Transcript
- 0:00Hello, there. It's time for most things
- 0:04Kenobi. Hi everyone, welcome to another
- 0:19episode of most things Kenobi. A podcast about Obi-Wan Kenobi
- 0:22and all things. Star Wars.
- 0:24I'm your host Leanne and I'm your host Lauren.
- 0:26Hey, we're together. We're literally sitting across
- 0:31the table from each other. Yes, which might explain why our
- 0:33audio is a little different, but it should be still pretty.
- 0:36Pretty decent. I would just do some test runs.
- 0:39Yeah, try not to talk over each other.
- 0:40Well, last time when we were at your place, we were trying to
- 0:43record with two microphones in one room and it was a disaster.
- 0:46So we're trying to Different approach this time.
- 0:48Yeah, we're here to talk about us having seen robe one in
- 0:54person together at the IMAX yesterday.
- 0:58It was so good. I'm kind of still not over it.
- 1:01I know I spent like all night last night.
- 1:04Looking up, animated gifts. Yeah, because I love it so much.
- 1:08My love for those characters have been rekindled.
- 1:12I've seen it. How many times?
- 1:14I know it never gets old. It never gets old and it never.
- 1:17Ooh, fails to hurt. No.
- 1:19Oh my God! I start salute.
- 1:21You you cried more than me. I started to like get teary-eyed
- 1:25at the beginning. I was like not calm down.
- 1:28Yeah, I just let it happen then it's always around where cheer
- 1:32it. Yeah dies.
- 1:34Then I cry basically from there, all the way to the end of the
- 1:37movie and during the credits II, love everyone.
- 1:42And we have said probably a dozen times between yesterday
- 1:46and today, how they all. To better because yes, what a
- 1:49bunch of Heroes they really are. Yeah.
- 1:52So every single one of them was selfless and trying to serve a
- 1:56higher purpose and it just hurts so much.
- 2:00They tried to write their own wrongs to MMM.
- 2:03Yeah. That whole scene when Cassie and
- 2:06meets Jin after she tries to get the Rebellion to help and they
- 2:09won't. And she goes out into the hangar
- 2:11and castings there with all the soldiers.
- 2:13I wanna see the whole movie. Like, seeing it on a big screen.
- 2:16Gave me a new perspective. T''v and that scene in
- 2:18particular. I was like wow that because now
- 2:20we know what they endured short coming up.
- 2:21Hmm. Like added more weight to that
- 2:24scene seeing it on the big screen I saw stuff.
- 2:26I never really saw before I heard things I never heard
- 2:29before. It was a really fun to get to do
- 2:32it with you with you. I know.
- 2:34And I've been here for several days and it's been really nice
- 2:38time. I'm glad that was that was like
- 2:41a dream. Yeah.
- 2:43Because you and I have never seen a Star Wars movie together
- 2:45in the theater theaters and now. Make no mistake.
- 2:48We have seen Rogue one before when it was originally released
- 2:51in the theaters. But we didn't know what we know
- 2:54now. No.
- 2:55Do we even know each other? When it first came out, I don't
- 2:58see. You don't think so think so, cuz
- 2:59it was like, what was it 2016? When the yes came out?
- 3:02Yeah, we may 2017. Yeah, we started talking after
- 3:05it. Yeah, yeah.
- 3:06Mmm. That's so it's kind of Full
- 3:10Circle honestly other than like maybe Empire Strikes Back, this
- 3:13would be the movie. I want to see with you in the
- 3:15theater because I Love this movie so much.
- 3:19It's possibly. I mean obviously original
- 3:21trilogy is my favorite but I would say Empire Strikes Back.
- 3:25And then Rogue one. Probably my favorite top too.
- 3:28Yeah. I'm pretty close to that.
- 3:30I Love A New Hope. Also I'm partial to A New Hope.
- 3:32Yeah. I was going to say because it's
- 3:34the movie that got me. Right?
- 3:36Exactly. Yeah.
- 3:37The beginning of everything. So yeah but and I love Return of
- 3:40the Jedi but like it's more childish.
- 3:43Like it's fun because I loved it as a kid.
- 3:46Rogue one is not. Listen.
- 3:47Oh it's happened to all my adult feelings of pain and loss and
- 3:53sacrifice and like setting aside your own personal well-being and
- 3:58interest for the greater good. There was a moment at the end
- 4:01where I was like if I don't rein this in I'm gonna do the like
- 4:05ugly cry, I did the ugly cry, I make no apologies.
- 4:13We sent a video to our patrons of what we look like.
