Latest / Fanatically Speaking with Kent / NFL Quarterback Carousel: Kyler, Tua, Rodgers & the ‘Franchise’ Test
Transcript
- 0:00Hey, what's up, everybody? Welcome to Fanatically
- 0:02Speaking. I am Kent, the co -host and promoter.
- 0:06I'm Log Off, the Log Off legend, hater of all
- 0:09things social media. I am the co -host and producer
- 0:11of the show. All right. And today's episode,
- 0:16we are going to talk about quarterbacks in the
- 0:18NFL, kind of call it the quarterback carousel.
- 0:21We're going through the coaching carousel right
- 0:23now in the off season. But we wanted to just
- 0:26get a head start on the quarterback. uh, movement
- 0:30that may happen via free agency trades and draft.
- 0:36Yeah. And, um, and I was actually looking at
- 0:39this, um, when you brought this up yesterday,
- 0:41I was just looking at rosters and looking at
- 0:44court. When you think about it and you look at
- 0:48it top to bottom, it's not a lot of great quarterbacks
- 0:52in the NFL. I feel like in previous, you know,
- 0:58eras, There were a pretty healthy list of quarterbacks
- 1:01that you trusted. It's not a lot of them that
- 1:03I trust now, which accounts for a lot of the
- 1:05shakeups. Even high draft pick quarterbacks,
- 1:08young quarterbacks. So yeah, I'm curious to see
- 1:11how we're going to go along with this and see
- 1:13who probably needs to make some moves and go
- 1:15somewhere else. Yeah, so I'm going to start with
- 1:19a name. I got a couple of guys to start off with.
- 1:23We're going to start quarterbacks. I got a list
- 1:25of names. I got a list of teams. So it's going
- 1:28to kind of, we're going to kind of go back and
- 1:29forth with this and try not to be all over the
- 1:32place. But so, so one name that I keep seeing
- 1:36and hearing that is going to need a change of
- 1:38scenery and the team may want to move on as well
- 1:41is Kyler Murray. And if you remember, I almost,
- 1:46I almost called him the nickname and I'm not
- 1:49going to do it. I'm not going to do it, but I
- 1:53don't want to get us flagged. You know, if you,
- 1:54and if you can remember The Cardinals Had Hired
- 2:03Cliff Kingsbury Specifically because they wanted
- 2:08to draft Kyler Murray they wanted to pair the
- 2:10two together And it didn't work out so and Keith
- 2:16they you know They gave Steve Wilkes one year
- 2:18and he was out so to get Kingsbury in there and
- 2:21then get Kyler Murray at that top pick and it
- 2:24just hasn't worked out for them, whether it be
- 2:27on the field success or keeping him healthy.
- 2:33So I'm going to start cooking on this one because
- 2:36I'm going to go a little bit and then I'm going
- 2:39to pause and kind of ask you a question because
- 2:40I have no idea where you stand on this. Okay.
- 2:44That was probably one of the more recent renditions
- 2:48of I'm going to appease You know the pick that
- 2:55I'm making in the draft You know by having a
- 2:59coach that's comfortable and it was also flashy
- 3:02at the time to hire the new young coach Yeah,
- 3:06you know to pair with the quarterback, you know,
- 3:08they work well together. They had some success
- 3:10in the collegiate ranks, whatever But you know,
- 3:13like you said it didn't work out for a lot of
- 3:15reasons, you know, there was a lot of You know
- 3:19rumblings about Kyle Murray, you know his low
- 3:24levels of maturity, playing video games, not,
- 3:29not breaking down film like he should, you know,
- 3:32nothing necessarily about his work ethic as an
- 3:35athlete, but just more of the head game part
- 3:37of it where it's like, Hey man, like, are you
- 3:39in this to do this or you know, what type of,
- 3:44what type of stipulations do we need to put in
- 3:46your contract? That was actually a conversation
- 3:48too, where it's like, we're going to structure
- 3:50your contract to where you have to be parts of
- 3:53these discussions, conversations, coaching sessions,
- 3:56understanding the position so that way we can
- 3:58make sure that you stay our franchise quarterback.
- 4:01But the question that I have for you is, have
- 4:03you ever been a fan of the elite player coach
- 4:11combination? going from either one team to the
- 4:15next, or in Kyle Murray and the Kingsbury situation
- 4:20going from college to the pro ranks, are you
- 4:23a fan of that move as a whole? I'm trying to
- 4:29think of - Other situations like that? Well,
- 4:32I'm trying to think of a situation where, another
- 4:35situation that that happened and it actually
- 4:37worked. And that's another thing that I'm thinking.
- 4:42Yeah, it's rare. It's brought up a lot. Normally,
- 4:45the quarterback is already there. And they say,
- 4:48you know, like a Chicago, hey, we got this top
- 4:50pick, Caleb Williams, Ben Johnson will be great
- 4:53to make, you know, and we'll see what happens,
- 4:55right? Or they make a trade to bring in a quarterback
- 4:59to go with a coach. But this happening like at
- 5:03the same time, I'm trying to remember if that's
- 5:07ever happened. And I really can't remember that
- 5:11that's been a case of, we're hiring this guy
- 5:14to get with this quarterback and they're gonna
- 5:16start with the team at the same time. And maybe
- 5:19I'm just having a memory loss. I'm just gonna
- 5:24give you a hypothetical and we'll go a little
- 5:25old school here. But let's say Tim Tebow is a
- 5:29coveted draft pick. Hey, we're gonna bring in
- 5:31Urban Meyer to coach him. Would you be a fan
- 5:33of that? Bryce Young, number one overall pick
- 5:40for the Panthers. Hey, we're gonna bring in Nick
- 5:42Saban to be his coach. Yeah, see, I can think
- 5:46of more situations where there was a pairing
- 5:50that was needed and it didn't happen. You know
- 5:54what I mean? Okay. So I can think of like the
- 5:56Bryce Young where the rumors were they hired
- 6:00Frank Reich and rumor is he wanted CJ Stroud,
- 6:04management ownership wanted Bryce Young. And
- 6:07it didn't work out between the two, because that's
- 6:09not the quarterback he wanted. Or - Bumping of
- 6:12heads, yeah. Right, it was like, nah, my offense
- 6:14and the way I want my quarterback is to be big,
- 6:18strong arm and everything like that. Not this,
- 6:20again, smaller quarterback with different skills.
- 6:25Nathaniel Hackett hired in Denver, they thought
- 6:27they were getting Aaron Rodgers. They didn't,
- 6:29so they settled for Russell Wilson, and it was
- 6:31a disaster. Those are the ones I remember. I
- 6:34don't, but yeah, like a Tim Tebow and an Urban
- 6:38Meyer at the time before he became Perv Meyer,
- 6:41I think would have worked. You know what I mean?
