Transcript
- 0:00BreakFix podcast is all about capturing the living history of people from
- 0:04all over the autosphere, from wrench turners and racers to artists, authors,
- 0:09designers, and everything in between.
- 0:11Our goal is to inspire a new generation of petrolheads that wonder.
- 0:16How did they get that job or become that person?
- 0:19The road to success is paved by all of us because everyone has a story.
- 0:27They started a safe space for F1 fans who felt marginalized in male
- 0:31dominate spaces to connect, make friends and discuss races, drivers,
- 0:35team drama, future goals and aspirations, and everything in between.
- 0:39Their specialty is connecting formula one.
- 0:41To pop culture and exploring the lighter, more fun side to the
- 0:44world's most elite motorsport.
- 0:46That's right, Tanya.
- 0:47Kate and Nicole of Two Girls, One Formula podcast fly their
- 0:52fangirl flag loud and proud and are never ashamed to get the label.
- 0:57They understand that you can respect the technical side of the sport
- 1:00and think the drivers are cute too.
- 1:02And they're joining us tonight for a special BrakeFix crossover episode.
- 1:07Brad, Tanya, and I want to welcome you both to BrakeFix.
- 1:10So how are you doing there, Nicole and Kate?
- 1:12Hi, thank you so much for having us.
- 1:14We're super excited to be here.
- 1:16Yeah, it's always fun to do a crossover with another show,
- 1:19especially if it's motorsport related.
- 1:21Absolutely.
- 1:21Absolutely.
- 1:22So as our listeners know, Tanya and Brad are our resident Formula 1 subject
- 1:27matter experts because they talk about it on every drive thru episode since.
- 1:31The very first one, there's that expert word again, I was going to
- 1:35say, I can see Tanya rolling her eyes a little bit about that strong word.
- 1:40Yeah.
- 1:40Eric, you're setting us up to be shamed on our own show.
- 1:44Even if you watch five minutes of F1, you're still more expert than I am.
- 1:48It's five years more than you've seen in the last 10 years.
- 1:51It's all relative.
- 1:52What I'm hearing here is we're all going to gang up on Eric in this episode.
- 1:58So actually the whole premise of the episode is to convince
- 2:02him why he should watch F1.
- 2:04And I have to tell you using the F1 drivers is cute.
- 2:07Might get your foot in the door.
- 2:09It might be a good opening for him.
- 2:11I love that drive to survive definitely will not be the way in.
- 2:15I will tell you that right now.
- 2:17It is a known fact on this show that I refuse, even though Brad has tried
- 2:22and multiple attempts unsuccessfully to get me to watch drive to survive.
- 2:26It's not going to happen.
- 2:27What's the reasoning behind that?
- 2:28Are we going to get into that later?
- 2:29Hardheaded stubbornness, but we can talk more about it.
- 2:31All right, we won't jump the gun on it.
- 2:34Well, we're going to unpack that though.
- 2:35Yeah, yes, we have to unpack that.
- 2:37He just doesn't watch F1 anymore because let's Not try to talk
- 2:41about, like, F1 20 years ago, because you'll put us all to shame.
- 2:45Got it.
- 2:45Absolutely.
- 2:46Got it.
- 2:47Yes.
- 2:48Yes.
- 2:48Setting the scene.
- 2:49I'm got, my wheels are turning.
- 2:50I'm, I'm building the case.
- 2:51I'm ready for this.
- 2:53Great.
- 2:53Great.
- 2:53Great.
- 2:54We'll stop picking on Eric for now.
- 2:56We're going to go back to that.
- 2:57But let's address the 900 pound cup in the room.
- 3:00Tell us how you all became F1 fans.
- 3:03Yeah.
- 3:03So a little bit of a long story, a little bit of a backstory is
- 3:08that I was dating someone in 2015 and he was a huge Formula One fan.
- 3:14I had never heard of the sport before, and I thought that
- 3:18racing cars was pretty dumb.
- 3:20I was like, this is what you choose to spend your time on.
- 3:22Okay, great.
- 3:24Eventually our relationship got pretty serious.
- 3:26We moved in together and my weekends were just.
- 3:29dictated by qualifying and when the race was on.
- 3:33So I was like, okay, well, if this is going to be my life now, then
- 3:37I might as well pick a favorite driver and just really get into it
- 3:42because I'm going to have to watch this sport every single weekend.
- 3:46And my ex boyfriend was like one of those people who
- 3:48consumed every single interview.
- 3:49He like watched all of the race highlights, every piece of content.
- 3:53And so I started picking up on the fact that Daniel Ricardo was
- 3:57like one of the more enjoyable humans to watch on the screen.
- 4:00And so I was like, he has the best personality.
- 4:02That's my guy.
- 4:03I'm going to start cheering for him.
- 4:04I have heard it said before by other female fans of Formula One.
- 4:08It's the smile that launched a million fans.
- 4:12I believe it.
- 4:13I believe that.
- 4:14You know, I was just, I would watch the press conferences and, you know,
- 4:17Lewis is very serious and you've got Seb and, and they take their job seriously,
- 4:20but Danny's up there cracking jokes.
- 4:22And I was like, all right, well, he makes this enjoyable for me.
- 4:24So I'm going to watch for him.
- 4:26I ended up going to my first race, which was Montreal, 2017, 2016.
- 4:32That was kind of when it clicked for me and I was like, I get it being
- 4:35there, hearing the cars in person, like seeing all of the people who
- 4:38came from all around the world, the sense of community was incredible.
- 4:42That was just a really fun environment.
- 4:43And so that kind of clicked for me and I was like, all right, I'm in it.
- 4:47So Montreal was my first race.
- 4:49Then I got to go to Silverstone and then.
- 4:51Kate and I lived next door to each other.
- 4:54So her and her boyfriend at the time now fiance live next door to
- 4:58my boyfriend and I in South Boston.
- 5:00And we were basically just like, come over, watch the race with us.
- 5:04We like to spend time together anyway, and we want more people involved.
- 5:07So like come over and hang out.
- 5:09And so Kate will take over the story now.
- 5:12Yeah, so Nick and I started getting into it just because we would
- 5:16hang out with Nicole and Alex.
- 5:17And at first I was like, this is really just an excuse for
- 5:19me to hang out with my friends.
- 5:20And like, I don't really care what's happening on the TV.
- 5:22Like if you're going to feed me and also make me cocktails at 8am, I will be there.
- 5:27And I don't care about anything else.
- 5:28I mean, we were just there and Alex and Nicole were so into it that
- 5:32it was hard not to be on our end.
- 5:35And my fiance is huge into sports.
- 5:37So this was just like another sport for him to love.
- 5:40So did you have, like, a cool name for it?
- 5:42Like, Brunching with Botas?
- 5:45I wish.
- 5:46No, it was just Sunday Brunch, I guess.
- 5:48Yeah, it was just, it was just Well, it was like our Sunday couple friends day.
- 5:52Yeah.
- 5:52We had, like, yeah, so we would just, like, would watch the races in the morning
- 5:55and then hang out the rest of the day and, like, go get food and do whatever.
- 5:58We got really into it.
- 6:00And then, I think this was, what, 2018, Nicole?
- 6:03Yeah, was like when we first were getting into it because I remember one of the
- 6:07first races I ever watched Kimmy one.
- 6:10Yeah, it was Austin 2018.
- 6:11Yeah, and he won and I was just obsessed with him.
- 6:14I was like, this dude doesn't care.
- 6:16He doesn't care that he just won.
- 6:18No emotion was just like.
- 6:20Awesome.
- 6:20And I was like, I love his vibe.
- 6:21I love this man's vibe.
- 6:23I love him now.
- 6:23He's my favorite after that is when drive to survive came out.
- 6:26And so we got a chance to like dive a little deeper into it and get to
- 6:30know the players a little bit better and team principals and the drivers
- 6:33and kind of everyone involved, which sealed the deal for us.
- 6:36And then I'll pass back to Nicole for the remaining part of the story.
- 6:41Before we pass it to Nicole, did you stick with Kimmy into his NASCAR
- 6:46era, I guess, a couple months ago?
- 6:48We really wanted to go to Watkins Glen.
- 6:49I don't remember why we couldn't, Nicole.
- 6:51I think you had a Batswrap party.
- 6:52Ugh, you're right.
- 6:53I had like, I had seven weddings this year and I was in a few of them
- 6:58and had bachelorette parties and every single weekend for the past,
- 7:01like five months has been taken up.
- 7:03So we did want to go see Kimmy mostly because I like wanted to see him,
- 7:07but I also really wanted to see his family because Minto and the little
- 7:11ice cubes, they're just the best.
- 7:13And so I was like, if they're going to be there, I have to be there.
- 7:16So unfortunately it was not there, but I wish I was.
- 7:19So I just want to clarify for the audience.
- 7:21Nicole, you were actually sort of physically involved with Formula
- 7:25One before Drive to Survive.
- 7:27Yes.
- 7:27And then Kate came about it sort of through you guys, the fandom, and Drive
- 7:32to Survive, and then went to your first kind of in person race after that.
- 7:36So it's a bit of a...
- 7:37You know, one side or the other.
- 7:38Okay, cool.
- 7:38Right.
- 7:39Yeah.
- 7:40And so then my boyfriend at the time and I went to Monza and I was thoroughly
- 7:46convinced we were getting engaged.
- 7:48I know Kate was also convinced we were getting engaged.
- 7:50Plot twist, we break up.
- 7:53He has been cheating on me and we break up the night before the Grand Prix.
- 7:58So I'm like, well, I'm still going to go to the Grand Prix because tickets
- 8:02are expensive and we're here now.
- 8:05And so obviously I didn't really enjoy my time in Monza.
- 8:08I did see Charles Leclerc's last win at the time.
- 8:11Obviously he went through a dry streak.
- 8:13So I felt we were kind of cursed together.
- 8:15So after that I came back and rightfully so I couldn't really watch
- 8:20Formula One My heart was broken.
- 8:23And so I kind of distanced myself from it a little bit.
- 8:27And then come 2020 season, obviously we have the COVID
- 8:30situation, everything shut down.
- 8:33Kate basically came to me and she was like, Hey, I miss
- 8:36watching Formula One with you.
- 8:38Can we reclaim this and like, make it our thing instead?
- 8:41Like, let's go back to doing brunches.
- 8:43I think it'd be really fun if we did themed brunches around this.
- 8:46And I was like, absolutely.
- 8:48I'm ready to get back on the horse.
- 8:50That summer when in 2021, they were like, all right, we
- 8:53finally have gotten it together.
- 8:55We're going to start racing again.
- 8:56Kate and I were like, all right, well, we send each other so much formula
- 9:00one content back and forth together.
- 9:02We might as well just start an Instagram page for it so that we can separate
- 9:07our main feed and not bother all of our friends with this formula one content.
- 9:12Let's just find like minded individuals through our dedicated
- 9:16Instagram, which is kind of where two girls, one formula came into play.
- 9:20It started basically because we were just working together out of my kitchen
- 9:25and Kate turns to me and she goes, how funny would it be if we had a
- 9:28blog called two girls, one formula?
- 9:30And I said, I'm buying the domain right now.
- 9:32And that was the end of that conversation.
- 9:34We literally didn't think about it at all.
- 9:37Yeah, we may or may not have shot ourselves in the foot with the naming
- 9:41decision that day, but it's stuck.
- 9:43And that's what we're here with now.
- 9:46It's definitely unforgettable.
- 9:47And so, you know, our thought process around that is obviously that was a
- 9:51cultural moment, however you view it.
- 9:54Everyone knows.
- 9:55It's the reference, especially if you're in a certain age group.
- 9:58And so we aim to be that viral moment within Formula One and just make sure
- 10:03that no one can forget who we are.
- 10:06We're going to pause here for a second for our first Pit Stop question.
- 10:09And this one's coming out of left field because if you do follow the two girls,
- 10:12one formula Instagram, there's something very apparent outside of all the memes
- 10:17and the shirtless guys and everything else is the discrepancy in your guy's height.
- 10:21Which makes you guys very similar to me and Brad.
- 10:25So, Nicole, how tall are you?
- 10:27I am 5'9 Ah, so Kate, then how short are you?
- 10:32Uh, I am 5'1 and a quarter.
- 10:35There it is.
- 10:36It's a quarter and a quarter.
- 10:39Not how short she is, it's how less tall she is.
- 10:45Yes, because Brad tends to tower over everybody in our organization.
- 10:49So I feel you there, you know, scrolling through your guy's Instagram, it's
- 10:53full of all sorts of interesting stuff.
- 10:55So very cool.
- 10:56Thank you.
- 10:56Thank you.
- 10:57You know, the whole point of two girls was also a little bit of
- 11:00spite for my ex boyfriend was that I wanted to be so ingrained in this.
- 11:05Ford that he really wouldn't be able to escape my success.
