be more
• 43:57
Speaker 1: than happy to get Save Flowers. We have two picks
• 44:00
Speaker 1: left in the first round and several guys who have
• 44:02
Speaker 1: been mocked to first rounds throughout everyone else's mock draft.
• 44:06
Speaker 1: But we're gonna go Eagles at thirty. Joe Klatt, you're
• 44:08
  Speaker 1: on the board.
• 44:09
Speaker 2: So this you would have to tell me? Would they
• 44:16
Speaker 2: go tackle defensive tackle?
• 44:19
Speaker 1: Defense? They got Jordan Davis last year. Jalen Carter would
• 44:22
Speaker 1: be one, but I don't know if they would go
• 44:24
Speaker 1: for like a third tier defensive tackle in the first
• 44:27
Speaker 1: round they get, you know.
• 44:29
  Speaker 3: What, I like a guy.
• 44:30
Speaker 2: You know I'm gonna go this is this is actually
• 44:32
Speaker 2: a good fit here because you could argue that, like, yeah,
• 44:35
Speaker 2: they could take edge right, a little pass rush, and
• 44:38
Speaker 2: my best available on the board is Miles Murphy from Clemson.
• 44:42
Speaker 2: Take them, So I'm gonna take Miles Murphy from Clemson.
• 44:45
Speaker 1: Miles Murphy from Clemson. All right, weird year because of
• 44:51
Speaker 1: the Dolphins losing a pick. We now just have one
• 44:55
Speaker 1: final pick and it's at thirty one, and it's the
• 44:58
Speaker 1: Kansas City Chiefs. Can go anywhere here, I've already got.
• 45:05
  Speaker 4: Now.
• 45:05
Speaker 1: My sneaky thing is I like the running back to them.
• 45:07
Speaker 1: But I just took him to the Giants at twenty
• 45:09
  Speaker 1: five at Gibbs.
• 45:11
Speaker 3: Yeah see, I kept thinking like a Gibbs or is
• 45:14
  Speaker 3: a Flowers here?
• 45:15
  Speaker 1: Yeah? Yeah?
• 45:17
Speaker 3: But they're both gone.
• 45:18
Speaker 1: They're both gone. And gosh, wow, a little early for
• 45:27
Speaker 1: my guy Mingo, who I've been pumping up a little
• 45:29
Speaker 1: early for my guy Marvin Mims, a little early for
• 45:33
Speaker 1: Josh Downs. I'm looking at the wide receivers here.
• 45:36
Speaker 3: What about a Jalen Hyatt.
• 45:38
Speaker 1: Jalen Hyatt? How about this one last pick of the
• 45:44
Speaker 1: first round defensive tackle at a Michigan Mazzie Smith. Wow,
• 45:54
Speaker 1: he called all those Michigan games. Yeah, can you give
• 45:56
Speaker 1: us a little something? He is in no first rounds anywhere,
• 45:59
Speaker 1: and yet there's been some late buzz that he might
• 46:02
Speaker 1: be top forty maybe who knows? Thirty one? What's Mozzi
• 46:05
  Speaker 1: Smith's deal?
• 46:05
Speaker 2: So in order to know about Mazi, you got to
• 46:08
Speaker 2: know the intent behind their defensive structure change over the
• 46:12
Speaker 2: last two years. So Jim can't get over the hump
• 46:15
Speaker 2: of Ohio State, right, and he went to his brother
• 46:18
Speaker 2: John and he's like, I got to change defenses. I
• 46:20
Speaker 2: need a coordinator. So John gave him two names. These
• 46:23
Speaker 2: two young coaches who have both worked with John, been
• 46:27
Speaker 2: in the Ravens system. They want to incorporate the Ravens system.
• 46:30
Speaker 2: He gives them these two names, Mike McDonald and Jesse Minter,
• 46:34
Speaker 2: and so Jim interviews them both and says, I like
• 46:36
Speaker 2: them both. And Jim says, well, you got to pick one.