- 6:44Because he knows Tim Tebow. He knows his strengths.
- 6:47He's not gonna say, hey, we're gonna make you
- 6:49a pocket passer. Nah, that's stupid, right? And
- 6:53that happens a lot. But yeah, I don't know if
- 6:56I'm a fan of it. I think familiarity is really
- 6:59good. And we talked about that on another episode
- 7:03with like Jalen Hurts and his offensive coordinators,
- 7:06but not necessarily the head coach. So it's like,
- 7:11you know, like I think a good coordinator pairing
- 7:14with a quarterback is way better than a head
- 7:17coach pairing with a quarterback. Does that make
- 7:20sense? And it makes perfect sense. And, and that's
- 7:24a Like you heard a lot of discussion. I'm sure
- 7:28you've read a bunch of stuff. It's all the stuff
- 7:29online about the, you know, Kyle Murray, Cliff
- 7:32Kingsbury pairing. And it seemed like a better
- 7:37fit to just hire him as an OC. He was coming
- 7:40from college anyway. You didn't have to give
- 7:42him, you know, free run over the entire organization
- 7:45as the head coach. You didn't have to give him
- 7:47that job. Just say, Hey man, come in and prove
- 7:49yourself. We'll give you a year and a half. We'll
- 7:52give you 18 months show me what you can do with
- 7:55this kid undersized Yeah, you know first round
- 7:59quarterback and Kyler Murray we know he's talented
- 8:02We know he's a great athlete and we saw what
- 8:04you did with him now Show me something and then
- 8:06if you can prove it to us, then yeah We'll get
- 8:08our coach out of here and make you our head coach
- 8:10something, you know something like that But they
- 8:12didn't even make him prove himself. So no, I
- 8:15think I think that's a fair comparison. I think
- 8:16that's a And not to stay on this too much longer,
- 8:20but yeah, that would have made more sense because
- 8:21one Kingsbury had never been a head coach in
- 8:24NFL So he's got a lot to worry about a lot more
- 8:27responsibility and you know, it would have made
- 8:29more sense Yeah, you're right to just you know,
- 8:32keep Steve Wilkes as the head coach Kingsbury
- 8:34is the OC and if it does fizzle for Wilkes then
- 8:37you just bump up Kingsbury, but at least he's
- 8:39making the steps but they threw him right into
- 8:41the fire and and to try to be a first -time head
- 8:45coach and Focus on your quarterback in the offense.
- 8:49That's a tough task. I don't think I don't think
- 8:51people realize that you know Obviously the NFL
- 8:55head coach and job is a huge job lot of responsibility.
- 8:57So definitely that But again, I don't know a
- 9:01spot where you say okay Kyler Murray can go to
- 9:05this team and succeed I'm just not like I got
- 9:10a list again to these guys and he's just one
- 9:13that I say I like to ask the question you know,
- 9:16these teams are going to have to ask the question,
- 9:18is he better than what we have or had? And can
- 9:21I win a championship? Okay. So I'm, I'm going
- 9:27to disagree. I'm going to disagree with that
- 9:29second question. Okay. And again, I'm wearing
- 9:33the hat, rational sports fan log off. Yeah. Only
- 9:37one team can win the championship. So, so, so
- 9:42I, I look at how long it took for somebody like
- 9:46Trevor Lawrence, who had a great year this year
- 9:48to develop. We talked about CJ Stroud, how he
- 9:52had to kind of work his way into an NFL office
- 9:57to become a productive playoff type player. When
- 10:01I look at Calamari's size, the only place that
- 10:09kind of made sense for me was a team that has
- 10:12a lot of talent around them. And they may have,
- 10:16and even though they had a good quarterback,
- 10:18they were kind of held back from their successes
- 10:20because of their starting quarterback's lack
- 10:23of ability. And Kyler Murray has this ability.
- 10:26I say you do whatever you can if you're the Atlanta
- 10:28Falcons to go get Kyler Murray. Oh, wow. Undersized,
- 10:33yes, but they've got fantastic running backs.
- 10:36They've got a good old line. You got one of the
- 10:38best up and coming tight ends in the league.
- 10:40Just go get him. Bring him in and. to your original
- 10:45point about pairing them with a coach, they're
- 10:47gonna have to go hire a new coach. Bring in a
- 10:50coach and interview them and say, hey, can you
- 10:53coach Kyler Murray and make him a productive
- 10:56starting quarterback in the NFC South? Can you
- 10:59do that? And this job is yours. And then just
- 11:03go make the move. They got all the salary cap
- 11:06money in the world. They can still draft a quarterback
- 11:09if they want to. Nothing stopping you from doing
- 11:12that and if Calamari flames out Do you got somebody
- 11:15who's been? Sitting on the pine for a year and
- 11:17a half two seasons and it gives them an opportunity
- 11:20to kind of learn the game You know from the locker
- 11:22room and from the sidelines So that's kind of
- 11:24my guess that that was the first place my mind
- 11:26went and it seems to be a solid one to me Yeah,
- 11:29and that would kill two birds with one stone
- 11:31Because and that's not because it's the Cardinals
- 11:35and the Falcons Look at you with the puns look
- 11:41at you But but the Falcons obviously I think
- 11:44Kirk Cousins reworked his deal a little bit to
- 11:46help them out I don't think he's the answer.
- 11:49He's got you know cement blocks as feet Michael
- 11:54Pinnix is I think it's still up in the air on
- 11:57is he good is he not good? But you know they
- 12:00could probably find a deal somewhere and make
- 12:03that work somehow money wise player wise and
- 12:06we shall see Okay, I'm just gonna move on to
- 12:10the next guy and we kind of hit it. We kind of
- 12:12hit the Falcons there and all that so we no worries
- 12:15about them anymore. Tua, talk about Loa. Damn
- 12:29it, man. Seems like he's on his way out. Seems
- 12:33like he agreed a change would be needed. Yeah.
- 12:37Two is a tough one. He gets, he's owed a lot
- 12:40of money, man, like 50 million. It's hard to
- 12:43move a contract like that. It's hard to have
- 12:45it on your books as dead money. So a team who
- 12:53needs the cap relief will have to make a move
- 12:58for him knowing that that money is coming off
- 13:01the books. Does that make sense? Yeah, but he's
- 13:06very similar to Murray Murray's got a few years
- 13:08left on his contract, which is huge And two has
- 13:12got a few more like one more year than Kyler
- 13:17So yeah, I mean the both of them and their contracts
- 13:20is gonna matter and where they go But but the
- 13:25dip but the difference in this is But the difference
- 13:28for me between the two is I feel like Kyler Murray
- 13:31can still actually play the quarterback position
- 13:35at a, at a competent level, more so than Tua.
