- 0:00Speaker 1: Mosiah chapter twenty four. And it came to pass that
- 0:04Speaker 1: Amulan did gain favor in the eyes of the King
- 0:06Speaker 1: of the Lamanites. Therefore, the King of the Lamanites granted
- 0:09Speaker 1: unto him and his brethren, that they should be appointed
- 0:12Speaker 1: teachers over his people, yea, even over the people who
- 0:15Speaker 1: were in the land of Shemlan, and in the land
- 0:18Speaker 1: of Shylem, and in the land of Amulon. For the
- 0:21Speaker 1: Lamanites had taken possession of all these lands. Therefore the
- 0:24Speaker 1: King of the Lamanites had appointed kings over all these lands.
- 0:28Speaker 1: And now the name of the King of the Lamanites
- 0:30Speaker 1: was Layman, being called after the name of his father.
- 0:33Speaker 1: And therefore he was called King Layman. And he was
- 0:36Speaker 1: king over a numerous people. And he appointed teachers of
- 0:40Speaker 1: the brethren of Amulon in every land which was possessed
- 0:42Speaker 1: by his people. And thus the language of Nephi began
- 0:46Speaker 1: to be taught among all the people of the Lamanites.
- 0:49Speaker 1: And they were a people friendly one with another. Nevertheless,
- 0:52Speaker 1: they knew not God. Neither did the brethren of Amulan
- 0:55Speaker 1: teach them anything concerning the Lord their God, neither the
- 0:59Speaker 1: Law of Moses, nor did they teach them the words
- 1:01Speaker 1: of Abinedai. But they taught them that they should keep
- 1:04Speaker 1: their record, and that they might write one to another.
- 1:08Speaker 1: And thus the Lamanites began to increase in riches and
- 1:11Speaker 1: began to trade one with another in wax great and
- 1:14Speaker 1: began to be a cunning and a wise people. As
- 1:16Speaker 1: to the wisdom of the world, yea a very cunning people,
- 1:20Speaker 1: delighting in all manner of wickedness and plunder, except it
- 1:23Speaker 1: were among their own brethren. And now it came to
- 1:26Speaker 1: pass that Amulan began to exercise authority over Alma and
- 1:30Speaker 1: his brethren, and began to persecute him, and cause that
- 1:33Speaker 1: his children should persecute their children. For Amulon knew Alma
- 1:38Speaker 1: that he had been one of the king's priests, and
- 1:41Speaker 1: that it was he that believed the words of Abindai
- 1:44Speaker 1: and was driven out before the king. And therefore he
- 1:47Speaker 1: was wroth with him, for he was subject to King Layman.
- 1:51Speaker 1: Yet he exercised authority over them, and put tasks upon them,
- 1:55Speaker 1: and put task masters over them. And it came to
- 1:58Speaker 1: pass that so great were their afflats that they begin
- 2:01Speaker 1: to cry mightily to God. And Ambulan commanded them that
- 2:04Speaker 1: they should stop their cries, and he put guards over
- 2:07Speaker 1: them to watch them, that whosoever should be found calling
- 2:10Speaker 1: upon God should be put to death. And Alma and
- 2:13Speaker 1: his people did not raise their voices to the Lord
- 2:15Speaker 1: their God, but did pour out their hearts to him.
- 2:19Speaker 1: And He did know the thoughts of their hearts. And
- 2:22Speaker 1: it came to pass that the voice of the Lord
- 2:24Speaker 1: came to them in their afflictions, saying, lift up your
- 2:27Speaker 1: heads and be of good comfort, for I know of
- 2:30Speaker 1: the covenant which ye have made unto me. And I
- 2:33Speaker 1: will covenant with my people and deliver them out of bondage.