• 46:38
Speaker 2: So he picks Mike and they go on to have
• 46:41
Speaker 2: a great year, go to the playoff, win the Big Ten,
• 46:43
Speaker 2: beat Ohio State, right, and.
• 46:44
  Speaker 1: Hes to Baltimore.
• 46:46
Speaker 2: And then Mike goes back to Baltimore to be the
• 46:48
  Speaker 2: defensive coordinator.
• 46:49
Speaker 3: So what did Jim do.
• 46:50
Speaker 2: He said, well, I want the other guy. So Jesse
• 46:52
Speaker 2: Mintor comes in after spending one year I believe at Vanderbilt,
• 46:55
Speaker 2: and Jesse Mintter comes in. Doesn't change the scheme because
• 46:58
Speaker 2: the whole thing was to run the Baltimore defense, all right,
• 47:02
Speaker 2: So the Baltimore defense is predicated on, at least at
• 47:04
Speaker 2: the college level. The way Michigan incorporates it is that
• 47:07
Speaker 2: the first thing that you have to do is build
• 47:09
Speaker 2: a run wall. You do that with your defensive tackles.
• 47:12
Speaker 2: You build these guys that you're not asking for production.
• 47:14
Speaker 2: All you're doing is asking for stalemates, big, heavy, thick,
• 47:19
Speaker 2: aggressive guys that you're just gonna You're just gonna steimy
• 47:22
Speaker 2: the offensive line and then let your hybrid players run.
• 47:24
Speaker 2: So then you build hard edges on the outside, guys
• 47:26
Speaker 2: like Aiden Hutchinson, right, Mike Morris from this last year
• 47:29
Speaker 2: that can rush the quarterback, hybrid linebackers, good cover corners
• 47:33
Speaker 2: like DJ Turner, who we're going to hear in this
• 47:36
Speaker 2: draft as a corner for Michigan, and then safeties that
• 47:38
Speaker 2: can run and cover as well. That's kind of the
• 47:40
Speaker 2: Baltimore defense as Michigan incorporates it. So the number one
• 47:44
Speaker 2: thing that they had to find first and foremost was
• 47:47
Speaker 2: a defensive tackle. Mike McDonald and Jesse Mintter walk in,
• 47:52
Speaker 2: and the first thing that they see and notice is
• 47:55
Speaker 2: this defense is gonna work. Not because of Aiden Hutchinson,
• 47:58
Speaker 2: not because of DJ Turner, not because of any of
• 48:01
Speaker 2: these guys, but because of Mazzy Smith over the last
• 48:04
Speaker 2: couple of years, and so Mazi was the anchor of
• 48:07
Speaker 2: this defense to allow everybody else to produce around him
• 48:11
Speaker 2: because of what they asked him to do. He's a
• 48:13
Speaker 2: hard worker, great in the locker room, and all the
• 48:17
Speaker 2: coaches rave about what he is and what he provided
• 48:20
Speaker 2: for them. There's a little backstory about Mazie and the
• 48:22
  Speaker 2: Michigan Wolverines.
• 48:23
Speaker 1: Isn't that fun for the listeners? You press a button
• 48:26
Speaker 1: and Joel can just go. And that is why I
• 48:28
Speaker 1: love him, and especially with the big ten guys, because
• 48:30
Speaker 1: when you do a dozen Michigan games over the past
• 48:34
Speaker 1: two years, when you do a dozen Ohio State games,
• 48:37
Speaker 1: you're gonna know stories that no one else does. They're
• 48:38
Speaker 1: gonna have insights no one else does. Now, Aaron, I'm
• 48:41
Speaker 1: gonna let you get back on the mic if you're
• 48:42
Speaker 1: willing to. Can you give us one to thirty one
• 48:46
Speaker 1: recap this thing. I don't want any analysis in between.
• 48:49
Speaker 1: Just give us pick team name, selection and let's let
• 48:53
Speaker 1: it sink in and then Joel will say goodbye afterwards.
• 48:56
  Speaker 1: All right?