- 11:09So it started as a little bit of a revenge plot, but it has grown into
- 11:13something so much more beautiful and really impactful for the Formula
- 11:18One and motorsport community.
- 11:20I have to thank him for.
- 11:22Breaking my heart, because without it, we would not have
- 11:25Two Girls, One Formula today.
- 11:27You know, for people who want more on that backstory, catch, you know,
- 11:30their first episode, essentially.
- 11:32And there's even more to hear about this somewhat traumatic Monza event.
- 11:38There's a little Italian lady with an umbrella.
- 11:40There's a whole thing going on with that.
- 11:43That was a beautiful moment.
- 11:44I like That it was really, it really was.
- 11:47And for context for anyone who's listening, there was a moment.
- 11:50It was very theatrical American in Paris.
- 11:53Yeah, exactly.
- 11:54I'm sitting at the bus stop waiting for my now ex boyfriend to go
- 11:59figure out how we're getting from the train station to the track.
- 12:02It's pouring rain.
- 12:03My jacket is not waterproof.
- 12:05It's just water resistant.
- 12:07I'm soaked through.
- 12:09I don't have an umbrella.
- 12:10I'm waiting at the local bus stop.
- 12:12You're crying.
- 12:13I'm crying.
- 12:14This woman just comes up to me and she just, like, doesn't
- 12:17speak a lick of English.
- 12:18She just stands next to me and holds her umbrella over me.
- 12:22And I was just like, this is one of those, like, humanity is really good moments.
- 12:27And so I think about her often.
- 12:31Any plans to return to get your vindication, as you said?
- 12:35Yes.
- 12:35We definitely need to reclaim Monza.
- 12:37We're Thinking we're hoping to do next year, the Monza
- 12:42Grand Prix, just to reclaim it.
- 12:44Are you going to stop by that bus stop?
- 12:47I mean, it's right.
- 12:47It's right outside the train station in Monza where you take
- 12:52it if you're coming from Milan.
- 12:53And so it's hard to miss.
- 12:55So I will definitely be passing by and saying a little prayer.
- 13:00You should take your own umbrella in case it's raining and then you
- 13:02should pay it forward to the Yeah, you have to hold it over someone else.
- 13:07You're so right.
- 13:08I'll just leave it there for the next person.
- 13:10With a little note saying thank you.
- 13:12Yeah, exactly.
- 13:13That's it.
- 13:14Yeah.
- 13:15Since you guys are in the podcast biz as well.
- 13:18Take us through the difference between episode one, as we've sort of been
- 13:22highlighting here, to your 50th episode.
- 13:24Congratulations, by the way.
- 13:26Thank you.
- 13:26And here's to 50 more.
- 13:28So what did you learn 50 episodes later?
- 13:31A lot, but also not that much.
- 13:34You know, it's funny.
- 13:35I haven't really listened to our first episodes in a long time because
- 13:38they just kind of make me cringe.
- 13:41Because we literally had no idea what we were doing.
- 13:43We had no scripts, no agenda, no like...
- 13:46Anything we just would get, I mean, the first.
- 13:503 episodes that we recorded.
- 13:53We recorded them all within a week at Nicole's apartment in Brooklyn.
- 13:58I went there.
- 13:59Some of them we were just like laying in her bed right here in this in this room.
- 14:02Yeah, in that room.
- 14:03We're just laying there recording.
- 14:05I don't even know what we're talking.
- 14:06We had like grand plans.
- 14:07Like the 1st episode is going to be about.
- 14:09Us.
- 14:09And the second one is going to be all about F1.
- 14:11And the third one is going to be all about the people you need to know.
- 14:15And it was just chaos.
- 14:16And they're really funny.
- 14:18I need to go back and listen to them.
- 14:19To be fair, we literally were like, who knows how many of
- 14:23these episodes we're going to do?
- 14:24A couple of people had asked us to start a podcast and we said, all right, fuck it.
- 14:27We'll do a podcast.
- 14:29And so we like bought mics.
- 14:31We weren't sure what equipment we needed.
- 14:3315 off Amazon.
- 14:35And we're like, we're just using our computers.
- 14:37These Crappy mics, we'll see what happens.
- 14:40And I mean, I like to think that in the past 50 episodes, we have kind
- 14:44of found our voice and our niche and exactly kind of what people care about,
- 14:48the ways to talk about things that are interesting, but still educational
- 14:53enough that people know what's going on.
- 14:55We still don't totally do agendas.
- 14:58We're working on it.
- 15:00We're really trying.
- 15:01We do have like a shared notes app that we will like pop things in
- 15:04and we try to organize it, but it doesn't totally work, but I think
- 15:08we're trying to learn how to do like segments and like segment our thoughts.
- 15:12I mean, the thing that I think people like about the podcast for us
- 15:15is that it's very much just a real conversation between the two of us.
- 15:19The conversations that are on our podcast are literally conversations that we have
- 15:23just like every single day on the phone.
- 15:24Like, I will just like in the middle of the day, FaceTime Nicole, just cause
- 15:28like I am bored and we'll just like talk and afterwards we'll just be like,
- 15:33that should have been a podcast episode.
- 15:34Like that was funny.
- 15:36So it's just like, that's just kind of how it feels.
- 15:39So in some ways I'm like, I don't think we've learned too, too much because we
- 15:42haven't really tried to be anything that we weren't when we started the podcast.
- 15:46But I do think hopefully we're.
- 15:49A little better.
- 15:50I think we're a little better at editing.
- 15:51I think Nicole has really honed her skills in editing the podcast, um,
- 15:56because we used to only get comments like, your sound quality is so bad.
- 16:00Well, I think there was one of the episodes where you guys were like,
- 16:03you should really listen to this in like 2x and I'm like, what?
- 16:06I'm like, okay, like, all right, but I will say that it's kind of
- 16:09funny how, when we all get started, we sort of have a similar story.
- 16:12I bought the cheapest thing I could find at Walmart or on Amazon, and we just threw
- 16:17it up against the wall and saw what stuck.
- 16:19And the same thing, Brad used to always say, you know, it's kind of BSing
- 16:22in the basement, and I think we all apologized for our first season, right?
- 16:27We're kind of like, yeah, it wasn't great, but you know,
- 16:30it got me to where I am today.
- 16:31I will say Tanya pointed out as we were all reviewing and following your show
- 16:36that there has been a big transition.
- 16:37You can see it.
- 16:38The show has matured quickly in 50 episodes.
- 16:41So you guys are definitely on the right track and we're really curious
- 16:44to see, you know, how that perpetuates.
- 16:46Thank you.
- 16:48One of my favorite episodes was the road trip, one of the most recent ones,
- 16:51the road trip from Dallas to Towson.
- 16:54The sound quality was great on that one.
- 16:57I'm sorry the mic didn't stick to the steering wheel for you though.
- 16:59Oh my, that was probably the funniest thing that's ever happened.
- 17:04We are so proud, we're like, this is...
- 17:06Perfect.
- 17:07Like I had it in the steering wheel, like perfectly hooked up and then
- 17:10immediately had to back up and like back out of my parking spot.
- 17:14So I had to like turn the wheel.
- 17:15So the microphone is like spinning and the cord is pulling and the laptop's
- 17:20moving and we're like, this is a disaster.
- 17:22I think the road trip episode is a perfect, like encapsulation
- 17:26of our brand a little bit, where it was just kind of like.
- 17:28We're getting the authentic us and, uh, you know, people were commenting,
- 17:33like, replying to us and they were like, this has been my favorite episode
- 17:36yet because it's just so chaotic.
- 17:39Did you guys have like a camera hooked up watching you guys?
- 17:42It would have been funny to see Nick in the backseat.
- 17:44No, we should have.
- 17:45We had grand plans to like...
- 17:47GoPro and like do all of this and then we just never got our shit
- 17:50together in time to like do it.
- 17:52Yeah.
- 17:53I mean, we were listening to this like murder podcast the whole time
- 17:56and just like singing musicals.
- 17:58Like that's, that was the vibe.
- 18:00Like I wish we had a camera because That's what you guys are doing.
- 18:04I'm, I was just like driving one hand, holding a microphone.
- 18:07Like anyone that drove by us was definitely like,
- 18:09what's happening in that car.
- 18:11It was, Nick was just laying across the back seat.
- 18:14It was two girls, one car.
- 18:16I mean, come on.
- 18:18It really was.
- 18:19It was fun.
- 18:20And I think, you know, we've learned a lot.
- 18:22We've had the opportunity to have a handful of guests on the podcast.
- 18:25And so I think we've also learned how to be better
- 18:27interviewers and like how to pick.
- 18:29Guests who are going to be like enticing and interesting for our audience members.
- 18:34We're continuing to grow and learn in this space.
- 18:37Just like you guys probably are as well.
- 18:40Now you guys live apart.
- 18:41You guys used to be, you know, next door neighbors, right?
- 18:44So you could get together, do your brunches, your lunches, your
- 18:47late afternoon, maybe even middle of the morning, 2 AM, depending
- 18:52where the race was being held.
- 18:53What are, uh, some food tips for people if they want to hold a little F1 brunch?
- 18:58Did you guys have like actual themes per race or was it like Brazil?
- 19:03So we've got something Brazilian.
- 19:05It's Italy.
- 19:05We're getting pizza.
- 19:07Yeah, it started out pretty simple where we would just, we would say, okay, race
- 19:11is in Russia, so like, let's look up what.
- 19:14People in Russia usually have her brunch and we're going to make it.
- 19:17And then you ordered something else, right?
- 19:20No, we made them.
- 19:21We did.
- 19:22We had white Russians on 7 a.
- 19:24m.
- 19:27Rod's listening now.
- 19:29You have my attention.
- 19:31That is the drink of choice.
- 19:32Yes.
- 19:32Because this all happened like when the pandemic first.
- 19:36Kicked off and so I was living actually here on the Cape.
- 19:40My parents live here and I live on their property now.
- 19:42But we were here living with my parents for a while.
- 19:44And Nicole basically came and lived with us too.
- 19:47Much to the chagrin of my parents.
- 19:50We would be up at like the crack of dawn, just making the most.
- 19:55Random foods that everyone's like, what is this?
- 19:58One of them, I forget what it was from.
- 20:00I think it was like Azerbaijan.
- 20:02It was the, the sweet vermicelli noodles.
- 20:05Yeah.
- 20:06You, you knew exactly what it was going.
- 20:08It was like noodles that were like coated in cinnamon sugar with an omelet on top.
- 20:14Yeah.
- 20:14Delicious, but so strange.
- 20:16And we'd be like, surprise everyone.
- 20:18We made brunch.
- 20:19This is your breakfast.
- 20:20And everyone's like, what?
- 20:21Are you serving us?
- 20:23So that was really fun.
- 20:24You know, over time we kind of formalized it and figured out a better way to do it.
- 20:28So now on our Instagram page, every Tuesday before a race weekend, we
- 20:35will post a menu with some like traditional foods, but accessible foods.
- 20:39So nothing that's going to be like, you can only make this if you're in.
- 20:44Brazil country, just like things that like you can pretty easily adapt.
- 20:48And hopefully you have most of the things in your pantry.
- 20:50If not, like most grocery stores will have them around the world.
- 20:54So we'll do like some snacks and appetizers, some main courses, and
- 20:58at least one drink that's like kind of traditional to that country.
- 21:01And then we'll also share some facts about the track and the race itself.
- 21:04And then the country that they're racing in, just.
- 21:07So people can kind of eat the food, but also appreciate the culture
- 21:10and hopefully learn something.
- 21:12So yeah, if anyone's looking to do a brunch, watch long party and cook
- 21:16something, we have got you covered with menus for every single race.
- 21:20Yeah.
- 21:20And we're lucky enough to have an audience from around the world.
- 21:23And so we'll ask for advice from people who live in those countries.
- 21:26What is something traditional that you think we should include in the menu?
- 21:29And so we oftentimes get a lot of really good responses from that.
- 21:32And so that kind of helps us build our menu as well.
- 21:35So have you guys figured out what the actual drivers are eating?
- 21:38Quinoa and, uh, lettuce, protein bars, and that's it.
- 21:43They got to stay lean.
- 21:45Yeah, they're not eating anything.
- 21:47Basically.
- 21:48Uh, we're good at having all the fun and that's a lot of
- 21:51quinoa to get the calories in.
- 21:53I wouldn't want to eat a whole bunch of flaming hot nachos
- 21:56before going out on track.
- 21:57Either.
- 21:57So you do it anyway.
- 22:00Red bull, right?
- 22:02Or no, I'm sorry.
- 22:02A rich, rich energy gummy bears.
- 22:04Got to have a rich energy.
- 22:07We're a rich energy family over here.
- 22:09Our diet is very simple here.
- 22:10It's monster fig Newtons and Haribo gummy bears.
- 22:14I mean, the three major food groups.
- 22:15That's all you got to add the acre when the track goes cold.