- 2:36Speaker 1: And I will also ease the burdens which are put
- 2:39Speaker 1: upon your shoulders, that even you cannot feel them upon
- 2:42Speaker 1: your backs, even while you are in bondage. And this
- 2:45Speaker 1: will I do, that ye may stand as witnesses for
- 2:48Speaker 1: me hereafter, and that ye may know of a surety
- 2:51Speaker 1: that I, the Lord God, do visit my people in
- 2:53Speaker 1: their afflictions. And now it came to pass that the
- 2:56Speaker 1: burdens which were laid upon Almah and his brethren were
- 3:00Speaker 1: made light. Yea, the Lord did strengthen them that they
- 3:03Speaker 1: could bear up their burdens with ease, and they did
- 3:06Speaker 1: submit cheerfully and with patience to all the will of
- 3:09Speaker 1: the Lord. And it came to pass that so great
- 3:12Speaker 1: was their faith and their patience, that the voice of
- 3:14Speaker 1: the Lord came unto them again, saying, be of good comfort,
- 3:19Speaker 1: for on the morrow I will deliver you out of bondage.
- 3:22Speaker 1: And he said unto Alma, thou shalt go before this people,
- 3:25Speaker 1: and I will go with thee and deliver this people
- 3:27Speaker 1: out of bondage. Now it came to pass that Alma
- 3:30Speaker 1: and his people, in the night time gathered their flocks together,
- 3:34Speaker 1: and also of their grain Yea. Even all the night
- 3:37Speaker 1: time were they gathering the flocks together. And in the
- 3:40Speaker 1: morning the Lord caused a deep sleep to come upon
- 3:42Speaker 1: the Lamanites. Yea and all their task masters were in
- 3:46Speaker 1: a profound sleep. And Alma and his people departed into
- 3:50Speaker 1: the wilderness. And when they had traveled all day, they
- 3:53Speaker 1: pitched their tents in a valley, and they called the
- 3:55Speaker 1: valley Alma, because he led their way in the wilderness.
- 3:59Speaker 1: And in the valley Alma, they poured out their thanks
- 4:02Speaker 1: to God because he had been merciful unto them and
- 4:05Speaker 1: eased their burdens and had delivered them out of bondage,
- 4:08Speaker 1: for they were in bondage, and none could deliver them
- 4:11Speaker 1: except it were the Lord their God. And they gave
- 4:14Speaker 1: thanks to God yea. All their men and all their women,
- 4:17Speaker 1: and all their children that could speak lifted their voices
- 4:20Speaker 1: in the praises of their God. And now the Lord said,
- 4:24Speaker 1: unto Almah, haste thee, and get thou in this people
- 4:27Speaker 1: out of this land, for the Lamanites have awakened and
- 4:29Speaker 1: do pursue Thee. Therefore, get THEE out of this land,
- 4:33Speaker 1: and I will stop the Lamanites in this valley, that
- 4:35Speaker 1: they come no further in pursuit of this people. And
- 4:39Speaker 1: it came to pass that they departed out of the
- 4:41Speaker 1: valley and took their journey into the wilderness. And after
- 4:45Speaker 1: they had been in the wilderness twelve days, they arrived
- 4:48Speaker 1: in the land of Zarahemla, and King Mosiah did also
- 4:51Speaker 1: received them with joy Mosaiah chapter twenty five. And now
- 5:01Speaker 1: King Mosiah caused that all the people should be gathered together.
- 5:04Speaker 1: Now there were not so many of the children of Nephi,
- 5:07Speaker 1: or so many of those who were descendants of Nephi,
- 5:09Speaker 1: as there were of the people of Zarahemla, who was
- 5:12Speaker 1: a descendant of Meulik, and those who came with him
- 5:14Speaker 1: into the wilderness. And there were not so many of
- 5:17Speaker 1: the people of Nephi and of the people of Zarahemla
- 5:20Speaker 1: as there were of the Lamanites. Yea, they were not
- 5:23Speaker 1: half so numerous. And now all the people of Nephi
- 5:26Speaker 1: were assembled together, and also all the people of Zarahemla.
- 5:30Speaker 1: And they were gathered together in two bodies. And it
- 5:33Speaker 1: came to pass that Mosiah did read and cause to
- 5:35Speaker 1: be read the records of Zenop to his people. Yea.
