- 0:00Speaker 1: Off the bench with Jacob Hester and Matt Flynn.
- 0:03Speaker 2: Let's go, baby, let's go.
- 0:04Speaker 1: From a championship backfield to your morning drive. Hands to Hester,
- 0:08Speaker 1: and Hester, yep, got it, five out of five. You're
- 0:12Speaker 1: locked in to Off the Bench.
- 0:13Speaker 3: Flynn is back to throw for the end zone ball.
- 0:18Speaker 1: Live from the Raising Cane Studio, here's Jacob Hester and
- 0:23Speaker 1: Matt Flynn.
- 0:40Speaker 4: What was that?
- 0:46Speaker 5: I don't know what happened.
- 0:49Speaker 6: This is a Tuesday, too.
- 0:49Speaker 5: Don't screw up Tuesday.
- 0:50Speaker 1: I'm sorry, guys.
- 0:59Speaker 5: That's on me.
- 1:00Speaker 2: Jake's yo is a little soft. Well, I can only
- 1:02Speaker 2: hear myself in one ear.
- 1:03Speaker 7: I was like thinking about your headphones and then you
- 1:07Speaker 7: yo'd and then I skipped you for some reason.
- 1:10Speaker 5: And so I was like, and then I skipped you
- 1:12Speaker 5: again on the howl. It's not going well.
- 1:15Speaker 2: It's because we didn't break our neck.
- 1:17Speaker 1: I'm overexposing.
- 1:17Speaker 2: We didn't break our neck this morning. Mine was like
- 1:18Speaker 2: a question how, because I was questioning Alondra not yo-ing. Like, how?
- 1:22Speaker 2: Are you leaving?
- 1:24Speaker 7: Because then I jumped your yo, so then I stopped,
- 1:28Speaker 7: and then I tried to yo again.
- 1:29Speaker 2: It just, no. Hey, it's still the preseason, guys.
- 1:31Speaker 6: I was just thinking, like, is Alondra trying to tell
- 1:34Speaker 6: us she's leaving the Wolfpack right now?
- 1:36Speaker 5: Ooh, what if that's how I told y'all?
- 1:38Speaker 2: You're freaking. Just didn't yo. I just didn't yo. Respect.
- 1:41Speaker 5: If I ever don't yo, just know.
- 1:43Speaker 2: Just know.
- 1:44Speaker 4: I'm leaving.
- 1:46Speaker 6: I fear confrontation, so I'm not going to tell y'all,
- 1:48Speaker 6: but there will be signs. Alondra definitely does not fear confrontation.
- 1:52Speaker 1: I was straight.
- 1:52Speaker 5: I'll just tell y'all. Guys, it's not working out anymore.
- 1:55Speaker 2: Nah, she fears confrontation. Yeah, for sure. Hates it. Nope.
- 2:00Speaker 2: Not at all.
- 2:00Speaker 5: I've been told I'm very non-confrontational.
- 2:02Speaker 2: Nobody's ever told you that. Said nobody ever. Not one person.
- 2:08Speaker 2: It's okay. One of the things I really like about you, Alondra. Hello. Hey,
- 2:13Speaker 2: good morning.
- 2:14Speaker 5: Sorry for messing that up, guys.
- 2:15Speaker 2: Despite the yo's, it's a great day because it's Tuesday.
- 2:18Speaker 7: Tuesday.
- 2:19Speaker 2: First Tuesday of the season.
- 2:21Speaker 5: Four's up. Oh, first Tuesday of the season for real.
- 2:26Speaker 2: First Tuesday of the season. How fun is that?
- 2:28Speaker 5: So much fun.
- 2:29Speaker 2: The most. The most fun. Because what did we say yesterday?
- 2:34Speaker 2: How do we put it? Ball will soon meet T.
- 2:40Speaker 2: Ball will be placed on T. Ball will be placed
- 2:42Speaker 2: on T by a referee. And then it'll be adjusted
- 2:45Speaker 2: by the kicker.
- 2:46Speaker 5: Whistle will be blown.
- 2:48Speaker 2: And the kicker's going to get it. He's going to
- 2:50Speaker 2: squish it on the ground a couple times. Push it
- 2:53Speaker 2: on the ground like give it CPR. Yeah, like what
- 2:55Speaker 2: are you doing? Give it CPR. Kick the ball, kicker.
- 2:59Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 3:00Speaker 5: Put the boot to the ball.
- 3:01Speaker 2: Get your boot and put it on that ball. That's
- 3:07Speaker 2: this weekend. That's fun.
- 3:09Speaker 6: That's this weekend. It can't come fast enough. My God.
- 3:14Speaker 2: What do you mean by that, bud? Let's get past
- 3:17Speaker 2: all the dumb parts of college football and let's just
- 3:20Speaker 2: get to the games. That's what we're trying to do.
- 3:23Speaker 2: We're trying so hard. People aren't making it easy.
- 3:27Speaker 5: What if we just stop talking about it?
- 3:29Speaker 2: I mean, we have pretty much. We didn't talk about
- 3:33Speaker 2: it like the last couple of shows, and there's been
- 3:34Speaker 2: a lot of news that happened, and we haven't talked
- 3:37Speaker 2: about it.
- 3:37Speaker 7: Because it's not really anything new, I feel like.
- 3:39Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, nothing's really new.
- 3:40Speaker 2: It's just the same song and dance. My God, it
- 3:43Speaker 2: will be covered.
- 3:43Speaker 5: They're playing a game of chicken. It's just like.
- 3:46Speaker 6: You guys shuffle, and then you're in the same hole.
- 3:48Speaker 6: You just keep digging.
- 3:49Speaker 2: A little deeper. It's the same commentary. Yeah, we were
- 3:55Speaker 2: at a.
- 3:56Speaker 3: JV game last night, and people kept asking questions. about it,
- 3:59Speaker 3: and I was just like, we kick off this weekend.
- 4:02Speaker 3: They ask again, I'm like, hey, we kick off this weekend. Like,
- 4:05Speaker 3: I just, like, not even, like, out in the wild.
- 4:07Speaker 2: I just don't want to. It is what it is.
- 4:09Speaker 5: You mentioned it to me, and I was like, I
- 4:11Speaker 5: don't care.
- 4:11Speaker 2: You can't just say it is what it is. No,
- 4:12Speaker 2: I'm talking about, like, right now, what are we going
- 4:14Speaker 2: to do about it? It's been reported. What are we
- 4:17Speaker 2: going to do about the result of the game? But
- 4:19Speaker 2: we talk about it. You think that's the same? Like,
- 4:22Speaker 2: what are we going to? Okay, go ahead. Floor's yours.
- 4:25Speaker 2: Talk about it. Go. College football stinks. Okay, what else?
- 4:29Speaker 2: Did we say that the last three weeks? Yeah. I did.
- 4:33Speaker 2: So add on to that. Talk about it. You're just
- 4:37Speaker 2: one of them sheeple.
- 4:39Speaker 1: Hey.
- 4:39Speaker 2: Hey, coming out hot. That's what I'm saying. It is
- 4:45Speaker 2: what it is.
- 4:46Speaker 3: Until Thursday, we'll see something new happens on Thursday. Are
- 4:50Speaker 3: they going to play or are they not going to play?
- 4:55Speaker 5: I guess Jack Pyburn isn't.
- 4:57Speaker 2: No, because he's a pro player.
- 4:58Speaker 3: Because he got an NFL contract, just like I tried
- 5:01Speaker 3: to tell some people that came up in here saying, bruh,
- 5:04Speaker 3: that he was going to make a team.
- 5:07Speaker 4: Well, Matt, me and you talked about it yesterday when
- 5:09Speaker 4: Jake was out. It's like, he led the preseason in sex.
- 5:12Speaker 4: How is another team not going to pick him up?
- 5:14Speaker 2: Or why would he not try, like, everything he could?
- 5:18Speaker 3: He's about to make $ 890, 000. $ 885, 000 is the rookie minimum.
- 5:20Speaker 3: With his former teammate. And, like, he wasn't going to
- 5:22Speaker 3: make $ 885, 000 at LSU.