- 4:17Before and after yeah it was a swollen red disgusting mess
- 4:21afterwards so funny Leann got up and went to the bathroom and
- 4:25came back with a roll of toilet paper because we were both
- 4:28crying. Well, the luxury of knowing this
- 4:30movie. So well, is that I knew, which
- 4:32part I could sneak away for like, four minutes and come back
- 4:35and not miss anything. Technically and there just was
- 4:38this small, almost empty roll. And I think, you know what, I'm
- 4:42going to take apart this dispenser, take take the role,
- 4:46it was good because As I needed it, I noticed blowing was a
- 4:50necessary Thing by the editor brought tissues to know what?
- 4:53We were thinking to go to that movie with that's issues.
- 4:57It's not like we haven't seen it 10,000 times.
- 5:01It still has a good effect. Yeah, it's really good.
- 5:04The things that you notice that you don't notice, just on a
- 5:09small screen and the sound in an IMAX theater.
- 5:13Cannot be beat. Everyone knows this.
- 5:14Yes. But we haven't even talked about
- 5:17the And or preview, oh, yeah. Because they can't, that happen
- 5:20first. I'm glad we weren't late because
- 5:21we're wondering on the way there.
- 5:23Would it be at the beginning or the end, they shut it before and
- 5:26it was fucking amazing. I it was, we're not going to
- 5:30give anything away, but it starts with like a conversation
- 5:34and then it goes right into. Yeah.
- 5:37Ah, seen it extended scene. Yeah.
- 5:39And the quality of what we saw. You said it better than
- 5:44anything. We've seen any show to date and
- 5:46that includes. Beloved Kenobi show.
- 5:48It's true. Just in that one scene and like
- 5:51I we loved the cannoli show. Yeah.
- 5:53But I guess this show is not filmed on the volume that big
- 5:57Sound Stage. They actually filmed a lot more
- 5:59on location and it shows plus the actors are just fucking
- 6:05good. This is a call out to Diego
- 6:09Luna. You are beloved.
- 6:11Yes. We love your character and we
- 6:14are excited to see he's excited which makes Ice excited.
- 6:18The little conversation like where he speaks at the beginning
- 6:21a little bit. He's like swiveling in his chair
- 6:23like an excited. Child like it was really cute so
- 6:26cute and he's so passionate about it.
- 6:29So I loved what he was saying that.
- 6:30It's kind of like the story of an immigrant a story of
- 6:32Revolution and they like committed to that idea and just
- 6:36brought that person and they said in the interview and you
- 6:38and I felt you next to me, go see where he was saying it
- 6:43because it was him and Tony Tony Gilroy, right?
- 6:46That's a relief. They were saying that it's Star
- 6:48Wars. And this the thing about these
- 6:51movies is that it's about the character and character
- 6:54development and they're like, there is a certain expectation
- 6:56that there will be a certain level of action.
- 6:59But to them, the character development was what was so
- 7:01important and you and I both really yes.
- 7:05Yes, thank you precisely So now it's guaranteed to be wonderful
- 7:11because this is all we ask for, is fans.
- 7:14Yeah, I'm just that seeing the acting their eyes, everything.
- 7:19Oh my god, look Lut cars guard is a great actor.
- 7:21Also, I love his voice in her so much.
- 7:25Yeah, there's acting that goes on in the face, there's acting
- 7:28that goes on in the voice and then there's the action.
- 7:31Yeah. And it's all really good and I'm
- 7:36literally getting greased by know.
- 7:38It's, I'm I think this is the sleeper series.
- 7:42Hmm. That's gonna blow people away.
- 7:44Yeah, unexpected. And I could not be happier for
- 7:48Diego, Luna and Company. Yes.
- 7:51Mmm. Because they can go a lot of
- 7:53places with this story. It is the beginning of the
- 7:56Rebellion. They have so much more latitude,
- 7:58I think than the Obi Wan show. There's so much expectation on
- 8:03that show and like, anybody who's seen the prequels or the
- 8:06original trilogy is going to have opinions.
- 8:09How that plot should unfold with hand or they can tell whatever
- 8:16story they want and tie it in and it just has so much
- 8:19potential and I think it's kind of nice.
- 8:22Diego Luna has even said in some interviews that it's one of the
- 8:24first times. He's doing a movie that like
- 8:27they don't have to do press and promote and be like, oh, I hope
- 8:29somebody watches it. They know they're gonna have an
- 8:32audience already and they kind of more forgiveness.
- 8:36I would say in the kind of Storytelling they want to
- 8:38pursue, I'm I'm just so excited because I really trust Diego.
- 8:42Luna and Tony Gilroy our executive producers and Tony
- 8:46Gilroy wrote it. Hmm.