- 5:38Speaker 1: He read the records of the people of Zenith from
- 5:41Speaker 1: the time that they left the land of Zarahemla until
- 5:43Speaker 1: they returned again. And he also read the account of
- 5:46Speaker 1: Alma and his brethren and all their afflictions, from the
- 5:49Speaker 1: time that they left the land of Zarahemla until the
- 5:51Speaker 1: time they returned again. And now, when Mosiah had made
- 5:54Speaker 1: an end of reading the records, his people who tarried
- 5:57Speaker 1: in the land were struck with wonder and amazement, for
- 6:00Speaker 1: they knew not what to think. For when they beheld
- 6:03Speaker 1: those that had been delivered out of bondage, they were
- 6:05Speaker 1: filled with exceedingly great joy. And again when they thought
- 6:09Speaker 1: of their brethren who had been slain by the Lamanites,
- 6:12Speaker 1: they were filled with sorrow and even shed many tears
- 6:16Speaker 1: of sorrow. And again when they thought of the immediate
- 6:19Speaker 1: goodness of God and his power in delivering Alma and
- 6:22Speaker 1: his brethren out of the hands of the Lamanites and
- 6:25Speaker 1: a bondage, they did raise their voices and give thanks
- 6:28Speaker 1: to God. And again when they thought upon the Lamanites,
- 6:31Speaker 1: who were their brethren, of their sinful and polluted state,
- 6:34Speaker 1: they were filled with pain and anguish for the welfare
- 6:37Speaker 1: of their souls. And it came to pass that those
- 6:40Speaker 1: who were the children of Ambulon and his brethren, who
- 6:43Speaker 1: had taken to wife the daughters of the Lamanites, were
- 6:45Speaker 1: displeased with the conduct of their fathers, and they would
- 6:48Speaker 1: no longer be called by the names of their fathers. Therefore,
- 6:51Speaker 1: they took upon themselves the name of Nephi, that they
- 6:54Speaker 1: might be called the children of Nephi and be numbered
- 6:57Speaker 1: among those who were called Nephites. And now all the
- 7:01Speaker 1: people of Zarahemla were numbered with the Nephites. And this
- 7:04Speaker 1: because the kingdom had been conferred upon none but those
- 7:07Speaker 1: who were descendants of Nephi. And now it came to
- 7:10Speaker 1: pass that when Mosiah had made an end of speaking
- 7:12Speaker 1: and reading to the people, he desired that Alma should
- 7:16Speaker 1: also speak to the people. And Alma did speak unto
- 7:19Speaker 1: them when they were assembled together in large bodies, and
- 7:22Speaker 1: he went from one body to another, preaching unto the
- 7:25Speaker 1: people repentance and faith on the Lord. And he did
- 7:28Speaker 1: exhort the people of Limhai and his brethren, all those
- 7:32Speaker 1: who had been delivered out of bondage, that they should
- 7:34Speaker 1: remember that it was the Lord that did deliver them.
- 7:37Speaker 1: And it came to pass that after Alma had taught
- 7:39Speaker 1: the people many things and had made an end of
- 7:42Speaker 1: speaking to them, that King Limhai was desirous that he
- 7:45Speaker 1: might be baptized, and all his people were desirous that
- 7:48Speaker 1: they might be baptized. Also, therefore Alma did go forth
- 7:52Speaker 1: into the water and did baptize them. Yea, he did
- 7:55Speaker 1: baptize them after the manner he did his brethren in
- 7:58Speaker 1: the waters of Mormon. Yea. And as many as he
- 8:00Speaker 1: did baptized, did belong to the Church of God. And
- 8:03Speaker 1: this because of their belief on the words of Alma.
- 8:06Speaker 1: And it came to pass that King Mosiah granted unto
- 8:09Speaker 1: Alma that he might establish churches throughout all the land
- 8:12Speaker 1: of Zarahemla. And he gave him power to ordain priests
- 8:15Speaker 1: and teachers over every church. Now this was done because
- 8:18Speaker 1: there were so many people that they could not all
- 8:20Speaker 1: be governed by one teacher, neither could they all hear
- 8:23Speaker 1: the word of God in one assembly. Therefore they did
- 8:26Speaker 1: assemble themselves together in different bodies, being called churches, every
- 8:30Speaker 1: church having their priests and their teachers, and every priest
- 8:33Speaker 1: preaching the word according as it was delivered to him
- 8:36Speaker 1: by the mouth of Alma. And thus, notwithstanding there being
- 8:40Speaker 1: many churches, they were all one church, yea, even the
- 8:43Speaker 1: Church of God. For there was nothing preached in all
- 8:46Speaker 1: the churches except it were repentance and faith in God.
