- 0:14Speaker 1: with Greg Cosell and get to ask him their tape
- 0:17Speaker 1: breakdown questions directly, and they get Greg's responses. It's one
- 0:21Speaker 1: of the most popular shows we have on Patreon. You
- 0:25Speaker 1: can get the full version of this show and ask
- 0:28Speaker 1: Greg your own questions by becoming a Tier three Bomb

- 0:37Speaker 1: Birds become a member today. All Right, hello everybody, how
- 0:52Speaker 1: are we doing?
- 0:54Speaker 2: What's happenings?
- 0:55Speaker 1: Yeah, we got a little bit of a small crowd
- 0:57Speaker 1: to start, but I'm sure. Wow, look at Frank with
- 0:59Speaker 1: the glasses on, not in the ten top, Holy cow,
- 1:04Speaker 1: must be a special day. All right, we'll get Eddie
- 1:07Speaker 1: in here and then we'll get started. In fact, why
- 1:11Speaker 1: don't we start off right now?
- 1:13Speaker 3: We'll go to Chris.
- 1:15Speaker 1: Chris is first up tonight on Ask Greg Kosel.
- 1:18Speaker 4: Hey, how's it going?
- 1:18Speaker 5: Greg?
- 1:18Speaker 4: I appreciate your breakdown. It's nice to have those before.
- 1:21Speaker 4: We asked some questions, so that answered most of my
- 1:24Speaker 4: offensive questions. So I'm kind of hoping now that we've
- 1:26Speaker 4: had four games, how Jlyx Hunt has been looking in
- 1:29Speaker 4: Zidarius Smith. Just kind of wanted to see your thoughts
- 1:32Speaker 4: of them and how they're kind of adapting to get
- 1:34Speaker 4: the changes to the defense this year.
- 1:37Speaker 2: Gee, you didn't want to talk about that explosive Eagles offense.
- 1:41Speaker 4: It does seem like they're contractively obligated to run on
- 1:44Speaker 4: first down.
- 1:48Speaker 2: I think they're contractually obligated not to throw the football
- 1:51Speaker 2: for any yardage. So you want to know about Darius
- 1:56Speaker 2: Smith and Jaelix Hunt. Was that your question?
- 1:58Speaker 4: Yeah, I just wanted to see how they're especially Daly's,
- 2:01Speaker 4: how he's developing or lacker of I don't know.
- 2:03Speaker 2: Yeah, your thoughts so I guess is his past rush
- 2:07Speaker 2: is probably developing, maybe a little more slowly than they
- 2:10Speaker 2: would like because he's obviously big, he's physical, he's a
- 2:15Speaker 2: really good athlete, but rushing the quarterback is his There's
- 2:19Speaker 2: a there's traits to that, not just being a great athlete,
- 2:22Speaker 2: and obviously in his background, other than his last year
- 2:25Speaker 2: in college, he really hasn't done any of that, So
- 2:28Speaker 2: I think he's still a work in progress, and I
- 2:30Speaker 2: think that's one reason why he often doesn't play on
- 2:33Speaker 2: you know, in past situations. Z Darius Smith. I noticed
- 2:37Speaker 2: him on film. You know, he's he's a good pass rusher.
- 2:41Speaker 2: The thing about watching guys rush the quarterback is you
- 2:43Speaker 2: can't just go by sacks or quarterback hits, you know what.
- 2:46Speaker 3: I what.
- 2:48Speaker 2: You know, sometimes the balls out because of the nature
- 2:50Speaker 2: of the the play call by the offense. You know,
- 2:54Speaker 2: if it's three step drop timing or five step drop timing,
- 2:56Speaker 2: you're really not going to get there, certainly not for
- 2:58Speaker 2: as an age rusher. But Smith is is he's got
- 3:02Speaker 2: some speed to power. You know, he's just a solid
- 3:05Speaker 2: pass rusher. Is he one of the best in the league. No,
- 3:07Speaker 2: But I think they got him. I'm not saying they
- 3:09Speaker 2: knew about Nolan Smith. I don't know, you know, in
- 3:11Speaker 2: the building, if they knew Nolan Smith was gonna need surgery.
- 3:14Speaker 2: But I think they probably got him more so because
- 3:17Speaker 2: j Alex Hunt was probably not coming along quite as
- 3:21Speaker 2: as they hoped. I still have great hope that he will,
- 3:23Speaker 2: just because he's, you know, really good athlete, and I
- 3:26Speaker 2: think he has the traits to do that, and he
- 3:28Speaker 2: has showed it on occasion, but it's not there yet.
- 3:33Speaker 5: Is there a reason that you're seeing on tape why
- 3:35Speaker 5: we use so much two by two instead of like
- 3:39Speaker 5: three by one with Aj like isolated?