- 8:47And so I just really trust them at especially after re-watching,
- 8:51Rogue one. Yeah, they get it.
- 8:53Yes. Yeah.
- 8:54And I think it's going to translate very well and I always
- 8:58like when there's the anchor of, we know what happens so they can
- 9:02build a story towards the point that we already know.
- 9:05So there's less chance to like Veer off course.
- 9:09And yes, I'm not even unexpected but unnecessary be or something
- 9:14that just deviates. Totally from a character.
- 9:16We know where the character ends up in what he does.
- 9:18Yeah, so they can build properly towards getting to that point.
- 9:21Yes, which is going to make Rogue one even better, which it
- 9:25doesn't even need so good as it is.
- 9:29Well, that's why the original movies were so good.
- 9:32Because George, Lucas knew from the beginning, what he was doing
- 9:35and that's why this equals for a little bit, you know, shitting
- 9:38the bed, everything, And that disgusting phrase?
- 9:42Well, I mean, they clearly didn't have an end point.
- 9:46They were working towards. So each movie was kind of like
- 9:48pulling the characters and opposite directions until they
- 9:52settled on this one, like Hail Mary at the end and it shows
- 9:56when you don't have the ending figured out.
- 9:59Yeah, it's I'm I'm looking forward to it yesterday.
- 10:02Kind of proved that, I'm all-in. Yeah, Sam, I've been excited
- 10:08about this show because I loved Rogue one so much but now I'm
- 10:12like I can't wait. I'm so excited about this one.
- 10:16Like maybe more so than the Kenobi show because I was more
- 10:18afraid. It will.
- 10:19There no be show. I totally get that because oh
- 10:22don't fuck that up, right? Exact this be kind of like you
- 10:26said, we have more wiggle room almost.
- 10:28There's more forgiveness. Maybe, I don't know.
- 10:31I just think when you have more episodes and more money coming
- 10:35from a different pot, if you will sure you have more freedom
- 10:39to To ensure a better product. I think it is.
- 10:42And like you've said, in the past, Kenobi was a
- 10:45self-contained entity. It didn't stray too much, even
- 10:49though maybe it should have like with the mentioning of Ahsoka,
- 10:53you know. Just right just a mention she
- 10:57was kind of integral in the whole thing but God forbid a
- 11:01little to contain but this is a World building.
- 11:05We're going to get the Rebellion.
- 11:07So things were looking forward. You that we hope we see, we kind
- 11:11of loosely discussed bail. So nice to see him.
- 11:15We saw him in Rogue one yesterday after seeing him in
- 11:18the Kenobi show and we still our bail lovers promoters shippers.
- 11:26It makes me want to cry when I see him.
- 11:29Now it's awful, especially when you see him in Rogue one and
- 11:32he's leaving to go back to Alderaan and he says, I would
- 11:36trust her with my life. It's like what this is like I
- 11:41think he I have to believe that you know, when alderon said it's
- 11:47farewell that somewhere and you know, Bales heart, he knew Leo
- 11:51was okay. I mean, it happened so fast.
- 11:54No one's thinking anything, but in my head, yeah, bail new.
- 11:57Okay, Leah's got this anyway. So I mean, the, the Kenobi show,
- 12:00prove that he really understood her and, like, really trusted
- 12:04her to be her own person. So, I'm sure he.
- 12:06And at this point, he knew he was putting her In Harm's Way.
- 12:10Do that to take the tapes, you know, to fetch Obi-Wan Kenobi.
- 12:14Like he clearly knew she would handle, it just fine, and it's
- 12:18great to see all of that. Hmm, after seeing the Kenobi
- 12:22show? Yeah, we got that little bit
- 12:24more. It does, it adds more to every
- 12:26single thing? You watch now, your friend, the
- 12:29Jedi, and it's just like, we know what happens.
- 12:33Now, there's the bit more back story with bail and yeah, and
- 12:37Obi-Wan and it's, it's cool. I like it.
- 12:40It's really cool. Well, I can terribly sad shit.
- 12:45Always, if you need to purge and have a good cry, Rogue one is a
- 12:50good way to just do that. That's it.
- 12:52Get it out and bring your toilet paper.
- 12:58Also, our boy. K2s 000 is a delight.
- 13:03I love him so much. Every single line of his is just
- 13:07like, I'm waiting for it because I love it and Little shift of
- 13:11his eyes. Yes.
- 13:13I kind of like never really registered that until we saw it
- 13:16on the big screen. Big.
- 13:17Yeah. He's got a little wiggle of his
- 13:19eyes. She's a little white.