- 8:50Speaker 1: And now there were seven churches in the land of Zarahemla.
- 8:53Speaker 1: And it came to pass that whosoever were desirous to
- 8:56Speaker 1: take upon them the name of Christ or of God,
- 8:58Speaker 1: they did join the churches of God, and they were
- 9:01Speaker 1: called the People of God. And the Lord did pour
- 9:04Speaker 1: out his spirit upon them, and they were blessed and
- 9:07Speaker 1: prospered in the Land Mosiah, chapter twenty six. And now
- 9:14Speaker 1: it came to pass that there were many of the
- 9:15Speaker 1: rising generation that could not understand the words of King Benjamin,
- 9:19Speaker 1: being little children at the time he spake unto his people,
- 9:22Speaker 1: and they did not believe the tradition of their fathers.
- 9:25Speaker 1: They did not believe what had been said concerning the
- 9:28Speaker 1: resurrection of the dead. Neither did they believe concerning the
- 9:31Speaker 1: coming of Christ. And now because of their unbelief, they
- 9:35Speaker 1: could not understand the word of God, and their hearts
- 9:38Speaker 1: were hardened, and they would not be baptized. Neither would
- 9:42Speaker 1: they join the church. And they were a separate people
- 9:45Speaker 1: as to their faith, and remained so ever after, even
- 9:47Speaker 1: in their carnal and sinful state, for they would not
- 9:51Speaker 1: call upon the Lord their God. And now in the
- 9:53Speaker 1: reign of Mosiah, they were not half so numerous as
- 9:56Speaker 1: the people of God. But because of the dissensions among
- 9:59Speaker 1: the brother and they became more numerous. For it came
- 10:03Speaker 1: to pass that they to deceive many with their flattering
- 10:05Speaker 1: words who were in the church, and had caused them
- 10:07Speaker 1: to commit many sins. Therefore, it became expedient that those
- 10:11Speaker 1: who committed sin that were in the church should be
- 10:14Speaker 1: admonished by the church. And it came to pass that
- 10:17Speaker 1: they were brought before the priests and delivered up unto
- 10:20Speaker 1: the priests by the teachers, and the priests brought them
- 10:22Speaker 1: before Alma, who was the high priest. Now King Mosiah
- 10:26Speaker 1: had given Alma the authority over the church. And it
- 10:28Speaker 1: came to pass that Almah did not know concerning them.
- 10:32Speaker 1: But there were many witnesses against them. Yea. The people
- 10:35Speaker 1: stood and testified of their iniquity and abundance. Now there
- 10:38Speaker 1: had not any such thing happened before in the church.
- 10:42Speaker 1: Therefore Almah was troubled in his spirit, and he caused
- 10:44Speaker 1: that they should be brought before the king. And he said,
- 10:47Speaker 1: unto the King, behold, here are many whom we have
- 10:50Speaker 1: brought before THEE who are accused of their brethren. Yea.
- 10:53Speaker 1: And they have been taken in diverse iniquities, and they
- 10:56Speaker 1: do not repent of their iniquities. Therefore we have brought
- 10:59Speaker 1: them before Thee, that thou mayest judge them according to
- 11:02Speaker 1: their crimes. But King Mosiah said, unto Almah, behold, I
- 11:06Speaker 1: judge them not. Therefore I deliver them into thy hands
- 11:10Speaker 1: to be judged. And now the spirit of Almah was
- 11:13Speaker 1: again troubled, and he went and inquired of the Lord
- 11:16Speaker 1: what he should do concerning this matter, for he feared
- 11:19Speaker 1: that he should do wrong in the sight of God.
- 11:22Speaker 1: And it came to pass that, after he had poured
- 11:24Speaker 1: out his whole soul to God, the voice of the
- 11:26Speaker 1: Lord came to him, saying, blessed art thou Almah, And
- 11:31Speaker 1: blessed are they who were baptized in the waters of Mormon.