- 13:40If I told you right now, you need a game, somebody's
- 13:44got to win a game for your life. Are you taking
- 13:46Tua or Kyler? I'm going to take Kyler, but they're
- 13:51both injury prone. But Kyler doesn't get concussions
- 13:56every other play like Tua. And his arm is stronger.
- 14:01So yeah, I'm going to take Kyler. He's quicker.
- 14:05he's faster, stronger, more durable, even though
- 14:08he's also entry prone. But yeah, I take Kyler
- 14:11over. I would take Kyler over Tua. I think both
- 14:14are going to get another chance to be a starter
- 14:16on another team though. Agreed. I agree with
- 14:19that. And also to your point, Tua is, I don't
- 14:25know, I hate putting this type of stuff out there,
- 14:26but I mean, I'm not out there hitting them. I
- 14:30feel like that dude is one or two crazy hits
- 14:32away from having his career ended. I thought
- 14:36it was already ended. And then somehow he came
- 14:39back and he keeps coming back and you know, it
- 14:42is, you know, he plays football. It is a part
- 14:44of the game, but yeah, you're right. I mean it,
- 14:47and it doesn't have to be a vicious hit, right?
- 14:49I mean, he's gotten them from, you know, hitting
- 14:51his head on the ground and the turf. So hopefully.
- 14:54Oh dude. I mean, I mean, I mean, watch it, watching
- 14:56his head get bounced off the gear. I've seen
- 14:59it. I mean, it's going to take maybe one game
- 15:01against the Houston Texans or New England Patriots.
- 15:05And who knows what do I happen they they come
- 15:07after you and they hit the quarterback We talked
- 15:09about that. So yeah, I mean when those guys are
- 15:12coming after you man, anything could happen Yeah,
- 15:16that's what makes it tough for him I I think
- 15:20the best option is a team that's in kind of cap
- 15:24hell That has pieces that need to be moved and
- 15:28they're gonna go through like a rebuilding phase
- 15:30but if I had to bet a dollar amount, any dollar
- 15:36amount, I don't care if it's $1. He's staying
- 15:39with the Dolphins, dude. They're gonna be unable
- 15:43to move him. Yeah, he might. I mean, they're
- 15:48gonna get a new head coach. They got Quinn Ewers.
- 15:50He looked pretty good at the end of the season.
- 15:53So it might be another year of that until they
- 15:56make a move, right? And I'm gonna throw this
- 16:01really, really quick. What about a Kyler Murray,
- 16:04Kyler Fertua? Does that help anybody? So the
- 16:10contracts match. So mathematically, yes, that's
- 16:13a move that you could make. The question would
- 16:18be whether or not Arizona is going to be willing
- 16:22to make that move for such a, for the same amount
- 16:27of money. It's kind of like, Do you want to like,
- 16:31I would rather dance with the devil that I know
- 16:33in Kyler Murray. I got you. Then I would to,
- 16:36to, to go with Tua and, and know that he's just
- 16:39one crazy hit. And I mean, and I what the concussions
- 16:45for a quarterbacks are different because it's,
- 16:48it's such a, it's an injury that you can, you
- 16:51can only see it when it's at its absolute worst.
- 16:54I remember when Vic was getting concussions late
- 16:57in his career. And it was like, damn Vic, like
- 17:01you can't take those hits like that anymore.
- 17:05I guess maybe Arizona does take a swing. It doesn't
- 17:09really benefit them unless Miami gives them a
- 17:14great offer that includes maybe a player or two
- 17:18and some picks. But you got to give me something
- 17:20else other than just player for player. Because
- 17:23two might be out of it and maybe they're gonna
- 17:25have to eat that money anyway, but they have
- 17:27to have some upside. So maybe some second or
- 17:29third round picks in there. So maybe they could
- 17:31draft another quarterback and see if they work
- 17:34out on the cheap. Yeah, and again, Arizona gonna
- 18:16have a new head coach again new head coach Yeah,
- 18:18we just talked about Kyler Murray and like I
- 18:20said, they're in this situation again where you
- 18:23got another head coach gonna be coming in Who
- 18:25does he want so that that'll play into that?
- 18:29All right. I'm gonna move along. I'm gonna go
- 18:31old man here Aaron Rodgers we talked about it.
- 18:35Does he get is he retired? Did he get knocked
- 18:37out of the league? Does he play and if he did
- 18:40where in the hell would he play? I'll let you
- 18:44go first on this one. I'll let you go first on
- 18:47this one. I honestly think he's finished. He
- 18:50looked finished. Again, we talked about it. He
- 18:53literally said, take me out. I'm done. They've
- 18:57done returned me up my fumble for a touchdown,
- 18:59a pick six for a touchdown, you know, pick six.
- 19:01That was about his last pass, maybe in his career.
- 19:04He's not going to be back in Pittsburgh, whether
- 19:07Tomlin was going to be there or not. I heard,
- 19:12I can't remember who said it, and they were like,
- 19:14well, maybe he could do like Philip Rivers come
- 19:17in mid season on a team that needs a quarterback.
- 19:20But I'm like, I doubt that too. That doesn't
- 19:22feel like Aaron Rodgers. It just seems like he's
- 19:27finished. But I did try to think of some teams
- 19:30to say, well, what if, right? What if he just
- 19:34starts the season and Holt keeps that seat warm
- 19:38until - their injured quarterback comes in. And
- 19:43the only two is, again, a team who, again, they
- 19:46like to just juggle quarterbacks every year.
- 19:50And that's the Indianapolis Colts. They like
- 19:53old guys coming off their couch. So maybe they
- 19:57just say, hey, you know, with Shane Steichen.
- 20:01And they held, Philip Rivers held up pretty good.
- 20:04So I think there's a difference in offensive
- 20:07line, things like that. And then the Chiefs is
- 20:12one that was brought up because again, Patrick
- 20:14Holmes, they're gonna need somebody there to
- 20:17just keep it warm, not come take it away. Andy
- 20:21Reid's offense. So those are the two if that
- 20:26just first came to mind, I don't think he's gonna
- 20:29go to any other team that is bringing in a new
- 20:31head coach, things like that. It would have to
- 20:34be to me a team that has a head coach, has something
- 20:38in place. maybe Minnesota, if they're not sold
- 20:43on JJ McCarthy to just say, Hey, learn from Aaron
- 20:46or something like that. You beat me to it. No,
- 20:49you beat me to it. So those three, that one,
- 20:52and that one just came to mind. So those are
- 20:53my three, if he would play, but I honestly think
- 20:55he's finished. Okay. And, and I'm, I'm going
- 20:59to piggyback on the, the Vikings, um, uh, take
- 21:04the literally an article on NFL .com. I read
- 21:08I want to say it was, hell, I think it was yesterday.
