- 0:00Speaker 1: Ben Higgins and Ashley I bring you infamous.
- 0:04Speaker 2: Sometimes roses are red flags.
- 0:07Speaker 3: Hey everyone, it is Ashley and Ben. We're here with
- 0:12Speaker 3: some kind of breaking Bachelor news. HGTV has announced that
- 0:15Speaker 3: they're going to be renovating the Bachelor Mansion for a
- 0:19Speaker 3: new TV show. Ben, what are your initial thoughts?
- 0:24Speaker 4: It's about time?
- 0:25Speaker 1: Oh really?
- 0:26Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 0:27Speaker 1: Stop? Oh I'm nostalgic to it.
- 0:30Speaker 5: It if you went to the mansion, well you did.
- 0:33Speaker 5: We were there with Almoston's podcast. When there's not the
- 0:36Speaker 5: pillows and the nice furniture and it's all painted, the
- 0:39Speaker 5: house is you know, old, it's beat up a little bit.
- 0:43Speaker 5: It needs some refreshing.
- 0:45Speaker 4: Now.
- 0:47Speaker 5: I don't think I think the I think the question
- 0:49Speaker 5: is how much renovation because it does have a lot
- 0:52Speaker 5: of character it is, That's what I mean. Yeah, the
- 0:54Speaker 5: architecture in there is awesome. I'm not wanting them to
- 0:58Speaker 5: like modernize it. I think take away from everything. Yeah,
- 1:02Speaker 5: like the Spanish style kind of architecture is beautiful inside
- 1:05Speaker 5: and now it just needs some like love.
- 1:08Speaker 3: I would say, okay, yeah, because I don't want to
- 1:12Speaker 3: change the aesthetic. I like the Mediterranean vibe.
- 1:16Speaker 1: It's very ornate. I like that for this. I can't.
- 1:20Speaker 3: Could you imagine them filming the show and like some black,
- 1:24Speaker 3: gray and white millennial you know aesthetic.
- 1:28Speaker 1: No, that'd be so cold.
- 1:30Speaker 5: It would be cold, it wouldn't be unique, it wouldn't
- 1:33Speaker 5: be as as magical fantastical as it is today. But
- 1:37Speaker 5: I'm imagining the owners of this property don't want that
- 1:41Speaker 5: modern aesthetic that if they they enjoy what they've built
- 1:45Speaker 5: or what they own.
- 1:46Speaker 3: Because he's a builder, he is a contractor, like he
- 1:50Speaker 3: designed that house with his heart, soul and hands.
- 1:53Speaker 5: Yeah, so I think this is more of like a
- 1:55Speaker 5: freshen up of it, and HGTV is seeing a great
- 1:59Speaker 5: opportunity to jump on on board with it.
- 2:00Speaker 4: I mean, everybody will want to watch.
- 2:03Speaker 3: Yeah, this is actually a great show. I'm excited for
- 2:05Speaker 3: the show, if not excited for the actual aesthetic changing.
- 2:09Speaker 3: So this is the details that These are the details
- 2:11Speaker 3: we have. It's called Renovating the Bachelor Mansion. And Channing Dungee,
- 2:17Speaker 3: the chairman and CEO of Warner Brothers, which is also
- 2:20Speaker 3: you know, the production company of The Bachelor, announced the
- 2:24Speaker 3: series along with the hosts of other shows that he
- 2:28Speaker 3: had like a whole bunch of other shows that they
- 2:30Speaker 3: were announcing and it was at Discoveries upfront presentation on Wednesday.
- 2:34Speaker 3: It's called Renovating the Bachelor Mansion. That is simply what
- 2:37Speaker 3: it's called. And it's going to It's gonna feature former
- 2:40Speaker 3: Bachelor and Bachelor at contestants who possess the expert renovation
- 2:45Speaker 3: skills to compete in.
- 2:47Speaker 1: A design challenge series.
- 2:50Speaker 3: Now that to me sounds that Jojo and Jordan will
- 2:54Speaker 3: be fronting, does it not?
- 2:59Speaker 5: So you have Chris Lambert who has a show on HDTV.