- 11:35Speaker 1: Thou art blessed because of thy exceeding faith in the
- 11:37Speaker 1: words alone of my servant Tobinaedai. And blessed are they
- 11:42Speaker 1: because of their exceeding faith and the words alone which
- 11:44Speaker 1: thou hast spoken unto them. And blessed art thou because
- 11:48Speaker 1: thou hast established a church among this people, and they
- 11:52Speaker 1: shall be established, and they shall be my people. YEA,
- 11:56Speaker 1: blessed is this people who are willing to bear my name.
- 11:59Speaker 1: For my name shall they be called, and they are mine.
- 12:04Speaker 1: And because thou hast inquired of me concerning the transgressor
- 12:08Speaker 1: thou art blessed Thou art my servant, and I covenant
- 12:12Speaker 1: with Thee that thou shalt have eternal life, and thou
- 12:15Speaker 1: shalt serve me, and go forth in my name, and
- 12:19Speaker 1: shalt gather together my sheep, and he that will hear
- 12:23Speaker 1: my voice shall be my sheep. And him shall ye
- 12:25Speaker 1: receive unto the church, And him will I also receive.
- 12:30Speaker 1: For behold, this is my church. Whosoever is baptized, shall
- 12:33Speaker 1: be baptized unto repentance. And whomsoever ye receive, shall believe
- 12:38Speaker 1: in my name. And him will I freely forgive. For
- 12:42Speaker 1: it is I that taketh upon me the sins of
- 12:44Speaker 1: the world. For it is I that hath created them.
- 12:49Speaker 1: And it is I that granteth unto him that believeth
- 12:52Speaker 1: unto the end a place at my right hand. For behold,
- 12:56Speaker 1: in my name are they called, And if they know me,
- 13:00Speaker 1: shall come forth and shall have a place eternally at
- 13:02Speaker 1: my right hand. And it shall come to pass that
- 13:06Speaker 1: when the second trump shall sound, then shall they that
- 13:09Speaker 1: never knew me come forth and shall stand before me.
- 13:13Speaker 1: And then shall they know that I am the Lord
- 13:15Speaker 1: their God, that I am their redeemer. But they would
- 13:19Speaker 1: not be redeemed. And then I will confess unto them
- 13:24Speaker 1: that I never knew them, and they shall depart into
- 13:27Speaker 1: everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels. Therefore
- 13:32Speaker 1: I say unto you that he that will not hear
- 13:35Speaker 1: my voice, the same shall ye not receive into my church.
- 13:39Speaker 1: For him I will not receive at the last day.
- 13:43Speaker 1: Therefore I say unto you, go, and whosoever transgresseth against me,
- 13:48Speaker 1: him shall ye judge according to the sins which he
- 13:51Speaker 1: has committed. And if he confess his sins before THEE
- 13:55Speaker 1: and me and repenteth in the sincerity of his heart,
- 13:59Speaker 1: him shall shall ye forgive. And I will forgive him also, yea.
- 14:04Speaker 1: And as often as my people repent, will I forgive
- 14:07Speaker 1: them their trespasses against me? And ye shall also forgive
- 14:12Speaker 1: one another your trespasses. For verily, I say unto you,
- 14:16Speaker 1: he that forgiveth not his neighbor's trespasses when he says
- 14:20Speaker 1: that he repents, the same hath brought himself under condemnation.
- 14:25Speaker 1: Now I say unto you, go, and whosoever will not
- 14:29Speaker 1: repent of his sins, the same shall not be numbered
- 14:32Speaker 1: among my people. And this shall be observed from this
- 14:35Speaker 1: time forward. And it came to pass when Almah had
- 14:40Speaker 1: heard these words, he wrote them down that he might
- 14:42Speaker 1: have them and that he might judge the people of
- 14:45Speaker 1: that church according to the commandments of God. And it
- 14:48Speaker 1: came to pass that Almah went and judged those that
- 14:51Speaker 1: had been taken in iniquity according to the word of
- 14:53Speaker 1: the Lord. And whosoever repented of their sins and did
- 14:57Speaker 1: confess them, he did number among the people of the church.
- 15:02Speaker 1: And those that would not confess their sins and repent
- 15:04Speaker 1: of their iniquity, the same were not numbered among the
- 15:07Speaker 1: people of the Church, and their names were blotted out.
- 15:10Speaker 1: And it came to pass that Almah did regulate all
- 15:13Speaker 1: the affairs of the church, and they began again to
- 15:15Speaker 1: have peace and to prosper exceedingly in the affairs of
- 15:18Speaker 1: the church, walking circumspectly before God, receiving many and baptizing many.