- 5:22Speaker 2: I hope not. No, there wasn't $ 8. 85 in the budget
- 5:31Speaker 2: left over. Sure there is. But even if he was, though, Tay-Tay,
- 5:37Speaker 2: even if he was.
- 5:38Speaker 5: I mean, just bet.
- 5:39Speaker 2: No.
- 5:40Speaker 5: You're going to.
- 5:40Speaker 2: Go make it. Because if he makes.
- 5:45Speaker 3: That in the NFL, it's going to be much better
- 5:47Speaker 3: than starting over again if he made it in college.
- 5:50Speaker 4: Well, Matt brought up, which I appreciated the player perspective.
- 5:52Speaker 4: Matt was like, this is one more year until his pensions. Like,
- 5:56Speaker 4: this counts as a year. Why would you not stay?
- 5:58Speaker 2: Even if you made less money, you would still go
- 6:00Speaker 2: to the NFL.
- 6:01Speaker 7: Yes.
- 6:04Speaker 2: Pension's a hell of a thing.
- 6:06Speaker 3: Oh, no, it is, but I'm just saying, too, like,
- 6:09Speaker 3: if he went back to college, then he wouldn't be
- 6:11Speaker 3: able to go back into the draft, and then he'd
- 6:13Speaker 3: be another undrafted free agent, and then start back over again. Like,
- 6:18Speaker 3: he built some equity up in the preseason. By leading
- 6:21Speaker 3: the NFL in sacks.
- 6:22Speaker 6: In three games, he doubled his sack amount in the
- 6:25Speaker 6: NFL that he had at LSU.
- 6:27Speaker 2: Yes. So, yeah. Of course he went to the NFL.
- 6:33Speaker 2: Because he was in the NFL. Playing really well. You're
- 6:36Speaker 2: going to stay there if they give you the opportunity.
- 6:37Speaker 2: Because it is superior football. Yes. You did this. What?
- 6:44Speaker 2: Starting a show like this. What? Yeah, I know. You
- 6:47Speaker 2: did it. I was just hedging my bet.
- 6:50Speaker 7: That's what they should have done for Jack Pyburn. Just
- 6:52Speaker 7: hedge it on Kalshi. Hedge his contract.
- 6:56Speaker 5: Is that real or did I get unked too?
- 6:57Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 6:57Speaker 3: Yeah, did y'all get unked? Because I never did some
- 6:59Speaker 3: research on that. I never did research, obviously.
- 7:03Speaker 2: Well, you sent it in the group. Let's see. Let's
- 7:05Speaker 2: see who. No, we don't. Live research it.
- 7:08Speaker 7: Sure.
- 7:09Speaker 4: Hand up. I was reading it while walking and I
- 7:12Speaker 4: read it and I was like, I don't know what
- 7:13Speaker 4: that means. So I just put it up. I didn't
- 7:15Speaker 4: look into it.
- 7:19Speaker 5: Well, that doesn't help.
- 7:20Speaker 2: It doesn't help at all, Taylor. I'm sorry, man.
- 7:23Speaker 6: Alondra found my cord yesterday.
- 7:31Speaker 5: I did find the cord.
- 7:32Speaker 3: Yep.
- 7:32Speaker 6: So I don't know if I told the listeners, but
- 7:34Speaker 6: I lost the cord. It's very important to my life.
- 7:39Speaker 6: It connects my computer to the screen over here. And
- 7:42Speaker 6: I can't do radio. That's why I mispronounced a few
- 7:45Speaker 6: words yesterday.
- 7:46Speaker 5: That's why.
- 7:46Speaker 2: Because I didn't have my second screen. The laundry founder.
- 7:51Speaker 7: Well, when we were in here yesterday, you were like,
- 7:54Speaker 7: my cord. And I was like, well, we got a
- 7:56Speaker 7: bunch of cords.
- 7:57Speaker 5: You're like, my cord.
- 7:58Speaker 2: My cord.
- 7:58Speaker 7: I was like, well, we got a bunch of cords.
- 8:00Speaker 7: I'm sure I can find you another C2C cord. And
- 8:03Speaker 7: you go, no, this cord was different.
- 8:06Speaker 5: This cord was built different. Okay, I guess. And then
- 8:10Speaker 5: I go to my office sitting on the chair.
- 8:12Speaker 2: Yep. Take me eyes, but not me cord. We found it.
- 8:17Speaker 4: I mean, how could you... Be expected to do a
- 8:19Speaker 4: show with one laptop screen.
- 8:20Speaker 2: Honestly, I couldn't be expected to.
- 8:25Speaker 6: Hey, I just told Jake, remember, if I'm leaving at
- 8:28Speaker 6: 9 today.
- 8:29Speaker 2: Oh, yeah. Huck's got a first big tackle football pep rally.
- 8:33Speaker 2: Let's go. This morning.
- 8:34Speaker 4: Dude, we are never all going to be together for
- 8:36Speaker 4: a full week.
- 8:37Speaker 2: We were last week. I mean, so you got to
- 8:40Speaker 2: go to.
- 8:40Speaker 5: We were all here last week.
- 8:42Speaker 4: He left early one day.
- 8:43Speaker 2: Had to go do the 18. And then he changed
- 8:45Speaker 2: the tire yesterday.
- 8:46Speaker 5: I mean, it's one hour.
- 8:49Speaker 2: Let me tell you something.
- 8:50Speaker 3: My right shoulder is on fire today. Yeah?
- 8:53Speaker 2: Yeah. From doing the lug nuts. Whoever put them son
- 8:56Speaker 2: of a guns on. Strong.
- 8:58Speaker 4: They put them on. It was probably the dealership, and
- 9:00Speaker 4: they always strip it because they use that.
- 9:02Speaker 2: Well, he's a gun. Yeah, and they do it way
- 9:04Speaker 2: too much. I had these two guns, but I didn't
- 9:06Speaker 2: have a gun. You know what I mean?
- 9:08Speaker 6: So your boy's shoulder, down and out. It was hotter
- 9:13Speaker 6: than hell out there, too. What was tougher, changing that
- 9:20Speaker 6: tire or moving the Flynn's furniture?
- 9:23Speaker 2: Tire. For sure? I wasn't sore after the Flynn furniture.
- 9:28Speaker 2: Sometimes when you're getting those lug nuts, you got to
- 9:31Speaker 2: stomp on them. No, that's what quarterbacks do. Don't do that.
- 9:36Speaker 2: Be smart? Yep. No, I mean.
- 9:38Speaker 4: Save time dude sometimes there's sometimes there's dealerships they put
- 9:42Speaker 4: them on too much like i was standing on my
- 9:44Speaker 4: sister's one time like standing one tire iron jumping up
- 9:47Speaker 4: and down to get it off and it wouldn't i.
- 9:50Speaker 3: Got that donut on there though there we go yeah
- 9:52Speaker 3: and when got a new tire replace the donut we
- 9:55Speaker 3: got it figured out it didn't get towed? No, I
- 9:58Speaker 3: put a really nice sign in the front window like
- 10:01Speaker 3: I told you. Hey, I kind of work for LSU
- 10:04Speaker 3: somewhat on the weekends.
- 10:05Speaker 2: Did you put kind of? I'd really like it for
- 10:07Speaker 2: you not to tow this vehicle.
- 10:09Speaker 3: It's a U-High student. You can see it on the sticker.
- 10:12Speaker 3: Here's my media badge to prove it.
- 10:14Speaker 2: Yep. You didn't even sign your name. You just put
- 10:16Speaker 2: number 18? Yep. One eight. No, it's spelled out one eight.
- 10:20Speaker 7: 1A.
- 10:22Speaker 2: You put 3, 1A, but like big letters, 1A. And
- 10:26Speaker 2: it was kind of in a spot where it was
- 10:27Speaker 2: kind of hidden a little bit-ish. So they didn't read
- 10:33Speaker 2: the letter. They just didn't get over there. Probably.
- 10:35Speaker 3: And I just parked my truck in front of it,
- 10:38Speaker 3: and all these people are looking at me like, what's
- 10:40Speaker 3: this old guy doing?