- 3:02Speaker 5: Tyler Cameron obviously has renovated homes consistent.
- 3:07Speaker 1: He had a show on it was It? Amazon?
- 3:09Speaker 4: Yeah, wasn't that dog Houses? Though? No, a doghouse show.
- 3:15Speaker 1: He may have appeared on a doghouse show.
- 3:17Speaker 5: Okay, okay, So Jojo, Jordan, Tyler, Chris Lambert. I can't
- 3:25Speaker 5: think of any others that come to the top of them.
- 3:27Speaker 2: Oh what about isn't she like a designer?
- 3:32Speaker 4: Oh?
- 3:32Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 3:33Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:33Speaker 5: So, like the question is are they going to be
- 3:35Speaker 5: able to get those people?
- 3:36Speaker 3: Uh? Well, I feel like Jojo and Jordan have won
- 3:39Speaker 3: on as renovation show for quite some time, and I
- 3:43Speaker 3: know that, you know, broadcast media is a little bit
- 3:46Speaker 3: of the yesteryear. But Tyler probably HGTV is such a
- 3:51Speaker 3: huge name and they do so well with Discovery Plus,
- 3:54Speaker 3: and it'll obviously stream on there that I feel like
- 3:56Speaker 3: he's going to be excited about getting his show on
- 3:59Speaker 3: such a mar network and the winner gets a cash prize.
- 4:03Speaker 5: There's a lot going on here, and that's all we know.
- 4:06Speaker 5: It's time, Ashley, what we're gonna do. Because of the
- 4:09Speaker 5: mansion and because of the memories that have been made
- 4:12Speaker 5: at the mansion, we want to bring some people who
- 4:14Speaker 5: have lived at the mansion, including you and I, to
- 4:18Speaker 5: talk about what their favorite parts of the mansion are
- 4:20Speaker 5: currently what they hope doesn't change any secrets they have
- 4:25Speaker 5: of the mansion. So we have a list of what
- 4:27Speaker 5: we call all Star guests, including Susan Knowles and Rachel Rekia.
- 4:33Speaker 3: We have Charity and Dowton and Mike Johnson and Suzie
- 4:38Speaker 3: Evans coming on. All right, so let's get our first
- 4:41Speaker 3: caller on the line. We have Mike Johnson on the line. Now, Mike,
- 4:45Speaker 3: we're talking about favorite Bachelor Mansion memories and like crazy
- 4:50Speaker 3: things that you remember from the house itself, like do
- 4:55Speaker 3: you have like, okay, like a toilet clog or anything
- 4:59Speaker 3: broke while you were in there.
- 5:00Speaker 6: Nothing was broke except for the barbers that we had
- 5:03Speaker 6: come by. But I think my craziest memories was just.
- 5:09Speaker 4: Yeah, didn't hear them. That's good. I like that. That
- 5:14Speaker 4: was nice, Mike, you.
- 5:15Speaker 6: Know, going on Ashal TV with your hair all the
- 5:17Speaker 6: outside look.
- 5:20Speaker 2: True story.
- 5:21Speaker 7: My mom said.
- 5:22Speaker 6: The first thing she said she saw the episode the
- 5:24Speaker 6: first episode was did you not have a barber? First thing.
- 5:31Speaker 5: I've shared this story like a few times, but I
- 5:34Speaker 5: was at the bachelor mansion probably like five hours before
- 5:38Speaker 5: the girls are going to show up, so like night one,
- 5:41Speaker 5: and I had been out there for probably like two
- 5:43Speaker 5: weeks doing like b roll and all that stuff, and
- 5:46Speaker 5: I said, hey, you know what it would really help
- 5:48Speaker 5: is if I could get a haircut to before tonight,
- 5:51Speaker 5: like it would make me look better. And I had
- 5:55Speaker 5: to do so much convincing and I was like, I
- 5:57Speaker 5: won't feel confident with that one. So they take me
- 5:59Speaker 5: to get a haircut. The guy, uh shaves my side
- 6:03Speaker 5: so tight that you could see like the white of
- 6:08Speaker 5: my head and they had to put black powder in
- 6:13Speaker 5: my hair to cover up from the white showing through.