• 48:56
Speaker 4: To start number one, The Panthers have bryce young quarterback two,
• 49:00
Speaker 4: the Texans take quarterback CJ. Stroud. Cardinals at three, take
• 49:03
Speaker 4: Will Anderson edge. Colts at four, take Anthony Richardson quarterback.
• 49:08
Speaker 4: Seahawks at five, edge rusher Tyree Wilson. Lions at six,
• 49:12
Speaker 4: take Christian Gonzales quarter cornerback. Raiders at seven, take Devin Weatherspoon,
• 49:17
Speaker 4: also a cornerback. Falcons at eight. Take Jalen Carter the
• 49:21
Speaker 4: defensive tackle. The Bears at nine, take Peter Scarnsky offensive line.
• 49:25
Speaker 4: Eagles at ten take Bjeon Robinson the running back. Titans
• 49:29
Speaker 4: at eleven, take Paris Johnson offensive line. Texans at twelve
• 49:32
Speaker 4: take Jackson Smith and jigbu to pair him up with Stroud.
• 49:36
Speaker 4: Jets at thirteen, take Broderick Jones ot. Patriots at fourteen
• 49:40
Speaker 4: take an ot. They take Darnell Wright Packers at fifteen,
• 49:43
Speaker 4: take Dalton Kincaid tight end, Commanders at sixteen, Joey Porter
• 49:47
Speaker 4: junior cornerback. Steelers at seventeen, missing out on Porter junior,
• 49:52
Speaker 4: take Deontay Banks cornerback Lions at eighteen, Elijah Cansey defensive
• 49:58
Speaker 4: tackle nineteen Buccaneers, Michael Meyer tight end Seahawks at twenty,
• 50:03
Speaker 4: Hendon Hooker quarterback Chargers twenty one. Jordan Addison wide receiver,
• 50:07
Speaker 4: Ravens at twenty two. Take Nolan Smith edge rusher Vikings
• 50:11
Speaker 4: at twenty three. Most likely trade the pick away and
• 50:14
Speaker 4: take someone takes Will Levis quarterback. I can get him
• 50:17
Speaker 4: off the board Jaguars at twenty four. Take Brian Branch cornerback,
• 50:22
Speaker 4: Giants at twenty five. Take Jamior Gibbs running back, Cowboys
• 50:25
Speaker 4: at twenty six. Take Lucas van Ness edge rusher, the
• 50:28
Speaker 4: Bills at twenty seven. Take Quenton Johnson wide receiver, Bengals
• 50:32
Speaker 4: at twenty eight. Take Darnell Washington tight end, Saints at
• 50:35
Speaker 4: twenty nine. Take Zay Flowers wide receiver, Eagles at thirty
• 50:39
Speaker 4: take Miles Murphy edge, and the Chiefs close it out
• 50:42
Speaker 4: at thirty one with Mazzy Smith defensive tackle.
• 50:45
Speaker 1: Nicely Don nicely, Don, Joe, I'm exhausted, buddy, that was
• 50:50
Speaker 1: come on, I want to get a burger or something, Joel,
• 50:54
Speaker 1: Where can we find your content online? As we head
• 50:57
Speaker 1: towards the draft and then empty the daily planner? Where
• 51:01
Speaker 1: can we see you draft weekend?
• 51:03
  Speaker 3: There we go.
• 51:03
Speaker 2: Okay, so first off, you can follow so everything that
• 51:07
Speaker 2: I do, you know on a weekly basis at the
• 51:10
Speaker 2: Joel Clatt Show and you can find that on any
• 51:12
Speaker 2: of the social media's at Joel Clatt Show or go
• 51:14
Speaker 2: download it wherever you get your podcasts. So that usually
• 51:18
Speaker 2: drops at least every Monday. And I've got to by
• 51:21
Speaker 2: the way, I'm gonna pub right now for the first time.
• 51:24
Speaker 2: I've got a summer series coming on the podcast that
• 51:26
Speaker 2: I am really excited about.
• 51:30
  Speaker 3: We're sitting down.
• 51:30
Speaker 1: Are you going on the road.