- 3:41Speaker 2: I mean, if there is, I certainly don't know it,
- 3:44Speaker 2: And again I don't there's no way you'd have to
- 3:47Speaker 2: chart every play to find out if that's indeed true.
- 3:50Speaker 2: Certainly J Brown is a boundary X type receiver that
- 3:53Speaker 2: can win one on one. What I have been surprised by, Paul,
- 3:57Speaker 2: quite frankly, is that they've not thrown him the ball,
- 4:00Speaker 2: with the exception of the second half of Game three
- 4:03Speaker 2: against the Rams, they've not really thrown him the ball
- 4:06Speaker 2: when he's been the isolated receiver. And you know, that
- 4:10Speaker 2: has been surprising to me because that's one thing they've
- 4:13Speaker 2: done really, really well over the last number of years.
- 4:16Speaker 2: You could almost always count on that. Now, I thought
- 4:19Speaker 2: this week they tried to do that early. They on
- 4:21Speaker 2: the first possession, they threw him, if I'm not mistaken,
- 4:25Speaker 2: a deep ball on the first possession. They came back
- 4:27Speaker 2: to it a number of times. You know, they actually
- 4:31Speaker 2: threw a go ball to Brown on the third play
- 4:34Speaker 2: of the game. The Bucks were in cover one Dean
- 4:36Speaker 2: was matched on Brown. It was it was really good coverage.
- 4:38Speaker 2: It was incomplete, but I think they threw Jeff maybe
- 4:41Speaker 2: you remember, I think they threw three vertical balls to
- 4:45Speaker 2: Brown in this game, of which none of them were complete.
- 4:48Speaker 2: So you know, we'll see if they They've done that
- 4:51Speaker 2: well over the years, but obviously in this game it
- 4:54Speaker 2: didn't work. But you know, Brown is a true boundary
- 4:58Speaker 2: X and it's not just a I mean, he can
- 5:00Speaker 2: win all kinds of routes.
- 5:02Speaker 5: My question is, is I had the thought knowing that
- 5:07Speaker 5: Cam Jurgens got injured in the playoffs in January and February,
- 5:12Speaker 5: and he just hasn't looked like himself yet this season.
- 5:16Speaker 5: I wonder if there's a connection there. And I don't
- 5:19Speaker 5: know if there's anything on tape that might lead someone
- 5:22Speaker 5: to infer that, but I'm just wondering if there's anything
- 5:25Speaker 5: specifically that you've seen on the tape on Jurgens that
- 5:30Speaker 5: might illuminate what's going on with them.
- 5:34Speaker 2: Jeff, did he have surgery this offseason? I think he did.
- 5:36Speaker 1: He had back surgery right after the Super Bowl.
- 5:39Speaker 2: That's right. He well, I can tell you at Travis
- 5:41Speaker 2: he hasn't looked the same as he has, you know
- 5:44Speaker 2: that he did last year. So you know, again, I
- 5:47Speaker 2: can't tell you why that's I couldn't answer that part.
- 5:51Speaker 2: But he certainly has not looked like the same player,
- 5:54Speaker 2: and I don't think he's played as well, and neither
- 5:56Speaker 2: is Landon Dickerson, who I know is unfortunately his body
- 6:00Speaker 2: may be falling apart. Land In Dickerson. In fact, I
- 6:03Speaker 2: feel for him when he's forty five years old. He
- 6:05Speaker 2: may be one of those guys that can't get out
- 6:06Speaker 2: of bed, you know, I feel. But I mean you
- 6:09Speaker 2: mean when he's my age, Well there you go. But
- 6:15Speaker 2: so those two guys, Jurgen's the center and Dickerson the
- 6:18Speaker 2: left guard. To me studying tape, you know, without charting
- 6:21Speaker 2: every single play, obviously, I just don't think those two
- 6:24Speaker 2: guys have performed at the same level.
- 6:26Speaker 1: Hey, fall is planting season. Did you know that many

- 8:59Speaker 3: So my question is about Killey Ringo so I know
- 9:03Speaker 3: Vic talked today and you could see it on the
- 9:05Speaker 3: TV copy itself looked like he kind of struggled in
- 9:08Speaker 3: open space in regards to tackling, but in regards to coverage,
- 9:11Speaker 3: which I'm sure everybody had. You know, right, there are
- 9:14Speaker 3: reservations on I wanted to get your thoughts because again,
- 9:16Speaker 3: they didn't really it was more or less the Quinny
- 9:18Speaker 3: on Mitchell show. It felt like Tampa Bay kind of
- 9:21Speaker 3: targeted him bizarrely a little bit more than Killy, and
- 9:24Speaker 3: just wanted to get your thoughts on how he played.
- 9:27Speaker 2: I was truly surprised. Frank, we talked about this last night,
- 9:31Speaker 2: Jeff Adam and I that they didn't really target him
- 9:34Speaker 2: much at all, and I got to tell you, I
- 9:37Speaker 2: was surprised by that. So, you know, again, I watched
- 9:40Speaker 2: him on pretty much every play, and there were a
- 9:42Speaker 2: lot of plays where he was kind of a non factory.