- 22:18Yes.
- 22:18After the checkered flag, you add the Yeager a hundred percent.
- 22:22I love that.
- 22:23Yeah.
- 22:23So brunches, you know, kind of whatever.
- 22:26And Kate and I used to do it together.
- 22:27Now, sometimes we trade off like Kate has mentioned, she's been very,
- 22:31very busy in a lot of weddings.
- 22:33So I also have a deep passion for cooking.
- 22:37So more often than not, I'm the one who's cooking.
- 22:40She's way better.
- 22:41She's way better.
- 22:43So, you know, I'll just, I'll take the opportunity to do that.
- 22:46And since Kate and her fiance live on the Cape, they don't.
- 22:50have as many people around.
- 22:51So sometimes I'll make a really big spread and invite a bunch of people
- 22:54over to enjoy the spread and to also convince them that they need to
- 22:58start watching Formula One as well.
- 23:00So it's a little bit of a trap.
- 23:01You're an evangelist.
- 23:03Exactly.
- 23:04So if I can get you up and Adam by 9am for food at my home, then you're trapped
- 23:10here and you have to watch the race.
- 23:11All right.
- 23:12So second pit stop question.
- 23:14Do you guys have a bucket list?
- 23:16Of any car, any track you want to see or be at.
- 23:21Your ultimate F1 race, what is it?
- 23:24A, I'm not super knowledgeable on a variety of cars.
- 23:27I know names and that's basically it.
- 23:30And I'm also not very good at historical, like, versions of the F1 cars.
- 23:34I can't say that I have, like, a dream car.
- 23:37But.
- 23:38I would love if the Nuremberg Ring came back because that is one that I am dying
- 23:44to go to, so maybe if there is another series going on there, I'll make my way
- 23:49over there to go see it just because I think it's a beautiful, beautiful track.
- 23:53I would love to go to Suzuka and Singapore.
- 23:58I think those are the two that I would just like love to go to.
- 24:00I think they're so fun.
- 24:01Like I would love to see Singapore like at night and I think it's just such a
- 24:06cool city and I love the vibe that F1 brings to cities and I think that at
- 24:11Singapore would be crazy and I just think Suzuka is so fun and those are the two.
- 24:15I think that are.
- 24:16The most bucket list, because I think they'll probably be the
- 24:18hardest ones for me to get myself to.
- 24:21I've got a photo of somewhere of a part of the Singapore track from my
- 24:25hotel room when I was there a number of years ago, you could just see like, Oh,
- 24:31the bumpers and like, it disappeared under whatever, like bleachers to
- 24:34the soccer stadium or something.
- 24:36It was pretty cool to see that.
- 24:38You'll have to find it and shoot us an email with it.
- 24:40I'll have to dig deep for it.
- 24:42Brad and I want to do a dueling GTIs at Yasmarina.
- 24:46So it's a whole different experience.
- 24:48Okay.
- 24:48Yeah.
- 24:49As I mentioned at the top of the conversation, I have yet to watch a
- 24:53single moment of Drive to Survive, but you guys are both fans and you've
- 24:58been to races in real life, so let's do a little bit of this versus that.
- 25:02Drive to Survive versus IRL or in real life.
- 25:06What do you guys think?
- 25:07Okay.
- 25:08So here's the thing.
- 25:10I know Drive to Survive gets.
- 25:11a bad rep.
- 25:12People who have watched it before get angry that there's
- 25:15so many Drive to Survive fans.
- 25:16However, as someone who didn't have anyone in their life who watched
- 25:21it before, I just had my boyfriend and I, and I was desperate for
- 25:25my friends to be a part of this.
- 25:27I am grateful that Drive to Survive came around because it welcomed so
- 25:31many new people into a sport that is historically kind of tricky to get into.
- 25:36There's a lot of terminology that you can't Pick up right
- 25:39away, especially if you're not in tune with car culture at all.
- 25:43It's very technical.
- 25:45You're kind of thinking, especially as an American fan, what do we have?
- 25:47We have NASCAR, we have IndyCar and barely anyone knows about IndyCar.
- 25:52Well, now they do, but I feel like prior to that, it was like just NASCAR.
- 25:55So you're like, okay, they're going around in circles, whatever, you know, to have
- 25:58this show be an accessible way for so many of my friends and loved ones to be like.
- 26:04Okay, like I understand the appeal of this.
- 26:07I'll wake up with you at 7am to watch this sport.
- 26:10So for us, we're like, great.
- 26:13I love that this is a tool in my toolkit to convince people to
- 26:17want to be fans of this sport.
- 26:18Do I think that you should also get your ass to a real race?
- 26:23Absolutely.
- 26:23Because like I said earlier, that was kind of the moment for me where it clicked.
- 26:28Hearing the cars, feeling the environment, seeing the drivers in real life is
- 26:32just like taken from your screen and you really get to experience that.
- 26:37Now, not everyone has the ability to go to a race, they're
- 26:41getting more and more expensive.
- 26:42And, you know, some of them are in the far reaches of the globe.
- 26:46And so I think drive to survive is a great way for people to connect with the sport.
- 26:51In America, we love stories and we love TV and we love rooting for an underdog.
- 26:56We like to get to know people's stories.
- 26:58Like, I mean, that's why reality TV is so huge.
- 27:00Like we like to know everything.
- 27:03about people and about things that we care about.
- 27:05And so I think Drive to Survive kind of hit the nail on the head in order to
- 27:10get American fans involved and invested, because you can watch races and you can
- 27:15watch press conferences and you can be like, Oh, like, so and so does this a lot.
- 27:18And like, I know this person, but To have Drive2Survive kind of going
- 27:23behind the curtains, even if it is a bit contrived, it's obviously
- 27:26not fully real conversations, but I don't think they're fake.
- 27:30Like, I think the situations are real and maybe it's just like, Oh, we're going
- 27:33to film you guys talking about this.
- 27:35So you're not going to have like a totally natural conversation.
- 27:37To be able to have that, to be able to get to know different people involved
- 27:40in the sport is huge for people to get invested and choose someone
- 27:44to care about because you can see their personality a little bit more.
- 27:47Like Nicole said, a great educational tool for people that have no
- 27:51preconceptions about what this is.
- 27:53I personally have been trying to get more into other motorsports
- 27:57since, you know, loving F1 and I really want to get into MotoGP.
- 28:02Like I want to be like a huge fan of MotoGP so badly.
- 28:06For those that don't know what that is.
- 28:08That's the Formula One of motorcycle racing motorcycles.
- 28:11Yes.
- 28:12I want to be a big fan of MotoGP really bad.
- 28:14I think the athletes there are so cool and so fun and like, are a little bit
- 28:18more like personality and spirited than F1 drivers, like they just feel
- 28:23like they have such huge personalities.
- 28:25Cause they've got much huger balls.
- 28:27Yeah, they're like, Oh, I just broke the entire right side of my body, but
- 28:32like, I'll be back in three weeks.
- 28:33And I'm like, that's.
- 28:35Crazy to me.
- 28:36So does this play into the whole, you know, Hemsworth when he was playing James
- 28:40Hunt and the quote from Rush where he's like, women are attracted to race car
- 28:43drivers because they're so close to death.
- 28:45So do the motorcycle guys like take it to the next level that they're even hotter?
- 28:50Because I'm like, yeah, and let me tell you, they work out to be
- 28:54able to have that core strength.
- 28:55But for me, I was like, I'm watching the races and I tried to just like
- 28:59dive in and be and like follow people on Instagram and watch the races.
- 29:03And I was like, I have no idea what's going on.
- 29:06And things are happening so fast.
- 29:08The announcers are talking so fast.
- 29:09I don't really know what's going on.
- 29:11Amazon Prime did a series on MotoGP that was very similar to Drive to Survive.
- 29:17It was awesome for me to be able to watch that and like get to know who the
- 29:21different riders are and who the different teams are and kind of the dynamics
- 29:26between them and how things work and like what is big drama there and like what
- 29:30is something to watch out for and like if that happens like that's not normal
- 29:34or like if someone falls off a bike.
- 29:36That's pretty normal in a race where like in F1, I feel like if there's a
- 29:39really big crash that doesn't happen every single race, but in MotoGP,
- 29:44it's like, it's pretty common.
- 29:45I feel like we just like canceling Haas altogether.
- 29:48I mean, when we get to that later, there's literally a wreck.
- 29:51Every race they wreck before the race though, semantics.
- 29:57Now I see what we're doing, but at the same time in F1, if
- 30:00there's a big crash, it like.
- 30:02Halts the race.
- 30:03Yeah.
- 30:03Yeah.
- 30:03I mean, there's safety cars with MotoGP.
- 30:06They're just sliding off the track and they're just kind of, you're good because
- 30:10it's not like a huge car with like things.
- 30:12They're just like on their butt sliding across.
- 30:15I think that drive to survive has its value in the way the MotoGP series had
- 30:19for me that I was able to like get more into it and like understand the ins and
- 30:24outs a little bit better as someone had.
- 30:26No knowledge about it before, so it's funny you say that because I've
- 30:30also heard the counter argument that there are other sanctioning bodies of
- 30:34motorsport that are trying to replicate the drive to survive success formula.
- 30:381 of those being NASCAR.
- 30:39And unfortunately, it has failed miserably.
- 30:42Does it have more to do with the personalities?
- 30:47Because NASCAR doesn't need a reality TV show, it already is a reality TV show.
- 30:53I mean, I'm sorry, what do you mean?
- 30:56They had Ricky Bobby.
- 30:58They had that movie years ago.
- 31:00That was the documentary.
- 31:01Exactly.
- 31:02It was a documentary.
- 31:03Days of Thunder.
- 31:04Yeah, exactly.
- 31:05So I think NASCAR has a certain.
- 31:09Brand that is very different to what Formula One brand is, right?
- 31:14Like Formula One is elite motorsport.
- 31:17It's for super rich people.
- 31:18It's an aspiration to be able to go to these races that you see the celebrities.
- 31:23Obviously in America, we have an obsession with celebrity culture.
- 31:27Whereas I don't think that that reflects the same as it does in
- 31:31NASCAR, where it's like you're drinking Bush light in your cutoff shorts.
- 31:36And your sunburn and it's trashy and that's fine.
- 31:40And I think it's great.
- 31:40I'd love to go to a NASCAR race and experience that.
- 31:43And that's his charm, but it's very different.
- 31:46And I think people think about when F1 kind of blew up and they're
- 31:50thinking about the Austin Grand Prix.
- 31:51And we think about last year and all of the like crazy, stupid
- 31:54American stuff that F1 drivers do.
- 31:56And the rest of the world was like, look at.
- 31:58The Americans and like, look at how dumb they look with our elite motorsport.
- 32:03I think a lot of people just considered F1 to be similar to NASCAR.
- 32:06And that's kind of why they didn't consider it a fun sport, but now
- 32:10they see that it's different.
- 32:11But I think F1 is the gateway drug into other motorsports.
- 32:15And we've seen that with our community and that so many people come in through
- 32:19drive to survive through F1, but then are like, okay, I'm interested in IndyCar.
- 32:23I'm interested in the feeder series.
- 32:26I'm interested in.
- 32:28MotoGP.
- 32:29And so like our discord has channels for basically all types of motorsport
- 32:33because they're eager to learn because they're interested in formula one.
- 32:37So I'm definitely picking up on that.
- 32:39And I can honestly admit that I've converted a lot of people to multiclass
- 32:43endurance racing because these were like diehard formula one people.
- 32:47And they watched their first sail in six hours or 12 hours of Sebring
- 32:51or the Rolex 24, even Le Mans.
- 32:53I'm like, how did you live this long and not watch one of these endurance races?
- 32:57But when they watch it, they're like, Oh my God, the action and
- 33:01the passing and the strategy.
- 33:02And there's all this stuff going on and it's just super chaos.
- 33:05And it's not 90 minutes of a conga line because that's what a lot of
- 33:09diehard F1 fans are faced with.
- 33:11They're like, wherever you qualify is where you finish this part.
- 33:13Don't talk about Alonzo like that.
- 33:15My thing is.
- 33:18I can't watch spec racing anymore.
- 33:20Right.
- 33:21I gave up on formula one really after the V10 era.
- 33:25So in the old days, you had a mix of stuff.
- 33:27You could do VH, could be six turbos.
- 33:28You could have six wheel tierals.
- 33:30They were at the cutting edge of technology.
- 33:32Now it's like, well, there's three chassis builders and three motors
- 33:35and we debate this all the time.
- 33:36So for me, I see it as, I hate to say kind of boring versus multi class.
- 33:41Endurance racing, you've got Porsche and Ferrari and Corvette and Lotus
- 33:45and whoever and all these people.
- 33:47It's kind of cool to see them going at each other and you can distinctively
- 33:51tell the difference between them.