- 13:21It's like, it looks like he's thinking which of course he's a
- 13:24Droid. So it's a weird way of making
- 13:26them look more human, but oh my God, I love him, his awkward
- 13:30body, which I love so much. It's so awkward who designed
- 13:35that Droid, it gives them an A plus the hands.
- 13:40He lives. Chop his hands in his hands are
- 13:42like, half the size of his arm and they hang down, well below
- 13:46his knees, which is legs are too long.
- 13:48I mean, the whole thing is kind of crazy, but good, what kind of
- 13:53matches like his gangly Beast? Brain all?
- 13:55Yes. Because like the scene where he
- 13:58slaps get skin, he's like I'm taking the prisoners to imprison
- 14:02them in the prison. That's a fresh one so funny it's
- 14:09good. I love seeing this Giant Beast
- 14:11of a Droid not being able to think of things quickly.
- 14:15It's right overwhelmed by that's how I would be.
- 14:18Yeah I relayed without a doubt I'm just not cool Under
- 14:22Pressure. Also paging Hera syndulla no
- 14:26paging Commander General General.
- 14:28Scuse me Jesus. Can we get Hera in the and or
- 14:33show? Please just as he's just a
- 14:35smidge, they must know each other, right?
- 14:37Some point. Come on the right there in the
- 14:41same facility. I know the ghost is parked right
- 14:44there, that's name of the ship. Yes ago.
- 14:46See. It's like, wait a minute, ghost
- 14:50crew. Yeah, that's what I was like.
- 14:51That's why they're called that, right?
- 14:53But my brain just kind of like, had a moment.
- 14:56Yeah. You know what?
- 14:58We thought of yesterday? I guess, I guess, I thought of
- 15:00it and I didn't think of it. Before, or quite the same way is
- 15:04that cheer? It is very much like Kanan when
- 15:07Canaan loses his eyesight. Yes.
- 15:09Hey, love him so much. Here it is.
- 15:12Goddamn I, first of all, the performance, everyone knows it's
- 15:17fantastic. Yeah, his acrobatics Donnie Yen
- 15:21is amazing, what the fuck I would.
- 15:24I'm always floored every time I see his like solo moments when
- 15:29he's just fighting by himself. The way he handles that staff.
- 15:33I think Ray could have really yeah.
- 15:36Had he taught like Ray something?
- 15:39Because we was already pretty good with the staff.
- 15:41But could you imagine Ray at his level?
- 15:44Nina was a mint or something? Like you know, that'd be so
- 15:46cool. I like I remember the first time
- 15:49I saw that in the theater I was like cheering, like screeching
- 15:52in my seat, trying to like scream into my jacket, because I
- 15:54was so excited because you never, you know, we had never
- 15:57seen anything like that in Star Wars before when they break.
- 16:02The helmet and glass flies out of the Stormtroopers helmets.
- 16:06I was like, this is what I want from Star Wars.
- 16:09It's like the little details like that.
- 16:10That make it more realistic because they couldn't do it in
- 16:13the 70s. You know, they didn't have the
- 16:14technology but now, oh my God. The way they had those little
- 16:18details. And the sound of the force choke
- 16:20guess where we've talked about another episode about sound
- 16:23effects, where it sounds like, there's noise gets like sucked
- 16:25out. I loved that and I like that
- 16:29Vader. Gently and then increases it.
- 16:31And Ben's performance, you know as chronic.
- 16:34Yeah, it's kind of a subtle choke and then it he increases
- 16:39the amount of Cho koj. You think you're like the blood
- 16:41pouring through your ears you know pounding in your ears.
- 16:43Let's talk about Ben mendelsohn because we fucking love him.
- 16:48He's such a good actor and he's like strangely handsome.
- 16:51Hmm. And like, I don't know what it
- 16:53is about him, but I really like him.
- 16:56It's this like self-awareness. I think is a big part of a good.
- 16:59That's a good way to put it. If you see him interviewed ever,
- 17:01he is Is centered and very sure of who he is, or at least he
- 17:05doesn't care, maybe what other people think.
- 17:08That's at least the vibe. I get seeing him interviewed,
- 17:11and you see it in his performance.
- 17:13He has this non self conscious performance, and I like that
- 17:18about him a lot and he wears a cape, well, which is hard to do.
- 17:23Why don't you carry natural? Black?
- 17:25Capes are one thing, but a white Cape, right?
- 17:28Which is an intelligence officer, right?
- 17:30Yeah, I didn't he He's pretty fucking good, he's great.
- 17:33I noticed yesterday, more than usual, the emphasis that they
- 17:37have on building Vader's presence in the first scenes
- 17:40that we see him not in the back to tank, but when he approaches,
- 17:44chronic, there's a little bit of hesitation in chronics face
- 17:48because he's so imposing fader. Yes.