- 21:13Yep, it was yesterday. Vikings head coach, Kevin
- 21:16O 'Connell, looks to add depth competition to
- 21:18his quarterback room for next season. All right.
- 21:22Now, if I'm not mistaken, if I'm not mistaken,
- 21:26prior to him signing with Pittsburgh, I believe
- 21:32Aaron Rodgers had a meeting with the Vikings.
- 21:35Am I wrong on that? No, they had conversations.
- 21:38They had conversations, okay? So there was some
- 21:42mutual interest then. The thing that concerns
- 21:46me the most about Aaron Rodgers is in that last
- 21:49game that we saw where they got obliterated by
- 21:52the Texans, that dude was flinching. He was wincing
- 21:57in the pocket. He didn't want anyone to graze
- 22:01him. He was horrified of contact. Now maybe he
- 22:09had an injury that we didn't know about Maybe
- 22:12all the hits he's taken his career have caught
- 22:15up with him but I will admit that he doesn't
- 22:19look like someone who wants to continue to play
- 22:22football with my eyes and I'll say that but I'll
- 22:28say the next place he plays football is like
- 22:32at a The next place Aaron Rodgers plays football
- 22:39will be in the seven -on -seven tournament in
- 22:43the Olympics. He'll be playing flag football.
- 22:48He'd be amazing. He would be incredible. Yes,
- 22:54he would. He would be great at flag football.
- 22:57It would be spectacular. Let him pick his own
- 23:01wide receivers. Just playing a 40 -in -order
- 23:03league. Oh, he'd be cooking people all day. You
- 23:08know, get him, uh, him, uh, who's some old good,
- 23:11uh, good old recorded, uh, retired, uh, wire
- 23:14receivers, uh, Adam Thielen just retired. Snatch
- 23:17up Adam Thielen. Yeah. Tio, um, Ocho Sinka. Tio,
- 23:21Chad Ocho. I don't know what type of shape he's
- 23:23in. Yeah. Get him out there, man. Um, yeah. Yeah.
- 23:28So I don't. The Minnesota thing though, their
- 23:33O -line was horrible. McCarthy went, they got
- 23:37killed. But it is a spot. I will give them a
- 23:41little opening to stay playing, only they say
- 23:44that he had fun this year. Maybe, again, it's
- 23:48hard to hang it up, but maybe he sees the writing
- 23:51on the wall that maybe it's his time. We shall
- 23:54see. Let's see, the other name I had on there,
- 26:21Daniel Jones. He's obviously gonna have to come
- 26:23back from his injury. I don't know if the Colts
- 26:27wanna keep rolling with him. But he looked good
- 26:34at times and then he was fizzling and spiraling
- 26:37downhill. And as you said, he was turning back
- 26:39into a pumpkin and then he got hurt. I'm not
- 26:44putting my faith in him. That's all, but - I
- 26:47don't know where if he comes and I don't think
- 26:49this season we have to worry about it. If he
- 26:52would come back, it would be at the start of
- 26:55season, I'd be amazed. He wouldn't be the same
- 26:58guy. So I'm just gonna I just wanted to mention
- 27:01if you've got anything to say about him and we
- 27:03can move move on. I don't know. I'm just so I
- 27:07guess I guess my only question for you in terms
- 27:09of Daniel Jones is and I by the way and I don't
- 27:12know maybe this is something that is super popular
- 27:15and I'm just now hearing hearing it. The I heard
- 27:19somebody talk about Sam Darnold But instead of
- 27:23calling him Sam Darnold, they called him same
- 27:24Darnold meaning he's always gonna be the same
- 27:26quarterback Yeah, even when you think he's better.
- 27:29Nope. He's still the same. He's same Darnold.
- 27:32I Don't know if that applies to Daniel Jones
- 27:34so my question for you is You saw the success
- 27:39that he that they he had with Indianapolis early
- 27:41in the year when he had what he needed You know
- 27:46MVP level running back Great old line, receivers
- 27:50that could catch passes that were a little inaccurate.
- 27:53He was able to succeed in flourishing that. They
- 27:56started off hot to the point where you, yours
- 27:58truly, said that you believed in him. Okay? I
- 28:01did. My question is, what makes you think he
- 28:04can't do that again? I mean, I think he could
- 28:08for part of the season. I mean, he has - So you
- 28:11think it's just eventually he'll fade? I don't
- 28:14have trust. That's what I'm saying. Some of these
- 28:16guys, it's like - And I got a question about
- 28:19one guy at the end of this episode, but it's
- 28:23you know Maybe I should have worded my question
- 28:25earlier about Kyler Murray and these other guys
- 28:27It's not so much. Can I win a championship? But
- 28:30are they a franchise quarterback? Eventually
- 28:33my thing is like a team like the Colts and any
- 28:36team I know sometimes you got to have that bridge
- 28:39quarterback, but you got to say okay. Is he my
- 28:41franchise quarterback and I'm just not sold on
- 28:46Daniel Jones Even with success, I mean, again,
- 28:50we've seen bad quarterbacks go to Super Bowls
- 28:54with teams like a Rex Grossman. So we've seen
- 28:59it. So my thing is, I'm not gonna give them the
- 29:04world. If they wanna give them a year contract,
- 29:08but you better have a good backup wherever he
- 29:11goes if he stays with the Colts. And again, if
- 29:14they did, that would be great. Somebody's gotta
- 29:16keep that seat warm. I'm just not sold on them.
- 29:20Like you said, I know there's not a lot of elite
- 29:22quarterbacks in the league. And you gotta have
- 29:27a quarterback with some talent and somebody that
- 29:29can man the ship. I'm just not sold on them.
- 29:34I think he can show flashes, but I think the
- 29:36pressure ultimately always gets to him. Let me
- 29:40ask you this. In terms of quarterback rankings
- 29:43is quarterback heavy show, obviously. Yes. What
- 29:46does it take for you to consider a quarterback,
- 29:50a, a franchise quarterback? Because I mean, there's
- 29:53five locks that, you know, my homes, Alan, Herbert,
- 29:56Jackson, burrow or locks. People argue about
- 30:00Jalen hurts, whatever. Right. But outside of
- 30:04them, he has, but outside of the names that I've,
- 30:08okay. So we'll throw him in at six. Out of those
- 30:10guys, outside of those guys, is Dak Prescott
- 30:15a franchise quarterback? I mean... See how you
- 30:23got to think about it? If you got to think about
- 30:25it, is he a franchise quarterback? I have to
- 30:27think about him. He's like a Justin Herbert.
