- 0:28Hey everybody, good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:30So today we're going to talk about making a cake It it's a
- 0:34metaphorical thing and I would love to make a cake with all of
- 0:38you, but today we're making a metaphorical cake.
- 0:41So it's interesting when you start to think about a cake, a
- 0:46cake is an end result, right? You look at it has frosting, has
- 0:49topping, whatever you're putting on it, but it's an end result
- 0:51and it's sitting in front of you and it's beautiful.
- 0:54And you just we we somehow have this thing when we see cake as
- 0:58humans that we just like, oh, they just look wonderful and we
- 1:01just want a slice of cake. Most of us.
- 1:03I mean, there are some people out there who are listening who
- 1:05are going to say, I don't like cake.
- 1:06Kim OK, but think of pie. Whatever it is that you like, it
- 1:09doesn't matter. Think of your main end result
- 1:12like a dessert that you love. Ice cream even.
- 1:15OK, it made ice cream for years when I had my Gelato shop.
- 1:18And it's an end result. Whatever it is, you're looking
- 1:21at it and it's an end result. Now let's talk about how we get
- 1:25to that end result. It's made-up of a bunch of
- 1:28different ingredients. It's eggs.
- 1:30I'm going to go back to the cake.
- 1:32So it's eggs, it's flour, it's oil, it's maybe some milk, maybe
- 1:37something else that's going into it for the liquid.
- 1:40Maybe there's flavourings, there's colourings.
- 1:42Whatever it might be, there are a bunch of different
- 1:44ingredients. Now, typically when you're
- 1:45making a cake, you get all your ingredients set up and you put
- 1:49them on the counter and they're all measured out because you got
- 1:52to measure everything to make sure you have the right amounts
- 1:54of ingredients. And you typically, if you're
- 1:57insane like me, you love to measure them all ahead of time.
- 2:01So you have them all right in front of you and you can triple
- 2:03check to make sure you're not missing anything.
- 2:05Because in baking, we all know it's more of a science oriented
- 2:08thing and you've got to have the right amounts of things in order
- 2:11to do it. Now listen, see, apparently
- 2:15Rufus agrees with that. So in the process of it, if you
- 2:20add too much of something like baking soda, baking powder,
- 2:23whatever it might be, you change the end result of that cake.
- 2:28Too much flour, too much liquid. And we know it's a science.
- 2:32We all say that about baking. It's not like cooking where,
- 2:35where when you're at the stove, I can watch my husband just
- 2:38throw little bits in here and, and it tastes amazing.
- 2:41And I would be like, no, not able to do that.
- 2:43I like the more science stuff where it's very specific, but
- 2:47this particular metaphor we're using today, we're talking about
- 2:51the end ingredient. We look at it and we say, wow,
- 2:54that's amazing. There are all these other
- 2:57ingredients that go into it that seem they're, they're virtually
- 3:01not noticed. They're unnoticeable at in the
- 3:04at the end result. And then when it's all combined
- 3:08and it's baked, it still has to go in the oven and bake.
- 3:11Then you have to take it out, you have to frost it, and you
- 3:13have to make it look pretty before you get there.
- 3:15Now, here's what's strange about all of this.
- 3:17How many of us are given all the ingredients, but we don't take
- 3:23the step to mix them? Or we're given all the
- 3:27ingredients and we leave one of them out.
- 3:31And again, metaphorically speaking, we're talking about
- 3:34whatever your goals, whatever your life is.
- 3:36So we're given certain aspects of making those things happen.
- 3:42God and the universe provide them to us, but we don't put
- 3:45them all in the bowl and we don't mix them.
- 3:47Or we put them all in the bowl and we mix them, but we don't
- 3:51actually go ahead and say, OK, now I'm going to put them in a
- 3:55pan and put it in the oven and still, you know, work on it or
- 4:01I'm not going to grease the pan. I'm going to do everything but
- 4:03grease the pan. And I don't like greasing the
- 4:06pan. So therefore you don't grease
- 4:08the pan. And then what happens?
- 4:10All of a sudden your cake falls apart.
- 4:12It sticks and it falls apart. And you're really angry.
- 4:16You're just peeved that this whole thing went this way.
- 4:19And you're like, why? Why did this have to happen?
- 4:22Well, part of this, and This is why it's such a great metaphor,
- 4:26is to recognize you can have all the ingredients, you can have
- 4:32all the the written instructions, but if you're not
- 4:35doing them all, and that includes all the mindset work,
- 4:39that's like sometimes for me, greasing the pan, that's for me
- 4:44standing there and knowing it's going to take a certain number
- 4:46of minutes to cook that cake and I'm still not willing to
- 4:51actually wait that amount of time.
- 4:52I'm anxious about it. I just want to get it done.
- 4:55My certainty, girls like pushing, pushing, pushing,
- 4:57pushing, but it takes all of them in order to get that end
- 5:01result. And when you're not giving
- 5:03yourself all of that information and taking it all in and using
- 5:09it and applying it in a productive way and doing that
- 5:12work, then you're going to have problems with it.
- 5:16And you thinking of it like a recipe is so important, but
- 5:21often when you're looking at it, it's like a lot of people want
- 5:24to go and they want to buy programs and put themselves into
- 5:27the programs. Great, you can follow all their
- 5:29instructions. But if you are not in the
- 5:31mindset and you're not willing to do the mental work in order
- 5:34to get there, you're still going to have the problems.
- 5:37So keep that in mind, my friends.
- 5:39Always remember, you got to follow them all the way.
- 5:42And you've got to make sure that you're willing to do the parts
- 5:44of that. Even if you've got the
- 5:47ingredients, you've got to be willing to do the parts you
- 5:48might not want to. All right, everybody, I hope you
- 5:51have a blessed day and go bake a cake.
- 5:54Bye.