• 51:32
Speaker 2: We're going on the road, and we're sitting down face
• 51:34
Speaker 2: to face with the most influential voices, powerful voices in
• 51:39
Speaker 2: all of college football. Nick Saban, Ryan Day, Greg Sankei,
• 51:45
Speaker 2: the commissioner of the SEC, new Big Ten commissioner, Tony Pettiti,
• 51:48
Speaker 2: Big Twelve Commissioner, Brett Yormark, Lincoln Riley, Dion Sanders.
• 51:53
Speaker 3: We're sitting down with all of them.
• 51:55
Speaker 2: They'll be released every Monday during the course of the summer,
• 51:58
Speaker 2: starting probably June fifth.
• 51:59
Speaker 1: I love this, so excited to have we started filming
• 52:03
  Speaker 1: them already.
• 52:03
Speaker 3: Yes, we've got four or three of them done already.
• 52:07
Speaker 1: So you've been on the road, yep.
• 52:09
Speaker 2: April's been a busy month, so we've got that. Okay,
• 52:12
Speaker 2: So that's the podcast. This week, I'll be on with
• 52:16
Speaker 2: you on the NFL Network Thursday night on the Main
• 52:19
Speaker 2: Desk with Rich and DJ and CD, as well as
• 52:22
Speaker 2: Friday night. So that's where I'm at there. You can
• 52:25
Speaker 2: find me in the fall doing the big noon game
• 52:28
Speaker 2: with Gus. And I got to tell you, man, it's
• 52:33
Speaker 2: Peter and I got to know each other when we
• 52:35
Speaker 2: were both just pumping it man, like at Fox, we
• 52:40
Speaker 2: were grinding, we were going to mobile and we're covering
• 52:43
Speaker 2: everything that we could possibly cover. And we're sitting backstage
• 52:47
Speaker 2: next to Vander Holyfield at a Snoop concert at a
• 52:50
Speaker 2: super Bowl in Phoenix and looking at each other like
• 52:52
Speaker 2: how did we get invited?
• 52:53
Speaker 3: And then Randy Moss is like I invited.
• 52:55
Speaker 2: You and like weird stories like that, right, And I
• 52:59
Speaker 2: could not be more proud and more happy for Peter
• 53:03
Speaker 2: and what he's done in his career, And obviously I
• 53:04
Speaker 2: feel it super fortunate for what's happened over the last
• 53:07
Speaker 2: eight ten years in mine as well.
• 53:09
Speaker 3: So I appreciate being on this show.
• 53:11
Speaker 1: I think we both have a lot of great feelings
• 53:13
Speaker 1: for each other. I think we're both very grateful for
• 53:14
Speaker 1: the bosses that Fox for letting us be us too.
• 53:17
Speaker 1: Back then, Fox Sports Won was this burgeoning network. It
• 53:21
Speaker 1: was before all the debate shows became the daily schedule.
• 53:25
Speaker 1: There was a couple of shows called America's Pregame Fox,
• 53:28
Speaker 1: Fox Football Daily and Fox Sport Live. These were shows
• 53:33
Speaker 1: that you probably didn't see much of, but when you
• 53:36
Speaker 1: talk about Malcolm Gladwell, in the ten thousand Hours, Joel
• 53:39
Speaker 1: and I got to get all the reps we ever
• 53:42
Speaker 1: needed so that when the big call up came, we
• 53:44
Speaker 1: were ready. And gosh, Joel and I went to a
• 53:47
Speaker 1: Marcus Mariota pro day in Oregon. We went to a
• 53:50
Speaker 1: Jamis Winston pro day at Florida State. We have been
• 53:54
Speaker 1: to multiple Senior Bowls. You and me sitting on those bleachers,
• 53:59
Speaker 1: you know, just introducing ourselves to as many people as
• 54:01
Speaker 1: we could around the league and say what you want
• 54:03
Speaker 1: about us online and hate on us while you call
• 54:06
Speaker 1: it game, or hate on me while eero good Morning football.