- 33:52The other thing I kind of take issue with with drive to survive, since
- 33:55we're speaking candidly about this and I don't bring it up too often
- 33:58on the show, he's never watched.
- 34:01It's because maybe I'm a little bit of a purist because I feel
- 34:04that drive to survive ripped off.
- 34:07Truth in 24, because if you look at what Audi, Netflix and Jason
- 34:12Statham did many years before drive to survive came out, it's a
- 34:15condensed version of drive to survive.
- 34:18And so it's nothing new, but I've also felt like Formula 1 didn't need this.
- 34:22It's sort of like when we talk about celebrities.
- 34:25Partnering with certain brands.
- 34:26And we're like, we didn't need you to tell us that this car manufacturer was cool.
- 34:31It was already cool.
- 34:32Well, here's the thing I will counter with saying that F1 didn't need that
- 34:37because they did need that because F1 was a failing brand with Bernie and Liberty
- 34:43media bought it and their stakeholders were like, you gotta make money.
- 34:47And they said, we got to expand the American markets and how can we do that?
- 34:51And they said, Netflix and Netflix brought in all of the money for them.
- 34:56And they turned that frown upside down.
- 34:58And now F1 is booming company for them.
- 35:01I hope Netflix got a good cut.
- 35:02Cause F1 owes them something.
- 35:04Exactly.
- 35:05So I think the sport was stale and I think before Liberty came in, social
- 35:11media was not a thing that drivers were really allowed to participate in.
- 35:15They kind of were just.
- 35:17formula one drivers and you didn't know them outside of that.
- 35:19And now this whole new version of formula one has kind of come to the surface.
- 35:24And so I agree with you.
- 35:25I do think that sometimes it's a little bit boring, but I think that
- 35:28it's only going to continue to evolve whether or not people agree with this,
- 35:33you Eric, with the purist situation.
- 35:35And that I think a lot of decision making is going to go into it to make it.
- 35:39And we've even seen with.
- 35:40Abu Dhabi last year with the Lewis and Max finish that things are going to
- 35:43start to happen for dramatics and to make it more of an exciting sport to
- 35:47watch at maybe the detriment to the driving itself, we are used to now
- 35:54having this very, you know, I think of the bachelor season, the most dramatic
- 35:59season yet, which is how I think formula one is like starting to feel that way.
- 36:03It's a dangerous line that they need to not cross becomes NASCAR.
- 36:07Right.
- 36:08Drama, they almost crossed it last year at the final race.
- 36:12Yeah.
- 36:12I had mixed feelings about that.
- 36:14So, you know, but if you think, okay, if that had finished under a yellow
- 36:17flag, that that would have been so anticlimactic to a pretty exciting season.
- 36:22Obviously the way that it finished.
- 36:23Was shitty.
- 36:24And so I think there's still a lot of things that need to be kind of
- 36:28ironed out, but it's interesting.
- 36:31And to your point, there's no way.
- 36:33I don't think this many Americans would be on the F1 bandwagon without that show.
- 36:38Because right now I think there's rumor that the Las Vegas race next
- 36:42year could possibly be bigger, more expensive than Monaco.
- 36:46Oh, I believe it.
- 36:47I believe that a hundred percent.
- 36:48And that's drive to survive.
- 36:50Yeah.
- 36:51Yeah, 100%.
- 36:52Here's my problem.
- 36:53We've gone to some F1 races in person.
- 36:55I still watch them occasionally.
- 36:57Again, I don't subscribe or watch Drive to Survive.
- 37:00But what I take away from that is there's all that hype and the
- 37:03drama, and it keeps the excitement going throughout the season.
- 37:05But if you take that away, Formula One is still boring.
- 37:09The racing to me is not as exciting.
- 37:12Some of the other disciplines like MotoGP, like WEC or IMSA, or some of
- 37:17the other ones where there are these real battles and you're rooting for
- 37:20a manufacturer that you can identify.
- 37:23Because if you can tell me the difference between the Alpha Tari,
- 37:26the Red Bull and the Toro Rosso.
- 37:28God bless you.
- 37:28Because to me, it's like watching Spec Miata racing.
- 37:31They're all the same.
- 37:32Well, I'll say this is kind of where we come in.
- 37:35We care deeply about the individuals as well, which makes the sport not so boring
- 37:40for us because we're like, we want to know what Pierre's doing the whole weekend.
- 37:44We want to see what outfits Lewis is wearing to the track because like we care
- 37:49about not just the action on the track.
- 37:52Like we care about everyone involved in the sport as well, which.
- 37:56Gives us a lot of content to talk about, right?
- 37:58Like we talk about the wives and the girlfriends and we talk about
- 38:02things like peripheral people in the sport, like their trainers.
- 38:05And like, if we were just watching for the racing, yeah, I'd probably
- 38:09be pretty bored, but the fact that we have kind of an emotional investment
- 38:13into the people behind the sport.
- 38:15Gives more value to the sport as a whole.
- 38:19I think it's like priorities and true interests and like
- 38:22what you care about the most.
- 38:23And like, I think that if you're someone that really cares about cars
- 38:27and auto manufacturers and evolution in that space, then yeah, Formula
- 38:33One probably right now is super boring because they have cost caps.
- 38:36They have only a certain number of manufacturers.
- 38:38They have all these things that's like, there's not a ton
- 38:41of innovation happening, really.
- 38:42So I can see why you might be bored by that, but I think that if you're kind
- 38:46of in it for the lighter side and for the people, then it's not super boring.
- 38:51So I think it's just kind of which way you're looking at the sport from for that.
- 38:56So here's what you have to do, Eric.
- 38:58You only need to watch like the first 10 laps.
- 39:01It's super exciting.
- 39:02You're like, damn it.
- 39:03Ferrari's got this.
- 39:05They're going to do it.
- 39:06And then some shit happens and then you're done watching.
- 39:08You can just walk away.
- 39:09Exactly.
- 39:11Yeah.
- 39:11And then maybe the last lap, just in case, just in case.
- 39:15And I can watch that dude on YouTube and that's all I need.
- 39:17He does the funny impressions.
- 39:18Exactly.
- 39:21He's so funny.
- 39:22I'm a little jaded because I grew up in a certain era, the groupie rally era, the.
- 39:27Group C prototype era and Formula One at the height of Senna and Prost.
- 39:32There didn't need to be drive sur survive back then.
- 39:35You knew that every event Prost and Senna were literally like good and evil.
- 39:40They were trying to take each other out all the time and you could see it in
- 39:44their driving and you could see it in the post session interviews and this stuff.
- 39:47There was just this anger.
- 39:49There was this angst and there was this emotion that was captured
- 39:52without the need of all the drama.
- 39:53But then again, that was the eighties and the nineties.
- 39:55And it was a totally different time.
- 39:57Right.
- 39:57So I get it.
- 39:58I get it, but it does kind of lend us into talking about the past.
- 40:04Yeah.
- 40:04So has your increased interest in formula one in the modern era, have
- 40:10you thought about going back in time and seeing where its origins are from,
- 40:14you know, some vintage F1 and not even just the racing itself, which I know is
- 40:18what Eric would you be interested in.
- 40:20But like, there's a lot of drama back then as well.
- 40:22I mean, with the louder and hunt and, you know, and prost and Senna, I mean, have
- 40:27you gone back and looked at any of that?
- 40:29Yeah.
- 40:29I don't know if you can see, I have this photo of James hunt on my thing here, but
- 40:34we have a friend, Elizabeth Blackstack.
- 40:36I don't know if you are familiar with her.
- 40:38We had a conversation with her.
- 40:39So she is a huge vintage F1 fan.
- 40:43She says.
- 40:44Really solidified for her was Rush seeing Chris Hemsworth
- 40:47play James Hunt was it for her.
- 40:50And so we had her on, we used to stream on Twitch over the summer and she
- 40:55came on and did a whole presentation for us on all of her vintage F1 fits.
- 40:59And we looked at all of the drivers and all of the best
- 41:02outfits from all of the eras.
- 41:03That was really fun for us.
- 41:05And I think we're starting to explore the more historical side of F1 because
- 41:10obviously we're in it all the time, but as we continue to grow and learn
- 41:14with our community, we're like, okay, well, let's take a step back and like,
- 41:16see how we got to where we are today.
- 41:19Leaning into that and learning more about the different eras of the cars is
- 41:23something I think we're looking forward to exploring more during the off season.
- 41:29So if you guys.
- 41:29Caught up on any of the documentaries that are out there on some of the older stuff.
- 41:33Like, okay, you could loosely say Rush Hunt vs.
- 41:36Lada.
- 41:37Definitely a good film to watch.
- 41:38Like, Netflix has got a couple.
- 41:40They've got the Senna documentary that goes over that.
- 41:42I don't know if you guys have seen that.
- 41:44Yep.
- 41:44Yeah.
- 41:44Then there's even the older one, I think it's still out there, the
- 41:46one Manuel Fangio documentary.
- 41:48I haven't seen that one.
- 41:50So that's even, that's like origin story.
- 41:52Way back, yeah.
- 41:52Essentially.
- 41:53So that'd be another good one if you're looking to.
- 41:55And you know what's really great about the Fangio documentary, which
- 41:58I wrote an article about a couple years ago when it came out, it debuted
- 42:01right at the beginning of COVID.
- 42:03And one of the things they did in that episode is one of our
- 42:06new favorite Pit Stop questions, which is goat or goatee fee.
- 42:10And so they ask a lot of the drivers who is the greatest of all time.
- 42:14So I want to pose that question to you guys as well.
- 42:16Whatever you think that definition is.
- 42:18And the answer is not goateefy.
- 42:21Everybody has an opinion about who, or it could be goateefy.
- 42:25I saw that you all think the goateefy is quite attractive and you're, you're,
- 42:28let me tell you, we saw him in person and yeah, we saw, we saw him and
- 42:33we're like, so he's, he's one of those people that's better looking in person.
- 42:35Yes.
- 42:36Yeah.
- 42:36Okay.
- 42:36Yes.
- 42:37Well, I have to say from the images that you all sourced for your
- 42:40Instagram posts, they were quite.
- 42:42Favorable to him, I would say.
- 42:45Streamer Nikki really has got it going on.
- 42:48I'm like, what is it, DJ Lando?
- 42:50DJ Little Landy, as we call him.
- 42:53Okay, to answer the question about who the greatest of all time is, I think,
- 42:57honestly, I'm torn between Schumacher and Senna, just because I think...
- 43:02That they had such a cultural impact on the sport, you know, you bring up
- 43:06Michael Schumacher to almost anyone and they know that name doesn't
- 43:11matter if they even know that he was a Formula One driver, like they most
- 43:14certainly like know who that person is.
- 43:18And even just looking at his record of being the most winningest F1 driver tied
- 43:22with Lewis is really, I think, it for me.
- 43:25And Senna obviously was, it's a shame that he had to leave us so early
- 43:30because I can only imagine what he would have been able to accomplish.
- 43:33And I would also be between two people.
- 43:36Neither of the two that Nicole just said, I totally agree with what she just said.
- 43:40And I think that like Michael Schumacher is a very obvious,
- 43:43like, that's probably who's the greatest of all time in the sport.
- 43:46But for me, okay, well I kind of have three, so I'm really
- 43:50not paying my name right.
- 43:52Number one, from a long time ago, I would say Nicky Lauda.
- 43:55Like I love his story.
- 43:57I think that he was an incredible driver, but I also just think he was
- 44:00an incredible mind for Formula One.
- 44:02And I think that he was.
- 44:04So talented on the track, but equally, if not more talented off the track
- 44:09and the way that he was able to work on the cars and figure things out
- 44:12and be like, you're doing this wrong.
- 44:14And I can make this go faster.
- 44:16Just let me do it.
- 44:17And then to be able to come back and like, have such a long career.
- 44:22Staying in Formula One, being an advisor, just working with these different teams.
- 44:26And I think it just goes to show like the fact that he was still
- 44:30working with Mercedes when he died is just like a testament to
- 44:35how valuable he was to the sport.
- 44:38My second choice is Kimi Raikkonen.
- 44:40Not just because he was my favorite, but I just think he's the GOAT.
- 44:44Like he came in first season was just like, what if I just won?
- 44:49Everything incredible.
- 44:50And then he was like, all right, I'm going to fuck off for a couple of years and
- 44:53like, try something else just for fun.
- 44:55Comes back almost completely bankrupt Lotus because he's so fast.
- 45:00They were like, we don't really know what to do because we don't have
- 45:03enough money to pay you everything that we promised we would based
- 45:06on how many points you would get.
- 45:07Then he's just like, I don't know.
- 45:09Maybe I don't want to do this anymore.
- 45:10Goes on, just like continues winning, continues being amazing.
- 45:14And then just like decides to leave when, when he decided to leave and was
- 45:17just like, you'll never see me again.
- 45:19And we basically have it.
- 45:21And I think he's been like one race, but he was like, I'm done.
- 45:24I'm out of here.