- 30:32Okay, hold on. I got another name for you. Is
- 30:34Trevor Lawrence a franchise quarterback? He's...
- 30:39At the moment, it's he's young though. So you
- 30:43got to say, okay, and he has won a playoff game.
- 30:45So I mean, he might be in that basket too of
- 30:49with Dak and Herbert. There's like different
- 30:51levels. Okay. You know what I mean? So hold on,
- 30:53hold on. No, no, I can do, hold on. Yeah, there's
- 30:55a lot of names over here. I could do this all
- 30:57day, but, but, but I think like defining a franchise
- 31:01quarterback is important because the guys, the
- 31:04guys that I named off the top, it was, it was
- 31:07no brainers. Everybody else you have to think
- 31:09about. I'm just going to give you one more name.
- 31:11I love having fun with this shit. You know how
- 31:12I do. Yeah. Is Brock Purdy a franchise quarterback?
- 31:18And if he isn't, why not? I think he's a franchise
- 31:23quarterback for that franchise. For the franchise.
- 31:26Then that makes him a franchise quarterback.
- 31:28For that franchise and that system. OK. All right.
- 31:34Fair enough. Okay. So I mean, and there's some
- 31:36other names on here that I'm not going to throw
- 31:38out, but, um, okay. I think, I think that's,
- 31:42I think that's fair. And I, I appreciate that,
- 31:45that kind of, because franchise quarterback,
- 31:48people say that or people top five and top 10.
- 31:50And it's like, nah, when it comes to somebody
- 31:52that you trust, trust a franchise with. Those
- 31:55top six names, you can get them. You have that
- 31:57player on your team. You have a franchise quarterback,
- 31:59no question. So your Brock party elaboration,
- 32:02that team, I think that makes sense. Because
- 32:04if he goes to the Raiders, I don't think we're
- 32:06considering him a franchise QB. I'm that guy
- 32:11that if I was running a franchise, I'm not just
- 32:17going to put anybody at quarterback and say,
- 32:22well, you know. Know sometimes you run into again.
- 32:25I brought up bridge quarterback like hey this
- 32:28year We're just gonna have to go with a guy,
- 32:29but I got to be looking and saying okay. Who's
- 32:32my next guy? And I need results you know like
- 32:37Lamar Jackson Josh Allen or MVPs Never made it
- 32:41to a Super Bowl, but I know that It's just gonna
- 32:46take that one season for them, so you have seen
- 32:49enough of it, but then when I see these guys
- 32:54really fizzle and crash out in the playoffs.
- 32:58Those are the guys that I just can't go with
- 33:01you as my. But you gotta get there. It's a thin
- 33:04line. We always say at quarterbacks, you gotta
- 33:08have somebody. But I feel like as a franchise,
- 33:11you better have a guy who you think can get you
- 33:12to that next level. Not just win a playoff game,
- 33:16but can get you to playoff, to get you to that
- 33:19NFC championship, AFC championship, Super Bowl.
- 33:22just get there. Get me. Have me believe that
- 33:24you can get me. And I'll say this only once I
- 33:27love the the the phrase bridge quarterback, but
- 33:32I'm going to give you a name and go ahead. No,
- 33:35I'm just saying like, I just feel like you got
- 33:37to have somebody that the majority of time, most
- 33:41teams should have a guy that they think this
- 33:43guy can get me and lead my team to the next level.
- 33:48I'm gonna give him credit, I bashed him not seven
- 33:51minutes ago. Sam Darnold's a bridge quarterback.
- 33:58Got him to one seed, hosting playoffs until the
- 34:02Super Bowl. So sometimes it works out. You get
- 34:06that guy, he rises that momentum. Go ahead. Yeah,
- 34:09we don't know if it works out yet. No, no, no,
- 34:13I'm saying the success that the Seattle Seahawks
- 34:17have had, He's already earned this year's salary.
- 34:22He's already earned it. They exceeded expectation.
- 34:25They won the toughest division in all of football
- 34:28and got the one seed and get to host a playoff
- 34:34game. That's a success for them. They weren't
- 34:37expecting this. Yeah, again, I'm not a fan of
- 34:40him, but he's on a better path than a Daniel
- 34:46Jones. I agree. Even with all the turnovers,
- 34:51all that. Last year, even with his 2025 season
- 34:56with the Vikings, he proved that. I agree. Yeah,
- 34:59he's proven that he can perform in the regular
- 35:02season. And now we're just saying, will it happen
- 35:05in the playoffs? But you're right. For the most
- 35:09part, yeah, he's earned his contract. I'm with
- 37:07you. All right. Let's move on. Another team slash
- 37:12quarterback. What are they going to do? The New
- 37:17York Jets and Justin Fields. They benched him.
- 37:24They blamed him. You know, I don't know what
- 37:27they're going to do. I don't know who's going
- 37:29to go play quarterback there. The Raiders have
- 37:32the first pick and I haven't even gotten to the
- 37:35Raiders. But we can go ahead and throw them in
- 37:37there. We know what they're going to do, but
- 37:38for the most part, they're going to draft Fernando
- 37:41Mendoza. If you haven't heard, Dante Morse, his
- 37:46only competition is staying at Oregon for next
- 37:48year. So that knocks him out. I saw that. I heard
- 37:51that. Yeah, that's rough. So the quarterback
- 37:54class in this coming draft is going to be really
- 37:58low. Mendoza will be the Raiders. So the Jets,
- 38:01I don't know that the draft is where they're
- 38:03going to find their next quarterback. So I don't
- 38:05know what they're going to do. I don't know if
- 38:08Justin Fields stays there under his contract
- 38:11to battle with someone. He's been given three
- 38:16teams already. Can he do a Daniel Jones, Sam
- 38:20Dornan, and all of a sudden make that jump? I
- 38:24don't know. He's a dual threat. I don't know
- 38:28if Aaron Glenn's the right guy to get him to
- 38:31the next level, but - Okay, I really have nothing
- 38:37for the Jets. I mean they're they're one of the
- 38:39worst franchises right now They're the word one
- 38:41of the worst teams. They're one of the worst
- 38:43seasons in the history of the NFL no interceptions
- 38:46and they need a quarterback and They're gonna
- 38:51end up with I feel like they're gonna end up
- 38:54maybe being that team that Just reaches and grass
- 38:59and gets desperate and we brought up those two
- 39:02names Kyler Murray into a tug of a little it's
- 39:05Hell they're better than Justin Fields Let's
- 39:10swing big and we'll take the biggest name that's
- 39:12out there. That's a possibility, right? Yeah
- 39:16Yeah, I I don't know what the Jets are gonna
- 39:21do and the the one thing is I Mean it's hilarious
- 39:27There's only two teams in like all of NFL history
- 39:32that have a terrible track record when it comes
- 39:34to like getting great quarterbacks and the Browns
- 39:38are number one with a bullet and the Jets got
- 39:41to be number two. Like they just can't get it
- 39:44right. And even when they do get it right, it
- 39:47doesn't last long. You know, and especially in
- 39:51recent years, like it's just this, this terrible
- 39:56decision at the terrible decision at the bad
- 39:58draft pick after bad signing. And it's kind of
- 40:02like they're stuck in a rut. Yeah. I'm going
- 40:05to say something that I don't know how deep you've
- 40:12looked into the potential quarterbacks that are
- 40:17available for the draft. Obviously there are
- 40:18going to be a ton of quarterbacks that enter
- 40:19the draft that we never thought or heard of.