• 54:08
Speaker 1: Two of us busted our asses. And I'm so happy
• 54:10
Speaker 1: to see that you've had all the success you have
• 54:12
Speaker 1: because there's no better guy, and there's no better family man.
• 54:14
  Speaker 1: And I'm I'm getting sentimental because it's now we're ten
• 54:17
Speaker 1: years from those days.
• 54:18
Speaker 2: All right, He's like, what's going on here? This is
• 54:20
Speaker 2: turning into a big emotional fest. How's by the way,
• 54:25
Speaker 2: how's everything going with the new family member?
• 54:28
Speaker 1: And great? We got a baby girl name named Betty Erica.
• 54:32
Speaker 1: My wife is holding it down as I'm kind of
• 54:35
Speaker 1: doing my thing. But I am happy to say that
• 54:38
Speaker 1: my son, mel who is six and a half years
• 54:40
Speaker 1: oldest really been great and Julia like this playing flag
• 54:44
Speaker 1: football for the first time. He's playing with older kids.
• 54:46
Speaker 1: He's on a team with seven and eight year olds. Bro,
• 54:50
  Speaker 1: He's like Barry freaking Sanders, Yes, let's go. I don't
• 54:55
Speaker 1: know where he has twitchiness. I don't know where the
• 54:57
Speaker 1: twitchiness comes from. This dude is stuck. I know, I
• 55:02
Speaker 1: know it's not me.
• 55:03
  Speaker 4: There.
• 55:04
Speaker 1: They are the Bengals. They had a big win against
• 55:07
Speaker 1: the Eagles yesterday, and I'm there. I'm so proud, so happy.
• 55:10
Speaker 1: But I'm like already critiquing some of his things. All right,
• 55:12
Speaker 1: I got to stop being that dad. I'm just happy
• 55:15
Speaker 1: for him. I'm the guy who's got the kid playing
• 55:17
Speaker 1: with the older kids, So I love it.
• 55:19
Speaker 3: Dude, that's so good.
• 55:20
Speaker 2: I'm coaching one of my boys in flag football right
• 55:23
Speaker 2: now in spring flag football. The youngest one, middle one
• 55:27
Speaker 2: is also playing. My youngest is six, Theodore, and he
• 55:31
Speaker 2: plays a little quarterback for us. And their team allowed
• 55:35
Speaker 2: like a lower division team to score a touchdown. And
• 55:39
Speaker 2: I brought them all together and I was like, guys, boys,
• 55:41
Speaker 2: I just want you to know that was totally unacceptable.
• 55:46
  Speaker 4: You and me.
• 55:47
Speaker 1: Can you get me a okay, So listen real quick,
• 55:48
Speaker 1: because I think everyone listening is in the draft, but
• 55:51
Speaker 1: you also might have kids. All right, So my kids
• 55:54
Speaker 1: six and a half. I live in Brooklyn, New York.
• 55:56
Speaker 1: There is on one hand the amount of kids who
• 55:59
Speaker 1: have gone on to play in the NFL who live
• 56:00
Speaker 1: in Brooklyn, New York.
• 56:01
  Speaker 3: I think it's like.
• 56:02
Speaker 1: Curtis Samuel and maybe like you know, like Ernie Garfing
• 56:06
Speaker 1: goal from the nineteen forties, you know, and they play
• 56:10
  Speaker 1: in a park and it's there's it's a couple of reps.
• 56:13
Speaker 1: But you're in Orange County, California, where I have to
• 56:17
Speaker 1: imagine it is just a slew Like Bryce Young probably
• 56:21
Speaker 1: came out of your flag football league. So who are
• 56:24
Speaker 1: some of the other dads in this league? If you can, My.
• 56:27
  Speaker 2: Gosh, that's a that's a good one. Okay, So I'll
• 56:29
Speaker 2: give you my next door neighbor. He's got I'll just
• 56:32
Speaker 2: talk about his his he's got three daughters, played in
• 56:35
Speaker 2: the league for seven years.
• 56:36
Speaker 1: Not going to say his name just yet, but he
• 56:39
Speaker 1: has bezos okay, no go one, no, no, no no.