- 15:25Speaker 1: And now all these things did Alma and his fellow
- 15:28Speaker 1: laborers do, who were over the church, walking in all diligence,
- 15:32Speaker 1: teaching the word of God in all things, suffering all
- 15:35Speaker 1: manner of afflictions, being persecuted by those who did not
- 15:39Speaker 1: belong to the Church of God. And they did admonish
- 15:42Speaker 1: their brethren. And they were also admonished every one by
- 15:46Speaker 1: the word of God according to his sins or to
- 15:49Speaker 1: the sins which he had committed, being commanded of God
- 15:52Speaker 1: to pray without ceasing and to give thanks in all
- 15:56Speaker 1: things Moi Zaiah, chapter twenty seven. And now it came
- 16:03Speaker 1: to pass that the persecutions which were inflicted on the
- 16:06Speaker 1: Church by the unbelievers became so great that the church
- 16:09Speaker 1: began to murmur and complain to their leaders concerning the matter.
- 16:13Speaker 1: And they did complain to Alma, and Almah laid the
- 16:16Speaker 1: case before their king Mosiah, and Mosiah consulted with his priests,
- 16:21Speaker 1: and it came to pass that King Mosiah sent a
- 16:23Speaker 1: proclamation throughout the land round about that there should not
- 16:26Speaker 1: any unbeliever persecute any of those who belonged to the
- 16:30Speaker 1: Church of God. And there was a strict command throughout
- 16:33Speaker 1: all the churches that there should be no persecutions among them,
- 16:37Speaker 1: that there should be an equality among all men, that
- 16:41Speaker 1: they should let no pride nor haughtiness disturb their peace.
- 16:45Speaker 1: That every man should esteem his neighbor as himself, laboring
- 16:48Speaker 1: with their own hands for their support yea. And all
- 16:52Speaker 1: their priests and teachers should labor with their own hands
- 16:55Speaker 1: for their support in all cases, save it were in
- 16:58Speaker 1: sickness or in much want, and doing these things they
- 17:02Speaker 1: did abound in the grace of God, and there began
- 17:05Speaker 1: to be much peace again in the land. And the
- 17:07Speaker 1: people began to be very numerous, and began to scatter
- 17:10Speaker 1: abroad upon the face of the earth, yea on the
- 17:13Speaker 1: north and on the south, on the east and on
- 17:15Speaker 1: the west, building large cities and villages in all quarters
- 17:19Speaker 1: of the land. And the Lord did visit them and
- 17:22Speaker 1: prosper them, and they became a large and wealthy people.
- 17:27Speaker 1: Now the sons of Mosiah were numbered among the unbelievers,
- 17:31Speaker 1: and also one of the sons of Alma was numbered
- 17:33Speaker 1: among them, he being called Alma after his father. Nevertheless,
- 17:38Speaker 1: he became a very wicked and an idolatrous man, and
- 17:41Speaker 1: he was a man of many words, and did speak
- 17:43Speaker 1: much flattery to the people. Therefore, he led many of
- 17:47Speaker 1: the people to do after the manner of his iniquities,
- 17:51Speaker 1: and he became a great hinderment to the prosperity of
- 17:54Speaker 1: the Church of God, stealing away the hearts of the people,
- 17:58Speaker 1: causing much dissension among them people, giving a chance for
- 18:01Speaker 1: the enemy of God to exercise his power over them.