- 45:24And he, he was a funny person.
- 45:26He was a funny like character in the paddock, kept to himself,
- 45:29always kept it interesting, but also didn't like subscribe to.
- 45:33The evolution of F1 and was just like, I don't do media.
- 45:37Actually, I don't want to do that.
- 45:38And I won't be on social media.
- 45:39You can try, but I'm not giving you anything.
- 45:42And I think he just stuck true to who he was.
- 45:44And so I think he just personality wise, greatest of all time.
- 45:48And then my.
- 45:48Final person that I would put on this list that I think years from now we will say
- 45:53greatest of all time is Lewis Hamilton.
- 45:54And I think that he's had to do things in this sport that no one before
- 45:58him has ever, ever, ever had to do.
- 46:00He's had to overcome so much and he's also been the biggest star in the time frame
- 46:07of F1 where F1 is Global on social media.
- 46:10It's 24 7.
- 46:12You're not just being looked at through the eyes of a newspaper
- 46:15or a camera crew on the weekends.
- 46:18And, you know, people that are there, but you're being looked at by everyone all
- 46:22the time, no matter what you're doing.
- 46:24And I think he's handled it really well and has had incredible
- 46:27results and has kind of always.
- 46:30done things with grace.
- 46:31And so I think that in 20 years from now, when we look back and ask
- 46:35people this question, he'll be one of the top names that people say.
- 46:39I mean, I don't disagree.
- 46:42It sounds like you might.
- 46:44I mean, just a, just a touch.
- 46:45I mean, Hamilton has had an interesting evolution because if
- 46:49you go back to the early days.
- 46:51Especially when he was a young pup and they had him on top gear, you know, a
- 46:55star at a reasonably priced car and things like that when he was first starting out,
- 46:58he was very different than he is now.
- 47:01Right.
- 47:01And they say money changes people and fame and celebrity as well.
- 47:04And then there was that kind of dark period in the middle of
- 47:07his career where he was like, I don't want to talk to anybody.
- 47:09He's very standoffish.
- 47:10And he was trying to be like Senna because Senna was very closed.
- 47:14He was very reserved.
- 47:16Senna didn't talk a big game.
- 47:17He would show up and just kick ass.
- 47:19And that's The, his style, but Senna is still, and I think always will be
- 47:23regarded as like a God and not a goat.
- 47:27Like he was super human.
- 47:28Oh, you're adding a new category.
- 47:30Okay.
- 47:32100%.
- 47:32And even somebody like Tanner Faust, who just recently drove
- 47:36Senna's McLaren MP4 on a test day.
- 47:39He got out of the car.
- 47:39He goes, I don't know how this guy did it.
- 47:41Yeah.
- 47:41He was super human.
- 47:42The thing about Schumacher to Nicole's point is that he was.
- 47:47Always in Senna's shadow, he was studying Senna and he became good.
- 47:52He had a lot of time in the trenches, but what offset Schumacher
- 47:56as not a God or even a goat, he's like a national treasure.
- 48:00He was adopted by the Italian people, right?
- 48:04And so he's this like point of national pride.
- 48:07And there's just, he's an idol.
- 48:08It's totally different.
- 48:10So he has the merit and the resume to be a goat.
- 48:14Again, I think he's in a different category.
- 48:16Just like Fangio's in a different category, like Lauda and Hunt.
- 48:20They got the records and the personality and the panache, but
- 48:23they're not, it's not quite there.
- 48:25Right.
- 48:25And there's other names that go there, even Andretti, Fittipaldi and others that
- 48:29are Formula One champions, but it's just like, there's these, these other levels.
- 48:33I think Hamilton's almost there.
- 48:35What hurt him?
- 48:36Is the 10 years that he's been doing this and how much he hasn't stayed the same.
- 48:42Senna stayed the same.
- 48:43Schumacher stayed the same.
- 48:44Fangio was always Fangio to your point about Kimmy, where Kimmy's
- 48:49Kimmy and he always will be Kimmy.
- 48:50Yeah.
- 48:52So that's where I, I kind of diverge on that, but you're, you're making
- 48:55very valid points across the board.
- 48:56But Hamilton.
- 48:58Has had to change because of the way the world has changed over the
- 49:02last and the way he's gone from just like an F1 champion and superstar
- 49:09to like a social justice hero for the people that don't have a voice.
- 49:13And he's using his voice for that.
- 49:15And I, you know, so he's using the platform and, you know, Ecclestone's gone.
- 49:19So the collar's off and now people can do what they want.
- 49:22And he's using his platform.
- 49:24To try and do good in the world.
- 49:26So that's, he probably would have been doing those things before if he
- 49:30was able to, I'm going to be honest.
- 49:32I didn't love Lewis that much when he was Nico's teammate.
- 49:36I just thought this guy is insufferable.
- 49:38I didn't particularly enjoy his personality.
- 49:41And then he did.
- 49:42I watched that show.
- 49:45Is it Larry David?
- 49:46I'm trying to think.
- 49:46And my next guest is who is that?
- 49:48David Letterman.
- 49:49David Letterman.
- 49:50I would love to see Larry David.
- 49:52Sorry.
- 49:53I was like a late night host.
- 49:54I could not remember.
- 49:55David Letterman.
- 49:56And my next guest is, and Lewis was on it and I watched it and it was
- 50:00kind of a different side to him.
- 50:01And I think that was kind of a turning point for him where
- 50:04they were kind of like, we're changing your PR and we're like.
- 50:07Diving deep into like this softer, more personal side of you.
- 50:12And ever since then, I feel like he has been a different person who has
- 50:17been more outspoken about his struggles and other people's struggles to your
- 50:20point, Brad, about like being a voice for people who don't necessarily have
- 50:25access to the platform that he does.
- 50:26Speaking of insufferable people, uh, Russell, his teammate, that's personal
- 50:33opinion, but yes, and he might be the answer to this question, but I doubt it.
- 50:38Sexiest F1 driver of all time.
- 50:41Let me tell you, I saw Jensen Button in person in the paddock in Austin, and I was
- 50:47like, Yeah, that man is handsome as fuck.
- 50:51He's tall, too.
- 50:53And I was just like, yeah, he's top of the list for me right now.
- 50:56But Mark Webber also is really up there, too.
- 50:59Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 51:01A young Jackie X.
- 51:03will always do it for me.
- 51:04I'm too busy like choking down my laughter over here because I can guess for Tanya
- 51:09who it is and it's not Ayrton Senna.
- 51:12It's Nigel Mansell.
- 51:13She loves that Tom Selleck mustache, broom mustache.
- 51:18Well, Kate and I were literally talking earlier today about we need
- 51:22the return of the short shorts.
- 51:24Yes.
- 51:26David Coulthard.
- 51:27No.
- 51:28Yes.
- 51:28The chin.
- 51:29It's the chin.
- 51:30It is quite impressive.
- 51:31I did walk by him one time.
- 51:33But, no.
- 51:35I can't say David Coulthard is the sexiest epilogue I know.
- 51:38I can't say that.
- 51:39No.
- 51:40In full confidence.
- 51:40But I also will say, young Jackie Ickx, I love him, but also, and I'm gonna
- 51:45bring him up again, Kimi Raikkonen, he went through a phase when he was
- 51:50younger, he had longer blonde hair that it was sometimes spiked, sometimes
- 51:54not, sometimes just a little bit long.
- 51:55There is one photo of him wearing a White wife beater, tight pants, and a fur coat.
- 52:02I don't know if you can say that, Kate.
- 52:03I don't know if we call them that anymore.
- 52:05I don't know what else we call them.
- 52:07Dang dog?
- 52:09It's a wife beater, sorry.
- 52:10Um, I'm not saying character wise, but that's what they're called.
- 52:16And it's like the best photo I've ever seen.
- 52:19And he went through a big fashion phase.
- 52:20So he's my favorite.
- 52:21And I think he's so sexy.
- 52:23Kimmy was, you guys got to go back in time.
- 52:26Take a look at Eddie Irvine and Alex Zanardi and Damon Hill.
- 52:31And some of those guys, Damon Hill is here's the thing.
- 52:35Here's the thing you asked for the sexiest.
- 52:36And I'm answering, I'm surprised you didn't say Leclerc.
- 52:40He's beautiful.
- 52:40Okay.
- 52:41I think he's like, yeah, he's like, he's not sexy though.
- 52:43He needs a couple more years to mature into himself.
- 52:47Yeah.
- 52:48I'm like, I think he's like too young for me to say that he's like the sexiest.
- 52:51His personality ruins it.
- 52:53For me though, I don't like the clerk as a person.
- 52:57All right.
- 52:58So before a fight starts, has F1 changed your appreciation of the car hobby?
- 53:09Nicole, you said at the beginning, you weren't really interested in
- 53:11cars when this all first came about.
- 53:14So has your opinion changed a little bit?
- 53:16My ex used to play this game where he would just see a sports car on the street
- 53:20and he would be like, do you think I would be hotter if I drove Car and I
- 53:24would always be like, no, because I don't care about sports cars that much.
- 53:29I still don't particularly care that much.
- 53:32I don't think anytime soon I'm going to get into like rebuilding my own car, but
- 53:36I think that I have learned a lot more.
- 53:40about the car hobby.
- 53:42There's so much going on that I simply don't have time to dive too
- 53:47deep into all of this because I will literally not have a life if I do that.
- 53:51You've just defined our entire show.
- 53:54Yeah.
- 53:54I still have to do other things and so that's the extent of my car hobby.
- 54:01situation.
- 54:02What about you Kate?
- 54:02Pretty much the same.
- 54:03I've never been super, super into cars.
- 54:06I think I have an appreciation for like nice vintage cars now.
- 54:10Like I think like looking at them, I'm like, I can recognize more cars on the
- 54:13street and be like, Oh, that's this.
- 54:16That's cool.
- 54:17Or like, Oh, that looks like an old version of like this kind of car.
- 54:21And like, I know that that's cool, but like, I can't totally tell you why.
- 54:25Nothing crazy.
- 54:27Like I'm like, I can tell that something is like a Corvette
- 54:30and like, that's pretty easy.
- 54:32But I did buy my first car, owned a car before, but I bought a car by myself.
- 54:36For the first time ever this summer.
- 54:38And I did get the sport version.
- 54:41Um, so I feel like I probably wouldn't have done that if I wasn't into F1.
- 54:46I'm not going to ask you what it was.
- 54:48I don't want to embarrass you.
- 54:50Oh, no, it's a cool car.
- 54:51I love it.
- 54:52Tell you it's a Hyundai Tucson 2022, the end line, which is their sport version.
- 54:57It has nice red piping around it for Ferrari for me.
- 55:00And it has sports mode that if I want to go, I can click a little
- 55:04button and I'm in sports mode.
- 55:08Yeah.
- 55:08That's what DRS is enabled.
- 55:09Exactly.
- 55:11It's your encyclopedia of car design is.
- 55:17to the hobby.
- 55:18Normally, we would ask people, you know, sexiest car of all time to kind
- 55:21of go in line with our sexiest F1 drivers that we were talking about.
- 55:24I think it might be easier to ask you this other fan favorite.
- 55:28What's the ugliest car?
- 55:29Kia Soul.
- 55:30Damn, that was fast!
- 55:31I was first.
- 55:32You guys, I'm sorry.
- 55:34Was that your first car?
- 55:36No, I just think they're so, so hideous.
- 55:39Like, you're never, ever, ever, ever, ever Ever going to see
- 55:42a normal colored Kia Soul.
- 55:43It is always going to be that pukey lime green.
- 55:46Yeah.
- 55:46Or shit brown.
- 55:47Yeah.
- 55:48It's just always the ugliest color.
- 55:51And I'm just like, who's buying these?
- 55:53Like, how did they get you to buy this car?
- 55:55It's so hideous.
- 55:56All I can think about is that when I was looking to buy a car
- 55:59this summer, I test drove one.
- 56:01It was this horrible red.
- 56:02It was like bright, bright, bright red, but it was, it was, Oh my God.
- 56:06It had this weird shimmer to it.
- 56:08I hated it so much.
- 56:09And they were like, this is the only one of these we have, like this car
- 56:12that's like here because there's like no cars anymore because there's import
- 56:16craziness happening, I don't know.
- 56:18And I was like, okay, I love it, but I.
- 56:21hate this color.
- 56:22And the guy was like, well, when you're driving it, you
- 56:24won't even know that it's red.
- 56:25You're like, that's not the point.
- 56:27And I was like, that's a horrible, horrible, horrible
- 56:29sales tactic to say to me.
- 56:30I'm not, I'm relying on principle now because you just said that
- 56:33to me, but that's how I feel like they get people to buy Kia Souls.
- 56:36They're like, you can basically have this for free.
- 56:39You just have to know that it's puke green with shit brown interior.
- 56:44I'll pay you to take this Kia.
- 56:45Literally, they're like, please take this from us.
