  Speaker 1: your day right by taking some time with God. And remember,

  Speaker 1: the time you need to take with God, uh, the

  Speaker 1: time we spend together each morning is not enough time.

  Speaker 1: You need to have some personal time that's just you

  Speaker 1: and God. Maybe our time together each morning could just

  Speaker 1: be the kickoff for that, the starting point, and you
• 0:33
  Speaker 1: can take it from there.

  Speaker 1: But be sure you spend time with God each day
• 0:37
  Speaker 1: in your personal walk with Him.

  Speaker 1: We're looking this week at the theme of answered prayer,
• 0:45
  Speaker 1: and I want to come today to John 15, starting
• 0:50
  Speaker 1: in verse 4 and going through verse 7.

  Speaker 1: Jesus says to the disciples, Abide in me and I
• 1:00
  Speaker 1: in you.

  Speaker 1: As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it
• 1:05
  Speaker 1: abides in the vine.
• 1:08
  Speaker 1: So neither can you unless you abide in me.
• 1:13
  Speaker 1: I am the vine. You are the branches. He who
• 1:18
  Speaker 1: abides in me and I in him, he bears much fruit,
• 1:24
  Speaker 1: for apart from me you can do nothing.
• 1:27
  Speaker 1: If any one does not abide in me, he is
• 1:30
  Speaker 1: thrown away as a branch and dries up, and they
• 1:33
  Speaker 1: gather them and cast them into the fire, and they
• 1:35
  Speaker 1: are burned. But if you abide in me and my
• 1:39
  Speaker 1: words abide in you.

  Speaker 1: Ask whatever you wish.

  Speaker 1: And it shall be done for you.

  Speaker 1: Almost the same promise as we looked at yesterday in
• 1:53
  Speaker 1: the chapter before.

  Speaker 1: Ask whatever you wish and it shall be done for you.

  Speaker 1: Did you notice the two qualifiers on that? Abide in me.

  Speaker 1: And my words abide in you. Then ask whatever you wish.

  Speaker 1: Are you abiding in Jesus Christ?

  Speaker 1: At its starting place, that means you have a personal
• 2:20
  Speaker 1: living relationship with Jesus Christ.

  Speaker 1: You have turned to God from your own way of life,
• 2:26
  Speaker 1: living life, uh, on your own terms, by your own standards,
• 2:31
  Speaker 1: and you've said to God.
• 2:33
  Speaker 1: I can't live life on my own. I need you.

  Speaker 1: I know I've offended you, and there's a problem between
• 2:39
  Speaker 1: me and you because of that. But I thank you
• 2:42
  Speaker 1: for Jesus' death on the cross that pays the penalty
• 2:46
  Speaker 1: for my sin and makes a way for me to
• 2:49
  Speaker 1: be right with you. Would you come into my life
• 2:52
  Speaker 1: and make it what you want it to be? When
• 2:54
  Speaker 1: you do that, you enter into a personal relationship with God.
• 2:59
  Speaker 1: And then as you live in that relationship, to abide
• 3:02
  Speaker 1: in Christ means you continue to live each day in
• 3:06
  Speaker 1: total dependence on Him.
• 3:11
  Speaker 1: Depending on him for each and everything in your day,
• 3:15
  Speaker 1: saying to him, Lord, what do you want to do
• 3:18
  Speaker 1: through me today as you abide in Him and His
• 3:22
  Speaker 1: words abide in you.
• 3:26
  Speaker 1: That is God's principles, God's values, God's way of looking
• 3:33
  Speaker 1: at life that's revealed in Scripture. If that permeates your
• 3:37
  Speaker 1: life and you are walking in a healthy relationship with God, then.
• 3:42
  Speaker 1: Ask whatever you wish. You notice you have to ask.

  Speaker 1: Prayer is not an optional activity. It is a necessary
• 3:51
  Speaker 1: part of being a follower of Jesus Christ. Ask.
• 3:56
  Speaker 1: When your mind is renewed by God's word.
• 3:59
  Speaker 1: And you are living in close relationship with God, then
• 4:02
  Speaker 1: you're asking flows out of your relationship with him.

  Speaker 1: It's what's on his heart too, and so of course
• 4:10
  Speaker 1: that's what he wants to do. Ask whatever you wish,
• 4:14
  Speaker 1: and it will be done for you. Don't focus on
• 4:17
  Speaker 1: that as if it's like rubbing the genie bottle to
• 4:20
  Speaker 1: get what you want. No, focus on abiding in Christ
• 4:25
  Speaker 1: and His words, abiding in you, saturating your life and mind.