- 9:45Speaker 2: You know, he didn't really need to do anything. He
- 9:47Speaker 2: certainly didn't get beat over the top. He really didn't
- 9:50Speaker 2: get beat badly in the game. So there was no
- 9:52Speaker 2: play where you went, ooh, that's really bad. So obviously
- 9:55Speaker 2: the cornerback coach for the Eagles, because they have a
- 9:58Speaker 2: cornerback coach in the safety's coach is obviously charting every
- 10:01Speaker 2: play and going over what he did well and what
- 10:04Speaker 2: in their mind he didn't do well. But I don't
- 10:06Speaker 2: you know, he certainly didn't hurt the Eagles defense.
- 10:09Speaker 1: You're all around in tier offensive line play. How do
- 10:12Speaker 1: we look this week, sir?
- 10:16Speaker 2: About the same? Not very good overall, not very good.
- 10:19Speaker 2: It's not been good. So you know, I mentioned I
- 10:22Speaker 2: might have mentioned the stat last week, but but Barkley
- 10:25Speaker 2: is near the bottom of the league and that he's
- 10:27Speaker 2: only gaining one point eighty seven yards on average before
- 10:31Speaker 2: first contact, so he's not getting past the first level
- 10:33Speaker 2: of the defense. And say what you want. You know,
- 10:37Speaker 2: there are times he could do better, but it's not
- 10:40Speaker 2: really his fault per se. They're just the blocking is
- 10:43Speaker 2: not there, you know, believe it or not. The guy
- 10:45Speaker 2: who's worst is McCaffrey. McCaffrey, it's one point five to
- 10:48Speaker 2: seven and he's you know, they're not running the ball
- 10:50Speaker 2: well at all either. So it's it's been a problem.
- 10:54Speaker 2: It's been a problem with the blocking upfront, and it's
- 10:57Speaker 2: going to need to get better because ultimately, look, they're
- 11:01Speaker 2: four and oh and it's you know, they're winning games,
- 11:04Speaker 2: but offensively they're you know, I spoke to someone in
- 11:07Speaker 2: the building this week and we were saying that, you know,
- 11:10Speaker 2: you're four and o without an offense. It's pretty remarkable.
- 11:13Speaker 2: I mean, how does that work? You're four and oh
- 11:15Speaker 2: and not being sarcastic, I mean right now they're not
- 11:18Speaker 2: running the ball and they're not I mean, Hurts is
- 11:20Speaker 2: averaging one hundred and thirty eight yards passing per game.
- 11:22Speaker 2: I mean, it's they He was oh for eight for
- 11:25Speaker 2: no yards in the second half this week. So just
- 11:27Speaker 2: think about that for Let that settle in for a minute.
- 11:30Speaker 6: I did want to ask about the linebackers. I thought
- 11:35Speaker 6: that I thought that they both played extremely well, so
- 11:39Speaker 6: I just kind of wanted to see what you thought
- 11:42Speaker 6: what you're seeing. I just feel like they're as Jahad grows,
- 11:46Speaker 6: I feel like they're gonna be really a really good tandem.
- 11:49Speaker 6: So that's kind of why.
- 11:51Speaker 2: Yeah, I agree with you. The thing that always stands
- 11:53Speaker 2: out when you watch their linebackers, and this is what
- 11:55Speaker 2: you want, is those guys are really athletic, and they
- 11:59Speaker 2: just the way they particularly Campbell. Campbell's even more athletic
- 12:02Speaker 2: than Bonn he's just, you know, close to being a
- 12:05Speaker 2: freakish type athlete. He's only going to get better and better.
- 12:08Speaker 2: And Bonn is just a really good football player. He
- 12:11Speaker 2: sees it, you know. Once you hear coaches talk about
- 12:14Speaker 2: a lot. Eddie with defense is particularly when you're off
- 12:17Speaker 2: the ball. Obviously it's different for d lineman, but if
- 12:20Speaker 2: you're an off the ball player, you just got to
- 12:22Speaker 2: see it the right way like Bond sees it. Macouba
- 12:26Speaker 2: just sees it fast. You got you got to be
- 12:28Speaker 2: able to see it fast because if you have to
- 12:30Speaker 2: think it through, then you're then you're late. And Bond
- 12:33Speaker 2: just sees it and he's he's just a really good
- 12:36Speaker 2: player in all areas.
- 12:38Speaker 1: All Right, everybody, thank you so much, Greg, thank you
- 12:40Speaker 1: very much, Scott, great question. Yeah, we'll do it again
- 12:44Speaker 1: next week.
- 12:45Speaker 2: Thank you, Thanks Jez, Thank care.