- 56:49I think that's a pretty good one.
- 56:50I don't know if I feel as passionately about any, I feel more
- 56:56passionately towards colors of cars.
- 56:58And I really hate when people have like burnt orange, because I'm like,
- 57:02why would you choose that color out of all of the colors that you could
- 57:04have possibly gotten for a car?
- 57:06It's like the number one color that the Honda Element was sold in.
- 57:10So ugly.
- 57:12So, I, I think Kia Soul, yeah, I'd probably, cause I just
- 57:15think of the hamster commercial.
- 57:17I'm like, which isn't even a good commercial.
- 57:19Like, how does that help sales?
- 57:21I'm like, you're getting weird hip hop hamster rats.
- 57:24Like, why are we, what's the, what are you trying the rapper on the playstation.
- 57:29Yeah.
- 57:30Who is the market for that commercial?
- 57:31Yeah, exactly.
- 57:32Clearly at work, people are still buying Kia Souls today.
- 57:34So everybody that surrounds Kate is buying Kia Souls.
- 57:37It's because they've been sitting on the last.
- 57:38For so long.
- 57:39There's nothing else to buy.
- 57:40There's nothing else.
- 57:42I know.
- 57:42I'm like, I'm on Cape Cod.
- 57:43So I'm in like retirement country too.
- 57:45I'm like, this is old people, bamboo.
- 57:48They're, they're just getting swindled into these Kia Solas.
- 57:50It's like a bait and switch.
- 57:52They were guaranteed one car and then they got delivered a Kia.
- 57:54They don't know what to do about it, so they just keep it.
- 57:56I'd know it.
- 57:57There's no one out there that's willingly buying a Kia Soul, and if you're one
- 58:00of those people, please contact me.
- 58:02I have to talk to you.
- 58:04It's our next crossover episode, we're doing that one together.
- 58:08It's an intervention for anyone who's bought a Kia Soul.
- 58:12You need to like, talk to the president of the Kia Soul fan club or something.
- 58:15I guarantee you there is one.
- 58:17There is one, for sure.
- 58:18There has to be one out there.
- 58:19I'm going to bring them to therapy with me and be like, I need to
- 58:21get to the bottom of your brain.
- 58:24So back on topic, as we're closing out the 2022 season, what
- 58:29are some of the best moments?
- 58:30Worst moments in your opinion?
- 58:32Great question.
- 58:33Best outfits, worst outfits.
- 58:35It's so funny.
- 58:35Cause we actually just ran this poll on our Instagram where we were
- 58:39like over the 2020 season, what were the best moments for everyone?
- 58:43Obviously, I think one of the ones that comes to mind is Danny
- 58:47arriving in Austin on the horse.
- 58:49You know, I'm going to really miss his theatrics in the paddock when he's gone.
- 58:54Thinking about, you know, one of the most impactful moments for me personally.
- 58:59Was Joe's crash where he flipped over and then basically like
- 59:04slid into the barricades.
- 59:05That's right.
- 59:06He ended up over the barricade.
- 59:08And then George got out of his car and like ran over and was like trying
- 59:13to call for help and was like, didn't leave until someone had gotten there.
- 59:17That was.
- 59:17That moment was crazy.
- 59:19Huge moment about like the safety features that had been implemented in the sport
- 59:23and just proving that these are necessary and like how life saving they actually
- 59:29are because he would have been so dead if the halos had not been implemented.
- 59:33And so for me, that was very cool to see.
- 59:36Even though the drivers rallied against the Halo for so long, I think they're
- 59:41finally like, okay, this has saved people's lives a handful of times.
- 59:45Yeah.
- 59:45I think we can get over it.
- 59:47So that was a really, really memorable moment from this season.
- 59:51For me, I loved when Charles was leading the championship for a little bit.
- 59:54You know, there was a, there was like a month or so that he was doing that.
- 59:58And that was huge for me.
- 1:00:00And also I loved the return of Kevin Magnuson.
- 1:00:03Like, I mean, best part of the season was when they said, Nikita
- 1:00:06Mazepin, isn't coming back.
- 1:00:09Number one, like no questions about it.
- 1:00:12Them saying he's been terminated really did it for me.
- 1:00:16But then them bringing Kevin Magnuson back, I was like, Oh, Hey, Megan
- 1:00:19Gunther back together, getting the gang, the band back together.
- 1:00:23It was like really great for me.
- 1:00:25And then the second best announcement was Latifi leaving.
- 1:00:28I mean.
- 1:00:29We were all waiting for it.
- 1:00:30It's time for him to go.
- 1:00:31It's time for him to go it.
- 1:00:33It's pretty sad when your backup driver, you know, comes in for your teammate who's
- 1:00:37out in appendicitis and scores points.
- 1:00:39Yeah.
- 1:00:40Yeah.
- 1:00:40It's so tough on his maiden F1 race.
- 1:00:43Exactly.
- 1:00:43Yeah.
- 1:00:44Lat, you know what?
- 1:00:44I'm glad that Latifee was in F1 for the Solf fact that he kept
- 1:00:47Williams of float for a while.
- 1:00:49Mm-Hmm.
- 1:00:49And they really needed that . Yeah.
- 1:00:51So thank you to Latia for that, but time to go.
- 1:00:54Time for you to move on.
- 1:00:55. Yeah.
- 1:00:56And that brings us to it's amazing.
- 1:00:59They still exist.
- 1:01:00So let's talk about the Toad, Haas, and Christian Horner.
- 1:01:03Let's talk about it.
- 1:01:05Brad's three favorite things.
- 1:01:07No, I talked about rich energy all the time.
- 1:01:10What's the difference?
- 1:01:11Same.
- 1:01:12We're new to MoneyGram.
- 1:01:13We talked about MoneyGram.
- 1:01:15Yeah, that's their new, their new sponsor.
- 1:01:17Probably nobody has kind words to say about any of those three.
- 1:01:20No, here's the thing.
- 1:01:21I'm actually an advocate for Haas.
- 1:01:23We love Haas.
- 1:01:24Here's why, and you'll learn this in Drive to Survive if you watch it, Eric.
- 1:01:28Gunther is a girl boss, okay?
- 1:01:30Oh, Gunther's awesome.
- 1:01:32Gunther said, I'm gonna be a team principal if it's
- 1:01:36the last thing that I do.
- 1:01:37And he put his ass into gear and he convinced Gene Haas.
- 1:01:42To buy a team and make him the team principal.
- 1:01:45He seems like the most unlikely team principal person too.
- 1:01:48With no prior experience, no qualifications, he was
- 1:01:52just like, I want this.
- 1:01:53He was like an engineer, so he kind of has a little bit of experience, but
- 1:01:57he basically was like, you know what?
- 1:01:59I'm going to fast track this and I'm just going to get someone
- 1:02:01else to buy a team for me.
- 1:02:03He's basically like the Lance Stroll of team principals, where he went to
- 1:02:08Gene Haas, got him to buy the team and install him as the team principal.
- 1:02:11And so I appreciate that about Gunther and I appreciate that about Haas.
- 1:02:15I think Gunther continuously gets the shit beat out of him
- 1:02:19by how horrible his team is.
- 1:02:21Still, he rises in the words of Lewis.
- 1:02:24And I just appreciate that about him.
- 1:02:26I also think Haas has no pretenses.
- 1:02:28They're not trying to be better than they are.
- 1:02:31They know that they suck.
- 1:02:32They're not gonna ever say they're better than anyone.
- 1:02:35Or like, any of them.
- 1:02:35The bestest season when Gunther was like, Oh, they're talking about me?
- 1:02:39That just means that they're jealous.
- 1:02:40When Haas was like, doing well for a little bit.
- 1:02:42He's like, If there's rumors starting about me, that means that I'm doing well.
- 1:02:45So keep talking.
- 1:02:46He was like, no presses, bad press, baby.
- 1:02:48And then they're like, what if we took sponsorship money from these like tiny
- 1:02:51boats in like weird houses and we just like take pictures in front of them?
- 1:02:54They're like, we're not too good to That was for the Aldi catalog.
- 1:02:57Yeah.
- 1:02:58They're like, we're not too good to take some photos for Aldi.
- 1:03:01Like, Haas is never going to say that they're too good for something.
- 1:03:04And I appreciate them for being self aware and just being like, we're the shitty
- 1:03:08team and we're going to do what it takes.
- 1:03:10But on the other side of that coin is Williams, who needs to fess up and quit
- 1:03:14being in denial about how they suck too, but they have a ton of pedigree
- 1:03:19behind them and actually Haas does as well, because if you go back in time and
- 1:03:22look at when it used to be Newman Haas racing, especially stateside and things
- 1:03:26like that, there is a lot of background to that brand and to that family name.
- 1:03:30But to your point, I mean, we're talking at the.
- 1:03:32The bottom of the bottom.
- 1:03:33So what do you think about them potentially becoming someone else?
- 1:03:37You know, there's all these rumors about Audi and Porsche and all this,
- 1:03:40all these musical chairs going on.
- 1:03:42I think that there'll be Haas for at least another couple of seasons until Jean is.
- 1:03:47Like, I have absolutely no more money to give to this team.
- 1:03:50I have nothing left to give.
- 1:03:52Andretti can come buy it.
- 1:03:53Yeah.
- 1:03:53And then everyone's going to say, no, Andretti, you cannot join F1.
- 1:03:57It doesn't matter, right?
- 1:03:58Because they got a team and then they don't have to worry about the money
- 1:04:01because they don't have drivers.
- 1:04:02So they can hire.
- 1:04:03Mario Andretti, we already saw that at Laguna Seca.
- 1:04:06Might as well put him in the seat and start the Andretti franchise that way.
- 1:04:10Haas is like so dysfunctional, right?
- 1:04:12I mean, to go beyond what Kate was saying.
- 1:04:14Let's go there.
- 1:04:16You know, we already talked about he might spin or excuse me, Maza spin.
- 1:04:19Mick Schumacher is on the unemployment line right next to Danny Rick.
- 1:04:23I know.
- 1:04:24Kate and I just talked about that earlier today.
- 1:04:26We recorded our weekly episode and we were just saying not looking good for Mick.
- 1:04:31So in the beginning of the season, yeah, there was a lot of crashing, but
- 1:04:35he's actually been doing really well.
- 1:04:37He hasn't done that bad.
- 1:04:39And Gunther basically gave him the ultimatum is that he had
- 1:04:41to win a race to stay at Haas.
- 1:04:43And you're like, that's not even possible.
- 1:04:47Like you're asking him to do the impossible here.
- 1:04:50But is it though?
- 1:04:52Because we speculated about this on several drive thru episodes where we said.
- 1:04:56What if you put Lewis or put Max in the Haas car to prove whether
- 1:05:00it's the drivers or the chassis?
- 1:05:02Okay, well look at how Lewis has been doing in his current car.
- 1:05:06I do not think that he would do well in the Haas at all.
- 1:05:10There's no way.
- 1:05:10There's no way.
- 1:05:11The Red Bull is like...
- 1:05:13Cheater program they've got in it.
- 1:05:14Like, yeah, I think Max is.
- 1:05:16And so this is why I think Kate and I have talked about this.
- 1:05:18Why George is 15 points ahead of Lewis is that George came from a shitty car.
- 1:05:23He's here to go from shitty to good, then good to shitty.
- 1:05:25Yeah.
- 1:05:25And so he knows he's like, this is an increase.
- 1:05:29Like, this is 10 times better than what I've been working with,
- 1:05:31so I can work magic on this.
- 1:05:33Meanwhile, Louis is so used to being ahead and winning, he doesn't
- 1:05:36know how to be in the middle of the pack in a kind of shitty car.
- 1:05:40Okay, so we'll flip it the other way.
- 1:05:42You put Mick On the test track in a Mercedes and all you need
- 1:05:46to do is look at his lap times.
- 1:05:47If he can't qualify at the same level as the current drivers of those cars,
- 1:05:52then is it the driver or the car?
- 1:05:53I mean, the proof goes either way.
- 1:05:55Well, to your point, it's harder to put Max in the Haas because the Haas
- 1:05:58is basically handicapped compared to the rest of the cars in the fleet.
- 1:06:02But again, if we flip it the other way on a private testing day.
- 1:06:05And he can't put the numbers down, then he's not qualified to be there.
- 1:06:09I agree with that.
- 1:06:10And I think that that would be a fantastic way to judge people.
- 1:06:14Everyone gets the same car.
- 1:06:15It's how it used to be done.
- 1:06:16Just throw it out there.
- 1:06:19Bring it back.
- 1:06:20Bring it back.
- 1:06:21We'll start the petition.
- 1:06:22There's a lot of upheaval.
- 1:06:23I mean, that's my outlook on the 2022 season with a lot of names disappearing.
- 1:06:28Who's going to be filling those seats?
- 1:06:29Again, you got Audi and Porsche can't figure out.