- 10:41Speaker 2: Because all the kids are like 12 now that go
- 10:44Speaker 2: to college. Send them off for the help. Yes. Hey,
- 10:50Speaker 2: what's that old man doing over there changing that tire?
- 10:52Speaker 2: Not a one. Why is he cursing? They probably have
- 10:55Speaker 2: zero idea how to change the tire.
- 10:56Speaker 4: No.
- 10:57Speaker 7: But, you know, I will say something restored my faith
- 11:01Speaker 7: in the youths yesterday. I went to the gas station
- 11:05Speaker 7: and I get my car and there's a unhoused man
- 11:10Speaker 7: outside of the gas station. And there's like a group
- 11:14Speaker 7: of they look like young college kids. There's a group
- 11:16Speaker 7: of them. And I was already in my car. And
- 11:18Speaker 7: they get out, and they're talking to him, like, asking
- 11:22Speaker 7: if he needs anything, whatever.
- 11:23Speaker 5: And then one of them was like, can I pray
- 11:25Speaker 5: for you?
- 11:26Speaker 7: And they all gathered around him and prayed for the
- 11:29Speaker 7: homeless man.
- 11:30Speaker 5: And I was like, it really tugged at the heartstrings.
- 11:33Speaker 2: Oh, that's beautiful.
- 11:33Speaker 7: I said my own little prayer in the car because, like,
- 11:35Speaker 7: I don't know. It just made me, like, very emotional
- 11:37Speaker 7: to see that.
- 11:37Speaker 2: Oh, that's beautiful.
- 11:38Speaker 7: And it restored my faith in, like, college kids because
- 11:40Speaker 7: I feel like they're all kind of crazy now.
- 11:42Speaker 4: I bet they prayed for him at my house.
- 11:45Speaker 2: Kind of.
- 11:45Speaker 4: I mean, it's a logical choice.
- 11:49Speaker 2: I love that. That's great.
- 11:51Speaker 6: That's a good morning starter right there.
- 11:54Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 11:54Speaker 5: Murphy, Sam, and Jody are bringing that.
- 11:55Speaker 3: That is.
- 11:56Speaker 2: A little tug at the heartstrings, make you feel good.
- 11:58Speaker 5: It really tugged at my heartstrings. And I'm not somebody
- 12:02Speaker 5: whose heartstrings get tugged.
- 12:04Speaker 2: That's a good reminder for everybody out there just to,
- 12:06Speaker 2: you know.
- 12:06Speaker 5: Be nice.
- 12:07Speaker 2: To pray.
- 12:07Speaker 5: Yeah, pray, be nice. Eat, pray, love.
- 12:11Speaker 3: Amen.
- 12:15Speaker 2: Eat, pray, love. All those things are really good.
- 12:18Speaker 3: That's a movie.
- 12:19Speaker 2: Yeah, Julia Roberts? Is it?
- 12:20Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 12:20Speaker 2: That's right. That's right. Hold on. I feel like, have
- 12:23Speaker 2: I heard this, but it's not Live Life Love. You
- 12:25Speaker 2: looked like I made that up. He thought you were
- 12:28Speaker 2: making a Hobby Lobby song. Yeah, he did. Yeah, I did.
- 12:30Speaker 5: No, that's a movie. Well, it's a book.
- 12:32Speaker 4: That's like, I've seen that on a shirt before.
- 12:38Speaker 2: Well, all right. We'll start. We'll start. Still one ear
- 12:46Speaker 2: over here. Why don't you get new headphones? I'm going to. No,
- 12:51Speaker 2: you're not.
- 12:51Speaker 3: I had to help people move over last weekend. It
- 12:54Speaker 3: would be a nice stocking stuffer.
- 12:55Speaker 2: For you this year. It would be nice.
- 13:00Speaker 6: Yeah, you should just get some new ones because you
- 13:02Speaker 6: complain about them every day. So you complain about a
- 13:05Speaker 6: lot of stuff every day.
- 13:06Speaker 2: That's a good point. It's therapeutic for me. Me too.
- 13:09Speaker 1: Okay.
- 13:10Speaker 2: Well, it's not therapeutic. They worked yesterday. They don't work today.
- 13:15Speaker 2: I blame Hunt. Did you say you had a JV
- 13:19Speaker 2: game yesterday? Yeah. Okay. Against Dunham. Did you really? The
- 13:25Speaker 2: school that your children go to. I got to be
- 13:27Speaker 2: honest with you. Hand in the air. Dunham looked good, too.
- 13:30Speaker 3: I didn't even know they had a JV team. They probably, like,
- 13:34Speaker 3: you hide. They don't have a freshman team. We only
- 13:36Speaker 3: have a JV. We don't have enough kids for a
- 13:38Speaker 3: freshman team. Well, obviously, I knew the high school team.
- 13:39Speaker 3: Which I wish they did so the freshmen could get it.
- 13:41Speaker 3: There's a lot of young kids at Dunham that play
- 13:43Speaker 3: on the varsity team. So, I honestly didn't even know
- 13:45Speaker 3: they had a JV team.
- 13:46Speaker 2: Sure, it's like. You know, like rotating twos, probably play
- 13:50Speaker 2: JV to get reps. I guess so. Yeah, because I
- 13:52Speaker 2: know they got two. Quarterback can spin it. I don't
- 13:54Speaker 2: know who he was, but he can spin it. He
- 13:58Speaker 2: definitely didn't work with you.
- 14:00Speaker 6: That guy's got quarterbacks at all the levels, dude. Seventh
- 14:03Speaker 6: and eighth grade, they got it as well. So they
- 14:05Speaker 6: got a fifth and sixth grade middle school team. They
- 14:07Speaker 6: got seventh and eighth. Shout out to Dunham fifth and
- 14:12Speaker 6: sixth grade team.
- 14:13Speaker 2: Took the field for the first time yesterday. Oh, yeah.
- 14:15Speaker 2: How'd that go? We lost.
- 14:18Speaker 3: But.
- 14:18Speaker 2: But. Good tries?
- 14:20Speaker 6: A lot of good tries. Now, let me say, I
- 14:23Speaker 6: was very proud of the boys. They put the pads on.
- 14:25Speaker 6: They strapped that. They put on a game uniform for
- 14:27Speaker 6: the first time. We're mostly fifth. I would say probably
- 14:30Speaker 6: 80% of the team's fifth graders on our team.
- 14:34Speaker 2: Played St. George. The Dragons, who came out with a victory. Congratulations.
- 14:38Speaker 2: But how could you not with a name like Dragon?
- 14:39Speaker 2: You know what I mean? I knew you'd like that.
- 14:41Speaker 2: I was surprised your kids didn't go there.
- 14:42Speaker 6: But it was, they went out there, and after the game,
- 14:46Speaker 6: didn't see any, like, Tears, sad faces, smiles.
- 14:52Speaker 2: It was good. You just never know. Because the temperatures outside,
- 14:57Speaker 2: they didn't have a lot of practices where they could
- 14:59Speaker 2: go and hit because they followed the heat rules.
- 15:01Speaker 6: There wasn't a lot of full padded practices that they had.
- 15:04Speaker 6: It was the first year playing tackle. You get it.
- 15:08Speaker 6: A little bit, you know, some belly bumping out there,
- 15:12Speaker 6: things like that.
- 15:12Speaker 2: But it was fun. What's my man Huck playing? Belly bumping?
- 15:18Speaker 2: That's a thing. What? What's Huck playing? Oh, left tackle.
- 15:22Speaker 2: Holding it down. Oh, yeah, he is.
- 15:23Speaker 4: Got that blindside money. Yeah, it's a lefty quarterback. Frontside.
- 15:29Speaker 2: Some say that's even more important. There's headhunting out there.
- 15:37Speaker 5: Pikachu, honey.
- 15:38Speaker 2: What do they.
- 15:40Speaker 4: Call it when you're looking for it?
- 15:41Speaker 1: Pikachu?
- 15:43Speaker 2: Pikachu? Yeah, but like if you're looking for it.