- 40:22For sure. But if you're the Jets, I say you just
- 40:26go get the best talent that you've seen perform
- 40:29at a high level in the college ranks and just
- 40:32sign them to anything. You don't have anything
- 40:34else to lose and see who can cut the mustard
- 40:38enough to earn a starting job. I love Diego Pavia
- 40:42from Vanderbilt, dude. And the scouting report
- 40:46is that he won't even, he'll be a late round
- 40:50draft pick to an unrestricted free agent signing.
- 40:54If you're the Jets, just take a fifth rounder
- 40:57and grab them. Just get them on a real cheap
- 41:00$750 ,000 a year contract. and just get somebody
- 41:04who plays with passions. And I know he gets a
- 41:09bad rap for his attitude and all that stuff.
- 41:11You can coach that shit out of him in the NFL,
- 41:14because they'll get you out. You will be Jamarcus
- 41:16Russell in this motherfucker. They're going to
- 41:18get you out of here. You have a bad attitude.
- 41:20You can't play at this level. I just think they
- 41:23need to go get somebody like that, a spark plug.
- 41:26Okay. What about a Carson Beck? Cuz believe it
- 41:39or not, a few seasons ago, he was like, well,
- 41:44this guy, he's gonna be the top pick of the draft
- 41:46if he goes to the NFL. And then he kinda, again,
- 41:52I keep using this word, fizzled, a little bit
- 41:54at Georgia, right? I think he got hurt as well.
- 41:57And then, of course, ended up at Miami. I mean,
- 41:59he's been into college for a decade, but - So
- 42:02he's he's had enough, you know big -time college
- 42:05games That maybe by now he's ready for the NFL
- 42:09He's he's he's one of the older quarterbacks
- 42:12that will be going into the league and he's playing
- 42:14for a national chamber Let me ask you this Do
- 42:22you think Do you think that Someone else will
- 42:28drive Carson Beck in rounds one or two. I think.
- 42:37Now, I think he makes it past round two. I think
- 42:42teams will be drafting quarterbacks higher than
- 42:44they should be. OK, you damn do see you nailed
- 42:49it. That's exactly what I was going to say. Yeah,
- 42:52the only way to get him is to get him earlier
- 42:55than you should. But it doesn't mean that you
- 42:58shouldn't just go get them Yeah, I think in the
- 43:01Jets, you know, they got some draft picks they
- 43:04may make a trade and that's gonna get to a name
- 43:06later, but They've got to really like you said
- 43:11try to trade for the best quarterback they can
- 43:15possibly get And or like you said hell we suck
- 43:21already let's give a young let's give the who's
- 43:24the next best guy Do you know let's really get
- 43:26our scouts and who's the next best quarterback
- 43:28in the draft outside of Mendoza? Do you know
- 43:32what? When you mentioned trade just then I was
- 43:36sitting here and I'm thinking The only trade
- 43:39options for them are unconventional style quarterbacks
- 43:43guys that don't fit the prototype Which is what
- 43:46they've had You know throughout their organization's
- 43:50history in the last couple of years outside of
- 43:52Aaron Rodgers Kyla Murray, like you think about
- 43:56the names that we've kind of mentioned that are
- 43:58available. Kyla Murray, Kirk Cousins, you know,
- 44:02Tua. I mean, even if you think about some of
- 44:04the veteran coaches, I mean, Russell Wilson's
- 44:06still out there. Like I'm a coaches, uh, veteran
- 44:09quarterbacks. True. Yeah. He could be, you know
- 44:12what I mean? They're all undersized. They're
- 44:14all flawed. I didn't even have him. Yeah. I didn't
- 44:17even bring, I didn't have him on my list. I'm
- 44:19crazy. Yeah. I think. Yeah. And that's what I
- 44:21mean. Like we forgot about him that quick, but
- 44:24yeah. But again, he's like an Aaron Rodgers to
- 44:26me. He's gonna keep a seat warm like in Kansas
- 44:29City or Indianapolis until their guy comes back.
- 44:33Got it. But the big name trade that is kind of
- 44:38out there, like Joe Burrow. If you're gonna swing,
- 44:44Jets have got to swing big. They're New York.
- 44:50Make the call. At least make the call. I don't
- 44:52know if he's really available or wants out. Oh,
- 44:55no, no, no, no, no. Hold on. Hold on. There's
- 44:57as. And just you could just say yes or no. Mahomes,
- 45:05Allen. Jackson. A team calls and asked, you know,
- 45:11to trade for them. Do you even take the call?
- 45:15If someone calls for those three. Yes, to trade
- 45:20for them. Miami's calling Baltimore about Lamar
- 45:23Jackson. Are they answering the phone? No, they
- 45:26shouldn't. Exactly. And I think it's the same
- 45:29for Josh Allen. It's the same for Patrick Holmes.
- 45:32You couldn't offer me to, you, you got to offer
- 45:34me the moon in order for me for, well, that's,
- 45:38that's where I differ. I'd give, I'd give up
- 45:42some stuff for, I would give up some stuff to,
- 45:46to, to move Joe Burrow. Like, if you could give
- 45:49me some picks and you know he's disgruntled,
- 45:53he's got an injury history, they've underperformed,
- 45:57you know, since making a Super Bowl appearance,
- 45:59you know, the line is in shambles. Like, they've
- 46:03got flaws. Just start all over again. You're
- 46:06the Bengals. Who cares? The Bengals are a team,
- 46:10man, too, and I don't have them on this list,
- 46:11but if they were to trade your borough, they
- 46:14got so many holes on defense and other places.