- 1:06:31Yeah.
- 1:06:32Well, no, I mean, well, Porsche.
- 1:06:34Played a game that they lost at and now they they're crying and
- 1:06:37they want back at the table.
- 1:06:39Audi is committed.
- 1:06:40I was going to say, isn't Audi coming in with a Red Bull?
- 1:06:43Did it?
- 1:06:44Sauber.
- 1:06:44Sauber.
- 1:06:45Sauber.
- 1:06:46So in 2026, they'll be here and I can't wait because now I have to root for Audi.
- 1:06:51And Ferrari and be busy.
- 1:06:55Well, you'll just have to root for whichever one is doing better.
- 1:06:58Exactly.
- 1:06:58Whoever's in the lead I'm rooting for.
- 1:07:01Until they blow up.
- 1:07:02Twice the chances to root for a number two.
- 1:07:08Again, but it's chicanery all over the place.
- 1:07:10Cause even there, some of those petitions have been, well, we're going
- 1:07:13to put stickers on the blah, blah, blah chassis with the Honda power plant.
- 1:07:17We're like, well, is that really?
- 1:07:19Horseshoe?
- 1:07:20Like, what is that, right?
- 1:07:21So, I think there's a lot of, I'm gonna, I'm gonna use a football phrase.
- 1:07:25It's a rebuilding year.
- 1:07:26So, hopefully, 23 is a better year for motorsport in
- 1:07:29general, especially Formula 1.
- 1:07:31I'm really curious to see how it turns out.
- 1:07:32Now, granted, I have my sights on the big stage right now, because...
- 1:07:36Next year is the hundredth anniversary of Lamont's.
- 1:07:38So I think that's going to eclipse a lot of things.
- 1:07:40Everybody's talking about the new cars, the new cars, new cars.
- 1:07:43Formula one came out with their new cars this past season.
- 1:07:46We'll see where that goes.
- 1:07:48So in listening to your most recent episodes, you were doing the, uh,
- 1:07:52I guess the press conference, the drivers, and you all caught Pierre
- 1:07:56taking a picture of you guys.
- 1:07:58Did you happen to get a copy of that picture?
- 1:08:01And do we know what he was taking a picture of?
- 1:08:03Yes, we did get confirmation.
- 1:08:05He was taking his be real.
- 1:08:07And now I don't know if you guys know what be real is.
- 1:08:09It's an app that basically at some time during the day, you get a notification.
- 1:08:14You have two minutes to take a photo.
- 1:08:15The story goes, you know, as you heard in the podcast, Kate and I
- 1:08:18were sitting in the room, I look up.
- 1:08:20Pierre is taking a photo.
- 1:08:23We have a bit on our podcast that Pierre is TG1F's number one fan.
- 1:08:27He's liked a handful of our Instagram photos, and this was before the
- 1:08:31heyday of liked by Pierre Gasly.
- 1:08:34We were actually also in his Miami GP photo dump as well.
- 1:08:39And so we're like, Pierre loves us.
- 1:08:41We were joking that he obviously saw us in the press conference
- 1:08:44room and had to take a photo of us.
- 1:08:46Of course.
- 1:08:47You're celebrities to him.
- 1:08:48Yeah, exactly.
- 1:08:49And he did post his Austin Grand Prix photo dump.
- 1:08:52Lo and behold, there was the be real photo.
- 1:08:54And there we were.
- 1:08:57So we're, we're two for two on USGP photo dumps for Pierre on Instagram.
- 1:09:03I think he is your number one thing.
- 1:09:05I mean, what else is there to say?
- 1:09:07Like he's not.
- 1:09:08Beating the allegations.
- 1:09:09Yeah.
- 1:09:09He's not taking pictures of other podcasts.
- 1:09:12No, no.
- 1:09:12And if he is, he's not putting them in his public photo dump.
- 1:09:18So you guys will be in the next roundup promise.
- 1:09:23So I guess shifting gears a little bit, pun intended, pun
- 1:09:26intended, totally not the formula.
- 1:09:29One cars have a traditional shifter anymore.
- 1:09:32It did in my day.
- 1:09:34I walked uphill in both directions at school.
- 1:09:36Shut up, Boomer.
- 1:09:37Old man screaming at the clouds.
- 1:09:39Freaking Boomer.
- 1:09:41I will say, I do wish they still had to use the, uh, left foot.
- 1:09:45Yeah.
- 1:09:45For clutch, because it would make the races more interesting
- 1:09:48when someone misses a shift.
- 1:09:49Yeah.
- 1:09:50Instead of calling on the radio and whining, my shifter box,
- 1:09:53can you change the program?
- 1:09:55No . Y'all are talking about Be reals.
- 1:09:57Eric doesn't know what MySpace is.
- 1:10:00be real right now.
- 1:10:01You don't know what MySpace is, ? No, he does.
- 1:10:05Okay.
- 1:10:05I was like, he jokes.
- 1:10:06He jokes.
- 1:10:06I was like, we need to have a serious conversation.
- 1:10:08I, this, I just, I just , I refuse to do TikTok just like Dr.
- 1:10:12To survive.
- 1:10:15I don't go down that, that rabbit hole.
- 1:10:17I don't do Tik Tok either.
- 1:10:19Eric's is old fashioned is the rally that he watches.
- 1:10:23Rally is still a thing.
- 1:10:25Is it?
- 1:10:27Not in the U.
- 1:10:27S.
- 1:10:28When was the last time there was a U.
- 1:10:29S.
- 1:10:29rally?
- 1:10:30That's one of the motorsport series that I want to get into.
- 1:10:32I want to get into rally racing.
- 1:10:34It needs it.
- 1:10:34It needs a drive to survive.
- 1:10:36Any motorsport needs a drive to survive.
- 1:10:39I will give you the shortcuts.
- 1:10:42Very simple.
- 1:10:43Download the Red Bull app.
- 1:10:44They condense everything for you.
- 1:10:46If you want to watch the long format, you want to get in the car with the
- 1:10:49drivers, which is super cool to watch them and the navigators doing their thing.
- 1:10:53Red Bull TV, everything's shot in 8k.
- 1:10:55Now it's like super crystal clear.
- 1:10:57It is fantastic.
- 1:10:59And I will give you one thing.
- 1:11:00If you want to find a new fan, even though he retired last year and now
- 1:11:04he's a team principal, go back and watch the in car footage of Yari Matilapala.
- 1:11:10He is known as the madman of WRC for a very good reason.
- 1:11:14I don't want to spoil it for you.
- 1:11:15Okay.
- 1:11:15I'll get into it.
- 1:11:16It's awesome.
- 1:11:17Did you get the sense of excitement?
- 1:11:19I did.
- 1:11:19And he's sold me on it.
- 1:11:21So I'm going to go do that.
- 1:11:22And then I'm going to follow up later.
- 1:11:23You guys did not sell him on Drive to Survive though.
- 1:11:26I'm going to point that out.
- 1:11:27No offense.
- 1:11:29You know what?
- 1:11:29We did our best and maybe one day we'll wear him down.
- 1:11:33Can't teach an old dog, new tricks, you know, So speaking of old dogs and
- 1:11:40new tricks, besides drive to survive and all that kind of thing, you
- 1:11:43know, from your perspective, women in motorsport, what can be done, it's been
- 1:11:48traditionally kind of a boys club, right?
- 1:11:50The old dogs.
- 1:11:51How can it be more inviting in your guys opinions?
- 1:11:54You guys are making it more inviting with your podcast.
- 1:11:57Well done.
- 1:11:58Kudos.
- 1:11:59But I guess outside of that, the greater motorsports industries,
- 1:12:03what do you think they could do?
- 1:12:04I mean, I think the first thing is just visibility.
- 1:12:06And I think there's like There are a lot of people that are out there that
- 1:12:09are like, we need more women in F1.
- 1:12:11We need more women in F1.
- 1:12:13And I think that that is fair and we probably do.
- 1:12:16But I think even more than that, we need just visibility into the women that are
- 1:12:20already in F1 that are already doing the work that are already have made it there.
- 1:12:24And we need to kind of uplift those platforms and those women.
- 1:12:28I mean, the whole thing is visibility.
- 1:12:29If you can't see it, you can't be it.
- 1:12:31And like people need to see representation in order to.
- 1:12:34Think that they have a chance and you know, not everyone needs that.
- 1:12:37Some people can just like kind of take the bull by its horns and do it.
- 1:12:40But there are so many women that are already in F1 and various leadership
- 1:12:44positions in, in various team positions that I think it's just recognizing
- 1:12:48them more and seeing them more from.
- 1:12:51The teams, Red Bull has done a good job this year of highlighting Hannah Schmitz.
- 1:12:54And I think that's been great and huge for people to actually see like recognition
- 1:12:59for someone in her position, but even press officers, even like heads of
- 1:13:03communication, Susie Wolf is doing a great job, just kind of like being more vocal
- 1:13:08and being more kind of as a figurehead.
- 1:13:10But I think it's these teams responsibility to showcase the different
- 1:13:15people that they have on their teams.
- 1:13:17Um, and give them more visibility to people so we can see kind
- 1:13:20of who's already in there.
- 1:13:21So then once we can lift those people up and show their value and their worth and
- 1:13:26show people what's already going on, then that just kind of opens the door for other
- 1:13:30people to think, I could do this and I'm going to pursue a career in this and, and
- 1:13:34try to get in there and have all of the same skills, same qualifications, and go
- 1:13:39in there and say, I'm going to do this as my career too, and not really think
- 1:13:42about it, not give it a second thought.
- 1:13:43To that point too, around visibility is like getting new fans in, right?
- 1:13:48Traditionally, like you said, it's been a boys club because I think cars
- 1:13:51are traditionally billed as a boys thing from, you know, a young age,
- 1:13:56whereas women may get into it later.
- 1:13:58And sometimes it's a little hard to approach because.
- 1:14:01You're later in life and all of these men have already been doing it and they know
- 1:14:05all this terminology and you try to ask questions and they make you feel dumb.
- 1:14:09With our spaces, like, there are no dumb questions.
- 1:14:11Doesn't matter what your level is as long as you are willing to
- 1:14:15answer other people's questions.
- 1:14:17Like, Phenomenal.
- 1:14:19We have people in our community who have interests that range from how
- 1:14:23the financials work to how the engines work and everything in between.
- 1:14:28And like, they're willing to answer any single question that anyone has,
- 1:14:33even if it's just like Why does F1 cost so much money to from like the
- 1:14:37bare bones type of questions and having these spaces where it's easy to ease
- 1:14:43in to the conversation coming from the female perspective is just very crucial.
- 1:14:48And I think, you know, F1 continuously putting out new resources about
- 1:14:51how to get into the sport and find.
- 1:14:54People to connect with is crucial.
- 1:14:57So do you think the same thing exists as you begin to investigate other
- 1:15:02motorsports, Kate mentioned MotoGP, you know, we were joking about world rally.
- 1:15:05We talked a little bit about sports car racing.
- 1:15:07There's so many different disciplines to motorsport, whether it's the off
- 1:15:10road community, drag racing, et cetera.
- 1:15:13So do you see it in the same way as formula one or have other
- 1:15:17disciplines made more strides?
- 1:15:19Honestly, I think that F1 is probably doing the best with women in the sport.
- 1:15:26And as fans, I don't think that we're seeing as much growth in the other areas,
- 1:15:32other than I would say IndyCar is a close second, because I think a lot of.
- 1:15:36Women feel that IndyCar is also very accessible and it's
- 1:15:39kind of close to Formula One.
- 1:15:42That's generally the next path for them.
- 1:15:45But I would say that all motorsport are facing the same problem is that they're
- 1:15:49not doing enough to support the female fans and not doing enough to showcase.
- 1:15:55women in leadership or higher roles within the organizations.
- 1:16:00All very valid points.
- 1:16:02I do think there's a discipline of motorsport that might actually
- 1:16:05be doing this better than IndyCar and Formula 1, and it's less
- 1:16:09recognized, although On the big stage.
- 1:16:11And that's actually sports car racing, because if you look at it, the barrier to
- 1:16:14entry for female drivers, you're right.
- 1:16:17Yes.
- 1:16:18Is a lot lower.
- 1:16:19We'll just look at last year's Lamonts with the iron dames and all
- 1:16:22the other females that are running on various teams at different levels
- 1:16:26from the production based cars to the prototypes and everything in between.
- 1:16:30So I think sports car is embracing women without making it apparent.
- 1:16:35They're just doing it without bringing attention to it.
- 1:16:38And here's my biggest.
- 1:16:39Problem with the open wheel community, it's formula W right.
- 1:16:45And as a father of girls, I look at it and go, why can't motorsport be co ed?
- 1:16:51Why does a formula W have to exist?
- 1:16:54Why aren't these women running alongside of LeClerc and Latifi?