- 15:46Speaker 4: Okay, chew.
- 15:49Speaker 2: Like a foo man. All right, we'll take a break.
- 15:56Speaker 3: More OTV when we come back here live from the
- 15:58Speaker 3: Raising Cane Studio.
- 16:00Speaker 1: Off the bench.
- 16:01Speaker 5: Everybody needs a roof.
- 16:03Speaker 2: Yeah, they do.
- 16:04Speaker 3: And they need to go to pelicanroof.com. Website for Pelican Roofing.
- 16:08Speaker 3: Five stars all over the place. Over 600 of those
- 16:11Speaker 3: five-star reviews right there on the homepage at pelicanroof.com.
- 16:15Speaker 2: And again, those come in organically.
- 16:16Speaker 3: They're not cherry-picked, and so you see actual results and
- 16:20Speaker 3: actual ratings there. If you need a roof repair, a
- 16:23Speaker 3: roof replacement at your home, at your business, they are
- 16:26Speaker 3: the person to call. Now, if you're just wondering, you
- 16:29Speaker 3: want a consultation, you want to check on your roof,
- 16:31Speaker 3: that's free. They don't say anything wrong. They say, you're good,
- 16:34Speaker 3: and they leave. If you do need something, obviously you
- 16:37Speaker 3: get a plan together, but they're not trying to trick you.
- 16:39Speaker 3: They're not trying to fool you. They are just trying
- 16:41Speaker 3: to make sure that you get taken care of, and
- 16:42Speaker 3: they're always going to take care of you over at
- 16:44Speaker 3: Pelican Roofing.
- 16:45Speaker 2: So at Pelican Roofing, they treat customers, they treat you
- 16:48Speaker 2: the right way. What does that mean?
- 16:50Speaker 6: Like Jake just said, they're going to give you consultation
- 16:52Speaker 6: and be honest with you. Honesty in business. All businesses,
- 16:56Speaker 6: the most important, and in the roofing industry, as important.
- 17:00Speaker 6: So they're going to say, hey, man, if you don't
- 17:02Speaker 6: need a new roof, they're not going to do it.
- 17:03Speaker 6: But if you do, they are the best in the business. PelicanRoof.com. PelicanRoof.com.
- 17:21Speaker 1: Tigers turn talkers. This is Off the Bench.
- 17:31Speaker 2: Thank you. All right, welcome back in.
- 17:53Speaker 3: OTB here live from the Raising Cane Studio. Our Tuesday
- 17:57Speaker 3: show is brought to you by our friends over at
- 17:58Speaker 3: Community Steel. CommunitySteelCo.com is the website right there in Gonzales, Louisiana.
- 18:04Speaker 2: Buildings, sheeting, components, CommunitySteelCo.com. We'll check it out today.
- 18:08Speaker 3: All right, so a bunch of people had it yesterday,
- 18:15Speaker 3: but obviously I've been following our guy, Ross Dellinger, pretty
- 18:18Speaker 3: close with all the stuff going on with LSU and
- 18:20Speaker 3: the SEC. He joined us on Friday to talk about
- 18:24Speaker 3: a separate issue, and now here is a new one.
- 18:27Speaker 3: And he put it out there yesterday, of course, that
- 18:29Speaker 3: SEC school executives are exploring extreme measures in order to
- 18:33Speaker 3: address LSU's attempts to add former professional players.
- 18:38Speaker 2: Potential measures could include.
- 18:40Speaker 3: Boycotting competition, sanctioning the school with probation, or saying, holler
- 18:47Speaker 3: at your boy. Kicking them out of the SEC, which
- 18:50Speaker 3: I don't think it's going to get to that. So
- 18:52Speaker 3: the SEC is digging its heels in, at least it
- 18:56Speaker 3: looks like on paper. Now, I don't know Commissioner Sankey
- 19:00Speaker 3: to be someone that backs down. I don't know him
- 19:02Speaker 3: to be somebody that's just going to go away with this.
- 19:05Speaker 3: I know sometimes the NCAA, most of the time, the
- 19:07Speaker 3: NCAA threatens, but they don't do anything. But I do
- 19:10Speaker 3: feel like Commissioner Sankey is a different beast. So now
- 19:16Speaker 3: we've got an old standoff. And I'm not sure how
- 19:19Speaker 3: this is going to play out. I'm not sure who's
- 19:21Speaker 3: going to air quotes, when the winner or loser, whatever.
- 19:26Speaker 2: But I don't.
- 19:28Speaker 3: Think commissioner is saying he's going to forget about this either.
- 19:31Speaker 3: That's the other part of it.
- 19:33Speaker 2: Yeah. I don't think there's outside of LSU fans.
- 19:40Speaker 6: I don't think there's a, a win situation for LSU
- 19:44Speaker 6: in this standoff. If that's what you want to call it. Like,
- 19:48Speaker 6: if you win the court case, you get a failed
- 19:52Speaker 6: NFL tight end and defensive lineman. You get more depth
- 19:57Speaker 6: at tight end and defensive line, but you had a
- 19:59Speaker 6: team before these guys. If you don't, guess air quote
- 20:08Speaker 6: like when then you don't get those players so like
- 20:10Speaker 6: i don't know what the if i hate that it's
- 20:13Speaker 6: dragged on this long and i hate that it's week
- 20:17Speaker 6: one going into the first clemson game something we've been
- 20:20Speaker 6: so excited about um and looking forward to for so
- 20:23Speaker 6: long and we're dealing with this bs like that's this
- 20:27Speaker 6: is this is what i'm frustrated about mostly is um
- 20:31Speaker 6: I don't want to be dealing with this. It's not
- 20:33Speaker 6: worth it to bring these players, like to deal with
- 20:35Speaker 6: all this stuff. Wait till Thursday to finalize your roster
- 20:37Speaker 6: or Friday to finalize your roster.
- 20:39Speaker 2: Before week one.
- 20:42Speaker 6: It's it's frustrating. I think, I think it's frustrating for everybody.
- 20:45Speaker 6: I would, I would assume it's frustrating whether you're, what's
- 20:47Speaker 6: your opinion on it is I get it, how everybody's
- 20:50Speaker 6: going to have a different opinion, like whatever it takes,
- 20:52Speaker 6: you know, embrace the villain, whatever it takes, like get
- 20:55Speaker 6: your roster better, be on the cutting edge, Gain the
- 20:58Speaker 6: competitive advantage if they let you do it. I get
- 21:00Speaker 6: all that. I understand every point of view on this.
- 21:03Speaker 6: I don't quite have that same point of view. I'm
- 21:05Speaker 6: somewhere probably in the middle. I can see both sides
- 21:09Speaker 6: of everything on this. I just don't know how LSU
- 21:17Speaker 6: wins a standoff with the SEC. I feel like Sankey's
- 21:21Speaker 6: about that action. And it's 15 against one, and it's
- 21:27Speaker 6: the entire country versus LSU. Well, that too, but just specifically.
- 21:32Speaker 6: They thought enough about this. Even though LSU's not alone
- 21:35Speaker 6: in this situation. It's certainly the spirit of this thing.
- 21:39Speaker 6: They're not alone.
- 21:40Speaker 2: But then the vote's 15 to nada, and you didn't vote. Yeah.
- 21:45Speaker 2: You know?
- 21:47Speaker 6: It's not a great look, and I'm going to be
- 21:49Speaker 6: real upset if LSU gets kicked.
- 21:50Speaker 2: Out of the SEC.
- 21:51Speaker 7: You say, like, get it by any means, make your
- 21:53Speaker 7: roster better however you need to, whatever. But, like, how
- 21:56Speaker 7: much better do those two players actually make your roster?
- 22:00Speaker 5: Like, is it worth the trouble.
- 22:01Speaker 7: Of going what you're going through right now? And, like,
- 22:04Speaker 7: I just feel like it's Lane Kiffin being a little stubborn.
- 22:07Speaker 7: It's Lane Kiffin being Lane Kiffin.
- 22:09Speaker 2: Nobody's worth the trouble.
- 22:10Speaker 1: Right.
- 22:10Speaker 4: It's an ego move now.