- 17:52And they show the shadow of his figure on the wall right before
- 17:56they show him which I had never noticed before.
- 17:59It's brilliant until we saw it on the big screen.
- 18:01I mean there was a wow that's really imposing.
- 18:04It's done Vader. Loves a fucking entrance.
- 18:08What? Skywalker doesn't?
- 18:09So no. The Beyonce Spotlight behind
- 18:12him. My walks into the garage door.
- 18:15Like I just wasn't it. He doesn't need a fan.
- 18:19It does. He doesn't keep his own fan
- 18:22pillows on its own. It's so funny.
- 18:25Yeah. We don't have to talk about the
- 18:26Holocene. Yes, we do.
- 18:29I knew it was adorable. You moved forward?
- 18:31To like the edge of your chair. Don't watch it.
- 18:34Oh, so good didn't want to miss it.
- 18:38And it's just so impactful on the big screen, you know, the
- 18:44first time and only time I've seen Rogue one in theaters.
- 18:47I had no idea that was coming, right?
- 18:49None of us did, right? I was so overwhelmed when I saw
- 18:53it the first time now, I was prepared and I said, okay, this
- 18:57is everything I've ever wanted. I'm already emotional, I'm
- 19:00already crying because it's like Ones.
- 19:02Just died. Yeah and we're about to get
- 19:04everyone in this hallway dead within minutes.
- 19:06It's still terrifying. The amount of fear that comes
- 19:11out of those actors in that hallway, there's nothing like
- 19:14it. It's the best Vader in the maybe
- 19:17ever. Yes.
- 19:19Yes we do and then the life and the breathing and the light,
- 19:22it's just perfection this movie. Just totally gets it gets it.
- 19:27It's howling action, omage and it was the first time in a long
- 19:30time. We saw live.
- 19:31Action like droids instead of like green-screen droids and
- 19:35shit like that. It was such a reference to the
- 19:38original trilogy. And you can see how it's
- 19:40starting to tie into that and they didn't so beautifully.
- 19:43But then these little details like how they treated Vader and
- 19:46how they edited the scene we've seen it.
- 19:49How many times it always makes my blood pressure.
- 19:52Go like through the fucking roof.
- 19:53It is crazy. And honestly all the emotional
- 19:56stuff that happens before that, huh?
- 19:58Every time I watch it because it's so well done.
- 20:01Like when It dies. Yeah.
- 20:03And he stands up. You were saying yesterday?
- 20:05He stands up and they kind of like take the music down and he
- 20:07just holds his staff. And you can see he's making up
- 20:09his mind and you're just like, no, don't do it.
- 20:11But he's the only one who can do it.
- 20:13He's the only one and he knows it.
- 20:14And he does it. And he's calm about it.
- 20:16He does it. And I do like cuz he's blind,
- 20:19right? He couldn't immediately find the
- 20:21lever. Yeah.
- 20:22And it's one of those subtle things that they add that makes
- 20:25your heart pound just a little bit faster.
- 20:27Yeah. As you want them to find the
- 20:29thing and he finds it and he's so happy he does.
- 20:31Yeah, yeah. And then it's just like over,
- 20:34you know, it was his idea to make the character blind.
- 20:37It was Donnie Yen's idea idea. It's so smart and it adds so
- 20:40much like with his that fight scene earlier where they show
- 20:43him hearing like listening and here's my foot move and the turn
- 20:47of the head and I love it and then it love when castings like
- 20:50see a Jedi. I mean, I was insane.
- 20:54But thing is me. He would have been.
- 20:56Yeah, I just love his faith to in the forest.
- 21:00It's very calming. It's very Soothing and he's such
- 21:03a centered being in the middle of all this chaos and I love the
- 21:07humor but between him and yeah. What's the other characters
- 21:11named best between him and bass? Bass bass, whatever they're
- 21:15adorable and cheer, it inspires him all the way to the end and I
- 21:20think that's beautiful. Yeah, all of these characters,
- 21:22this is why we love it again characters.
- 21:25They all teach each other something very crucial even at
- 21:29this stage in their life, even before they All die.
- 21:32Yeah, doing it. I think it's a great example
- 21:36that it's never ever too late in life, to do something better, to
- 21:40learn something to do something. Selfless to change yourself, you
- 21:44know. Yeah.
- 21:45Jin didn't believe at all. She's very, you know, either
- 21:49borderline realist. / pessimist about life.
- 21:53Yeah, and reasonably. So exactly with good reason.