- 1:16:58I'm sure they're all better than Latifi, you know, and so on down the
- 1:17:02line, I don't like that segregation where it's like, it's like the WNBA.
- 1:17:06Why can't they just play with the men?
- 1:17:08And I hear the excuses on, I call them excuses, the justifications
- 1:17:12and rationalizations on both sides.
- 1:17:14But to me in motor sport, motor sports always been about run what you brung.
- 1:17:18It doesn't matter who's behind the steering wheel.
- 1:17:20And I think formula one in contrast to what you were saying is actually behind
- 1:17:25the curve because formula W exists.
- 1:17:28No, I would agree with that.
- 1:17:29And Kate and I have this conversation all the time that like, I can kind
- 1:17:33of see the justification for the WNBA and the NBA because they're playing
- 1:17:37on a more physical kind of level.
- 1:17:40Whereas you're driving the car, the car is not gendered.
- 1:17:43You do not have to be a certain gender to drive a car.
- 1:17:45People always ask us about W series and like, if we like it or not.
- 1:17:49And we're like, well, we appreciate that there is something.
- 1:17:52For women, but we don't appreciate that it is seemingly lower than F3 and it is that
- 1:17:59there's no direct, no direct pipeline.
- 1:18:02Yeah, it's seemingly no one wants to support these female drivers.
- 1:18:05No one wants to give them an opportunity.
- 1:18:07And so, yes, I a hundred percent agree with you on the fact that that is.
- 1:18:11Behind it's a check the box to say we're being diverse and inclusive.
- 1:18:16Like, okay.
- 1:18:17I mean, that's across the board with basically all their initiatives.
- 1:18:19And to speak to the sports car world in terms of the path and the growth
- 1:18:25forward, there is actually a path again, they're not doing a good job of.
- 1:18:29Advertising it and putting in people's faces, but as a female driver, you're
- 1:18:33listening to this going, well, how do I get out of club racing with STCA and
- 1:18:36NASA into the world of sports car racing?
- 1:18:38If that's what you like, go to world challenge.
- 1:18:40You start touring car, and then you work your way up to GT
- 1:18:43cars and then so on the line.
- 1:18:44And then world challenge is a gateway to IMSA and WEC and so on down the line.
- 1:18:49And so there is a progression path there, but again, they're not.
- 1:18:53In my opinion, not doing the greatest job of bringing it out
- 1:18:56there and saying, Hey, look, what we've got comes back to visibility.
- 1:18:59Right.
- 1:18:59And like showing people what the options are and showcasing that this is a path
- 1:19:05forward for men, women, whatever you are.
- 1:19:09Honestly, that's kind of our hope with the growth of two girls.
- 1:19:12One formula is that we're expanding outside of just formula one and.
- 1:19:16Showcasing all of the different avenues that are possible for
- 1:19:20women in the motor sport world.
- 1:19:22But obviously we cannot do everything all at once.
- 1:19:24And so it's definitely something we're looking towards the future
- 1:19:28and helping gain some visibility for our mostly female audience to be
- 1:19:33like, here are all of the options.
- 1:19:35It's not just formula one.
- 1:19:36If you're interested in cars, like here's how you can get involved.
- 1:19:39And here's a career.
- 1:19:40Path for you.
- 1:19:42And one of the things that sort of rubs me the wrong way is when people
- 1:19:46say, well, when are we going to see the first female formula one driver?
- 1:19:49And we even talked about this not too long ago.
- 1:19:51Tanya brought it up and she's like, that already happened.
- 1:19:53Right.
- 1:19:54That happened in the seventies.
- 1:19:55Yeah.
- 1:19:56Like, what are you talking about?
- 1:19:57That's I think where I get frustrated is like, I think
- 1:20:00there's a lot of people out there.
- 1:20:01We see a lot of like content creation around, like, we need more women and
- 1:20:05we need a woman to be driving a car.
- 1:20:06And like, we need to see the first female F1 driver and
- 1:20:09like, we need all these things.
- 1:20:11And it's like, we've been there and we've had these things, so let's celebrate them.
- 1:20:15Let's talk about them.
- 1:20:17Let's bring that back into conversation so that more people
- 1:20:21know that that has happened.
- 1:20:22And then because we're talking about it, there's seen to be a demand for it.
- 1:20:27And that's only going to show people that are in power, that there's a demand for
- 1:20:31it, there's a need for it, and that people are looking for that to happen again.
- 1:20:34And I think honestly, it's just kind of disrespectful to the women that
- 1:20:38have already been there and have already done the work and have like.
- 1:20:41Done these incredible things to say like, yeah, yeah, yeah, you did that,
- 1:20:45but we need another one right now.
- 1:20:46And like, we need to be in there and like, we need more of this when it's like,
- 1:20:49don't discount what's already happened.
- 1:20:51Like, don't discount progress that's been made.
- 1:20:53And, and even if you're, hasn't been as good and like, maybe it
- 1:20:58hasn't been like prolonged and the sport hasn't taken hold of it.
- 1:21:01Like, don't take that away from the people that have already.
- 1:21:04had those accomplishments and been the first Formula One female driver or
- 1:21:08been these people that have done these things because to discount those and
- 1:21:12say that that's not enough is saying that those people are not enough.
- 1:21:16And I think that is like the problem that I have with a lot of
- 1:21:19the discourse around this topic.
- 1:21:21And I think that's where organizations like Women in Motorsports North
- 1:21:24America or WMNA who You know, it's headed up by Lynn St.
- 1:21:27James and other veteran female racers is setting itself apart from
- 1:21:31a lot of these other organizations.
- 1:21:33Like you're talking about, there may be a little bit more superficial.
- 1:21:35Look at us, look at us.
- 1:21:36You know, we're, we're starting the trend.
- 1:21:37It's like, no, the trend was started a long time ago with people like
- 1:21:41Michelle Mouton and Janet Guthrie and Lynn herself and other people.
- 1:21:45And they're like.
- 1:21:46This is how we need to do this ladies.
- 1:21:47This is how we get the job done.
- 1:21:49And so I look to those organizations as inspiration, hopefully for the future
- 1:21:53and, and that we get the word out there that it exists and that women can go
- 1:21:57there as a useful resource to building their career in the motor sports industry.
- 1:22:02Absolutely.
- 1:22:03Yeah.
- 1:22:03And to, I guess, continue this conversation, we've got another
- 1:22:06Pitstop question for you.
- 1:22:08So of all the successful women that have raced over the years, and we call
- 1:22:12them the glorious ladies of racing.
- 1:22:14Are there any on your bucket list that you'd like to meet and talk to interview
- 1:22:18with, maybe have as guests on your podcast, you know, things like that.
- 1:22:21Well, first of all, we'd obviously love to have Jamie Chadwick on the podcast because
- 1:22:26she has just been the number one champion the past three years in a row for the W
- 1:22:31series, and she's absolutely crushing it.
- 1:22:33You know, we used to joke that we were gonna get into crypto
- 1:22:38and started Dow to buy Haas.
- 1:22:40With Dogecoin.
- 1:22:40Brad's got some.
- 1:22:42Yeah, exactly.
- 1:22:43From his Cybertruck, uh, allotment.
- 1:22:44Perfect.
- 1:22:44We're gonna kick Nikita Mazpin out and instill Jamie Chadwick.
- 1:22:48This was before he got fired.
- 1:22:49You would not believe the backlash we received on the internet for this joke.
- 1:22:55We posted a reel from our podcast where we were talking about this bit,
- 1:22:59and we just got, like, decimated.
- 1:23:02By death threats of people being like, you are the stupidest people in the world.
- 1:23:07You're so like, I can't believe that you're such idiots.
- 1:23:11Like you don't even know anything.
- 1:23:12You don't know all the steps you would have to take.
- 1:23:14You can't just buy a team and put someone in there.
- 1:23:16We were like, have you literally ever heard of a joke?
- 1:23:19Have you ever looked at the history?
- 1:23:21of any of these Formula One drivers.
- 1:23:23I was like, oh my god!
- 1:23:25Yeah, like, I'm like, I'm sorry, Lance Stoll's dad bought him a team and put
- 1:23:29him in there, so like, I think I could probably do that for Jamie, alright?
- 1:23:33I'll be her dad!
- 1:23:34So, we were, it was just like, we had to delete the video because they were
- 1:23:38just like, spreading our, they were like, we hope they get cancer, we hope
- 1:23:42they die, like, it was like, so, so bad.
- 1:23:44That was a real day to be a woman on the internet talking about motorsport,
- 1:23:49but she is one of the leading ladies of the females in motorsport right now.
- 1:23:56And so I think that she would definitely be someone that we would love to
- 1:23:59talk to because we're eager to help support these women in their journey
- 1:24:04to become Formula One drivers or, you know, more professional drivers in
- 1:24:08whatever series they're looking to do.
- 1:24:10And obviously, you know, we had Danica Patrick, who's.
- 1:24:13You know, been pretty successful in her career.
- 1:24:16How can we spread the good word and, and help Jamie get to where she needs to be?
- 1:24:22I really thought Danica was going to be the next female in formula one, not to say
- 1:24:27the first, but the next, the next, yeah.
- 1:24:29I mean, it looked pretty good for her for a while there.
- 1:24:32And then she took that left turn and then she made another left turn.
- 1:24:36I had another left turn, all of the left turns.
- 1:24:38That was it.
- 1:24:39She went left, left, left, left, left.
- 1:24:41Yeah.
- 1:24:41I love Tonya Bradinger.
- 1:24:42I think she's really cool and like, is bringing a whole new
- 1:24:45vibe to women in motorsports.
- 1:24:47She's a race car driver, but she also like, has all of these like, beauty
- 1:24:50brand partnerships and has like, worked with like, fashion houses and like,
- 1:24:55is just kind of bringing like, a new Spin to motor sports and saying like,
- 1:24:59I'm a woman that drives the car, but that doesn't mean that like, I don't
- 1:25:01care about my hair and my makeup.
- 1:25:03Like I can be both and I multi dimensional and I care a lot about what
- 1:25:07I look like and do all these things.
- 1:25:09But like my job is that I drive race cars and I think she's really
- 1:25:13cool and it's kind of starting a new conversation around that.
- 1:25:16Hopefully I think more women that do that will show brands that like they
- 1:25:20can sponsor women in different ways.
- 1:25:22And it doesn't just have to be like monster energies.
- 1:25:25Sponsoring this girl, you can be kind of multifaceted as a woman.
- 1:25:31And I'm really excited to start seeing hopefully a diverse set
- 1:25:34of brands getting into the space of motorsport, which is exciting.
- 1:25:38And then obviously we'd love to talk to Susie Wolf.
- 1:25:39Like I have to talk to her someday.
- 1:25:41Like I have to have her on the podcast and I don't even want to talk about Toto.
- 1:25:45I don't.
- 1:25:46I kind of do, but I don't.
- 1:25:47I want to talk about, like, her career and, like, the steps
- 1:25:50that she's, like, carved her own path, and she's driven F1 cars.
- 1:25:53Like, she's one of the women that have done that, and, like, I think she has
- 1:25:56done a great job of keeping visibility on women, so I'm trying to talk to her.
- 1:26:01When you were mining your Bitcoin, and you were going to buy your team, you
- 1:26:06were going to put Jamie in the seat.
- 1:26:07Who else would you put in the seat?
- 1:26:09You got your team.
- 1:26:09You got to have two drivers.
- 1:26:10You got two cars.
- 1:26:10Well, it was still going to be Mick at this point.
- 1:26:13So we were just going to kick out Mazipan and keep Mick.
- 1:26:16Well, you're going to do an all female team.
- 1:26:18So you got to kick Mick out.
- 1:26:19Well, so then it was going to be Tony, Jamie and Tony.
- 1:26:22Yeah.
- 1:26:23Yeah, but why not?
- 1:26:26So would you guys go totally cliche and you'd go back to the old force
- 1:26:29India livery where they're like all pink or do something different?
- 1:26:33We did discuss that our car was going to be, we're going to bring
- 1:26:35back the bubble gum pink and it was going to be an all pink car.
- 1:26:38And we were really just going to lean into the girly vibes and
- 1:26:40we were going to get sponsors.
- 1:26:42Like I got one for you.
- 1:26:43I got one for you.
- 1:26:44Okay.
- 1:26:44Tell us.
- 1:26:45Splayed across the side.
- 1:26:46Kotex, the best.
- 1:26:49Okay.
- 1:26:49Ricky.
- 1:26:50It's Tampax, we're really lean into it.
- 1:26:54Well, it was just going to be the two girls, one formula team.
- 1:26:57We're going to hypothetically have enough money that we wouldn't
- 1:26:59need any other sponsors in this fantasy world that we had created.
- 1:27:03Yeah.
- 1:27:04That's the same thing we do when we have our three car garage fantasy.
- 1:27:07So yeah, exactly.
- 1:27:09So it's just going to be team TG1F.
- 1:27:11No other sponsors.