- 6:15Speaker 5: On night one, they were all panicking which makes your
- 6:18Speaker 5: confidence go absolutely to a zero whenever it's like your
- 6:21Speaker 5: hair looks terrible and you're like, wait, I'm about to
- 6:23Speaker 5: go on national television.
- 6:28Speaker 4: It's very bad.
- 6:29Speaker 5: So, Mike, I have a question for you. At the
- 6:34Speaker 5: Bachelor Mansion was when I was on the Bachelor, and
- 6:36Speaker 5: I'm curious if they did the same thing to you.
- 6:38Speaker 5: They put up a sign in the bathroom that that said,
- 6:41Speaker 5: please stop like relieving yourself in the showers clogging the drains.
- 6:44Speaker 2: Did they do that for you guys?
- 6:46Speaker 6: Yes, forever.
- 6:51Speaker 1: Pardon me.
- 6:55Speaker 4: Theower?
- 6:58Speaker 3: Yeah, that's fine. I pee in the shower are regularly
- 7:01Speaker 3: to be honest.
- 7:02Speaker 5: Well, I'm glad you just admitted that, But that's not
- 7:03Speaker 5: what we're talking about.
- 7:08Speaker 1: What is going on.
- 7:10Speaker 5: Actually, let's explain this to you, all right, I'll start Mike. Actually, no,
- 7:14Speaker 5: you know, I'm gonna let Mike explain this to you
- 7:16Speaker 5: because he is in sexual education. Okay, yeah, you got there.
- 7:23Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, I'm not going to explain that.
- 7:30Speaker 4: There's a sign.
- 7:32Speaker 1: This is a great episode so far.
- 7:34Speaker 5: No, there's literally a sign. And so, Mike, are you
- 7:36Speaker 5: confirming that you all also had the same sign?
- 7:38Speaker 6: I am confirming that I did not witness I was
- 7:41Speaker 6: not any of that.
- 7:42Speaker 1: I don't hope in the middle of night and see it.
- 7:44Speaker 6: So I'm very happy about that.
- 7:46Speaker 5: Yeah, we had a sign that said please stop, you're
- 7:49Speaker 5: clogging the rains, and obviously that's a funny little thing
- 7:53Speaker 5: to think about. And then everybody shower. There's only I
- 7:56Speaker 5: don't know, you guys could tell me, what is there?
- 7:58Speaker 5: Two or three showers for everybody that showering?
- 8:01Speaker 6: Three I feel.
- 8:03Speaker 5: Yeah, so like after night one, when everybody moves in,
- 8:06Speaker 5: you have twenty some people showering in two or three showers.
- 8:11Speaker 2: Uh, it's it's a mess. It's not easy.
- 8:15Speaker 4: No, there's one downstairs too, there's one downstairs. Okay, there's
- 8:19Speaker 4: four showers that people can shower.
- 8:21Speaker 3: I would always use that shower because I felt it
- 8:23Speaker 3: was the most private because that way you could lock
- 8:26Speaker 3: the door, you could go poop and then you could shower.
- 8:29Speaker 3: No one would smell it, and you do all your
- 8:31Speaker 3: private things in a locked door.
- 8:34Speaker 4: Yeah, no one smell.
- 8:35Speaker 5: That's a big deal for Ashley, very secretive about her functions.
- 8:39Speaker 1: I can't imagine.
- 8:40Speaker 3: You guys must have just blown up the toilets with
- 8:43Speaker 3: like no candles. Well, probably within like four months of
- 8:54Speaker 3: us being together.
- 8:58Speaker 5: Couple, Yeah, Mike, any sorries from the mansion that come
- 9:01Speaker 5: to mind, Well, you know, we're talking about this because
- 9:03Speaker 5: HGTV just announced that they're doing a renovation show focus
- 9:08Speaker 5: on the Bachelor mansion.
- 9:09Speaker 4: It's a big deal.
- 9:11Speaker 5: Bachelor contestants are going to be a part of this show.