- 21:57But look at what happened when you believe in something and she
- 22:01believed in the She had that kyber Crystal, which I do love
- 22:03that Shear it since tits. I love that scene calls her out
- 22:06right there in the street. Like I do kind of love how they
- 22:09all just come together haphazardly and I, you know, I
- 22:11think it's great. It's so good and it's not
- 22:14forced. And I think that has to do with
- 22:16the filmmaking because you have to maneuver your characters into
- 22:19position and get them all as a group and then get them to work
- 22:21together that can be really cheesy.
- 22:23And I think this group of actors and then with the director and
- 22:28the good screenplay. It's so perfect.
- 22:32And they all made a choice to be together in the end.
- 22:34Yes. And that's what I love.
- 22:36Each character goes to. You were just talking about gin
- 22:39which is funny because I had just been having that thought I
- 22:41was gonna say that next. So you go spaced winning me.
- 22:44Like it was fantastic because she has the change of heart.
- 22:47She tells saw gerrera like it's not a problem seeing the Empire
- 22:50flag if you don't look up. Yeah, and then kerosene has the
- 22:53same thing where he is being told over and over throughout
- 22:57the whole movie that his job is not actually to get Galen are
- 23:01It's to kill him and you can see in his performance and Diego
- 23:05Luna's eyes, he's just so disappointed.
- 23:07Every time that order is reinforced and then he finally
- 23:11makes a decision that he's not going to do it and that's where
- 23:14his character has the turn it. So by the end they've and Bodie
- 23:17Brooke. Yes.
- 23:18Also see his so nervous the whole time and he just keeps
- 23:23despite his fear making that decision, to do the right thing.
- 23:26But Galen told him, you can make better for yourself.
- 23:29You can do better. Yeah.
- 23:30And he made The choice and it all goes back to gal.
- 23:33Gal. Stood in front of those fine men
- 23:36that he worked with, he knew they were good man.
- 23:39He couldn't let them be executed even though.
- 23:41Yeah. It was a slap in the fucking
- 23:43face that they were. Anyway.
- 23:45Yeah and I want to then point out I fucking love Mads
- 23:50Mikkelsen. Absolutely.
- 23:52I have loved him since this horrible movie called King
- 23:55Arthur came out. It was like a so long ago.
- 24:01It was probably in high school, I think when I came out and
- 24:04instantly his character doesn't even speak, I'd like that's my
- 24:07favorite character and it's because he it's him, it's his
- 24:11presence. And the way he performs is just
- 24:14so captivating in everything I've ever seen him in.
- 24:18Well, the Mickelson's have that right?
- 24:20Like his brother is kind of what's his name?
- 24:23Wrong Lars. Yeah.
- 24:24Sorry, I don't know. Your writing.
- 24:26Sorry, I went right for the character is hoping his throb.
- 24:31This man is throbbing through and through, so I loved it,
- 24:36like, the Ron and gay lenders are really brothers.
- 24:39Yes. Yes, it makes me happy and it's
- 24:42appropriate and mads is he has that subtle facial acting?
- 24:47Yes, he's so talented and I think he's very handsome.
- 24:51I know that one of our followers also agrees with me.
- 24:54Well, we tend to like, we acknowledge the handsome ones
- 24:57that aren't conventionally handsome.
- 24:59I think I don't know about you, but I get really bored with
- 25:02American sense of beauty. Chris Evans, I'm not bored by
- 25:07his Beauty but it's like, yes, he's handsome but I get tired of
- 25:10that same like Cookie Cutter. Yeah.
- 25:12And that's why I find people like like Diego, Luna and Mads
- 25:15Mikkelsen of Ben mendelsohn. Like they're all like, Gary
- 25:18Sinise I love carries me and Lauren love.
- 25:20Gary Sinise, Gary, Sinise to do ever hear this?
- 25:24I love you. We love you.
- 25:25Love you forever. It's so funny because when we
- 25:27both first realize that we both had an odd crush on Gary Sinise,
- 25:33look, watch Of Mice and Men and tell me you're feel full, but,
- 25:38yeah, it's way more interesting. Yes.
- 25:40It's just, yeah, it's more about like there's something going on
- 25:43behind the looks, and I think that makes somebody very
- 25:48captivating. Well, I don't know.
- 25:50Anyone any Stephen King fans out there that has watched the
- 25:55miniseries. The Outsider I believe.
- 25:57It's on HBO HBO Max something like that.
- 26:00Ben mendelsohn plays, the main character who's a cop, who's a
- 26:03diss additional disillusioned cop and it's supernatural.
- 26:07It's Stephen King. It's very.
- 26:09I read the book. The book is excellent.
- 26:11I was very pleased to see that Ben was going to play the cop.