- 22:12Speaker 7: It's Lane Kiffin being Lane Kiffin right now is what's happening.
- 22:15Speaker 6: I was going to say, is the– There's no price
- 22:16Speaker 6: worth the price. No, there's nothing worth it. There's nothing
- 22:20Speaker 6: worth the price. Even if there's a 0.01% chance that
- 22:26Speaker 6: you get kicked out of the SEC.
- 22:28Speaker 2: Right. It's a chance.
- 22:30Speaker 6: It's not a 0% chance. Like, what are we doing?
- 22:33Speaker 6: What are we flirting with this for? Like, if you
- 22:36Speaker 6: push the envelope as far as you can, right?
- 22:40Speaker 2: And this is a area....
- 22:45Speaker 6: It's not a point of no return, but nobody knows
- 22:50Speaker 6: how far you can push the boundaries. Nobody knows. And
- 22:53Speaker 6: so Lane's pushing them. He's gaining that, like, I get it.
- 22:57Speaker 6: He was hired to win, win at all costs, whatever.
- 23:01Speaker 6: Is it worth it?
- 23:03Speaker 2: No.
- 23:03Speaker 6: As soon as you get resistance and as soon as
- 23:06Speaker 6: people say, all right, it's gone a little too far now.
- 23:10Speaker 6: Now we're getting together, the entire SEC, and there's a
- 23:12Speaker 6: chance– We're threatening that membership.
- 23:16Speaker 2: And it's like, okay, well, that's enough.
- 23:18Speaker 3: And I'm with you as far as, like, I can
- 23:21Speaker 3: see some of the reasons why they're like, hold up, well,
- 23:26Speaker 3: that happened at that school, and they were allowed to
- 23:29Speaker 3: come play. It's like, we want these players. Like, I
- 23:32Speaker 3: get all of that. I think the pro stuff does
- 23:34Speaker 3: muddy the water, to say the least. Like, that's the
- 23:36Speaker 3: thing that people, and look, we did. We talked about it.
- 23:39Speaker 3: because there's things that we learned when we were in
- 23:42Speaker 3: NFL meeting rooms that even before we played a game
- 23:45Speaker 3: that we felt like were a big advantage for us.
- 23:48Speaker 2: But at the end of the day, it's like, I
- 23:50Speaker 2: get what you're.
- 23:51Speaker 3: Saying about like, Hey, they did this at that school and.
- 23:54Speaker 2: He got an extra year, like kind of just because
- 23:57Speaker 2: I do get that.
- 23:57Speaker 6: All things aren't fair and all things aren't equal in life.
- 24:00Speaker 6: So if you want things to be fair, if you
- 24:02Speaker 6: think you're going to get treated like the same person,
- 24:04Speaker 6: like everybody else that like, life isn't fair i don't
- 24:08Speaker 6: care what basketball does i don't.
- 24:09Speaker 2: Care what goes back to bad luck i don't care
- 24:11Speaker 2: what soccer does i don't care what these other sports
- 24:14Speaker 2: do you know why because it's not football and football
- 24:17Speaker 2: really is all that matters if you want to tick
- 24:20Speaker 2: people off or make people happy that is really all
- 24:23Speaker 2: that matters you're gonna mess with somebody's stuff you can
- 24:25Speaker 2: mess with other things don't mess.
- 24:26Speaker 6: With football don't mess with football and this is and
- 24:29Speaker 6: and you can compare little like one-off cases here, there,
- 24:33Speaker 6: and certainly in basketball the last year or two. Like,
- 24:36Speaker 6: you can make these comparisons. Well, they didn't do it
- 24:38Speaker 6: for this, but they did do it for that. It
- 24:40Speaker 6: doesn't matter.
- 24:41Speaker 2: Don't mess with football. Don't mess with the prize cow.
- 24:45Speaker 2: The bell cow. The bell cow. Oh, the prize cow.
- 24:49Speaker 6: Well, I was thinking there's a prize something. There's a
- 24:51Speaker 6: prize something. There's another saying out there.
- 24:54Speaker 2: Don't mess with that.
- 24:56Speaker 5: Don't write checks your ass can't cash.
- 24:59Speaker 2: I like that, but you were so close.
- 25:01Speaker 5: I feel like that doesn't go with what this is
- 25:02Speaker 5: talking about.
- 25:03Speaker 2: I'm brand, though.
- 25:05Speaker 4: You were talking about Sanky being about that action. Yeah,
- 25:08Speaker 4: it's football, and that's why you make a brash statement
- 25:11Speaker 4: of we're going to kick him out of the SEC.
- 25:13Speaker 4: The SEC is not going to kick LSU out. They're
- 25:16Speaker 4: never going to do that.
- 25:17Speaker 2: There's a 0% chance? I think there is a 0% chance.
- 25:22Speaker 1: 0.000000?
- 25:22Speaker 2: What if he keeps pushing the boundaries or pushing the limits?
- 25:26Speaker 4: I just think that that's what Lane does when he
- 25:33Speaker 4: pushes the boundaries. But I just look at it like
- 25:35Speaker 4: if you kick out LSU, in all likelihood, you're going
- 25:37Speaker 4: to have to bring in an inferior program. And then
- 25:40Speaker 4: let's say LSU goes to someone like the Big Ten who,
- 25:43Speaker 4: let's be honest, you're already behind right now because they've
- 25:45Speaker 4: won the last three national titles. Like, does the SEC
- 25:48Speaker 4: really want to do that?
- 25:49Speaker 6: I mean, I don't think the SEC is, of course,
- 25:54Speaker 6: like I said, 0%. 0.01% is not 0%, though. And
- 26:00Speaker 6: if they got to that 0.01%, it would probably be
- 26:04Speaker 6: with a blessing of.
- 26:05Speaker 2: The other conferences.
- 26:06Speaker 3: Yes.
- 26:09Speaker 2: So you'd be sitting there scheduling Notre Dame eight times
- 26:12Speaker 2: a year. And UConn. And UConn. They're independent as well.
- 26:17Speaker 5: Would we get an automatic bid like Notre Dame?
- 26:19Speaker 6: That's true. That's true. Maybe that's what we're doing. Maybe
- 26:23Speaker 6: that's the chess play. We're all just thinking about checkers.
- 26:28Speaker 5: Maybe so.
- 26:29Speaker 3: But another portion of it is it's not– I mean,
- 26:32Speaker 3: I agree with you, football being the bell cow.
- 26:36Speaker 2: Prize cow. Nope.
- 26:37Speaker 3: That's just you saying that. But for LSU, they're in
- 26:41Speaker 3: the headlines for basketball as well. Like, they're the main
- 26:44Speaker 3: basketball school in this and the main football school in this.
- 26:47Speaker 6: Yeah. It's good to be first. But, like, do we
- 26:53Speaker 6: have to be first in everything? We just, like, let
- 26:56Speaker 6: someone else do it first and then we do it second?
- 27:01Speaker 2: At all things. Like, maybe just, like, one time, sit
- 27:07Speaker 2: one out.
- 27:10Speaker 4: I'm with you, though, about, like, it ain't worth all this.
- 27:13Speaker 6: Let somebody else take a tight end that got cut.
- 27:17Speaker 2: Let them do it first, and then we'll do this.
- 27:18Speaker 4: Dude, he was awesome in Lane's system last year, but, like,
- 27:20Speaker 4: if LSU fails to make the college football playoff at
- 27:23Speaker 4: the end of the season, I'm not going to be like,
- 27:24Speaker 4: damn it, if we just had Daquan right now.
- 27:26Speaker 2: We just had Daquan right now.
- 27:28Speaker 4: I don't see that being the case.
- 27:29Speaker 3: Like, this isn't a situation where if the ruling doesn't
- 27:32Speaker 3: go LSU's way, I don't see LSU, like, fighting tooth
- 27:34Speaker 3: and nail. Or I should say, I don't see them
- 27:38Speaker 3: trying to play the players and see what happens. Like,
- 27:43Speaker 3: I don't see that portion of it. I think if
- 27:45Speaker 3: there's a ruling on Thursday they can't play, then they
- 27:47Speaker 3: won't play. Like, I don't see it being a situation
- 27:50Speaker 3: like that. The ruling on Thursday is temporary as well. Like,
- 27:53Speaker 3: the real court case would be months, like, months away.