- 9:16Speaker 5: If you're surprised by it, obviously you're not on the show.
- 9:20Speaker 4: And so.
- 9:22Speaker 5: What I guess maybe this's a better question. What's one
- 9:25Speaker 5: thing you hope they don't change about the mansion?
- 9:27Speaker 6: You know, I loved my first and last time of
- 9:31Speaker 6: having myself and twenty guys an inch piece. It was fun.
- 9:36Speaker 7: It was fun.
- 9:36Speaker 4: I really liked it.
- 9:37Speaker 6: You know, there's a bunch of guys hanging out.
- 9:39Speaker 4: You know, so you went to pool Jacuzias day. I
- 9:42Speaker 4: mean we get a grotto.
- 9:44Speaker 6: Yeah, it's like a really cool I'm definitely going to
- 9:48Speaker 6: mess it up. It's just what I know of Ggrato
- 9:49Speaker 6: is like a really cool pool with like a little
- 9:54Speaker 6: stone on top of it.
- 9:55Speaker 3: Shall I say, oh, like waterfalls and caves and stuff.
- 10:00Speaker 3: See now that you think about now that I'm thinking
- 10:02Speaker 3: about the outside, Yeah, I can see them renovating the
- 10:05Speaker 3: pool area.
- 10:06Speaker 5: I mean, I'm saying, this just needs a little touch up,
- 10:09Speaker 5: a little love. Mike, thanks for thanks for jumping on
- 10:13Speaker 5: to talk to us about the Bachelor Mansion. We appreciate you,
- 10:16Speaker 5: thanks for giving us your insights, and I'm glad our
- 10:20Speaker 5: two seasons can relate at least on one thing, uh,
- 10:23Speaker 5: and that is that we're dangerous, dangerous in the locker room.
- 10:27Speaker 5: Mike Johnson, thanks for coming. Rachel, Hi, welcome back to
- 10:47Speaker 5: the United States.
- 10:48Speaker 1: Thank you from Africa, not from Paradise. Guys, too excited.
- 10:53Speaker 4: I could have left it as a cliffhanger.
- 10:55Speaker 7: I'm not so you, guys, Please, I can't handle it.
- 10:59Speaker 7: Another thing.
- 11:00Speaker 1: I know, we know, we know you're dating Blake. You
- 11:03Speaker 1: can't go there.
- 11:04Speaker 7: Every time Ast messaged me when I was there, I
- 11:06Speaker 7: told him, like I tell her every single time, not dating.
- 11:11Speaker 3: Okay, Well, can you just explain like the arm around
- 11:14Speaker 3: your leg situation.
- 11:15Speaker 7: Then we were sitting in a tire and I was
- 11:19Speaker 7: gonna fly out because he's bigger, so she was in
- 11:22Speaker 7: the whole tire. So I was on like the edge
- 11:25Speaker 7: of it, and then I had my leg just trying
- 11:27Speaker 7: to like stay on it.
- 11:30Speaker 5: There's nothing romantic about a sunset with animals and attire,
- 11:35Speaker 5: with a strong man protecting you from falling out or something.
- 11:38Speaker 7: No, he probably wouldn't even care if I did fall out, honestly.
- 11:42Speaker 3: Well, if you're not together after that trip, then I
- 11:45Speaker 3: guess you won't be together. But all right, all right,
- 11:49Speaker 3: all right, So as your time as the Bachelor at
- 11:53Speaker 3: do you have any stories from the mansion, Like from
- 11:57Speaker 3: the mansion itself, anything funny happen been outside by.
- 12:01Speaker 1: The pool in the kitchen.
- 12:03Speaker 3: The kitchen is just like a big hangout spot where
- 12:06Speaker 3: everybody has to cook.
- 12:07Speaker 1: Their own meals, So there's got to be a story there, right.
- 12:10Speaker 7: Well, first of all about the kitchen, Me and Jill
- 12:13Speaker 7: Chin were terrified to go in the kitchen because I
- 12:17Speaker 7: don't know if you remember, on our season of The Boucher,
- 12:20Speaker 7: we had shrimp gate, so there was just a weird
- 12:24Speaker 7: cooking thing happening in there. Who was getting what food?