- 26:14Yeah and he did a fantastic job but that made me really fall for
- 26:19him like His non-conventional handsome.
- 26:22Yeah. Mmm.
- 26:23I remember you texting me when you were watching it?
- 26:26Yeah. Because it was.
- 26:26Yes. They just certain people like
- 26:29Mets. Mickelson is the same.
- 26:30Yes, in Hannibal. Is that what the show is?
- 26:33Oh, yes. Yes, show is terrifying.
- 26:36If I guess what he and they joke about it in the production like
- 26:41that, it's a dark comedy. And that he is a psychopath.
- 26:45So that the fact that he has empathy for character wants the
- 26:48character to like him is unrealistic, they say That
- 26:51they're breaking rules, but he's so charming.
- 26:54And like, that's the whole point that is the is that he wears
- 26:58these very exotic suits and he's very cultured and he's very
- 27:03seductive. Even when he's just talking to
- 27:05someone casually, those are the most terrifying Killers, right?
- 27:09And like the fact that he can be both sides like that.
- 27:12The actor can portray both sides.
- 27:13I'm sorry. Are you describing thrawn exotic
- 27:19suits? He's very cultured, he plays a
- 27:23character like that on Sherlock Lars Lars Mikkelsen plays a
- 27:26really creepy creepy creepy characters and it just, you
- 27:32know, it's very thrawn, but if he was living in Britain, yes, I
- 27:37think Ron might live in Britain as it seems like that he been on
- 27:40Earth, but have had an ice castle somewhere.
- 27:43Someone posted a video of George, Lucas saying that he
- 27:46gets to know cultures through their art and then they were
- 27:49like, does that mean George Lucas?
- 27:52It's like oh shit. Kind of seems like I like a
- 27:54young a young version of him when he was very young.
- 27:57So it was like didn't face thrown off himself possibly.
- 28:01Hmm. Don't know.
- 28:03Hmm. I like the Ron anyway what do
- 28:05we? I don't know.
- 28:06We've Sidetrack as we as we normally do Mads Mikkelsen blah
- 28:10blah blah yeah bro one yeah I love them all.
- 28:14Okay, we have to talk about the scene on the beach because also
- 28:18do we yes because I of it with like to possibly one of my
- 28:23favorite scenes and all Cinema. It's beautiful and terrifying so
- 28:29gut-wrenching and it's the actors it is.
- 28:32It absolutely is. The, the it's beautiful in like
- 28:37the most terrifying way. Mmm, the end is coming and it's
- 28:42almost like a sunrise. Yeah.
- 28:45It's a beautiful looking. It's like a nuclear shock.
- 28:48What is? And the shot.
- 28:50Intermingled with how they're looking at it from space.
- 28:53Like up above us, May the force be with you, you know, how then
- 28:57they cut. That's the part that really gets
- 29:01me because it's like they're up there and they can't do a thing.
- 29:04They just have to stand by and watch and they're down there and
- 29:07they can't do a thing. And it's I shook my head so many
- 29:11times because fuck the Empire, right?
- 29:15How horrific was the Death Star, right?
- 29:18And then they destroy Jetta City and They say oh how beautiful?
- 29:21Yeah well that went well fucking disgusting.
- 29:24Yeah. Anyway it's the acting the
- 29:28silence. Yeah.
- 29:30Especially though when casting says your father what a what a
- 29:34nice final thing to I just did the actors have such good
- 29:39chemistry with each other and like their The Arc of their,
- 29:43don't know, relationship friendship, whatever you want to
- 29:46call it. It's really fun to watch because
- 29:49they're kind of similar. Hair is like very damaged,
- 29:52people who could be amazing, honorable people, but they're
- 29:56just in the muck, you know, doing the work.
- 29:59And as they kind of work together, they start to realize,
- 30:02like we could be better like they're foils for each other
- 30:05where they keep holding each other accountable.
- 30:08Yeah. Like when Cassie, and was
- 30:09supposed to execute her father and she's talking to him in the
- 30:12ship and she's like, you put him in danger.
- 30:14He's dead because of you and he says, I don't have to explain
- 30:17myself to you. I loved that scene because Was
- 30:20he is wrong but he's doing his best.
- 30:23You know. He's trying to follow orders,
- 30:25raised being pulled in all these different directions.
- 30:27Yeah. And then to have them, get all
- 30:29the way to the the tower. Well when they're in the
- 30:32elevator and they're looking at each other, there's a need.
- 30:35Yes they realized there's a need there.
- 30:38That's how I interpret that scene there.
- 30:40Just in it together till the end like this is it like they know
- 30:44it's the end and they just have each other and that's it.