- 46:18But they have a lot of talent obviously a receiver
- 46:21Chase Brown did well at running back. I think
- 46:25if you just get a And I hate then I'm going back
- 46:29on what I'm saying, right? I think the Bengals
- 46:31are a team that if they got a guy like Daniel
- 46:33Jones, you know what I mean? There's enough talent
- 46:36around them That they would still be able to
- 46:39compete But they'd have better players on the
- 46:42other side of the ball on defense if they were
- 46:44to get picks And I use them right to to help
- 46:47out that team if they were to trade Joe burrow
- 46:50But I thought that name was you know it's been
- 46:52out there, so I thought Jets why not they had
- 46:55Joe Namath get Joe burrow? Okay, what do you
- 47:00give up for him? I? Don't know I haven't looked
- 47:05to see what the Jets have I think they have They
- 47:08got picks Oh, yeah, that's what you got to give
- 47:11up. I mean, you got to give up picks. They've
- 47:13already given up. They've already given up. Go
- 47:19ahead. No, I was just saying, they've already
- 47:20get up Gardner and Williams in trades last year.
- 47:24So they gave up their best two defensive players.
- 47:28So I don't think they give up any more players.
- 47:31But I think they've got enough picks to say,
- 47:33hey, we need a quarterback. And go from there.
- 47:39You take at least a one. Well, yeah, I think,
- 47:44I think, I think a one, I think it's three picks
- 47:47total one, you know, and three being the highest
- 47:50two picks. And then, you know, and then whatever
- 47:54you can throw in a fifth or sixth. Yeah. You
- 47:57got to get, you got to give me some players with
- 47:59very young contracts. Oh, for sure. And like,
- 48:03like something, and honestly, maybe even a future
- 48:06pick like, like to Like if I'm gonna give up
- 48:10that guy that guy who is eight again a franchise
- 48:14quarterback Yeah, you won't have you gonna have
- 48:16to come up off that bread. You got to give me
- 48:18all that Yeah, it's gonna take a lot. I mean
- 48:21he's right there like you said you mentioned
- 48:24Alan Jackson and he's Right there, but I'd be
- 48:29willing right there in that mix Yeah, and but
- 48:32I'd still be willing to move him. I don't I wouldn't
- 48:34move the other guys. I just wouldn't Yeah, I
- 48:38know it's a tough. We'll see if that happens
- 48:41Yeah, I got I've got two more things Go. No,
- 48:46you're good. So I'm not gonna get into everybody
- 48:48cuz I know we were trying to get this episode
- 48:51a certain time The Cleveland Browns are gonna
- 48:55have a new head coach They they say Deshaun Diddy
- 48:59Watson is going to compete for the job with a
- 49:03chador Sanders Can they just like I don't know,
- 49:08the head coach is gonna come in and I feel like
- 49:11he needs to be a fan of Shador rather than Diddy
- 49:15Watson. I just feel like why would you continue
- 49:19to try to put that guy on the field? I don't
- 49:21think, I think, build up your rookie, build up,
- 49:24I mean your young guy, he's not a rookie now,
- 49:26but build up Shador. Again, did he light the
- 49:30world on fire? No, but I also don't think his
- 49:33head coach necessarily had his back. Get somebody
- 49:38in there who's gonna give him a chance, a real
- 49:39chance. He showed enough flashes that he can
- 49:43play quarterback in the NFL. So, I mean, I think
- 49:49the main question is, what do the Browns do?
- 49:53And does Deshaun Watson play again in the NFL?
- 49:56And is it with the Browns? I mean, nobody's gonna
- 49:59take him, right? I don't think, well - He would
- 50:05have to play and then be moved. Like I don't
- 50:07think anybody's like, yeah, making like, you
- 50:10know what I'm saying? Like making calls. Oh,
- 50:12we need to get this guy. I mean, he was, you
- 50:15know, terrible. Um, but I'm thinking about the
- 50:20Browns and what comes to my mind is you mentioned
- 50:25they'll go, they'll have to, they'll have to
- 50:26bring in a coach that you hope supports. I don't
- 50:31know who that is. And, you know, he's an acquired
- 50:34taste, but I do think you're right. I think you
- 50:36can find a coach that helps them. But I think
- 50:39above anything else, the NFL needs to make sure
- 50:42that under no circumstances does another team
- 50:48get the rights to, um, what's that NFL show that
- 50:53they do? Hard knocks. Hard knocks. It needs to
- 50:59be the Browns on hard knocks next season. It
- 51:03has to be I mean it it's effortless television.
- 51:06It'll be the most watched thing in Brown's history
- 51:09It'll be must -see TV, especially if they compete
- 51:15week after week everybody will be watching those
- 51:18preseason games Like it's a hard knocks wet dream,
- 51:23man. Like crazy ratings rights itself. You got,
- 51:27they're going to have the social media fun. You
- 51:29got Diddy Watson, as you call them. You know,
- 51:32you got Shador, young person, vibrant all over
- 51:36the internet. Yeah. That's what I'm rooting for.
- 51:41Miles Garrett. Yeah. Deep, deep boy. Sac record
- 51:45holder. Like, yeah. Like, I mean, and then. whoever
- 51:49they bring in is coach. And I gotta think they're
- 51:52gonna try to get a good name. Yeah, we'll see.
- 51:55I don't know how attractive that job is because
- 51:58of the quarterback situation. But if it's a young
- 52:01guy, especially offensive minded, again, have
- 52:04a little input in Shador, set him up right, use
- 52:07these draft picks. They've got two first rounders
- 52:09because of the trade with Jacksonville last year.
- 52:12So who knows? if they just hit it out of the
- 52:17park or they just continue to fail as a franchise.
- 52:23I'm just took me a sec took me hold on took me
- 52:25a second. I know who to brown should get as a
- 52:28head coach. Yes. Who's that? Go get Mike McDaniel.