- 12:27Speaker 7: So we wouldn't eat the food that was cooked, and
- 12:30Speaker 7: we weren't cooking. We were just living off of go
- 12:32Speaker 7: macro bars the entire time.
- 12:34Speaker 1: It's very intimidating to cook in that kitchen.
- 12:37Speaker 7: No, there was no way I was doing it. I
- 12:38Speaker 7: would wash the dishes, to make it seem like I
- 12:40Speaker 7: was contributing to the house and I wouldn't eat the food.
- 12:43Speaker 7: I was terrified of those girls at the time.
- 12:46Speaker 5: It's interesting, you know, you get to make a grocery
- 12:49Speaker 5: list and they do do a great job of going
- 12:51Speaker 5: out and getting the food that everybody wants. I remember
- 12:54Speaker 5: there and I wonder if this is the same way
- 12:56Speaker 5: with the Bachelorette or with the Bachelor seasons. When I
- 13:00Speaker 5: was on the Bachelorette, there was almost like a power
- 13:02Speaker 5: struggle who to who would be cooking, Like I think
- 13:07Speaker 5: some guy wanted to show off, like, hey, I'm a cook,
- 13:11Speaker 5: I'm a good cook, and I want to feed the people,
- 13:13Speaker 5: and I want Caitlin to find out that I'm the
- 13:15Speaker 5: guy that feeds everybody. And it was like this weird
- 13:18Speaker 5: struggle amongst some guys to like show off in the kitchen,
- 13:22Speaker 5: and it was a very weird dynamic, and it did
- 13:25Speaker 5: make the kitchen in a sense inaccessible to everybody else
- 13:29Speaker 5: because if I was like, hey, I don't really want
- 13:31Speaker 5: your RIGATONI that you're like flaming up on the stove.
- 13:35Speaker 5: I'm just down for like a turkey sandwich, it would
- 13:38Speaker 5: be offensive to them and then I was worried about
- 13:41Speaker 5: like causing drama over my turkey sandwich.
- 13:44Speaker 7: No, genuinely. And then it's like how much food do
- 13:46Speaker 7: you take because they're not making enough for realistically thirty
- 13:50Speaker 7: people to really eat, so you take just a little,
- 13:53Speaker 7: and then you're like, it's just a whole thing. It's definitely,
- 13:56Speaker 7: like you said, very intimidating. On our season, it was
- 13:59Speaker 7: Sierra Hate and they were always in the kitchen cooking
- 14:03Speaker 7: besides the Shrimpgate of Shnee.
- 14:05Speaker 4: But yeah, I did not go in there, Ashley, what
- 14:08Speaker 4: about you.
- 14:09Speaker 3: I remember discovering avocados for the first time, like I
- 14:12Speaker 3: never really regularly ate. I never ate avocado avocados actually
- 14:17Speaker 3: before the Bachelor Mansion, and I always just thought like
- 14:21Speaker 3: I would have it like in sushi or like wacamoleia,
- 14:23Speaker 3: And I was like, I was like you this, and
- 14:27Speaker 3: then I don't know, they had them so available. It
- 14:31Speaker 3: was everybody's like number one request and they were perfectly ripe.
- 14:34Speaker 3: That's what I remember, because it's hard to get avocados right,
- 14:37Speaker 3: they're like ripe for maybe a day. They're always great
- 14:42Speaker 3: in the mansion. So I discovered, yeah because of California,
- 14:45Speaker 3: and I discovered just like how great avocado on toast
- 14:50Speaker 3: with turkey and saracho was. And so that's what I
- 14:54Speaker 3: basically had every single day, and a lot of dinners
- 14:58Speaker 3: as well.
- 14:59Speaker 1: Yeah, like everyone has.
- 15:00Speaker 7: That one thing they just say every day just to
- 15:02Speaker 7: survive that and alcohol nothing else.
- 15:07Speaker 3: I could just like make it myself in the corner
- 15:10Speaker 3: and not have to make a big deal out of it,
- 15:12Speaker 3: and then I could just wash the one plate and
- 15:14Speaker 3: now have to worry about making a whole mess.