• 56:42
Speaker 2: He he has three daughters and on one of his
• 56:46
Speaker 2: daughter's soccer team. The starting lineup of dads on that
• 56:52
Speaker 2: soccer team is Corey mcghetty.
• 56:55
Speaker 1: Okay, from the NFL, from the NBA.
• 56:57
Speaker 2: I love them, Nick folesh and Evan Moore, who is
• 57:02
Speaker 2: my neighbor seven years. And by the way, Evans brother
• 57:07
Speaker 2: played international professional basketball. Yes, And so these these little
• 57:13
Speaker 2: girls roll out there and they are throttling all these
• 57:17
Speaker 2: other teams in this soccer league, and the dads are
• 57:20
Speaker 2: standing over there and it's like six ' five minimum.
• 57:23
Speaker 2: It's like Nick Foles is the smallest guy on the
• 57:25
Speaker 2: dad's sideline and he's enormous, right, So they're holding it down.
• 57:30
Speaker 1: Okay, And I know that I think your kid was
• 57:33
Speaker 1: in Matt Liner's kids league.
• 57:35
Speaker 2: Who's not the Matt Liner league. And this is where
• 57:38
Speaker 2: like the high school that all the really good players
• 57:41
Speaker 2: go to from where I live I'll go to modern
• 57:44
Speaker 2: day and this is Bryce, This is Matt Lioner, this
• 57:48
  Speaker 2: is Matt Barkley.
• 57:49
Speaker 3: This is that whole lineage.
• 57:50
Speaker 1: Are your kids going to modern day or is it too?
• 57:53
Speaker 3: Probably not, We'll see last one.
• 57:55
  Speaker 1: You're a Colorado guy, Can I be Can I be
• 57:58
Speaker 1: the one to put some dampening of water on this stuff?
• 58:00
Speaker 3: Or don't you dare don't you dare? Well? We're in
• 58:03
Speaker 3: a honeymoon face right?
• 58:04
Speaker 1: He has Twitter. I go on Twitter Saturday. The amount
• 58:09
Speaker 1: of dorks who come out of the world are like,
• 58:12
Speaker 1: that's why you get you know, you get Dean to
• 58:14
Speaker 1: win games. This was fun. But Joe, slow down, Colorado football,
• 58:18
Speaker 1: slow down? This is Look, do you understand the impact
• 58:21
Speaker 1: he's making? No, I want to see Dion coach in
• 58:24
Speaker 1: a big game, and then I'm excited for them too.
• 58:27
Speaker 1: But I'm just trying to manage expectations.
• 58:28
Speaker 3: Bro Well, let me let me listen, let me push
• 58:31
  Speaker 3: back on that.
• 58:32
Speaker 2: All right, I'm going to take your water on the
• 58:34
Speaker 2: throat out because look at Alabama as a great example
• 58:37
Speaker 2: in two thousand and seven. You know when they hired
• 58:40
Speaker 2: Nick Saban, they had around I think it's like I
• 58:43
Speaker 2: want to say, it was like eighteen thousand students and
• 58:46
Speaker 2: they're at Alabama, and now I think it's somewhere in
• 58:50
Speaker 2: the thirty one thirty two there's.
• 58:53
Speaker 1: A David Shula guy. I think they should have stayed
• 58:55
  Speaker 1: with him.
• 58:56
Speaker 2: All right, Well they didn't because now they've got thirteen
• 58:58
Speaker 2: thousand more students at the University of Alabama. And if
• 59:02
Speaker 2: you just give a low estimate to what those thirteen
• 59:04
Speaker 2: thousand students are paying intuition to the University of Alabama,
• 59:08
Speaker 2: do you know what Nick Saban means to Alabama? Yeah,
• 59:11
Speaker 2: about a mile of a billion dollars annually, right, And
• 59:16
Speaker 2: so that's gonna happen at Colorado. The just from an
• 59:20
Speaker 2: academic standpoint, Also, I would say this, they just sold
• 59:23
Speaker 2: out the spring game ten bucks a ticket. They couldn't