- 30:47So the and it's like a beautiful thing.
- 30:50I don't know. God, their chemistry together
- 30:51with are looking at each other. And then when they hug on the
- 30:54beach, they get consumed by the white light the way she looks
- 30:59like I'm melting. No, it's true.
- 31:06It's too much. It's like perfectly done.
- 31:08It's so over-the-top. But it's so subtle at the same
- 31:11time, it's the focus of the camera work on their eyes.
- 31:15Yeah. Because the eyes are the window
- 31:17to the soul. They don't have to say anything.
- 31:19Yeah. And the The fact that Cassie ins
- 31:21last words were a comfort to Jin.
- 31:25What a wonderful wrap up. Yeah.
- 31:28For his, I mean, I'm going to be thinking of this when we see the
- 31:32the show. Yeah, same.
- 31:34And we talked about it in the car yesterday, how his eyes
- 31:36State? Yeah, and right up until the
- 31:39end, and he has this like last look of kind of fear, which we
- 31:42were saying, how, like, more effective that is than if
- 31:44someone was like, squeezing their eyes shut.
- 31:46Yeah. I mean, it's human.
- 31:49Yeah. Even if you're there with
- 31:50Someone and, you know, and you're okay with it, you're
- 31:53still going to have a flash of fear.
- 31:54Your body is designed to preserve itself and when it
- 31:57can't you're going to be afraid. Yeah, I think it's great that
- 32:00they left that in and the way they're like so wrapped around
- 32:03each other desperate. Yeah, there is a really fun fan
- 32:07Theory which, of course, I'm sure it's not real.
- 32:09But I like the idea of it that Jin's Kyra crystal is between
- 32:13them. Oh my God.
- 32:15I never thought of that. Yeah, and so like when they
- 32:17died, maybe they were like protected together.
- 32:20Some Ahow by that. And I was like, wow, I like that
- 32:22idea. But they could have like joined
- 32:25the force together somehow Lord. I have never heard this in.
- 32:28This is amazing. I loved the idea.
- 32:31God, can we make it Canon? I need it as a comfort.
- 32:36You just did. I'm putting my stamp on it.
- 32:40My Jaws on the floor, isn't it? Fun idea what's not fun?
- 32:46It's less painful. It's painful like eases the pain
- 32:49of the I guess it's like a something who cling to I think,
- 32:54yes. I think that the force Works in
- 32:57very mysterious and yet clear-cut ways, right?
- 33:01And I would like to think that it in that moment perhaps it was
- 33:06quick. Obviously, it was quick.
- 33:07Yeah, I like that. They didn't suffer, but their
- 33:10souls, perhaps were preserved. Yeah.
- 33:13In some, I mean, shit. And they go straight to Leia.
- 33:19They will always Be preserved in whatever happens after that.
- 33:24Like, oh my God too. And that with Leia actually got
- 33:28me super emotional this time. Yes.
- 33:30Because Carrie Fisher's passed away.
- 33:31Yeah. And she hadn't when the show
- 33:33came or the movie came out and so now to like see her as young
- 33:38way of Full Circle. I mean, I know she wasn't the
- 33:40one performing, it doesn't matter like layaway, give her
- 33:43stamp of approval. She said go for it.
- 33:45Yes. Recreate me as a young,
- 33:47beautiful lady. Again, I think she said like
- 33:49make it good. Like you're gonna do it.
- 33:51Make it good. We love you Carrie.
- 33:53God carry on. I love her so much.
- 33:55Yeah, that made me emotional and then to know I give you ever
- 33:59jump from Rogue one right into a new hope.
- 34:01It's like the energy level at the end of Rogue one going into
- 34:05a new home but they don't like really tired because Vader's
- 34:09just not at that moment. He's yes, that the ship got
- 34:13away. Yeah he needed to be, I really
- 34:17do love the cape flutter in the wind and space.
- 34:20Ace. But no there's not like there's
- 34:23a bigger so it's it's self-generated Cape flutter from
- 34:26his fucking anger. That's my head can in the force
- 34:30is making it look like he's so angry that it has to come out in
- 34:33like a vent from his suit and that's what's causing the cape
- 34:37flutter. I don't care if it's a film
- 34:39mistake. It's my suit is overheating us
- 34:43his fucking anger. Oh that's great.
- 34:46Just think Anakin's in their fucking pissed seething.
- 34:51Cape flutters, because of it and the end, that's it.
- 35:02Alright, the obvious question this week is, did you get a
- 35:05chance to go see Rogue one re released in theaters?
- 35:09And what did you think of the and or preview?
- 35:12We got to node. Are you excited?