- 15:16Speaker 7: Ye, because then it's like who's watching dishes, who's not
- 15:19Speaker 7: washing the dishes.
- 15:20Speaker 1: It's a whole thing, exactly.
- 15:22Speaker 2: I have a few questions.
- 15:23Speaker 4: A couple of things I don't remember.
- 15:25Speaker 5: So I imagine myself being a guy who would have enjoyed
- 15:29Speaker 5: a cocktail during the day while filming the Bachelorette because
- 15:33Speaker 5: there ain't nothing to do and you're usually sitting by
- 15:35Speaker 5: a pool. I don't remember where alcohol was accessible, and
- 15:39Speaker 5: this was before like alcohol became like, you know, two
- 15:42Speaker 5: drink minimums. I don't remember where we maximums.
- 15:49Speaker 1: Minimums.
- 15:50Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't remember where we had access.
- 15:53Speaker 2: Do you all remember this?
- 15:55Speaker 7: I remember exactly where it was, and I remember exactly
- 15:58Speaker 7: the time.
- 15:59Speaker 3: Okay, I was at that bar that was but you
- 16:04Speaker 3: were after our maximum.
- 16:05Speaker 7: Time every single day.
- 16:07Speaker 2: Where was the bar that was a different era though,
- 16:10Speaker 2: they just have it sitting out for us.
- 16:13Speaker 1: Where was our bar?
- 16:14Speaker 4: Where was arc bar?
- 16:16Speaker 1: I don't remember. I just remember there's always bottles of
- 16:19Speaker 1: white wine open during the day because it was ladies,
- 16:22Speaker 1: you know, we didn't have.
- 16:23Speaker 7: The open bottle. But I had to live in a
- 16:25Speaker 7: house with Jane, so I was I was trying to
- 16:29Speaker 7: escape anywhere Mimosa twelve red wine at night. I was
- 16:34Speaker 7: having a great time.
- 16:35Speaker 2: Yeah, you can relax.
- 16:37Speaker 5: My next question is during the season I was on
- 16:40Speaker 5: the Bachelorette, it became a really also big deal for
- 16:43Speaker 5: guys to work out, and there were sand bags that
- 16:48Speaker 5: like would set up some tents for production and some
- 16:51Speaker 5: of the guys would get their hands on these sand
- 16:53Speaker 5: bags and just run the property like holding a sand
- 16:57Speaker 5: bag and then do like all these workouts because we
- 16:59Speaker 5: had so many personal trainers on that season, so many
- 17:02Speaker 5: guys so into working out.
- 17:04Speaker 2: Did you all work out at the mansion?
- 17:08Speaker 7: No?
- 17:09Speaker 1: No, I mean there were girls that did. Yes.
- 17:12Speaker 3: It was Jillian Anderson and Britt and they would do
- 17:14Speaker 3: laps around the pool like not the actual pool. Like
- 17:17Speaker 3: if you guys don't know, if you go downward into
- 17:20Speaker 3: like the backyard, there's like a backyard.
- 17:23Speaker 1: And it's paved.
- 17:24Speaker 3: So they would do laps around the whole house, including
- 17:27Speaker 3: that area, and I would.
- 17:29Speaker 1: Be like, good for you guys.
- 17:30Speaker 2: It was a big deal. It wasn't really my thing.
- 17:34Speaker 5: If I hadn't had abs yet, I wasn't going to
- 17:36Speaker 5: get abs living in the Bachelor Mansion. But it was
- 17:39Speaker 5: a good way to kind of blow some steam. It's
- 17:41Speaker 5: not a big property. It's probably a half acre maybe
- 17:45Speaker 5: an acre, and you just run around the acreage for
- 17:48Speaker 5: you know, as long as the show would let you

- 18:23Speaker 7: came in, she just fell over and she broke the
- 18:26Speaker 7: bed and it was the funniest thing ever. And I'll
- 18:29Speaker 7: never forget it. But yeah, Serene, we had some good