- 18:05Speaker 1: And now it came to pass that while he was
- 18:08Speaker 1: going about to destroy the Church of God. For he
- 18:11Speaker 1: did go about secretly with the sons of Mosiah, seeking
- 18:14Speaker 1: to destroy the Church and to lead astray the people
- 18:16Speaker 1: of the Lord, contrary to the commandments of God or
- 18:19Speaker 1: even the King. And as I said unto you, as
- 18:23Speaker 1: they were going about rebelling against God, behold, the Angel
- 18:27Speaker 1: of the Lord appeared unto them, and he descended, as
- 18:30Speaker 1: it were, in a cloud. And he spake, as it were,
- 18:33Speaker 1: with a voice of thunder, which caused the earth to
- 18:35Speaker 1: shake upon which they stood. And so great was their
- 18:39Speaker 1: astonishment that they fell to the earth and understood not
- 18:43Speaker 1: the words which he spake unto them. Nevertheless, he cried again, saying, Almah,
- 18:49Speaker 1: arise and stand forth, for why persecutest thou the Church
- 18:53Speaker 1: of God? For the Lord Hath said, this is my church,
- 18:57Speaker 1: and I will establish it, and nothing shall I'll overthrow it,
- 19:00Speaker 1: save it is the transgression of my people. And again
- 19:04Speaker 1: the Angel said, beholds the Lord Hath heard the prayers
- 19:08Speaker 1: of his people and also the prayers of his servant, Almah,
- 19:12Speaker 1: who is thy Father, For he has prayed with much
- 19:15Speaker 1: faith concerning thee that thou mightest be brought to the
- 19:19Speaker 1: knowledge of the truth Therefore, for this purpose have I
- 19:23Speaker 1: come to convince thee of the power and authority of God,
- 19:26Speaker 1: that the prayers of his servants might be answered according
- 19:30Speaker 1: to their faith. And now behold, can ye dispute the
- 19:34Speaker 1: power of God? For behold, doth not my voice shake
- 19:37Speaker 1: the earth? And can ye not also behold me before you?
- 19:42Speaker 1: And I am sent from God. Now I say unto thee,
- 19:45Speaker 1: go and remember the captivity of thy fathers in the
- 19:48Speaker 1: land of Helim and in the land of Nephi. And
- 19:52Speaker 1: remember how great things He has done for them, for
- 19:55Speaker 1: they were in bondage, and he has delivered them. And
- 19:59Speaker 1: now I say unto thee Almah, go thy way and
- 20:02Speaker 1: seek to destroy the church no more, that their prayers
- 20:06Speaker 1: may be answered. And this even if thou wilt of
- 20:09Speaker 1: thyself be cast off. And now it came to pass
- 20:14Speaker 1: that these were the last words which the angel spake
- 20:16Speaker 1: andto Alma, and he departed. And now Alma and those
- 20:21Speaker 1: that were with him fell again to the earth. For
- 20:24Speaker 1: great was their astonishment, For with their own eyes they
- 20:28Speaker 1: had beheld an angel of the Lord, and his voice
- 20:31Speaker 1: was as thunder which shook the earth. And they knew
- 20:34Speaker 1: that there was nothing save the power of God that
- 20:37Speaker 1: could shake the earth and cause it to tremble, as
- 20:40Speaker 1: though it would part asunder. And now the astonishment of
- 20:43Speaker 1: Alma was so great that he became dumb that he
- 20:47Speaker 1: could not open his mouth yea, and he became weak
- 20:51Speaker 1: even that he could not move his hands. Therefore he
- 20:54Speaker 1: was taken by those that were with him, and carried
- 20:57Speaker 1: helpless even until he was laid before his father. And
- 21:02Speaker 1: they rehearsed unto his father all that had happened unto them,
- 21:05Speaker 1: And his father rejoiced, for he knew that it was
- 21:08Speaker 1: the power of God. And he caused that a multitude
- 21:11Speaker 1: should be gathered together, that they might witness what the
- 21:14Speaker 1: Lord had done for his son, and also for those
- 21:17Speaker 1: that were with him. And he caused that the priests
- 21:21Speaker 1: should assemble themselves together, and they began to fast and
- 21:25Speaker 1: to pray to the Lord their God, that he would
- 21:28Speaker 1: open the mouth of Alma, that he might speak, and
- 21:31Speaker 1: also that his limbs might receive their strength, that the
- 21:34Speaker 1: eyes of the people might be opened to see and
- 21:36Speaker 1: know of the goodness and glory of God. And it
- 21:40Speaker 1: came to pass after they had fasted and prayed for
- 21:42Speaker 1: the space of two days, and two nights, the limbs
- 21:46Speaker 1: of Alma received their strength, and he stood up and
- 21:49Speaker 1: began to speak unto them, bidding them to be of
- 21:51Speaker 1: good comfort. For said he, I have repented of my
- 21:56Speaker 1: sins and have been redeemed of the Lord. Behold, I
- 21:59Speaker 1: am born of the Spirit. And the Lord said unto me,
- 22:03Speaker 1: marvel not that all mankind, yea, men and women, all nations, kindreds, tongues,
- 22:08Speaker 1: and people must be born again, yea, born of God,
- 22:12Speaker 1: changed from their carnal and fallen state to a state
- 22:15Speaker 1: of righteousness, being redeemed of God, becoming His sons and daughters.