- 27:58Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 28:01Speaker 5: Probably in the middle of the college football day.
- 28:03Speaker 2: The point is, I think they're going to follow what
- 28:04Speaker 2: the courts say. Yeah. I mean, they don't have time
- 28:07Speaker 2: to fight it.
- 28:08Speaker 3: Either way, I think they're going to follow what the
- 28:11Speaker 3: courts say.
- 28:11Speaker 2: I mean, they don't have time to fight it. They
- 28:14Speaker 2: play a game the next day. Well, they're not going
- 28:17Speaker 2: to be in the courtroom fighting it. Their attorneys are.
- 28:21Speaker 2: What if they get deposed? Courts aren't open on that.
- 28:27Speaker 2: Here's my question. What happens?
- 28:28Speaker 6: Okay, here's a hypothetical question. Okay, so this is. Thursday
- 28:31Speaker 6: would be like a temporary ruling. The real court case,
- 28:35Speaker 6: months in advance. What happens if months in advance it
- 28:38Speaker 6: rules against.
- 28:41Speaker 2: LSU? Do they go back and give sanctions? I know
- 28:47Speaker 2: you asked that yesterday. Do they give the sanctions?
- 28:50Speaker 6: Because the threat is a coach will be suspended or
- 28:52Speaker 6: whatever for half a year. Do they go back and
- 28:54Speaker 6: rule like, okay, this is illegal, what he did, blah, blah, blah?
- 28:57Speaker 3: Yeah, we won the case, so we're going to enforce
- 28:59Speaker 3: what we said we were going to enforce.
- 29:00Speaker 2: Yeah, even though the season's already over. And then try
- 29:04Speaker 2: to parlay that into the next season. Boot will soon
- 29:11Speaker 2: meet ball.
- 29:11Speaker 4: Heck, I was for ball.
- 29:12Speaker 5: I can't wait for that boot to meet that ball.
- 29:14Speaker 2: That boot. Oh, all right. Such a tiny little shoe, too.
- 29:19Speaker 2: It's not even close to a boot.
- 29:20Speaker 5: Can you imagine Blake Groupie's tiny little shoe?
- 29:23Speaker 2: It's like T-Bob size.
- 29:25Speaker 5: Like way smaller.
- 29:26Speaker 2: It's like North Pole size.
- 29:27Speaker 5: It's going to be like Huck. Like Huck shoes.
- 29:30Speaker 2: I don't know. He's got to get some big feet.
- 29:33Speaker 4: I saw a video like literally yesterday. Somebody was making
- 29:36Speaker 4: fun of Blake Grimby, and he was signing autographs. And
- 29:38Speaker 4: I was like, he looks like a little kid signing autographs.
- 29:40Speaker 2: He got released, right?
- 29:44Speaker 4: But he just got picked up by somebody else.
- 29:45Speaker 5: By somebody else. The Jets, maybe?
- 29:47Speaker 2: The kicker shuffle, yeah.
- 29:49Speaker 5: I don't know. Somebody where it was, like, meaningful football.
- 29:52Speaker 4: Yeah, so the Colts had dropped him, and then the
- 29:54Speaker 4: Jets picked him up.
- 29:55Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 29:55Speaker 2: Aw, that's cute.
- 29:57Speaker 5: Hey, but means Cleveland practice squad.
- 29:59Speaker 2: Okay, bub.
- 30:00Speaker 4: All right, bub.
- 30:00Speaker 2: All right, bub. Say, bub. Cleveland's a good spot to be.
- 30:05Speaker 5: I mean, they got Shador.
- 30:06Speaker 2: Careers last a long time up there.
- 30:08Speaker 5: They got Deshaun Watson and Shador. Maybe Dylan Gabriel?
- 30:13Speaker 4: Yeah, they put him on IR, which I think that
- 30:15Speaker 4: was just a way to keep four quarterbacks because I
- 30:17Speaker 4: don't think he got hurt. And then they also kept
- 30:19Speaker 4: Talon Green.
- 30:21Speaker 2: It's a little odd. Daniel Basham said.
- 30:26Speaker 3: I bet they only used one penny to bronze T-Bob's
- 30:29Speaker 3: baby shoes.
- 30:32Speaker 5: One penny?
- 30:35Speaker 2: Little feet.
- 30:36Speaker 3: Yeah, and a lot of chats say you can't go
- 30:38Speaker 3: back and punish somebody after the fact.
- 30:41Speaker 2: Yes, normally. Who says what's normal about any of this anymore?
- 30:45Speaker 6: I think people are outside LSU. People are hating Lane
- 30:51Speaker 6: that much that they will try. I can't wait.
- 30:58Speaker 3: To see Lane put up 45 against Dabo.
- 31:03Speaker 2: After Dabo's fall down as he runs out of Tiger Stadium.
- 31:10Speaker 1: Ooh, I like it.
- 31:10Speaker 2: I like that. Dabo.
- 31:14Speaker 5: The Clemson fans should do that.
- 31:16Speaker 2: They should do that. It would be so amazing for them, too.
- 31:19Speaker 2: A dab? Dabo.
- 31:20Speaker 4: While storming the field after beating Weber State or something?
- 31:24Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah. Dabo.
- 31:27Speaker 7: Hey, Thibodeau wants us to move on to the game
- 31:30Speaker 7: happening this week.
- 31:31Speaker 2: Thank you, Thibodeau.
- 31:33Speaker 3: If anybody wants to move on to the game, it's OTB.
- 31:37Speaker 2: Believe you me. Unfortunately. I'm glad you said it. We
- 31:40Speaker 2: have to blast the court ruling Thursday.
- 31:45Speaker 5: What if we just ignore it?
- 31:47Speaker 2: We will.
- 31:48Speaker 6: Should we do that? Every time someone brings up a
- 31:51Speaker 6: court case, someone does a fart noise.
- 31:52Speaker 4: What are you talking about?
- 31:55Speaker 2: We'll get it loaded up. All right, we've got to
- 31:56Speaker 2: take a break. More OTB when we come back.
- 31:59Speaker 1: Off the bench.
- 32:00Speaker 3: All right, it is the Second Amendment Tax-Free Weekend at
- 32:02Speaker 3: Bowie Outfitters Friday through Sunday, September 4th, 5th, and 6th.
- 32:06Speaker 2: Firearms, ammo, suppressors, bows.
- 32:08Speaker 3: And hunting supplies are all completely tax-free, and Bowie is

- 32:15Speaker 3: is 100% tax-free. Plus, you can skip the lines, come
- 32:18Speaker 3: in now, and put any firearm suppressor or bow on
- 32:21Speaker 3: hold for tax-free weekend. And with sales throughout the store,
- 32:25Speaker 3: you can stack up some of the biggest savings of
- 32:27Speaker 3: the year.
- 32:29Speaker 2: Check them out right on Perkins Road.
- 32:30Speaker 3: There in Baton Rouge because 10% off is nice, but
- 32:33Speaker 3: keeping the government from taking that 10%, somehow that just
- 32:37Speaker 3: feels a whole lot better.
- 32:38Speaker 6: Yeah, you know that feeling you used to get as
- 32:39Speaker 6: a kid, child for you, Jacob, As a child, and
- 32:43Speaker 6: you go to Toys R Us or like KB Toys
- 32:46Speaker 6: in the mall, you go to that toy store, that
- 32:47Speaker 6: feeling you'd get, that's the feeling you get as an
- 32:50Speaker 6: adult going into Bowie Outfitters.
- 32:51Speaker 2: It's fantastic.
- 32:52Speaker 6: Get ready for hunting season and do it in style
- 32:54Speaker 6: and do it tax-free weekend, baby.
- 32:56Speaker 2: It's coming. Get your ammo. Get your hunting gear. BowieOutfitters.com.