- 52:33Just go get him. God. That would be That's all
- 52:38you want. Fantastic television on hard. Yeah,
- 52:40that's all you want. You just want. Well, no,
- 52:44no, no. Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. That's
- 52:47on. What? Hold on. That's unfair. Actually, the
- 52:52first thing that came to my mind was what I think
- 52:55he's capable of doing play calling wise with
- 52:59Shador Sanders. Yeah. He would set him up. Um
- 53:03but yeah, the gold rim glasses would go good
- 53:05with the orange It'd be dope I might dress up
- 53:11like him for Halloween All right, I had a couple
- 53:14names on here, but I'm gonna get into them. They're
- 53:16backups that could be starters. I just have one
- 53:19more guy He's not going anywhere His fifth year
- 53:24option just got picked up. I Just got a question
- 53:27for you. So the Carolina Panthers. They just
- 53:30picked up fifth year option on Bryce Young and
- 53:33I'm going back to these these terms we used earlier
- 53:36and it's Is he a franchise quarterback or a bridge
- 53:40quarterback? Because you mentioned, and before
- 53:45you go, think about it. But on the episode coming
- 53:48up, we already recorded, but we talked about
- 53:50Caleb Williams. If he had been on the Panthers,
- 53:53which that was their pick, would have been, they
- 53:56hadn't made that trade. Would he have won that
- 54:01game against the Rams? I think I'm gonna do -
- 54:04So I saw this and I've heard this before, someone
- 54:07called him a bridge quarterback. And for the
- 54:11Panthers, and again, he has played so much better,
- 54:15since he got benched last season. There's those
- 54:20times, I mean, he definitely can pass, he makes
- 54:23some great throws. But then there's times where
- 54:26you're like, dude is on his tiptoes, he's having
- 54:30to jump. and then he doesn't get anything on
- 54:33the ball. You know what I mean? So as good as
- 54:37he's been, and he has held his own, and he has
- 54:40overcome everything, the criticisms. But again,
- 54:46that's that short, small quarterback. Can you
- 54:49actually get your team to the next level? And
- 54:52again, he did get them to the playoffs. They
- 54:54backed in however you want to put it, but he
- 54:56did get them first time since Cam Newton. So
- 54:58a lot of good and a lot of thing a lot of growth
- 55:00a lot of upside going But at the end of the day
- 55:05And I say this because we talked about Kyler
- 55:08and Tua they both got those five -year extensions
- 55:12for over 200 million dollars and I'm like Is
- 55:17that's what is that next like kid that be next
- 55:19for Bryce young? You're gonna give him 230 250
- 55:25million So my question again, is your franchise
- 55:31or bridge quarterback? Can't first off and I
- 55:36mean this with all sincerity in my heart. I was
- 55:39smiling the entire time you were talking, dude.
- 55:41That might've been your best segment ever, dude.
- 55:44You killed that shit. It was easily your best
- 55:48segment you've ever recorded. You were like Eminem
- 55:52in the booth, dude. You were cooking. Spaghetti,
- 55:54spaghetti. I just wanted to say that. Spaghetti,
- 55:57spaghetti. I got jokes and jokes. I got takes
- 55:59and takes and takes. I'm gonna go, you asked
- 56:06me A or B. is Bryce Young an A franchise quarterback
- 56:12or is he a B a bridge quarterback? And I'm going
- 56:16to take answer C. None of the above. And answers.
- 56:20No answer C is that I don't think he's either
- 56:24of those. Okay. But I know he's a starting quarterback.
- 56:29Okay. That's good. I like that. He is a starter.
- 56:32He's a starter in this league. He has played
- 56:36at that level. You've mentioned what he's done
- 56:38at his at his size and his limitations and I
- 56:41gave him criticism early in this year. I would
- 56:43like to see him put some weight on. He lacks
- 56:46arm strength to me. Everything has to be positioned
- 56:50perfectly for him to get good, hard, tough, pinpoint,
- 56:55accurate passes off. And it saddens me because
- 56:58all you got to do is get a little bit stronger.
- 57:00Some guys are born with it like Josh Allen, but
- 57:02for you, you're not that. Drew Brees was able
- 57:05to develop that and then he lost it late in his
- 57:07career. You can do it. So for me, I know he's
- 57:12a starter. I know that he's one of these players
- 57:15that you get him on your team and he's going
- 57:17to do, he threw that pick this past weekend,
- 57:21man. And he had a smile on his face and I'm like,
- 57:25I love seeing that from him. He's just like,
- 57:29damn it, he smiled. And then he went right back
- 57:31out there and went right back down on the field
- 57:33and scored on the Rams. The guy is a winner.
- 57:36He played in Alabama under Saban. He's one of
- 57:39those dudes. He's a guy that, yeah, obviously
- 57:44I've changed my opinion on him. I'm just asking
- 57:46the question. I don't have one or the other.
- 57:49I like your answer that he is a starter in this
- 57:52league. I think he could be like Drew Brees.
- 57:58I like him rolling out more passing than in the
- 58:01pocket. It's gotta be quick. But again, it is
- 58:06the elephant in the room always that he is short.
- 58:09And like I said, sometimes he has to jump to
- 58:11pass, things like that. But at the end of the
- 58:15day, he is way tougher than a lot of these other
- 58:19guys in the league He takes some hits and to
- 58:22be small he holds up and he gets right back up
- 58:26and like you said throw the pick He has such
- 58:28he's such a good guy such a good attitude Even
- 58:34when it's bad, he's still pressing forward. He's
- 58:37kind of got like a it's kind of like the Jalen
- 58:40hurts but Bryce Young smiles, you know, I mean,
- 58:45he's got that mentality Yeah, and yeah, I'm rooting
- 58:48for him. I always do I don't blame him for you
- 58:52know, they're lost that last week. I blame play
- 58:55calling Even when he makes mistakes he bounces
- 58:58back. So yeah, I just want to ask the question
- 59:00just cuz again He just got his fifth year option.
- 59:02I thought it'd be kind of like a somewhat fun
- 59:05topic to list Let's talk about Bryce real quick
- 59:08while we're talking about quarterbacks Um, I
- 59:16don't know. I don't know if I disagree with you
- 59:20on any of that, man. Yeah. Like, like it, like
- 59:24again, like it was complete. Like, yeah, it all
- 59:26makes sense. Um, you know, and, and we've, and
- 59:30the other, the other thing that kind of makes
- 59:31this, you know, difficult is, you know, we're
- 59:34recording this at this point in the season. It's
- 59:37so much unknown and things that are going to
- 59:39shift. You know, this is, I guess this is our,
- 59:42you know, maybe a weaker attempt at some fantasy
- 59:44football, but as of right now, these are all
- 59:47viable options we're talking about. Yeah. We,
- 59:49we didn't name the episode this, but it is kind
- 59:52of the way too early again, quarterback carousel.
- 59:56We just wanted to get ahead of it, get it out
- 59:58there, talk about it. You know, we're still stuck
- 1:00:01in football mode, obviously in the playoffs and
- 1:00:04super bowl season. So, you know, all these are
- 1:00:07like topics and there could be more names added
- 1:00:10to this who knows obviously with free agency
- 1:00:13and guys getting cut you never know so uh trades
- 1:00:16all that nature so we shall see but yeah so good
- 1:00:20stuff um that's all i have so um yeah so that's
- 1:00:27another episode of fanatically speaking again