- 22:21Speaker 1: And thus they become new creatures. And unless they do this,
- 22:24Speaker 1: they can in no wise inherit the Kingdom of God.
- 22:28Speaker 1: I say unto you. Unless this be the case, they
- 22:31Speaker 1: must be cast off. And this I know because I
- 22:35Speaker 1: was like to be cast off. Nevertheless, after wading through
- 22:38Speaker 1: much tribulations, repenting nigh unto death, the Lord in mercy
- 22:43Speaker 1: hath seen fit to snatch me out of an everlasting burning.
- 22:47Speaker 1: And I am born of God. My soul hath been
- 22:50Speaker 1: redeemed from the gall of bitterness and bonds of iniquity.
- 22:55Speaker 1: I was in the darkest abyss But now I behold
- 22:59Speaker 1: the marvelous light of God. My soul was racked with
- 23:02Speaker 1: eternal torment. But I am snatched, and my soul is
- 23:07Speaker 1: pained no more. I rejected my redeemer and denied that
- 23:12Speaker 1: which had been spoken of by our fathers. But now
- 23:15Speaker 1: that they may foresee that he will come, and that
- 23:19Speaker 1: he remembereth every creature of his creating, he will make
- 23:22Speaker 1: himself manifest unto all. Yea, every knee shall bow, and
- 23:26Speaker 1: every tongue confess before him. Yea, Even at the last day,
- 23:30Speaker 1: when all men shall stand to be judged of him,
- 23:33Speaker 1: then shall they confess that he is God. Then shall
- 23:37Speaker 1: they confess, who live without God in the world, that
- 23:40Speaker 1: the judgment of an everlasting punishment is just upon them,
- 23:44Speaker 1: And they shall quake and tremble and shrink beneath the
- 23:48Speaker 1: glance of His all searching eye. And now it came
- 23:52Speaker 1: to pass that Almah began from this time forward to
- 23:55Speaker 1: teach the people and those who were with Alma at
- 23:57Speaker 1: the time the angel appeared unto them, traveling round about
- 24:00Speaker 1: through all the land, publishing to all the people the
- 24:03Speaker 1: things which they had heard and seen, and preaching the
- 24:06Speaker 1: word of God in much tribulation, being greatly persecuted by
- 24:10Speaker 1: those who were unbelievers, being smitten by many of them.
- 24:15Speaker 1: But notwithstanding all this, they did impart much consolation to
- 24:19Speaker 1: the Church, confirming their faith and exhorting them with long
- 24:23Speaker 1: suffering and much travail to keep the commandments of God.
- 24:28Speaker 1: And four of them were the sons of Mosiah, and
- 24:31Speaker 1: their names were Amon, and Arin, and Omner and Hymni.
- 24:36Speaker 1: These were the names of the sons of Mosiah. And
- 24:39Speaker 1: they traveled throughout all the lands of Zarahimla and among
- 24:43Speaker 1: all the people who were under the reign of King Mosiah,
- 24:46Speaker 1: zealously striving to repair all the injuries which they had
- 24:49Speaker 1: done to the church, confessing all their sins and publishing
- 24:54Speaker 1: all the things which they had seen, and explaining the
- 24:57Speaker 1: prophecies and the scriptures to all who desired to s
- 25:00Speaker 1: hear them. And thus they were instruments in the hands
- 25:03Speaker 1: of God in bringing many to the knowledge of the
- 25:06Speaker 1: truth yea to the knowledge of their redeemer. And how
- 25:10Speaker 1: blessed are they, for they did publish peace, they did
- 25:14Speaker 1: publish good tidings of good and they did declare unto
- 25:18Speaker 1: the people that the Lord reigneth end of Mosiah Chapters
- 25:23Speaker 1: twenty four through twenty seven,