- 33:10Speaker 7: Off the Bench with Jacob Hester and Matt Flynn, presented

- 33:49Speaker 2: Jake Flynn, Alondra Tete, all here with you.
- 33:53Speaker 3: Now, if we were doing this show in a couple
- 33:55Speaker 3: of days, we would not all be here with you

- 34:00Speaker 3: this Friday, coming back to Rouse's. Burbank and Lee will

- 34:16Speaker 3: what's the ticket. All of our favorite Friday segments will
- 34:19Speaker 3: be there. And again, they'll be at Rouse's. Rouse's.com is
- 34:22Speaker 3: the website. Find the location that is convenient for you.
- 34:25Speaker 3: And then check out the weekly specials at your weekly
- 34:28Speaker 3: special location right there at the top right corner.
- 34:30Speaker 2: Of the website. Rouse's.com. Can't wait. What are you slinging
- 34:41Speaker 2: at my eye, at Rouse's? Get all your tailgating. You
- 34:46Speaker 2: get to my eye. You get to my eye. Everybody
- 34:49Speaker 2: knows you ain't doing that.
- 34:50Speaker 5: I was about to say, are you doing that?
- 34:52Speaker 2: You get to my eye. Give me five bucks. You
- 34:53Speaker 2: get to my eye. You pay for my eye. You
- 34:56Speaker 2: pay for my eye. There you go. That's better. That
- 34:58Speaker 2: is more on brand for you. We're in a business, y'all.
- 35:01Speaker 3: Nobody said you were. But you acting like you were Oprah,
- 35:04Speaker 3: throwing it out into the crowd, we all.
- 35:05Speaker 2: Know that ain't the case.
- 35:06Speaker 5: It's false advertising.
- 35:07Speaker 7: It is.
- 35:10Speaker 2: But you could do that. See, but you didn't leave
- 35:14Speaker 2: with that. You got to lead with that next time.
- 35:17Speaker 2: Shout out Oprah. Sure. All right.
- 35:22Speaker 3: There is an actual game this weekend in Baton Rouge.
- 35:26Speaker 3: It is going to feature college game day. It is
- 35:28Speaker 3: going to be LSU versus Clemson. Now, Clemson is not
- 35:36Speaker 3: the same Clemson that they were for a long time.
- 35:40Speaker 3: Last year, I think we all thought they were going
- 35:42Speaker 3: to be really good, and they had a lot of
- 35:44Speaker 3: returning players.
- 35:45Speaker 2: They lost a lot to the NFL. It's more of
- 35:48Speaker 2: an unknown Clemson team at this point.
- 35:50Speaker 3: There's not a lot of players that you're going to
- 35:54Speaker 3: recognize because, again, they lost a ton, and they're not
- 35:57Speaker 3: a team that's going to do a heavy deep dive
- 35:59Speaker 3: into the transfer portal. It's just not who they are.
- 36:02Speaker 3: It's not who they've been. It's not who they're going
- 36:04Speaker 3: to be. Now, they've done a little more than they
- 36:06Speaker 3: have in the past, but again, I think it's probably
- 36:10Speaker 3: gonna have four starters on defense through the portal you
- 36:13Speaker 3: might have a rotational piece through the portal on offense
- 36:18Speaker 3: so it's not like LSU's roster when you take a
- 36:20Speaker 3: look at it but again it is more than they've
- 36:22Speaker 3: ever done before.
- 36:26Speaker 2: They basically just named their starting.
- 36:28Speaker 3: Quarterback and they haven't technically even done it you kind
- 36:32Speaker 3: of know through watching practice and listening to the reports
- 36:35Speaker 3: so it is a big unknown it is a team
- 36:38Speaker 3: that Like, Brian Wesko's played a bunch before, so you
- 36:41Speaker 3: kind of know the name, but there's not household names
- 36:45Speaker 3: at Clemson. That doesn't mean me sitting here saying they
- 36:48Speaker 3: can't be a good football team. It doesn't mean that
- 36:50Speaker 3: they're just going to lay down and LSU's going to,
- 36:52Speaker 3: you know, not have an opponent on Saturday.
- 36:54Speaker 2: They're a talented group. It's Clemson.
- 36:56Speaker 3: But in years past, we've been able to give you
- 36:59Speaker 3: names that have played for Clemson because they've been stars
- 37:01Speaker 3: in college for a year, two years, sometimes three years,
- 37:05Speaker 3: and they just don't have that this year.
- 37:08Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean, last year, leading up to the season,
- 37:11Speaker 6: we had... Us, Peter Woods, TJ Parker, Cade Klubnick. Cade Klubnick,
- 37:15Speaker 6: who was thought to be a Heisman contender, was definitely
- 37:19Speaker 6: going to be a first-rounder, obviously. We had so much
- 37:23Speaker 6: to talk about when it comes to Clemson. And this year,
- 37:27Speaker 6: Dabo has been very... He's kind of been like the
- 37:29Speaker 6: opposite of Lane. Been very stubborn to adjust to this
- 37:32Speaker 6: new age of college athletics and college football in the
- 37:36Speaker 6: NIL era.
- 37:38Speaker 3: And....
- 37:40Speaker 6: There might be more unknowns with them than there is
- 37:42Speaker 6: for LSU. There's just because you just don't know what
- 37:45Speaker 6: they have. They literally have not even named him as
- 37:48Speaker 6: the starting quarterback in this most important position out there. Yeah, okay,
- 37:51Speaker 6: you can look at it and be like, all right,
- 37:52Speaker 6: he's taken most of the first-team reps, blah, blah, blah.
- 37:54Speaker 6: But technically, the QB competition, air quotes, is still alive
- 38:00Speaker 6: in Clemson.
- 38:01Speaker 2: That's just how unsure it's all been, how much of
- 38:04Speaker 2: an unknown.
- 38:04Speaker 6: And I don't know if Dabo thinks that's a competitive
- 38:07Speaker 6: advantage for them going against LSU. LSU, they don't got
- 38:12Speaker 6: time to scout your quarterbacks. They got cases to do.
- 38:18Speaker 6: But I just think that it's just there's so much unknown.
- 38:21Speaker 6: You could see the result of this game going a
- 38:24Speaker 6: lot of different ways. I just don't see a result
- 38:26Speaker 6: of which they beat LSU in Tiger Stadium. I think
- 38:30Speaker 6: there's a better chance that we beat them by 20
- 38:32Speaker 6: than it is that we lose to them.
- 38:33Speaker 5: All right.
- 38:39Speaker 6: There's unknowns for both of these coaching staffs in preparation
- 38:44Speaker 6: for the, that's how weak ones are. And even more
- 38:46Speaker 6: so this day and age, when there's brand new rosters
- 38:50Speaker 6: every year, there's so much unknown. I think the unknown
- 38:53Speaker 6: for LSU is way more dangerous than the unknown for Clemson.
- 38:58Speaker 6: That is why, that's why I'm coming up with that.
- 39:00Speaker 6: That's why I'm saying the unknown for us is way
- 39:03Speaker 6: more dangerous with Talent you brought in at quarterback, receiver,
- 39:08Speaker 6: the improvements to the offense, the stability on the defense
- 39:11Speaker 6: with the added talent. Plus, you bring in a brand
- 39:14Speaker 6: new offense that LSU fans and LSU has never, ever
- 39:18Speaker 6: even thought about getting to. The type of offense that's
- 39:21Speaker 6: about to run. Now, I'm not saying it is going
- 39:23Speaker 6: to be dangerous, but the threat of that unknown is
- 39:25Speaker 6: way more dangerous than the threat of Clemson with a
- 39:28Speaker 6: new redshirt junior quarterback.
- 39:30Speaker 2: That they haven't even named a starter yet on a Tuesday.
- 39:33Speaker 4: When you can point to one or two guys and
- 39:35Speaker 4: be like, hey, these are the guys you need to
- 39:36Speaker 4: watch out for, that's an issue. Will Held's great. He
- 39:39Speaker 4: had 15 tackles for a loss last year, seven and
- 39:42Speaker 4: a half sacks. Awesome defensive end. He might be a problem,
- 39:46Speaker 4: but Sammy Brown's good. Outside of that, yeah, there's unknown
- 39:49Speaker 4: They're running back Gideon Davidson. If sports references to be correct,
- 39:53Speaker 4: which they normally are, he's yet to have a collegiate touchdown.
- 39:56Speaker 4: Like there's a complete unknown in their backfield.
- 39:59Speaker 2: Yes.
- 40:00Speaker 4: Bryant Wesco and TJ Moore are back at receiver. They're
- 40:03Speaker 4: really good players. They are solid players, but you're going
- 40:06Speaker 4: to need a little bit more than that with a
- 40:08Speaker 4: first time starting quarterback year four in the system, but
- 40:11Speaker 4: he started one game at Clemson. So far, he was
- 40:13Speaker 4: good last year against SMU and his one start. I
- 40:16Speaker 4: think he had like three 15, three touchdowns, no turnovers,
- 40:19Speaker 4: but I mean, that's all we've seen of him.
- 40:21Speaker 6: You could clip what I said about, you know, that
- 40:24Speaker 6: we beat him by 20, then we lose, like, to
- 40:26Speaker 6: make that a huge homework.
- 40:27Speaker 3: I heard you say you got a better chance of
- 40:29Speaker 3: pissing in a hot sauce bottle than Clemson beating LSU.
- 40:32Speaker 2: That's what I heard.
- 40:32Speaker 6: And I'm just looking at strictly what you just said.
- 40:36Speaker 6: There are so many unknowns. There are so many things
- 40:38Speaker 6: going against them. And I just don't think there's a
- 40:42Speaker 6: chance that LSU does not beat Clemson.
- 40:45Speaker 2: Yeah, there's a chance. Of course there is. But there's
- 40:47Speaker 2: a better chance of beating him by 20. I heard
- 40:50Speaker 2: what I heard. All right, we'll take a break.
- 40:53Speaker 3: More OTB when we come back here live from the
- 40:56Speaker 3: Raising Cane Studio.

- 42:09Speaker 1: Off the Bench with Jacob Hester and Matt Flynn, presented
- 42:13Speaker 1: by Community Steel.
- 42:18Speaker 2: All right, welcome back in, OTP.
- 42:39Speaker 3: We certainly want to also pay our respects to Jerry Stovall.
- 42:44Speaker 3: Thoughts and prayers to the Stovall family. He passed away yesterday.
- 42:49Speaker 3: And this is somebody that LSU threw and threw, for sure.
- 42:53Speaker 3: I mean, 1962, unanimous All-American. 1962, he was runner-up to
- 43:00Speaker 3: the Heisman Trophy. Two-time NFL All-Pro selection with the St.
- 43:04Speaker 2: Louis Cardinals.
- 43:05Speaker 3: 1977 LSU Hall of Fame inductee, 1982 Walter Camp National
- 43:11Speaker 3: Coach of the Year. And then in 2010, he got
- 43:15Speaker 3: into the College Football Hall of Fame. So as a player,
- 43:17Speaker 3: as a coach for the Fighting Tigers, Jerry Stovall gave
- 43:21Speaker 3: you everything that he had. Again, he was as LSU
- 43:24Speaker 3: as LSU can be. His number hangs up in Tiger
- 43:28Speaker 3: Stadium for a great reason. And he passed away yesterday.
- 43:32Speaker 3: So always enjoy my conversations with him. I had a handful.
- 43:36Speaker 3: I'm sure you did as well, Matt. And somebody that
- 43:39Speaker 3: we will dearly miss and somebody that absolutely loved LSU
- 43:43Speaker 3: with everything he had.
- 43:44Speaker 2: That's right. We celebrate an LSU legend. And, of course, yeah,
- 43:47Speaker 2: I had a, like.
- 43:48Speaker 6: You said, kind of like you, a handful of conversations
- 43:50Speaker 6: with him and always enjoyed him and respected him.
- 43:53Speaker 2: The age 85 passes away. So we celebrate.
- 43:56Speaker 6: We celebrate Jerry Stovall. Pray for him, his family. everything
- 44:01Speaker 6: like that. And, um, yeah, we honor him and celebrate
- 44:04Speaker 6: the life, the legend.
- 44:06Speaker 2: And, um, well done, sir.
- 44:08Speaker 3: That's one of the cool things about playing at a place.
- 44:11Speaker 3: And maybe it's like this other places. I just don't
- 44:14Speaker 3: hear about it, but I think about the conversations that
- 44:18Speaker 3: you and I have been able to have, you know,
- 44:19Speaker 3: be a part of and, you know, here and there
- 44:21Speaker 3: in passing, whatever it might be.
- 44:22Speaker 2: Some are more in depth, but.
- 44:24Speaker 3: With Jerry Stovall and Billy Cannon and Jimmy Taylor, like,
- 44:29Speaker 3: I just think about our, opportunities that we had to
- 44:32Speaker 3: be able to sit down, talk football, talk LSU with
- 44:35Speaker 3: legends like that, because everyone comes back to LSU.
- 44:39Speaker 2: Everybody comes back to Baton Rouge.
- 44:41Speaker 3: Like I will never forget being in the training room
- 44:44Speaker 3: and it was Jerry Stovall and Jim Taylor sitting there
- 44:46Speaker 3: having a conversation with me as I'm getting my ankles taped.
- 44:48Speaker 2: Yeah. I'm like, I'm trying to be cool in the moment,
- 44:51Speaker 2: but I'm like, these are.
- 44:52Speaker 6: Yeah, but you're trying to be, but you're also like
- 44:54Speaker 6: a dumb college kid and you have no idea really.
- 44:57Speaker 2: Like you have an idea.
- 44:59Speaker 6: But not the same admiration that we do now as adults.
- 45:05Speaker 6: As a college kid, you're kind of dumb a little
- 45:07Speaker 6: bit about the whole world, and you take a lot
- 45:09Speaker 6: of those things for granted.
- 45:10Speaker 3: Yeah, well, you know who I appreciate making sure that
- 45:12Speaker 3: I knew exactly the ins and outs?
- 45:14Speaker 2: Jim Marucci. Well, yeah, that, for sure. But also Jack Marucci, too.
- 45:19Speaker 3: Jack would come in, he'd tell you who it was,
- 45:21Speaker 3: and the light bulb would go off like, oh, that's
- 45:24Speaker 3: Jim Taylor, that's Billy.
- 45:25Speaker 2: Cannon, that's Jerry Stovall, whoever it might be. So, again.
- 45:29Speaker 3: I want to thank Jerry Stovall for everything he did
- 45:32Speaker 3: for LSU. He is one of the pillars of LSU athletics,
- 45:35Speaker 3: LSU football, and truly will have a mark that will
- 45:39Speaker 3: never go away and will stand the test of time.
- 45:41Speaker 3: So rest in peace, Jerry Stovall. And again, prayers to
- 45:45Speaker 3: his family. It is never easy losing a legend like that.
- 45:48Speaker 3: And again, somebody that loved LSU with everything he had.
- 45:51Speaker 3: All right, more OTB when we come back.
- 45:54Speaker 1: Off the bench.
- 45:57Speaker 3: All right, go see our friends over at Ochsner, as
- 45:59Speaker 3: we've been telling you over the last couple of weeks.
- 46:02Speaker 2: You know, back to school comes with a lot of
- 46:04Speaker 2: different things, right?
- 46:05Speaker 3: There's a lot of things that are on the schedule now,
- 46:08Speaker 3: and sometimes you lose sight of some things that are.
- 46:10Speaker 2: Very, very important.
- 46:12Speaker 3: You know, your child's mental health, keeping them fueled with
- 46:14Speaker 3: balanced meals, making sure that they're hydrated as they go
- 46:18Speaker 3: to school, come back from school, making sure they're getting
- 46:21Speaker 3: the proper rest, all of those things, right?
- 46:23Speaker 2: So make sure you're staying on top of that.
- 46:26Speaker 3: And we always tell you, with primary and pediatric care,
- 46:28Speaker 3: same-day appointments at many locations, plus extended and weekend hours
